- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Mile High Huddle Podcast with your football priests, Chad Jensen and Zach Kilmerman.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: Remember, Broncos Country is not a geographic location.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's a state of being.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome in everybody.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_01]: It is the Mile High Huddle Podcast.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: Three days in a row of the Mile High Huddle Podcasts.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_01]: That must mean it's August.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm your host Chad Jensen with me, my fellow football priest.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: You know him.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: You love him.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_01]: Zach Kelverman Zach kind of cool to see former Broncos quarterback.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: Ben Gucci didn't use you land on us feet getting another opportunity.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_01]: He announced today he signed with a new team and you had the story for us.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: So break it down.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, for anyone anyone who remembers the Broncos legend, he turned Adam Shefter newsbreaker today and reported on next that he signed a undisclosed contract with the Atlanta Falcons.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_02]: I would assume Chad that's a one year deal for probably the veteran minimum.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_02]: He'll be a camp armor compete for the third quarterback job.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_02]: I don't cover the Falcons, so I don't know, but he's back in the NFL after a brief stint with the Broncos a few years ago.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_02]: Happy to see it.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_02]: Happy to see it for sure.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: And hey, man, the show goes on for him.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_01]: He gets another opportunity to keep the dream alive, but who knows that guy like him, maybe what the future holds in the best case is, you know, find play as long as you can, but maybe try and follow the Davis web path.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: and instead of being that third quarterback bringing up the rear on the roster and looking over your shoulder each and every year, get into coaching.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you got to think about this, dude, Davis Webb, who it was kind of cool to see that he got to call the plays on Saturday and preseason game two, but it's pretty rare for a coach to get their first job, not just like internship, quality control, like literally, even those jobs, but first NFL job,
- 2:02[SPEAKER_01]: was his first year coaching, right?
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it does, it doesn't happen too often, Zach, but maybe that's something Ben Danucci could, could try and duplicate at some point.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Davis wed the Brock is kind of locked out.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't realize he was so heavy.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't realize he was so like a brick ribbon just born to coach and not necessarily to play.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that Ben Danucci is that heavy, but maybe like you're right, Chad, maybe that's his best path going forward.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: Zach, if you would be so kind as to grab these two super chats from the Papa Baron Shilohish.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm seeing that our main Facebook page doesn't want to connect.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: So I got to do a little posty post while we talk to these awesome super stars.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_02]: We got David, the Papa Bear, five dollar super.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_02]: So good to see you David as always.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_02]: Blessing us with your presence holding it down on this Monday evening.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_02]: Good evening.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_02]: Brock has country hashtag thirteen and four plus plus plus plus plus.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: I love the optimism as always.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_02]: David, thank you so much for tuning in with us tonight.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: I think we got Shiloh too.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, despite no stats, two dollar super from Shiloh.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you so much, Shiloh.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_02]: Despite no fat saving, I look good out there.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_02]: He did.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_02]: And even though they don't need him to be a starter, this season, Chad, right away, you have to have the up and coming guys in the tank, so to speak.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_02]: It's just in case you move on from a John Franklin Myers in twenty twenty six.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_02]: You have Savione Jones ready to go.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: Shilo, pop of bear, appreciate you guys.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Savion has an exactly like popped, but he looks like he belongs.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: He's obviously making the roster.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll see when his number gets called, when the season rolls around exactly, you know, how ready he is, but at least up to this point, Zac, he looks like he belongs.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_02]: He's absolutely, and he's going to get really good coaching and good mentorship from Zach Allen, JFM, everyone on the defensive line chat.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_02]: If I was a young up and coming player, I want to play next to those guys Malcolm Roach, the, you know, the mouthpiece of that elite defense.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: No doubt about it.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: Guys again, thank you so much.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_01]: Tonight, I mean, there's a few other little pieces of news like, for example, former Broncos, third round pick.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: Michael O'Donnell, you guys remember him, the corner back out of Iowa.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: He's got a new opportunity to play some ball signed with the Dallas Cowboys.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_01]: In other news, another former Broncos draft pick.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: This guy, more of a late round guy.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was twenty-nineteen, John Winfield, the wide receiver.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: He's getting another opportunity.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_01]: But now, I'm trying to remember who he signed with off top of my head.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: I just brain-forwarded it.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_02]: So, hey, I'm sorry.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: Hold on.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: Wait.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: Is it the Texans?
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: I just saw the tweet you sent me.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_01]: So I was happy to see that for him.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know, so Joanne went free.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: Michael O. Jemedia.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_01]: Good for you guys.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_02]: Didn't work out in Denver, but at least they're getting their looks around the NFL.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_02]: He played the error.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_02]: He's with the Colts recently.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_02]: He's in a Colts uniform in the picture.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_02]: But he is with Houston now.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: So that's the luck to do on one of our great members.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: String guy in the house saying good evening, Chad Zach and Scott Broncos country.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: with Troy Franklin and Pat Bryant looking so good.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_01]: How do you keep them off the field in favor of Valey?
- 5:10[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe wide receiver to by committee, as well as running back.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_01]: Sean Payton, of course, famous for his running back by committee.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_01]: Much to perhaps the chagrin of guys like John Gruden, Zach, who I saw said, hey, when he was asked, generally speaking, who's your big sleeper for twenty twenty five?
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: And he said, RJ Harvey, Sean Payton's going to give him three hundred carries.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, what are you smoking?
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: Once the last time of Peyton running back up, three hundred.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, one thing you got to keep in mind here, Roger, is that the preseason has been specifically structured and formatted by the coaches to give Franklin and Bryant a lot of long looks.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: Valle hasn't been received near the number of snaps.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_01]: If you'd like, I can add it up for you.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_01]: We can do that.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_01]: I have both the games pulled up, Zach, the box scores, but the point being, just like a Portland son, just like a Marvin Mims, starting unit, aka, he's being limited in his, his preseason exposure, but he does have a point here, those Zach, that with how good both those guys have looked, Broncos are gonna have to find ways to get him on the field.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the simple answer here, Stern guy is you don't keep them off the field in favor of Devon Valey.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's especially in Troy Franklin's case, different type of receiver.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: He's been the star of the summer.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_02]: There is no way you're taking him off the field.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_02]: He has the connection with Bonix.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_02]: He's almost starter level.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_02]: That's how good he's playing right now.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: Pat Bryant, you invested a third round pick in him, not a seventh round pick.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_02]: And I got to be on it so far.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what's preseason training camp, but he's shown me more potential and more ceiling than Valey showed last season.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_02]: If I had a my way, Chad, and this might be a hot take, I'm leaving Vale off to maybe sneak another guy on.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: Ooh, very interesting.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_01]: Very, very hot take.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, Ronnie Perkins, you guys remember him.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: He had a couple coffee with the Broncos, Rush Linebacker.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: He signed with the Falcons as well.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for that, Scott.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_01]: Shouts here to
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: Another member, MBLX, test preps here to party.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_01]: Well, he's saying, I'm here, so the party can officially begin.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: Bigger and on Facebook, great to see you, buddy.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, that beard's looking good.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's looking good, pal.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: Another great member, Mike Thompson.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, hey, hey.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_01]: Sam, bam, in the house, saying evening, guys.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: I know it's preseason, but the Broncos are two and a no.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: The defense is only given up sixteen points.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: Pardon me, I think Jonah Ellis is going to show that he was a steal in the draft from last year.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: Go Broncos.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's looked very good so far.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: Big key for him is going to also be staying healthy as it is for anybody, but with him sufferin that was it a collarbone Zach in the Buffalo game or was it a shoulder shoulder either way.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: He's he looks totally recovered from that Zach, but he's got some momentum for sure.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: Another guy that the Broncos are going to have to
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: have a plan to get him on the field, because it's looking like he's hungry.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely, I agree.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he had a fractured shoulder bone, a scapula, or whatever.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_02]: And they buff a low game.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_02]: Not very easy to deal with, but he's back in full bloom.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_02]: And like I said earlier, I think he was yesterday Sam.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_02]: He is going to be a household name soon enough, Jonah Ellis.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: It's only a matter of time.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_02]: And if they didn't have Jonathan Cooper, Nick Benito, they didn't have to no doubt starters.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_02]: I really feel like Ellis would be a starting player and a good starting player at that.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's looking good in his run defense man.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: He's really stepped that up and it's exciting to see that because it's not exactly a huge strong point for either Nick Bonito or Jonathan Cooper, although Jonathan Cooper is much more reliable.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: The Broncos could use a little depth in that department.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: So or at the very least, when the starters are off,
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: opponents can't just think, okay, let's run it at these edge guys and reap the rewards.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_01]: So a few more halos here before we kind of dive into the crux Roy.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: We haven't talked to Roy for a second.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, dude?
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: Supporting the kids here in Sioux Falls at the Little League World Series undefeated.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, that's awesome.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: Stoke for you.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: Patrick, what's up, brother?
- 9:19[SPEAKER_01]: Aloha, gonna be a fun watch this year.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, it is.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's gonna be a fun season, man.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_01]: Count weight.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: And we're only
- 9:28[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we got one game left and that was kind of the just one preseason game left.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, and that's kind of the gist of tonight's episode is biggest risers and fallers.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: And Zach, I got to ask you a sense, training camp started back in the end of July, which player on any side of the ball has surprised you the most, whether it's in a good way, a bad way, et cetera.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like what's been the biggest eyebrow razor for you?
- 9:54[SPEAKER_02]: The easy answer low hanging fruit here is Courtney Jackson on drafted receiver.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_02]: They were so flush at receiver.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_02]: We gave him no chance wouldn't even talk about him.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_02]: And he's almost pushing for a spot on the fifty three.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_02]: If the Broncos weren't so loaded, I think he would have made it.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_02]: But beyond that, the easy answer chat is Troy Franklin.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_02]: We thought he would rebound, but not maybe to this extent, in my opinion, I thought Pat Bryan would be a little slower out of the gates.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_02]: And he's not.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_02]: He's looked at fantastic so far.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_02]: So the receiving core has been surprising to me.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Franklin three for eighteen in game one did not score and then four for sixty seven.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, in basically, ugly games worth when you measure the full snaps, right?
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's between those two games.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: It really ends up being about a game's worth of snaps for Troy Franklin.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: He's pushing, you know, seven eight receptions, pushing hundred yards receiving in a couple of touchdowns.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: That is definitely positive developments on that front.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and yeah, Pat Bryant.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_01]: He just looks smooth dude.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like he looks like a lot faster than what his forty time was and that was something that if you really pay an attention to the to the draft next that you would learn is that he just plays faster than his straight lines, you know, underwear Olympic speed would have you believe in dude.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: He's uh, he's very interesting.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm now starting to understand why his college coach was like he's just like Portland Sun.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: He's just a hair shorter.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: but they play very similar brand of football.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I took that question in a positive connotation and a negative connotation.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_02]: Estime has been the biggest surprise in a bad way, Chad.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_02]: He's looked worse than Giovanni Williams.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_02]: He's not as good in past pro.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_02]: He offers nothing in the backfield.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_02]: I thought he would show more this season.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a little bit surprised.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: Now this is going way out into the weeds.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so keep that in mind.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm a little bit surprised that Clayweb
- 11:51[SPEAKER_01]: the undrafted rookie interior offensive lineman guy who went undrafted because of some kind of outstanding legal issues let's say that have since been resolved yuck but either way had a draughtable grade according to a majority of draft guys he has not looked like he's
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: was worthy of a drapic.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he wasn't a drapic, but he is not look good so far.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_01]: Zach, and the initial silver lining was, well, that's okay, because Nick Garjoo, he's looking good.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: But now he's headed to IR, so it really comes down to Clayweb, Xavier Trust, who's been well Sherman, Calvin Throck Morton, not a super encouraging interior backup depth crew there.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_02]: No, and I was going to say, in Gargulo, Gargulo, whatever, he was also impressive in the first preseason game.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_02]: And Kate and Prescore, can we shout him out real quick?
- 12:47[SPEAKER_02]: Another guy, I never even heard of when the Broncos signed him.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_02]: And like you said the other day, he's looking like more of a legit Sean Peyton tight end, a complete tight end than the likes of Lucas Crow, who has some sort of bandwagon still in Broncos country.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think Lucas Crowle unless he has like a huge game three.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he makes it this year.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think the Broncos air on the side of some youth this time around because they have kind of a steadying veteran presence of Evan Ingraham.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you could argue against that and say, well, yeah, they do, but it's a guy who's got a little bit of an injury history.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: So that would rebut your argument.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: You'd want to have as many guys as possible, but you're not going to carry five tight ends.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be Evan Ingraham.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: Adam Troutman, do you think they keep Caleb Lonerwood he thinks that from what you've seen so far on the fifty three I'm sitting now no way he hasn't shown enough he's super raw he's a practice squad stash I would be stunned at this stage if they kept him as well so then it's like Nate Adkins he's recovering from an injury and he's your best blocker can also give you a little fullback action if you need to and I think if you're going to carry
- 13:58[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to carry four, priest corn should be that fourth guy, not Chrome.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_02]: This could be a situation we talked about the interior backup offensive line and now backup tight end.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_02]: That could be a situation both where the Brock has explored the veteran market after final cuts.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_01]: Guys, yeah, I don't know what it is.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_01]: Sam, Ben, we did see that that was a super chat.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_01]: So thank you, big dog.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_01]: But for some reason, YouTube's got some weird like the last week or so, they've kind of been must have been doing some updates because the way things are displaying on our end.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_01]: is different.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_01]: And that often comes when they're doing like algorithm updates, different things.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll be keeping a sharp eye out to make sure nobody gets missed tonight.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_01]: Second super chat of the night says, also, do you think Audrick Estimate will be a surprise cut?
- 14:48[SPEAKER_01]: No, he'll be a cut, but I don't think anyone will be that surprised at this stage.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: Doesn't seem like he's done all that well in the preseason.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_01]: No, you're right, bro.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_01]: And it seems like teams usually keep no more than three running backs.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_01]: Well, they usually keep four.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_01]: usually.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_01]: And some of that math depends on, are you a full back team?
- 15:08[SPEAKER_01]: And if so, how involved is your full back?
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: And not only that, but is the quality and value of your full back work more to you than the fourth running back on the depth chart.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_01]: In this case, I think because they had success last year's act, waving Michael Burton to start the season and then stash him on the practice squad, elevating him a few times, buying some time before ultimately later in the season.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_01]: promoting him to the fifty-three.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: I expect them to do the same this year where they'll carry four out of camp.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_01]: They'll put another one on the practice squad, probably Blake Watson, the way it's looking, and of course Burton, but Audrick Estime, I think he's the writings on the wall for him.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, love you, Sam, but I think you answered your own question here in the same sentence.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_02]: He's not and Chad said it perfectly.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to be cut, but it's not going to be a surprise.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_02]: Every other running back at some point this preseason, at some point this training camp has stood out at no point through my eyes and the preseason games anyway has estimated.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he's averaging under three yards of carrying in both games.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_02]: There's no burst.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_02]: There's no choose.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_02]: There's nothing that they need on the fifty three.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm moving on.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_01]: No doubt about it.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_01]: Now, who knows, maybe he pulls his head out so to speak and has just a dominant game three, but I'm not expecting it.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_01]: And the deadline this year to have rosters cut down to fifty three is Tuesday, August, twenty six at two p.m.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: Mountain time.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_01]: So that's, you know, where we are, we're about
- 16:43[SPEAKER_01]: eight days, a little more than a week from that.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll have the final game this weekend.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_01]: And then on the heels of that, usually since this new format started by that, I mean, preseason format post pandemic, the last game Zach gets played on Saturday.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: Sunday, you start getting a little trickles out of guys who've been waived.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: Monday, sometimes even by Sunday night, it's like a floodgates, but usually the floodgate has been Monday.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_01]: And then by Tuesday, you basically know what the roster is.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: And there is a question from, we find it here from, I'm going to grab a sweaty eye, but from.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_01]: Jeff Cox want to know, do you see any acquisitions happen in the next week or so?
- 17:24[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah, once once the teams do all their cuts, you'll see the Broncos shuffle them perhaps one or two spots.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: They'll claim a guy.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: So that last two or three dudes Zach that make their roster, it's always in an uneasy kind of standing.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: But the one piece of mind that they have is in most cases, hey, if I do get waved, I'm probably the first guy signed to the practice squad.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: So sweaty, sweaty one out of game.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_01]: This is our dog Cody Dubb.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: The soon to be dad.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: Great to see you.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for the super chat.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: Two thousand yard receivers this year.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_01]: He says that I'm calling it.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: Who's that second which thousand yard receiver?
- 18:02[SPEAKER_01]: Because I think you're probably right on.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_01]: Coral and sudden, but who's the second guy's that?
- 18:06[SPEAKER_02]: It would have to be Troy Franco and just because of his game breaking ability.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_02]: Well, he saw what he displayed in the Buffalo game chat.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_02]: What we saw for him then.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_02]: I think two thousand yard rushers as improbable as that is.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's more likely than two thousand yard receivers this year.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_02]: But from your keyboard, a God's ear is Cody.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you so much.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm still maybe a little bit more
- 18:30[SPEAKER_01]: high on Marvin Mims having himself a breakout this year, just because if you look what's up Ron, good and grab you shortly, brother.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_01]: If you look at how he performed, we'll just call it, you know, the second.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_01]: Man, I did the I did the right up on this.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_01]: I think in July, but I can't remember the exact same.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: Something like the final six games of the season.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_01]: You extrapolate that over the course of a full season.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_01]: And he's a thousand plus yard guy and he's big time.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: And so the question there is can he translate that end of season momentum into a new year or third his third year.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_01]: Time will tell, but I'm optimistic he could be that guy because that
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: You talk about game breaking speed.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's not just as we saw in that Cleveland game last year on Monday night football.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's not just the dump boss and little gadget stuff and the sneaky whatever.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, he can turn on the jets if he and as long as that ball is thrown right dude, he can take it to the house.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_01]: So wrong brother five bucks super chat jumping in to say.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: Good evening, Chad and Zach on the mile high hotel podcast, Go Bo Broncos.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, see, this is weird.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's never looked like this ever in the history of us using stream yard a super chat.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: So it's really bizarre, but wrong dude.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_01]: Love you.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, thank you so much, Ron.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_02]: Good to see you as always my brother.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_01]: But we won't miss anything.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: Don't worry, guys.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this was a Bomber Shile.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about this last night.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_01]: It was kind of a little bit sad seeing his reaction when he fumbled on the goal line.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_01]: fighting, by the way, to score.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_01]: But, uh, priest corn still a good game.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, if you look at his numbers, Zach in that game.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_01]: Caden priest corn was targeted three times.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: He caught all three for fifty two yards with a long of twenty one.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_01]: But then, of course, he had the fumble.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_01]: You go back to the first game.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_01]: priest corn found the end zone on his one target.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's a seven yard touchdown.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: So for a guy trying to break into the league's act as an undrafted rookie, I think he's had a pretty solid summer.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_01]: He I like his energy.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_01]: I like what he's done so far.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_01]: Better blocker and that's not saying much that but a better blocker than Lucas Crow.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: I think right now in the pecking order like if if the chips are down, you got to make a decision.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_01]: I'm betting you now that it's priest corn over a curl.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, for me, it's like you said, just vibes right now.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_02]: I get a good feeling with preschool.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_02]: And more so than I had with curl, I just think he's more of a Sean Peyton tight end.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_02]: And he could blast him into that tight end three tight end force spot.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_02]: And let's not forget, Chad, the broth goes should be looking for their future tight end one.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_02]: Evan Ingram's not exactly twenty years old.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_02]: And they also need a tight end, too, because Adam Troutman won't continue to cut it.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_02]: If he wasn't a Sean Peyton guy, they would have replaced him already.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: I think you're right there, as far as some other risers, let's talk about the running backs because I think RJ Harvey for the most part has looked about as advertised, like can't wait to see him in like fully skimmed up offense and it's gonna be really fun.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_01]: We can wait to, I mean, who knows?
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe like you said, if Sean Peyton said he's planning on letting the starters get a few snaps in the third game, I'll still be surprised if that happens, but if that is how it shakes out,
- 21:43[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe he'll get a carrier to Dobbins, but I'm okay if he doesn't what let him chill let even Harvey like I think we've seen enough to say okay those that's basically you're starting duo that rotates the one to punch they're good to go but.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: been really impressed by Jalil McLaughlin.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_01]: He's had some of his stats this summer in the preseason, um, foiled by penalties, but not on his part, but, you know, holding penalties, whatever, but he's looking twitchy.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: He's looking good and Tyler, but they like Watson.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_01]: They've looked good, but it seems to me, Zach, just reading
- 22:20[SPEAKER_01]: the tea leaves and not only what Sean Peyton has said, but kind of the tonality.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_01]: But day seems to be that last guy with a seat at the table as far as the roster.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_02]: And remember the wrap on McLaughlin last year, maybe wraps the wrong word, but he was the first guy in last one out of the building chat.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_02]: He impressed the coaching staff with that.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_02]: It seemed like throughout the season, Sean Peyton can only trust McLaughlin in the back field.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_02]: So I think you're right here, Sam.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_02]: This is the easy three, but if they do keep four, that's where the debate starts.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_02]: Will it be, but day, will it be Watson?
- 22:50[SPEAKER_02]: I think we can agree though.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_02]: It won't be odd to me.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't think so, guys, and that's kind of crazy considering how
- 22:59[SPEAKER_01]: Sean Peyton was talking about him literally like hours before news broke that JK Dobbins was gonna come on a visit.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_01]: Mike says, Evan Ingraham has a better chance at a thousand yard season than Franklin and Brian combined.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think is what he's saying.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_01]: Ingraham's had some prolific seasons, but if memory serves, he's never quite gotten over.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_01]: His big, twenty, twenty, three season.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_01]: He had nine hundred and change.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_01]: Let me make sure I'm not lying to you guys.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, his career high in the art age was twenty twenty three he appeared in fifteen or seventeen games.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_01]: Um, nine hundred sixty three yards preceding that his other proble year was twenty twenty.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_01]: He had a hundred and nine targets, sixty three receptions, six hundred and fifty four.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_01]: That was his proble.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_01]: So it's actual two career highs were back to back.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: And that was his first two years.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: Zach and Jacksonville, seven hundred sixty six yards and nine hundred sixty three.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_01]: So in a patent offense, you know, Boneyx really takes those steps in year two that we kind of expect him to even if they're modest steps.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: There's going to be a lot of yardage to go around for guys.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: Gene, what's up, dude?
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yo, boys.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: How are you?
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: Really good.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: been a few days, but I got to watch the replay of the game.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: Cut, estimate.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Zach.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, appreciate you hopping in, Gene, and it's true.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_02]: If there's a glaring takeaway, I don't know how your eyes could ignore how bad estimate is.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_02]: We all suffer through Javante.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_02]: It just running into his blockers, no vision, no wiggle, nothing to offer, and not a confidence booster at all in the backfield.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_02]: Seems like everyone else can do something with the ball except for Audrick.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_02]: Hopefully he's better in his next NFL Stint.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_01]: Jean, dude, I still, I'm loving that profile pic.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_01]: It makes me smile.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_01]: Can't wait to see you in a couple months, dude.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_01]: At the meet and greet, it's going to be a gas.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_01]: Roger says I'm tripping on memes.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_01]: But let's remember this because as you guys know, when I'm wrong, I'm happy to stand at the mic and say, hey, guys, I was wrong on this one who looks.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_01]: So catalog this, try and remember.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_01]: We'll, we'll revisit Roger.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_01]: Let's say,
- 25:03[SPEAKER_01]: at the trade deadline if I was wrong about Marvin Minnes.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so, but we shall see Keith.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, buddy.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: One name, Troy Frick and Franklin.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's looking the part dude and you could see Sean Peyton like when he's gotten asked about him lately before it was almost like whoa hey guys remember some of those comments that early in training camp like let's not go right in the headlines on Troy Franklin quite yet but the last couple times he's been asked about Troy which are of course after the two games post game you can see that excitement man like he's kind of like yeah, we got some on our hands here
- 25:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I was reading the postgame transcripts.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_02]: I thought I was watching almost famous.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_02]: He goes, it's actually happening.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's actually happening, which were Franklin.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_02]: And it's true.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_02]: He predicted an ascension months ago.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_02]: He did kind of tamped down the expectations.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that was his grand plan all along, Chad.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think he knew Franklin was about to break out in year two.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_01]: David, David buddy.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry to hear that you have had not so good day.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_01]: Our friend David here says, can't stay long, had a rough day.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry to hear about that, but he thinks they keep five running backs, Watson to the practice squad.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_01]: So who's the fifth running back estimate, or are you saying burdens the fifth?
- 26:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm curious on that, buddy.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about defense, Zach, in terms of risers.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: The one guy that I think is impressed me the most has been, and you know, he's a little bit quieter in game two.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: but Chris Abram's dream as far as a part of me as far as followers, DeMarie Mathis, man, he needed a miracle to be able to stay off getting cut because of his contract.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you don't pay number six cornerbacks, three and a half million dollars, three and a half million dollars for the season.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_01]: So he needed to be like star the show, caliber guy this summer.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_01]: And not only has that not happened, but the one touchdown that
- 27:00[SPEAKER_01]: the Broncos relinquished to the Cardinals, was that his expense.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_01]: So I would say those on defense for me right now, Zach, are the two biggest writers and followers.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's what are we classified jayquang though?
- 27:11[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, he's been so up and down.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_02]: He's like a riser and a follower.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_02]: You're right about cad, though, Chris Avelm's drain in the first the pass break up he had in the first preseason game.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_02]: He has such long arms and he's so quick to close on the ball.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_02]: It's effortless.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_02]: Again, another player where if the Broncos weren't so flush with Baron and Rally Moss and of course, PS two, maybe Avelm's drain would be starting.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_02]: He is that damn good.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_01]: He really is, man.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_01]: He's kind of sticky, man.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like he reminds me of Tony Carter, minus the pension for the big play.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: Todd just became a member, brother.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for that.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_01]: And it comes as no surprise.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_01]: I don't mean that to sound like we take it for granted, but you've been such a core member of our community for so long, dude, that we appreciate you.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: Becoming a member.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_01]: Cody jumping in again, saying, pre-scorn actually has some fight, crawl,
- 28:04[SPEAKER_01]: When can blow him off his feet, but does priest corn's age hurt him?
- 28:10[SPEAKER_01]: His age, or are you talking about his relative inexperience?
- 28:14[SPEAKER_01]: Let me double check what that is.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_02]: Twenty five.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_02]: Well, he's twenty six in September, but he's still a young player.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_01]: We're talking exactly.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they drafted.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_01]: They used a draft pick on a nearly twenty-seven year old Devon Valey last year.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_01]: So if it was a situation where the Broncos had a lot more, if the depth was better, then the smaller things like that, I think, is that coming to play when you're looking at who's going to be our fourth tight end?
- 28:43[SPEAKER_01]: In this case, I don't think it hurts him.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, a twenty six year old has the tight end three or tight end four.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_02]: He has a lot of years left and there's a lot of tread on the tires too, Chad, obviously.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm not concerned about that at all.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_02]: If he can play, he can play.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, cruel.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know though, dude.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_01]: He just.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't do enough as a receiver.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's supposed to be a receiving tight end, but he doesn't do enough as a receiver to offset just how bad he really is as a blocker.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_01]: So when he's on the field, the run game is dead, dude.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_01]: Ralph, what is up, brother?
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: Great to see you.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_01]: My priests, I love the fact that we can argue about who our force is running back will be.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, dude, well, it goes.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_01]: So that's also, I think, too, Ralph, part of like them, the mania of Broncos country, like that's part of what makes us as sick and in just
- 29:37[SPEAKER_01]: passionate maniacal about the team is we're happy to sit and talk about who that fourth guy is whether it's this year I get your point you're talking about hey we're deep enough that this this kind of thing matters, but you know that's kind of been I think is that one of the hallmarks of Broncos country since I really got into talking about this stuff and doing it on the internet you know almost twenty years ago so
- 30:00[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, who you like, who do you like for that number four spot, Ralph?
- 30:03[SPEAKER_01]: You'll have to let us know, buddy.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_02]: You know who we're not arguing about, though, is who should start a quarterback for the Denver Broncos.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_02]: And after a decade of that chat, it feels so freaking good.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_01]: Are there?
- 30:15[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I know this is not what you meant at all.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_01]: But are there people?
- 30:20[SPEAKER_01]: I saw, I can't remember which one it was that tweeted it today.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_01]: Someone in the meet, someone in the local press here with us posted that there are people advocating for Jared Stidham to be the starter now over Bonix.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_01]: I have not seen that anywhere.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_01]: I've seen some people be a little anxious coming out of that first game that
- 30:40[SPEAKER_01]: You know, didn't set the world on fire, but I haven't seen Zach anybody like straight up pound in the table advocating.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: We got to sit down our first round pick because of three preseason staffs.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: We got to go with this didem guy.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he's undefeated in the preseason.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_02]: He's been in the league also.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_02]: How long now six years?
- 30:58[SPEAKER_02]: He should be carving up third and fourth string players in preseason.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_02]: Anyone who says that serious or not serious, just discard the opinion entirely.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_01]: As Scott says, if there are people advocating that, it's just begging for attention because it's intellectual dishonesty.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_01]: Well said, Mr. Producer.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_01]: Doc, oh, that's what I wanted to grab up here.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_01]: Doc, let me find this real quick.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: So, oh, maybe it's a lot farther back this.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_01]: Doc says book club the drive was awesome.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_01]: So that's the chapter we just did in Broncos book club of the L way years by Mike Kliss and we're in chapter four and five this week.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about on Saturday for amongst the members if you guys want to
- 31:45[SPEAKER_01]: be a part of that, get the book, become a member on YouTube, and it'll be fun.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_01]: But he says, we have incredible talent.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't believe it's a bad thing.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_01]: Someone said we have too much talent.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_01]: Is that really a problem?
- 31:57[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's like what you would call like a first world problem.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_01]: You know, or another way of saying it's that it's a good problem to have.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's exactly what I wrote in my story today about Sean Peyton talking about roster cuts.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_02]: And I said the Broncos have an embarrassment of riches at certain positions, but it beats the alternative of having nothing being poor at those positions.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know who's saying the Broncos are too much talent, but that's kind of crazy.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_01]: On the same note here from Doc James, we have some huge cuts coming.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_01]: I really love our depth.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_01]: Do you see any big surprise cuts coming?
- 32:29[SPEAKER_01]: Estimate no surprise.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's not worthy.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm surprised.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: No, but like noteworthy that there are probably two recent draft picks that are going to be cut in Estimation and Mathis.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: Who do you think, exactly?
- 32:47[SPEAKER_01]: You got any like bold surprises, not per se a prediction, but even maybe a guy to keep an eye out for for for dot.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_02]: I gave one few minutes ago, Devon Valey.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_02]: I, I don't know, maybe I'm wrong.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe Sean Peyton loves it.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe Devon Valey has a huge role this season in the Broncos offense.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't seen much of them.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_02]: I've seen Troy Franklin as send.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_02]: I've seen Pat Bryan as send.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_02]: You mentioned Marvin Nims, obviously, Portland, Sudden.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_02]: They have Trent Scherfield showing out, Courtney Jackson showing out.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_02]: So, Devon Bailey reminds me of Autocastime in the sense that everyone else around him competing for a spot has looked good, really except for him.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_01]: So, game one, game one, Velae.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: Let me double check this.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_01]: Game one, Vailade had one catch for six yards on one target.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_01]: And the number of snaps, we find him here, that he played, okay, there he is, played twenty snaps.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_01]: So he played basically Zack, the exact same number of snaps at the first team played.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_01]: So, and then of course, the whole first team didn't play game two.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_01]: So he didn't play.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_01]: So the question is, you really think, Sean Peyton is in a headspace where he's
- 33:58[SPEAKER_01]: There's something that either Vela has done or hasn't done that will put a starter in jeopardy being cut and you're filling that way.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_02]: And again, maybe I'm wrong.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_02]: Cause they did seem like a person that Sean Peyton won the lean on, but they have other options now.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_02]: And I didn't foresee Troy Franklin breaking out to this extent.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't see Pat Bryan being ahead of the curve for being a third round rookie.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_02]: But the fact that they are at their stepping out, I could leave to Bailey on the outside looking in.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the question was surprise cuts.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_01]: And that Zach would definitely qualify as a surprise cut.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_01]: But honestly, beyond him, you know, as I'm thinking about it, I'm looking at the roster here, I'm like, hmm, who could be a surprise?
- 34:48[SPEAKER_01]: I don't really see anybody else, dude, because the defensive line guys that they have, I mean, I guess possibly I'll throw this out, but it would be like a modest surprise would be, Eomail was a who was a Rica who of course was a fourth round pick few years back had this suspension kind of got back on his feet last year.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_01]: They kept him on the roster.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_01]: Sean Peyton said some really good things about him during training camp, but he has not only zacked been unable to translate it to the preseason games, but he's been
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: He just hasn't looked good in the preseason.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_01]: So he would qualify to as another recent draft pick that could find himself on the cutting room floor.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_02]: Another one, again, this is a bold prediction.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe Alex Singleton, you know, coming back from injury, they have Level Bailey Chad.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_02]: They have a curing read.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_02]: He's looking pretty good.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_02]: You brought back storn on.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_02]: That's bold.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_02]: I still think Singleton makes it, but that's just putting it out there.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just a surprise is what could possibly be in the cards and it wouldn't completely be a shock to me.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_01]: And we talked about him as potentially being a cut guy way before the cleats even hit the grass.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: One of the because of his contract and his relative recent injury history, but one of the caveats to that was a younger inside lineback or rising or the inside lineback or depth given the Broncos enough confidence to feel like they could move off from him in a contract year.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_01]: Mike says, if Bailey gets cut, I'll give a maximum super chat.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you don't have to do that, Mike, but, you know, we'll see, I agree with you, Mike, that it would be, it would definitely come as a surprise, but it was kind of like that Zach when Tim Patrick got cut, you know, like running with the ones, tenured veteran, got that second contract, yeah, had a couple years of bad injury luck, but it was kind of that out of the blue when they cut and were like, really?
- 36:43[SPEAKER_01]: And why did they cut him?
- 36:45[SPEAKER_01]: Because the guy rose up beneath him.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_01]: rendering him basically expendable.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_01]: Now, one big difference is that between those two situations, Tim Patrick had the contract.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_01]: He had restructured if memory serves because he had had those two lost years to injury.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_01]: So he had cut the Broncos a little bit of a break, but he was still making significantly more than what Baylay, a seventh round pick in the second year is making.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_01]: So we can't ignore or forget also Zack when we're drawing those parallels, the financial incentive relative to Timmy P.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_02]: That's ironically, too, the broadcast moved on from Timmy because they wanted to give a lay more of a chance and move on with the younger receiver.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_02]: So it could be a butterfly effect happening again.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_02]: And I just think it's not a contractual thing, a financial thing.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_02]: You just can't keep right now.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_02]: You cannot keep hat, Brian, and Troy Franklin off the field.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_02]: Considering what they're doing and the chemistry they're building, you just can't do it, Chip.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_01]: Todd says, why keep fullback, Michael Burton.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: Just use a tight end there.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm to be honest with you, dude, I in the wrong person to ask, not because I'm like some ignorant numbness, but because I genuinely agree with you, like I don't understand what the allure is.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_01]: He is a big, um, Peyton guy though, like he goes away back with Peyton.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_01]: And when you have a guy like Nate Adkins, Zach, that can
- 38:08[SPEAKER_01]: check literally every box that Burton does with maybe the exception of special teams.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's the one thing also you got to keep in mind Todd that kind of insulates Burton is not only his willingness to play special teams, but he does a damn good job.
- 38:24[SPEAKER_01]: The Broncos rely on him for that when he's on the roster.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_02]: same reason that they liked little Jordan Humphrey so much and Marquez Calaway and some of these other Saints players former Saints player Sean Peyton has his guys.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_02]: He's very old school and he trust his guys.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_02]: I would hope that they could double dip there with a tight end like you're saying there Todd, but they'd add kids is going to miss regular season time with that injury.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_02]: So it might be where Burton resigns after week one where I believe Chad his salary wouldn't be guaranteed for the season if it's after week one.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: Um, AT Perry Zach.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_01]: Too little too late.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_01]: We have a few people asking about or talking about AT Perry in the chat.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even think he's a guy with how much depth has shown out wide receiver this year.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even think he's a guy.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_01]: They try and keep it around on the practice squad on less.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_01]: And here's that big caveat and part of why we titled tonight's episode the way we did.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: Chips are down, baby.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's the third game.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's now or never.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_01]: So unless he just goes off and has like a Troy Franklin-esque third game.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_01]: But even that, Zach, doesn't always save guys.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_01]: Remember Albert Oak away when I'm had a big last game.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, even Lucas Crow, his last game is the same.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's insanely good.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes by the time you get to that last game, Zach.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, in many cases, the coaches, the rostromats, are even done, like they've already kind of made their decisions on who they're keeping.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about you on win for earlier, and that's what AT Perry is starting to remind me of, it's all hypothetical, all theoretical upside, nothing tangible, nothing in actuality.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_02]: Like you said, if he breaks out in preseason game three, maybe he makes a push for the practice squad, but with Courtney Jackson, Joaquin Davis, even Michael Bandy playing well and practicing well, how do you justify keeping AT Perry just because of what he's tall and he was a former St.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_02]: doesn't cut it.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, Ron,
- 40:15[SPEAKER_01]: You're one of the great exemplary guys that proves Broncos country is not a geographic location.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's a state of being.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_01]: And it was really cool when I was in the Phoenix area over the weekend and proud zeniel.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_01]: His name's Ian came out and I got to meet him and hang out and he had the sticker that said Arizona is Broncos country.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_01]: And you know what?
- 40:43[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Zach, every look, they sell tickets, but they don't sell out the cardinals unless they're like Kurt Warner competing for a Super Bowl, but I'm Larry Fitzgerald and like those great teams that we're going way back now over a decade, but.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_01]: Every network also that our website, my whole hotel has ever been on.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_01]: The Cardinals are always one of the worst performing websites because the fans, I guess, just don't really care about them.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_01]: But they've been there Zack for a long time.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of a surprise that there aren't more like passionate Cardinals fans, but maybe it's true what Ian Sticker said that like rock, Tucson Phil, many more that Arizona is Broncos Country.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely, I've said it once I'll say it again.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_02]: I'll say it for the rest of my life.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_02]: This is the best fan base in all sports and I'm so blessed to be interacting with all of you.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_01]: No doubt.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_01]: Where are we at?
- 41:40[SPEAKER_01]: We're at forty one minutes.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, guys.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_01]: We'll call this the two minute warning.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_01]: Any burning questions, topics, super, get them in the chat and we will be sure to grab me before we dip on out here.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_01]: And like, well, here's another example.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_01]: What's good fellas, AZ in the building, see?
- 41:55[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, great to have you.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, bud.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just doing a little perusal here, a little bit higher up the chat, to see if we missed anything.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_01]: From William Harvey inside, and O'Line was just insane on that touchdown run.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_01]: If that was Pookey, he would run into the Garder Center.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was the frustrating thing right about him post injury was that pension for running into the blockers.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_01]: I don't recall seeing that nearly Zack as often.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_01]: his rookie year when he almost rushed for a thousand yards as the number two guy.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_01]: But that's neither here nor there.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_01]: We're talking about RJ Harvey who I loved seeing that because there was all that criticism and questions about all game one Harvey's bouncing everything outside Zach, which he literally did.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_01]: Every run he carried bounced it outside and that can he run between the tackles.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_01]: He showed you on that touchdown plunge when he popped his NFL cherry that yeah, I can run between the tackles.
- 42:57[SPEAKER_02]: I dropped a tweet in the private chat.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if we can pull it up or not, but a screenshot of the little tiny hole that RJ Harvey slithered through on his touchdown run.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_02]: And like you said, Chad, that's when I tweeted earlier.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_02]: I said, quote, RJ Harvey can't run outside of the tackles or between the tackles and here's RJ Harvey running between the tackles and a very small window.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_02]: So you're right here.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_02]: If this was any other running back from last season, it would have not have reached pader.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_01]: Look at that.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_01]: Mr. Clerk, I'm not playing.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_01]: Taking care of us here.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_01]: Look at that.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_01]: Whoops.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_01]: See, you can see the goal line, the big white line, solid line.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_02]: But I thought you couldn't play in the NFL.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_02]: Chad, I thought he was too small.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Sean Payton says he's not small.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_01]: He's short.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_01]: There's a difference, right?
- 43:48[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, it was very encouraging to see.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, again, I saw this today.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_01]: I was actually, I saw it because I was uploading a short to MHH YouTube.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_01]: And while I was waiting for it to upload, I saw this other short that it was it was John Gruden.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_01]: on a podcast appearance somewhere, probably bar stool.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_01]: I can't recall exactly where it was, but saying that his big sleeper in the NFL this year is RJ Harvey and that Sean Payton's gonna get him three hundred carries.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_01]: Ralph, my brother has cardinal season tickets and it's always a Broncos home game there.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_01]: Very interesting, very interesting indeed, Ralph.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_01]: But there are also for what it's worth.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of transplants live in the desert.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_01]: So that doesn't explain it all, but that is part of it.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_02]: Core memory on locked wasn't it a few years ago, Von Miller said we're going to kick the rest about the carnals on that Thursday night game and they went out and they did just that they utterly brutalize them.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's for sure.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_01]: All right, guys, we got a few.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_01]: We got a few messages here before we dip out.

- 46:05[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just taking a quick look to see anything pearl.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_01]: I want to watch who they play in the game three who they cut.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, like I said, a lot of those decisions seemingly have already been made just based on the way it's always shaken out in the past, but
- 46:25[SPEAKER_01]: If you're a player on this roster fight and you can't think that way, you've got to go out and play.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_01]: Because even if you don't make this roster, you might shine that tape goes out to all the teams.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_01]: All right, guys.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_01]: I think we covered it.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think we covered it.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_01]: What a fellows.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_01]: I know it's only preceding Broncos play the Saints on my birthday.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm also having a party I need that one just a trash talk my family.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you'll get it dude.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'd be shocked if that's the one preseason game they don't win.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_01]: You know, this the depth of this roster plus if what Peyton said is true.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_01]: comes out in the wash and the starters play you get a little boost there from bow and Sutton and Harvey and et cetera plus the defense.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see, but hopefully you get those bragging rights big duck.
