- 0:33Speaker 2: Unpredictable Star Trek Podcast. Uh. Today on the show, we
- 0:37Speaker 2: are going to be reviewing they cloned Tyrone. That's all right,
- 0:42Speaker 2: plus at pop Culture News and your listener feedback. I'm
- 0:46Speaker 2: Scott Boucher's and now with a fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes.
- 0:52Speaker 2: It's Daniel Reyes.
- 0:54Speaker 3: I don't know if I got one hundred percent want
- 0:56Speaker 3: any of those my friend.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Oh man, I doing buddy, I'm just I'm peachy. I'm peachy.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Yeah. I can't wait to talk about this movie.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Oh gonna be fun.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it'll be quite the time. Yeah, yeah, absolutely,
- 1:13Speaker 3: Uh yeah man. How's your week been anything?
- 1:16Speaker 2: New Week's been good. It's been really hot. It's been
- 1:19Speaker 2: in the nineties. It's been uh humid doesn't seem to
- 1:23Speaker 2: be the word to cover it. It's been wet, not rainy,
- 1:26Speaker 2: it's just been wet. So yeah, really really hot. But
- 1:33Speaker 2: otherwise doing good, doing good.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Yeah, next few days we have one of those heat trends.
- 1:40Speaker 3: So yeah, so we'll see what happens. But I'm all nervous, man,
- 1:45Speaker 3: Tomorrow's the day.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Tomorrow's the day for for my contest. Yeah oh wow,
- 1:50Speaker 2: yeah yeah yeah.
- 1:52Speaker 3: S haven't really explained it on the show, but this
- 1:54Speaker 3: is a pretty big contest. I The way it works
- 1:58Speaker 3: is it's a year long contest, but every month they
- 2:01Speaker 3: do one winner for that month, right, and then at
- 2:04Speaker 3: the end of the year, the twelve winners throughout the
- 2:07Speaker 3: year compete for a grand prize. And so I'm in
- 2:11Speaker 3: the grand prize round.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Wow.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I just have to beat eleven other people. Okay,
- 2:17Speaker 3: so we'll see.
- 2:19Speaker 2: But yeah, well we all have our fingers crossed.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah. I was telling my my dad last night.
- 2:27Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm either going to be really happy on
- 2:29Speaker 3: Monday or really bummed out. Oh boy, yeah, I mean
- 2:36Speaker 3: I I this is the one saving grace I have
- 2:40Speaker 3: about it is I have worked very hard on it.
- 2:43Speaker 3: I've worked with professionals on it. I I'm at peace
- 2:47Speaker 3: if I don't win. Yeah, I don't think I could
- 2:51Speaker 3: have done anything more.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Well, there's nothing else you could ask for of yourself,
- 2:55Speaker 2: right right?
- 2:56Speaker 3: So yeah, yeah, so that's the one saving grace I
- 2:59Speaker 3: have about it.
- 3:00Speaker 2: But well, well, good luck to you. I'm sure I
- 3:02Speaker 2: speak for everybody who's listening, you know when I say luck,
- 3:04Speaker 2: and so you'll have to give us, give us.
- 3:09Speaker 3: There won't be a show next week because I'll be.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Oh no, well, this is not gonna be next week
- 3:15Speaker 2: because for the July weekend. Yeah, so so yeah, to
- 3:22Speaker 2: let everybody know, next week is fourth of July weekend,
- 3:26Speaker 2: So we're not gonna.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Show next week, and then the week after that we
- 3:30Speaker 3: will come back for our Strange New World's Prediction show.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Yes, yes, and the week after that also, the week
- 3:37Speaker 2: after fourth Fuly weekend is the Capital City Comic Con
- 3:40Speaker 2: and Lansing. Yeah, I am going to be going to that.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Garrett Wong and some Kim's going to be there, so
- 3:47Speaker 2: I'm gonna I'm gonna represent Trek Cast.
- 3:49Speaker 3: And is your buddy Robbie going to be there?
- 3:53Speaker 2: I don't know, unfortunately Robbie Robert duncan McNeil for all
- 3:58Speaker 2: that's right, Uh, he's not gonna be there, but yeah,
- 4:01Speaker 2: and and some Kim is gonna be there, So I'm
- 4:03Speaker 2: gonna I'm gonna do my I'm gonna do my thing.
- 4:05Speaker 2: I'm gonna ask him the hard hitting questions. I'm gonna
- 4:08Speaker 2: represent trek.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Cast and what a what question are you gonna ask him?
- 4:11Speaker 2: Maybe maybe a little bit of gotcha journalism? I mean, I,
- 4:16Speaker 2: you know, I I took a poll on trek Cast
- 4:17Speaker 2: and we had thousands of people submit their questions ask
- 4:21Speaker 2: for uh, you know uh and some KIM and I'm
- 4:25Speaker 2: gonna ignore all of them and ask the same question
- 4:26Speaker 2: I always ask everybody. I'm gonna ask him who's the
- 4:30Speaker 2: best cook?
- 4:31Speaker 3: There you go, So, there you go. I like it.
- 4:34Speaker 3: I like it.
- 4:36Speaker 2: It's gotten a great response from every star.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Trek It's pretty good, right because it's pretty universe.
- 4:41Speaker 2: It always it always works, and it was your idea.
- 4:43Speaker 2: It was your idea, so that that's fantastic. It's always
- 4:46Speaker 2: got a laugh, It always a lot, they know. It
- 4:52Speaker 2: always produces some really good conversation and a really good response.
- 4:56Speaker 2: So I like it.
- 4:57Speaker 3: I like it. Awesome. Well, let's h let's get to
- 5:00Speaker 3: the entertainment news since it's a supplemental this week. Yeah, yeah,
- 5:05Speaker 3: so we'll do some entertainment news, right. So our first
- 5:13Speaker 3: news story comes to us from Variety, and I thought
- 5:16Speaker 3: we'd want to talk about this, but apparently there is
- 5:19Speaker 3: now a shortlist for the Next James Bond. It was
- 5:23Speaker 3: announced earlier this week that Denny Velenu, the guy who
- 5:27Speaker 3: directed the Dune movies, will be directing the name next
- 5:31Speaker 3: James Bond, and apparently he's got a short list of
- 5:34Speaker 3: who his dream James Bonds are. It's either going to
- 5:37Speaker 3: be Jacob Aldry, Tom Holland or Harris Dickinson. That's the
- 5:45Speaker 3: three guys in order. So there's Jacob, there's Tom, and
- 5:49Speaker 3: there's Harris.
- 5:50Speaker 2: I've never heard of Jake, I've never heard of Harry.
- 5:55Speaker 2: I love Tom Holland and I've seen him in a
- 5:57Speaker 2: couple of films that wasn't Spider Man based, right, you know? Yeah,
- 6:03Speaker 2: I I don't like Tom Holland for James Bond.
- 6:08Speaker 3: I don't either man.
- 6:09Speaker 2: He because he doesn't he and I okay, because he
- 6:14Speaker 2: doesn't look gritty enough, Not that Tom Holland doesn't have grit,
- 6:18Speaker 2: but I don't he looks gritty enough, right whatever.
- 6:22Speaker 3: I don't want to be sitting there thinking why doesn't
- 6:24Speaker 3: James Bond just web them up?
- 6:27Speaker 2: Right exactly? Yeah, Yeah, James Bond is gonna have a
- 6:31Speaker 2: spidy sense.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Yeah, he dies, he's making out with some girl and
- 6:36Speaker 3: You're like, that's not Zendia.
- 6:38Speaker 2: You know. I a lot of fans that I saw
- 6:41Speaker 2: online wanted to see and there was some talk about
- 6:44Speaker 2: it Henry cavill.
- 6:46Speaker 3: And I thought that's.
- 6:48Speaker 2: A great you know. I mean, yeah, he's got a
- 6:52Speaker 2: little bit, he's gritty, so okay, whatever.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Yeah, So I don't know. I mean, I don't know
- 6:59Speaker 3: about the other guy guys. I mean, if I'm going
- 7:01Speaker 3: based off of looks, I think Harry kind of pulls
- 7:04Speaker 3: it off the closes. Like in the books, James Bond
- 7:08Speaker 3: is not like a good looking guy.
- 7:09Speaker 2: He's just plain right right.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Yeah, so that could work, but whatever, We'll see what happens.
- 7:18Speaker 3: I'm just hoping with Delie Danny Delvanue, they do the
- 7:23Speaker 3: the Dune like that that loud hi wherever that. Yeah,
- 7:29Speaker 3: every time we shoot somebody, just do that kind of active.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Dune's one of those things, you know that everybody loved Dune.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Everybody loved Dune, and I I fell asleep.
- 7:42Speaker 3: I didn't love it and I didn't hate it. I
- 7:43Speaker 3: was just like, it's fine.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I I have no I saw the first movie.
- 7:49Speaker 2: I have no desire to see the anything else.
- 7:52Speaker 3: I just you know, whatever, Yeah, all right, So we'll
- 7:56Speaker 3: see when we get the casting. But that's that's that.
- 7:59Speaker 3: James on News, all right. Our next story comes to
- 8:02Speaker 3: us from Deadline. I thought, you know, with our age group,
- 8:06Speaker 3: this would be fun to talk about. And in Deadline,
- 8:10Speaker 3: a Very Young Frankenstein series from mel Brooks is in
- 8:14Speaker 3: the works. It's gonna be produced by the same producers
- 8:18Speaker 3: from the What We Do in the Shadows team and
- 8:21Speaker 3: they're nearing a pilot at FX. So yes, so we
- 8:27Speaker 3: don't know much about it. We don't know that this
- 8:29Speaker 3: would be a reboot, a prequel. Is it going to
- 8:33Speaker 3: be you know, in line with the old classic movie.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Is it going to be completely new universe? We don't know, right, Okay,
- 8:42Speaker 3: we don't know if they're gonna get a really young
- 8:45Speaker 3: guy and it's doctor Frankenstein's you know, journeys before the movie.
- 8:52Speaker 3: We don't know. It's called it Very Young Frankenstein.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Frankenstein you know, I I yeah, I grew up, of
- 8:58Speaker 2: course watching Young Frankenstein and it was you know, I
- 9:01Speaker 2: remember watching over and over and over at VH. Yeah. Yeah,
- 9:05Speaker 2: you know, mel Brooks is h I'm a fan. He's
- 9:09Speaker 2: Happy Birthday in mel Brooks. He just turned ninety nine.
- 9:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:14Speaker 2: So yeah, he's still still getting and he's still work. Yeah,
- 9:19Speaker 2: he's still working. He's still doing a sing Yeah, baseballs too.
- 9:22Speaker 2: There's a lot of a lot of hoop about that.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Gene Wilder was great in this. Uh yeah, yeah, I
- 9:31Speaker 2: wouldn't mind seeing seeing what they come up with.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm I'm excited to see it. I don't know
- 9:36Speaker 3: if you ever watched the What We Do in Shadows series?
- 9:41Speaker 2: No, I didn't see in the movie.
- 9:43Speaker 3: The movie is hilarious, Like, oh my god, I've never
- 9:45Speaker 3: laughed harder at a movie than What We Do in Shadows. Yeah,
- 9:50Speaker 3: but but they they did a show based off of it.
- 9:53Speaker 3: I've seen a few episodes. That show is great. Man,
- 9:56Speaker 3: it's like a documentary series about vampires.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I've heard of it. I've heard of it.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Yeah, it's pretty great. It's pretty great. So there you go. Deadline.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Uh so, we don't know yet if they if they'll
- 10:11Speaker 3: do a pilot yet. There's still in the in the
- 10:13Speaker 3: development stage, which is the fact that this is out there.
- 10:16Speaker 3: They're definitely trying to build up steam for it. So cool.
- 10:19Speaker 2: You know what I need to do. I need to
- 10:21Speaker 2: I need to go and I was gonna say, go back,
- 10:24Speaker 2: but I haven't seen a ton of mel Brooks movies.
- 10:28Speaker 2: In fact, I don't know if I've ever seen Spaceballs
- 10:31Speaker 2: all the way through what Yeah, I I If I have,
- 10:35Speaker 2: it was decades ago. Okay, So I need to go
- 10:39Speaker 2: back and watch watch some old you know mel Brooks
- 10:42Speaker 2: and Jean Gene Wilder and yeah, some of those older
- 10:46Speaker 2: movies because some of them slipped under the radar for
- 10:49Speaker 2: me when I was younger, because these movies came a
- 10:52Speaker 2: lot of these movies came out in the eighties, right right,
- 10:55Speaker 2: and I saw these movies. The only way I would
- 10:57Speaker 2: see these movies is if my my aunt would record
- 11:01Speaker 2: them when she had HBO and she recorded on VHS,
- 11:04Speaker 2: and she'd record like three movies on one VHS tape,
- 11:08Speaker 2: you know, recorded on like EP mode and stretched out
- 11:11Speaker 2: onto one VHS tape and then give me the VHS
- 11:14Speaker 2: tape every time I saw her, So like once a month,
- 11:17Speaker 2: I'd get a new VHS tape with like three very
- 11:20Speaker 2: low quality movies. And they came out HBO fair enough, so,
- 11:26Speaker 2: and Young Frankenstein was one of those movies.
- 11:29Speaker 3: All right, Well, we'll do a couple quick stories, real quick.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Our next story comes to us from people dot Com.
- 11:37Speaker 3: I just saw this today and I thought it was
- 11:38Speaker 3: kind of nice. But starting next year, the Nachelle Nichols
- 11:43Speaker 3: Space Camp for Teen Girls is set to open. This
- 11:46Speaker 3: will be in Huntspill, Alabama. It is going to be
- 11:50Speaker 3: for teen girls. I believe the ages are fourteen to eighteen,
- 11:55Speaker 3: and it is designed to break barriers for women and
- 11:59Speaker 3: into the space program. So I didn't see anything about
- 12:04Speaker 3: like scholarships or what the plan is, but it is
- 12:09Speaker 3: it is designed for this to inspire women to get
- 12:12Speaker 3: into into STEM. I guess is what they call it. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 12:16Speaker 3: So I think it was amazing.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's that's great. That's great. I love programs
- 12:21Speaker 2: like this, and yeah, me too excited about space and
- 12:24Speaker 2: science and STEM and all that. You know.
- 12:26Speaker 3: Yeah. So I figure for people out there that's got
- 12:29Speaker 3: daughters or or you know, relatives that are young or whatever,
- 12:32Speaker 3: it's a ndsonal thing and it'll be starting next year.
- 12:35Speaker 3: So that's great.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Yeah, and I love stuff that that focuses on like,
- 12:38Speaker 2: you know, this is focusing on on young girls because
- 12:41Speaker 2: it's a demographic that historically a much lower percentage got
- 12:46Speaker 2: into these types of you know, I would imagine even now,
- 12:49Speaker 2: even in the twenty twenty five, the percentage of people
- 12:53Speaker 2: that work at NASA are it's got to be it's
- 12:56Speaker 2: got to be over fifty percent male.
- 12:58Speaker 3: I mean, does that count all the aliens they have
- 13:01Speaker 3: in Area fifty one or well.
- 13:03Speaker 2: I guess because that's for other alien cultures, it might be. Yeah,
- 13:08Speaker 2: it's like that that episode of the Next Generation Angel
- 13:11Speaker 2: or Angel one where it was predominantly female. So yeah,
- 13:14Speaker 2: you know, there could be a situation where the little
- 13:17Speaker 2: green aliens are and.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Then the robots that we don't know about.
- 13:20Speaker 2: You know, well, if it's a fembot dominated society, and
- 13:24Speaker 2: as you know, then we need little teenage you know,
- 13:26Speaker 2: the teenage boys need a role model for to get
- 13:30Speaker 2: in the space program.
- 13:31Speaker 3: That's right, that's right, for all those fembots in space,
- 13:34Speaker 3: that's right, all right? And then our last news story,
- 13:38Speaker 3: I thought this was just crazy, so I had to
- 13:40Speaker 3: share it. Let's see who is this from? From Hindustan Times.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Uh.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Actor William Shatner surprises fans with losing fifty pounds at
- 13:53Speaker 3: ninety four years old. Wow, yeah, would you honestly, if
- 13:58Speaker 3: you're ninety four, are you really trying at that point.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Well, at ninety four, you don't want to like mess
- 14:05Speaker 2: with the equilibrium of your system. Don't change anything. You know,
- 14:08Speaker 2: it's like going to the doctor at ninety four and
- 14:10Speaker 2: you're drinking and you're smoking and you're eating crap.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:13Speaker 2: If I was a doctor, I'd be like, don't don't
- 14:15Speaker 2: change anything, Yeah, because I think the sudden shift in
- 14:21Speaker 2: your system would be more detrimentally.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Well, he said that he got over three hundred pounds
- 14:28Speaker 3: and he had had hip replacement surgery, so it was
- 14:30Speaker 3: getting tougher to move, so.
- 14:32Speaker 2: He needed to carry the weight.
- 14:33Speaker 3: So he did it and he feels a lot better.
- 14:37Speaker 3: He also says he's more active now than he used
- 14:39Speaker 3: to be, which is crazy because it's always more cry
- 14:43Speaker 3: more yea four. Yeah, I feel a shame now. I
- 14:48Speaker 3: was gonna say, I.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Hope in my mid seventies' I'm what he's at at
- 14:54Speaker 2: ninety four.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Yeah, because, like we were just talking last week, he
- 14:59Speaker 3: was doing a show with Doctor Tyson out in Seattle,
- 15:02Speaker 3: like traveling, like doing shows at ninety four.
- 15:08Speaker 2: I want to be him in my mid seventies. I
- 15:10Speaker 2: want to be a beloved former sci fi star.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Yeah, And apparently for those of you who are wondering,
- 15:16Speaker 3: you know, how do you lose weight at an advanced stage,
- 15:18Speaker 3: because that's crazy. He says. He reportedly eats fruit and
- 15:22Speaker 3: tea for dinner, and he stays away from heavy meals.
- 15:26Speaker 3: So there you go. Well lose his food as fuel,
- 15:29Speaker 3: not comfort, he says.
- 15:31Speaker 2: That's kind of how I yeah, not heavy meals. I
- 15:34Speaker 2: mean it's it was a calory thing. That's how I
- 15:36Speaker 2: lost thirty pounds in six months. I just stopped. I
- 15:39Speaker 2: stopped eating as much. Yeah, it wasn't a super secret
- 15:44Speaker 2: you know eat Yeah, that's it. That that was it. Yeah,
- 15:48Speaker 2: eat less, du more so, which is what he's doing.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Good on him, Good on him. I mean, say what
- 15:54Speaker 2: you will about William Shatner, and many people have many
- 15:57Speaker 2: people out, but yeah, good on him.
- 15:59Speaker 3: Four Yeah a wait, that's crazy.
- 16:02Speaker 2: So he's definitely a role model for certain aspects.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Yes, yes, people are messy. There's good sides, there's bad sides,
- 16:10Speaker 3: but this is good. So great for him. All right,
- 16:14Speaker 3: And that's all the entertainment news. So yeah, you're ready
- 16:19Speaker 3: to go into the uh spotlight?
- 16:22Speaker 2: Talk about the Yeah, I have a feeling of about death.
- 16:27Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, we'll see we'll see what happens.
- 16:29Speaker 3: All right, let's get into the spotlight. All right. So
- 16:38Speaker 3: we are talking about a Netflix film called Day Clone Tyrone.
- 16:42Speaker 3: For those of you who are not familiar with it,
- 16:44Speaker 3: it's been on Netflix for a couple of years. Currently
- 16:47Speaker 3: stands at a ninety five critics score on Netflix. It
- 16:52Speaker 3: is a film starring John Boyega and Jamie Fox. There
- 16:56Speaker 3: are also appearances by David Allen Greer and keep for Sutherland. Surprisingly,
- 17:03Speaker 3: that was a random that was very random. It is
- 17:08Speaker 3: labeled a sci fi comedy mystery. The premise is kind
- 17:16Speaker 3: of weird. Basically, a drug dealer who is played by
- 17:20Speaker 3: John Boyega gets shot and killed as he's doing his
- 17:24Speaker 3: criminal acts, and then he wakes next day, doesn't remember
- 17:29Speaker 3: the murder, and everyone is like, why are you back?
- 17:33Speaker 3: You were killed? And from there we get the whole
- 17:37Speaker 3: mystery about who clones Tyrone.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it was Uh. It turned out to be
- 17:46Speaker 2: an organization on a planet called Camino.
- 17:50Speaker 3: That's right, That's right.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Where they produced all the Clone troopers.
- 17:55Speaker 3: It's weird because all the Clones say hello.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Then yeah exactly, Yeah, I love John in this movie.
- 18:02Speaker 2: He played Finn in in Star Wars.
- 18:06Speaker 4: Uh.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Trilogy.
- 18:08Speaker 3: That's Phantom Menace.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Yeah, the sequel trilogy. That's right, that's right trilogy. This
- 18:18Speaker 2: had a fantastic cast. I loved everybody. When I what
- 18:22Speaker 2: what when David Allen Greer showed up, I'm like, oh,
- 18:25Speaker 2: there's David Allen g Yeah.
- 18:27Speaker 3: Yeah. I thought Jamie Box was great in it. Oh.
- 18:31Speaker 2: I love Jamie Fox great. Who played oh the the
- 18:39Speaker 2: woman who played Monica rambo In in uh in the
- 18:43Speaker 2: Marvel Universe.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Oh that's right.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Yeah, she played yo yo.
- 18:48Speaker 3: She's the Lady of the Night.
- 18:50Speaker 2: And I loved it because I didn't realize it was
- 18:52Speaker 2: her until most of the way through the movie, and
- 18:56Speaker 2: I'm like, who is that? And I had to look
- 18:58Speaker 2: it up. I'm like, oh, okay, so okay, definitely a
- 19:02Speaker 2: dynamic actor.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Do you want to read your text that you sent
- 19:05Speaker 3: me after watching this movie?
- 19:07Speaker 2: Yes?
- 19:08Speaker 3: We can. Yeah, I think I think that's a great
- 19:12Speaker 3: way to start the film.
- 19:15Speaker 2: I think, absolutely, absolutely right.
- 19:17Speaker 3: Yeah, this is you.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Guys.
- 19:20Speaker 3: Have to remember when I suggested this movie, I had
- 19:23Speaker 3: never seen it. I only knew that it had a
- 19:26Speaker 3: high score and that it had these great actors in it,
- 19:29Speaker 3: so I had been wanting to see it. We needed
- 19:32Speaker 3: an idea for the show. So that's why I suggested it.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Yep.
- 19:37Speaker 3: And then Scott beat me to it, and yeah, so
- 19:42Speaker 3: he yeah, he.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Texted me and I he said this just got on
- 19:47Speaker 2: Rotten Tomatoes and I said, okay, cool, I'm down. And
- 19:50Speaker 2: uh so I watched the movie and this was the
- 19:54Speaker 2: text that I set Lombardo. If you can hear me,
- 19:58Speaker 2: it's a trap. Don't watch this movie. Although it has
- 20:01Speaker 2: a fantastic cast, it sucks harder than a cougar at
- 20:05Speaker 2: a frat house. This subpar, avant garde bullshit movie. Absconded
- 20:09Speaker 2: with nearly an hour and a half of my life
- 20:12Speaker 2: before I escaped with forty minutes left. Daniel, you were
- 20:15Speaker 2: off my Christmas card list. You know, I hate. I
- 20:21Speaker 2: do have to go on to say, you know, I
- 20:25Speaker 2: said it's not for us, and I said in my
- 20:29Speaker 2: text that I'm not gonna do this, although I'm doing
- 20:32Speaker 2: it by saying by reading it. I won't go into
- 20:34Speaker 2: a speech about how I wasn't against the black culture
- 20:37Speaker 2: aspect of the movie because I enjoyed Menace to Society
- 20:40Speaker 2: and Friday. I didn't enjoy the pacing, the writing, although
- 20:45Speaker 2: the screenplay the story was okay, or the visuals. I
- 20:49Speaker 2: did like the actors, love David Allen Green cameo, and
- 20:52Speaker 2: the main plot. It was compelling, just not enough to
- 20:54Speaker 2: compensate for the aforementioned issues to keep me to the end.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Everybody disagrees with me on this. It got a nine
- 21:04Speaker 2: on Rotten Tomatoes. That's a great and that's a critics score.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Eighty for audience, eighty three for audience. Yes, and yeah, again,
- 21:15Speaker 2: it wasn't a culture thing for me.
- 21:16Speaker 3: I know, yeah, some movies doesn't. Don't scratch your itch,
- 21:22Speaker 3: it happens.
- 21:22Speaker 2: It was a pacing thing for me. I felt like
- 21:25Speaker 2: it was spinning its wheels for a good portion of
- 21:28Speaker 2: the movie. I did go back and I did finish
- 21:32Speaker 2: the movie okay. So and it it ended kind of
- 21:36Speaker 2: the way that I thought it was going to end.
- 21:37Speaker 2: But yeah, I love I love the cast, Love the cast.
- 21:41Speaker 2: I thought that the main trio was they were great.
- 21:46Speaker 2: You know, Jamie Foxx is great. I thought, uh, John
- 21:49Speaker 2: Boyega did a fantastic job his I thought accent was
- 21:54Speaker 2: pretty good. Yeah he's a British actor, right right right.
- 22:00Speaker 2: And this place takes place in Chicago.
- 22:03Speaker 3: They call it the Glen So I think it's supposed
- 22:06Speaker 3: to be some sort of mid.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Mid Midwestern okay, so yeah, maybe the outskirts of Chicago
- 22:13Speaker 2: really crappy part of whatever town it was in. So yeah,
- 22:18Speaker 2: I I uh, you know, there were certain aspects I liked,
- 22:23Speaker 2: but just not enough to keep me engaged. I had
- 22:27Speaker 2: to turn the movie off with about forty minutes left
- 22:29Speaker 2: because I just, you know, I look over my wife
- 22:31Speaker 2: and she's saign Logs and you know.
- 22:34Speaker 3: So apparently I'm on her ship list too.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, I wrote that down. It's like you're a
- 22:40Speaker 2: desertate shitless too.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:45Speaker 2: I watched it, yeah.
- 22:47Speaker 3: And I loved it.
- 22:49Speaker 2: You loved it.
- 22:50Speaker 3: I loved it. It's not like the best movie I've
- 22:54Speaker 3: ever seen, but I thought it was pretty great.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Okay.
- 22:58Speaker 3: I remember watching the first like fifteen minutes and I'm like, okay,
- 23:01Speaker 3: well I don't what's going on? Like why? Yeah, yeah,
- 23:09Speaker 3: it seem okay, so I think part so, this movie
- 23:14Speaker 3: reminds me of another movie. I don't know if you've
- 23:16Speaker 3: ever seen it, called Sorry to Bother. You have you
- 23:21Speaker 3: heard of that film?
- 23:23Speaker 2: I've heard of it. I don't think I've ever seen it.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Okay, So that movie, it's it's about a guy who
- 23:28Speaker 3: gets a job at a like a telemarketing company. It
- 23:33Speaker 3: stars Terry crews Is in it. I forget the main
- 23:37Speaker 3: actress name, but Donnie or Danny Glovers in it as well.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Stanfield.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, so yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah that. I don't
- 23:50Speaker 3: want to say too much about that movie because it
- 23:52Speaker 3: takes a hard turn in the middle of it and
- 23:55Speaker 3: becomes like this bonkers thing, which is kind of what
- 23:58Speaker 3: happens to this movie.
- 24:00Speaker 2: You know, this movie I got a crazy cast army hands.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I might have to check that out. I
- 24:06Speaker 3: don't know if you want to, especially if you didn't
- 24:08Speaker 3: like this one.
- 24:09Speaker 2: If I didn't like this, I don't know what.
- 24:11Speaker 3: Yeah, you didn't like this, and I don't know if
- 24:13Speaker 3: you like this.
- 24:14Speaker 2: You know, I'm surprised I didn't like this because it
- 24:21Speaker 2: had for me, it had some old school Quentin Tarantino vibes.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Yeah, there's definitely some uh, some nods to like black
- 24:32Speaker 3: Expectation films. Yeah, there's nods to like nineties gangster movies
- 24:37Speaker 3: as well. There is very clearly a there's a there's
- 24:44Speaker 3: a filter in Adobe premiere that you make your movie
- 24:48Speaker 3: look grainy, and they very dumped that on the whole thing.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Yeah, it kind of reminded me a little bit of
- 24:55Speaker 2: like Jackie Brown.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Yeah, he says, uh, I just couldn't engage with it.
- 25:02Speaker 3: I was out within the first two minutes.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Oh yeah, she was after the first minute. She was
- 25:07Speaker 2: on her phone and I'm like, yeah, are you interested
- 25:09Speaker 2: in this? She's like, not really, this is not really
- 25:12Speaker 2: for me.
- 25:12Speaker 3: And I'm like, yeah, yeah, I think too. Though, because
- 25:21Speaker 3: I've been so involved with screenwriting now, one of the
- 25:24Speaker 3: things that that I look for is the themes of movies. Sure,
- 25:30Speaker 3: and and I think that this movie is supposed to
- 25:34Speaker 3: be a critique of capitalism. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I
- 25:39Speaker 3: think that's the premise of it. You know. I don't
- 25:45Speaker 3: want to get too much into the ending or anything
- 25:46Speaker 3: like that, but but I think there's some great moments
- 25:50Speaker 3: too with the characters. HM, Like, like we said, Jamie
- 25:55Speaker 3: Fox is hilarious that the whole thing, And he's got
- 25:58Speaker 3: so many funny little one liners that he just drops.
- 26:02Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I imagine they're they're improved. I don't think
- 26:06Speaker 3: I could see a writer writing every single one of
- 26:09Speaker 3: those lines.
- 26:10Speaker 2: Yeah. I In fact, I think I read somewhere where
- 26:12Speaker 2: a lot of the interactions between him and Yo Yo
- 26:15Speaker 2: were improved. Yeah, so yeah, I just uh, for me,
- 26:25Speaker 2: A big part of it was a pacing. I love
- 26:27Speaker 2: the story.
- 26:28Speaker 3: Yeah, decent.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I really liked the story. I just for me,
- 26:36Speaker 2: it just it wasn't up my Alley execution style.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Right right, And that's fine. Sometimes that happens.
- 26:41Speaker 2: And I understand too. Like, you know, you and I
- 26:45Speaker 2: watching a movie. We definitely are watching. Everything you and
- 26:48Speaker 2: I watch are being watched through two very different sets
- 26:51Speaker 2: of rise. You know, you as a screenwriter and me
- 26:55Speaker 2: is sort of you know, I'm like a dog chasing
- 26:59Speaker 2: cars or a baby looking at keys. I you know,
- 27:03Speaker 2: I just I'm not looking at it with a very
- 27:07Speaker 2: critical I I'm just like do I like it? Or
- 27:09Speaker 2: do I not like it? You know?
- 27:11Speaker 3: You know what's gonna happen as Dan's gonna watch it,
- 27:13Speaker 3: He'll be like, it's just a movie. You didn't hate it.
- 27:16Speaker 3: I give it, Like, yeah, you know.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Was this movie better than Sideways? Yes? It was?
- 27:22Speaker 3: But all right, that's the scale. Good to know.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the scale.
- 27:26Speaker 3: And that's the scale. Jesus is what was that lady
- 27:30Speaker 3: doing in the back of the car, Daniel, That's not
- 27:33Speaker 3: your business, sir, none your business. You just moved right along.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right, Yeah, keep going, keep going right. It's
- 27:41Speaker 2: kind of like it's you and I watching movies. It's
- 27:45Speaker 2: kind of like critiquing wine. Okay, Now, you might be
- 27:50Speaker 2: a wine kindoiseur. You know, you know where all the
- 27:52Speaker 2: grapes come from, and you've sampled the expensive ones and
- 27:55Speaker 2: the cheap ones, and you know that some of the
- 27:56Speaker 2: cheap ones are good and some of the expensive ones
- 27:58Speaker 2: are better, and you can detect notes of this and
- 28:01Speaker 2: that and the other. Right, And I don't know anything
- 28:04Speaker 2: about wine, but I know what I like, you know,
- 28:08Speaker 2: and so a wine, just like a movie, can be good,
- 28:11Speaker 2: it can be bad. The wine critic might hate it,
- 28:13Speaker 2: the the guy like me might love it, or vice versa.
- 28:16Speaker 2: This I'm sure this was. You know. It's it's hard
- 28:20Speaker 2: for me to give any movie a terrible, terrible score
- 28:25Speaker 2: because there's so much that goes into a movie. And
- 28:27Speaker 2: I think I've I've said this before a long time ago.
- 28:30Speaker 2: It's hard for me to give a movie less than
- 28:32Speaker 2: a five out of ten, just because there's so much
- 28:36Speaker 2: effort involved, and there was a lot of talent here,
- 28:40Speaker 2: and you know, there was a lot of you know,
- 28:44Speaker 2: the acting I thought was was pretty good. You know,
- 28:46Speaker 2: the there's a lot of there's a lot of behind
- 28:50Speaker 2: the scenes stuff that I got to give credit where
- 28:52Speaker 2: credit is due, but this, this definitely don't doesn't go
- 28:56Speaker 2: above a five out of ten for me.
- 28:58Speaker 3: Yeah, that's fine.
- 28:59Speaker 2: It was a movie, it was made. I acknowledged the
- 29:01Speaker 2: effort making that movie Bunny People behind the scenes.
- 29:05Speaker 3: But so you sound like I sound with most musicals,
- 29:10Speaker 3: Like I get there's talent there, but it's just not
- 29:11Speaker 3: for me.
- 29:12Speaker 2: It's just not for you, right.
- 29:13Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's fine. Apparently, originally Brian
- 29:20Speaker 3: Tree Henry was set to star in this. Uh he
- 29:23Speaker 3: is the guy for those of you who aren't sure.
- 29:27Speaker 3: He was in that Ryan Reynolds movie Free Guy. He
- 29:29Speaker 3: played the buddy. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, that guy. I
- 29:33Speaker 3: forget what else he's been in. But he was originally
- 29:36Speaker 3: going to be in the John Boyega role, but then
- 29:40Speaker 3: ultimately Jo got it. So yeah, which I think it's
- 29:44Speaker 3: better with with Boyega because uh, as much as I
- 29:47Speaker 3: Brian Henry, he's not that hard of a dude. He's
- 29:50Speaker 3: he's a comedy guy.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Right right, yeah, yeah. I was just gonna go over
- 29:58Speaker 2: some of the it was hard to find the rotten
- 30:00Speaker 2: of the rotten tomatoes. Yeah, I felt like I had
- 30:04Speaker 2: to back myself up a little bit, and uh, I'm
- 30:08Speaker 2: actually looking for the for the rotten. Uh. There's not
- 30:13Speaker 2: a ton uh Mike on Rotten Tomatoes. These are all
- 30:20Speaker 2: critics scores. A tyirical component is always behind the mystery
- 30:24Speaker 2: of precatious protagonists who are trying to solve but then
- 30:27Speaker 2: excus towards a thriller without renouncing what is already established.
- 30:31Speaker 2: I sort of get that too for me. Yeah, I
- 30:35Speaker 2: kind of agree in that it took a turn or
- 30:40Speaker 2: kind of early in the movie that it was weird,
- 30:43Speaker 2: you know, it took a direction that.
- 30:45Speaker 3: I Yeah, so for a little bit there. A few
- 30:49Speaker 3: years ago there was what they people were calling a
- 30:52Speaker 3: subgenre of black absurdist films. So like sorry to bother
- 30:57Speaker 3: you this movie, they kind of fall in to that camp.
- 31:01Speaker 3: There's a few others. You might even say that the
- 31:05Speaker 3: TV glows or I forget the name of the glow
- 31:07Speaker 3: of the TV. That's another one, but there's a few
- 31:11Speaker 3: of them out there.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Yeah. Owen, who's a top critic of Rotten Tomatoes. I
- 31:19Speaker 2: think he says kind of what I was thinking, you go,
- 31:23Speaker 2: simply put they clon Tyrone has a good setup, but
- 31:25Speaker 2: the film is is too sketchy and conceptual to work
- 31:28Speaker 2: as a bad dream thriller. Uh. And he goes on
- 31:31Speaker 2: to say it establishes Julie Taylor as a director of
- 31:34Speaker 2: craft and a certain audacious nerve. So and I agree
- 31:39Speaker 2: with that. Yeah, but it it I was expecting to see.
- 31:44Speaker 2: It differs in a movie that takes a turn that
- 31:46Speaker 2: I wasn't expecting, and that I was expecting there was
- 31:48Speaker 2: going to be a sci fi twist, and just by
- 31:51Speaker 2: the title, I knew what it was gonna be.
- 31:56Speaker 3: But and that was the sci fi twist, the cloning,
- 31:59Speaker 3: that was.
- 31:59Speaker 2: The sci fi twist. Well, and then the whole underground
- 32:04Speaker 2: right yeah, that kind of thing, you know why conspiracy,
- 32:08Speaker 2: and and the scale of it was sort of the
- 32:10Speaker 2: big like reveal, you know. You know.
- 32:14Speaker 3: One thing I looked up with Julie Taylor's because that's
- 32:17Speaker 3: one of the directors and writers. Uh there, because I
- 32:21Speaker 3: don't know Julie Taylor is a man or woman. I
- 32:24Speaker 3: didn't look that part up. But oh yeah, it's a guy,
- 32:27Speaker 3: says he wrote. Okay, so he's written some other films.
- 32:33Speaker 3: He wrote the cloned Tyrone, but he's kind of got
- 32:35Speaker 3: a mixed bag. He wrote Creed two for those of
- 32:38Speaker 3: you who saw that, and he also wrote Space Jam
- 32:41Speaker 3: a new Legacy, the one with Lebron.
- 32:44Speaker 2: So I haven't seen either one, although they are on
- 32:47Speaker 2: my list.
- 32:48Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, but not great.
- 32:53Speaker 2: I like Creed.
- 32:54Speaker 3: Creed was really good. Yeah, Creed two is like a
- 32:58Speaker 3: drop but still good.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Okay.
- 33:01Speaker 3: I don't know about Crede three because I never got
- 33:02Speaker 3: around to it, but nope, me neither. Yeah. Yeah, and
- 33:07Speaker 3: Space Jam I've just read terrible, terrible things about I.
- 33:11Speaker 2: I love the original one.
- 33:12Speaker 3: The original is good, but apparently the second one is
- 33:15Speaker 3: really bad.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Yeah, sometimes when they like that, they're just trying to recapture,
- 33:20Speaker 2: you know. I think Space Jam two was a money grab.
- 33:23Speaker 3: But I I feel like they should have just done
- 33:26Speaker 3: other sports like they were planning. They had tried to
- 33:31Speaker 3: do one with Tony Hawk. Okay, you were gonna do
- 33:34Speaker 3: space skate, so.
- 33:36Speaker 2: That had been fun. Yeah, that'd have been fun.
- 33:39Speaker 3: But yeah, they cloned Tyrone. You know, apparently on treck
- 33:43Speaker 3: cast it is a mixed bag. You're really gonna love
- 33:45Speaker 3: it or hate it. But I enjoyed it a lot.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I think for You've got a long way
- 33:54Speaker 2: to go to get back on my Christmas card list.
- 33:56Speaker 3: There you go, there you go. We'll watch Paddington You'll
- 33:59Speaker 3: feel much better.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, I still have to watch Paddington too. I've
- 34:04Speaker 2: seen Paddington One.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Yeah, oh, that one will change your life.
- 34:07Speaker 2: Paddington One was the oh chaost movie I've ever seen
- 34:13Speaker 2: in my life. I I I give it a solid
- 34:19Speaker 2: B minus. That was that was the it moves that ride.
- 34:26Speaker 3: Yeah, Paddington Is is Batman Begins. But Paddington Too is
- 34:31Speaker 3: the Dark Knight Rises.
- 34:32Speaker 2: Okay, oh boy, okay, that's right. Well you're putting that
- 34:37Speaker 2: up on.
- 34:39Speaker 3: And I don't want to oversell it, but it changes you.
- 34:43Speaker 2: Oh my goodness.
- 34:45Speaker 3: Yeah all right yeah. So uh yeah, apparently the Cloned
- 34:51Speaker 3: Tyrone was released in theaters, just a really small release.
- 34:56Speaker 3: It's mainly just a Netflix movie.
- 34:58Speaker 2: Good.
- 34:59Speaker 3: Yeah, so there we go. But yeah, let's have people
- 35:06Speaker 3: x up in the chat absolutely tell us, listener.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Feedback, tell us what you think.
- 35:13Speaker 3: That's right. Maybe when we're getting ready for that, we
- 35:16Speaker 3: can also tell people since we'll tell them a little
- 35:19Speaker 3: bit earlier. We're also are on social media, all the
- 35:23Speaker 3: social media's Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram threads. We're all over
- 35:30Speaker 3: this place. We also got our phone number that you
- 35:34Speaker 3: can reach us. Reach out to us at. You want
- 35:38Speaker 3: to give that the number, Scott.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, So give us a call, leave us a voicemail.
- 35:42Speaker 2: You can say anything you want to. Well, we'll play it.
- 35:46Speaker 2: So you can call us at five seven zero six
- 35:49Speaker 2: six one zero zero zero one. And that number again
- 35:53Speaker 2: is five seven zero sixty six one zero zero zero one,
- 35:58Speaker 2: and that's a that's a Google voicemail things. So nobody's
- 36:03Speaker 2: gonna pick up and answer the phone. So you just
- 36:05Speaker 2: all you gotta do is just leave a message and
- 36:07Speaker 2: we'll play it on air.
- 36:09Speaker 3: There you go. All right, Well let's get to a
- 36:11Speaker 3: listener feedback.
- 36:16Speaker 1: Listener feedback.
- 36:19Speaker 3: All right, Well, he's waiting on the line already. We
- 36:22Speaker 3: got Chaz biz. Let's bring him in there he is. Yeah, yeah,
- 36:30Speaker 3: would you think you're gonna break the tie here?
- 36:33Speaker 5: I think the pacing was too slow, Okay, I think
- 36:37Speaker 5: they needed an editor. Two hours is too long for
- 36:39Speaker 5: that movie. You should have been nice.
- 36:40Speaker 3: Yeah, that I would agree with for sure.
- 36:42Speaker 5: If that would have edited the maybe made it tighter,
- 36:46Speaker 5: maybe the pace along faster.
- 36:48Speaker 3: It should have been like an hour and forty I think.
- 36:51Speaker 2: Yeah, there you go.
- 36:52Speaker 5: That's my issue with Netflix movies that don't believe in
- 36:55Speaker 5: editors and yeah, keep filming and just leave everything in there.
- 37:01Speaker 5: And I don't know, they're kind of dull you uh yeah.
- 37:07Speaker 2: Well the Netflix movie you don't have to I don't know.
- 37:09Speaker 5: I mean, how many Netflix movies have gone back to watch?
- 37:15Speaker 3: None?
- 37:16Speaker 2: None, yeah and not I And I've seen some good
- 37:21Speaker 2: Netflix movies, yeah, but just you know, the pacing is
- 37:25Speaker 2: just they're they're long. Even even some of the movies
- 37:28Speaker 2: that I really liked, like Eola Holmes, great movie. I
- 37:33Speaker 2: only saw it once. The same thing as the sequel,
- 37:36Speaker 2: only saw it once.
- 37:38Speaker 3: Yeah, Like I watched The Old Guard and I thought
- 37:42Speaker 3: that was very okay, not great, not terrible, it was
- 37:46Speaker 3: it was just fine.
- 37:48Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 37:48Speaker 2: Yeah. And there's a Ryan Reynolds one Free Guy. That
- 37:51Speaker 2: was a Netflix movie, right.
- 37:53Speaker 3: No, that was that was out in theaters Free Guy.
- 37:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:58Speaker 5: Another one is something project you're thinking like pack in
- 38:06Speaker 5: that oh yeah, back in Time one?
- 38:07Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, yep, I remember that one. That was
- 38:11Speaker 2: a good movie. All these hot ones.
- 38:13Speaker 3: Yeah, The thing is Netflix movies. They all feel the same,
- 38:19Speaker 3: like story wise, there's reasons for that. I don't know
- 38:22Speaker 3: if I want to like blow it up and make.
- 38:24Speaker 2: It probably all the same, probably the same team of writers.
- 38:28Speaker 3: No, no, they there's there's how do I put this?
- 38:34Speaker 3: There's different formats on how to do a screenplay, and
- 38:36Speaker 3: they all use the same one. That's why they all
- 38:39Speaker 3: feel the same. Yeah.
- 38:42Speaker 5: Yeah, And my issue is, like I think they need
- 38:45Speaker 5: to show some of these movies in the movie theater.
- 38:49Speaker 3: Oh uh, Kevin Streki says, I agree, which, as was,
- 38:53Speaker 3: Netflix has an issue with allowing too much ad lib
- 38:56Speaker 3: offscript type material, which takes you out of the scene. Yeah,
- 39:00Speaker 3: it's because, yeah, it's not like a movie at a
- 39:03Speaker 3: movie theater where they're trying to, you know, get the
- 39:07Speaker 3: story out and get the movie done so they can
- 39:10Speaker 3: turn around and do another you know, ability to make money,
- 39:13Speaker 3: whereas you're you're right, if they were in a theater,
- 39:17Speaker 3: they would have that that that incentive. So because of that,
- 39:23Speaker 3: they care more about time to watch. Yes, so they
- 39:26Speaker 3: just let them whatever.
- 39:28Speaker 5: Man, That's why you see like their series go almost
- 39:31Speaker 5: the full hour then forty five like Disney, Like you
- 39:34Speaker 5: watch Star Wars show on Disney's only thirty five minutes
- 39:36Speaker 5: and ten minutes of right credits.
- 39:40Speaker 2: Right.
- 39:42Speaker 3: But Disney, I think has wisely decided that, yes, the
- 39:47Speaker 3: time watch is important because that's how they factor things,
- 39:50Speaker 3: but they rather keep the numbers smaller and actually maintain
- 39:56Speaker 3: a fuller percent of watch as opposed to like we
- 40:00Speaker 3: went on Netflix and they watched seven minutes in and
- 40:02Speaker 3: then changed to something else, but they stayed on Netflix.
- 40:05Speaker 3: So like Disney, in theory, is going more for quality
- 40:09Speaker 3: and Netflix is more going for quantity.
- 40:12Speaker 5: Just too Yeah, the quantity, I don't know. I hate
- 40:16Speaker 5: Netflix's algorithm. Like you watch something that disappears or you know,
- 40:21Speaker 5: add something, you know, see it.
- 40:24Speaker 3: My problem with it is my my whatever I was
- 40:27Speaker 3: watching thing keeps moving like further down, so it's hard
- 40:31Speaker 3: to like. Yeah, so it's like I was watching something,
- 40:34Speaker 3: I was in the middle of it.
- 40:36Speaker 5: And then you forget it because there's all this other
- 40:37Speaker 5: trap on there and you get distracted and you're like,
- 40:40Speaker 5: what was I watching?
- 40:41Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, it's.
- 40:42Speaker 5: Have to write it down the whole get a notebook
- 40:44Speaker 5: out and write it down.
- 40:46Speaker 3: Yeahah, yeah, no kidding, no kidding. Yeah, that's that's how
- 40:50Speaker 3: I am with the bear right now, I'm only watching
- 40:52Speaker 3: one episode a day, and because it stresses me out
- 40:55Speaker 3: too much. That show.
- 40:57Speaker 5: Well, remind you if you ever worked in the rest
- 41:00Speaker 5: charm as you're working in a restaurant.
- 41:02Speaker 3: So yeah, yeah, very much, I remember, so Jasmins. You
- 41:08Speaker 3: didn't say, though, would you? Did you like it? Not
- 41:11Speaker 3: like it give us one or more like.
- 41:14Speaker 5: I give a half a hand job?
- 41:17Speaker 3: So yeah, yeah, half a hand job.
- 41:23Speaker 2: Wow, we should probably explain there. In this movie there
- 41:30Speaker 2: are one of the main characters as a prostitute. Okay,
- 41:33Speaker 2: the prostitution plays a surprisingly big role, big role in
- 41:39Speaker 2: the story. It's not gratuitous there, I don't I don't
- 41:42Speaker 2: think there was any outright nudity in the in the.
- 41:45Speaker 5: No no no singing of her in the back of
- 41:47Speaker 5: the car and the risk actions going.
- 41:50Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, well they were there. There's there's a
- 41:54Speaker 2: scene where they're using they're using the prostitute to relay information,
- 42:00Speaker 2: but they know they're being watched, so they have to
- 42:02Speaker 2: pretend that they're engaged in all these different sexual acts
- 42:05Speaker 2: that they're not actually engaged in. But like, so it's great,
- 42:14Speaker 2: I'm sure, I'm We're here straight.
- 42:18Speaker 5: Oh god, that that part was funny.
- 42:21Speaker 3: So you don't see that in a movie.
- 42:24Speaker 2: Well, no, that's the first time I've seen that particular
- 42:27Speaker 2: type of set up.
- 42:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I did Horrible Bosses.
- 42:35Speaker 5: You ever seen that movie?
- 42:36Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 42:37Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, when they hired.
- 42:38Speaker 5: Jamie Fox and he's that character. Yeah, that's who Jamie
- 42:43Speaker 5: Fox played in this movie. He's the mother f and Jones.
- 42:49Speaker 5: You know, I don't want to.
- 42:53Speaker 3: What's kind of funny for me? Is I guess because
- 42:56Speaker 3: I put in the algorithm they cloned my own and
- 42:59Speaker 3: Jamie Fox is a attached to that. I've been getting
- 43:02Speaker 3: a lot of Django clips on my on my feeds
- 43:06Speaker 3: lately and I've been watching them. So to see Jamie
- 43:09Speaker 3: Fox go from Django being a badass to Slick Charles,
- 43:14Speaker 3: the the most cartoonish pimp you've ever seen it, It's
- 43:20Speaker 3: pretty funny to watch the dude go back and forth.
- 43:24Speaker 5: If you ever watched The Living Color, that guy's very talented.
- 43:27Speaker 2: Yes, he's remember that from back in the day.
- 43:31Speaker 3: And you can tell you he brought in some in
- 43:33Speaker 3: Living Color into Yeah.
- 43:38Speaker 5: Yes, if you would have bought you know, some of
- 43:41Speaker 5: the Wayans Brothers or something, that'd be great to you.
- 43:44Speaker 3: Oh, Kevin Strake if you notice a lot of the
- 43:47Speaker 3: better Netflix stuff is produced by bigger studios in association,
- 43:50Speaker 3: the original Netflix stuff falls flat fast. Uh. I would
- 43:55Speaker 3: say the only counter that I can think of is
- 43:58Speaker 3: Stranger Things. Stranger Things is pretty good.
- 44:03Speaker 5: Well, the Duffer Brothers did a good job, but the.
- 44:05Speaker 3: Strangers, Yeah, they're very talented.
- 44:07Speaker 5: And and the sad thing is this last season they're
- 44:11Speaker 5: all gonna be like mid twenties, damning.
- 44:13Speaker 3: I know.
- 44:15Speaker 5: They're They're almost gonna be older than the Harry Potter
- 44:18Speaker 5: kids at the end of Harry Potter.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:20Speaker 2: Yeah, because my family loves Stranger Things. I've I watched
- 44:25Speaker 2: it sort of, you know, over their shoulder a little bit,
- 44:29Speaker 2: so I'm sort of familiar. I haven't. I've watched a
- 44:32Speaker 2: couple of the way through and yeah, because it could
- 44:36Speaker 2: well because the last season is coming out in like
- 44:38Speaker 2: what November.
- 44:39Speaker 3: Yeah m hm. But but Kevin the Tricky is right
- 44:42Speaker 3: because I really like the U the Sandman show.
- 44:46Speaker 5: That's good.
- 44:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:47Speaker 5: Have you guys have you seen One Piece?
- 44:49Speaker 2: Daniel?
- 44:51Speaker 3: I watched the live actions, yeah, and so the live actions.
- 44:55Speaker 3: I'm not an anime guy, but I know, like, well.
- 44:58Speaker 5: I like some anime. I don't like it all, but this,
- 45:02Speaker 5: you know, I think it's really good. But the other
- 45:05Speaker 5: problem with the Netflix is they got to release these
- 45:09Speaker 5: shows yearly and not wait two to three years. Because
- 45:13Speaker 5: that one piece show came out in twenty twenty three.
- 45:16Speaker 5: Now the next season is twenty twenty six.
- 45:20Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I know another studio that's been having issues
- 45:22Speaker 2: of that too.
- 45:24Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, yeah, like three years into across the board,
- 45:28Speaker 5: it's it's every single one of them. I'm like, yeah,
- 45:31Speaker 5: put out your content.
- 45:32Speaker 3: Well, even HBO with the House of Dragons or Dragon,
- 45:36Speaker 3: yeah they related, Yeah, that might.
- 45:40Speaker 5: Be coming out in twenty twenty six or twenty twenty seven,
- 45:42Speaker 5: you know.
- 45:43Speaker 2: So see, I binge watched Game Game of Thrones last
- 45:48Speaker 2: year year before. Oh yeah yeah, and I loved it.
- 45:52Speaker 2: I couldn't get enough of it. And then I started
- 45:54Speaker 2: watching the show House of Dragon and I'm like, got
- 45:57Speaker 2: about halfway through and I'm like, yeah, I'm gonna go
- 45:59Speaker 2: on to another sport.
- 46:00Speaker 5: The problem with the House of Dragon, it's just like
- 46:02Speaker 5: if you read the book and it's just like a
- 46:06Speaker 5: history of west Rows. So this is probably maybe one
- 46:09Speaker 5: hundred pages in that book of what happened in the events.
- 46:13Speaker 5: So he didn't build up the characters and.
- 46:15Speaker 2: The shows well, and also the time jump they did.
- 46:19Speaker 2: I I started getting into it. I'm like, hey, I
- 46:20Speaker 2: like that, Uh, this main this main character, she's just
- 46:24Speaker 2: gonna play She's gonna play Supergirl. And I'm like, oh,
- 46:29Speaker 2: I just started to like her character. And then they
- 46:32Speaker 2: did a time jump and then she's gone.
- 46:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:34Speaker 5: Yeah, like the two girls are gone and they did great.
- 46:38Speaker 5: They're probably the best part of the show. And then
- 46:41Speaker 5: the people that replaced them up there, they're good and
- 46:44Speaker 5: you'll like them, but they're.
- 46:45Speaker 3: Not as I don't know, they're not the same.
- 46:47Speaker 5: Yeah, it's the same, right, Yeah, but who in there?
- 46:53Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah, and he is amazing. Best character in there.
- 46:59Speaker 3: Kevin's tree. He keeps mentioning that fu Bar is really good.
- 47:02Speaker 3: On Netflix, that's the Arnold Schwarzenegger show.
- 47:06Speaker 2: M hmm.
- 47:07Speaker 3: I haven't seen it yet, so I don't. I couldn't
- 47:09Speaker 3: say it, but I've heard. No, it's it's a show.
- 47:15Speaker 3: It's like a I don't know, Kevin Stracky. What's it about?
- 47:19Speaker 3: Tell us in the chat?
- 47:21Speaker 5: Have you seen Cinners this year? Anybody the Movie Center?
- 47:27Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 47:27Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah with with oh what's his name? Michael Michael B.
- 47:33Speaker 3: Jordan yes, I think Michael, Yeah, I know, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 47:38Speaker 3: yeah that's that.
- 47:39Speaker 5: Was a pretty Now that's a great movie.
- 47:42Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, that was a great movie.
- 47:44Speaker 5: I like that one. I like Ryan Coogler. I think
- 47:48Speaker 5: he's a great director because he directed Creed, directed Black Panther,
- 47:52Speaker 5: He's directed.
- 47:53Speaker 3: This and if you ever wanted to be you ever
- 47:56Speaker 3: want to be super depressed, watched his first movie Fruitville.
- 48:00Speaker 3: Oh yeah, it is just o god, it is a
- 48:03Speaker 3: gut punch. Yeah yeah.
- 48:06Speaker 5: I was like, great, the guy's a great director.
- 48:08Speaker 3: Yeah, he's fantastic.
- 48:10Speaker 5: Yeah, and he might get close to Oscar this year
- 48:12Speaker 5: because center's just I think it's still in the theater.
- 48:16Speaker 3: I don't know if he'll get an Oscar for it.
- 48:18Speaker 3: It'll get nominated for something or something. It'll get like
- 48:23Speaker 3: writing or Best Original something like that. He might get
- 48:26Speaker 3: like a an Oscar nomination, but I don't think he'll
- 48:28Speaker 3: win it. Yeah, but he'll get nominated.
- 48:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:33Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like it's.
- 48:35Speaker 2: I'm gonna check out far. It only has a forty
- 48:40Speaker 2: eight percent of Rotten Tomatoes, which for me, for a
- 48:42Speaker 2: comedy is a good sign because comedy is always get
- 48:44Speaker 2: destroyed at Rotten Tomatoes.
- 48:45Speaker 3: For they think it's got carry on moss in it too.
- 48:50Speaker 5: Look at the audience score too, because I usually look
- 48:54Speaker 5: at Rotten Tomatoes at the audience score, and then I'll
- 48:55Speaker 5: look at Metacritic and I'll look at the audience score.
- 48:59Speaker 5: Meta critic usually.
- 49:02Speaker 3: Kevin Strecky says, it's about a cia who finds out
- 49:05Speaker 3: his daughter is also an agent and they bear up.
- 49:09Speaker 2: Yeah, it sounds like the type of thing where I
- 49:10Speaker 2: checked my brain at the door and just enjoy the ride.
- 49:13Speaker 2: And and that's my That's my kind of movie. I
- 49:15Speaker 2: like that kind of movie. And that that makes me
- 49:18Speaker 2: think of another point. I wanted to bring up that
- 49:21Speaker 2: that kind of thing is my genre, and I I
- 49:24Speaker 2: wanted to point out for this movie that we just reviewed,
- 49:26Speaker 2: they cloned Tyrone. I the reason why I was hesitant
- 49:32Speaker 2: to give it a score and and this is sort
- 49:35Speaker 2: of one of my nitpicks for for some of the
- 49:38Speaker 2: critics on Rotten Tomatoes is this was this also was
- 49:41Speaker 2: just not my genre. I'm not a big mystery sci
- 49:47Speaker 2: fi like that. I just don't like the slow burn
- 49:53Speaker 2: kind of thing. I'm just not you know. I I'm again,
- 49:57Speaker 2: I'm like a dog chasing cars or a baby with
- 49:59Speaker 2: kid I just like the pretty lights. I don't want
- 50:02Speaker 2: to think too much about the movie when I watch
- 50:04Speaker 2: a movie for the most part, So it's not my genre,
- 50:09Speaker 2: which means, you know, it's it's like a food critic
- 50:12Speaker 2: that goes to an Italian place when he hates Italian food,
- 50:15Speaker 2: it's not really fair to the restaurant. Okay, if you
- 50:19Speaker 2: don't like Italian food, you shouldn't be too critical about
- 50:23Speaker 2: an Italian restaurant because you're already biased against it, you know.
- 50:26Speaker 2: So I'm not a big thing on the thriller, you know,
- 50:29Speaker 2: mystery type of movie. So I didn't want I don't
- 50:32Speaker 2: want to be too harsh on on this.
- 50:35Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, right, Like that's how I am with musical.
- 50:40Speaker 3: It's like they're not for me, so I don't want
- 50:42Speaker 3: to rip them apart because they're not for me.
- 50:44Speaker 2: Right. I used to hate musical and now I love them. Scott, Yeah,
- 50:52Speaker 2: I loved it. It was fantastic.
- 50:54Speaker 3: I saw I saw.
- 50:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I saw it on uh in streaming, and the
- 50:59Speaker 2: next what I'm going to see in the theater.
- 51:02Speaker 5: It's like it's just saying the first one in the
- 51:03Speaker 5: theater is great. It was one of them because I
- 51:07Speaker 5: saw the play last year, right, and that was kind
- 51:10Speaker 5: of iffy. On the play. I was like, I don't
- 51:11Speaker 5: know what the hell is going on. They're going to school,
- 51:14Speaker 5: they're doing this and that, And I watched the movie
- 51:16Speaker 5: and I'm like, okay, it makes more sense now, Welcome
- 51:20Speaker 5: to musical guest. Yeah, yeah, absolutely, Well the Academy for
- 51:27Speaker 5: It's it's ridiculous.
- 51:29Speaker 2: Watch it. It's weird, you know. Speaking of Wicked, I'm
- 51:32Speaker 2: actually I'm actually about a third of the way through
- 51:34Speaker 2: all of the Wizard of Oz books on books on tape, audiobooks,
- 51:42Speaker 2: that's what they're called.
- 51:44Speaker 3: You want to you want to blow your mind? Read
- 51:48Speaker 3: the book. The sequel to one hundred and one Dalmatians, Yeah, bonkers. Yeah, okay,
- 51:54Speaker 3: it takes a hard, hard turn and ends up aliens.
- 52:02Speaker 5: Sequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
- 52:05Speaker 3: No, no, they go to space what.
- 52:11Speaker 5: I forget who? They fight like some sort of.
- 52:13Speaker 6: Yeah, it goes the best and curious guys got their
- 52:19Speaker 6: inspiration from.
- 52:20Speaker 5: Yeah, it goes off the rails.
- 52:23Speaker 2: It's like, let's take a hard right here, boy.
- 52:26Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 52:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:28Speaker 5: There's a reason why they didn't make that into a movie,
- 52:30Speaker 5: because there's no way they can make the sequel way
- 52:34Speaker 5: out there.
- 52:35Speaker 3: So uh, all right, well I think that's uh, that's
- 52:42Speaker 3: pretty much wrapping it up if we're talking about other
- 52:46Speaker 3: movies and others. Thus, so yeah, yeah, well again guys,
- 52:50Speaker 3: no show next week for the fourth of July, and
- 52:54Speaker 3: then because I won't win my contest and I'll be
- 52:56Speaker 3: too sad.
- 52:57Speaker 6: No, I have a good feeling. I have a good
- 53:01Speaker 6: feeling about that.
- 53:02Speaker 3: No, I do too, honestly. It's just you know, just in.
- 53:06Speaker 5: Case, you know, you're a final list.
- 53:09Speaker 3: So yeah, that's a big deal.
- 53:12Speaker 2: That says something right there. Yeah, for sure, something right there,
- 53:19Speaker 2: ink and say you're idiot. So yeah, well we'll point
- 53:24Speaker 2: out tomorrow al and uh, we're super proud of you
- 53:28Speaker 2: and we're pulling for you. So good luck. So yeah,
- 53:31Speaker 2: no show next week. A week after we're gonna be
- 53:33Speaker 2: doing the Prediction show. We got the we got the
- 53:36Speaker 2: lansing the Capital City Comic Con that I'm going to
- 53:39Speaker 2: be at. If anybody's in Michigan, Uh, check it out.
- 53:43Speaker 2: Go to just Google and I'll put a link in
- 53:46Speaker 2: like the Facebook group and stuff, and I've been doing
- 53:48Speaker 2: that this week.
- 53:49Speaker 5: Let's write some questions that you can give a mister Wong.
- 53:53Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I said an email request an interview that
- 53:57Speaker 2: those usually get shot down pretty quick, especially your bigger,
- 54:00Speaker 2: bigger stars. But uh yeah, if I have an opportunity
- 54:04Speaker 2: to to ask a follow up question also in two
- 54:06Speaker 2: weeks that that, we're gonna go there, uh Saturday morning,
- 54:10Speaker 2: we're staying the night, and we might stop by their
- 54:14Speaker 2: Sunday morning as well. So I'm not exactly sure when
- 54:16Speaker 2: I'm gonna be able to the show. But the Friday
- 54:18Speaker 2: night before that, we've got tickets to go see Superman
- 54:21Speaker 2: and Imax. So that's gonna be a huge weekend.
- 54:26Speaker 5: Can we give a review on that one, like at
- 54:28Speaker 5: the end of the show, like you do your predictions
- 54:31Speaker 5: and then let's do the review at the end.
- 54:34Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, we should definitely talk about it. I'm sure.
- 54:38Speaker 5: Yeah, because you're gonna go the biggest one in the summer,
- 54:41Speaker 5: I think.
- 54:42Speaker 2: Yeah, oh by far. Yeah, I've got my tickets.
- 54:45Speaker 3: For that on Prime a couple of days early screening.
- 54:48Speaker 5: Yep, I got them Tuesday one.
- 54:50Speaker 2: Here's here's a good job marketing this one. They're pulling
- 54:53Speaker 2: out all the stops. They're spending some money. I've yeah,
- 54:59Speaker 2: every time, I every time I see something on TikTok
- 55:01Speaker 2: where there, I skip right past it. I don't want
- 55:04Speaker 2: to see anything.
- 55:05Speaker 5: Yes, I don't see Yes, I don't.
- 55:08Speaker 2: I want everything to I'm not watching any more trailers anymore.
