Let's start in verse one. And I, brothers, when I came to

you, came not with Excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring

unto you the testimony of God. So you can see here that Paul

made a conscience decision before he even arrived in
5:18
Corinth, that he was not going to try to use all of his
5:24
education and all of his pharisaical background and
5:28
knowledge to try to usurp over them any amount of charisma, any
5:37
amount of cleverness, any amount of a wordsmith, someone who
5:44
could bend their emotions. He went with the simplicity of
5:49
the gospel, and that is what we need to do.

Friends, the gospel is simple, but we complicate it because we
5:56
do not accept how simple it is. And he's going to tell us that

he only wanted to preach Christ and Christ crucified.

Not all of the little nuances along the way, but those two
6:10
facts of the matter. And if we would desire
6:13
salvation, friends, we must place our faith in the Lord
6:18
Jesus Christ, and we must realize that God raised him from
6:22
the dead. We confess with our mouth.

We believe in our heart, friends, and that is the
6:27
simplicity of the gospel. And that is what saves us.

That is the salvation. It is the name that is above all
6:35
names, the name of Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

And here Paul comes in to Corinth and he did not even try
6:46
to win them over as a salesman. He did not try to win them over
6:50
with any kind of charisma. It was just the simplicity of
6:54
the gospel, so much so that it was leading him to this fear and
6:59
trembling that God tells us to work our salvation out of.

Friends, if we will fear God, everything else bows.

We need not fear the one that can kill the body to.

For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus
7:20
Christ and Him crucified. You have to understand that he
7:23
was entering into a place that was a playground for all kinds
7:30
of spiritual matters. This was a place where they were
7:35
loose in their morals. This was a place where they just
7:38
wanted to be entertained and amused.
7:40
And it's no different in our day and our hour.

There are many seeker friendly churches who only want to give
7:49
the flash in the show. They entertain people and there
7:53
is coming a time in a day where people will not put up with
7:56
sound doctrine, but they only want that that will tickle their

ears. Friends, we have entered into
8:02
this apostasy that you're going to find out that those churches
8:08
are only able to bring people in, but they are not able to
8:14
keep them there. There is no salvation in the
8:18
worldly systems that we try to implement.

Friends, it is the simple gospel that saves men and women and you
8:27
need to understand that the Word of God is all that we need for
8:33
people to be saved. Nothing added and nothing
8:37
subtracted. We do not need to try to make an
8:40
apology for the things that God said in His Word.

We just stand on the Word of God and people who are called will
8:50
respond. And it's not because of our
8:54
human efforts, it's not because of our cleverness, and it's not
8:58
because we have saturated the church with worldliness,

Friends. It is the Word of God that is
9:07
alive and active. It is the Word of God that goes
9:10
out friends, and it falls on fertile soil and men and women
9:15
will give their life to the Lord Jesus Christ by the simplicity
9:19
of preaching the Word of God, not watered down, but the
9:23
complete Word of God. Even all the topics that this
9:27
world tells us that we don't need to talk about, all the
9:32
topics in this culture that are not popular, we preach the
9:36
entirety of God's Word and it falls on fertile soil and most
9:41
of what gets scattered, most of the seed falls on shallow soil.

There is no substance to it. There's no root taken.
9:54
There is no deepness to the soil, and as soon as persecution

comes, it falls away. Soon as ridicule comes, it falls
10:04
away. You can talk somebody into
10:06
something, somebody else can talk them out of it.

And that is the shallow soil. And then there's some soil that
10:12
you scatter the seed on in the moment that it tries to take
10:17
root. Satan comes and whispers lies to
10:21
that person and tells them even while you were saying the things
10:25
that you're saying, tells them not to listen, gets them
10:28
distracted onto worldly, carnal, fleshly things.

And then there are some who tried to take root, but the
10:38
fruit of God's Word was growing up amongst the same time as the
10:43
cares of this world. You've got bills to pay.

You've got your retirement to think about.
10:50
You've got education you have to send your kids to.
10:53
You got all these cars and houses and all the cares of this
10:58
world, and your body's breaking down and you need to fix it.

And all the things that plague us, friends.
11:05
And we lose the entire point of the whole matter, friends.

And there is the tears that grow up and choke out any of the
11:13
fruit. But sometimes you will preach
11:17
the word and will fall on fertile soil, and you're going
11:20
to see much fruit, friends, from those people.
11:23
And it is only a percentage of the seed that gets sown that
11:28
actually takes root. And that is why it's a narrow
11:31
path and only a few find it. Most choose the highway to
11:36
destruction. Friends, we only need to preach
11:42
the simple gospel of Christ and Christ crucified. 3 And I was
11:49
with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.

That's what God tells us, to work out our salvation with fear
11:55
and trembling. And I believe that Paul here

understood the gravity of the work that he was involved in,
12:03
friends. And if you have not ever felt
12:05
that, then you need to go back to the drawing board.

You need to understand that this is a battleground.
12:15
This is not a playground, friends.
12:18
You need to understand that heaven and hell weigh in the
12:22
balance for every single person that you're going to meet today.

There are only two destinations for every single person.
12:29
And there are some who think they're on the path to heaven,
12:34
but they won't make it there. And that is a very sobering
12:42
thought when you come to the reality that most people that
12:46
you meet in a crowd are, have to, are going to have to spend
12:50
eternity apart from God Almighty based upon his scriptures that
12:59
only a few find this path. And that is what you have to
13:04
realize. It is not a blanket statement
13:07
across the board that everybody who grew up in a Christian home
13:12
or every single person who was born in a church filled area is
13:18
going to make it there. It does not work that way
13:21
friends. And when you have the reality
13:26
that God and his word will never return void and God will not be
13:33
mocked. What you need to understand,
13:36
friends, is that we don't need to doubt our salvation.

We don't need to doubt the assurance of faith.

We need to have a know so kind of faith.

But by and large, those who think that they are going to
13:52
make it there will not because they have not accurately placed
13:58
their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

They have not come to the saving knowledge.

They are trying to play both sides.

They are just attending church or just trying to make it there
14:11
by works. And they are not covered in the
14:16
blood of Christ. And once we are covered in His
14:21
blood, He will give you a new mind and a new heart.

You won't see the world all around you the way that you used
14:28
to. You will have conviction for the
14:31
sins that you commit. You will not try to explain them
14:35
away. You will develop a hunger for
14:39
His word and His presence. Friends.
14:42
And you can always tell who belongs to Him by the love that
14:46
they have for their brothers and sisters.
14:50
And that is a mark that He has given us so that we can tell who
14:55
belongs to Him and who does not. If you show me somebody who is
15:01
critical about every single person all around them all the
15:05
time, that is a sure sign of a black, of a backslidden
15:09
Christian. If you show me somebody who has
15:12
no conviction for the sins that they are committing is a sure
15:16
sign that the Holy Spirit is not present in that person's life.

And that is what you need to know.

Paul understood this reality and he was working out his salvation
15:30
with fear and trembling. Verse 4.

My speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's
15:37
wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.

So there it is again. He did not try to come with any
15:45
eloquence. He wasn't trying to win them
15:50
over with fair speech. And here in Corinth, all of the
15:56
inhabitants of that city, they were entertained by speeches.

And Paul determined before he ever went that he was not going
16:05
to try to win them over with a well articulated speech.

He was going to give them the raw, real power of God Almighty
16:15
with the simplicity of preaching the gospel, the good news, news
16:20
of the Lord Jesus Christ, and what he did on the cross for
16:24
them, friends. And that is what Paul had
16:26
determined to do before he ever went.

And we can see that they accepted it.

Five, that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but
16:39
in the power of God. That's the whole point of the
16:42
whole matter of the whole thing, friends, as if somebody can talk
16:46
you into following after God, then somebody else can come
16:50
alongside later and talk you out of it.

If you're not rooted and grounded in the Word of God, if
16:56
you're not rooted and grounded in the power of God, you're
17:00
going to fall away. You're going to allow the little
17:03
tickling of the ear to draw you and entice you into carnal,
17:08
fleshly desires, friends. And the world is going to wrap
17:13
the chains around you and drag you off into prison.
17:18
And that is what you need to know.

And there have been many men and women along the way who were not
17:24
rooted and grounded in God's Word.

And as soon as something else better that they liked better
17:32
came along, they went off into despair and discouragement and
17:39
into prison, friends. And if you have breath in your
17:44
lungs today, there's hope for you.

No matter where you find yourself, no matter how many
17:49
chains are around you, no matter how shallow the soil is, no
17:55
matter how many times Satan has snatched the word from you,
17:58
there's hope for you. Friends.

You can have the fertile soil, but you must break up the fallow
18:05
ground. Friends, you must allow the Holy
18:07
Spirit and the power of God in your life to push that seed deep
18:13
down into the soil and let it spring forth in a miraculous way
18:18
that only God gets the credit for it.

No man ever gets the credit for the things of God.

All we are are repeaters of the truth.

Friends, if you've been listening along for any amount

of time, it's the same message 1187 times, Friends, Chapter

after chapter, after chapter, after chapter, after chapter

after chapter after chapter, Friends, it's the same message

of Christ and Christ crucified. And if you come back here

tomorrow, it'll be the exact same message of Christ and
18:55
Christ crucified. And we need to be rooted and
18:58
grounded in that reality, so that when persecution comes,

when the temptation comes, when the enticing comes, we will not
19:08
be LED astray, Friends, we will be rooted and grounded in the
19:12
truth. 6 How be it we speak wisdom among them that are
19:22
perfect, yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the Princess
19:31
of this world that come to nothing?

So he's saying that only the spiritual man can understand the
19:39
spiritual principles and deep calls to deep.

But if we are still operating within the flesh and the carnal
19:49
mind, it is not able to understand the spiritual matters
19:56
that God desires for us to know and some things that the Lord

speaks to us. Whenever that He reveals things
20:08
and quickens things inside of us, don't be surprised when you
20:12
run out to go tell the world and you're not even able to
20:17
articulate those things in human language because they're so deep
20:24
and profound. And when you try to share them,
20:28
words fail, friends, do not be surprised. 7 But we speak the
20:36
wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom which God
20:43
ordained before the world unto our glory.

So we're about to understand how when the Holy Spirit was

speaking the inspired words to the writers of the Bible,

friends, you're going to see the process of how the Holy Spirit

inspired men to be able to pin down the words that God
21:11
breathed. How amazing is that?

Lock in, pay attention, and you're going to find out how you
21:17
can trust the Word of God as God's spoken word that never
21:24
returns void friends. And He's going to give you a
21:28
sneak peek into the process of going from God's mouth unto
21:36
paper for you and I to be able to pick up and to hold and to
21:40
treasure friends, and to love. And the Word became flesh. 8

which none of the Princess of this world knew, for had they
21:52
known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

Think about it, if the rulers of the day from Pilate to Pontius,

from Pontius Pilate all the way to the chief ruler, from all of
22:16
the Jewish chief priests to the Pharisees and the Sanhedrin to
22:24
Caesar and all the above, if anybody would have known what
22:29
was about to happen, they would not have crucified the Lord
22:33
Jesus Christ. But it pleased God to crush him.

And so that is what you need to know, that even the spiritual

wickedness and darkness and principalities and all the
22:46
demonic hosts and Satan himself did not understand how killing
22:54
this man who claimed to be the Son of God was going to disarm
22:59
them and snatch the keys to death and hell.

And we need not fear death any longer.

We do not need to try to figure out where we stand with God any
23:10
longer. We can have the surety of our
23:14
salvation because of the work of the cross.

And if the powers of hell and all the wicked tyrannical powers

on earth understood what was about to happen at Calvary, they
23:28
would not have done it. But it was for your sake and for
23:32
my sake. And Jesus went willingly and
23:36
gave up the ghost, and he knew the plan before the foundation
23:41
of the earth. 9 But as it is written, I has not seen, nor ear
23:49
heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the things
23:53
which God has prepared for them that love him.

This is how Scripture was written.

Friends. As Paul was emptied of himself,

God filled him with the mind of Christ. 10 But God has revealed

them unto us by his Spirit, For the Spirit searches all things,

yes, the deep things of God. We need to understand that the

Holy Spirit is God. And so he's searching himself.

He's searching what He wants us to know, how to pin it down on
24:31
paper, how to write it on the papyrus scroll for us to
24:36
understand all of the eternal truths that God wants us to

understand, all the complete, infallible, inerrant word of God

pinned through human authorship. How amazing is our God?

The deep things of God, Yes, the spirit for the Spirit searches

11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of

man, which is in him. Even so, the things of God knows

no man but the Spirit of God. So no one can get inside of your

mind, friends, and so only you know all of your emotions and
25:20
thoughts. And he's saying that it is the

same whenever God is thinking about the things that He desires

for us to know about. There's no way that we could
25:32
ever know it unless He reveals it to us.

Friends. 12 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but
25:42
the Spirit which is of God, that we might know the things that
25:47
are freely given to us of God. So he told us exactly what we
25:52
needed to know to be saved and to be made right with him, to be
25:56
at one with him, to be justified in him, through him to put on
26:02
the righteousness of Jesus Christ.

All the plans from Genesis, chapter one, verse 1, all the
26:09
way to Revelation at the end of the Bible, Friends, it is the
26:13
complete work of God. And He knew all the things that
26:16
we needed to be saved. And the longer you go on with
26:19
God, you're going to see that the Scripture interprets the
26:22
Scripture and it all supports itself and it's all congruent,
26:25
this wonderful tapestry of God's Word.

And he knew exactly what he wanted to reveal to us.

And there is nothing that is left out of this book that needs

to be in there. And there is nothing in the
26:41
Bible that we need to try to take out or make an apology for.

Friends, we stand on the Word of God.

It is something that we can build our life upon, the chief
26:51
cornerstone of Christ and Christ crucified. 13 which things also

we speak not in the words which man's wisdom teaches, but which
27:09
the Holy Ghost teaches, comparing spiritual things with

spiritual. So the Holy Ghost is the one who
27:16
inspired Paul to write these words.

The Holy Ghost is the one who inspired Moses to write the

words. The Holy Ghost is the one who
27:28
inspired all of the authors of the Bible.

Friends, it is only the Holy Ghost that is teaching these

words. And what you're going to find is

this word is alive and active and sharper than any 2 edged

sword. It is an Organism.

It is breathing. Friends, you hold a book that

has the track record to be able to predict itself with accuracy.

Pinpoint accuracy, friends. It is the only piece of

literature known to mankind that has the ability to predict

itself with such accuracy. And because of all of the

prophecies that have already been fulfilled to the most
28:15
minute letter, we can trust that the prophecies that are not yet
28:20
fulfilled are going to be fulfilled to the exact degree
28:24
that the Bible tells us that they will.

And that is what you need to know.

It is a literal translation, friends.

It is an interpretation that is literal.

Friends, this is not Mystic. It is not figurative.

It's not allegorical. Friends, you need to understand

that what God says He means. 14 But the natural man receives not

the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto

him. Neither can he know them because

they are spiritually discerned. Deep calls to deep.

Either you understand it or you don't.

Either. When you read these words,

they're quickened in the inner man and they call out to you and

you leap for joy. When you read these words, or

you have approached this from a studious point of view, you just

want to know enough about God to not have to go to hell.

You want to know enough about God to Lord over people.

You want to know enough about God so that you can be engaged

in a conversation with other believers.

But when you come to the Lord Jesus Christ, he downloads the

66 books into your heart and mind.

If anyone is in Christ, they're a new creation.

And when I was a child, I used to reason as a child and think

as a child, but when I became a man, I did away with childish

things. And that is what you need to

know. If you were still stuck in the

worldly pleasures, then you are not yet filled with the Holy

Ghost. When the Holy Ghost has filled

you, you will say yes and Amen to all the promises of the Word

of God, and you will not call any of it into question.

Friends, you will not try to explain away what this one
30:14
writer meant when he actually said this or that.

That is how we err grievously is whenever we are trying to make

an apology for God's Word. That is how we err grievously

whenever we try to hyper spiritualize the Word of God.

When you do not take it at His Word, When you're trying to make

it into some kind of fairy tale book, Friends, When we do not

realize that God says what He means, and He means what He
30:50
says, and we do not need to call one single jot or title into
30:56
question. Who are you to try to come to

God and tell Him how to behave? There's foolishness unto them

that are not filled with the Holy Ghost. 15 But he that is
31:13
spiritual judges all things, yet He Himself is judged of no man
31:20
will end on. 16 For who has known the mind of the Lord, that
31:26
he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Praise God. Hallelujah, you can start to
31:36
understand these things. He gives you the mind of Christ.

You are a regenerated man. You were born again.

You can peek and peer into the spiritual realm and it is far
31:48
more superior than any of the physical things that you and I
31:51
are in. And what happens is here comes

the enemy and he wants us to squander our inheritance.

And he cannot snatch you out of God's hand, but he sure can't

get you to make a mess out of your life and ruin your
32:03
testimony, friends. And that is what you need to
32:06
understand is this is what we're up against.

If you do not have the Lord God Almighty living inside of you,

or if you do have the Holy Ghost living inside of you, you need

to cultivate that. You need to actually quit
32:24
searing your conscience. You need to quit grieving the
32:29
Spirit and you need to cultivate that relationship.

Return to your first love. If you are indwelled with the
32:38
Holy Ghost, return back to your first love.

Do the things that you were doing whenever you first fell in
32:45
love with Him, when you felt God the most in your life.

Go back and do those things, friends.

But if you have not yet received the Holy Ghost, then all of the

words on the pages are just muddled and they mean nothing,

and it's just a bunch of bibble Babble.

And that is all that we will find if we are not indwelled

with the Holy Ghost, if we're not full of the Holy Ghost.

Friends, I pray that you understand these spiritual

principles, that they are not missed upon you.

I pray that you have cultivated that relationship and deep calls
33:24
to deep and you're not calling any of God's word into the
33:28
courtroom to try to put God on the stand, to tell God that all
33:33
the ways that he is operating in the world even today are beneath
33:38
your moral standards. We just get out of the way and
33:45
we say yes and Amen to all of God's ways, even if they don't
33:49
line up with how we think God should operate.

We get in the Word of God. We believe every single word.

We stiff arm the things of this world, all the carnal physical
34:09
temptations that are coming our way.

The lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of
34:16
life are not from God. But we walk in the Spirit,

friends. We allow the Holy Spirit to
34:25
guide us all of our thoughts and all of our paths.

We do not need to manufacture our destiny.

We do not need to try to manufacture the life that we
34:35
want. We yield to God and we allow God
34:43
to be the one to have the last say on every moment of every day

of every second. Friends.
