- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello there, Welcome to the Nerd Palty. Hi. This is
- 0:06Speaker 1: Nick and Ostasium, lead editor and writer on mal shadow Lord,
- 0:11Speaker 1: and you're listening to Aggressive Negotiations.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Welcome to Aggressive Negotiations, the podcast in the Star Wars
- 0:24Speaker 2: Galaxy of podcasts that truly explores the deepest, darkest, and
- 0:30Speaker 2: even the brightest corners of the Star Wars galaxy. I
- 0:34Speaker 2: am one of your hosts here on the Nerd Party,
- 0:36Speaker 2: Jedi Master John Mills, and with me is my dear
- 0:40Speaker 2: friend and trusted compatriot, Jedi Master Matthew Rushing. Matt, this
- 0:45Speaker 2: is another surprise topic, and I want to know, are
- 0:49Speaker 2: you ready to bring your A game to this surprise topic?
- 0:52Speaker 1: You know, I feel like the only answer to that
- 0:56Speaker 1: is yippie.
- 0:57Speaker 2: You cannot have too many yippies, and you also can
- 1:00Speaker 2: and have too many reviews or star ratings over on
- 1:02Speaker 2: Apple Podcasts, as it turns out, So go on over
- 1:05Speaker 2: and give us a star rating and review if you
- 1:07Speaker 2: haven't already, We would really deeply appreciate it. If you
- 1:09Speaker 2: don't feel like leaving a star rating and review, that's fine.
- 1:12Speaker 2: We accept cash as well, unlike.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Yeah, Venmo, PayPal, you know all the places.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you very much. Just point you know what,
- 1:21Speaker 2: reach out on the nerd party dot com slash contact
- 1:24Speaker 2: and let us know how much you want to donate.
- 1:27Speaker 2: But all we're asking for is the star rating and review.
- 1:30Speaker 2: We think we're a great show. We would love to
- 1:32Speaker 2: get validation in some way, So Matt, I don't want
- 1:35Speaker 2: to wait too much longer. I'm actually going to give
- 1:37Speaker 2: credit where credit is due. As you know, I get
- 1:41Speaker 2: periodically active over on kesseljunkie dot com where I'm writing
- 1:46Speaker 2: my blog. It's hosted on WordPress, yes, and they have
- 1:48Speaker 2: these prompts that they throw out there every so often
- 1:52Speaker 2: where they say, oh hey, here's a question to get
- 1:55Speaker 2: you thinking about something you could write about. So the
- 1:59Speaker 2: question they was it was the other day was Okay,
- 2:04Speaker 2: Emperor Palpatine has declared that he's going to have open
- 2:09Speaker 2: elections for the next Emperor of the Galaxy. He's going
- 2:14Speaker 2: to graciously step down and he's going to let Darth
- 2:19Speaker 2: Vader run for Emperor of the galaxy. Don't ask me.
- 2:25Speaker 2: The queen is elected on Naboo, we can have elections
- 2:28Speaker 2: for emperor. Okay. Star Wars titles mean nothing, So who
- 2:35Speaker 2: would you run against Darth Vader? In an election to
- 2:41Speaker 2: run the Star Wars Galaxy's executive branch.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Hmmmm, this is a tough question. So I mean, are
- 2:51Speaker 1: are we sticking to time period like it has to
- 2:55Speaker 1: be time period specific, you know, or can it just
- 2:58Speaker 1: be anybody?
- 3:00Speaker 2: I would say that it would have to be time
- 3:03Speaker 2: period specific, of course to contemporary evader. So for instance,
- 3:08Speaker 2: mad Mathra is a valid selection, but you know, general
- 3:15Speaker 2: Hawks is not.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, I am going to blow your socks off
- 3:20Speaker 1: with this answer. Oh no, no, seriously, you're You're not
- 3:24Speaker 1: you You're not going to see this coming. This is
- 3:27Speaker 1: not going to go the way you think. Oh boy,
- 3:30Speaker 1: my answer. Mo's Kanada, No kidding?
- 3:34Speaker 2: Okay, yes, that is right.
- 3:37Speaker 1: She has lived for a thousand years, so she is
- 3:41Speaker 1: as old as Yoda. Basically, Uh, she's incredibly wise. She
- 3:47Speaker 1: obviously knows how to run an empire because she runs
- 3:51Speaker 1: this empire over on that planet. Uh Taco do Taco.
- 3:57Speaker 2: She runs in an empire over on Toxic Tues.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Taco Tuesday is a thing there, right, Okay, So I
- 4:04Speaker 1: mean you you get the you get the nerve steak
- 4:06Speaker 1: taco with the sauce on it, and like that's why
- 4:09Speaker 1: people never leave her castle anyway, look, and people from
- 4:13Speaker 1: all over the galaxy come under her banner and enjoy peace.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Like I'm saying, I'm this is I'm not winding it up.
- 4:23Speaker 1: This is not a bit Ma's Kanada.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Dang that I didn't see that one coming. That's a
- 4:29Speaker 2: really good thought, man, that's a really good thought. What
- 4:33Speaker 2: I thought. I thought by freezing out the sequel trilogy
- 4:36Speaker 2: era that uh you wow? That that that I totally
- 4:40Speaker 2: wasn't even thinking along those lines. That's that's really valid.
- 4:44Speaker 2: I could see mos Kanada. Now, the campaign is difficult
- 4:50Speaker 2: because with Vader you have a trusted right hand of
- 4:53Speaker 2: the Emperor. He's a guy who gets things done. We
- 4:56Speaker 2: got to presume this campaign is pre Death Star, right, Well,
- 5:00Speaker 2: hold on, let's let's set it. Let's set the page here.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Is this free death Star unveiled or is this post
- 5:08Speaker 2: death Star? The Emperor admit is you know, publicly admitting
- 5:11Speaker 2: he can't manage the empire the way he wanted to.
- 5:13Speaker 2: He has to retire for special projects over an exegal
- 5:18Speaker 2: and so he's having he's you know, he's stepping down.
- 5:21Speaker 2: You know, he's gonna let Darth Vader run the galaxy.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Is this is this post death Star that.
- 5:29Speaker 1: I I say it's post death Star because that makes
- 5:33Speaker 1: it more difficult for Vader, And that's like you get
- 5:36Speaker 1: a fair shot, right.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Uh.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Now, what Vader is gonna say is, you know, uh,
- 5:41Speaker 1: the Death Star was not his idea. He wanted to
- 5:44Speaker 1: go with a tie defender project from Thron. Uh that
- 5:48Speaker 1: you know, he's he's always had a soft spot for others,
- 5:52Speaker 1: you know. And of course this is before he's murdered
- 5:55Speaker 1: a bunch of his underlings and Empire strikes back, you know,
- 5:59Speaker 1: because he's was really angry, and so see, yeah, I
- 6:04Speaker 1: think that makes it more interesting. Do you agree that
- 6:06Speaker 1: that makes it like a fair fight.
- 6:08Speaker 2: And in that sense, I like the fact that we're
- 6:10Speaker 2: sticking it in post Death Star pre Empire you just
- 6:14Speaker 2: established its pre empire, yes, yes, or pre Empire strikes
- 6:17Speaker 2: back because of the fact that there is established in
- 6:22Speaker 2: the cannon three years exactly, meaning this could happen if
- 6:27Speaker 2: we wanted to, we could make this happen. Lucas Film Animation,
- 6:31Speaker 2: we make this pitch every so often. Come on, guys,
- 6:34Speaker 2: help us out here. If Robot Chicken were still alive,
- 6:37Speaker 2: this could be Oh my gosh, right, this would be
- 6:39Speaker 2: the best bit. Okay, I like rooting it in that
- 6:43Speaker 2: time period between the destruction of the Death Star and
- 6:47Speaker 2: the events of the Empire strikes back, because this is believable.
- 6:51Speaker 2: This is something that can really really work. This is
- 6:56Speaker 2: something that is like you could like Robot Chicken is
- 6:59Speaker 2: in play. All of these things are in play. What
- 7:03Speaker 2: I think really works about it is mas Kanada is there.
- 7:09Speaker 2: We know she's around Vader, Like you're saying, he can
- 7:14Speaker 2: sit there and he can say, hey, the Death Star
- 7:16Speaker 2: wasn't my bag. He can shift that over to the emperor.
- 7:20Speaker 2: If anything. I suddenly start playing with this in my
- 7:22Speaker 2: mind where it's kind of brilliant of the emperor to abdicate,
- 7:29Speaker 2: be like, look, I'm benevolent. I know I said emperor,
- 7:32Speaker 2: but there were always going to need an emperor, but
- 7:35Speaker 2: it was never supposed to be me forever. Obviously, I'm
- 7:38Speaker 2: I'm benevolent. Senator Palpatine, I didn't at all envision this.
- 7:43Speaker 2: This has gone on too long. I'm gonna step down.
- 7:46Speaker 2: He can suddenly undercut so many complaints against the Empire
- 7:49Speaker 2: by saying, look, I'm giving you a choice. I mean,
- 7:52Speaker 2: even even Cuba has elections, right, even the Soviet Union
- 7:56Speaker 2: had elections, So it's like, you know, that's just the
- 7:59Speaker 2: way it is. Kannada, though, is tough because would mos
- 8:05Speaker 2: Kanada accept the nomination?
- 8:07Speaker 1: I see?
- 8:08Speaker 2: The thing is I view it as a three party
- 8:10Speaker 2: thing I view I could view Kanada as a spoiler
- 8:14Speaker 2: coming in if not the right person ran from the
- 8:21Speaker 2: established Imperial Well, no way, the Imperial Senate's dissolved by
- 8:25Speaker 2: this point, Yeah, exactly what any of the Imperial Senator
- 8:28Speaker 2: has been or Organa is dead? Yep, mon Mathma's in exile.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Who's left that could run right? Unblemished?
- 8:40Speaker 1: See, this is the thing that makes mos Kanada work,
- 8:44Speaker 1: right because she tells Ray it's the only fight, the
- 8:49Speaker 1: fight against the dark side. And so she's been in
- 8:53Speaker 1: this fight and in some way, shape or form for
- 8:57Speaker 1: a long time, right, you know she's like and I've
- 9:00Speaker 1: been in this fight since I was six years old,
- 9:02Speaker 1: you know, Like who knows what she was doing during
- 9:06Speaker 1: the rebellion. In fact, I feel like that's a story
- 9:09Speaker 1: that we need to have told. Would be really awesome
- 9:11Speaker 1: to have Mo's Kanada in her rebel connections anyway, So
- 9:16Speaker 1: I think, again, I wasn't just saying this as a
- 9:20Speaker 1: wind up like she came to mind because she's been
- 9:24Speaker 1: around long enough, she's proven herself to be, you know,
- 9:30Speaker 1: a person who can bring people together, and yet at
- 9:33Speaker 1: the same time, she truly has the right values that
- 9:37Speaker 1: you would want to be a quote unquote emperor of
- 9:40Speaker 1: the galaxy.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Yeah, and I mean and Leah can't run because she's
- 9:44Speaker 2: part of an insurgency, so she can't legally run for
- 9:49Speaker 2: office because she's wanted for war crimes.
- 9:52Speaker 1: At this exactly.
- 9:53Speaker 2: So I like Kanada. But the thing is now it
- 9:57Speaker 2: spins my head toward Okay, I'll accept not as a
- 10:01Speaker 2: I'm not going to counter argue that. I'm not going
- 10:03Speaker 2: to throw anything out there. Like if Organa was still alive,
- 10:05Speaker 2: I'd be like, okay, I can see a three party thing,
- 10:08Speaker 2: and then the Emperor can be like, look, the vote split.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Nobody could really decide, and it's going to be me
- 10:13Speaker 2: after all you all you know wrote me in or
- 10:15Speaker 2: something like that. I think that where I then go
- 10:19Speaker 2: is an election across it, Like I think the flaw
- 10:24Speaker 2: of the question and tell me whether I'm right or not.
- 10:28Speaker 2: The flaw of the question is there's no way you
- 10:31Speaker 2: can have a galactic vote that would be impossible. That's
- 10:39Speaker 2: why the republic works, because your your vote is for
- 10:42Speaker 2: your senator on your planet to go off, and then
- 10:47Speaker 2: your senator could become the chancellor. But at the very
- 10:52Speaker 2: least your vote was local. So Palpatine can throw everything
- 10:57Speaker 2: into chaos by even proposing an election, a galactic election,
- 11:02Speaker 2: because who's going to trust that result? Who's going to
- 11:06Speaker 2: believe that that result is valid? And how on earth
- 11:09Speaker 2: would you even tally it appropriately?
- 11:12Speaker 1: Right?
- 11:13Speaker 2: Like, talk to me out of it, Like, is there
- 11:14Speaker 2: a way you could have a valid galactic scale election? Uh?
- 11:19Speaker 1: Yes? And the reason is is because you think about
- 11:23Speaker 1: the you know, the Senate is gone, right and so
- 11:30Speaker 1: and at that point all of the regional governors are
- 11:33Speaker 1: in charge, and so all votes then must be cast
- 11:39Speaker 1: on imperial voting machines where they're automatically tabulated.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Uh.
- 11:46Speaker 1: There's there's no uh you know, hard copy involved. It
- 11:51Speaker 1: would it would all be secure servers, uh for the elections.
- 11:57Speaker 1: And I think I think you can actually make this
- 12:02Speaker 1: work now. Look, I think the big question is is
- 12:06Speaker 1: do people trust that the election was fair, right, and
- 12:10Speaker 1: that the right person won, and that you know, if
- 12:12Speaker 1: Vader actually did lose to Mo's Kanada that he would
- 12:16Speaker 1: step aside. You know, that's a huge question. But you know,
- 12:23Speaker 1: I think you raising the idea. Who wouldn't take this
- 12:29Speaker 1: over the possibility of years more of civil war? You know,
- 12:34Speaker 1: I mean, if you have a chance for peace in
- 12:38Speaker 1: this way, in the sense that you know, you're allowed
- 12:41Speaker 1: to run whoever you want, and you really do get
- 12:45Speaker 1: the choice between you know, Darth Vader, you know, the
- 12:49Speaker 1: Emperor's hit man, and you know Ma's Kanada. A woman
- 12:55Speaker 1: who has you know, run a successful business empire, has
- 13:01Speaker 1: obviously been able to keep the peace between you know,
- 13:05Speaker 1: different factions that visit her empire, and it seems to
- 13:11Speaker 1: be somebody who cares about everyone involved to some level
- 13:21Speaker 1: and treats people fairly. You know, I think that this
- 13:26Speaker 1: is it really is. It's a funny idea obviously, and
- 13:29Speaker 1: we're having a good time with it, but it is
- 13:32Speaker 1: an interesting thought process to go through, like because I
- 13:35Speaker 1: do think it could happen. So, I mean, do you
- 13:37Speaker 1: feel like that there's just no because I think, like
- 13:40Speaker 1: the empires everywhere, right, they've got enough ships to be
- 13:42Speaker 1: on you know, most planets, or at least visit that planet,
- 13:47Speaker 1: you know, for election day on that planet, and even
- 13:50Speaker 1: you can't have a star destroyer or whatever, every single
- 13:53Speaker 1: planet you could have like, you know, you've got garrisons
- 13:57Speaker 1: of storm troopers everywhere, right, I've got imperial technology everywhere
- 14:02Speaker 1: by this point, So it doesn't seem that far fetched
- 14:05Speaker 1: that it would be possible to have some sort of
- 14:08Speaker 1: galactic voting process. See.
- 14:13Speaker 2: I think by that point people will have just given
- 14:16Speaker 2: up on the idea that a fair election is even possible.
- 14:20Speaker 2: I think they could conduct an election, but everybody would
- 14:23Speaker 2: be like, oh, look, you know, Vader got ninety nine
- 14:25Speaker 2: point seven percent of the vote. Yeah, of course he did.
- 14:28Speaker 2: And it would be just like in those countries where
- 14:30Speaker 2: the vote is, you know, is what it is sort
- 14:34Speaker 2: of thing, and people just go along with it because
- 14:37Speaker 2: they don't want to face the possibility, you know, like
- 14:41Speaker 2: they just accept there's nothing they can do, so they'll
- 14:44Speaker 2: just they'll let it go. I think that what it
- 14:48Speaker 2: gets to, in all honesty, you know, going back to
- 14:50Speaker 2: like a more serious look at it, is that Palpatine
- 14:53Speaker 2: makes a very strategic and important mistake in dissolving the Senate.
- 14:59Speaker 2: The Imperial Senate was a rubber stamp, but it's an
- 15:01Speaker 2: important rubber stamp. Because again, your senator is planetary. Even
- 15:08Speaker 2: if there's a problem with your election on your planet,
- 15:12Speaker 2: for your senator, for your representative, at the very least
- 15:17Speaker 2: you can tell yourself, well, the other elections must be okay,
- 15:23Speaker 2: this isn't something where the same sort of thing is
- 15:26Speaker 2: going on in every other planet. Surely it couldn't. That's impossible, right,
- 15:31Speaker 2: But instead every senator that's running, like I think it's
- 15:35Speaker 2: a more diffuse and more manageable way for Palpatine to
- 15:41Speaker 2: remain in power due to corruption because you make it
- 15:45Speaker 2: wide and not deep, and once you have it wide,
- 15:49Speaker 2: it becomes more difficult to track down every aspect, right,
- 15:53Speaker 2: Like it's a blanket as opposed to a whole. Like
- 15:57Speaker 2: a hole, I can go down, and I can I
- 15:59Speaker 2: can keep digging, and or or I can keep climbing
- 16:03Speaker 2: a mountain, whichever vertical way axis you want to go on.
- 16:06Speaker 2: But if I have something spread out over a huge area,
- 16:10Speaker 2: it's a lot tougher to get to. And so I
- 16:13Speaker 2: think this gets to the idea that like getting rid
- 16:16Speaker 2: of the regional I'm sorry, the planetary elections in favor
- 16:20Speaker 2: of regional governors who are appointed, is the problem. Like
- 16:24Speaker 2: that becomes the issue if he were, will you know,
- 16:28Speaker 2: announce an election like this silly question puts out there.
- 16:32Speaker 2: I think it's just unwieldy. It's just not the logistics wise,
- 16:36Speaker 2: it's unwieldy. In terms of people's faith in the system,
- 16:43Speaker 2: it's unwieldy. I mean, if he's a if he's announcing
- 16:48Speaker 2: this twenty years into it, who is gonna believe that
- 16:53Speaker 2: it could be anything else. My final question to you
- 16:56Speaker 2: that I would throw back is obviously, Okay, let's let's
- 16:59Speaker 2: accept that we figured out a story way to have
- 17:01Speaker 2: this happen post Star Wars, pre Empire strikes back. How
- 17:07Speaker 2: do you propose that Palpatine stays in power so he's
- 17:12Speaker 2: still emperor when the Empire strikes back shows up. Because
- 17:16Speaker 2: let's just accept that it happened, but the end result
- 17:20Speaker 2: was Palpatine is still in power.
- 17:23Speaker 1: I think one of the things that would be easy
- 17:28Speaker 1: was then to come out with the story, oh, the
- 17:32Speaker 1: election was fraudulent. You know, there was a vote tampering.
- 17:38Speaker 1: You know, mas Kanadas group was vote harvesting and an
- 17:42Speaker 1: illegal fashion on all of these planets. And I mean, look,
- 17:47Speaker 1: the funny thing is we're talking about this and it's
- 17:49Speaker 1: like yeah, we just see this happen in our world today,
- 17:52Speaker 1: you know, all over the place, no matter what country
- 17:54Speaker 1: you're in, regardless, And so it's not hard to think
- 17:58Speaker 1: of ways in which Palpatine could make up stories to
- 18:03Speaker 1: fit his predesired outcome, which is I pretended I gave
- 18:09Speaker 1: everybody fair elections, and you know we couldn't have fair elections.
- 18:14Speaker 1: This is why we can't have nice things, guys, right,
- 18:17Speaker 1: And so you know he he by doing that, like see,
- 18:22Speaker 1: this is where I think it would fit into his plan,
- 18:24Speaker 1: because the whole goal is to make himself seem like
- 18:27Speaker 1: the savior again, right right, like that he's the only answer.
- 18:33Speaker 1: And so I think that's that's the way in which
- 18:36Speaker 1: he does this. You know, he he creates the narrative
- 18:40Speaker 1: that I'm saving you from something worse.
- 18:45Speaker 2: I agree with you, but I would I would say
- 18:48Speaker 2: that he would get it to a point wherein knowing
- 18:51Speaker 2: that he would survive, he would arrange an assassination attempt
- 18:54Speaker 2: quote unquote on Vader and it would allow Vader to
- 18:59Speaker 2: stay with him. Oh, I can't abandon my trusted aid.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Look at what they've done. They tried to kill him.
- 19:07Speaker 2: I'll pull him closer to me and while we figure
- 19:10Speaker 2: this out, I'm going to remain in power just until
- 19:14Speaker 2: we can figure out how to make this rebellion go away.
- 19:18Speaker 2: I think that that angle, I think screams much more Palpatine,
- 19:23Speaker 2: much more sidious, much more scyth to arrange the fake
- 19:27Speaker 2: assassination attempt. Although I would go another step and I
- 19:31Speaker 2: would say I would have a scene in whatever we're
- 19:34Speaker 2: plotting here where we find out it's a real assassination attempt,
- 19:39Speaker 2: because it's the syth, of course, and Palpatine really tries
- 19:44Speaker 2: to take Vader out, and Vader survives, and then it's
- 19:48Speaker 2: it's that dysfunctional marriage thing again where it's like, Lord, Veada,
- 19:53Speaker 2: you survived, all right, you know, like and they're like
- 19:57Speaker 2: they go on, you're stronger than I thought you were,
- 20:00Speaker 2: or maybe you will be able to take my place sometime.
- 20:03Speaker 1: And this is what causes mos Kanada to buy her castle.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Right at tack o'donna there.
- 20:10Speaker 1: You go exactly. She's like, I'm out of here, you know,
- 20:14Speaker 1: like this isn't worth it. I'm going to go create
- 20:18Speaker 1: a space, you know for people to just come and
- 20:21Speaker 1: relax and you know, have a nice ale.
- 20:24Speaker 2: But see that's the thing too, is they would have
- 20:26Speaker 2: to do it in such a way that she was blameless,
- 20:29Speaker 2: that you couldn't blame mos Kanada for it, right, And
- 20:33Speaker 2: I think you.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Don't want to turn her in some kind of martyr
- 20:35Speaker 1: or something.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Right, Well, you also don't want to turn her into
- 20:38Speaker 2: too much of an enemy. She's useful exactly where she is.
- 20:43Speaker 2: So yeah, oh I like this. See. The thing is,
- 20:46Speaker 2: people back in ninety nine, when the more political aspects
- 20:49Speaker 2: of Star Wars came about, they mocked it. I was there,
- 20:52Speaker 2: you know, I'm like el Ron, it was three thousand
- 20:54Speaker 2: years ago. I was there. And but I live for
- 20:59Speaker 2: this sort of stuff because this is really that, this
- 21:01Speaker 2: is like that. This is super interesting to me because
- 21:04Speaker 2: I see a way where this story could exist and
- 21:08Speaker 2: it's different, and we haven't seen something like this in
- 21:10Speaker 2: Star Wars yet, but it still fits. And there's that
- 21:15Speaker 2: gap between the movies where I could see it working, yeah,
- 21:19Speaker 2: where at least is a comic series.
- 21:22Speaker 1: And I think a big part of this, right is
- 21:25Speaker 1: that that's what and Or brought back, right, was the
- 21:29Speaker 1: ultra political side of Star Wars, in the sense of
- 21:33Speaker 1: the political machinations behind the scenes, you know, and especially
- 21:37Speaker 1: when you got into season two and you were focusing
- 21:40Speaker 1: much more on on Mathma and what's happening in the
- 21:44Speaker 1: Senate and all of these crazy things that we see
- 21:47Speaker 1: happening in the way in which Palpatine is slowly edging
- 21:53Speaker 1: out everyone that's not in favor of his new order,
- 21:57Speaker 1: you know. And so, uh yeah, I think this is
- 22:00Speaker 1: fun and it like Star Wars is fun, man, and
- 22:05Speaker 1: people just need to learn to have more fun with
- 22:07Speaker 1: Star Wars, I think, and just enjoy it. And the
- 22:12Speaker 1: beauty of this too is that, you know, even Lucasfilm
- 22:16Speaker 1: has gotten into this by you know, allowing comics to
- 22:19Speaker 1: do else world stories and what if stories and vision stories,
- 22:24Speaker 1: you know, like what what happened if you know, Luke
- 22:27Speaker 1: could turn to the dark side and layout was the here?
- 22:29Speaker 1: You know, it's like, that's that's fun. What if stories
- 22:34Speaker 1: are really enjoyable because they help us to kind of
- 22:36Speaker 1: see the galaxy, you know, from a different point of
- 22:39Speaker 1: view and a new perspective. But then if you do
- 22:42Speaker 1: it right, it reminds you of why you loved the
- 22:45Speaker 1: original in the first place.
- 22:47Speaker 2: You know, I do know, And I also know that
- 22:49Speaker 2: another great way to keep this conversation going is to
- 22:51Speaker 2: reach out to you online. So, Matt, why don't you
- 22:54Speaker 2: tell people all the places where they can find you?
- 22:56Speaker 1: Well, I hope they'll do that. You can find me
- 22:59Speaker 1: all over social media name Matt Rushing zero two is
- 23:01Speaker 1: the place to look if I'm on that platform. That's
- 23:04Speaker 1: the name you'll find me under. Of course, here on
- 23:05Speaker 1: the network, I've got the completed show outpost talking about
- 23:08Speaker 1: every single chapter the Harry Potter series. And then you've
- 23:11Speaker 1: got me over on the TFM network with a bunch
- 23:13Speaker 1: of shows. One's the six oh two Club talking about
- 23:16Speaker 1: all of the franchises we love. John's a frequent guest
- 23:18Speaker 1: over there, and you can also find me with a
- 23:20Speaker 1: lot of great star trek talk with my good friend
- 23:22Speaker 1: Chris Jones. But John, if people want to know what
- 23:27Speaker 1: your thought process is like, if you were to name
- 23:30Speaker 1: somebody who should run against Vader, where would people find you?
- 23:34Speaker 2: Well, gosh, I wouldn't name anybody to run against Vader
- 23:37Speaker 2: because I'd be voting for him. And you can talk
- 23:39Speaker 2: to me about that over as my user named kessel
- 23:41Speaker 2: Junkie on your social network of choice letterbox Goodreads. Those
- 23:45Speaker 2: are my two main ones. You can visit me over
- 23:47Speaker 2: on Kesseljunkie dot com if you want to. I'm trying.
- 23:51Speaker 2: I'm gonna try to make writing more of a normal
- 23:53Speaker 2: thing because it's a very big stress release for me.
- 23:56Speaker 2: So we'll see. But of course you can also find
- 23:59Speaker 2: me here on the network co hosting a show called
- 24:01Speaker 2: house Lights with Tristan Riddell and Darren Moser, where we
- 24:04Speaker 2: look at the works of different directors and how they
- 24:06Speaker 2: handle different characters in different franchises. But Matt, I have
- 24:10Speaker 2: to go back to campaign headquarters and start getting on
- 24:14Speaker 2: the hulaanet banks to send out my spam messages asking
- 24:19Speaker 2: for just a five dollars donation sort five dot Terry
- 24:23Speaker 2: donation for candidate Vader for a new and even better empire.
- 24:28Speaker 2: So I think it's time to close these negotiations, John,
- 24:33Speaker 2: negotiations are closed. This would be the best thing, Okay.
- 24:40Speaker 2: So I will say that I really like you sticking
- 24:44Speaker 2: it there. I like that the I'm going to rephrase
- 24:49Speaker 2: that I really like us being thank you.
- 24:53Speaker 1: I'm sorry. That's the best out take we've ever had.
- 25:08Speaker 3: That's one of the end of the episode. I don't care.
- 25:11Speaker 3: It's that we're putting that at the end of the episode.
- 25:21Speaker 3: This is what happens when you talk about thinking.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Okay, deep breath, deep breath, deep breath.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Join the Revolution, Join the Nerd Party.
