Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
0:06
rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, March 24th.
0:12
Courage to stand and follow. There are moments in life when
0:15
you feel too small for what is in front of you.
0:17
Too weak, too inexperienced, too uncertain, too ordinary.
0:22
Maybe you know what is right, but standing for it feels
0:25
intimidating. Maybe you sense God leading you,
0:28
but following Him feels risky. It is in moments like those that
0:32
courage becomes more than a feeling.
0:35
It becomes a decision to trust God more than your fear.
0:39
Proverbs chapter 12 verse 26 says the righteous is a guide to
0:43
his neighbor, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.
0:46
That means your life is not just about you.
0:49
Your choices point somewhere. The way you live, speak,
0:53
respond, and decide can influence the people around you
0:55
for good or for harm. Then Psalm chapter 36, verse 5
1:00
says Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens
1:04
your faithfulness to the clouds. Before God calls us to stand, He
1:08
reminds us of who He is. He is faithful.
1:12
His love is steady. His character does not shift
1:15
with our emotions, and in Judges chapters 6 to 7, Gideon is a
1:19
perfect example of someone who felt unqualified.
1:22
He doubted, hesitated, and questioned, Yet God called him
1:26
forward and showed him that victory would not come through
1:29
numbers or human confidence, but through God's strength.
1:33
That is still how God works. He often calls people who feel
1:37
inadequate so they will learn to rely on Him.
1:40
Courage is not having No Fear. Courage is moving in obedience
1:44
while leaning on the faithfulness of God.
1:47
It is standing when compromise would be easier.
1:50
It is speaking truth when silence would feel safer.
1:53
It is following God when you do not have all the details.
1:56
And the beautiful part is this. You do not have to manufacture
2:00
that strength by yourself. God gives it.
2:03
Gideon did not become brave because he suddenly believed in
2:06
himself. He became brave because God was
2:09
with him. That is the source of courage
2:12
for you too. Your example matters.
2:15
Someone is watching how you respond under pressure, how you
2:18
treat people, how you handle fear, and whether you trust God
2:21
when things feel uncertain. So stand, follow, trust.
2:26
Even small acts of obedience can become guiding lights in someone
2:29
else's darkness. Let's pray.
2:32
Heavenly Father, thank you for your steadfast love and
2:35
faithfulness. When I feel small or
2:38
unqualified, remind me that you are with me.
2:41
Give me courage to stand for what is right and to follow
2:43
where you lead. Let my choices guide others
2:46
toward truth and hope. Teach me to trust your strength
2:50
more than my fear, and help me walk in obedient faith each day.
2:53
In Jesus name, Amen. What if the most important
2:57
question in your life deserves more than a shallow answer?

Does God Exist Is a powerful, thought provoking series that
3:04
explores reality, meaning, and truth through reason, evidence,
3:08
human experience, and scripture without preaching pressure or
3:12
assumptions. Book 1, Something from Nothing,
3:15
confronts the mystery of existence itself and asks why
3:18
anything exists at all. Book 2, The Cause Behind the
3:22
Cosmos, examines the origin of the universe and whether it
3:25
points beyond itself. Book 3, Design or Accident,
3:29
wrestles with order and complexity.
3:31
Are they products of chance or intelligence?
3:33
Book 4, The Moral Signature, explores why objective right and
3:37
wrong may require a source beyond human opinion.
3:40
Book 5, The God We Cannot Escape, considers conscience,
3:43
longing, and humanity's persistent awareness of God.
3:47
Book 6, From Reason to Revelation, asks whether the God
3:50
who exists would also speak. And Book 7, Denying God,
3:54
examines the internal tensions of unbelief and the deeper
3:57
implications of rejecting the divine.
3:59
Written in clear, accessible language for seekers, skeptics,
4:02
students, and curious minds, this series invites honest
4:06
reflection and careful thinking. If you're ready to explore the
4:09
question seriously, Order Does God Exist?

4:17
Now I invite you to spend time with God in today's three-year
4:20
Bible reading plan. Proverbs Chapter 12 Verse 26
4:25
World English Bible. A righteous person is cautious
4:28
in friendship, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.
4:31
Psalm Chapter 36 World English Bible for the chief musician by
4:36
David, the servant of Yahweh. A revelation is within my heart
4:40
about the disobedience of the wicked.
4:42
There is No Fear of God before his eyes, for he flatters
4:46
himself in his own eyes too much to detect and hate his sin.
4:50
The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit.
4:52
He has ceased to be wise and to do good.
4:55
He plots iniquity on his bed. He sets himself in a way that is
4:58
not good. He doesn't abhor evil.
5:01
Your loving kindness, Yahweh is in the heavens.
5:03
Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
5:06
Your righteousness is like the mountains of God.
5:08
Your judgments are like a great, deep Yahweh.
5:11
You preserve man and animal. How precious is your loving
5:14
kindness, God, The children of men take refuge under the shadow
5:18
of your wings. They shall be abundantly
5:20
satisfied with the abundance of your house.
5:23
You will make them drink of the river of your pleasures.
5:25
For with you is the spring of life.
5:27
In your light we will see light. Oh, continue your loving
5:30
kindness to those who know you, Your righteousness to the
5:33
upright in heart. Don't let the foot of pride come
5:36
against me. Don't let the hand of the wicked
5:38
drive me away. They're the workers of iniquity
5:41
are fallen. They are thrust down and shall
5:44
not be able to rise. Judges, chapters six to seven
5:47
world English Bible. The children of Israel did that
5:51
which was evil in Yahweh's sight.
5:53
So Yahweh delivered them into the hand of Midian. 7 years the
5:57
hand of Midian prevailed against Israel, and because of Midian
6:00
the children of Israel made themselves the dens which are in
6:03
the mountains, the caves and the strongholds.
6:06
So it was when Israel had sown that the Midianites, the
6:09
Amalkites and the children of the East came up against them.
6:13
They encamped against them and destroyed the increase of the
6:15
earth until you come to Gaza. They left no sustenance in
6:19
Israel and no sheep, ox or donkey, for they came up with
6:23
their livestock and their tents. They came in as locusts for
6:26
multitude. Both they and their camels were
6:29
without number and they came into the land to destroy it.
6:32
Israel was brought very low because of Midian and the
6:35
children of Israel cried to Yahweh.
6:37
When the children of Israel cried to Yahweh because of
6:40
Midian, Yahweh sent a prophet to the children of Israel, and he
6:44
said to them, Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, I brought you up
6:48
from Egypt and brought you out of the House of bondage.
6:51
I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians and out of the
6:54
hand of all who oppressed you, and drove them out from before
6:57
you and gave you their land. I said to you, I am Yahweh your
7:00
God. You shall not fear the gods of
7:03
the Amorites in whose land you dwell, but you have not listened
7:06
to my voice. Yahweh's Angel came and sat
7:09
under the oak, which was an offra that belonged to Josh the
7:12
Abbey's rite. His son Gideon was beating out
7:15
wheat in the wine press to hide it from the Midianites.
7:18
Yahweh's Angel appeared to him and said to him, Yahweh is with
7:21
you, you mighty man of valor. Gideon said to him, Oh my Lord,
7:25
if Yahweh is with us, why then has all this happened to us?
7:29
We're all his wondrous works which our fathers told us of
7:31
saying, Didn't Yahweh bring us up from Egypt?
7:34
But now Yahweh has cast us off and delivered us into the hand
7:37
of Midian. Yahweh looked at him and said,
7:40
Go in this your might and save Israel from the hand of Midian.
7:44
Haven't I sent you? He said to him, Oh Lord, how
7:47
shall I save Israel? Behold, my family is the poorest
7:50
in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.
7:53
Yahweh said to him, Surely I will be with you, and you shall
7:56
strike the Midianites as one man.
7:58
He said to him, If now I have found favor in your sight, then
8:02
show me a sign that it is you who talk with me.
8:04
Please don't go away until I come to you and bring out my
8:07
present and lay it before you. He said, I will wait until you
8:11
come back. Gideon went in and prepared a
8:13
young goat and unleavened cakes of an efer of meal.
8:16
He put the meat in a basket and he put the broth in a pot and
8:19
brought it out to him under the oak and presented it.
8:22
The Angel of God said to him, take the meat and the unleavened
8:25
cakes and lay them on this rock and pour out the broth.
8:29
He did so. Then Yahweh's Angel stretched
8:31
out the end of the staff that was in his hand and touched the
8:35
meat and the unleavened cakes and fire went up out of the rock
8:38
and consumed the meat and the unleavened cakes.
8:41
Then Yahweh's Angel departed out of his sight.
8:44
Gideon saw that he was Yahweh's Angel and Gideon said, alas Lord
8:48
Yahweh, because I have seen Yahweh's Angel face to face.
8:51
Yahweh said to him, Peace be to you, don't be afraid, you shall
8:55
not die. Then Gideon built an altar there
8:57
to Yahweh and called it Yahweh is peace.
9:00
To this day it is still in offer of the Abbey's rights.
9:03
That same night Yahweh said to him, Take your father's bull,
9:07
even the second bull, seven years old, and throw down the
9:10
altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down the ashra that
9:13
is by it. Then build an altar to Yahweh
9:15
your God, on the top of this stronghold in an orderly way,
9:19
and take the second bull and offer a burnt offering with the
9:22
wood of the ashra, which you shall cut down.
9:25
Then Gideon took ten men of his servants and did as Yahweh had
9:29
spoken to him, because he feared his father's household and the
9:32
men of the city. He could not do it by day, but
9:35
he did it by night. When the men of the city arose
9:38
early in the morning, behold, the altar of bail was broken
9:41
down, and the ashrae was cut down.
9:44
That was by it, and the second bull was offered on the altar
9:47
that was built. They said to one another, Who
9:49
has done this thing? When they inquired and asked,
9:52
they said, Gideon, the son of Josh has done this thing.
9:55
Then the men of the city said to Josh, Bring out your son that he
9:58
may die because he has broken down the altar of Baal, and
10:01
because he has cut down the ashra that was by it.
10:04
Josh said to all who stood against him, Will you contend
10:07
for Baal, or will you save him? He who will contend for him, let
10:11
him be put to death by morning. If he is a God, let him contend
10:15
for himself, because someone has broken down his altar.
10:18
Therefore on that day he named him Jarabal, saying, Let Baal
10:22
contend against him, because he has broken down his altar.
10:25
Then all the Midianites and the Amalekites and the children of
10:29
the East assembled themselves together, and they passed over
10:32
and encamped in the valley of Jezreel.
10:34
But Yahweh's spirit came on Gideon, and he blew a trumpet,
10:38
and Abizar was gathered together to follow him.
10:41
He sent messengers throughout all Manasseh, and they also were
10:44
gathered together to follow him. He sent messengers to Asher, to
10:48
Zebulun, and to Naftali, and they came up to meet them.
10:51
Gideon said to God, If you will save Israel by my hand as you
10:55
have spoken, behold, I will put a fleece of wool on the
10:58
thrashing floor. If there is dew on the fleece
11:01
only, and it is dry on all the ground, then I'll know that you
11:04
will save Israel by my hand as you have spoken.
11:07
It was so, for he rose up early on the next day and pressed the
11:11
fleece together and wrung the dew out of the fleece, a bowl
11:14
full of water. Gideon said to God, Don't let
11:17
your anger be kindled against me, and I will speak but this
11:20
once. Please let me make a trial just
11:22
this once with the fleece. Let it now be dry only on the
11:25
fleece and on all the ground let there be dew.
11:28
God did so that night, for it was dry on the fleece only, and
11:32
there was dew on all the ground. Then Jerobal, who is Gideon, and
11:36
all the people who were with him, rose up early and encamped
11:39
beside the spring of Harrod. Midian's camp was on the north
11:42
side of them by the hill of Moor in the valley.
11:45
Yahweh said to Gideon, The people who are with you are too
11:48
many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, lest
11:50
Israel brag against me, saying, My own hand has saved me.
11:54
Now therefore proclaim in the ears of the people, saying,
11:57
Whoever is fearful and trembling, let him return and
12:00
depart from Mount Gilead. So 22,000 of the people returned
12:04
and 10,000 remained. Yahweh said to Gideon, There are
12:08
still too many people, bring them down to the water and I
12:11
will test them for you. There it shall be that those
12:13
whom I tell you this shall go with you, shall go with you, and
12:17
whoever I tell you this shall not go with you shall not go.
12:20
So he brought down the people to the water, and Yahweh said to
12:23
Gideon, Everyone who laps of the water with his tongue like a dog
12:27
lapse. You shall set him by himself.
12:30
Likewise everyone who bows down on his knees to drink.
12:33
The number of those who lapped, putting their hand to their
12:35
mouth was 300 men, but all the rest of the people bowed down on
12:39
their knees to drink water. Yahweh said to Gideon, I will
12:43
save you by the 300 men who lapped and deliver the
12:46
Midianites into your hand. Let all the other people go,
12:49
each to his own place. So the people took food in their
12:52
hand and their trumpets, and he sent all the rest of the men of
12:56
Israel to their own tents, but retained the 300 men.
13:00
And the camp of Midian was beneath him in the valley.
13:03
That same night Yahweh said to him, Arise, go down into the
13:06
camp, for I have delivered it into your hand.
13:09
But if you are afraid to go down, go with Pura your servant,
13:12
down to the camp. You will hear what they say, and
13:15
afterwards your hands will be strengthened to go down into the
13:18
camp. Then went he down with Pura his
13:20
servant, to the outermost part of the armed men who were in the
13:23
camp. The Midianites and the
13:25
Amalekites and all the children of the East lay along in the
13:28
valley like locusts for multitude, and their camels were
13:32
without number, as the sandwich is on the seashore for
13:35
multitude. When Gideon had come, behold,
13:37
there was a man telling a dream to his fellow.
13:40
He said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and behold, a cake of
13:43
barley bread tumbled into the camp of Midian, came to the tent
13:46
and struck it so that it fell, and turned it upside down so
13:49
that the tent lay flat. His fellow answered, This is
13:53
nothing other than the sword of Gideon the son of Josh, a man of
13:56
Israel. God has delivered Midian into
13:58
his hand with all the army. It was so when Gideon heard the
14:02
telling of the dream and its interpretation that he
14:05
worshipped. Then he returned into the camp
14:07
of Israel and said, Arise, for Yahweh has delivered the army of
14:11
Midian into your hand. He divided the 300 men into
14:15
three companies, and he put into the hands of all of them
14:18
trumpets and empty pitchers with torches within the pitchers.
14:22
He said to them, Watch me and do likewise.
14:24
Behold, when I come to the outermost part of the camp, it
14:27
shall be that as I do so you shall do.
14:30
When I blow the trumpet, I and all who are with me.
14:32
Then blow the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and
14:35
shout for Yahweh and for Gideon. So Gideon and the 100 men who
14:40
were with him came to the outermost part of the camp in
14:42
the beginning of the middle watch, when they had but newly
14:44
set the watch. Then they blew the trumpets and
14:47
broke in pieces the pitchers that were in their hands.
14:50
The three companies blew the trumpets, broke the pitchers,
14:53
and held the torches in their left hands and the trumpets in
14:56
their right hands with which to blow.
14:58
And they shouted the sword of Yahweh and of Gideon.
15:01
They each stood in his place around the camp, and all the
15:04
army ran and they shouted and put them to flight.
15:07
They blew the 300 trumpets, and Yahweh set every man's sword
15:11
against his fellow and against all the army.
15:14
And the army fled as far as Bait Shita, towards Zahra, as far as
15:17
the border of Abel Mahala by Tabith.
15:20
The men of Israel were gathered together out of Naftali, out of
15:23
Asher and out of all Manasseh, and pursued Midian.
15:27
Gideon sent messengers throughout all the Hill Country
15:29
of Ephraim saying Come down against Midian and take the
15:33
waters before them as far as Bait, Bera, even the Jordan.
15:37
So all the men of Ephraim were gathered together and took the
15:40
waters as far as Bate, Bara, even the Jordan.
15:43
They took the 2 Princess of Midian, Orab and Zeb.
15:46
They killed Orab at Orab's rock and Zeb they killed at Zeb's
15:50
wine press as they pursued Midian.
15:52
Then they brought the heads of Orab and Zeb to Gideon beyond
15:55
the Jordan. Thanks for joining us on Bible
