- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So the conversation you have with yourself is the most
- 0:33important conversation you will have every day.
- 0:37Whatever you are doing and saying to yourself, whatever you
- 0:39would having that internal conversation with, that is the
- 0:43most important conversation you will have every day, my friends.
- 0:46I can assure you of that because it is the one that will set you
- 0:49up, the one that will take you to greatness or have you plummet
- 0:53and failure. That is just the way it works.
- 0:56We talk to ourselves constantly and we rarely pay attention to
- 0:59that conversation at the level at which it needs to be paid
- 1:02attention to. I want to give you a great
- 1:05example. So I had to change out the
- 1:07chicken coop every every probably like every 10 days.
- 1:12I strip out all the straw and I pull it out into the chicken
- 1:16yard that because they have a run.
- 1:18So they have the coop, the run and then there are the big doors
- 1:20that open up into the farm and they can go wherever they want.
- 1:23So I take that straw that's in the coop and I strip it out and
- 1:27I put it around the coop to keep down all of the grass from
- 1:32growing and weeds from growing. And it gives them a nice area to
- 1:35dig around in. And it actually creates
- 1:37excellent, excellent dirt and mulch for plants.
- 1:41So in the springtime I can come out, I can dig this up, I can
- 1:43take it because all the chicken poop is broken down.
- 1:46It's quite the system and I can put it in my plants and it helps
- 1:50them retain water and everything else and plus it's supercharged
- 1:54with all the nutrients. So it's here, but I strip it all
- 1:57out from the inside and the the coop is big.
- 2:00It's I think it's 12 by 20. It's either 12 by 22, I think
- 2:05it's 12 by 22 or 24, I forget. But it's big and it's got double
- 2:09doors and it is not a small feat to go ahead and go do all of
- 2:14this. It takes me if I do a quick, as
- 2:17I call it the quick turn and burn change where I'm not really
- 2:19scrubbing everything. I'm just getting the straw out
- 2:21and I'm taking it out and sweeping it out and then putting
- 2:23in new straw. It's about 45 minutes to an hour
- 2:27and if I'm really scrubbing it and I'm cleaning everything and
- 2:31scraping it down and washing everything down because it gets
- 2:33dusty because I use first lime in there to make sure that they
- 2:37don't have any bugs in there and that they don't get mites or
- 2:39anything like that. It is a probably like a 2 hour
- 2:44process depending upon how pokey I go and how much time I really
- 2:47feel like spending with them. So yesterday's was a full blown,
- 2:51I'm cleaning it all up because I want it to get it nice and
- 2:55organized because we've had rain and it was just, it smelled
- 2:59really like awful from the rain. Just that damp yucky weather.
- 3:04So I took two probably 2 1/2 hours out here and just did
- 3:09everything. Now during that 2 1/2 hours,
- 3:12I've got music on and I am working.
- 3:15I'm like farm working. It's hard work.
- 3:18Well, here's the thing about that.
- 3:19For that amount of time, my brain is going in all different
- 3:22directions. I'm not just blank.
- 3:25I think we can all agree rarely is our brain blank.
- 3:29But that whole time I was working on it, I was listening
- 3:33as an observer to the conversation that I was having.
- 3:37But it was more about a back and forth where I would be thinking
- 3:40about, OK, I want to I'm getting ready to record a class and I'm
- 3:44like, OK, what am I going to put in the class?
- 3:45And I would say to myself, let's do content.
- 3:48Like I'm out here. I'm like, all right, let me
- 3:49think about the content. And then before you know it, I'm
- 3:52thinking about all the things that I didn't do.
- 3:54Like I didn't order those Christmas presents to be shipped
- 3:57in. I didn't send something to
- 3:58Auntie Annie yet. OK, I have to take care of it.
- 4:01Like my brain, my certainty girl is making A to do list for me.
- 4:05I'm like, no, we're not doing that right now.
- 4:07We're focusing on this. Come back to the class.
- 4:09What do you want to say in the class?
- 4:10Okay, And I've got a little notebook off to the side.
- 4:12So I could actually, I really planned on doing this, write it
- 4:15all out. But instead my brain is on a
- 4:17walkabout, as our Australian friends say, and having all this
- 4:20other conversation with me. And it's just driving me nuts
- 4:25because I'm like, no, no, no, come back to this.
- 4:27No, no, no, come back to this. And then I'm thinking, listening
- 4:30to a song, and before you know it, I'm thinking about the what?
- 4:32What the hell happened to this person while the song that they
- 4:36were writing this song? Because geez, this is a sad
- 4:38song. And then I'm thinking to myself,
- 4:40wow, OK, this is really like a lot of work in this heat.
- 4:45I like because it was hot. And I was like, oh, my gosh, I,
- 4:47I like I didn't bring enough water.
- 4:49I should really have brought more water.
- 4:51I wonder how much water I drank this week.
- 4:53My brain was all over the place. And because it was all over the
- 4:58place, it was creating stress for me rather than saying, just
- 5:02let me be in this moment and stay focused on the cleaning,
- 5:06stay focused on the gratitude, stay focused in the moment.
- 5:09But I was not in the moment. And it was triggered by the
- 5:12conversation that I was having with myself, which was an
- 5:15unresourceful conversation. So I'm going to challenge you
- 5:19all to pay attention to the conversation you're having with
- 5:22yourself. Taking inventory as of it.
- 5:24Is it of a high standard? Is it of a low standard?
- 5:27Is it something that you could sit there and say you're very
- 5:30proud of? I doubt it.
- 5:32So please go back, look at it, make sure that you are aware of
- 5:37your conversation because they sneak up on you.
- 5:40They certainly snuck up on me. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:43you have a blessed day and I will see you all tomorrow.
- 5:45Bye.
