- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. So the Cowboys one again, the
- 0:19Speaker 1: Giants are no longer undefeated, and Dak Prescott got his
- 0:23Speaker 1: stitches out? Might he be back sooner rather than later?
- 0:28Speaker 1: Those stories and everything we learned from Monday Night football
- 0:31Speaker 1: coming up shortly. This is NFL Now. My name is andrews. Ceciliano.
- 0:35Speaker 1: We begin with the news out of Florida where we
- 0:37Speaker 1: are tracking. As everyone is in Florida Hurricane Ian. We
- 0:41Speaker 1: could tell you from a football's perspective, the game is
- 0:44Speaker 1: still on Sunday night in Tampa. It's the Bucks, It's
- 0:48Speaker 1: the Chiefs. It's Sunday Night on NBC. But the Buccaneers,
- 0:52Speaker 1: to be safe, are packing up and they are moving south.
- 0:56Speaker 1: More details on that now, we welcome in our Tom
- 1:00Speaker 1: Pella Sero and Mike Garifolo is going to be here
- 1:03Speaker 1: shortly as well our inside a report. They'll look you
- 1:06Speaker 1: are there, hi, Mike, Tom? What do we know about
- 1:08Speaker 1: the Bucks and their relocation to Miami? And the Buccaneers
- 1:13Speaker 1: are set to depart this afternoon for Miami, where they
- 1:16Speaker 1: will train at the Dolphins facility over the next several days.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Given that the Dolphins will be on the road for
- 1:21Speaker 1: a Thursday night game at Cincinnati. This all comes, as
- 1:25Speaker 1: you saw on the radar there as Hurricane Ian bears
- 1:28Speaker 1: down on the west coast of Florida. Bucks also invited
- 1:32Speaker 1: the family members of players, coaches, staff members to come
- 1:35Speaker 1: along as well, just to make sure that everyone is safe.
- 1:38Speaker 1: You also mentioned the status of the game. I just
- 1:41Speaker 1: checked again moments ago. According to the NFL, there is
- 1:44Speaker 1: no change to Sunday Nights Buccaneers versus Chiefs game. Now,
- 1:48Speaker 1: the league has a lot of experience navigating these situations.
- 1:52Speaker 1: They always have contingencies in terms of potential alternative venues,
- 1:55Speaker 1: potential alternate times, but they don't make those decisions until
- 1:59Speaker 1: you get closer. Hurricane Ian set to really make its
- 2:02Speaker 1: way towards Tampa in the next thirty six hours or so. Here,
- 2:05Speaker 1: so we'll see exactly how that store moves. Was upgraded
- 2:08Speaker 1: to a Category three earlier today before determining how long
- 2:12Speaker 1: the Buccaneers will be in Miami for starters, but then
- 2:15Speaker 1: also whether that game indeed will be played as scheduled
- 2:17Speaker 1: in Tampa on Sunday night. And read into this as
- 2:20Speaker 1: you may, but the Buccaneers within the last hour, announced
- 2:22Speaker 1: that what had been scheduled to be a ceremony for
- 2:25Speaker 1: Bruce Arians at halftime of that game Sunday, putting him
- 2:28Speaker 1: in the team's Ring of honor, that has been postponed
- 2:31Speaker 1: until a later date. But as we say, for now,
- 2:33Speaker 1: the game is on, but they're monitoring that situation as
- 2:36Speaker 1: the Bucks move to Miami. The Dolphins are getting ready
- 2:40Speaker 1: for their game Thursday in Cincinnati, Mike, where the Bengals
- 2:43Speaker 1: will be without a very key piece of their defensive line.
- 2:47Speaker 1: DJ Reader, the big guy up front in the middle
- 2:49Speaker 1: of the defensive line. He is going to miss some
- 2:52Speaker 1: extended time with a knee injury suffered the other day.
- 2:56Speaker 1: My understanding is it should be more than a month.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I was told around six weeks. But in the end
- 3:01Speaker 1: actually good news because there was a fear at one
- 3:03Speaker 1: point that this might be a season ending things. So
- 3:06Speaker 1: Dj Reader, Uh, he will be down for a while.
- 3:09Speaker 1: If you're into Pro Football Focus grades, he had a
- 3:12Speaker 1: ninety one UH this season. So the former Texan who
- 3:16Speaker 1: was signed as a free agent by the Bengals a
- 3:19Speaker 1: couple of years ago. He had an injury a couple
- 3:20Speaker 1: of years ago. He missed extended time, so there's another
- 3:23Speaker 1: tough break for him. Uh and for this Bengals defense,
- 3:26Speaker 1: a defense that has been playing extremely well by the
- 3:28Speaker 1: way defensive coordinator UH lou Anna Rumo's unit, and UH
- 3:34Speaker 1: Zach Taylor, the head coach, said, I'm glad I don't
- 3:36Speaker 1: have to go up against our own defense. That defense
- 3:38Speaker 1: twenty straight drives without allowing a touchdown, so they're playing
- 3:42Speaker 1: really well. So they'll figure out a way to get
- 3:44Speaker 1: by without DJ Reader. Elsewhere on the veteran defensive player front,
- 3:50Speaker 1: Xavier Rhodes, the former first round pick of Vikings, a
- 3:54Speaker 1: former first team All Pro who spent the last two
- 3:57Speaker 1: seasons with the Cults, he is visiting the Buffalo Bills.
- 4:00Speaker 1: The Bills are down cornerbacks. Christian Benford's got a broken
- 4:03Speaker 1: hands for Davias White has yet to a Dane Jackson
- 4:06Speaker 1: we know suffer that scary injury, still waiting on his return.
- 4:09Speaker 1: So Xavier roads up in Buffalo today, meeting with the
- 4:14Speaker 1: Bill's potential signing there in addition to a certainly super
- 4:17Speaker 1: bowlready roster that if they need some help at the
- 4:19Speaker 1: cornerback position, Rhodes could provide it. All right, let's get
- 4:22Speaker 1: to the Steelers here. Tom When last we heard from
- 4:25Speaker 1: Mike Tomlin, this was Thursday, after their loss to the
- 4:28Speaker 1: Browns Week three. He said that he was not going
- 4:32Speaker 1: to change quarterbacks. Um, after sleeping on it over the weekend,
- 4:35Speaker 1: he's still not going to change quarterbacks. What else, however,
- 4:39Speaker 1: did he say about his offense and Mitch Drabinsky today, Well, Andrew.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Mike Tomlin was not asked direct leader in the twenty
- 4:45Speaker 1: two minute press conference about his plans at quarterback moving forward.
- 4:48Speaker 1: He was asked where he has seen Mitch Drobinsky improved
- 4:52Speaker 1: through the course of this season. Tomlin said, all areas,
- 4:55Speaker 1: though obviously, as Tomlin pointed out repeatedly, no one is
- 4:58Speaker 1: playing well enough, and we are quote hacked off about
- 5:01Speaker 1: not winning these past couple of games. It's a business
- 5:04Speaker 1: of winning, Tomlin's said. And so we've got to get
- 5:07Speaker 1: back to business. As I was talking about on Thursday
- 5:10Speaker 1: morning from the stadium in Cleveland, this is really a
- 5:12Speaker 1: week to week evaluation right now with Mitch Drabinsky, and
- 5:15Speaker 1: he was not the issue in that game in Cleveland.
- 5:18Speaker 1: There were a bunch of opportunities. They did push the
- 5:20Speaker 1: ball down the field. They of course hit one down
- 5:22Speaker 1: there to George Pickens, but had a bunch of others
- 5:25Speaker 1: that didn't end up connecting. The hope on the Steelers
- 5:28Speaker 1: front mic is that they're going to gather some momentum
- 5:31Speaker 1: here developed that rhythm and chemistry. He's only played Mitch
- 5:34Speaker 1: Drobiski has three games with these wide receivers so far.
- 5:37Speaker 1: No question, there has been some frustration. Part of that
- 5:39Speaker 1: frustration going into the Cleveland game was not throwing the
- 5:42Speaker 1: ball downfield. Well, now he's done that. They've got to
- 5:44Speaker 1: turn that into actual productivity. And of course Kenny Pickett
- 5:48Speaker 1: is looming there in the background, the first round draft
- 5:50Speaker 1: pick whose time is coming sooner than later. We certainly
- 5:53Speaker 1: saw productivity from Cooper Rush last night, one another one
- 5:57Speaker 1: for the Cowboys. And then Mike McCarthy was joking. He
- 6:01Speaker 1: was asked about a quarterback controversy. He laughed and said,
- 6:04Speaker 1: see a guy as I'm getting to the plane. Here's
- 6:07Speaker 1: what Jerry Jones said on the radio this morning. I
- 6:11Speaker 1: think his progress is nothing short of amazing. Uh Now,
- 6:16Speaker 1: progress has everything, including the definition for dack of the
- 6:22Speaker 1: ability to be able with firm strength gripped the football
- 6:27Speaker 1: so that you can throw the football. He's not doing that.
- 6:31Speaker 1: But as far as his ability to potentially function in
- 6:36Speaker 1: a couple of weeks or a week or ten days
- 6:39Speaker 1: or two weeks, three weeks, four weeks, I don't think
- 6:42Speaker 1: you could ask for a better result the type of injury.
- 6:46Speaker 1: It is. Uh, he'll be able to play u within
- 6:50Speaker 1: a week or two. He'll be able to and from
- 6:53Speaker 1: the standpoint of risk to the injury, it's a question
- 6:56Speaker 1: of whether or not he'll be able to grip and
- 6:58Speaker 1: throw the ball. And we don't know that alright, So
- 7:02Speaker 1: a lot of unknowns here. He's got to try to
- 7:05Speaker 1: grip and throw a football, Tom But if not the
- 7:08Speaker 1: Commanders this week, and no one's saying he's gonna play
- 7:11Speaker 1: this week against the Commanders, maybe Week five and the
- 7:14Speaker 1: Rams Andrew. What I'm told is that Dak Prescott has
- 7:17Speaker 1: always looked at that Week five game against the Rams
- 7:20Speaker 1: as the one that he was hoping to get back for.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Now that would be less than four weeks after he
- 7:26Speaker 1: underwent that surgery on the thumb on his throwing hand,
- 7:29Speaker 1: which is obviously a significant procedure. Just got the stitches
- 7:32Speaker 1: out yesterday. Are Jane Slater talked to Dac he showed
- 7:35Speaker 1: her the thumb. It looks pretty good. There's not a
- 7:38Speaker 1: ton of swelling from what I am told, there's still
- 7:40Speaker 1: at least a little swelling. It may not be visible,
- 7:42Speaker 1: but there's still some swelling there that he's got to
- 7:44Speaker 1: be able to get past. And then it really comes
- 7:46Speaker 1: down to making sure that bone has healed enough and
- 7:49Speaker 1: then he can properly grip and throw the football. I've said,
- 7:52Speaker 1: and Ian has reported the Week six against the Eagles
- 7:55Speaker 1: is probably the most likely timeline for Dad to get back,
- 7:59Speaker 1: still well ahead of the bye, well ahead of the
- 8:01Speaker 1: six eight week timeline that some people were speculating about
- 8:04Speaker 1: prior to the injury. Here fairly remarkable. And at this point,
- 8:07Speaker 1: if you were the Cowboys, you're looking at the fact
- 8:09Speaker 1: you've won two games with Cooper Rush. Not that there is,
- 8:12Speaker 1: of course a quarterback controversy there, but if you were
- 8:15Speaker 1: kind of on the brink of playoff elimination, maybe be
- 8:17Speaker 1: a little bit more like how the Seahawks felt laste
- 8:19Speaker 1: Russell Wilson forced himself to go out there. At least
- 8:21Speaker 1: Cooper Rush has kept the train on the track here
- 8:25Speaker 1: and Dak does not have to rush back, though certainly
- 8:27Speaker 1: not being on injured reserve means he can practice, start
- 8:30Speaker 1: ramping up and we'll see where he is come that
- 8:32Speaker 1: Week five game. Mike, Cooper Rush has done a fantastic job.
- 8:36Speaker 1: And I I just get the sense like when Dak
- 8:38Speaker 1: Prescott is ready, Dak Prescott is coming back. It's not like, well,
- 8:41Speaker 1: you could sit another week because Cooper Rush. It's just
- 8:44Speaker 1: that decision is gonna be made in and of itself,
- 8:46Speaker 1: So let's see when that comes. But love for Cooper
- 8:49Speaker 1: rush Man I always uh, you know, you talk about
- 8:52Speaker 1: arm strength coming into the draft and the windows are
- 8:55Speaker 1: so tight and it opens and it closes quickly, and
- 8:57Speaker 1: I mean, my man's putting some loft in the ball.
- 9:00Speaker 1: He's an anticipatory thrower. He's kind of always been that way.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Uh So to be able to kind of see what's
- 9:05Speaker 1: going to happen in the future as you're throwing the football,
- 9:08Speaker 1: because that's basically what you're doing, it's it's an incredible
- 9:11Speaker 1: skill set and it takes uh knowledge of the system,
- 9:14Speaker 1: which he certainly has from being around there for quite
- 9:16Speaker 1: some time and playing alongside Kellen Moore and now more
- 9:20Speaker 1: as a coach and knowing his targets. I thought he
- 9:22Speaker 1: did a fantastic job last night. I was just smiling
- 9:24Speaker 1: because he said, my man, Cooper Rush. How about that
- 9:27Speaker 1: Cooper Rush former Giant, You're my man too, And no,
- 9:30Speaker 1: I get it. I just saying, like, feel the love
- 9:33Speaker 1: here twice for a month. NFL Now continues. How does
- 9:38Speaker 1: Josh Allen? How do the Buffalo Bills bounce back this week?
- 9:43Speaker 1: It doesn't get any easier. They had to Baltimore to
- 9:45Speaker 1: face the Ravens. The Bills in the spotlight no longer unbeaten.
- 9:51Speaker 1: As we continue on NFL Now Corona, He's third and
- 9:55Speaker 1: not to cross the blog behind said people play Jackson's
- 10:03Speaker 1: the backfield. He drift to his righte shovel paths bark
- 10:06Speaker 1: Anrews in poor touchdown. Jackson lobs for the Ants, already's
- 10:10Speaker 1: looking for Andrews reaches up. He bakes a catch touchdown.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Jackson wants to throw off the play, fake fires in
- 10:17Speaker 1: the ant zone. Touchdown. Oliver Jackson fires back of the
- 10:22Speaker 1: ant zone. Doby thanks to catch touchdown. Romar and Jackson's
- 10:26Speaker 1: four touchdown of the afternoon touchdown Robart Jackson with a
- 10:31Speaker 1: knockout shot. Thought it was interesting how John Harbor yesterday
- 10:36Speaker 1: said Lamar is doing it his way. Well, his way
- 10:38Speaker 1: this year is beating the Blitz. These are next gen
- 10:41Speaker 1: stats powered by a W s. Lamar Jackson against the
- 10:45Speaker 1: Blitz already has more touchdowns this year than last six
- 10:50Speaker 1: with no picks. Look at last year. I mean, how
- 10:55Speaker 1: do you beat the guy? Getting ready for the Bills
- 10:58Speaker 1: this week? This game is in Baltimore. Mike Giardi Brian
- 11:01Speaker 1: Baldinger with me. Mike, start with you what it is
- 11:04Speaker 1: teammates saying about the way Lamar is playing through three weeks,
- 11:08Speaker 1: Absolute reverence for the player. And having covered the Patriots
- 11:12Speaker 1: with Tom Brady for almost two decades, I can tell
- 11:15Speaker 1: you picking up from the Raven's it's sort of the
- 11:17Speaker 1: same thing. And of course the difference being is that
- 11:20Speaker 1: Lamar does things athletically that Brady could never do. But
- 11:23Speaker 1: you talked to Calais Campbell after the game and he said,
- 11:25Speaker 1: I'm I'm surprised every time he does something, and yet
- 11:28Speaker 1: here I am seeing it each and every day, each
- 11:30Speaker 1: and every week. But yet then he does something and
- 11:32Speaker 1: I'm going, how how did he do that? And I'm
- 11:34Speaker 1: glad that he's on my team and I don't have
- 11:36Speaker 1: to defend him. Marlon Humphrey sort of that going the
- 11:38Speaker 1: same thing, saying, as long as I'm in a uniform,
- 11:40Speaker 1: I want to make sure that Lamar is in my uniform.
- 11:43Speaker 1: And there was a point there and talking to J. K.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Dobbins after the game where he felt like Lamar just said,
- 11:48Speaker 1: you know what, guys, it's it's on me now. I'm
- 11:50Speaker 1: gonna take this thing over. And he did. He took
- 11:53Speaker 1: some more opportunities to run and the Patriots had no answers.
- 11:56Speaker 1: And to your point about the blitz, I believe, depending
- 11:58Speaker 1: on which site you wanna go with, three of the
- 12:02Speaker 1: touchdown passes he threw in the game came against the
- 12:04Speaker 1: Patriots and the Lits, So go ahead try him. He's
- 12:07Speaker 1: so much more comfortable in the pocket Baldi that I
- 12:10Speaker 1: think it's becoming very difficult for teams to figure out
- 12:12Speaker 1: the right way to scheme him up. It's interesting, Mike
- 12:16Speaker 1: that you bring him. Tom Brady and Lamar Jackson the
- 12:19Speaker 1: only two players in the history hundred three year history
- 12:21Speaker 1: of this NFL that have been the unanimous choice for
- 12:25Speaker 1: league m v P. Unanimous. Lamar was three years ago,
- 12:28Speaker 1: and he's playing better now than he did three years
- 12:30Speaker 1: ago because of what you're talking about from the pocket
- 12:32Speaker 1: right now, good luck, because it's pinpoint passing. He knows
- 12:37Speaker 1: where his safety valves are. Um he strown seven touchdowns
- 12:40Speaker 1: in the last two weeks, and that first half against
- 12:43Speaker 1: that shootout against the Dolphins, he had a perfect quarterback rating.
- 12:47Speaker 1: He came out the third quarter had his longest run
- 12:49Speaker 1: from scrimmage in the NFL seventy nine yards. He backs
- 12:53Speaker 1: it up last week. He's averaging eleven yards a run
- 12:57Speaker 1: in the last two weeks, twenty runs over two hundred
- 13:00Speaker 1: twenty yards, and he's stown seven touchdown passes. Pick your poison.
- 13:04Speaker 1: I don't know that there the right way. Maybe there's
- 13:06Speaker 1: a way that you could put sneak twelve guys on
- 13:09Speaker 1: the field, maybe have an extra guy that you know,
- 13:11Speaker 1: maybe the seven officials don't see. Maybe that's a defense
- 13:15Speaker 1: that we haven't seen yet that might work. But otherwise,
- 13:18Speaker 1: just the pedestrian loveman defense. There isn't an answer for
- 13:22Speaker 1: the other thing too, is it's not just to Mark Andrews.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Mark Andrews is producing. Certainly they had the two touchdowns
- 13:29Speaker 1: last week, but the deep all we show there to
- 13:31Speaker 1: du Verney, he said Bateman as well a Duverney more
- 13:34Speaker 1: than once. Um, this idea that Lamar can't throw outside
- 13:38Speaker 1: the numbers to wide receivers. Uh, that's no longer the case.
- 13:43Speaker 1: On the flip side of it, Yeah, on the flip
- 13:45Speaker 1: side of it, Mike, the Bills had had at a heartbreaker.
- 13:49Speaker 1: You know that that image of Josh Allen with his
- 13:51Speaker 1: head on to his shoulder after the game, just exhausted.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Is that one lasting image for me? Um, that doesn't
- 13:58Speaker 1: involve Ken Dorsey. What are they saying about bouncing back
- 14:01Speaker 1: this week? Well, they want to clean up some things
- 14:03Speaker 1: at the end of the half and at the end
- 14:05Speaker 1: of the game. And when you consider how last season ended,
- 14:09Speaker 1: I hate to bring it up, but you have to
- 14:11Speaker 1: bring it up. The thirteen seconds. This is something that
- 14:14Speaker 1: they know they need to be better at and they
- 14:16Speaker 1: can't afford to have happened. And how this happened in Miami,
- 14:19Speaker 1: not once, but twice is frustrating. Now, look at the
- 14:21Speaker 1: end of the first half, Josh fumbles the snap and
- 14:24Speaker 1: obviously that changes. You can't spike it, you don't get
- 14:26Speaker 1: the field goals attempt off. You're gonna trust the ball
- 14:28Speaker 1: in Josh's hands. It was a mistake, but the end
- 14:31Speaker 1: of the game situation getting it to Mackenzie. And if
- 14:34Speaker 1: you talk to some people within the Bills building, they
- 14:37Speaker 1: don't really love the way that was officiated in the
- 14:39Speaker 1: sense that there was no urgency from the officials. Now
- 14:42Speaker 1: imagine the players being exhausted because of the heat. Maybe
- 14:44Speaker 1: the officials were as well. But they're about eight seconds
- 14:47Speaker 1: left when the official gets the ball and yet they
- 14:49Speaker 1: don't get another snap there. And I think that bothered
- 14:51Speaker 1: them a little bit. But again, no blame. They're just
- 14:54Speaker 1: gonna go back and do what they do and do
- 14:55Speaker 1: it better. And as for the Dorsey thing, McDermott said
- 14:58Speaker 1: yesterday he appreciates his offensive coordinator's passion at his desire
- 15:02Speaker 1: to put his players in good positions to win. At
- 15:04Speaker 1: the same time, I said that as leaders that they
- 15:07Speaker 1: have to act a little bit better as leaders, commented
- 15:14Speaker 1: Brian Baldinger and Mike Giardi, Thank you both. Coming up next,
- 15:19Speaker 1: Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars are playing well. How well,
- 15:24Speaker 1: wait until you see where they are in this week's
- 15:28Speaker 1: New Power rankings. You might be surprised. As Mike Giardi
- 15:38Speaker 1: and as Tom Pellicero have told you, Mac Jones doesn't
- 15:41Speaker 1: necessarily want surgery, and he is seeking a second opinion
- 15:44Speaker 1: here on what is a high ankle sprain. Those are
- 15:48Speaker 1: four week injuries maybe if you have surgery, six to
- 15:51Speaker 1: eight if you don't have surgery. We have the Patriots
- 15:54Speaker 1: going to Lambo to face the Packers this week. Gardy
- 15:58Speaker 1: now with us, it's Brian Hoyer if Mac Jones can't
- 16:01Speaker 1: go at quarterback. It has been a while since Brian
- 16:05Speaker 1: Hoyer has led a team to a victory. It was
- 16:07Speaker 1: checks notes, I believe when he was with the Bears. Yeah,
- 16:12Speaker 1: and look, the Patriots like Brian Hoyer. They keep bringing
- 16:15Speaker 1: him back. He knows the offense. He's been a terrific
- 16:18Speaker 1: mentor for Mac Jones and helped him to adjust with
- 16:21Speaker 1: a lot of things. In fact, Horrier's taking a bigger
- 16:23Speaker 1: role on the sideline as well as an extra set
- 16:26Speaker 1: of eyes for Mac as they go through this change
- 16:28Speaker 1: from Josh McDaniels as the coordinator to Matt Patricia as
- 16:31Speaker 1: the play caller and Joe Judge as the quarterbacks coach.
- 16:34Speaker 1: And you know, talking to the coaches today, they're like, hey,
- 16:37Speaker 1: the intelligence here is off the charts and he always
- 16:39Speaker 1: brings something to the table that maybe we as coaches
- 16:42Speaker 1: don't see, so they feel good about that. But the
- 16:45Speaker 1: last time we saw Brian Hoyer started game for the
- 16:47Speaker 1: Patriots was in year one of COVID. He had to
- 16:50Speaker 1: play for Cam Newton who had COVID, and Brian Horror
- 16:53Speaker 1: struggled mightily in that game. In fact, was replaced by
- 16:55Speaker 1: Jared Stidham. Forgot how many downs they had down on
- 16:58Speaker 1: the red zone cost them points. That was disappointing for
- 17:01Speaker 1: someone with that kind of experience. But again, the Patriots
- 17:03Speaker 1: as a whole do feel good about having him because
- 17:06Speaker 1: he knows the offense. And I'll give you one more thing.
- 17:08Speaker 1: He has dealt with a lot of adversity over the
- 17:10Speaker 1: course of his career, different systems, uh. And there was
- 17:12Speaker 1: some thought this summer that maybe he was the better
- 17:14Speaker 1: looking quarterback between he and Mac Jones, just because he's
- 17:18Speaker 1: been through change before and Mac this is something different
- 17:21Speaker 1: for him and it's taken him a little time to adjust. Interesting.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Brian Hoyer turns thirty seven in two weeks, and honestly,
- 17:27Speaker 1: when Adrian and Research mentioned the last one with the
- 17:29Speaker 1: Bears in twenties sixteen, I had forgotten that he had
- 17:32Speaker 1: ever played six games the Bears. Alright, the flip side
- 17:36Speaker 1: of things, we know that Aaron Rodgers is going to
- 17:39Speaker 1: start for the Green Bay Packers. How's he getting along
- 17:43Speaker 1: with these new wide receivers after what we saw last week?
- 17:46Speaker 1: It is a process for sure, and right you know,
- 17:49Speaker 1: with these veteran quarterbacks, guys like Brady and Rodgers, they
- 17:52Speaker 1: have an expectation that these receivers will be where they're
- 17:55Speaker 1: supposed to be. And obviously that comes with repetition over
- 17:58Speaker 1: and over and over again, and it's difficult it times
- 18:01Speaker 1: to break in these young wide receivers. And you've seen
- 18:04Speaker 1: during the course of the preseason and even during the games,
- 18:07Speaker 1: these rookie receivers have made some mistakes. But Romeo Dubs
- 18:09Speaker 1: in particular, big time performance from him against Tampa Bay.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Eight catches on eight targets and his Karon Rodgers said afterwards,
- 18:17Speaker 1: like looking at it just from field level, he said,
- 18:20Speaker 1: I thought he was where he was supposed to be.
- 18:21Speaker 1: He run ran the right routes and he catches the
- 18:24Speaker 1: ball with his hands. He said, That's one of the
- 18:25Speaker 1: great things about Romeo. He said, I joked with him,
- 18:27Speaker 1: if he lets the ball get in into his pads,
- 18:29Speaker 1: he shouldn't do that because his hands are so good
- 18:31Speaker 1: and he generally catches the ball away from his pads,
- 18:34Speaker 1: So it seems as if there are some confidence building
- 18:36Speaker 1: in that player, and quite frankly, based on how the
- 18:38Speaker 1: preseason went with some of the big players that Romeo
- 18:41Speaker 1: gave him, it makes a lot of sense. Again, just
- 18:43Speaker 1: a matter of consistency for Aaron Rodgers and coaching these
- 18:47Speaker 1: guys up. They'll see some different looks from the Patriots,
- 18:49Speaker 1: but Rogers is feeling better about where they're at and
- 18:52Speaker 1: believes there's obviously and drew a lot of room for improvement. Absolutely,
- 18:55Speaker 1: and we'll see how much they improved in on CBS
- 18:59Speaker 1: from Lambeau coming up on Sunday. Thank you Mike Giardi,
- 19:04Speaker 1: Packer and Patriots reports for what it is worth. The
- 19:06Speaker 1: Packers are up one in the brand new NFL Power rankings.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Dan Hands has puts these together. I believe he did
- 19:15Speaker 1: so from a pub last night in London. I love that.
- 19:19Speaker 1: That's good hand Juice is not here to defend. Maybe
- 19:24Speaker 1: that's too to two pointed plane right walk us through
- 19:29Speaker 1: his power rankings because the Around the NFL podcast is
- 19:33Speaker 1: in London, so Jeff Jadia and Steve White, and I
- 19:36Speaker 1: will now try to figure out what it was Dan
- 19:38Speaker 1: meant by beings. We should point out, Jeff, that Dan
- 19:41Speaker 1: has the Eagles at number one. They're only two remaining
- 19:45Speaker 1: undefeated teams. Do you believe the Eagles are the best
- 19:48Speaker 1: team in football? I will go there right now. Yeah,
- 19:52Speaker 1: Buffalo right now, they're so banged up and having lost
- 19:55Speaker 1: last week. I will stick with Philadelphia. I like what
- 19:58Speaker 1: j That Hurts has done. They're playing phenomenal defense, They've
- 20:01Speaker 1: got great weapons. My only concern here is that the
- 20:05Speaker 1: team is number two is not undefeated, so that that's
- 20:08Speaker 1: why that's why I kind of get on the train
- 20:10Speaker 1: with Damn this one. The Buffalo Bills that number two go. Yeah,
- 20:13Speaker 1: but one thing you see a boy dance, you know list,
- 20:15Speaker 1: He doesn't necessarily go by a record. He kind of
- 20:16Speaker 1: goes by field talent and you know who he believes
- 20:20Speaker 1: and doesn't believe it because, as we'll get to just
- 20:22Speaker 1: a little bit, he thinks there's a trap door waiting
- 20:24Speaker 1: for some of these teams who rose but didn't rise
- 20:26Speaker 1: far enough. But I agree with the Eagles right there
- 20:28Speaker 1: and the Bills at number two. I don't think there's
- 20:29Speaker 1: anything wrong with that, all right, But here's what's tricky here.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Dan always says they're not the power standings, they're the
- 20:34Speaker 1: power rankings. The Dolphins beat the Bills, Steve, the Dolphins
- 20:38Speaker 1: are number three behind. Yeah, I see, And that's clearly
- 20:42Speaker 1: where he's taking the injuries into into account. That's clearly
- 20:46Speaker 1: where he's taking the injuries into account, because Dan is
- 20:49Speaker 1: probably looking when they're playing in Buffalo later this year
- 20:52Speaker 1: to see if that's gonna happen, See what that's gonna
- 20:53Speaker 1: even I'm getting in the mind of Dan Hanson. You
- 20:56Speaker 1: are taking me into dangerous territory right now. He's probably
- 20:59Speaker 1: trying to find Ted last. I'd rather rather then get
- 21:03Speaker 1: into Sessler's head. Well, Jeff, Yeah, I think Dan actually
- 21:08Speaker 1: is Jim Henson, and he's got his hand up Steve's back,
- 21:10Speaker 1: and he's kind of like a muppet right now when
- 21:13Speaker 1: Steve doesn't make no sense to me. I don't know, Bills.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Bills are really banged up right now, just really banged
- 21:22Speaker 1: up right now. It can't be the second best team
- 21:24Speaker 1: to leave you that bangs. Speaking of banged up, um,
- 21:27Speaker 1: the Chargers are banged up that they fell Jeff all
- 21:31Speaker 1: the way down to fifteen, they felt eight spots without Slater,
- 21:35Speaker 1: without Boso, with Herbert banged up. I mean that that
- 21:38Speaker 1: is a big job. If you want to say four
- 21:39Speaker 1: teen teams make the playoffs. The Chargers are now below
- 21:42Speaker 1: the cut line. Well, look, I think the Charge down.
- 21:46Speaker 1: I understand the injury issues here, and they are a
- 21:48Speaker 1: conserved for me right now. And I've been very high
- 21:50Speaker 1: on them with those industries mentioned and justin Herbert being
- 21:53Speaker 1: banged up. But it's hard for me to think that
- 21:56Speaker 1: the Vikings and the Titans are still better teams than
- 22:00Speaker 1: the Charge. Right I don't know how the Titans got
- 22:02Speaker 1: to be twelve, the Charge got to be fifteen. And
- 22:04Speaker 1: so for me, again, I have trouble with this right now.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Some of those guys will come back the charges, they
- 22:09Speaker 1: won't havel, but again, it's that's pretty low for a
- 22:12Speaker 1: team this talent. Yeah, you know, and and and Jeff
- 22:15Speaker 1: you know, wait, Jim Henson, you know your favorite mother,
- 22:20Speaker 1: my favorite mother. I guess kurvit. But Waco walk up.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I mean, but this is the thing right now, why
- 22:27Speaker 1: I think Dan again I'm getting into his head, probably
- 22:29Speaker 1: looks at those Chargers injuries and says, okay, I see
- 22:31Speaker 1: their record, I see their injuries. I'm gonna put them
- 22:33Speaker 1: behind a team like Tennessee that still has got a
- 22:35Speaker 1: ways to go. You know, Tennessee at twelve, I just
- 22:38Speaker 1: saw them. They barely got by a Raiders team that
- 22:41Speaker 1: is winless right now. Um So I think again, that's
- 22:45Speaker 1: where Dan is trying to rationalize some things. I love
- 22:48Speaker 1: playing Dan Hansers right now. I think you should to
- 22:50Speaker 1: rationalize some things right here instead of just looking at
- 22:52Speaker 1: the records and maybe the talent of the team. Okay,
- 22:54Speaker 1: continue to play Dan Hansens and tell me about your Jaguars, Steve.
- 22:57Speaker 1: You've been pounding the table for the Jaguars. They are
- 22:59Speaker 1: up ten to eighteen. Yeah, and aren't they two and one?
- 23:02Speaker 1: Aren't they leading the a f C South at anything
- 23:05Speaker 1: might be the I mean I I probably would have
- 23:08Speaker 1: had them higher. But this is one where Dance not
- 23:10Speaker 1: trusting his eyes and he's trusting his gut, right. This
- 23:14Speaker 1: is one where he's like their trapdoors coming. It's the Jaguars.
- 23:18Speaker 1: You know, I can't well, we won't go there. But
- 23:22Speaker 1: in a situation where you get it's like it's the Jaguars,
- 23:24Speaker 1: I can't rank them too high until they show me
- 23:26Speaker 1: something special, a couple more wins. Yeah, I think Dan
- 23:30Speaker 1: is not trusting as yet. He's trusting as the whiskey
- 23:32Speaker 1: in front of him. I didn't mean it to get
- 23:35Speaker 1: like I'm just saying he's not here with this segment,
- 23:41Speaker 1: with this segment, so I will take a jag I
- 23:43Speaker 1: like the Jaguars a lot. I think that win against
- 23:45Speaker 1: the Chargers and more about the Jaguars being on the
- 23:48Speaker 1: come up than it did about the Chargers being disappointing.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Doug Peterson is doing a great job right now, probably
- 23:54Speaker 1: gonna be in the Coach of the Year conversation if
- 23:57Speaker 1: they continue going the way they're going. The full rankings
- 23:59Speaker 1: rankings at NFL dot com slash Power Rankings. Dan Hansis
- 24:04Speaker 1: is back. I think next week to explain. I don't know,
- 24:07Speaker 1: you can't get up, and it's not personal. I don't think.
- 24:14Speaker 1: We just tried to figure out the rankings. They got
- 24:17Speaker 1: WiFi and pubs in London. I know he can get
- 24:20Speaker 1: on this, you know. I know. As we continue to
- 24:22Speaker 1: celebrate Latino Heritage Month, here we share the accomplishments of
- 24:27Speaker 1: this guy. Broncos linebacker Nick Bonito. Nick Bonito, the sixty
- 24:32Speaker 1: four overall pick in the second round of the NFL Draft,
- 24:37Speaker 1: Nick Benito. Part of Latin Heritage Month here on NFL Network.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Time for one more thing before we go with Jeff
- 24:45Speaker 1: shitty A going first, Andrew, as a current resident of
- 24:49Speaker 1: the Kansas City area, I'm going to defend the a
- 24:52Speaker 1: f C East. They're taking way too much abuse. Yeah,
- 24:55Speaker 1: they've been a little bit disappointing to start the year.
- 24:57Speaker 1: It's still going to be the best division of football
- 25:00Speaker 1: by the end of the season. THEFC West. We give
- 25:02Speaker 1: it all the off season hype here, so maybe it'll
- 25:05Speaker 1: get their baldy. One more thing, Andrew, let me give
- 25:08Speaker 1: you some shout out rookie love to Texans safety second
- 25:11Speaker 1: round pick Jalen Petrie for the best rookie performance I've
- 25:15Speaker 1: seen of any player so far in the first three weeks.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Two interceptions, fumble recovery, a sack, to tackle for losses,
- 25:21Speaker 1: eight tackles and oh, by the way, he has played
- 25:24Speaker 1: all two thirty five snaps for the Texans so far
- 25:27Speaker 1: this season. He looks good. I saw him in the preseason. Obviously,
- 25:29Speaker 1: he lives in the backfield that role the ad at
- 25:31Speaker 1: Baylor more of a star position guy, but he had
- 25:33Speaker 1: the two picks, so I don't think he can't drop
- 25:36Speaker 1: him coverage as well. Mike Giardi. One more thing, do
- 25:40Speaker 1: we have a quarterback controversy in Dallas? Just consider this.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Scooper Rush is the first undrafted quarterback to win his
- 25:46Speaker 1: first three starts ro for over seven hundred fifty yards
- 25:51Speaker 1: since one Kurt Warner. Kurt went on to win the
- 25:54Speaker 1: Super Bowl that season. Just just saying, are you really,
- 25:59Speaker 1: Mike saying that we have a quarterback? The facts of Facts.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Let's revisit next week. Revisit next week. You know we're
- 26:09Speaker 1: just crazy. That's a facts guy. Facts. NFL Now is
