A motorcyclist took a brutal spill in the Boise Mountain Range, bleeding heavily with a broken arm—just when help was needed most. With rugged terrain blocking Air St. Luke’s helicopter, the Idaho Army National Guard swooped in with their Black Hawk choppers, the only ones in the state equipped with hoist systems to lift him out safely. Meanwhile, his friends improvised a tourniquet and a medic stabilized him until the rescue arrived. This was the Guard’s seventh rescue of the year—and their third in just July.
