God spoke to me but I didn’t understand it was God, I thought it was my own idea

Sometimes I know immediately it is God speaking to me and when that has been the case I follow what HE tells me immediately. Other times I have thought this is my idea and failed to recognize it is God speaking that thought to me. Even when I miss the fact that the thought that came into my mind was from God, HE has straightened out situations, in time. Sometimes it has taken as much as 3 1/2 years for me to understand.
