- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Do you often feel that you need more motivation to get things
- 0:43done? Like if you had more motivation,
- 0:46would you exercise more? Would you make a change?
- 0:48Would you do a project or pursue a goal that you've been thinking
- 0:52about? It's Adam here and in this
- 0:55hypnosis session. You could be hearing a hypnosis
- 0:58session all about motivation, but also about duty and
- 1:02responsibility, and this particular client originally
- 1:05wanted this session to increase their motivation.
- 1:09To do things. Like do yoga more and to write a
- 1:11book and to be healthier and to have another source of income
- 1:16that might form a pension for them.
- 1:18And I asked them, you know, how much motivation do they feel to
- 1:21do their current job? And they said we're not that
- 1:24motivated. And yet they did that anyway.
- 1:27And when I asked them, what do they call that word that means
- 1:31that they do the work even if they don't feel motivated, they
- 1:36use the phrase duty and that duty.
- 1:39Is the. Thing that actually makes a
- 1:41difference to their life. So the things they needed
- 1:44motivation for, they wouldn't necessarily do.
- 1:48It was a dream. It was.
- 1:50Wishful thinking. It's.
- 1:51Someday, one day. But things that they felt a duty
- 1:54to do, they would do consistently.
- 1:57So what this hypnosis session does is it utilizes the idea of
- 2:01unlimited motivation to inspire them to think about those things
- 2:06that are really, really important to them, but then
- 2:09transitions that to a feeling of what if they had a duty?
- 2:13To do those. Things rather than just needed
- 2:16motivation to feel inspired to do.
- 2:20And that transition is really, really important, those people.
- 2:24That feel. Motivated to go to the gym will
- 2:27only go to the gym if they feel really motivated.
- 2:30And that might not be very often, but some people, like
- 2:34myself, for example, I feel that I have a duty to my body to work
- 2:38out and eat well. And if I do that, I know it's
- 2:42going to mean that I get sick less.
- 2:44I'm going to feel with more energy, more clarity, I'm going
- 2:48to sleep better. So some things, when you frame
- 2:51them as a responsibility, as a duty, you do them much more
- 2:54consistently than if it needs motivation.
- 2:58And I would encourage you to think about in this session, if
- 3:02you had unlimited motivation, what would you do with it?
- 3:05Because having motivation and not doing anything with it, it
- 3:09doesn't really make sense. You know, it's a resource.
- 3:12Motivation is a resource, but only if you put it to use.
- 3:15And there's a metaphor that I use in this session about a
- 3:18plant can be wilted if it isn't given water or it gets stronger
- 3:22and grows. If it is, motivation is like
- 3:25that. If you feel inspired or
- 3:27motivated and you put that to use, expect more inspiration and
- 3:31motivation. But if you have the motivation
- 3:34and then it passes, then imagine less motivation in the future.
- 3:39So. That can give you the ideas as
- 3:41to what you would want to enrich your life, but actually the duty
- 3:45and the responsibility. If we can frame that as you
- 3:49committing to a promise that you're making to yourself and
- 3:52that feels a duty to yourself, don't be surprised if that
- 3:56actually means that you stick to the thing that you've been
- 3:58trying to do for a very long time and not actually doing now.
- 4:02Some of the references in this session, like yoga and dog
- 4:04walking and writing a book, they're probably not your goals.
- 4:09Your goals are probably very different.
- 4:11So think about what is inspiring and motivating for you and make
- 4:17a promise to yourself that enriches your life.
- 4:20But if you do want something bespoke and tailor made to you,
- 4:25rather than hearing a recording that was created for someone
- 4:27else, there will be a link in the description where you can
- 4:31essentially schedule a free 30 minute conversation with me over
- 4:34Zoom. We'll have a chat and it might
- 4:36be that I can do bespoke hypnotherapy with you to find
- 4:40the resources that work to enrich your life.
- 4:43Because there is an opportunity cost here.
- 4:45There's things that you've been thinking about that you've been
- 4:48putting off for years that you know that if you did those
- 4:50things, your life would get better.
- 4:53Now it might be that if you hypnotherapy sessions mean that
- 4:56you actually start doing those things, but imagine that you
- 5:00start doing them five years from now.
- 5:02What does that cost you in the missed opportunity of making
- 5:05that much progress in your life? So think about that and whether
- 5:09you made that breakthrough from listening to one of my
- 5:11recordings, self reflection, or a personal session with me, I
- 5:15don't mind. But I think it's wonderful when
- 5:17people finally actually start aligning with the life that they
- 5:21want and then what life they deserve, rather than framing as
- 5:24wishful thinking and and dreaming, but without the actual
- 5:27doing. And I would say this podcast and
- 5:30me being a hypnotherapist is a great example of that.
- 5:33I first wanted to be a hypnotherapist in my early 20s,
- 5:36but it was only in my mid 30s I actually made that happen.
- 5:39And for me, it was just changing a wishful thinking dream and
- 5:43idea into something that I was actually going to do.
- 5:46And when you make that change, it has a big ripple effect in
- 5:50your life. My life is a lot better now than
- 5:52it would have been had I not pursued that this podcast again.
- 5:56I was thinking of a podcast for many years.
- 5:59Early days of COVID, I launched The Hypnotist as a podcast and
- 6:03now it's approaching 17,000,000 downloads around the world.
- 6:07But if I had just thought about it and not did it, and I felt a
- 6:11duty to get an episode out at least once a week, and now I do
- 6:14it roughly once a day. That's what's given me the
- 6:18growing audience, not a feeling of inspiration and motivation
- 6:22which then fizzles out. So if any of this connects with
- 6:24you, I think you'll get some value from this session.
- 6:27And the best way to enjoy this session and get the most of it
- 6:30is to find a quiet, comfortable place where you won't be
- 6:32disturbed, Relax and enjoy the session.
- 6:51Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in a
- 6:58feeling of quiet, calm relaxation.
- 7:02And as you exhale, allow your eyelids to close, and as they
- 7:09close, feel a sense of release, releasing tension, stress and
- 7:16worries. But also, on the next inward
- 7:20breath, breathe in a feeling of pride, proud of the progress
- 7:27you've already made. And that's no small thing.
- 7:35To make a change, a change that ripples through time, is a gift
- 7:42to your future self. A gift of better sleep, A gift
- 7:48of more energy, vitality, a gift of rising motivation.
- 7:58I want you to scan your body. For any.
- 8:01Clues of stress, worry, or tension.
- 8:05And as you breathe in that relaxation, just allow yourself
- 8:10to have a nice long sigh as you exhale.
- 8:19And every time that's it. You have that long outward
- 8:23breath. I want you to imagine a release
- 8:26valve on a pressure cooker. That's it.
- 8:29Breathe in from the chest and the diaphragm and on the outward
- 8:35breath, feel a wonderful sense of release.
- 8:46That's it. Just feel that this is one of
- 8:52the fastest ways that you get to recalibrate on any given day.
- 9:01Small things can build up and build up and build up, but what
- 9:07if all it takes at any point is that long outward sigh until
- 9:15there's nothing left in your lungs at all?
- 9:21What if it's all it takes to release?
- 9:25I want you to feel that sometimes.
- 9:32Sometimes it can feel that, the stress, the pressure,
- 9:37frustrations, building and building and building.
- 9:41In the past, maybe a glass of wine was the way that you
- 9:46release that pressure, but you don't need that now.
- 9:52There's things that work way better.
- 9:57A long outward breath, a stretch, a nice walk, breathing
- 10:06in fresh air. What if that's all it takes to
- 10:13calm everything down? And when you feel calm, you
- 10:19sleep better. And when you sleep better, you
- 10:23awaken more energized. And when you awaken with more
- 10:30energy, it gives. You more capacity.
- 10:36To do more of what you want to do.
- 10:41And I want you to think of those things that you want to do.
- 10:49I want you to imagine. Imagine there are two chambers,
- 10:56futuristic science fiction chambers.
- 11:03The 1st is the Chamber of motivation and the second is the
- 11:09Chamber of duty. I want you to imagine walking in
- 11:17to the Chamber of motivation and feel the chamber filling almost
- 11:25with a vapour, a collar, a sensation, even a sound.
- 11:32By spending time in this chamber I want you to feel that it
- 11:38increases your motivation to do that which you desire for
- 11:45anything. Just feel almost like a dead
- 11:50battery being recharged to beyond 100% because this is the
- 11:58Chamber of unlimited motivation. Breathe in that colour, that
- 12:08sensation and just feel how you would feel if your motivation
- 12:17was rising and it dawns on you. Motivation without something to
- 12:25do is just a wasted resource. Need to think that if you had
- 12:33unlimited motivation, what would you do with it?
- 12:40What's the most important thing you would do with all that
- 12:43motivation? Maybe it's prioritizing your
- 12:50health but doing more yoga. Maybe it's spending more time
- 12:58outside, walking in nature, or maybe it's taking that
- 13:05experience you've had in the past and turning it into an
- 13:09adventure, a book, a story that connects your story with the
- 13:14world. Maybe it's thinking about your
- 13:21future self to create something that means that you are more
- 13:28secure at some point in the future when either you choose
- 13:34not to work or simply can't work in the same way you have.
- 13:41Allow your unconscious mind to inspire you with ideas as to
- 13:46what you would do with all of that motivation.
- 13:53But for many people, motivation feels like a magic spell that
- 14:02over time, wears off. And even if that's true.
- 14:13You could just re. Listen to this.
- 14:15Enter your chamber. Top up your motivation.
- 14:20Feel motivated, galvanized, resolute to do what needs to be
- 14:26done. And I want you to search where
- 14:32in your body you feel. This motivation.
- 14:36Some people feel it in their heart, their head, somewhere
- 14:41else, in their chest or their gun.
- 14:43I want you to point to where you feel this feeling of intense
- 14:47motivation expanded. Put that same colour there,
- 14:58there in that location, expand it, make it brighter and just
- 15:02feel that whenever you think of that color in that.
- 15:04Location. It will give you instant
- 15:08motivation, but if you have the motivation and don't do anything
- 15:13with it, the motivation weakens. But if you feel the motivation
- 15:19and you put that motivation to work doing something, it will
- 15:24get stronger the next time. Just like a plant, if you water
- 15:31the plant it grows and if you neglect the plant, it Wilts.
- 15:38I want you to consider your motivation.
- 15:41Motivation needs challenges. Without challenges and
- 15:46stimulation the motivation Wilts.
- 15:50But when it's challenged, it gives you more.
- 15:53If your unconscious accepts that there is a duty to feed your
- 15:59motivation, let me know by nodding your head.
- 16:06Imagine leaving the Chamber of motivation and then seeing the
- 16:12Chamber of duty. Enter the Chamber of duty and
- 16:19realise this has a different feeling, a different colour.
- 16:24Breathe in the air of that duty. And I want you to consider duty
- 16:30something different from motivation.
- 16:34Duty is a resolve to do what needs to be done, whether you
- 16:37feel like it or not. Duty is honouring your promises,
- 16:43your commitments, your responsibilities.
- 16:48I want you to get a sense that sometimes motivation feels more
- 16:53like inspiration. But duty is something that runs
- 16:58deep. You will do what needs to be
- 17:02done irrespective of how you feel.
- 17:09And you can always make decisions as to your
- 17:13responsibilities, your commitments if it really doesn't
- 17:17serve you. But I want you to connect
- 17:21without feeling of infinite duty, and I want you to get a
- 17:27sense that you've accomplished more in your life from duty than
- 17:34you ever have from motivation. Motivation is useful, but duty,
- 17:42that's where the rubber meets the road.
- 17:46That's where you will do something day after day after
- 17:50day. You have a duty to your dog.
- 17:56You have a duty to your life. But I want you to awaken a duty
- 18:04to your future self, that version of you that would love
- 18:10to be healthier, happier, more fulfilled, more secure.
- 18:18And as you imagine having this infinite duty, I want you to get
- 18:24a sense of increased certainty by making a promise to yourself
- 18:31that you will do something, and then using duty to honour that
- 18:37promise. And you don't need to think of
- 18:411000 promises, just one. And maybe, maybe it's one
- 18:51promise, a promise that feels aspirational, inspiring,
- 19:02something that you know that by honouring that promise, your
- 19:07life continues to get better and better.
- 19:14If your unconscious knows what that promise is, let me know
- 19:19about nodding your head. That's it.
- 19:22And I want you to feel that you have something wonderful.
- 19:31Two strategies, both effective, but in different ways.
- 19:39Sometimes by wondering what you would do with infinite
- 19:42motivation gives you permission to dream big.
- 19:49Don't rely on motivation to get that dream done.
- 19:54Duty and discipline, honouring your commitments, that's what
- 20:01will get it over the line. And now if both parts, the part
- 20:08that craves motivation and that part that will be dutiful, are
- 20:14willing to work on a team. To take your life to the next
- 20:19level, the next evolution, to enhance your life even more.
- 20:24If they're willing to work in harmony and partnership to do
- 20:29that, Let me know by nodding your head.
- 20:34Imagine leaving that Chamber of duty and feeling in this moment
- 20:42that you are full to the brim of motivation and duty and you're
- 20:51looking forward to feeding these resources, honouring your
- 20:57commitments and challenging yourself to think a little
- 21:02bigger. To move those limitations or
- 21:08excuses out of the way. To find a way to continue to
- 21:17move forward and do what needs to be done.
- 21:24And just get a sense that if you are able to commit to this
- 21:31promise, allow an image to form in your mind of what your life
- 21:36might be like 5 or 10 years in the future.
- 21:40And if you know with absolute certainty it would improve, let
- 21:43me know by nodding your head, in which case this is a promise
- 21:51worth keeping. And as you hold that thought,
- 21:55leave this room with two chambers for keeping all the
- 21:59motivation and all of that duty, a willingness to honour that
- 22:05promise. As you now feel able to float
- 22:10back to the here and the now, Take a deep breath in through
- 22:14your nose and out through your nose.
- 22:20Wiggle your fingers, wiggle your toes.
- 22:22Connect and calibrate into the here and the now as I now count
- 22:30from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 22:35Starting to count 123 waking up 456 More alert 7-8.
- 22:44Open your eyes. Open your eyes, 910.
- 22:48Wide awake, wide awake, wide awake.
