- 0:00Speaker 1: Now more. Mark Simon on sevent TENR.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Well, we'll get to the state of the Indian space
- 0:10Speaker 2: coming up. It's only Wednesday. I don't know about where
- 0:14Speaker 2: you are. It's not so great everywhere else, but here
- 0:17Speaker 2: in Manhattan the snow is pretty much gone. It's a
- 0:20Speaker 2: little bit today, but it's going to be warm for
- 0:22Speaker 2: the next few days. That'll get rid of it all.
- 0:24Speaker 2: It'll be forty or more through the weekend. That will
- 0:27Speaker 2: get rid of it all. So the good news, there's
- 0:30Speaker 2: no more snowball fights. Now. This is a downtown snowball fight.
- 0:35Speaker 2: It started online. I think it was on TikTok or
- 0:39Speaker 2: Instagram or somewhere. But they started organizing this and then
- 0:42Speaker 2: hundreds of people, not kids, they looked like grown up
- 0:46Speaker 2: people showed up for this snowball fight and it got
- 0:49Speaker 2: out of control and there were a couple of hundred
- 0:50Speaker 2: of these people throwing snowballs. Now, remember on Monday, this
- 0:53Speaker 2: was at the height of the blizzard. It was wet,
- 0:56Speaker 2: hard snow. When you make a wet snowball, it's very hard.
- 0:59Speaker 2: It ice is up and it was freezing cold. So
- 1:01Speaker 2: these are dangerous kind of snowballs, and they were throwing
- 1:04Speaker 2: them everywhere, and there were a couple of hundred of
- 1:05Speaker 2: these kids in the neighbors. People in the neighborhood got
- 1:08Speaker 2: very alarmed at this, called nine to one one and
- 1:11Speaker 2: cops started to show up, and these crazy lunatics started
- 1:14Speaker 2: throwing snowballs at cops and then hitting them. You saw
- 1:18Speaker 2: the video cops getting hit in the head, getting hit
- 1:20Speaker 2: in the face, and many of these snowballs were pretty
- 1:23Speaker 2: hard and icy. It was an ugly thing. The police
- 1:27Speaker 2: commissioner right after that put out a text saying a
- 1:31Speaker 2: tweet saying that you know, they have a surveillance video,
- 1:35Speaker 2: they're going to look, they can identify faces. They're going
- 1:38Speaker 2: to start hunting down these people. That that was actually
- 1:41Speaker 2: a criminal act. That's assaulting a police officer. It's actually
- 1:44Speaker 2: a crime. You'll be arrested now. Then things changed when
- 1:49Speaker 2: mayor mom Donnie shows up. Of course, this crazy goofy,
- 1:53Speaker 2: young college a kid who's never had a job, never worked,
- 1:56Speaker 2: never manage anything, never run anything, bleeding heart, left wing kook.
- 2:01Speaker 2: So he wants to laugh the whole thing off. Ad
- 2:03Speaker 2: they were just kids.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I can just tell you from the video I saw
- 2:06Speaker 1: it looked like kids at a snowball fight.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Yeah, look at the video. I don't see any kids
- 2:11Speaker 2: in the video. They don't look like kids. They're not children,
- 2:13Speaker 2: they're grown up, they're adults.
- 2:15Speaker 1: From the videos that I've seen, it looks like a
- 2:17Speaker 1: snowball fight. I think that there were two officers who
- 2:20Speaker 1: were facing lacerations on.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Their face of those who built it them.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Look, I've seen the videos of this snowball fight. I
- 2:28Speaker 1: think that it was a snowball fight.
- 2:31Speaker 2: All right. Now, of course he's being a complete idiot.
- 2:34Speaker 2: He's so blinded by his left wing nonsense. Now, if
- 2:37Speaker 2: those were Muslims protesting something and they were getting hit
- 2:41Speaker 2: in the face with snowballs, would it just be kids? Eh,
- 2:43Speaker 2: just a snowball fight. If we're emom's being hit. If
- 2:46Speaker 2: it were those crazy left wing ice protesters, if they
- 2:49Speaker 2: were getting hit in the face with these snowballs by
- 2:52Speaker 2: adult males, would it be just a snowball fight? Of
- 2:55Speaker 2: course not. Police Commissioner is right, the head of the PBA, right,
- 3:00Speaker 2: it's criminal, it's a crime. These guys need to be
- 3:02Speaker 2: tracked down, arrested. They've identified some fate. They've got some
- 3:05Speaker 2: pretty good pictures of some of the faces. You can
- 3:08Speaker 2: see them online or on TV. But is it a crime?
- 3:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't. From the videos that I've seen, it
- 3:14Speaker 1: looks like a snowball fight.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Yeah, No, it's a crime. It's criminal. It's not a
- 3:18Speaker 2: snowball fight. First of all, the police didn't have any snowballs.
- 3:21Speaker 2: The snowball fight means two people thrown at each other.
- 3:24Speaker 2: The police did not have snowballs. They were not in
- 3:28Speaker 2: the snowball fight. They were trying to keep order. And
- 3:32Speaker 2: if you watch the videos, boy, you got to give
- 3:34Speaker 2: these cops and real credit amazing self control not to
- 3:39Speaker 2: react to that. It was pretty intense to getting hit
- 3:44Speaker 2: with these snowballs and they did not react. But it
- 3:47Speaker 2: was not a snowball fight. But any stretch of the imagination,
- 3:50Speaker 2: can you.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Agree with Commissioner Tish that what happened in Washington Square
- 3:53Speaker 1: Park with these snowballs was criminal? And how can you
- 3:56Speaker 1: take steps to potentially like this doesn't happen again. So
- 3:59Speaker 1: I've seen videos of kids drowing snowballs at members of
- 4:03Speaker 1: the NYPD in Washington Square Park, And first I want
- 4:05Speaker 1: to say that officers have been on the front line
- 4:08Speaker 1: of helping our city respond to this blizzard. They have
- 4:11Speaker 1: been keeping New Yorker safe. And they have also been
- 4:15Speaker 1: at the heart of our efforts of digging New Yorker's
- 4:18Speaker 1: cars out of these kinds of conditions and ensuring that
- 4:21Speaker 1: our ambulances, our MTA buses can keep functioning across this city.
- 4:25Speaker 1: They and our entire city workforce deserve to be treated
- 4:29Speaker 1: with respect. The only person in our city's workforce who
- 4:32Speaker 1: deserves to be treated with a snowball is me.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Okay, so now he's trying to cover his ass there,
- 4:38Speaker 2: but he's heading down a very bad path here. He's
- 4:41Speaker 2: going to end up like Deblasio. You remember Deblasio with
- 4:43Speaker 2: his bad attitude towards the cops. It got to the
- 4:46Speaker 2: point when that big public event, all the cops who
- 4:48Speaker 2: had been lined to turn their back on him. You
- 4:51Speaker 2: don't want to get into that kind of stuff. You
- 4:53Speaker 2: don't want to end up like that. And this guy's
- 4:57Speaker 2: probably smarter than Deblasio. The problem is it's in an
- 5:00Speaker 2: academic kind of way, so he doesn't have any real
- 5:03Speaker 2: world experience or management experience. But the President mentioning him
- 5:08Speaker 2: last night in the speech, said, you know, he's a
- 5:11Speaker 2: nice guy. He's a nice guy. Bad policies, but he's
- 5:14Speaker 2: a nice guy. And the President mentioning in the speech
- 5:17Speaker 2: he does talk to him regularly, so he keeps talking
- 5:19Speaker 2: to him. Now, why keep saying he's a nice Well,
- 5:22Speaker 2: sometimes people are nice. Guy. Sometimes these horrible people you
- 5:24Speaker 2: see on TV in real life, they're nice people, but
- 5:30Speaker 2: they're bad at their jobs. They really stink. I think
- 5:33Speaker 2: the President thinks by keeping the conversation going with this
- 5:36Speaker 2: guy that at some point he'll be able to have
- 5:39Speaker 2: some influence on him. He's not going to turn him
- 5:42Speaker 2: into a normal person, but at some point he may
- 5:45Speaker 2: be able to get him in a back off on something.
- 5:48Speaker 2: So I think he just sees some hope for helping
- 5:52Speaker 2: this guy straightening me out just a hair at some point.
- 5:56Speaker 2: He also Mom Donnie and AOC, These two nut jobs,
- 5:59Speaker 2: these two left wing kooch's, did an ad which they
- 6:02Speaker 2: posted its video. It's the most cringey thing in the world.
- 6:05Speaker 2: It's basically telling illegals to sign up for illegals to
- 6:09Speaker 2: sign up for daycare that taxpayers will pay for. They're
- 6:13Speaker 2: getting a lot of flak for that, but hey, this
- 6:16Speaker 2: is New York. You got enough crazy lunatics of elect
- 6:19Speaker 2: people like AOC, people like this guy. State of the
- 6:24Speaker 2: Union speech last night went very very well. If you
- 6:27Speaker 2: don't believe me, put on MSNBC. Watch how angry they're
- 6:30Speaker 2: there get and they're so angry about the speech. They're
- 6:32Speaker 2: yelling and screaming, and Morning Joe ranting and raving. Now,
- 6:36Speaker 2: as soon as the presidents don't want these speeches, the
- 6:39Speaker 2: fact checkers go to work and try to destroy him
- 6:41Speaker 2: with the fact check. They were unable to find much
- 6:44Speaker 2: of anything. Now, if you go to the real partisan
- 6:49Speaker 2: left wing kook sites like media Heite, you know, they
- 6:53Speaker 2: just always say crazy things. It says CNN's fact checker
- 6:59Speaker 2: blistering check on Trump's speech, fifteen false claim, fifteen lies,
- 7:04Speaker 2: a blistering fact. Well, let's go see what the blistering
- 7:08Speaker 2: fact they really found. Nothing. He said he inherited a
- 7:12Speaker 2: stagnant economy. But inflation was already coming down under Biden. Yeah,
- 7:17Speaker 2: but it's very misleading. Inflation is lower under Trump, much
- 7:21Speaker 2: lower than under Biden. Biden had. The reason it was
- 7:24Speaker 2: coming down was Biden was always had high inflation. At
- 7:27Speaker 2: one point it went so high it went like through
- 7:29Speaker 2: the roof to nine percent, highest in our lifetime. So
- 7:34Speaker 2: you can't stay at that. It came down from nine
- 7:35Speaker 2: percent to like six percent if I was still bad.
- 7:38Speaker 2: It's so that fact check is just ridiculous. Now, one point,
- 7:42Speaker 2: he claimed that there's plenty of states where gas is
- 7:44Speaker 2: two dollars and thirty cents a gallon and in some
- 7:48Speaker 2: places a dollar ninety nine a gallon. Well the fact checkers, oh,
- 7:51Speaker 2: this is a total lie. Well it's not a total lie.
- 7:54Speaker 2: It's absolutely correct. How does the fact checker try to
- 7:56Speaker 2: claim it's a lie. Well, he says he checked with
- 7:59Speaker 2: the Triple A and there's no state where the average
- 8:03Speaker 2: is a dollar ninety nine. Well he didn't say the average.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Now for instance here, so somebody went into Oklahoma and
- 8:09Speaker 2: found four gas stations that had a gas at a
- 8:12Speaker 2: dollar ninety nine, So the present was correct. The fact
- 8:15Speaker 2: check are really trying to stretch things. That's the one
- 8:18Speaker 2: that drives people nuts because that's the thing that we're
- 8:20Speaker 2: yelling about gas prices. You know, it's four dollars a gallon,
- 8:23Speaker 2: four point fifty five dollars a gallon. Six dollars a
- 8:25Speaker 2: gallon in California. Still is you know, everywhere you go
- 8:29Speaker 2: all over America, gas is about two dollars and thirty cents.
- 8:32Speaker 2: If you're here in New York, it's still like four dollars.
- 8:34Speaker 2: If you're in Connecticut, Westchester, maybe it's three foot. Why
- 8:38Speaker 2: is it so high when it's dropped dramatically, it's down
- 8:41Speaker 2: to two dollars and thirty cents everywhere else, it's because
- 8:44Speaker 2: of New York. They won't let it drop. They every
- 8:47Speaker 2: time it's going to drop, they put more state tax
- 8:50Speaker 2: on it. So when you see this continued high price
- 8:53Speaker 2: of gas, it's all state tax. They kept the price
- 8:56Speaker 2: high by state tax. Same thing in California. You know,
- 9:00Speaker 2: it's still five six dollars a gallon. It should be
- 9:03Speaker 2: two dollars and thirty cents like everywhere else, but the
- 9:05Speaker 2: state keeps piling taxes on. So no fact checker is
- 9:10Speaker 2: yet to find any real, actual false claim in the
- 9:13Speaker 2: president's speech. Hey, in fact, we could fact check the media.
- 9:16Speaker 2: They got a lot of things wrong. David Muir and
- 9:21Speaker 2: Jonathan Carl ABC News, the President is, you know, the
- 9:24Speaker 2: first five ten minutes is the President coming down the aisle,
- 9:28Speaker 2: shaking hands, taking selfies, people greeting him. And at one
- 9:33Speaker 2: point he got to the Supreme Court justices and David
- 9:36Speaker 2: Muir and Jonathan Carl to fake news guys, especially Carl said,
- 9:42Speaker 2: look at that he refused to shake hands with Amy
- 9:45Speaker 2: coney Barrett. He shook hands with Kavanaugh, but not with
- 9:48Speaker 2: Amy coney Barrett, who voted against him. Well, they got
- 9:52Speaker 2: that wrong. He did shake hands with Amy coney Barrett.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Now I'll give them a little pass on this, because
- 9:58Speaker 2: there was a woman that down the aisle with President Trump.
- 10:01Speaker 2: She was some kind of aid coming down the aisle
- 10:04Speaker 2: with him, like escorting him. She looks exactly like Amy
- 10:09Speaker 2: coney Barrett. So if you were looking fast, you see
- 10:11Speaker 2: him shake Kabanough's hand and the woman is standing there,
- 10:13Speaker 2: and he doesn't shake her hand. But the woman is
- 10:15Speaker 2: with him, he wouldn't shake her hand, So it was
- 10:17Speaker 2: an honest mistake, probably because she does. It's unbelievable the
- 10:21Speaker 2: resemblance there. So hey, you know what's interesting the South
- 10:28Speaker 2: Street Seaport. You ever been there? I see most people
- 10:31Speaker 2: haven't been there for like thirty forty years. They've been
- 10:36Speaker 2: trying to get the South Street Seaport going here in Manhattan,
- 10:39Speaker 2: you know, the meatpacking district was a dangerous, isolated, terrible place.
- 10:44Speaker 2: And then the great Irwin Cohen, the great New York
- 10:47Speaker 2: legendary builder, built the Chelsea Market and it started to
- 10:52Speaker 2: really take off, and then the whole everything took off
- 10:55Speaker 2: around it, and that created the Meatpacking District, and to
- 10:58Speaker 2: this day it's one of the hottest places of men
- 11:00Speaker 2: go down to. The Meatpacking District was a million great restaurants, hotels, stores,
- 11:06Speaker 2: great stores and everything is there. Everything in the Chelsea Market,
- 11:10Speaker 2: the whole first floors like an enormous food court. Millions
- 11:13Speaker 2: of people down there go down to Tribeca. It's been
- 11:17Speaker 2: so they've been trying to do this with the South
- 11:19Speaker 2: Street Seaport for about forty years now years ago. Remember
- 11:24Speaker 2: it was a late eighties early nineties Dinkins administration. They're
- 11:28Speaker 2: trying to really get the South Street Seaport to take off.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Remember Carolines was a big comedy club downtown and they
- 11:37Speaker 2: got her to close and moved to the big, big,
- 11:39Speaker 2: big comedy club at South Street Seaport and she opened
- 11:43Speaker 2: there and other stuff. I loved restaurants open there. There
- 11:45Speaker 2: was Roeblings. There was all these great restaurants South Street Seaport,
- 11:48Speaker 2: and one by one they all went out of business
- 11:50Speaker 2: because nobody wanted to go down there. And Carolines closed
- 11:53Speaker 2: and moved the Times Square where it flourished. So it
- 11:56Speaker 2: never worked that South Street Seaport. So about was it
- 11:58Speaker 2: five years ago? They decided to get it going again,
- 12:03Speaker 2: and they built with the tin building, and they got
- 12:05Speaker 2: all these top restaurants and they got John George to
- 12:08Speaker 2: come down there and open the most incredible food hall
- 12:11Speaker 2: ever and an amazing restaurant. Yeah it was twenty twenty two.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Was that four years ago? And it was ten years
- 12:20Speaker 2: in the making, big real estate guys, that we'll get
- 12:22Speaker 2: this South Street Seaport going again. Ten years they worked
- 12:25Speaker 2: on this, poured hundreds of millions of dollars into this,
- 12:28Speaker 2: even though John John George deal was for two hundred million.
- 12:33Speaker 2: So he opened it was going to be like Italy
- 12:35Speaker 2: or the Chelsea Marty opened this incredible food hall, restaurants, unbelievable, luxurious, beautiful, unbelievable.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Well it all closed last week. It all closed down.
- 12:48Speaker 2: It's gone, it's closed. They couldn't get it going again.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Just total lack of foot traffic. People blamed the ice
- 12:57Speaker 2: relatively remote location along the East River. It's too far
- 13:00Speaker 2: away from anybody commuting. It's not convenient to any subways
- 13:04Speaker 2: and anything you think about the Chelsea market there's like
- 13:08Speaker 2: twelve subways that go right there. It's easy to get to.
- 13:11Speaker 2: It's right next to the village. It's right next to
- 13:13Speaker 2: so soho. Try back South streets. She boards like the
- 13:16Speaker 2: middle of nowhere. They cannot get it going. It was
- 13:21Speaker 2: kind of the same with Hudson Yards, although Hudson Yards
- 13:23Speaker 2: is different. Hutson Yards has a lot of apartment buildings
- 13:26Speaker 2: an office building, so you got a bunch of people
- 13:29Speaker 2: that are there anyway, and it's not that isolated. It's
- 13:32Speaker 2: like a few blocks from Penn Station. But South Street Seaport.
- 13:36Speaker 2: I don't know what they're going to ever do at
- 13:38Speaker 2: that place. Hey, Martin Short, this is just terrible. Another
- 13:44Speaker 2: great tragedy in Hollywood. Martin Short, his daughter Catherine killed herself.
- 13:49Speaker 2: She was only forty. They just had a big birthday
- 13:52Speaker 2: party for big splashy birthday party at a restaurant with
- 13:55Speaker 2: Goldie Hawn was there, Catherine O'Hara, Joni Mitchell. That was
- 13:59Speaker 2: the's idol. Joni Mitchell even named her dog after Joni Mitchell.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Fortieth birthday party and his daughter, Katherine was a social
- 14:09Speaker 2: worker and then went later to her apartment committed suicide.
- 14:14Speaker 2: TMZ reported she was found dead with a self inflicted
- 14:18Speaker 2: gunshot wound. It's just horrible, Martin Short, you know. And
- 14:23Speaker 2: Martin Short, he's been through a lot of death. His
- 14:25Speaker 2: former wife died, his brother died, his parents died, and
- 14:29Speaker 2: now now they say that the daughter was suffering from
- 14:34Speaker 2: some sort of mental illness and had problems all along.
- 14:37Speaker 2: So we'll see what he says. He hasn't really commented yet. Hey,
- 14:42Speaker 2: an American Airlines plane lands in Miami. It had been
- 14:45Speaker 2: in Colombia, in South South America, Columbia. It lands in Miami.
- 14:50Speaker 2: You know, when a plane lands, they do a quick inspection,
- 14:52Speaker 2: you see what mostly to clean the planet. But it
- 14:56Speaker 2: lands from Colombia. During the inspection, they find a number
- 14:59Speaker 2: of bullet holes. Bullet holes in the plane from Columbia. Now,
- 15:04Speaker 2: if you hit the right stuff, in fact, it hit
- 15:07Speaker 2: the right aleron whichever that is, which helps control the
- 15:10Speaker 2: balance of the plane, it can cause a crash if well. Luckily,
- 15:15Speaker 2: with all these bullet holes it didn't and the plane
- 15:17Speaker 2: was able to land. Okay, Hey, we'll take some calls. Next.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten is the
- 15:23Speaker 2: number eight hundred three two one zero seven ten
