Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Live from the WOR LifeVac studios, Mark Simone.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Hey, let's take some calls. Let's go to Walt in Westchester. Walt,
- 0:14Speaker 2: how are you doing?
- 0:15Speaker 3: Hey, Mark, pretty good. You just mentioned Fraser Crane. His
- 0:20Speaker 3: wife on screen, Lilith, was perhaps the most reprehensible character
- 0:25Speaker 3: that I've ever seen. Notice, and I suspect, that Baby
- 0:27Speaker 3: Newworth should have received many an award for her expert portrayal.
- 0:32Speaker 3: What say you?
- 0:33Speaker 2: No, I liked, what was her name, Lilith, Lilith Crane.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:37Speaker 2: No, I liked Baby Newworth. Very nice woman, very nice actress.
- 0:41Speaker 2: She was a pretty good character. I mean, he was
- 0:43Speaker 2: kind of reprehensible, too, Frasier Crane. Well, that shut him up.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Well, yeah. He's a snotty, elitist.
- 0:55Speaker 3: She comes across as a characteristic liberal. I wonder if
- 0:58Speaker 3: she is so in real life.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Well, I've talked to her a million times. She's been
- 1:04Speaker 2: on the show a bunch of times. But to be
- 1:05Speaker 2: honest with you, I don't think I've ever heard her
- 1:07Speaker 2: say anything political. Although I think you might be right.
- 1:09Speaker 2: I think she was involved in one of those crazy campaigns.
- 1:13Speaker 2: You may be right. Let's go to Bob in Florida. Bob,
- 1:17Speaker 2: how are you doing?
- 1:18Speaker 1: Happy Monday, Mark Simone, Mr.
- 1:21Speaker 4: New York.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I hope I got your title right.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Yeah, where are you in Florida?
- 1:25Speaker 1: I'm in Boquilla, Florida.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Where the hell is that?
- 1:28Speaker 5: Where?
- 1:28Speaker 1: It's on Pine Island. It's in southwest Florida. It's west
- 1:32Speaker 1: of Cape Coral. You know, Fort Myers, Cape Coral metropolitan area. Pardon?
- 1:39Speaker 2: What are you, the fugitive? Find a place in Florida.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm running from the law. I really shouldn't comment
- 1:44Speaker 1: on that. No, I grew up in Chicago. I lived
- 1:46Speaker 1: in Arizona for years with the post office. I was
- 1:49Speaker 1: a mailman in Los Angeles for 15, 16 years. My
- 1:52Speaker 1: body was breaking down. My mind couldn't take the BS.
- 1:55Speaker 2: What do you mean your body was breaking down? So
- 1:57Speaker 2: you mean very tough on your body?
- 2:00Speaker 1: Carrying mail up and down. People would tell me, hey,
- 2:04Speaker 1: nice day for a walk. And I would say, yeah,
- 2:06Speaker 1: too bad I've got to carry this heavy sack of
- 2:08Speaker 1: mail on my back.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Well, don't you have one of those carts with the
- 2:11Speaker 2: wheels that you push?
- 2:13Speaker 1: I was in hills. A lot of people opted for
- 2:15Speaker 1: the carts. I never liked the cart. It was too
- 2:17Speaker 1: much of a hindrance.
- 2:18Speaker 2: And when you're a postman in Arizona, isn't it like
- 2:22Speaker 2: 110 degrees some days? You got to be out there?
- 2:24Speaker 1: No, actually, I worked on the inside in Arizona for
- 2:27Speaker 1: a year. I started in Chicago on the inside. One
- 2:30Speaker 1: day they put up a notice that reassignment opportunities exist
- 2:34Speaker 1: in the Phoenix district. I said, hell, sign me up.
- 2:36Speaker 1: But then I get out there and it was like, well,
- 2:39Speaker 1: Keely of Florida. It was like nothing around there at all. Oh.
- 2:42Speaker 2: You know, this would be a hell of a series,
- 2:44Speaker 2: a TV series, a dramatic series. Mailman. Yeah. A Quinn
- 2:47Speaker 2: Martin introduction. Go ahead. What did you want to say?
- 2:49Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, some of the women letter carriers, they
- 2:53Speaker 1: call themselves mail ladies. And I was in Los Angeles, so,
- 2:55Speaker 1: you know.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Yeah, those letter carriers.
- 2:59Speaker 4: Mail ladies.
- 3:00Speaker 1: You don't see a lot of Playboy centerfolds here. I
- 3:04Speaker 1: heard a news thing about some religious guy that, met
- 3:08Speaker 1: with Trump, and Trump prayed with him and did a video.
- 3:12Speaker 1: So the religious guy complained that El Presidente put that
- 3:16Speaker 1: video out as a political maneuver. You see, I had
- 3:19Speaker 1: to wait an hour and a half to go in this...
- 3:21Speaker 1: Imagine Mark Simone having to wait an hour and a
- 3:23Speaker 1: half to go in... to meet with the leader of
- 3:26Speaker 1: the free world. But anyway, so the guy's making it
- 3:29Speaker 1: into a political thing now, you know, two weeks before
- 3:33Speaker 1: the election, you did this. Why are you going out
- 3:35Speaker 1: and talking about it? It was such a terrible thing
- 3:37Speaker 1: because you want to rally Democrats.
- 3:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:39Speaker 2: No, there's Trump haters everywhere. It's like Bill Maher goes
- 3:42Speaker 2: to dinner, admits the president was really gracious to him
- 3:46Speaker 2: and then trashes him. That's politics. Let's go to Cindy
- 3:50Speaker 2: in Connecticut. Cindy, how you doing?
- 3:53Speaker 1: Hi, Mark.
- 3:54Speaker 5: First time caller. Love your show.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Thanks.
- 3:56Speaker 5: I just caught a documentary over the weekend I'd like
- 4:00Speaker 5: to recommend to some of your listeners. It was called
- 4:04Speaker 5: White Guilt.
- 4:05Speaker 2: What is that about?
- 4:09Speaker 5: It covers the civil rights movement and the gentleman Shelby Steele.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, yeah. Where are you in Connecticut?
- 4:22Speaker 5: Stratford.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Stratford is beautiful. It was a gorgeous autumn weekend. This
- 4:27Speaker 2: is what you do. You sit home and watch a
- 4:28Speaker 2: documentary called White Guilt.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Get outside.
- 4:31Speaker 5: Have some fun. I did it last night in the evening.
- 4:36Speaker 2: It's Sunday night. Go out. There's a million great places. Stratford,
- 4:39Speaker 2: Milford's got a lot of action there. Go on out.
- 4:42Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 4:43Speaker 5: We're going out for a nice walk today.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Oh.
- 4:46Speaker 5: Going down to Milford and walk the beach.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Milford is beautiful. Got a lot of great restaurants.
- 4:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I Yeah, and I just wanted to say I'm
- 4:54Speaker 5: feeling real good about the election. Hopefully we'll see some
- 4:59Speaker 5: good stuff come out of this.
- 5:00Speaker 2: All right. Well, get out there and vote. Early voting.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Make sure you do that early voting. Thanks for calling, Cindy.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Let's go to Dennis in Long Island. Dennis, how are you?
- 5:11Speaker 4: I'm well.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Good morning, Mark.
- 5:12Speaker 4: You know, you mentioned earlier the Wall Street Journal turning
- 5:15Speaker 4: sour on Donald Trump.
- 5:17Speaker 2: On everything. It's become unreliable. Don't read the Wall Street
- 5:20Speaker 2: Journal anymore. You can't even.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Well, no, no, no.
- 5:21Speaker 4: It's owned by Rupert Murdoch and the Murdoch clan. They
- 5:26Speaker 4: hate Donald Trump. So that's what you say.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Well, yeah, no, no, that's fine. And that's OK, too,
- 5:30Speaker 2: if you hate Donald Trump. But it's more than that.
- 5:32Speaker 2: They've become unreliable. And again, it might be owned by
- 5:36Speaker 2: Rupert Murdoch. He's not a big tamper. I mean, once
- 5:39Speaker 2: in a while he'll say something, but he's. Not a hands-on,
- 5:41Speaker 2: day-to-day guy on those things. He basically leaves them independent.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Wall Street Journal has just become very unreliable. Let's go
- 5:48Speaker 2: to Ira in Brooklyn. Ira, how are you doing?
- 5:52Speaker 6: Good. Thank you, Mark. Mark, you used to have a
- 5:55Speaker 6: guy call you. This was a long time ago. He
- 5:59Speaker 6: wanted to be a stand-up comic, and you used to
- 6:02Speaker 6: have so much fun with him. You used to tease him.
- 6:05Speaker 6: Do you remember who it was? Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 6:08Speaker 2: He used to be a prison guard, right?
- 6:12Speaker 6: I don't remember that part.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Yeah, he was like a retired corrections officer. He lived
- 6:15Speaker 2: in Long Island. He would call in. You're talking like
- 6:18Speaker 2: 10 years ago. He was a very nice guy. I
- 6:20Speaker 2: met him once somewhere in Long Island. He came over
- 6:21Speaker 2: to me. I can't remember his name, but you're right.
- 6:26Speaker 2: He used to call all the time and try out
- 6:29Speaker 2: his stand-up. I don't know what happened to him. Sometimes
- 6:33Speaker 2: callers just disappear, and you never know ever what happened
- 6:39Speaker 2: to them. That's a good question. If anybody remembers or
- 6:42Speaker 2: knows him, tell him to call again. We haven't talked
- 6:44Speaker 2: to him in a long time. Hey, coming up, we've
- 6:49Speaker 2: got a lot of stuff to get to in the
- 6:51Speaker 2: next hour. And Bruce Blakeman will be with us later
- 6:53Speaker 2: in the program. Don't forget, I'll be filling in for
- 6:56Speaker 2: Sean Hannity today, 3 to 6. He's on his honeymoon.
- 7:00Speaker 2: I guess that's a good excuse to miss work. Yeah,
- 7:02Speaker 2: I guess that's a good excuse. And then we'll talk
- 7:05Speaker 2: to the greatest columnist in America, Michael Goodwin. Coming up
- 7:10Speaker 2: next on 710WOR.
