- 0:10Speaker 1: We're joined by Chris Simms here.
- 0:11Speaker 2: You can check them out every day PFT with Mike
- 0:13Speaker 2: Florio on Peacock The Unbuttoned podcast as well.
- 0:16Speaker 1: I co hosted that show with him four of the
- 0:18Speaker 1: five days.
- 0:18Speaker 3: This week.
- 0:19Speaker 1: It was great.
- 0:20Speaker 2: I was there Mike Ya live as Chris Simms is
- 0:23Speaker 2: counting down his annual countdown of NFL quarterbacks the rankings
- 0:28Speaker 2: for twenty twenty six. Simms had me in and I
- 0:31Speaker 2: know you guys were insanely jealous, but he had me
- 0:33Speaker 2: in to countdown the final five or six guys, and
- 0:37Speaker 2: I gotta tell you, it's everything I expected and more.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Well, I appreciate you saying that. Thanks man. You know
- 0:47Speaker 3: I don't want to disappoint it. Yea, As I said, then,
- 0:50Speaker 3: you're responsible for me starting this damn list, so it
- 0:53Speaker 3: was a It made sense to have you to end
- 0:57Speaker 3: it and be a part of it. So that's cool.
- 0:59Speaker 3: But yet never never an easy exercise, as you know,
- 1:02Speaker 3: and it's splitting hairs and uh, I'm sure I'll have
- 1:06Speaker 3: to hear some shit from you and the rest of
- 1:08Speaker 3: your crew about some of these rankings.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Here.
- 1:10Speaker 3: We'll see.
- 1:10Speaker 4: Well, yeah, yeah, I have a little advice for next year.
- 1:13Speaker 4: And you know, take it you will. But we don't
- 1:17Speaker 4: care about the top five. We know who's gonna be
- 1:19Speaker 4: there next time count one to forty three, because I
- 1:23Speaker 4: was much more interested in who you had, like thirty one,
- 1:25Speaker 4: thirty two, thirty three.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Yeah, and I care.
- 1:27Speaker 4: Oh oh you got Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen at
- 1:30Speaker 4: the top.
- 1:31Speaker 3: No shit, no, I hear you there. I hear you.
- 1:35Speaker 3: You know, and and and like I like I said, uh,
- 1:38Speaker 3: you know, it's it's not it's not easy. You're right.
- 1:41Speaker 3: The top four are still a special group there. And
- 1:43Speaker 3: I think the other part of that too, that that
- 1:46Speaker 3: could be interesting at least for next year. Mike, yeahs,
- 1:49Speaker 3: I do feel like this is the first year in
- 1:53Speaker 3: a long time that we're going into it. Where I go,
- 1:56Speaker 3: there could be some other guys in the top four
- 1:58Speaker 3: after next year. You can see see what happens, right,
- 2:01Speaker 3: I mean, you guys know Caleb Williams of course has
- 2:03Speaker 3: the talent to be a number one. Drake May Jaden
- 2:06Speaker 3: Daniels for me, certainly. So there's some guys that are
- 2:09Speaker 3: climbing the ranks, and some of these young superstars where
- 2:12Speaker 3: I go, they could challenge this top four thing for sure, Sims.
- 2:15Speaker 5: Where did you get the most pushback on your list
- 2:17Speaker 5: and why was it Jalen Hurts at twenty one.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Yep, yeah, No, I mean, you know what, I don't
- 2:23Speaker 3: feel like my Jalen Hurts pushback was nearly as aggressive
- 2:27Speaker 3: this year. I noticed it during the year, and again,
- 2:32Speaker 3: I know there's gonna be some people that are negative
- 2:34Speaker 3: on it, but I did notice throughout the year that
- 2:36Speaker 3: it felt like the tide was turning a little bit
- 2:40Speaker 3: with the fan base and even them realizing some of
- 2:43Speaker 3: the issues that Jalen Hurts has there. So I think
- 2:46Speaker 3: that's one you know that's always there. Brock Purdy at
- 2:50Speaker 3: seventeen always ignites the forty nine er fan base, which
- 2:53Speaker 3: you know is an incredible fan base that they so
- 2:55Speaker 3: they're always mad about that. Tyler Shuck at twenty seven.
- 3:01Speaker 3: That's one where I always, when I get done with
- 3:04Speaker 3: this exercise, go ooh, if I could have had a
- 3:06Speaker 3: do over at a few places, maybe what would I
- 3:10Speaker 3: have done differently? Shuck is one that I look at
- 3:13Speaker 3: to go, oh, maybe I should have projected just a
- 3:15Speaker 3: little bit of a better year coming up that way.
- 3:19Speaker 3: The other one I would look at, though, I just
- 3:21Speaker 3: wish I might have changed is probably should have put
- 3:23Speaker 3: Fernando Mendoza up a little bit. That's another one that
- 3:26Speaker 3: I'm probably disappointed and made him a little lower than
- 3:29Speaker 3: I think he should have been.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Sims.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Who's a guy who's you know, maybe in that fifteen
- 3:34Speaker 2: to twenty range.
- 3:35Speaker 1: That could be a guy who's a top five guy
- 3:37Speaker 1: next year.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Oh that that's a good one. So all right. So
- 3:40Speaker 3: I mean Jordan Love is number fifteen and he certainly
- 3:43Speaker 3: could be that. And this is this is a great
- 3:46Speaker 3: question because this is what just shows you what we
- 3:48Speaker 3: got right now. Bo Nicks. I don't think it's crazy
- 3:51Speaker 3: to think he could dance around that area there. Bo
- 3:54Speaker 3: Nicks has got incredible talent. All right. So that and
- 3:57Speaker 3: here's the other one I'll throw out. I mean, day
- 4:00Speaker 3: Stroud has danced around. He think he's been six or
- 4:03Speaker 3: seven and a few of my past years, definitely seven.
- 4:06Speaker 3: I don't know if he actually got to six. So
- 4:08Speaker 3: he's there, but you know, of course it's not been
- 4:11Speaker 3: the best last two years. The guy I'm most intrigued by,
- 4:14Speaker 3: and I think you've heard me say this to guts,
- 4:17Speaker 3: Malik Willis at nineteen. To me has really superstar talent. Now,
- 4:22Speaker 3: I don't know if he's going to be able to
- 4:24Speaker 3: show it this year with Miami kind of in a
- 4:25Speaker 3: rebuild and a retool and they don't have a lot
- 4:28Speaker 3: of weapons at receiver. But he is one guy that
- 4:30Speaker 3: I look at and when I watch him on film,
- 4:33Speaker 3: I'm amazed by his talent and his ability and he's
- 4:36Speaker 3: learned how to play the position to where I look
- 4:38Speaker 3: at it and go this guy could be a superstar.
- 4:41Speaker 3: He could be a regular on the Top six seven.
- 4:45Speaker 3: That kind of talent in Malik Willis.
- 4:47Speaker 4: So you mentioned Caleb Williams could be in the top five,
- 4:51Speaker 4: and I know you've got an interview coming out with
- 4:54Speaker 4: him the new Madden cover. My question is did he
- 4:57Speaker 4: cry and does he cry a lot like when you
- 5:00Speaker 4: were talking to him. Did he weep or was it
- 5:02Speaker 4: just a little teary baby?
- 5:06Speaker 1: That's what we've heard. I'm not saying it's true.
- 5:08Speaker 3: I'm no, that's I'm so great, You're you're actually going
- 5:11Speaker 3: down this lane because I was actually just talking about
- 5:14Speaker 3: this first off. First off, you know Caleb Williams, I mean,
- 5:20Speaker 3: he was extremely happy. He's he's hit the most improbable,
- 5:25Speaker 3: most unbelievable trifecta you could ever hit as a quarterback.
- 5:29Speaker 3: He won the Heisman, he's on the cover of Madden
- 5:32Speaker 3: and he got a one on one interview with Christim's unbutton.
- 5:34Speaker 3: I told him he can retire. He's done. He's going
- 5:36Speaker 3: to the Hall of Fame. Everybody knows that.
- 5:38Speaker 1: A right, all right.
- 5:39Speaker 3: The second thing I'll say is, screw you, Miggy A
- 5:41Speaker 3: for that bullshit ask comment. All right, That's what I'll
- 5:44Speaker 3: say about that conversation. Okay, good, you did hear that?
- 5:48Speaker 3: Because it does jog crazy. Wemby cries and everybody's like, oh,
- 5:53Speaker 3: he's Wemby, He's the alien. It's always it's so passionate.
- 5:56Speaker 3: He wants to be in the finals. He's so happy,
- 5:59Speaker 3: and then you know, and then it's Caleb Williams cries
- 6:02Speaker 3: and it's like, oh, he's such a wimp loser. Oh
- 6:04Speaker 3: my gosh, you can never lead a team. And it's
- 6:07Speaker 3: just like, that's what I hate about sports. That's why
- 6:09Speaker 3: I got into the job. It is to correct stupid
- 6:12Speaker 3: narratives like that. So I'm glad you're just playing with
- 6:14Speaker 3: me and not real with that.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Quick well, there's a reason, just quickly, since we're here Okay,
- 6:18Speaker 2: I mean Wemby's crying because he made it to the
- 6:20Speaker 2: NBA Finals. It did so ahead his schedule and beat
- 6:23Speaker 2: Oklahoma City and it means.
- 6:24Speaker 3: A lot to him.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Caleb hasn't done anything. He spoke to you. He started crying.
- 6:28Speaker 3: I mean, well he did not. He cried at the end.
- 6:30Speaker 3: He lost his what his last college game, and he
- 6:33Speaker 3: was disappointed. And we always want our players to show
- 6:36Speaker 3: emotion and act like they don't care because they don't
- 6:39Speaker 3: care anymore. But then when they do it, they it
- 6:41Speaker 3: was just some of them. We go, how dare you
- 6:43Speaker 3: act like you care and have emotions? What the fuck
- 6:46Speaker 3: are you doing? And this is what I hate. I
- 6:48Speaker 3: hate that crowd.
- 6:50Speaker 4: So he cried a lot.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I as. Stop.
- 6:53Speaker 3: He's really he's really awesome, and he has more of
- 6:56Speaker 3: an edge about him, and he's got a little bit more,
- 7:01Speaker 3: you know, I think, emotional craziness. And I always say
- 7:05Speaker 3: this a psycho in a good way than I thought. Right,
- 7:08Speaker 3: first off, he's an old soul. He's very rooted in
- 7:12Speaker 3: deep thought. There's really nothing he has in like football wise,
- 7:16Speaker 3: that hasn't thought about in depth and give you a
- 7:18Speaker 3: great answer. And then yeah, I didn't realize and what
- 7:21Speaker 3: he says, and one of the things in the interview
- 7:23Speaker 3: is just said, yeah, he's had a fight of emotions
- 7:26Speaker 3: and learn to not go crazy or get mad at
- 7:29Speaker 3: you know, and that's been a learning process for him
- 7:31Speaker 3: since a young kid.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Tyler Shock, Taylor and mikey A love that guy. And
- 7:35Speaker 2: you're disappointed with where you ranked him. If you had
- 7:38Speaker 2: to do it over again, where would you put him?
- 7:41Speaker 3: I know, I think I you know, it's like I
- 7:43Speaker 3: got him at twenty seven. I think I probably if
- 7:46Speaker 3: I had to do it over again, maybe could have
- 7:48Speaker 3: should have made him twenty three, twenty four, right where
- 7:51Speaker 3: I got like cam Ward and Gino Smith. Sure, that's
- 7:54Speaker 3: probably where it should be, you know, And that's where
- 7:58Speaker 3: I feel like I might have messed up. That might
- 7:59Speaker 3: be my most glaring mistake to me if I self
- 8:02Speaker 3: scout myself like I always do right and the whole thing,
- 8:05Speaker 3: and uh yeah, And no disrespect to Tyler Shuck because
- 8:08Speaker 3: I really like the way he played at the end
- 8:09Speaker 3: of the year last year.
- 8:10Speaker 2: What's the biggest leap a quarterback has ever made year
- 8:13Speaker 2: to year? Meaning can cam Ward? Because I know you
- 8:15Speaker 2: love cam Ward? If he puts up monster numbers. They
- 8:17Speaker 2: have a big year, he has a big year. Can
- 8:19Speaker 2: that guy jump from where he is in the twenties
- 8:22Speaker 2: all the way to the top ten.
- 8:23Speaker 3: He's got that kind of talent he does. Yes and
- 8:26Speaker 3: yeah with day Ball being there and you know, him
- 8:29Speaker 3: getting taught and another what hurts for cam Ward and
- 8:31Speaker 3: what I did dock him for a little bit is
- 8:34Speaker 3: that he didn't get to do the offseason this year, right,
- 8:37Speaker 3: So he's gonna miss some growth there in the year
- 8:39Speaker 3: one and year two as he rehabs his shoulder. But
- 8:42Speaker 3: he's another guy. You know, you asked about those fifteen
- 8:45Speaker 3: to twenty guys where here's a guy after twenty where
- 8:47Speaker 3: I could go. I could see him dancing around the
- 8:49Speaker 3: top five and then not so, you know, just in future.
- 8:52Speaker 3: But on your bigger question, and this is why my
- 8:56Speaker 3: list is not about like where it ended last year.
- 8:58Speaker 3: It's a little bit per jet to where I think
- 9:01Speaker 3: they'll be by week six or seven during the regular
- 9:03Speaker 3: season this year. One of my biggest ones ever is
- 9:07Speaker 3: one of the first ones I ever did with you, Yes,
- 9:10Speaker 3: and that was I made Patrick Mahomes twenty nine before
- 9:14Speaker 3: he ever played. And you guys gave me so much
- 9:18Speaker 3: crap and everybody to.
- 9:19Speaker 6: How good you do those You're twenty nine, He hasn't
- 9:22Speaker 6: taking a snap. You got him over other starters, and
- 9:25Speaker 6: I should have had him one or two or three,
- 9:28Speaker 6: And so the next year he was fucking one. So
- 9:31Speaker 6: that's probably the biggest jump every right, And that's where
- 9:34Speaker 6: you know, to add to those people who go, well,
- 9:36Speaker 6: how could you do that?
- 9:36Speaker 3: He hasn't proven of that. I'm here because I've been
- 9:39Speaker 3: around football my whole life, and I have a good
- 9:42Speaker 3: eye for things, and sometimes I can be right in
- 9:45Speaker 3: projecting those things or let you know where it's gonna
- 9:47Speaker 3: go in the world that way.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Yeah, that's all I was trying to tell you when
- 9:50Speaker 2: I was doing the show with you, Mikey, I was
- 9:51Speaker 2: trying to tell him project a little bit, because it's
- 9:53Speaker 2: easy to put Mahomes at number one when everyone is
- 9:55Speaker 2: putting Mahomes at number one. But if you're a year
- 9:58Speaker 2: ahead on Patrick Mahomes, oh you are the man, Sims.
- 10:01Speaker 2: That's why I was telling you, just put Schuck at
- 10:03Speaker 2: number five. Who cares?
- 10:04Speaker 3: You know? You know, I hear, I hear your logic,
- 10:08Speaker 3: and yeah, I got Mahomes number four. This year, right,
- 10:11Speaker 3: and it's a from it's really because of the knee,
- 10:14Speaker 3: and I just don't expect them to be totally himself
- 10:16Speaker 3: or the you know, the probably the first half of
- 10:18Speaker 3: the year. I still think he's gonna be awesome, you
- 10:20Speaker 3: know that, But I don't think we're gonna see you
- 10:22Speaker 3: The amount of backyard scrambles unbelievable, you know, extending plays
- 10:26Speaker 3: lasers down the field like we're a custom. So that's why.
- 10:29Speaker 3: But man, watching back his film from last year, I
- 10:33Speaker 3: was astounded, as I told you, Stu Gotts that man
- 10:37Speaker 3: there was nobody open and man that he make a
- 10:39Speaker 3: lot happen when there was nothing there to be had.
- 10:41Speaker 3: And you know, Patrick Mahomes is, you know, arguably the
- 10:44Speaker 3: greatest quarterback I've ever seen, so certainly not trying to
- 10:47Speaker 3: disrespect him at number four.
- 10:48Speaker 5: Sims two part question here Knicks are taken over New
- 10:51Speaker 5: York City. First, you'd agree I was a great guest
- 10:54Speaker 5: at your house on Draft night.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Right, I would totally agree, you're a great guy. You
- 10:58Speaker 3: were too great of a guest, right, You're too nice,
- 11:01Speaker 3: too polite, too quiet. We don't want that shit at
- 11:05Speaker 3: my house. Okay, So next time, you know, strap on
- 11:09Speaker 3: a pair and start talking and having some fun a
- 11:12Speaker 3: little bit, all right, So funny enough.
- 11:14Speaker 5: You should mention next time if you thought I was
- 11:16Speaker 5: a great guest there, you should take me to game
- 11:18Speaker 5: three and see how fun I am at Masson Square Garden.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Ah do you think me?
- 11:22Speaker 3: You?
- 11:23Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 11:23Speaker 3: First off, I'm bougie at this point in my life,
- 11:28Speaker 3: and I won't even go to a game unless I
- 11:29Speaker 3: can sit in the first three rows. And I can't
- 11:32Speaker 3: afford the first three rows at Madison Square Garden right now.
- 11:35Speaker 3: So sorry, I mean, maybe you can call Lebtard and
- 11:38Speaker 3: ask him your house on Zillow. I think you could
- 11:40Speaker 3: afford it, you know whatever. I gotta sell that damn
- 11:44Speaker 3: thing to buy a tickets. I better, I gotta do that. First.
- 11:46Speaker 2: You have Lebotard getting a ticket for Taylor. What are
- 11:49Speaker 2: you out of your mind?
- 11:51Speaker 3: Well, I just thought Leverratard might have enough cash or
- 11:53Speaker 3: he could do that.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Right, There's no doubt he has enough cash. I'm just
- 11:56Speaker 2: saying that's spending it on Taylor. I have no doubt
- 11:58Speaker 2: that you have enough cash and you're not spending it
- 12:00Speaker 2: on Taylor. And I have no doubt that I have
- 12:02Speaker 2: enough cash. And he works for me, and I ain't
- 12:04Speaker 2: spending it on Taylor, So.
- 12:05Speaker 3: I don't know. I mean the cash, I mean, I
- 12:07Speaker 3: know I have enough cash, but to have a cash
- 12:09Speaker 3: and then enjoy the rest of the month, I don't
- 12:11Speaker 3: know about that. I mean, you know, like you said,
- 12:14Speaker 3: Taylor Knicks fans are the city goes crazy and it
- 12:18Speaker 3: brings out all the hundred millionaires and billionaires. Ago, No,
- 12:22Speaker 3: I want to sit there, and those tickets are going
- 12:25Speaker 3: to be insane. I mean some of those are gonna
- 12:27Speaker 3: be twenty twenty thousand dollars tickets in the first few
- 12:29Speaker 3: rows there easily.
- 12:30Speaker 4: The only way Taylor is going to be able to
- 12:32Speaker 4: go to this game is if he becomes shoe Otani's translator.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Oh wow, wow, did I didn't know he could speak
- 12:38Speaker 3: that language? He can speak Mandarin? Is that what that is?
- 12:41Speaker 3: Mandarin or his Jepane.
- 12:44Speaker 5: I consider you like an older brother of sorts, and
- 12:47Speaker 5: it would just be like a nice gesture.
- 12:48Speaker 3: I yeah, yeah, yeah, No, I am an older brother
- 12:52Speaker 3: and I wouldn't even bring my real brother though to
- 12:55Speaker 3: that game and pay for him either. So screw yourself, all.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Right, What if your wife asked you today, hey, Chrit,
- 13:00Speaker 2: want to go to Game three.
- 13:01Speaker 1: I want to go get us a couple of tickets.
- 13:03Speaker 1: You're doing it well.
- 13:05Speaker 3: One, I'd be shocked, and no, I'd probably still not
- 13:08Speaker 3: well once I tell her, wait, like, if we get
- 13:11Speaker 3: these tickets, then you can't buy your next Burken bag. Yeah,
- 13:15Speaker 3: then she'd be like, oh, yeah, fuck that game. I
- 13:17Speaker 3: don't care about it.
- 13:17Speaker 2: You're right, Yeah, I'm just saying you'd be surprised. Everyone's
- 13:20Speaker 2: a Nick fan now. I mean, Jimmy Johnson tweeted at
- 13:22Speaker 2: a picture of him in a Josh Hart jersey with
- 13:24Speaker 2: no undershirt underneath.
- 13:26Speaker 1: I had no idea he liked the Knicks at all.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Everyone's getting wrapped up in this.
- 13:29Speaker 3: You know, they definitely are. Well. I do think it's
- 13:32Speaker 3: the most fun Nick team I've ever seen. Yes, And
- 13:35Speaker 3: there's like a there's a there's a thing that I
- 13:38Speaker 3: think even like people that don't like the Knicks, when
- 13:41Speaker 3: you watch them, they go, you go man, they play hard, man,
- 13:43Speaker 3: they're scrappy, man. They're superstar is not like the most
- 13:48Speaker 3: superstar athlete. But yet the damn ball goes in the
- 13:51Speaker 3: hole every time he shoots it in the big moment,
- 13:53Speaker 3: and that's kind of cool. And I think people like
- 13:55Speaker 3: watching that.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Have you ever gotten a rational because the team you
- 13:58Speaker 2: want to win so badly is actually winning and you
- 14:01Speaker 2: don't know what to do when you're supposed to act
- 14:03Speaker 2: like you've been there before, but we've never been there
- 14:05Speaker 2: before as Nick fans. Because at one point I turned
- 14:08Speaker 2: to my wife last night as a cocky Nick fan,
- 14:10Speaker 2: and I said, this, Webbin Yama, he's a bit overrated.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Is that too far? Am I taking it too far?
- 14:19Speaker 3: I think that's that's taken it too far. Now. I
- 14:22Speaker 3: don't think you know, you can be wrong in saying, hey,
- 14:25Speaker 3: you know, getting used to the intensity and the scrutiny
- 14:28Speaker 3: of the NBA Finals, there's a little bit of a
- 14:31Speaker 3: learning curve there, right, And then I think he realized like, oh, yeah,
- 14:34Speaker 3: I might be taller than everybody, but damn, my feet
- 14:37Speaker 3: aren't quick enough to guard you know, Karl Anthony Towns,
- 14:41Speaker 3: who just went around him like he wasn't even there
- 14:42Speaker 3: a few times. And so yeah, I think he's probably

- 16:13Speaker 2: Your thoughts you're a Miles Garrett being traded to the
- 16:17Speaker 2: La Rams. For me, I'm still shocked by it, even
- 16:20Speaker 2: more shocked that this is the guy that appears to
- 16:22Speaker 2: be able to bring emc donald out of retirement.
- 16:25Speaker 3: No, it's amazing. I mean it is amazing. I was
- 16:28Speaker 3: shocked by it, definitely. I mean for all reasons. I mean,
- 16:32Speaker 3: you know, one the Rams in the hall they gave
- 16:35Speaker 3: up right, you know, Jared Verst about to be in
- 16:38Speaker 3: the prime of his career going there. But it's Miles Garrett.
- 16:42Speaker 3: He's twenty nine years old. He's a freak of nature,
- 16:45Speaker 3: and he's obsessed with taking care of himself. Yes, you know,
- 16:48Speaker 3: I'd be shocked if he still doesn't at least have
- 16:50Speaker 3: three unreal years for him. And you know, the Rams,
- 16:55Speaker 3: and this is what I love about him and their
- 16:56Speaker 3: aggressive nature. Is this just that you know they sit
- 16:59Speaker 3: there and go, hey, we're really good. We know we're
- 17:02Speaker 3: one of the best teams. But let's up the ante
- 17:06Speaker 3: and let's just be the best team and let's see
- 17:09Speaker 3: if we can capitalize on it and wear that kind
- 17:11Speaker 3: of bullseye on our chest. And I think they welcome that.
- 17:14Speaker 3: But it's one of those moves that you know, I
- 17:16Speaker 3: know I said this to ust to God's a little yesterday,
- 17:18Speaker 3: and just that it won all the higher ups the organization,
- 17:23Speaker 3: the front office. It's gonna give that part of the
- 17:25Speaker 3: organization confidence because they're like, hey, wait, we put the
- 17:28Speaker 3: best product possible out on the football field. And then
- 17:30Speaker 3: two the players in the locker room, even though they
- 17:34Speaker 3: knew they were a super Bowl caliber team already, when
- 17:38Speaker 3: they get a guy and they go ooh wait, like
- 17:41Speaker 3: they think we win the super Bowl with this guy,
- 17:43Speaker 3: it gets everybody else in the locker room a little
- 17:45Speaker 3: jolt too, like, oh all right, the ownership, everybody they
- 17:49Speaker 3: think we're super Bowl and they think now that if
- 17:51Speaker 3: we get that guy, we're going to the super Bowl
- 17:52Speaker 3: and we're gonna prove that right. And I just think
- 17:54Speaker 3: it's cool, especially in a year in LA where they've
- 17:57Speaker 3: won the Super Bowl before in LA and now it's
- 18:00Speaker 3: back and they're gonna try to put the full court
- 18:02Speaker 3: press on to go defend their territory one more time.
- 18:05Speaker 3: It is amazing, and that NFC West is amazing. Of
- 18:08Speaker 3: course they're dealing with the Seattle Seahawks, who are still
- 18:10Speaker 3: damn good sims.
- 18:11Speaker 5: How big of an upgrade is AJ Brown, and I
- 18:13Speaker 5: guess Romeo Dobbs too, to an extension in New England
- 18:17Speaker 5: over Stefan Diggs, who seemed like, I know some of
- 18:20Speaker 5: the games were weather conditioned, but to not even eclipse
- 18:23Speaker 5: one hundred and fifty yards in the entire postseason. How
- 18:26Speaker 5: big of an upgrade is that for New England?
- 18:29Speaker 3: Well, yeah, I mean it's there's no doubt it's an upgrade.
- 18:31Speaker 3: I mean, Stephan Diggs is still really damn good, right
- 18:36Speaker 3: and and had big games for them down the stretch.
- 18:38Speaker 3: He did, Yeah, it definitely did. But he's not necessarily
- 18:41Speaker 3: the type of guy that you just go, hey, line
- 18:43Speaker 3: up over here and just beat guys all day long,
- 18:46Speaker 3: man demand, and hey, you'll run guy by guys for
- 18:49Speaker 3: fifty yard bombs like it's nothing. No, that's where AJ
- 18:53Speaker 3: Brown separates himself from Stephan Diggs. Stephan Diggs, he's perfect
- 18:57Speaker 3: for Josh McDaniels, you know, because he's yes, he can
- 19:00Speaker 3: be outside, but he's an unbelievable slot route runner and
- 19:04Speaker 3: they could work that part of the offense for him.
- 19:07Speaker 3: AJ Brown gives you a guy where you go, wait,
- 19:09Speaker 3: you line up out there, let's see what they do
- 19:11Speaker 3: to defend you, and if they play you a man
- 19:13Speaker 3: to man, we're just gonna come to you, So be ready, right,
- 19:16Speaker 3: And if they doub you and do all that man perfect,
- 19:18Speaker 3: it's gonna open up all this other stuff over here.
- 19:21Speaker 3: And that's what's gonna be the beauty of AJ Brown there.
- 19:23Speaker 3: And then of course AJ Brown unlike anything they really
- 19:26Speaker 3: had last year, Traveon Henderson was their only guy that
- 19:29Speaker 3: you go, he could score from any time, anywhere. AJ
- 19:31Speaker 3: Brown could catch a six yard slant and run up
- 19:33Speaker 3: the middle for a fifty yard touchdown. And so that
- 19:36Speaker 3: you know, is going to take pressure off their offense.
- 19:38Speaker 3: So yeah, I think this is certainly an upgrade. And
- 19:42Speaker 3: now to have Romeo Dobbs as your number two on
- 19:44Speaker 3: top of that, Yes, that's what's gonna be different about
- 19:48Speaker 3: this opening game of the NFL season is go. Yeah,
- 19:51Speaker 3: we know the Seahawks dominated the super Bowl, but this
- 19:53Speaker 3: ain't the same Patriot team. And with those two receivers,
- 19:56Speaker 3: it does change the dynamic of the matchup there.
- 19:58Speaker 2: I can tell you're starting to like Mendoza more and more.
- 20:01Speaker 2: What are you seeing? What are you liking about Mendoza
- 20:03Speaker 2: as we move forward here?
- 20:05Speaker 3: Well, I just Mendoza to me, is just made for
- 20:07Speaker 3: the NFL. Right, there's no physical limitations. He can do everything.
- 20:13Speaker 3: He runs better than people realize. I just know he's
- 20:16Speaker 3: the ultimate Jim Ratt psycho. Wants to be great, wants
- 20:19Speaker 3: to be every over all over every detail of the offense.
- 20:23Speaker 3: So within that, I just go, Yeah, he's in a
- 20:26Speaker 3: perfect offense that I think suits his skill set. And
- 20:29Speaker 3: then I just don't think he's gonna have, you know,
- 20:33Speaker 3: the adjustment we see a lot of rookies have with
- 20:35Speaker 3: the mental part of the game. And then really as
- 20:37Speaker 3: a thrower, he's a slam dunk thrower. There's just there's
- 20:40Speaker 3: no throw he can't make at a high level with
- 20:43Speaker 3: incredible precision and accuracy. And that's what I get excited
- 20:46Speaker 3: about with Mendoza.
- 20:48Speaker 4: Sim switching over to college for a second, Your boy
- 20:51Speaker 4: Sark is talking a lot, man, Dad. He sounds like
- 20:53Speaker 4: he's got sounds like he's got big plans for this
- 20:56Speaker 4: Longhorns team.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Oh yeah, definitely. I mean, I think they're expecting a
- 21:00Speaker 3: big year there. And I know, I don't even know
- 21:02Speaker 3: if I know the total totality of everything he said.
- 21:07Speaker 3: I've seen, you know, some of it, and then other stuff.
- 21:10Speaker 3: I've just seen headlines and I'm going, oh, man Stark
- 21:12Speaker 3: said something else. But you know, I'm not totally rooted
- 21:14Speaker 3: into college football quite the same way as NFL. But yeah, no,
- 21:18Speaker 3: you got Arch Manning as your quarterback the way he
- 21:21Speaker 3: ended the year, right, they got some players on that
- 21:24Speaker 3: football team, we know, so where. Yeah, they're expecting national championship.
- 21:28Speaker 3: And I did have fun. You know again at Texas,
- 21:31Speaker 3: we do have to go to school there, and you know,
- 21:33Speaker 3: it is a good school, and I think he was
- 21:36Speaker 3: just trying to make a little light of going, you know,
- 21:38Speaker 3: some of these other schools that they compete against. It's
- 21:40Speaker 3: just like, wait, do you have a pulse? Oh yeah,
- 21:43Speaker 3: then you can get in the school. Okay, yep, what
- 21:44Speaker 3: were your scores and your grades? Oh they weren't, but
- 21:46Speaker 3: you can breathe right, Okay, You're in the school, no problem.
- 21:49Speaker 3: And Texas is not quite like that. And I think
- 21:52Speaker 3: he was throwing a little shade at some of those
- 21:53Speaker 3: other schools for that.
- 21:54Speaker 1: That's a coach talking like he has a Manning at quarterback.
- 21:57Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, yes, exactly, yeah, And the backing them
- 22:00Speaker 3: is alumni and a ton of awesome players down his
- 22:03Speaker 3: team to go, hey, make me look smart here and
- 22:05Speaker 3: shut everybody up.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Yes, Mikey Simms is taking his quarterback list to a
- 22:09Speaker 2: whole new level. He is now doing top ten quarterbacks
- 22:12Speaker 2: in their prime, just their prime years. He's doing a
- 22:15Speaker 2: list I told him to a top ten quarterback list
- 22:18Speaker 2: of quarterbacks past their prime, and Brady would still be
- 22:21Speaker 2: number one on that list.
- 22:21Speaker 1: How about that? Yeah?
- 22:23Speaker 3: Yeah, yo, yeah he would. He probably would be on
- 22:26Speaker 3: that list. But I felt like I did two different
- 22:28Speaker 3: lists top ten quarterbacks of all time with a more
- 22:31Speaker 3: of a career all together, right, And like you said,
- 22:36Speaker 3: Brady's number one. There. Brady's the consistency of the high
- 22:40Speaker 3: level that he played at for such a long time
- 22:43Speaker 3: is unmatched. And of course the Super Bowls and the
- 22:46Speaker 3: Super Bowl MVPs and all of that, we know that.
- 22:49Speaker 3: But that doesn't mean in their prime I would take
- 22:51Speaker 3: Tom Brady over other guys. Absolutely not. You know you've
- 22:54Speaker 3: heard me say yes, no, definitely not. So that's where
- 22:59Speaker 3: I think you have to have that conversation a little
- 23:01Speaker 3: bit to be fair to talk about that. You know,
- 23:04Speaker 3: not everybody got to endure like Tom Brady, the greatest
- 23:08Speaker 3: pass protection you've ever seen in the first eight years
- 23:11Speaker 3: of his career, which is not just me. Those are
- 23:13Speaker 3: the analytics, those are the numbers. They would tell you that.
- 23:16Speaker 3: And so yeah, there's other guys that got beat the shit.
- 23:19Speaker 3: So then when the yere and ten came around, they
- 23:21Speaker 3: were like, man, he's falling off a little bit. Yeah,
- 23:24Speaker 3: well he didn't have Brady's you know, pass protection. The
- 23:27Speaker 3: other thing too, and the analytics sites all. I'll tell
- 23:29Speaker 3: you this too. Nobody had more open receivers from fifteen
- 23:33Speaker 3: to twenty five yards down the field in their career
- 23:35Speaker 3: than Tom Brady. Right, and Tom Brady's not running the
- 23:38Speaker 3: routes too.
- 23:39Speaker 4: I know.
- 23:39Speaker 3: We like to give the quarterback credit for everything. Right. Oh,
- 23:41Speaker 3: he looked at him and he drank the gatorade and said,
- 23:44Speaker 3: run it like this, And I knew I had to
- 23:46Speaker 3: run a special route, like we make up these special
- 23:48Speaker 3: stupid fucking powers they think quarterbacks have. No, the coach
- 23:52Speaker 3: made those plays. They said, hey, he's gonna run this
- 23:54Speaker 3: play against this coverage. Throw it. And he threw it,
- 23:57Speaker 3: and we go like act like it's some like magical,
- 24:00Speaker 3: like unbelievable potion he took. So yeah, that's what I
- 24:03Speaker 3: tried to take into account there in their prime, there's
- 24:06Speaker 3: definitely guys that I would take over Tom Brady. And
- 24:08Speaker 3: that's where I think it's a good conversation that maybe
- 24:11Speaker 3: we can combine the list and come up with some
- 24:13Speaker 3: formula to what actually is the greatest quarterback of all time?
- 24:17Speaker 4: How much weight are you putting on super Bowl wins?
- 24:19Speaker 3: Like not a ton, like a little bit cares about
- 24:26Speaker 3: care about I mean, not in their prime? You know
- 24:29Speaker 3: that that that's not fair. Again, super Bowl's team related,
- 24:32Speaker 3: and you know, and what I said is I was
- 24:33Speaker 3: doing the exercise. I just you know, you know Dan
- 24:37Speaker 3: Marino then just I don't want to ever hear him
- 24:39Speaker 3: at the top of the quarterback all time. You just
- 24:41Speaker 3: he never won a super Bowl. Sorry, well that's just stupid, ship,
- 24:44Speaker 3: that's stupid. If you put Dan Marino on my dad's
- 24:47Speaker 3: Phil Simms New York Giants team, get this, just in
- 24:51Speaker 3: they would have won a fucking super Bowl too, right,
- 24:53Speaker 3: So that that's where we can't just say that. Then
- 24:56Speaker 3: if we're gonna say that, well, you know, Trent Dilford
- 24:59Speaker 3: is better than Dan. Oh okay, all right, good luck
- 25:02Speaker 3: with that. To have fun defending that, and so you
- 25:06Speaker 3: can't well you can't always make it about that winning
- 25:08Speaker 3: the Super Bowl is somewhat team related. We know that, Sims.
- 25:12Speaker 5: If we could do a home and home I'm working
- 25:14Speaker 5: on a top ten list. It's top ten quarterbacks who
- 25:16Speaker 5: were labeled bust but could have been great, but we're
- 25:19Speaker 5: in a bad situation like that. Joey Harrington and David Carr.
- 25:22Speaker 2: So Fell, Yes, that's a great Listens, you should think
- 25:25Speaker 2: about that.
- 25:25Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, it's actually not a bad idea. Yeah, I
- 25:29Speaker 3: hear you. With the those are definitely good ones. David Carr,
- 25:33Speaker 3: I certainly look at. I don't know if I feel
- 25:35Speaker 3: quite as strongly about the Joey Harrington thing, but the
- 25:39Speaker 3: David Carr, I could think about that. Tbisky? Who's that
- 25:43Speaker 3: Mitch Trubisky.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Zach Wilson, I don't think.
- 25:45Speaker 3: I don't think so. I don't know if I would
- 25:47Speaker 3: even put them there. I feel like we probably could
- 25:49Speaker 3: come up with better ones throughout time to go. No,
- 25:53Speaker 3: this guy was better, and you know, just was around
- 25:56Speaker 3: some crap teams and some crap situations. But it's not
- 25:59Speaker 3: a bad idea, yea. I had to think about that
- 26:00Speaker 3: one a little bit. Yes, Patrick Ramsey, that's another last
- 26:05Speaker 3: from the past name right there. Look at that, Yeah, Sims,
- 26:08Speaker 3: I like it.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Sim's what I like about this idea. It allows you
- 26:11Speaker 2: to further explain just how important it is for these
- 26:13Speaker 2: quarterbacks to land in the right spot with the right coaches.
- 26:16Speaker 1: So I think this is a great idea.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Actually yeah, well no, that's what I know, and it
- 26:20Speaker 3: furthers my point. It is my point of like, you know, again,
- 26:25Speaker 3: three years ago, I'm Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield. They
- 26:28Speaker 3: suck o me. They're bust. Now I got people tweeting
- 26:31Speaker 3: it and go, is that the best quarterback class of
- 26:33Speaker 3: all time? When they got drafted? Right, So it's like again,
- 26:37Speaker 3: it's it can't be that far apart. And then then
- 26:40Speaker 3: that's where, Yeah, the team, the support, and how you
- 26:43Speaker 3: get coached early on in your career is a big deal.
- 26:48Speaker 3: And that's where again Brady in his prime will not
- 26:52Speaker 3: be the goat. He will not be number one. I
- 26:54Speaker 3: mean Brady for a good part of his early part
- 26:56Speaker 3: of his career, they were just like, hey, go eighteen
- 26:59Speaker 3: for twenty for two hundred and five yards and one touchdown,
- 27:04Speaker 3: and we'll run the ball and Belichick will come up
- 27:06Speaker 3: with an unbelievable defensive game plan and we'll win the game.
- 27:09Speaker 3: And not everybody got afforded those luxuries like Tom Brady,
- 27:13Speaker 3: And that's you know, we got to remember that when
- 27:14Speaker 3: we balance this conversation out.
- 27:16Speaker 2: So Taylor has a patent on that list, on that idea,
- 27:19Speaker 2: and so he's willing to give it to you. You
- 27:21Speaker 2: can use it for as long as you want. He
- 27:23Speaker 2: just wants a ticket to the next game, game three
- 27:25Speaker 2: or four, it doesn't matter. Can we negotiate it you here?
- 27:28Speaker 3: Yeah, don't you have other friends. Don't you have somebody
- 27:31Speaker 3: else that's richer than me that you can ask find
- 27:33Speaker 3: somebody else. No, he does it, and I'm out of
- 27:36Speaker 3: my life limit of people telling me to make a
- 27:38Speaker 3: fucking list about something else, So that just I'm not
- 27:41Speaker 3: doing anything.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Sorry, but this is a good one. This is a
- 27:43Speaker 1: good idea though. You can have it.
- 27:46Speaker 3: Just go.
- 27:46Speaker 1: You're a nice friend, that's all it.
- 27:47Speaker 3: All right, thanks a lot, alright, all right?

- 28:15Speaker 1: I love the guy I do.
- 28:17Speaker 3: I love that, I know, I know he is the best.
- 28:19Speaker 2: And you know what, he should be able to cry
- 28:21Speaker 2: without any sort of criticism.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Why not.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm with you. We all know we should.
