- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome back to another episode of Star Wars Alliance.
- 0:23Speaker 2: For those of you who are joining us live, I
- 0:26Speaker 2: want to go ahead and apologize even maybe those who
- 0:30Speaker 2: are listening on podcasts, because for one, Katie is not
- 0:36Speaker 2: in her usual setting, so her volume might sound a
- 0:40Speaker 2: little off, which is totally fine, but.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Weird.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Yes, it always disorients me because like it like it's
- 0:51Speaker 2: like as if I have drunk vision, Like while I'm
- 0:55Speaker 2: talking to you, it's like everything is like going around
- 0:58Speaker 2: in circles and up and down and and it's all
- 1:01Speaker 2: sorts of crazy. But also for those of you who
- 1:04Speaker 2: are joining us on YouTube, you can see that I
- 1:07Speaker 2: have children with me. Actually you can't see because I
- 1:10Speaker 2: purposely put my daughter behind the chair, but you see
- 1:15Speaker 2: my dog.
- 1:16Speaker 4: My wife is currently in a.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Work meeting, and we needed to record, and I didn't
- 1:22Speaker 2: want to push, you know, Katie, to having to wait
- 1:27Speaker 2: so long with her being at her parents' house, which Katie,
- 1:33Speaker 2: thankfully you were Okay. Yes, I have heard and seen
- 1:37Speaker 2: some crazy things come out of this hurricane, absolutely insane,
- 1:43Speaker 2: and hopefully there's not so much craziness. And I've already
- 1:51Speaker 2: seen reports of like over like one hundred deaths already
- 1:55Speaker 2: in your area or where it was hit in South
- 1:58Speaker 2: Carolina North Carolina area.
- 2:00Speaker 3: It is mainly in the North Carolina area where the
- 2:03Speaker 3: deaths have been occurring. I'm from the upstate of South Carolina,
- 2:07Speaker 3: if anybody doesn't know that. But we were out of
- 2:12Speaker 3: power for three days. We did not have to experience
- 2:16Speaker 3: being out of power very long because I have family
- 2:18Speaker 3: that's about a couple hours away, so we were able
- 2:23Speaker 3: to take everything, kind of get down and just get
- 2:28Speaker 3: away from the chaos with a baby, you.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Know, Like that's that's the that's the craziest thing, you know,
- 2:35Speaker 2: because I had mentioned it in our GUA chat a
- 2:40Speaker 2: little insight on my life.
- 2:41Speaker 4: Of course, everybody knows that I.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Recently moved to Indiana, but one of the choices was
- 2:47Speaker 2: to live closer to Katie and some other members of
- 2:52Speaker 2: the GUA. And if I were to have done that,
- 2:59Speaker 2: my wife Abby was saying, like, man, could you imagine,
- 3:03Speaker 2: Like we wouldn't have anybody there to help us out,
- 3:06Speaker 2: and we would have just been stranded with a two
- 3:08Speaker 2: year old.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Yeah, the worst thing we had was some lost groceries.
- 3:15Speaker 3: So like it is what it is, I'm really thankful
- 3:18Speaker 3: that like we weren't in like the major path yeah
- 3:25Speaker 3: and everything. And I'm really praying for Western North Carolina
- 3:29Speaker 3: because like we were supposed to be off tomorrow and
- 3:32Speaker 3: Friday to go apple picking and do stuff in western
- 3:37Speaker 3: North Carolina and that's not happening now obviously, Like Chimney
- 3:40Speaker 3: Rock is gone. Like I grew up going to Chimney Rock,
- 3:43Speaker 3: Like that's horrifying to me.
- 3:46Speaker 4: Like, so, yeah, I uh with with my job.
- 3:51Speaker 2: I didn't know this, but there is actually a lot
- 3:55Speaker 2: of high industrial comic book printers uh in the area
- 4:02Speaker 2: of Florida in all the way like moving up north
- 4:06Speaker 2: on that coast, and a lot of them have actually
- 4:09Speaker 2: been hit. So my job is getting more and more
- 4:14Speaker 2: difficult every single day that we get updates. But thankfully
- 4:20Speaker 2: a lot of the people knew this was gonna happen
- 4:22Speaker 2: and they took precautions to to kind of negate a
- 4:27Speaker 2: lot of the.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Fallback from it.
- 4:30Speaker 2: So yeah, just a little life update there, But we
- 4:34Speaker 2: do have very little news to talk about. Not a
- 4:38Speaker 2: whole lot has happened since the last it's been two weeks,
- 4:44Speaker 2: and nothing too crazy. I hope you guys enjoyed the
- 4:50Speaker 2: conversation about Lego Star Wars Rebuild the Galaxy, as well
- 4:56Speaker 2: as the very difficult con Star Wars Trivia. So yeah,
- 5:05Speaker 2: that was a lot of fun. But this week we
- 5:09Speaker 2: have some video game and technically video game non video
- 5:14Speaker 2: game news. So first one, I believe it was actually
- 5:21Speaker 2: I shared it, and again I need to stop using
- 5:25Speaker 2: the Star Wars Alliance Twitter account, but.
- 5:30Speaker 3: It was so helpful to add that account, and it.
- 5:33Speaker 4: Is it is.
- 5:34Speaker 2: It's so helpful because it's a lot easier to grab
- 5:37Speaker 2: things and reference them when we are talking throughout the episodes.
- 5:42Speaker 2: But I get notifications and I immediately start to respond
- 5:46Speaker 2: and then like even Travis called me out on it.
- 5:49Speaker 2: He's like, oh, thank you, Star Wars Alliance. But but
- 5:54Speaker 2: I did post this on our Star Wars Alliance chat
- 5:58Speaker 2: saying that there are reports saying that Star Wars Outlaws
- 6:04Speaker 2: only sold one million copies since launch, and I know
- 6:10Speaker 2: a lot of people are like a million. That's a lot,
- 6:13Speaker 2: holy crap. In retrospect, that is very, very minimal. Now,
- 6:21Speaker 2: I will say it's not as small as some of
- 6:25Speaker 2: the other releases that have happened in the video game
- 6:29Speaker 2: world this year, because there have been some very very
- 6:34Speaker 2: mediocre and pathetic launches with things like Suicide Squad and
- 6:39Speaker 2: even a first person shooter or a third person shooter
- 6:43Speaker 2: I can't remember what it was called Concord. Those have
- 6:46Speaker 2: been the really big highlights in the video game world.
- 6:49Speaker 2: But here with Star Wars Outlaws having sold only one
- 6:52Speaker 2: million copies, it is not great. And the reason being
- 6:57Speaker 2: Travis brought it up in our Star Wars Alliance chat.
- 7:01Speaker 2: They put this on game pass. It has been a
- 7:05Speaker 2: very weird thing for Xbox to tests and because again,
- 7:14Speaker 2: this whole entertainment world in the past ten years have
- 7:20Speaker 2: been revolving around subscriptions, whether that be for Netflix, whether
- 7:26Speaker 2: that be for again Xbox or PlayStation, we start to
- 7:32Speaker 2: see subscriptions for some of the most like very simple
- 7:36Speaker 2: things like photo storage. It's everything is surrounding subscriptions, and
- 7:43Speaker 2: so Xbox was like, hey, let's do this game pass
- 7:46Speaker 2: thing and we'll do some of the craziest deals so
- 7:48Speaker 2: that way people will be invested in the game pass
- 7:51Speaker 2: and then we'll make more money that way. As it
- 7:55Speaker 2: really turned out that way, people have been purchasing the
- 8:00Speaker 2: game pass for fifteen dollars, beating the game within one month,
- 8:06Speaker 2: and then turning off game Pass. This is what people
- 8:09Speaker 2: do for Netflix. They turn it on Binge the one
- 8:13Speaker 2: show that they wanted to watch for that month's release,
- 8:16Speaker 2: and then they cancel it and then they move on
- 8:19Speaker 2: with their lives. And people have gotten smarter with it,
- 8:23Speaker 2: and that's how they have been playing these games. If
- 8:25Speaker 2: you're going to offer this kind of service, then that's.
- 8:29Speaker 4: What you're gonna do.
- 8:30Speaker 2: I also said one of the biggest problems with this game,
- 8:35Speaker 2: although it looked great, I think that you know, eventually
- 8:38Speaker 2: I will play it.
- 8:39Speaker 4: I still want to. But out of the.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Gate, the biggest conversations about this game were about how
- 8:48Speaker 2: expensive the extra content was. Yeah, nothing solely focused on
- 8:57Speaker 2: the game itself, the creation side of that of the game, Like,
- 9:02Speaker 2: you didn't have highlights of those things that really out
- 9:07Speaker 2: We're outspoken enough to kind of shy away from the
- 9:12Speaker 2: Oh my god, the DLC is fifty nine to ninety
- 9:16Speaker 2: nine and one hundred dollars. If you want to buy
- 9:19Speaker 2: everything all at once, it's gonna cost you one hundred
- 9:21Speaker 2: and sixty dollars. Like it's it's It's not a great
- 9:25Speaker 2: way to go for your game, especially if you're wanting
- 9:28Speaker 2: to move away from something like a Jedi Survivor or
- 9:36Speaker 2: Jedi series, because you're like, okay, that is with a
- 9:40Speaker 2: Jedi protagonist. We're gonna try something else. Let's try something different,
- 9:44Speaker 2: and you fumble right out the gate with it. It's
- 9:47Speaker 2: not great for your future projects. I think this is
- 9:50Speaker 2: going to make things like Eclipse, which we haven't heard
- 9:54Speaker 2: a thing from in so many months. Yeah, it makes
- 9:59Speaker 2: it harder for people to say, hey, I'm still invested
- 10:03Speaker 2: in this game that still hasn't been made, but I
- 10:06Speaker 2: hope it's really good, you know. So it's it's gonna
- 10:09Speaker 2: be hard to see where Star Wars is in future gaming.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Yeah, Matt actually bought a copy of it so that
- 10:19Speaker 3: we could start kind of looking into it and everything,
- 10:22Speaker 3: and he said, it's like pretty decent. Like I watched
- 10:26Speaker 3: a little bit of it to like watch things as
- 10:29Speaker 3: it came along, and it it like, it feels pretty simple.
- 10:33Speaker 3: I'm just not like, I don't like the controls with
- 10:36Speaker 3: video games and stuff. So yeah, obviously not around our
- 10:43Speaker 3: TVs and stuff right now. So once we get back,
- 10:48Speaker 3: I we'll like look into it again and everything. But
- 10:54Speaker 3: the game pass thing was always stupid. It was always
- 10:57Speaker 3: super stupid to put brand new game on there. I mean,
- 11:02Speaker 3: like we saw like Deadpool and Wolverine, for instance, it
- 11:05Speaker 3: was announced and people were like, oh, it's gonna be
- 11:08Speaker 3: on Disney Plus October first when it goes to like
- 11:13Speaker 3: digital purchasing mm hmm, like and Disney quickly was like,
- 11:18Speaker 3: uh no, not happening, Like.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it's because they they need to make their money's worth.
- 11:26Speaker 2: And with things like this, I know that a lot
- 11:30Speaker 2: of video game companies are starting to push back on
- 11:35Speaker 2: the decisions for both PlayStation and Xbox. Unfortunately, Xbox has
- 11:41Speaker 2: uh kind of made it their like.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Mission.
- 11:47Speaker 2: No, it's it's they They've made it there like, hey, deal,
- 11:50Speaker 2: they've made it their deal breaker, like, hey, if you
- 11:52Speaker 2: want to make this game exclusive to Xbox, or if
- 11:55Speaker 2: you want to make this game for us, it needs
- 11:59Speaker 2: to be a day one game past thing. And it's
- 12:03Speaker 2: so funny because the head of Xbox has said time
- 12:08Speaker 2: and time again, hey, I don't think this game pass
- 12:11Speaker 2: thing is working out, like maybe we should try something different,
- 12:14Speaker 2: and then they don't try anything different, so I'm not
- 12:17Speaker 2: entirely sure what they plan on doing in the future.
- 12:21Speaker 4: So we'll see.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Yeah, it's definitely something to just continue to keep an
- 12:30Speaker 3: eye on because yeah, who knows, Ye, the camera is
- 12:35Speaker 3: super freaking me out. I'm sorry. But in.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Other video game non video game news, we have a
- 12:46Speaker 2: scoop via Daniel RpK which I think may not happen,
- 12:53Speaker 2: but maybe it will because we actually saw a photo
- 12:55Speaker 2: of something that really leans into the possibility of this
- 12:59Speaker 2: high happening. And it could have just been a tease
- 13:02Speaker 2: or you know, something silly. But the reports say that
- 13:06Speaker 2: Calkestis will reportedly make his live action debut in a
- 13:10Speaker 2: Disney Plus Star Wars project, and I immediately said, I
- 13:17Speaker 2: don't believe it. Travis was on the other boat saying, actually,
- 13:22Speaker 2: I think this is likely going to happen comparatively to
- 13:26Speaker 2: everything else.
- 13:27Speaker 4: And I want to hear your opinion, Katie.
- 13:29Speaker 2: How do you feel about this scoop in general, and like,
- 13:34Speaker 2: is it something that you think is more believable than
- 13:38Speaker 2: a movie or just continuing his his video game thing.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Well, like we had talked about this before and you
- 13:47Speaker 3: had even said like, oh, I want him to come, yeah,
- 13:51Speaker 3: the live action, which totally makes sense. I mean, Cameron
- 13:55Speaker 3: is an incredible actor. He did an incredible job as
- 13:58Speaker 3: Joker and Gothham. He loves the character of Calcastus, so
- 14:03Speaker 3: you think, oh, okay, makes perfect sense, like let's go
- 14:06Speaker 3: ahead and bring him in. So I think this makes sense.
- 14:11Speaker 3: And I mean we had even theorized, Okay, Mandalorian and
- 14:14Speaker 3: Grogu Air to the Empire movie like stuff like that,
- 14:18Speaker 3: where you could bring in additional resources and go, hey, like,
- 14:25Speaker 3: let's look at this in terms of Disney Plus projects.
- 14:33Speaker 3: I still think that leaves it open to interpretation because
- 14:36Speaker 3: I mean, Mandalorian and Grogu, I mean, come on, that's
- 14:38Speaker 3: a Disney Plus project. Like, let's just be real now.
- 14:43Speaker 2: It it is the Disney Plus project. But of course
- 14:46Speaker 2: it is going to be in theaters, So yes, I
- 14:54Speaker 2: am curious if they are really pushing and and this
- 14:59Speaker 2: is it an actual genuine question because I don't think
- 15:03Speaker 2: we've ever talked about it before either. But the idea
- 15:07Speaker 2: of is Mandalorian Grogu going to be one of those
- 15:15Speaker 2: that has to stay like hard within the budget or
- 15:19Speaker 2: is this gonna be a movie because of the subject
- 15:21Speaker 2: matter of it being the Mandalorian their swan song right
- 15:25Speaker 2: now for Star Wars? Is this a movie that can
- 15:30Speaker 2: kind of break the rule a little bit and be like, ah, well,
- 15:32Speaker 2: you know, if you go a little bit over budget,
- 15:34Speaker 2: it's fine. Because we just recently had a conversation in
- 15:39Speaker 2: the Guachat where I was a little salty about everything
- 15:42Speaker 2: that's been going on recently. But I was like, hey,
- 15:47Speaker 2: you know, the decisions that Disney has made recently have
- 15:51Speaker 2: not been super great, and I think, you know, there
- 15:57Speaker 2: it's a little suss. All the information that's coming out
- 15:59Speaker 2: very convenient me and everything else. So I would want
- 16:02Speaker 2: to know what the Mandalorian Grogu Like it is a
- 16:06Speaker 2: Disney Plus project, but I don't think they're looking at
- 16:10Speaker 2: as a Disney Plus project. I think this is a
- 16:13Speaker 2: high budgeted movie even though it's not high budget.
- 16:16Speaker 3: You know, all right, y'all, we're gonna hit our first
- 16:19Speaker 3: ad break and we will be right back in three
- 16:22Speaker 3: two one, And I agree, But I'm also like, you're
- 16:27Speaker 3: not gonna escape the Disney Plus dumb that you've roped
- 16:32Speaker 3: yourself into by having these characters start off on Disney Plus,
- 16:39Speaker 3: because I mean, we've talked about it, like, is it
- 16:42Speaker 3: going to come down to Mandalorian Grogu is just a
- 16:45Speaker 3: flashback movie where we get all the flashbacks from season one,
- 16:49Speaker 3: season two, and season three, to kind of catch us
- 16:51Speaker 3: up for the Air of the Empire movie, Like you
- 16:54Speaker 3: just can't escape that. You say, Oh, this is going
- 16:56Speaker 3: to theaters. People are gonna be like, oh, this is
- 16:58Speaker 3: a Star Wars movie. Oh, but I don't know who
- 17:01Speaker 3: these characters are. Oh, you're telling me I need to
- 17:04Speaker 3: go watch Disney Plus and subscribe to Disney Plus. Okay,
- 17:09Speaker 3: maybe I won't go see this in theaters, Like that's
- 17:11Speaker 3: the risk you're taking here. On top of the news
- 17:15Speaker 3: that RpK has also put out that there will be
- 17:19Speaker 3: no Mandalorian in season four. We are getting Mandalorian and
- 17:24Speaker 3: Grogu and that's going to be it. But Den Jarren
- 17:28Speaker 3: will still continue to make appearances in other projects. So
- 17:35Speaker 3: like a completely.
- 17:39Speaker 2: That's an interesting statement. The the the whole thing of
- 17:44Speaker 2: Mandalorian Grogu ending. We said that a long time ago, like, oh,
- 17:49Speaker 2: with Mandalorian Grogu, this is probably the end of the
- 17:51Speaker 2: Mandalorian TV show. Yeah, but the fact that he's gonna
- 17:56Speaker 2: be in other projects.
- 17:58Speaker 4: We said that.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Mandalorian Grogu and or possibly of course the uh Air
- 18:05Speaker 2: to the Empire movie, Yeah, would be his swan song,
- 18:11Speaker 2: and that's when he would possibly die as a character,
- 18:17Speaker 2: but you.
- 18:18Speaker 3: Think other project, Okay, Mandalorian and Grogu the Empire movie.
- 18:25Speaker 4: That's true. Yeah, so that.
- 18:27Speaker 3: Is another project, even though RBK's Scoop said other projects, like,
- 18:36Speaker 3: I think it's all really nilli right now. I'm apparently
- 18:40Speaker 3: a super big cynic right now in terms of all
- 18:43Speaker 3: things in life.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Well not only that, but us as Star Wars fans,
- 18:48Speaker 2: I think we should be cynics after the things that
- 18:50Speaker 2: have been happening recently. Like, yeah, it's it's really hard
- 18:54Speaker 2: to be that one positive individual. But I because you
- 19:01Speaker 2: were right, You're you're absolutely right. When we first talked
- 19:04Speaker 2: about Kyle Caastis getting a live action adaptation, I said, one,
- 19:09Speaker 2: I'm totally for it. But for the fact that this
- 19:13Speaker 2: scoop specifically says, debut in a Disney Plus Star Wars project,
- 19:18Speaker 2: I took that at face value, meaning Disney Plus. And
- 19:21Speaker 2: so I say, after what Lucasfilm and Star Wars and
- 19:27Speaker 2: Disney have been like looking at Star Wars at Disney Plus, like, no,
- 19:31Speaker 2: that's not possible, Like it's not a huge investment as
- 19:36Speaker 2: has money on.
- 19:37Speaker 3: You know what I've got money on, And it's something
- 19:40Speaker 3: that we've talked about before and it's he's going to
- 19:43Speaker 3: be in ah Soca season two, so we're going to
- 19:44Speaker 3: get past Mandalorian and Grogu, We're going to have the
- 19:48Speaker 3: third and final Jedi video game come out, and then
- 19:53Speaker 3: he's going to be in a Soca season two and
- 19:55Speaker 3: he's going to be working with Ezra to get back
- 19:58Speaker 3: to Pardia or pretty and get Ahsoka into being off
- 20:04Speaker 3: and back to our galaxy.
- 20:08Speaker 4: I dig it. I think that would be fun.
- 20:11Speaker 3: That's what I got money on.
- 20:14Speaker 2: I would say yes, because I think he would be
- 20:21Speaker 2: way too old and or dead maybe in the Race
- 20:28Speaker 2: Skywalker New trilogy.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:31Speaker 3: Well, and the other reason I put that up is
- 20:34Speaker 3: kind of knowing how the Jedi video games are in
- 20:37Speaker 3: the timeline. So you've got like ten A b Y
- 20:41Speaker 3: probably like or I'm sorry ten bby seven bby. I
- 20:46Speaker 3: think I'm not looking at a time whine off the
- 20:47Speaker 3: top of my head.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Just smile and wave play, Just smile and wave. It's
- 20:52Speaker 2: it's years in Star Wars the timeline. Yeah, just just
- 20:56Speaker 2: act like everything is good.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Yeah, but he's in the Rebellion and time frame. So
- 21:01Speaker 3: if you go five years into the future, you're in
- 21:03Speaker 3: the Rebels time frame. So you've probably got a Rebels
- 21:08Speaker 3: crew mission in the final season that we didn't get
- 21:13Speaker 3: on TV for obvious reasons. But you bring that Rebels
- 21:17Speaker 3: crew in and do a mission, and that's your introduction
- 21:21Speaker 3: to Ezra, and that's how Ezra knows, Hey, Kyle Kestus
- 21:25Speaker 3: is out there. That's the other Jedi I can talk to.
- 21:28Speaker 3: Let me go find him so he can help me.
- 21:31Speaker 2: I like that because in the first Jedi game we
- 21:38Speaker 2: did meet Saw exactly, and we have seen Saw in
- 21:45Speaker 2: so many different parts of his life, and he was
- 21:48Speaker 2: in Rebels, and so I think that makes perfect sense
- 21:52Speaker 2: for them to have missions the way that they did,
- 21:56Speaker 2: completely across the galaxy at times. Yeah, I think that
- 22:01Speaker 2: makes total sense that they would bump into each other eventually,
- 22:05Speaker 2: and of course them being quiet about it would make
- 22:08Speaker 2: even more sense because of how scarce the Jedi needed
- 22:11Speaker 2: to be.
- 22:12Speaker 4: So yeah, I'm for it.
- 22:15Speaker 3: And since you brought it up, we had We didn't
- 22:17Speaker 3: put this on the news, but it's been two weeks
- 22:20Speaker 3: since we've talked for regular episodes, and so one of
- 22:27Speaker 3: the things that came out was that The Acolyte was
- 22:31Speaker 3: not at its budget of one hundred and eighty million.
- 22:33Speaker 3: It was actually at two hundred and thirty million dollars,
- 22:37Speaker 3: which is still in my opinion, yes, it's not where
- 22:43Speaker 3: TV needs to be. But you can't tell me that
- 22:48Speaker 3: spending three hundred million dollars on the Force Awakens for
- 22:54Speaker 3: two hours and fifteen minutes versus five hours.
- 23:01Speaker 4: Oh no, I I am I don't.
- 23:03Speaker 2: I totally am on yours. I'm on your side because
- 23:09Speaker 2: again you can look at I can't even remember what
- 23:14Speaker 2: Loki season two budget was, but like we know that
- 23:18Speaker 2: early MCU projects on Disney, plus we're a shit ton
- 23:24Speaker 2: of money. People were like, oh, they're taking movie budgets
- 23:26Speaker 2: and putting it into TV shows.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Yeah. I want to say Mandalorian was like two fifty it.
- 23:33Speaker 4: I would not be surprised at all.
- 23:37Speaker 2: And Loki, I will I.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Have season two budget revealed one hundred and forty one
- 23:42Speaker 3: point three million dollars.
- 23:45Speaker 2: I will say this. If two hundred is the like, Hey,
- 23:52Speaker 2: this is what's keeping streaming shows to eight episodes a season,
- 23:58Speaker 2: then cut it. Cut cut the budget if it means
- 24:01Speaker 2: that we can get more episodes in a season. That
- 24:05Speaker 2: doesn't make sense logically, but hey, if that's how it's
- 24:09Speaker 2: gonna be, then that's what it's going to be I
- 24:12Speaker 2: just I need somebody.
- 24:17Speaker 4: I'm I am.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Freaking Michael Scott from the office explain it to me
- 24:25Speaker 2: like I'm five, because I feel like that's what I
- 24:29Speaker 2: need for some of these things. As far as the
- 24:31Speaker 2: budget and stuff goes.
- 24:33Speaker 3: So I said Mandalorian was three hundred million, it was
- 24:37Speaker 3: actually one hundred and twenty million, And that is apparently
- 24:40Speaker 3: the budget for the Mandalorian and Grogu, which makes sense.
- 24:43Speaker 3: You have all the production already set up like there's
- 24:47Speaker 3: no need for it, and that doesn't The Mandorian season
- 24:51Speaker 3: one got a very high marketing budget because it was
- 24:54Speaker 3: part of the Disney Plus Watch, which is probably why
- 24:57Speaker 3: I was thinking three hundred million obi wan with six
- 25:03Speaker 3: episodes with one hundred and fifty million. So yes, the
- 25:05Speaker 3: Acolyte is up there, but it also was scouting real locations.
- 25:11Speaker 3: And the Forbes article also said one of the problems
- 25:15Speaker 3: was that they hired actual staff instead of freelancers for
- 25:20Speaker 3: total cost of twenty six million dollars. Okay, so you
- 25:24Speaker 3: paid your people and got them health insurance.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Yeah, and that is always going to be an argument,
- 25:31Speaker 2: a valid argument. By the way, I'm not saying that
- 25:34Speaker 2: to be like Oh, okay, it's it's not that big
- 25:36Speaker 2: of a deal here. No, it is a valid argument
- 25:40Speaker 2: that people need to understand. Hey, people need to have
- 25:44Speaker 2: a livable wage and health insurance. Those are two very
- 25:48Speaker 2: important things that need to happen.
- 25:52Speaker 3: And so the Acolyte started filming on the tail end
- 25:57Speaker 3: of when COVID was a huge mess. Yes, and then
- 26:04Speaker 3: it had to deal with a strike in the middle
- 26:06Speaker 3: of it. So you sat there waiting for these actors
- 26:09Speaker 3: to be able to promote the project, like, yes, your
- 26:13Speaker 3: budget balloon balloons, like Mission Impossible's budget eight and nine ballooned,
- 26:20Speaker 3: Like these things happen, like if this is what you're
- 26:23Speaker 3: dealing with. So the whole budget argument, and especially like
- 26:27Speaker 3: we talked about in the gua chat, Yes, I can
- 26:30Speaker 3: hear the budget concerns. Okay, I fully admit. Okay, if
- 26:33Speaker 3: you're over budgets, then yes, that's a problem season two.
- 26:37Speaker 3: It's not gonna cost you that much more money, Like
- 26:40Speaker 3: it's because all your locations, all your sets are already done,
- 26:44Speaker 3: like so that's easy for me to see. But the
- 26:47Speaker 3: fact of the matter is is that if you couldn't
- 26:50Speaker 3: put this information out when the show got canceled, originally
- 26:56Speaker 3: why a month later?
- 26:58Speaker 2: And that's what got me off fired up when we
- 27:01Speaker 2: were talking about it. It was the fact that Agatha
- 27:03Speaker 2: all along started to get negative press over worldwide viewership
- 27:10Speaker 2: and worldwide viewership that wasn't worldwide. I can't remember exactly
- 27:15Speaker 2: what the semantics were for it, but for the fact
- 27:18Speaker 2: that just coincidentally, after all of this talk of Agatha
- 27:22Speaker 2: not doing great. Oh, by the way, Acolyte didn't do
- 27:27Speaker 2: all that great either on its budget. It's like, that
- 27:31Speaker 2: has nothing to do with Agatha right now, Why are
- 27:34Speaker 2: you throwing this information out at me right now?
- 27:37Speaker 3: It feels like a distraction technique. And yes, Agatha costs
- 27:40Speaker 3: way less money than Accolade did. I'm fully giving that
- 27:44Speaker 3: the credit it deserves. Different productions, different environments to set up,
- 27:50Speaker 3: and it's just it blows my mind.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Yeah, and I also, I will also be one decay
- 28:00Speaker 2: this and people can argue with me and want to
- 28:03Speaker 2: argue with me, I say, just argue with a wall.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Different shows entangled in different genres, based on the content
- 28:14Speaker 2: that are in those shows should have widely different budgets.
- 28:20Speaker 2: You should not be You should not be saying, hey,
- 28:24Speaker 2: Agatha was a forty seven I'm just throwing a number
- 28:28Speaker 2: out there, forty seven million dollar budget. Let's make a
- 28:32Speaker 2: Star Wars show with forty seven million dollars. That's like
- 28:37Speaker 2: people could say, yeah, that's genius, but it's not to
- 28:43Speaker 2: a certain degree. I understand why it would be genius
- 28:46Speaker 2: because then you're like, oh man, we're really profiting off
- 28:48Speaker 2: of this. Yeah, but at the same time, you need
- 28:51Speaker 2: to think about the quality of the IP that you
- 28:55Speaker 2: were in control of, like.
- 28:57Speaker 3: The quality, but also like the like you said, different environments.
- 29:02Speaker 3: So I get this set in modern day society. It's
- 29:05Speaker 3: not in a science fiction realm.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Yeah, not only that, but like suburban area, like it's
- 29:12Speaker 2: very easy to access in legit real world, whereas Star Wars,
- 29:20Speaker 2: a made up galaxy with a lot of alien stuff,
- 29:26Speaker 2: needs to have a bigger budget for props, for the
- 29:32Speaker 2: scenery for everything.
- 29:36Speaker 3: And and Or season one had a budget of two
- 29:38Speaker 3: hundred and fifty million. But both shows look incredible.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Yes, Like, so.
- 29:49Speaker 3: If the problem is is that, Okay, these aren't making
- 29:52Speaker 3: enough money, well, yes, we could have told you that
- 29:54Speaker 3: the streaming realm is not going to make you money,
- 29:58Speaker 3: Like it's not. So if you should have made the
- 30:01Speaker 3: Accolyte into a movie and done a movie budget for it.
- 30:08Speaker 3: So well, there's your there's your movie budget.
- 30:11Speaker 2: So I also need to look at this real quick
- 30:15Speaker 2: because a lot of people were also talking about how
- 30:19Speaker 2: genius the Penguin Show is. So from here it is
- 30:27Speaker 2: saying that Penguin is one hundred and eighty million. So again,
- 30:32Speaker 2: though different realm of things, this also.
- 30:37Speaker 4: Debuts on HBO.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Yes, sign your cast onto HBO Max, so it airs
- 30:44Speaker 2: at the same time as HBO and HBO Max. That
- 30:49Speaker 2: you entangle things like commercials and advertisement and monetization in
- 30:58Speaker 2: different realms in that case, So I have to ask
- 31:02Speaker 2: you this because I'm or Penguin right now, neither of I.
- 31:08Speaker 2: I haven't seen a single episode of Penguin yet, and
- 31:11Speaker 2: I've only seen the first episode of Agatha.
- 31:13Speaker 4: But what I'm going to ask you is.
- 31:17Speaker 2: We have seen time and time again viewership of HBO
- 31:24Speaker 2: shows make bookoos of numbers. They pop off, and you know,
- 31:33Speaker 2: there's a what's the phrasing I'm looking for? There is
- 31:40Speaker 2: a mindset, a a set in stone idea for what
- 31:47Speaker 2: an HBO show should be, right as far as the
- 31:52Speaker 2: quality and.
- 31:54Speaker 3: Everything else us The matter is is Penguin was added
- 31:57Speaker 3: as an HBO show after it was already filmed. So
- 32:01Speaker 3: this is Zaslov trying to integrate more things into HBO
- 32:06Speaker 3: and make the HBO money. However, I've seen the first
- 32:10Speaker 3: episode of Penguin and it looks incredible.
- 32:13Speaker 2: And what I'm what I'm asking you is, is is
- 32:20Speaker 2: the route to go? And I know, of course we've
- 32:24Speaker 2: we've seen it happen with with and Or, but and
- 32:29Speaker 2: Or went on to FX. I believe right it was
- 32:34Speaker 2: FX as it went on it went on to FX.
- 32:37Speaker 2: It was advertised as, hey, the first three episodes are here.
- 32:41Speaker 2: If you want to watch the rest, you have to
- 32:43Speaker 2: subscribe to Disney Plus. Do they go the HBO HBO
- 32:48Speaker 2: Max route and say, hey, every Star Wars show that
- 32:53Speaker 2: we create is now going to debut on FX and
- 32:58Speaker 2: Disney Plus at the same time. Is that something that
- 33:01Speaker 2: Disney should consider doing in order to reach the numbers
- 33:07Speaker 2: that they want as well as getting the monetization that
- 33:10Speaker 2: they want.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Maybe that could potentially be a very good idea and
- 33:18Speaker 3: just capitalizing on some ad revenue. I mean, I've got
- 33:22Speaker 3: Disney ads right now, so it's like, eh, whatever, Yeah,
- 33:29Speaker 3: I could to really see that because that is Disney's
- 33:33Speaker 3: HBO for all intents and purposes.
- 33:35Speaker 2: So yeah, and I was trying to think of like
- 33:38Speaker 2: where that would be. And I assume because and Or
- 33:41Speaker 2: went to FX, that that's where it would be. You
- 33:45Speaker 2: do have things like Gosh, I don't even know what
- 33:49Speaker 2: they call it nowadays, but it was for the longest
- 33:52Speaker 2: time ABC Family. Yeah, I don't know what it is
- 33:55Speaker 2: called nowadays, But like, I don't know if that would
- 33:59Speaker 2: necessarily be the right place for the high budget shows.
- 34:06Speaker 2: I think FX is that because you also have things
- 34:09Speaker 2: like Justify and Fargo and again those set in stone
- 34:17Speaker 2: high quality type of shows on FX, So I think
- 34:22Speaker 2: that might be the route to go if they were
- 34:24Speaker 2: to go in that route. I am going to go
- 34:28Speaker 2: ahead and ask you guys that are listening now, like,
- 34:30Speaker 2: do you do you think that is a good idea?
- 34:35Speaker 2: Do you think that they should go into more of
- 34:39Speaker 2: a cable network as far as like Stars or you know,
- 34:43Speaker 2: one of those channels as well. I don't Stars was
- 34:47Speaker 2: the first thing I went to. I have no idea
- 34:49Speaker 2: who owns that, by the way, but it's it's just
- 34:51Speaker 2: an interesting thought.
- 34:53Speaker 4: Now.
- 34:54Speaker 2: I don't like the walking backwards into cable, Like I
- 35:01Speaker 2: hate the idea of cable because it was the whole
- 35:04Speaker 2: I like, the whole reason why I did Netflix and
- 35:07Speaker 2: streaming was, Hey, I don't have to watch commercials and
- 35:09Speaker 2: I don't have to wait for the next episode.
- 35:13Speaker 4: It kind of annoys.
- 35:14Speaker 2: Me that there is live TV on Disney Plus, Like
- 35:19Speaker 2: I click it just for Amber Lynne to be able
- 35:23Speaker 2: to watch multiple shows without me having to switch through
- 35:26Speaker 2: the channels. But like, at the same time, I'm just like,
- 35:30Speaker 2: we could just binge one whole show and be silly
- 35:33Speaker 2: and watch this one show. I don't need to watch
- 35:36Speaker 2: all of whatever you program the live to be because
- 35:40Speaker 2: maybe I don't want to watch The Little Mermaid right now,
- 35:43Speaker 2: or maybe I don't want to watch Spider Man right now.
- 35:45Speaker 2: I want to watch something else. So it's for me.
- 35:49Speaker 2: I don't like the change to cable, but maybe that
- 35:52Speaker 2: is the direction they go in order to get the
- 35:54Speaker 2: ad revenue that they want.
- 35:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean we heard, I know when cable was
- 36:03Speaker 3: closing up. Everybody was like, oh, like, yes, they make
- 36:08Speaker 3: bukuos up money, but the cable programs get most of
- 36:12Speaker 3: that money. Yeah, And then so that's why everybody went streaming.
- 36:17Speaker 3: But everybody knew streaming was not gonna get you the
- 36:20Speaker 3: same amount of money. And it's clear because the cost
- 36:24Speaker 3: of streaming services just keeps climbing.
- 36:28Speaker 2: So yeah, well see last thing on our news docket, Uh,
- 36:38Speaker 2: George Lucas has well, well we said that you were
- 36:42Speaker 2: gonna lean us into this one, so go ahead and and.
- 36:46Speaker 4: There so.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Hang on, Sorry I had to pull it back up
- 36:52Speaker 3: because okay, So Chris Castellani uh did an interview was
- 37:01Speaker 3: with prequel trilogy Star Wars stunt coordinator Nick Gilliard and
- 37:08Speaker 3: h Gilliard revealed a lot of exciting, never before heard
- 37:12Speaker 3: details about the prequel trilogy. This interview was coagulated into
- 37:19Speaker 3: text because it's a YouTube interview, but it was done
- 37:21Speaker 3: by the Hollo Files, so you can go check it
- 37:25Speaker 3: out there. But the stunt coordinator revealed that George Lucas
- 37:31Speaker 3: filmed so much footage for the prequels that there are
- 37:34Speaker 3: three more movies in footage left on the cutting room
- 37:37Speaker 3: floor across the three films.
- 37:40Speaker 2: I need, like I whatever they because I still I
- 37:47Speaker 2: don't have that kind of time to do this.
- 37:49Speaker 4: People.
- 37:49Speaker 2: I know people, people. Every single time I say it,
- 37:52Speaker 2: people are like, you need to watch it one day,
- 37:55Speaker 2: Like just one day, just watch all three, the extended
- 37:58Speaker 2: versions of Lord the Rings trilogy. I don't have the time,
- 38:03Speaker 2: but if you were to tell me, Hey, Clay, they
- 38:07Speaker 2: have now made three extended versions of episode one, two,
- 38:13Speaker 2: and three. I'm calling in from work, like I am
- 38:17Speaker 2: watching those movies because it's it's it's great to think about.
- 38:24Speaker 2: For one, we have been able to experience some of
- 38:28Speaker 2: what people speculate or in these films through the books
- 38:35Speaker 2: that we've been reading. So you know, people are like,
- 38:39Speaker 2: was there more like Padawan Kenobi? It's like, oh, well,
- 38:42Speaker 2: we've had like three books of that already, so we've
- 38:45Speaker 2: got to experience a little bit of that. And the
- 38:47Speaker 2: relationship between Anakin and Obi Wan Kenobi, well we have
- 38:52Speaker 2: brotherhood for that. So, like we there are things out there,
- 38:56Speaker 2: but just being able to see it, I think it
- 38:57Speaker 2: would be really fun to experience.
- 39:01Speaker 3: And like I it's definitely not going to be like, oh,
- 39:05Speaker 3: here's three additional movies, like this is additional footage for
- 39:10Speaker 3: the So, like you said, extended cuts on and I
- 39:15Speaker 3: mean this interview basically confirms the rumors that the original
- 39:21Speaker 3: cut for Revenge of the Set was over four hours long.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Yeah, but that that gets me excited now. I did
- 39:30Speaker 2: not like, and again, everybody can go argue at a wall.
- 39:36Speaker 2: I was not a huge fan of the length of
- 39:40Speaker 2: Zack Snyder's Justice League. I liked Zack Snyder's Justice League,
- 39:44Speaker 2: but I didn't like the length. Yes Star Wars because
- 39:49Speaker 2: of Katie converting me to this religion, I could totally
- 39:55Speaker 2: sit down and watch a four hours like I could
- 39:58Speaker 2: sit down and watch a four hour like binge of
- 40:01Speaker 2: Star Wars. He shows I can do one movie like.
- 40:04Speaker 3: Yeah for sure, and it's like as long as it's
- 40:09Speaker 3: from home, right, And then the benefit of HBO Max
- 40:13Speaker 3: with Zack Snyder's Justice League is you could pause it
- 40:17Speaker 3: exactly and taken in our mission to go back. He
- 40:22Speaker 3: also revealed information about the iconic battle between Anakin and
- 40:26Speaker 3: Obi Wan. A version of the scene that was film
- 40:30Speaker 3: featured Anakin grabbing obi Wan from the throat, disarming him
- 40:34Speaker 3: and saying I'm really sorry you have to be killed.
- 40:37Speaker 3: Anakin then proceeded to try to cut Obi Wan's head off,
- 40:40Speaker 3: a move which was then deflected by obi Wan to
- 40:43Speaker 3: cut Anakin's arms off. Gilliard also stated that he and
- 40:47Speaker 3: the team hated the high ground scene in Revenge of
- 40:52Speaker 3: the Sith and that they campaigned as hard as they
- 40:56Speaker 3: could to get it changed, but George Lucas was having
- 40:59Speaker 3: none of it.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Uh.
- 41:01Speaker 3: He believes the scene in the final cut with Steven
- 41:04Speaker 3: Spielberg's idea.
- 41:06Speaker 2: So a little bit of fun video game knowledge and uh,
- 41:12Speaker 2: spoilers for people who haven't played the Revenge of the
- 41:15Speaker 2: Sith video game adaptation. Uh, there is a what if
- 41:20Speaker 2: version of that ending where Anakin does kill Obi Wan
- 41:26Speaker 2: at the end of that game or of that of
- 41:29Speaker 2: that scene, So that version you do get to see
- 41:34Speaker 2: in video game form.
- 41:36Speaker 4: Uh.
- 41:36Speaker 2: So it's out there if people want to. I think
- 41:40Speaker 2: you can still play it on PC and stuff. I
- 41:42Speaker 2: don't know if if you can find it on the
- 41:44Speaker 2: original Xbox and the PlayStation three.
- 41:47Speaker 4: But yeah, it's it's. It's.
- 41:49Speaker 2: As soon as you started talking about it, I was like,
- 41:50Speaker 2: holy crap, I've seen that it's it's in a video game.
- 41:54Speaker 2: But yeah, I was really surprised with the and and
- 41:57Speaker 2: I shouldn't be surprised because we know that George Lucas
- 42:01Speaker 2: and Steven Spielberg have a very good relationship in Hollywood
- 42:05Speaker 2: and and they're good film buddies.
- 42:07Speaker 3: So.
- 42:10Speaker 2: It shouldn't surprise me. But at the same time, I'm like,
- 42:13Speaker 2: of all people, Steven Spielberg, Okay, sure, okay, fine, but
- 42:19Speaker 2: I think one of the things that was really surprising
- 42:22Speaker 2: to me.
- 42:24Speaker 4: Was the.
- 42:27Speaker 2: Gruesome Jedi temple fight that was revealed to be in
- 42:33Speaker 2: the original cut of Revende of the Sith. So Gillard
- 42:39Speaker 2: played the Jedi Sindreleig in Revenge of the Sith and
- 42:43Speaker 2: is briefly seen dueling a Hayden Christensen's Anagain Skywalker via hologram.
- 42:48Speaker 2: Of course, this I assume would be the scene. And
- 42:51Speaker 2: you can even see it in the clip is where
- 42:56Speaker 2: Yoda and Obi Wan are looking at the footage and
- 42:59Speaker 2: Yoda's like, you know, just see it for yourself.
- 43:01Speaker 4: Whatever.
- 43:02Speaker 2: Yeah, and Gillard provided new details about the original version
- 43:06Speaker 2: of this scene that were filmed, and it can stabs
- 43:09Speaker 2: a small girl right through the throat, holds her by
- 43:13Speaker 2: it while he grabs another one.
- 43:16Speaker 4: Uh.
- 43:16Speaker 2: He says, it is nasty. It was nasty.
- 43:20Speaker 3: I'm assuming that was cut because they didn't want to
- 43:24Speaker 3: raided ar cut.
- 43:26Speaker 2: Yeah, But like, and that's it's so tricky because if
- 43:32Speaker 2: you look at the semantics of like what makes a
- 43:37Speaker 2: rated R film, as far as like the gore, the blood,
- 43:41Speaker 2: the violence, that dah duh. You can kind of cheat
- 43:45Speaker 2: with Star Wars because it's like, oh, it solders everything,
- 43:49Speaker 2: so it's like, yeah, there's no blood, there's no gore.
- 43:52Speaker 2: It's just very graphic in the sense of like you're
- 43:56Speaker 2: you know, just slicing through meats, you know, and that's
- 44:00Speaker 2: the thing, like it was a child, it's a padawan
- 44:03Speaker 2: that you're doing this too. So like, I don't know
- 44:07Speaker 2: how you get away with that, And I think it's
- 44:11Speaker 2: smart for them to cut it. And I would even
- 44:13Speaker 2: say if for some reason, George Lucas one day does say, hey,
- 44:19Speaker 2: we're making these three extended cuts, I don't think you
- 44:22Speaker 2: even put it in there.
- 44:24Speaker 3: No, you don't show that kind of stuff, Like it's
- 44:28Speaker 3: enough that it's insinuated.
- 44:31Speaker 2: I would say, make the scene to the point where
- 44:37Speaker 2: you have to cut to Obi Wan, because there's a
- 44:40Speaker 2: scene where obi Wan like covers his mouth because he's
- 44:43Speaker 2: in like like shock that is happening. Yeah, that's where
- 44:46Speaker 2: you make the cut to Obi Wan, like right before
- 44:48Speaker 2: you see the actual stab and then go back to
- 44:51Speaker 2: the fight and whatever. So I think that you can
- 44:54Speaker 2: do a little bit of movie magic to make the
- 44:57Speaker 2: scene at least have the weight of it being like
- 45:01Speaker 2: holy crap, like we're actually seeing a little bit more
- 45:04Speaker 2: than we did in the original version.
- 45:07Speaker 4: Yeah, to make it worth it.
- 45:08Speaker 3: You know, I don't think Disney would put that out
- 45:11Speaker 3: because Lucas doesn't own the footage now, so Disney would
- 45:15Speaker 3: have to make a choice to do that. But Gilliard
- 45:19Speaker 3: also explained that Lucas was involved in every department and
- 45:24Speaker 3: making the prequels, from cinematography, visual effects, art direction, fight choreography,
- 45:29Speaker 3: costume design, sound design, production design, casting and acting and
- 45:34Speaker 3: more so, he was incredibly involved. This was a passion
- 45:38Speaker 3: project for him. People.
- 45:40Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's where I have to ask, do we
- 45:46Speaker 2: think Baloney is doing this?
- 45:49Speaker 4: Is he a part of every step?
- 45:51Speaker 3: No?
- 45:53Speaker 2: Should he be involved in every step? Because that's something
- 45:55Speaker 2: we also didn't talk about the decision. And wasn't it
- 46:01Speaker 2: like sometime last week that we saw that he's going.
- 46:06Speaker 2: I know we were talking about it in the in
- 46:08Speaker 2: our Star Wars chat.
- 46:09Speaker 4: Where was it? Where was it? Oh?
- 46:13Speaker 2: Shoot, we both me and Snell were going back and
- 46:20Speaker 2: forth about the Filony stuff.
- 46:29Speaker 3: We're gonna go into our second ad break and we'll
- 46:33Speaker 3: be right back.
- 46:34Speaker 2: Dave Filoni being uh the goalkeeper of like how everything's
- 46:40Speaker 2: supposed to line up and everything. I mean, we've heard
- 46:42Speaker 2: about this before, about him being the last man to
- 46:46Speaker 2: be like, hey, yes this happens, or hey no, this
- 46:48Speaker 2: doesn't happen. So he's definitely the guy in the chair
- 46:54Speaker 2: for all things Star Wars, but he's not there at
- 46:58Speaker 2: every step, and I think that needs to change. I
- 47:01Speaker 2: think if he wants to be the guy in the chair,
- 47:04Speaker 2: he's got.
- 47:04Speaker 3: To be there all the time, correct, And like you
- 47:09Speaker 3: look at it in people for Marvel. Sorry, y'all had
- 47:14Speaker 3: to change position, and now the camera's just freaking out.
- 47:18Speaker 3: You look at Marvel, and Marvel has all of this
- 47:23Speaker 3: stuff to go off of, and yes they're creating new
- 47:25Speaker 3: characters or modifying characters, but they still have things to
- 47:30Speaker 3: go Okay, this is what Wanda's costume should look like,
- 47:35Speaker 3: and being able to reference that and knock up different versions.
- 47:39Speaker 3: Where Star Wars doesn't have a lot of visual interpretation,
- 47:43Speaker 3: it's a lot of written interpretation. So costume designers need
- 47:47Speaker 3: a little bit of help. I wouldn't say being involved
- 47:50Speaker 3: in like, oh, this is how this Twilight should dress,
- 47:53Speaker 3: but like looking at the design and going okay, yes
- 47:58Speaker 3: that passes, like yeah, but not like, hey, let's pick
- 48:02Speaker 3: out every single piece of clothing. Like, yeah, we know
- 48:07Speaker 3: Lucas very much wanted to make the Prequels as a
- 48:10Speaker 3: passion project, and that's what he did, and there's not
- 48:14Speaker 3: a problem with that. But I think they're two different people,
- 48:19Speaker 3: and Felony's involved in way too much nowadays to go, hey,
- 48:23Speaker 3: let's get down into the nitty gritty and be involved
- 48:26Speaker 3: in every decision. Yeah, like that's just not something one
- 48:29Speaker 3: person can do.
- 48:32Speaker 2: One hundred percent. But yeah, that seems to be.
- 48:39Speaker 4: It for the news.
- 48:42Speaker 2: And now is our aftermath.
- 48:47Speaker 3: Review after Math Life Debt.
- 48:51Speaker 2: Yes, Aftermath Life Debt. I was typing the title of
- 48:57Speaker 2: this live stream and by the way, guys, I'm running
- 49:00Speaker 2: off of forty five minutes of sleep. I did not
- 49:02Speaker 2: sleep very well last night, and I will and I
- 49:06Speaker 2: was just typing along and then I looked and I
- 49:09Speaker 2: typed in after Life Math Debt and I'm like, hold on,
- 49:17Speaker 2: And I had to look at it for a while,
- 49:19Speaker 2: and I.
- 49:19Speaker 4: Was like, this isn't right.
- 49:21Speaker 2: Backspace backspace, backspace after Math Life Debt. Okay, So, guys,
- 49:27Speaker 2: Katie and I when we we it's been a while
- 49:30Speaker 2: since we finished this book. Already we were talking and
- 49:35Speaker 2: we're like, is.
- 49:37Speaker 4: This any better than what we read on the Like,
- 49:42Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 49:44Speaker 2: And I will say this, I think that Chuck wen
- 49:48Speaker 2: Digg took criticism.
- 49:51Speaker 4: He's he had to.
- 49:53Speaker 2: I think he saw criticism of the first book, and
- 49:57Speaker 2: he was like, how do I fix this?
- 49:59Speaker 4: Oh?
- 50:00Speaker 2: Oh, I know, I'll take a part of the hero
- 50:07Speaker 2: trio and put it as a selling point of this book.
- 50:15Speaker 2: And boom, Han Solo, Huwbacca, Princess Leah being actual somewhat
- 50:24Speaker 2: more of a vocal piece of this.
- 50:26Speaker 3: So I hate to break it to you. I don't
- 50:30Speaker 3: think he took any fan criticism.
- 50:33Speaker 2: Oh no. I I was giving him the benefit of
- 50:36Speaker 2: the doubt by saying those moments were okay, but the
- 50:45Speaker 2: book overall, Katie, I was reading the Wikipedia today and
- 50:51Speaker 2: I'm like, I don't remember any of this because I
- 50:55Speaker 2: don't care about this book. Like it's it's so, it's
- 51:00Speaker 2: so rough, it is so the first book.
- 51:06Speaker 3: Sorry guys, again, trying to make things work. So the
- 51:11Speaker 3: first book was published in September of twenty fifteen. This
- 51:16Speaker 3: book was published July of twenty sixteen, so it was
- 51:22Speaker 3: already off to the printers.
- 51:25Speaker 2: It was already in production while the first one was out.
- 51:29Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I would agree. I think this one is
- 51:34Speaker 3: slightly better simply because we don't have to play introduce
- 51:39Speaker 3: the character.
- 51:40Speaker 2: Yes, I think that is something that it does very
- 51:43Speaker 2: very well.
- 51:44Speaker 4: And I will say this.
- 51:47Speaker 2: Personally, I think that oh gosh, I forgot his name
- 51:53Speaker 2: when we first did the first review, Sinjiir.
- 51:57Speaker 4: Yes, the idea.
- 51:59Speaker 2: Love to say sinears character growth from the first one
- 52:06Speaker 2: to this one is massive in the sense of in
- 52:11Speaker 2: the first one we see him like he has a
- 52:14Speaker 2: little bit of a backbone, but like he's still like
- 52:17Speaker 2: very skittish and he's like, ah, like I don't know
- 52:20Speaker 2: what to do here. He's like stabbing people in the
- 52:24Speaker 2: back and like he's like killing people and like holy crap,
- 52:30Speaker 2: like he was doing some dark stuff and I was like, oh,
- 52:32Speaker 2: like I can get behind this cool. I get that
- 52:37Speaker 2: it's everything around it that is not so great, Like
- 52:41Speaker 2: and again you have you have people like and I
- 52:45Speaker 2: say people ironically, mister bones. He's a character that I
- 52:50Speaker 2: think like he's just one of those characters that every
- 52:54Speaker 2: Star Wars book needs to have that's like, Hey, where's
- 52:57Speaker 2: the quirky droid that everybody's gonna fall in love with Oh,
- 53:01Speaker 2: that's mister Bones. Like, that's just every Star Wars project.
- 53:06Speaker 2: It's it's every Star Wars project. You're gonna find a
- 53:10Speaker 2: quirky whether he's verbal or non verbal droid, You're gonna
- 53:15Speaker 2: find a quirky droid in a Star Wars project. It's
- 53:17Speaker 2: just it's the number one role. And I do I
- 53:22Speaker 2: really love mister Bones because he is the comic relief
- 53:26Speaker 2: when you didn't need comic relief, and it's there. But
- 53:33Speaker 2: also he has some really badass moments sometimes. My question
- 53:39Speaker 2: to you is there is one moment that should have
- 53:45Speaker 2: been a huge plot twist that we all saw mile away,
- 53:53Speaker 2: or at least I would hope people saw this a
- 53:55Speaker 2: mile away because I immediately I'm like, Nope, don't believe it.
- 54:02Speaker 2: I something's gonna happen, and I think I know what's
- 54:05Speaker 2: gonna happen.
- 54:07Speaker 5: We see the husband, yes, of of no, no, and
- 54:15Speaker 5: of course her son and they we learned very early
- 54:18Speaker 5: on in the in the last book.
- 54:20Speaker 4: That he was missing.
- 54:23Speaker 3: He was.
- 54:27Speaker 4: We didn't know.
- 54:28Speaker 2: If he was captured or what in all of these
- 54:30Speaker 2: different things. We get that answer here and he gets saved.
- 54:35Speaker 3: M hm.
- 54:37Speaker 4: I need to know, Katie.
- 54:38Speaker 2: I know, and I won't judge you for it if
- 54:42Speaker 2: it did surprise you, because it's like, okay, yeah, cool,
- 54:47Speaker 2: like it.
- 54:48Speaker 4: The scene kind of showed it like coming. But how
- 54:53Speaker 4: did How did.
- 54:54Speaker 2: You feel about the scene where we see Nora's husband
- 55:00Speaker 2: turn on the Republic.
- 55:05Speaker 3: I definitely saw it coming. I knew it was going
- 55:08Speaker 3: to happen, because again, I've read the Wikipedia pages before
- 55:12Speaker 3: to kind of give myself the story because I was
- 55:16Speaker 3: having so many issues getting through Aftermath itself, so I
- 55:24Speaker 3: knew it was coming. But it was very obvious from
- 55:27Speaker 3: the fact that when we were talking like on Kashik
- 55:32Speaker 3: and Han was like, oh, they have chips so they
- 55:35Speaker 3: can control the wookies and like do things and everything.
- 55:38Speaker 3: And then it's like okay, and then all these prisoners
- 55:44Speaker 3: managed to get picked up from I think it was
- 55:47Speaker 3: Kashik and Norris husband his muggam, and I was like, yeah.
- 55:53Speaker 3: But I've also read the x Wing series, which the
- 55:57Speaker 3: x Wing series does something very very similar, very similar,
- 56:02Speaker 3: uh where the Lusanka with iceard uh yasan i Sard.
- 56:10Speaker 3: She does not used chips. She torments her captives and
- 56:17Speaker 3: basically makes them secret agents where they can then be
- 56:24Speaker 3: activated and then they go and kill their target basically,
- 56:32Speaker 3: so it was something very similar. I felt like where
- 56:40Speaker 3: when Dig was basically like, Okay, what can I do
- 56:43Speaker 3: here to kind of draw up this tension and make
- 56:46Speaker 3: this kind of work. So it was very obvious. I
- 56:53Speaker 3: felt like, especially if you've read the X Wing series,
- 56:57Speaker 3: but also you haven't read the x Wing series and
- 56:59Speaker 3: you were like, oh, this is very obvious.
- 57:01Speaker 4: Oh yeah, what did.
- 57:03Speaker 3: You think about Galias Rax because he is a prominent
- 57:07Speaker 3: figure in the comic series that started up this week,
- 57:12Speaker 3: Ras Racks.
- 57:14Speaker 4: I'm trying to remember.
- 57:15Speaker 3: Rax is the fleet admiral who is secretly controlling Sloan,
- 57:19Speaker 3: even though Sloan is technically in charge of.
- 57:22Speaker 2: Yes, yes, I I dug more than I thought I would.
- 57:29Speaker 2: And I think this is more so just because she
- 57:32Speaker 2: has been such an interesting character since we've read her
- 57:35Speaker 2: in other stories as well. I really like Sloan, and
- 57:39Speaker 2: I think that every story attached to her does intrigue
- 57:44Speaker 2: me a little bit more.
- 57:45Speaker 4: So to see where she ends up is my big thing.
- 57:49Speaker 2: And with the reveal that like, because there's this whole
- 57:53Speaker 2: talk of like, oh, a secret counsel and we're gonna
- 57:56Speaker 2: do this, and oh, Sloan if you don't make the choice,
- 58:00Speaker 2: then I'm gonna make the choice, and we're gonna rule
- 58:02Speaker 2: the galaxy without you. And we have seen time and
- 58:07Speaker 2: time again in the first one as well as this
- 58:11Speaker 2: aftermath sequel.
- 58:14Speaker 4: The amount of.
- 58:18Speaker 2: Just despicable, toxic masculinity towards Sloan. Now again, guys, we
- 58:28Speaker 2: understand they are the bad guys, and so of course,
- 58:32Speaker 2: like it's like, oh, what are bad guys supposed to be?
- 58:36Speaker 2: But like we we also know that everybody in the
- 58:41Speaker 2: Empire is always trying to one up each other because
- 58:44Speaker 2: it was ingrained in them, like, hey, you need to
- 58:46Speaker 2: be better than your superiors, so that way Palpatine can
- 58:49Speaker 2: see you as who you are and you get promoted
- 58:52Speaker 2: and all.
- 58:53Speaker 4: Of these other things.
- 58:53Speaker 2: Yeah, Palpatine's dead, Like like, people like you don't have
- 58:57Speaker 2: to do this anymore. You can be a actual functioning
- 59:01Speaker 2: military and quite possibly take over the Republic, but you're
- 59:06Speaker 2: so fixated on like stepping on everybody else's toes. That's
- 59:10Speaker 2: what I hate the most about the Empire, by the way,
- 59:13Speaker 2: in every aspect of whether it be the video games,
- 59:18Speaker 2: whether it be these novels, or even in the Legends novels,
- 59:22Speaker 2: it always happens.
- 59:24Speaker 4: But here I I dug this.
- 59:28Speaker 2: I did like the idea of like there was a
- 59:33Speaker 2: puppeteer the entire time, you know.
- 59:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I really dug that.
- 59:38Speaker 3: I do too, especially as it kind of leads into
- 59:43Speaker 3: Palpatine like secret on Exigal, like the Final Empire kind
- 59:49Speaker 3: of thing. I think that makes a bunch of sense
- 59:51Speaker 3: to include that. Obviously at this point Wyndy did not
- 59:56Speaker 3: know kind of final plans, but he knew like, okay,
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: like we have a first order and we've got to
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: get there somehow. So I think that connection makes sense
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: in the grand scheme of things. Uh. One of the
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: problems that I had with this was because it's mentioned
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: quite a few times as kind of like a joke element.
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: I feel like, but the breeding program yeah mm hmm,
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: Like clearly it doesn't work out because they have to
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: go kidnap kids across the galaxy to fill in their
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: stormtrooper roles. Yeah, I just don't think it plays well
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: long term. It's also really weird, like.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: I it was, I I I I don't have an
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: opinion on it because again, like you said, it was
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: a little bit of a joke, a little bit of
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: a meme, especially for us that like know the story
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: and it's not just somebody who is just like picking
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: up this book and like oh what is this?
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: Like I.
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: Where else do you go with it? Though?
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: Like that's that's my my question to you is like
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: if like you know what I mean, like, what other
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: story element would you throw in there?
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: Personally?
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: I know, like you take up like recruiting something, but like, hey,
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: like let's encourage everybody to have kids and like literally
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: call it a breathing program. Like it's just a little weird.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: Oh, I mean, it sounds very cultish. I was gonna say,
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: considering the political climate that we're in, it's kind of
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: hitting really close to home. So it's it's definitely a
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: very off putting thing. But you also have to remember
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: this is is a like secret empire that's not so secret,
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: so they can't just be like, hey, we're recruiting.
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: Yeah, so of course they had to just be like, hey,
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: this is what we're doing. Everybody's gonna have kids and
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: they're gonna be the next greatest army for the empire.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: Like it's again, like you said, very cultish, very weird,
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: and like I said, very close to home right now.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: And it's very, very awkward. I'm trying to think of, So,
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: how did you feel about the story of han Leia
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: and Chewye this idea that like, for me, like the
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: very beginning, I was just like, this is kind of
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: stupid because like han is like I have to go
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: say Chewy. I'm like, okay, yeah, he's your best friend,
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: like that, okay, but when he when Leah's trying to argue, like,
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: we can get the entire republic to help you, and
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: he's like, no, I gave up my commission. I'm no
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: longer a part of the Republic. I'm a smuggler again.
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: And he does state it's because they've already argued with
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: the Republic and mon Mathma doesn't want to go after him.
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: This is the problem with kind of like a peaceful
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: mindset of oh, we just rebelled, but we want a
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: republic of peace, so we're going to dismantle our entire
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: army and not approve anything and unless we're attacked first,
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: Like that's basically the stance mon Mathma takes. But you
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: can't do that because and I like the tagline with
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: the comic that's kind of coming up, a war is
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: not one a war is one in stages, like it
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: is not just oh, this is the final battle, Like
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: the final battle takes years. Yeah, and it's something that
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: and I know, like Wndick ultimately was trying to hit
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: on the points of, hey, this Republic's gonna fail and
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: this is why it's gonna fail. But you would also think, hey,
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: let's learn from Star Wars Legends, where it took twenty
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: years for the Republic for the new Republic in the
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: Empire to come to terms and finally resolve the war.
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: Like I think there was maybe a little bit better
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: way to go about doing it than just like, oh, yeah,
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: we're going to cut all funding to defense mechanisms and
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: like as soon as we can, we're going to wrap
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: this up.
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: And that's why, like I do like the end because technically, guys,
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: you still have to remember this is canon, Like you
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: have to look at it as something that is not
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: Legends at all. This is literally leading up to what
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: we know of as the sequel trilogy. But you look
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: at this book and then look at something like Princess
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: and the Scoundrel, you know, and the protocols that they
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: went through, and how okay, yeah, it's you know, about
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: them being on a honeymoon, but also there's this mission
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: that could very well be you know, we see a
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: completely different side of mon Mathma not so very far
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: apart technically.
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: Yeah, And so it's like, and I do like the
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: pregnancy moments we get with Leah. It's kind of cool
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: to get to see her interappt with Ben through the forest,
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: like especially meditating with that plant from indoor. I think
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: it's just some really special moments that kind of show like, hey,
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: this is what can happen in a galaxy far far away,
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: And like, ideally that's what I like to think happened
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: with Mark because like I felt like she was a
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: girl from the start. So it kind of like drew
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: up happy memories with that.
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: And I really dug it too, because you know, we
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: have people who stand the hell out of freaking Ben Solo,
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: like even our one and only Travis, Like he wants
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: all the Ben Solo stuff. He doesn't want the Kylo
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: Rinz stuff. He wants the Ben Solo stuff. So like
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: seeing that this is technically a part of Cannon, I
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: think is a very fun moment in a very special
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: moment for sure, And I hope that we do get
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: to see some of this stuff in you know what
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: will be Well, you said it started today the Star
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: Wars comic yep.
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: And I do want to clarify, So the chips that
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: are within the Lookies and the prisoners are all technically
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: called inhibitor chips. So it's kind of a good connection
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: between the clones chips, Like, Hey, we learned something from this,
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: so let's use it in other places. So that's a
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: good connection to make. Yeah, But ultimately, like and I'm
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: scrolling all my phone through this summer here because again
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: it's been a while since we read this. Yeah, And ultimately,
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: I just think this series stuffers from first book in
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: a new series basically, like that's what it's suffering from.
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: It's got all this room to play with, but it
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: also has the parameters of meeting the Force awakens well.
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: And also something that I wanted to talk to you
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: about because we've seen books that take place now technically
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: before for even this, and they decide to go back
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: like and when I say recently, I'm talking about Adam
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: Christopher uh Shadow the.
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: Sith, And we're about to jump into our third ad y'all.
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: We promise we'll be right back we promise.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: And prinstance in the Scoundrel and again dealing with our
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: three heroes. And I wonder if it was because something
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: like this. You you take this book and you're like, Okay,
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: we're dealing with a whole ragtag group of characters that
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: just aren't connecting with the readers. And I think it's
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: it's a shame for sure, but also like maybe the
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: lesson was learned. It's like, hey, let's actually tell these
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: stories with the characters that we only technically only stayed
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: with for a couple of hours in this film. We
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: can expand on some of their journeys after the movie,
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: and I think that's very important, Like I genuinely do,
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: But you have to.
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: I think there's a very.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: Fine line of where you can throw because I haven't
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: read any of the Alphabet Squadron and stuff like that.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: So those books, from what I hear from you, are
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: absolutely amazing. I don't know what the other reception is
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: from that, but I'm sure it doesn't have on solo Luke,
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: Skywalker and Princess Leah all the damn time.
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: Right, No, I don't think they're mentioned all. Harrer is
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: the only kind of other character in those books.
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: Yeah, so I'm I'm very interested in I would like
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: to be the fly on I would have liked to
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: be the fly on the wall at the publishing building
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: when they decide when they decided, Hey, this route isn't
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: really working out, let's try something else. And I don't
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: know what it is because, like we said, Sinjar is
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: a character that has grown, like we've seen the development there.
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: I don't know if it is like uh, I personally
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: don't like the big burly dude. What's his name, freaking
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: Jason John Burrell?
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: Is it.
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: John Burrell, the one that loses his side?
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: Yeah, John, I don't like him. I don't like him either.
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: I don't think he's grown at all. But we also
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: didn't really know him that much in the first book
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: because he's kind of introduced towards the end.
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think.
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: Jazz has grown at all. Like other than like the
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: small little like oh we'll take a credit as like
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: our I don't feel like she gets a ton of
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: time to like showcase that growth. Sindri gets a lot
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: of time tim and I enjoy getting to know him more. Norah,
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: I feel like, is another character where she feels like
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: she's the main character of this book of this series rather,
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: and she's left, by the way said, because she's split
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: between like, oh, I'm falling in love with Wedge my
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: husband like kind of accepted my husband must be dead.
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: Oh wait, but my husband is here. And then we
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: kind of skip a month and then like the chaos
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: happens where he shoots my Makma and stuff.
- 1:11:50Speaker 6: Like yeah, I'm also gonna say, wait, just a little
- 1:11:55Speaker 6: bit of a ladies man, Like yes, in in here
- 1:12:00Speaker 6: and in Legends books he is just like, which is
- 1:12:04Speaker 6: what I like? Did they somewhat insinuate that the Legends
- 1:12:10Speaker 6: book was.
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: Was actually like canon? I don't think so, okay, because
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: I could have sworn that, Like they mentioned something about
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: him falling in love with uh, what's your name? Who
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: did the in the Jedi Academy? Okay, I not by name,
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: but I thought they like insinuated that he had fallen
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: in love before, and I was like it might have.
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: Been an indirect mention where they were like, oh, you
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: fell in love with the doctor.
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: I don't okay, yeah, because again this book is very forgettable.
- 1:12:54Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: Like, and again, guys, we talk about how we want
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: to be truthful in these stories and with our reviews,
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: and this is one that just isn't catching us like
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: it probably should have. And we have one more and
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: then we will of course be reviewing the comic by
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: the volume.
- 1:13:15Speaker 4: We will wait until all of them are u.
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: Which I think is going to be February.
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: Yeah, it'll, it'll, it'll be fairly soon because I think
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: I did see that they were already gearing up for
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: like advertisements for for the solicits and stuff, so uh so, yeah,
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: so we'll get to it soon enough. It's it's something
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: that is on our list of like, hey, we need
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: to get through this because it's it's it's a part
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: of history in the Star Wars timeline that we haven't
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: seen yet, and I think that's going to be very
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: exciting for sure.
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: Yes, but y'all, I think we've I know, this was
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: a very short review, but again, we don't have a
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: lot of good things to say, and we don't like
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: dwelling on things we don't like.
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: Yeah, one hundred percent, but guys, you can always find
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: me at fanboy Clay on Twitter. Of course. Over on Twitter,
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: I am just making some Marvel Snap content talking about
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: everyday life a lot of stuff having to do with
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: some random DC projects that James Gunn is deciding to
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: green light, which is gonna be very interesting. But go
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: follow me there. I'd love to have any type of conversation.
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: Of course. I also host the Ranger Alliance chat, which
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: I think it was just decided off the side. Here
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: I'm talking to Travis on the Geek Versus discord. Apparently
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: there are seven Powering your parody movies on to be that.
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: I think we're probably gonna be review on Rangel Alliance,
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: So if you would like to listen to that, go
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: follow our podcast. It's gonna be very, very funny. I'm
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: sure Joe will get a kick out of that. I'm sure,
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: but yeah, go follow us there, Katie, what about you?
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: Yah? You can find me on most social media platforms
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: at Place of Katie. I have cut my social media
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: time way down though. I am super proud of myself
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: where I have a two hour timer set for social
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: media on my phone and I hit that for the
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: first time yesterday, so like in two weeks. So I'm
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: doing very good not spending a ton of time on
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: social media. But I will always respond to stuff if
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: you send me something, so that is again at place
- 1:15:49Speaker 3: for Katie. Remember you can find the show on Twitter.
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: It is at Star Wars Alliance about the eight and
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: the war is very important to forget it. That is
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: also the same place you can email us as we
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: prep for the Battle of Jaku as well as Skeleton Crew.
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: So remember that's Star Wars Alliance No. A in the
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: Wars at gmail dot com. And Clay tell us the
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: phone number please, because I cannot pull that.
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: Up off my ex Yes, so the phone number, which
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: I coincidentally have started using as my work phone number
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: so it will actually be on me at all times.
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: You can send me a text, send me an email, uh,
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: send me a voicemail on this phone. Uh, of course
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: that is eight three zero five three eight four eight
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: two eight. I will be vexing these voicemails and phone
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: calls betting, vetting.
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: Not vexing Jesus again. Forty five minutes of sleep.
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: Guys, I am so tired, you know how like you
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: like stay in the water too long and your eyes
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: just feel like they are so like just swollen. That's
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: how I feel right now. I need to get some sleep,
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: but I still have three podcasts to edit after this yay.
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: Uh did you never edit Mace one?
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: I forgot, so I get to edit that one as
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: soon as we get off.
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: We recorded that a week and a half early, y'all.
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: And just yeah, I am very much slacking. But yes, again,
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: that phone number is eight three zero five three eight
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: four eight two eight. You can give us your opinion
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: on anything and everything that we talked about today, and
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: more give us your opinion on the High Republic novels
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: or the comic or again, anything that we discussed here
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: on the show. We would greatly appreciate it.
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: Yes, and y'all, remember, after listen to this episode, you
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: can take a look or a listen at our Mace
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: one Do the Glass Abyss review. That review is out
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: at the same time as this episode. The book is
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: not out until October fifteenth, the embargo is up. However,
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: I think we did a really good job sticking away
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: from spoilers with our review. I think, honestly, I'm very
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: proud of that review, y'all. So if you wouldn't mind
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: giving us listen and giving us some feedback on how
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: you thought the review went, we greatly appreciate it. But
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: of course, if you're like I need to read the
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: book first, then I'll come back to it. Of course,
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: do that first, as the camera just swoops around. Next week, y'all,
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: we will be here for our Tears of the Nameless review,
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: so that is what you can expect next week. With that,
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: I want to wish everyone a great day or night,
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: whatever time day you are listening or watching, and we
- 1:18:48Speaker 3: will see you next time. May have the force to
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: be with you.
