Latest / Brett Keane and Eve Show / School secretly socially transitioned her daughter
Transcript
- 0:00Discovered a breast binder in her bedroom and so I had a
- 0:03conversation with her and asked her where it came from.
- 0:06She finally came out and told me that the school had given it to
- 0:09her and more precisely the school social worker.
- 0:14This is a a breast binder. This is one of the binders that
- 0:18was given to my daughter. And as you can see right here,
- 0:20there's like an, an added layer of like compression where your
- 0:24breasts are to, to compress them to make you appear more
- 0:28masculine. It, it hurt as a mom to know
- 0:31that she was keeping a secret, but I, I think it hurt even more
- 0:34to know that adults were encouraging her to keep these
- 0:38secrets. It, it really makes you wonder
- 0:42what other things are occurring in, in your schools.
- 0:45It really makes you question everything.
- 0:50I met with the principal and the Superintendent.
- 0:52They met with the social worker on Tuesday and then I met with
- 0:56them again on Wednesday with the Superintendent, and they just
- 0:59decided that the social worker did nothing wrong and that they
- 1:03weren't going to investigate the situation.
- 1:06This situation really is about my parental rights being
- 1:10violated, about a social worker who had never even had a
- 1:13conversation with me encouraging my child to keep secrets from me
- 1:18to tell her, you know, look, I'm not going to tell your mom, and
- 1:20you don't have to either. So she's bringing these these
- 1:24breast binders home and hiding them in her room on me.
- 1:26That's distressing. At 13, keeping secrets from your
- 1:30parents is a stressful situation.
- 1:33I went to a school board meeting and I I spoke up about this
- 1:37issue. The only response I got was
- 1:39thank you for your comment. I have 3 kids who need an
- 1:43education and I would love to be able to send them to a public
- 1:45school and in the current environment I'm not comfortable
- 1:48with that. And so I feel like unfortunately
- 1:50it's going to take legal action from parents like myself to
- 1:54really make change happen. The Goldwater Institute jumped
- 1:58on board with this because they know it's important, because
- 2:02parental rights are, are incredibly important and they've
- 2:05been beyond supportive. I, there's no way I would have
- 2:08continued to pursue a lawsuit if it wasn't for the Goldwater
- 2:11Institute. My daughter, I, I pulled my
- 2:13daughter out of school and she, I'm homeschooling her currently.
- 2:17She's in 8th grade. And so I I don't know what high
- 2:21school is going to look like.
