- 0:03This is Living Waters of Grace, the teaching ministry of Clark
- 0:08Waffer, senior pastor of Calvary Chapel of Westmoreland, County
- 0:12of Greensburg, PA. Now here's Pastor Clark as he
- 0:16continues teaching through God's Word.
- 0:37We need to rejoice when the current events discourage us.
- 0:42We need to be rejoicing people when things don't seem to be
- 0:45going the way we would hope. When you have loved ones and
- 0:49family that turn from the Lord, when you have people that just
- 0:52blow you off, when you have people you work with that think
- 0:54you're nuts, when you have immediate family members perhaps
- 0:58that just don't seem to care about their souls, it's
- 1:01heartbreaking. It's discouraging, but we're
- 1:04victorious people. We have won.
- 1:07Christ is conquered. When you give your life to
- 1:09Jesus, you want to share the love and freedom you feel with
- 1:12those whom you care about most. It can be extremely difficult to
- 1:17find the strength in sharing the good news with those who refuse
- 1:21to believe it. The best thing that we can do is
- 1:23to focus on loving through patience, prayer, and respect,
- 1:28trusting that God will move. Today, Pastor Clark teaches us
- 1:32to rejoice even when things don't seem to be going the way
- 1:34we want. Jesus is coming back soon, and
- 1:38he's already won. Now here's Pastor Clark in
- 1:43Revelation Chapter 19 with today's edition of Living Waters
- 1:47of Grace. In the second coming, the Bible
- 1:49says every eye shall see him in the rapture of the tribulation
- 1:54begins right after we are taken out, and the millennial Kingdom
- 1:59begins at the second coming. There's enough information in
- 2:05the scriptures to make it clear that the raptures are quite
- 2:09different event than the second coming of Jesus Christ.
- 2:13And the reason I bring this up, there's a lot of confusion
- 2:15regarding these things in the body of Christ today.
- 2:18You have people who are pre Trib, mid trip, post Trib, all
- 2:21millennial, post millennial, all these different end time views,
- 2:25eschatological end time views. We Calvary Chapel are historic
- 2:30pre mill, pre Trib in the sense of our eschatology.
- 2:34And we're not alone. Good Bible teachers that you
- 2:36listen to in the radio like John MacArthur or Charles Swindoll,
- 2:40Charles Stanley, a lot of you guys listen.
- 2:42I know to some of these people there, they take the same
- 2:45position we do. So we're in good company with
- 2:47credible Bible scholars. However, I said this isn't
- 2:51anything to divide on with people who have different
- 2:54positions. The good news is whenever the
- 2:57Lord comes back to all realize we're right and they were wrong
- 2:59but if they're in Christ, we're all going to love each other
- 3:01anyway and it's not going to matter.
- 3:03But it is important in regard to how we're preparing for the
- 3:08Lord's return and how we live in light of that return.
- 3:11So let's look at the section that we're going to spend some
- 3:14time on Revelation chapter 19. As we see in verse 11, the
- 3:19heaven is open and behold a White Horse, a physical animal,
- 3:24a horse. We're all going to be riding
- 3:25horses when we come back with the Lord at the second coming.
- 3:28Now I don't like riding horses. I'm afraid of getting on them
- 3:31because they can go out of control, you know, and unless
- 3:33you're really trained to tell it what to do, it just has a mind
- 3:36of its own. But the good news is when we
- 3:38come back with the Lord, don't worry about that.
- 3:39We're going to get on the horse. The horse is going to know
- 3:41exactly where it's going, what it's supposed to do.
- 3:44We're just going to have to hold on.
- 3:45That's all we're going to have to do.
- 3:47But Christ is going to come back on this beautiful White Horse
- 3:50and we're all going to ride with him.
- 3:51And it says he who sat on him was called faithful and true
- 3:55capital F, capital T in your Bibles and righteousness.
- 3:59He judges and makes war. Now, this is a time that I think
- 4:03everyone of us should be looking forward to.
- 4:05I was thinking about the world the way it is today and the
- 4:08complete ignorance that it has toward the things of God, this
- 4:12independence of a Creator. Sometimes you wish you had this
- 4:16power in you, and we do. We have the Holy Spirit's power
- 4:18in us, but we don't have the power to bring forth judgment,
- 4:21do we? Only Christ has that power and
- 4:23authority. Sometimes you just long for
- 4:26certain people you know that will realize that God is the
- 4:29Lord. Amen.
- 4:31People that scoff and ridicule and laugh at you and reject you
- 4:35and think you're nuts. You just can't wait for the day
- 4:39that they realize how real God is and how holy he is and how
- 4:42just and how glorious he is. But this is a day that we have
- 4:46to wait for when Christ comes and the liberal thought the day
- 4:50is I'm not a Sinner. Why would he be talking about
- 4:52sin? I'm a good person and how
- 4:55there's no such place as hell. I would not even acknowledge
- 5:00that a place like that exists, some might say.
- 5:03Someone told me recently that a relative went to a neighbor and
- 5:06was telling the neighbor boy about the importance of knowing
- 5:09Jesus Christ and accepting Him as your Savior.
- 5:11Because if you don't have him as your Savior and you're Lord,
- 5:14you'll suffer the consequences one day of eternal hell.
- 5:17And the mother came over very angry and very disturbed that
- 5:22this young man had told her son about hell.
- 5:26And she said, we don't believe in such a place.
- 5:29That's morbid. We would never accept anything
- 5:32like that. Well, her authority certainly
- 5:34isn't the word of God, is it? And sometimes it's difficult for
- 5:38us because if we are Christians, we have to proclaim everything
- 5:42that this Bible teaches, even when it makes people disturbed
- 5:46and when it makes them uncomfortable.
- 5:48And that's the difference between churches in these last
- 5:51days that are proclaiming the truth and churches that are
- 5:55proclaiming the lie. But there is this liberal
- 5:57thought today. There's no place in this world
- 6:00today for any idea of judgment. There's no consequences for sin.
- 6:05We make up God in our own image and and how we want to think
- 6:09about him. That's what's called
- 6:10universalism. This pretense and delusion today
- 6:13that people have will one day be very, very costly.
- 6:17If you look at Matthew Chapter 7 for a moment, the slip in your
- 6:21Bible over to the left Matthew Chapter 7, it says in verse 21
- 6:26of Matthew 7, not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord shall
- 6:31enter into the Kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will
- 6:33of my Father in heaven. You want to underline it in your
- 6:36Bible. It isn't enough this to say you
- 6:37believe in Christ, but you need to be doing his will like Jesus
- 6:42when he was on earth. He's perfect God, perfect man.
- 6:45He says my will is to do the will of the Father and if we're
- 6:49his offspring, then we should have the same desire in our
- 6:53hearts to do the will of the Father.
- 6:55He said, many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we
- 6:57not prophesied in your name, cast out demons in your name and
- 7:01done many wonders in your name? And then I will declare to them,
- 7:05I never knew you. Depart from me, you who practice
- 7:08lawlessness. And won't that be a shock to
- 7:10your whole life, thinking you're on the right track and you're
- 7:13doing the right things? But meanwhile your heart is just
- 7:16not pure because you haven't allowed Christ to save you.
- 7:20And so you're trying to be a religious person.
- 7:22I think of all the institutions on the face of the earth today,
- 7:25many churches are very religious.
- 7:27They have statues, they have crosses, they have icons, They
- 7:30have all kind of spiritual atmosphere.
- 7:33And yet Jesus would say many times he could say to us today,
- 7:37just because we have a dove that represents the Holy Spirit of
- 7:40the cross here. He could say these, these people
- 7:42worship me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
- 7:47And so the consequences of believing a lie.
- 7:50That's why the apostle Paul every time we take the Lord's
- 7:53Supper, he says to examine yourself, whether you're in the
- 7:57faith every time that supper goes around.
- 8:00Would the God, if any of us here are posers and we're not
- 8:03Christians that we would take that we would examine ourselves
- 8:06and we'd hear the Spirit of God say you're still lost, you're
- 8:10phony, you need to get saved. And if you hear that, be
- 8:14thankful that he's shown you that you are in delusion.
- 8:18But if we can take that supper and we allow the Spirit to
- 8:21examine us and we have that assurance, blessed assurance,
- 8:25Jesus is mine. Oh what a foretaste of glory
- 8:28define ere salvation purchased of blood born of his Spirit
- 8:34washed in his blood. We can know that for sure, can't
- 8:37we? We have that assurance in us or
- 8:39our heart does not condemn us. God, the Lord Jesus Christ comes
- 8:45with crowns of triumph and glory and deity as we see here in this
- 8:49section of Revelation. He's all knowing.
- 8:52He has flaming eyes. His eyes and verse 12 are like a
- 8:56flame of fire, a holy judgement. Christ, as He looks upon you and
- 9:01me. His Word, the Word of God, is
- 9:03the instrument of His righteous judgement.
- 9:06Look at Hebrews chapter 4. Just move over to the left there
- 9:09a little bit a few books. Hebrews chapter 4 verse 11
- 9:14through 13. It says.
- 9:18Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest lest anyone fall
- 9:23according to the same example of disobedience.
- 9:26For the word of God and the Bible declares Christ as the
- 9:30Word. In the beginning was the Word
- 9:32and the word was with God and the Word was God.
- 9:35John chapter one verse one. Not like the Jehovah witnesses
- 9:38would say in the beginning was the Word and the word was with
- 9:42God and the Word was a God. No, Jesus Christ is God, not a
- 9:47created being. He's the second person of the
- 9:50Trinity, God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, self
- 9:54existent, always existing of 1 essence with the Father.
- 9:59It says the word of God is living and powerful and sharper
- 10:02than any 2 edged sword, piercing even the division of soul and
- 10:06spirit and of joints and marrow. And as a discerner of the
- 10:09thoughts and intents of the heart.
- 10:10You know, when we sit here and we examine ourselves in the
- 10:12Lord's Supper, I can just picture like the sword picking
- 10:16away at my heart, pulling stuff back.
- 10:17Clark, I want you to see this. I want you to acknowledge this.
- 10:20I want you to recognize this. I want you to let this go.
- 10:24Let me purify you, let me carterize these places of
- 10:29bankruptcy in your heart, and let my spirit make your heart
- 10:34dislike mine. He's a discerner.
- 10:36He knows every thought and intent of our heart.
- 10:39He knows every motive. And verse 13, it says there's no
- 10:42creature hidden from his sight. God sees the whole earth.
- 10:45He sees the whole world. He sees every human being, all
- 10:49things are naked and open to the eyes of him with whom we must
- 10:53give an account. There's nothing I can hide.
- 10:55I can hide things from you. You can hide things from me, but
- 10:58we can't hide anything from the Lord God.
- 11:02In verse 13, it says he was clothed with a robe dipped in
- 11:05blood and his name is called the Word of God.
- 11:09The judgment that confronts God's enemies in Isaiah chapter
- 11:1463. If you flip over there in the
- 11:16Old Testament, Isaiah chapter 63, this talks about this
- 11:21Armageddon, this final battle, one day that will come upon this
- 11:25earth and his second coming, the consequences of those who are
- 11:30going to fight against the Lord. Who is this?
- 11:34Who comes from Edom with dyed garments from Borzraw, This one
- 11:38who is glorious in his apparel, traveling in the greatness of
- 11:43his strength. And this is what we see depicted
- 11:44in Revelation 19. I who speak in righteousness,
- 11:48mighty to save. Why is your apparel read in your
- 11:51garments? Like one who treads in the
- 11:53winepress? Again, the same verbiage that's
- 11:55used in Revelation. I've trodden the winepress alone
- 11:59and from the people. No one was with me, for I've
- 12:02trodden them in my anger, and I trampled them in my fury.
- 12:05Their blood is sprinkled upon my garments.
- 12:07So what we see represented by Christ is this battle that will
- 12:12ensue when He comes back. For the day of vengeance is in
- 12:15my heart, and the year of my redeem has come.
- 12:19I look, but there was no one to help, and I wondered that there
- 12:21was no one to uphold. Therefore my arm brought
- 12:24salvation for me and my own fury.
- 12:27It sustained me. I've trodden down the people in
- 12:30my anger, made them drunk in my fury, and brought down their
- 12:33strength to the earth. His name is called the Word of
- 12:39God. Jesus is a visible word of the
- 12:43unseen God. I love it.
- 12:45It says in Hebrews regarding Christ himself and Hebrews
- 12:48chapter one verse 3. Hebrews chapter one verse 3.
- 12:52It says about Christ, who being the brightness of his glory in
- 12:56the express image of His person, on upholding all things by the
- 13:01word of his power. When he sat down by himself, He
- 13:04purged or cleanse us from our sins.
- 13:06He sat down at the right hand of the majesty on high, sat down on
- 13:10the right hand of the Father. He's the express image of his
- 13:14Father. And so as we look at this
- 13:18section of revelation, we understand that we're going to
- 13:23be with the Lord when he comes back.
- 13:25And as I described the difference between the rapture
- 13:28of the church and the second coming Christ, when he comes
- 13:31back and the second coming, his role will be absolute and
- 13:35authoritative. It'll be seen as an iron roll,
- 13:39invincible in this world. When he's rolling and reigning
- 13:43on this earth, there will be no more corrupt governments.
- 13:47There will be no immorality rolling and raging on the
- 13:50televisions and on the Internet, in the airwaves.
- 13:54It'll be a time of purity and righteousness, and nothing will
- 13:58be dealt with like it has been in that time compared to the way
- 14:03it is right now. Sometimes we wonder, why do the
- 14:06wicked rage, as the psalmist said, and the people imagine a
- 14:09vain thing? Why is it that people refuse to
- 14:12see their need of a Savior? Why is it that they refuse to
- 14:15repent? Christ has given Himself
- 14:18everything on behalf of the human race upon the lost, upon
- 14:22the Sinner, and the world keeps pushing their hands away from
- 14:25Him. During this time in the
- 14:27millennial Kingdom, when Christ rules with an iron hand for 1000
- 14:30years, there'll still be people born on the face of the earth.
- 14:34During that thousand years, there'll be sinners that will be
- 14:37born that will one day once again rise up at the end of that
- 14:40thousand years in anarchy, at the final battle of Gog and
- 14:43Magog. And that's right prior to the
- 14:46destruction of the earth, when the Bible says there will be a
- 14:49new heaven and a new earth that will be created.
- 14:54So his role will be unlike anything that we're experiencing
- 14:58today. Now, we have to keep in mind
- 15:00though, that God's hand is still on the universe.
- 15:03It never was off of it. Sometimes we wonder, though,
- 15:06don't we, God, how could you let this happen?
- 15:08Why did this go on? There's a purpose and a reason
- 15:11for everything that happens in human history.
- 15:14God's never sleeping. He's never ignoring the
- 15:17heartache and the pain of his people.
- 15:20Israel had to cry out for many hundreds of years before God
- 15:23sent a deliverer, didn't they? Before God sent Moses to pull
- 15:27them out of the bondage and horror of living under Pharaoh's
- 15:31regime? I think about the Jews and the
- 15:33Holocaust and those who cried out for help and for mercy.
- 15:37God was not silent in that time, for He had many Christians
- 15:42helping the Jews find a place of safety and to get out of the
- 15:46country. So they weren't killed in the
- 15:49ovens, but many were. But God was there, as He will be
- 15:53even during the tribulation when people were going through
- 15:56tremendous horror and heartache and heartbreak.
- 15:59And yet he'll have still on the earth a remnant, 144,000 people
- 16:03who will be going around sharing the good news of Jesus Christ,
- 16:07saying it isn't too late. Repent for the Kingdom of heaven
- 16:10is at hand. And Revelation chapter 14, if
- 16:13you move there for a moment, it describes in detail.
- 16:15And we went through this months ago regardless, starting this
- 16:20final reaping of the earth's harvest.
- 16:22Verse 14, it says, I looked, and behold a white cloud.
- 16:25And on the cloud sat one like the Son of Man, having on his
- 16:28head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.
- 16:32Another Angel came out of the temple crying with a loud voice
- 16:35to him who sat on the cloud. Thrust in your sickle and reap,
- 16:38for the time has come for you to reap, for the harvest of the
- 16:41earth is ripe. So he who sat on the cloud
- 16:44thrust in his sickle on the earth, and the earth was reaped.
- 16:47Then another Angel came out of the temple which is in heaven,
- 16:50he also having a sharp sickle. And another Angel came out from
- 16:54the altar who had power over fire.
- 16:56He cried with a loud cry to him who had the sharp sickle,
- 16:58saying, Thrust in your sharp sickle, and gather the clusters
- 17:02of the vine of the earth, for her grapes are fully ripe.
- 17:05So the angels thrust in the sickle into the earth, and
- 17:08gathered the vine of the earth, and threw it into the great
- 17:10winepress of the wrath of God. And the winepress was trampled
- 17:14outside the city and blood came out of the winepress up to the
- 17:18horse's bridal for 1600 furlong. So we see how this picture of
- 17:25the blood of the people who are being destroyed at this time, it
- 17:29says in verse 13, he's clothed with a robe dipped in blood and
- 17:33his name is called the word of God.
- 17:36Joel chapter 313 says put in the sickle for the harvest is ripe,
- 17:40come go down for his winepress is full.
- 17:43The vats overflow for their wickedness is great.
- 17:47I'll tell you when the Lord comes back at the second coming
- 17:49with us, the evil on the face of the earth, the hatred, the
- 17:52anarchy will be at an all time high and it's going to be a very
- 17:58dramatic scene when these armies on this earth will come against
- 18:02the armies of God. Every eye, the Bible says we'll
- 18:06see him when he returns. When the rapture comes, the
- 18:09people are going to be surprised.
- 18:11They're going to wonder where did everybody go?
- 18:13You guys probably saw some of these movies, the Left Behind
- 18:17series. I think they they were done
- 18:18rather well in the sense of least giving you a picture of
- 18:21what these things are going to be like.
- 18:22You know, someone's driving in a car and all of a sudden they're
- 18:25not there anymore. You know, people are in a movie
- 18:28theater and half the theaters wiped out.
- 18:30I don't know about the movies a day.
- 18:31If you're in a movie theater, probably most of the people be
- 18:34left behind, you know, But that's pretty bad out there in
- 18:37the theaters. You got people in airplanes
- 18:39flying and maybe the pilots a Christian, he's gone.
- 18:43It's going to be staggering. And the world's not going to
- 18:45know what to do with that. They're going to probably say
- 18:47some alien invasion. They're going to come up with
- 18:49some kind of ridiculous story how to deal with this in the
- 18:52news. But when Christ comes back the
- 18:54second time in verse 7 of chapter 1, it says, behold, He's
- 18:59coming with cloud, and every eye will see Him, even they who
- 19:04pierced him, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn because
- 19:08of him. Even so, Amen.
- 19:09I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end says the
- 19:12Lord who is and who was and who is to come the Almighty.
- 19:18What a glorious day that will be.
- 19:21Technology is here today. You can see events occurring
- 19:26live around the world on your Internet, right?
- 19:30Your computer. Many of you guys have cell phone
- 19:33capability with all kind of apps.
- 19:35I was thinking there should be an app for the Rapture and the
- 19:37second coming. We should market that stand, you
- 19:40know. But seriously, everybody's going
- 19:43to have the potential and capability of seeing all these
- 19:46things live as they come to pass.
- 19:49Will see him on the White Horse. They'll see him on the White
- 19:53Horse with His righteous armies following behind all of us
- 19:57throughout human history who are His elect.
- 20:02Will be following the King of kings and Lord of Lords on the
- 20:06horses. And the wicked on the earth at
- 20:09that time will look up in shock and horror to see millions upon
- 20:16millions of Christ's Kingdom. Converging on them from the sky,
- 20:22all riding on white horses. What a scene that's going to be
- 20:27verse 16 of chapter 19. And he has on his robe and on
- 20:32his thigh a name written King of kings and Lord of Lords, all who
- 20:39have denied the deity of Jesus Christ.
- 20:42And those who are currently denying, unless they repent,
- 20:45will see the error of their heresies.
- 20:48The Mormons, the race of Islam, the Jehovah Witnesses, they
- 20:53don't know who Jesus Christ is. They proclaim that they know
- 20:58him. Their literature looks like they
- 21:00know him. But they miss the most critical,
- 21:02important point. He is the King of kings and Lord
- 21:07of Lords. He comes in glory as God to this
- 21:11earth. We need to rejoice when the
- 21:16current events discourage us. We need to be rejoicing people
- 21:21when things don't seem to be going the way we would hope.
- 21:25When you have loved ones and family that turn from the Lord,
- 21:28when you have people that this blow you off, when you have
- 21:30people you work with that think you're nuts, when you have
- 21:34immediate family members, perhaps that this don't seem to
- 21:37care about their souls, It's heartbreaking.
- 21:39It's discouraging. But we're victorious people.
- 21:43We have one, Christ is conquered and we need to continually be
- 21:47reminded and we need to look at this section of Scripture and
- 21:51see the fulfillment of Christ's second coming again in power and
- 21:56glory to rule the earth as King of kings and Lord of Lords.
- 22:03You think I'm nuts? How many people think I'm nuts
- 22:05in here today? This, this is wild, man.
- 22:09This is like, this stuff is not of this world, this is
- 22:12futuristic, but it's all true. It's all going to come to pass
- 22:15just like it was from the prophets declaring the birth of
- 22:19Christ when he came the first time, right?
- 22:21Born in the Manger. Every detail of every prophecy
- 22:25was fulfilled 100% to the way that God said it would come to
- 22:30pass. And the same thing's going to
- 22:32happen when the rapture occurs, the fulfillment of prophecy, and
- 22:37the same thing's going to occur when Christ comes back with us
- 22:41at his second coming. Nothing's going to stop it.
- 22:44People can try to refute it today on The History Channel and
- 22:47say we're a bunch of nuts, we've drank the kool-aid or whatever.
- 22:51You know they're going to say this stuff.
- 22:53Don't worry about it. Just be strong in your faith,
- 22:56keep studying, know what you believe, why you believe it, and
- 23:01be able to share it in a rational and attractive and
- 23:05convincing way so that it'll make people think and it'll make
- 23:09people inquire. And I'll tell you, there's a lot
- 23:10of interest in the end of the world right now, isn't there?
- 23:13The Bible says no one knows a time or hour.
- 23:15You can't put any dates on it. Anytime someone sets a date, get
- 23:19away from their literature and their teachings, their heretics,
- 23:22you know, So we got like a lot of opportunity to talk to people
- 23:25because people are interested. So we're living in fantastic
- 23:28times, exciting times, glorious times.
- 23:30So let's all just keep heading in the right direction together
- 23:33as brothers and sisters in Christ and keep loving people
- 23:37and keep sharing your faith and ask God for patience because
- 23:40he's been patient with you and me, right?
- 23:42Still patient with us. So the love of God, that's what
- 23:46people need to hear about. We are digging into the Book of
- 23:51Revelation here on Living Waters of Grace.
- 23:53Pastor Clark is tackling this challenging book as we try to
- 23:57discern the messages that are within its pages.
- 24:01There's so much imagery and at times you're not always sure
- 24:05what's literal and what's metaphorical.
- 24:07At one point there's a reference to an adulterous woman riding on
- 24:12a beast. And as someone else mentioned,
- 24:14at one point it almost sounds like a rodeo from hell.
- 24:18And in actuality it kind of is. You learn about the downfall and
- 24:23demise of a sinful and rebellious world, falling down
- 24:27in worship to someone who is the anti hero, the enemy, Satan
- 24:33working his insidious ways into the minds of fallen people.
- 24:38It's sad and it's heartbreaking, but it's a classic story of good
- 24:43versus evil. Thankfully, we know how this
- 24:46story ends. Jesus wins, Jesus reigns, and
- 24:52evil is conquered once and for all.
- 24:56We pray and trust you've received Jesus as your Savior.
- 25:01But if you haven't, don't wait until the events in Revelation
- 25:04become what's happening on the streets.
- 25:07None of us wants you to be there at that time.
- 25:11Instead, we'd love for you to be with us in heaven as we
- 25:15celebrate the marriage supper with Jesus as his bridegroom.
- 25:21To get a better understanding of where we are in the Book of
- 25:24Revelation, to listen to any messages before or after this
- 25:28one, you can find them at our website,
- 25:31calvarychapelonline.com. That's it for today's edition,
- 25:37but we hope you'll want to hear Pastor Clark teach more from the
- 25:40Book of Revelation. It can be exciting to think
- 25:44about the future for believers, but it can feel a bit harrowing
- 25:48for those who don't believe. Come hear more next time on
- 25:51Living Waters of Grace.
