- 0:32podcast. I'm your host, Michael
- 0:33Greenfield and with me today is a special Co host.
- 0:37Rib you see. Churns, how are you?
- 0:38Rib you see what episode was it that you were on our podcast?
- 0:41Do you remember? It's none of your business.
- 0:44I think it was like the 3rd or 4th.
- 0:45The 3rd or 4th and and can you tell the difference?
- 0:48Well, right away when I walked and I see it's on the opposite
- 0:50side of the room. Everything was switched over and
- 0:53now it's like chairs. It's this is this is the way a
- 0:55podcast is supposed to be? I feel like I need her do over
- 0:57you. Know what this could be your
- 0:59semi do over. And today we have with us, you
- 1:02know, she likes to say this word and I'm going to use it.
- 1:03The venerable, the incredible, the quality human being of a
- 1:07person of Shimmy J. And I say Reb because I've
- 1:10learned so much from you and I'm so excited to have you here.
- 1:13Welcome, Shimmy. Thank you, Michael.
- 1:14I appreciate it. By the way, my last name is
- 1:16Jacob Witz for people that don't know, but Jay is short because
- 1:20Jacob Witz is like, very mouthfully.
- 1:22Is there another last name that you think anyone would have
- 1:24thought it was? I mean, I think like everyone
- 1:26knows, it's not just. Jacobson.
- 1:28Jacobson. OK.
- 1:30Good 1A singer Mendy Jay and he's is it.
- 1:32Yeah, I always thought there you go.
- 1:34That's 'cause Shimmy already took Jay as the names like some
- 1:39J means Shimmy Jay. Everybody knows that.
- 1:41A big shout out to all of our followers and thank God, I say
- 1:44this to she every week in the past 3-4 weeks that we've been
- 1:46growing. And it's kind of astonishing to
- 1:49see like, you know, growth in social media world means just
- 1:52numbers. But to us, it means people
- 1:54talking about it and just seeing us on the streets and seeing
- 1:57what a beautiful guest you had and what a great story you had
- 2:00and what an impact it had in my life.
- 2:01And I just heard your first podcast.
- 2:03Oh my God, that's you. And it's been incredible.
- 2:05So that's why I picked that word for today.
- 2:07And thank you to Prime Source again, our sponsors.
- 2:10I mentioned it earlier before we officially started, but I want
- 2:12to mention it again. Thank you to the team of Prime
- 2:14Source, Prime Source production team.
- 2:16Stephen Will Stephen, by the way, is not just the men behind
- 2:19the scenes. He's literally the guy running
- 2:20the show, so he'll have ChatGPT up in a minute.
- 2:23Shimmy if you have any questions for him on the screen.
- 2:26Where's the screen? Over there.
- 2:27Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, we took a pager from
- 2:30other podcasters, learning what to do, what not to do.
- 2:34Let's get started, if you don't mind.
- 2:37You know, I, I appreciate you being here so much on a much of
- 2:39Shabbos. But I first want to say, what
- 2:41are you so busy with that? It's got to be like, you know of
- 2:45a subunnam time, like you know what's going on.
- 2:48Normally on a regular weekend, yeah, on a on a month of Shabbos
- 2:51or on a during the week. Why I was I so busy?
- 2:531st I want to know tonight what happened like what's the night?
- 2:55No, no tonight you, you got freed.
- 2:57You got freed. What's on a normal months of
- 2:58Shabbos is what I'm asking. You normal to Shabbos?
- 3:00I'm usually at home. I like going, just spend time at
- 3:04home with the family, gets to sleep and get an early night
- 3:07because people don't realize that your whole week depends on
- 3:11your weekend. If your weekend is restful, you
- 3:14have a restful week. People have this thing.
- 3:17Saturday night, you go out, I'm gonna have a good time, meet
- 3:20with friends. You know, it's for me.
- 3:22I like to go to early night, then have a good Sunday and then
- 3:25the week is really good. I gotta be.
- 3:26Honest with you it's more meaningful for me now that
- 3:28you're here I'm sorry I thought you sorry I thought you doing
- 3:30comes it isn't parties and fundraisers and Thursday hanging
- 3:33out with. Thursday night is my Mata
- 3:35Chavez. There you go.
- 3:36Okay. Thursday night on the Mata
- 3:38Chavez. Okay, it's good to know.
- 3:39So I really appreciate it. Of course I wanna hear about
- 3:41everything you're busy with in general, but before we do for
- 3:44our audience, we have this thing we do called ChatGPT, said.
- 3:47What about you? Oh boy.
- 3:49So did you ever do it on yourself?
- 3:51To be honest, I. Have googled it, not ChatGPT
- 3:53really. Yes.
- 3:54OK, so I'm I'm getting ready to start and.
- 3:57Starting to sweat? Stefan just printed this out for
- 4:00me two minutes ago so it's fresh hot off the press.
- 4:03Literally Shimmy J just doesn't do chesed.
- 4:08He accidentally sponsors ACM every time he checks his phone.
- 4:11You're joking? No, you said that or you just
- 4:14wrote that. I might be telling Chad GBT what
- 4:18to say, but. But.
- 4:19I mean, what's what's that about?
- 4:21What's going on there? Are you, are you sponsoring CMS?
- 4:23Are you ACM guy? So it.
- 4:23Happens to be that This is funny.
- 4:26A bunch of years ago I got these.
- 4:28I'll start getting these calls. Spam calls from Bachmann
- 4:31Aristora asking me to sponsor the CMS and this it was like AI
- 4:36think they got a list of a lot of guys who give Tadaka and they
- 4:40would call and ask the sponsor CM and I got down to the bottom
- 4:43of it. I was doing a whole like
- 4:44investigation who this person was finally got his name and I
- 4:48got him to agree to come to Lakewood.
- 4:49He actually lived in Lakewood. He came home from Beta's modem
- 4:51and I said if you tell me who you are, I will actually sponsor
- 4:54the CM and we went and it actually was a beautiful CM.
- 4:58We got you who the green we got delicious.
- 5:00I think a lot bite. We had like 100 Bachram singing
- 5:03and dancing and it was an amazing experience.
- 5:05So that's how when it started, I think it was the last one I did
- 5:08because then I got every Bachar was decided.
- 5:10Clearly not. Why it says that this is what
- 5:13you do? I did it once.
- 5:15OK, you know if you I'm, I'm assuming that was the beginning
- 5:18of it. That was the beginning.
- 5:20But no. But I I think when it comes to
- 5:21the Bacharam, it's a very unique way to deal with bacharam
- 5:26nowadays. I think us growing up, like we
- 5:28were not even afterthought, like the Balbatan didn't even look at
- 5:32the Bahram. I think the Bahram nowadays need
- 5:34a lot more attention. And I think yes, and I'm sure
- 5:38yourself and me for sure, I like to give a lot of special time to
- 5:41the Bahram because they are the future and we're in a
- 5:43generation. We are our future is so
- 5:46important. And if you don't give the time
- 5:47to the kids and the Bahram, they feel left down.
- 5:50They feel terrible about themselves.
- 5:52So I make it a real, real emphasis to give buckram when I
- 5:56see them at a wedding, give them a hug, take a selfie with them.
- 5:59Make them feel special instead of being about boss like I'm
- 6:02too. I can't talk to the younger
- 6:04generation. I like try to bring them.
- 6:06Buckram is based madrich age. I'm sorry.
- 6:09Balkan could be anywhere between teenage grade and teenage BMG.
- 6:12But so for those non Jews listening, yeah Balkarim is
- 6:15teenage teenage boys, but that are studying and learning,
- 6:18talking. Shimmy is also very, very
- 6:19approachable. You know, he's something that
- 6:21people feel comfortable to go to.
- 6:22I'll tell you just personally, I, I, you know, my son told me
- 6:25that he had a business idea and he called up Shimmy and, or he
- 6:27texted the guy speak to you right away.
- 6:29Shimmy said. Oh are you?
- 6:30Is this like an ask for charity? How old was he?
- 6:34No. It was a year ago.
- 6:35How old's your kid? I was a kid. 24 years.
- 6:37Old. Oh, OK.
- 6:38So, so he said, no, it's not because wow, you're probably the
- 6:41first person who was like asking to speak to me.
- 6:44And it's not for a charity cause.
- 6:46And it was a business thing. And I don't know what it even
- 6:47was. What this I don't know.
- 6:48It was. Like a real estate idea.
- 6:49Yeah. But the point though, is that.
- 6:51He wanted to bring to the healthcare space.
- 6:52The point, though, is that Shimmy takes these calls from
- 6:55these people, so, you know, yeah, he was joking.
- 6:57What is it 'cause he assumes most of them are for charity or
- 6:59see him or something, but he's approachable.
- 7:02Like my son was comfortable to call him because he's someone
- 7:05who's not going to hang up on you.
- 7:06He's not going to make you feel stupid that you called him.
- 7:08He's going to give you the time of day.
- 7:09And he's he's very, very approachable.
- 7:11What's? His cell phone number.
- 7:12I'm sorry. 732 none of your business had to get it in.
- 7:18By the way, you only got one in episode, so you're done.
- 7:20By the way, done. It's like he's very
- 7:22approachable. Yeah, Yeah, you're done.
- 7:24Now, the fact that you're approachable and thank you for
- 7:26saying that story because it's it literally triggered me a
- 7:28memory of us being younger. We're similar age and when we
- 7:32grew up as Bahram teenagers, right.
- 7:34I think that what I remember is the people that didn't behave
- 7:38got all the attention and you know, like it, it was a
- 7:41transition like, you know, I didn't have that, but I saw that
- 7:44the next generation had that. And I think that now the ones
- 7:47that are behaving are getting attention from Someone Like You.
- 7:50It's a really nice thing, right, right.
- 7:52That's what that's what that's the way I'm looking at it.
- 7:54Like you're giving positive attention to the ones that are
- 7:55doing well, the ones that are behaving, of course.
- 7:57Now, by the way, thank you Tsvi Glock, thank you Sonny Perlman,
- 8:00thank you Gadalia Fenster and everyone for what you're doing
- 8:03and, you know, and, and carrying that.
- 8:05But there's so much weight that's there for regular boys,
- 8:08even girls, obviously you know that.
- 8:10Just need a place to chill 100. Percent maybe?
- 8:12Uplift, chill, need a hug? Obviously in the most
- 8:15appropriate ways. Most people get a random text
- 8:18and ignore it. Jimmy gets a random text and
- 8:20turns it into a hundred person comes it's.
- 8:23I don't know where this is taking it from, but.
- 8:24He's not writing this himself. Yeah, he's come from Chachi PT.
- 8:27You're yeah, that's crazy. Just I I just put this in Chachi
- 8:31PT 17 minutes ago. That's crazy.
- 8:34What what's the story with comes like UC and I are both obviously
- 8:37comes as fans. I I guess that means you are
- 8:39also do you do large what you sponsor large ones?
- 8:41What's the deal? So I think it's coming from
- 8:43Pesach. This past year I was in Orlando
- 8:45and we had just wanted to hang out with the guys We.
- 8:50You built your own program. I basically built my own program
- 8:52but it was like the music part and the cums part was by
- 8:55mistake. Like I didn't invite anyone.
- 8:57I invited like a few friends and then one guy Bucker came or
- 9:01teenager kid came and he invited his friends and by the 4th night
- 9:05we had like 200 people rocking. I send you footage that you
- 9:09could like upload. These is it fair to say that
- 9:11that was like your coming out party to like the next level?
- 9:14To the next level could be, but I think yeah, could be.
- 9:18In other words, that. You know my birthday.
- 9:20No. Well, I knew you told me.
- 9:21Actually, I, you know. I know you for years.
- 9:24I know you. Different stages of your life,
- 9:26you know. The Kaplan boy, how back how
- 9:29back are we going by the? Way not for me as a kid, not
- 9:31when he was a kid. He was in Lake when I was in
- 9:32when. He was a bucker.
- 9:33But he was a bucker. Then he got married.
- 9:35By the way, look at that. We both right.
- 9:37We both were married to a Cleveland girl.
- 9:38Both Cleveland. Like he married someone from
- 9:40Cleveland's first wife and I'm my wife's from Cleveland.
- 9:43I knew who he was. Then he started to get involved
- 9:45in SHADO him. I knew then who you know my wife
- 9:47is involved in SHADO him right and then I really got to know
- 9:50him when I was involved with gateways at that point, I don't
- 9:52know if I still I think I'm still working there and used to
- 9:55comprehensive and used to Rosh Hashanah, Rosh Hashanah Schwiss
- 9:58at that point, I don't think you were sitting at my table yet,
- 10:00but I think after what I would come back already when I was on
- 10:03his board. Then you start to sit at my
- 10:04table different bottle every time a tequila you introduced me
- 10:07to that tequila with the with the silver.
- 10:09That's right, but to me it was always I know he was always a
- 10:15great guy and I always thought of you as successful and and it
- 10:18was only recently I was sitting with you by a wedding and you
- 10:20told me no, no, that was the fake it till you make it days.
- 10:23Now. Then there was something that
- 10:24was a transition. I got into other things and you
- 10:27know I'm here. So that's my question if like
- 10:30your real coming out party to the world was, I saw the clips
- 10:35on pace. I saw them.
- 10:36They were all over the place. They look great.
- 10:37But I always thought that you were doing these things because
- 10:40you're always flying to get always courtside, right?
- 10:42You're always courtside within the games.
- 10:44You know, this wasn't your first time flying private.
- 10:46Probably you flew private before that.
- 10:48No, probably so but, but this was the first time that I
- 10:52actually saw that you was out there like that, right.
- 10:55And and and I knew a lot of the cast that you had there and a
- 10:58lot of the cast had been in my house and they're not guys who
- 11:00are paying their way. So, so no good guys, but.
- 11:03By the way, yes, he's paying attention.
- 11:05You're saying So he's been paying attention to your life.
- 11:07I watched the compliment. But I didn't know.
- 11:08But you know, it's not like I thought anything changed.
- 11:10I thought this is how you always, always.
- 11:12To me, that's all you always. Happens to be it was.
- 11:13I think the generation is just getting more WhatsApp and people
- 11:16are posting more. It just was less.
- 11:18It was less out there, right? But I don't think that was the
- 11:20first time that I've done such things.
- 11:22I think really, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 11:23I think it just got more out. There, but it was very out there
- 11:25and I also saw the cast of characters there who I know that
- 11:28look, they were just probably looking for a great show that
- 11:30that doesn't cost them and it was an.
- 11:32Open house policy. And then I was thinking, how do
- 11:33I get on this list? I like to go back on what he
- 11:37said a minute ago. The whole fake it till you make
- 11:38it thing is that was that part of your life.
- 11:41I think it was a subconscious thing.
- 11:43I don't know if I had a plan, like let's fake it.
- 11:45The whole sensible marketing of, you know, we're, I'm a marketing
- 11:48company. That's how I started.
- 11:50You know, my first company was sensible marketing and marketing
- 11:53is about, you know, portraying an image.
- 11:57Now, obviously sometimes you have to embellish or be more out
- 12:01there, sponsor things, even if you have to take out a loan And
- 12:04but you still part that's part of growth, part part of growing
- 12:07a business. And I think I did a lot of, you
- 12:10know, out there things before I was able to afford it, but then
- 12:14after doing it consistently for so, so, so, so long, it ended up
- 12:18working out and, you know, the right.
- 12:20Thing sounds more like you, the right thing, you.
- 12:21Manifested, manifested it, and really like the right
- 12:24opportunity started coming when the platform was built.
- 12:26Would you say that the opportunities came because you
- 12:28had this marketing? 100%, one million percent, I
- 12:31don't think that I will be able to sit there again.
- 12:33It's all from a sham. But I think the the style of
- 12:35this part was having the platform of sensible marketing,
- 12:38so people who all the opportunities were able to come
- 12:40and also doing the sponsorships. A lot of people want to be
- 12:43connected to positive things. When you sponsor a song from
- 12:46Matt Dub, I sponsored his song. People saw this guy's doing
- 12:51good. I sponsored a see him that's
- 12:53doing good again. Was I faking it?
- 12:55I really wanted to do it, but doing the good came back 10 or
- 13:00100. I'm shocked by the way I never
- 13:02heard in my life, and I'm proud of you, of someone who takes a
- 13:04loan to sponsor something which means it's so meaningful.
- 13:07If I took a loan or something but OK, I took a loan to hire
- 13:10people I. Think OK, it's not a crazy idea
- 13:12though. Right, but I took a loan to
- 13:13grow. We built the brand and 100% sure
- 13:15and I will say it till today, people out there be responsible
- 13:18if you. Take cameras right there.
- 13:19Be responsible if you're taking a loan, but if you have the
- 13:21right hedgeman and the right idea, don't be scared.
- 13:25Just make sure you pay it back. Everybody knows about sensible
- 13:27marketing. No, actually, that's the next
- 13:29thing on Chachi Peti. His business is called Sensible
- 13:33because apparently ridiculously successful and still ate Sadiq
- 13:36was taken. This was Chachi Peti.
- 13:40Tell me about sensible When did you start?
- 13:42What is sensible? Let's go back a little bit.
- 13:45Let's learn a little bit about you and take a pause on this.
- 13:46ChatGPT is a lot of exciting things.
- 13:48They were. Like you guys wrote this out,
- 13:49this is. Not chat.
- 13:50You can check it out on this. Phone unbelievable.
- 13:52I love it. It's I'm.
- 13:52Gonna ChatGPT after. This obviously just for those
- 13:55who are wondering because I've gotten this question a few
- 13:57times. I've told ChatGPT make it
- 13:59punchy, make it interesting, smart and funny.
- 14:02That's it. And I rely on it and I read it
- 14:04out right as a print it. Yeah.
- 14:05So it's just. So sensible marketing was an
- 14:08idea. I was started off at a company
- 14:10called Ditmus Park Rehab. I know Ditmus Park Park, the
- 14:13Strikers, the Ober Ober Zimberlanders, Oberlanders.
- 14:17OK. Actually, I have to go back.
- 14:18I started off with first with Kenny Rosenberg and Moshe
- 14:21Edelman back in amazing home care.
- 14:24That's when I got into. Health.
- 14:25I asked Kenny to come on the podcast, by the way.
- 14:26Yeah. And he says, me, what's a
- 14:28podcast? I'm like you're kidding.
- 14:30We'll do it if you do it on a loud.
- 14:31Maybe he would come. I wish.
- 14:32I, I hosted you for a shrewess and at that point you weren't in
- 14:34healthcare. In fact, I was in foreclosures
- 14:37then and you were talking, we were talking about maybe in
- 14:39Texas to do something together in foreclosures.
- 14:40At that point, you weren't doing healthcare yet.
- 14:42So I started off selling baby strollers.
- 14:44There we go. I was this real, I swear.
- 14:47Oh, I was when I left yeshiva I started off doing.
- 14:52The first job, the. First job Heskey Stanger saw me
- 14:56in Starbucks and he said to me do you want to come work for me
- 14:58doing short sales? This is like a 2011 maybe 12 and
- 15:04I went and banged out on the phone calling people in pre
- 15:06foreclosure and got like 100 listings.
- 15:09We sold a bunch of houses. How many calls a day?
- 15:125060 calls a day with Nexus, Lexus, whatever it's called
- 15:14Nexus that you could get, Nexus, whatever that call we would call
- 15:17people. By the way, dangerous.
- 15:19Very dangerous. Nobody should get a hold of
- 15:21that. I mean, like, it's a payable
- 15:23thing that attorneys use. Yes.
- 15:25That tells you your neighbors how much their income is.
- 15:27And really, Yeah, it's, it's crazy.
- 15:29Telephone number and their house number.
- 15:30And. Maybe how much?
- 15:32There were systems back then that would tell you, and I'm
- 15:35sure it's still existed. I've seen with my own eyes, you
- 15:37put in an address and it tells you all your neighbors Social
- 15:39Security numbers, date of births, children, annual well
- 15:42income. Crazy, crazy stuff.
- 15:44This is 20 years ago, but anyways, go.
- 15:46Ahead, I would start off at Westmark Realty.
- 15:47I did that for a year or two and then.
- 15:50How much did you? Make getting to draw $500 a draw
- 15:53a week, $500 a week a draw and. You were married at the time.
- 15:57No single OK. No, it's his first job.
- 15:59First job out of out of Kylo. I think I was learning half.
- 16:02Today, I'm sorry, you're you're we'll get back to it later, But
- 16:04your lifestyle is yeshivish. That's how you grew up.
- 16:06I grew up yeshivish. Lakewood yes, OK, $500 a week.
- 16:10The problem was that when I closed the deal, I had to go
- 16:13towards the draw. So I felt like I was never
- 16:15making money because I was just basically always paying back the
- 16:18draw. So that's when I went.
- 16:19I said I wanted a nine to five job.
- 16:21I went to work at this place called Pettishore doing cold
- 16:25calling every veterinarian, veterinarian in the country.
- 16:28Do you want to buy pet insurance?
- 16:29And after seven days I was ready to jump off a roof.
- 16:32So I said I'm out, I'm not going to be here.
- 16:34And I went to work for a guy named Bernard Warman at a place
- 16:36called Pish Posh Baby, and I was selling strollers, baby
- 16:39strollers. Retail in a store.
- 16:41We were online, so harder off. I was imagining pregnant women
- 16:45coming in no first. It was like the first online.
- 16:48It was like, you know, we did a lot of.
- 16:50Like Amazon type of stuff. But no, it was direct from Pitch
- 16:52Watch baby. But we would like get the all
- 16:54the the all the, you know, mommy.
- 16:56So they were an established company and you were coming in
- 16:58and helping them? I was.
- 16:59There doing got it keep going and product development OK and
- 17:01in six months I was there having a great time working hard making
- 17:04salary 6 grand a year thank you felt like I was AI love how
- 17:07you're. Reading my mind by the way,
- 17:08answer the question as I'm having.
- 17:09It's great, great synergy. That's Michael.
- 17:12That's why you are good at what you do, because you're doing
- 17:15this at enough times you already know your.
- 17:16People, I've been doing this for 47 years, yes.
- 17:20Literally 47, yeah. Because without lights and
- 17:22cameras, Parcosham continue. And you lost a lot of weight.
- 17:26Thank God, thank God. When I hit three O 1, that's
- 17:28when you went. That's when I put the balls
- 17:29behind my ears. But that's a separate.
- 17:31Story The balls behind the ears. Yes, yes, I've been rubbing my
- 17:33balls for six months straight and it helped me lose 62 lbs and
- 17:37then I lost my gallbladder. But literally it's another
- 17:39story. Thank you for that.
- 17:40Because I owned that company, I promise some partners.
- 17:42With Satkin, yeah, you see, you know, I he's a partner, you see,
- 17:46by the way, you see is right. We got to have him back on the
- 17:48podcast, you see. Shimmy's a Co host.
- 17:51Alcohol you by the way, No problem.
- 17:52OK, Done, committed, committed, done.
- 17:54Great. You see the rest of that?
- 17:57No, no, I want the Thursday night.
- 18:00We'll do a comesis and then. Followed by a podcast.
- 18:02We can see him with this. I think the amazing, I think the
- 18:05amazing part of the three of us just sitting here is that we all
- 18:07know that in exactly 1 hour we're getting up and we're going
- 18:10to have a Comesis all night celebrating Shabbos of Arkham.
- 18:14I love him. Alka Leyland is my mother, my
- 18:17father. It's her birthday.
- 18:18It's the highest. Sorry, that was her name, but
- 18:20anyways, continue. So basically Pitch Bash baby was
- 18:23great. I was dating a girl at the time
- 18:25and she said to me, you have more potential than sitting
- 18:28behind the desk selling baby strollers.
- 18:29Maybe you should go meet with Moshe Edelman, my
- 18:31brother-in-law, and get an interview.
- 18:34Hired me on the spot. Six months doing home care
- 18:37sales. I went for a raise.
- 18:39I was making 40 grand. I went from 36 grand to 40 grand
- 18:41and I was a real good view. I got an Avalon and.
- 18:43Loved the Avalon paid by the company.
- 18:45No. Paid by you.
- 18:47That's the cheap Lexus, by the way.
- 18:49They tell me no raise, I said. What do you mean?
- 18:52I wish I wanted a couple, you know, extra.
- 18:53Fun we do well, I'm. Doing very well.
- 18:55I should have gotten a raise. They didn't want to give me a
- 18:57raise. And then Abe Krauss and Ellie
- 18:58Frankel hired me. I knew it extended care.
- 19:00No way. Yes, Brahmi and Ellie.
- 19:02Brahmi and Ellie amazing their. First thing and I had no idea
- 19:05how to market a nursing home. No idea.
- 19:07Hold on a second. That's where we probably first
- 19:09met. I, I did all the purchasing with
- 19:10them for when the Panets were there.
- 19:12I did it and then when they sold it to them, I took over and
- 19:15that's when I got to meet those two amazing people.
- 19:17By the way, love them each and. A funny story, and I say this
- 19:20over a lot, I was working in the air.
- 19:22They gave me even more. I got 80 grand salary and six
- 19:26months in I've got the census up 10%.
- 19:28I learned the business on the fly and no idea what I was
- 19:30doing, but I googled what's short term care, long term care,
- 19:33what's a what's a referral And then Abe and he takes credit
- 19:37till today he called me up. He said, Shimmy, are you in the
- 19:41hospital? I said I'm on the way to the
- 19:42hospital. He saw me in the pizza shop
- 19:44eating lunch. I was leaving to go to the
- 19:45hospital. He said you're fired and he
- 19:48fired me. And since and then from that I
- 19:51went on to the miss. Park Did I miss something?
- 19:52What's in the hospital? No, no what?
- 19:54Happened wondering if I was rounding in the hospital.
- 19:56I'm like, what? Did something happen to you?
- 19:58OK, OK, I was. Getting lunch.
- 19:59But he felt that I wasn't, he thought.
- 20:00He was lying to him. He thought I wasn't being
- 20:02truthful and I was in the I said I'm on the way to the hospital.
- 20:04I was middle eating lunch. I was on the way.
- 20:06Fired me till today. He takes credit, he said.
- 20:09If I didn't fire you, you still be at the Newark extended care
- 20:12making 80 grand a year. Ah, that's.
- 20:14Great. I've heard you in the past say
- 20:16this story, but you've said it better.
- 20:18See now you said you were actually on the way to the
- 20:19hospital and the other ones. No, he didn't.
- 20:21He said I'm getting ready to go. Getting ready to go.
- 20:24The way I've heard you say in the past, you're saying that,
- 20:26you know, look, you know, I actually was it was, you know, I
- 20:29was taking it easy and I was doing it and and he he caught me
- 20:33and but but you what you were saying in the the point was that
- 20:36you never know what you think is the worst thing in the world.
- 20:38You imagine him after, you know, he was caught in a lie, right?
- 20:41We've all done this, right. Where are you at different
- 20:44levels of your life? You know you have a boss and.
- 20:46By the way, in his mind, it's not a lie.
- 20:47I have friends that tell me this whole time I'm on the way to the
- 20:49hospital. I'm eating, but I'm on the way.
- 20:51I'm saying to me like, I've done this myself and I would think
- 20:54I'm lying, you know? But why?
- 20:55Because I have my own country by this side, right?
- 20:57You don't pay me by the hour, you pay me to get the job done.
- 20:59I have a full day in. I'm taking my time eating lunch
- 21:01and I don't need to micromanage me.
- 21:03And you're asking me questions. Oh yeah, I'm working right.
- 21:06And happens to be he caught him and he caught him not.
- 21:09But what he thought probably at that point was like the worst
- 21:12moment of his life that I just went from strollers at 36,000.
- 21:16I worked my way up to 80,000 now.
- 21:18And now. And now it's all gone.
- 21:19Pay the Avalon bill, right, It's all.
- 21:21Gone. That was your biggest.
- 21:22That really was your biggest. Blessing.
- 21:23It was really rough, but it was the biggest blessing because
- 21:25that Nathan Freund. Told me to tell me what
- 21:28happened. Nothing.
- 21:29He fired me. What'd you do?
- 21:31Six weeks. What'd you do?
- 21:32What'd you do? He lied, I get it.
- 21:33What did you do after he fired you?
- 21:35How did you find another job? I.
- 21:36Started telling you, Yeah. Nathan Freund called me up.
- 21:40My uncle Yossi Bernfeld. You not understand what I'm
- 21:43asking. You get fired and you're sitting
- 21:46there in middle of your lunch and you're eating.
- 21:48What did you do? Oh, right after.
- 21:49That what? How was your life like?
- 21:51You just got fired bro. Probably went home and cried a
- 21:53little bit, maybe slid on the couch.
- 21:55I don't know. I was on it was it was a rough.
- 21:58Time I'd like to talk about it. OK, I wanna hear.
- 22:00I wonder the exact it happens it people get fired and it happens
- 22:03and I'm saying the way you recover is everything right So.
- 22:05So that's what I wanna. One thing I gotta say, they gave
- 22:07me 6 weeks pay. OK, I knew I had six weeks to
- 22:10deal with it. Got it.
- 22:11So I wasn't. But I remember going home and
- 22:12being very sad. Talk to my father about it and
- 22:15right away I went into mode let's let's go what's the next
- 22:18thing so my. So you reached out to Nathan
- 22:20Freund. Uncle told me Nathan Freund is
- 22:21looking for a marketer. He went.
- 22:24And good for you, by the way. It took you minutes, you cried,
- 22:26and then you got back on the horse.
- 22:27And you. That's what I'm saying.
- 22:28That's what I wanted to hear. Yeah, that's what I was curious.
- 22:30We didn't get into a hole. That's what I'm saying, yes.
- 22:33But when I got divorced, I was also very, very down.
- 22:35I don't even know that you were divorced, and I'd love to get
- 22:37into that. So we'll talk about.
- 22:39Let's go back now. We're going to go through the
- 22:40timeline. Continue.
- 22:41Yeah. This is after my divorce that.
- 22:43Was already after you so. After my divorce, we.
- 22:45Was learning. He was still learning while he
- 22:46was married. OK, I didn't realize.
- 22:47OK, continue. Yeah.
- 22:48Yeah. So you were in Kyla?
- 22:49I was. In Kyla for four years, I looked
- 22:51I. Learned.
- 22:52How did you skip that? We were in pitch.
- 22:53Bosh, Where was this? I'm in Kaplan and then I.
- 22:56Looked in Long Beach. I looked.
- 22:57Oh, after Kyla, your first job was a 30,000?
- 22:59I thought you were a buckler to work in.
- 23:01No, no, no, Kylo. Guys, I'm not a liquid guy.
- 23:06I honestly, one of the main reasons why I appreciate that
- 23:09you're here is I, you know, people don't really know this,
- 23:12but I, I, they'll realize it subconsciously once a month.
- 23:15I have a healthcare guest. It's just automatic.
- 23:18And because we put it in our newsletter and we want the
- 23:20newsletter to be healthcare related, the other three weeks
- 23:23are playful. Like I can get whoever I want
- 23:25when you know, someone in my space, my energy, it could be a
- 23:27baseball player, could be a therapist, it could be a, you
- 23:29know, Tadaka collector for like here, someone who's interesting.
- 23:32I've never had Lakewood and I've been thinking about Lakewood for
- 23:35a long time. I don't know Lakewood.
- 23:36I don't understand it. I don't get it it.
- 23:38I'm not from there. I grew up in Brooklyn.
- 23:40I'm Israelis, half Israeli. I live in Muncie, so I don't get
- 23:44Lakewood. So I always wanted you to be
- 23:45here. So to me, this is like a, a, a
- 23:47Grand Slam because I got you here.
- 23:49Healthcare, your healthcare, your Lakewood.
- 23:51You're friends with me, and you see you're in.
- 23:53And it's the fun. Also the rest of the three
- 23:55weeks. I'm sorry, I didn't mean, I
- 23:57didn't mean to interrupt, but I just want you to know.
- 23:58So I don't really know. So I really know.
- 23:59So I really want to go back to that for 10 seconds.
- 24:01Just tell me who How are you? You were in Kylo, OK.
- 24:04So that's the the the 32nd. Yeah, please.
- 24:06Yeah. But it just got back to where we
- 24:07were. But.
- 24:07Jakowitz was born in Lakewood, went to Long Beach to Shiva,
- 24:11went to Hemi Kaplan. These are got.
- 24:13Married. Went to.
- 24:14We'll get back to it later, but continue.
- 24:16Yeah. Went to Central Miami's Kylo,
- 24:17came back to BMG, learned to BMG, was a shotsman for 18
- 24:20months, made 36. Got divorced, Went to pitch Bosh
- 24:24baby. Beautiful.
- 24:26Thank you. No, I really appreciate that.
- 24:27We'll get back to it later. So continue now.
- 24:29So that's the Nathan Freund. Nathan Freund gave me a great
- 24:31opportunity. He gave me a signing bonus.
- 24:33He really taught me the ropes on.
- 24:37The another super duper guy by the great guy.
- 24:39Nathan, shout out to Nathan Freund, you're the best.
- 24:41Thank you for everything, really.
- 24:42So he really taught me the business.
- 24:45We went to the hospitals together and we became like this
- 24:48team. We turned it Miss Park from a,
- 24:51you know, oh. He was the administrator
- 24:52administrator at Miss Park. Yeah, so we.
- 24:55My goodness guys, for those of you that don't know the nursing
- 24:57home industry, you have to understand this is a young
- 24:59administrator working for a Hasidasha family in Borough Park
- 25:03who owned one nursing home. It's their prized possession and
- 25:06they've had that facility for 100 years, probably passed down
- 25:09generations. Promised 3000.
- 25:11Years and Nathan Freund was yet a another administrator.
- 25:14This facility went through administrators every two years.
- 25:16So Nathan Forint comes in, he's another administrator and he
- 25:18hires you for marketing. Suddenly the Dream Team is being
- 25:21created in Borough Park. Unbelievable.
- 25:24Did Miss Park continue? Yes.
- 25:26So we crushed it. We did like a year and a half,
- 25:28two years together. How much money did you make for
- 25:30them? A lot.
- 25:31I want to know numbers. We went from I don't know the
- 25:33exact numbers. Tell me how many Medicare
- 25:35patients? We went from 20 Medicare's when
- 25:37we came, when we came in with like 30 open beds to 80
- 25:40Medicares with the waiting limit.
- 25:41Yeah. So you do the numbers.
- 25:43No, no, no. Do the numbers, please.
- 25:45I want you to do well. You know Medicare.
- 25:47How much Medicare? I'll tell you.
- 25:48Know how to fill beds and service.
- 25:49No, stop it. You must know that Medicare is 3
- 25:52times as much as Medicaid, right?
- 25:54You know that. So for every Medicare, you want
- 25:56me to do that. But for every Medicare patients
- 25:58that you get versus Medicaid, there's an extra two $300.00 of
- 26:01profit, right? I mean, you reimburse more, but
- 26:03it costs you more, of course, obviously also.
- 26:05So 40 patients per month? How much money were you making?
- 26:10$8 million a year. What were they paying you?
- 26:13I was getting paid. I love how you swallowed that so
- 26:16fast, $8 million a year. You're two people, an
- 26:20administrator and a marketing director, busting your chops to
- 26:24fill up a facility, bringing the owners and operators $8 million
- 26:28a year. It's amazing.
- 26:30That's why it's important to know what he made, because this
- 26:33isn't. We're not, no, but he was doing
- 26:34his job very well. We're not interviewing Ditmus
- 26:36Park now. No, that's not the point.
- 26:38He did everything. He did everything right.
- 26:41He paid them make a lot of. Money, not, no, no, not
- 26:43necessarily. Of course not.
- 26:44You have the clinical team, you have the department heads, you
- 26:46have the first service. They had to invest that of
- 26:48course. I'm just saying, Rev guys,
- 26:50obviously they didn't net profit $8 million a year for those of
- 26:53you listening who thought that for those.
- 26:56How much money did he make? By the way, for those of you
- 26:58listening who are thinking that or thought that, please go
- 27:00follow another podcast. This is not about, you know,
- 27:02money or being Jewish or any or in the nursing homes.
- 27:05This is just the concept that as an employee, a young employee,
- 27:09two young superstars turn around a nursing home, making it not
- 27:13only profitable, but extremely profitable.
- 27:15Yes, that's all I'm saying. And I want to know how much you
- 27:17got recognized for it. I want to know about that
- 27:19journey. It's very important.
- 27:20Bonuses. I got crazy bonuses.
- 27:22So you went from 80 grand suddenly a year or two?
- 27:24Making how much a year I. Was making well into the 200.
- 27:26It's probably 250. They were taking very good care
- 27:29of me. I got paid for my car, paid for
- 27:30everything There were there were I got to say and shout out to
- 27:33Mendel Romberg that who was the administrator of the after
- 27:35Nathan Ford left and I stayed on.
- 27:37So I stayed on way longer. Nathan Ford went on to work for
- 27:41some other people to start his own thing.
- 27:42I stayed there till probably 2019 and in the midst of being
- 27:46there I started Central Marketing because I realized if
- 27:48I could fill up one home and make 200 something grand,
- 27:52imagine I filled up 10 homes, I can make $2,000,000.
- 27:55When you start sensible marketing.
- 27:56Sensible started where I could fill up a home, let me train
- 28:00young guys and and and girls and they should work for under me
- 28:03filling up Four Seasons, filling up CFW group, filling up this
- 28:07home. And that's when I went on and
- 28:09was thank you to Molly Sherman, who gave me an opportunity at
- 28:11Four Seasons. Thank you to Ellie Goldbaum and
- 28:13the Deutsch family gave me opportunity in Queens.
- 28:15And that's when I started off really hiring people.
- 28:18I started with Ron Krezel, my who's my partner now, and I
- 28:21hired a guy, Jeremy Freeman, who's my CEO now.
- 28:23I hired a bunch of great guys, Steve Solomon and Aaron Donner
- 28:27and it goes up, the list goes on and on.
- 28:29And they really were extension to me.
- 28:32So there was a bunch of shimmies running around filling up homes
- 28:34and I would charge them, let's say 150 grand a year.
- 28:38I would pay my guy 60 grand, 70 grand and keep the rest.
- 28:40So that was the concept. And then as they grew with me,
- 28:42we, they took on more homes, they got paid more, we charged a
- 28:45little more. And that's how the sensible
- 28:47started. You trained all these guys.
- 28:48You. Trained every single one myself.
- 28:50At what point did you leave Ditmus Park and just start 20?
- 28:5219 or 20 right, right by COVID. Ditmus Park called me in and
- 28:56they said, OK, you know, it's the time's been up.
- 28:58Let's be a consultant. You consulted for us.
- 29:00We consulted for them under sensible for they took my salary
- 29:03away and they kept me on for like I think another year.
- 29:05And then at the end, during COVID, I think we moved our
- 29:07moved our went our separate ways, but we still keep in
- 29:10touch. But that's when I really like
- 29:12had enough coming in that I covered myself, didn't need that
- 29:15salary, but it was a risk to jump in.
- 29:17You know, starting your own company is not an easy thing.
- 29:20I'm sure you know that, Michael. And this you guys know.
- 29:23This is not about me. But I'm just saying it's not.
- 29:25Easy. 100% not easy that. That risk, you know, jumping in
- 29:27and you don't have to make payroll, have to pay.
- 29:29Everything I'd like to hear about it, I want to know how
- 29:31that beginning was. You're making 200 grand a year.
- 29:34There's a lot of people that are listening to this that think
- 29:35like this. I'm making 200 grand a year.
- 29:37I might as well start my own business.
- 29:39So when did it hit you and how did you behave and react to the,
- 29:42you know, needing to make payroll and suddenly getting tax
- 29:45bills and suddenly having licensing issues and territory
- 29:48issues and people getting upset and facilities not happy?
- 29:50Tell me about that journey. It was.
- 29:51Definitely a humble beginning because you know, having to take
- 29:55your, all the money coming in, you giving out to your, to your,
- 29:58your people, you're left with a little something.
- 30:01That's when you know, loans start coming to play.
- 30:03In order to hire more people, you have to have more money,
- 30:05more cash flow. Some people didn't pan time.
- 30:07So it was a very humble beginning and definitely, you
- 30:11know, I got to give Abe Kona shout out.
- 30:12He came on, really helped us grow a certain division called
- 30:15CBC. And then we now, you know, we
- 30:17have a division called admissions Pro.
- 30:19But Berkham, things really took off and you know, we're we're
- 30:22one of the, I think, leading companies in admissions and
- 30:25marketing in, in in healthcare. That's cute.
- 30:27You're not the leading company. You're literally the only
- 30:28company that doesn't. I mean literally.
- 30:30I mean, there's no, I mean there are people tried because this is
- 30:33my point. People try to do something that
- 30:36they're good at and creating a business out of it.
- 30:39It's, it's in a way, it's great to take a risk and do well, but
- 30:42in a way it's very dangerous because you were making 200
- 30:45grand a year and suddenly you're starting over a business.
- 30:46Then you're borrowing money you can't pay back before you know
- 30:49it. God forbid things can happen.
- 30:51So, so having a partner, hiring the right people, training them
- 30:54is all great, but that's that's the part that interests me in
- 30:57terms of. Your one of the things that
- 30:58Jimmy did really, really well. I mean, obviously he was
- 31:00marketing for homes, for nursing homes, but he also marketed his
- 31:03company and himself everywhere. Well, yes, his merch was always
- 31:07great. Yes, great merch, right?
- 31:09That's how I want to get into. What's the tip then you give for
- 31:11a business? Like, tell me about that process
- 31:12Like somebody you don't have a lot of money, you want to grow
- 31:14your business you just started. I think the key to being
- 31:18successful as a small business is to brand something you're
- 31:22good at and have a good tagline that gets everyone excited.
- 31:26So good times is such an easy word, but it really like became
- 31:29our identity. Good times.
- 31:31People would take pictures, they're flying into some, you
- 31:34know, Toronto or. Something I used to take videos,
- 31:36I used to wear your your merch. I would take videos of me.
- 31:39I used to scream it out everywhere out.
- 31:40If you remember, I would. We had, we went through our
- 31:42kufa, we went through our time where we were screaming
- 31:44sensible. It was a great time, and now we
- 31:45whisper it. Now people are screaming Shimmy
- 31:49J. But there was a good times like
- 31:51production, it was good times in a separate division, yes.
- 31:54What was that? So basically I realized that if
- 31:56you could get people, even if it's not in healthcare, to
- 31:59recognize your brand, then it trickles down to the healthcare
- 32:01guys and it trickles down to to everyone.
- 32:04And that goes back to what we were saying earlier.
- 32:06If you have a positive brand and you're doing good things in the
- 32:09for the world, people want to work with you.
- 32:11People want to work with someone who has a hearts, someone who's
- 32:13a Mensch, someone who's a good person.
- 32:15People want to work. There's a trust factor, there's
- 32:17a good energy, these vibes, and that's where you could bring
- 32:22everyone together and crush it and then have so much success.
- 32:24That's the number one key to to success is doing good and
- 32:28presenting in a very good, trustworthy manner.
- 32:31And your merch was very cool and.
- 32:34We have new stuff by the way. I'm still, I'm still.
- 32:36I'm still waiting for it. I'm still waiting.
- 32:37Seeing the way you guys are, I should have just came.
- 32:40By the way. Right.
- 32:41I came with the white shirt, just I, I just spilled all over
- 32:43myself so. We made a Lochai.
- 32:45The first time yet that's right. We made a Lochai and literally
- 32:47the wine went everywhere. Everywhere so and thank.
- 32:50And thank God we had a very comfortable prime source sweat.
- 32:52I'm I'm very happy to wear this I got.
- 32:54The prime source merch. Beautiful merch.
- 32:56I, I agree with you, by the way, the merch, I think every company
- 32:59that's, you know, trying to step up.
- 33:01I, I never heard this before and I like it.
- 33:03I like what you're saying. Borrow to grow, but borrow
- 33:06sensibly. Very good, I said it.
- 33:08You have to borrow with, Yeah. You said it, I want to repeat it
- 33:11sensibly. Sensibly, yeah, with.
- 33:14AC Another reason why I want to repeat it is because borrowing
- 33:16money in general is a huge topic of mine.
- 33:19It's just something that like I talk about a lot and I don't get
- 33:23really the opportunity to lend people money anymore.
- 33:25And I'll tell you why it affected my life in a negative
- 33:29way. And when I used to lend people
- 33:31money and then they wouldn't pay back and it would be very
- 33:33difficult. You heard this before.
- 33:35Right, I never heard it, but I could I understand it.
- 33:37Yeah, so you never heard of people not paying money back?
- 33:39No, that I've heard. Yeah.
- 33:41Yeah, you personally. You never heard the story of me
- 33:42saying. I did it very quietly.
- 33:44So, but my point is that, you know, it affected me.
- 33:47So I, I came up with a rule and I'm a I'm a life of rules.
- 33:49It's again for another, another podcast.
- 33:52The rule is I don't lend anyone money.
- 33:53I don't lend. You need money.
- 33:54I can give you, you, you want to borrow 5 grand, right.
- 33:57So I'm not the only one. I saw you mouthing it.
- 33:59You see you. There's a lot of us in the world
- 34:01that do these type of things. You know, you won five grand.
- 34:03Here's 500. God bless you.
- 34:05People told me recently that they got insulted by that
- 34:08notion, and that's what happened.
- 34:10It woke me up. Yeah, I promise.
- 34:11It just happened to me. Someone.
- 34:12It changed me and it changed an idea that I have in my life.
- 34:15And I'm going to share it with you now for a second.
- 34:17Is that someone said to me, you know, it's, it's a, he's a
- 34:19really good friend of mine and he really needed to borrow the
- 34:21money. And, you know, but it wasn't
- 34:23that good friend, you know, because everyone on my phone is
- 34:25my friend. But there's levels obviously,
- 34:26you understand, there's like, you know, there's the comes
- 34:28it's, but then there's this, you know, but the point is that he's
- 34:31just like, you don't understand. I really needed to borrow 5
- 34:35grand and you offered me 500 as an insult to me.
- 34:39And I said, wow, you know what, you're right.
- 34:40And I apologize and I just can't afford to lose my friendship
- 34:43with you. That's what to me, lending is.
- 34:45It's not, it's not about I can't afford $4500.
- 34:48I can't afford to lose my friendship.
- 34:49And you're gonna feel uncomfortable.
- 34:50You can't pay me back. You're gonna run away from me
- 34:52again. Of course I see you're agreeing
- 34:53with me. So we've all been there.
- 34:55So I was telling someone this story and I said I wanna give
- 34:58the opportunity to lend money. And, and, and he said why?
- 35:01And I I said, I heard from somewhere recently that lending
- 35:04people money is a very big mitzvah.
- 35:06Look at this. You're wording my words.
- 35:08I love it. Thank you for being quiet while
- 35:09I'm saying it. So you're not interrupting.
- 35:11But I, but we're on the same page.
- 35:13So I'm thinking it's just happened to me and I'm thinking
- 35:15and, and, and I tied the two together.
- 35:17So I went someone else. I said, what should I do?
- 35:18He said, let give money to a gamache.
- 35:21You guys know about this? Yes.
- 35:23I didn't know this but this is great.
- 35:24Give money to a gamache and I'm I'm ready to do it.
- 35:27I I wanna give let's say 5 grand just to a gamache just so.
- 35:30And then send your. Friend.
- 35:31Then you send there and. Yeah, yeah, you need money, just
- 35:33go to the Gamache, you know, because again.
- 35:36You get them in the Kumar. No, it's not alone with the
- 35:38Kumar. I'm not trying to help my friend
- 35:40from that point. No, I'm sorry.
- 35:41Let me reiterate. OK.
- 35:42I want the mitzvah of lending. That's it.
- 35:44Yes, exactly. Let me do with helping friends,
- 35:46You personally, Me personally, I want the mitzvah.
- 35:48Yeah. Since you learned that lending
- 35:49is a big mitzvah, I want that mitzvah, so I'm gonna give it to
- 35:52Kumar without having the hardship of ruining my
- 35:54friendships. So I'm still saying no to your
- 35:56friends. Maybe are you in?
- 35:58But I'm in. You like that idea?
- 35:59Let's do it to the same, Kumar. OK, tell me which come.
- 36:02Off I didn't know it differently.
- 36:04You do a Lakewood come out. I'll do him on some I'll.
- 36:05Give him an hand. What?
- 36:08Hills. Manhattan.
- 36:08I live in Manhattan. You do?
- 36:09Yeah. I had no idea.
- 36:10I love it. I really don't.
- 36:12I don't know you that person, BT didn't say.
- 36:14There's Chachi BT didn't give away.
- 36:15No, I didn't finish the chachi. My address.
- 36:18I'll tell you what I do a little bit different is that, but I'll
- 36:21still. Do Lake of Gamma because my
- 36:22office is there. I give to you know what?
- 36:23I'm sorry, do a Manhattan Gamma? People in Manhattan need money,
- 36:26believe it or not. By the way, we have a time for
- 36:28Shabbos. Do a Manhattan gamar.
- 36:29No problem. You're in, I don't.
- 36:30Know if there's a? Yeah, we have.
- 36:31My shell has one yes. Yeah, I'll do a man Sigma.
- 36:34You see, it probably owns his own gamma.
- 36:36I give to Gamma and it happens to be that when people ask me.
- 36:38So I'll, I'll, I facilitate it because you can't always just
- 36:41get into Gamma. You have to have the right
- 36:43story, the right situation and the right cosigners.
- 36:46And I'll go and I'll tell them they have to get cosigners, but
- 36:49I'll also actually cosign if they can't, which sometimes
- 36:51comes back to bite you as well. I'm never.
- 36:53But I just want to go back to the point I do lend to certain
- 36:57people that I know could pay back and I know they have a way
- 37:00to pay back, especially if it's like in a partnership or in some
- 37:04type of relationship. I'll take their payroll.
- 37:06So I'll lend them against their payroll factoring so their
- 37:08payroll comes to me. So it's just interest free.
- 37:10Loan you're factoring good. For you that you had that
- 37:11opportunity? Yeah, I just never had that
- 37:13opportunity. I understand.
- 37:14You're secure, you're good. Yeah, I know, I know, I know the
- 37:17money's coming. I know they're they're they're
- 37:18right now. No, I get.
- 37:19I get it. Where were we before this, by
- 37:20the way? Do you remember?
- 37:21We. Were I I took us off on a on.
- 37:24I'm sorry. Yeah, No, he.
- 37:25Was going through his stories sensible?
- 37:27Marketing and then basically the, the, the, the next part is
- 37:32after sensible was already a platform.
- 37:33I guess in 2021. I, I got opportunity, I want to
- 37:37go into all the details of these companies because it's just
- 37:40rather not say who they are, but I became partners in some pretty
- 37:43big ancillary businesses by investing in them, starting them
- 37:47up and giving them a platform because I knew all the players
- 37:50in the, in the nursing home business.
- 37:52I became partners in, in some very, very big companies that
- 37:54helped me, you know, pivot to where I am today.
- 37:57Now I have a whole platform called 1 Bridge Health that we
- 38:00basically do every type of ancillary from clinical to non
- 38:03clinical. Why did they come to you?
- 38:05It wasn't for the money, right? I mean.
- 38:06One guy came because of the money.
- 38:08He needed the money to start. He had an idea he needed, needed
- 38:10whatever the amount was. He needed the money and I put up
- 38:12the money. Also, it's smart money because I
- 38:15had the relationships so you're able to build a company.
- 38:18Much You were in a bunch of nursing homes already, so you
- 38:20were right in. Start the guy off from scratch
- 38:22into 100 homes like that. Now we can do 500 like that.
- 38:27And none of these were your ideas.
- 38:28People came with an idea with idea.
- 38:30My idea was sensible marketing. And were these guys friends of
- 38:33yours from before? Or there's people who who saw
- 38:35you in the business and. One guy I was working with, I
- 38:36think you know a little bit me who's an operator for one of the
- 38:39homes we were doing marketing for.
- 38:41But no, it was just new introductions.
- 38:43And what would you say how many? Look, again, I'm not going to
- 38:45ask the specifics, but how many of these did you get into?
- 38:48I think I have right now 8 or 9. And how many of these eight or
- 38:52nine are successes and how many of them are fails?
- 38:56They're all still going. So they're all successful, some
- 38:59more than others. Some have giving off
- 39:01distributions every month, some every quarter.
- 39:03The beauty of the position that you're in, obviously Hashem put
- 39:05you there is that you were primed for this.
- 39:08This was made for you. This is like I'm in the
- 39:10facilities, I have the funds, I have the people, I have the
- 39:13army, I have the structure. Let's do this.
- 39:15I get it completely and congratulations to you.
- 39:17I'm I'm very, very happy for you.
- 39:18It's really it's, it's so nice. I mean, it's like, I don't want
- 39:21to sound like an old man, but I watched you grow and and it
- 39:24really. Would you say there's a specific
- 39:27like, OK, we've seen, you know, there's the legend seats,
- 39:29there's the the courtside seats, there's there's, there's a
- 39:32certain type of lifestyle. Now, is it one company really
- 39:35that facilitated? I'm not going to ask the
- 39:36specifics of which company or is the collective effort of all of
- 39:40the ones that you're invested. In you see, you see, I can't get
- 39:42away from this. He really wants to know which
- 39:45company made you the most money and.
- 39:46How did it happen? How did I miss this?
- 39:48What is I invested everything? Oh.
- 39:53My God, I love it that it came out.
- 39:54You see, I love you. I love that you could be
- 39:56transparent and we can schmooze. It's it really is a combination.
- 40:00I really believe that now there was one company that really did
- 40:04it And and the best part is that I'm 100% owner of that company
- 40:07and they didn't have to invest anything.
- 40:09Wow, that was. Is that 1 you could talk about
- 40:11or you'd rather not? I'd rather not talk about.
- 40:12It it's well, but I'll tell you one thing that I've seen.
- 40:15None of your business it's. On your but you go and say that,
- 40:17you just say it. You know, I've seen, you know, a
- 40:19lot of people that you know, they, they make it and you know,
- 40:21and because after that they're they forget.
- 40:23Everybody else shouldn't be still the same.
- 40:25I'll tell you, I didn't even know you were any different.
- 40:27And I saw you by that wedding. We were sitting there and I
- 40:29actually saw something like that was amazing to me.
- 40:32And if I could say, I'm not going to say the details of who
- 40:33was or what we're. Going to say it, say it.
- 40:35Let's go, guys. What's with the holding back
- 40:37here? What's that?
- 40:37I don't know if it's say it. You could say this.
- 40:39You could say. OK, so you don't even know what
- 40:40he's going to say. I know he knows what to say.
- 40:41Oh yeah. I was there, that's why you
- 40:43could say it. So no, I'll tell you.
- 40:46So a couple years ago we were together on PESA and shimmy ate
- 40:49by my table actually, and I was trying to help.
- 40:52It was it was that gateways program and I was trying to help
- 40:55Robbie Suchard. Actually, that's how I even knew
- 40:56that the pledge was there. I gave a a significant pledge
- 40:59and I was trying to help him. How?
- 41:01Much did you give? I think that year was 100 or
- 41:03150. Wow.
- 41:04OK. And I was trying to help him.
- 41:05I was going around the room and, you know, I was trying to help
- 41:07him and I went over to Shimmy and I, I probably pushed him
- 41:09into it, but they got him for $10,000.
- 41:12And but again, I don't, you know, and I don't follow up.
- 41:15It's not my part. And I leave and I go home and
- 41:17that's it. And I don't even know if Ruby
- 41:19Sushard remembered about it. But you know, lately Shimmy was
- 41:23in Orlando and also we saw the videos and it's out there,
- 41:26people start to see it. So he probably, you know, he had
- 41:29to make payroll and he, you know, and he, I guess he figured
- 41:31he's going to start. He looks at his list and
- 41:34Shimmy's out there and Shimmy still has a $10,000 pledge.
- 41:37He's going to go after, you know, go after.
- 41:39So he must have tried Shimmy to call a few times and I didn't
- 41:42even know he was trying to call him at that point.
- 41:44But I was sitting next to Shimmy by a wedding.
- 41:45Also Rubbie Sushard walks by and he pops himself down and I said
- 41:49I wouldn't have done it this way, but he went right in.
- 41:51You know, I've been trying to reach you.
- 41:53And she was like outside. I, I saw your calls, you know, I
- 41:56saw the calls. And then she said, look, I know
- 41:58what you want. But I'll tell you the truth that
- 42:01when you came over to me then, and I guess it's also my fault
- 42:03because I pushed, you know, I was friends, you and I just
- 42:04pushed. But you know, I didn't have the
- 42:08$10,000, but I felt like I had you pushed me into it.
- 42:11I had to give it. I didn't have the money to do
- 42:12it. Didn't I wasn't interested in.
- 42:13I felt it wasn't fair that you pushed me into this.
- 42:16I didn't have the hearts when I pledged it, right?
- 42:18It wasn't from the heart, right? It was just I was forced into.
- 42:20It correct I I didn't I did it wasn't a genuine thing because I
- 42:24felt like I was beat into this and it wasn't something that I
- 42:27and that's. Fiery topic coming up guys.
- 42:30Wow. So he so you know, so Sushar
- 42:33turned back says you know, I, I was always there for you.
- 42:35And again, whether he was he would be I was always there for
- 42:38you. And Jimmy said, yo, I paid my
- 42:39way since I gave you discount. I was going back and forth and I
- 42:41was getting I felt I was sitting in the middle there was about to
- 42:43get a little baby hostile even it was getting a little bit
- 42:46uncomfortable. And then ships says you know
- 42:48what you have, you have your EIN number.
- 42:51He gives it to him. Remember he's pledged $10,000.
- 42:53I watched I was right there and on the spot.
- 42:56He sent through his donors fund $25,000 on the spot, Robbie
- 43:00Suchard and the way what I'll tell you what I took from it.
- 43:04So first of all, that just that you know that again, like I said
- 43:07before, you're, you're approachable and that he had, he
- 43:11felt comfortable even saying, you know, it's bothering me
- 43:14that, that, you know, most times you're trying to get money out
- 43:17of a guy. You're not going to sit there
- 43:17and say what bothers you about the guy that he felt comfortable
- 43:20saying it's bothering me that you're, you're forgetting what
- 43:22he perceives or either did or didn't do, but at least he
- 43:24perceives that he did for you along the way.
- 43:27And and again, even if it it wasn't, but in his mind, he and
- 43:30I'm sure it was genuine. He really was trying to be there
- 43:33for you along the way. Nobody knew then that Shimmy J
- 43:35is going to be today's Shimmy J that we're dealing with today.
- 43:38Right. But he came over and he and he
- 43:41took a risk because right now you might be shutting it off,
- 43:43but Shimmy didn't take it. Like I'll tell you, I would have
- 43:45taken it totally the opposite way.
- 43:46You're attacking me. I'm out right, But Shimmy took
- 43:49it. Well, they had a disagreement of
- 43:51how what the what the timeline and what the facts were.
- 43:54And then not only did he not 10,000 was the pledge.
- 43:58He didn't just give 10,000. I saw it on the spot.
- 44:01He sent $25,000. Wow, I'm still not impressed
- 44:05yet. By the way, being honest with
- 44:07you, I'm not impressed. No, not yet, because I still,
- 44:09I'm missing something. You did.
- 44:11Did you pledge 10 grand? Did you not?
- 44:12Did he have a right to come to you or not?
- 44:14This is this is a great topic. A lot of times people come and
- 44:18they push and I'm this is a pet peeve of mine.
- 44:21They come, they bring you to parlor meeting, they feed you
- 44:24tequila and drinks and you're in a place where your mom is like
- 44:28drunk. And then they come and say, can
- 44:30you pledge over the next five years, $1,000,000 And you're in
- 44:34your state of mind and you feel very pressured and you push
- 44:36yourself into and you do something that you don't want to
- 44:38do, but you feel forced to it and you're drunk.
- 44:40You wake up the next morning like what did I do?
- 44:43And that's I feel like mom ish forcing and it's it's, it's the
- 44:47most wrong thing you could do. And I stopped going to
- 44:48Parliament for this reason, because I had a situation and I
- 44:51and I pledged something that I was not comfortable doing and I
- 44:54didn't want to do it. But they got me drunk enough to
- 44:57that I pledged it. And from then on I stopped
- 45:00pledging. I just, I give checks on, I give
- 45:01the full amount. I don't pledge.
- 45:03I give the amount. If I can't give the amount now,
- 45:05I don't, I'm not pledging it come to me over the next few
- 45:06years, over the next few months. I don't pledge that I can't when
- 45:09I can't give. First of all, thank you.
- 45:11Thank you for sharing that with us.
- 45:12It's that's like really like, I hope this was therapeutic.
- 45:15It was very therapeutic because I've been waiting to talk about
- 45:17this. I don't want to listen.
- 45:19They just want the pledges. I don't want to.
- 45:20Pledge. No, because for me, I mean, I
- 45:22feel like I don't know what else the word to use.
- 45:25I mean we don't edit this but you got charity Already raped
- 45:28bro. I did many times and I had
- 45:31someone came out and screaming at me recently, a guy who I
- 45:34don't know so well, but he has my number and he says I don't
- 45:38like the way you give Tadaka. You give Tadka ostentatiously
- 45:41and and making a big deal about it.
- 45:43And then you put your name on everything.
- 45:45And he like very emptied on me and upset at me for it.
- 45:48And I said, I'm sorry, I you won't need a hug or you need
- 45:51money. And he said none.
- 45:54I said, so what's bothering you? He goes, I just don't like the
- 45:56way you're teaching the younger generation about giving Sidaka.
- 45:58I said, I'll tell you like this and I have it from zombies or us
- 46:00and showed me from halacha. If you can make a difference and
- 46:06help others give, you should do it.
- 46:08But Fahesia now, no one knows the Tina Tidaka that I do.
- 46:13And I'm not trying to say that, you know, Pat was on the back.
- 46:15But farhesia means to do it in public.
- 46:17Yeah, the public by the. Way if I could say it, I don't
- 46:20know if it's the right way to say it, but I think you're
- 46:21making, giving Sedaka like sexy. You're making it.
- 46:24You're making it fun. You're making.
- 46:25It making it fun, but also that you should other people who have
- 46:28a lot of money, they don't like sharing it.
- 46:31They might right? You should they should have that
- 46:33feeling. You know what, if this guy could
- 46:34give it, maybe doesn't even have as much as me, I could give it
- 46:37too. I'll tell you one thing though,
- 46:38Shimmy. But Shimmy does like to speak,
- 46:40right? Shimmy does like this because I
- 46:41heard him say, I heard him speak somewhere.
- 46:43It's funny because it was in the You went to High Life Camsimha
- 46:47Yes. And my daughter happened to be
- 46:49working there. And I they asked me to come the
- 46:51next week. That was the week after my
- 46:52daughter was all upset that like, Shimmy came with a
- 46:54helicopter and I came with a regular car.
- 46:57But what Shimmy said was that, you know, I don't always speak,
- 47:00but if I do speak, it has to be recorded.
- 47:03In front of the camera. You said in front of the camera,
- 47:05Yeah, so. But so was this always you
- 47:08Always. And I see all the time now.
- 47:09I see remiss in Kaplan is Rusha Shiva from Eric Cicero.
- 47:12He had a big yard Hakala, which is a learning program for a day
- 47:16was a meet and greet. It was business connections and
- 47:19shimmy. I happened to have my was my
- 47:21grandson's haircut, you know is up Sharon and I couldn't come
- 47:24but shimmy was the main like the main speaker him and and Yasi
- 47:27Kasnovsky. But was this something that was
- 47:29always a dream of yours to be a speaker to be out there?
- 47:31I don't. Know if I have had that dream,
- 47:33but I always had it in me to be a good speaker and inspire
- 47:38people. I always wanted to be a Rebbie.
- 47:39If I wasn't going to go, you know, the way I went, I would
- 47:41have been a Rebbie or a teacher. I like to inspire people.
- 47:44I feel like Hashem gave me a certain clipless and certain
- 47:48ability to be able to inspire and give over.
- 47:50And people relate to it because it's raw, it's real, it's from
- 47:53the hearts. It's like it's so real and I
- 47:55love people. I like genuinely love people.
- 47:57So for me to talk and inspire, it's like I feel like that was
- 48:01my topic in this world and that's why I'm here, so I could
- 48:04get up. I got invited now to go speak at
- 48:06Tor Misura on their panel. Of course, yes, I'd say yes
- 48:09because I know This is why I'm here.
- 48:11So I will keep on doing it it. Was funny.
- 48:12I'm first of all, wow, I really don't know you.
- 48:17This is amazing and I always loved you, which is just making
- 48:20this so much more enjoyable for me.
- 48:21You know it's coming one full circle from the beginning of our
- 48:24conversation until now. Yes, you just said you mentioned
- 48:27on a camera I only say things if I'm recorded.
- 48:29You obviously mean it as a joke and you obviously mean it to
- 48:31inspire others. Otherwise you wouldn't be giving
- 48:34sadaqa but snua also right? Otherwise you wouldn't be the
- 48:36person who you are. So meaning, I think it's just
- 48:39awesome to see it. It's just like I'm, I'm, I'm I'm
- 48:41now reminiscing of the conversation earlier,
- 48:44reminiscing. I'm just looking back at the
- 48:46conversation earlier. And I'm saying when you did
- 48:48sensible marketing, you went with a bang.
- 48:49You put your name out there. It's all about just what people,
- 48:53it's not just about what they're perceiving, but it's about what
- 48:55they can accept and what they want to emulate and what they
- 48:57want to copy. And you're, you're making such a
- 49:00great point. You're saying it's not just like
- 49:01OK, the Bahram and it's not just the the older people, it's also
- 49:05the people that are wealthy Yes, yes get off your tuchis yes and
- 49:08go do something with your money 4. $100 million.
- 49:10Give some to DACA. Don't just go and give your what
- 49:14you're forced to give to DACA guys, come on, you're sitting on
- 49:16so much money. Keep on giving.
- 49:18Can I ask something about Sedaka?
- 49:19There was a you could. Bring the mic back to you now.
- 49:23Like, you know, there's. A drop mic.
- 49:25I saw you wanted to drop it it. Was another thing that happened
- 49:27that night. That he knows you too well.
- 49:30But it's like, yes, yeah, yeah, this is weird.
- 49:32At that wedding. Yeah, at that wedding that there
- 49:34was a, there was a rabbi there on the crowd and shimmy points
- 49:37and we can see that guy there. And I'm asking for a specific
- 49:39thing because I struggle with this myself.
- 49:43There's a rabbi there is that rabbi.
- 49:44See that rabbi right there? He didn't take me into yeshiva
- 49:47and I know now he wants sadaqa for me.
- 49:50And suddenly now he, he never had time of day for me before,
- 49:53but now he does the why am I bringing this up?
- 49:55I just had this. I remember that there's one
- 49:57point when I, I left one yeshiva and I was switching to another
- 50:00one. I was probably asked to leave
- 50:02and I wanted to go, you know, my father was like devastated and I
- 50:06wanted to go to, he said you're going to certain yeshiva on
- 50:09Muncie. And I went there.
- 50:10The guy didn't want to take me. And I have like 3 voicemails on
- 50:13my phone of this guy trying to make appointments with me for
- 50:15money. And in my mind, I can't get past
- 50:17it that, you know, there was a point in my life that I just
- 50:22needed acceptance. Just take, I wasn't a bad boy.
- 50:24I knew how I always knew how to learn.
- 50:26I always learned. Yes, I was a little bit wild,
- 50:29but but I, I, I was, I was controllable.
- 50:31I was, I was, I was able you could have mentored me.
- 50:33I wasn't someone who was like, like, you know, out of control.
- 50:36And if you would have taken me in, I mean, again, I would be a
- 50:38different person. Maybe today would be a whole
- 50:40different trajectory and everything.
- 50:41But but that's not what I needed to hear then.
- 50:43So why do I have to be there for you now that you need money and
- 50:46I'm able to write a check? So I saw you that night.
- 50:48Then I actually saw you talking to him.
- 50:49I don't know what happened at the end, but but the point
- 50:52though, is that now that you're in a position to do this, and
- 50:56I'm sure you've been smacked on the way along the way,
- 50:59especially you know someone who you were married, divorced and
- 51:01then you got remarried and you everyone has their journey, But
- 51:04I'm sure there there are people now who are coming and hugging
- 51:07you and and now you're Rep shimmy to them who who at that
- 51:10point wouldn't have said a word to you.
- 51:12So how do you deal with the? It's it's a.
- 51:16It's a. Gracing the rejection that you
- 51:17faced years before and they somehow conveniently forgets.
- 51:21Forget that they've been rejecting you and now you.
- 51:23They're coming to you with their hand out.
- 51:25How do you deal with that? It's.
- 51:26A great question and it's something that I've been dealing
- 51:29with for the last probably 10 years more.
- 51:31So I was, I remember a story that I was in the yeshiva when I
- 51:34got separated. I used to learn with a a bucker
- 51:37and when I got separated, they tell me you're not a young man
- 51:39anymore so you can't we're learn and we're taking away your
- 51:42stipend. And I was so hurt.
- 51:45That really set me off like on a very very.
- 51:48More than the. Money more than the money that
- 51:50they said because I got separated.
- 51:51Now I'm not able to learn with this kid.
- 51:55And for many years I was very hurt and I was at a wedding and
- 51:58the guy who took that away from me was like 10 years later comes
- 52:01over to me goes, I feel that you're still fatigued and you're
- 52:05still upset at me. And I feel it even though I
- 52:07don't see you. But I just in my heart, I feel
- 52:09it. And I said, Reb, whatever his
- 52:11name is, come here. I give him a hug.
- 52:13I say, I merely believe Shalom. You had to do what you had to do
- 52:16in the moment. I had to do what I had to do.
- 52:19I merely believe Shalom. And we're moving on.
- 52:21Keep on doing good things. And I let it go.
- 52:24When you let things go, you're healing yourself so much more
- 52:27than holding on to something and grieving and being upset.
- 52:30Then you're the Nebuch. When you let it go, you're a
- 52:33rock star. No one can mess with that.
- 52:36And I do this to all the Rashivas and all the Rebbe, and
- 52:39I'll hug them. Forgive and forget.
- 52:41That's how you're. It's unbelievable hearing you
- 52:43say this, by the way, it's true. You know, one one minute you're
- 52:46saying forgive and forget and the second minute you're saying
- 52:48don't charity rape me. And it's.
- 52:50Cool, but those are the new realities.
- 52:52Those aren't the old guys. No, but I'm saying is hearing
- 52:54you say it, it's it's pretty, but.
- 52:56I'll tell you so. Shimmy is someone also who knows
- 52:59and I've seen him show, let's say Hakarasat.
- 53:01I have and I'll give you a specific, which is appreciation.
- 53:03I'll give you a specific example.
- 53:05He probably doesn't even know that I watched this happen.
- 53:08I saw it first hand, so again, we know Shimmy was married
- 53:12before and he has two beautiful kids who are who are rock stars.
- 53:15Rock stars, I don't know this we're we're not finishing this
- 53:18podcast until we get to your history.
- 53:20So. There's kids a rock star, really
- 53:22good, good kids. And I was by a program with him
- 53:27and I it was, it was by the, IT was a Shuest program.
- 53:31And it was the the Nate's minion, the early minion, right
- 53:33where you learn the whole night. And 4:30 in the morning you
- 53:35start chakras. And then they start reading
- 53:38Megillis something. The.
- 53:40The restless Yeah, the worst. They hit you with everything
- 53:43that night, right? But they also do is when I think
- 53:45they sell Dalias and Shimmy went and he and he start to bid for
- 53:48an Alia for somebody who was there and I'll say who it was
- 53:50after. Remember this 'cause I don't
- 53:51forget a. Thing.
- 53:52Oh my God. And he start to bid and then
- 53:55people are bidding against it and then and he buys Dalia.
- 53:57And again, this is Shimmy Pre, you know, I don't even know if
- 54:00you were sensible marketing at that that point.
- 54:02Maybe you're just starting then but it was definitely not.
- 54:04Like it wasn't even the fake it till you make it date.
- 54:06It was free. Free.
- 54:07Fake it till you make it. And he bought and I said why?
- 54:11I mean, again, the guy was one of the speakers there.
- 54:13Just say who he was it. Was probably pays a Crone and
- 54:17but why buy him an alias? Just I want to tell you why, and
- 54:20this is just to show how special, right?
- 54:24He says. I don't know how he got involved
- 54:25with Shimmy's kids, his Shimmy's family, but he saw these two
- 54:29boys. At that point, Shimmy was the
- 54:30boy. And a girl, a boy and a.
- 54:31Girl, I'm sorry, a boy and a girl.
- 54:32And he was, he was divorced and I guess Shimmy had his, you had
- 54:36your own journey at that point. I don't know if he thought that
- 54:38you that that. I was living in New York and he
- 54:40was living in my kids lived in Cleveland.
- 54:42Right. So New York and Cleveland.
- 54:43And he said, you know, I want to do something for these kids.
- 54:45And he travels all around the world to speak.
- 54:47And every time he went to speak, he would buy a shot glass from
- 54:50that place. For my son.
- 54:51And send it to his son. Wow.
- 54:53I don't think he really knows. Just you know your son before.
- 54:55He knew my son he's calling he met him I think at a program
- 54:58right and they kept in touch. He saw was a kid from a divorce
- 55:00home and he said I'm gonna give this kid something special.
- 55:04Every time he traveled around the world he would ship a glass,
- 55:08a shot glass from the airport and would call him on air of
- 55:11Chavez, wish him good, Chavez and I.
- 55:12Didn't know that part. And out of cars to type.
- 55:14And that's why I bought him Dahlia.
- 55:16He bought any good things for years, going on for years.
- 55:18He would always send him from like and this is not like nobody
- 55:22knew that this is going to be Shimmy J today, who is the
- 55:24speaker of the OSC in the Baltzadaka.
- 55:26This was just a a little boy that needs that he felt needed
- 55:30some Khazek and he felt would appreciate a shot glass from
- 55:33different places around the world.
- 55:34There's special people like this.
- 55:36But my point wasn't about Pisa Kron should be on your podcast
- 55:38and that'll be his thing. But but the fact that Shimmy
- 55:41said, you know what, I want to do something for this guy.
- 55:42You didn't have a lot of money then.
- 55:44I don't know what the leaves were very expensive.
- 55:46Probably $1000 was expensive, you know, for, you know, after
- 55:49you just paid to come to a program and he he went and he
- 55:52bought the leaks. Crazy that you remember this.
- 55:53Yes, I don't forget. You're out of control.
- 55:55That's a great story, by the way.
- 55:56Really, I have so many levels. I appreciate what Peso Crone was
- 55:59doing, which is so nice. You know, as you get older, you
- 56:02want to do things for the younger generation like you're
- 56:03doing right now and like, you know what you can do to impact a
- 56:06child? Oh my gosh, shot glasses
- 56:08everywhere. How many shot glasses do you?
- 56:09You had a lot. You had a lot.
- 56:10Then I started doing it. I'm like, I gotta do it.
- 56:13Who'd you do it for? Your kid?
- 56:14For my son. Oh, you're like, oh boy, thanks.
- 56:16Thank you for another kid. That's a great, that's great.
- 56:19That's. Guys, I recently had something
- 56:21that happened to me and I need to share it with you.
- 56:23I got it unloaded here. OK, ready.
- 56:25You heard it here first, I started Davini by Orschlomo.
- 56:30A shout out to Zeesh Molnstein and all the amazing people at
- 56:33Orschlomo. What an incredible shul.
- 56:35It's the reason I wake up in the morning to Davin.
- 56:38Chakras. I should say is Orschlomo
- 56:42anyways, but I'm there prime. Source.
- 56:44We don't wake up for you. Anyways, so somebody asked me.
- 56:50There he goes. I have a rabbi coming into
- 56:52Muncie and if it's OK with you, you know, I, I heard you have a
- 56:56nice sized dining room. Can we do it in your house or do
- 56:59you know anybody that has an so I said, you know what, let me
- 57:01think with you, you know, because a lot of times when
- 57:03doing favors for people, you don't need to give them the
- 57:05answer. You could just help them think
- 57:06of the answer, right. So that's the mode I got into
- 57:08it. Long story short, you know, I
- 57:12was going to do it in my house. OK.
- 57:14And it was Wednesday and we were planning on doing it the
- 57:20following night. Thursday night, this rabbi was
- 57:22coming to my house. People in the community were
- 57:24going to see, you know, come for blessings and get guidance or
- 57:27whatever. I didn't even know really who
- 57:29the rabbi was. I was just giving my house.
- 57:31That's all it was. I got a phone call from a guy
- 57:34and he says, hey, the rabbi's coming to your house.
- 57:35Yes, he's coming to your house. OK, good.
- 57:38I need to tell you that, you know, your house has to be
- 57:40ready. You know, you can't just take a
- 57:42rabbi and bring him at the house.
- 57:43Got to be ready. You got to have food, drinks,
- 57:45people. You got to.
- 57:46You're going to have people come.
- 57:47I'm like, I I think that we got off on the wrong foot here.
- 57:50I was just giving my house. You know what I mean?
- 57:52You know the type you know like right?
- 57:53You give your house and some of your.
- 57:54All of a sudden your house thing comes.
- 57:56Which is fine, but in this scenario, I, I, I didn't even
- 57:59think I was going to be home. Like anyways, that evening I get
- 58:03a, a thing from, I don't know what it was.
- 58:05Somebody sent me a Ford. It was probably from CBN.
- 58:08You, you know, the good guys at CBN.
- 58:09Don't you shout out to CBN? Yeah.
- 58:11So Rabbi Yosef Pinto or Yeshua Pinto, is that right?
- 58:15Yeshua Pinto just gave a blessing to Kanye West and it
- 58:20was all over commenting people forwarding yeah, Rabbi Pinto was
- 58:25meant to be in my house Thursday night.
- 58:26No way. That's who it was.
- 58:28Yoshio Pinto, yeah. That's who you said who it was.
- 58:31And I and I, I sat down that night with my family and we
- 58:33talked about it and I was like, I don't know what to do.
- 58:36And I said I'm going to for sure tell this person no.
- 58:38And I can't give my house and I cancelled it and that's it.
- 58:40Wow. I'm curious what you guys think.
- 58:42That's crazy you cancelled because of the person it.
- 58:45Was I didn't. I didn't want that kind of
- 58:47publicity, right? That's a lot of house I didn't
- 58:49want. A lot of publicity, yeah.
- 58:51Wow. By the way, it wasn't CBN.
- 58:53Shiva World News posted it. CBN Badafka didn't post it, just
- 58:56FYI. And I think they did go on after
- 58:57and they said that they were they they knocked it, they said
- 58:59that they. Said that we shouldn't post it
- 59:01yeah, he didn't post it. He.
- 59:02He Oh, that's what I. Was by the way, shout out to
- 59:03them. Actually, I like that.
- 59:05I like that. Now I see why they have their
- 59:06own following. By the way, he's revolutionized.
- 59:08This is like, by the way, you should have him on this.
- 59:10I am *** would be you should have him on there, but he's
- 59:12revolutionized these type of things because he his
- 59:17commentary. He has his own commentary.
- 59:18Oh so people know that CBN is climb nager?
- 59:21Everyone knows. I didn't know I know him, that's
- 59:23why I'm asking. I don't really know him well and
- 59:25I didn't. Know right now and I see.
- 59:27And I'm gonna sound like an idiot saying this, but I see it,
- 59:31you know, popping up on his status all the time.
- 59:33And I had to mute it because it's so much, it's so much
- 59:36whatever. And I literally don't spend time
- 59:38on on media or social media. But going back to what you're
- 59:40saying. So you literally said no to
- 59:43having this like Macabel because you don't want to have the
- 59:48people looking and seeing, you know, seeing it, it felt.
- 59:52No, not I in horror. No, it just felt wrong.
- 59:54I don't know. There's a lot of negativity.
- 59:56That's really the bottom line. That's a lot of negativity.
- 59:58Yeah, maybe he's a great guy. Maybe he's a Macabel, maybe he's
- 1:00:01not. I know that's another podcast.
- 1:00:02No one knows though. I.
- 1:00:03I could tell you about my history with Macabel as I grew
- 1:00:05up in that environment. Yeah, I'm not going to come from
- 1:00:07Israel, Ha, Hams that were at my house.
- 1:00:09Miracles that people see in real, real good things.
- 1:00:12But there's negativity that can come out of it also.
- 1:00:14And the second I saw that, I was out.
- 1:00:16I think it was a smart move. And then Stefan called me and
- 1:00:18goes, are you crazy? You know what kind of social
- 1:00:20media we can do with that? Keep it a podcast right there.
- 1:00:23I don't even know how he found out.
- 1:00:25No, but that's. That's weird.
- 1:00:26Did he go? I don't know.
- 1:00:28I don't. Maybe he went to someone else's
- 1:00:29house. I don't know.
- 1:00:30Maybe he just decided Muncie's not so.
- 1:00:31You know we're. Going to have to wrap up soon
- 1:00:35because. You know it's.
- 1:00:36I don't want to finish before asking you just quickly about
- 1:00:39your personal life, but you don't have to get too deep into
- 1:00:41it. Obviously you're divorced, so
- 1:00:42you don't. There's always people there.
- 1:00:43You know, you don't want kids listening to this later and you
- 1:00:46have to be sensitive. I get that.
- 1:00:47But it's about I got to tell me through that process.
- 1:00:49When I was 2122 shut up shut up day first girl and making family
- 1:00:54great people and yeah for for unforeseeable reasons the
- 1:00:57marriage didn't work got divorced.
- 1:00:59You had two kids, had two beautiful, beautiful and I was
- 1:01:03single for a bunch of years, one on a journey, and I came and met
- 1:01:07my wife in New York City and settled down and Barksham have
- 1:01:10two new, beautiful, new kids, boy and girl, and I'm blessed.
- 1:01:14You did the mitzvah twice bro. Preview twice and I had two
- 1:01:16pitting events. That's right.
- 1:01:18Yeah, I was by Shimmy's wedding. Wow yeah now I have to ask you
- 1:01:22and 1st wedding or second? Wedding first or second, you
- 1:01:23know, you and grill. You and grill MO.
- 1:01:26Robbie was like both weddings. Yeah, really.
- 1:01:28He's the only one I know. You.
- 1:01:29I want him here, by the way. That's who my my most MO Robbie
- 1:01:33should come on the. Podcast you know that's coming.
- 1:01:35I know he. Does he's the team that does
- 1:01:38research terms he knows? No, no, Come on.
- 1:01:40Tell me. You yourself watch the podcast
- 1:01:41at least Come on. Of course the team is OK.
- 1:01:43You know, I know. I know what comes.
- 1:01:44You know what comes you. Know so I I was it was it was a
- 1:01:46beautiful wedding. It was the buy it was in UN
- 1:01:48Grill. But yeah, I.
- 1:01:50Was very intimate. It was beautiful, yes.
- 1:01:51Got it. So how'd you meet your second
- 1:01:52wife, by the way? I have a lot of single divorced
- 1:01:54friends and I, I just want to say forget about everything else
- 1:01:57I have to say about them, but I'd love to have them to hear
- 1:02:00about that journey real quick. Like you went through the
- 1:02:01journey that we're not going to discuss obviously, but at the
- 1:02:04end, how did you meet her? So I think part of, you know,
- 1:02:09accepting and I have to bring Hashem to this because it's all
- 1:02:11from a Yeah, like Zevam, especially when it comes to
- 1:02:14marriages, it's all about having the.
- 1:02:17I thought it was J Swipe and I'm kidding, but I'm serious.
- 1:02:20That's what I wanna hear. Mine got froze.
- 1:02:26Go ahead, tell me the vert. No, the the Martin Seita says
- 1:02:29that it has to do with your mice and Titan.
- 1:02:30Like if you're a good person, you can find the right person.
- 1:02:32That's one thing, but that's just a shout to my wife.
- 1:02:35But I think just living your life and knowing that the right
- 1:02:39thing is going to happen in the right time from Hashem and you
- 1:02:41have that trust that be talking, it's going to happen.
- 1:02:44And it's I know it's hard out there for the young guys and
- 1:02:46girls out there, it's hard. Ashutam is the hardest thing,
- 1:02:49especially second time around. But if you just trust in Hashem
- 1:02:52and you just put your stylist, go to those dates, go on those
- 1:02:55dates, it's gonna happen. It happens to be my my wife on a
- 1:02:58rooftop. Were you looking to settle down
- 1:03:00and get married or I was not? You met.
- 1:03:02You met. Hoovi.
- 1:03:03So you. I met her and I settled.
- 1:03:04Down. Hold on.
- 1:03:04I wanna hear this. You met her at a rooftop.
- 1:03:06Go ahead at a rooftop, We're in New York City.
- 1:03:08Keep going. You went up to her.
- 1:03:11So. Come on, you can ask her
- 1:03:14permission. It's fine.
- 1:03:15Go ahead. I'm asking for a genuine reason.
- 1:03:17I really am. I speak to single people all the
- 1:03:19time. Not joking.
- 1:03:20And we always talk about what they can do in order to get
- 1:03:23themselves to the level of, you know, really meeting the right
- 1:03:25person. You're saying Hashem, which is
- 1:03:28great. Obviously you said be a good
- 1:03:29person, which I love, you know, which is also should be.
- 1:03:32Obviously, you know, I'm curious, like what do you do?
- 1:03:34You see a girl, you approach her.
- 1:03:35That's why I'm asking. There was this rooftop called 60
- 1:03:38Thompson and I was going with a friend of mine and he brought
- 1:03:41his friends and my wife was one of the friends he brought and
- 1:03:45she was from Crown Heights. How bad girl and for me, it was
- 1:03:48very interesting coming from Lakewood.
- 1:03:50We have more in common with cabal than you would think.
- 1:03:52Like a lot of the growing up is they have a lot of you know, one
- 1:03:56of the Sneas and a lot of things that they're very mocked on and
- 1:03:59we connected on on a lot of those stuff and we talked about,
- 1:04:02you know, coming from those communities.
- 1:04:04We are we are now and we we hit it off.
- 1:04:06She at first she was making it a little hard for me out to like
- 1:04:09chase her, you know, divorced with two kids.
- 1:04:11She was a single girl. She was 25.
- 1:04:13I was probably like closer in the in the lower 30s and but she
- 1:04:19you know, eventually we worked out were you.
- 1:04:20Successful at that time or. So it's very interesting.
- 1:04:23I was just starting off with sensible, so I was making my
- 1:04:26whatever, let's say 250 a year, whatever the number was in that
- 1:04:29range. But she always told me, I know
- 1:04:31this guy's going to places. She always believed in me that I
- 1:04:34have the potential. Do you think that more than
- 1:04:36believing is she a part of your success, That she's motivated
- 1:04:39you and 100%? So that's what actually a great
- 1:04:42question, being married and being in a relationship, a
- 1:04:46healthy relationship brings stability.
- 1:04:48And when you're stable and you have a Good Wife, I just how
- 1:04:51behind you you could conquer the world.
- 1:04:53That is a fact. And when I became stable, that's
- 1:04:55when the success went into OverDrive.
- 1:04:58Wow. Wow, that's beautiful.
- 1:04:59Yeah, that really is beautiful. Shimmy.
- 1:05:02What a blast it is. This was so much fun.
- 1:05:04I really, I feel like I want to do this again and again and
- 1:05:07again and again. So by the way, you got married,
- 1:05:09you moved to Manhattan and. And I was living in Manhattan
- 1:05:11when I got. Married.
- 1:05:12When I met, you were single, living in the city, and you
- 1:05:15decided let me just stay there and now stay.
- 1:05:17There and now we have a shul which is beautiful.
- 1:05:19What part of the city? The West Side.
- 1:05:21The West Side, Yeah. Shout out to HKS, Hell's
- 1:05:23Kitchen, Stiebel, Maishi, Reisman, the Velasco.
- 1:05:25Great crew. We have a great shul.
- 1:05:26I love the city and I, you know many people don't agree with me
- 1:05:31on this but the city has so many beautiful pockets of beauty.
- 1:05:34Even with this mayor, that's going to not last for 3-4 years.
- 1:05:37And we should get it. We should we should get a rental
- 1:05:39there like for Shabbos that we could do like a for bring there.
- 1:05:42Bring Let's make it comes. What are you talking about?
- 1:05:44We have a guy here. Give us a guest house and we'll
- 1:05:46come whenever the heck we want. Every you want.
- 1:05:48Jimmy. This was amazing.
- 1:05:49I really appreciate it. Incredible.
- 1:05:50Incredible podcast. Yeah, it's exactly the way it
- 1:05:54started. Who would be your guest that you
- 1:05:56would? For he says that I just want to
- 1:05:57thank you for allowing me to Co host this is this is meaningful
- 1:05:59to me because I know shimmy for years.
- 1:06:01Yeah, this went way better with you this year.
- 1:06:03I love Oshie. Shout out to Oshie, but this was
- 1:06:05like different. I know.
- 1:06:06Yeah, you know, I like the idea by the way, getting a guest Co
- 1:06:08host that knows. Yeah, right.
- 1:06:10Yeah, I'll bring in Robbie, Sushard and I.
- 1:06:13Interview him too. But I get, I know Shimmy for
- 1:06:16years and I've watched him. I've watched him, you know, he
- 1:06:20was always a superstar, but I watched him really like that.
- 1:06:22The world sees it now and and the the good that he's doing is
- 1:06:26amazing. And so I thank you for allowing
- 1:06:28me to Co host this this special. Podcast.
- 1:06:30I appreciate. It wasn't really me.
- 1:06:31I had to get O's permission. This is what it is.
- 1:06:33No, I'm kidding. I'm kidding.
- 1:06:34But Oshi, you were missed. This is so much fun this.
- 1:06:37Thank you. I really appreciate it.
- 1:06:38So who's that guy that you're gonna?
- 1:06:40I would say MO Robbie, MO Robbie, Great personality, has

- 1:06:46The guy, he's just. Special get him on the horn.
- 1:06:48I love that's the way we do it. Call now.
- 1:06:50Yep. OK, what's up, MO?

- 1:06:55Business podcast with Michael Greenfield and this turns Hi MO
- 1:06:58and they on the podcast they ask who would you recommend as a
- 1:07:02good guest and the first name and it was planned.

- 1:08:01feels like everyone's part of the podcast because without all
