Latest / Rachel Oates / Morgan Starts A New Podcast Just To Complain (Paul and Morgan)
Transcript
- 0:00Hey everyone, welcome back to my channel and welcome to my
- 0:02parents house. I'm staying here for a couple of
- 0:04weeks while I'm in the process of buying a house basically and
- 0:08going through all that crazy grown up stuff.
- 0:11So if you see me recording here for a little while I have to
- 0:15thank my parents. The only issue is they're a
- 0:18little bit on the older side and hard of hearing so they have the
- 0:21TV on very loud during the day so I'm always having to film at
- 0:23night. So it's currently 11:00 PM here,
- 0:28and let's just get into today's video.
- 0:30So Morgan of Paula Morgan is back with a new podcast called
- 0:34Unbuckled, in which Morgan and her friend sit in his car,
- 0:37screech for a little while and judge people.
- 0:39Today we're going to watch a couple of clips from the first
- 0:42of three episodes that they've currently released and just have
- 0:44a talk about it. Is this podcast the worst thing
- 0:46on the Internet right now? No, absolutely not.
- 0:49Is it horribly serious and terrible?
- 0:52And you know, they're awful people for doing this.
- 0:56No, absolutely not. Morgan has done a lot worse than
- 0:59make this podcast. However, it interests me.
- 1:02And I have things I want to say in response to a few of their
- 1:05claims and opinions and some of the misinformation that they put
- 1:09forward. And sometimes we just need to
- 1:12have a little giggle at something a bit ridiculous.
- 1:14So that's what we're going to do today.
- 1:16First of all, if you're unfamiliar with Paul and Morgan,
- 1:18may I direct you to my absolutely ridiculousness of the
- 1:20top 7 hour long video, The Saga of Paul and Morgan, which goes
- 1:25through the last nine years of their YouTube channel from its
- 1:28inception to today and all the eras of content they've gone
- 1:31through. For those of you though who have
- 1:34more important things to do with your life than I did when I was
- 1:36making that video, Paul and Morgan are to give you a very
- 1:39brief summary, A fundy couple who've been making content
- 1:42online like I said, for about the last nine years.
- 1:44And they are known for being quite offensive, not very well
- 1:47liked, not having a very happy marriage that they are more than
- 1:50happy to put on display online at all times.
- 1:53And just, that's a lot. Where do I even stop?
- 1:56There are some people, trolls who are always like Paul is
- 2:01always making Morgan talk about her past.
- 2:04It's disgusting. He should be ashamed.
- 2:06You're no better, Paul. That you were a virgin and she
- 2:09wasn't my holder. And this is.
- 2:29You need to treat your wife like she is a delicate vase.
- 2:34That is hard for me to do. Let's not beat her on the Bush.
- 2:38We voted for Trump. You don't fall asleep all.
- 2:45I wish we did. I'd like to go to bed snuggling.
- 2:47Hey, no, no, no, we're not putting this.
- 2:50In the we need to work on this. You just act like I never all
- 2:56marriages take hard stinking work.
- 2:59Just confusion to a new level. You can't be they then people.
- 3:03You can't. I'm sorry.
- 3:04Pick one or the other at least. Could we not have said that
- 3:08about slave owners? Could we not have said cut that
- 3:11out? This is about slave owners
- 3:13rights. Yeah.
- 3:14I don't like when they lump like anyone that's in opposition to
- 3:18their lifestyle as these hater jerks hated and love it.
- 3:22What are you going to do, haters?
- 3:27It's a great day. I'm pumped, I'm pumped.
- 3:31I feel terrible. Right now.
- 3:35I just don't really want to be processing this on camera, OK?
- 3:39Knowing that we have a million haters who are going to make
- 3:42stupid videos about this. Well, us and her marriage and
- 3:45Morgan's sitting here all. Blah blah blah.
- 3:48Well, yeah. Do you generally find them quite
- 3:51unlikable? However, I did find when I was
- 3:54making that massive long video and I watched, no joke, hundreds
- 3:58of hours of their content, too many, it sent me a little bit
- 4:01insane. But I found that the time when I
- 4:03found Morgan the most likeable was when she last went through
- 4:06her vlogging era and she was covering a lot of her fertility
- 4:10journey and her pregnancy journey.
- 4:11And like I say, it was one of the few times I found her quite
- 4:14likeable on camera. I found her not necessarily
- 4:17personally relatable, but I can see why other people would find
- 4:20her relatable. And I felt that she was actually
- 4:22at that time making good content that others would be helped by.
- 4:25I felt there was some value in it.
- 4:27I felt she was doing some really good things.
- 4:30However, I cannot say the same for this latest podcast.
- 4:34Unbuckled are videos hosted by Morgan and her friend Caroline,
- 4:37who goes by the nickname Carl. And I have to say there is a
- 4:41slight bit of like weird hypocrisy here because Paul and
- 4:44Morgan absolutely detest trans people and often in their
- 4:47videos, especially Morgan, she has refused to call trans people
- 4:51by their real names, often dead naming them, and she often
- 4:55refuses to use people's proper and correct pronouns.
- 4:58So for example, she will often refer to trans women as he and
- 5:00him. However, Paul and Morgan are
- 5:03more than happy to call their female friend Carl.
- 5:07They have given their sons the middle names Grace and Love,
- 5:11which are, you know, not exactly traditionally masculine names.
- 5:16Grace traditionally is quite a feminine name.
- 5:19So they're, they're happy to like bend these gender norms
- 5:23and, you know, go against what's expected and not be traditional
- 5:27in that sense. However, when other people do it
- 5:29because that's their identity and who they are, they're not
- 5:32willing to accept that and I find it a little hypocritical
- 5:35and it's something I've always kind of wondered and questioned
- 5:37about. I find it a little little
- 5:38interesting why they do that. But anyway, at present there are
- 5:42three episodes of Unbuckled Out with thumbnails looking like
- 5:46they time travelled from a decade ago.
- 5:48Episode 1, which we are going to be watching and responding to
- 5:50today, is Welcome to the Fan, which is, you know, nice and
- 5:53vague. You go girls tell us nothing.
- 5:56Episodes two and three I'm hoping to cover in future videos
- 5:58and episode 2 is high rise panty girls in a low rise jeans world
- 6:04because nothing says I'm a good modest Christian who judges
- 6:07other women and calls them slutty for what they wear.
- 6:09Like describing yourself as a panty girl and attempting to
- 6:14click bait your underwear to get views.
- 6:16Interesting choice there. And episode 3 is titled respect
- 6:19your eldest son, which shows us the importance of punctuation.
- 6:22Should it be the son respecting his elders?
- 6:25You know it's in respect your elders comma son.
- 6:28Or should we be respecting the son of our elder, which would be
- 6:32respect your elder apostrophe S son.
- 6:35But as it stands, respect your eldest son means nothing.
- 6:40Who knows what they meant? I mean, maybe it was when we
- 6:43watched the video, but I'm not ready for that yet.
- 6:45I need a break after doing this. OK, Am I being extra snarky
- 6:49today? Probably yes.
- 6:51Do I apologise for that? No, Morgan is known for reacting
- 6:57badly to criticisms of her and Paul.
- 6:59And I do get it. It is very, very difficult to
- 7:01hear criticisms about yourself online, especially on the scale
- 7:04that Paul and more can get them, because there's a lot from a lot
- 7:08of different people. They get criticisms from those
- 7:10atheists, they get criticisms from other Christians, they get
- 7:14it from all over the place. And, and part of me does have
- 7:18simply sympathy for them. And when I made that massive
- 7:21long video about them, I did find myself empathising a little
- 7:24bit more because, you know, I saw, I don't know, maybe just
- 7:28because I, I engrossed myself in so much of their life for so
- 7:31long when I was making that video.
- 7:32And but I do feel like at this point now I've had a bit of
- 7:35distance, I feel like I would have more sympathy for them if,
- 7:39one, the criticisms of them weren't because they'd spent so
- 7:43much of their time over the last decade being racist, homophobic,
- 7:46transphobic, and cruel to other people online.
- 7:49And two, if Morgan tried to actually respond to the
- 7:52criticisms with reasoned responses rather than just
- 7:55calling everyone names like dumbos and dummies as she often
- 7:58does and saying that her critics just live in their grandma's
- 8:01basement all the time. I know there's an irony of me
- 8:04signing my parents living room right now saying that, but here
- 8:08we are. In my defence, I just lost my
- 8:11daughter, my dog, and I'm going through a big transitional
- 8:16period of buying a house and all sorts.
- 8:19And then I'm very lucky to have like them here as a safety net
- 8:23right now. And well, I'm well, I'm sorting
- 8:26myself out, you know. Anyway, my point is, I would
- 8:29have more respect for Morgan if she was like, I've heard people
- 8:31say XY and Z about me and I disagree because of AB and C
- 8:35reasons. Or even if she was just like,
- 8:38I've heard this stuff, I'm not going to comment.
- 8:40It doesn't bother me. Whatever you think what you
- 8:42think instead of what she does. But she's just like, oh boy,
- 8:45these dumbos online is saying things about me again.
- 8:48It's like, you know, I digs you will live in your mom's basement
- 8:50and you're stupid and dumb. I can't do impressions.
- 8:53I'm tired and I'm too old for this.
- 8:56Listen, I'm freaking on my period and I've about had it
- 8:59with the big freaking idiots online.
- 9:02I'm sorry, I'm sorry. No, Lauren, calm me down.
- 9:09But no, literally, if you're getting your information from
- 9:17Reddit, maybe just shut it. Maybe just keep your mouth shut.
- 9:24You literally know nothing and you sound so stupid when you get
- 9:31online acting like you have all the information.
- 9:34You sound so stupid and you look stupid too.
- 9:41You guys only have the information that Paul and I put
- 9:45out online. We hardly ever speak about
- 9:48certain things and it's for a reason.
- 9:51You guys don't need all the details.
- 9:53You dumbos Redditors don't need all the details.
- 9:56But like, I don't know why I even bother sharing that
- 9:59information because it doesn't matter.
- 10:01I could tell you that Paul was actually a multi millionaire and
- 10:05you guys want to believe it because you guys just want to
- 10:08keep thinking that my husband's a loser and he doesn't provide
- 10:13for the family. Because you guys love you
- 10:15thrive. You thrive on people failing.
- 10:18You thrive on people not doing well in life.
- 10:20You thrive on and the idea that there's a woman out there
- 10:23suffering and an abusive marriage.
- 10:26You love that storyline. You just love it.
- 10:29And so anywho, just here to tell you, you guys are a bunch of
- 10:34idiots. And I don't feel sorry for
- 10:36saying that. I literally don't.
- 10:39So for the people who are going to message me and be like, this
- 10:41isn't very Christ like, no, no, there's no get on Reddit and see
- 10:48the things those people are saying.
- 10:51I actually don't save your brain cells.
- 10:53You know, like when you're drunk and you can't stop laughing at
- 10:56stupid stuff with your friends that wouldn't be funny in any
- 10:59other context. And you're like, Oh my God, this
- 11:01would this would actually make the best podcast ever.
- 11:03People would find us hilarious. And then you sober up in the
- 11:06morning and you're like, oh, no, I'm not actually that funny or
- 11:09charismatic and I don't actually have anything of value to say.
- 11:12Well, Morgan and Carl did that, except they weren't drunk to
- 11:15start with and they still haven't sobered up now.
- 11:18So here they are, monetizing their friendship as unbuckled
- 11:23the podcast. Let's take a look at episode
- 11:25one, just. Result just when you're ready.
- 11:29Can I get 2 medium sprites? Well that's our forever clip.
- 11:34Cheers. For some reason this is what
- 11:41they decide to open every episode with.
- 11:42I would say they have the sense of humour of Colleen Hoover,
- 11:45where they think clumsy equals quirky equals interesting, and
- 11:49the reality is that's just not a thing.
- 11:52A little marketing advice, which I should probably follow myself
- 11:54to be honest. Let's be real here and open your
- 11:57video with something that will grab your audience's attention
- 11:59for being interesting or eliciting an emotional response.
- 12:03Some people like to maybe put small highlight here as a here's
- 12:06what's coming up sort of thing. Or maybe you want to start with
- 12:09an intro that tells you something about yourselves and
- 12:11your personalities or what you hope to achieve with the
- 12:13podcast, Something like that, Something that really sets the
- 12:16tone. I don't think this intro does
- 12:18that. All I get from this is great.
- 12:20I'm going to be watching this low quality video where they
- 12:22just keep mistakes in and these people have no personality other
- 12:26than, you know, thinking altering lemonade is the
- 12:29highlight of their day. That's what I get from this
- 12:31intro. It doesn't make me want to watch
- 12:33more. Welcome to On a Buckled.
- 12:36A little on hand. And a lot honest.
- 12:45Oh man. I will just say as an autistic
- 12:47woman, the high pitched squealing in this video is a
- 12:50sensory nightmare for me. I often refer to it as like
- 12:53screeching and squealing, but however you describe it, it
- 12:56bothered me. It took me so long to just watch
- 12:59this video while I was researching and making my script
- 13:03for this because it was. It was just a lot.
- 13:05The squealing was too much. Kept time to take little breaks.
- 13:09As you can see, we're in a van. My mom van.
- 13:13My my van. Not my mom's fan.
- 13:17Yes, it is your. But yeah, this whole intro bit
- 13:22here is giving kind of like teenage girl who says things
- 13:24like I'm so random in her MSN bio and then you actually have a
- 13:27conversation with her and the whole thing is just like where
- 13:29you up to you and I'm a dinosaur lol.
- 13:35And that's like the only thing I ever say or have going for them.
- 13:38I honestly just feel too old to be watching this nonsense.
- 13:42Like who is this even for? Who is their target audience?
- 13:45Who is watching? Well, not many people are
- 13:47watching it, but who do they expect to watch this?
- 13:49Because adult women like myself won't relate to this because of
- 13:52how immature they are. But kids and teens won't relate
- 13:54to this because of their subject matter.
- 13:56They talk about their vaginas a lot and sex with their husbands
- 14:00and childbirth and being a mother.
- 14:02So they talk and act like teenagers and children.
- 14:06But the subject matter isn't for teenagers, teenagers and
- 14:08children. So there's a real mismatch in
- 14:11tones and content going on here. And like I say, I just, I don't
- 14:15know who would be watching this. Teen mums and child brides
- 14:19maybe. I mean, as target audiences go,
- 14:23maybe not an ideal one. Because once a month, me and
- 14:29Carl meet up. That's Carl.
- 14:33I'm Morgan. Yeah, we don't introduce
- 14:35ourselves. Should we introduce ourselves?
- 14:37I'm Morgan. And I'm Caroline.
- 14:39There we go. OK, Carl.
- 14:43Yes. Just another hint for Morgan
- 14:46here and for Carl, sometimes it can help to plan out what you're
- 14:49going to say in a video before you film it.
- 14:51For example, if you're making a podcast, you could do a brief
- 14:53outline of here's how we're going to introduce ourselves,
- 14:56here's how we're going to summarise the podcast, Here's
- 14:58our first topic, here's our second topic, here's what we're
- 15:01going to say in the outro, and so on.
- 15:03So for example, when I make a YouTube video, I write a script.
- 15:05I talk about all my points. I often write like I'm going to
- 15:08say this and this and this, I referenced the clips I'm going
- 15:10to be reacting to and so on. When you just go into something
- 15:13completely unplanned like this and you have no idea what's
- 15:15going on, unless you have a lot of practise and you kind of need
- 15:19that spontaneity for whatever reason, it can just come across
- 15:23as like really unprofessional, as it does in Morgan and Carl's
- 15:25video. A little planning would go a
- 15:27long way to making them not look so unorganised and
- 15:30unprofessional, and a little structure might make this more
- 15:33interesting as a podcast. So ladies, because I'm a
- 15:37assuming that's our audience, we decided when we meet up we just
- 15:43have some juicy girly combos and we're like so good, why not
- 15:49bring some other ladies into this?
- 15:52We're talking about how motherhood and wifehood have
- 15:57made us these really mature women.
- 16:00So mature. So mature it's crazy, but then
- 16:03we get together and we're just like 2 girls.
- 16:06Girly girl. Girls with all the girl talk.
- 16:09And it's a great time. Question all the mature ladies
- 16:13in the room with us now. Why have I never seen evidence
- 16:15of Morgan being mature ever? I know she's a mom, I know she's
- 16:19a wife, but that doesn't automatically equal maturity.
- 16:23I've never like yeah, she's posted some parenting videos and
- 16:27she seems vaguely capable. That's fine.
- 16:29But I've never seen any evidence of like, emotional maturity or
- 16:33like being able to handle things.
- 16:34Well, you know, I don't know. It's.
- 16:37Like every time we're talking, we're just like, wow.
- 16:39That we are so. Funny.
- 16:40Why did we not record that? Like, that was just so funny and
- 16:43so wise, you know? No, we're.
- 16:45Literally so smart. Honestly, I wrote that drunk
- 16:50podcast comment early before I'd watched this far into the video.
- 16:53But why was I hang on? OK, guys.
- 16:56Well, Carl, yeah, can I just say.
- 17:00Yes you can, please. Do say that this ambulance
- 17:05driving past us right now, God bless them.
- 17:08Be safe. I hope and pray truly that the
- 17:12person in there is safe. But can you turn the sirens off?
- 17:15No, really, sometimes I do feel like it's a bit unnecessary and
- 17:18I'm sure when we blow up and this podcast is super big, I'll
- 17:22get hate for that, but you know, we can calm it down a little
- 17:26bit. Oh, I'm.
- 17:26Sorry that a life threatening emergency interrupted your
- 17:29unplanned podcast in a car. What a tragedy.
- 17:33Honestly this could all have been edited out.
- 17:35It wasn't necessary, it just it's unnecessary.
- 17:38And again, it looks unprofessional.
- 17:39It looks unorganised. There's a degree where you want
- 17:42things in your videos to feel real and friendly and like
- 17:46you're just having a chat with a friend.
- 17:47Like I sometimes leave in rambles and go off on tangents
- 17:50because I'm like, it feels like a nice way to connect with the
- 17:52audience and it feels like something real that I'd say if I
- 17:55was like chatting with a friend in a coffee shop.
- 17:56It's not kind of the vibe I like in my videos, you know, I don't
- 17:59need things like like I'm not in a studio.
- 18:01I don't want to pretend I'm in a studio.
- 18:02I don't want to pretend that this is like a highly produced
- 18:05TV show or something like that. It's not.
- 18:08I'm literally just a woman in a house having a chat with someone
- 18:12and like, you know, you guys answer me back in the comments,
- 18:14you know, and I like that. I think you can get that level
- 18:17of like that kind of homemade quality without it being
- 18:22unprofessional. You know, there's, there's
- 18:24different degrees of stuff. I feel like there's certain
- 18:27things that just like don't need to stay in there.
- 18:29For example, siren sounds. You know, I used to live next to
- 18:33a busy main road in Leeds and we would have sirens of vehicles
- 18:37going past all the time, big heavy trucks that would rumble
- 18:40constantly. There was a work site down the
- 18:42road so you sometimes get big noises and that makes us going
- 18:45fast. We'd get an ambulances, police
- 18:48cars, fire engines all hours of the day.
- 18:50And when that happened and I was filming, I just take a pause or
- 18:53let them go past and then continue because that's what you
- 18:56do. You guys don't need to hear
- 18:58that. That doesn't really add to
- 18:59anything. But I have to say this whole
- 19:01thing of like, leaving the siren in there, complaining about it,
- 19:04complaining about ambulances, like existing.
- 19:07And then they go off on this whole tangent about how like
- 19:10they have conspiracy theories about ambulances and how they're
- 19:12not really doing it. Like if I didn't know Morgan
- 19:15before, this would really make me dislike her so.
- 19:18Editing me just jumping in here quickly because I do feel like
- 19:20that's kind of too harsh at this point a little bit, or maybe I
- 19:23didn't make myself clear enough. Because I feel like my issue
- 19:28because I feel like. My issue isn't so much like that
- 19:30they left in an unwanted sound or a mistake or something like
- 19:33that, because I feel like in a way that's kind of part of the
- 19:36charm of YouTube videos or this is something I like.
- 19:38Like if I want something super polished and professional and
- 19:41overly produced, I'm going to go to TV or a film or something.
- 19:44But I want that kind of homemade.
- 19:46Quality that is a little bit. Imperfect at times when I'm
- 19:48watching YouTube. I like the homemade feel and I
- 19:51don't mind people making mistakes.
- 19:53I don't mind when they leave in. Editing errors or trip over
- 19:56their words, or, you know, background noises or anything
- 20:00that doesn't actually bother me that much, so I.
- 20:02Feel like I may be. Expressed myself wrong here.
- 20:05My issues with Morgan and Carl in this particular part of the
- 20:09clip is minor compared to what we're coming up to in the rest
- 20:12of the video, but mostly just I don't think there's any need to.
- 20:19Be critical. Of ambulances in general or
- 20:22people who work in emergency services because the work they
- 20:24do is invaluable and I don't think it's fair to critique them
- 20:28like this and screech about them and how terrible they are.
- 20:31More than like make jokes about them.
- 20:33Like it just feels unnecessary, there's no need for it.
- 20:37And secondly. I think what?
- 20:40Bothered me was less like about them leaving in a mistake and
- 20:44more just like the fact that they're so boring and they have
- 20:48so little to talk about that they made a whole.
- 20:51Quarter of their. Podcast being them complaining
- 20:53about an ambulance. Do you know what I mean?
- 20:55It's just like, find something to say.
- 20:59You know, the irony that I'm now making a video talking about
- 21:03them talking about that. I know, I know.
- 21:07But my point is like it's boring.
- 21:08Like if you'd actually planned out your podcast and had some
- 21:12interesting things to talk about, you wouldn't have needed
- 21:14to have this. You wouldn't have needed to
- 21:15leave this in to. Path, the running time, you
- 21:18could have just cut all this because it's unnecessary and
- 21:20it's boring. And that's my main criticism.
- 21:23Not that they left in a mistake or something unwanted or
- 21:25whatever. It's that it's boring.
- 21:28That's what I think I'm trying to say.
- 21:30I don't know. I'm very tired at the moment.
- 21:32If you can't tell, life is hard right now.
- 21:37Have you all ever driven behind an EMS and they're like flying,
- 21:40but like, they're just like laughing in the back?
- 21:42I've seen that. I've literally seen it through
- 21:44the window of the EMS and I'm like OK.
- 21:47So Morgan's conspiracy is that people who are in ambulance, I
- 21:51just haven't, are just having a party.
- 21:54No, I'm kidding. I wasn't going to focus this
- 21:56video on like giving the marketing advice, but here we
- 21:58are. I guess for those of you who
- 21:59don't know, I used to work in digital marketing and I'm far
- 22:01better at advising others than I am about applying it to myself.
- 22:04I find it very hard to kind of view myself as a brand.
- 22:08It's tough. Anyway, let's move on.
- 22:12So my week has been I've slept terrible every single night and
- 22:18I do not sleep bad. Do you sleep bad?
- 22:22Last night actually was a very bad night and I feel like I have
- 22:25to be honest about that. But for the most part, no.
- 22:27I'm I sleep pretty OK. OK.
- 22:29I'm like a rock solid sleeper. Like my head hits that pillow
- 22:34and I am gone. Don't come trying to talk to me
- 22:38or you know anything like I'm. Out.
- 22:41It's certainly fair. I don't know who would be trying
- 22:43to talk to. My husband.
- 22:46Wow, guys. Wow.
- 22:49Top quality content. I can see why you couldn't wait
- 22:52to share this with the world. What a unique and illuminating
- 22:56perspective. I feel so inspired right now.
- 23:02Yeah, we are now 7 minutes into a 29 minute podcast that is 1/4
- 23:06of the way through and so far we've had nothing really.
- 23:08We've learnt Morgan is moving house, Morgan hasn't slept well.
- 23:11They don't like ambulances and they think this is super
- 23:14interesting content that people are going to want to come back
- 23:16for every month. It took you 7 minutes to say all
- 23:19that? I know why ramble but come on
- 23:22this was the longest 7 minutes of my life watching this.
- 23:24Entire week leading up to Friday, us telling the landlord
- 23:27it was still kind of like back and forth, like we weren't 100%
- 23:30sure. Why are you laughing?
- 23:36What? What is this?
- 23:37I was. Thinking about not laughing,
- 23:40that's crazy. No, but there's a scars going
- 23:43fine. As they are, they are.
- 23:48I'm sorry guys, should be second to recover.
- 23:52OK. Are you collected?
- 23:54I'm collected now. I don't get it.
- 23:59I am re going into that's not the right phrase but that's what
- 24:03I'm saying. Go for it, my sourdough journey.
- 24:06Congratulations. Yes, thank you.
- 24:08Like, I love baking as much as the next person, but there is
- 24:11only so much I can continue to hear about sourdough without
- 24:14wanting to punch my own eardrums.
- 24:16Why is it that people who get into making sourdough make it
- 24:19their whole? Make it their whole personality?
- 24:21Like, yeah, it tastes good. I like bacon as well.
- 24:25Bacon's good. I don't need to listen to
- 24:27someone talk about sourdough for 20 minutes when they're just
- 24:29repeating the same things I've heard for a few other people.
- 24:32Oh, I love sourdough. Oh, my start is doing OK.
- 24:36Oh, I need to give my start a more flour.
- 24:39Oh, I bake sourdough and give it to my friends.
- 24:41Look, I wrapped it in some fabric.
- 24:45Look, I wrapped it in a brown paper bag.
- 24:48Look, like if you're going to talk about sourdough, tell me
- 24:51something new for once, please. I'm so I'm sure there are great
- 24:56sourdough creators out there. Morgan and Carl are not in that
- 24:59category. Now the question though, is are
- 25:02you going to use freshly milled flour?
- 25:03Oh my gosh. So annoying.
- 25:05No, no. Was she saying it like this on
- 25:08purpose? Because this is all I could
- 25:09hear. Carl, Carl, Carl that kills
- 25:13people. They then spend several minutes
- 25:16talking about flour and bugs and bugs in flour.
- 25:20There's also a lot of misinformation in all this.
- 25:24Yeah, again, this could have all been cooked.
- 25:27But it was this woman who has like a one of those grain mill
- 25:31things. I don't know.
- 25:31Oh, I know what you're talking. About and there were bugs in it.
- 25:35Oh my, I could. But that wasn't the mill, that
- 25:38was the grain. I don't speak like cane berries.
- 25:41They were there. You know what I mean?
- 25:44Like enough. It's like enough.
- 25:46Like I understand why people, why you do what you do.
- 25:50I do. It's supposed to be so much
- 25:52better flower, but like I I just, I would rather not see my
- 25:58bugs in my flower, you know? OK, I don't have bugs in my
- 26:01flower, thank you very much. And you can buy a store bought
- 26:04bag of flour and there could be bugs in there.
- 26:07Well, yeah, but I'm not going to see them, you know what I mean?
- 26:09You would see them. Oh.
- 26:10I don't think I would. Why would you see them in the
- 26:12wheat berries but not in the? Store because I feel like the
- 26:15wheat berries are more organic like in the it's like more of a
- 26:18like an opportunity for other organic life.
- 26:21I actually felt myself getting stupider at this part.
- 26:24We are at 14 1/2 minutes into the podcast and they finally
- 26:28decide to get to the meat of this episode of the podcast and
- 26:31talk about crazy takes in life. I thought they were going to do
- 26:34like one each at this point, but they don't.
- 26:36Only call gets a crazy take and this is what it is.
- 26:40OK, so the crazy take of the week is not my crazy take.
- 26:44Is that crazy take I have been seeing swirling and twirling
- 26:47around online and it is that getting pregnant or being
- 26:52pregnant, just having babies in general in this time period, in
- 26:57this day and age in which we live is selfish.
- 27:02And I, from what I understand from this argument, is that it
- 27:08is selfish because we just live in such horrible times.
- 27:11Like there's the climate crisis and all the politicians that are
- 27:17horrible and just like wars and things.
- 27:21And I don't know, I just think that that's a pretty crazy take.
- 27:25What do you think that's? A crazy take.
- 27:27All right, I got to tell you, you brought a good one today.
- 27:32No, it's insane. I actually saw a clip of this
- 27:35clipped and posted online, which is what made me want to respond
- 27:38to this podcast in the 1st place.
- 27:40And because I heard this and I had thoughts.
- 27:43So many thoughts. Now a context if you're new here
- 27:46and you don't know me. Hi my name is Rachel and I am a
- 27:49child free woman. I never want to have children
- 27:51myself but I am by no means an anti natalist.
- 27:54I completely support other people if they want to have kids
- 27:57and they choose to have kids and I don't actively believe that
- 28:00people should stop having kids. I also, I guess it's kind of
- 28:04like an extra dimension to my child free nurse because it is
- 28:08very likely that I wouldn't be able to have kids myself and I
- 28:11have a lot of uterus issues and some cervix issues, which means
- 28:15that conceiving would potentially be very difficult
- 28:18for me. And if I did, the whole process
- 28:20of growing a baby and giving birth to it could potentially
- 28:24kill me. So for me, it just feels like my
- 28:27body and my mind are very aligned and I don't mind that,
- 28:31but that's kind of like an extra dimension in to my experience
- 28:35around this conversation. I don't know what I'm trying to
- 28:39say. I'm not I'm it's so late at
- 28:40night, I'm rambling. I'm tired.
- 28:43I am I'm nearly 33. I am too old to be filming in
- 28:47the middle of the night. But here we are.
- 28:48This is my life for now. So one of the things that really
- 28:52bothered me a lot about this clip was that Carl put things
- 28:54like climate crisis, corrupt politicians and so on in these
- 28:58quotation marks because can we not?
- 29:01These are very real things to be concerned about.
- 29:03These are things that absolutely will affect you and any children
- 29:06you do decide to have. And I do believe these are
- 29:09things you should be thinking about before you bring a child
- 29:11into this world, especially things like the climate crisis.
- 29:14I have less of an issue with the choice to have children or not
- 29:18being labelled as selfish or not selfish because I think if you
- 29:23do decide to have children for a reason that it's selfish, that
- 29:26is OK. It's OK.
- 29:28Well, for me in my mind, it's not exactly selfish.
- 29:31It's self focused. And I think it's OK for people
- 29:33to be self focused sometimes. So for example, if a person
- 29:36says, hey, I really want to have kids because I personally want
- 29:39to have the opportunity to raise a little person and make their
- 29:42life amazing, I think that's a self focused reason and there's
- 29:46nothing wrong with that. Who am I to say a person
- 29:48shouldn't do that or that it's it's selfish or not like it just
- 29:52it's fine you go for it, I support you.
- 29:54The big issue that I really have is with Carl and Morgan's
- 29:56dismissal of big issues like climate change which will affect
- 30:00future generations and is something people should be
- 30:02thinking about for all. Some people like to disagree me
- 30:05and disagree with me in the comments.
- 30:06I do think we have a big problem in the world at the minute with
- 30:10overpopulation, with overconsumption, with creating
- 30:13too much waste, with overuse of non non renewable energy sources
- 30:18and I think that is something we do need to think about and we do
- 30:21need to be concerned with. You know, I, I remember seeing
- 30:26like, what are they called, like neonatalists or something like.
- 30:29Oh, I have no idea. It's like, that's probably not
- 30:32the word, but it's something natalists that like they, they
- 30:35wish that they had not been born.
- 30:37So what they mean here is not neonatalists or anything like
- 30:41that. What they mean is what they're
- 30:44referring to is antenatalists and and how they describe it is
- 30:48a big, big oversimplification is a big, big oversimplification of
- 30:52what anti natalists actually believe.
- 30:55And this is where I think a little bit of simple planning
- 30:58ahead of filming so that they can do their research and get
- 31:00their thoughts together before the camera turns on would have
- 31:03been useful. So they're not spreading
- 31:04misinformation in this way. And basically anti natalism is a
- 31:08philosophical judgement if you will, and a viewpoint, an
- 31:11ideology that states that procreation is ultimately
- 31:14unethical. This can look different in
- 31:16practise for different people, and there are different
- 31:18viewpoints within the antenatalist kind of umbrella,
- 31:22if you will. So on a purely theoretical
- 31:24basis, antenatalist might often argue about things like how
- 31:27babies cannot consent to being born or being brought into this
- 31:30world in the 1st place, how they themselves didn't consent to it,
- 31:34and how life how life inevitably leads to suffering in one way or
- 31:38another. So it's unethical to bring new
- 31:40life into the world and therefore into suffering and so
- 31:43on. But on a practical level, how
- 31:45they express this might be that some anti teenage list choose to
- 31:48never have children themselves, some choose to argue that no
- 31:51other people should ever have children themselves, some say
- 31:54that they won't have children themselves but they will
- 31:56actively take steps to improve the life of those who are
- 31:58already living by adopting or fostering children and so on.
- 32:02There's again, many, many facets to this.
- 32:05It's far more complex than I could cover in one small second
- 32:08of one small video. And as I'm not an Anthony Nate
- 32:10list myself, I'm probably not the best person to be speaking
- 32:13about this. I'd recommend you go and listen
- 32:14to Anthony Nate Lists themselves to get their points of view.
- 32:17And I've left a book written by 1 Anthony Nate list down in the
- 32:21sources and further reading for this video if you want to check
- 32:23it out. And I'm going to be quoting from
- 32:25it later. So put a pin in this, we'll come
- 32:26back to it. They wish that they had not been
- 32:29born and they're like mad at their mom for having them and
- 32:33like. And crazy wild.
- 32:36Literally it's. Insane.
- 32:38Yeah it does sound crazy since you just made it up.
- 32:43That's not how the majority of anti naturists think.
- 32:46This is the epitome of a straw man fallacy.
- 32:49And they think that like, it's selfish to have kids.
- 32:52Yeah. So I have heard of this take
- 32:54before and it is crazy and it is the dumbest take in the
- 32:58universe. And listen as a mom.
- 33:01Yes. As mothers, we understand the
- 33:06fears that come with having children.
- 33:08Yeah, no matter what day and age we're in, whether it's 2026 or
- 33:16200 AD, No BC or AD. Yeah, either one either.
- 33:22Yeah, it's really old place. So they're just grossing over
- 33:27any claims of selfishness and calling them crazy instead of
- 33:29providing any counter argument and assuming people worry about
- 33:33that simply because they're scared of having kids.
- 33:36This is a complete nonsense argument right here.
- 33:39Because that's not it. That's not the antenatalist
- 33:42position. Antenatalists are not scared of
- 33:44having kids themselves. Instead it's more of a
- 33:47philosophical position where they think it is immoral to
- 33:51create new life when it cannot consent to being created.
- 33:55They think it's immoral to bring a child into the world that is
- 33:58so filled with pain and suffering that that inevitably
- 34:01that child will end up suffering, will end up in pain.
- 34:05They think it's immoral to bring a child into the world who will,
- 34:08who will inevitably contribute to more environmental damage and
- 34:13destruction to the planet and or bring more pain and suffer
- 34:16offering to others and so on. It's not about them.
- 34:19Oh, I'm scared to raise a baby that that's not the Anthony
- 34:21Nicholas position at all. It's a position about the ethics
- 34:25of bringing children into this world, not about an individual
- 34:28being scared or not. And again, it's much more
- 34:30complicated than I can possibly express in this one video.
- 34:33There's so many more facets to it than I've mentioned so far,
- 34:36but it's not at all as Morgan and Carl are presenting it.
- 34:42But. But but what imagine?
- 34:45Can you just imagine if Mary, beautiful Mother?
- 34:49Mary had said. Sorry, Jesus.
- 34:51This. Sorry, Angel.
- 34:53Yeah. I can't be doing that because
- 34:55we're living in crazy times, you know what I'm saying?
- 34:57Living. Under Roman occupation.
- 34:59And yeah, like, that would be so stupid and so dumb.
- 35:03Again I'm so tired of Morgan's only counter arguments to
- 35:06anything being that's so stupid. That's so dumb.
- 35:09And may if you really believe that Mary gave birth to Jesus
- 35:12like the Bible says then she didn't exactly have a choice in
- 35:14it did she? Even if maybe even if Mary was
- 35:17an anti natalist she wouldn't have had a choice but to birth
- 35:20Jesus or not if it really happened as the Bible says.
- 35:23So your whole point makes no sense.
- 35:26But either way this reminds me of the anti choice argument of
- 35:30but what if the embryo aborted would grow up to cure cancer?
- 35:33That's why abortion is wrong. OK, and what if the embryo that
- 35:37was aborted grew up to be the next Hitler and commit genocide
- 35:40of 1,000,000? Does that certainly make
- 35:41abortion right? No, that's not a solid argument
- 35:45for why abortion should or should not be allowed, just as
- 35:48it's not a solid argument for why or why not someone should or
- 35:50shouldn't be an anti natalist. We can't actually know the
- 35:55future for sure. All we can do is use our best
- 35:57judgement to do what we think is the best for us and the people
- 36:00around us in the moment. And for some people, choosing
- 36:04not to have kids themselves is really what they truly believe
- 36:07is the best thing to do. I don't see why someone saying
- 36:11I'm going to weigh up all my options and choose to do the one
- 36:13thing that I think will minimise the amount of harm caused to
- 36:16others is in any way dumb. Just because that's not a
- 36:19conclusion you'd come to in your situation, or because that's not
- 36:24a choice you would make in your situation, that doesn't mean
- 36:27that their choice in their situation or their conclusion in
- 36:30their situation is dumb. So yeah, this idea that we
- 36:34should that itself, First of all, why the heck is it selfish?
- 36:38Because it is the most selfless job in the universe.
- 36:42Name another job. It can't be done.
- 36:46Literally, it can't be done of being a mother.
- 36:49It cannot. You cannot tell me that there's
- 36:52another. No.
- 36:53I think the fact that they're even asking this shows that
- 36:55they've not bothered to all to engage with the people they're
- 36:57arguing against because they don't even know what they're
- 37:00arguing against. Again, I'll reiterate, some
- 37:03people think it's selfish or unethical and to not have kids
- 37:07because they worry about whole number of factors including but
- 37:10not limited to one, the lack of consent from the person being
- 37:13born. 2. That the person being born will
- 37:16inevitably suffer in some way. Three, that the person being
- 37:19born will inevitably contribute to the planet's destruction.
- 37:22Four, that the person being born will inevitably cause suffering
- 37:25to others in some way. Five, that the negative and
- 37:28destructive consequences of bringing the child into this
- 37:30world outweigh the positive and constructive consequences of
- 37:34bringing a child into this world on average.
- 37:36And so on. If you want to argue against one
- 37:39or more of these points, then please, Morgan Carl, go ahead.
- 37:43It would make a much more interesting video than just
- 37:46calling people stupid and screech laughing about it.
- 37:49Even I could argue against some of these points, you know, and
- 37:53you know, I could. So, for example, you could argue
- 37:55that when you bring a child into the world, you don't know what
- 37:58the actual long term consequences of this will be.
- 38:00And while there is a high chance that the child you bring into
- 38:02the world will contribute to damaging the environment, as we
- 38:05all do or increase human suffering in one way or another,
- 38:08there was also a chance that they might actually improve the
- 38:10environment or to help heal the environment.
- 38:13There's a chance they will help more people than they harm.
- 38:16So therefore, it could be argued that you can't actually make a
- 38:18judgement about whether bringing about whether bringing an
- 38:21individual child into this world will or will not be ethical
- 38:25until after it's happened. So you, you could argue against
- 38:28a position like that. That could be an interesting
- 38:31thing to discuss and have the back and forth about and be
- 38:33like, well, some people think this, then others think this and
- 38:35show that back and forth like, like I'm doing now, but do it in
- 38:39more detail. That would be way more
- 38:40interesting, but instead just being like, I'm going to build a
- 38:44straw man of what I think they think, but it's not what they
- 38:46actually think, but it's what I think they think and then tear
- 38:49it down by saying why do you think that?
- 38:52It's so stupid? It's not a compelling or
- 38:55interesting video or piece of content to me and it does
- 38:58nothing to convince me that you're in the right in any way.
- 39:02Like I say, I'm not an anti naturist, but I still think they
- 39:05have more compelling arguments than you do.
- 39:07And in in some ways with Morgan and Carl, I'm on your side like
- 39:12but anyway. Although also not because I
- 39:18would argue that the opposite of anti natalist is just to not be
- 39:23an anti natalist, but Morgan and Carl kind of go the opposite way
- 39:26and they're more like pro natalists.
- 39:28They think everyone should be having kids and so on.
- 39:30And so I'm not on that side. I'm rambling.
- 39:33Anyway now the argument that there is no one less selfish
- 39:39than a mother that they bring up, That is an interesting point
- 39:42to me. And once again I'm annoyed that
- 39:43they didn't go into more details with this because I think this
- 39:46is something worth debating. I do kind of want to hear their
- 39:48viewpoint on this. Why do they believe this?
- 39:50Give me some more details because on the one hand, I agree
- 39:53with them and I can totally see where they're coming from.
- 39:55Generally speaking, mothers are the ones to give birth to
- 39:58babies. I mean, not always.
- 40:00We have to acknowledge that trans men exist and they might
- 40:02not necessarily want to use the label of mother.
- 40:05We also have to acknowledge that there are different kinds of
- 40:07mothers are than the ones who give birth.
- 40:08So for example, adoptive mothers and so on.
- 40:12So we have to acknowledge that. But but just generally speaking,
- 40:14on average, mothers are the ones to give birth to a child.
- 40:17So they're the ones who are sacrificing their health and
- 40:19their body to bring a child into this world.
- 40:21And whether you do agree with it or not, mothers do generally do
- 40:25the majority of the child care and that is a damn difficult
- 40:28job. And doing that is incredibly
- 40:30selfless and that should be celebrated.
- 40:32And I think that's something no one can deny.
- 40:36However, on the other hand, we have to ask what about the
- 40:38fathers? Because there are, because there
- 40:41absolutely are some fathers out there who do just as much, if
- 40:43not more of the parenting than the mothers.
- 40:45And you know, so we could just argue that it's not that being a
- 40:49mother is the most selfless, selfless thing in the world.
- 40:52It's that being a good parent is the most selfless thing in the
- 40:54world. You could make that counter
- 40:55argument or you could say, or you could argue that, you know,
- 41:01not all mothers are the most selfless people because what
- 41:03about mothers who hurt or because what about mothers who
- 41:10purposefully harm or neglect or abuse their children?
- 41:14They are, you know, undeniably being selfish and horrible.
- 41:18You can't say they're the most selfless people in the world.
- 41:20So I think there's nuances to this discussion, and it's
- 41:22something that could be interesting to talk about.
- 41:25The claim that mothers are the most selfless people in the
- 41:28world, that's the most selfless thing you can do, is a really
- 41:31interesting position. It's something that I would like
- 41:33to see debated. I think Absolutely, yeah.
- 41:36And then you can bring in arguments that maybe there are
- 41:38other jobs that are just as selfless, if not more selfless.
- 41:41So for example, I'm sure there are many arguments that could be
- 41:43made for the most selfless job being people who are full time
- 41:47carers, healthcare workers, like especially nurses, for example,
- 41:51nannies, firefighters and so on. You know, like they like
- 41:55firefighters risk their lives to save people and help them.
- 41:58There's an argument that they could have the most selfless job
- 42:00and so on. So again, I don't think it's as
- 42:03simple as what they're just screeching about.
- 42:05I think they make a potentially interesting point, but it's not
- 42:09explored in a way that I find interesting or useful or unique
- 42:14or just compelling in any way, you know?
- 42:17Next up, Carl makes a claim about who she believes are some
- 42:20of the most misogynistic people. And I'm just going to pause
- 42:23here, and I want you to go down in the comments and tell me who
- 42:26you think Carl thinks the most misogynistic people are.
- 42:29What group does Carl think of the most misogynist?
- 42:33Let me know down in the comments your guests and then watch this
- 42:37next clip. It might surprise you.
- 42:40Surprise me, I'll tell you that. I think what's crazy about this
- 42:44is that some of the most this is going to be crazy.
- 42:48Some of the most misogynistic people are these feminists, like
- 42:55because you can't really be like, Oh yeah, pro women.
- 42:59I'm all for women doing what they want and then be like,
- 43:02you're selfish to have a baby or like, you know, I'll see women
- 43:07like feminists in like the comment section of like moms
- 43:11post, you know, be like, this is a great, you know, ad for birth
- 43:14control or just like horrible, nasty things.
- 43:17And I'm like, you guys are actually some of the most
- 43:21misogynistic human beings on the face of the planet.
- 43:24It's the wild. So Carl believes that feminists
- 43:27are the most misogynistic people out there.
- 43:30Now I was really confused because why are you suddenly
- 43:32talking about feminists all of a sudden when you're discussing
- 43:34antenatalists? Feminists and antenatalists are
- 43:36not the same at all. Some feminists may be
- 43:39antenatalists, some antenatalists may be feminists,
- 43:42but but not all antenatalists are feminists, and not all
- 43:45feminists are antenatalists. Take myself for example.
- 43:48I would describe myself. I would describe myself as an
- 43:51intersectional feminist, but not an antenatalist.
- 43:54I do, however, agree with Carl that it is a bit mean and
- 43:57unnecessary to comment those things on people's posts.
- 44:00I am completely with her there and I support her.
- 44:02I'll be honest though, sometimes when I see posts about children
- 44:06or babies or whatever I do have those thoughts myself.
- 44:09I might see some snot covered crying child and be like Oh my
- 44:14God yes OK seeing this confirms that I never want one.
- 44:18Even things like when people post like happy things about
- 44:21like oh we had a day out of the zoo with the kids.
- 44:23I'm like oh God that's like my idea of hell.
- 44:26I love going to the zoo and I love that being me time alone
- 44:29where I can just take photos. The idea of having to do that
- 44:31with a kid confirms to me again that I never want 1.
- 44:34So I admit I do have those thoughts.
- 44:36However, I would never say that like in the comments or directly
- 44:40to a parent because that's just cruel for the sake of it.
- 44:43It's unnecessary. They don't need to know.
- 44:45I'm thinking that, you know, it's just, it's not, not
- 44:48necessary. So I completely agree with Carl
- 44:50here that it is cruel to say those things and it it doesn't
- 44:52need to happen. However, I don't understand why
- 44:55she's blaming feminists for it. It is not a feminist viewpoint
- 44:59that having kids is bad. Like it's not a feminist
- 45:03viewpoint that you need to leave mean comments on people's social
- 45:06media posts. That is not a feminist thing to
- 45:08do. That's just a mean person thing
- 45:10to do. Like I say, as a feminist
- 45:12myself, I always have been and always will be outspoken in my
- 45:16support of mothers, especially in terms of receipt and just
- 45:20people in general with kids receiving proper health care,
- 45:23proper social care, proper support, proper paid maternity
- 45:27leave and so on. I will always support a person's
- 45:29right to choose what happens to their body on whether they want
- 45:32to have kids or not. And I think every person should
- 45:35have full support of whatever they decide to do with their
- 45:38lives and their family situation and their bodies and so on.
- 45:41And I don't think that's an unusual viewpoint for a feminist
- 45:43to have. So many feminists are mothers
- 45:46themselves, you know, And I think that's a pretty common and
- 45:51obvious bit of knowledge. I, I don't know.
- 45:53I don't know. Anyway, I just don't get why
- 45:56Carl is equating some sort of like mean commenter on social
- 46:01media with misogynistic feminists and then equating them
- 46:05with antenatalists like it. It's all such a jumble of
- 46:08thoughts. She's angry at a lot of people
- 46:10and she's kind of putting them all in the same group with the
- 46:13same label. And you're like, no, they're
- 46:15not. They're not the same things at
- 46:17all. You know, I feels like another
- 46:19straw man fallacy going on here it.
- 46:22Takes so much mental gymnastics to get there.
- 46:26Like I still I don't even know how you.
- 46:28Get there. People have been having babies,
- 46:32obviously, since like the dawn of the beginning and like
- 46:36throughout all courses, like, like, when has there ever
- 46:40actually been a better time to have babies than now?
- 46:42Like with modern medicine, with sanitation, with like, access to
- 46:46like so much? And you're telling me that now
- 46:50is not as good a time to have a baby as like during, I don't
- 46:52know, the Cold War or the Great Depression?
- 46:55It's just crazy. Yeah, sure, absolutely.
- 46:58Some things are better than they've ever been, especially in
- 47:00regards to the healthcare we have today and things like our
- 47:03advances in medicine and treatments and so on.
- 47:05But this doesn't mean someone has to do something like have
- 47:08children if they don't want to. If someone offered me the best
- 47:10ice cream in the world but I just wasn't hungry, that doesn't
- 47:13mean I have to eat it. I can still turn it down and
- 47:15say, no, you're not going to be shoving ice cream forcefully
- 47:17into my mouth against my will, just like you're not going to be
- 47:20shoving babies forcefully into my uterus.
- 47:22Just because we have better medicine than we've had in the
- 47:25past, and just because we have things like good sanitation and
- 47:28healthcare, as they mentioned now in many parts of the world,
- 47:31that doesn't mean they're available in all parts of the
- 47:34world. I think Morgan and Carl struggle
- 47:36to think outside their own little bubble in their own
- 47:38little white, middle class part of America.
- 47:41I've spoken before about how disturbingly high the maternal
- 47:43mortality rate is for Black women in America.
- 47:46But it's not just America where it's a problem.
- 47:49Look at the mortality rates for women around the world.
- 47:51So the World Health Organisation tells us that every day in 2023
- 47:55/ 700 women died from preventable causes related to
- 47:59pregnancy and childbirth. A maternal death occurred almost
- 48:02every two minutes in 2023, while the World Population Review
- 48:06listed the maternal mortality rates as being as high as 993
- 48:10deaths per 100,000 births in Nigeria and 748 deaths per
- 48:14100,000 in Chad. And a a lot of other countries
- 48:17saw similarly high rates. Just because it's better than
- 48:20ever in some parts of the world, that doesn't mean there's no
- 48:23risk for women in other parts of the world.
- 48:26And even in those parts of the world where you do have good
- 48:28health care, there's still massive risks.
- 48:30And again, I'll say it especially for black women
- 48:33because their pain is not taken seriously, they are not listened
- 48:36to by a lot of doctors and health professionals and they
- 48:39don't get the care they need and they end up suffering and dying
- 48:42because of it. And that's just absolutely not
- 48:45OK. It is absolutely, absolutely
- 48:47fine knowing this information for people to be worried and
- 48:51take this into consideration when deciding whether they want
- 48:53to have kids or not. Plus, do you really think
- 48:55there's people during the Cold War and Great Depression, as
- 48:58Carl says, and have a choice like we do today?
- 49:01Today we do have more access to contraceptives and abortion and
- 49:04so on. So people do have more of a
- 49:06choice than they ever did. Why not exercise that choice?
- 49:10I don't understand this viewpoint that just because
- 49:12people suffered in the past, we should suffer the same things
- 49:14today. And also, I don't mean to say or
- 49:16speak about this in a disrespectful way, but the first
- 49:19time Morgan gave birth, she nearly died.
- 49:23She was in real, real danger. And when she had her second kid,
- 49:27she was petrified. She knows how dangerous
- 49:31childbirth can be. She knows that there are major
- 49:33concerns. There's a reason she doesn't
- 49:35want to have another kid because especially with her ongoing
- 49:38health issues and stuff and what's happened in the past, she
- 49:41could die. She would be very likely to die
- 49:43if she has another kid. I don't want that for her.
- 49:46I'm pretty sure she doesn't want that for herself.
- 49:49She knows through these risks, so why wouldn't she consider
- 49:52that other people also worry about that?
- 49:54Like I said before, I have a lot of these uterus problems, which
- 49:59means that if I had a kid and I was pregnant, it could cause a
- 50:03hell of a lot of damage or potentially kill me.
- 50:05I already decided I didn't want kids before I found this out,
- 50:08but now knowing that this is happening to me, it's made me
- 50:11even more determined to never have them and to never be
- 50:15pregnant. You know what I mean?
- 50:15Because I don't want to put my life at risk like that.
- 50:19And I think that's a completely valid and OK take to have.
- 50:22I think when Morgan says she doesn't want to have any more
- 50:25kids because, you know, she is worried about health and stuff,
- 50:27that is a completely valid take to have.
- 50:30I just don't understand why she can't see that that's OK for
- 50:33other people, You know, I, I don't know.
- 50:36And it's such a chronically online take 2, like this is the
- 50:40take of women or people who are on their phone all the time and
- 50:46they like do not have real life experiences or encounters with
- 50:49anybody. I'm like, convinced.
- 50:50Yeah, that's so true. That's.
- 50:52So accurate. OK one pot kettle.
- 50:57You are saying that sat next to the woman who posts like 30
- 51:00Instagram stories a day and argues with strangers on Reddit
- 51:03constantly 2. Please explain this to me
- 51:06because I'm so confused by what you mean.
- 51:09How is someone saying something like I'm worried about the
- 51:11damage humans are doing to the environment so I don't want to
- 51:13have any kids who will contribute to the population
- 51:16increasing which may cause more environmental damage.
- 51:20How is that a chronically online take?
- 51:24I'm so confused. Cuz yeah, like name a person
- 51:26that we like talk to on a normal basis face to face come across
- 51:29and like they would have that view.
- 51:31Like I cannot think of a single. Person No.
- 51:33No, because it's insane. It's insane.
- 51:35Yeah, and you know what? I could say the opposite of
- 51:37this. Like 80% of my close friends in
- 51:39the real world are also child free people.
- 51:42And I think that's just because we as humans generally spend
- 51:45time with people who have the same values on lifestyles as us.
- 51:48That doesn't mean that antenatalists or child free
- 51:50people are chronically online. It just means that for Paul, for
- 51:54Paul and Morgan, God for Call and Morgan, they don't have a
- 51:56particularly diverse group of friends in that respect.
- 51:59You know, And you know what, neither do I, but at least I'm
- 52:01aware of it. And I'm not claiming that of all
- 52:04these people who just want to have kids and they want to pop
- 52:06out babies all the time, That's such a chronically online take.
- 52:10No, just because you only interact with people with a
- 52:13different viewpoint to you online, that doesn't mean they
- 52:17are chronically online, you know?
- 52:19And again, I'm sorry, but like with the amount Morgan posts and
- 52:23like how she's constantly reading subreddits about herself
- 52:26and comments about herself and stuff, like it feels a little
- 52:28hypocritical to complain about other people being chronically
- 52:31online when you're like, when you're there, Morgan, you know,
- 52:34I, you know. But also I think the other part
- 52:37of it that just like gets me is that they're talking about like,
- 52:40the reason why it's so bad to have a baby right now is because
- 52:43of all these like big horrible issues that are going on.
- 52:45And I'm like. There's always there's a
- 52:47horrible there. But that but then also like we
- 52:50are a resilient like species and we have babies in times of like
- 52:57chaos and in times of peace. But like this idea that not
- 53:01having children is like the best thing we can do is insane
- 53:04because if everyone were to just stop having kids, like we would
- 53:08die species. And I just think like that's so
- 53:13anti biological it's insane. Like, do you hate yourself?
- 53:17Ignoring the hating yourself comment here, that is the point.
- 53:21That is what some anti natalists want and believe.
- 53:25There is a book by David Benatar, the one I mentioned
- 53:27earlier, called Better to Have Never Been, which opens with a
- 53:30wonderfully succinct summary. Each one of us was harmed by
- 53:33being brought into existence. That harm is not negligible
- 53:36because the quality of even the best lives is very bad and
- 53:40considerably worse than most people recognise it to be.
- 53:42Although it is obviously too late to prevent our own
- 53:44existence, it is not too late to prevent the existence of future
- 53:48possible people. Creating new people is thus
- 53:51morally problematic, he goes on to write later in the book.
- 53:55The central idea of this book is that coming into existence is
- 53:58always serious harm, although the good things in life make it
- 54:02go better than it otherwise would have gone.
- 54:04One could not have been deprived of their absence if one had not
- 54:07existed. Those who never exist cannot be
- 54:10deprived. However, by coming into
- 54:12existence, one does suffer quite serious harms that could not
- 54:16have befallen one had one not come into existence.
- 54:20And This is why it's so important to listen to actual
- 54:22antenatalists and hear what they're saying instead of just
- 54:25making it up. Yeah.
- 54:26And yeah. While this isn't necessarily the
- 54:28view that I personally hold because, like I say, I'm pretty
- 54:30undecided, I absolutely see where he's coming from.
- 54:33And I understand that Saying it's insane.
- 54:36We would die, humans would die is an illogical response to this
- 54:40because in the views of many antenatalists, the
- 54:43discontinuation of the human race is the only way to prevent
- 54:47more suffering. That is essentially what they
- 54:49want. I guess what I'm saying is that
- 54:51if Carl wants to effectively respond to this, she should be
- 54:53arguing why she believes it's important for the human race to
- 54:56continue. Not just that it should.
- 54:58I guess to give you an analogy of where everyone's at in terms
- 55:01of this argument, let's say me, Carl and David are organising a
- 55:05party. David who who wrote the book and
- 55:08he says I want us to serve chocolate cake because XY and Z
- 55:13reasons and I don't think we should serve lemon cake because
- 55:16of AB and C reasons. And I say, well, yeah, I see
- 55:21your viewpoint. I could also argue against your
- 55:23viewpoint. I see the pros for lemon cake
- 55:26where you don't and I see the cons of chocolate cake where you
- 55:29don't. So, but I also, you know, I also
- 55:32see the pros of chocolate cake. So why don't we put out one
- 55:36chocolate cake and 1 lemon cake and we let people choose which
- 55:39cake they want to eat. And then Carl comes in and says,
- 55:42no, no, no, no, no, we should only serve lemon cake and we
- 55:45should force everyone at the party to have a size of the
- 55:47lemon cake because if we serve chocolate cake, that's really
- 55:51bad because it's chocolate. Are you stupid?
- 55:54And then she just leaves it there like.
- 55:55Really, truly. I think it goes back to what you
- 55:57were saying about like, I don't know what the term is, but you
- 55:59said neonatal. Yeah.
- 56:00Because people who are mad that they were porn and I'm like, OK,
- 56:04what do you want? I mean, what do you?
- 56:05Want sorry that you hate your life like those people are the
- 56:09saddest people in the universe because they literally like hate
- 56:12their lives. They hate that they're alive and
- 56:14that is so sad and like demonic. I mean, let's be real.
- 56:19But yeah, just to try and like make this take take that like a
- 56:26ginormous population believes is crazy.
- 56:28Yeah, and it absolutely is sad when people hate their own
- 56:30lives. However, that's not the reason
- 56:33people have for being antenatalists.
- 56:35They don't become antenatalists because they hate their own
- 56:37lives or because like Carla Morgan think they hate their
- 56:40mothers or something like that. And that's absolutely not why
- 56:43antenatalists think other people should be antenatalists either.
- 56:46Like, I can't believe I'm going to sit here in a video and
- 56:49defend a position that I don't even hold myself just because
- 56:53Morgan and Carl are misrepresenting it so
- 56:55completely. It's wild.
- 56:57It's. Crazy.
- 56:58Well, I think like, you know what, whatever, if you don't
- 57:01have kids, if you don't want to, blah, blah, blah.
- 57:03That's totally, that's sort of the new.
- 57:04I think what gets me is like getting on this like fake mind
- 57:09you, like moral high horse, you know, like you are doing so much
- 57:15for the population because you've decided you're not gonna
- 57:18have your future daughter and it's.
- 57:20Like and I'm kind of like honestly.
- 57:21Yes, because if you had a. Child.
- 57:23I'd be concerned for that kid, but.
- 57:25I mean, I mean. Well, I was about to
- 57:29congratulate her for being so accepting of child free people
- 57:31here and if not anti natalists, but then Morgan just had to go
- 57:35and ruin it all by being so completely nasty for for no
- 57:38reason. She is incredibly immature and
- 57:41just mean. And it's really hard when you're
- 57:44kind of like, again, when I made that massive 7 hour long video
- 57:48on Paul and Morgan, I didn't some ways feel myself rooting
- 57:51for them a bit because I saw this more human side of them.
- 57:53And I definitely saw a lot of Morgan's like vulnerabilities.
- 57:56And, and I, I saw her as more of a well-rounded person than I had
- 58:01done before as a part of me that wants to root for her and wants
- 58:04her to be happy and to be better and like, you know, to stop
- 58:08being so angry and miserable all the time.
- 58:09But then she's just so damn mean to so many people and she's so
- 58:14condescending and she's rude and it, it just makes it really hard
- 58:20to root for her when she's so nasty, you know?
- 58:23I will say, though, that I do think they're saying all of this
- 58:25stuff because they just simply don't understand the position
- 58:28they're arguing against. Like, well, like, I think that's
- 58:30been the whole point of this video, hasn't it?
- 58:32Like, I don't know how many more times I need to say it, to be
- 58:33honest. It's quite obvious now.
- 58:35They simply don't understand the position they're arguing
- 58:37against, so they can't make any compelling arguments against it.
- 58:41Anyway, the one last thing I want to cover is just this.
- 58:44Have you watched any of this Love is Blind this new season?
- 58:47OK, well, there's just this clip going around of so one of the
- 58:51contestants or people on it, Emma, she like really doesn't
- 58:54want to have kids or she's like struggling to know, like whether
- 58:57or not she does want them. And in a conversation she's
- 59:00having with her sister, her sister's talking about how, you
- 59:02know, she loves her kids, but if she could do it again, like she
- 59:04wouldn't have her kids. No.
- 59:07Yes. And she's saying this on like TV
- 59:11for everyone to see, including her kids one day when they grow
- 59:14up. And it's just like, no.
- 59:16It I'm sorry Morgan, but you cannot be shocked that some
- 59:19people to talk about their experiences online in this way.
- 59:22And you cannot be like disgusted and disturbed by this when this
- 59:26was the content that you yourself decided to post online
- 59:30and create in the first place in response to finding out you were
- 59:34pregnant a second time. I was supposed to start my
- 1:00:20period like 5 days ago and they put in and I was just like.
- 1:00:30I could say the exact same thing to you.
- 1:00:32Can you imagine your son growing up and seeing that?
- 1:00:35Like, I can't believe you would be so shocked to other mothers
- 1:00:38sharing their experience when you've done the exact same
- 1:00:40thing. And just to be completely,
- 1:00:41completely clear here, I do not blame Morgan at all for her
- 1:00:45reaction here. She nearly died during
- 1:00:48childbirth the first time, I'll say it again.
- 1:00:50And she was understandably, when she got pregnant the second
- 1:00:53time, terrified. That's completely
- 1:00:56understandable. I think this reaction, it makes
- 1:00:59sense. I would never judge her for
- 1:01:01having this reaction. It is heartbreaking to see that
- 1:01:04fear in her, to see those tears. Like you absolutely do feel for
- 1:01:08her. But also, if she's going to
- 1:01:11complain about mothers talking about their experience of like,
- 1:01:13oh, you know what, this is something I regret about being a
- 1:01:16mother or parenthood. If I had to make the choice
- 1:01:18again, maybe I wouldn't do this differently or I wouldn't do
- 1:01:20this or whatever. If she's going to complain about
- 1:01:22mothers doing that, then you have to accept that some people
- 1:01:25are going to say to you, well, how is your kid going to feel
- 1:01:29growing up and seeing that this was your first response to
- 1:01:32discovering their conception was your complete and utter
- 1:01:36devastation. Like you, you could make these
- 1:01:38same arguments, you could say the same thing.
- 1:01:40It just, it just feels like a bit of hypocrisy from Morgan
- 1:01:44here. She's shaming of the people when
- 1:01:46she's done a very similar thing herself.
- 1:01:48It's insane and I don't wanna invalidate a feeling of
- 1:01:51whatever. I know that moms do struggle
- 1:01:54with that. So I don't wanna be like, you're
- 1:01:56horrible for thinking that, but you are wild to say that out
- 1:01:59loud on national television. Like, that's something you need
- 1:02:04to like, go talk to your friends about.
- 1:02:06But anyways, I'll have to say. Again, Morgan, you, you can't
- 1:02:09sit there all shocked and be like, don't say that.
- 1:02:11That's crazy in you with all this stuff, when we've seen all
- 1:02:15the stuff that you and Paul have posted online over the years in
- 1:02:18the name of being what you would describe as real and raw.
- 1:02:21All your arguments, your tears, you're just pure misery all the
- 1:02:25time. Like for you to be shocked at
- 1:02:27other people posting stuff online and be like, you can't
- 1:02:29say they're this crazy, but like with what you're posting, it
- 1:02:32just feels a bit hypocritical, you know, I don't, it's like she
- 1:02:36lacks a lot of self-awareness. I don't know, I.
- 1:02:38Feel like that's just sad for those people who have those
- 1:02:40beliefs and like what a sad life you have clearly had to get to
- 1:02:45where you're at now. Again, do you realise people say
- 1:02:48that about you and and she gets so mad when people say that
- 1:02:51about her and yet she's here saying about other people.
- 1:02:53I just, I don't know, annoys me a bit.
- 1:02:57If you have the ability to get on your phone and record a video
- 1:03:01about that, your life is not as bad as what you're talking
- 1:03:05about. We're not as in dire straits as
- 1:03:07what you think is going on. That's.
- 1:03:09True. What a terrible terrible,
- 1:03:15terrible take. This reminds me a lot of the
- 1:03:17people who say things to me like why you a feminist?
- 1:03:20What needs to you not have as an individual right now when my
- 1:03:24overall ideology of feminism is not based on my individual needs
- 1:03:29but on what I think is best for people as a whole.
- 1:03:31Like I speak out about things like FGM and trans rights and
- 1:03:35having access to abortion, not because those things affect me
- 1:03:38personally, but because I think calling out and standing up for
- 1:03:42those things respectively will make the quality of life better
- 1:03:46for people, will make the quality of life better for
- 1:03:48people overall. I don't see how a person being
- 1:03:51allowed a public platform to say, hey, we're destroying our
- 1:03:54planet right now means we're not actually destroying our planet.
- 1:03:57Like, that's a silly, silly thing to say.
- 1:04:00And then the video or podcast ends with at least a minute of
- 1:04:03discussion about how their personal vaginas look.
- 1:04:06I'm not even joking. I am all for comprehensive sex
- 1:04:09education, but their particular vaginas are not something I wish
- 1:04:12to discuss in detail. So let's just end the video
- 1:04:15here. Thank you for watching today.
- 1:04:18I really hope you enjoyed this as something a little bit
- 1:04:20lighter and less in depth and sillier than normal and like
- 1:04:23less low stakes and so on. It's been, it's been quite fun.
- 1:04:26I am going to make responses to the other two podcasts because
- 1:04:29like I say, they're just kind of interesting to me at the minute
- 1:04:32and I hope you guys will enjoy watching them.
- 1:04:36Sorry I'm a little scruffy and messy at the minute.
- 1:04:38My hair is literally like straight out the bath still not
- 1:04:41even completely dry yet, and I am in desperate need of dyeing
- 1:04:44my hair and having a haircut. But life has been absolutely
- 1:04:48crazy right now. I think you all kind of know and
- 1:04:51have been, well, not if you're new here, you might not.
- 1:04:54But for those of you who've been following me for a long time, I
- 1:04:57just dealt with my dog being quite, quite severely I'll for
- 1:05:00several months and having a lot of seizures and having to deal
- 1:05:04with a lot of medication and the side effects of that.
- 1:05:06And I suddenly lost her in February and it was the most
- 1:05:11devastating loss of my life. So I've gone from dealing with
- 1:05:15that to moving house to now trying to buy a house.
- 1:05:17And it's just, there's a lot going on in my life right now.
- 1:05:20So basic things like taking care of myself in terms of getting a
- 1:05:24haircut and keeping it dyed have just gone out of the window
- 1:05:27temporarily. But I'm starting to sort myself
- 1:05:30out again and I'm coming around and yeah, things are getting
- 1:05:34slowly back on track. But for now, I just want to say
- 1:05:36thank you to everyone who has watched this video and who has
- 1:05:38supported me through these last few months that have been
- 1:05:40really, really difficult. I do appreciate you and your
- 1:05:42time so, so much and I really hope you enjoyed this video.
- 1:05:45If you want to see more from me, I do have a second channel where
- 1:05:48I have been catching up posting some of my reading wrap UPS
- 1:05:51every month, which is where I talk about what books I've read
- 1:05:53in the month and which ones I really liked and a couple that I
- 1:05:55didn't like. Mostly though, I've read some
- 1:05:57really, really good stuff this year, really enjoying it.
- 1:05:59So you can go and watch them from my second channel.
- 1:06:02I've also posted some fun bits of things I was doing to kind of
- 1:06:04like distract myself, like going to shows and sings and live
- 1:06:07music. And I got some photos and videos
- 1:06:10in like little vloggy style bits for you over there.
- 1:06:13And I'm also going to be last night, I found like around like
- 1:06:1924 hours ago now, you might see some of my videos.
- 1:06:22I've spoken a lot about Freedom McFadden lately and her books.
- 1:06:25And I went to her old blogs and spoke a lot about some of her
- 1:06:28viewpoints and stuff. And then last night, Freedom
- 1:06:32McFadden came out and revealed her real name as Doctor Sarah
- 1:06:37Cohen, Sarah Eileen Cohen. And I was like, oh, Oh my God,
- 1:06:41she's finally like revealed her true identity.
- 1:06:43She's not hiding behind a pseudonym anymore.
- 1:06:45And then I was like, okay, let me just like do a little Google.
- 1:06:48And I found she had a whole series of not exactly blog
- 1:06:53posts, but like articles and opinion posts and stuff that
- 1:06:56she'd written for a website for medical professionals.
- 1:07:00But I ended up reading through like a whole bunch of her posts.
- 1:07:02And I was like, this is so fascinating because so many of
- 1:07:05these things she was writing under her real name on this
- 1:07:08professional medical website for doctors and other medical
- 1:07:11professionals. We're on the same topics as she
- 1:07:13was talking about on her private blog under the name Doctor Fizzy
- 1:07:16and Freda McFadden. And she was writing about these
- 1:07:18same issues at the same time, but in completely different
- 1:07:21ways. So I'm considering just now
- 1:07:25filming a very quick video about that for the second channel
- 1:07:28because fascinating. I feel as an autistic woman, I
- 1:07:31get quite like, I get a little bit obsessed with things
- 1:07:34sometimes when I find it interesting.
- 1:07:35I'm like, I need to find out everything about this.
- 1:07:37And I, I do a lot of research and reading and get really
- 1:07:39involved in it. And at the minute my special
- 1:07:41interest seems to be freedom at Fathom for some reason.
- 1:07:44I don't know why. I just find her fascinating as a
- 1:07:47as a being. So.
- 1:07:49If you want to see that over my second channel, I think I'm
- 1:07:52going to film a little thing now.
- 1:07:53It won't be very in depth, I'll just kind of talk about it
- 1:07:55vaguely. But yeah, crazy.
- 1:07:57Anyway, thank you for watching and if you'd like to spot me and
- 1:08:01my channel, I do have a little bit of merch available.
- 1:08:04I do have some photography and art prints available on my
- 1:08:06website. If you are interested in any of
- 1:08:08them, I have Patreon. And if you just want to kind of
- 1:08:12keep up with me and my life and all of that fun stuff, I do have
- 1:08:16an Instagram account. We can go follow me where I post
- 1:08:18lots of things like nature photos.
- 1:08:20I do lots of live music photography, so I tend to post
- 1:08:22that. And I also just post little
- 1:08:23things like makeup posts and photos of my friends.
- 1:08:25And it's just just a personal little Instagram account.
- 1:08:28And I also post all my stories when I release new videos.
- 1:08:31So you can make sure you keep up to date over there if you want.
- 1:08:34Anyway, this was a long outro, but thank you for watching.
- 1:08:36I appreciate you guys and I'll see you again soon.
- 1:08:39Let me know down in the comments what you thought of this.
- 1:08:41And yeah, crazy wasn't it?
