- 0:48SPEAKER_19: You uh well actually uh Thursday, this Thursday will be officially one week that you have been uh retired from your current or your former um uh job.
- 1:00SPEAKER_19: Right.
- 1:01SPEAKER_19: How's it how's it going?
- 1:02SPEAKER_19: What have you been doing?
- 1:03SPEAKER_19: Nothing.
- 1:06SPEAKER_19: Imagine that!
- 1:07SPEAKER_22: Well, it's it's it's that it doesn't feel like retirement right now.
- 1:11SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 1:12SPEAKER_22: Because it's it's just it's still pretty new.
- 1:14SPEAKER_22: It feels like a vacation.
- 1:15SPEAKER_22: It feels yeah, that's exactly what it feels like.
- 1:17SPEAKER_22: It's like, you know, you get up and you're like, oh well, I'm just gonna do this today.
- 1:20SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 1:21SPEAKER_22: You know, like last Thursday, I went out and worked in the woods.
- 1:24SPEAKER_19: Yeah, I saw that you told me that, yeah.
- 1:26SPEAKER_22: You know, so that was fun, and then and then I've been you know cleaning out my closet that I've been meaning to do for a while.
- 1:32SPEAKER_22: Sure.
- 1:32SPEAKER_22: And I've been going through like clothes that I haven't, you know, I'm you know, putting stuff in stores that I I don't wear anymore or anything like that.
- 1:40SPEAKER_19: And before now you had never had time to do that.
- 1:42SPEAKER_22: Never had time to do that stuff.
- 1:43SPEAKER_22: Now I got like time.
- 1:44SPEAKER_22: It's like, wow, I could actually do this.
- 1:47SPEAKER_22: Right.
- 1:48SPEAKER_22: I actually got time to do it.
- 1:49SPEAKER_22: You know, like last night, I went, I taught class, yeah, as normal.
- 1:53SPEAKER_22: Yeah, went home, and was like, you know, the sun is just setting, you know, it's it's it's fairly clear, you know, the moon's out.
- 2:01SPEAKER_22: I'm like, oh so I got my little camp chair set up on the driveway.
- 2:05SPEAKER_22: I was out there for three hours just sitting there looking at the sky on a Monday night.
- 2:11SPEAKER_22: Were you like reading a book?
- 2:12SPEAKER_22: No, I was just Hey, that's pretty.
- 2:16SPEAKER_22: Oh, there goes a satellite for three hours?
- 2:18SPEAKER_22: Yeah, for three hours.
- 2:19SPEAKER_22: Wow.
- 2:20SPEAKER_22: I literally did nothing, just sat there.
- 2:22SPEAKER_22: Well, I had my phone, you know, once a yeah, yeah.
- 2:25SPEAKER_22: You know, I was just I was just looking around.
- 2:27SPEAKER_22: I was like, oh yeah, look at that.
- 2:28SPEAKER_22: That's uh, you know, I'm like looking, I wonder what the name of that star is.
- 2:32SPEAKER_22: Oh wow, that's a that's a truth.
- 2:34SPEAKER_22: What day was this?
- 2:34SPEAKER_22: Last night.
- 2:35SPEAKER_22: Oh, last night.
- 2:36unknown: Yeah.
- 2:36SPEAKER_19: Okay, because I was uh your name came up on Sunday because my my wife, you know, was like, what are your plans today?
- 2:42SPEAKER_19: You know, because uh we're beginning stages of sanding the entryway, I gotta paint the entry.
- 2:48SPEAKER_19: This summer I gotta paint the kitchen and all that stuff.
- 2:50SPEAKER_19: It's all kinds of you know stuff that needs to be done.
- 2:52SPEAKER_19: Uh anyway, she goes, What your what are your plans for today?
- 2:55SPEAKER_19: And I said, I was thinking maybe see if Doug wanted to go to a movie.
- 3:01SPEAKER_19: I did that Saturday.
- 3:02SPEAKER_19: She I and then she I I I was like, but I don't know when the last time Doug went to a movie was.
- 3:06SPEAKER_22: I actually went Saturday.
- 3:07SPEAKER_19: Did you go?
- 3:08SPEAKER_19: Did you go see Thunderbolt?
- 3:09SPEAKER_19: No, I went to see uh Accountant 2.
- 3:11SPEAKER_19: Oh.
- 3:11SPEAKER_19: Because I wanted to go see Thunderbolt.
- 3:13SPEAKER_19: Oh, okay.
- 3:13SPEAKER_19: And then Jude, my son, who was planning on coming up today, um, when I told him, I said, I was thinking about asking Doug to go to the movies.
- 3:21SPEAKER_19: He says, What are you going to see?
- 3:22SPEAKER_19: Thunderbolt.
- 3:22SPEAKER_19: And he says, Do you going with Doug?
- 3:27SPEAKER_19: I said, I said, wait, wait, do you want me to wait until you come up and we can all go together?
- 3:33SPEAKER_19: Yeah, let's do that.
- 3:34SPEAKER_19: Okay.
- 3:35SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 3:35SPEAKER_19: But he's not coming now.
- 3:36SPEAKER_19: Oh.
- 3:36SPEAKER_22: So we don't get to go to the movies now.
- 3:39SPEAKER_19: Well, no, we can go to the movies.
- 3:40SPEAKER_19: We can go just without him.
- 3:41SPEAKER_19: Okay, fine.
- 3:42SPEAKER_19: Because he's he's he's not coming up now.
- 3:43SPEAKER_19: So his uh uh well, I mean, I I think I can say this.
- 3:48SPEAKER_19: He that kid just never ceases to amaze me.
- 3:52SPEAKER_19: Just blows me away.
- 3:54SPEAKER_22: Yeah, he's awesome.
- 3:55SPEAKER_19: So he's got one year left in law school.
- 3:57SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 3:58SPEAKER_19: And and I can I think I can say this.
- 4:01SPEAKER_19: Um so he had a and and the way like law uh the la works, like uh law school works, um is and I learned this from him, is you get internships for the summer.
- 4:17SPEAKER_19: Right.
- 4:17SPEAKER_19: And so his first summer internship was at Jackson Labs down at Bar Harbor.
- 4:22SPEAKER_22: Right, I remember that.
- 4:23SPEAKER_19: And he got paid very well um and learned a lot.
- 4:26SPEAKER_22: At least he got paid.
- 4:27SPEAKER_19: Right?
- 4:27SPEAKER_19: Yeah, it was a paid internship.
- 4:29SPEAKER_19: And so apparently in your second year of law school, uh, the internship that you get after the second year is typically um one that will hire you after you graduate.
- 4:45SPEAKER_22: Okay.
- 4:46SPEAKER_22: So that's like the big one.
- 4:47SPEAKER_22: That's like the test run.
- 4:48SPEAKER_19: Seems like.
- 4:49SPEAKER_19: Okay.
- 4:49SPEAKER_19: Uh, or or at least the probability is that you'll get hired uh after you graduate.
- 4:56SPEAKER_19: And so he had an internship lined up and was excited about it.
- 5:00SPEAKER_19: They have offices all over the state of Maine.
- 5:02SPEAKER_19: Um, and I think probably in uh New Hampshire and Massachusetts too.
- 5:06SPEAKER_19: I'm not sure, but he was gonna be in the Bangor office.
- 5:10SPEAKER_19: Well, uh and it's important to get your internship lined up early, and he did.
- 5:18SPEAKER_19: And about I think it was April, the middle of April, he found out that the law firm that he was gonna intern at, a bunch of the lawyers left.
- 5:31SPEAKER_19: Um and so the internship fell through.
- 5:35SPEAKER_19: So they weren't gonna they weren't gonna have him come and and and and be an intern.
- 5:39SPEAKER_19: Okay.
- 5:40SPEAKER_19: So he was That's a little weird.
- 5:42SPEAKER_19: He didn't panic.
- 5:44SPEAKER_19: Um I mean he he obviously was looking for an internship, so he put the feelers out and he knows a bunch of people and and I actually I asked a couple people and and uh so he was like, you know, uh if I don't get an internship, I'll just get a job for the summer somewhere.
- 6:02SPEAKER_19: Um and so last time we checked not last time, but the time before the last time we checked in with him, he's like, I've got a uh interview at the uh New Hampshire Revenue Service.
- 6:11SPEAKER_19: And he said, It's not paid, but I'll learn a lot.
- 6:15SPEAKER_19: And I was like, Okay.
- 6:17SPEAKER_19: And so he called me the week of that interview.
- 6:21SPEAKER_19: That interview was on a Thursday, and he said, I got an interview on Friday at a law firm in uh New Hampshire.
- 6:30SPEAKER_19: Um, and it's a small firm, but they only do real estate and they do transactional and blah blah blah.
- 6:37SPEAKER_19: And so the interview went very well, they want to hire him.
- 6:41SPEAKER_19: Uh uh at this you know, this amount of money they're gonna pay him.
- 6:44SPEAKER_22: Oh, sure.
- 6:44SPEAKER_19: Uh at this amount of money.
- 6:45SPEAKER_19: I'm like, oh good, you know, he's got an internship.
- 6:47SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 6:48SPEAKER_19: I said, What did you accept it?
- 6:49SPEAKER_19: What did you say?
- 6:49SPEAKER_19: I said, No, I asked for more money.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: Alright, you what?
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: I said, I asked for more money.
- 6:58SPEAKER_19: And he said, I'll get back, they'll get back to me.
- 7:00SPEAKER_19: I was like, Okay.
- 7:03SPEAKER_19: And they came back.
- 7:04SPEAKER_22: This is this is where we would drop in that from uh dodgeball.
- 7:07SPEAKER_22: That's just Prad's bold strategy cotton.
- 7:10SPEAKER_22: Let's see if it works out.
- 7:12SPEAKER_19: So, but it's a different mentality than uh we have up here.
- 7:16SPEAKER_19: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 7:16SPEAKER_19: You know, or I have.
- 7:18SPEAKER_19: I have a small town mentality, you know.
- 7:20SPEAKER_22: Well, we I mean if we did that up here, they'd be like, All right, see ya later.
- 7:24SPEAKER_19: Yeah, exactly.
- 7:25SPEAKER_22: I don't know if that up.
- 7:26SPEAKER_19: So so so he was very, you know, he's like, No, I asked for more money.
- 7:30SPEAKER_19: So I I I and then they got back to him.
- 7:33SPEAKER_19: And uh on the same I think it was the same day that they got back to him, uh, saying they're going to give him more money. 'Cause they want him.
- 7:42SPEAKER_19: Um he got an interview or scored an interview with a better firm that he wants to work at.
- 7:52SPEAKER_19: Also also in New Hampshire.
- 7:54SPEAKER_19: Um and he has that interview next week.
- 7:57SPEAKER_19: Okay.
- 7:57SPEAKER_19: And he's like, Yeah, that's a better situation for me.
- 8:03SPEAKER_19: Okay.
- 8:04SPEAKER_19: So we're gonna I guess he's gonna wait until he finds out uh, you know, what that interview is next week, and he's got options now.
- 8:13SPEAKER_19: But it's like and I'm not gonna say that that keep things keep falling into that kid's lap.
- 8:18SPEAKER_19: But he works for that.
- 8:21SPEAKER_19: No question.
- 8:21SPEAKER_19: Yeah, he works for that.
- 8:23SPEAKER_19: But he it's like I don't know.
- 8:28SPEAKER_19: I I I'm proud of him.
- 8:31SPEAKER_19: Oh absolutely.
- 8:32SPEAKER_19: You know what I mean?
- 8:32SPEAKER_19: Yeah, it's just like Yeah, it's just uh it's weird.
- 8:37SPEAKER_22: Well it's just it's just different from our what we're used to.
- 8:40SPEAKER_22: Yeah.
- 8:40SPEAKER_22: You know?
- 8:41SPEAKER_22: Yeah.
- 8:41SPEAKER_22: We just, you know, we need a job.
- 8:43SPEAKER_22: I'm gonna go work here.
- 8:44SPEAKER_19: That's and that was that.
- 8:46SPEAKER_19: That's when I asked my wife or my wife's parents if I could marry her, uh, I said, I'll go work at McDonald's if I have to.
- 8:53SPEAKER_19: You know, I don't care.
- 8:54SPEAKER_19: I'll take care of her.
- 8:55SPEAKER_19: You did work.
- 8:55SPEAKER_22: Well, you worked at Burger King.
- 8:57SPEAKER_22: That was That was before that.
- 8:58SPEAKER_22: That was when I was a freshman in high school.
- 9:00SPEAKER_22: Yes.
- 9:01SPEAKER_22: I worked at Burger King.
- 9:02SPEAKER_22: Can I marry your daughter?
- 9:04SPEAKER_22: I promise I'll own the restaurant.
- 9:07SPEAKER_22: I can pretty much see Pete just slamming the door in your face.
- 9:11SPEAKER_19: But uh yeah, it's it is a different mentality, and but he's just he's just you know, he's married now, and he's just he's not my kid anymore.
- 9:21SPEAKER_19: I mean he is my kid, but you know.
- 9:23SPEAKER_22: He's always gonna be your kid, but he's just he's like he's like a grown man now.
- 9:26SPEAKER_22: Right.
- 9:26SPEAKER_22: It's like he's not that kid that, you know, we're making goofy videos and stuff like that, you know.
- 9:32SPEAKER_19: Speaking of goofy videos, I m I made a a comment.
- 9:37SPEAKER_19: Uh what did I I was my daughter, my uh Myra, was in the room and I said something I can't remember what it was, but she's like, what is that?
- 9:47SPEAKER_19: I said, you know, in the in the d in the doom man video.
- 9:50SPEAKER_19: She's like, what are you talking about?
- 9:52SPEAKER_19: I'm like, wait, I haven't shown you the the movies that we used to make?
- 9:57SPEAKER_19: No.
- 9:58SPEAKER_19: Oh wow.
- 9:59SPEAKER_19: I said, and my wife looks at me.
- 10:03SPEAKER_19: She's like, you can wait a couple more years, probably.
- 10:08SPEAKER_22: Yeah, she'll be 35 soon.
- 10:10SPEAKER_19: They weren't bad videos, they were just really dumb.
- 10:14SPEAKER_19: They were stupid, but fun.
- 10:15SPEAKER_19: But we had a blast.
- 10:16SPEAKER_19: Oh yeah.
- 10:17SPEAKER_19: Oh yeah.
- 10:18SPEAKER_19: I can't remember what uh what brought that up, but it was funny.
- 10:21SPEAKER_19: I was like, oh, that's right.
- 10:22SPEAKER_19: You don't, you've never seen those.
- 10:24SPEAKER_19: You want a drink or something?
- 10:26SPEAKER_19: You want some of this?
- 10:26SPEAKER_19: You want some of this?
- 10:27SPEAKER_19: You want a drink or something?
- 10:28SPEAKER_19: And and the other thing was um, my like Finn has never heard the rock docs.
- 10:36SPEAKER_19: Right?
- 10:37SPEAKER_19: Didn't know I was in the band called The Rock Docs.
- 10:39SPEAKER_19: Well, that was before he was born.
- 10:41SPEAKER_19: Right.
- 10:42SPEAKER_19: You know, and I I that I had written two albums with them, and you know it was just weird stuff.
- 10:47SPEAKER_19: And I was like, I keep forgetting that you guys don't know this stuff about me.
- 10:50SPEAKER_19: Oh, the other thing, my daughter said, uh I like uh we're we were talking about uh being in Nashville and I I went to Nashville actually it was b both Finn and Myra, they were in the room.
- 11:03SPEAKER_19: And and my daughter goes, You went to Nashville?
- 11:06SPEAKER_19: I was like, Yeah, twice.
- 11:07SPEAKER_19: Twice.
- 11:08SPEAKER_19: And and my wife goes, Yeah, and Vince Gill told him where the bathroom was.
- 11:13SPEAKER_19: And Finn goes, What?
- 11:15SPEAKER_13: I'm like, I have never told you this story.
- 11:19SPEAKER_19: That's a great story.
- 11:20SPEAKER_19: So I I guess I have to pull them aside and and and share this stuff with him because I haven't yet.
- 11:25SPEAKER_19: I guess not, man.
- 11:26SPEAKER_19: Well, I I and I, you know, I I guess when you have so many kids you lose track of it.
- 11:29SPEAKER_22: Well, you lose track of who you told what to, you know.
- 11:32SPEAKER_22: I shouldn't have a scoreboard in your room.
- 11:34SPEAKER_22: You're like, okay, well, I told Meyer about this.
- 11:36SPEAKER_22: Right.
- 11:36SPEAKER_19: Here we go.
- 11:37SPEAKER_19: Exactly.
- 11:38SPEAKER_19: Yeah, so uh yeah.
- 11:40SPEAKER_19: Uh but no, I'm just really, really proud of Jude.
- 11:42SPEAKER_19: I think it's good for him.
- 11:43SPEAKER_19: Good for him.
- 11:43SPEAKER_19: That's all.
- 11:44SPEAKER_19: You know, hopefully everything goes well.
- 11:46SPEAKER_19: But I mean, if if he if he doesn't work out with this new interview, he's got the other one.
- 11:51SPEAKER_22: He's got the other one.
- 11:52SPEAKER_22: Apparently they want him so bad they're just gonna throw money at him.
- 11:55SPEAKER_19: Exactly.
- 11:55SPEAKER_19: Yes.
- 11:55SPEAKER_19: That must be nice.
- 11:56SPEAKER_19: Yep.
- 11:57SPEAKER_19: So so yeah, uh all's good there.
- 11:59SPEAKER_19: All's good there.
- 12:00SPEAKER_19: We're good.
- 12:01SPEAKER_19: Uh so what are we talking about today?
- 12:04SPEAKER_19: Well, I got some songs I want you to hear.
- 12:06SPEAKER_19: All right.
- 12:07SPEAKER_19: I have a new video I want you to see.
- 12:09SPEAKER_19: Okay.
- 12:10SPEAKER_19: And uh a new maybe a new artist and uh and also kind of um a topic.
- 12:17SPEAKER_19: So let's start with the music first.
- 12:19SPEAKER_19: Oh, we start with the music first.
- 12:21SPEAKER_19: Um okay, so I have a new song.
- 12:23SPEAKER_19: So as you know, Joe Satriani is playing with Sammy Hagar in the Las Vegas residency.
- 12:29SPEAKER_19: Right.
- 12:30SPEAKER_19: Um before that, he went on tour, finally, with Steve Vi, just the two of them.
- 12:36SPEAKER_22: Well oh yeah, it wasn't the G.
- 12:37SPEAKER_19: Nope, wasn't the G three.
- 12:38SPEAKER_19: They just went on tour Steve uh uh Satriani Vi or Signor.
- 12:41SPEAKER_19: Oh, yeah, that's right.
- 12:42SPEAKER_19: And they made an album together.
- 12:45SPEAKER_19: And so they released the first single from the album, and it's featuring the great Glenn Hughes on vocals from Black Country Communion.
- 12:54SPEAKER_19: Uh and the song is called I Wanna Play My Guitar.
- 12:59SPEAKER_19: So I thought we'd hear a little bit of it because I haven't heard it yet.
- 13:08SPEAKER_12: All around the world, rocking never remain diamonds and per the beautiful sight gonna take it too far.
- 13:26SPEAKER_12: I won't be my dog.
- 14:23SPEAKER_22: It's kind of all over the place.
- 14:24SPEAKER_22: A little bit.
- 14:25SPEAKER_22: It's always too much.
- 14:26SPEAKER_22: It's like you got Satch, you got Vi, and it sounds like black black country community.
- 14:34SPEAKER_22: A little bit.
- 14:34SPEAKER_19: Yeah, you got Kenny Aronoff on drums.
- 14:36SPEAKER_22: Oh Marco Mendoza on bass, and a guy that Yeah, that I don't know, that song's not a good representation of the song.
- 14:43SPEAKER_22: It's not just because it just seems like it's all over.
- 14:45SPEAKER_19: I mean, it's just like it has doesn't have any like for for two guys, Vi and Satch, who um specialize in instrumental music that have a lot of melody.
- 14:57SPEAKER_19: Yes.
- 14:57SPEAKER_19: You know, uh a lot of flash, obviously, but a lot of m melody.
- 15:01SPEAKER_19: There's not a lot of melody in this song.
- 15:03SPEAKER_22: No, that it's just like all right, everybody go.
- 15:07SPEAKER_19: Yeah, and he's like it almost seems like Glenn Hughes is just making it up.
- 15:33SPEAKER_19: Yeah, I'm not crazy about it.
- 15:34SPEAKER_19: I mean, I don't mind it.
- 15:35SPEAKER_19: It's okay, it's okay.
- 15:36SPEAKER_22: I mean, I mean it's not terrible, but it's just like it's just like it doesn't seem to go anywhere.
- 15:40SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 15:41SPEAKER_22: It's just like they were like, you know, there's like, alrighty, everybody, let's play a you know, play whatever.
- 15:45SPEAKER_19: Right, exactly.
- 15:46SPEAKER_19: Let's go.
- 15:47SPEAKER_19: Exactly.
- 15:48SPEAKER_19: Um that's just what it feels like.
- 15:50SPEAKER_19: I want to show you a video, which is a new song.
- 15:52SPEAKER_19: Okay.
- 15:52SPEAKER_19: Uh Wolfgang Van Halen's new album is is coming out, um, or is going to, he's he's working on it or almost finished it, or something.
- 16:01SPEAKER_19: So he has a new single out, and it's called The End.
- 16:03SPEAKER_19: Sweet.
- 16:04SPEAKER_19: Now, if you haven't uh seen this video, you need to prepare yourself.
- 16:08SPEAKER_19: It's it's quite cool, actually.
- 16:10SPEAKER_19: There's a lot of cameos, but they're very quick.
- 16:13SPEAKER_22: Is this a rip-off of the thriller video?
- 16:14SPEAKER_19: It is.
- 16:15SPEAKER_19: Well, well, yes and no.
- 16:16SPEAKER_22: Well, it's starting off like the thriller video.
- 16:18SPEAKER_22: That's just why I think.
- 16:19SPEAKER_19: The video says, uh, due to my strong personal convictions, I wish to stress that this film is in no way endorse endorses a belief in the occult, Michael Jackson, which was the beginning of Thriller.
- 16:28SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 16:29SPEAKER_19: Okay.
- 16:30SPEAKER_19: So uh he just kind of puts his name underneath Michael Jackson's.
- 16:36SPEAKER_19: Well, so pay attention, so pay attention.
- 16:38SPEAKER_22: It's like that uh from the office.
- 16:41SPEAKER_22: Hi.
- 16:42SPEAKER_22: Uh we're the band.
- 16:45SPEAKER_22: Hey, is it's Danny Trajelio?
- 16:47SPEAKER_16: I love that guy.
- 16:50SPEAKER_16: Do us a favor.
- 16:52SPEAKER_16: Don't play loud.
- 16:53SPEAKER_16: I'm sorry, don't play loud.
- 16:55SPEAKER_16: We were told to Some of our customers are sensitive to loud noises.
- 17:02SPEAKER_16: Who's your drummer?
- 17:04SPEAKER_16: Brushes, not sticks, no loud crashes, no distortions, and no frickin' solos.
- 17:13SPEAKER_15: You can play ballads, you know, something soft.
- 17:19SPEAKER_15: Nice.
- 17:21SPEAKER_15: Just keep it civil.
- 17:36SPEAKER_13: What a dump.
- 17:37SPEAKER_23: You ask for it, mister.
- 17:38SPEAKER_23: We'll play any place people will have us.
- 17:41SPEAKER_13: Oh my god.
- 17:44SPEAKER_13: Wolf, we are your biggest fans.
- 17:46SPEAKER_13: Please put on rock show here.
- 17:48SPEAKER_13: It will kill.
- 17:50SPEAKER_18: Well, great.
- 17:50SPEAKER_18: Now we're the house bin in hell.
- 17:52SPEAKER_13: Alright guys, let's just play, get paid, and bounce.
- 17:55SPEAKER_13: Agreed, but what do we even play?
- 17:58SPEAKER_13: Well, you heard the guy.
- 18:00SPEAKER_13: Let's keep it civil.
- 18:39SPEAKER_19: Okay, so for those of you that don't uh don't know and and haven't seen the video, all of the audience are turning into zombies or werewolves.
- 18:46SPEAKER_22: Well, no, that looks like they're more turning into uh vampires.
- 18:49SPEAKER_19: Vampires, werewolves, werewolves kind of like thriller.
- 18:51SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 18:51SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 18:52SPEAKER_19: Okay, here we go.
- 19:00SPEAKER_19: See if you can spot the other cameos.
- 19:06SPEAKER_21: It can't, because the video froze.
- 19:08SPEAKER_21: It did, didn't it?
- 19:12SPEAKER_21: What's going on?
- 19:16SPEAKER_21: Too much rock for the video.
- 19:18SPEAKER_19: Apparently.
- 19:19SPEAKER_19: Alright.
- 19:20SPEAKER_19: This is the the guy from uh um uh Altar Bridge.
- 19:27SPEAKER_22: Miles Kennedy.
- 19:28SPEAKER_19: Miles Kennedy, thank you very much.
- 19:29SPEAKER_19: That doesn't look like him at all.
- 19:30SPEAKER_19: Yeah, it is.
- 19:32SPEAKER_19: Uh all right, let's see if the video will pick up now.
- 22:05SPEAKER_22: I gotta say you hood of it.
- 22:16SPEAKER_13: You sent me the invite to play here, didn't you?
- 22:19SPEAKER_19: Is that him?
- 22:20SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 22:20SPEAKER_13: You sent this whole thing.
- 22:21SPEAKER_19: They're all him.
- 22:22SPEAKER_13: So my band would get killed off, and I'd have no choice but to reform with you guys.
- 22:29SPEAKER_13: No.
- 22:31SPEAKER_13: That works too.
- 22:34SPEAKER_19: The joke there.
- 22:38SPEAKER_19: Hold on.
- 22:45SPEAKER_22: Oh, Robert Rodriguez.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry about your band.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: But I'm so glad you made it out alive.
- 22:57SPEAKER_00: And without even a scratch.
- 22:59SPEAKER_22: Oh, he's gonna do the Yes!
- 23:03SPEAKER_05: Yes! I love it!
- 23:06SPEAKER_22: That wasn't that cool.
- 23:08SPEAKER_22: That is the best video I've seen in a long time.
- 23:11SPEAKER_19: That was cool.
- 23:11SPEAKER_19: And the song is great.
- 23:12SPEAKER_19: The song is great.
- 23:13SPEAKER_19: And the and the I don't know if you noticed the the the rhythmic very edge Van Halen.
- 23:20SPEAKER_19: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 23:21SPEAKER_19: Well even the tapping, but I'm I'm talking the rhythm.
- 23:23SPEAKER_19: Yeah, the rhythm was definitely Van Halen.
- 23:25SPEAKER_19: Um and lots of references in there.
- 23:27SPEAKER_19: Of course, we saw the Hot for Teacher thing.
- 23:28SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 23:29SPEAKER_19: And you know, I think he's I think he's getting past the being compared to his dad, but he's also embracing the legacy.
- 23:41SPEAKER_19: Oh yeah.
- 23:42SPEAKER_19: Do you know what I mean?
- 23:42SPEAKER_21: Yeah.
- 23:43SPEAKER_19: I mean he's not gonna do any Van Halen songs in his set, which he shouldn't.
- 23:47SPEAKER_22: No.
- 23:47SPEAKER_19: You know?
- 23:48SPEAKER_19: But he can kind of tip his hat.
- 23:50SPEAKER_19: Oh yeah, absolutely.
- 23:52SPEAKER_22: That's definitely a great example.
- 23:54SPEAKER_19: Oh yeah, for sure.
- 23:55SPEAKER_22: No, that's a great that's great.
- 23:56SPEAKER_19: And what a voice on that kid.
- 23:58SPEAKER_19: My word.
- 23:59SPEAKER_19: Yeah, he's way better than his dad.
- 24:01SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 24:01SPEAKER_19: I mean, as far as singing, yeah.
- 24:03SPEAKER_22: Well, I was you know what I was hoping?
- 24:05SPEAKER_22: What?
- 24:05SPEAKER_22: When those people when they came up and rescued him, yeah.
- 24:09SPEAKER_13: For a second, for a split second.
- 24:11SPEAKER_22: I was hoping it was uh Cor uh uh Corey Feldman from uh Lost Boys.
- 24:17SPEAKER_22: Yes, and the other guy from Frog Brothers from Lost Boys.
- 24:20SPEAKER_22: Yeah, I was hoping it would be them.
- 24:22SPEAKER_19: I was like, But the joke there, and I think you got it, the joke there is because who saved him actually, who pulled him out of uh this chaos, were three clones of himself.
- 24:31SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 24:32SPEAKER_19: And you know, he's like, You want me you wanted my band to get killed so that I could be in the band with you guys.
- 24:39SPEAKER_19: And the joke is that on the mammoth albums, it's all he's playing all the instruments.
- 24:48SPEAKER_19: So that's that's pretty cool.
- 24:50SPEAKER_19: So I I wasn't sure if you had seen that or not.
- 24:53SPEAKER_22: No, I didn't see that.
- 24:53SPEAKER_22: That's great.
- 24:54SPEAKER_22: So that's that is great.
- 24:56SPEAKER_22: That is so good right now.
- 24:57SPEAKER_19: Okay, so this is another one.
- 24:59SPEAKER_19: I got a a tip that we should listen to this guy.
- 25:02SPEAKER_19: Okay.
- 25:03SPEAKER_19: Uh his name is Lemoyne Alexander.
- 25:06SPEAKER_19: Uh was it was a hip hop artist, I guess.
- 25:10SPEAKER_19: Okay.
- 25:10SPEAKER_19: Um and uh he's kind of crossing over to alternative rock, if you will.
- 25:18SPEAKER_19: Okay.
- 25:18SPEAKER_19: So uh this is a song called Insecurity.
- 25:21SPEAKER_19: This was uh put on YouTube seven months ago.
- 25:24SPEAKER_05: So I'm not the one you should give away a up to.
- 25:31SPEAKER_05: You should be wrong before I open my heart to you.
- 25:39SPEAKER_05: I'm not the same man I know I used to be.
- 25:47SPEAKER_05: Just won't go in, I'm understanding.
- 26:14SPEAKER_19: That's obviously a song called Insecurity.
- 26:16SPEAKER_19: That's kind of neat.
- 26:18SPEAKER_22: I like I like it.
- 26:19SPEAKER_22: I like it as well.
- 26:20SPEAKER_22: I mean, he's got a good voice.
- 26:21SPEAKER_22: I mean for uh you know, I don't know what he did for hip hop hip hop, but I mean he definitely can sing.
- 26:27SPEAKER_19: Right.
- 26:28SPEAKER_19: Let me this is another one of his.
- 26:29SPEAKER_19: This is called Perfect World.
- 26:56SPEAKER_05: Look around you, free DP change.
- 27:05SPEAKER_05: We built this world in memory.
- 27:08SPEAKER_05: We will play skills for those who have ever done it.
- 27:24SPEAKER_05: We can change all have something to take.
- 27:44SPEAKER_22: I like his sound.
- 27:45SPEAKER_22: And it it's it's gotta, it's it's very it's very laid back.
- 27:50SPEAKER_22: Yeah, you know what I mean?
- 27:51SPEAKER_22: It's not like it's like bah, you know, it's like it's just very it's just very smooth.
- 27:56SPEAKER_22: Yeah.
- 27:56SPEAKER_22: You know what I mean?
- 27:57SPEAKER_22: And it's the voice his voice is great.
- 27:59SPEAKER_22: Yeah, let me do one more.
- 28:00SPEAKER_22: Let me do one more.
- 28:01SPEAKER_19: I haven't heard this one.
- 28:02SPEAKER_19: This is a thousand words.
- 28:19SPEAKER_22: What would you call this alternative rock?
- 28:21SPEAKER_22: This you know what this this has like very strong RB vibe to me.
- 28:37SPEAKER_19: Definitely this one.
- 28:38SPEAKER_22: Yeah.
- 28:40SPEAKER_19: Like old R and B.
- 28:42SPEAKER_22: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:48SPEAKER_05: As for me, my world stop once you disappear.
- 29:00SPEAKER_19: Yeah, no, I dig it.
- 29:02SPEAKER_19: Yeah, I like it.
- 29:03SPEAKER_19: Lemoyne Alexander.
- 29:05SPEAKER_22: Yeah, I like this guy.
- 29:06SPEAKER_19: Um Yeah.
- 29:09SPEAKER_19: I won't tell you who I got the tip from, but uh yeah.
- 29:13SPEAKER_19: Um someone to follow.
- 29:15SPEAKER_19: Lemoyne Alexander.
- 29:16SPEAKER_19: I'm gonna probably find him.
- 29:18SPEAKER_19: Check out Instagram or something.
- 29:19SPEAKER_19: Yeah, man.
- 29:20SPEAKER_19: And find him.
- 29:21SPEAKER_19: Alright, so I was dialing around and I saw this video.
- 29:25SPEAKER_19: Um this video, let's see.
- 29:28SPEAKER_19: How old is this?
- 29:28SPEAKER_19: This was on put on the video or on the uh internet six years ago.
- 29:33SPEAKER_19: It seems longer than that.
- 29:35SPEAKER_19: Um six years ago, so let's see.
- 29:43SPEAKER_19: I guess yeah, I I guess it probably was six years ago because I guess Myra was the one that got the book.
- 29:48SPEAKER_19: This this uh this video convinced us to get a a book for our daughter when she was younger.
- 29:54SPEAKER_19: Okay.
- 29:55SPEAKER_19: And it was her favorite book.
- 29:58SPEAKER_19: And I asked you if you had read it or heard of it, and you had never heard of it.
- 30:03SPEAKER_19: Which prompted me to play this video for you because it's the book is hilarious.
- 30:09SPEAKER_19: It's the book is right up your alley.
- 30:11SPEAKER_19: It's called The Wonky Donkey.
- 30:14SPEAKER_22: Oh, I thought it was like it's a coloring book, so you can handle it.
- 30:17SPEAKER_19: No, it's no.
- 30:19SPEAKER_19: It's called The Wonky Donkey, and there's Stay in the Lines, Doug! And there's a whole uh now that now, six years later, there's a whole book series.
- 30:29SPEAKER_19: And there's a song, and I mean it's all it's all Wonky Donkey.
- 30:34SPEAKER_19: Wonky Donkey.
- 30:35SPEAKER_22: Literally I've never heard of it.
- 30:36SPEAKER_19: Okay, but what makes this video so cool is this is a grandma reading to her, uh, looks like maybe maybe 18 months actually no, maybe one year old, if that uh grandson.
- 30:49SPEAKER_19: But she's from Scotland.
- 30:51SPEAKER_19: So her accent is quite thick.
- 30:53SPEAKER_19: Okay.
- 30:54SPEAKER_19: And she actually actually sounds like Mrs.
- 30:55SPEAKER_19: Doubtfire reading the wonky donkey.
- 30:58SPEAKER_19: Okay.
- 30:59SPEAKER_19: But this video became famous.
- 31:00SPEAKER_19: It's got 5.1 million views.
- 31:02SPEAKER_19: Wow.
- 31:03SPEAKER_19: Um this video was viral uh for a long time.
- 31:06SPEAKER_19: And uh I just pay attention to the book itself.
- 31:10SPEAKER_19: I mean, pay attention to her because she just kind of loses it as she's reading it.
- 31:13SPEAKER_19: Okay.
- 31:14SPEAKER_19: So it's only about four minutes.
- 31:15SPEAKER_19: So uh and I I can't if I had the book, if I could find the book, it's here somewhere.
- 31:21SPEAKER_19: Uh I would read.
- 31:22SPEAKER_19: I would have read it to you.
- 31:24SPEAKER_19: Um because I swear it's right up your alley.
- 31:27SPEAKER_19: Okay.
- 31:28SPEAKER_19: Okay.
- 31:36SPEAKER_24: I was walking down the road and I saw a donkey, a bee.
- 31:47SPEAKER_24: A donkey! And he only had three legs.
- 31:52SPEAKER_24: He was a wonky donkey.
- 31:57SPEAKER_19: As soon as she gets into it, she's as she gets a kick out of it.
- 32:00SPEAKER_24: I was walking down the road and I saw a donkey, hee-ho.
- 32:04SPEAKER_24: He only had three legs and one eye.
- 32:06SPEAKER_24: He was a winky wonky donkey.
- 32:12SPEAKER_24: I was walking down the road and I saw a donkey.
- 32:15SPEAKER_24: Hee-ho! He only had three legs, one eye, and he liked to listen to country music.
- 32:20SPEAKER_24: He was a honky tonky winky wonky donkey.
- 32:26SPEAKER_18: Okay, she's laughing too.
- 32:27SPEAKER_24: Hold on, you gotta I think I like this book.
- 32:32SPEAKER_24: Bell and wheel.
- 32:34SPEAKER_24: I was walking down the road and I saw a donkey.
- 32:37SPEAKER_24: He ho! He liked one eye.
- 32:41SPEAKER_24: He liked to listen to country music.
- 32:44SPEAKER_24: Quite tall.
- 32:46SPEAKER_19: He was quite tall and slim.
- 32:47SPEAKER_24: He was a lanky honky donkey.
- 33:08SPEAKER_19: Lanky, honky tonky, winky wonky donkey.
- 33:16SPEAKER_24: Oh dear, I don't know how he likes.
- 33:28SPEAKER_24: What high?
- 33:29SPEAKER_24: He liked to listen to Kanty music and screamed all the time.
- 33:32SPEAKER_24: And he smelled really, really bad.
- 33:34SPEAKER_24: Oh dear.
- 33:36SPEAKER_24: He's a stinky dinky lanky.
- 33:39SPEAKER_24: Donkey winky.
- 33:48SPEAKER_24: Oh attack!
- 33:51SPEAKER_19: This is a stinky dinky.
- 33:52SPEAKER_19: Lanky, honky donkey, winky wonky donkey.
- 33:56SPEAKER_24: Oh dear.
- 33:58SPEAKER_24: Oh my gosh.
- 33:59SPEAKER_24: I was walking down the road and I saw a honky a donkey honky.
- 34:03SPEAKER_24: Hee ho! He only had three legs.
- 34:05SPEAKER_24: One eye.
- 34:06SPEAKER_24: He liked to listen to country music.
- 34:07SPEAKER_24: He was quite tall and slim.
- 34:09SPEAKER_24: He smelled really, really bad.
- 34:11SPEAKER_24: And that morning he got up early and hadn't had any coffee.
- 34:16SPEAKER_24: He was a cranky, stinky, dinky, lanky, honky, donky winky.
- 34:21SPEAKER_19: Am I wrong?
- 34:22SPEAKER_19: This book is right up your alley.
- 34:24SPEAKER_19: I wish I had read this book.
- 34:27SPEAKER_24: This is brilliant.
- 34:28SPEAKER_24: He was walking down the road and I I was walking down the road and I saw a donkey.
- 34:32SPEAKER_24: He ho.
- 34:33SPEAKER_24: He only had three legs, one eye.
- 34:35SPEAKER_24: He liked to listen to country music.
- 34:37SPEAKER_24: He was quite tall and slim.
- 34:39SPEAKER_24: Smelled really, really bad.
- 34:40SPEAKER_24: That morning he got up early and hadn't had any coffee.
- 34:44SPEAKER_24: And he was always getting up to mischief.
- 34:47SPEAKER_24: He was a hanky panky, cranky stinky dinky, lanky, honky, donkey, winky, wonky donky.
- 34:58SPEAKER_24: Oh, this is gonna kill me.
- 35:03SPEAKER_24: Nimia, I was walking down the road and there's a donkey.
- 35:07SPEAKER_24: Hee ho! He only had three legs, one eye.
- 35:11SPEAKER_24: He liked to listen to country music, he was quite tall and slim.
- 35:14SPEAKER_24: He smelled really, really bad.
- 35:15SPEAKER_24: That morning he got up early and hadn't had any coffee.
- 35:18SPEAKER_24: He was always getting up to mischief, but he was quite good looking.
- 35:22SPEAKER_24: He was a spunky, hanky, panky, canky, stinky dinky, lanky honky donkey.
- 35:28SPEAKER_24: Wait, you won't be a donkey! I have to finish this.
- 35:41SPEAKER_24: I was walking down the road and I saw a donkey.
- 35:45SPEAKER_24: Okay.
- 35:49SPEAKER_18: The end she kind of makes it, you know.
- 35:54SPEAKER_18: She does with that laugh, you know.
- 35:56SPEAKER_19: Her reaction.
- 35:56SPEAKER_19: And the accent is what kills me.
- 35:58SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 35:59SPEAKER_19: Um, that's funny.
- 36:00SPEAKER_19: If I can find that book, I'll I'll uh I'll lend it to you for some, you know, when you're sitting out on the lawn.
- 36:05SPEAKER_22: God is like, have you seen that guy that sits on in his on his lawn and is reading his children's book and he's laughing hysterically.
- 36:17SPEAKER_22: That's kind of crazy.
- 36:18SPEAKER_22: Should we call somebody?
- 36:22SPEAKER_19: Uh all right, so uh another topic.
- 36:25SPEAKER_19: And we don't have to uh well I suppose we can go into these uh bands.
- 36:29SPEAKER_19: Um but uh Ultimate Classic Rock had a list of five eighties bands that should have been bigger.
- 36:38SPEAKER_22: Okay.
- 36:39SPEAKER_19: And I thought we'd just kind of go over their list.
- 36:42SPEAKER_19: Uh we may not even have heard them, heard of them.
- 36:44SPEAKER_19: Um but a kind of a jumping off point to bands that we thought maybe should have been bigger.
- 36:50SPEAKER_19: Okay.
- 36:51SPEAKER_19: Um, so I'll just I'll just go through their list.
- 36:55SPEAKER_19: Uh their first one listed is the D Bs.
- 37:00SPEAKER_19: Again, I I I don't think I've ever heard of them.
- 37:03SPEAKER_19: I've I've not heard of them either.
- 37:05SPEAKER_19: Let's listen to a piece of their music.
- 37:06SPEAKER_19: This is Black and White.
- 37:50SPEAKER_06: I've done a job you and John.
- 37:59SPEAKER_06: What I guess it's all it makes it at all.
- 38:09SPEAKER_19: I like it.
- 38:10SPEAKER_22: Yeah.
- 38:10SPEAKER_22: It sounds like something that would be in a John Cusack movie.
- 38:14SPEAKER_19: It does.
- 38:17SPEAKER_19: Because it it was derivative, because there's a lot of stuff that sounded like that back then.
- 38:21SPEAKER_19: I don't I don't know.
- 38:21SPEAKER_19: I mean they sound good.
- 38:23SPEAKER_22: Does it give a year this came out?
- 38:24SPEAKER_19: Uh let's see.
- 38:25SPEAKER_19: The DB set an alt rock and power pop standard with their first two albums that the North Carolina rooted group struggled to match again.
- 38:33SPEAKER_19: That's because they lost Chris Stamy, the quirkier half of a songwriter duo duo.
- 38:38SPEAKER_19: Ooh! With smart rocker Peter Holsapple.
- 38:42SPEAKER_22: From uh REM.
- 38:43SPEAKER_19: No, Hootie and the Blue.
- 38:44SPEAKER_19: Well, he was with REM for a while, but he was in Hootie and the Bluefish.
- 38:47SPEAKER_19: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 38:47SPEAKER_19: He played uh keyboards.
- 38:48SPEAKER_19: Yeah, yeah.
- 38:49SPEAKER_19: Uh the DBs gamely carried on finally charting, uh, though only at 170 uh 171 with 1987's The Sound of Music.
- 38:59SPEAKER_19: By then they'd signed to a label that promptly folded, then the lineup had shifted again.
- 39:02SPEAKER_19: The DBs fell silent until roaring back in the in with 2012's very welcome reunion falling off the sky.
- 39:09SPEAKER_19: So that's Peter Holzapple.
- 39:11SPEAKER_19: I didn't realize that.
- 39:12SPEAKER_19: Um and and maybe that's why I mean they kind of sounded like a little REM or it was REM-ish.
- 39:20SPEAKER_22: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:22SPEAKER_19: Um good stuff though.
- 39:24SPEAKER_19: I I I like it.
- 39:25SPEAKER_19: Umskrudo.
- 39:28SPEAKER_19: Uh Who's Girdoo I'm familiar with.
- 39:30SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 39:31SPEAKER_19: Uh and they're kind of a cult.
- 39:34SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 40:01SPEAKER_22: Well, Dave Grohl had him sing on one of his on the on on a song on that album.
- 40:07SPEAKER_22: Um it's Rope is on that album.
- 40:13SPEAKER_19: Oh.
- 40:13SPEAKER_19: Uh the Midnight uh Is it Midnight um something?
- 40:18SPEAKER_19: Confessions?
- 40:19SPEAKER_19: No.
- 40:19SPEAKER_19: Midnight uh maybe I'm thinking of a different album.
- 40:22SPEAKER_19: No, let me But I guess what I was gonna say about Bob Mould and Hoosker Doo is although they didn't chart, they're uh credited with being really influential.
- 40:36SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 40:36SPEAKER_19: You know, to a lot of the a lot of the artists that came after them.
- 40:41SPEAKER_22: Let me see here.
- 40:42SPEAKER_22: Uh but da Wasting Light.
- 40:45SPEAKER_19: Wasting Light.
- 40:46SPEAKER_22: Oh, yeah, good album.
- 40:46SPEAKER_22: Good album.
- 40:47SPEAKER_22: That was a great album.
- 40:48SPEAKER_22: But yeah, the lead singer, he had the lead singer come on and do a song with him.
- 40:52SPEAKER_22: Uh on the from that album.
- 40:54SPEAKER_22: Uh I don't remember that, but that's cool.
- 40:56SPEAKER_19: Uh their third one is The Church.
- 40:59SPEAKER_19: Now I've heard of The Church.
- 41:01SPEAKER_19: Well, you know you know you know this song, Under the Milky Way.
- 41:05unknown: Yes.
- 41:05SPEAKER_19: Great song.
- 41:06SPEAKER_19: Yep.
- 41:06SPEAKER_19: Great song.
- 41:07SPEAKER_22: I haven't heard anything else from the church.
- 41:09SPEAKER_22: Nothing.
- 41:10SPEAKER_22: Zero.
- 41:10SPEAKER_22: Um, this is the first time I've heard this song in a long time.
- 41:14SPEAKER_19: Yeah, so this is from '88.
- 41:16SPEAKER_17: Sometimes when this place gets kind of empty.
- 41:23SPEAKER_17: Some of the breath fades with the line.
- 41:26SPEAKER_19: I'm gonna read this while this is on in the background.
- 41:28SPEAKER_19: So the church, this is interesting.
- 41:30SPEAKER_19: The church scored a bona fide hit with 1988's Under the Milky Way.
- 41:34SPEAKER_19: They just didn't seem all that interested in success.
- 41:38SPEAKER_19: The group was dropped by their U.S.
- 41:40SPEAKER_19: label after delivering a sophomore release that quickly veered from New Wave.
- 41:44SPEAKER_19: Later, their manager secured an opening spot on a 1982 UK tour with Duran Duran, but the church quit before the showcase could provide any commercial momentum.
- 41:54SPEAKER_19: The number 22 single later, uh excuse me, Under the Milky Way, a fever dream of psychedelia and gloss, underscored the distinctive musical evolution that followed, but then they fired their label's chosen producer and never returned to the Billboard Top 40.
- 42:09SPEAKER_19: Didn't say they broke up.
- 42:14SPEAKER_19: But I love this song.
- 42:15SPEAKER_19: Yeah, it's a great song.
- 42:20SPEAKER_17: Might have known what you would buy.
- 42:23SPEAKER_19: I suppose, yeah, I suppose they should have been bigger.
- 42:25SPEAKER_19: Uh oh, the replacements.
- 42:27SPEAKER_19: Oh, everybody loves the replacements.
- 42:29SPEAKER_19: The replacements, yeah.
- 42:30SPEAKER_19: Um let's see.
- 42:32SPEAKER_19: Let's just play it.
- 42:33SPEAKER_19: This one's called I'll Be You.
- 42:34SPEAKER_19: Paul Westerberg was a genius, is a genius.
- 42:37SPEAKER_22: Is he he's still alive, right?
- 42:39SPEAKER_22: Paul Westerberg?
- 42:40SPEAKER_22: Uh I haven't heard otherwise.
- 42:59SPEAKER_08: Yeah, he's still alive.
- 43:06SPEAKER_19: I will agree with this one.
- 43:07SPEAKER_19: I haven't disagreed with the other ones, but these guys should have been they should have been massively big.
- 43:39SPEAKER_19: Just great stuff.
- 43:39SPEAKER_19: Good stuff, the replacements.
- 43:41SPEAKER_19: Uh oh, the fixed.
- 43:43SPEAKER_19: Oh yeah.
- 43:44SPEAKER_19: Uh the fixed had the huge hit with uh one thing leads to another.
- 43:48SPEAKER_19: The one that they have on here is saved by zero.
- 43:51SPEAKER_19: I remember this song too.
- 43:53SPEAKER_22: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 44:24SPEAKER_19: I can agree with that, I guess.
- 44:26SPEAKER_19: Again, I haven't disagreed with any of them.
- 44:29SPEAKER_19: I think the replacements to me, the replacements.
- 44:32SPEAKER_22: I think out of that list, the replacements should have been the biggest.
- 44:36SPEAKER_22: I agree.
- 44:36SPEAKER_22: Yeah.
- 44:36SPEAKER_22: Yeah, I agree.
- 44:37SPEAKER_22: I mean, we should still be talking about the replacements, sure.
- 44:40SPEAKER_19: You know what I mean?
- 44:42SPEAKER_19: Um off the top of your head, can you think of any uh 80s bands that that should have been?
- 44:48SPEAKER_22: Well, I don't know if these guys are from the 80s.
- 44:50SPEAKER_22: I definitely know they're from the 90s, and it's a band that you and I love and uh Joel loves.
- 44:55SPEAKER_22: The refreshments, speaking of the replacements.
- 44:57SPEAKER_19: Oh, the refreshments.
- 44:57SPEAKER_19: We used to do the refreshments.
- 44:58SPEAKER_22: Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 45:00SPEAKER_22: I mean, they're a great band, and you know, they should be huge.
- 45:04SPEAKER_22: Because they they just come out with some great songs.
- 45:07SPEAKER_22: That was the one that we oh, right here.
- 45:08SPEAKER_19: This is the one we used to do.
- 45:09SPEAKER_19: Uh down together.
- 45:10SPEAKER_22: Yeah.
- 45:21SPEAKER_18: And they would be from the 90s, not the 80s.
- 45:23SPEAKER_18: Yeah, I know.
- 45:24SPEAKER_22: That's okay, though.
- 45:24SPEAKER_11: But yeah, no, I bet we could write our names here in the mud.
- 45:39SPEAKER_21: Shane did such a good job on this singing.
- 45:41SPEAKER_22: Shane nailed us every time.
- 45:42SPEAKER_11: We can hang our shoes here in a tree, no one's around to steal them.
- 45:48SPEAKER_11: I can give you a star, you can give me one too, and that way we even.
- 45:54SPEAKER_11: And I can sing a song way out of tune, and I care a bit about it.
- 46:03SPEAKER_19: So they are they're not together anymore, but we can both Roger Klein is still making music uh with Roger Klein and the peacemakers.
- 46:13SPEAKER_22: Um they were as far as I'm concerned.
- 46:19SPEAKER_22: Yeah, I agree.
- 46:23SPEAKER_19: Okay, if we're going, if we're going uh any because from the 80s, I mean I I mean there's so many The only one that I can think well, I'm sure I could come up with more if I really thought about it.
- 46:34SPEAKER_19: But um one that pops in my head uh from the 80s that I thought should have been bigger, they had maybe two hits is uh this one.
- 46:45SPEAKER_19: Canada from Canada Glass Tiger.
- 46:49SPEAKER_06: Oh yes.
- 47:03SPEAKER_19: I thought they should have been bigger.
- 47:05SPEAKER_19: They had this song and then they had one called Someday.
- 47:07SPEAKER_19: Oh yeah, someday's a great song.
- 47:09SPEAKER_19: Yep.
- 47:10SPEAKER_19: This one has Brian Adams in it.
- 47:12SPEAKER_19: Did you know that?
- 47:15SPEAKER_19: Did I?
- 47:16SPEAKER_19: I don't know.
- 47:17SPEAKER_22: Let's see, because let me let me forward to Yes, yes I did because he comes in on the end, right?
- 47:23SPEAKER_19: Yeah, yeah.
- 47:24SPEAKER_19: But he was re he was recording in the same studio, so he came in and and sang on it.
- 47:35SPEAKER_22: I don't know if he's in the video or not, but you can hear him definitely in the background.
- 47:40SPEAKER_21: Right here, maybe yeah, right there.
- 47:45SPEAKER_21: Yeah, that's Brian Adam.
- 47:50SPEAKER_22: You know, nobody does that anymore.
- 47:52SPEAKER_22: What?
- 47:53SPEAKER_22: The keyboard players, they don't have like six or seven keyboards like lined up, you know, stacked up anymore.
- 47:58SPEAKER_19: I know.
- 47:58SPEAKER_22: It's kind of like I know, it's kind of I wish that somebody would get back into that.
- 48:03SPEAKER_19: I want to play a band that I think should be bigger than from today.
- 48:08SPEAKER_19: Actually, I'm blanking on the name of the code.
- 48:24SPEAKER_19: These guys should be bigger.
- 48:30SPEAKER_19: Oh yeah.
- 48:36SPEAKER_19: This is last in line.
- 48:39SPEAKER_19: So essentially, this is from the first album, Heavy Crown.
- 48:43SPEAKER_19: So essentially, this is Dio without Dio.
- 48:48SPEAKER_22: Exactly.
- 48:49SPEAKER_22: Yeah.
- 48:50SPEAKER_19: Yeah, these guys are awesome.
- 48:51SPEAKER_19: This is Dio's Ronnie James Dio's backing band, Vivian Campbell, um Carmine is it Carmine a piece?
- 48:57SPEAKER_19: Vinny a piece, Carmine.
- 48:58SPEAKER_19: Carmine, yeah.
- 49:00SPEAKER_19: Um, and the bass player, I forgot his name.
- 49:02SPEAKER_19: Sorry, he passed away, unfortunately.
- 49:04SPEAKER_19: Uh, and then um Freeman is the lead singer.
- 49:10SPEAKER_19: But the albums, they put out three or four albums already.
- 49:13SPEAKER_19: And they're all no, they're all awesome.
- 49:15SPEAKER_19: Just kick butt.
- 49:31SPEAKER_18: Here's one from the second album.
- 49:47SPEAKER_19: That's not really a good representation of there.
- 49:50SPEAKER_22: Actually, Jericho's on this one, right?
- 49:52SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 49:53SPEAKER_22: Yeah, that song takes buttons.
- 49:55SPEAKER_19: Jericho's off the third album.
- 49:56SPEAKER_19: So is that the third album?
- 49:57SPEAKER_22: Yeah.
- 49:57SPEAKER_19: Walls of Jericho.
- 49:58SPEAKER_19: Is that what you're talking about?
- 49:59SPEAKER_19: So here's so this is off the third album.
- 50:08SPEAKER_19: So technically, this is Vivian Campbell's side project from Def Leopard.
- 50:15SPEAKER_19: Right.
- 50:15SPEAKER_18: Uh, I think they should be huge.
- 50:17SPEAKER_18: Oh, they should be massive.
- 51:01SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 51:03SPEAKER_19: Uh look them up.
- 51:04SPEAKER_22: I know I know when I got into these guys, there was another band I got into uh called Eclipse.
- 51:09SPEAKER_22: Oh.
- 51:10SPEAKER_22: I have Eclipse.
- 51:10SPEAKER_22: Yeah.
- 51:11SPEAKER_22: I think they they should be big too.
- 51:13SPEAKER_22: They're Swedish.
- 51:15SPEAKER_22: Yes.
- 51:15SPEAKER_22: Um I think they're off Frontier.
- 51:18SPEAKER_22: Yeah, if I are on Frontier's record.
- 51:20SPEAKER_19: I have one album from Eclipse.
- 51:22SPEAKER_19: Let me do this one right here.
- 51:28SPEAKER_19: Is it this one that I want or is it caught up in a rush?
- 51:31SPEAKER_19: Caught up in a rush is a good one.
- 51:33SPEAKER_19: Let me do this one.
- 51:33SPEAKER_19: Yeah, caught up in a rush.
- 52:18SPEAKER_19: Just great vocals, yeah.
- 52:22SPEAKER_19: Just straight up walk, yeah.
- 52:29SPEAKER_22: Sorry, Black.
- 52:30SPEAKER_22: Sorry, Black or Children.
- 52:51unknown: Yeah.
- 52:52SPEAKER_19: Just straight up rock.
- 52:54SPEAKER_19: Man, I mean I don't listen to music enough.
- 52:58SPEAKER_22: Yeah, it's har it's hard, man.
- 52:59SPEAKER_22: Have you been listening to a lot of music lately?
- 53:01SPEAKER_22: Well, I got the new uh Richie Cotson, Adrian Smith album.
- 53:04SPEAKER_19: Yeah, yeah.
- 53:06SPEAKER_19: It's not good.
- 53:06SPEAKER_22: I mean it's okay, but it's nothing nothing to write home about.
- 53:10SPEAKER_22: Really?
- 53:10SPEAKER_22: Yeah.
- 53:11SPEAKER_22: I was I was I was disappointed.
- 53:12SPEAKER_22: Yeah.
- 53:13SPEAKER_22: So I've got all these things.
- 53:14SPEAKER_22: But the new Paul Thorne is really good.
- 53:16SPEAKER_22: I mean, that guy's that guy's just solid.
- 53:18SPEAKER_19: I have that one.
- 53:19SPEAKER_22: Every album that guy puts out.
- 53:20SPEAKER_19: I bought it right after we featured it in the club.
- 53:21SPEAKER_22: Yeah, I did too.
- 53:22SPEAKER_22: I was just like, man, we got all this there.
- 53:24SPEAKER_19: Paul Thorn.
- 53:25SPEAKER_19: Alright.
- 53:26SPEAKER_19: So let's move on.
- 53:28SPEAKER_19: Let's do uh what do we do?
- 53:29SPEAKER_19: What do we with the new uh the new theme song?
- 53:39SPEAKER_22: Yes.
- 53:39SPEAKER_22: I'm kind of liking it, man.
- 53:40SPEAKER_22: Me too.
- 53:40SPEAKER_22: House of Pain.
- 53:41SPEAKER_22: Yeah.
- 53:42SPEAKER_10: Alright.
- 53:43SPEAKER_10: Alright.
- 53:44SPEAKER_19: So I think I came up with something because you came in and I was like, I don't remember last week's question.
- 53:50SPEAKER_19: Right.
- 53:51SPEAKER_19: So I I think I came up with something, but uh it's probably not gonna.
- 53:56SPEAKER_19: I don't know.
- 53:57SPEAKER_19: Well, we're gonna do the pass first.
- 53:58SPEAKER_22: Yes.
- 54:00SPEAKER_22: Okay, so I talked to our lovely judge earlier, and I gotta scroll, scroll, scroll.
- 54:07SPEAKER_22: Okay.
- 54:12SPEAKER_22: So she says, I appreciated Cousin Larry's honorary mention, Waking the Demon.
- 54:17SPEAKER_22: I love that song.
- 54:18SPEAKER_22: All the picks were awesome and really fitting.
- 54:20SPEAKER_22: Honestly, it was a hard pick between Mama Said Knock You Out and Velvet Revolver.
- 54:25SPEAKER_22: Although I'm not a hip hop person, I'm more metal slash rock.
- 54:28SPEAKER_22: I went with Mama Said Knock You Out.
- 54:30SPEAKER_22: I laughed as soon as I heard it.
- 54:32SPEAKER_22: It was perfect.
- 54:33SPEAKER_22: So there we go.
- 54:35SPEAKER_22: There you go.
- 54:36SPEAKER_22: I totally agreed with it.
- 54:38SPEAKER_19: Works for me.
- 54:39SPEAKER_22: I was like, I was like, yeah, it was so good.
- 54:40SPEAKER_22: I was mad I didn't think of it first.
- 54:42SPEAKER_22: So but yeah.

- 54:52SPEAKER_22: Oh, that's right, that's right, that's right.
- 54:55SPEAKER_19: Uh alright, so this week.
- 54:58SPEAKER_22: So this week was uh Best Monday morning work song.
- 55:05unknown: Yeah.
- 55:06SPEAKER_22: So I heard from Cousin Larry.
- 55:08SPEAKER_18: Okay.
- 55:09SPEAKER_22: So Cousin Larry says, mixtape.
- 55:11SPEAKER_22: The first song I thought of was I Don't Like Mondays by the Boomtown Rats.
- 55:15SPEAKER_22: But it's about a school shooting, so I crossed that off a list.
- 55:18SPEAKER_22: Yeah.
- 55:18SPEAKER_22: Monday Monday by the Mamas and Papas was the next one I thought of.
- 55:22SPEAKER_22: And also Manic Monday by the Bengals.
- 55:25SPEAKER_22: But I have I I've got to go with Rainy Days and Mondays by the Carpenters.
- 55:29SPEAKER_22: Oh wow.
- 55:29SPEAKER_22: It's just a melancholy song and no nostalgic for me.
- 55:34SPEAKER_22: Honorable mention goes to Thank God It's Monday by No Effects for Doug, as he no longer has to work on Mondays.
- 55:42SPEAKER_19: Alright, let me do this here.
- 55:44SPEAKER_22: Let me do a little bit of Yeah, you can't go wrong with a carpenter's man, oh man.
- 55:55SPEAKER_22: Yeah.
- 56:04SPEAKER_14: Talking to myself and feeling old.
- 56:10SPEAKER_14: Sometimes I'd like to.
- 56:12SPEAKER_19: I'm just picturing you sitting out in your yard for three hours listening to Karen Carpenter.
- 56:19SPEAKER_14: Nothing to do but fight.
- 56:22SPEAKER_22: Watching just waving to people go by.
- 56:33SPEAKER_22: Are you going to work?
- 56:35SPEAKER_22: Bye!
- 56:38SPEAKER_06: See you later.
- 56:40SPEAKER_06: Have a good day!
- 56:41SPEAKER_19: If you could see what I'm seeing.
- 56:47SPEAKER_22: Alright, what's yours?
- 56:48SPEAKER_22: Everybody would be like, I hate that freaking dungeon.
- 56:51SPEAKER_22: Guy's a jerk.

- 57:12SPEAKER_22: And uh I freaking love that song.
- 57:15SPEAKER_22: So I I I could just, you know, drive to work and listen to Code Monkey.
- 57:20SPEAKER_22: You know, just to try to, you know, like get into a good mood.

- 58:35SPEAKER_22: That's that's about zombies.
- 58:38SPEAKER_22: That's a hilarious song too.

- 1:01:25SPEAKER_19: Yeah, he's really great, man.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_19: I'm gonna follow him too.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_19: That's the thing about this podcast, man.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_19: Sometimes we just kind of learn all kinds of stuff.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_19: So um so yours was Code Monkey.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_19: Code Monkey from Jonathan.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_19: Um before we started.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_19: I didn't really have time.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_19: I don't have a happy bang my head.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_19: I feel like banging my head again.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_19: Um I I came up with a feel, like a vibe to get me through at least the first few hours of Monday.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_19: Uh so it's not it's not funny.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_19: It's not uh it doesn't really apply to Monday in particular, but this is the song that I thought of when I think of going to work on on Monday morning.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_04: And it's an evening I shared with the sun to find out where we belong from the earliest day We were dancing in the shadow.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_19: So this is Lakini's juice from the band live.
- 1:03:47SPEAKER_22: Yeah, I haven't heard this song forever, man.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_19: Uh, it's just that.
- 1:03:53SPEAKER_19: Just that groove and that guitar.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_19: It's like banging my head against a desk.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_19: I'm just gonna let it get to the chorus.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_19: Uh maybe I'll go forward.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_19: That's a band that should have been bigger.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_19: It really should have.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_19: They were they had their day, they had their you know, their success, but they should have been way bigger than they were.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_19: And again, it really doesn't have anything to do with Monday, but uh it's just the vibe.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_19: The vibe.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_19: And it was a last minute one.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_19: So I just thought of it.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_19: I just thought of it.
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_19: Um I could have gone, I could have gone with Come Monday by Jimmy Buffett, but I decided not to.
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_19: Um I could have gone with uh, you know what I what else?
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_19: Uh honorable mention to um No, never mind, that's not gonna work.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_19: Um, I'm just gonna go with that one.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_19: Okay.
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_19: Okay, so so Cousin Larry had the Carpenter's Rainy Days and Mondays.
- 1:05:21SPEAKER_19: Yes.
- 1:05:21SPEAKER_19: You had Jonathan Colton Code Monkey, and mine was live with Latini Juice.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_22: You're trying to leave Las Vegas, but your plane is five hours delayed.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_22: People watching is paramount.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_22: Have any money left?
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_22: And I'm pretty sure I have an STB now.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_22: Cause it hurts when I pee.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_22: The buffet is good.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_22: I like buffets, but I wish it wouldn't hurt when I pee.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_22: Stupid twenty dollar prostitute.
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_22: That really sucked.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_22: It was twenty dollars, guts all I had left after I doubled down on Black Jack.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_22: I should really learn how to play Black Jack.
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_22: It's nothing like war at all.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_22: That's the leaving Las Vegas songs.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_19: The leaving Las Vegas song.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_19: Alright.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_19: We're gonna take Oh no, did we do the future question?
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_19: Did we do the future question?
- 1:07:13SPEAKER_19: Yeah, that was the future question.
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_19: That was the future question.
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_19: Sorry, I got caught up in the piano.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_19: Yeah.

- 1:08:56SPEAKER_19: Doug's gonna read from the Beatles book.
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_22: I'm gonna read stuff.
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_22: What song?
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_22: What uh Birthday!
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_19: Birthday, oh, okay.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_22: Yes.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_22: Yeah.
- 1:09:04SPEAKER_22: So here we go.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_22: From the White Album.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_22: The songs on the Beatles composed in India tended to be guitar-based because the Beatles only had stringed instruments with them while they were away.
- 1:09:17SPEAKER_22: However, Birthday was written in Abbey Road Studios on September 18, 1968, with Paul thumping out the basic tune on a piano.
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_22: According to John, Paul had been thinking of Happy Happy Birthday, a 1957 hit in America for the Toon Weavers, but wanted to produce something which sounded contemporary and rock and roll.
- 1:09:38SPEAKER_22: It was also Linda Eastman's 26th birthday in six days' time, and Paul knew she was arriving in London the following week just in time to celebrate.
- 1:09:47SPEAKER_22: Paul went in the studio during the late afternoon, the 18th, and worked out the basic keyboard riff.
- 1:09:54SPEAKER_22: Later, John George, John, and Ringo came in and added a backing track.
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_22: During the evening, the four of them took a break and went around to Paul's house to watch the British television premiere of The Girl Can't Help It, 1956, which starred Jane Mansfield and featured music by Fats Domino, Gene Vincent, the Trainers, The Platters, Little Richard, and Eddie Cochran.
- 1:10:16SPEAKER_22: Perhaps inspired by this dose of early rock and roll, the Beatles returned to the studio around 11 p.m.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_22: and completed the vocals.
- 1:10:23SPEAKER_22: Each of the Beatles threw in lines, and Yoko Owen Patty Harrison helped with the backing.
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_19: That's unfortunate.
- 1:10:29SPEAKER_22: That is unfortunate.
- 1:10:31SPEAKER_22: I used to like this song.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_22: Uh we just made up words in the studio, said Paul.
- 1:10:38SPEAKER_22: It was one of my favorite tracks on the album because it was instantaneous.
- 1:10:41SPEAKER_22: It's a good one to dance to.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_22: John's opinion, volunte volunteered 12 years later, was par for the course.
- 1:10:48SPEAKER_22: It's a piece of garbage.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_22: I like this song, I know.
- 1:10:54SPEAKER_19: Yeah, me too.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_22: Body body.
- 1:10:58SPEAKER_10: Don't do it, body body.
- 1:11:01SPEAKER_19: And every morning radio jock uses this for the birthday club or a birthday club.
- 1:11:06SPEAKER_22: Well, I I only chose it because it's my birthday on Thursday.
- 1:11:09SPEAKER_22: So I was like, I was like, I gotta do it, man.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_19: This is true.
- 1:11:14SPEAKER_19: I still haven't figured out what I'm gonna give you.
- 1:11:18SPEAKER_19: But I'll make it good.
- 1:11:27SPEAKER_19: Alright.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_22: You're gonna be what, 52?
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_22: 53.
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_22: 53.
- 1:11:31SPEAKER_22: 53!
- 1:11:33SPEAKER_18: 53.
- 1:11:34SPEAKER_22: And I feel like P.
- 1:11:39SPEAKER_22: I was trying to think something right with three.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_22: 53.
- 1:11:42SPEAKER_21: 53, and I look like a tree.
- 1:11:47SPEAKER_21: Alright.
- 1:11:48SPEAKER_21: I have an album.
- 1:11:52SPEAKER_19: Let's no idea what it is.
- 1:11:53SPEAKER_22: The guessing begin.
- 1:11:55SPEAKER_22: Is it a band?
- 1:11:56SPEAKER_18: You just saw it.
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_19: Yes.
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_19: Yes, I think.
- 1:11:58SPEAKER_22: I did it.
- 1:11:58SPEAKER_22: Yeah.
- 1:11:59SPEAKER_22: Keep going.
- 1:12:00SPEAKER_22: Crap, I missed it.
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_22: Should have been paying attention.
- 1:12:03SPEAKER_22: So it's a band.
- 1:12:04SPEAKER_22: It is a band.
- 1:12:04SPEAKER_22: Okay.
- 1:12:05SPEAKER_22: Height of popularity.
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_19: Uh 80s.
- 1:12:07SPEAKER_19: Okay.
- 1:12:08SPEAKER_22: Is it a rock band?
- 1:12:09SPEAKER_22: Yeah.
- 1:12:12SPEAKER_22: Flat?
- 1:12:13SPEAKER_22: Is it journey?
- 1:12:13SPEAKER_22: Yeah.
- 1:12:17SPEAKER_22: Like an idiot.
- 1:12:19SPEAKER_22: I thought you scrolled past it.
- 1:12:20SPEAKER_22: No, no.
- 1:12:21SPEAKER_19: Like an idiot.
- 1:12:23SPEAKER_19: Before you start guessing, I bring it up in my iTunes and it says right there on top, journey.
- 1:12:30SPEAKER_21: I was like, nah, it can't be this easy.
- 1:12:33SPEAKER_21: And I look at you, I'm like, oh crap, you saw it.
- 1:12:36SPEAKER_22: Well, I saw you scrolled.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_22: I was like, oh, okay, well, because then you you were scrolling.
- 1:12:40SPEAKER_22: I was like, okay, I you And I was like, oh, okay, so we scrolled past it.
- 1:12:44SPEAKER_22: Can't be that.
- 1:12:44SPEAKER_22: And you just kept going.
- 1:12:45SPEAKER_19: I was like, no.
- 1:12:47SPEAKER_19: I probably should have just played along.
- 1:12:49SPEAKER_22: You should have played.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_22: No, it's not a journey at all, though.
- 1:12:52SPEAKER_19: So here is the album, though.
- 1:12:53SPEAKER_19: This is the first album with uh Arnell Paneda.
- 1:12:56SPEAKER_19: Oh, that's a good one.
- 1:12:57SPEAKER_19: I thought it was too.
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 1:12:59SPEAKER_19: Um they since have released kind of Stinkers.
- 1:13:02SPEAKER_19: Yeah, they're with Arnell Pana.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_22: I hate to say it, but this was kind of like the best one.
- 1:13:07SPEAKER_19: I agree.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_19: Yeah, I I don't like what they did uh because this is a two-album set.
- 1:13:13SPEAKER_22: Yeah.
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_19: Um they went and recorded their greatest hits over again.
- 1:13:20SPEAKER_19: Yeah.
- 1:13:20SPEAKER_19: With Arnell Pineda on vocals.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_19: And he does a fine job.
- 1:13:24SPEAKER_19: Oh yeah.
- 1:13:25SPEAKER_19: And I I think I know why they did it record company.
- 1:13:30SPEAKER_19: Because people do that.
- 1:13:31SPEAKER_19: Um Def Leopard did that, I think, with a couple of their albums to get their albums back.
- 1:13:36SPEAKER_22: Yeah, I thought it was my I thought it was like a Taylor Swift thing.
- 1:13:39SPEAKER_19: Yeah, like a protest thing or something in order so that they could they could sell their greatest hits.
- 1:13:44SPEAKER_19: Uh, you know, part of it was to introduce their new lead singer, um, who is great, he's fantastic.
- 1:13:50SPEAKER_19: Oh yeah, he's really good.
- 1:13:51SPEAKER_19: Um but the original album that they paired it with, which is called Revelation, I thought was fantastic.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_19: I mean, there's uh there's only maybe one stinker on it, and it's not not even much of a stinker.
- 1:14:08SPEAKER_19: Actually, as I'm looking at it, I don't think there is a stinker on it.
- 1:14:13SPEAKER_19: I don't I don't recall.
- 1:14:14SPEAKER_22: Oh, there it is.
- 1:14:16SPEAKER_22: Did we do Journey?
- 1:14:17SPEAKER_22: Yeah, we've done Journey.
- 1:14:18SPEAKER_22: This is this is only the second time that's surprisingly.
- 1:14:20SPEAKER_22: I don't think we've done this album.
- 1:14:21SPEAKER_22: No, I don't think so either.
- 1:14:22SPEAKER_19: Um but it's was this on Frontiers?
- 1:14:29SPEAKER_19: I don't know.
- 1:14:30SPEAKER_19: I can't I don't think that was Frontiers.
- 1:14:33SPEAKER_19: It's not Frontiers.
- 1:14:34SPEAKER_19: Yeah, it's not Frontiers.
- 1:14:35SPEAKER_19: Um but I just it's good.
- 1:14:40SPEAKER_19: Uh this is a song called Never Walk Away.
- 1:14:49SPEAKER_19: I mean, if you like if you like Journey, you can't not like this album.
- 1:14:54SPEAKER_19: Yeah, agree.
- 1:15:48SPEAKER_19: Right?
- 1:15:49SPEAKER_19: But I mean that's a sound.
- 1:15:51SPEAKER_22: Yeah, it's yeah, yeah, it's it's not a I mean you can't put that into this.
- 1:15:56SPEAKER_22: I mean it's just it's just it's reminiscent of Yeah, you know.
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_18: I agree.
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_19: Um I don't wanna play all of them, but I mean I'll just pick a few of my this one's called Like a Sunflower.
- 1:16:19SPEAKER_06: Girls tell me what's wrong.
- 1:16:22SPEAKER_06: I thought Steve.
- 1:16:28SPEAKER_06: What's going on?
- 1:16:31SPEAKER_06: It's weird.
- 1:16:36SPEAKER_06: I'm gonna do it.
- 1:16:39SPEAKER_06: I don't care if it's taste.
- 1:17:22SPEAKER_18: I I like it, I love it.
- 1:17:24SPEAKER_18: Um this wildest dream.
- 1:17:40SPEAKER_22: This always reminded me of higher something wild song.
- 1:17:44SPEAKER_19: Oh yeah, yeah, because of the start.
- 1:18:17SPEAKER_19: Just catchy choruses.
- 1:18:19SPEAKER_19: Yeah, come on.
- 1:18:21SPEAKER_19: Um, and then of course, this h this there's two big ballads on this album.
- 1:18:29SPEAKER_19: Uh they don't disappoint.
- 1:18:40SPEAKER_18: This is called After All These Years.
- 1:18:43SPEAKER_18: Very faithfully.
- 1:18:45SPEAKER_06: Yeah, wait a photo and meet our first hands.
- 1:18:53SPEAKER_06: Her eyes are closed, we're lost in once we raise Since those days the world has changed.
- 1:19:04SPEAKER_06: Our love remains the same God knows if I share up saving And I'm proud of one The mountains we've climbed and get this laughter with the teas after all these years.
- 1:19:43SPEAKER_19: I mean Yeah.
- 1:19:44SPEAKER_19: That's that's basically Yeah, it's like a footprint, right?
- 1:19:48SPEAKER_19: Um there I guess I said there was no stinkers.
- 1:19:51SPEAKER_19: If I had to pick a stinker, it would be it would be this one.
- 1:19:55SPEAKER_19: This will be the last one I play.
- 1:19:56SPEAKER_19: Um the only reason I say it's a stinker is because the lyrics are uh I understand what they were trying to do, but the lyrics are pretty dumb.
- 1:20:07SPEAKER_22: Okay.
- 1:20:08SPEAKER_19: Um, I mean I can see this as a uh warm-up song for a basketball team.
- 1:20:19SPEAKER_19: Um called What It Takes to Win.
- 1:20:23SPEAKER_22: Oh, yeah.
- 1:20:24SPEAKER_19: And I like the music and I like the idea, but the words are kind of just lame.
- 1:20:30SPEAKER_19: Uh so I'll play a little bit of that one.
- 1:21:58SPEAKER_19: You see what I mean?
- 1:21:58SPEAKER_19: Yeah, I mean yeah, it's good.
- 1:22:00SPEAKER_19: It's the music is good.
- 1:22:02SPEAKER_19: And the idea of it, I guess.
- 1:22:03SPEAKER_19: But uh day has come, you're prepared, electricity in the air.
- 1:22:07SPEAKER_19: Feel the calm, feel the rush.
- 1:22:09SPEAKER_19: You want to leave victorious.
- 1:22:11SPEAKER_19: Will you look in their eyes?
- 1:22:12SPEAKER_19: They want you gone, they want to take the prize.
- 1:22:15SPEAKER_19: When day is done, risk it all.
- 1:22:17SPEAKER_19: One will stand and one will fall.
- 1:22:19SPEAKER_22: Yeah, it's a good thing.
- 1:22:19SPEAKER_19: Yeah, and the second verse, seal the deal, get it done.
- 1:22:22SPEAKER_19: Earn the right to say you've won.
- 1:22:24SPEAKER_19: Work it out, sacrifice.
- 1:22:26SPEAKER_19: Someone's gonna have to pay the price.
- 1:22:28SPEAKER_19: Face to face, stand your ground, stay in the zone, now don't back down.
- 1:22:31SPEAKER_19: More than pride, you depend, fighting hard till the very end.
- 1:22:34SPEAKER_19: It's almost like they had a rhyming dictionary.
- 1:22:35SPEAKER_19: Or or like a like a thesaurus.
- 1:22:38SPEAKER_22: What it sounds like is like we have music and we need one more song on the album.
- 1:22:42SPEAKER_19: Right.
- 1:22:44SPEAKER_19: Uh it's a good message.
- 1:22:45SPEAKER_19: When you learn to lose, you'll know what it takes to win.
- 1:22:47SPEAKER_19: I get it.
- 1:22:48SPEAKER_19: You wanna want to go to the distance with a hunger that never ends?
- 1:22:51SPEAKER_19: When you want to prove you're the best that's ever been, they can knock you down.
- 1:22:54SPEAKER_19: You're on when you're on your feet on when you're on your feet again, because you know what it takes, what it takes to win.
- 1:22:59SPEAKER_19: Good message.
- 1:22:59SPEAKER_19: Um just kinda.
- 1:23:02SPEAKER_19: Um again, I would listen to it.
- 1:23:05SPEAKER_19: I wouldn't I wouldn't go past it.
- 1:23:06SPEAKER_19: There's but if I had to pick a stinker.
- 1:23:08SPEAKER_22: Yeah, just if if you just ignore, you know, the lameness of the lyrics, you're alright.
- 1:23:12SPEAKER_19: Yeah, if I had to pick a stinker, that would be it.
- 1:23:14SPEAKER_19: That would be it.
- 1:23:15SPEAKER_22: I mean, I'm gonna say this right now.
- 1:23:17SPEAKER_22: If you need hype music, the only soundtrack you need is Rocky IV.
- 1:23:22SPEAKER_22: No question.
- 1:23:22SPEAKER_22: That's it.
- 1:23:23SPEAKER_19: No question.
- 1:23:24SPEAKER_19: Done.
- 1:23:24SPEAKER_19: Yep.
- 1:23:24SPEAKER_22: I don't care.
