- 1:47Speaker 1: just go to hardrock.bet backslash clay. Uh, LT huge NFL fan,
- 1:55Speaker 1: some upsets in week one. Uh, I don't know how
- 1:58Speaker 1: much perception changes just after one loss, but it does
- 2:02Speaker 1: seem like some people not believing in the chargers, some
- 2:07Speaker 1: people believing more in the giants than they were going
- 2:11Speaker 1: into the season. So let's do some buy and sells
- 2:14Speaker 1: and maybe look at some wind totals. Um, as we
- 2:17Speaker 1: bounce through this, start us off, man, give us a
- 2:19Speaker 1: buyer sell team and, uh, a win total right now
- 2:22Speaker 1: that you want to throw out at us?
- 2:23Speaker 2: Well, I think a lot of people out there right
- 2:25Speaker 2: now didn't believe in the Jacksonville Jaguars. And look, I
- 2:29Speaker 2: know it was Cleveland, so it's kind of still hard
- 2:31Speaker 2: to get a gauge. They were at home against Deshaun Watson,
- 2:33Speaker 2: a guy that we really haven't seen in years, at
- 2:37Speaker 2: least starting week one of an NFL season. But they
- 2:40Speaker 2: were dominant. And since their trip to London last year
- 2:43Speaker 2: where they got dismantled by the Rams, that Liam Cohen
- 2:46Speaker 2: offense and the relationship with Trevor Lawrence has really popped.
- 2:49Speaker 2: I don't know what they were before this season. I
- 2:51Speaker 2: want to say it was nine and a half. But
- 2:54Speaker 2: I would feel pretty good about Jacksonville based on how
- 2:56Speaker 2: the Titans looked. They've got them twice. How the Colts look.
- 3:00Speaker 2: They've got them twice. Yeah.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Jacksonville was eight and a half.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:04Speaker 1: And you can currently the current odds that I see
- 3:09Speaker 1: for the Jags right now. A lot of them at
- 3:11Speaker 1: nine and a half.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Yeah. So there's it like last year. I don't know
- 3:14Speaker 2: how many jump this year. But of the 32 team
- 3:16Speaker 2: totals after one week, 14 changed. I would buy.
- 3:20Speaker 1: I think I would buy them at nine and a half.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Are we buying on whether it's a playoff team or
- 3:23Speaker 1: the win total?
- 3:24Speaker 2: The win total.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Can they get over nine and a half wins? Okay,
- 3:26Speaker 1: I'll buy the win total at nine and a half.
- 3:29Speaker 1: But I still don't think it's a playoff team.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Who's going to win that division?
- 3:34Speaker 1: You think Houston's going to win that division?
- 3:35Speaker 2: Houston's going to win that division. But it's one of two.
- 3:38Speaker 2: And I wouldn't be surprised right now with the uncertainty
- 3:41Speaker 2: in the West. We don't know what we're getting with
- 3:43Speaker 2: the Chargers. I know it's week one. But the way
- 3:46Speaker 2: Denver looked like, is there a possibility that one team
- 3:48Speaker 2: comes out of the West? If that's the case, then
- 3:51Speaker 2: there's only one team that's going to come out of, well,
- 3:54Speaker 2: I'd say that. Cincinnati and Baltimore possibly could. That's right.
- 3:57Speaker 1: And then I still believe in the Colts in the
- 3:59Speaker 1: AFC South. So I think you can get Houston and
- 4:04Speaker 1: the Colts out of there.
- 4:05Speaker 2: It's one week, man. It's one week. No, I get it,
- 4:07Speaker 2: but I would trust Jacksonville a lot more after one
- 4:09Speaker 2: week than I would the Colts giving up 41 points.
- 4:11Speaker 1: God knows Trevor Lawrence never has an up and down season.
- 4:14Speaker 1: So let me ask you guys this one.
- 4:15Speaker 2: How about the New York Jets after one week? I mean,
- 4:17Speaker 2: their win total before the season, I want to say,
- 4:20Speaker 2: was four and a half, maybe five and a half.
- 4:22Speaker 1: The New York Jets opened at five and a half.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Five and a half. And you can currently get... Well,
- 4:32Speaker 2: I wish they would do these alphabetically. It sure would
- 4:34Speaker 2: help me.
- 4:34Speaker 1: You can currently get the Jets at six and a half.
- 4:37Speaker 1: I would sell at six and a half. I would
- 4:41Speaker 1: buy at five and a half. I think they win six.
- 4:43Speaker 2: I mean, seven and ten seems like a high, but
- 4:46Speaker 2: think about this.
- 4:46Speaker 1: They get to play the Dolphins twice.
- 4:47Speaker 2: They got the Dolphins twice coming up. They've got the Browns.
- 4:51Speaker 2: I'm just looking at the schedule. They've already beaten the Titans.
- 4:53Speaker 2: They've got the Browns. They got the Dolphins twice. The
- 4:55Speaker 2: Browns are at home. I feel pretty good about that.
- 4:58Speaker 2: They get the Raiders at home. I feel like the
- 5:00Speaker 2: Jets are better than the Raiders right now. But see,
- 5:03Speaker 2: I think we.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Can do this in college football when you start looking
- 5:05Speaker 1: at schedules. But when you do it in the NFL,
- 5:07Speaker 1: it just feels different. Yeah, it's just because so many
- 5:09Speaker 1: one possession games. Here's where the NFL is going to
- 5:12Speaker 1: trip you up. Do you believe the Dolphins go winless?
- 5:14Speaker 1: no so they're gonna beat somebody yes but every time
- 5:17Speaker 1: you go down a schedule like oh they got the
- 5:19Speaker 1: dolphins that's a win but the dolphins are gonna beat
- 5:21Speaker 1: somebody and by the way when you did the chargers
- 5:23Speaker 1: preseason you looked at the cardinals you went w i
- 5:26Speaker 1: did it in our survivor pool week one and i'm
- 5:28Speaker 1: out already oh.
- 5:29Speaker 2: I still think people will look at the cardinals they
- 5:31Speaker 2: put the w moving.
- 5:32Speaker 1: That's why it's dangerous in the nfl of course it's
- 5:34Speaker 1: just as dangerous in college you'd have gone w with
- 5:36Speaker 1: the oklahoma state over Or Oregon over Oklahoma State, too.
- 5:39Speaker 2: As improbable as it seems, the Dolphins probably will go
- 5:43Speaker 2: to San Francisco and win this week. It's 13 and
- 5:45Speaker 2: a half point. They're a two-touchdown dog. They're not winning
- 5:47Speaker 2: at San Francisco. Yeah, but that's the NFL.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. But my point is, the Dolphins are
- 5:52Speaker 1: not going to go winless. They're going to win a game.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Six and a half is pretty ambitious. I think I
- 5:55Speaker 2: would lean over, but.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sliding in at six right there.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Okay, so, you know, I think we're all high on
- 6:01Speaker 2: the Houston Texans coming off a loss. Yeah. I think
- 6:04Speaker 2: Houston before the season was ten and a half. You
- 6:06Speaker 2: might be able to grab that at nine and a half.
- 6:07Speaker 2: If I can get them at nine and a half,
- 6:09Speaker 2: I'm buying. You're buying all in. Nine and a half
- 6:11Speaker 2: was actually the preseason for Houston. Oh, gosh. How do
- 6:15Speaker 2: I not live in a mansion? Probably hasn't moved losing.
- 6:18Speaker 2: The Texans are currently 9 1⁄2.
- 6:19Speaker 1: How do I not live in a mansion? How do
- 6:21Speaker 1: I not live in a mansion?
- 6:22Speaker 2: I think I would still buy. That's so easy. Now,
- 6:23Speaker 2: this is big because they host the Bengals this weekend, though.
- 6:26Speaker 2: If you lose that game and you go 0-2, you've
- 6:28Speaker 2: seen the numbers before. Teams that fall to 0-2 and
- 6:31Speaker 2: getting to the postseason in the NFL, really, really difficult.
- 6:33Speaker 1: I think you throw those numbers out when you do
- 6:35Speaker 1: the AFC South and the NFC South. Well, and I
- 6:37Speaker 1: tell you, those numbers are going to change historically with
- 6:39Speaker 1: 17 games as well.
- 6:40Speaker 2: That was a 16-game series. Yeah, I've kind of got
- 6:43Speaker 2: a feeling they're going to start 6-1 now. I think
- 6:45Speaker 2: they're about to reel off six straight wins. They've got
- 6:47Speaker 2: the Bengals at home at the Colts, Cowboys at home
- 6:50Speaker 2: at Titans, Jags at home, Giants at home.
- 6:52Speaker 1: I don't know how much of the Bengals' bucks you
- 6:54Speaker 1: all watch, but Cincinnati is not as good as the
- 6:56Speaker 1: score would indicate.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I mean, it was a ton of fumbles.
- 7:00Speaker 1: They didn't play that well. I had them in the
- 7:02Speaker 1: Super Bowl. And the Texans were playing the Bills, and
- 7:04Speaker 1: to me that was two teams that could win the
- 7:05Speaker 1: Super Bowl, and that was back and forth. I was
- 7:07Speaker 1: just surprised at how high-scoring that game was, but it's
- 7:11Speaker 1: Josh Allen.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Let's go with an overreaction possibly with Kansas City. I've
- 7:15Speaker 2: heard everybody, hey, man, Pat Mahomes is going to be
- 7:17Speaker 2: just fine. You saw the rushing yards. You saw the
- 7:19Speaker 2: rushing touchdown. You saw Kenneth Walker, how good K-9 looked.
- 7:23Speaker 2: The defense wasn't a problem at all.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Travis Kelsey is now only behind Tony Gonzalez. on all-time
- 7:31Speaker 1: receiving yards for a tight end he's second all-time and
- 7:33Speaker 1: he looked younger.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Man they have got a really really forgiving schedule at
- 7:37Speaker 2: least early uh.
- 7:38Speaker 1: What happens when you miss the play they open 10
- 7:40Speaker 1: and a half still at 10 and a half and
- 7:41Speaker 1: i'm buying at that number yeah probably gonna be.
- 7:44Speaker 2: 11 i think i'm gonna sell i i think 10
- 7:48Speaker 2: or 9 or 10 this is where it gets really
- 7:49Speaker 2: tricky because these numbers are going to be right on
- 7:51Speaker 2: it 10 is 10 and 7 yeah I got them
- 7:54Speaker 2: at 11.
- 7:54Speaker 1: I mean, Bo Nix couldn't have played worse, right? He
- 7:56Speaker 1: could not have, but how much of that was their defense?
- 7:59Speaker 1: I mean, you've got to give their defense some credit
- 8:01Speaker 1: for that.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Still making over that complete secondary.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they had 176 yards is what Denver
- 8:05Speaker 1: had in that game. But what was more encouraging, if
- 8:08Speaker 1: you're buying the Chiefs, is that Denver defense wasn't coming
- 8:13Speaker 1: off an ankle injury. No, that Denver defense is supposed
- 8:15Speaker 1: to be great. So all of that. So that's what
- 8:18Speaker 1: I'm looking at. It's what did KC's offense– look like
- 8:21Speaker 1: against Denver's defense, and that's a buy for me.
- 8:23Speaker 2: I'm buying. Okay, the other side of that division, the L.A. Chargers.
- 8:29Speaker 2: I do not panic after one game. That's a buy
- 8:31Speaker 2: all day long. The Chargers were at 9.5.
- 8:33Speaker 1: This is what we call value pick. This is why
- 8:36Speaker 1: we all live in mansions. You can now get them
- 8:37Speaker 1: at 8.5, which I would buy on.
- 8:40Speaker 2: I'd buy, but listen to this schedule. Okay, so you've
- 8:43Speaker 2: got the Raiders this week. I heard some Survivor talk
- 8:45Speaker 2: that a lot of people will play the Chargers this
- 8:47Speaker 2: week against the Raiders. I don't know how good you
- 8:50Speaker 2: would feel about that because the Raiders look improved. The
- 8:52Speaker 2: Chargers look completely like they lost.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Are they going to lose back-to-back to the Cardinals and
- 8:56Speaker 1: the Raiders?
- 8:56Speaker 2: You wouldn't think. But even if they beat the Raiders,
- 8:59Speaker 2: then they go to Buffalo. Then they go to Seattle.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Probably lost. They host the Broncos.
- 9:05Speaker 1: That's a win.
- 9:05Speaker 2: They go to the Chiefs. Tough game. They go to
- 9:08Speaker 2: the Rams. Tough game. Wow. They've got the Texans.
- 9:11Speaker 1: That's a schedule.
- 9:12Speaker 2: They go to the Ravens after that. That's a tough schedule.
- 9:16Speaker 2: That's a tough schedule. That is absolutely brutal.
- 9:18Speaker 1: That's brutal.
- 9:18Speaker 2: I mean, there's a chance that they start 1-7. Oh,
- 9:20Speaker 2: I'm going to buy them. I'm going to buy them.
- 9:24Speaker 2: I'll buy two. I don't know how after that schedule.
- 9:26Speaker 1: You should just make a case for them to start
- 9:27Speaker 1: 1-7 and then bolt.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Yeah. At 9.5.
- 9:30Speaker 1: If you could still get to 9.5 starting 1-7.
- 9:33Speaker 2: You better be really good. I mean, how important is
- 9:35Speaker 2: this game for Jim Harbaugh, though? Because if you lose
- 9:37Speaker 2: to the Raiders and you're 0-2 and then you've got
- 9:39Speaker 2: that gauntlet coming up, you might be out of the postseason.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Which is why they're a good play this weekend. Yeah,
- 9:43Speaker 1: the bad part is that you've lost to the Cardinals
- 9:45Speaker 1: and the Raiders.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Okay, where are you guys on the Saints? They were
- 9:48Speaker 2: down 21-0. They came storming back. I thought Tyler Shuck
- 9:51Speaker 2: looked really good in the second half.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Hear me out on this. We're doing with the Saints
- 9:54Speaker 1: what we're doing with Texas. Texas had one good quarter,
- 9:56Speaker 1: and now they're the number one team in the country.
- 9:58Speaker 1: And we've ignored how bad they were though.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Other three quarters.
- 10:01Speaker 1: The Saints went two and a half quarters without scoring
- 10:03Speaker 1: a point. Now, when they started scoring... Detroit couldn't stop them.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Look, everybody in that division, though, 0-1-1. I said before
- 10:09Speaker 2: the season we went through it. I thought Carolina was
- 10:11Speaker 2: going to win it, but if not, a surprise would
- 10:13Speaker 2: be New Orleans. See, you say that as a negative.
- 10:15Speaker 1: I would tell you as a member of that division,
- 10:17Speaker 1: everybody's tied for first.
- 10:19Speaker 2: It's one way to look at it. That's the way
- 10:20Speaker 2: you have to look at it.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Saints, sorry, Jim, Saints were 7-1-1, and they are now 7-1-1. Yeah.
- 10:27Speaker 2: I would buy. Selling. Now, Atlanta did not look good.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Well, I mean, they won six last year. And I
- 10:35Speaker 1: think you won the division by winning eight last year. See,
- 10:37Speaker 1: that was a weird divisional Sunday because I think the
- 10:40Speaker 1: Falcons are probably that bad. I don't think the Panthers
- 10:43Speaker 1: are that bad. I think the Bucs are better than
- 10:46Speaker 1: the score indicated.
- 10:47Speaker 2: We should have won that game.
- 10:47Speaker 1: You should have won the game. And I don't think
- 10:49Speaker 1: the Saints are as good as their fourth quarter would indicate.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Do you guys ever have weird thoughts when you're watching
- 10:53Speaker 2: a game? I was looking at Kellen Moore, and I
- 10:55Speaker 2: was like, that is a cross between our buddy Chris
- 10:57Speaker 2: Vernon and Casey Affleck. It's 100% like Casey Affleck and
- 11:02Speaker 2: Chris Vernon had a baby.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Well, you do that all the time. And that's the
- 11:05Speaker 1: way your brain works. We'll do interviews and we'll play
- 11:08Speaker 1: a clip. And that's always your first comment is that's
- 11:11Speaker 1: a cross between so-and-so and so-and-so. So your brain works
- 11:14Speaker 1: like that constantly. I never really even think about that.
- 11:16Speaker 1: So while we're on the Saints.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Real quick. They're going to start 0-2 because they go
- 11:19Speaker 2: to Baltimore this week.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Would you have gone for two at the end there?
- 11:23Speaker 2: Oh, I would not. I always go for the one.
- 11:26Speaker 1: That's number one. Number two, I don't know how much
- 11:28Speaker 1: of that game you watched, but the Saints had a
- 11:30Speaker 1: scoop and score that got called back for what I
- 11:32Speaker 1: didn't even realize was an actual rule. So the ruling was,
- 11:36Speaker 1: so what happened was Goff gets hit. Jared Goff gets
- 11:39Speaker 1: hit as he's throwing. And when he gets hit, it
- 11:41Speaker 1: spins him backwards. So it created a lateral, a backward pass.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Yep.
- 11:46Speaker 1: I had no idea this was a rule. It's almost
- 11:48Speaker 1: like they invented this on the fly. They go to,
- 11:50Speaker 1: it was either Blandino or Pereira. I think it was Pereira.
- 11:53Speaker 1: He's like, guys, I know this sounds crazy, but he
- 11:56Speaker 1: started his forward throwing motion. Right. So regardless of where
- 12:00Speaker 1: the ball comes out on the hit, it's a forward pass.
- 12:02Speaker 2: That's right.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Because of the contact. Well, the contact made it a
- 12:06Speaker 1: backwards pass.
- 12:07Speaker 2: That's right.
- 12:07Speaker 1: And Pereira's like, it has to be an obvious backward
- 12:10Speaker 1: pass to be ruled a backward pass. I'm like, I've
- 12:12Speaker 1: never heard that rule in my life.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Now, say y'all are buying or selling. Yeah, I am
- 12:16Speaker 2: going to.
- 12:16Speaker 1: It's right on the line, but I'm going to sell them.
- 12:18Speaker 2: I'm buying. They're going to be favored in eight games
- 12:20Speaker 2: coming up, so. Whether or not they win those games,
- 12:22Speaker 2: we'll see. I do feel good about that. Where are
- 12:24Speaker 2: you guys on the Rams right now? I mean, seriously. Oh, my.
- 12:27Speaker 1: I mean, I thought the Rams were going to go 13-4.
- 12:29Speaker 2: 11-and-a-half. They only won 12 games last year. They were
- 12:32Speaker 2: going 13-4 this year.
- 12:33Speaker 1: That's one loss.
- 12:34Speaker 2: I think they– I had them 12-5 before, but I
- 12:36Speaker 2: had them winning that game. We went through the whole schedule. So,
- 12:38Speaker 2: I am going to have to sell, which is sad.
- 12:40Speaker 2: But that's where I am right now. 13-4. 15-2.
- 12:44Speaker 1: The Saints were going to lose at San Francisco. I mean,
- 12:47Speaker 1: the Rams, excuse me, were going to lose at San Francisco.
- 12:50Speaker 1: That's not a surprise to me that they lost to
- 12:52Speaker 1: San Francisco. It happened to be in Australia.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Yeah, but it was still after all of this off-season hype.
- 12:57Speaker 2: They were going to lose at San Francisco. Okay, so
- 12:58Speaker 2: that was one side of the spectrum. In that division,
- 13:01Speaker 2: Arizona was supposed to be, according to a lot, the
- 13:03Speaker 2: worst team. Such an overreaction.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Jacoby Brissett can't play multiple good games. And he can't
- 13:11Speaker 1: play the rest.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Gardner Minshew, Carson Beck. Look at what you've got waiting behind. Yeah.
- 13:16Speaker 2: That's a sell.
- 13:17Speaker 1: I don't even know the number. I don't have to
- 13:19Speaker 1: know the number.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I think it's five and a half. You know half
- 13:22Speaker 2: the league has to lose every week. That's right. Okay.
- 13:24Speaker 1: You've been buying a lot. Currently five and a half.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Teams that are like five and a half. Sell, sell, sell.
- 13:28Speaker 2: I just sold the Rams.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Five and a half, sell.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm buying there on the Arizona Cardinals. Is that enough?
- 13:35Speaker 2: That's plenty. Okay. Well, do one more. Can we do
- 13:37Speaker 2: one more? Let's go to the Bears. The Bears.
- 13:39Speaker 1: That's the one I wanted to do because that has
- 13:40Speaker 1: been the biggest reaction. I've got them number one in
- 13:42Speaker 1: my power ranking.
- 13:43Speaker 2: You've been licking them up and down all week. I'm buying,
- 13:45Speaker 2: by the way. I've got to look at what the
- 13:46Speaker 2: numbers are, but I'm already buying, Jim. I hope you're
- 13:48Speaker 2: right because I got them second in our draft, so
- 13:50Speaker 2: I do own the Bears this year. But, boy, there's
- 13:53Speaker 2: a lot of hype coming after, you know, really three
- 13:56Speaker 2: great quarters against the Panthers.
- 13:58Speaker 1: The Chicago Bears opened at 9.5. You can currently find
- 14:01Speaker 1: the Bears at 10.5.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Bye. I'm going to sell.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Ten and a half is a good number.
- 14:09Speaker 2: I have Jim Cramer. I mean, again, it's maybe the
- 14:13Speaker 2: most difficult division as far as just pure balance.
- 14:16Speaker 1: I would say the injuries with the Packers pushed me
- 14:19Speaker 1: to a buy situation, but the Lions are still going
- 14:23Speaker 1: to win that division. 41.
- 14:25Speaker 2: But aren't you concerned that Bryce Young went 361? A
- 14:27Speaker 2: little bit, but I think.
- 14:32Speaker 1: That was the shootout nature of the game. They were
- 14:34Speaker 1: scoring so quickly. So I don't think that that's necessarily
- 14:38Speaker 1: an indictment on their defense when that defense is needed.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Yeah, but they had 24 points in the first half.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a fun game, by the way. Continuing
- 14:44Speaker 1: our NFL segment today on the next round, presented by
- 14:46Speaker 1: Hard Rock Bets, I did want to bring up this.
- 14:51Speaker 1: After watching two weeks now, in some cases three weeks now,
- 14:56Speaker 1: of college football, where are you on this great college
- 15:00Speaker 1: football class today? as it projects to the NFL. This
- 15:04Speaker 1: quarterback class was supposed to be so deep, and we
- 15:08Speaker 1: were talking about so many people being drafted in the
- 15:11Speaker 1: first round of the NFL draft in that position. But
- 15:15Speaker 1: as we sit here with people dropping arch madness now,
- 15:19Speaker 1: NFL teams scrambling to get arch, is there NFL quarterbacks
- 15:24Speaker 1: that you're just as he just phrased it, licking up
- 15:27Speaker 1: and down, trying to want them to be QB1 for you. Listen,
- 15:30Speaker 1: I cheer for a team that might actually draft quarterback
- 15:32Speaker 1: with the first pick. I mean, I want them to
- 15:34Speaker 1: take Jeremiah Smith. I'd prefer him over any quarterback. I
- 15:37Speaker 1: watched that game Saturday night knowing that. And I'm like, man,
- 15:40Speaker 1: Arch Manning scares me to death. Give me the quarterback
- 15:43Speaker 1: that you think right now coming out of college. I
- 15:45Speaker 1: haven't seen one. Some would have been Dante Moore. Dante
- 15:48Speaker 1: Moore's looked terrible.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Darian Mensah's looked the part. He really, really has. He has, yeah.
- 15:52Speaker 1: And look, Stanford and FAMU so far.
- 15:54Speaker 2: That's my fear there, Stanford and FAMU. But I agree
- 15:56Speaker 2: with you right now. He's a guy. I'm just going
- 15:58Speaker 2: back to Tulane, to Duke, to where he is right now.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Mensah looks the part.
- 16:04Speaker 1: To your point, he sort of has moved up the
- 16:07Speaker 1: ladder every time. Daniel in the chat says, Drew Mestemaker
- 16:09Speaker 1: first round.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Don't buy that, Daniel. Mestemaker's a first-round guy. I hope
- 16:14Speaker 2: he doesn't go to Tampa. I'm telling you, one to
- 16:16Speaker 2: look out for.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I hope he goes to New Orleans, Carolina. I want
- 16:19Speaker 1: to play him forever.
- 16:21Speaker 2: There are two potential guys coming up this weekend in
- 16:24Speaker 2: the matchup between SMU and Louisville. Kevin Jennings, Lincoln Keenholz,
- 16:28Speaker 2: who nobody's talking about right now.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Keenholz's impressive. Mestemaker, am I right? Is he the kid
- 16:34Speaker 1: that in high school had to play safety to get
- 16:37Speaker 1: on the field?
- 16:38Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. He got one offer. It was
- 16:41Speaker 2: North Texas. Yeah. So he was a safety. That's right.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Couldn't win the job. Who was ahead of him? Well,
- 16:47Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Where's that guy?
- 16:48Speaker 1: You're going to hold that against him? No, I'm just saying.
- 16:50Speaker 1: He was in high school. But you want the guy
- 16:52Speaker 1: that was starting in front of him? How is he
- 16:53Speaker 1: not a system quarterback? How is he not a system quarterback?
- 16:55Speaker 1: He may be, but I mean, now, I've always said
- 16:58Speaker 1: every offense is a system. I know, but— But I
- 17:01Speaker 1: know what you're saying is he— Who's the great guest
- 17:03Speaker 1: we have on that says that Sam Leavitt is going to...
- 17:06Speaker 1: It's Brooks. Brooks said it again yesterday. Brooks Alston, that
- 17:08Speaker 1: Sam Leavitt is going to get a GM fire because he,
- 17:10Speaker 1: and I was about to bring this up, he's playing
- 17:12Speaker 1: for Lane Kiffin, who notoriously, now Jackson Dart is damaging
- 17:17Speaker 1: this narrative, but that Lane Kiffin notoriously basically sets the
- 17:22Speaker 1: table for his quarterbacks and tells them which bite to eat. Yeah.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Essentially, right? Yeah.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Like Alabama fans saw it firsthand in Tuscaloosa. They could
- 17:30Speaker 1: hear him on TV whistle. Blake Sims or Jake Coker
- 17:33Speaker 1: or whoever looks to the sideline, and he gives a
- 17:35Speaker 1: signal telling him, there's your hot receiver.
- 17:37Speaker 2: The Y is going to be open.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Yeah, this is your hot receiver based on the defense
- 17:40Speaker 1: they're showing us right now. You don't get that in
- 17:42Speaker 1: the NFL, and that's been the criticism, but Jackson Dart
- 17:45Speaker 1: is playing elite-level football right now.
- 17:46Speaker 2: And you didn't get that week one against Louisville the
- 17:48Speaker 2: way Trinidad played. Look, if you want to take a
- 17:50Speaker 2: flyer on a small quarterback, a lot of people don't
- 17:52Speaker 2: like them. Trinidad is one of those.
- 17:56Speaker 1: You just said it, Bryce Young, nobody's smaller than him
- 17:58Speaker 1: in the NFL, and he just tore.
- 17:59Speaker 2: It up Sunday. Trinidad might be smaller.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Kamario Taylor has shorter.
- 18:03Speaker 2: He looks bigger, though, because he's thicker.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Yeah, but he's shorter, definitely. 6'4, 230 with speed, Kamario Taylor.
- 18:09Speaker 1: He's got to come back another year.
- 18:10Speaker 2: He's got to come back. Yeah, he's a true sophomore.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Right now, State's trying to figure out how much we're
- 18:14Speaker 1: going to have to pay to have him back.
- 18:15Speaker 2: More on that later. Yeah, I still think that Arch
- 18:17Speaker 2: Manning's going to be fine. I think Dante Moore's going
- 18:19Speaker 2: to be fine. But to your point, I'm not tanking
- 18:21Speaker 2: if I'm anybody out there. I think that there is
- 18:23Speaker 2: too much value in how deep this quarterback draft could go.
- 18:26Speaker 2: I said it.
- 18:27Speaker 1: There were three people in my basement.
- 18:29Speaker 2: And Jaden Maiva's a guy we hadn't talked about. He's
- 18:31Speaker 2: leading the nation in passing yards. He's sixth in completion percentage.
- 18:35Speaker 2: He's leading the nation in touchdown passes. Okay, now that's
- 18:37Speaker 2: more intriguing to me. Maiva's more intriguing to me than
- 18:42Speaker 2: Arch is right now, than Sam Leavitt is right now.
- 18:45Speaker 2: To some of these guys that we were projecting to
- 18:47Speaker 2: be there, Mestemaker, I'm more in on Minson, Maiva than
- 18:51Speaker 2: I am on Mestemaker. Yeah, Maiva also, I mean, the
- 18:53Speaker 2: guy can run it a little bit enough. In the NFL,
- 18:56Speaker 2: I really don't want you— He's so freaking accurate. I
- 18:59Speaker 2: just want a guy that can extend it. That's right.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Or, I mean, if it's wide open to run and
- 19:04Speaker 1: gets positive yardage slide.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Let's play another down.
- 19:06Speaker 1: That's what they say in the chat. Is Dart playing
- 19:09Speaker 1: elite-level quarterback throwing it, or is it because he can
- 19:11Speaker 1: run so much?
- 19:12Speaker 2: I'll tell you the most frustrating thing ever, and this
- 19:16Speaker 2: is just from a gambler's perspective. Sitting on the couch,
- 19:19Speaker 2: you've got a third and 12, and the quarterback's able
- 19:21Speaker 2: to scramble to get it. Guys like Caleb Williams— yeah
- 19:24Speaker 2: father murray used to he played the dolphins one time
- 19:26Speaker 2: and had like 500 rush yards it was pretty good
- 19:29Speaker 2: at tampa yes yes yeah but that'll drive you nuts
- 19:31Speaker 2: well now.
- 19:32Speaker 1: There were three people in my basement but they heard
- 19:33Speaker 1: this but i said it saturday night i hope the
- 19:36Speaker 1: dolphins do not draft quarterback and draft jeremiah smith to
- 19:38Speaker 1: answer your question you said it on the air this
- 19:40Speaker 1: week i'd rather have jeremiah smith that guy could play
- 19:43Speaker 1: tomorrow for miami he could play tomorrow for most of the.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Nfl Ty Simpson, as good as he looked in camp,
- 19:49Speaker 2: right now, Ty Simpson and another first-round pick for Jeremiah Smith.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Yes, in a heartbeat. That's who I want. I don't
- 19:55Speaker 1: want a quarterback out of this class. I want Jeremiah Smith.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I do think right now Darian Mensah, I haven't
- 20:00Speaker 2: seen any projections either. I think he would be projected
- 20:02Speaker 2: going number one overall.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Give me Jeremiah Smith, and I'll figure out quarterbacks somehow,
- 20:07Speaker 1: some other way.
- 20:07Speaker 2: What you can't get baited into is the Manning name.
- 20:10Speaker 2: The moment won't be too big for him, but there's
- 20:12Speaker 2: too much inconsistency right now.
- 20:13Speaker 1: I think we finally got to the phrase I needed
- 20:15Speaker 1: somebody to say, don't get baited into the Manning name.
- 20:19Speaker 1: When they played Ohio State last year, Mendoza was. 222,
- 20:23Speaker 1: one touchdown, one interception. Saturday night, Arch Manning. 197, one touchdown,
- 20:29Speaker 1: one interception. Why with Mendoza? That's the Heisman Trophy winner
- 20:33Speaker 1: first overall pick, and we think he's going to be great.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Arch Manning, virtually the same numbers against Ohio State. But
- 20:39Speaker 1: we all don't get bought into the Manning name.
- 20:41Speaker 2: I think it's because Manning has looked so bad early
- 20:44Speaker 2: and then had the one fourth quarter in. We didn't
- 20:47Speaker 2: see Mendoza struggle last year. I mean, Mendoza was just fantastic.
- 20:51Speaker 2: And I think we had a lot more, at least
- 20:54Speaker 2: these guys had a lot more film on Mendoza. You
- 20:56Speaker 2: guys know I was hyping him up when he was
- 20:57Speaker 2: with Cal early on.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Oh, you were. You loved him before he even took
- 20:59Speaker 1: a snap in Indiana. But I think there's a track
- 21:01Speaker 1: record with Manning. Lance has brought this up a couple times,
- 21:04Speaker 1: and I thought it was very well said by Herbstreet.
- 21:07Speaker 1: It was like that game was Manning's career in a nutshell.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Started awful for him, and by the end, he was
- 21:12Speaker 1: playing elite-level quarterback. That's why he did last year.
- 21:15Speaker 2: He was awful.
- 21:17Speaker 1: At the Horseshoe, and by the end of the year,
- 21:18Speaker 1: he was playing elite-level quarterback. 26 targets in the first
- 21:21Speaker 1: three quarters. True media with the numbers here. Good follow.
- 21:24Speaker 1: How many off-target passes did he make out of 26
- 21:28Speaker 1: in the first three quarters? Manny?
- 21:29Speaker 2: Yep. I'd guess 13. I would say 10. It was five.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Okay.
- 21:34Speaker 2: It was five.
- 21:34Speaker 1: It seemed worse than that. He threw 11 passes in
- 21:37Speaker 1: the fourth quarter. How many were off-target? 11 passes in
- 21:40Speaker 1: the fourth quarter? One.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Zero. Zero, yeah. He missed four.
- 21:43Speaker 1: 26 targets, he missed five in the first three quarters.
- 21:48Speaker 2: In the fourth quarter, he missed zero, 11 of 11.
- 21:51Speaker 2: I saw it a little bit different. Klatten knows a
- 21:53Speaker 2: lot more than I do. I was focused on the
- 21:56Speaker 2: five misses. But they consider the one to Cam Coleman
- 22:00Speaker 2: a good throw. I heard a lot of people saying
- 22:01Speaker 2: that's a good throw. It's not a good throw. He
- 22:03Speaker 2: had to fully extend. If you hit him in stride,
- 22:06Speaker 2: it's an easy touchdown.
- 22:08Speaker 1: I'm trying to remember, was it in the Texas game?
- 22:11Speaker 1: The Texas-Ohio State game where they were showing how the receiver,
- 22:14Speaker 1: it was the high 20 camera, and they were showing
- 22:18Speaker 1: how if the receiver just runs this towards the sideline,
- 22:21Speaker 1: he's open. He runs it towards the middle of the field,
- 22:23Speaker 1: which allows the safety not to have to go far
- 22:25Speaker 1: to get to the ball.
- 22:27Speaker 2: And people never talk about this.
- 22:28Speaker 1: They never talk about that kind of stuff. Football people
- 22:30Speaker 1: are like, okay, so the receiver is supposed to be
- 22:33Speaker 1: a harder cut over the middle, and he takes this cut,
- 22:36Speaker 1: so it's underthrown. It's supposed to be this. And he
- 22:41Speaker 1: does this and it's overthrow. And I don't think it
- 22:43Speaker 1: was Coleman or Wingo that had run the route. But
- 22:45Speaker 1: if I remember, I watched so much football Saturday, but
- 22:47Speaker 1: I think Herbstreet was saying it like this route. The
- 22:51Speaker 1: receivers got to know you've got to hedge towards the side.
- 22:53Speaker 1: And I know, you know what?
- 22:54Speaker 2: It was in the Dolphins game.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Now they're all rookie receivers. You've got to hedge towards
- 22:59Speaker 1: the side. But this carries over to any game. You've
- 23:01Speaker 1: got to hedge towards the sidelines. If you run that
- 23:04Speaker 1: route towards the middle of the field, now the safety
- 23:05Speaker 1: doesn't have to go very far to get there.
- 23:07Speaker 2: The quarterback always looks like the villain. That's right.
- 23:09Speaker 1: He made the bad throw, but sometimes it's a bad route.
- 23:11Speaker 2: That's right. Sometimes it's just a bad route. Austin Simmons
- 23:15Speaker 2: is another guy that could pick up some steam. Wow, really?
- 23:17Speaker 2: I wouldn't trust that either. I'm just saying with the
- 23:19Speaker 2: accuracy I've seen, look, it's early, but with his size,
- 23:22Speaker 2: his release.
- 23:23Speaker 1: He played well against Kansas. I mean, that was Kansas.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Before we go to break here and get back to
- 23:28Speaker 1: some college football, I want to bring this up. Just
- 23:31Speaker 1: to educate some of you younger folks on professional football,
- 23:35Speaker 1: in the Canadian League, the Ottawa Red Blacks have lost
- 23:38Speaker 1: 18 straight games. That's my favorite Canadian Football League team.
- 23:42Speaker 2: I adopted one back in our radio days. The Buccaneers
- 23:47Speaker 2: of Canada.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Back in our radio days, before we really were dying
- 23:52Speaker 1: for football to get here as fast as we could,
- 23:54Speaker 1: we'd watch occasional Canadian Football League games, and I adopted
- 23:56Speaker 1: the Ottawa Red Blacks.
- 23:58Speaker 2: They're 0-12 this year.
- 24:00Speaker 1: They've lost 18 straight games. Only three other teams has
- 24:04Speaker 1: ever started 0-12. They've never had a team go defeated
- 24:07Speaker 1: without winning a game. Saskatchewan, Hamilton, and Shreveport started 0-12.
- 24:15Speaker 2: And you say Shreveport in Canada? Wait a minute.
- 24:17Speaker 1: There was one year in 1994 that we had American
- 24:21Speaker 1: franchises in the Canadian Football League. Birmingham had the Barracudas.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Of course, that's stunning. Baltimore had the Stallions, I believe,
- 24:29Speaker 1: or the Stampede.
- 24:29Speaker 2: I forget.
- 24:30Speaker 1: I think it was the Stallions. No, Calgary's the Stampede. Yeah,
- 24:33Speaker 1: it was the Stallions. Shreveport, I forget what they were,
- 24:35Speaker 1: and there was one other one, I think.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Maybe it was just those three. I think they do
- 24:38Speaker 2: the coaches show from Spear Grill in Shreveport. I bet
- 24:40Speaker 2: they did.
- 24:41Speaker 1: But Shreveport, 1994, they started 0-12. They eventually won a game.
- 24:46Speaker 1: But the Canadian Football League actually had American franchises for
- 24:49Speaker 1: one season, and it was a horrific disaster. The Shreveport Pirates.
- 24:54Speaker 2: We dog out Oregon and USC and Washington being in
- 24:58Speaker 2: the Big Ten. Yeah. Stanford and the ACC.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Shreveport was 8-28 in 36 games, by the way.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Not good. They played how many?
- 25:04Speaker 1: 36, it says. So they hung around more than one year.
- 25:06Speaker 1: It says 94-95.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Yeah, so they went two years. Yeah. We just went
- 25:10Speaker 2: one year here in Birmingham. The Barracudas did. Yeah. Jerry Denard?
- 25:12Speaker 1: No, he was the fire coach.
- 25:13Speaker 2: He was the fire coach. I forget who the coach was.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, it was the old Houston Oilers coach.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Jack Pardee? Yeah, Jack Pardee.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Oh, that's right. All right, when we come back, back
- 25:25Speaker 1: to college football, not just LSU and Ole Miss, a
- 25:28Speaker 1: handful of big games coming up this weekend. One of
- 25:31Speaker 1: them is in Auburn, Alabama, and everyone is talking about
- 25:36Speaker 1: Buster Faulkner. You heard Aaron Murray in the first hour
- 25:39Speaker 1: talking about his offense. Aaron Filo is the quarterback that's
- 25:43Speaker 1: trying to get Florida to 3-0, You'll hear from him
- 25:46Speaker 1: when we come back on Hard Rock Bets next round
- 25:50Speaker 1: here on Sport and State. All right, we move to
- 25:53Speaker 1: our next segment here on the next round presented by
- 25:57Speaker 1: Hard Rock Bets in Sport and State. And I'll tell you,
- 26:02Speaker 1: I don't want to laugh at anybody, okay? That's what
- 26:05Speaker 1: we do on this show.
- 26:06Speaker 2: No, I really don't like to do this. Don't laugh
- 26:09Speaker 2: at Holly Roe.
- 26:09Speaker 1: I don't want to laugh at a fan base, especially
- 26:12Speaker 1: a fan base that's coming to.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Tuscaloosa this weekend. Uh-oh.
- 26:15Speaker 1: But I saw some folks debating at Florida State when
- 26:19Speaker 1: Mike Norvell is gone, and this was a podcast, the
- 26:22Speaker 1: coach that they want to be the next coach at
- 26:25Speaker 1: Florida State. And the name they said, I was like,
- 26:29Speaker 1: you're insane. There's no way he would take the job.
- 26:32Speaker 1: And their number one target, I forget what podcast. I'd
- 26:35Speaker 1: love to give your name here, but I forget who
- 26:38Speaker 1: it was. I was watching so much stuff last night.
- 26:40Speaker 1: But the guy they want is Rhett Lashley of SMU.
- 26:46Speaker 2: And I laughed out loud. I was like, first of all,
- 26:49Speaker 2: you are in the same conference.
- 26:51Speaker 1: And you know what SMU has that Florida State doesn't have?
- 26:53Speaker 2: Money. Money. Perception.
- 26:56Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not going to leave. I mean, if
- 26:58Speaker 1: he was leaving to go to an SEC or a
- 27:00Speaker 1: Big Ten school, I'd be like, okay, he's getting into
- 27:02Speaker 1: a major conference that's going to get multiple bids and
- 27:06Speaker 1: you know it's going to be around forever and ever.
- 27:09Speaker 1: But to go from one ACC school to another that's
- 27:13Speaker 1: going to have less money, more fans, but less money,
- 27:15Speaker 1: I There's no way.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Florida State hasn't been to a 12-team playoff. Rhett has. Yep.
- 27:21Speaker 2: And they're in the mix again. Big game this weekend
- 27:23Speaker 2: in Louisville. I agree with you. It's kind of amazing
- 27:26Speaker 2: to say, though, if you go back 10 years ago,
- 27:28Speaker 2: nobody would leave SMU to take the Florida State job.
- 27:32Speaker 2: But I don't think you would because SMU is proud.
- 27:34Speaker 2: They're going to pay him whatever. to match, and why
- 27:37Speaker 2: would you leave in that situation? Rhett Lashley's an Arkansas guy.
- 27:40Speaker 2: I don't think he'd leave SMU for the Arkansas job.
- 27:42Speaker 2: He's got a better job.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Now, if Arkansas really dove in with resources, maybe. If
- 27:48Speaker 1: the guy from Walmart and Tyson's and all those other
- 27:51Speaker 1: businesses up there walked in and said, hey, open check.
- 27:55Speaker 2: I never know about going back home. You know, I mean,
- 27:57Speaker 2: he could have grown up the biggest Arkansas fan in
- 27:59Speaker 2: the world, his dream job, and He really believes that
- 28:02Speaker 2: he can get it back to Bobby Petrino-like days. Who knows?
- 28:05Speaker 1: But in this day and age, Florida State and SMU,
- 28:10Speaker 1: I know history.
- 28:11Speaker 2: I know history. But SMU is a better program than
- 28:14Speaker 2: Florida State. I mean, you see SMU play anybody right now.
- 28:18Speaker 2: They could beat anybody. Florida State is a W. It's
- 28:21Speaker 2: just resources, man. Just resources.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Here's the one thing that I don't know how it
- 28:24Speaker 1: factors in, Jim, for college football coaches. And I think
- 28:27Speaker 1: if we're being honest, it would probably factor in for us,
- 28:30Speaker 1: the three of us. if we're being honest about it,
- 28:33Speaker 1: do you think college football coaches ever are like, you know,
- 28:37Speaker 1: I'd like to coach in a stadium that holds 100,000 people?
- 28:41Speaker 2: That's my home state.
- 28:42Speaker 1: I was watching a video on our fourth screen over here,
- 28:45Speaker 1: and Lane Kiffin was walking out. Maybe it was the
- 28:49Speaker 1: third screen. Lane Kiffin was walking out of the tunnel when.
- 28:53Speaker 2: He was at Ole Miss.
- 28:55Speaker 1: And, you know, you've got that quirky little upper deck
- 28:58Speaker 1: that's sort of a small upper deck. 60,000 people. Nice stadium,
- 29:03Speaker 1: 60,000 people.
- 29:03Speaker 2: 64,000 people.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Yep. And then you see him, same video, walking out
- 29:07Speaker 1: as the LSU coach for the Clemson game, and there's
- 29:10Speaker 1: 100,000 people, and you can't see the sky.
- 29:13Speaker 2: I think things change the older you get. I don't
- 29:15Speaker 2: know about you guys, but, like, I want to downsize. Like,
- 29:20Speaker 2: his stadium is small, but it's super nice. Like, I'd
- 29:23Speaker 2: like me a one-level ranch. That's right, yeah.
- 29:25Speaker 1: But to me, to your what you're thinking of, too,
- 29:29Speaker 1: to me, though, it's the money and not the money
- 29:32Speaker 1: I'm being paid. I'm going to get paid either place.
- 29:35Speaker 1: To me, it's the money I have at my disposal
- 29:39Speaker 1: to where I can build.
- 29:40Speaker 2: A roster. We'll talk roster stuff in a second. Do
- 29:43Speaker 2: you want to buy somebody a gold Trans Am? You're
- 29:45Speaker 2: able to do it.
- 29:46Speaker 1: You can do it now, legally. The Athletic has done
- 29:48Speaker 1: a fabulous study. Several of their writers, including Sam Kahn
- 29:53Speaker 1: and Stuart Mandel and David Obin, have done this with
- 29:57Speaker 1: The Athletic and a bunch of other writers there. It's
- 30:00Speaker 1: a massive study, and I've got the numbers here, and
- 30:03Speaker 1: I want to sort of talk you through this after
- 30:07Speaker 1: Brownie tells you about our friends at Perfect 10 Mortgage
- 30:09Speaker 1: because they have dove into this for the 67 power
- 30:15Speaker 1: schools and Notre Dame on what they've spent on this
- 30:18Speaker 1: year's rosters. The name says it all. Apply in 10 minutes,
- 30:21Speaker 1: close in 10 days. That is the whole idea. A
- 30:23Speaker 1: mortgage that is simple, fast, and fair. 10 minutes start
- 30:26Speaker 1: to finish right from your phone with Perfect 10 Mortgage.
- 30:30Speaker 1: You don't have a stack of paperwork. You don't have
- 30:31Speaker 1: to sit across a desk from a banker that talks
- 30:33Speaker 1: down to you. You get to check your options and
- 30:35Speaker 1: it doesn't ding your credit score. Find out where you
- 30:37Speaker 1: actually stand before you commit to anything with Perfect 10 Mortgage.
- 30:41Speaker 1: They allow you to date the rate and marry the house.
- 30:44Speaker 1: Get your house you want now today. If you're buying
- 30:46Speaker 1: new construction, ask about the builder program. It is builder-funded
- 30:49Speaker 1: rate buy-downs that can get you the rate the bank
- 30:51Speaker 1: simply cannot print. Again, date the rate, marry the house
- 30:55Speaker 1: with Perfect 10 Mortgage. Get the house you want now,
- 30:58Speaker 1: refinance when rates come down. How do I get in
- 31:00Speaker 1: touch with Perfect 10 Mortgage, you ask? Because this all
- 31:02Speaker 1: sounds great. It's very simple. Perfect10Mortgage. com. That is Perfect10Mortgage. com. Or
- 31:09Speaker 1: call 855-789-1010. That is 855-789-1010 for Perfect 10 Mortgage. Perfect
- 31:16Speaker 1: 10 Mortgage is the DBA of Network Funding LP and
- 31:19Speaker 1: MLS 2297 Equal Housing Lender. All borrowers must qualify. This
- 31:23Speaker 1: advertisement is not a promise to make a loan.
- 31:25Speaker 3: Perfect 10 Mortgage in pursuit of a more perfect mortgage.
- 31:29Speaker 3: You know what just happened? I just did that big
- 31:31Speaker 3: thing about SMU and Florida State. And I'm the politician
- 31:35Speaker 3: that has walked out and promised you this, this, and this.
- 31:38Speaker 3: And I've walked back off the stage and my aide
- 31:40Speaker 3: has said, we can't do any of that stuff. We
- 31:44Speaker 3: can't do that. We can't do any of that stuff.
- 31:47Speaker 3: From the athletic, SMU's roster this year between $ 21 and
- 31:50Speaker 3: $ 23 million. Florida State's roster this year between $ 23 and
- 31:55Speaker 3: $ 30 million.
- 31:56Speaker 2: I don't know if you believe those numbers. I do.
- 31:59Speaker 1: This is the athletic they have done. It's a year-long study.
- 32:04Speaker 2: And that's LSU has a less.
- 32:05Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 32:07Speaker 2: SMU. SMU.
- 32:08Speaker 1: I thought you said LSU. SMU 21 to 23.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Florida State is 23 to 30.
- 32:13Speaker 1: So Rhett Lashley is just that much better of a
- 32:15Speaker 1: coach than Mike Norvell. He's built a cheaper roster. I mean,
- 32:18Speaker 1: I believe that, don't you? That Rhett Lashley is a
- 32:20Speaker 1: better coach.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Than Mike Norvell? Yeah.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Yeah. The most expensive roster this year, according to The Athletic,
- 32:24Speaker 1: is Ohio State. The roster is between $ 49 and $ 54
- 32:28Speaker 1: million that they've been able to document.
- 32:32Speaker 2: You know, I heard yesterday LSU's was $ 55 million. Yep.
- 32:35Speaker 1: LSU's, according to them, is between $ 47 and $ 50 million.
- 32:40Speaker 1: That I believe. Lane was spending like a wild man.
- 32:42Speaker 2: That's fourth.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Yeah. Oregon is right behind Ohio State, 48 to 54.
- 32:46Speaker 2: LSU is 45 to 55. So....
- 32:50Speaker 1: On the higher range, they're all right there around Ohio State.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Alabama and Auburn? Get to them.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Texas A & M and Miami are next. Miami's 44
- 32:58Speaker 1: to 50 million. A & M, 45 to 50 million.
- 33:02Speaker 1: So that's your $ 50 million crew there. Notre Dame, 41
- 33:06Speaker 1: to 48 million. Then you get Ole Miss and Tennessee.
- 33:11Speaker 1: Then on the same line, you get Alabama, 38 to
- 33:14Speaker 1: 42 million. Texas Tech, 38 to 42 million. I saw
- 33:19Speaker 1: this story, and that was one thing that jumped out
- 33:21Speaker 1: at me, is that the Alabama logo and the Texas
- 33:23Speaker 1: Tech logo are right next to one another because we
- 33:25Speaker 1: make a big deal about how much Cody Campbell's willing
- 33:27Speaker 1: to spend for his roster. And he's not outspending a
- 33:30Speaker 1: school like Alabama, which just shows you, first of all,
- 33:34Speaker 1: it shows you the narrative of Alabama's a broke program
- 33:37Speaker 1: probably is not true, and we've never said it was here. Now,
- 33:40Speaker 1: the only thing I've said about Alabama is I don't
- 33:42Speaker 1: think they're going to be able to spend with Texas
- 33:44Speaker 1: and Texas A & M. But I don't think Alabama's
- 33:46Speaker 1: alone in that boat. I think Georgia's in that boat
- 33:48Speaker 1: with them.
- 33:49Speaker 2: I think Auburn. I think Tennessee.
- 33:50Speaker 1: I think a lot of good SEC. Oklahoma, a lot
- 33:52Speaker 1: of good SEC programs are in that boat. Get to
- 33:54Speaker 1: Georgia here in just a second because that's sort of
- 33:57Speaker 1: the team we think has the best chance of winning
- 34:00Speaker 1: a national championship.
- 34:01Speaker 2: Out of the SEC, I would say. Yeah.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Right behind Alabama and Texas Tech are three Big Ten
- 34:05Speaker 1: schools because already I've only given you two Big Ten schools.
- 34:09Speaker 1: That's USC, Michigan, and Indiana. USC, 37 to 40 million.
- 34:15Speaker 1: which is good money. I mean, it seems like they
- 34:17Speaker 1: could be able or should be able to spend more.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Maybe they don't want to. Michigan is $ 36 to $ 40 million.
- 34:22Speaker 1: And here's Indiana, $ 36 to $ 40 million. So three big 10.
- 34:27Speaker 1: Right behind them, Florida is $ 31 to $ 41 million. They
- 34:31Speaker 1: didn't get as many documented papers. That's the biggest window.
- 34:34Speaker 1: That's a $ 10 million window that they put for Florida.
- 34:37Speaker 1: So they didn't get as much documentation on Florida as
- 34:39Speaker 1: they have the others. And they use some of the
- 34:41Speaker 1: clearinghouse numbers for this as well. South Carolina, Georgia, Auburn,
- 34:45Speaker 1: and Nebraska is next. You ask about Auburn, they're $ 31
- 34:48Speaker 1: million to $ 35 million. So, I mean, that's not far
- 34:52Speaker 1: off from where everyone else is in the SEC, and
- 34:55Speaker 1: they sort of were playing catch-up in the spending, and
- 34:57Speaker 1: they got some discounts with a lot of South Florida players.
- 34:59Speaker 2: I mean, the difference in $ 31 or $ 35 million is
- 35:02Speaker 2: a $ 4 million quarterback. Yeah, I mean, yeah, you're right.
- 35:06Speaker 2: That's a big difference. That is a big difference.
- 35:07Speaker 1: If you just go by the top end, Auburn is–
- 35:09Speaker 1: $ 7 million behind Alabama on this roster. I don't know
- 35:13Speaker 1: if you can do this because I know what you're
- 35:15Speaker 1: looking at there.
- 35:16Speaker 2: I've got every icon. You just touch on it and
- 35:17Speaker 2: it pops up. No, no, no, no, no.
- 35:18Speaker 1: I was just going to ask the national championship line,
- 35:21Speaker 1: like where is the line dollar-wise where you're like, okay,
- 35:23Speaker 1: none of these schools really have a legitimate shot? Well,
- 35:26Speaker 1: I'll just read from top to bottom.
- 35:28Speaker 2: You stop.
- 35:28Speaker 1: All right, let's stop it when we think we get
- 35:30Speaker 1: to a team that does have a shot. Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, LSU, Miami,
- 35:35Speaker 1: Texas A & M, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Tennessee. Alabama,
- 35:40Speaker 1: Texas Tech, USC.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Michigan, Indiana, Florida. I mean, Texas Tech doesn't have a shot.
- 35:45Speaker 1: But you've still got something to do with Indiana.
- 35:48Speaker 2: I don't think Tennessee has a shot. Okay.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Now, after that, you tell me how many of these
- 35:54Speaker 1: still have a chance to win a national championship. South Carolina, Auburn, Georgia, Nebraska,
- 36:02Speaker 1: Penn State, Clemson, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Missouri, Florida State, Virginia Tech,
- 36:08Speaker 1: Mississippi State, UCLA, Vandy, Kentucky, Georgia Tech.
- 36:10Speaker 2: Where's Oklahoma? NC State, Louisville, by the way. Louisville, yeah. Louisville,
- 36:14Speaker 2: 22 to 25.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Louisville's a broke program. What's Oklahoma? Oklahoma is right behind Auburn,
- 36:20Speaker 1: just ahead of Clemson, 28 to 34 million.
- 36:23Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Jim Nagy got a lot of love, friend of ours
- 36:27Speaker 1: from the Senior Bowl, for that roster he's built. I
- 36:30Speaker 1: still maintain they're paying their quarterback too.
- 36:31Speaker 2: Much, but. Or should be paying a different one more. Yeah.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Should be paying a different one more. Yeah. Which gets
- 36:37Speaker 1: me to this before we take our next break. You
- 36:40Speaker 1: brought up Jesse Legree at Oregon State. Oregon State, the receiver, yeah.
- 36:45Speaker 1: And Camario Taylor we talked about. Sam Kahn also at
- 36:48Speaker 1: the Athletic Rights. Hot names for the portal already. Can
- 36:54Speaker 1: you imagine what Camario Taylor's portal number is going to
- 36:57Speaker 1: be or what Mississippi State's going to have to pay
- 37:00Speaker 1: to keep him? Because how many schools– We'll come after
- 37:04Speaker 1: Kamario Taylor this year.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Yeah, we're going to know a lot about him this week.
- 37:07Speaker 2: I've got a sneaky feeling that South Carolina is going
- 37:10Speaker 2: to win that game just because they've kind of dominated
- 37:13Speaker 2: the series. There's so much pressure on him now because really,
- 37:16Speaker 2: and I know Brooks Austin said this yesterday, people aren't
- 37:19Speaker 2: talking about him. Something's wrong. People really haven't been talking
- 37:21Speaker 2: about Kamario Taylor. I'm talking about nationally. With the last
- 37:24Speaker 2: two weeks. Yes, and now there's a huge expectation. I
- 37:27Speaker 2: think everybody's going to be tuning into that game. Now,
- 37:29Speaker 2: if he goes up there and carves that defense up
- 37:31Speaker 2: and they win. On the road in that environment. Just
- 37:34Speaker 2: completely watch out. But to your point, like if he
- 37:36Speaker 2: has that type of year, I don't know, $ 10 million?
- 37:38Speaker 2: Do you still have the numbers open? I do, yes.
- 37:42Speaker 1: What is Mississippi State's? Mississippi State, surprisingly, ahead of Virginia Tech,
- 37:48Speaker 1: Florida State, Vandy, Kentucky, Georgia State. Georgia Tech, NC State, Louisville, TCU, Washington,
- 37:55Speaker 1: they are 25 to 30 million. That's a respectable number. No,
- 37:59Speaker 1: 30 million at State is really good. I would have
- 38:02Speaker 1: to guess 5 million of that right now is going
- 38:04Speaker 1: to Kamario Taylor, if not more. What we don't know,
- 38:07Speaker 1: did he sign a long-term deal? He's pretty much a
- 38:11Speaker 1: Starkville kid. I mean, I don't think he gets listed
- 38:14Speaker 1: as from Starkville, but I think he grew up right
- 38:15Speaker 1: outside of Starkville, if I'm not mistaken.
- 38:17Speaker 2: I think the– is it Cincinnati, though, the area code
- 38:23Speaker 2: that he wears? Is it?
- 38:24Speaker 1: But he's from– Maybe that's where his agent is.
- 38:30Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 38:31Speaker 1: While you're looking that up, I will tell you the
- 38:32Speaker 1: cheapest roster or the most inexpensive roster in the SEC
- 38:36Speaker 1: is Arkansas, but not by a ton, 22 to 25 million.
- 38:38Speaker 1: They're playing like it.
- 38:40Speaker 2: Anything they're paying, they're overpaying. Yeah.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Macon, Mississippi, Knoxville County. So it's not far from.
- 38:47Speaker 2: Starkville.
- 38:48Speaker 1: So he's a Mississippi kid. Now, that doesn't mean anything
- 38:50Speaker 1: because you told me what state's NIL is or what
- 38:55Speaker 1: their roster is. Miami is where you look because that's
- 38:59Speaker 1: who so far has said, if we need quarterback. And
- 39:01Speaker 1: they're one and done every year. That's right. And if
- 39:03Speaker 1: we need quarterback, we'll pay premium for them. They did
- 39:06Speaker 1: it with Mensa and it is working out. They did
- 39:08Speaker 1: it with Carson Beck.
- 39:09Speaker 2: It worked out. They did it with Kim Ward. It
- 39:10Speaker 2: worked out.
- 39:12Speaker 1: And, I mean, that's where I would look is because
- 39:15Speaker 1: Mensah's going to be going to the NFL, right? I mean,
- 39:17Speaker 1: there's nothing that's going to keep Mensah at Miami. He'll
- 39:20Speaker 1: be going to the NFL. That's who Mississippi State will
- 39:23Speaker 1: probably have to fend off if he didn't sign a
- 39:26Speaker 1: long-term deal. And, boy, I hope for State he did.
- 39:29Speaker 1: because he'll either leave or they'll have to pay premium
- 39:32Speaker 1: to keep him, because he will be the hottest name
- 39:35Speaker 1: out there. There are some athletic directors who are probably
- 39:39Speaker 1: at a G6 school, and I'm going to say this number,
- 39:41Speaker 1: and you're going to be like, I don't even know
- 39:43Speaker 1: if I can survive on this number. The worst power
- 39:47Speaker 1: for roster in college football as far as payments, Rutgers,
- 39:51Speaker 1: Boston College, $ 8 million to $ 13 million. Yeah.
- 39:55Speaker 2: Miami.
- 39:56Speaker 1: For instance, there is a player probably playing in college
- 39:58Speaker 1: football that makes more. I was about to say Miami
- 40:00Speaker 1: in that conference has a quarterback that's making probably $ 8 million.
- 40:03Speaker 2: What? I mean, what?
- 40:04Speaker 1: I think that was the rumor on Mensa, right? It
- 40:06Speaker 1: was 6 to 8. So if they're on the bottom
- 40:08Speaker 1: end of their expectation here is $ 8 million and one
- 40:11Speaker 1: player in their league is making more money than their roster.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Boston College is the Tampa Bay Rays of power college football.
- 40:17Speaker 2: That's right.
- 40:17Speaker 1: And you're in the division with the Yankees and the
- 40:19Speaker 1: Red Sox. Sometimes you can win, though. It's happening right
- 40:22Speaker 1: now in Tampa. I bet Boston College doesn't win the ACC.
- 40:23Speaker 1: I bet they don't either.
- 40:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Just thought that was a– go read the story and
- 40:27Speaker 1: all the numbers. The Athletic put that together. Can't imagine
- 40:30Speaker 1: the hours they worked on that at the Athletic and
- 40:33Speaker 1: get a membership.
- 40:34Speaker 2: There with them.
- 40:35Speaker 1: It's a fantastic group of articles if you love college football,
- 40:40Speaker 1: and they've got NFL, NBA. They've got sites for all
- 40:43Speaker 1: of that, and you get access to all that.
- 40:45Speaker 2: With one subscription. Just terrific stuff there.
- 40:48Speaker 1: When we come back, speaking of subscriptions, I'll tell you
- 40:52Speaker 1: how you can get one with Crockett Coffee. But also,
- 40:55Speaker 1: we'll look at some TV ratings from this past weekend.
- 40:59Speaker 1: Pretty big night for Ohio State, Texas. I only missed
- 41:02Speaker 1: it by about 7 million. That's when we come back
- 41:07Speaker 1: on the next round, presented by Sporting State and Hard
- 41:09Speaker 1: Rock Bets. I'll admit, I expect too much out of
- 41:13Speaker 1: things sometimes.
- 41:14Speaker 2: I expect too much out of TV ratings.
- 41:17Speaker 1: I thought Ohio State and Texas would get a massive number.
- 41:22Speaker 1: It apparently did. The most watched regular season primetime game
- 41:27Speaker 1: since 2012. The most watched game on ABC slash ESPN
- 41:34Speaker 1: since 2016 when Ohio State and Michigan got to the number.
- 41:38Speaker 1: But 14 million viewers, nothing to sneeze at, watched Ohio State, Texas.
- 41:45Speaker 2: And that's a....
- 41:47Speaker 1: The best regular season primetime game on any network since 2012.
- 41:51Speaker 1: You know where the bigger audience was? Was that game
- 41:53Speaker 1: at the Big Noon Kick last year, which Fox still
- 41:56Speaker 1: wishes they had those types of games.
- 41:58Speaker 2: 18 million, right?
- 41:58Speaker 1: Yeah, had 18 million last year. And I saw somebody
- 42:00Speaker 1: do this. They took, because Oklahoma-Michigan was the Big Noon
- 42:04Speaker 1: Kick this week, so they took, and it was in
- 42:07Speaker 1: primetime last year, if you remember, so these two games
- 42:09Speaker 1: just basically flipped because of Fox and ESPN, ABC. So
- 42:13Speaker 1: they took both numbers combined, and Fox big noon kick
- 42:16Speaker 1: had the bigger number for their big noon kick of
- 42:19Speaker 1: Ohio State versus Texas and Oklahoma versus Michigan than the
- 42:22Speaker 1: primetime did. So it still shows people will watch the
- 42:26Speaker 1: biggest game no matter where it is. It's why when
- 42:28Speaker 1: everybody's like, God, I wish Fox would give up the
- 42:30Speaker 1: big noon. Well, those numbers tell you. Well, actually what
- 42:32Speaker 1: it's showing is that they'll watch the biggest game better
- 42:35Speaker 1: at 11 o'clock than they will at primetime. That number
- 42:37Speaker 1: will tell you they will.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Is there any chance LSU Ole Miss is a bigger number? Because,
- 42:42Speaker 2: I mean, we love drama and gossip. And I think
- 42:44Speaker 2: for even your cat, this is kind of almost like
- 42:46Speaker 2: a Super Bowl moment where you have not even casual
- 42:49Speaker 2: football fans, people that are just tuning into the Super
- 42:52Speaker 2: Bowl because it's such a spectacle.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Yeah, it's going to need to be a really good
- 42:56Speaker 1: game for one thing.
- 42:58Speaker 2: Yes, but.
- 42:59Speaker 1: But to LT's point, I think people will watch to
- 43:02Speaker 1: see if things are thrown onto the field, if smoke
- 43:04Speaker 1: bombs are lit off.
- 43:05Speaker 2: What Lane's going to say pre-imposed. A security threat.
- 43:09Speaker 1: Like, I will tell you, Ohio State, Texas, one thing
- 43:11Speaker 1: that hurt that number, I literally had two people at
- 43:13Speaker 1: church Sunday morning tell me they went to bed at halftime.
- 43:16Speaker 2: Yeah, turned that game off.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Turned it off and went to bed thinking the game
- 43:19Speaker 1: was over or maybe early third quarter thinking the game
- 43:21Speaker 1: was over.
- 43:22Speaker 2: For sure.
- 43:22Speaker 1: Let me see the numbers one more time there. I
- 43:24Speaker 1: always wait until you pull them down to see them.
- 43:26Speaker 2: We'll reference them back.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Alabama, Kentucky, right there, the number three slot. Missouri, Kansas
- 43:33Speaker 1: from Friday night, high at number four there.
- 43:36Speaker 2: Arizona, BYU.
- 43:38Speaker 1: If I'm the big conferences, if I'm the SEC and
- 43:42Speaker 1: the Big Ten, and I'm the TV partners, I'm looking
- 43:46Speaker 1: at the conferences and saying, hey, you know, we're in
- 43:49Speaker 1: week two, and we've got a Big 12 matchup, Arizona, BYU,
- 43:54Speaker 1: that could be fifth in the ratings. We've got to
- 43:56Speaker 1: do better in our scheduling. Because the Big Ten schedule
- 43:59Speaker 1: this weekend is a joke of a schedule coming up.
- 44:02Speaker 2: Here in week three. Have you seen the entirety of it? Yes.
- 44:05Speaker 2: It's awful.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Rice and Notre Dame is 10th. We've got to do
- 44:09Speaker 1: a better job of scheduling of these big conferences, if
- 44:13Speaker 1: I'm Fox or ABC, ESPN there, just to have better games.
- 44:16Speaker 1: The Big Ten in its totality this weekend is a
- 44:20Speaker 1: joke of a schedule, is it not?
- 44:21Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, your best games are, you know, Maryland
- 44:25Speaker 2: at West Virginia– What's another one I could throw?
- 44:33Speaker 1: Oh, USC at Rutgers? Real quick, Maryland-Virginia Tech.
- 44:35Speaker 2: Yeah, Maryland-Virginia Tech. It's a disaster of a schedule.
- 44:40Speaker 1: I mean, when Fox Big Noon is showing Ohio State,
- 44:44Speaker 1: I mean, I couldn't get through without laughing at Ohio State,
- 44:46Speaker 1: Kent State.
- 44:47Speaker 2: You're kidding me.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Yeah, Kent State at Ohio State, and then the– 230
- 44:51Speaker 1: CBS game, equally as sucky.
- 44:53Speaker 2: It's USC at Rutgers. Yeah. Well, I mean, just think
- 44:55Speaker 2: about these point spreads. So Friday night, Oregon's 58-and-a-half. Ohio
- 45:00Speaker 2: State is 52-and-a-half. Penn State is 39-and-a-half. Minnesota is 24-and-a-half.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Wisconsin is 24-and-a-half. I mean, we're going bottom of the barrel. Illinois,
- 45:13Speaker 2: 41-and-a-half point favorite. Michigan, 35-and-a-half point favorite. Indiana... 44.5 point favorite. Iowa,
- 45:23Speaker 2: 41.5 point favorites. And what's crazy is... Nebraska, 25.5. I mean,
- 45:26Speaker 2: there's no games.
- 45:28Speaker 1: Tony Petitti, the Big Ten commissioner, is almost using their...
- 45:34Speaker 1: This week is almost... They're trying to use this schedule
- 45:37Speaker 1: to hold the SEC hostage when it comes to the
- 45:43Speaker 1: college football playoff expansion. Remember what they said a few
- 45:46Speaker 1: weeks ago? They said, hey, if If the SEC signs
- 45:49Speaker 1: off on 24 teams, we'll make our team play a
- 45:53Speaker 1: power four out-of-conference game. We'll make them play it like
- 45:56Speaker 1: the SEC does. We'll go nine conference games, and we'll
- 46:00Speaker 1: guarantee that you have to play another power league. He
- 46:03Speaker 1: did say that. And today, by the way, on three
- 46:05Speaker 1: reports that Notre Dame and Nebraska have announced a home-and-home,
- 46:09Speaker 1: so maybe that backs that up. It's 2032 and 2033
- 46:11Speaker 1: in October in the middle of the season.
- 46:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:16Speaker 1: So, I mean, maybe that backs that up. But if
- 46:18Speaker 1: I'm sitting here, if I'm Greg Sankey, I'm like, you're
- 46:20Speaker 1: showing me this schedule, and this is the gun to
- 46:24Speaker 1: my head? This is more embarrassing for you than it
- 46:26Speaker 1: is a threat to me. Well, and one thing on
- 46:29Speaker 1: that Notre Dame, and this could help this, the one
- 46:34Speaker 1: thing on the Notre Dame-Nebraska thing is it is a
- 46:36Speaker 1: midseason game. If the Big Ten was willing to come
- 46:40Speaker 1: off the once, you know, we play the first three
- 46:42Speaker 1: weeks out of conference, and then we only play conference
- 46:44Speaker 1: games after that, They're going to have to come off
- 46:46Speaker 1: it for that because Notre Dame-Nebraska is an October game.
- 46:50Speaker 2: USC and Notre Dame will.
- 46:52Speaker 1: Eventually probably move back to at least an October-November schedule eventually.
- 46:59Speaker 1: That would help this because you could get some conference
- 47:01Speaker 1: games in. For instance, the SEC's got a pretty good
- 47:05Speaker 1: middle-of-the-day window name-wise. Now, these games may not end up
- 47:08Speaker 1: being good, but Florida State at Alabama, when that game
- 47:12Speaker 1: was scheduled, that looks like a pretty good game.
- 47:14Speaker 2: That's right.
- 47:14Speaker 1: Probably not going to be. State and South Carolina is
- 47:17Speaker 1: a sneaky good game. We've talked a lot about it today.
- 47:19Speaker 2: Yeah, that didn't look like a good game, and I
- 47:21Speaker 2: think now people are excited about that game.
- 47:22Speaker 1: Kentucky at Texas A & M? I mean, that's not
- 47:25Speaker 1: going to win any TV ratings, but that's got a
- 47:27Speaker 1: chance to be a good game.
- 47:28Speaker 2: Kentucky's trending in a good place. Well, that would be
- 47:30Speaker 2: the best game in the Big Ten this week.
- 47:31Speaker 1: That's right, and you've got three of those just in
- 47:34Speaker 1: the middle window for the Southeastern Conference.
- 47:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, even your Big Ten on Big Ten,
- 47:39Speaker 2: Purdue is a 14.5-point dog to UCLA, and Rutgers are
- 47:42Speaker 2: a 23.5-point dog to....
- 47:46Speaker 1: Main Fox prime time, Colorado at Northwestern. That's one of
- 47:49Speaker 1: your better games of the day in the Big Ten.
- 47:51Speaker 2: Yeah, Northwestern. I mean, that's the skinniest number, Northwestern four
- 47:53Speaker 2: and a half. Isn't that crazy? Well, I guess Virginia
- 47:56Speaker 2: Tech is actually a three-point favorite.
- 47:57Speaker 1: By the way, we have seen a three-touchdown-plus favorite went
- 48:00Speaker 1: out right in the.
- 48:00Speaker 2: First two weeks. You just said USC at Rutgers. Does
- 48:03Speaker 2: that scare you at all, knowing that? No. Okay. No,
- 48:05Speaker 2: not the way Rutgers is playing right now. Not this
- 48:07Speaker 2: Rutgers team.
- 48:08Speaker 1: Final thought here in a second after I remind you,
- 48:10Speaker 1: The folks at Crockett Coffee want to wake you up
- 48:12Speaker 1: in the morning. You can do that with the unbelievable
- 48:16Speaker 1: Davey Surfing Crocodile Logo Coffee, Crockett Coffee. It's the coffee

- 49:09Speaker 1: coffee made in America doing some good. CrockettCoffee.com, CrockettCoffee.com, that's C-R-O-C-K-E-T-T, CrockettCoffee.com.
- 49:20Speaker 1: Longest win streak in America going into week three in
- 49:24Speaker 1: college football is still Indiana at 18. Notre Dame is
- 49:29Speaker 1: next with 12. Utah is next with eight. Pretty interesting.
- 49:34Speaker 1: Indiana is going to be a while before they'll be challenged, right?
- 49:36Speaker 2: Yes, yes. It will be until they play Ohio State.
- 49:41Speaker 2: So how high could this Indiana win streak go? It
- 49:45Speaker 2: could go over 700 days, and at that point, 22?
- 49:51Speaker 1: Pretty impressive there. Well, you know, we talked about this.
- 49:54Speaker 1: I think you were out the day we talked about
- 49:56Speaker 1: this because we did.
- 49:57Speaker 2: First loss. Yeah, we did first loss.
- 49:59Speaker 1: No, no, this is, I think, when we were doing
- 50:00Speaker 1: trap games. We were doing trap games for each team.
- 50:02Speaker 1: And I laugh at that because one of the ones
- 50:04Speaker 1: you and I both brought up was New Mexico at
- 50:07Speaker 1: Oklahoma this weekend because we're like, look where it falls
- 50:09Speaker 1: for Oklahoma.
- 50:10Speaker 2: It's between a trip to Michigan and a trip to Georgia.
- 50:13Speaker 1: And New Mexico's a sneaky good group six team. Now
- 50:16Speaker 1: they've lost their starting quarterback. Now that we get to
- 50:18Speaker 1: that game, it doesn't look daunting at all.
- 50:19Speaker 2: I mean, but Jason Eck is one of these like
- 50:22Speaker 2: up and coming coaches. You know, the last time they
- 50:24Speaker 2: actually beat a ranked team, you know who it was?
- 50:27Speaker 1: The last time New Mexico beat a ranked team?
- 50:28Speaker 2: Oh, I couldn't tell you. 2024 against Washington State. Guess
- 50:31Speaker 2: who the quarterback and offensive coordinator combination were? Get out
- 50:34Speaker 2: of town. It was our buckle of a tear. Shut up.
- 50:36Speaker 1: How about that stat?
- 50:37Speaker 2: Wow. They got tape on it. They do. And it's
- 50:40Speaker 2: too many points this week. I'm telling you. What's the
- 50:42Speaker 2: spread on this one? Right now, I have got Oklahoma
- 50:44Speaker 2: as a 22.5 point favorite. I think they went by
- 50:47Speaker 2: 14 to 17. I think it's the Lobos making it interesting.
- 50:51Speaker 1: Yeah. um what I was when we did that I
- 50:54Speaker 1: brought up the fact that and I and I compared
- 50:56Speaker 1: it to Miami who I think Arizona beat them randomly
- 51:00Speaker 1: on their long win streak Alabama their long win streak
- 51:02Speaker 1: was ended by a bad LSU team back before that
- 51:05Speaker 1: in the 80s a bad Mississippi State team it's always
- 51:09Speaker 1: it's often the ones you don't see coming and I
- 51:10Speaker 1: made a case for Nebraska the week before Ohio State
- 51:13Speaker 1: now I don't know what that point spread is going
- 51:15Speaker 1: to be I've watched Nebraska they don't look We love
- 51:18Speaker 1: the guy, but they don't look great.
- 51:19Speaker 2: Still unbeaten right now, though, right? You know, one of
- 51:22Speaker 2: the things that I brought up, you know, like Mississippi State,
- 51:25Speaker 2: I've got this feeling that Mississippi State could beat Alabama
- 51:28Speaker 2: this year because that state game is right before that gauntlet. Now,
- 51:31Speaker 2: if Kamario Taylor goes up to Columbia and completely shreds
- 51:35Speaker 2: them this week, I mean, that's going to be a
- 51:37Speaker 2: game that Kane Womack's going to be like, holy shit,
- 51:40Speaker 2: this thing has changed a lot. So I don't think
- 51:42Speaker 2: they're going to sneak up on them.
- 51:43Speaker 1: We don't have a kick time for that yet, but
- 51:45Speaker 1: you could almost see if both Alabama and Mississippi State
- 51:48Speaker 1: win this week.
- 51:50Speaker 2: That could be.
- 51:51Speaker 1: I could tell you where it's reserved right now. That
- 51:52Speaker 1: could be an 11 o'clock game.
- 51:54Speaker 2: Yeah, my buddy Brad, who goes to a lot of games,
- 51:56Speaker 2: he thought it was going to be at 11 a.m.
- 51:58Speaker 1: That is in the early window, so it's almost certain
- 52:02Speaker 1: to be 11 a.m.
- 52:03Speaker 2: Now.
- 52:04Speaker 1: As good as state has started, yeah. When they do
- 52:06Speaker 1: that early window, it can only be the 11 a.m.
- 52:09Speaker 1: or that first SEC Network. 11.45. Which is 11.45. So
- 52:13Speaker 1: it's not early and mid-afternoon? It's 11 to 12 Central Time.
- 52:19Speaker 2: And I don't know how you guys feel about it.
- 52:20Speaker 2: I kind of have a feeling South Carolina is going
- 52:22Speaker 2: to win this game.
- 52:23Speaker 1: It's a tough one, man.
- 52:24Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 52:28Speaker 1: I feel like we have– I mean, everybody's– Normally when
- 52:31Speaker 1: you anoint a guy like this this early, it ends
- 52:34Speaker 1: up going bad for him in his next game.
- 52:36Speaker 2: That's what I hate about Camargo. We always say that
- 52:38Speaker 2: about Cam, though. I'll tell you in our next segment.
- 52:40Speaker 1: I may have already placed a bet on that. I'll
- 52:45Speaker 1: check in the commercial and let you know.
- 52:47Speaker 2: I don't know. I can't remember. I did it last night.
- 52:49Speaker 1: I did it last night somewhere midway through a bottle
- 52:52Speaker 1: of wine. It's always the best time to place some bets.
- 52:55Speaker 1: That's midway through a bottle of wine?
- 52:56Speaker 2: Yeah. Kurt Warner tells you it's not. Kurt Warner would
- 53:00Speaker 2: tell you it is not. Kurt's very serious about Kurt. Yeah,
- 53:02Speaker 2: he would tell you it is not. Don't chase your losses.
- 53:04Speaker 1: Don't chase your losses.
- 53:05Speaker 2: Well, that's just good advice right there. It's about only
- 53:07Speaker 2: what you can afford to lose. Go F yourself. That's
- 53:09Speaker 2: what the gambler that's losing right there is saying.
- 53:11Speaker 1: By the way, all the leagues this week, all the
- 53:14Speaker 1: professional leagues and all their players' unions, and I hope
- 53:17Speaker 1: the colleges jump in on this. I hope they do
- 53:19Speaker 1: come up with some strong laws here. They've all come together.
- 53:24Speaker 1: Threatening safety of the athletes or family because of sports wagering.
- 53:30Speaker 1: They're trying to push to get severe laws and punishment
- 53:33Speaker 1: against people who Tweet, text, call, or threaten athletes over
- 53:37Speaker 1: sports gambling costs.
- 53:38Speaker 2: It is the dumbest thing. I mean, it is. Where's
- 53:40Speaker 2: the fine line? Where's the threat and just the criticism?
- 53:43Speaker 1: That's where you get into trouble. If it's bodily harm
- 53:46Speaker 1: and that kind of thing, death threats and stuff.
- 53:48Speaker 2: Trust me, the Oklahoma hate that I've gotten this week
- 53:51Speaker 2: isn't based on the fact that they lost. It's based
- 53:53Speaker 2: on the fact that everybody lost their money on Oklahoma.
- 53:55Speaker 2: That is the next round here on Sporting State.
