- 12:55Speaker 1: out to Chickam for stopping by today. Yeah, really excited
- 13:00Speaker 1: about the Major League Cricket Week going on here in
- 13:04Speaker 1: Los Angeles, and as a self professed LA Night Riders fan,
- 13:09Speaker 1: particularly interested in the fact that the LA team has
- 13:13Speaker 1: its own stadium. It's right here in Pomona, the Fairplex,
- 13:17Speaker 1: and so they'll be holding their games this week, starting
- 13:20Speaker 1: with the July first game against the Washington Freedom. Really
- 13:24Speaker 1: looking forward to seeing that game, of course, and I'll
- 13:26Speaker 1: break down a little bit more of the details. And yes, folks,
- 13:29Speaker 1: this is the same LA Night Riders team that's associated
- 13:33Speaker 1: with the Cold Cut of Night Riders back in India,
- 13:35Speaker 1: so Shahra Khan's cricket team. And so it's really really
- 13:39Speaker 1: cool to see the expansion of cricket into the US
- 13:42Speaker 1: and it has arrived, and it's ahead of the twenty
- 13:44Speaker 1: twenty eight Olympics. As you guys know, the Fairplex will
- 13:47Speaker 1: be the actual site of where the cricket games will
- 13:50Speaker 1: be happening for the Olympics in twenty twenty eight. All
- 13:54Speaker 1: very exciting stuff going on around cricket and looking forward
- 13:57Speaker 1: to sharing more here, not only through the hour here,
- 13:59Speaker 1: but throughout the week as we bring in doctor Roy
- 14:02Speaker 1: to this party. How are you Doctor Roy?
- 14:04Speaker 20: Hey, guys, this is doctor boywo today's word on the Avenue.
- 14:07Speaker 20: In film and TV news, Made in India, A Titan
- 14:10Speaker 20: Story continues to win widespread acclaim, with co producer Problein
- 14:14Speaker 20: Sando revealing that the team always believed audiences would connect
- 14:17Speaker 20: with the series. She also praised actor Jim Sarab's commitment
- 14:20Speaker 20: to authenticity, where she shared that he chose to shave
- 14:24Speaker 20: his head rather than to wear a wig for the role.
- 14:26Speaker 20: The team is now officially considering an Emmy campaign for Serb,
- 14:30Speaker 20: confident that his nuanced portrayal deserves global recognition. In media news,
- 14:35Speaker 20: comedian and podcaster Akosh Singh has signed with UTA, making
- 14:40Speaker 20: a significant step in his growing entertainment career. Known for
- 14:43Speaker 20: his stand up specials in popular podcast appearances, sing continues
- 14:47Speaker 20: to expand his presence across comedy, digital media and live entertainment.
- 14:52Speaker 20: An Avenge News, a statue of Marishi Shushurata, revered as
- 14:57Speaker 20: the father of surgery, has been unveiled at the the
- 15:00Speaker 20: Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, honoring one of history's
- 15:03Speaker 20: earliest and most influential medical pioneers. The tribute celebrates Shushuta's
- 15:09Speaker 20: groundbreaking contributions to surgical science while highlighting the enduring legacy
- 15:14Speaker 20: of India's ancient medical knowledge on modern healthcare worldwide. That's
- 15:18Speaker 20: it for today's word on the avenue until next time.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Thank you so much, doctor Roy. Looking forward to talking
- 15:25Speaker 1: to Venita Kilnani today. This song right here is called
- 15:29Speaker 1: Leh from the Cocktail To soundtrack.
- 15:32Speaker 14: Hear me dear guess.
- 15:50Speaker 8: Cut along heads heaven mutin you hung other.

- 18:33Speaker 8: I'm dead. I'm dead.
- 18:34Speaker 17: I show him to me, so me my s.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Calljit sing breath them on at top. Butcharia, it's like
- 19:30Speaker 1: the Avengers getting together on a song right there. The
- 19:33Speaker 1: song is called Lehter and it's from the Cocktail two soundtrack.
- 19:37Speaker 1: It's a great soundtrack, really dominated our charts here over
- 19:40Speaker 1: the weekend, and this week we're introducing the Welcome to
- 19:44Speaker 1: the Jungle soundtracks. A lot of good stuff going on
- 19:47Speaker 1: in Indian cinema. And now, folks, let's bring in Mirah
- 19:50Speaker 1: Sharma to the show. Who brings us a weekly mindful
- 19:53Speaker 1: sass right here?
- 19:54Speaker 21: How are you, Mira hey, Sammy, Hey, everyone, Mirah Sharma
- 19:58Speaker 21: here with your weekly doughs of mindful sus helping you
- 20:02Speaker 21: stay self assured, spirited and strong. This week's reminder be
- 20:08Speaker 21: your own person. It's so easy to get caught up
- 20:12Speaker 21: in what everyone else is doing, thinking, or expecting from you.
- 20:16Speaker 21: But the most magnetic people are the ones who know
- 20:18Speaker 21: who they are and aren't afraid to own it. Build
- 20:22Speaker 21: a life that excites you. Have your own hobbies, your
- 20:26Speaker 21: own passions, and your own dreams.
- 20:29Speaker 8: The more connected you are to.
- 20:31Speaker 21: Yourself, the less you'll look outside of yourself for validation.
- 20:37Speaker 21: So this week, do something because you want to do it.
- 20:40Speaker 21: Follow your curiosity, trust it, instincts. Be the main character
- 20:45Speaker 21: in your own story.
- 20:47Speaker 1: You've got this. Thank you, Mira. Mirah's awesome. She speaks
- 20:51Speaker 1: to you. You know what I mean. It's great love it.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Thank you so much, Mira, Thanks for stopping by. This

- 23:10Speaker 1: Are you lazer batter? Everybody? So much going on in
- 23:17Speaker 1: sports around the country, around the world actually, and of
- 23:21Speaker 1: course here we have the big World Cup stuff going
- 23:23Speaker 1: on yesterday South Africa Canada, today Germany plays, Brazil plays.
- 23:31Speaker 1: We have the Major League cricket stuff going on here.
- 23:35Speaker 1: But then there's so much going on in around the
- 23:37Speaker 1: world that's been pretty scary. A lot of big news
- 23:39Speaker 1: going on in the form of earthquakes, Venezuela of course
- 23:42Speaker 1: being hit hard. And now it's time for us to
- 23:45Speaker 1: bring in Daniel Johnson from the UN News Department to
- 23:48Speaker 1: bring it all to life for you. Daniel, how are you?
- 23:52Speaker 22: This is you and News Today with me Daniel Johnson
- 23:55Speaker 22: the headlines. Millions of people in Venezuela have likely been
- 23:58Speaker 22: impacted by the earthquake disaster. AID teams say will have
- 24:02Speaker 22: the latest. Meanwhile, the UN Rights chief condemns more deaths
- 24:06Speaker 22: in US custody linked to ice raids, and as deadly
- 24:09Speaker 22: ebola virus continues to spread in Diar Congo. The World
- 24:13Speaker 22: Food Program warns that there's also a massive hunger crisis
- 24:16Speaker 22: there too. Aid agencies have highlighted massive needs across Venezuela,
- 24:23Speaker 22: caused by a double earthquake disaster that has killed at
- 24:26Speaker 22: least two hundred and thirty five people so far. Search
- 24:29Speaker 22: and rescue four people trapped under the rubble is still
- 24:31Speaker 22: the top priority.
- 24:33Speaker 1: In all.
- 24:33Speaker 22: Up to six point eight million people could be impacted
- 24:36Speaker 22: by the emergency, according to the UN Agency for Migration IOM.
- 24:40Speaker 22: More than forty one thousand people have also been reported
- 24:43Speaker 22: missing through an online portal, and MID reports that rescuers
- 24:47Speaker 22: are digging with their bare hands in some quake hit centers.
- 24:50Speaker 22: A team's report that people are still terrified to re
- 24:53Speaker 22: enter what where their homes. Many medical needs are critical,
- 24:56Speaker 22: said doctor Sira Ugate, Health Emergencies Director for the Pan
- 25:00Speaker 22: American Health Organization PAHO.
- 25:02Speaker 23: The overriding priorities to urgently provide life saving health care
- 25:07Speaker 23: and rescue as many people as possible because the first hours,
- 25:11Speaker 23: as you now are critical to saving life.
- 25:14Speaker 22: Dr Ugat described medical teams under pressure to triage mass
- 25:18Speaker 22: casualties and provide DRAWMA care for broken bones, burns, and
- 25:22Speaker 22: other injuries associated with buildings collapsing, particularly in areas where
- 25:26Speaker 22: search and rescue operations are ongoing. The UN Human Rights
- 25:30Speaker 22: Chief Volka Turk expressed alarm on Friday at the reported
- 25:33Speaker 22: deaths and custody of nineteen people so far this year
- 25:36Speaker 22: while they were being held by US Immigration and Customs
- 25:39Speaker 22: Enforcement or ICE. The High Commissioner has urged prompt action
- 25:44Speaker 22: to prevent further loss of life in ICE custody, while
- 25:47Speaker 22: calling for independent investigations into all deaths involving the force.
- 25:51Speaker 22: Here's U and Human Rights spokesperson Mate Hurtado.
- 25:54Speaker 24: The Danis, who include entire families with children and medically vulnerable,
- 26:00Speaker 24: are frequently reported to face in human conditions of the
- 26:04Speaker 24: tensions and treatment included inadequate healthcare and food, and exposure
- 26:09Speaker 24: to disease, auto breaks in overcrofit facilities.
- 26:12Speaker 22: These deaths have happened amid a broad expansion of the
- 26:15Speaker 22: US immigration detention system. The UN Human Rights Office said
- 26:19Speaker 22: today ICE detains more than sixty thousand people, compared to
- 26:23Speaker 22: some forty thousand in early twenty twenty five. According to
- 26:27Speaker 22: the latest official data, there are plans to further increase
- 26:30Speaker 22: the detention capacity up to ninety thousand people by the
- 26:33Speaker 22: enter twenty twenty six, said Miss Hatado to the Democratic
- 26:38Speaker 22: Republic of the Congo, where humanitarians warn that in addition
- 26:42Speaker 22: to the deadly spread of Ebola disease, there's also a
- 26:45Speaker 22: massive hunger crisis there too. Across the country, twenty six
- 26:48Speaker 22: and a half million people, or almost one in four Congolese,
- 26:52Speaker 22: do not have enough food. That's according to the UN
- 26:55Speaker 22: World Food Program WFP, which warns that more than three
- 26:58Speaker 22: point six million people are all ready facing emergency levels
- 27:01Speaker 22: of hunger. This increases the likelihood of them moving to
- 27:05Speaker 22: find food, work, and safety, and those movements can make
- 27:08Speaker 22: it much harder to stop the virus, the agency explained.
- 27:12Speaker 22: Another long standing problem is the active conflict in eastern
- 27:15Speaker 22: dr Congo that's pushing people into affected health zones. In
- 27:19Speaker 22: security and access constraints are making it harder for humanitarian
- 27:23Speaker 22: teams to reach the communities who need help most, WFP said.
- 27:27Speaker 22: The agency cited the story of Jacques, whose five year
- 27:30Speaker 22: old daughter died from eblah after developing a high fever
- 27:34Speaker 22: and bleeding from her ears. His wife remains in an
- 27:37Speaker 22: isolation centre and WFP is providing hot meals there so
- 27:41Speaker 22: that patients and contacts can stay under observation. Jacques now
- 27:45Speaker 22: cares for his thirteen family members with a month's un
- 27:48Speaker 22: food ration that will only last two weeks. When it
- 27:51Speaker 22: runs out, Jacques has no idea how he will feed them,
- 27:54Speaker 22: WFP said in a call for more resources.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Daniel Johnson, Thank you, Daniel, thank you so much. Daniel
- 28:02Speaker 1: appears every week here on the Bridge as part of
- 28:05Speaker 1: Ruckus Avenue's partnership with the un News Department. Looking forward
- 28:10Speaker 1: to be joined here by Venita Kilnani after this song.
- 28:13Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to talking to her about her comedy work.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Here's the song.
- 28:17Speaker 25: Ishkmastanamedy jabmana.
- 28:35Speaker 13: Abm sabi juda.
- 28:58Speaker 26: Loa legal legal, Lisa tea.
- 29:04Speaker 15: Ernie's shaky there.
- 29:08Speaker 5: However, it's a nata, turn me to me.
- 29:13Speaker 15: It's a nata.
- 29:14Speaker 8: Give it to.
- 29:17Speaker 15: Honey, yu bo the food.

- 31:27Speaker 18: Who queen in the Danavadana say, let the man holda
- 31:34Speaker 18: hell yaaaa baa.
- 31:42Speaker 17: Quandama.
- 32:05Speaker 1: All right, folks, been looking forward to this. We're now
- 32:09Speaker 1: joined by Benita herself. How are you, Venita? Good morning
- 32:12Speaker 1: to you, Hey, good morning Sammy.
- 32:14Speaker 8: How are you.
- 32:15Speaker 1: We're doing well. We've been excited to talk to you.
- 32:18Speaker 1: We've been seeing you all over our social media, you know,
- 32:21Speaker 1: feeds for years and years, but to bottle you here
- 32:23Speaker 1: in an interview, this is going to be fun for us.
- 32:27Speaker 28: Thanks so much. I'm honored to be here and I'm
- 32:29Speaker 28: excited to chat.
- 32:31Speaker 1: Everybody knows about how our parents used to take pictures
- 32:37Speaker 1: a campaign, I would call it, or just a cool
- 32:39Speaker 1: thing that you've been doing out there. When did you
- 32:42Speaker 1: realize that, you know, what you have done here from
- 32:46Speaker 1: a concept perspective, was successful. I guess the moment was
- 32:50Speaker 1: probably the next morning when you woke up and you're like,
- 32:52Speaker 1: oh my god, this thing is taken off. Explain that
- 32:55Speaker 1: moment to us.
- 32:58Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, So I think it was during the pandemic
- 33:01Speaker 4: when everyone was kind of you know, at home and
- 33:03Speaker 4: I and I'm very close to my my family, so
- 33:06Speaker 4: I always hang out with them. And I I was
- 33:09Speaker 4: going through some old photo albums and I was like,
- 33:11Speaker 4: no one's.
- 33:12Speaker 28: Smiling in them.
- 33:13Speaker 4: And I guess they explained to me that smiling was
- 33:16Speaker 4: not something that was super common because you were supposed
- 33:20Speaker 4: to kind of look a little more humble and a
- 33:22Speaker 4: little more I don't know what the word is, but
- 33:25Speaker 4: just you know, smiling was a little too much or something.
- 33:27Speaker 28: So they just didn't do it.
- 33:29Speaker 4: And so I thought that was interesting, and because I'm
- 33:32Speaker 4: like overly smiling all the time, so I didn't. It
- 33:35Speaker 4: was just new to me to hear that point of view.
- 33:38Speaker 28: So I said, hey, let's let's make a video.
- 33:41Speaker 4: Today about this, and then we kind of got stressed
- 33:44Speaker 4: up and did it. And yeah, the next the next
- 33:46Speaker 4: few hours, it started to, you know, gain more traction,
- 33:50Speaker 4: and then I think it hit a million views or
- 33:52Speaker 4: something like that, and it was I was like, oh, wow,
- 33:55Speaker 4: this is really relatable and it was really funny for
- 33:58Speaker 4: I think I made a part two, three, four, and
- 34:01Speaker 4: now I just continue on and sprinkle it in now
- 34:05Speaker 4: like years later.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Oh, it's a genius. I love it. It's so awesome.
- 34:08Speaker 1: I think you capture the moment so well. What was
- 34:10Speaker 1: the reaction from the parents when they saw it.
- 34:14Speaker 4: Oh, my parents are super funny. They're they're very quirky,
- 34:17Speaker 4: and they loved it. They were like, oh my gosh, like,
- 34:20Speaker 4: let's do some more and.
- 34:21Speaker 28: So then you know, we just they just yeah, they
- 34:24Speaker 28: just really liked it. I thought it was hilary.
- 34:26Speaker 1: It's so great. Oh my goodness. It reminds me specifically
- 34:29Speaker 1: of a picture my mom had sent to my dad
- 34:31Speaker 1: during their courtship. And it's just like that she was
- 34:34Speaker 1: just like standing with both her hands like listed against
- 34:37Speaker 1: the tree, and it was just the funniest thing. So
- 34:39Speaker 1: every time I see you, it reminds me of that
- 34:41Speaker 1: interaction right there between my folks. So that's so funny.
- 34:46Speaker 28: That's so funny.
- 34:46Speaker 4: Yeah. I think a lot of people did message me
- 34:48Speaker 4: and they were like, oh, this is so similar to
- 34:51Speaker 4: my family or you know, and I was like, Oh,
- 34:54Speaker 4: that's nice. We're all kind of, you know, a little similar.
- 34:57Speaker 1: We're connected by these photos and these photographs sessions. It's great. Yeah, Beneatha,
- 35:03Speaker 1: you you have a fascinating background, and you've accomplished so
- 35:06Speaker 1: much in our business. And for me when I look
- 35:09Speaker 1: at your story, you came up as an actor, as
- 35:12Speaker 1: an improviser, and here you are. You know, you've been
- 35:16Speaker 1: trained not necessarily on the phone either, if you if
- 35:19Speaker 1: you know what I mean, and and here you are
- 35:21Speaker 1: you adjusted to a world that is I guess it's
- 35:27Speaker 1: it's ones and zeros an algorithm world, if you will.
- 35:30Speaker 1: And how did that improvisational background prepare you for this,
- 35:37Speaker 1: you know, world of being in the world of the algorithm.
- 35:42Speaker 4: I think that I just grew up with a lot
- 35:44Speaker 4: of heavy comedy, Like I watched maybe like Mister Bean
- 35:48Speaker 4: and I Love Lucy, and that was mostly.
- 35:50Speaker 11: All I watched.
- 35:51Speaker 4: And so I think I just, you know, as a
- 35:53Speaker 4: young child, was always just interested in physical comedy. And
- 35:57Speaker 4: I think that that's kind of like my main way
- 36:01Speaker 4: of living life. Like I always find those things funny
- 36:05Speaker 4: in every situation that I'm in, and I kind of
- 36:08Speaker 4: just kind of note and then I'll either make a
- 36:10Speaker 4: video about it or I don't know, I'll write something
- 36:14Speaker 4: about it. So it's kind of just something that's ingrained
- 36:16Speaker 4: in me. And an improv is great because it helps
- 36:20Speaker 4: you to think on your feet. It helps you to
- 36:22Speaker 4: develop characters, and I think that's important when you're writing.
- 36:25Speaker 1: Yeah, you kind of stretch out of, you know, your
- 36:28Speaker 1: comfort zone in different ways. You're asked to be different. Yeah,
- 36:32Speaker 1: you know, it's it's really awesome, and I think it
- 36:35Speaker 1: gives you courage to take a chance at doing something
- 36:39Speaker 1: different and you know, be beside yourself to judge yourself,
- 36:42Speaker 1: which is really cool. And I think you do that
- 36:43Speaker 1: a lot in your work because you're you're doing something
- 36:46Speaker 1: that is capturing a culture. It's capturing you know, up
- 36:49Speaker 1: what we've done just to kind of use those photographs
- 36:52Speaker 1: as an example in a way that everybody relates to.
- 36:56Speaker 1: And I think that you you did, you did awesome. There.
- 36:59Speaker 28: Let's get that's very nice.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Yeah, let's get a two background there, Benita, I've known
- 37:04Speaker 1: you for a while. You started in music, so yeah,
- 37:07Speaker 1: we've known each other for a long time.
- 37:09Speaker 4: Studied it.
- 37:10Speaker 28: I studied in science.
- 37:11Speaker 4: Actually I never really studied like science was my main training.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Tell us about this. So you've gone from a world
- 37:20Speaker 1: of stem background to music and to comedy, and now
- 37:25Speaker 1: you're you're you're kind of an entrepreneur in your own way.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Where you're here, you're making these big deals with these
- 37:30Speaker 1: big companies and putting out content. Tell us about this journey.
- 37:35Speaker 1: This is remarkable, and especially for people in our community
- 37:38Speaker 1: because a lot of us sometimes don't have the courage
- 37:40Speaker 1: to step out of that first career.
- 37:42Speaker 4: That you are.
- 37:44Speaker 28: Oh that's that's yeah, I know.
- 37:46Speaker 4: I I think growing up with Indian parents, you know,
- 37:50Speaker 4: education was always taught that. You know that it's very
- 37:53Speaker 4: important for us to be in this country and be
- 37:57Speaker 4: educated and make something of ourselves. And I really really
- 37:59Speaker 4: love so I grew up just surrounded by animals and
- 38:04Speaker 4: I've always wanted to do some type of.
- 38:06Speaker 28: Science, and so I did that. I got a double.
- 38:08Speaker 4: Master's science, a biology to be specific, and I did
- 38:13Speaker 4: some research at cal Tech. So so I love researching
- 38:16Speaker 4: and I love science overall, but I also love entertaining.
- 38:20Speaker 28: People and being silly and doing comedy. So my parents
- 38:24Speaker 28: are like, that's great.
- 38:25Speaker 4: You know, you can pursue entertainment, but it's awesome.
- 38:28Speaker 28: If you also, you know, have some education. So I
- 38:31Speaker 28: did this schooling. I did use it for a while.
- 38:34Speaker 4: I'm a private tutor, so I do on the side
- 38:36Speaker 4: sometimes tutors students in math science.
- 38:38Speaker 28: For fat prep. But you know, I initially also.
- 38:43Speaker 4: Wanted to be a pop singer. So throughout college I
- 38:46Speaker 4: was doing talent shows and I was writing my own music,
- 38:49Speaker 4: and I ended up joining an independent record label and
- 38:52Speaker 4: then so I had around eight years of a pop career.
- 38:56Speaker 4: But then yeah, that kind of transitioned into my comedy
- 38:59Speaker 4: and acting that I'm doing now. And I and to
- 39:02Speaker 4: answer your question about the courage, I think I think
- 39:05Speaker 4: it's really cool that if we can just see, you know,
- 39:09Speaker 4: who we are individually, and we note that if we
- 39:12Speaker 4: have some type of any inkling of like wanting to
- 39:15Speaker 4: do anything in life, you should always call it and
- 39:19Speaker 4: pursue it.
- 39:20Speaker 28: And I think for Indians it's.
- 39:21Speaker 4: Great to you know, follow whatever your dream is, you know,
- 39:25Speaker 4: whether it's education or history or law or being adopted, like.
- 39:30Speaker 28: Whatever it is.
- 39:31Speaker 4: I think it's important to just believe in yourself and
- 39:35Speaker 4: have the courage to do literally anything you want.
- 39:37Speaker 28: You want to be an.
- 39:38Speaker 4: Entrepreneur if you want, like literally anything, So I think
- 39:42Speaker 4: that's important.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Thank you for sharing that. That's awesome, Thank you so much.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Uh you sort a sketch show Mother's Day Mamathon to
- 39:51Speaker 1: Pluto TV, and you've shot campaigns for ESPN, Volkswagens. You
- 39:57Speaker 1: know when when you know you, you're you? Of course
- 39:59Speaker 1: you you picked up a following on let's just say
- 40:02Speaker 1: the small screen of the phone. And now you're coming
- 40:05Speaker 1: up with concepts for these big brands and trying to
- 40:09Speaker 1: elevate what they do. And here they are, they're tugging
- 40:12Speaker 1: on your cape to help them do that. What was
- 40:14Speaker 1: that feeling like? You know, what was that like for
- 40:16Speaker 1: you to adjust from being something like here you are
- 40:19Speaker 1: you're just addressing your own audience to now you have
- 40:22Speaker 1: to problem solve for a brand that you know, needs
- 40:26Speaker 1: Vanita as part of their their equation in terms of
- 40:29Speaker 1: putting their brand. Tell us about that.
- 40:31Speaker 28: Yeah, no, it's really really nice.
- 40:34Speaker 4: Like you know, I love making people laugh and I
- 40:37Speaker 4: love being creative, and so the fact that I can
- 40:40Speaker 4: do my own Instagram and TikTok and make my own content,
- 40:44Speaker 4: but then having directors and casting directors notice me throughout
- 40:48Speaker 4: that is very it's very nice, very exciting.
- 40:51Speaker 28: It keeps me motivated and it inspires me to keep going.
- 40:55Speaker 4: And then yeah, so over I think I've booked seventy
- 40:58Speaker 4: one commercials in my career.
- 41:00Speaker 1: Incredible.
- 41:02Speaker 28: So yeah, so it's been really really.
- 41:03Speaker 4: Awesome, like you know, auditioning, working with agents and managers
- 41:08Speaker 4: and casting directors and big brands, and it's really really fun.
- 41:11Speaker 28: To I like to play, so you know, getting to
- 41:14Speaker 28: play for a day or two in.
- 41:15Speaker 4: A commercial and then seeing the final product. It's really
- 41:18Speaker 4: fun and it's really exciting. And I love auditioning. I
- 41:21Speaker 4: love when I book something, so I will continue.
- 41:25Speaker 28: To do that.
- 41:25Speaker 4: It's really really really fun. And TV film is obviously
- 41:30Speaker 4: the other side of it, and I'm also auditioning for
- 41:33Speaker 4: for that as well.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Oh that's awesome. That's awesome. I'm going to bring up
- 41:37Speaker 1: something really funny. You know, the Internet decided. The Internet
- 41:40Speaker 1: decided that you're a doppel ganger of a cricket player.
- 41:43Speaker 28: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 41:44Speaker 1: And what I really love about your Beneatha is instead
- 41:47Speaker 1: of fighting it, you embraced it and you ran with it,
- 41:52Speaker 1: and you made something really funny out of it. Tell
- 41:55Speaker 1: us about this, tell us about when you start to
- 41:57Speaker 1: see that the internet is saying and as a comedian,
- 42:02Speaker 1: what a moment.
- 42:05Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I think it's best to like join into
- 42:08Speaker 4: the fun. And I had I had never heard of
- 42:11Speaker 4: this person before, but I was like, oh cool, I
- 42:13Speaker 4: guess we kind of do look like And so I
- 42:15Speaker 4: was like, yeah, I'm going to run with it.
- 42:17Speaker 28: So, you know, I got this wig and I and
- 42:19Speaker 28: I was like, I'm going to put it on.
- 42:21Speaker 1: And yeah.
- 42:22Speaker 4: One thing went to another another, and we ended up
- 42:24Speaker 4: communicating and we met.
- 42:26Speaker 28: Actually in person in Texas. I think we were in
- 42:29Speaker 28: Texas in Houston, Texas, and we made a video together
- 42:34Speaker 28: and this was a couple of years ago, and it was.
- 42:36Speaker 4: It was hilarious and he's really nice. He's really I
- 42:39Speaker 4: guess he's a legend in the world of cricket.
- 42:42Speaker 28: And I was just like, cool, let's make this video.
- 42:45Speaker 4: And then I think it kind of went viral too,
- 42:48Speaker 4: and there was some more news about it. But but yeah,
- 42:50Speaker 4: I just thought it would be fun. And you know,
- 42:52Speaker 4: it's so silly that I look like him.
- 42:54Speaker 28: But I was like, why not have some fun?
- 42:57Speaker 1: Said, well, you've made something so funny out of it,
- 43:00Speaker 1: and of course we're talking about show up there. Who
- 43:02Speaker 1: is the great legendary cricket player there? What a moment.
- 43:06Speaker 1: I think that was just something really cool that you
- 43:08Speaker 1: ran with and embraced. And then I'm hearing of course
- 43:12Speaker 1: the two of you guys got together with this video.
- 43:15Speaker 1: What that's so awesome? So such a cool story. Yeah,
- 43:19Speaker 1: was great, well embraced? Well, yeah, absolutely, Benetha. You there
- 43:24Speaker 1: are kids out there right now that look at you
- 43:29Speaker 1: wide eyed with wonder, saying, what an incredible story. What's
- 43:34Speaker 1: some advice that you would give them? As far as
- 43:37Speaker 1: you know, especially for ours South Asians, we just don't.
- 43:40Speaker 1: We have so many great people out there doing things,
- 43:43Speaker 1: and I always take the opportunity to try to see
- 43:47Speaker 1: what it is that they can tell the younger generation
- 43:49Speaker 1: as far as the accomplishments that they've had and you know,
- 43:51Speaker 1: the good and the bad. It's not always easy in
- 43:53Speaker 1: our business. But what advice would you give somebody that's
- 43:57Speaker 1: looking at beneath and saying I want to be like her.
- 44:02Speaker 4: Well, I think it's really really important to know who
- 44:04Speaker 4: you are and what you want to do in this
- 44:06Speaker 4: on this planet Earth, Like how do you want to
- 44:08Speaker 4: make a difference, how do you want to leave this earth?
- 44:10Speaker 28: Like what is it that you're passionate about?
- 44:13Speaker 4: And just kind of sticking to that because a lot
- 44:16Speaker 4: of people are told what they have to become, or
- 44:19Speaker 4: you know, they feel pressure, whether it's from parents or
- 44:22Speaker 4: family or friends or just heighty. So I think if
- 44:26Speaker 4: you can separate yourself and really see who you are
- 44:29Speaker 4: and like, you know, I want to help the animals,
- 44:32Speaker 4: I want to help the the other generation.
- 44:35Speaker 28: I want to.
- 44:35Speaker 4: Whoever it might be, like, just kind of stick with
- 44:38Speaker 4: it and don't give up.
- 44:40Speaker 28: Yeah, you really, you gotta.
- 44:41Speaker 4: You gotta wait in line because people will drop out
- 44:43Speaker 4: of line, and so you have to really just stick
- 44:46Speaker 4: with it and don't don't let anyone, you know, dissuade you,
- 44:50Speaker 4: and make sure you have thick skins.
- 44:53Speaker 28: Yeah, and uh, then you can do anything you want.
- 44:56Speaker 4: That's what I think.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Thank you. So much of our audience is South Asian
- 45:00Speaker 1: in the nature of the show, and obviously your work
- 45:02Speaker 1: is much wider than just the work that you do
- 45:04Speaker 1: in our community. But you know, given as a South Asian, here,
- 45:09Speaker 1: is there an element of our culture or our community
- 45:14Speaker 1: that behind the scenes you're like, Oh my god, I
- 45:17Speaker 1: can't wait to cover this when I get a chance.
- 45:20Speaker 1: There's this element of our culture that I have not
- 45:22Speaker 1: done and I've not.
- 45:23Speaker 17: Got to yet.
- 45:24Speaker 1: Is there such a part of our culture that you
- 45:27Speaker 1: just cannot wait to make fun of?
- 45:32Speaker 4: That's a really good question because I've I don't know.
- 45:36Speaker 28: I tend to kind of focus on the people and
- 45:39Speaker 28: the behaviors. I don't really make fun.
- 45:42Speaker 4: Of like a food or a culture, like you know,
- 45:46Speaker 4: I it's more it's more the people that if I
- 45:50Speaker 4: hang out with a lot of aunties and they do
- 45:51Speaker 4: the most ridiculous things. But I would say it's not
- 45:54Speaker 4: really like it's not really like anything in particularly like
- 45:59Speaker 4: food or or clothes or anything like that.
- 46:02Speaker 28: It's just more of the behavior. Like I'm really fascinated
- 46:05Speaker 28: by people's behavior.
- 46:07Speaker 1: So I think it's more that it's awesome, it's so cool,
- 46:11Speaker 1: so cool, Benita, what's next for you? You're come across
- 46:16Speaker 1: like such a You've been through a lot, You've gone
- 46:20Speaker 1: through so many different things in your culture and your
- 46:22Speaker 1: community and your profession. But I still feel there's something
- 46:27Speaker 1: still coming from you. What is that you do? You
- 46:30Speaker 1: look out there and say, you know what, this is
- 46:32Speaker 1: where I'm going, Zammy. This is what I'd love to
- 46:33Speaker 1: share with your audience.
- 46:36Speaker 4: You know, I am just so grateful every day to
- 46:40Speaker 4: be alive and able to live and see the day.
- 46:45Speaker 28: Like, I don't know, if I can work, if I
- 46:48Speaker 28: can help an animal today, then I'm happy, you know.
- 46:51Speaker 4: Like I spend a lot of my time helping animals,
- 46:54Speaker 4: whether it's volunteering with them or working on a bill
- 46:59Speaker 4: that's in Senate or Assembly. Like I'm very passionate about
- 47:01Speaker 4: animal advocacy, so I'm always doing something political like that.

- 51:23Speaker 31: And ho'sh your purpun job yoyo Honey Singh took the
- 51:26Speaker 31: music world by storm with his electrifying beats and a
- 51:28Speaker 31: forgettable hooks. From studying music at the Trinity School in
- 51:32Speaker 31: the UK to becoming one of Bollywood's highest paid music producers,
- 51:35Speaker 31: Honeysing's journey is nothing short of legendary. Let's talk hits,
- 51:39Speaker 31: because this guy does not miss. Tracks like Disi Klakr,
- 51:42Speaker 31: Blue Eyes and the epic Linky Dance remember that one
- 51:45Speaker 31: from Chen Express have become anthems for millions. And with
- 51:48Speaker 31: recent hits like Sayanji Kantalaga and Designer with Gururandawa that
- 51:52Speaker 31: went straight to trending number one on YouTube's world charts,
- 51:55Speaker 31: this guy knows how to keep us grooving.
- 51:57Speaker 8: Yoyo.
- 51:58Speaker 31: Honey Singh's incredible journey, including the highs, the lows, ANZEPI Comeback,
- 52:02Speaker 31: has been captured in a Netflix documentary called Famous. It's
- 52:05Speaker 31: a raw Internet look at his life, his challenges, and
- 52:08Speaker 31: his resilience and our own Sami Chan is also featured
- 52:11Speaker 31: in the documentary, so make sure to watch it if
- 52:13Speaker 31: you guys haven't yet.
- 52:14Speaker 1: Well, that's off of me, not that Ti, Sami, Thank
- 52:17Speaker 1: you so much, Doita. Of course, it was an honor
- 52:20Speaker 1: and pleasure to be a part of the Yoyo Honey
- 52:22Speaker 1: singh documentary there on Netflix. But particularly for me, I've
- 52:27Speaker 1: been so impressed with how open Yoyo has been about
- 52:30Speaker 1: his life, about how his medication has affected his appearance.
- 52:34Speaker 1: I mean, so much stuff that he's been sharing out there.
- 52:37Speaker 1: This song is his latest. It's called god Style. Yoyo

- 54:30Speaker 1: I want to give a big shout out to Kumar
- 54:34Speaker 1: for stopping by today. I'm a big shout out to
- 54:37Speaker 1: Venita kil Nanni for sharing her story. Great episode and
- 54:44Speaker 1: let me tell you guys what you guys heard today.
- 54:47Speaker 1: What struck me about Venita kil Nanni is that she's
- 54:49Speaker 1: living proof of something most of us are too free
- 54:52Speaker 1: to test. You don't find the path before you start walking,
- 54:56Speaker 1: You find it by diving in. Look at her evolution singer,
- 55:01Speaker 1: pageant winner, and then a social media sketch comedian, and
- 55:06Speaker 1: now she's involved in campaigns for some of the biggest
- 55:09Speaker 1: brands out there. Like we mentioned ESPN, Volkswagen, so many others.
- 55:14Speaker 1: None of that was a straight line. None of it
- 55:17Speaker 1: was obvious from where she was standing at the start.
- 55:20Speaker 1: Each step only revealed the next one, and only after
- 55:24Speaker 1: she was already moving. And here's the part I love.
- 55:28Speaker 1: She took something every one of us has, those hours
- 55:31Speaker 1: sitting with our aunties, and she turned it into a
- 55:33Speaker 1: viral hook. She embodied them down to a tee, the mannerisms,
- 55:38Speaker 1: the timing, all of it. And then she did the
- 55:41Speaker 1: harder thing. She translated that very specific humor for everyone.
- 55:46Speaker 1: She found a moment, and the moment is something you
- 55:49Speaker 1: can only find once you're already in motion. Now, don't
- 55:53Speaker 1: skip past where she began. Beneath the left the stem career,
- 55:58Speaker 1: the safe path, the clear one to wander off into
- 56:01Speaker 1: the lonely and certain world of being an artist. And
- 56:05Speaker 1: that's the leap. So many people think about their whole
- 56:07Speaker 1: lives and never take She took it, and somewhere along
- 56:12Speaker 1: that uncertain path, the path revealed itself. That's what makes
- 56:17Speaker 1: her story matter, not that the way was ever clear,
- 56:22Speaker 1: but that she trusted it would become clear one step
- 56:25Speaker 1: at a time. So if you're standing at the edge
- 56:28Speaker 1: of your own leap, take this with you. You begin
- 56:32Speaker 1: by diving in the moments find you after. That's Vanita
- 56:37Speaker 1: and you heard it here on the bridge. I want
- 56:40Speaker 1: to thank you all for tuning in today. I'll leave
- 56:42Speaker 1: you with this song. It's the latest from RIBEZ. Have
- 56:46Speaker 1: a great day, everybody. I'll see you tomorrow.
- 57:00Speaker 13: At her Because I think it's about it. Go back even.
- 57:15Speaker 8: From the about again, be out made the moment about.
- 57:24Speaker 15: About again?
- 57:26Speaker 1: Be out?
- 57:27Speaker 8: May the moment about again? There beside maybe Eliza, Okay.
- 58:02Speaker 32: Just back, Julie's about the kid the future, I am
- 58:13Speaker 32: the kids, Judd about again, be up a moment about
- 58:23Speaker 32: againnam about again?
- 58:28Speaker 8: That's up the moment about again?
- 58:46Speaker 15: Well, how I how I help? I don't pay, how
- 59:28Speaker 15: I help, I don't know, how I know.
- 59:33Speaker 8: I love
