- 0:15Um,
- 0:15my official,
- 0:16uh,
- 0:16kind of like Senate gut check today.
- 0:19We're going to look at it,
- 0:20at the Senate,
- 0:21at every single race,
- 0:22and put it in a column to try to see where we think it stands today.
- 0:27We'll be updating this throughout.
- 0:28The election season,
- 0:29but it's a great tool and a great idea
- 0:31to just be able to
- 0:33kind of get your mindset
- 0:34in the right place
- 0:35if you're looking at this for control of the Senate or if you're looking at it for
- 0:38prediction market profits.
- 0:40It's something you should do regardless.
- 0:42I'd love to hear your feedback on mine coming up.
- 0:44We have Dan Andros.

- 1:12We're gonna get you my Senate gut check here in just a couple of seconds.
- 1:15Couple of things to just remind you about before we do it.
- 1:18Uh,
- 1:18there is an update,
- 1:19uh,
- 1:19for the PMC,
- 1:21the predictable
- 1:22midterm consensus.
- 1:24That's our election model.
- 1:25We take all the data,
- 1:26none of my opinion on this one.
- 1:28All the data,
- 1:29uh,
- 1:29from all the experts,
- 1:30all the polling averages,
- 1:32uh,
- 1:32fundamentals,
- 1:33fundraising,
- 1:34all those things,
- 1:35everything basically except for
- 1:37my opinion
- 1:38and prediction markets.
- 1:39And we take all that data and we put it in one place
- 1:41for you so you can get a good sense of the numbers,
- 1:43you can get the house and the.
- 1:44Senate for free.
- 1:45Anyone can go there at predictableshow.com and then
- 1:48behind the paywall we have every single Senate race
- 1:50if you wanna look at those.
- 1:51And another thing that we do because we're a prediction market show
- 1:54is we give you the gaps between what the experts are saying,
- 1:57what the,
- 1:57the actual data is saying,
- 1:59and what the markets believe.
- 2:01And oftentimes there is,
- 2:03in fact,
- 2:03there's a brand new state,
- 2:04uh,
- 2:04today.
- 2:05That came into the biggest
- 2:07gap between the market sentiment
- 2:09and what the experts are saying,
- 2:11and we're talking about a double digit gap,
- 2:13so there's gotta be an opportunity there somewhere,
- 2:15uh,
- 2:15you can find it
- 2:16predictableshow.com.
- 2:18Also there tomorrow will be Stu's picks updated.
- 2:21We do this every Friday.
- 2:23It is basically,
- 2:24uh,
- 2:25every single
- 2:26prediction market position that I hold in my portfolio,
- 2:30we put them all out there
- 2:31for everybody to see,
- 2:33well,
- 2:33at least the premium subscribers to see,
- 2:35uh,
- 2:35and,
- 2:36uh,
- 2:36because they're nicer,
- 2:37they don't make fun of me as much.
- 2:38No,
- 2:39they're,
- 2:39they're,
- 2:39they can be mean too.
- 2:40Uh,
- 2:41we put them out there
- 2:42and we want everyone to be able to see every single thing that I have.
- 2:45So if you're looking in,
- 2:46it's not just elections,
- 2:47it's culture,
- 2:48it's sports,

- 3:38any comments,
- 3:39anything you're thinking about,
- 3:40uh,
- 3:40anything in the markets that you,
- 3:42you find is kind of weird and you wanna give it to me,
- 3:45questions
- 3:45at predictableshow.com.
- 3:47OK,
- 3:48enough house cleaning.
- 3:49It is time to get into election time.
- 3:50We are 47 days away
- 3:53from the election right now,
- 3:55and that might seem like still a far
- 3:57long distance,
- 3:59but I got news for you.
- 4:00This is,
- 4:01this is,
- 4:02I'm going to say this and you're going to say,
- 4:03what?
- 4:04No,
- 4:04that can't be true.
- 4:05It is true.
- 4:06Early voting starts.
- 4:08Tomorrow
- 4:10Tomorrow,
- 4:11yes,
- 4:12early voting starts tomorrow,
- 4:14or as,
- 4:15as we've eloquently put it on this graphic,
- 4:16one day
- 4:18until the first round
- 4:19of early voting.
- 4:20Um,
- 4:21look,
- 4:22tomorrow,
- 4:23like literally tomorrow,
- 4:24it's happening September 18th,
- 4:26Minnesota,
- 4:27South Dakota,
- 4:27and Virginia
- 4:28kicks us all off,
- 4:29and then Vermont happens on Saturday,
- 4:31and then we get into a bunch of other states
- 4:33after that.
- 4:34So,
- 4:34what does the Senate actually look like?
- 4:36Let's get into it because this is kind of,
- 4:38I think,
- 4:38the main attraction,
- 4:39isn't it?
- 4:40Looking at the Senate,
- 4:41who's going to control the Senate,
- 4:42it's crucial.
- 4:43I mean,
- 4:44uh,
- 4:44you know,
- 4:44the Supreme Court
- 4:45is the biggest highlight when you think about that.
- 4:48The House is obviously vitally important as well.
- 4:51It feels to,
- 4:52I think,
- 4:52a lot of people,
- 4:53including me,
- 4:53that the Democrats are probably going to win the House.
- 4:55I would be surprised if the Republicans
- 4:57can win.
- 4:58It's not impossible,
- 4:59but I would be surprised.
- 5:00Uh,
- 5:01Republicans are now
- 5:02reeling on the midterm map as deep red areas are coming into play.
- 5:06The party is
- 5:07putting up a costly defense of states
- 5:09and districts
- 5:10that President Trump won easily in 2024
- 5:13and in places like Georgia,
- 5:14strategists wonder if it's too late.
- 5:16That's the headline from The New York Times,
- 5:17and that is,
- 5:18I would say,
- 5:19the not just the,
- 5:21the,
- 5:21the,
- 5:21the vibe of the times.
- 5:23The vibe also of the data
- 5:26that goes into the prediction,
- 5:27uh,
- 5:27predictable market,
- 5:28um,
- 5:29predictable midterm consensus.
- 5:30I say market consensus every time in my head.
- 5:32Predictable midterm
- 5:33consensus,
- 5:34the PMC,
- 5:35I should just say that.
- 5:36Uh,
- 5:36that's up at predictableShow.com.
- 5:38And it's also the,
- 5:39uh,
- 5:39the vibe of the markets,
- 5:40right?
- 5:41This is what people think is going to happen.
- 5:43That doesn't mean it's a foregone conclusion.
- 5:45And there's plenty of races that are highly,
- 5:47highly competitive,
- 5:48but this is difficult turf,
- 5:50uh,
- 5:50for Republicans and conservatives.
- 5:52So,
- 5:53let me look at all the races and we'll show you where we stand and,
- 5:55and why this looks this way,
- 5:57because what you're seeing now is movement toward.
- 6:00The Democrats in the Senate,
- 6:01these races,
- 6:02as the Times said,
- 6:04some of these red races getting into play.
- 6:06And so I decided to do a gut check.
- 6:09I've been doing this for
- 6:10years and years and years and years
- 6:11on Studos America.
- 6:12We did it,
- 6:13I think,
- 6:13every single year on Studos America whenever there was an election,
- 6:16um,
- 6:17going on.
- 6:18Uh,
- 6:18we did it on the Glenn Beck program as well.
- 6:21Um,
- 6:21and what we'll do is we put up all these board,
- 6:24we have a bunch of columns on the board,
- 6:25um,
- 6:26solid.
- 6:27Let's show the,
- 6:27let's show the original board here.
- 6:28This is what it looks like.
- 6:29Uh,
- 6:30you have,
- 6:30uh,
- 6:31Democrats and Republicans,
- 6:32and then you have a
- 6:33column for solid Democrat seats,
- 6:35likely Democrat seats,
- 6:36and lean Democrat seats,
- 6:38uh,
- 6:38a little in the middle for toss-ups.
- 6:40I try to keep as many out of the toss-up category as possible.
- 6:43Then you have lean Republican,
- 6:44likely Republican,
- 6:45solid Republican.
- 6:46We'll try to solid Republican,
- 6:47you know,
- 6:47look.
- 6:48I,
- 6:48I don't think I've ever missed a state that I put in the solid column.
- 6:52Uh,
- 6:52now,
- 6:52sometimes they move out of there,
- 6:53but when they're in the solid column at the end,
- 6:55I'm,
- 6:55you just never basically miss.
- 6:57I don't remember missing a likely either.
- 6:59It's possible.
- 7:00The lean states are kind of in that,
- 7:02uh,
- 7:02area where you can get a.
- 7:04Uh,
- 7:04and of course toss-ups could go
- 7:06basically either way by definition.
- 7:08So one of the differences between the House and the Senate,
- 7:10and the reason why the House is so much more on vibes
- 7:12is because there is a starting
- 7:14score.
- 7:15There's a score on the scoreboard before we even begin.
- 7:19And,
- 7:19uh,
- 7:20when that happens,
- 7:21it's all about how the map sets up for each side,
- 7:24so.
- 7:25The Senate,
- 7:25because of these six-year terms,
- 7:27has a bunch of seats that are locked.
- 7:29They are seats that can't
- 7:31change because the people are already in office
- 7:33and they're not up for election here.
- 7:34So we have a starting score before we even begin.
- 7:37And let's show you what that looks like.
- 7:38Here's what the board looks like.
- 7:39Uh,
- 7:4034 locked Democratic seats.
- 7:42The lowest the Democrats could possibly have,
- 7:45even if they lost every single election in November,
- 7:47is 34,
- 7:4834 Democratic seats.
- 7:50Republicans have a number here as well.
- 7:52Uh,
- 7:52they have,
- 7:53uh,
- 7:5431.
- 7:55So it's 34,
- 7:5631 to start.
- 7:57Democrats with a slight lead,
- 7:59uh,
- 8:00before we get going.
- 8:01But there are of course a lot of states out there
- 8:04to deal with.
- 8:05I believe there's 35
- 8:06total states,
- 8:07let's go through,
- 8:08let's say
- 8:09all of them.
- 8:10We start with the column here,
- 8:11solid Democrat.
- 8:13A bunch of states there,
- 8:14in fact,
- 8:149 of them,
- 8:159
- 8:16solid Democratic seats.
- 8:17All of these would be
- 8:18very,
- 8:18very surprising if they went
- 8:20the opposite way.
- 8:21We've got Colorado,
- 8:22which is John Hickenlooper,
- 8:24uh,
- 8:24he's heavily favored there.
- 8:26That was a state that,
- 8:27you know,
- 8:27used to kind of come up as a little bit purple,
- 8:29but really is now leaning blue.
- 8:31Delaware,
- 8:32uh,
- 8:32Chris Coons,
- 8:33he's the guy that eventually,
- 8:34uh,
- 8:34initially,
- 8:35um,
- 8:36replaced Joe Biden when he went to become vice president.
- 8:38Gonna have no problem there.
- 8:40Illinois,
- 8:40obviously very blue state as well.
- 8:42Stratton will win there,
- 8:43uh,
- 8:43almost certainly.
- 8:45Uh,
- 8:45in Massachusetts,
- 8:46uh,
- 8:46Markey
- 8:47is the heavy,
- 8:47heavy,
- 8:48heavy favorite after just winning his primary,
- 8:50uh,
- 8:51not that long ago.
- 8:52Uh,
- 8:52Cory Booker,
- 8:53still a senator,
- 8:55still winning easily in New Jersey.
- 8:57There does not seem to be any reason to believe that will change here,
- 9:00even though we have seen
- 9:02some races in New Jersey recently,
- 9:04statewide races,
- 9:04be close.
- 9:05This is not the environment where Republicans are likely to win in New Jersey,
- 9:09even if it wasn't Cory Booker.
- 9:11Um,
- 9:11New Jersey,
- 9:12and this is similar
- 9:13in
- 9:15Republican states as well.
- 9:16A lot of times what you'll see is more,
- 9:18a more partisan vote.
- 9:20In the Senate
- 9:21with the Senate candidate
- 9:23than you will see with the gubernatorial candidate.
- 9:26Governors,
- 9:27that's kind of your place for the upset in a,
- 9:29in a bright blue state or a bright red state.
- 9:32You can get in there,
- 9:32you get your candidate,
- 9:33you get a good candidate,
- 9:34you get a weak governor at home.
- 9:36There's at least a chance for you to take out somebody from the opposite party.
- 9:39Senators,
- 9:39a lot harder.
- 9:40It's really,
- 9:41really partisan,
- 9:42uh,
- 9:42really,
- 9:43really,
- 9:43uh,
- 9:43polarized,
- 9:44and because of the impact of those people
- 9:47on the national stage.
- 9:49People tend to vote more,
- 9:51uh,
- 9:51with their parties and don't really leave their states nearly as often.
- 9:54Uh,
- 9:55so that's that first row.
- 9:56Next row,
- 9:56New Mexico,
- 9:57kind of the same thing,
- 9:58uh,
- 9:58you know,
- 9:58New Mexico was a state if you go back to,
- 10:01I think it was the 2000 election.
- 10:02I could be wrong on this,
- 10:04it's either
- 10:04the second closest or the closest state.
- 10:06You might say,
- 10:06well,
- 10:06closest state was,
- 10:08uh,
- 10:08of course,
- 10:08Florida.
- 10:09Well,
- 10:10actually,
- 10:11and I can't remember exactly.
- 10:12I know percentage wise the closest state was Florida,
- 10:15but when it came to actual raw votes,
- 10:16New Mexico was really,
- 10:17really close.
- 10:18I'd have to look this back up,
- 10:19but I feel like maybe New Mexico was even
- 10:20closer when it came to actual number of votes,
- 10:23uh,
- 10:23even though the other one was like 500,
- 10:25it was very,
- 10:25very close,
- 10:25I think.
- 10:26It was 2000 that year.
- 10:27Uh,
- 10:27Oregon is in this race at all as well with,
- 10:30uh,
- 10:30uh,
- 10:31Merkley.
- 10:32Uh,
- 10:32you've got Rhode Island and Reed and Virginia and Warner,
- 10:36kind of classic senators that always seem to win
- 10:38in very blue states with the exception of Virginia,
- 10:40which you'd think would be more competitive but just isn't.
- 10:43Uh,
- 10:44it does not seem to be,
- 10:45uh,
- 10:45Republicans aren't really even
- 10:47putting money into that state.
- 10:48So that's solid 9 that gets you to about,
- 10:50you know,
- 10:5043 Democrats
- 10:52that you pretty much can consider
- 10:54locked too close to locked,
- 10:56OK.
- 10:56Uh,
- 10:56solid
- 10:57Democrats,
- 10:579 seats.
- 10:58Now let's go to the Republican side on the solid,
- 11:01uh,
- 11:01column,
- 11:02and this is,
- 11:02uh,
- 11:0313
- 11:05solid Republican
- 11:06seats.
- 11:07Uh,
- 11:08let's go through them here because this makes it a pretty close Senate race.
- 11:11If you're just looking at locked and solids here,
- 11:14you're gonna be at 44,
- 11:1543,
- 11:16right?
- 11:16So we're,
- 11:17we're at a very,
- 11:17very even race,
- 11:18but the Republicans do make up
- 11:19that little bit of a,
- 11:20a deficit that they had
- 11:22as we started.
- 11:23Um,
- 11:23we'll start with,
- 11:24uh,
- 11:24Alabama and more expected to win there.
- 11:27Arkansas Cotton,
- 11:28I talked to him as one of the candidates of the day.
- 11:30There is some polling that shows that close.
- 11:32Uh,
- 11:32if,
- 11:33if that was to continually be repeated by
- 11:36Polls that were not coming out of the campaign,
- 11:38I might move that one
- 11:39to likely.
- 11:40That's vulnerable potentially to move to likely,
- 11:42but I do still think
- 11:43Cotton will win there.
- 11:44Florida,
- 11:45of course,
- 11:45is Ashley Moody.
- 11:46I think she will win there again.
- 11:48Florida used to be that kind of quintessential swing state,
- 11:51really not anymore,
- 11:53especially in the Senate.
- 11:54I don't expect that to happen.
- 11:56Idaho,
- 11:56uh,
- 11:56Risch will be fine there,
- 11:58uh,
- 11:59bar in Kentucky,
- 12:00uh,
- 12:00Letlow in,
- 12:01uh,
- 12:02in,
- 12:02uh,
- 12:03Louisiana,
- 12:04Mississippi is Hyde Smith.
- 12:05There's some,
- 12:05again,
- 12:06another,
- 12:06that's one of my,
- 12:07I actually saw that's one of my bigger positions that I have
- 12:10is in that Mississippi race,
- 12:12uh,
- 12:12because there's a little bit more value than I would expect.
- 12:15Um,
- 12:15one of the reasons why we look at these races,
- 12:17you might say,
- 12:17well,
- 12:17who cares?
- 12:18Why are you spending time on the solid races?
- 12:20Well,
- 12:20if you can find
- 12:21Someone who,
- 12:23when I say solid,
- 12:23I,
- 12:24I,
- 12:24you know,
- 12:24most of these races I feel like are 95% plus,
- 12:27right?
- 12:27Many of them 99% plus that that's gonna go to one side or the other.
- 12:31If I can find
- 12:32a buy
- 12:33on a position like that
- 12:35when,
- 12:36uh,
- 12:36when,
- 12:37you know,
- 12:37around 89 or 90.
- 12:40That's good eating,
- 12:41right?
- 12:41Like that is,
- 12:42you're talking about a 10% profit over 47 days.
- 12:46That's great.
- 12:47It seems fantastic.
- 12:48Sign me up.
- 12:49Where do I,
- 12:49where do I get involved?
- 12:50Uh,
- 12:50you get involved on prediction markets and those
- 12:52opportunities aren't available with a lot of different,
- 12:55uh,
- 12:55investments.
- 12:56Uh,
- 12:56Montana is an interesting one.
- 12:57There's 3,
- 12:58candidates in this race.
- 13:00Uh,
- 13:00Almay is the favorite as the Republican.
- 13:03Um,
- 13:03you,
- 13:04you never know with a three-person race how that breaks.
- 13:07There's a little bit of uncertainty there.
- 13:09There are some polls showing it less than double digits there.
- 13:13Again,
- 13:14a catastrophic year for Republicans.
- 13:17You could see Montana
- 13:19move in columns in the coming weeks and,
- 13:21and potentially be vulnerable.
- 13:22Uh,
- 13:22Oklahoma should be uh
- 13:24pretty easy.
- 13:25South Dakota is uh rounds,
- 13:27uh,
- 13:27again,
- 13:27that's another one.
- 13:28I,
- 13:28you know,
- 13:28I've been able to find some shares in the low 90s,
- 13:31uh,
- 13:32surprisingly.
- 13:33Uh,
- 13:33but I'm pretty confident in that.
- 13:35Hageman,
- 13:36you can't find really any shares in the low 90s with her.
- 13:38She's a heavy,
- 13:39heavy favorite and what you could argue is the reddest state in the union.
- 13:42Uh,
- 13:42Tennessee
- 13:43is,
- 13:44uh,
- 13:44Haggerty and,
- 13:45uh,
- 13:45Shelley Moore Capito in West Virginia should be
- 13:48cruising as well.
- 13:50There we are in our first kind of,
- 13:52uh,
- 13:53set up
- 13:53with,
- 13:54uh,
- 13:54the solids
- 13:55and the,
- 13:56uh,
- 13:57uh,
- 13:58uh,
- 13:58locked votes.
- 14:00Right now we're at the 4443.
- 14:02I wanna take a break,
- 14:02come back on the other side.
- 14:03We will do the,
- 14:04uh,
- 14:05likelies,
- 14:05the leaners,
- 14:06and the toss-ups,
- 14:07give you a kind of a final
- 14:08Senate board
- 14:09as to where we stand right now,
- 14:11and we have a candidate of the day as well
- 14:14coming up on this program that happens to be
- 14:16on this board somewhere.
- 14:17Yeah,
- 14:18yeah,
- 14:18I'm gonna give you one,
- 14:19and I'm gonna give you one that might be able to triple your money.
- 14:22So it's a pretty good opportunity
- 14:23if you believe in it.
- 14:24We'll go through it here in just a little bit.
- 14:26It's predictableShow.com and of course,
- 14:29join us on podcast as well,
- 14:31wherever you get your podcasts.
- 14:32At predictable show.
- 14:51Welcome back to Predictable with Stu.
- 14:53Uh,
- 14:54by the way,
- 14:54uh,
- 14:55NFL Thursday Night Football tonight,
- 14:57uh,
- 14:57Lions and Bills.
- 14:58I mean,
- 14:59that might be the,
- 15:00it could arguably be the most exciting game of the year,
- 15:02and it's on Thursday Night Football in week two.
- 15:04It's a really weird scheduling quirk,
- 15:05so I'm excited about that.
- 15:07But this is the real contest,
- 15:09right?
- 15:09This is the real one.
- 15:10The Senate is at stake and we are going through it.
- 15:14Uh,
- 15:14race by race by race.
- 15:15We got through,
- 15:16you know,
- 15:16the setup.
- 15:16I wanted to make sure you understood what we were doing,
- 15:18and we got through kind of the boring races,
- 15:20frankly,
- 15:21in the first segment.
- 15:22Uh,
- 15:22all the,
- 15:22uh,
- 15:23the likelies and,
- 15:24uh,
- 15:25uh,
- 15:25likelies leaners and,
- 15:26uh,
- 15:26toss-ups are to come.
- 15:27Let's start
- 15:28with the likely Democratic seats.
- 15:31We've got
- 15:323 of them.
- 15:33Yes,
- 15:333 of them here,
- 15:35Minnesota,
- 15:36Georgia,
- 15:36and North Carolina.
- 15:37Let's go through these.
- 15:38Now,
- 15:39Minnesota is interesting because
- 15:41There's recent polling showing
- 15:43Michelle Tafoya,
- 15:44who's the Republican candidate in this race,
- 15:46uh,
- 15:46performing pretty well,
- 15:47uh,
- 15:47in this one,
- 15:48and,
- 15:48uh,
- 15:49challenging,
- 15:50uh,
- 15:50uh,
- 15:51Peggy Fleming,
- 15:52who is the lieutenant governor now,
- 15:54won the primary.
- 15:55She's pretty liberal.
- 15:56I mean,
- 15:56she's
- 15:57not
- 15:57quite like she's not officially a democratic socialist,
- 16:00but she basically is.
- 16:01She won a tight primary in,
- 16:03in one of those,
- 16:04you know.
- 16:05The typical dynamic we discussed throughout the primary season,
- 16:08right?
- 16:08Democratic socialist versus,
- 16:10you know,
- 16:10I don't know,
- 16:11establishment,
- 16:11uh,
- 16:12Democrat.
- 16:13Uh,
- 16:13she won that,
- 16:14which was not a huge surprise.
- 16:15We,
- 16:15we did,
- 16:15uh,
- 16:16profit off of that particular race,
- 16:18and I do think that Fleming is the favorite here.
- 16:20I still have it in the likely column.
- 16:22You could argue that it should go to the leaner column.
- 16:24Uh,
- 16:25you know,
- 16:25it's a,
- 16:25again,
- 16:26I like thinking about these.
- 16:28It takes me time to put these,
- 16:29uh,
- 16:29in the right positions,
- 16:30and,
- 16:31uh,
- 16:32I wanna make sure that I'm communicating this to you
- 16:34in the way that I really think about it.
- 16:36I do think it's still a likely race.
- 16:38Um,
- 16:38I think what we will see is,
- 16:40you know,
- 16:42there's some
- 16:43talk.
- 16:43I would love to,
- 16:44we should get Patrick Ruffini on the show.
- 16:45He had a really good piece on basically
- 16:48that
- 16:49the summer polling tends to favor Democrats.
- 16:52He made a really good case on this,
- 16:53and I think he's generally right on it.
- 16:55The way I view here the last 6 weeks of this election though
- 16:59is what we will see is generally speaking,
- 17:01I like to say people come home,
- 17:03right?
- 17:03Last 767 weeks people come home.
- 17:06They tend to come home to their own parties to generally where they were
- 17:09to their partisan
- 17:11leanings because they start thinking about it not as this
- 17:14uh uh esoteric
- 17:16back and forth about,
- 17:17well,
- 17:18I don't like this candidate.
- 17:19I don't like them.
- 17:20I liked that other person in the primary.
- 17:22And they start getting back to,
- 17:23wait a minute,
- 17:24now I'm not comparing the the person I liked and this
- 17:26and the person I'm I'm about to potentially vote for.
- 17:29On my side,
- 17:30I'm now comparing
- 17:31the person who I on my side who I don't really like versus
- 17:35someone I really don't agree with on the other side,
- 17:38and a lot of times people will come home,
- 17:40sometimes they'll stay home too,
- 17:42and that's kind of a that,
- 17:43you know,
- 17:44that's a problem.
- 17:45Uh,
- 17:45if you have no enthusiasm for the race,
- 17:46you might not bother at all,
- 17:48uh,
- 17:48to vote at all.
- 17:49But if you are the type of person
- 17:51who is,
- 17:52you know,
- 17:52maybe a little bit undecided,
- 17:54generally speaking,
- 17:55you revert to your mean,
- 17:57right?
- 17:57You revert back to where you are
- 17:59and people start coming home.
- 18:00In Minnesota,
- 18:01that's kind of what I expect.
- 18:02The polling's pretty close here,
- 18:03and here's what I,
- 18:04the thing about this race.
- 18:05Michelle Tafoy is a good candidate.
- 18:06She's a good,
- 18:07uh,
- 18:08communicator.
- 18:09Um,
- 18:09and you know,
- 18:09we haven't seen her tested on a,
- 18:11on a big stage outside of,
- 18:13uh,
- 18:13you know,
- 18:13ESPN.
- 18:14We haven't seen her,
- 18:15um,
- 18:15tested like on a big debate stage
- 18:18where she's asked some in-depth question about something she is
- 18:21not in her been in her expertise throughout her career.
- 18:24But we know she's good on TV.
- 18:25We know she's a good communicator.
- 18:27And that's why she's so far just been a good candidate in keeping this competitive.
- 18:31I do think Minnesota eventually goes to the Democratic side,
- 18:34at least that's my vibe right now.
- 18:35Again,
- 18:35this is a gut check.
- 18:36This isn't a final projection.
- 18:38This isn't nothing can change from now until the race.
- 18:40This is just where I am right now,
- 18:42what I'm really thinking
- 18:43and where I'm feeling.
- 18:44Georgia's another one.
- 18:45Georgia is another one.
- 18:46I have positions on the Democrats.
- 18:49Uh,
- 18:49anything I can get in Jon Ossoff,
- 18:51uh,
- 18:51when it comes to Jon Ossoff shares,
- 18:53I'm kind of like,
- 18:54uh,
- 18:54I'm happy to pick them up,
- 18:55uh,
- 18:56because,
- 18:56uh,
- 18:57uh,
- 18:57I think Ossoff is
- 18:59one of these guys.
- 18:59He's actually currently,
- 19:00we were surprised to see this yesterday,
- 19:02currently the favorite
- 19:03for the Democratic nomination.
- 19:05I don't know if I'd go that far,
- 19:06uh,
- 19:06on the Republican or on the Democratic side in,
- 19:09uh,
- 19:09the prediction markets.
- 19:11Uh,
- 19:11you have Georgia,
- 19:13uh,
- 19:13you know,
- 19:14uh,
- 19:14uh,
- 19:14it's just that it's gonna be a really tough race,
- 19:16uh,
- 19:17uh,
- 19:17in,
- 19:17in,
- 19:18uh,
- 19:18in Georgia for any Republican,
- 19:20uh,
- 19:21going up against Jon Ossoff
- 19:23because he just is one of these guys.
- 19:24And look,
- 19:25Republicans have screwed up a lot of things over the years.
- 19:27They have screwed up nothing like they've screwed up Georgia.
- 19:30I mean,
- 19:30it has been a catastrophic
- 19:33set of series of events going back to 2021.
- 19:36Uh,
- 19:36in,
- 19:37in,
- 19:37in 2020,
- 19:38uh,
- 19:38when it comes to,
- 19:39uh,
- 19:40that state and the politics of that state,
- 19:42it has been
- 19:43embarrassing on every,
- 19:44every single part of this,
- 19:45uh,
- 19:46because they basically handed both of these Senate seats
- 19:48to,
- 19:49uh,
- 19:50the,
- 19:50uh,
- 19:50uh,
- 19:51uh,
- 19:51the Democrats and then fought internally over and
- 19:54over and over and over and over again.
- 19:56Uh,
- 19:56and were unable to
- 19:58claim either one of these seats back.
- 19:59This is the,
- 20:00the big chance to get the Ossoff seat back.
- 20:02Uh,
- 20:02I don't think it's going to happen,
- 20:03frankly.
- 20:03I think Ossoff's gonna win and probably win relatively easily.
- 20:06North Carolina is another one.
- 20:07This is a race that where you normally would see Republicans.
- 20:11I mean,
- 20:11you might say it's a purplish leaning red state overall.
- 20:14Donald Trump did win it,
- 20:15uh,
- 20:15in 2024.
- 20:17Um,
- 20:17however,
- 20:18they just got a really good candidate
- 20:20for that race,
- 20:21uh,
- 20:21in North Carolina.
- 20:23Roy Cooper,
- 20:23former governor,
- 20:24very popular there.
- 20:25And has led
- 20:26basically in every poll that I've seen.
- 20:28Um,
- 20:29but
- 20:29if I didn't have any polling in that race,
- 20:31I would still think he was going to win it.
- 20:32It's another one that I was trying to pick up shares in the 80s on,
- 20:35uh,
- 20:36on Cooper.
- 20:37It's now,
- 20:37uh,
- 20:38you know,
- 20:38moved itself
- 20:39into the 90s.
- 20:40By the way,
- 20:40you would have known that I was getting these shares back in the 80s if you
- 20:42happen to be a member of PredictableShow.com and
- 20:45you can look at Stu's picks every Friday.
- 20:46There'll be a new edition tomorrow.
- 20:48Um.
- 20:49Because you,
- 20:50I want you to get those things as early as possible if you're in the markets.
- 20:52Like if you're just,
- 20:53you know,
- 20:53watching the news and you like getting,
- 20:54uh,
- 20:54the perspective of prediction markets,
- 20:56you know,
- 20:57I still think it's a great,
- 20:58uh,
- 20:58subscription,
- 20:59but
- 20:59it might not be as interesting to you.
- 21:01If you are trading in these markets.
- 21:02I look,
- 21:03I think it's overwhelmingly
- 21:05valuable,
- 21:06uh,
- 21:06and I think it'll pay for itself over and over again,
- 21:08so.
- 21:08Uh,
- 21:09check that out,
- 21:09predictable show.com.
- 21:11OK,
- 21:11go back and going back to the actual board here,
- 21:15we have,
- 21:15uh,
- 21:15uh,
- 21:15uh,
- 21:16over to the likely Republican
- 21:18states and we have 3
- 21:20that are there as well.
- 21:21Some interesting races
- 21:23in the likely
- 21:24category for you.
- 21:26We start with Kansas.
- 21:27This is Roger Marshall.
- 21:28He's running for reelection
- 21:30and
- 21:31This is the type of race,
- 21:33I do have a position,
- 21:33by the way,
- 21:34on Marshall,
- 21:34uh,
- 21:35uh,
- 21:36a Republican to win
- 21:37in that race.
- 21:38You can get that in the 80s right now.
- 21:41This is
- 21:42Kansas.
- 21:43I'm talking about Kansas here.
- 21:46Kansas,
- 21:47this should be
- 21:48a definite win
- 21:50for Republicans.
- 21:51This should be a race where this is in the 95 to 98% area.
- 21:56Now,
- 21:57Kansas is a little weird.
- 21:58It's a very red state when it comes to presidential elections,
- 22:00obviously.
- 22:01They do
- 22:02pretty normally elect Democrats to,
- 22:05to be governor there,
- 22:06but you know,
- 22:07there's been no,
- 22:08no reason to believe there's,
- 22:09uh,
- 22:10elected a,
- 22:11a Democratic,
- 22:12um,
- 22:12uh,
- 22:13senator there
- 22:13in quite some time.
- 22:15Uh,
- 22:15this should be
- 22:16easy.
- 22:17This is a word about
- 22:19what the
- 22:20overall
- 22:21climate of this race actually is and
- 22:24where this,
- 22:25what,
- 22:25what the,
- 22:27what kind of world we're living in as we get close to the election.
- 22:30Kansas is a state that should be easy.
- 22:33It's uh Marshall versus Adam Hamilton.
- 22:35Uh,
- 22:36Hamilton's very competitive in the polls,
- 22:38too close for comfort if you are a Republican.
- 22:41Uh,
- 22:42you know,
- 22:42Kansas is still a,
- 22:43a state you would certainly lean toward Republican,
- 22:45but it's closer than it should be.
- 22:47That being said,
- 22:49If
- 22:49the sort of general thesis,
- 22:51uh,
- 22:51maybe this is a new thesis statement we should put on the board,
- 22:54Adam,
- 22:54um,
- 22:55a,
- 22:55uh,
- 22:55uh,
- 22:56in that,
- 22:57in the last,
- 22:57uh,
- 22:5867 weeks of the election,
- 22:59people tend to come home.
- 23:00If that thesis plays out,
- 23:03a state like Kansas will come back more toward the Republican and you can win.
- 23:06And we're talking,
- 23:06if you can get that in the
- 23:08low to mid 80s,
- 23:10I,
- 23:10I've seen,
- 23:10uh,
- 23:11you know,
- 23:11I think it's been in the even the high 70s
- 23:13for this race.
- 23:14You're getting a really nice profit on what should be a sure thing for Republicans.
- 23:19Marshall,
- 23:19however,
- 23:20isn't the most,
- 23:21uh,
- 23:22popular guy in his state.
- 23:23He doesn't have the best approval ratings.
- 23:25uh,
- 23:25Hamilton is a,
- 23:27I don't think he's a great candidate,
- 23:29but he's a,
- 23:29he's an OK candidate.
- 23:31So that's what you have there.
- 23:32Uh,
- 23:32it's a likely Republican state.
- 23:34The polling
- 23:36probably shows it as a lean Republican state right now,
- 23:38but I have it as a likely Republican state
- 23:41myself.
- 23:41South Carolina is another one.
- 23:42Now,
- 23:43if you look at other people who do this exercise,
- 23:44I think this is a great exercise for you to just do at home,
- 23:46frankly,
- 23:47um,
- 23:47uh,
- 23:47if you're a total loser
- 23:50like I am,
- 23:50but
- 23:51you just take these things,
- 23:52you know,
- 23:52maybe we should put something,
- 23:53this is another note if you could,
- 23:54Adam.
- 23:55I keep giving Adam notes while we're on the air,
- 23:56but
- 23:57Um,
- 23:57we should maybe make a board like this that people can play with,
- 24:00uh,
- 24:00that they can make these on their own and put it at predictableShow.com.
- 24:03I don't know how feasible that is,
- 24:04but
- 24:04I think it would be fun.
- 24:06Um,
- 24:07it's one of those things where,
- 24:08uh,
- 24:08South Carolina,
- 24:09most experts will have that in the solid Republican,
- 24:12uh,
- 24:13area,
- 24:13and I
- 24:15tend to think that way as well.
- 24:17It should be very,
- 24:18very easy for a Republican to win that race,
- 24:19and it would have been very,
- 24:19very easy for a Republican to win that race,
- 24:20and it would have been very,
- 24:22very easy for a Republican to win that race if Lindsey Graham were still alive.
- 24:25Now,
- 24:26I
- 24:27I'm not a fan,
- 24:28uh,
- 24:28particularly of Lindsey Graham,
- 24:29uh,
- 24:30as a senator.
- 24:30I,
- 24:31I didn't like love all of his politics,
- 24:33you know,
- 24:33I agree with him on some things.
- 24:35He passes away.
- 24:35His sister gets a job,
- 24:36very,
- 24:37very,
- 24:37uh,
- 24:38close,
- 24:38uh,
- 24:39primary where she kind of squeaks it out.
- 24:41She wins,
- 24:42and now she's the nominee.
- 24:43Uh,
- 24:43if you listen to the show a few weeks ago,
- 24:45you may have seen,
- 24:46uh,
- 24:46the reaction I had to that debate where they went back and forth,
- 24:49and she was like,
- 24:50I'm not,
- 24:50I don't really,
- 24:51I'm not really an expert in,
- 24:52in foreign policy.
- 24:54I am concerned about that moment happening
- 24:57in a debate,
- 24:58in a public forum of some sort,
- 25:00here
- 25:01in the general election.
- 25:02That's the reason I have it in the likely.
- 25:03She,
- 25:04I'm not sure
- 25:06she's really ready for this job or what she's about
- 25:09to go through here in the next 6 weeks.
- 25:11If she can kind of just stay out of the spotlight and not make any news,
- 25:14she's gonna win the race easily.
- 25:16But I am concerned about a major slip up after seeing one already in the primary.
- 25:20Hopefully she can get her act together,
- 25:22uh,
- 25:22for her sake,
- 25:23and,
- 25:23uh,
- 25:23and she can cruise to that win.
- 25:25The last one is really interesting and maybe one of the
- 25:27biggest values on the board if you believe in it.
- 25:29Nebraska.
- 25:30Nebraska is a state,
- 25:31um,
- 25:32we're gonna talk about that,
- 25:33uh,
- 25:33in more depth here probably next week,
- 25:35but Nebraska is a state
- 25:36where obviously Republicans should win.
- 25:39Uh,
- 25:39Pete Ricketts is the guy who is the senator there.
- 25:42Um,
- 25:43lots of resources,
- 25:44kind of a really good position,
- 25:46uh,
- 25:46to be in normally.
- 25:48Um,
- 25:49there is a weird thing that Democrats are doing around the country,
- 25:52and they are doing it in even some of the races we've already discussed.
- 25:54They're basically not even running candidates.
- 25:56They're running
- 25:58Democrats as independents,
- 25:59basically,
- 26:00uh,
- 26:00so they are saying they're independents,
- 26:02but quite obviously they're not independents.
- 26:03They're going to be very heavily voting for Democrats.
- 26:07And but they're,
- 26:08what they're trying to do is,
- 26:09and look,
- 26:09as an election tactic,
- 26:10I can understand it and maybe it even works.
- 26:13But it is basically just trying to lie to the people and say,
- 26:16hey,
- 26:16I know you won't vote for a Democrat,
- 26:18so this guy's not a Democrat,
- 26:19Dan Osborne,
- 26:20he's just an independent,
- 26:21he's just like you.
- 26:23I don't know if people will fall for it.
- 26:24Uh,
- 26:25he ran already against Deb Fisher last election cycle,
- 26:28lost by 7 points.
- 26:29Uh,
- 26:30this is a much better environment for,
- 26:32uh,
- 26:32Democrats.
- 26:33The
- 26:34race is very,
- 26:35very close.
- 26:36Ricketts has a lot of resources.
- 26:38Uh,
- 26:38he is an incumbent.
- 26:39There's something about that.
- 26:41Uh,
- 26:41but he's not like the most,
- 26:42I don't think he's the most engaging guy.
- 26:44He kind of,
- 26:45kind of comes off a little,
- 26:46maybe politician.
- 26:47Osborne kind of comes off as like just a guy.
- 26:50I don't think he's a great candidate or anything,
- 26:52but
- 26:53they're trying to give you like,
- 26:54I'm just a normal Nebraska guy.
- 26:55I like farms or whatever they're doing.
- 26:58So
- 26:58right now that race is very,
- 26:59very close.
- 26:59In fact,
- 27:00Osborne leads in some polling.
- 27:03Um,
- 27:03this though,
- 27:04however,
- 27:04you can get this race at like 70
- 27:07for the Republican.
- 27:08So,
- 27:09Either way,
- 27:10it's probably a value.
- 27:11If you think Osborne's gonna win,
- 27:12getting him at 30 is an incredible value.
- 27:14If you think Ricketts is gonna hold on and people are
- 27:17gonna come home in the next 6 or 7 weeks,
- 27:19it's a great value to go the opposite way,
- 27:22uh,
- 27:22and,
- 27:22uh,
- 27:22and,
- 27:23uh,
- 27:23get 30%.
- 27:24I mean 30% on your,
- 27:25uh,
- 27:26uh,
- 27:26uh,
- 27:2630% points on a 70 cent investment
- 27:29that comes down to a 42.9%,
- 27:31uh,
- 27:32profit margin
- 27:33in 40 something days.
- 27:35So,
- 27:36I mean,
- 27:37I don't know.
- 27:37Is that better than your checking account?
- 27:38Probably.
- 27:39OK,
- 27:40but there's definitely risk to that race.
- 27:41OK,
- 27:41next up,
- 27:41let's go to,
- 27:42uh,
- 27:42move this along to the leaners.
- 27:44We've got leaners in the Democrats.
- 27:45There's gonna be some surprises here for you,
- 27:46I think.
- 27:47This is where I am though.
- 27:48This is a gut check for me only,
- 27:50and this is really what I think
- 27:52right now.
- 27:53Uh,
- 27:54so there's gotta be two surprises in there for most people.
- 27:57Alaska.
- 27:59New Hampshire and
- 28:00Ohio.
- 28:01Now,
- 28:02I kind of,
- 28:03when I entered this exercise thought I would have,
- 28:05uh,
- 28:05I might have put a bunch of these into the the tossup area.
- 28:09I,
- 28:10I don't have them in the tossup area.
- 28:11I have them leaning Democrat and let me talk to you about why.
- 28:13Alaska first off is the weirdest one.
- 28:16Alaska got the best possible candidate,
- 28:18which is Mary Peltola.
- 28:19She was a former congressman,
- 28:21but Alaska really likes her.
- 28:22Um,
- 28:23and so she's the Democrat in that race.
- 28:25Sullivan,
- 28:25the Republican in that race,
- 28:27you know,
- 28:28he's a somewhat normal regular Republican but
- 28:31just doesn't have great approval ratings.
- 28:33He's suffering from the climate here,
- 28:35and I think Peltola
- 28:37is
- 28:38in a normal race would be.
- 28:41I would,
- 28:41you know,
- 28:42maybe in the tossup,
- 28:42but a little bit,
- 28:43maybe even leaning D,
- 28:44but this could be a tossup race.
- 28:46But add in
- 28:47the very weird system they have in Alaska,
- 28:50which is a top four system
- 28:52with ranked choice voting.
- 28:53I don't have time to go into all of it now,
- 28:54but
- 28:55it's really,
- 28:55really weird.
- 28:56I would be very nervous about it if I were Republicans,
- 28:59and I think
- 29:00Pelltola is the slight favorite there.
- 29:02I have that as a leaner.
- 29:03New Hampshire
- 29:04actually is probably good news for Republicans that that's in the lean Democratic
- 29:09area.
- 29:09Uh,
- 29:10Sununu is the candidate
- 29:11against,
- 29:12uh,
- 29:12Chris Pappas in,
- 29:13in that state.
- 29:14Um,
- 29:15Sununu is a known quantity.
- 29:17He was senator before.
- 29:18Everyone in the state knows the guy,
- 29:20uh,
- 29:20and he is,
- 29:21uh,
- 29:22his
- 29:22out of the gate winning the primary polling has been very
- 29:25good to the point that he's even being shown
- 29:28as tied in these races.
- 29:30Uh,
- 29:30I just,
- 29:31I,
- 29:31I'm,
- 29:32I'm gonna be surprised.
- 29:33New Hampshire could surprise us here.
- 29:35Uh,
- 29:35I wouldn't be stunned if,
- 29:36if Sununu wins this race,
- 29:38but right now I have it as a lean Democrat.
- 29:40Ohio is the one I was most surprised on my own,
- 29:42though,
- 29:42I gotta say.
- 29:44I keep looking at that race and I keep thinking to myself,
- 29:46this has been a Republican state.
- 29:47It's been red.
- 29:48It's,
- 29:48it's no longer
- 29:49the 2004 Ohio
- 29:52where,
- 29:52uh,
- 29:52you know,
- 29:53it's one of those things where John Kerry is,
- 29:55is,
- 29:55is the closest state in that,
- 29:57uh,
- 29:57in that particular
- 29:59election and Kerry barely lost it.
- 30:00It's gone red.
- 30:01We obviously JD Vance was there.
- 30:03He's now,
- 30:03uh,
- 30:04Vice President of the United States.
- 30:06Should be reliably red.
- 30:07Uh,
- 30:08it's just they've got this democratic
- 30:10environment,
- 30:11this democratic climate,
- 30:12probably a good year for Democrats,
- 30:14and then you have Sherrod Brown,
- 30:16who is a well-known
- 30:17senator there.
- 30:18He lost his reelection in 2024,
- 30:20but now he's back for 2026 going up against Husted,
- 30:24and I really,
- 30:25I,
- 30:25I.
- 30:26I'm in the place now mentally where I think
- 30:28that state is leaning to the Democratic side.
- 30:31Polling's still close.
- 30:32Republicans absolutely
- 30:33have a chance there,
- 30:35uh,
- 30:35but,
- 30:36uh,
- 30:36I think they're gonna have to spend a lot of money to get it.
- 30:38And I don't know,
- 30:39uh,
- 30:39you know,
- 30:40sometimes I don't know what Republicans are
- 30:41doing when they're spending their money.
- 30:42I don't have any idea.
- 30:44And there's gonna be a lot of money we're gonna talk about here in just a second.
- 30:46They're gonna need to spend as well.
- 30:47So I have that one in the Ohio area,
- 30:50uh,
- 30:50the,
- 30:51uh,
- 30:51the lean area in Ohio.
- 30:52Let's go back to the leaning
- 30:54Republican category here.
- 30:56A couple I've talked about here already,
- 30:58I mean,
- 30:59probably the central,
- 31:00the hottest spot,
- 31:01maybe the,
- 31:02the marquee race of the entire Senate is here as well.
- 31:05Two Republican states
- 31:06leaning,
- 31:07uh,
- 31:07that way,
- 31:08Iowa and Texas.
- 31:09Iowa,
- 31:10Ashley Hinson is one of my favorite picks.
- 31:12I,
- 31:12you know,
- 31:12I,
- 31:13I continue to believe she's gonna win that state.
- 31:15Polling's very,
- 31:16very close.
- 31:17Some of it shows that she's down by a couple.
- 31:19Some of it shows that she's up by a couple.
- 31:21Some of it shows that they're tied,
- 31:22um,
- 31:23but.
- 31:23Uh,
- 31:24I think this is,
- 31:25you know,
- 31:25Democrats got a pretty good candidate there,
- 31:27but Hinson,
- 31:28I think,
- 31:28should hold this and
- 31:29get through.
- 31:30I'm hoping so.
- 31:31Uh,
- 31:32you can get this race in the low to mid-sixties,
- 31:35so it is very,
- 31:36very up in the air by the markets.
- 31:38A lot of profit.
- 31:39Potential there if you believe in Henson or if you believe
- 31:41in Turk the other way.
- 31:42Uh,
- 31:42the biggest probably marquee race of all of this is of course in Texas
- 31:46where Ken Paxton,
- 31:48uh,
- 31:48goes up against James Tallarico.
- 31:49Now,
- 31:50I'm in Texas.
- 31:50I see the ads all the time.
- 31:51Maybe I'm only
- 31:52seeing that as the marquee race because I'm in Texas.
- 31:54I don't know.
- 31:55Uh,
- 31:55but
- 31:56Texas is basically,
- 31:57uh,
- 31:58you know,
- 31:58the markets now are saying,
- 31:59I don't know what,
- 32:00what the,
- 32:00the PMC is saying on this.
- 32:01I think it's like 57%
- 32:04toward Tallarico.
- 32:05In Texas of all places.
- 32:07Now,
- 32:07my mind is still that people will kind of come home.
- 32:10They don't love Paxton,
- 32:11I gotta say,
- 32:12they don't love Paxton,
- 32:13uh,
- 32:13in this state,
- 32:15but
- 32:15if,
- 32:16uh,
- 32:16I still think he's got a good shot to win,
- 32:18and I still think he's maybe a 60-40 favorite in this race.
- 32:21But I,
- 32:21I softened on it.
- 32:22I was more in the 70,
- 32:2375% chance probably a couple of months ago.
- 32:26Republicans have to spend money if they want that seat.
- 32:28If they want it,
- 32:29they gotta spend
- 32:305
- 32:30$10 million plus
- 32:32to win it.
- 32:33And uh hopefully they will.
- 32:35Uh,
- 32:35if you are Ken Paxson.
- 32:36And that's what you're hoping for.
- 32:38If you,
- 32:38if you like James Tallarico,
- 32:40you're hoping they don't because Tallarico's got basically unlimited,
- 32:42he's got an unlimited money machine right now,
- 32:44and they are running ads constantly.
- 32:46So Texas,
- 32:47uh,
- 32:48is a leaner.
- 32:49Uh,
- 32:49we only have 2,
- 32:50by the way,
- 32:50toss-up states.
- 32:512 toss-ups.
- 32:53And they are
- 32:54Michigan
- 32:55and Maine.
- 32:56Michigan is El Sayed versus Rogers.
- 32:59Again,
- 32:59El Sayed,
- 33:00if he had lost the primary,
- 33:01I'd probably have that in a lean Democrat area.
- 33:04He did not.
- 33:05He's a very extreme
- 33:06leftist,
- 33:07uh,
- 33:07as you know,
- 33:08he probably would admit to you.
- 33:10He doesn't call himself a democratic socialist,
- 33:11but he basically is.
- 33:13And,
- 33:13uh,
- 33:14he is in a very tight race.
- 33:16He polling shows a small lead for him in most cases,
- 33:20though Rodgers has been shown to be up in some polling as well.
- 33:23Uh,
- 33:24Rodgers is a pretty
- 33:25stable candidate.
- 33:26Uh,
- 33:26he's not,
- 33:27uh,
- 33:27some,
- 33:28You know,
- 33:28uh,
- 33:29someone seen as completely out of the mainstream or anything like that,
- 33:32uh,
- 33:32is pretty good at raising money.
- 33:34Should be a competitive race.
- 33:35Uh,
- 33:36if you were gonna move that one out of the toss-up,
- 33:37I'd probably put it in the lean D
- 33:40category,
- 33:40but
- 33:41I'm gonna right now keep it in the toss-up very,
- 33:42very close.
- 33:43We also have Susan Collins in Maine.
- 33:46We're gonna spend a little bit more time on that here in just a second,
- 33:49but I wanna give you kind of the rundown.
- 33:51As to where we are.
- 33:52We have 34 locked Democrats,
- 33:549
- 33:55solid Democrats get you to 43.
- 33:58Likely
- 33:583 Democrats get you to 46 seats.
- 34:01Lean Democrats,
- 34:023 more get you to 49
- 34:05seats
- 34:05for the Democrats.
- 34:06On the Republican side,
- 34:07you have 31 that are locked,
- 34:08that can't change.
- 34:09You have 13 solid,
- 34:11we don't expect any upsets there.
- 34:12That gets you to 44 seats
- 34:14likely
- 34:15Democrat or Republicans.
- 34:16There's 3 of those that gets you to 47 seats and then there's two leaners,
- 34:21you see how close this is
- 34:22that gets you to 49 if you win every single one of those states,
- 34:26yes,
- 34:26you have a 49-49
- 34:29Senate situation.
- 34:30That is what it looks like 49-49 with two tossups
- 34:34being Michigan.
- 34:35And Maine,
- 34:37that is how important this is right now and how close it is right now.
- 34:40Now,
- 34:41a lot of the models will tell you it's a little bit more Democratic favored than that.
- 34:43That's what I see.
- 34:44That's my gut check right now.
- 34:4649,
- 34:4749
- 34:48with two toss-ups.
- 34:50One of them
- 34:51we're gonna talk about
- 34:52next.
- 35:12As I've mentioned,
- 35:12I have,
- 35:13uh,
- 35:13you know,
- 35:13something like 300 positions on,
- 35:15uh,
- 35:15prediction markets.
- 35:16They're all available for you at
- 35:18predictableshow.com
- 35:19and Stu's picks,
- 35:20but
- 35:21What we've been doing with the candidate countdown is I
- 35:23will basically pick a random one from the field.
- 35:26I mean,
- 35:26you know,
- 35:26you try to pick some that are,
- 35:28uh,
- 35:28you know,
- 35:28kind of closer to sure things,
- 35:30some of them that are kind of a little bit more value,
- 35:32some in the middle,
- 35:33all over the place.
- 35:34But I
- 35:35basically what I'm doing is I'm picking at random,
- 35:36right?
- 35:36Like I'm,
- 35:37I'm picking ones that I think would be interesting to talk about,
- 35:39maybe they tie into the news,
- 35:40whatever.
- 35:40It's just a selection from
- 35:42what is up at Stu's,
- 35:43uh,
- 35:43picks,
- 35:44uh,
- 35:44and kind of give you the justification of my thinking.
- 35:47Um,
- 35:47so far,
- 35:48it has cursed almost every single one of them.
- 35:50Uh,
- 35:50the second I mentioned them,
- 35:52they have their worst polling of the of the season.
- 35:55Uh,
- 35:55you know,
- 35:56uh,
- 35:56their dog gets run over in the,
- 35:57in the,
- 35:57in the driveway.
- 35:58Uh,
- 35:58it seems like every single time I mention one of these people,
- 36:00bad things happen.
- 36:01So,
- 36:02I don't,
- 36:02that's not my intent.
- 36:03I want you to know.
- 36:04I mean,
- 36:05I talked about Greg Abbott,
- 36:06who's,
- 36:06uh,
- 36:07who's now in the 70s,
- 36:08uh,
- 36:09the 70s to buy Greg Abbott to win the state of Texas.
- 36:11Look,
- 36:11I still think it's,
- 36:12I think it's even better value now,
- 36:14so I'm,
- 36:14I'm still buying,
- 36:15uh,
- 36:16but.
- 36:17It's just that
- 36:17he's had a couple of bad polls now,
- 36:19and this is what's going on.
- 36:20So,
- 36:21let me tell you about the candidate of the day.
- 36:23With that being said,
- 36:24I'm not trying to curse this particular person,
- 36:26uh,
- 36:26but,
- 36:27uh,
- 36:27the candidate of the day,
- 36:28I wanted to give you something that was a little bit
- 36:30out of what we've done so far.
- 36:31This is not someone you're gonna find in the 90s or the 80s or 70s.
- 36:35I wanted to give you someone who's more of a long shot,
- 36:37who you can get it,
- 36:37I think,
- 36:38at a real value right now.
- 36:40And that person is
- 36:42Susan Collins.
- 36:43Yes,
- 36:44so that was our last toss-up race.
- 36:46Susan Collins
- 36:47from
- 36:48Maine.
- 36:49Uh,
- 36:49I wanted to bring on,
- 36:50uh,
- 36:51our friend,
- 36:51by the way,
- 36:52that look at that picture there,
- 36:53Dan.
- 36:53Uh,
- 36:53that's the picture
- 36:54they chose for Susan Collins 1991,
- 36:57I mean.
- 36:58It's not,
- 36:59it's not accurate as to,
- 37:00uh,
- 37:00what she,
- 37:01here's what she looks like today.
- 37:02She's still lovely,
- 37:03but,
- 37:03uh,
- 37:04it's a little bit different.
- 37:05Just
- 37:05age gets to all of us,
- 37:06Dan.
- 37:07We,
- 37:07we looked probably better back in the day.
- 37:09I had hair a few years ago,
- 37:11you know,
- 37:12and now you have a predictable hat.
- 37:13Uh,
- 37:14I got a hat.
- 37:14Yeah,
- 37:15that's how it works.
- 37:16Um,
- 37:17I,
- 37:17I wanted to bring this up because you and I
- 37:18have talked about this race specifically offline several times,
- 37:21and you said you thought you saw some value here.
- 37:24I agree.
- 37:25Can you lay out a little bit of your case here?
- 37:27Well,
- 37:27I mean,
- 37:27let's just start by saying for whatever reason
- 37:30in up there in Maine,
- 37:32Susan Collins is like,
- 37:34you know,
- 37:35a glass of milk and some warm cookies.
- 37:36It's just familiar to them and they seem to just be like,
- 37:39all right,
- 37:39this is,
- 37:40this is what we're doing because it's not like a Republican
- 37:43stronghold,
- 37:44right?
- 37:44They,
- 37:44I don't think they have voted for a
- 37:47Republican president since like 1988.
- 37:51And so you look at these polls now and she's up by a couple in some of them
- 37:55or only down by a couple in some of them.
- 37:58Uh,
- 37:58so she's very close in the polling,
- 38:00but yet the markets have her
- 38:02at,
- 38:03uh,
- 38:03I think last I looked it was like a 68,
- 38:0632-ish
- 38:07something around something around that range.
- 38:10So that's a huge gap there.
- 38:11Somebody's wrong,
- 38:13right?
- 38:13Somebody's wrong on this,
- 38:15and,
- 38:15uh,
- 38:15if you look at the history,
- 38:17I mean there's not a long history of this exact situation because she in,
- 38:21in
- 38:22you go back,
- 38:23let's look at 2021st real quick,
- 38:25so.
- 38:26On this exact week,
- 38:28she was down 12.
- 38:31Uh,
- 38:32and then on election day she won by 9,
- 38:35so.
- 38:37Wow,
- 38:38quite a
- 38:38turnaround,
- 38:39right,
- 38:39and so,
- 38:40but in past ones like elections prior to that
- 38:43she had like bigger leads and then still won by a lot.
- 38:46So maybe,
- 38:46I mean maybe this just means she's trending
- 38:49back down to earth and maybe uh it's just that kind of a year for Democrats where
- 38:55uh they're gonna unseat somebody like her but because she's not a.
- 38:59Obviously prototypical,
- 39:00you know,
- 39:01hardcore Republican,
- 39:02she's very moderate,
- 39:03she's already coming out against Canada,
- 39:05you know,
- 39:06against Trump's comments on Canada and policies on Canada
- 39:08and things like that right now to try to
- 39:10align herself.
- 39:11So,
- 39:12but it does seem
- 39:13like 30 seems very low for Susan Collins to me right now.
- 39:17Let's take a,
- 39:17let me take a quick,
- 39:18uh,
- 39:18glance at this polling as well with you.
- 39:20The X Factor new poll came out today.
- 39:22Collins and Jackson
- 39:24tied,
- 39:25tied in this.
- 39:26You see,
- 39:26uh,
- 39:26Qantas Insights is the,
- 39:28uh,
- 39:28top one there,
- 39:29uh,
- 39:29tied at 40,
- 39:31what is it 4 it says,
- 39:31I guess it says 48,
- 39:3247 on that particular graphic,
- 39:34but,
- 39:34um,
- 39:35it was,
- 39:35uh,
- 39:36basically tied.
- 39:37Um,
- 39:38yeah,
- 39:38they,
- 39:38they have it listed as
- 39:39Collins up by 1,
- 39:40but basically they're tied.
- 39:41The the previous several polls,
- 39:43you see Jackson + 4,
- 39:45Jackson + 3,
- 39:45Jackson + 8,
- 39:46Jackson + 21 of the reasons is,
- 39:48I think too,
- 39:48you know,
- 39:48you remember Graham Plattner getting out of that race,
- 39:50and,
- 39:51uh,
- 39:51you know,
- 39:52the replacement
- 39:54tests well,
- 39:55then you have to actually meet the guy.
- 39:56And,
- 39:57uh,
- 39:57and,
- 39:57and,
- 39:57and Jackson
- 39:59seemingly married to his cousin that doesn't even seem to be really in debate.
- 40:02I,
- 40:02I don't know,
- 40:02that's a weird sideline part of this.
- 40:04um,
- 40:05what's going on in Maine?
- 40:06I don't know get the Nazi guy and then,
- 40:08you know,
- 40:09little.
- 40:10Married to the cousin.
- 40:11I mean,
- 40:11it's just something in the water.
- 40:13I don't know,
- 40:13uh,
- 40:13up there.
- 40:14Uh,
- 40:14by the way,
- 40:15uh,
- 40:15Collins has got an endorsement from,
- 40:17um,
- 40:17Joe Manchin,
- 40:18uh,
- 40:18the former kind of moderate Republican or Democratic senator,
- 40:21uh,
- 40:22in the race.
- 40:22Does that move the needle?
- 40:23I don't know if it really moves the needle,
- 40:25but maybe a little bit.
- 40:26Can we get the live market though on this?
- 40:27I wanna get the exact prices of where we are right now.
- 40:30You see how much it's moved around.
- 40:31It's been a Pretty erratic race.
- 40:33When Plattner was,
- 40:34uh,
- 40:34doing really,
- 40:35really well,
- 40:36Dan,
- 40:36you see,
- 40:37he was up in the,
- 40:38uh,
- 40:3880s.
- 40:39Uh,
- 40:39he,
- 40:39when,
- 40:40when the scandal broke,
- 40:41he fell back down into the 50/50 type of range with,
- 40:43uh,
- 40:44with Collins.
- 40:45And then when Jackson was announced and people are saying,
- 40:47OK,
- 40:47well,
- 40:47he might be kind of strange,
- 40:49but not necessarily
- 40:50a guy who is going to be,
- 40:52have a Nazi tattoo.
- 40:53He,
- 40:54he popped back up into this range where he's
- 40:55been relatively consistent for the past couple of weeks.
- 40:5867-33 is where it is now.
- 41:00Um,
- 41:01I know I bought some Susan Collins at 30,
- 41:03uh,
- 41:03not that long ago.
- 41:04So it's,
- 41:05she's up a little bit from that place.
- 41:07And,
- 41:07and this is just so quickly,
- 41:08Dan,
- 41:08we got less than a minute,
- 41:09but
- 41:10one of the things it's,
- 41:10it's,
- 41:11when you think about prediction markets,
- 41:12it's not always about predicting the winner.
- 41:14I don't know,
- 41:15I kind of feel like it's a 48%,
- 41:1750 to 52% chance she wins this race.
- 41:19Like she's the tiniest of underdogs in my mind.
- 41:22But there's value there.
- 41:23If I can buy something that I think is worth 48 cents at 30 cents,
- 41:27that's an incredible value.
- 41:29I might not even hold that position all the way till election day.
- 41:31I might even sell out of it.
- 41:33I,
- 41:33I,
- 41:33you know,
- 41:33who knows?
- 41:34But I love the value for it right now.
- 41:36Give me a last word on Susan Collins.
- 41:38Yeah,
- 41:39no,
- 41:39I agree with your point right there.
- 41:40I mean,
- 41:41regardless of the winner,
- 41:42I mean,
- 41:43I,
- 41:43I could easily see on election day,
- 41:45we've seen some of these polls and or some of the markets,
- 41:49you know,
- 41:49violently shift as the,
- 41:51uh,
- 41:52different
- 41:52counties come in.
- 41:54So if you're getting her at 30,
- 41:55that's,
- 41:56and you just think at some point in the night,
- 41:58it might go up to 60 or 70.
- 42:01Could be some
- 42:02good value.
- 42:02Yeah,
- 42:02she gets,
- 42:03gets a good start.
- 42:03A couple of good counties come out and,
- 42:05uh,
- 42:05you might,
- 42:05you might be able to sell out of that position even if she winds up losing,
- 42:08which is one of the great things about prediction markets.
- 42:10You can just set the sale
- 42:11and just sit it out there and hope somebody buys it.
- 42:13Uh,
- 42:14for a nice big profit.
- 42:15The good thing about Collins here,
- 42:16and the reason why I think it's worth it too,
- 42:18if she does win,
- 42:19for every 30 cents that you invest,
- 42:21you get a 70 cents profit.
- 42:22So you're talking about over 200%
- 42:25returns on this one.
- 42:26It's gonna be a big winner,
- 42:27not a sure thing by any means,
- 42:29but it's there.
- 42:29Dan Andrews,
- 42:30friend of the show,
- 42:30thanks so much for popping on the program.
- 42:32And,
- 42:33uh,
- 42:33as,
- 42:33as,
- 42:33as the Susan Collins stand that you are.
- 42:36Yes,
- 42:37that's me.
- 42:38That's what I've been known for,
- 42:39I think.
- 42:39Yeah,
- 42:40sure.
- 42:41You,
- 42:41you become a fan of weird things when you're doing prediction
- 42:43markets or at least talking about them regularly like you do.

- 42:46back in a second.
- 42:56All right,
