Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: To welcome you to a Google Hangout opportunity to join
- 0:04Speaker 1: a bunch of my esteemed guests in discussing a very
- 0:08Speaker 1: exciting program that we have available for you. And we're
- 0:10Speaker 1: going to tell you some more about it in just
- 0:12Speaker 1: a moment. But let's start from Dr. Campo, and I
- 0:15Speaker 1: want each one of you to introduce yourselves, and then
- 0:17Speaker 1: we'll come back around and talk a little bit about
- 0:19Speaker 1: this exciting news we have just for you.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Great.
- 0:23Speaker 3: I'm Carlos Campo, the president of Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
- 0:29Speaker 4: Hello, everyone.
- 0:30Speaker 5: I'm Julianne Sinek, and I serve as Assistant Vice President
- 0:33Speaker 5: for Professional and Continuing Education at Regent University.
- 0:36Speaker 6: Seth?
- 0:38Speaker 2: Hello, everyone.
- 0:39Speaker 4: I'm Seth Stone.
- 0:40Speaker 7: I serve as the Program Manager for Professional Development at
- 0:43Speaker 7: Regent University Professional and Continuing Education.
- 0:46Speaker 6: And Zinoran? Hello, everyone.
- 0:48Speaker 8: I'm Zinoran Holmes, and I'm over at Business Development for
- 0:51Speaker 8: TDJ Enterprise.
- 0:54Speaker 1: And I am T.D. Jakes, the founder of T.D. Jakes Enterprise,
- 0:59Speaker 1: the pastor of the Potter's House. And you might be
- 1:01Speaker 1: wondering in your mind, what in the world does the
- 1:03Speaker 1: president of a university and such an esteemed group of
- 1:06Speaker 1: people and colleagues have to do with a pastor? And
- 1:10Speaker 1: that's what we're going to clarify for you today. We
- 1:13Speaker 1: are really, really excited about a very unique and dynamic
- 1:18Speaker 1: opportunity that I think has been afforded us that we
- 1:20Speaker 1: want to extend to you and tell you a little
- 1:22Speaker 1: bit more information about it. It is the TD Jakes
- 1:25Speaker 1: School of Leadership. That's right, TD Jakes School of Leadership.
- 1:30Speaker 1: And its accreditation and support is coming from none other
- 1:33Speaker 1: than Regents University. Together, we have formed a team so
- 1:37Speaker 1: that we might facilitate opportunities for people who want to
- 1:41Speaker 1: sharpen their skills, who want to go back to school,
- 1:43Speaker 1: who want to develop leadership abilities for the 21st century
- 1:47Speaker 1: and tool what they have, in many cases, reposition themselves
- 1:51Speaker 1: to make themselves more marketable, to make themselves more effective
- 1:54Speaker 1: in the positions that they hold, just to be able
- 1:57Speaker 1: to become greater leaders, whether they're a leader than church
- 2:00Speaker 1: or a leader than business or a leader than life.
- 2:02Speaker 1: There are some tools and some tips that collectively we
- 2:05Speaker 1: can share with you that can kind of lessen that
- 2:08Speaker 1: learning curve and get you ready and get you prepared
- 2:11Speaker 1: so that you can bring your best self to the
- 2:13Speaker 1: table all the time and hone your skills so that
- 2:16Speaker 1: you can be more marketable. Dr. Campbell, when we start
- 2:19Speaker 1: talking about this opportunity and this online opportunity, what are
- 2:24Speaker 1: some of the benefits that people might consider in online education?
- 2:28Speaker 3: Well, I think there are two things that come to mind.
- 2:31Speaker 3: One is this idea of lifelong learning. As you just said, Mr. Jakes,
- 2:35Speaker 3: we're living in a day where education doesn't stop with
- 2:38Speaker 3: your last degree.
- 2:39Speaker 2: It continues.
- 2:40Speaker 3: And leadership is one of those skill sets that applies
- 2:43Speaker 3: across the board.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Whether you're working as an engineer, you could be a homemaker.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Leadership is one of those things that will impact your
- 2:49Speaker 3: life and improve your life overall. So the online opportunity
- 2:53Speaker 3: gives you the flexibility to be self-paced, to be able
- 2:57Speaker 3: to do it on your own terms in an asynchronous environment,
- 3:00Speaker 3: this idea that you can be learning at any time online.
- 3:03Speaker 2: That fits your schedule.
- 3:04Speaker 3: So I think those are some of the things that
- 3:06Speaker 3: come to mind that make this partnership so exciting.
- 3:08Speaker 6: You know, I'm very, very excited about it.
- 3:10Speaker 1: I think it's very, very important that you continue to
- 3:13Speaker 1: sharpen your skill to make yourself as marketable as possible,
- 3:17Speaker 1: as effective as possible, as useful as possible. One of
- 3:21Speaker 1: the things that I think that really people don't realize,
- 3:24Speaker 1: it is possible to have a degree or have a
- 3:27Speaker 1: position and have an opportunity and be skilled in that
- 3:30Speaker 1: particular field.
- 3:31Speaker 6: Area that you work in, but not be skilled as
- 3:34Speaker 6: a leader.
- 3:35Speaker 1: You can be competent intellectually and still lack the leadership
- 3:39Speaker 1: skills that you need in order to really take charge
- 3:42Speaker 1: and cause people to follow you. Julianna, what kind of
- 3:45Speaker 1: skills do you think we can present to those people
- 3:49Speaker 1: that would help them to really take what they have
- 3:51Speaker 1: learned perhaps throughout life or other courses and hone them
- 3:54Speaker 1: to become more effective as leaders?
- 3:57Speaker 5: What a great question. I mean, for both of us
- 3:59Speaker 5: as organizations, thinking about what Regent does so well and
- 4:03Speaker 5: what you do so well, Bishop, is training leaders.
- 4:07Speaker 4: That's what we do.
- 4:08Speaker 5: And so we've decided to integrate that mission within every
- 4:12Speaker 5: course that we are offering, particularly our certificate programs that
- 4:16Speaker 5: we're offering. And so the instructors are going to be
- 4:19Speaker 5: very purposeful about directing and guiding the students that are
- 4:24Speaker 5: participating in these courses to not only learn the application
- 4:28Speaker 5: and the real skills, but to actually apply them into
- 4:31Speaker 5: real world situations and to think like leaders, those critical
- 4:35Speaker 5: thinking skills and problem solving skills. And to think like
- 4:38Speaker 5: leaders so that when they come through and matriculate through
- 4:42Speaker 5: the program, they're actually well equipped to be Christian leaders
- 4:46Speaker 5: to change the world.
- 4:47Speaker 6: Can we talk a little bit more?
- 4:48Speaker 1: Can you go a little bit deeper into the certificate
- 4:51Speaker 1: program so that they can understand what is being offered?
- 4:54Speaker 6: Sure.
- 4:54Speaker 5: We have at least 12 certificate programs being offered through
- 4:58Speaker 5: the TD Jakes School of Leadership powered by Regent. And
- 5:02Speaker 5: those programs range from project management, entrepreneurship. We've also got
- 5:08Speaker 5: courses like digital media. And we've chosen these particular certificate
- 5:13Speaker 5: programs because the market research is showing that these are
- 5:17Speaker 5: the areas that are most in demand and the individuals
- 5:21Speaker 5: are in need to hone these skills. and to further
- 5:24Speaker 5: develop themselves professionally. And so these programs are affordable.
- 5:29Speaker 4: They're accessible.
- 5:30Speaker 5: They're online. You can certainly be a working professional and
- 5:35Speaker 5: still be able to take these programs successfully. But you're
- 5:39Speaker 5: also going to be in courses with colleagues that are
- 5:44Speaker 5: also professionals and leaders. So it's a great way to
- 5:46Speaker 5: also network.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Seth, when you start talking about programs like this, a
- 5:50Speaker 1: lot of times people are intimidated. First of all, there
- 5:53Speaker 1: are some people who are even intimidated by computers in general.
- 5:57Speaker 1: How user-friendly are these programs designed to be and how functional?
- 6:00Speaker 6: Any time of day, anywhere?
- 6:03Speaker 1: Or is there some reservation that people should have about
- 6:06Speaker 1: these types of programs?
- 6:07Speaker 7: No, we really designed this to be an incredibly user-friendly experience.
- 6:14Speaker 7: Our goal is to deliver excellence and the student experience
- 6:18Speaker 7: comes first and foremost. So we're putting ourselves in their shoes.
- 6:23Speaker 7: A lot of us have a tremendous amount of experience,
- 6:26Speaker 7: both administratively and as students in an online learning environment.
- 6:30Speaker 7: We've seen what works. We've seen what does not work.
- 6:34Speaker 7: Regent University has been a pioneer in the online learning
- 6:37Speaker 7: space going back into the 1990s even.
- 6:40Speaker 6: So it's something that.
- 6:42Speaker 2: We do extremely well.
- 6:44Speaker 4: It's very convenient.
- 6:47Speaker 7: We set it up so that students can be on
- 6:49Speaker 7: there 24-7, any time of the day they would like
- 6:52Speaker 7: to be. We're able to enroll students all around the
- 6:55Speaker 7: world because they have that level of connectivity. And it's
- 6:59Speaker 7: just such an amazing thing to see when you have
- 7:01Speaker 7: students from Africa, the United States, Asia. all working together
- 7:08Speaker 7: as members of a class, sharing experiences and adding value
- 7:12Speaker 7: to each other's lives over this integrated online platform.
- 7:17Speaker 4: It's just really.
- 7:18Speaker 6: Wonderful to see.
- 7:20Speaker 1: So that's kind of a unique advantage because you do
- 7:23Speaker 1: get some sort of support from other students and you're
- 7:26Speaker 1: not only learning from the program and the instructor, but
- 7:29Speaker 1: also the degree of learning that happens through the cross-pollinization
- 7:34Speaker 1: of ideas between these various students.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Exactly, exactly.
- 7:38Speaker 7: Part of the learning process that goes along with the
- 7:41Speaker 7: lifelong learning that Dr. Campo and Julianne were talking about
- 7:45Speaker 7: is people bringing their life experiences and sharing that in
- 7:48Speaker 7: addition to this training.
- 7:50Speaker 4: There's there's such an increased value add there. And we
- 7:53Speaker 4: want to make it as easy as possible for.
- 7:55Speaker 7: These people to connect and participate in this opportunity.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Let me get with you for just a moment and
- 8:03Speaker 1: talk about I know that you realize that I've been
- 8:05Speaker 1: teaching leadership conferences and bringing some of the best of
- 8:09Speaker 1: the best together for thousands and thousands of people have
- 8:12Speaker 1: come for years and years and years. Can you talk
- 8:14Speaker 1: about what people who are taking these programs, how they
- 8:17Speaker 1: can combine the strengths of what we do through Project
- 8:20Speaker 1: Gideon and what we're doing through our leadership conferences and
- 8:24Speaker 1: how this marries together to become a perfect union for
- 8:28Speaker 1: students who really want an opportunity to go further?
- 8:31Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 8:32Speaker 8: Bishop Diggs, as you said, you've been bringing leaders together
- 8:35Speaker 8: for years, but this is another element.
- 8:38Speaker 4: That's added to it that goes along with the lifelong learning.
- 8:41Speaker 8: So they can get their practical teachings that you have
- 8:45Speaker 8: through their ministry and through your leadership conferences. But now
- 8:49Speaker 8: that we're partnering with the region through the TDJ School
- 8:52Speaker 8: of Leadership, we can begin to expand as well.
- 8:55Speaker 4: So now they take the things that they learn from
- 8:57Speaker 4: you Apply them to the.
- 8:59Speaker 8: Skill sets that they have in the workforce and to
- 9:02Speaker 8: prepare as leaders. And then they can go further as well.
- 9:05Speaker 8: So when you look at Project Gideon for pastors and
- 9:08Speaker 8: leaders under the age of 40, there are things that
- 9:11Speaker 8: they need to learn from the spiritual side. But there's
- 9:13Speaker 8: also things that they need to learn from the practical
- 9:16Speaker 8: side as well. So when you're looking at starting a project,
- 9:19Speaker 8: it would be great to have a certificate in project
- 9:22Speaker 8: management so that you can effectively execute what God has
- 9:26Speaker 8: called you to do. In addition, when you have the
- 9:30Speaker 8: other conference that we have for pastors and leaders over
- 9:33Speaker 8: the age of 40, the Episcopal experience, pastors and leaders
- 9:38Speaker 8: looking forward, where do I need to go from here?
- 9:40Speaker 8: How do I prepare my leaders behind me? Well, these
- 9:44Speaker 8: certificate programs are structured for that so that they can
- 9:47Speaker 8: prepare them in another practical way so that the organization
- 9:51Speaker 8: of the ministry can continue forward as well as the
- 9:54Speaker 8: organism of recruitment can move forward as well.
- 9:57Speaker 1: You know, I'm excited about it because I think it
- 10:00Speaker 1: is the best of both worlds. For years, I've seen
- 10:02Speaker 1: universities have academics and professors to train people in a
- 10:07Speaker 1: particular subject or course, but then the application of that
- 10:11Speaker 1: training into practical hands-on information, sometimes the person who was
- 10:16Speaker 1: instructing you to do it had never done it themselves.
- 10:19Speaker 1: And there are some things that you only learn when
- 10:21Speaker 1: you really put your hands on the wheel and begin
- 10:23Speaker 1: to lead yourself just organically from the experience. And so
- 10:28Speaker 1: I've really tried to fill in that gap with providing practical,
- 10:32Speaker 1: pragmatic leadership skills for people who've been on ground level
- 10:35Speaker 1: zero exactly how to do it. You can learn why
- 10:39Speaker 1: to do it at school and where to get the
- 10:41Speaker 1: information from. But exactly how to implement that information in
- 10:45Speaker 1: a very practical and pragmatic way has been a very
- 10:48Speaker 1: important part of leadership. And you really have to realize
- 10:51Speaker 1: either you're going to be a leader and a trendsetter
- 10:54Speaker 1: or you're going to be destined to follow other people's leadership.
- 10:57Speaker 1: And if you suspect that you might have leadership down
- 11:00Speaker 1: inside of you, that somewhere down inside of you, there
- 11:03Speaker 1: is a bugle blowing to charge at life and to
- 11:07Speaker 1: overcome obstacles and to reach your goals and to really
- 11:10Speaker 1: make a difference in.
- 11:12Speaker 6: The world in a powerful way.
- 11:13Speaker 1: This is an opportunity not to end up with just
- 11:17Speaker 1: a position for which you don't have the credentials and
- 11:20Speaker 1: the background and the wherewithal or even the tools or
- 11:23Speaker 1: skill set to affect But this is to kind of
- 11:26Speaker 1: put some substance up under it and some practicality up
- 11:29Speaker 1: under it, both from an academic perspective as well as
- 11:33Speaker 1: an experiential perspective, so that you can be a leader
- 11:37Speaker 1: that can really meet the challenge. Dr. Halpole, when we
- 11:40Speaker 1: start talking about this sort of thing, In the academic world,
- 11:44Speaker 1: is there a trend toward online learning as opposed to
- 11:48Speaker 1: people going on campus? I mean, is this a fluke
- 11:51Speaker 1: or is it something that people tend to be gravitating
- 11:54Speaker 1: to more and more?
- 11:56Speaker 3: No, I think it's quite clear that this is a
- 11:58Speaker 3: fluke the way the automobile was a fluke to the
- 12:00Speaker 3: horse and buggy. So I think it's good. Online learning
- 12:04Speaker 3: is here to stay. Not to say it's going to
- 12:06Speaker 3: completely eliminate the need for face-to-face or traditional learning.
- 12:10Speaker 6: Sure.
- 12:10Speaker 2: But, you know.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Bishop Jenks, the whole idea of what we thought about
- 12:15Speaker 3: the traditional student has been obliterated because of online learning.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Right now, there are more students studying who are not
- 12:23Speaker 3: in that 18 to 24-year-old timeframe. So most of us are,
- 12:27Speaker 3: you know, 32 and over. The average student age online
- 12:30Speaker 3: is about 45 years old. So what we're finding is
- 12:33Speaker 3: that these are folks who understand that learning at their
- 12:37Speaker 3: own pace isn't watered down. One of the things that
- 12:40Speaker 3: you hinted out earlier was we've all been in classrooms
- 12:43Speaker 3: where it's a conversation between a faculty member and one
- 12:46Speaker 3: or two other people in the class. And everybody else
- 12:48Speaker 3: is either tweeting or they're playing solitaire.
- 12:52Speaker 2: But in an online class, you cannot hide. And if
- 12:56Speaker 2: you want to hide.
- 12:57Speaker 3: From a cultural perspective or you may have an embarrassment
- 13:00Speaker 3: in a traditional classroom in an online environment, you don't
- 13:03Speaker 3: have that same barrier. So I think it really is
- 13:05Speaker 3: the best of both worlds from that perspective. But it
- 13:08Speaker 3: does demand some discipline. So I think that's one of
- 13:11Speaker 3: the things that students should realize going in early. You're
- 13:14Speaker 3: looking at classes that are designed to be user friendly.
- 13:17Speaker 3: You're not going to have a problem with the technology.
- 13:19Speaker 3: but you'd better set some time aside, especially early on
- 13:22Speaker 3: as you transition and really dig into these classes. You know,
- 13:26Speaker 3: as you pointed out, leadership is both caught and taught
- 13:30Speaker 3: and your own ministry is a reflection of that. And
- 13:32Speaker 3: the fact that we have academics standing side by side
- 13:35Speaker 3: with people in ministry is to me, one of the
- 13:39Speaker 3: most exciting things about this partnership. For too long, the
- 13:41Speaker 3: church and academia have in some ways pushed each other away,
- 13:45Speaker 3: even intentionally. And this is a very intentional attempt to say,
- 13:49Speaker 3: We need to do this hand in hand because to
- 13:51Speaker 3: be more effective for God's kingdom, we need both.
- 13:54Speaker 2: It's not either or, it's both and.
- 13:56Speaker 6: Well, you know, you raise a very interesting perspective.
- 13:59Speaker 1: And one of the things that I think is very,
- 14:00Speaker 1: very important and exciting about the trends toward people as
- 14:06Speaker 1: they are 25 and older going back to school. I
- 14:10Speaker 1: know I got to a certain stage in my life
- 14:11Speaker 1: and I thought, wow, when I was in school, I
- 14:14Speaker 1: wasn't really taking it seriously. I was trying to see
- 14:16Speaker 1: who was cute in the classroom and all that sort
- 14:18Speaker 1: of thing. But as you mature and you get out
- 14:21Speaker 1: in life and you see how important it is to
- 14:23Speaker 1: have skills, that maturity will cause you to go back
- 14:26Speaker 1: and really appreciate an academic experience. And that's why I
- 14:31Speaker 1: think it's important that we take the handcuffs off the
- 14:34Speaker 1: idea that, you know, this is just for people 18
- 14:37Speaker 1: to 25, when in fact, you may be 30, you
- 14:41Speaker 1: may be 35, you may be 40, you may be
- 14:43Speaker 1: 50 and say, wait a minute, I'm now at a
- 14:45Speaker 1: point in my life where I am mature enough and
- 14:48Speaker 1: focused enough to get this done. But Dr. Campo, when
- 14:52Speaker 1: you start talking about discipline, Does that mean that I
- 14:56Speaker 1: understand that there's nobody there to make you log on
- 14:59Speaker 1: and take the class?
- 14:59Speaker 6: That's part of it.
- 15:01Speaker 1: But one of the benefits is you can take the
- 15:03Speaker 1: class around your schedule when the kids go to bed,
- 15:07Speaker 1: when you've done this or that or the other or
- 15:08Speaker 1: early in the morning or however fits your need.
- 15:11Speaker 6: You can kind of tailor make this to fit your
- 15:13Speaker 6: own need. Isn't that right?
- 15:15Speaker 2: No question.
- 15:15Speaker 3: As a matter of fact, it's one of the reasons
- 15:17Speaker 3: we've seen such an increase in In terms of military
- 15:21Speaker 3: and other spouses, and this is male and female spouses,
- 15:25Speaker 3: many of whom would not have the opportunity because of
- 15:28Speaker 3: their life situation to walk into a traditional classroom. Even
- 15:31Speaker 3: if that classroom is 10 minutes away, they can't make
- 15:33Speaker 3: it happen because of their work situation, their life situation. Well,
- 15:37Speaker 3: now online education allows that flexibility. I cannot tell you.
- 15:42Speaker 3: We've met students all over the world that find this
- 15:44Speaker 3: new community online, which is both spiritual and academic. I
- 15:48Speaker 3: think that's one of the exciting things as well, because
- 15:50Speaker 3: as a Christian institution, we are very interested in this
- 15:54Speaker 3: idea of spiritual development. We know it happens even in
- 15:57Speaker 3: the online environment and that these students feel the power
- 16:00Speaker 3: of God. coming right through the computer screen. As students
- 16:04Speaker 3: get together and minister to one another, beyond what they're learning,
- 16:07Speaker 3: they're learning how to minister in a variety of contexts
- 16:11Speaker 3: and feeling the very ministry of God. The students are
- 16:13Speaker 3: getting together to pray and study. They're getting together to
- 16:16Speaker 3: minister to one another and to learn leadership skills. So
- 16:19Speaker 3: it really is a remarkable environment. And while there is
- 16:21Speaker 3: no panacea, online learning literally meets you where you are.
- 16:25Speaker 2: And will continue to push you and challenge you.
- 16:28Speaker 1: One of the things that makes me excited about it,
- 16:29Speaker 1: the Bible said, I will restore unto you the years
- 16:32Speaker 1: of the canker worm, the palmer worm, and the locust
- 16:34Speaker 1: fate of. Maybe you got off track some sort of way,
- 16:38Speaker 1: and you're reaching a point now that you really need
- 16:41Speaker 1: the Holy Spirit to restore those lost years and for
- 16:44Speaker 1: you to catch up for lost time, lost vision, and
- 16:47Speaker 1: perhaps even lost opportunities. To be able to pray and
- 16:51Speaker 1: to have other people praying with you and have praying
- 16:54Speaker 1: professors at the TDJ School of Leadership. When you get
- 16:58Speaker 1: those kinds of opportunities to invite the Holy Spirit and say,
- 17:01Speaker 1: you know, I need restoration. I need my mind refreshed.
- 17:05Speaker 1: I need the courage to go back into this. And
- 17:08Speaker 1: then you get in that program and you go after
- 17:10Speaker 1: what God has for you. It's amazing how the Holy
- 17:13Speaker 1: Spirit will restore what you have. When we start looking
- 17:16Speaker 1: at this program and we start looking at our leadership conference,
- 17:20Speaker 1: we've done some preliminary talk talking about graduations and that
- 17:24Speaker 1: sort of thing for those students who do online training
- 17:27Speaker 1: and can come to the leadership conference. How will those
- 17:30Speaker 1: two things marry together?
- 17:32Speaker 9: They marry together perfectly because What we're setting up is
- 17:36Speaker 9: you can actually take the online certificate classes or the
- 17:39Speaker 9: leadership institutes in particular, which is a.
- 17:42Speaker 4: Lot more intense.
- 17:43Speaker 8: And upon graduating with the Leadership Institute, we're setting it
- 17:48Speaker 8: up so you'll be prepared to graduate within one of
- 17:51Speaker 8: our leadership conferences.
- 17:52Speaker 4: So we're marrying what you know online and.
- 17:55Speaker 8: We're bringing you together with other leaders to graduate you.
- 17:59Speaker 8: And even with our conferences, as you're coming as a participant,
- 18:03Speaker 8: We're now able to set up where just your participation
- 18:07Speaker 8: in our conference, you can receive a certificate, continuing education
- 18:11Speaker 8: credits for the conference that you've gone through by the
- 18:15Speaker 8: conferences that we've been on.
- 18:16Speaker 4: So it's an amazing thing, bringing everything together, making the.
- 18:21Speaker 8: Online experience marry with the live experience and really encouraging
- 18:26Speaker 8: others as well.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Julianne, when we look at the upcoming Megafest that we're
- 18:31Speaker 1: getting ready to have, and I know Regence is going
- 18:33Speaker 1: to have boots on the ground, we're excited about the
- 18:36Speaker 1: partnership between the two of us. Can you talk a
- 18:38Speaker 1: little bit about what those people who are coming to
- 18:41Speaker 1: Megafest might experience should they take the time to stop
- 18:43Speaker 1: by and see what we have?
- 18:45Speaker 5: Oh, they're going to be in for a treat. We're
- 18:47Speaker 5: going to have an enormous booth. You can't miss us.
- 18:51Speaker 5: It'll be the TD Jakes School of Leadership powered by
- 18:53Speaker 5: Regent right there in the Expo Center Exhibit Hall. We
- 18:58Speaker 5: will have a number of Regent University staff that will
- 19:02Speaker 5: be there, as well as folks from Potter's House and
- 19:05Speaker 5: TD Jakes Enterprises to assist you with registering for courses.
- 19:10Speaker 5: You know, one of the things that we are aware
- 19:12Speaker 5: of is that just as you touched on, there may
- 19:15Speaker 5: be individuals who are coming that haven't been, you know,
- 19:18Speaker 5: at a university in a long time. And maybe they're
- 19:22Speaker 5: reengaging back into the higher education space. And so we're
- 19:26Speaker 5: going to be there to answer your questions. You'll be
- 19:29Speaker 5: able to register live right there. We'll have, I think,
- 19:33Speaker 5: 20 to 25 laptops set up and you'll be able
- 19:35Speaker 5: to register right there in the booth. Ask questions. get
- 19:39Speaker 5: more information. It's going to be an amazing time.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm excited about it. I can't wait to see it.
- 19:46Speaker 1: I've heard great things about the setup that you all
- 19:49Speaker 1: have prepared. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm looking
- 19:51Speaker 1: forward to seeing all of the wonderful displays and opportunities
- 19:55Speaker 1: for you to sit down and talk to somebody directly
- 19:57Speaker 1: about what your goals are, what your objectives are, and
- 20:00Speaker 1: kind of get a little bit of counseling, lose your intimidation,
- 20:03Speaker 1: and sign up and take the course. that really meet
- 20:06Speaker 1: your need. Seth, do I have to live in the U.S.
- 20:10Speaker 1: in order to take this course? Is it available to
- 20:12Speaker 1: people outside of the continental U.S.
- 20:14Speaker 4: Absolutely not.
- 20:16Speaker 7: This is open to anyone, anywhere around the world, no
- 20:19Speaker 7: matter where you reside.
- 20:20Speaker 4: If you can get online, you can participate in one
- 20:23Speaker 4: of our programs.
- 20:24Speaker 6: That's part of the beauty of it.
- 20:26Speaker 1: You know, one of the things that I run into
- 20:27Speaker 1: all the time is that I have a huge following
- 20:29Speaker 1: of people out of Australia, out of South Africa, out
- 20:33Speaker 1: of Lagos, Nigeria. They can't always get to Megafest. They
- 20:36Speaker 1: can't always get to our leadership conference, but they can
- 20:39Speaker 1: get to this experience. And when they get to it online,
- 20:43Speaker 1: they can have access to the academic opportunities that they
- 20:47Speaker 1: often find difficult to attain elsewhere.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely.
- 20:52Speaker 7: There's, you know, and whenever we have lectures from our professors,
- 20:56Speaker 7: those are live sessions, but they're also recorded and they're
- 21:00Speaker 7: placed in the online learning platform that we deliver our
- 21:03Speaker 7: courses in. So as a student, even the lectures are
- 21:07Speaker 7: on your time on demand and you move through the
- 21:11Speaker 7: class at your pace.
- 21:12Speaker 1: You know, I want to make a special appeal to
- 21:14Speaker 1: pastors who might be watching this entire Google conversation that
- 21:20Speaker 1: we're having. We're hanging out here. Maybe the Holy Spirit
- 21:24Speaker 1: didn't just have you log on by accident. You may
- 21:26Speaker 1: really be anointed to preach. You may really have a
- 21:29Speaker 1: passion for souls. But in today's climate, if you don't
- 21:33Speaker 1: have good leadership skills and sometimes good business skills, you
- 21:38Speaker 1: kind of stop the growth of the church because the
- 21:40Speaker 1: anointing itself is not enough. for doing business at the bank,
- 21:45Speaker 1: negotiating contracts, for setting up human resources departments, for conducting
- 21:50Speaker 1: staff meetings. You may have a burning passion and came
- 21:53Speaker 1: down off the mountain with your eyes ablaze with glory,
- 21:56Speaker 1: but that blaze goes out pretty quickly when you find
- 21:58Speaker 1: that you need to have some other skills to support
- 22:01Speaker 1: your call and anointing.
- 22:02Speaker 6: Don't stifle the church or ignore the.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Reality that you may really be called and really be anointed,
- 22:08Speaker 1: but you need to go back and kind of strengthen
- 22:10Speaker 1: your leadership skills so that you can really take the
- 22:13Speaker 1: church to the.
- 22:15Speaker 6: Same level as your anointing. Sometimes you're anointed to go.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Further, but if you don't have the leadership skills to
- 22:20Speaker 1: go with it, sometimes it stunts that anointing and that
- 22:24Speaker 1: passion that you have for Christ.
- 22:26Speaker 7: Dr.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Kemp, how many people, religious leaders, are you seeing making
- 22:30Speaker 1: the turn back to the stall and saying, I need
- 22:32Speaker 1: to strengthen myself so that I can have the same
- 22:36Speaker 1: academic and business skills.
- 22:38Speaker 6: Up under me as I have passion and anointing to
- 22:40Speaker 6: do the work of God?
- 22:41Speaker 2: You know, it's extraordinary.
- 22:43Speaker 3: We've actually begun an entire church relations ministry in the
- 22:47Speaker 3: region just to meet that demand. Because as never before,
- 22:51Speaker 3: we're seeing this whole idea of bringing all of your
- 22:54Speaker 3: heart and your head together in ministry and letting the
- 22:57Speaker 3: Holy Spirit enliven that. Talk about rivers of living water
- 23:00Speaker 3: flowing out of men and women across this country. So
- 23:03Speaker 3: I think that's one of the things that we've been
- 23:05Speaker 3: absolutely astounded by is how ministry leaders are saying, you
- 23:08Speaker 3: know what, I need to take a sabbatical and I'm
- 23:10Speaker 3: going to step out and I'm going to make a
- 23:12Speaker 3: commitment to this. And what I say to parents and
- 23:15Speaker 3: students all over the country is this, when you're ready
- 23:17Speaker 3: to learn, And God's spirit is on you. Just get
- 23:20Speaker 3: out of their way because it's going to be a
- 23:22Speaker 3: remarkable situation. You know, a student who's not ready to
- 23:25Speaker 3: learn shouldn't be in a classroom. And one of the
- 23:27Speaker 3: things I love about online learning is these students are
- 23:29Speaker 3: not there because they're in some Greek society, which is
- 23:32Speaker 3: OK if that's what they want to do.
- 23:34Speaker 2: They're not there for a sports team. They're here to learn.
- 23:37Speaker 3: And what you're going to find in those classrooms is
- 23:39Speaker 3: they're very different from what you're going to remember from
- 23:41Speaker 3: your college days. These are students from all over the
- 23:44Speaker 3: world who are committed to learning. And you're going to
- 23:47Speaker 3: learn in a context that's really enriching.
- 23:50Speaker 1: You know, I'm excited because all Addie says, when the
- 23:52Speaker 1: student is ready, the teacher will appear. And I believe
- 23:56Speaker 1: that this program has appeared because some of you are ready.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Your heart's cry is to go further in education and
- 24:02Speaker 1: academics to strengthen what you've been called to do. And
- 24:05Speaker 1: maybe you're not a pastor, but maybe you want to
- 24:07Speaker 1: support that ministry. We need CFOs and COOs and accountants
- 24:13Speaker 1: with CPAs.
- 24:14Speaker 6: And who can really.
- 24:16Speaker 1: get down to the brass tacks of leading the church
- 24:18Speaker 1: forward and making it relative and effective in the world today.
- 24:22Speaker 1: But not only that, we also need people who understand
- 24:25Speaker 1: business so that we can have Christians in business, in politics,
- 24:30Speaker 1: in retail, in wholesale development and distribution. Every echelon of life,
- 24:35Speaker 1: we need to have people there of faith. And I
- 24:38Speaker 1: think that people of faith best teach people of faith.
- 24:42Speaker 1: You don't have to step over all of this atheistic
- 24:45Speaker 1: ideology in order to just eat the meat and throw
- 24:47Speaker 1: away the bones. You have a praying teacher coupled with
- 24:51Speaker 1: a praying student so that together we can go before
- 24:54Speaker 1: God and say, Lord, open up for this woman and
- 24:57Speaker 1: open up for this young man. what he needs to
- 24:59Speaker 1: have to be able to form effective leadership skills and
- 25:03Speaker 1: do what God has called them to do. And together,
- 25:06Speaker 1: I just believe that there's a way for you to
- 25:09Speaker 1: get things on track, even if you've gotten off track. Julia,
- 25:12Speaker 1: how important do you think it is to couple together
- 25:15Speaker 1: people of faith with people of faith?
- 25:17Speaker 5: It's extremely important. It's what distinguishes us in this entire offering.
- 25:23Speaker 5: I had a chance to sit through a project management
- 25:27Speaker 5: certificate program course a week or so ago. And I
- 25:31Speaker 5: was not surprised, but I was amazed to see the
- 25:35Speaker 5: level of engagement with the instructor and the student. The
- 25:38Speaker 5: instructor was recognizing and acknowledging just that, that there is
- 25:43Speaker 5: a spiritual journey as well as an academic and a
- 25:46Speaker 5: professional journey that's taking place within these students. And we're
- 25:50Speaker 5: very big on that spiritual formation. And so to just
- 25:54Speaker 5: watch before our eyes, to see that professor pray, to
- 25:58Speaker 5: see them actually have a concern and care, not just
- 26:02Speaker 5: about their, again, their professional development, but about their spiritual
- 26:06Speaker 5: development as well, really just made this all worthwhile. It's
- 26:11Speaker 5: the reason we do what we do. And you can't
- 26:14Speaker 5: get that anywhere. It's what really distinguishes us.
- 26:16Speaker 4: It's very important.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Well, I am absolutely thrilled about this. I'm really excited
- 26:21Speaker 1: about it. And we've talked about it and you've entered
- 26:24Speaker 1: into a conversation about this exciting TD Jakes Leadership School
- 26:31Speaker 1: of Leadership. And it's supported by Regents University to create
- 26:34Speaker 1: a climate where for you to go back and take
- 26:36Speaker 1: back what the enemy stole or to strengthen yourself or
- 26:39Speaker 1: to climb mountains and accomplish goals. And we're going to
- 26:42Speaker 1: have a tremendous booth at Megafest where you can come
- 26:45Speaker 1: by and just sit back and talk with people and
- 26:46Speaker 1: really get hands-on opportunities to learn, sign up for the courses,
- 26:50Speaker 1: talk about the courses. get information like that. But I
- 26:53Speaker 1: also know that there are some people, Z, that really
- 26:56Speaker 1: can't get to Megafest. How do they benefit from the
- 26:59Speaker 1: conversation we had? If you heard this conversation right now
- 27:02Speaker 1: and you want to become a student at TDJ School
- 27:05Speaker 1: of Leadership and you accept the challenge to sharpen yourself
- 27:09Speaker 1: and bring your best self forward, what can they do
- 27:12Speaker 1: right now to access the information that we're sharing with them?
- 27:17Speaker 4: Right now, they can go to the website, tdjakesleadership.com. We
- 27:22Speaker 4: have a website set up for you. It gives you
- 27:25Speaker 4: all of the information.
- 27:26Speaker 6: It gives you the.
- 27:26Speaker 4: Purpose about what we're doing.
- 27:28Speaker 6: It gives you the mission.
- 27:29Speaker 10: You can see all of the courses coming up in
- 27:31Speaker 10: the fall that you can register today. As a matter
- 27:35Speaker 10: of fact, we have pre-registration happening right now where you
- 27:38Speaker 10: can register for $ 29 to hold your spot.
- 27:41Speaker 6: Twenty nine dollars.
- 27:43Speaker 4: Twenty nine dollars to hold your spot. And then you
- 27:45Speaker 4: have until the class starts.
- 27:47Speaker 8: We start in September to finish the balance and you're
- 27:50Speaker 8: in because classes are filling quickly.
- 27:53Speaker 4: So we wanted to make it affordable.
- 27:55Speaker 6: We wanted to.
- 27:55Speaker 4: Make it effective.
- 27:57Speaker 6: For you as well.
- 27:58Speaker 4: But it gives you all the information. We have a
- 28:00Speaker 4: resource tab on there. So go to TD Jakes leadership
- 28:04Speaker 4: dot com.
- 28:04Speaker 6: You have all the information. Listen, we want to hold
- 28:07Speaker 6: you a spot. Don't let anybody take your spot. I
- 28:10Speaker 6: want to encourage you to log on. Go to the website.
- 28:13Speaker 6: Take a look around. See what intrigues you.
- 28:16Speaker 1: And this unique partnership has been born between Regents University
- 28:21Speaker 1: and TDJ to provide a learning opportunity for you to
- 28:25Speaker 1: climb over obstacles that may have imprisoned you. the creativity
- 28:30Speaker 1: down inside of you so that you can maximize every
- 28:33Speaker 1: moment of your life. Dr. Campbell, before we close, don't
- 28:36Speaker 1: you think that providing this type of skillset is indeed
- 28:41Speaker 1: a form of ministry itself?
- 28:43Speaker 2: There's no question that it is.
- 28:46Speaker 3: I know that the research indicates exactly what you've been saying,
- 28:49Speaker 3: and that is that the primary reason that for student success,
- 28:54Speaker 3: beyond their preparation, beyond the academics, beyond the curriculum, is
- 28:59Speaker 3: that the instructor believes that that student can succeed. And
- 29:02Speaker 3: the instructors at Regent don't just believe that. They believe
- 29:05Speaker 3: that each of these students was created for a specific
- 29:08Speaker 3: purpose by their creator that can only be fulfilled in them.
- 29:12Speaker 3: And so when you talk about the power of the
- 29:14Speaker 3: Holy Spirit entering a classroom and being a ministry opportunity,
- 29:18Speaker 3: I will tell you I have met Regent graduates.
- 29:20Speaker 2: And I didn't say graduates that are holding advanced degrees.
- 29:23Speaker 3: Graduates certificate programs, graduates who have taken five, 10 classes
- 29:27Speaker 3: from us who said, these classes.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Changed my life.
- 29:31Speaker 3: So we believe that this is a ministry opportunity and
- 29:34Speaker 3: we're believing the Lord that he is going to raise
- 29:36Speaker 3: up leaders from this school of leadership that are not
- 29:39Speaker 3: going to just change Dallas or the region, but frankly,
- 29:42Speaker 3: change the U.S.
- 29:42Speaker 6: And the world.
- 29:44Speaker 1: My God, you do something when I think about praying
- 29:46Speaker 1: teachers and teachers who are going before God and asking
- 29:50Speaker 1: God to bless me and to help me as a student.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Wouldn't your experience in school have been so much different
- 29:56Speaker 1: if you had had that opportunity to invite the Holy
- 29:59Speaker 1: Spirit to participate.
- 30:00Speaker 6: In the learning process?
- 30:01Speaker 1: Tear down some phobias and fears that are inherent in
- 30:05Speaker 1: our background or childhood or people who told us what
- 30:07Speaker 1: we couldn't be or couldn't have. Now's the time to seize.
- 30:11Speaker 1: this opportunity. Why don't you log on to our website?
- 30:16Speaker 1: Give them this website one more time. And I want
- 30:18Speaker 1: you to write this down. I want you to really
- 30:22Speaker 1: seize this moment. And I want you to take this challenge.
- 30:26Speaker 1: This is, I believe, God creating a format and a
- 30:30Speaker 1: platform that will fit your life schedule and give you
- 30:33Speaker 1: an opportunity to go higher in the kingdom of God.
- 30:36Speaker 6: Is that all right?
- 30:37Speaker 2: Yes.
- 30:38Speaker 4: So You can go to tdjakesleadership.com. That's tdjakesleadership.com.
- 30:46Speaker 6: Log on.
- 30:47Speaker 4: We have it prepared for you. And get ready to
- 30:50Speaker 4: embark on your future. You don't have to have a degree.
- 30:54Speaker 8: You have certificate programs to strengthen what you're trying to do.
- 30:57Speaker 8: If you have a bachelor's degree or a master's degree
- 31:00Speaker 8: and you need to develop your skill sets, You can
- 31:03Speaker 8: go on to the tbjsleadership.com as well because these classes
- 31:08Speaker 8: are for everyone to prepare you.
- 31:10Speaker 4: To go forward as a leader because the world is.
- 31:13Speaker 6: Looking for leaders.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Listen, ding, ding, the bell is ringing. School is about
- 31:18Speaker 1: to start and we are waiting for you.
- 31:22Speaker 6: Take care.
