- 1:31Speaker 1: road to five hundred subscribers on YouTube. Shout out to
- 1:35Speaker 1: the audio listeners who've been listening for years. You know
- 1:38Speaker 1: we probably well past that, but sometimes I don't check
- 1:41Speaker 1: the stats. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I apologize. But for
- 1:46Speaker 1: those who like a video to go with the audio,
- 1:51Speaker 1: you know, maybe running in the background, maybe you want
- 1:53Speaker 1: to see my face when I say certain things, become
- 1:57Speaker 1: a subscriber to this podcast, because honestly, I'm gonna keep
- 1:59Speaker 1: it one hundred with y'all. I looked at the analytics,
- 2:04Speaker 1: the data for this podcast on YouTube, and it's growing.
- 2:09Speaker 1: It's growing slowly but surely, and it's organic. I ain't
- 2:12Speaker 1: purchasing any looks or anything like that. Maybe I need
- 2:15Speaker 1: to do it one time, you know, get a little boost,
- 2:17Speaker 1: but I have it so organically. We've gone from somewhere
- 2:23Speaker 1: from one hundred subscribers to four hundred, around four hundred
- 2:27Speaker 1: and sixty. We're trying to get to five hundred subscribers
- 2:31Speaker 1: and then obviously eventually the big one thousand. I need
- 2:36Speaker 1: your help to get there. And looking at my analytics,
- 2:40Speaker 1: at least recently last month, sixty two percent of the
- 2:44Speaker 1: people who watched some of my content on YouTube weren't subscribers. Now,
- 2:51Speaker 1: I'm not going to force you to become a subscriber.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I will just say this, if you like what you
- 2:59Speaker 1: see in here, if you keep coming back for more
- 3:03Speaker 1: or at least interested, maybe not watch every video, but
- 3:07Speaker 1: you just want to check in and see what are
- 3:08Speaker 1: you talking about? What he's talking about. Become a subscriber.
- 3:13Speaker 1: All it does is just keep you locked in, keeps
- 3:15Speaker 1: the content in front of you as you navigate YouTube.
- 3:19Speaker 1: And if you feel like you know people, whether they're
- 3:22Speaker 1: on your timeline and your family at work or whatever,
- 3:25Speaker 1: who or hip hop heads that would enjoy news and
- 3:29Speaker 1: perspectives of the hip hop kind, share it with them.
- 3:34Speaker 1: That's the best thing. That's the best way you could help.
- 3:36Speaker 1: So I appreciate everybody who has subscribed. I appreciate everybody
- 3:41Speaker 1: who was watching this podcast now. I hope you stick around.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Bombs big shout out to hip hopdx dot com, where
- 3:49Speaker 1: I get a lot of my news stories from. Also
- 3:52Speaker 1: all hip hop dot Com and Ambrosure for heads. Let's
- 3:57Speaker 1: get right into the business done. So check this out, y'all.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Check this out. Conway the Machine, I know the list.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I know. Conway the Machine recently listed his top five
- 4:15Speaker 1: MC's and his scale, which is important. His scale is
- 4:21Speaker 1: based off who he thinks has the nicest pen game
- 4:26Speaker 1: right now. For those of you who are interested in
- 4:29Speaker 1: hip hop and pulling up to this podcast. First of all,
- 4:33Speaker 1: welcome those of you who are new and maybe you
- 4:35Speaker 1: don't get all the lingo, but you're you like it,
- 4:38Speaker 1: you like hip hop. Nicest does not mean this guy's
- 4:45Speaker 1: a good guy or that that doesn't mean he's a
- 4:47Speaker 1: bad guy. But it doesn't mean what you think it is.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Nicest does not mean that, it means you are very good,
- 4:57Speaker 1: excellent at writing raps okay, doesn't mean the kindest, the
- 5:03Speaker 1: nicest on these mic devices, like remember, like that's what
- 5:07Speaker 1: we talk about, right, So that's the slang. But Conway
- 5:13Speaker 1: listed his top five. So he was on the drop
- 5:18Speaker 1: one of four point seven in Denver, Colorado, and was
- 5:22Speaker 1: asked about his favorite spinners, and this is what he
- 5:25Speaker 1: said in our quote. Hands down they top five. But
- 5:30Speaker 1: for me, I'm gonna say the nicest pin the nicest dudes,
- 5:35Speaker 1: no order at all, Andre three thousand, I'm gonna say
- 5:41Speaker 1: jay Z. I really really want to say Tupac, but
- 5:46Speaker 1: hold on, let me keep thinking. I want to have
- 5:49Speaker 1: Ray and Ghosts as one. It's a tie, and I
- 5:54Speaker 1: probably go with Lil Wayne in fifty cent. So let's
- 5:59Speaker 1: see one, two, three, four, five, six, he got like
- 6:04Speaker 1: seven people, y'all. He not committing to it now, as
- 6:09Speaker 1: we always do. We have to say this right like
- 6:13Speaker 1: as we always do. We got to say this. I'm
- 6:15Speaker 1: just making sure he didn't add any other things to that, okay,
- 6:23Speaker 1: So his top five to me is cool. I could
- 6:28Speaker 1: see I could see somebody who puts Tupac in their
- 6:32Speaker 1: top five as far as nicest pin. I think some
- 6:35Speaker 1: people don't think about Tupac when they say nicest and
- 6:39Speaker 1: nicest pin because they really only think about like lyrical
- 6:43Speaker 1: technique as far as being really technical with how you
- 6:47Speaker 1: put your words together and claver with it right. But
- 6:52Speaker 1: Tupac's pin game was to me strongest when it was
- 6:57Speaker 1: his conscious music, when it was his you know, like
- 7:01Speaker 1: the pro black or dear Mama, or keep your head
- 7:05Speaker 1: up or changes. You know what I'm saying. I wonder
- 7:09Speaker 1: if having got a ghetto like the things he would
- 7:13Speaker 1: say in these records, Brenda's got a baby, you know,
- 7:16Speaker 1: even I get around. Tupac was a lot of those things.
- 7:20Speaker 1: So I could see somebody including Tupac. Jay Z was
- 7:23Speaker 1: kind of a given because jay Z embraced Griselda when
- 7:26Speaker 1: it came out. You know, came around, not saying that
- 7:30Speaker 1: he didn't like him before that, but I think that
- 7:31Speaker 1: reinforces how you feel about a person now that you've
- 7:35Speaker 1: arrived and they've embraced you publicly, and you know, and
- 7:40Speaker 1: everything beyond that Lil Wayne I could see because there's
- 7:45Speaker 1: a generation and old heads, and ain't that from my generation,
- 7:49Speaker 1: but old heads, notice there's a generation who Lil Wayne
- 7:56Speaker 1: is the blueprint for other rappers that came after that.
- 8:00Speaker 1: He's literally the blueprint. His influence can't be denied. And
- 8:04Speaker 1: his influence isn't just you know, those that chose to
- 8:09Speaker 1: dress and look like him, you know what I'm saying,
- 8:12Speaker 1: It's really much more than that. There's a lot of
- 8:14Speaker 1: people who we respect, like a Kendrick Lamar, who I
- 8:18Speaker 1: wouldn't mind hearing a Kendrick and Lil Wayne track together.
- 8:21Speaker 1: I wonder if they've ever done that. They might do
- 8:23Speaker 1: it now though, because you know things that went down.
- 8:28Speaker 1: But you know, there's a certain generations that's just heavily
- 8:33Speaker 1: influenced by Lil Wayne, and I think also there's a
- 8:38Speaker 1: certain level of respect. Lil Wayne is a hip hop head,
- 8:41Speaker 1: like the stories people tell in hip hop about him,
- 8:46Speaker 1: with features like him not charging dudes when he was
- 8:49Speaker 1: at his peak, him like, you know, yo, Wayne, can
- 8:53Speaker 1: you hop on this track? And he's sending you that
- 8:56Speaker 1: joint the same day, like he's an honorable dude. I
- 9:01Speaker 1: can see fifty cent on his list. There's a part
- 9:04Speaker 1: of Conway the Machine that has a little fifty in
- 9:08Speaker 1: what he does. And again of a certain generation fifty pooh,
- 9:11Speaker 1: when fifty was hot, it was hot, okay, mixtape scene everything.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Who else he named rain Ghost? I could see that
- 9:19Speaker 1: as well. So I think, I mean, I think generally
- 9:25Speaker 1: in Andre three stacks, I think like when people argue
- 9:29Speaker 1: for or against Andred three thousand, I think it's tough
- 9:33Speaker 1: for people to explain why they like him and why
- 9:36Speaker 1: they don't like him. And I think it's pretty simple.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Andred three thousand is almost like a dude a style.
- 9:43Speaker 1: You can't really say he's this or he's that. You
- 9:47Speaker 1: can't call him country, can't call him you know, basic.
- 9:52Speaker 1: You might not consider him a boombat rapper, like he
- 9:55Speaker 1: literally can do any style right, any style, and he's
- 10:01Speaker 1: really dope with it and thoughtful, like even though yeah,
- 10:06Speaker 1: this isn't the craziest line ever, but I remember he
- 10:09Speaker 1: was on that one song with Ry I think it
- 10:13Speaker 1: was Ryan Leslie and Kanye and all of that. Don't
- 10:16Speaker 1: stop something like that. Well he said the light what
- 10:20Speaker 1: he said the life in times of Andre ben Jammon,
- 10:25Speaker 1: Like because his name is Andre Benjamin, I was just
- 10:28Speaker 1: like man man flipped his last name. He could have
- 10:33Speaker 1: had that ball a long time ago. And that's just
- 10:35Speaker 1: crazy alone. So we get it. I've already done at
- 10:41Speaker 1: least my top five MC's of all time. I think
- 10:47Speaker 1: if it just came down to my favorites, it might
- 10:49Speaker 1: be a little different. But for the most part, that
- 10:53Speaker 1: list was that list, So I don't know. I don't
- 10:57Speaker 1: disagree with him. It's his list, but I think it
- 11:00Speaker 1: is a solid list. He just chose like seven people
- 11:03Speaker 1: instead of five, So there you have it. Tyler the
- 11:09Speaker 1: Creator did an interview recently, and what stuck out the
- 11:15Speaker 1: most in this interview beyond everything else, like apologizing to
- 11:21Speaker 1: Eminem about his critique on Recovery, which was Eminem's kind
- 11:25Speaker 1: of sobriety, you know, comeback album, so to speak, which
- 11:31Speaker 1: I thought was pretty good for Eminem because it was
- 11:35Speaker 1: different from anything else he had done at the time.
- 11:39Speaker 1: But he also said that he doesn't like meme rappers.
- 11:46Speaker 1: So in an interview with Maverick Carter, who I didn't
- 11:51Speaker 1: know he had his own platform, but whatever he said,
- 11:55Speaker 1: Tyler said, I don't want to seem like a hater
- 11:59Speaker 1: something times I have hater energy because I just think
- 12:02Speaker 1: I'm that good. I love this art form so much, bro.
- 12:07Speaker 1: And there's so many end words out right now that
- 12:11Speaker 1: aren't musicians that are getting treated like musicians because they
- 12:16Speaker 1: make mean records. They'll publicly be like, I don't give
- 12:20Speaker 1: an f about music. I just do this ish for money.
- 12:25Speaker 1: It's like the Spider Man meme of the next N word,
- 12:29Speaker 1: when every publication is like, hell yeah, let's put that
- 12:32Speaker 1: out now, you're taking up space for people like me.
- 12:38Speaker 1: I ain't gonna hold y'all. You know, I agree, you know,
- 12:43Speaker 1: I agree because it's it's unfortunate, and I kind of
- 12:47Speaker 1: blame those institutions and organizations and companies that give this
- 12:54Speaker 1: stuff life because it's an easy buck to make, because
- 12:59Speaker 1: it's t most of these and it's not everybody in
- 13:04Speaker 1: the industry right, because there are people who put out
- 13:07Speaker 1: quality music, but it's just too easy to continue or
- 13:13Speaker 1: trend and to continue to feed people this meaningless trend.
- 13:17Speaker 1: It's like fast food, right, you're hungry, you eat fast food.
- 13:21Speaker 1: You're not hungry nomore. But if you're eating fast food
- 13:23Speaker 1: every day, it's just not good for you. It's not
- 13:27Speaker 1: fast food is not good for you. Home cooked meals
- 13:30Speaker 1: are good for you, and we need more home cooked meals.
- 13:33Speaker 1: And I think that's his whole issue, is the fact
- 13:37Speaker 1: that all of this energy is being poured into these
- 13:41Speaker 1: artists because I don't like to say musicians unless you
- 13:43Speaker 1: play instruments, so I will say artists, because you know
- 13:47Speaker 1: you're recording artists, performers, whatever. I feel like they don't
- 13:53Speaker 1: necessarily care enough or even have a way. And it's
- 14:00Speaker 1: around the fact they're being used because we could literally
- 14:06Speaker 1: go down the list of the hot new rapper, and
- 14:10Speaker 1: it's been happening for like ever since the ringtone era,
- 14:15Speaker 1: where you know such and such artists is hot with
- 14:20Speaker 1: a song that could be catchy, which is cool, but
- 14:24Speaker 1: then after that star fades, nobody cares about them that much.
- 14:29Speaker 1: They're just more of a prop that bounces around until
- 14:34Speaker 1: they fade away and we forget about them because there's
- 14:37Speaker 1: already been ten new versions of that. And I think now,
- 14:42Speaker 1: right now, what you're seeing is it happened mostly with
- 14:46Speaker 1: the ladies right now, it's kind of the ladies turn.
- 14:49Speaker 1: For a long time it was the dudes, but now
- 14:53Speaker 1: you keep getting these female rappers every five minutes who
- 14:57Speaker 1: have the same rhetoric, have the same look, move the
- 15:00Speaker 1: same way, talk the same way, talk about the same
- 15:05Speaker 1: things over and over again, until that group of people
- 15:11Speaker 1: who like that music or who like that artist feel
- 15:14Speaker 1: like they're not really doing much. Which is interesting, right
- 15:18Speaker 1: because for the people who love and I'm just gonna
- 15:21Speaker 1: name names, I'm not trying to disrespect, there's songs here
- 15:24Speaker 1: and there from different people I like, but just not
- 15:27Speaker 1: enough to go to sew a whole album or even
- 15:30Speaker 1: buy the song I like. But when you look at like,
- 15:36Speaker 1: oh there's ice Spice, and oh there's sexy Red, and
- 15:39Speaker 1: there's Glowrilla, and you know, like it's in Scarlet, even
- 15:43Speaker 1: though Scarlet is a little bit different, but now she's
- 15:45Speaker 1: trying to get in that same lane. It's sort of like,
- 15:49Speaker 1: if you don't capitalize off of your moment, you can't
- 15:54Speaker 1: expect to be gone. If you're not more then the
- 16:00Speaker 1: mean rap you create, you're a trend. You're literally a
- 16:05Speaker 1: trend you're literally a mean, right, there's a meme that's just, oh,
- 16:10Speaker 1: everybody think it's funny. Everybody uses it, and you kind
- 16:12Speaker 1: of use it, use it and use it, and then
- 16:14Speaker 1: you stop because you moved on to the next thing.
- 16:16Speaker 1: So in a lot of ways, yes, it gets in
- 16:20Speaker 1: the way of those that take their time to write
- 16:25Speaker 1: impactful music, to create impactful production and promotional layouts, and
- 16:33Speaker 1: just people who work on a project, you know, with
- 16:38Speaker 1: full detail until they're ready to just go. And before
- 16:42Speaker 1: I move on to the final topic, here's a prime example.
- 16:46Speaker 1: We look at the Drake and Kendrick battle as a battle, right,
- 16:53Speaker 1: but under that layer, and trust me, on this podcast
- 16:57Speaker 1: with guests, we've talked about it, you know, to the
- 17:00Speaker 1: calves come home or whatever at nauseam. Right, But the
- 17:06Speaker 1: reason why Kendrick won is because Drake thought that using
- 17:14Speaker 1: the same trendy formula that's kind of worked for him,
- 17:17Speaker 1: even though I put him way above some of those
- 17:20Speaker 1: other people I've named, but he thought using the trendiness
- 17:27Speaker 1: of pop culture and what people like and how fast
- 17:30Speaker 1: they move on and blah blah blah was going to
- 17:33Speaker 1: get people on his side because it was it's almost
- 17:36Speaker 1: like people are trained to just jump on what's trendy,
- 17:40Speaker 1: but Kendrick was able to take what's trendy with substance
- 17:48Speaker 1: and really counteract everything Drake did and really point out
- 17:53Speaker 1: how like bankrupt of like like the substance of what
- 18:01Speaker 1: Drake was saying and making felt bankrupt in comparison to
- 18:07Speaker 1: somebody who gave you what was it, four different disc records,
- 18:10Speaker 1: None of them sound the same, all of them contain
- 18:13Speaker 1: a certain vibe from boom back to West Coast bop
- 18:18Speaker 1: to straight up bars to straight to you know, track
- 18:23Speaker 1: beats and all like he gave you all those looks
- 18:27Speaker 1: and layered his lyrics and all of this was all
- 18:31Speaker 1: in like record term. This wasn't Oh it took two
- 18:34Speaker 1: years or he must have been sitting on those records.
- 18:36Speaker 1: You don't rebuttal like that without sitting on those records.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Just know this, You know how he did it because
- 18:44Speaker 1: he's bad where he at now. He's Batman just pops
- 18:51Speaker 1: out destroyers to dude. So that's the thing I'm saying
- 18:55Speaker 1: with this, It's like Drake's probably the fatal move for
- 19:00Speaker 1: somebody like Drake in this battle was the fact that
- 19:03Speaker 1: he thought he can do the same trendy things that
- 19:06Speaker 1: had been working for him for years with his singles
- 19:09Speaker 1: and stuff like that. And then that wave was just
- 19:12Speaker 1: gonna say, Yo, Drake's winning because he's making what's hot.
- 19:17Speaker 1: And Kendrick said, I'm gonna make what's hot and I'm
- 19:20Speaker 1: gonna make everything else and I'm going to get everything
- 19:23Speaker 1: and everybody on my side. Whereas the trendy meme rap,
- 19:30Speaker 1: you know, hey, look a look at this, y'all. Hey,
- 19:33Speaker 1: look at the people. Whether you like that stuff, you
- 19:38Speaker 1: like half of those rappers or all of those rappers
- 19:41Speaker 1: are named or not, no quality. When they hear it
- 19:45Speaker 1: and when they see it, it's just a matter of
- 19:49Speaker 1: whether they wanted to accept it. And once they accept it,
- 19:53Speaker 1: it makes it tough for those who, you know, are
- 19:56Speaker 1: used to reading the instructions on the cake box that
- 20:00Speaker 1: are making a cake from scratch. Does that make sense?
- 20:05Speaker 1: And lastly, so uh. Power one five interviewed Sauce Walker
- 20:16Speaker 1: this week. If you're from the future, I mean something
- 20:19Speaker 1: already happens. Get your ass out of here. You already know, man,
- 20:22Speaker 1: it's not even for you. But Sauce Walker was on
- 20:25Speaker 1: Power one on five's Breakfast Club and he specifically talked
- 20:30Speaker 1: about Drake and becoming a resident of Houston. Right recently,
- 20:37Speaker 1: I saw online I think it was Double Excel posted
- 20:42Speaker 1: Drake's ID as a Houston resident now, which was interesting
- 20:47Speaker 1: for a number of reasons. But we're not going to
- 20:49Speaker 1: get into those other other things. But Sauce Walker spoke
- 20:53Speaker 1: on it, and him and Drake have kind of had
- 20:57Speaker 1: their thing back in the past. It he actually made
- 21:02Speaker 1: a disc record about Drake that I don't think I
- 21:06Speaker 1: even heard of it. I remember seeing the cover, but
- 21:08Speaker 1: I don't think I've heard of it. It's a play
- 21:11Speaker 1: on back to back. I think it's called Whack to
- 21:13Speaker 1: Whack or something like that. So there's a history now
- 21:16Speaker 1: supposedly that was all water under the bridge, And in
- 21:19Speaker 1: his interview, he basically was saying, like, Yo, it's funny
- 21:24Speaker 1: how this dude is becoming a resident of this town.
- 21:28Speaker 1: And he's always claimed this town, like you know, as
- 21:32Speaker 1: an influence in Da Da Da, But he's never really
- 21:38Speaker 1: done music with a lot of the artists from Houston
- 21:43Speaker 1: like he did with Atlanta, right, and we know how
- 21:46Speaker 1: that went. Just go see the like that record, you
- 21:49Speaker 1: ain't like that record, not that record, not like us,
- 21:52Speaker 1: But he was coming more so from the standpoint because
- 21:58Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure people can point out, oh, well, he
- 22:00Speaker 1: worked with you know, Beyonce, and he worked with such
- 22:03Speaker 1: and such who was from Texas. But the point he
- 22:07Speaker 1: was making was those are like even exchanges, right, Like
- 22:12Speaker 1: if Drake does music with Travis Scott, who I think
- 22:16Speaker 1: he mentioned who I didn't even know he was from there,
- 22:20Speaker 1: but maybe he is. I don't know. You let me
- 22:22Speaker 1: know in the comment section, but he was saying that,
- 22:26Speaker 1: you know, Travis is a is a big artist, right,
- 22:29Speaker 1: so him and Drake teaming up is more like an
- 22:32Speaker 1: even exchange as opposed to Drake working with hot artists
- 22:37Speaker 1: who are up and coming, who in some cases may
- 22:40Speaker 1: not be that well known outside of Texas. That was
- 22:44Speaker 1: his point because he did that numerous times with Atlanta artists.
- 22:51Speaker 1: I agree, but I think Souce Walkers is just wait
- 22:55Speaker 1: because considering now Drake is a resident, we know Rap
- 23:01Speaker 1: a Lot Records is close by him, so we know
- 23:03Speaker 1: why you're there fan safe Haven. I could see him
- 23:09Speaker 1: really like try not to appear like a vulture, but
- 23:17Speaker 1: working like yo, who's hot, you know, And Sauce Walker
- 23:20Speaker 1: is one of those dudes who's hot down there. Is
- 23:24Speaker 1: it the biggest deal in the world. I don't think so.
- 23:27Speaker 1: I like, I could see where Sauce Walker is coming from,
- 23:33Speaker 1: but I guess I don't like the fact that he's
- 23:38Speaker 1: pointing that out right, because not because Drake doesn't do
- 23:43Speaker 1: it or that he's not right, but just the simple
- 23:45Speaker 1: fact that it comes across like if Drake was if
- 23:51Speaker 1: Drake did that with you, would you say it? That's
- 23:54Speaker 1: what I feel what you say if he was, like, Yo,
- 23:57Speaker 1: I'm gonna embrace Sauce Walker because I think the thing
- 24:00Speaker 1: is is Hendrick, a dude from Compton, pointed out what
- 24:06Speaker 1: Drake was doing, pointed out publicly what Drake was doing
- 24:10Speaker 1: with Atlanta, right, nobody from Atlanta did Drake did. Now
- 24:16Speaker 1: I'm talking I mean Kendrick did. Now Again, I'm talking
- 24:20Speaker 1: about someone with a voice that when he says it,
- 24:24Speaker 1: everybody can hear it. So they're probably are people. Probably
- 24:27Speaker 1: are people who felt that way in atl But everybody
- 24:32Speaker 1: was working with him, so it didn't you know, it
- 24:34Speaker 1: didn't mean anything. I just kind of feel like if
- 24:38Speaker 1: Drake turned around and started doing that, which you feel
- 24:40Speaker 1: better about him because the knock on him and the
- 24:43Speaker 1: reason why Sauce Walker was probably mentioning this is he's
- 24:48Speaker 1: using the culture to further his career and make money.
- 24:56Speaker 1: So Atlanta was the hot spot for hip hop. And
- 25:00Speaker 1: remember Drake, if you if you've been a Drake fan,
- 25:03Speaker 1: like I've been a Drake fan since day one, right,
- 25:07Speaker 1: there's a different there's two different versions of Drake. This
- 25:11Speaker 1: the Drake from the early days who sound a certain
- 25:14Speaker 1: way on tracks, sung on records, and then there's the
- 25:19Speaker 1: other one who started hopping on waves and culture and
- 25:22Speaker 1: trying to make his own version of that. And when
- 25:26Speaker 1: you look at him before any of the fame, before
- 25:29Speaker 1: cash Money and Young Money and all of that, you
- 25:34Speaker 1: could tell he was a dude that wasn't that connected
- 25:37Speaker 1: to the culture. He probably liked it, but he's not
- 25:42Speaker 1: the dude that he portrays himself to be today. He
- 25:46Speaker 1: kind of became that over time, especially through affiliation with
- 25:51Speaker 1: certain artists including Rick Ross and stuff like that. So
- 25:56Speaker 1: it's it's kind of sad in some ways because honestly,
- 26:03Speaker 1: this Drake is going to take a hit from this.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Everything he's been doing is not being looked upon as
- 26:12Speaker 1: positive or comeback. Even the music, like, yeah, sure there's
- 26:16Speaker 1: some people here and now who like it? But Drake
- 26:20Speaker 1: has to do something different. I know you don't want
- 26:24Speaker 1: to go away. I know you don't want to feel
- 26:26Speaker 1: like you lost man, but you have to sit down
- 26:29Speaker 1: for a second because if you're doing more damage, you
- 26:35Speaker 1: keep thinking you can do that, or I could go
- 26:38Speaker 1: in here and I'm in Houston, y'all, and all of that,
- 26:40Speaker 1: and it just makes Hendrick's lyrics come to life every time.
- 26:48Speaker 1: You as soon as you hear the music, be like, yeah,
- 26:50Speaker 1: this new song is to pacify me. You know what
- 26:55Speaker 1: Kendrick made was to electrify us. You hear the difference
- 27:02Speaker 1: and you hear how mean rapper it can sound where
- 27:07Speaker 1: it's like, yeah, I don't know if I like this
- 27:11Speaker 1: kind of stuff anymore from Drake, but I'll say this,
- 27:15Speaker 1: and this will be the last thing I'll say. I
- 27:17Speaker 1: think if Drake digs back into what he used to be,
- 27:23Speaker 1: everything could be cool, because you know I know this history, like,
- 27:28Speaker 1: oh that was my song and I have a whatever
- 27:32Speaker 1: that Drake was just dope and it didn't matter where
- 27:35Speaker 1: he was from, right like it was Canada, but he
- 27:39Speaker 1: was making a dope record now, you know, trying to
- 27:43Speaker 1: hop on everybody wave and sound like them, and you
- 27:45Speaker 1: got a million ghostwriters and the simplest songs you didn't
- 27:49Speaker 1: even write like it's just looking bad. And I don't
- 27:53Speaker 1: want to talk about it every day or every week,
- 27:56Speaker 1: but I thought what Sauce Walker had to say it
- 27:59Speaker 1: was interesting considering It's kind of what a lot of
- 28:04Speaker 1: us were thinking when we saw the residency in Texas.
- 28:10Speaker 1: You know, like, wow, I wonder what brought this? You
- 28:16Speaker 1: know what brought this on? So there you have it.
- 28:19Speaker 1: What do you think about Drake and being a resident
- 28:24Speaker 1: of Houston using Houston as a launching pad Houston, Atlanta, Vegas, anybody,
- 28:31Speaker 1: but never really embracing the up and coming artists from
- 28:35Speaker 1: that town in the way he did Atlanta. You know,
- 28:38Speaker 1: what do you think about Conway's top five Nicest Pin?
- 28:42Speaker 1: My nicest Pen would be very different from his, even
- 28:46Speaker 1: though you know Hove would be there. What do you
- 28:49Speaker 1: think about that? And everything else you saw in this podcast?
