Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: I know you've been waiting for this. You have been
- 0:02Speaker 1: waiting so patiently. In just a few hours, we will
- 0:05Speaker 1: finally know who's won the Nobel Peace Prize, the world's
- 0:08Speaker 1: most prestigious award.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Everyone says that I should get the Nobel Peace Prize
- 0:13Speaker 2: for each one of these achievements. They should give me
- 0:15Speaker 2: the Nobel Prize for Rwanda. If I were named Obama,
- 0:20Speaker 2: I would have had the Nobel Prize give him two
- 0:23Speaker 2: in ten seconds.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Yeah, so he really, really really really wants it bad.
- 0:27Speaker 1: It's been going since nineteen oh one. A bunch of
- 0:29Speaker 1: Norwegians basically sit around a table and sort through their candidates.
- 0:33Speaker 1: This year, there's three hundred and thirty entries. Four US
- 0:36Speaker 1: presidents previously won it. Obama, as Trump mentioned, Roosevelt Woodrow
- 0:40Speaker 1: Wilson won at nineteen nineteen. Jimmy Carter got it two
- 0:43Speaker 1: decades after he left office. But one man wants it
- 0:45Speaker 1: more than anyone else, and even in the last few hours,
- 0:48Speaker 1: Benjamin Nettinya, who has tweeted that Trump should take it.
- 0:51Speaker 2: They won't give me a Nobel Peace bas because they
- 0:53Speaker 2: only give it to liberals. When you get the Nobel Prize.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Absolutely man he got the Nobel Prize for doing nothing.
- 1:00Speaker 2: He's forgetting elected, but I got elected.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Two to the criteria, the prize goes to whoever has
- 1:05Speaker 1: done the most for fraternity between nations, whoever gets rid
- 1:08Speaker 1: of or reduces the size of armies, and whoever basically
- 1:11Speaker 1: promotes peace the most. Basically, who's really good at doing peace.
- 1:15Speaker 2: It's up five nations from going to war, and somebody
- 1:19Speaker 2: else will get the Nobel Peace Price for their writing
- 1:22Speaker 2: about Donald Trump. Be big insult to our country. I
- 1:25Speaker 2: will tell you that they don't want it. I want
- 1:27Speaker 2: the country to get it.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Here's the bad news. Trump's not going to win this
- 1:31Speaker 1: three reasons. One they met and decided on Monday. That
- 1:35Speaker 1: was before this Gaza deal was announced. Two, it actually
- 1:38Speaker 1: isn't even for this yet. It relates basically to twenty
- 1:41Speaker 1: twenty four or prior. Trump wasn't even an office at
- 1:44Speaker 1: that point. The applications for this closed only a month
- 1:48Speaker 1: into his second term. And three he's pulled out of
- 1:51Speaker 1: the Paris Accord. He's pulled out of the World Health Organization,
- 1:54Speaker 1: and they don't really like that. You know, they're not
- 1:56Speaker 1: really into that. So I may be proven wrong in
- 1:59Speaker 1: a couple of hours time. But my money is on
- 2:01Speaker 1: Trump not winning this thing. And if it doesn't happen,
- 2:04Speaker 1: if he doesn't get his worsh if he doesn't get
- 2:07Speaker 1: his way, lookout because he'll probably declare war on for
- 2:10Speaker 1: Old Norway. For more from Early Edition with Ryan Bridge,
