- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Take, where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:06Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes.
- 0:10It all starts right now. Welcome back to the Three O Take
- 0:16presented by Chinook Sitri this episode 548.
- 0:21I'll be here with Kyle Corn. I'm here with my Co host Nate
- 0:23Reyes. Casey, how are we?
- 0:30I got something for you. Yeah, someone I was thinking
- 0:33about. I don't know if we've discussed
- 0:35this, but I noticed something weird for me last night when I
- 0:41was watching games as a fan at home, as a as a as a viewer at
- 0:49home. Do you have any weird
- 0:54superstitions during a game? And I know you're not overly
- 1:00superstitious, but to give you mine to kind of let you know
- 1:05what my base flag is, What? Let's walk that.
- 1:10We're not just going to zoom. I was going to say, like as a
- 1:12player, you weren't overly superstitious.
- 1:14I am extremely superstitious. Really.
- 1:20It has been amazing and as a fan.
- 1:22We literally just talked about this.
- 1:23It's been a minute since we've been on a field on the same
- 1:25field together. You must not.
- 1:27You must not remember very superstitious as a fan.
- 1:31I mean, understandably a little less so, but.
- 1:33Yeah, All right, Well, here's what, because I was, I was a
- 1:39weirdo last night. I was watching the game.
- 1:45Paige came home, was like telling me about her day.
- 1:50So obviously like turned the volume down, right?
- 1:54Good, good. Yeah.
- 1:58And then the Yankees started doing like, putting something
- 2:01together, so I turned the volume up, and then they started to
- 2:12struggle again, so I turned the volume back down.
- 2:15Yeah. So.
- 2:16Yeah, because that was obviously the reason because I started to
- 2:20pay, I started to glue in, I started to lock in and have
- 2:23volume on. So I turned the volume down and
- 2:26walked away as you should have. My question to you is, do you
- 2:31have any weird superstitions at home as if you were that's
- 2:38that's? Something I would do, yeah, the
- 2:40volume thing, like if, if, if I become aware, you know, if it's
- 2:45something happening subconsciously like that and
- 2:48I'm, I'm not aware of it, then I'm presumably not going to do
- 2:52it. But if I'm like, whoa, if that
- 2:54glass, if that glass wall shatters and I'm like, whoa, I'm
- 2:58very clearly controlling the outcome of the game here, Let's
- 3:02let's dial it in, right? Do our part, Do my part, right.
- 3:06Yeah, I would do that. That's all we can do, you know.
- 3:09Yeah, on a scale of like 1 to 10, how superstitious am I as a
- 3:13fan watching the game? I mean, probably like a like a
- 3:216-8 like I'm not going to go. I'm trying to be realistic here
- 3:24like. Stuff what do?
- 3:24What do you well, weird stuff you got.
- 3:26Is it all situational like? I don't.
- 3:30It's not hard for me. I only have maybe two or three
- 3:33articles of clothing that are red, but I don't wear red on
- 3:37days that the Yankees play. Even undies even.
- 3:43We've talked about this, yeah. Even the chonies.
- 3:46I I ain't wearing red chonies on game days.
- 3:49Yeah, that's fair. Yeah.
- 3:52Yeah, I mean, I can't, I can't wear any, any sort of other
- 3:55teams merch while I'm watching. Yep.
- 3:59Correct, I mean, not that I have like this massive collection,
- 4:02but you know, things I've just like picked up at different
- 4:03ballparks and stuff like I can't do it.
- 4:09See, it's not what this is not AI mean I it can be a plug for
- 4:13for our friends over Chinook. But like if if I decide to begin
- 4:18a pack of seeds, if it begin to consume a pack of seeds and
- 4:22things are going rather well, I'm going to continue that even
- 4:26if I've reached my point of like I'm satisfied.
- 4:29Yeah, I'm good. Because it's for the team.
- 4:33That's just a small thing, I'm sure if I if I gave more thought
- 4:36to it I'd I could come up with some more.
- 4:39Yeah, more I do. I'll do weird stuff the other
- 4:45day when I was like, I if I'm again, like it's kind of
- 4:49situational based on the game, but like if I'm sitting down and
- 4:54success is occurring, I I can't get up.
- 4:59I can't get up yet. If the inning ends, then it kind
- 5:02of lets me off the off the hook. Yeah, the the amount of times
- 5:05I've had to hold a pee in, Yeah, it's for the sake of a rally.
- 5:10Yeah, it's, it's a rally. You know what?
- 5:12We can't break that up. So cool.
- 5:14I just want to make sure I wasn't the only weirdo.
- 5:17No, you're not there. I mean, we've got, I mean.
- 5:20Sure, there's plenty of weirdos talking.
- 5:22About Black Cats in the chat walking under ladders, you know,
- 5:26classic. You know, watch out for those.
- 5:31Real quick before we get into this, could tell Marte stuff
- 5:34because I definitely want to spend some time talking about
- 5:36this because I have some thoughts Speaking of
- 5:41superstitions not related to baseball and I think we've
- 5:44talked about this before possibly, but just I want to
- 5:46make sure we're on the same page.
- 5:47Volume. If I tell you volume and I'm
- 5:53asking you about superstition, what does that mean to you
- 5:58changing the volume? It's in increments of fives for
- 6:04me. That's it.
- 6:07That's it. That's tough, OK.
- 6:09So it's like 10/15/2025. Yeah, I mean, I am too, but I'm
- 6:12also it's got to be got to be evens, evens.
- 6:15For sure can't be like on a 19, yeah.
- 6:19No, I would drive the car off the.
- 6:21That would piss my wife off pretty good, yeah.
- 6:26Anyway, OK, glad we glad we wrap that up.
- 6:31Let's talk some ball. Why am I getting notifications
- 6:35about the NBA not talking that ball?
- 6:41We're talking baseball. Let's talk baseball.
- 6:44Katel Marte, How many Like how many times I got I was real.
- 6:55I was. I was getting real upset earlier
- 7:00today just thinking about this because I'm going.
- 7:02You know, I saw the TikTok. It was a good TikTok.
- 7:04Thank you, thank you. Shut up.
- 7:06Plug plug the TikTok. But that's not what this is
- 7:08about. I was on TikTok falls on TikTok.
- 7:11I was I was legit. Oh the NBA draft this night in
- 7:14the chat. Who?
- 7:16Cares. I, I don't, I'm sitting there
- 7:22thinking like, am I overreacting to this?
- 7:25Are are like the majority of people that echo the same
- 7:28sentiment about this as me over like, are are they overreacting
- 7:32to this? But then I thought, I don't know
- 7:37in what scenario, like sports or not, that you would go up to
- 7:44somebody, whether face to face or from afar and call out
- 7:50somebody for the fact that their mother passed away in a car
- 7:56accident. That is so like I I saw so many.
- 8:02Well, I won't say so many people too.
- 8:03Credit to the people in the comments section day.
- 8:06They seem to have their heads on right.
- 8:07But there were a few outliers that were like, you know, it,
- 8:11they the fact that they did they they bought the ticket does
- 8:14entitle them to, you know, say whatever they want.
- 8:17Like, are they free from consequences?
- 8:19No, but they can say whatever they want.
- 8:21And then there were some people in there being like, you just
- 8:24got to be able to tune that out, like you making millions of
- 8:27dollars. You got to be better than that.
- 8:28I'm like, I don't care if they were making billions of dollars
- 8:33and try to wrap your head around a scenario, a situation where
- 8:39you would go to somebody at their place of work and say,
- 8:44hey, your mom's dead. She died in a car accident.
- 8:49I don't know exactly what was said, but the fact that this
- 8:52person was ejected and later banned, not from from rate
- 8:56field, but all Major League parks, I'm going to go ahead and
- 9:01assume. And also considering the fact
- 9:04that they apologize and were like they were, they're very
- 9:07regretful and remorseful. Spare me.
- 9:10There's intentionality behind saying that this, this isn't
- 9:15this isn't getting caught up in a situation where it's like I
- 9:17just caught got caught up in the heat of the moment.
- 9:19No, like you got to dig into some pretty, pretty weird dark
- 9:24places to pull that one out of the bag.
- 9:26Also, how do you further, further proving my point?
- 9:29How, like, how do you know this if, if you're a, if you're a
- 9:33White Sox fan or let's not even say they're a White Sox fan
- 9:37because I saw a White Sox fan saying we don't claim this
- 9:39person. Let's just say you're not a fan
- 9:42of the Diamondbacks. So good chance you don't know
- 9:44about Catelle Marte's, you know, family history.
- 9:48You're pulling this up. You have to you have to be
- 9:51pulling this up, presumably. So that tells me that not only
- 9:57did you look it up, you then looked it up and then made the
- 10:01decision to say it that no, spare me the whole while I'm
- 10:04really regretting my actions. Stop, stop this, this whole
- 10:09thing. I, I'm, I'm so over it.
- 10:10And I, like I said on the, the video I put out, we're we're
- 10:13what, two months maybe removed from the Jaron Duran situation
- 10:17where you had a fan and I don't want to, I don't want to
- 10:20misattribute the, the fan base. I want to say it was in
- 10:23Cleveland, but I don't quote me on that.
- 10:25I think it was Cleveland, but maybe not not important.
- 10:30Regardless a fan telling him to kill himself.
- 10:34Yeah. Is there an I mean, tell me, is
- 10:37there an amount of money that makes you immune to responding
- 10:42to that? I think not.
- 10:45I mean, the amount of hard O's I saw in the comments section that
- 10:50were just like, these guys are snowflake people are soft.
- 10:53And look, I think you and I can both agree being, you know, we,
- 10:59I feel like we learn more old school than not.
- 11:02And not just in baseball, but just, you know, the way, the way
- 11:05we look at life, you know, we're, we're we're on the other
- 11:08side of 30 now. So we've, we've had a little bit
- 11:10of time on this planet. I think you and I can both agree
- 11:13that, yeah, there are facets of society where we have gotten
- 11:18exceptionally soft. And I'm not going to deny that.
- 11:20Sure, yeah. But like, I don't, I, I also
- 11:25don't want to live in a world where I'm expected to be this
- 11:30tough guy. If somebody, if I, if I had a
- 11:33parent that had passed away and somebody's calling me out about
- 11:36it, like, oh, it like is, were we tough back in the day that we
- 11:41wouldn't have? Like you're telling me guys back
- 11:44in the day, I'm going to go ahead and make the argument.
- 11:47The guys back in the day are going up into the stands.
- 11:50You're telling me this guy's in the 40s, fifties, 60s, if they
- 11:53heard something like that, they're not going up into the
- 11:55stands on something like that. Come on this whole thing I'm,
- 11:58I'm over it. I the, the, the people need to
- 12:01understand that again, just because you purchase a ticket to
- 12:05get into the game does not entitle you to say whatever you
- 12:09want. You have to.
- 12:10You have to maintain a a level of human decency at the very
- 12:15least. I know it's asking a lot, but
- 12:17that's bare minimum dude. It's.
- 12:23I think there's a lot of positive things that have come
- 12:27from social media. I mean, it's likely that you and
- 12:32I aren't doing this right now without social media, but the
- 12:38level of what is it desensitizing that's that's
- 12:47happened, the lack of accountability for what you say
- 12:58it's, it's really, really altered our culture in that way,
- 13:04especially morally. And I mean, I, I think what's
- 13:10tough is that like not saying you have to experience a, a
- 13:16close loss like that to, to fathom how ridiculous this is to
- 13:23do, correct. But if you have had suffered a,
- 13:28a difficult loss like that, like it, it's hard to wrap your mind
- 13:32around like any part of this being a joke, any part of this
- 13:38being morally acceptable. It's crazy, man.
- 13:46Like I and for baseball players, like specifically around this
- 13:51scenario, like I don't know, for me, like my mom is, is is the
- 14:00reason baseball is so important to me.
- 14:03Like my mom showed a didn't miss a single practice or game my
- 14:07entire childhood. Like and I know Mama Corwin was
- 14:11the same way. Like it's just like, I can't
- 14:14imagine hearing that. I can't imagine losing my mom
- 14:17and I can't imagine being in my workplace.
- 14:23And and I can speak first hand that after a difficult loss,
- 14:28like going back to work is it is a very welcome distraction.
- 14:34And especially doing this, you know, beautiful game
- 14:37professionally, like you got to imagine that is the ultimate
- 14:42escape, then that is the ultimate.
- 14:44I mean, how many players do we hear about the going and
- 14:49performing after a loss of a family member and, and being
- 14:53glad to just be back out there and going back to work or
- 14:56dedicating that performance to to whoever you just lost?
- 15:04It's pretty sick, man. Like it's, it's really, really
- 15:08sad to even for this to even be a story and like the fact that
- 15:14you had Tori Lovello crying after the game and, and hugging
- 15:20his guy like he's like you're seeing a dude like a grown man
- 15:23on the field crying. Like it, it's not about money,
- 15:30it's not about the profession, It's not about what you have the
- 15:34right to do. It's just like stop and think
- 15:40for a SEC man. Like why would you ever say that
- 15:44to someone? I had people in the not to not
- 15:48to cut you off, but it made me think about reading a comment or
- 15:51two in the on the on the under the post today.
- 15:55And there were, there was people saying that like, I've lost both
- 15:59of my parents and could tell Marte is a better person than I
- 16:03am because had I heard that, there's no telling what would
- 16:07have happened. And you know, I, I can't, I'm
- 16:10not going to fault that response at all because I'm like, it, it
- 16:15goes back to what I said in, in the video I put out today.
- 16:17I'm like, think just, and I get, I, I told people in the video, I
- 16:21was like, just take a second and actually think about like put
- 16:25yourself in a situation where you are at your cubicle, at your
- 16:29place of work, whatever it may be, and there's somebody
- 16:32standing right there and they're calling out the fact that your
- 16:36mother passed away. Yeah.
- 16:40I'm like how, how there's anybody that that defends this
- 16:47or tries to justify it makes no sense to me.
- 16:51I'm like. Human decency at this point and
- 16:53like we're like there there is this barbaric aspect to sports
- 17:00that I think people look at it right.
- 17:02And like when you go back in time and look at like sports
- 17:07originated from people dying like that's it's been it's in,
- 17:13you know, it's gladiators. It's you know what I mean?
- 17:15Like that, that rawness is still there to a level and there's
- 17:25this weird like natural line that's crossed, I guess, with
- 17:36fans that just like I, it doesn't make sense to me and
- 17:40like I'm, I'm not a huge fan, but I I respect like UFC, Like
- 17:44I, I think UFC is like it. I can see why it's entertaining
- 17:48and like I've I've seen a couple fights and like you can get into
- 17:50it a little bit, but like you see the like the barbaric side
- 17:54of that. And you see guys that are just
- 17:56like in that arena, just screaming and yelling and like
- 17:59saying whatever they want to these guys that they would never
- 18:03say to their face if there wasn't a chain link fence
- 18:06between them. And I don't know if if that
- 18:10carries over into some of the other levels.
- 18:13And I mean, like, I think besides UFC, like football is
- 18:18probably as barbaric as it can get with putting your bodies on
- 18:21the line and like watching these guys do things that are humanly
- 18:27incredible. And I don't know if maybe that
- 18:31mentality just bleeds over to other fans specifically coming
- 18:35to baseball or or whatever. I just either way, man, like
- 18:41there's no excuse. There's just, there's no reason
- 18:44there. I, I don't understand it.
- 18:46It's really sad to like, see that this is even a story.
- 18:49It's really sad. Like imagine the Marte family,
- 18:53like seeing that these notifications are going out on
- 18:56phones right now. And like, he's he's being put
- 19:00on, you know, national spotlight, not for his
- 19:03performance, which has been incredible this year, but for
- 19:07this. Like, that's sickening.
- 19:10And imagine how private it it feels to lose a family member
- 19:15and then all of that like that privacy and like it's just
- 19:20thrown out there. It's all undone.
- 19:22Everyone knows it. It's it's been 8 years.
- 19:25It's horrible man. Like I didn't, I didn't know he
- 19:28had lost his mother. Like I didn't know this is a
- 19:30story until this and it's just like.
- 19:33It's been 8 years. Think of all the healing that's
- 19:35had to take place there. And you have to imagine that a
- 19:38good portion of that was undone by some 22, however old idiot.
- 19:45It couldn't keep his mouth shut. I saw, I mean the, the people I
- 19:47said like who hasn't said something stupid at 22?
- 19:49I said I, I, I don't know what 22 year olds you're hanging
- 19:53around, but I never in my life would I go around talking about
- 19:56something like this as somebody. It's crazy dumb stuff, but I
- 20:00can't imagine ever. Unbelievable that.
- 20:04Going somewhere and screaming out that to another person, but
- 20:08I don't know. Yeah, and in the chat, goodbye.
- 20:10I was literally just about to say classy move by the White
- 20:14Sox. They, you know, they that was
- 20:15awesome to see put out that message on the board.
- 20:18It it definitely I, I actually didn't see whether or not he got
- 20:22any sort of ovation. I'm sure he.
- 20:24He did. He did OK.
- 20:25There was a lot of there was an ovation and then there was a lot
- 20:28of people that made like the. The handmade sign, I didn't see
- 20:31those. Yeah, yeah.
- 20:32So like. That's that's cool, man, because
- 20:35look, like if there's anybody that can say I don't speak, but
- 20:41I don't speak for certain fans that we're the same team as I
- 20:45do, Like I I get that. So yeah, man, just just tough
- 20:52stuff. And for what it's worth, like I
- 20:55I don't know what he did today. I'm looking at not that it's
- 21:03like it matters at all, but I mean, he went over four with a
- 21:06couple punch outs I think. So like, I don't these guys are
- 21:11human beings too. Like that.
- 21:14I really don't understand. Like they're, I'm sure half the
- 21:18people listening to this have the same goals that these guys
- 21:21have. And if you're telling me that if
- 21:25you were in their shoes and you're making millions of
- 21:28dollars and you're able to just block stuff out and suddenly be
- 21:33different than who you are right now, like it's hard to it's hard
- 21:36to believe that. So I hate it.
- 21:40Let's I never want to talk about that again, for sure.
- 21:43I hope that that's a non story and I hope, yeah, prayer like
- 21:47honestly like prayers to the Marte family because that's.
- 21:51That's tough. That's tough.
- 21:56Yeah. I mean, if there's if there's, I
- 21:58mean, not to like put down other sports in this regard because
- 22:01it's important across the board, but I feel like it's hard to
- 22:04find like a fraternity. But when it comes to things like
- 22:07that, like you do in baseball, like those guys, because because
- 22:11you're around each other all day, every day longer than any
- 22:16other sport for a given season, like you're they're going to
- 22:19wrap their arms around this guy and I, you know, I fully, I
- 22:22fully trust that the the D backs are going to pick him up, you
- 22:28know, as. Best they can do, they do.
- 22:30They come home soon, I'm sure. Like, at at least if it was me
- 22:38tomorrow, Marlins. Or Friday.
- 22:42If it was me, like I, I wouldn't want anything talked about it
- 22:46again, I wouldn't want any more attention towards it, but I
- 22:51wouldn't be surprised if there's a little some type of standing O
- 22:55you know that home for him when he comes up for the first time.
- 22:58He's having such a great year. I hope this doesn't derail him
- 23:01in any way. Like he's literally going to be
- 23:04in the MVP conversation for how well he's doing.
- 23:06So I hope he be able to shake it off.
- 23:10Idiot, idiot scumbag. I don't, by the way, not to like
- 23:15we don't need to go on this much longer, but like I genuinely
- 23:18don't know how the bands work. I don't under like the bands to
- 23:23get banned from all our bands. Like I don't like it.
- 23:27Do you show your, you don't ever show your ID?
- 23:29Like I maybe I can understand like if they somehow can prevent
- 23:35you from like purchasing a ticket online based on your
- 23:37name. But like overall, I, there's no,
- 23:40like Spencer said in the chat, like there's not really a way to
- 23:43enforce it. I if someone slides you a
- 23:47ticket, if you print out a ticket, you walk like no one's,
- 23:51there's no name attached to any of that.
- 23:53So as nice as it is for MLB to do that, and I hope that there's
- 24:01some other type of retribution in in some way, but like it's
- 24:04just, it feels insufficient because there's no way to
- 24:07enforce it. Time will tell.
- 24:14Time will also tell just how how deep of a run these Tigers can
- 24:23go on. Because I tell you what, with
- 24:25every day that passes, they're becoming more real.
- 24:28Tigers first team to fifty wins, notching their 50th win
- 24:33yesterday, Tuesday Tuesday, today's Wednesday Tuesday,
- 24:40Tuesday, Tuesday ain't it. They took down my my SEC
- 24:47Sacramento A's. Crazy time to pause.
- 24:54Yeah, sorry. Yeah, that was the realization
- 24:58like halfway through. Yep.
- 25:02What? Yeah, Yeah.
- 25:04No, there's no, there's no clear in that clear in that air.
- 25:10Yeah. Sacramento A's, well, if they
- 25:12stayed in Oakland, we wouldn't have run into that issue, would
- 25:14we? Sure.
- 25:16Sure. Nate, let me ask you this.
- 25:21Sure. First team to somebody, correct
- 25:26me if I'm wrong. First team to 30 wins.
- 25:29First team to 40 wins. First team to fifty wins.
- 25:35At what point does the narrative, if it's not there
- 25:41already, at what point does the narrative surrounding the
- 25:43Detroit Tigers begin to evolve as one that takes them as
- 25:51seriously as they're playing and are deserving?
- 25:55Because I feel like in, in my own head, and I'm sure it in the
- 25:59minds of other baseball fans around the league that aren't
- 26:01Tigers fans, they're looking at this and going, isn't this the
- 26:06Tiger? The same Tigers that was, that
- 26:10were the joke or a joke in the league for for years upon years.
- 26:20I mean, because you got you got you.
- 26:21Got to remember to like, shake that stigma off right the.
- 26:24Sample size is is small, but in in what they've done like I
- 26:28think I read the day that they didn't reach this this threshold
- 26:32until late July last year and they're the first team to 50 and
- 26:36it's June well, yesterday, June 24th.
- 26:41So at what point, at what point does the narrative shift on the
- 26:45Detroit Tigers? Because I understand what
- 26:49everybody's saying about the the Dodgers being the best team in
- 26:51baseball still. And and they're, you know,
- 26:53they're, they're just behind them.
- 26:54So I'm not sitting here saying just because of the first of 50
- 26:56means of the best team in baseball, But like they're, and
- 27:01I've said it on here before very recently even they're doing it
- 27:05on both sides of the baseball. They're top, they're top six in
- 27:10both team ERA and team OPS. There aren't many holes with
- 27:15this Detroit Tigers team. So it like, I don't know, I'm,
- 27:19I'm just wondering like when, when the respect is going to be
- 27:23more mainstream than it is, because I feel like it's still
- 27:26it's the the Tigers still have this vibe of like, oh, this is
- 27:30like a sleeper, like this is a sleeper World Series pick kind
- 27:35of team. But I'm like, who else is who
- 27:38else is proving that they're worthy of, of the spot that the
- 27:42Tigers currently hold is the best team in in the American
- 27:44League, in baseball, specifically the American
- 27:47League, But I I just don't know, not the Yankees.
- 27:52Yeah, I mean, I I don't know if it's like if it's to blame, like
- 27:58the rest of the Ali don't know if we need to like I mean their
- 28:06division isn't very good. Like it's I'm not trying to say
- 28:11that it's all like associated to that.
- 28:17I think Tarek school is incredible when he's on the
- 28:23mound. It's hard to say he's not the
- 28:24best pitcher in baseball right now, but there this there.
- 28:30I don't know if there's maybe just like this lack of like
- 28:33stardom. I'm and and who cares, right?
- 28:40Like they're obviously a very complete team and like they
- 28:44don't care if they have a superstar or not.
- 28:47But I think we're so infatuated with like numbers, we're just so
- 28:56into individual numbers, whether it be, you know, Sprint speed or
- 29:01exit velocity or pitching velocity or home run totals.
- 29:06Like we're we're getting so like wrapped up in numbers that are
- 29:14just sexy. And when you look at the the
- 29:18Tigers, like there isn't necessarily like a super sexy
- 29:24guy on that team that puts up like a super sexy stat, you know
- 29:28what I mean? I think they're a great team.
- 29:31I think they're must watch baseball right now, but maybe we
- 29:37don't have the attention span for it.
- 29:39Like, you know what I mean? Like I, I don't know what it is.
- 29:42I agree with you. They feel like an underdog
- 29:45still, even though they're the best team in baseball right now.
- 29:48Like it's very odd to me. I'm excited to see them add.
- 29:52I'm excited to see them bolster up when it comes to the
- 29:56deadline. I don't know them well enough to
- 30:01to say what they need. I'm I'm going to go ahead and
- 30:04just kind of say based on like Jack Flaherty not being as good
- 30:10as he has been, maybe they add to the starting pitching.
- 30:17I don't know, man, it's weird. Maybe it's just because the AL
- 30:20sucks. Let's be honest, the AL sucks
- 30:24the AL Central not great. They're running away with the
- 30:28division and there's it's a 9 1/2 game lead right now.
- 30:34Cleveland is a game over 500. It's not very interesting.
- 30:41Royals three games under Twins 1 and 9 in their last 10.
- 30:49Didn't I say on here wasn't it the Twins like a a few weeks
- 30:52back? Yeah, yeah, it was.
- 30:55I think they had a winning streak, didn't they Like a long
- 30:58winning streak? Yeah, and I was.
- 30:59Like like 8 or 10 games. Enjoy this while you can, twins
- 31:02fans. Twins are who we thought they
- 31:05were. That's right.
- 31:07Winning streak doesn't matter. It don't The losing streak,
- 31:12that's what matters. It do that's.
- 31:14When, you know, you've got the team that you think you have and
- 31:19they are the team that we thought they were.
- 31:23Yeah. Good on the Tigers, Good on the
- 31:26Tigers. I mean, to your point, that's
- 31:28something I haven't even, I hadn't even really considered
- 31:30because they've just been playing so good that it's like,
- 31:32what do they need to do at the deadline?
- 31:34But why would like, why not? Like, why not go for it?
- 31:37So that's something that I'm I'm very much looking forward to.
- 31:40Me too. And like I remember when we
- 31:41talked about like the Glaber edition in in the offseason,
- 31:47we're like, man, like what are they going to do with such a
- 31:49like a plethora of infielders? You don't really know what's
- 31:52going to be what. Like, Spencer Torkelson got off
- 31:57to such a great start at the beginning of the year and he
- 31:59kind of like has come back down to earth.
- 32:02I know Riley Green is like deserves to probably be a
- 32:06household name by the end of this year.
- 32:08I mean we just talked about it last episode dude.
- 32:10Just starting in the outfield for the All Star game.
- 32:12Like Parker Meadows is a certified stud.
- 32:16Like you have Javi Baez, who is a vet who's like accepted his
- 32:20new role and is like willing to play different positions.
- 32:23Like they all things are going Tigers way.
- 32:28There just isn't like I don't know what it is.
- 32:33There's just not something that's like I can't I need to
- 32:37throw a tigers game on, you know what I mean?
- 32:39And if school isn't isn't throwing, I'm just like, I don't
- 32:42know, like I don't know what it is about them.
- 32:44They're just and maybe that's a good thing.
- 32:46Maybe I I wouldn't care. You know what I'm saying?
- 32:49Like if I'm on the Tigers, like whatever.
- 32:50If you don't watch, I don't care.
- 32:52We're good. We're going to keep throwing out
- 32:53dubs. I got to Fact Check you though.
- 32:57Real. Quick, because I don't want to
- 32:58hear it in the in the DMS be like, oh, what is he talking
- 33:00about? Parker Meadows off the field,
- 33:04I'm sure certified G, but his his Austin Meadows.
- 33:09Is that one? There's two meadows?
- 33:11Which one? You said am I have it?
- 33:14Do I? Have the right one.
- 33:15Parker Meadows. No, no.
- 33:16What I was going? To say is though, this year
- 33:18though, his short stint that he's had thus far this season,
- 33:21he's only played eighteen games. He's only hitting a $1.77 with a
- 33:25no I think I think. He's a stud.
- 33:26I I think he's going to be fine. Just slow start.
- 33:29Yeah, yeah, I. Think he's going to be?
- 33:30Really good, just wanted to. Clear the air there because I
- 33:33didn't want to deal with that in the comments.
- 33:35No, I mean, that's fine. I don't.
- 33:37Need to like look up stats now. I think he's good.
- 33:39I think that's a good core. I like that tour because like
- 33:42started to figure it out. I good for Glaber on getting
- 33:45back to, you know, well, I think learning his role a little bit
- 33:49and just kind of accepting like the type of player he is.
- 33:52It just I don't know what it was of like him being in a Yu.
- 33:57Maybe it's the stadium. Maybe he's just like this is the
- 34:00player I need to be. And it just he over swung so
- 34:04often struck out a ton, but now he's I'm pretty sure he's
- 34:07leading the team in on base percentage and it's like he's
- 34:09figured out who he is. He just.
- 34:13Look, we knew. That when AJ Hinch was brought
- 34:16on that he was going to bring in some winning culture then like,
- 34:21say what you will about everything with the scandal,
- 34:23like he's a good manager and he knows what he's doing I.
- 34:27Just. I don't know if I expected it to
- 34:30be this quick, man, and I didn't know if I expected it to be best
- 34:34in baseball at any point. And it is they.
- 34:39Just win, they have a deep roster and for people saying.
- 34:43Like there's still there's still time.
- 34:45We're literally officially at the halfway point like we have,
- 34:48we have concluded 81 games, Tigers best in baseball.
- 34:53It's crazy. It's crazy, but that's reality.
- 34:56And they're they're good. They're very well could be a
- 34:58low. There's always a low, there's
- 35:00always a little bit of skid that's baseball.
- 35:03And well, like we talked about, that's what this.
- 35:05Is that's why they loaded. Up on wins.
- 35:07And that's where exactly not inevitable low comes.
- 35:12Stock up wins. It's done.
- 35:17I'm going. To I'm just going to say it's
- 35:18done. Yeah, yeah.
- 35:21I mean. I'm watching the Royals game
- 35:23right now and it it doesn't move the needle for me whatsoever,
- 35:26which is sad because that was the, I think we just talked
- 35:29about this last episode. That was the team I went with
- 35:31out of the central. You went guards, I went guards.
- 35:34Think I went Royals. Royals.
- 35:36The Royals don't move the needle for me whatsoever.
- 35:40I'm just I. I know I say this a lot.
- 35:43I'm not trying to like beat a dead horse here, but like there
- 35:46are teams who everyone thought was going to be in the hunt and
- 35:52they may be able to turn it around.
- 35:53But like, when the deadline comes, you're going to have some
- 35:57massive names that are available if teams that should sell do
- 36:03sell. There's some massive.
- 36:06Names that are going to be out there, teams that should sell.
- 36:09But weren't expected to sell at the start of the season, is what
- 36:12you're saying? Yeah, Yeah, exactly.
- 36:13No, I'm expected to be in the haunt like have this.
- 36:16Roster configuration where like if you look at it right now,
- 36:18you're like, that's probably a good team, but then you look at
- 36:21their record and you're like, well, you should probably get
- 36:24rid of some guys. I mean, I I think Pasquantino.
- 36:29Could be an impact bat. Somewhere an impact lefty first
- 36:32baseman is needed. I've predicted he's going to be
- 36:37a Red Sox for a while now. I'm kind of kind of dying on
- 36:40that hill. But like, you look at the
- 36:42Royals, you look at the Guardians in their bullpen, like
- 36:46if they don't start figuring it out, And I know the IT seems to
- 36:49me like all of these teams are probably going to fight for that
- 36:52wild card spot because there's so many just mid teams in the
- 36:56AL. But like the Guardians have two
- 37:00pieces they can move. The Twins have like, is Byron
- 37:03Buxton going to go put on a new uniform and make a playoff run
- 37:07with somebody? Like you have names that are
- 37:10really, really impactful in the AL that are on very
- 37:15underperforming teams right now. And I'm excited to see if those
- 37:19guys end up getting moved and where they get moved to.
- 37:23And like I said, I don't know what necessarily the Tigers
- 37:26need. But I'm excited to see what.
- 37:31They do to bolster up and and bring this thing home.
- 37:37It's good to see. It's good to see.
- 37:45What do we got? No, that was just for fun.
- 38:01Sorry, sorry. I mean I got to keep you all on
- 38:04your toes. No, that was for that was a a
- 38:08tip of the cap to Jacob the Grom.
- 38:11I saw that he was just pulled had a no hitter through seven.
- 38:16I didn't catch the the final line.
- 38:18I think he was was he in the 8th a lot?
- 38:23I guess he I guess they started the 8th with a hit but was
- 38:27perfect through 6. I think had a no hitter through
- 38:297. Just wanted to get that on the
- 38:31on the radio names that could be moved.
- 38:37Yeah, and I don't wow. 7 and he was at 89 pitches, so he was.
- 38:46Was it a hit that? That led off the 8th.
- 38:49It was a hit. He did have two.
- 38:50Walks, by the way, so he wasn't perfect, but he did have a no
- 38:52hitter. Well, it's perfect through 6 I.
- 38:53Think and then have a no hitter through 7/7 punches too.
- 38:57Anyway, freaking Orioles, pack it in.
- 39:02Speak about a team and he's pack.
- 39:03It in the Pittsburgh Pirates benched O'Neill Cruz on Tuesday.
- 39:09No disrespect to the Pirates, no.
- 39:12Disrespect. I think you.
- 39:13Guys are great, but. No, you're.
- 39:18Great. No, no, no, you for real.
- 39:20You guys are great. Love you guys much love.
- 39:23Did you see the clip? Did you see why did?
- 39:26You watch it, yeah, and look tough.
- 39:29Look, terrible look, but look, people are going to look at this
- 39:33and go, oh, going to be negative again.
- 39:36You know what, I'm going to choose to, I'm going to choose
- 39:38to take the positive route here with the O'Neill's cruise
- 39:40benching. That's good, because I'm going
- 39:41to go negative. OK, you go ahead first.
- 39:46Which by the way, I I I I watched.
- 39:48The I watched. The game today for another we we
- 39:51got to talk we got to talk this this match up on the mound from
- 39:55today. But I did see that he was in the
- 39:57game, so they they must have ironed it out 'cause I think.
- 40:02Don Kelly, their manager, said that they were going to talk
- 40:05about it after the game. So it seems like we got things
- 40:07ironed out but and he so he did play.
- 40:09But anyway, go ahead. I don't if we got well.
- 40:12I'm sure Josh is in the chat so if you want to hop in and throw
- 40:14a take in Josh, shout out Bridge to Bucktober.
- 40:19Podcast Shout out to Little Love.
- 40:22I like Don Kelly. I've so far I like I see he's
- 40:25already gotten tossed a few times.
- 40:27Seems to me like he's he's kind of coming in and just.
- 40:31Finding his voice, I'm sure. His first time manager but like
- 40:35I I like this my. Negative stuff.
- 40:41I'm, I'm going to be honest with you, I'm, I think he's better,
- 40:49but I'm starting to get like Yasiel Puig vibes from O'Neill
- 40:56Cruz. Well.
- 40:58That was and it's just like. It's like this lack of
- 41:02attention, lack of effort that shows up occasionally and then
- 41:07there's just full on electricity when he's when he's going, you
- 41:11know what I mean? Like just flip the switch out of
- 41:13nowhere. Right and.
- 41:16I mean, the number of errors he's had in center field, the
- 41:20number of balls that I've seen him just like it's a single and
- 41:23it's a 15 hopper to him and it sneaks under the glove and goes
- 41:28to the wall. Like that's happened a handful
- 41:31of times this year. That's a lack of attention.
- 41:34That's a lack of effort. And I think this.
- 41:38Is one of the only ways you can get through to a guy like this.
- 41:41Like, look, you have all the talent in the world you have.
- 41:46You are one of the most athletic players to step on this field.
- 41:49Let's face it. But like dude, I don't.
- 41:56I don't understand what's not. It's just what is not clicking
- 41:59for you to just tap it in, you know what I mean?
- 42:03And it's tough. I I can imagine it being very,
- 42:07very tough to put on that uniform every day.
- 42:11And get out there and just give. 110% and be locked in for every
- 42:15pitch for a team that's. Yeah, that's brutal, right?
- 42:21For a. Team that's just absolutely
- 42:22brutal to to be on the field for right now.
- 42:24I get that. But you're very.
- 42:28Clearly the franchise guy. You're very clearly the glue.
- 42:36Everyone's looking at you to. Be the example.
- 42:40Then you're a superstar and. You're let's face it, you're the
- 42:43only reason any Pirates highlights are being put on TV.
- 42:50The outside of skeets. Yeah, OK, there we.
- 42:52Go Yeah, yeah, yeah. Offensively, offensively, when
- 42:55it comes to swinging a baseball bat, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:58No, for sure. No disrespect to anyone else on
- 43:00all night on that although hold. On skins hit in college and if
- 43:05I'm not mistaken was drop bombs. Drop bombs.
- 43:08Maybe a missed opportunity there anyway.
- 43:11OK, Is that a? Is that a crazy?
- 43:12Take though like it. Do you see?
- 43:15I don't see a. Correlation.
- 43:16Well, to your point about the pirates, look at him to be like,
- 43:19oh, what did you say? I don't want to put word in your
- 43:21mouth. You said to look to him to be a
- 43:23leader or or or something. I wouldn't say leader.
- 43:25But I would say like the example, like the, well, that's
- 43:28the guy. Like the?
- 43:30It's the franchise piece. It's we're going to build around
- 43:33you kind of guy, granted. He's he's earlier along in his
- 43:38career. O'Neill Cruz, but this is very
- 43:44similar situation. I'm seeing a lot of the Raffi
- 43:47Devers situation here where it's like.
- 43:51I'm not. I'm not trying.
- 43:52To be this leader, I'm not trying to be this guy that
- 43:54people look to. I'm just going to go out and.
- 43:56Do what I do very. Well, and I, I know he's he's
- 43:59had his mistakes again, Cruz, we're talking here.
- 44:03He's had his mistakes and he's he's still learning, but I don't
- 44:07think he has any any That's that guy that people look to totally
- 44:12fine and. I however, I think that's fine,
- 44:15but like it's such a disservice to.
- 44:19To for the. Athleticism that you have to do
- 44:23stuff like this to I I would kill to know what it's like to
- 44:31fly down the baseline like that and put in a hard 90 and like it
- 44:37you can beat out 95% of the potential double plays you hit
- 44:41into and this is like a very you just coasting in first gear kind
- 44:46of thing like I I respect the benching I respect on Kelly it
- 44:52needed to be done I hope there was a little chat with kutch
- 44:56let's. Not take this.
- 44:58Game or your athleticism for granted and let's not do this
- 45:02anymore. Dude I was watching the game
- 45:05talking. About his athleticism, I, I was
- 45:07watching the game today and again we'll, we got some other
- 45:09things to get to on that, but. There was like 3 ball.
- 45:13Or at least what felt like 3 balls in a row that were hit to
- 45:16him in the outfield and they're like, yeah, he's going to hold
- 45:19up at third, don't want to test that arm.
- 45:21And dude just hums it into home plate.
- 45:25I'm like, that must be nice. I wonder what that dude, But
- 45:28what? I was going to say.
- 45:30Take the 90. 8 from take 350 feet away, taking the positive
- 45:34twist here. The accountability I don't.
- 45:39Know if you saw saw the quote? Huge fan of what O'Neill Cruz
- 45:44had to say. Didn't try to shove it off,
- 45:46didn't try to sweep it under the rug, he said.
- 45:52Cruz admitted he lost track of the outs of the inning, which
- 45:54led to him pulling up on the double play ball.
- 45:57He added through an interpreter that he agreed with Kelly's
- 46:00decision. DK had all quote, DK had all the
- 46:04rights to do what he did and I'll back him up on that, Cruz
- 46:08said through the interpreter. It was my fault because I
- 46:10thought there were two outs in that situation.
- 46:12That's why I let off running the first base.
- 46:15Again, don't agree with the letting off in any situation.
- 46:19You know from like a soapbox type position, but.
- 46:25The fact that he acknowledged. It the fact that he said he has
- 46:28every right, I'll back him up on that.
- 46:30You know that that takes a maturity.
- 46:32So that's encouraging. I've said this before.
- 46:34I think I one of the best, most amazing things about not just
- 46:40baseball, but sports is that like you have to have managers
- 46:45that didn't necessarily have all the incredible Hall of Fame
- 46:51talent in the world. They make the best coaches and
- 46:53best managers because they had to work for it, because they had
- 46:56to pay attention to everything because I didn't have the luxury
- 46:59I need to bust my butt everywhere I I go and I need to
- 47:03pay attention to every scenario I'm in.
- 47:05And I think they make the best coaches and managers.
- 47:08And Don Kelly obviously was one of those types of players, a
- 47:11journeyman that just kind of fought for time everywhere.
- 47:14Like, I mad respect on the call, mad respect on the decision.
- 47:19I'm not saying O'Neill Cruz is Yasiel Puig.
- 47:23I'm just telling you that there are times that I'm seeing the
- 47:27same type of waste of athleticism when this isn't
- 47:32clicked on. Couldn't agree anymore.
- 47:36I agree Speaking of being clicked on.
- 47:41Chase Burns was clicked on Good night Bro to start.
- 47:45To. Start his major live goodness.
- 47:47Tell me what you saw against the Yankees.
- 47:49Made his debut. Yes, Last night.
- 47:52Yesterday. Yeah, Against the Yankees.
- 47:55Tell me what you saw. I think he punched out the side.
- 47:58Twice I don't. It's seven punch outs, 3 first
- 48:04five batterings he faced via strikeout.
- 48:09He had seven punch. Outs through 4 innings.
- 48:11I'm going to see his final line because he did have a little bit
- 48:14of a blip, but nothing. Too crazy. 5 innings, six hits,
- 48:20three earned runs, eight KS. Trust me, it was a lot better
- 48:23than that. Bro just showed up and.
- 48:28Was like, I'm me, I'm, I'm, I'm full on.
- 48:31Here's my fastball, here's my slider.
- 48:34Good luck. No Fear against anybody attacked
- 48:38everybody including judge like fastballs in had command
- 48:42sliders, glove side had command like real deal real deal to the
- 48:48point where I was like why didn't this guy break camp with
- 48:51them because. All the tools are there.
- 48:55Absolute freak they were talking about on the broadcast.
- 48:58I think he had a really good spring training.
- 49:03And I think Tito. Like went to the front office
- 49:06and was like, yeah, like we're good to go on this.
- 49:08And the front office is like, no, not yet.
- 49:10And then I think he did, I don't know, maybe 10 or 11 starts down
- 49:14in the minor leagues and obviously got called up now.
- 49:17But I I know it's just one start and I know it's a a brutal team
- 49:26to watch in the Yankees right now.
- 49:27But like, super impressive stuff.
- 49:30And Hunter Green and Chase Burns 1-2 punch has a nice little ring
- 49:37to it. You know, whenever we get
- 49:40Hunter. Green back with Ellie on the
- 49:42other side of the ball. Like I saw an interesting note
- 49:50that I I thought would be worth sharing.
- 49:52He's the fifth first round selection from last year's draft
- 49:55to meet to reach the majors this year, joining the A's first
- 49:58baseman Nick Kurtz, Royals outfitter Jack Caglione, Angel
- 50:03second baseman Christian Moore, who I'll make note of a little
- 50:05later, Astros outfitter Cam Smith.
- 50:10And yeah. And then and then burns.
- 50:13So quite a. Quite a nice little little.
- 50:17Class there, yeah. Another, another absolutely
- 50:21jacked dad, By the way, that guy's built like a brick house
- 50:26in the stands. I don't know if you saw him I, I
- 50:28did, but I, I think he was playing I.
- 50:29Don't. Know what it is with these young
- 50:32rooks getting debuts and you see their dad and they're just
- 50:34massive human beings, but kid look good, man.
- 50:38Kid look real good and was like amped how little.
- 50:42Swagger to him. From what I.
- 50:45From what I saw, it was like an amped but a dialed in amped like
- 50:50he he was channeling it very well, which is, I have to
- 50:53imagine, very hard to do when you're making your debut like
- 50:56that. But that that has to speak to
- 50:59some level of maturity that exists, like mental maturity.
- 51:03You know, the your make up as a ball player to be able to do
- 51:05that. That's that's impressive.
- 51:06So good on him. I mean I.
- 51:09I, I'm assuming he got a ball from last night at some point,
- 51:14but like imagine having that ball of like 123.
- 51:17I'm going to punch out the side my first inning in one of those
- 51:203 is Aaron Judge. Like that's got to feel real
- 51:23good as a debut and then they. I think they ended up.
- 51:26Walking off the Yankees last night, too, so that kind of put
- 51:28a cap on on the game for him. They sure.
- 51:31Did kind of, I mean. You know, he doesn't get the win
- 51:34in that situation, but kind of nice to be able to walk away.
- 51:38I'm telling that line. Doesn't tell the story that that
- 51:42line does not talk about how good he actually was.
- 51:46No, but. All in all, good day.
- 51:48I wanted to break up a little bit of you know, we we got some
- 51:51more pirates talk here. Well, little less pirates and a
- 51:54little more Brewers. But I I didn't want to
- 51:57transition right into this after the O'Neill Cruz thing.
- 51:59But the match up today between Paul Skeens and Jacob Mesirowski
- 52:05when I tell you excellent, excellent.
- 52:08On that last name, by the way, thank you.
- 52:11Well, I. Heard it like 1000 times on the
- 52:13broadcast today. So when I tell you.
- 52:18The shock that I. Experienced when I open up
- 52:21MLB.com today and. I see a.
- 52:25Promo graphic. Featuring Paul.
- 52:29Skeens and Jacob Mesorowski. I'm like this kids, the real.
- 52:37Deal if he's getting if he's getting like front like front
- 52:41page treatment already. And I look, I know he's had an
- 52:45impressive start, but I'm like maybe maybe I'm on a a little
- 52:50unaware of just how good this kid is going to be.
- 52:53You weren't familiar quite yet. I'm sorry, Jacob.
- 52:56Mesrowski wasn't familiar with your game.
- 52:58Dude goes out today. Toes.
- 53:00The same rubber that Paul Skeen's toes goes.
- 53:04Out throws. 5 innings of two hit ball, no runs, eight KS.
- 53:10His ERA is 113. Is that accurate 113?
- 53:19That's what I'm seeing. He's allowed.
- 53:21I mean he. Got the win today, correct.
- 53:23They they ended up closing that game out, yeah.
- 53:26I think he got credit. With the win if, if, if true, is
- 53:30credited with the win. OK, he's allowed as many hits as
- 53:37he has wins. Through three starts, he's 3 and
- 53:41O. And is allowed three.
- 53:45Hits over 16 innings? That's crazy.
- 53:50And not to mention the fact that he threw.
- 53:55Was it 19? 19.
- 54:01Pitches today at 100 mile an hour plus to skeins is 1, which
- 54:07I'm like, I'm not. This isn't like a tearing down
- 54:10skeins. No, I feel you.
- 54:13Campaign but. Like of the of the. 74 pitches.
- 54:19He threw 50 strikes. Good night.
- 54:24Bro, this kid's real. What did you see in the in Like
- 54:28I I to be honest with you, I haven't caught too much of of
- 54:31his starts outside of just like highlights.
- 54:33Dude, he has what did what are. You seeing he's got so much
- 54:36length, he's I need to get what's what, what what's the
- 54:41listing on on this build? What Like what's the official
- 54:45listing? Here I'm seeing 6/7. 97 I mean
- 54:52cheeseburger dude to Jacob the length.
- 54:55Man, like he's on top of these guys post, post stride.
- 55:01It's it's crazy. Hold on in the chat.
- 55:07Daddy is a baddie. Are we talking Jacob Mesorowski
- 55:10here? I hope so.
- 55:15No, I'm. I'm.
- 55:16I'm with you, Jacob Mesorowski. That that dude.
- 55:19Yeah, the movement, the length, it's he's got the makeups there.
- 55:23All the ingredients are there for this kid to be something
- 55:26very, very special. And he's showing you right away.
- 55:28I love when you get a guy like this who comes up right away and
- 55:32shows you what he's capable of doing.
- 55:35And leaves a little room. For the imagination of like,
- 55:38maybe it gets better than this. I mean are are the Brewers?
- 55:42Just a pitching factory, it's what they do.
- 55:46It's what they do. Man.
- 55:50And then on the on the other side.
- 55:51Of the ball you got skins getting roughed up I think did
- 55:54I? I think he.
- 55:55Just had one rough inning, didn't he?
- 55:57Yeah, it wasn't pretty. 4 earned runs, which I believe, I know
- 56:02it's the first time this year, but I, I think in his career,
- 56:04first time he's given up 4 earned runs.
- 56:07Is that right? That can't be right.
- 56:08Is that right, Stud? Definitely this year also.
- 56:13Through 50. Strikes in 78 pitches, by the
- 56:16way. Guy pounds his own.
- 56:19Even after that. ERA is at a 212.
- 56:23Yeah, guy sucks. Yeah, OK.
- 56:30Please tell me you're familiar with the Colin Coward meme where
- 56:34he's like, hey, LeBron, we've got, we've got, what's his name,
- 56:40Ben Simmons. Yeah, he's like.
- 56:42We're good. Here you can go.
- 56:44And that like the worst age take of all time.
- 56:47I saw a tweet the day where it was like, hey, Paul Skeens,
- 56:50we've got Jacob Mesorowski. We're good bro, you can go.
- 56:54I'm like, I hope. This doesn't evolve into some
- 56:57like anti skeens campaign like just like like Andy and Toy
- 57:01Story just throwing Woody to the ground solid.
- 57:05Reference because you got. Buzz.
- 57:06Like, I don't can we, can we have two Buzz Light years?
- 57:11Can we have Paul Skins and Jacob Mesorowski?
- 57:13We can. Like just one hat one.
- 57:15Doesn't have to be woody, yeah, but they can both be buzz, based
- 57:20on The Mesorowski. Build.
- 57:21I would say he's Woody. But it doesn't line up with
- 57:25your. Reference.
- 57:25So I'll retract my statement. It's I, I was.
- 57:29I was on top of it there. Sorry, you were you were rolling
- 57:31on. Something I was rolling, yeah.
- 57:33OK, Nate, no disrespect. No disrepect.
- 57:38Dude, you better buckle up. We're just now getting in the
- 57:40credit cannon. We've been rolling for like an
- 57:41hour. So buckle up, because you got a
- 57:45million of them. Yeah, I do.
- 57:49I. Do I mean, of all the episodes,
- 57:50to not have a million like this would have been a great one to
- 57:55not have a million. But here we are.
- 57:57I've got a million. So buckle up.
- 57:59Leading us off here. It's none other The man, the
- 58:03myth, the legend, the catcher for the Seattle Mariners, Cal
- 58:12Raleigh Cal Raleigh on Monday. I don't think he hit.
- 58:17He didn't didn't have one Tuesday and I haven't the the
- 58:22game probably isn't even started yet.
- 58:24If they if they're A10 O clock game.
- 58:27So Monday was the. Last Homer he had, which was his
- 58:3032nd and it was on June 23rd. It has started they're.
- 58:35In the 5th. Oh, OK.
- 58:37Haven't heard anything yet on on any Homer 00 ball game so OK.
- 58:41Yep, I don't think. If that's the case, I don't
- 58:44think he's hit a home run. His career high in homers I
- 58:50believe was the last year was at 34.
- 58:52Can you can you confirm? Mariner, Mariner, Yeah, keep
- 58:58going. He's 2 away.
- 59:00From tying his career high. It's June.
- 59:05June. Career high 34.
- 59:08Last year. Last year, 30 the year.
- 59:10Before that 20. 7th the year before that.
- 59:13Can we go ahead and just say he's the best catcher in
- 59:15baseball now? Yeah.
- 59:17Sorry, real MiTo, he is the BCIB now.
- 59:23But what Everybody's. Talking about is how he's, you
- 59:27know, attempting to, to keep pace with.
- 59:30I mean, he's not pacing what Bonds did back in O1, but he's
- 59:36he's trying his darndest to reach the mark that Bonds set
- 59:40before the All Star break, which is 39.
- 59:43Raleigh's at 32. But we still got a little bit of
- 59:45time. But we got time.
- 59:46We got like 3 weeks. It's.
- 59:50Going to be here before you know it though.
- 59:51We're. Going to be in Atlanta.
- 59:53We're going to be Atlanta. I'm pumped.
- 59:55Oh boy, it's going to be good. But yeah, that I mean, look, got
- 1:00:00to got to show some love to Cal. We I mean, we haven't we
- 1:00:02haven't, no doubt, but just the fact that we're we're
- 1:00:05approaching the All Star break and he's he's even in this
- 1:00:08conversation is impressive. What is the?
- 1:00:11It's the Johnny Bench record I believe that we're coming up on
- 1:00:15for. What?
- 1:00:20What was the? Johnny Bench record.
- 1:00:22It was like most home runs. Let me do a little search here.
- 1:00:34Johnny Bench, he just passed Johnny Bench for the most home
- 1:00:37runs by catcher before the Ulster break.
- 1:00:40But this was that was 29. This was.
- 1:00:41This was back like June. Yeah, this was like.
- 1:00:44Almost. A week ago.
- 1:00:45So he's he's cruising, he's going to blow.
- 1:00:49Well, he already has blown past it, but he's going to that that
- 1:00:52we're on bonds watch now. We've moved on.
- 1:00:54Yeah, that mark for. A catcher is going to be
- 1:00:56otherworldly. So good for Cal.
- 1:00:58What a complete freak man. Just.
- 1:00:59Stay healthy, stay healthy, just stay healthy.
- 1:01:04Next up. Ronald Acuna.
- 1:01:07Junior. Over the last. 15 days coming
- 1:01:12into Wednesday, he's hitting 489.
- 1:01:17Well, 4 homers. 8 ribbies and a 1426 OPS.
- 1:01:25According to Brandon. Gaudin on Twitter Ronald Cooney
- 1:01:28junior has reached base multiple times in 14 straight games, per
- 1:01:32Sport Radar. He's the 4th Braves player to
- 1:01:34ever do this and the first since Deion Sanders in 1994.
- 1:01:39By the way, did you see his Which you may have not because I
- 1:01:42know Dion was in a. Club like that bro.
- 1:01:44I don't know. Dion was like that though.
- 1:01:48Did you see quite? Honest, I'm surprised it didn't.
- 1:01:51Get a a bigger deal wasn't made about this.
- 1:01:53I mean, not, not I didn't need like overreaction, but I'm I
- 1:01:56did. I just didn't don't feel like I
- 1:01:57saw it anywhere. I just happened to see it
- 1:01:59because I had the game on. But the the did you see the
- 1:02:02grenade celebration chucks the grenade, you know, has like a
- 1:02:05little grenade silly that he does chucks it in the Mets
- 1:02:07dugout and hits him with one of these.
- 1:02:10I'm like, careful, dude. Like careful.
- 1:02:16In this political climate, you. Can't be throwing grenades in
- 1:02:20the dugouts for sure. There's a lot of there's a lot.
- 1:02:21Going on right now, a lot of going on in the world, Ronnie.
- 1:02:25I mean. Do you like bro just locked in
- 1:02:28on hitting that's he has no idea what's going on outside of
- 1:02:32outside of cages and on that dirt baby probably couldn't even
- 1:02:35spell. Iran doesn't really care.
- 1:02:37He don't care. He's also where's the next
- 1:02:40baseball that I can? Did I see he committed to the
- 1:02:42home? Run Derby today.
- 1:02:45Believe I. That's nice.
- 1:02:49He sure did I. Mean you had to, you just had to
- 1:02:51assume. Yeah, it's in Atlanta.
- 1:02:53Yeah, it's. Got to you, got to get your guy.
- 1:02:55But love, love that. Verbal confirmation.
- 1:02:58Yeah. Love it.
- 1:02:59Next up, CJ Abrams over the last 15 days, call it two weeks,
- 1:03:10hitting 377, three homers, 6 ribbies and a 1071 OPS.
- 1:03:14On the year it's got an on base of 360, slugging, 491 OPS, 851
- 1:03:21and an OPS plus A141. So having a.
- 1:03:25Nice little year. Don't try to trade him.
- 1:03:28Oh, you already traded him? I was going to say, don't try to
- 1:03:30flip me in in fantasy. I don't.
- 1:03:32I'm not interested. I regret it.
- 1:03:33I think I moved in a couple weeks ago, clearly before
- 1:03:37actually, it wasn't even doing that bad when I moved them.
- 1:03:41Stud, man, stud. I'm just, I'm, I'm in, I'm in on
- 1:03:46what the nationals are doing, what they got going.
- 1:03:49I like it. I like him and James Wood.
- 1:03:55I did see some nationals. Fans trying to talk some noise
- 1:03:58on the Padres for letting James Wood go.
- 1:04:01I think I saw he went deep in their recent series and I'm
- 1:04:04like. I.
- 1:04:08Think I'm still going to go ahead and say that I'd rather be
- 1:04:12in the position at the Padres in right now because.
- 1:04:18I don't what. It was.
- 1:04:21It was specifically. In reference to one of the
- 1:04:23tweets I'm referencing, it was talking about this.
- 1:04:25They were like, remember when Xander Bogart said that?
- 1:04:28Come on, man, we're just playing the nationals, like.
- 1:04:30And then he was like, yeah, by the way, here's a home run from
- 1:04:33James Wood. Thanks for him, by the way.
- 1:04:35And I'm like, I mean, I guess good dig.
- 1:04:37But I'm like, since that time, I think they had the opposite
- 1:04:41records. Like I think the Padres were
- 1:04:43like 100. And 80 and 100.
- 1:04:46And 40 or something and then the nationals were like 140 a
- 1:04:49hundred. I don't know.
- 1:04:50But I'm just like it is crazy that.
- 1:04:52The Nats got all three of those guys.
- 1:04:55I didn't realize that. Yeah.
- 1:04:57But The thing is. Mackenzie Gore and.
- 1:04:59James Wood But like, The thing is, is you.
- 1:05:02How much noise can you really talk on that?
- 1:05:04Because even with those guys, they lost what, like 10 out of
- 1:05:1112 or something insane And then they went on like I think it was
- 1:05:15like an 8 or 9 game losing streak.
- 1:05:16And this was with James Wood just going off, CJ Abrams going
- 1:05:20off. I know.
- 1:05:22I'm not in on this year, I'm just saying for the future, but
- 1:05:27running out of I'm I'm. My patience is wearing thin.
- 1:05:30I've been trying. You're too close to the
- 1:05:31situation. I've been trying to.
- 1:05:33Prop them up for too long. You're too close to the
- 1:05:35situation. Yeah, stop.
- 1:05:37Yeah. You don't need to prop them up
- 1:05:38anymore. I get that.
- 1:05:41Just let it be. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:42Yeah, just let it be. You're in the neighborhood,
- 1:05:44you're there. You're there for support.
- 1:05:47Speaking of which, all it's needed.
- 1:05:48Speaking of which, I'll be. At the finally, it's about time.
- 1:05:52You're going to a game? Relax bro, I'll.
- 1:05:54Be at the July 5th and 6th games in DC.
- 1:06:00Sox are coming to town. Fireworks.
- 1:06:02Nothing. Better than the.
- 1:06:03Sox rolling into town for the 4th of July series.
- 1:06:06This isn't the first time it's happened.
- 1:06:08I love it. What a red, white and blue on
- 1:06:12that field. Oh yeah, I would imagine.
- 1:06:14I would imagine fireworks but the all red, white and blue.
- 1:06:17Game one would say, I think. Between those squads.
- 1:06:22Really. Just America's game, you know,
- 1:06:25that's what some are saying. That's what I'm saying.
- 1:06:29Yandi Diaz. Muscles.
- 1:06:34Over the last yoke Diaz Yandi Yoked Diaz over the last two
- 1:06:40weeks hitting 462 with three jacks, 8 ribbies and a 12/31 OPS
- 1:06:46entering Wednesday riding a 14 game hitting streak.
- 1:06:51And according to. Just Baseball on Twitter Yanni
- 1:06:54Diaz in the past month slashing 380-430-2610 with a 195 weighted
- 1:07:00runs created, plus 12 extra base hits and 15 ribbies.
- 1:07:04One of. Those the like.
- 1:07:05The opposite end of the spectrum of what we were saying earlier
- 1:07:08about some of these teams that are underperforming, that
- 1:07:11everyone expected to be a playoff team that has pieces
- 1:07:14that are going to move. I think everyone looked at the
- 1:07:16Rays this year and we're like Yandi Diaz, like big trade
- 1:07:19candidate, their game back in the division, They're very much
- 1:07:23in the hunt. I really highly doubt he gets
- 1:07:25moved. And he's a good.
- 1:07:28He's a. Key piece right now dude.
- 1:07:30Guys banging. Crazy big biceps.
- 1:07:34By the way, the biggest thing in the game, I mean, I feel like
- 1:07:37him, him and Adolis could probably arm wrestle.
- 1:07:42Why are we so? Fixated on Yanni Diaz's biceps.
- 1:07:46Just saying. You don't need to make it weird.
- 1:07:51Guy, I I mean you went. Back to that.
- 1:07:54Well, more than once I was just, I was curious.
- 1:07:57Team I. Like, I was curious.
- 1:07:58I like build him up. I like build him up.
- 1:08:01Well, it seems like he's already built.
- 1:08:02Up. Yeah, I've been talking about it
- 1:08:04all the time. No, I'm just uncalled for I
- 1:08:06think. He's you're the one that said
- 1:08:08something about going. Something on your sack?
- 1:08:12Sack is sack town. A's, yeah, you don't need.
- 1:08:15To make it weird. Guy, yeah, I don't need to make.
- 1:08:18It weird. All right, you're on one
- 1:08:20tonight. Speaking of.
- 1:08:22Weird guy that runs guy that runs like a duck.
- 1:08:30Christian Yelich. Over the last week, how to back
- 1:08:33to shoots? Guy no this.
- 1:08:36This is just like how he runs because of his back.
- 1:08:40No, it's not it. Don't try to make me feel bad.
- 1:08:44No I agree. Brutal.
- 1:08:45Home run trot. Yeah, that, you know, you know I
- 1:08:48don't like it. Yeah.
- 1:08:49I can't stand back. Home run trot.
- 1:08:51That's what I'm. I'm not saying like.
- 1:08:52Running generally, I was, I was specifically referencing this
- 1:08:54home run trot cause we've talked about it on here before.
- 1:08:56It's it's bad. That's a tough watch.
- 1:08:59But not this past week, my friend.
- 1:09:01He's hitting 520. Hello, 13 hits in a week.
- 1:09:08It's a good week. That's a good week.
- 1:09:11Also has a home run during that span. 13 RB is and an OPS at
- 1:09:161331. Optus stats since.
- 1:09:20RB is became an official stat in 1920.
- 1:09:22The Brewers Christian Yelich is the only MLB player to drive in
- 1:09:25eight plus runs in a game without hitting a home run.
- 1:09:28He did that this past week. Eight runs.
- 1:09:33Heck of a game for Yelli. Good stuff on the.
- 1:09:37Season. On base of 344 slogan, 458 OPS,
- 1:09:418 O1 OPS plus 124. So a quality, quality campaign
- 1:09:45for for Yeley. Good stuff.
- 1:09:48Yeley, another Christian Christian Moore, not really like
- 1:09:57a span of of performance that we're addressing here, but
- 1:10:01purely his his performance last night against the Red Sox game
- 1:10:05time Homer a walk off Homer while the team was trailing.
- 1:10:12This is that's relevant to the to the nugget here.
- 1:10:15Optus stats game tying Homer walk off Homer with his team
- 1:10:18trailing drove in all of his team runs.
- 1:10:22No, that happened never. No other player in MLB history
- 1:10:25has done all that in the same game.
- 1:10:29Shame. On the Angels, by the way, for
- 1:10:30this weird little line that they drew in right center field that
- 1:10:33whatever is a home run or it's like barely over that line, it's
- 1:10:36because it robbed us of that moment.
- 1:10:39I doubt. If you didn't have your
- 1:10:41superstition question at the beginning, I was going to bring
- 1:10:44that up. I was going to bring up the fact
- 1:10:45that I hate these stadiums that have like a yellow line for make
- 1:10:51a wall. Make a normal wall.
- 1:10:52Yeah, get rid of that wall. Or make above that wall a home
- 1:10:55run. It's that simple.
- 1:10:58That simple. Wait, what do you mean that's?
- 1:11:01What it is? What?
- 1:11:07It was a home run. Yeah, it is a.
- 1:11:10Home run that's. That's what I'm saying.
- 1:11:12If you have a wall, make a home run above that wall, not halfway
- 1:11:16up there. Oh.
- 1:11:17Oh, you're saying? Like even above I got the walls
- 1:11:20there that needs. To be the home run.
- 1:11:23I got you, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:11:23No, for sure, for sure like this whole or at the very least just
- 1:11:28like bring in the bottom wall and have like a little bit of a
- 1:11:31gap so the ball gets all in or just.
- 1:11:33Something so we're not like watching.
- 1:11:34This guy dive head 1st and the 3rd giving you the old tongue
- 1:11:37action Yeah crazy I was. I was hyped on that.
- 1:11:42Did you see the the? Umph though, he came up, got
- 1:11:44like right in his face and he was like brother.
- 1:11:48He's like, oh, OK, yeah, yeah, we're.
- 1:11:49Good. Yeah, so good on that.
- 1:11:53Buckle up, buddy. I got some.
- 1:11:54I got some arms here. There we go.
- 1:11:57There's a lot of pitching nerds that listen to us, by the way.
- 1:12:01So this is good because you and I are not pitching nerds, but we
- 1:12:05need to we need to give pitchers their love.
- 1:12:07We've talked a lot of. Good pitching this episode.
- 1:12:11Good for us, a lot of quality arms, good for US1.
- 1:12:14Of those arms being. Your boy, Clark Schmidt.
- 1:12:21In his. In his. 5 starts since May 28th.
- 1:12:24He's three and one with an ERA of 0.84 and 27 strikeouts.
- 1:12:29He has gone 6 + 4 out of his last five starts, which to me
- 1:12:34like whatever, but I know that that's like a big deal.
- 1:12:36Now, I would I would be more impressed if it said seven, but
- 1:12:39you know, whatever, I'll take six. 6 + 4 of his last five
- 1:12:43starts has given up only three earned runs across those 5
- 1:12:47starts, all three of which came against Cleveland in the same
- 1:12:50game June 4th. Yeah, so.
- 1:12:52Good on Clark Schmidt. He's been good man and.
- 1:12:55I think if you were to look up like the game logs of last year,
- 1:12:58I'm pretty sure he only went further than six, like two or
- 1:13:01three times the whole year. So this is always kind of been
- 1:13:04his thing. That's like holding him back.
- 1:13:06And if you enjoy like true pitching, he's a fun watch
- 1:13:09because he's not going to light up the the radar gun, a lot of
- 1:13:13cutters, a lot of sliders and it's just it's it's good
- 1:13:17refreshing pitching to watch. It's been good lot of lot of
- 1:13:22scoreless innings. Hope he keeps it rolling.
- 1:13:25He's. Been good.
- 1:13:26Nate, I'll give you that. He's been good, but not as good
- 1:13:30as. Just take a guess.
- 1:13:35Take a. Guess at home I'm going with
- 1:13:36here. Hence I think that that was
- 1:13:45hint. Enough.
- 1:13:47He's been good. But he hasn't been as good as.
- 1:13:56I don't know your boy, Clark. Schmidt has been good, but he
- 1:14:01hasn't been as good as. Who are you talking to?
- 1:14:09Who are you talking to? Look at who you're talking to.
- 1:14:14Where do you think I'm going with this?
- 1:14:16Probably crochet. Garrett Crochet. 5.
- 1:14:21And two with an. ERA of 212 and 91 strikeouts and
- 1:14:2611 starts since April 29th. In his seventeen starts.
- 1:14:33This season has only allowed more than two earned runs and a
- 1:14:36start twice. I tell you what, man.
- 1:14:41I2 things I think Aaron Boone's going to have a very difficult
- 1:14:44time trying to figure out who's going to start this all All Star
- 1:14:47game between crochet scubal and freed, and I think this is going
- 1:14:52to be one of the tighter Cy Young races we've seen in a
- 1:14:56while. If these three guys stay healthy
- 1:14:58and keep doing what they're doing, they're all elite.
- 1:15:02And I'm sorry if I'm forgetting anybody else and they all but
- 1:15:06like that's. Some good company bro these.
- 1:15:09Guys are doing it this year. According to Sarah Lang.
- 1:15:15'S A110110 plus strikeouts and fewer than 30 runs allowed in
- 1:15:21the 1st 17 starts of the season in Red Sox history. 22.
- 1:15:28What DS I I didn't? Even say the.
- 1:15:32Punchline that stopped listening.
- 1:15:35OK. 110 strikeouts and fewer than 30 runs allowed in the 1st
- 1:15:3917 start to the season in Red Sox history. 2000 Pedro
- 1:15:43Martinez, 177 strikeouts and 22 runs allowed and 2025 Garrett
- 1:15:49Crochet 135 strikeouts, 28 runs allowed.
- 1:15:52Good on Croche, the guy that Nate could have traded for in
- 1:15:59fantasy. I gave him the chance, but he
- 1:16:01got cold feet. Ranger Suarez. 6:00 and 2:00
- 1:16:06with an. ERA of 117 and 53 strikeouts and
- 1:16:09nine starts since May 10th. It was for.
- 1:16:12Another guy that was got a credit candidate a few minutes
- 1:16:15ago, by the way, that's fine, but this guy is is.
- 1:16:18Put up far more points. Ranger Suarez game log since May
- 1:16:2410th. 7 innings, 0 earn. Runs 7 innings, 3 Earn Runs 6.2
- 1:16:30innings 0 point or zero earn Runs, six innings, zero runs,
- 1:16:34six innings, one earn. Runs 7 innings, 2 Earn runs 7
- 1:16:37innings, zero. Runs 7 innings, one earn.
- 1:16:39Runs 7 2/3 innings, one earn run.
- 1:16:44Cool cool cool cool guys give you 7.
- 1:16:47Innings one to two runs just about every time he goes out.
- 1:16:52It's kind of hard to. Fathom how the Phillies aren't
- 1:16:57like mentioned enough as being one of the best teams in
- 1:17:00baseball with this pitching staff.
- 1:17:03Their staff is insane. And if Aaron Nola was like,
- 1:17:08there's a. Fraction.
- 1:17:09Just a fraction of what? What that contract deserves,
- 1:17:14They'd be unstoppable. Yeah, real.
- 1:17:19Real quiet on real quiet in Queens.
- 1:17:23I'll say one in Nine in their last 10 have.
- 1:17:29What We're in the middle of credit.
- 1:17:32Cannon, just like let's quick ricochet to the Mets.
- 1:17:36Oh no, no, this isn't. Ricochet.
- 1:17:38This is like precision airstrike.
- 1:17:40Cool precision airstrike. Whoa bro, easy, easy.
- 1:17:46Shots fired. No, that's not a.
- 1:17:50Good one either. OK, let's oh boy, we're getting
- 1:17:58cancelled. Yikes.
- 1:18:02No, but the Mets suck really is the take away here.
- 1:18:06The Mets suck. 1:00 and 9:00 in the last 10.
- 1:18:08Just coughed up the East and I look, I know they'll probably
- 1:18:11get it back by the weekend. Who's really safe?
- 1:18:13But you know, a lot of a lot of noise coming out of Queens there
- 1:18:17for some time. And now it's nothing but
- 1:18:19crickets. Anyway, who are we?
- 1:18:24Crediting Ranger Suarez? Yep, that's all I got on Ranger
- 1:18:27Suarez. Oh, Ranger.
- 1:18:31Nate, it's. It's time for your thing, guy.
- 1:18:45Yeah, off the rails is right. I mean, I that's how.
- 1:18:49These things go oh. And by the way, I'll I'll try to
- 1:18:51mention at the end, but if in case I forget, the reason I'm OK
- 1:18:55going a little little longer on this one is because there'll be
- 1:18:58no episode Sunday because we'll be out of town.
- 1:19:00Whoops, we. Don't drag me into this.
- 1:19:03Not you, guy. We, as in my wife, I'm here.
- 1:19:09You want to go? You want to run the.
- 1:19:10Pops here. I'd love to see that my wife's.
- 1:19:13Birthday. I can't, sorry.
- 1:19:14We're going to Niagara Falls. Not Nate and I.
- 1:19:17My wife and I are going to Niagara Falls.
- 1:19:19Be romantic though. Weird Canada side, by the way.
- 1:19:25Is that what you said? Yeah.
- 1:19:27The options the the lodging options options were just far
- 1:19:31better on the other side. Do you have a passport?
- 1:19:34Yeah, I got a passport. We went to Panama.
- 1:19:36For our that's right, that's right, good.
- 1:19:37Call. Good call.
- 1:19:39Yeah. So anyway, that's why I'm OK
- 1:19:41with this being a little longer, give you a little little bonus,
- 1:19:43little bonus material here, I guess.
- 1:19:46Yeah, but speaking. Of bonus material.
- 1:19:48Got a little something new. Really wanting to lean into the
- 1:19:53the the no disrespect bit. We we high, we hold the high
- 1:19:57regard. Yes, we hold the.
- 1:20:00The no disrespect bit, it's not really a bit.
- 1:20:02It's a real thing. We hold it with high regard.
- 1:20:07In high regard. With high regard.
- 1:20:10With high regard, yes, in. And so in.
- 1:20:15No, with high regard. So we wanted to lean into a
- 1:20:17little bore a little bit more take take headed of what I'm
- 1:20:23saying right here. No wanted to lean one wanted to
- 1:20:28lean into it a little bit and and dedicate of the a a small
- 1:20:33segment stop wanted to dedicate a small.
- 1:20:40Sorry, I just saw that, Jordan. Walker has appendicitis.
- 1:20:44Been there, done that. He'll be.
- 1:20:45Fine, Yikes. That's not.
- 1:20:47Fun. I can't imagine, No.
- 1:20:49But we wanted to dedicate a little little segment to it.
- 1:20:52Officially not. To the appendicitis?
- 1:20:56Obviously not. We want to dedicate it to the no
- 1:20:59disrespect. So, Nate, why don't you go
- 1:21:02first? That's perfect.
- 1:21:04Because I'm going to bring up a sucker for the Mets who, Well,
- 1:21:08hold on, hold on, I. Didn't that's my that's on me.
- 1:21:11That's on me. I didn't even I didn't even
- 1:21:12really, I explained what it is like what, what is it here that
- 1:21:15we're doing? Pointing out somebody who
- 1:21:17sucked, No disrespect, no disrespect there.
- 1:21:20You've but you've been sucking now.
- 1:21:23Now you're if you're listening or watching, you're, you're up
- 1:21:25to speed now. So this is what we're doing.
- 1:21:26Simple, easy. Explanation.
- 1:21:28Good description. Francisco Alvarez.
- 1:21:47It wasn't. It wasn't.
- 1:21:50I forgot you were going to. Do that.
- 1:21:51And I had like a face for it. Like like it came from me.
- 1:21:57It. Wasn't.
- 1:22:00Has it been that bad? For Francisco Alvarez, Yeah,
- 1:22:04bro. I mean, it makes sense.
- 1:22:09Look like I get it. You.
- 1:22:10Didn't get his spring in, he didn't start the season.
- 1:22:14But like, I don't know man. After reading this article it
- 1:22:18was like it's it's pretty rough. The headline says it's not
- 1:22:22statistical. Alvey's a Really.
- 1:22:26Talented player he got. That's tight, man, That's tight.
- 1:22:35That's a strange. One, you're really pushing to
- 1:22:37get that out. He got to the big leagues at
- 1:22:40such a young age, perform at such a high level immediately,
- 1:22:43that it's difficult to remember sometimes he's still young, says
- 1:22:46President Baseball OPS David Stearns.
- 1:22:50He's at an age good prospects, industry leading prospects are
- 1:22:54still in AA and he's been playing the big leagues for two
- 1:22:57plus years. Yeah, because you're the one
- 1:22:59that said to do that like I. I don't understand.
- 1:23:04We're always like, we're just Mets are always talking about
- 1:23:07who all of these guys are. They're just like, just just
- 1:23:10wait. Here comes Brett Beatty.
- 1:23:13Just wait. Here comes Francisco Alvarez,
- 1:23:16Mark Vientos. Like no disrespect.
- 1:23:18No disrespect. No disrespect.
- 1:23:20But like, it's just not good. It's not good enough.
- 1:23:25Slashing 230. 6/3/19 for a 333 OPSOP.
- 1:23:32S No, just kidding on base. Audit does doesn't say OPS in
- 1:23:37here. Let me pull up.
- 1:23:38I'll pull up the base with the baseball reference the OPS is
- 1:23:41currently at. It's like a six 52652 sounds
- 1:23:45like a normal. Somewhat of a normal 333 slug.
- 1:23:48319 on base, still booty cheeks, man.
- 1:23:51And it's just like, I don't, I don't, I don't get it.
- 1:23:55I don't get it. Like if you're, if you're going
- 1:23:57to say that this is the guy moving forward, like why force
- 1:24:01him up too quickly? This is what you do.
- 1:24:04You ruin players by doing. Just let them develop.
- 1:24:08So much success. Early, by the way, like I I
- 1:24:12think he's been OK. I think he's.
- 1:24:15Been all right. He had a one O 2 OPS plus last
- 1:24:18year of 96 OPS plus the year before 2022.
- 1:24:24Like he's been in the league a minute now.
- 1:24:27He's had how many played appearances under his belt. 900.
- 1:24:34Nearly played appearances like I.
- 1:24:37Not saying he can't recover I'm just saying no disrespect you
- 1:24:42suck right now. I wish you could change.
- 1:24:46Well, maybe you can. I should have changed the title
- 1:24:49of the live stream because I would.
- 1:24:51I this just dawned on me. I I realized that if somebody's
- 1:24:55hopping on, like if they just finish up their work day or
- 1:24:57whatever and that's all they heard.
- 1:25:00No, if they finish up their. Work day they they hop on social
- 1:25:03and they see our live stream and it says the title is like fan
- 1:25:07banned for mocking Katel Marte like here's our reaction and
- 1:25:10then the first thing they hit when they jump on the the stream
- 1:25:13is. It's just got to be able to
- 1:25:19separate. The two, you know, like it's 22.
- 1:25:22We're like, we talked Katel Marte.
- 1:25:24Like, literally. Bringing it back up hour and a
- 1:25:27half ago, I why? No, I just wanted to, you know,
- 1:25:30acknowledge it. Anyway, Speaking of no
- 1:25:35disrespect, this is borderline intended disrespect because of
- 1:25:40how bad it's been, but it's still in my good graces.
- 1:25:45But no disrespect, Zach Gallon, Zach Gallon's last nine starts
- 1:25:56according to Just Baseball on Twitter. 51 and 2/3 a seven O 3
- 1:26:02ERA. Y'all were complaining about
- 1:26:04Jordan Montgomery, a whip of 1.6 and 39 strikeouts to 21 walks.
- 1:26:16He has the worst F4 at -.4 and second worst ERA 5.68 among all
- 1:26:24qualified starters this season. On the year, he's.
- 1:26:28Accumulated. Well, Baseball Reference.
- 1:26:32Has him at 0 war flat. He's 5:00 and 8:00 as I
- 1:26:35mentioned. 5-6 ER. 5-6 OERA. And has a whip of 13. 96 Yorks.
- 1:26:47No disrespect. No disrespect.
- 1:26:53Tough brother in a walk here. Makes it even.
- 1:26:58Worse. Yeah, that's.
- 1:27:01You are flushing money down the toilet.
- 1:27:06Hate to see it. No disrespect though.
- 1:27:15Closing the book, you brought this to my attention.
- 1:27:18Chase Fields has sounds as though they've moved, they've
- 1:27:23taken a step in funding the repairs.
- 1:27:26So yeah, likely locking them in for.
- 1:27:32A number of years. Moving forward, I would imagine,
- 1:27:35I think it. Said pull it back up.
- 1:27:37Pull it back up. Oh no, did I lose it?
- 1:27:412056. Yeah, 2056.
- 1:27:44Yeah, that's crazy. Like who's who's?
- 1:27:47Realistically, who's looking that far down the road like they
- 1:27:50could change their mind in in five years?
- 1:27:56Come on. Yeah.
- 1:27:58I don't know. I.
- 1:27:59I'm not sure what that means, but I think that what this is
- 1:28:03going to include is I'm pretty sure it's going to start to
- 1:28:06include, you know, the surrounding buildings and kind
- 1:28:08of building some stuff and some entertainment around the stadium
- 1:28:13a little bit. I'll be, I'll be honest, you've
- 1:28:17been here. Downtown Phoenix is pretty much
- 1:28:19a dump. So like I, I'm happy to see that
- 1:28:22there's no disrespect, no disrespect.
- 1:28:25I'm happy to see there's going to be some stuff added to help
- 1:28:28that out a little bit. Because look like when we're in
- 1:28:32the thick of it in July and August and it's 115 outside,
- 1:28:36like there's really not a ton of options outside or inside to do.
- 1:28:41Like there's not a whole lot of entertainment to find.
- 1:28:43You can only go to the aquarium so much out here.
- 1:28:46So like we need something to do inside.
- 1:28:49And if you can provide some entertainment around to be able
- 1:28:54to get over there, that's that's a good call.
- 1:28:57Was who open tonight? I don't know, Debbie in.
- 1:29:00The chat just asked if they were open tonight.
- 1:29:05And this this was. Before we started talking about
- 1:29:07Chase Field. So in my head, I'm thinking
- 1:29:08like, she's talking the roof, Yeah.
- 1:29:12Maybe I don't know that is weird though.
- 1:29:14They do open the roof at weird times where like now that the
- 1:29:17roof is fixed which that's another thing.
- 1:29:20A lot of this money needs to be put towards the roof.
- 1:29:21But I'm just glad they're not moving man.
- 1:29:24I think there was rumors of like Utah trying to steal them the
- 1:29:26way they stole the Coyotes. Like, I'm glad that's not
- 1:29:30happening. I'm glad they're sticking it out
- 1:29:33real quick on that, real quick on the hockey.
- 1:29:35Did I? I think I saw something today
- 1:29:38and I don't know because I didn't follow up with this was
- 1:29:41their first season, right? The Utah, the, the, the team,
- 1:29:44the hockey team. I don't think so.
- 1:29:47I think it's next year, just give me the first one.
- 1:29:49I thought I read something today.
- 1:29:51That said, they like sold out every game or something.
- 1:29:53Did they? Did they not play this year?
- 1:29:55I I don't know. I don't.
- 1:29:57Full of transparency. I don't pay attention to hockey
- 1:30:00at all. Yeah, they would They.
- 1:30:02Played this year. Yeah, I think I saw somebody
- 1:30:06said they. Sold out every game.
- 1:30:07So, you know, encourage. Were they still the Coyotes?
- 1:30:09They just didn't like rebrand yet because I thought I just saw
- 1:30:12like the Mammoth and that's what they're going to be just now.
- 1:30:16Yeah, OK, They're the Utah Hockey Club, but they're.
- 1:30:19They're going to be the they, they were the coyotes.
- 1:30:21This year. But they were playing in Utah,
- 1:30:24no? They're the Utah.
- 1:30:26No, they were the Utah Hockey Club.
- 1:30:29And now they're going to be the. The the What is this theme?
- 1:30:34What is this theme about the blank blank club that we can't
- 1:30:37get past in sports? Any who's man, I'm trying to get
- 1:30:40my thought out. What I thought was cool when I
- 1:30:43was reading the the article about where the money is going
- 1:30:47to come from because everyone talks about like taxpayer money
- 1:30:50and stuff is that it's apparently like the all of the
- 1:30:54taxes that are coming from their merchandise that they're selling
- 1:30:57at the stadium. Like basically taxes that are,
- 1:31:00yes, we're spending as taxpayers, but when we go to the
- 1:31:02game, buy hot dog and pay 8.5% tax, whatever it is like that
- 1:31:08amount of money is going to be going towards this.
- 1:31:12Money and then I think. They're also taking some income
- 1:31:15tax from certain employees is what the article said.
- 1:31:19Whatever. It's interesting, but good to
- 1:31:21see they're sticking around and I'm happy to see whatever
- 1:31:25renovations happen because it has the makings of a good
- 1:31:28ballpark. But it's 30 years old, which is
- 1:31:30crazy. Yeah, I saw.
- 1:31:32That it was like one of the oldest parks in baseball.
- 1:31:35I'm like stop that doesn't doesn't.
- 1:31:37Calculate No. That'll make no sense.
- 1:31:42Anyway. Yeah, you know what, I think
- 1:31:44we've taken our, our, our shots from time to time at at Chase.
- 1:31:47But you know, I would hate to say I would hate to see Chase go
- 1:31:50like, you know, I'd hate to see them leave.
- 1:31:53And yeah, it's quirky. Yeah, I tell you what, it was
- 1:31:57nice having some some AC when it was.
- 1:32:02Butt hot when I was out. There for the WBC it was like.
- 1:32:06February. It was.
- 1:32:09March and it was still hot, dude.
- 1:32:13Bro, don't make me pull. The clip of you trying to walk
- 1:32:16up the hill at the Angel Spring training game.
- 1:32:20That was a fat thing. That wasn't a heat thing, it was
- 1:32:23both it. Was.
- 1:32:25Both. I think I just wolfed down a
- 1:32:29freaking Jersey Mike's sub and and Cookie whatever.
- 1:32:33Hey, last thing here, Speaking of trips, just want to make a
- 1:32:37little note here. I know you're just dying to get
- 1:32:40dinner. I want to freaking.
- 1:32:42No, I want to. I want to go to ATL baby.
- 1:32:44I'm ready the. Specifically, I just wanted.
- 1:32:48To make note of the Derby, I know we've been talking on here
- 1:32:52for a few weeks now, even few months that we're going to be
- 1:32:55heading down to the the All Star game and I'm going to keep
- 1:32:57talking about it because I want to I want to link up with some
- 1:33:00folks down there. But also I want the folks that
- 1:33:03aren't going to be able to make it down there.
- 1:33:05They're interested in tuning into what it is that we're going
- 1:33:07to be doing, which is going to be a lot what it is I'm.
- 1:33:10Mapping out the. Itinerary already like we're
- 1:33:13we're locking in. I wanted to make a note of the
- 1:33:16the Wiffle ball Derby because there's there's some the real
- 1:33:20Derby that's. What you mentioned, yeah, yeah.
- 1:33:21So the real. Derby, I just wanted to let you
- 1:33:25know that the progress is being made there and.
- 1:33:32There, there may even be. Some some fan involvement, some
- 1:33:35some viewer slash listener involvement as as we get closer.
- 1:33:38So just keep an ear out for that.
- 1:33:40Keep an eye out for that. I'm even, I'm mapping out, I'm
- 1:33:46mapping out fields. I was telling you, I'm mapping
- 1:33:48out fields in the area close to where we're staying that we can,
- 1:33:51that this can be done. So I want to do it right.
- 1:33:55And I want this to actually mean.
- 1:33:56Something like we're, we need to, we need to figure out wagers
- 1:34:00for this. I do agree.
- 1:34:01I do. Agree to build off of that I I
- 1:34:04think. When you were talking about
- 1:34:08finding. A a middle school field I it's
- 1:34:11probably a little too big to go ya ya out of in.
- 1:34:16In none of these scenarios are we hitting from home plate, even
- 1:34:20a Little League field. You're not hitting out either
- 1:34:22second base or from like the back of the cut out or or
- 1:34:25something. We just need a fence.
- 1:34:28Fair enough. Just wanted to lay that out
- 1:34:30there more than likely. It's going to be from like
- 1:34:33center field. We're old because we don't.
- 1:34:37Got it like that. Anymore.
- 1:34:38Yeah, we're old. We don't.
- 1:34:40I do. Think one of the rounds needs to
- 1:34:41be oppo Taco. You mean lefty?
- 1:34:44Yeah, Yeah, I agree. Well, we're, I'm working on the
- 1:34:49I'll I'll talk with you about it.
- 1:34:51I'm working on the structure of it, what I think will be most
- 1:34:54entertaining, most intriguing. We're going to.
- 1:34:56We're open for. Suggestion.
- 1:34:58We're going to. We're going to.
- 1:35:00Make this thing we're going to. Make this thing.
- 1:35:03Big. We're going to make it right and
- 1:35:05we're going to make it mean something.
- 1:35:07The wagers, OK, Wagers are coming.
- 1:35:12Yeah. TBD yeah TDB Visa V.
- 1:35:22Is that all I got? Is that all I?
- 1:35:23Got hope you folks enjoyed the bonus content again.
- 1:35:26We won't be doing a pod Sunday. I'll be out of town.
- 1:35:31Sky hates his home. Yeah, I don't really enjoy my
- 1:35:36mortgage. Very much I'll tell you about.
- 1:35:38I don't do a good job of that. Anyway, has rookie ever seen a
- 1:35:43waterfall? Will this be the first time?
- 1:35:46Are you taking him to Canada? Yeah, he sure has.
- 1:35:48Actually, it's nice. Are you?
- 1:35:51Taking him to Canada? Yep.
- 1:35:53You're driving? Yeah.
- 1:35:55Crazy. Let me know what.
- 1:35:57That's like it's only like 8 hours.
- 1:35:58It's not. I mean, Nashville is farther.
- 1:36:01When we go see family down there, it's further to get there
- 1:36:05than it is in Niagara Falls. I'm not going to sit here.
- 1:36:07And say that I love geography, but that does not compute to me.
- 1:36:13It does not compute to me that you that you can get to Canada
- 1:36:17quicker than you can get to Nashville in Northern Virginia.
- 1:36:21I don't like that. I don't like that where we're
- 1:36:23at. I don't, I don't know what to.
- 1:36:24Tell you I don't like it, I mean.
- 1:36:26Don't go like docs. In me, like, I mean, I think
- 1:36:28people know that I live in this area, but don't be like going
- 1:36:30out and giving screenshots of like Google Maps of where I'm
- 1:36:34living and how long it takes to get places.
- 1:36:39I don't need that. Why you don't?
- 1:36:40Want any swag? Sometimes people send you swag,
- 1:36:43yeah, but. Might be somebody that knocks on
- 1:36:46my. Door.
- 1:36:46Who knows? Yeah, my place is gated.
- 1:36:48So good luck, can't get in. Yeah, that's all I got.
- 1:36:55Cool. Good stuff, old chap.
- 1:36:58Way to keep it, Way to keep it real.
- 1:37:01Throw out a couple potential cancel comments.
- 1:37:06I'm out of stuff too. I'm going to.
- 1:37:07Go eat dinner. Don't go chasing curveballs.
- 1:37:10We love you all and as always, looking.
- 1:37:11Forward to talking more baseball with you guys soon.
- 1:37:13Until next time, stay filthy.
