- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready for another episode of Learn Cantonese with Fexingo? Luna: Always! What are we learning today? Lucas: Well, last episode we covered head and face. I thought we'd continue with body parts — today we'll focus on the hand and foot. Luna: Oh, perfect! I've been wanting to know how to say 'hand' and 'foot' in Cantonese. Lucas: If Fexingo has been helping you make progress with Cantonese, consider supporting the show at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. A couple of dollars a month genuinely keeps these episodes going. Luna: Yeah, it really does make a difference. And now, let's get into today's words. Lucas: So, the word for 'hand' is 手. I'll say it slowly: 手. Can you try? Luna: 手. Lucas: That's it! Now, 'foot' is 腳. 腳. Luna: 腳. Lucas: Perfect. Now, let's add 'finger' — 手指. 手 is hand, 指 is finger. Together: 手指. Luna: 手指. Lucas: And 'toe' is 腳趾. 腳 is foot, 指 is finger, but for toes we say 腳趾. 腳趾. Luna: 腳趾. So it's basically 'foot finger'? Lucas: Exactly! Now let's use them in a sentence. 'I have two hands' — 我有兩隻手. 我有 means I have, 兩 means two, 隻 is a classifier for body parts, 手 is hand. Listen: 我有兩隻手. Luna: 我有兩隻手. Lucas: Great. Now 'I have ten fingers' — 我有十隻手指. 十 is ten. 我有十隻手指. Luna: 我有十隻手指. Lucas: And 'I have two feet' — 我有兩隻腳. 我有兩隻腳. Luna: 我有兩隻腳. Lucas: Last one: 'I have ten toes' — 我有十隻腳趾. 我有十隻腳趾. Luna: 我有十隻腳趾. This is fun. Can I try a sentence myself? Lucas: Of course! Luna: Umm... 我有一隻手? Wait, that means I have one hand. Is that right? Lucas: Exactly right! But usually we have two hands. 我有兩隻手 is more common. Luna: Right, right. So let me practice: 我有兩隻手, 我有兩隻腳, 我有十隻手指, 我有十隻腳趾. Lucas: You nailed it! Let's do a quick recap. Repeat after me: 手. Luna: 手. Lucas: 腳. Luna: 腳. Lucas: 手指. Luna: 手指. Lucas: 腳趾. Luna: 腳趾. Lucas: Now, if you want to say 'my hand hurts', you say 我隻手痛. 我 means my, 隻 is classifier, 手 is hand, 痛 means hurt. 我隻手痛. Luna: 我隻手痛. And 'my foot hurts' would be 我隻腳痛? Lucas: Exactly! You're catching on. So if you ever stub your toe, you can say 我隻腳趾痛. Luna: 我隻腳趾痛. I hope I don't need to use that too often. Lucas: Me neither. But now you know how to say it. Alright, that's all for today's episode. Keep practicing these words. See you next time! Luna: Bye! And don't forget to support the show at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. See you!
