- 0:08Speaker 1: Oh, it's Cap It presented by Lids. This is going
- 0:11Speaker 1: to be fun. So we're going to do predictions from
- 0:13Speaker 1: Kratz and from AJ. And then we will do a
- 0:16Speaker 1: tale of the tape. We'll go position by position and
- 0:19Speaker 1: starters and relievers to break down which side has the
- 0:23Speaker 1: advantage in each category. But let's start with the headliner,
- 0:27Speaker 1: Eric Kratz. Who is winning the 2026 World Series?
- 0:32Speaker 2: I don't want to be yelled at by... Doug Eddings
- 0:38Speaker 2: or whoever it was. The Milwaukee Brewers. I think they
- 0:42Speaker 2: have shown in the playoffs that they have had to
- 0:45Speaker 2: beat better competition.
- 0:47Speaker 3: They have had to beat.
- 0:50Speaker 2: They've had to play a game that I think to
- 0:52Speaker 2: get to where they are, they've dominated more. The Rays
- 0:57Speaker 2: in the first three games of their American League Championship
- 1:00Speaker 2: Series were outplayed in my opinion by the guardians one
- 1:05Speaker 2: error by jose ramirez and they could be down 3-0
- 1:08Speaker 2: instead they were only down 2-1 so i see that
- 1:14Speaker 2: this team has definitely started after a rain rain out
- 1:17Speaker 2: they had an extra day and they they started hitting
- 1:19Speaker 2: and they started putting it to the guardians but i
- 1:21Speaker 2: don't think the guardians were the dodgers i don't think
- 1:24Speaker 2: the guardians were i'm trying to think who else the
- 1:27Speaker 2: brewers beat the cubs i'm blanking out no padres i'm
- 1:32Speaker 2: sorry the I don't think they were the Padres. So
- 1:34Speaker 2: I think the Brewers are built to make this a
- 1:39Speaker 2: longer series. They're built to win it. And I think
- 1:42Speaker 2: it happens in six.
- 1:45Speaker 1: There you go. Okay. So Eric Kratz rocking the Milwaukee
- 1:49Speaker 1: Brewers lids cap. AJ Pruszynski sent us in his World
- 1:54Speaker 1: Series prediction.
- 1:57Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:57Speaker 4: It's cap it time. World Series edition. I'm going to
- 2:01Speaker 4: pick the hat for the category. So strongest home field advantage.
- 2:05Speaker 3: We got the Brewers and we got the Rays. Who
- 2:07Speaker 3: are we going with? You know, I'm going with, just kidding,
- 2:11Speaker 3: the Brewers. No, just kidding. The Rays. Why?
- 2:15Speaker 4: Because the Rays play at the trough. And if you
- 2:17Speaker 4: haven't played a game in the trough, you don't understand
- 2:19Speaker 4: the rings. You don't understand the ceiling. You don't understand
- 2:22Speaker 4: how loud it can get, the lights, everything that goes
- 2:25Speaker 4: on there. Listen, I had never seen a ball hit
- 2:27Speaker 4: the roof in Milwaukee until I saw it this year happen.
- 2:30Speaker 4: I never thought I'd see that happen. So the Rays
- 2:32Speaker 4: have too many quirks. They have the turf. They have
- 2:34Speaker 4: an advantage. It's a funky place to play. Milwaukee's unbelievable atmosphere.
- 2:38Speaker 4: But for me, trot. Next up, best starting pitching. I'm
- 2:44Speaker 4: going Rays again. Freddy Peralta's pitching like an ace. Drew
- 2:47Speaker 4: Rasmussen is an ace, and they have Nick Martinez, who
- 2:50Speaker 4: has had an incredible year. They can mix and match
- 2:53Speaker 4: with the best of them in that game four where
- 2:55Speaker 4: they're going to need a swing man. And with the Brewers,
- 2:57Speaker 4: the thing about the Brewers is, yes, Robert Gasser did nice. Yes,
- 3:00Speaker 4: Miz is really good. Logan Henderson has pitched short. He
- 3:03Speaker 4: barely makes it through five innings. What are you going
- 3:05Speaker 4: to get from Gasser? And I don't know what they're
- 3:07Speaker 4: going to do in game four, so I'm going with
- 3:09Speaker 4: the Rays.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Best bullpen? I mean, this one's easy.
- 3:12Speaker 4: As good as Brian Baker and the rest of the
- 3:13Speaker 4: Rays crew has been, the Brewers' bullpen is the best
- 3:16Speaker 4: in baseball. Ashby, Uribe, Hall, Romero, even Dustin May chipped
- 3:21Speaker 4: in just to get the ball to Trevor McGill.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Easy.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Brewers easy. And then the most dangerous lineup. This is
- 3:27Speaker 4: where it gets close for me. I don't know which one,
- 3:29Speaker 4: but I'm going Brewers.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Why?
- 3:30Speaker 4: Because I love Jackson Turio at the top. I love
- 3:32Speaker 4: Bryce Serang. William Contreras is a stud. They have so
- 3:36Speaker 4: many options, one through nine. And the thing about Tampa Bay,
- 3:38Speaker 4: it can get a little light at the bottom if
- 3:40Speaker 4: Walls and some of those other guys aren't getting on base.
- 3:43Speaker 3: But the Brewers, one through nine, can hurt you. Those
- 3:46Speaker 3: are my picks, guys.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Thank you, Mr. Pruszynski.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Okay, Kratz, do you want to play off what AJ
- 3:53Speaker 1: just said in terms of those categories? And then we'll
- 3:55Speaker 1: do a more deep position by position. But on just
- 3:58Speaker 1: some four basics, what do you have for us?
- 4:01Speaker 2: I have the Brewers as the home field advantage. I
- 4:03Speaker 2: think until you've been in a playoff game in that
- 4:05Speaker 2: atmosphere in Milwaukee, it's crazy. Now, I've never been in Tampa,
- 4:11Speaker 2: and I'm not saying it's not. I just think they're
- 4:14Speaker 2: on top of you. The whole stadium leans over. So
- 4:18Speaker 2: I go Brewers. The best starting rotation. I have to
- 4:22Speaker 2: switch my hat. I'm not saying the Miz isn't good.
- 4:25Speaker 2: I'm not saying Logan Henderson isn't good. But I think
- 4:28Speaker 2: the depth of actual starters goes to the Rays. And
- 4:33Speaker 2: I think it's a wide margin. Which is crazy to
- 4:36Speaker 2: say even with the Miz in that group. And then
- 4:39Speaker 2: I got to switch my hat back.
- 4:41Speaker 3: Yes, everybody.
- 4:41Speaker 2: I am bald.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Okay.
- 4:43Speaker 2: But... I think the best bullpen by far is the Brewers.
- 4:48Speaker 2: I think, again, the depth and probably even man-to-man, it
- 4:52Speaker 2: is better. And then the lineup, I think the dangerous
- 4:57Speaker 2: part of the Brewers lineup extends longer than the Rays
- 5:01Speaker 2: lineup because you hear the narrative, oh, Chandler Simpson, he
- 5:04Speaker 2: can do a lot of things. Most dangerous lineup, to me,
- 5:10Speaker 2: doesn't include Chandler Simpson. Now, there's an aspect to it.
- 5:14Speaker 2: that he creates havoc. He doesn't strike out. You have
- 5:18Speaker 2: to do a lot of things. The whole lineup doesn't
- 5:20Speaker 2: strike out. But I think as far as one through nine,
- 5:23Speaker 2: you're going to get more out of the Brewers lineup.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Nice. And I agree with you guys on the starting
- 5:30Speaker 1: pitching and the bullpen. The bullpen's easy. What the Brewers
- 5:34Speaker 1: are doing with their bullpen right now is incredible. There's
- 5:38Speaker 1: a lot of depth to it. I know some people
- 5:40Speaker 1: mentioned Brian Baker's velocity kept kind of ticking down towards
- 5:43Speaker 1: the end of that CS. We'll see if it ticks
- 5:45Speaker 1: back up. And it's actually a pretty big storyline between
- 5:47Speaker 1: the Rays and the Brewers. And I know he can
- 5:50Speaker 1: get by with a few ticks off, but you're better
- 5:53Speaker 1: if you're Brian Baker and you're bringing the heat. The Brewers'
- 5:56Speaker 1: average bullpen velocity from their forcing fastballs is like 97, 98,
- 6:00Speaker 1: something like that, 97. The Rays' number is actually below
- 6:04Speaker 1: league average. The Rays' number, I think, is in the
- 6:07Speaker 1: 93 range, especially if you aren't considering Freddie P's one
- 6:12Speaker 1: start or how many, you know, if you're going by
- 6:13Speaker 1: pitches or appearances or each pitcher, they are a below
- 6:17Speaker 1: average bullpen in terms of velocity.
- 6:20Speaker 2: The Rays bullpen is everywhere on. If you look at
- 6:23Speaker 2: the spectrum of arm angles from left to right, they
- 6:28Speaker 2: cover almost the entire thing. You have an Ian Seymour
- 6:30Speaker 2: who throws this 92 mile an hour, like invisible. You
- 6:35Speaker 2: have Brian Baker, who's more over the top with that
- 6:38Speaker 2: nasty touchdown. with that nasty changeup. And you know what?
- 6:43Speaker 2: Whether his velocity is going down, ticking down slightly or not,
- 6:47Speaker 2: you know how he's feeling based on how they have
- 6:49Speaker 2: used him. Every other team has used their closers for
- 6:53Speaker 2: more than one inning. He has not thrown more than one.
- 6:56Speaker 2: They haven't needed him to, but a lot of teams
- 7:00Speaker 2: would already have gone to him. And shoot, I think
- 7:03Speaker 2: Cade Smith just threw an inning yesterday and there's not
- 7:05Speaker 2: even a game. Like as much as they were using him,
- 7:07Speaker 2: Louie Varland's pitching right now for John Schneider. Like, there's dudes,
- 7:11Speaker 2: there's closers that you see go more than one inning.
- 7:14Speaker 2: So you see where he's at in this season by
- 7:17Speaker 2: how they're using him.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I think Louie Varland's still pitching after that 2025 postseason.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Everyday Louie.
- 7:25Speaker 1: But let's do five minutes on the position players, okay?
- 7:29Speaker 1: So let's just go around, starting with catcher. It's William
- 7:32Speaker 1: Contreras for the Brewers. It's Liam Hicks for the Rays.
- 7:36Speaker 1: who has the edge here, and Fortes. But let's talk
- 7:39Speaker 1: about some of the big boys. Hicks had a huge year,
- 7:41Speaker 1: but you're going Milwaukee on this one.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Hicks, tremendous batter, great zone discipline. I still think it's
- 7:48Speaker 2: William Contreras. What he did, he could have been MVP
- 7:53Speaker 2: of the NLCS. Like, just saying.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Yeah, in eight playoff games, he has an 1157 OPS.
- 8:01Speaker 1: He's been hitting incredibly well. He is catching all of
- 8:05Speaker 1: these high VLO pitchers on Milwaukee and ERA wise, you
- 8:09Speaker 1: look at how they've done run prevention. You got to
- 8:11Speaker 1: give him a lot of credit. Okay. Let's go to
- 8:12Speaker 1: first base. This one's interesting. Jonathan Aranda had a great year.
- 8:17Speaker 1: He's a contact guy. Jake Bowers is a three true
- 8:20Speaker 1: outcomes guy, right? A lot of walk hit Homer, huge
- 8:23Speaker 1: clutch moments really for both of them in the postseason
- 8:26Speaker 1: more for Jake, especially with the deep pitches per plate
- 8:29Speaker 1: appearance that he's been working up.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Who do you have for this season right now? Jake Bowers.
- 8:36Speaker 2: And I'm not even looking at, like, if I would
- 8:38Speaker 2: have said last year, I mean, at the beginning of
- 8:40Speaker 2: the year, who would you choose? Jonathan Aranda. I thought
- 8:42Speaker 2: Jonathan Aranda was going to take the next step and
- 8:45Speaker 2: start hitting more homers. He did. I thought he was
- 8:48Speaker 2: going to continue to be a 300 hitter. He's not
- 8:51Speaker 2: quite where he was, but 274 is legit. What Jake
- 8:56Speaker 2: Bowers has done this year and it's translated over, I'm
- 8:59Speaker 2: going Jake Bowers so the Brewers get another position.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Boom.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Okay.
- 9:04Speaker 1: This one's going to be easy, so we'll go quicker
- 9:06Speaker 1: on some. Second base, Bryce Terang is arguably, what, top
- 9:11Speaker 1: three at worst at second base. You can easily make
- 9:14Speaker 1: a case for him being number one in the entire
- 9:17Speaker 1: league at second base. So are we good to just
- 9:20Speaker 1: say Bryce Terang, don't have to do much here, versus
- 9:23Speaker 1: some solid Richie Palacios and Ben Williamson action there for
- 9:27Speaker 1: the Rays, but it's not Bryce Terang. Shortstop, Cooper Pratt.
- 9:33Speaker 1: who is very new to the scene against Taylor walls.
- 9:36Speaker 1: And I see you putting the raise hat on and
- 9:38Speaker 1: I'm with you here. Taylor walls is incredible. Some people
- 9:41Speaker 1: made some like JJ Hardy comps, like a better JJ Hardy, right?
- 9:45Speaker 1: With even more range. Hardy never made the plays or
- 9:48Speaker 1: never missed on plays that he should make. But I
- 9:50Speaker 1: think walls does that. Plus he also makes some ridiculous plays.
- 9:54Speaker 1: What do you think of, I guess the dynamic here
- 9:56Speaker 1: where Pratt obviously can give you a little bit more offense,
- 9:58Speaker 1: but he also hasn't been a force.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Pratt.
- 10:00Speaker 1: It's, it's mostly been, you know, singles and maybe a
- 10:03Speaker 1: few doubles, but he hasn't been a force at the plate.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Pratt had a three hit game in LA. I think
- 10:09Speaker 2: it was a three hit game or four hit game.
- 10:11Speaker 3: I'm not sure.
- 10:11Speaker 2: So offensively, He's definitely advanced, which you didn't think was
- 10:16Speaker 2: going to happen, and I've seen some misplays. There's been
- 10:19Speaker 2: some misplays, a little bit like younger guy playing in
- 10:22Speaker 2: the postseason. Taylor Walls doesn't have this huge amount of
- 10:28Speaker 2: postseason experience, but he is steady Eddie in the field,
- 10:35Speaker 2: and at shortstop, I could care less if he gives
- 10:37Speaker 2: you nothing at the bat. I know people will say
- 10:40Speaker 2: it could come back to bite you.
- 10:42Speaker 3: You're right, it could.
- 10:43Speaker 2: But I don't think Cooper Pratt is dominating enough at
- 10:48Speaker 2: the plate to take over what Taylor Walls has done,
- 10:51Speaker 2: solidifying the shortstop position for the Rays.
- 10:55Speaker 1: I'm going to do two easy ones so that we
- 10:56Speaker 1: can get our last two minutes on the outfield. Third base,
- 10:59Speaker 1: Junior Caminero is a top three MVP candidate. We're good there. DH,
- 11:03Speaker 1: Yandy Diaz. I'm sorry, Christian Yelch had a great career.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Yandy is an easy step up over Christian in terms
- 11:08Speaker 1: of where he is right now in his career.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Sneaky free agent, by the way.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Yeah, Yandy's going to get paid. I know he's a
- 11:15Speaker 1: little up there in years, but he's going to get paid. Okay,
- 11:17Speaker 1: so right field, we've got Sal Freelick against Victor Mesa Jr.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Left field, there's a Chandler Simpson-Jackson Churio matchup that I
- 11:24Speaker 1: think is fascinating. Then Garrett Mitchell against Johnny DeLuca in
- 11:27Speaker 1: center field. So give me those three in a minute.
- 11:31Speaker 2: I got one Ray, two Brewers. Jackson Churio, every single day, over.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Chandler Simpson. Chandler Simpson's a great player. Jackson Churio will
- 11:42Speaker 2: get MVP votes multiple seasons in his career, possibly even
- 11:45Speaker 2: winning one. Garrett Mitchell, what he does in center field.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Johnny DeLuca puts together great at-bats. Garrett Mitchell hits the ball.
- 11:52Speaker 2: I think he's top five average exit velocity in the league,
- 11:56Speaker 2: and he absolutely runs everything down. And I think right
- 12:00Speaker 2: field goes back to the Rays. I think there's a
- 12:05Speaker 2: little bit of instability in right. As far as is
- 12:07Speaker 2: it going to be Laura? Is it going to be
- 12:09Speaker 2: Sal Freelick? I love Sal Freelick's at-bats, but I think
- 12:14Speaker 2: it goes to the Ricks.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Nice.
- 12:16Speaker 2: That was fun.
- 12:16Speaker 1: We did a lot there. Hope you enjoyed the tale
- 12:18Speaker 1: of the tape. If you're watching this later on, comment below.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Let us know where we absolutely botched this. It's all good.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Thanks to Lids.
- 12:26Speaker 2: I can handle it.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Yes, Kratz can definitely handle it, and he has two hats,
- 12:30Speaker 1: so he can play both sides of the argument here.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Thanks to Lids for providing the hats and also cap
- 12:35Speaker 1: it presented by Lids, your home for all postseason headwear
- 12:38Speaker 1: and apparel needs. You can go get a cap or

- 12:43Speaker 1: an instant 20% off your next in-store purchase. Message, data rates,
- 12:47Speaker 1: and exclusions do apply. Hey, here we are. Sarah Lang
- 12:51Speaker 1: saying this will be the fourth time in the last
- 12:53Speaker 1: 10 seasons we see a franchise win its first ever
- 12:55Speaker 1: World Series. 2023 Rangers, 2019 Nats, 2017 Lakers. Houston Astros,
- 13:01Speaker 1: only other 10 World Series spans since 1920 with four
- 13:05Speaker 1: plus first-time champions. 2002 Angels, 2001 Diamondbacks, 97 Marlins, 92
- 13:12Speaker 1: Blue Jays. And those were some newer franchises. And then
- 13:15Speaker 1: you had the 20s, 26, 24, 23, 20. I'm not
- 13:17Speaker 1: even going to go over the 1920s.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Sorry, people.
- 13:23Speaker 1: But the point here is that you have some franchises
- 13:25Speaker 1: that have been around for a minute at this point,
- 13:27Speaker 1: and they're getting their first crack. at winning a world series.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Or in this case, I know the Brewers and Rays
- 13:33Speaker 1: have been there, but being that neither of them have won,
- 13:35Speaker 1: we will definitely get a first time champ. That is
- 13:38Speaker 1: really cool. I'll say it from what I said, what,
- 13:40Speaker 1: three days ago, the teams I root for in the
- 13:43Speaker 1: post season are usually the ones that have not won
- 13:45Speaker 1: in a long time or ever. And this is kind
- 13:48Speaker 1: of the dream. I love to watch cities experience their
- 13:51Speaker 1: first ever title or their first title in a very
- 13:54Speaker 1: long time. Like we just saw with the Knicks in
- 13:56Speaker 1: New York city, Guardians, of course, haven't had a World
- 13:59Speaker 1: Series title in a really long time. But as we
- 14:01Speaker 1: just showed on that list, Texas Rangers winning for the
- 14:04Speaker 1: first time. These are cool stories.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Yeah, that's such a cool stat by Sarah Langs. The
- 14:09Speaker 2: whole 1921, the whole two expansion teams right there when
- 14:15Speaker 2: the Dimebacks and Marlins won.
- 14:20Speaker 3: So this is really cool.
- 14:21Speaker 2: In a 10-year span, we get organizations that haven't won it.
- 14:27Speaker 2: And Mark Antonacio was talking with John Heyman, and he
- 14:32Speaker 2: was like, you know, the people are like, they don't
- 14:35Speaker 2: know if this is going to happen again for another
- 14:37Speaker 2: 44 years. That's what happens. Like, it's not like Dodger
- 14:41Speaker 2: fans might not make it back to another World Series
- 14:44Speaker 2: for a long time. Like, you celebrate these types of
- 14:49Speaker 2: stats that are really cool to me, and I think
- 14:53Speaker 2: it's great. I think it shows where we're at with
- 14:55Speaker 2: the game.
- 14:56Speaker 1: And don't just say it's the small markets. The Cubs
- 14:58Speaker 1: didn't win in forever. The White Sox didn't win in forever.
- 15:01Speaker 1: The Mets haven't won in forever at this point since 86.
- 15:04Speaker 1: So those are all top three markets in the sport
- 15:07Speaker 1: that were starved as hell and then picked up World
- 15:10Speaker 1: Series titles.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Our generation thinks differently about the Red Sox now, but
- 15:17Speaker 2: my parents' generation are like, bro, the Red Sox, those
- 15:21Speaker 2: dudes sucked. They never won. Now... They have all the
- 15:24Speaker 2: championships up in New England, but that's a big franchise.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Lovable losers at Wrigley for a long time. Stop me
- 15:37Speaker 1: if you've heard this before. The Angels are behind. Jeff
- 15:41Speaker 1: Fletcher's story about Kurt Suzuki not returning also included the
- 15:45Speaker 1: GM slash baseball operations leader debate or waiting process. They
- 15:52Speaker 1: have not even begun interviewing candidates. It could take weeks.
- 15:55Speaker 1: It could even spill into next year. Here's the only
- 15:59Speaker 1: good news that I've gotten out of all of this, Kratz,
- 16:01Speaker 1: if I'm an Angels fan. The new ownership group is involved.
- 16:04Speaker 2: It does make sense.
- 16:05Speaker 1: What are you going to do? You're about to hire
- 16:07Speaker 1: someone to lead the front office and be a manager
- 16:10Speaker 1: before a new ownership group takes over. It doesn't make sense.
- 16:14Speaker 1: I know I mentioned how the Orioles were in a
- 16:15Speaker 1: different spot, but the Orioles had continuity. They decided to
- 16:18Speaker 1: keep Mike Elias, and they had to wait to make
- 16:20Speaker 1: official transactions since the last Orioles owner was cheap as
- 16:23Speaker 1: hell and tried to steal all the money, including paying
- 16:26Speaker 1: himself $ 5 million to run a TV company that he
- 16:28Speaker 1: didn't touch. But anyway, I digress, I digress. The Angels
- 16:33Speaker 1: are going to wait and make sure they get this
- 16:35Speaker 1: right for the new owner who will be much better
- 16:37Speaker 1: than the current one.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Why can't they just be part of it? Like, I
- 16:41Speaker 2: know you're taking over. Why can't they be part of it?
- 16:42Speaker 2: You can't let your team go till next year till
- 16:46Speaker 2: you have a GM. They're going to be in the
- 16:48Speaker 2: market for zero free agents this offseason, then, is what
- 16:51Speaker 2: you're telling me.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Yeah, November is when half the action is going to happen.
- 16:56Speaker 1: So the Angels aren't going to have a president of
- 16:58Speaker 1: baseball ops. You're right. I'm trying to do this glass
- 17:01Speaker 1: half full and say, hey, there's a new ownership group coming.
- 17:03Speaker 1: They're not going to be cheap idiots. But... It is
- 17:08Speaker 1: pretty tough for this new ownership group to not be
- 17:10Speaker 1: able to participate in November if they don't have a GM.
- 17:13Speaker 1: I know Mazaylock's going to do some stuff, but damn,
- 17:15Speaker 1: this is just choppy. Hey, a couple other aftermath tweets
- 17:23Speaker 1: from the Yankees press conference. So here was a quote
- 17:26Speaker 1: from owner Hal Steinbrenner. Winning 93 games is not a failure.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Playing in the division series is not a failure. It
- 17:31Speaker 1: became a failure. because we did not do well. I
- 17:34Speaker 1: think quotes like this getting dissected by fans, like, Oh, see,
- 17:37Speaker 1: he doesn't want a world series. Like, okay. And there's
- 17:39Speaker 1: other leftover notes we're showing on the screen for you
- 17:41Speaker 1: that you can read. I'm going to read one too,
- 17:44Speaker 1: from Joel Sherman, who has covered the Yankees for a
- 17:47Speaker 1: long time for the New York post. He said, hopefully
- 17:50Speaker 1: for Yankees fans, Aaron Boone gave a better explanation to
- 17:53Speaker 1: Hal and Cashman of what he can do differently for
- 17:55Speaker 1: his team to stand up to stronger competition in October
- 17:58Speaker 1: than he did publicly on Wednesday. And I actually think
- 18:01Speaker 1: there's a good theme here on the Booney side who
- 18:04Speaker 1: kind of fights back at the media that feels as
- 18:06Speaker 1: if he should be more critical of the players. And
- 18:08Speaker 1: he's just like, I'm giving red meat to you guys
- 18:11Speaker 1: if I'm doing that, for you guys to just run wild.
- 18:13Speaker 1: The New York media firestorm is real. So I do
- 18:17Speaker 1: feel like there was a little bit of tension coming
- 18:19Speaker 1: off of the press conference, Kratz, where I get both
- 18:23Speaker 1: sides here. If you're a writer and you're covering this team,
- 18:25Speaker 1: you're not seeing– the Yankees that you saw 20, 25
- 18:29Speaker 1: years ago anymore that are dominating in the post season.
- 18:32Speaker 1: But at the same time, what do you want Aaron
- 18:34Speaker 1: Boone to say? Uh, yeah, I think we should change
- 18:36Speaker 1: our organizational approach. Uh, that would be the leader of
- 18:40Speaker 1: the front office. Like you gotta be careful about who
- 18:42Speaker 1: you're criticizing here too.
- 18:43Speaker 2: No.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:45Speaker 2: But I don't think, I don't think Boone's ever worried
- 18:47Speaker 2: about like, Ooh, if I say something, I'm going to
- 18:49Speaker 2: lose my job. This is who Boone is. Like Boone
- 18:53Speaker 2: backs his players. He backs his organization because the reality is,
- 18:57Speaker 2: The structure of the team that they make, Hal Steinbrenner
- 19:01Speaker 2: was right. The structure of the team that they make
- 19:04Speaker 2: is good. They are a good team. The Rays right
- 19:06Speaker 2: now are like 51-2 on the season and in playoffs
- 19:11Speaker 2: when they out-homer the other team.
- 19:13Speaker 3: 100%.
- 19:15Speaker 2: So the Yankees are built to do that. They haven't
- 19:19Speaker 2: done it deep into the playoffs, although the Yankees were
- 19:22Speaker 2: just in the World Series in 2024, so don't forget that.
- 19:24Speaker 3: But.
- 19:26Speaker 2: They haven't done it. So where do the tweaks need
- 19:30Speaker 2: to be made or where does the critique need to
- 19:32Speaker 2: be made?
- 19:33Speaker 3: Not in the media.
- 19:34Speaker 2: He can't go to the media and be like, you
- 19:38Speaker 2: know what? Jazz shouldn't have thrown that ball when he
- 19:42Speaker 2: was laying essentially horizontal and he tried to turn and
- 19:46Speaker 2: fire it. No, the game is not played by one.
- 19:50Speaker 2: one single play. It's played as a unit, as a team.
- 19:55Speaker 2: And I think that's where he needs to address this team.
- 19:58Speaker 2: And he will behind the scenes. He's going to ask
- 20:00Speaker 2: these guys to do something that they fell short of
- 20:04Speaker 2: when the opportunity arises.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Also, for Yankee fans, I want to be the Rays.
- 20:09Speaker 1: The Rays haven't won a World Series, so take a
- 20:11Speaker 1: step back on that.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Excellent.
