Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, everyone, Welcome to the Inside the Birds pregame show.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I'm Jeff Mosher alongside Adam Kaplan, and as we always do,
- 0:17Speaker 1: we bring in our tape Breakdown Master Greg Cosell to
- 0:21Speaker 1: give us the preview and the tape breakdown on two
- 0:24Speaker 1: teams that are going at it on Sunday in Week seven.
- 0:26Speaker 1: That's the Philadelphia Eagles versus the Minnaesota Vikings and they'll
- 0:31Speaker 1: be playing at us Bank Stadium in Minnesota. So it
- 0:35Speaker 1: is another road game for the Eagles, who have lost
- 0:38Speaker 1: two straight games first time since twenty twenty three, as
- 0:42Speaker 1: they take in a four and two record to play
- 0:46Speaker 1: the Vikings, who are still again going to be on
- 0:49Speaker 1: Carson Wentz. So this will be the second time the
- 0:51Speaker 1: Eagles play against Carson Wentz since he left the Eagles.
- 0:54Speaker 1: They are three and two and they've had kind of
- 0:58Speaker 1: a strange, inconsistent start to the season that has been
- 1:02Speaker 1: somewhat filled with some injury. So we will break this
- 1:05Speaker 1: game down and Adam I start with you. And by
- 1:07Speaker 1: the way, the Vikings are coming off their bye week,
- 1:09Speaker 1: and before that they went into the bye with a
- 1:12Speaker 1: twenty one to seventeen win over the Browns, so This
- 1:16Speaker 1: is we talked about earlier in the week, a crossroads
- 1:19Speaker 1: perhaps for the Eagles, where you're looking to see if
- 1:22Speaker 1: they can pick up the pieces and start to get
- 1:24Speaker 1: back on track, whereas a loss would raise some even
- 1:26Speaker 1: more questions about the future of this team. But I
- 1:30Speaker 1: know that some people have called it a must win
- 1:32Speaker 1: game a little too early for that label.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean, how's week seven a must win?
- 1:37Speaker 2: I mean, yes, they're having too game losing street, the
- 1:39Speaker 2: first potential three game losing streak since twenty twenty three,
- 1:43Speaker 2: and that was a disaster. We won't even go over
- 1:45Speaker 2: that season. People don't want to go back to that.
- 1:47Speaker 2: They don't want to cry, and the misery of it
- 1:49Speaker 2: of really just a horrific time and recent Eagles Lord,
- 1:54Speaker 2: but look, it's a game. Look they want to bounce back.
- 1:58Speaker 2: The coaches to tell you that they don't worry about
- 2:01Speaker 2: what's said in social media. But the human beings, they know,
- 2:05Speaker 2: they're where, they have kids. A lot of these guys
- 2:07Speaker 2: have kids. They're where you know comes what happens when
- 2:10Speaker 2: they come home. They ask the kids, he ask questions
- 2:11Speaker 2: and bringing up they're trying to have to bring their
- 2:13Speaker 2: jobs at home. But it's they're just not playing great
- 2:16Speaker 2: and this is a tough matchup. Now the Vikings, Jeff,
- 2:19Speaker 2: as you said, win loss, win, loss, win, like, they've
- 2:21Speaker 2: been very up and down, lots of injuries to their
- 2:24Speaker 2: offensive line. Hopeful that they're going to have most of
- 2:26Speaker 2: these guys back. You mentioned Carson Wentze is starting again.
- 2:29Speaker 2: We'll get into with the Greg throat of the tape,
- 2:32Speaker 2: but this is a fascinating game. By the way, the
- 2:34Speaker 2: Vikings have not had a home game since Week three,
- 2:37Speaker 2: September twenty one. That's when they blew out the Bengals
- 2:40Speaker 2: and ironically are once his first game where he didn't
- 2:43Speaker 2: really have to do much. And remember, Jeff, they were
- 2:46Speaker 2: just overseas for I don't know if this happened for
- 2:48Speaker 2: where a team decides, you know what, we're good with
- 2:49Speaker 2: playing overseas two weeks in a row to do that.
- 2:52Speaker 2: So they both were away games. The Steelers game lost
- 2:56Speaker 2: a heartbreaker, and then they were able to beat the Browns.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I think the Jaguars did either last year or the
- 3:01Speaker 1: year before with but I don't think this was new
- 3:03Speaker 1: because they went from Ireland right to England. I don't
- 3:06Speaker 1: think anybody has done that where you're making two trips
- 3:10Speaker 1: within Europe.
- 3:10Speaker 2: And not England, right right, And remember the Jaguars home
- 3:13Speaker 2: away from home Asland is in England because of Shad
- 3:16Speaker 2: Con He's got the soccer team over there and shod
- 3:17Speaker 2: lose over there.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Right.
- 3:19Speaker 2: This is weird, by the way. It's their choice. They
- 3:21Speaker 2: don't have to do it, but they agreed to it,
- 3:24Speaker 2: and the league probably loved him for it. They got
- 3:25Speaker 2: their bye week and they should be well rushed.
- 3:28Speaker 1: They should be greg. We had your break down as
- 3:31Speaker 1: we always do the tape of the Eagles offense and
- 3:34Speaker 1: defense on inside the Tape. We do it every week
- 3:37Speaker 1: on the Inside the Birds platform. So I want to
- 3:38Speaker 1: ask you for sort of a big picture observation from
- 3:42Speaker 1: the tape on the Vikings. Who are they? What are
- 3:45Speaker 1: they after five weeks so far or five games?
- 3:50Speaker 3: You know? Offensively, let's start there. They've clearly been a
- 3:54Speaker 3: better offense with Carson Wentz. Now, I think that Wentz
- 3:59Speaker 3: for the moment part, has played well. A lot of
- 4:03Speaker 3: the things that sort of hindered his career toward the
- 4:06Speaker 3: end of the Philly days and then after that, although
- 4:10Speaker 3: he actually did have a very good year in Indianapolis
- 4:13Speaker 3: except for a few bad moments, but he actually had
- 4:15Speaker 3: a pretty good year. But he's been i would say,
- 4:19Speaker 3: much more controlled in the way in which he plays. Now.
- 4:22Speaker 3: There's always going to be moments, jeff where you see
- 4:25Speaker 3: him overstride, where you see him hurry himself a little
- 4:29Speaker 3: bit and the ball becomes a little high, a little scattershot.
- 4:33Speaker 3: But Kevin O'Connell is so good with lower body mechanics
- 4:38Speaker 3: that he really has him kind of a little more
- 4:41Speaker 3: tightly wound in his lower body mechanics more consistently. Now.
- 4:45Speaker 3: The key with quarterbacks that do have tendencies to lose
- 4:49Speaker 3: their lower body mechanics is you need to get pressure
- 4:51Speaker 3: on them because then they speed up when and everything
- 4:54Speaker 3: speeds up and they revert back. But he's played very
- 4:58Speaker 3: much under control. He looks calmer in the pocket than
- 5:02Speaker 3: sort of his more recent iteration, and he's made some
- 5:07Speaker 3: really really good throws. And obviously, when you have you know,
- 5:11Speaker 3: justin Jefferson, you have Addison who's now back, and you
- 5:15Speaker 3: have a really well schemed passing game that presents a
- 5:19Speaker 3: lot of clean, defined looks. He's actually played well. He's
- 5:22Speaker 3: not getting sacked very much, the ball's coming out, he's
- 5:25Speaker 3: throwing shorter passes when he needs to, which was always
- 5:28Speaker 3: an issue in the past. But obviously Kevin O'Connell on
- 5:32Speaker 3: the staff is working with him on that. He may
- 5:35Speaker 3: never be the best at it, but he's better than
- 5:37Speaker 3: he was, and so therefore he's not holding the ball
- 5:41Speaker 3: and he's not taking unnecessary sacks, and he's not playing
- 5:44Speaker 3: recklessly because very often he'd hold the ball and then
- 5:46Speaker 3: run around, and he's not really doing You haven't really
- 5:49Speaker 3: seen him run around very.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Much when he moved around when he ran the He
- 5:55Speaker 2: looks healthy. That's a note that yeah said he did
- 5:57Speaker 2: when he said the scrambles. Remember when he tore the
- 6:00Speaker 2: it ban the ACL gosh eight years ago. We're almost
- 6:04Speaker 2: at the eight year mark in December of twenty seventeen
- 6:08Speaker 2: that it bann is on the side of her leg
- 6:11Speaker 2: and he just had that hitch that trying to run.
- 6:15Speaker 2: He's starting to have a hitch in his running. He
- 6:17Speaker 2: doesn't have that right now. He thought he looked pretty
- 6:19Speaker 2: good running it. So yeah, we'll see what happens. Man,
- 6:21Speaker 2: this is a fascinating game, Jeff. He just looks more controlled, Jeah.
- 6:24Speaker 2: He just looks, you know, like he's you know, again,
- 6:27Speaker 2: he's more experienced. You have to believe on a certain
- 6:30Speaker 2: level he's humbled to some extent. I mean, don't forget
- 6:33Speaker 2: he did start that last game in Kansas City last
- 6:35Speaker 2: year and he was awful. You know, I think they
- 6:38Speaker 2: lost thirty eight nothing to Denver and he was awful. Like,
- 6:41Speaker 2: he was awful to the point where you thought, is
- 6:42Speaker 2: this guy gonna know be back in the league.
- 6:44Speaker 3: I'm not trying to be funny. I'm just that's what
- 6:47Speaker 3: the tape show. He was awful. Wow, And he's been
- 6:50Speaker 3: rehabilitated to a large extent by a guy that's a
- 6:53Speaker 3: really good quarterback guy in Kevin O'Connell.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Very much so. Yeah, watching his tape just in a
- 6:59Speaker 1: few games that he's play this year was very interesting because,
- 7:01Speaker 1: like you said, Greg, he does things better. And then
- 7:04Speaker 1: there's like the one or two you know, I know,
- 7:06Speaker 1: he took six sacks against Pittsburgh, but there's those two
- 7:09Speaker 1: or three times where if he could speed up his
- 7:10Speaker 1: clock and get him a little frenetic in the pocket,
- 7:13Speaker 1: he's still liable to either take a sack that he
- 7:16Speaker 1: didn't need to take or do something wild. But you're
- 7:18Speaker 1: right about the control. You can see that they're on schedule,
- 7:22Speaker 1: you have a little bit more than you would have
- 7:24Speaker 1: thought that they would be with And.
- 7:26Speaker 3: I'm sure a lot of people thought when they played
- 7:28Speaker 3: Cleveland with that D line in pass rush, that that
- 7:30Speaker 3: could be a game where he'd get sacked eight or
- 7:32Speaker 3: nine times and be running around, And it didn't play
- 7:34Speaker 3: out that way at all. He was very much under
- 7:36Speaker 3: control on that game.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Actually, he didn't turn it over.
- 7:39Speaker 3: By the way.
- 7:40Speaker 2: He's also coached by Josh McCown, which I'm glad I was.
- 7:42Speaker 3: Gonna I'm glad you mentioned that because when I was
- 7:45Speaker 3: mentioned to Kevin O'Connell, Josh McCown, who I know as well,
- 7:48Speaker 3: is you know, he's very, very good, and you know
- 7:51Speaker 3: the combination of those two guys, you know, really coaching
- 7:54Speaker 3: him is a big deal. It's a really big deal.
- 7:57Speaker 2: This is really odd. So Kevin O'Connell, he yes, he
- 8:01Speaker 2: hired Josh mccow. But you know it's interesting. Charlie Frye,
- 8:03Speaker 2: another former Cleveland Browns quarterback. Yeah, so the defensive staff,
- 8:08Speaker 2: how about that, Charlie Frye.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I still remember the game. I want to say,
- 8:12Speaker 1: twenty seventeen Eagles play the Falcons, Monday night, Carson Wentz
- 8:17Speaker 1: has to leave the game with an injury, and McCown
- 8:20Speaker 1: comes in and rallies them and gets it eighteen eighteen.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I say eighteen. He rallies, he gets them
- 8:28Speaker 1: into the deep within the five, I think, inside the
- 8:31Speaker 1: low red zone, and he's doing great. And then the
- 8:33Speaker 1: yank him and put Carson right back in and I
- 8:36Speaker 1: think Agalred drops a touchdown. Pat I have a weird
- 8:39Speaker 1: total recall from that. But yeah, that was an interesting game.
- 8:42Speaker 1: So imagine your coach, your position coach is the guy
- 8:44Speaker 1: who used to be your backup. That's got to be
- 8:47Speaker 1: a very fascinating dynamic there in that room. Sure, all right,
- 8:51Speaker 1: so let's talk about this game. We'll get into it first.
- 8:53Speaker 1: We'll start with the injuries. I would say the Eagles
- 8:56Speaker 1: got some good news and some maybe not so good
- 8:59Speaker 1: news from their final injury report. The good news, of course,
- 9:04Speaker 1: is that Quinyon Mitchell is going to play. He was
- 9:07Speaker 1: a full participant on Friday. He's not even carrying an
- 9:11Speaker 1: injury designation. He is going to play and he's not
- 9:14Speaker 1: questionable or anything like that. That is very good news.
- 9:18Speaker 1: And Landon Dickerson is listed as questionable, but he did
- 9:21Speaker 1: practice in full on Friday, so that's also good. Same
- 9:25Speaker 1: thing with Jordan Davis on the shoulder, Zach Bourne with
- 9:27Speaker 1: the thumb, good to go. The weird one, Adam right, is,
- 9:32Speaker 1: because we talked about this, Jalen Carter is listed as questionable.
- 9:36Speaker 1: He was limited the last two days of practice after
- 9:39Speaker 1: being full on Wednesday. Now, without knowing what's going on
- 9:44Speaker 1: behind the doors there, behind the scenes, we did say
- 9:47Speaker 1: let's watch after he was a full participant on what
- 9:50Speaker 1: happens the day after, because you always want to see
- 9:53Speaker 1: response to that kind of a practice and whatever the reason,
- 9:56Speaker 1: the Eagles response was, we're pulling back and limiting him.
- 10:00Speaker 1: So I do think coming off a game that he
- 10:02Speaker 1: missed and an extra rest for him to be limited
- 10:04Speaker 1: the last two days of practice and being questionable should
- 10:08Speaker 1: probably raise some concerns.
- 10:10Speaker 2: I would be concerned. I would be, I thought, because look,
- 10:13Speaker 2: he I know you can't always trust for players, say
- 10:16Speaker 2: because they're very optimistic, they're the ones that are dealing
- 10:18Speaker 2: with the injury. And he seemed to be pretty resolute
- 10:20Speaker 2: that he was going to play when he told. In fact,
- 10:22Speaker 2: our Andrew Ducheco was there right in front of him
- 10:23Speaker 2: when he said it. I believe whatever the media availability
- 10:27Speaker 2: was ondnes here Thursday. But the fact that he didn't
- 10:30Speaker 2: take all the ones on Friday is a concern because
- 10:33Speaker 2: Friday is a light practice, usually forty five to sixty minutes.
- 10:37Speaker 2: It's generally you're just going, you're just it's very crisp,
- 10:40Speaker 2: and you get out, you're done. It's a sure practice.
- 10:42Speaker 2: And he didn't take all the ones on Friday. I'm
- 10:44Speaker 2: Kinle was kind of surprised by that. Yeah, where Dickerson did.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Now he's got the questionable tag where uh, he did
- 10:52Speaker 2: take all the ones on Friday. That's a great sign. Now,
- 10:54Speaker 2: Quinyon he Yeah, he's It's not like the injury magically
- 10:58Speaker 2: went away. It is a hamstring issue. But he took
- 11:01Speaker 2: all the ones on Friday, and that, barring something in
- 11:03Speaker 2: pre game more ups, he's in the lineup.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Yep.
- 11:05Speaker 2: And thank goodness for the Eagles, because we don't want
- 11:07Speaker 2: to see Ringo and Jackson starting against or having to
- 11:10Speaker 2: be the guys who are in the starting lineup with
- 11:12Speaker 2: Justin Jefferson on the other side, right, that would not
- 11:14Speaker 2: be pretty.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Yeah, it looks like it'll be a dory Jackson getting
- 11:17Speaker 1: the start this time, correct, And I think even if
- 11:21Speaker 1: Jill and Carter were to start the game, Greg, You're
- 11:23Speaker 1: always gonna wonder can he make it through, can he
- 11:27Speaker 1: play at the level that you expect him to play at,
- 11:29Speaker 1: because as you've noticed on tape, you know, he's been
- 11:31Speaker 1: dealing with the shoulder, which he's not even on the
- 11:33Speaker 1: report for now. He's been dealing with the heel. He
- 11:36Speaker 1: has not been the guy this year so far that
- 11:39Speaker 1: we saw last year.
- 11:40Speaker 3: No, and that's absolutely true. The tape shows that, and
- 11:43Speaker 3: they need him to be that guy with the players
- 11:45Speaker 3: that they lost in just the fact that they've you know,
- 11:47Speaker 3: we talked about this earlier in the week, they've not
- 11:50Speaker 3: really been able to rush the quarterback the way they have.
- 11:53Speaker 3: I mean, that has been in some ways a staple
- 11:56Speaker 3: of this team over the as they've built to being
- 11:58Speaker 3: a super Bowl and then a super Bowl winner. You know,
- 12:02Speaker 3: the pass rush has been a major, major part of
- 12:05Speaker 3: who they are as a team, and that has not
- 12:07Speaker 3: been the case this year.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Right, all right, let's flip it over and talk about
- 12:11Speaker 1: the Vikings. The injury report. So it looks like Andrew
- 12:16Speaker 1: Van Kinkle is out for them. He's been declared out.
- 12:19Speaker 1: He's a key piece of what they do on defense.
- 12:22Speaker 1: But he's been out I think for a couple of games.
- 12:23Speaker 3: What's his injury, Adam Leave, it's a neck.
- 12:26Speaker 2: I'll double check a pleae to a neck injury. Van
- 12:29Speaker 2: Kinkles is a neck and he is out. He just
- 12:31Speaker 2: started working, you know. But yeah, that's obviously big avg
- 12:36Speaker 2: as they say, was he chef? Was he a teammate
- 12:39Speaker 2: of Zach Bonds in Wisconsin? If not mistaken?
- 12:41Speaker 1: I think he was. I mean Greg might know that from.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Taking I believe so. I think he's a little older
- 12:46Speaker 3: than maybe not, because don't forget how many years did
- 12:49Speaker 3: spend Bond spend in New Orleans? Probably about four, right,
- 12:52Speaker 3: wasn't sixth year in the league. I think they were
- 12:55Speaker 3: teammates for sure. Yeah.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Yeah, and and sort of similar style players who can
- 12:59Speaker 1: play the edge on the line and also a linebacker.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Yeah. A lot of those Wisconsin guys come into the league,
- 13:05Speaker 3: their edge rushers and they well and Van Ginkle's actually
- 13:08Speaker 3: turned out to be kind of a multi dimensional player.
- 13:10Speaker 3: He's a very He's more multi dimensional in his deployment
- 13:13Speaker 3: than bonn Is. And he started out to be a
- 13:15Speaker 3: very good player.
- 13:16Speaker 2: By the way Greg before Vic Fancher was coaching him,
- 13:20Speaker 2: was Van Ginkle doing the stuff that he did for
- 13:22Speaker 2: Vic doing See that isn't an amazing Jeff Bond seriously
- 13:28Speaker 2: is not at real. He was not a linebacker, let's
- 13:31Speaker 2: call it. He really wasn't right. And the fact that
- 13:34Speaker 2: Vic saw something like really no one else saw pretty remarkable.
- 13:38Speaker 2: He did the same thing for Van Kenkle. Van Kinkle
- 13:39Speaker 2: should gi him a couple of bucks for that. It's
- 13:40Speaker 2: pretty interesting. Was making a lot of money. Man, he
- 13:44Speaker 2: got a big deal too.
- 13:45Speaker 3: He got a big deal. Well, in their scheme, he's
- 13:47Speaker 3: a really important See there's a great example. And I'm
- 13:49Speaker 3: not saying he wouldn't be good somewhere else. You never
- 13:51Speaker 3: know those things. But in that particular scheme, he's a
- 13:55Speaker 3: really good player.
- 13:58Speaker 1: All right, let's talk about some of their questionable guys
- 14:00Speaker 1: at him, because I know you've got some intel on
- 14:02Speaker 1: this and there are some interesting ones. So, Blake Cashman,
- 14:05Speaker 1: their linebacker is very good. He's in their twenty one
- 14:08Speaker 1: day window. He's coming off i R. So he's questionable
- 14:12Speaker 1: to play. You're getting any.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Actually he's not. Well, here's here's the deal. He's going
- 14:16Speaker 2: to play they made the pretty clear he's going to play.
- 14:18Speaker 2: They're gonna activate him. Okay, so they're gonna activate him now.
- 14:22Speaker 2: By the way, Carson Wentz, his injury is his left shoulder,
- 14:25Speaker 2: his non thrown shoulder. He was fine with it. The
- 14:28Speaker 2: ones there. McCarthy will not play. In fact, he's going
- 14:30Speaker 2: to be their emergency third quarterback. JJ McCarthy coming back
- 14:33Speaker 2: from the left high ankle injury.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Yep.
- 14:35Speaker 2: But the fact that he's now working. He worked during
- 14:37Speaker 2: their bye week and then this week, so they're hopeful
- 14:41Speaker 2: that he'll be ready the week after. But what's interesting,
- 14:43Speaker 2: Jeff is you might have heard it if you listen
- 14:46Speaker 2: to our show with Mike McMullan Meryl Reice that we
- 14:48Speaker 2: did this week. I asked Mike point blank, what would
- 14:50Speaker 2: you do? Would you stick with the veteran Carson and
- 14:52Speaker 2: go back to McCarthy. I mean, and I thought he
- 14:55Speaker 2: might say this, but until I asked him, and he said, no,
- 14:57Speaker 2: I stick with a veteran and we got plenty of
- 14:59Speaker 2: time to develop the quarter back. He said this, just
- 15:01Speaker 2: stick with Wentz. He was strong, but he didn't even
- 15:03Speaker 2: think about it, just came out right and said it.
- 15:06Speaker 1: There you go, Yeah, yeah, look, it makes sense right now,
- 15:08Speaker 1: and then I do wonder, uh, if the Vikings continue
- 15:13Speaker 1: to win, you know, if they beat the Eagles and
- 15:15Speaker 1: whoever they play next week, if they kind of stick
- 15:18Speaker 1: with Wentz until they feel like I mean, I know
- 15:21Speaker 1: they've kind of made it same like they're fine with
- 15:22Speaker 1: They're gonna go back to McCarthy once he's ready, But
- 15:24Speaker 1: they have the Chargers up next, and then the Lions.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Those are two, and then so well, the Ravens haven't
- 15:30Speaker 1: played very well, but I mean there's still what you
- 15:32Speaker 1: think of as a formidable team. So if Carson Wentz
- 15:35Speaker 1: is playing well, it makes you wonder if they stick
- 15:38Speaker 1: with him there.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Jonathan Grenard got hurt in Thursday's practice with a hamster
- 15:42Speaker 2: and he's terrific edge rusher. He's gonna play though. He
- 15:44Speaker 2: got cleared Friday. Now. Brian O'Neill hurt his knee. He
- 15:47Speaker 2: missed their last game. They're optimistic that he'll be back
- 15:51Speaker 2: in the lineup at right tackle. Donovan Jackson's been cleared.
- 15:54Speaker 2: He missed last week's game as well with their injury
- 15:56Speaker 2: wrist injury. Michael Jurgen's the backup guards center who was
- 16:02Speaker 2: filling in for Ryan Kelly. He missed the previous game,
- 16:04Speaker 2: but he's been cleared he'll play, so as they sent
- 16:06Speaker 2: him back to UJF. They've had a ton of injuries.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Their offensive line was down three starters, but they're looking
- 16:12Speaker 2: pretty good to have most of them for this game.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Well, Greg, given what we've talked about with Carson Wentz,
- 16:16Speaker 1: I would think having both offensive tackles healthy, having the
- 16:19Speaker 1: first round pick Jackson at guard, and then even the
- 16:23Speaker 1: backup center instead of the third string center in there
- 16:26Speaker 1: makes it that much better of an environment for Carson
- 16:30Speaker 1: without question.
- 16:31Speaker 3: And I think that the answer I repart to that
- 16:34Speaker 3: is can their run game at least be a factor.
- 16:36Speaker 3: They don't have to rush for one hundred and eighty yards,
- 16:39Speaker 3: but Jordan Mason is kind of a tough, physical inside runner,
- 16:42Speaker 3: and we know that Kevin O'Connell does want to run
- 16:44Speaker 3: the ball. This is not just a throwball team. That's
- 16:47Speaker 3: not the way he wants to play now. Obviously, in Pittsburgh,
- 16:50Speaker 3: they were down in the second half and they probably
- 16:52Speaker 3: had to drop Carson Wentz back more than they would
- 16:55Speaker 3: like to, and that's one reason he had five or
- 16:57Speaker 3: six sacks in that game. But I think that in
- 16:59Speaker 3: an I world, that's not the way they want to play.
- 17:02Speaker 3: So and Jordan Mason, you know what, for the first
- 17:05Speaker 3: part of last season when McCaffrey was not there, he
- 17:08Speaker 3: ran well, he ran hard. He's a certain kind of runner.
- 17:11Speaker 3: He's a physical, grinded out type runner. Not necessarily a
- 17:14Speaker 3: big playback. But again, if you can stay ahead of
- 17:17Speaker 3: the sticks and open up the playbook and do all
- 17:20Speaker 3: those things, you know, it really helps your offense.
- 17:23Speaker 1: All right, So let's stay on the offense. But let's
- 17:25Speaker 1: talk as we get into it about the Eagles offense
- 17:28Speaker 1: against this Vikings defense. First, we're gonna hear a word
- 17:31Speaker 1: from our great sponsors. Hey, you know that one guy
- 17:34Speaker 1: in the group chat who hit a five leg parlay
- 17:37Speaker 1: week one and he wouldn't shut up about it for
- 17:39Speaker 1: the rest of the season.
- 17:40Speaker 3: Sounds like Kaplan, right, Yeah, Yeah, it.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Could be him.
- 17:43Speaker 1: It could be you, and we would all want to
- 17:47Speaker 1: be you. My bookie makes it stupid easy to get

- 19:47Speaker 1: for your take, your take, your viewpoint, your tape study
- 19:51Speaker 1: observations on the Vikings defense because I watched a bunch
- 19:55Speaker 1: of their games, and you know, they rank very high,
- 19:58Speaker 1: very in past defense and they're among the bottom half
- 20:02Speaker 1: to third in run defense. But watching them, I don't
- 20:06Speaker 1: know that. I think that what they do well from
- 20:08Speaker 1: the passing game is because they have great pass defense personnel,
- 20:11Speaker 1: and what they don't do well from running game is
- 20:13Speaker 1: because of great run or poor run defense personnel. It's
- 20:16Speaker 1: almost the way that they play defense that really jumps
- 20:20Speaker 1: out on Brian Flores.
- 20:22Speaker 3: It's schematic right, more than anything. Now. They hardly play
- 20:26Speaker 3: any cover one. They are not a man to man
- 20:28Speaker 3: defensive team. But what they've always done under Brian Flores,
- 20:32Speaker 3: and this is what's difficult for an old line and
- 20:36Speaker 3: theoretically for your quarterback too, is they will line up
- 20:39Speaker 3: with pressure front. Looks okay, they'll line up with five, six,
- 20:44Speaker 3: sometimes seven along the line of scrimmage. Now they don't
- 20:47Speaker 3: do that on every play obviously, but when you do that,
- 20:51Speaker 3: and we've seen what sometimes can happen when teams do that.
- 20:54Speaker 3: I mean, I remember specifically when Jalen Hurts got sacked
- 20:58Speaker 3: by j Kwon McMillan and the Broncos. You know, and
- 21:00Speaker 3: you may remember that play where the Broncos lined up,
- 21:03Speaker 3: I believe, with six or seven along their front. They
- 21:06Speaker 3: dropped out the interior three or four, and you know,
- 21:10Speaker 3: Hufanga was the hot guy to start, but then McMillan
- 21:13Speaker 3: became the free hitter, you know. I mean, it's the
- 21:17Speaker 3: the vikings. Brian Flores is very good at those kinds
- 21:20Speaker 3: of things. And then but he doesn't play man, so
- 21:23Speaker 3: when people drop out, they drop out into his own coverage. Now,
- 21:27Speaker 3: where Van Ginkle was outstanding was how he was a
- 21:30Speaker 3: great dropper and guys he just knew because you know,
- 21:33Speaker 3: that's all taught. I remember having this conversation with Adam's
- 21:37Speaker 3: good buddy Ben Bloom when I was down in Tennessee,
- 21:41Speaker 3: talking about the angle that guys drop out because that's
- 21:44Speaker 3: all coached. You don't just say just drop out. You know,
- 21:47Speaker 3: it's all coach based on splits, based on receiver, you know,
- 21:50Speaker 3: and and you know that's something Van Ginkle's great at.
- 21:55Speaker 3: So they're going to miss that. But that's what makes
- 21:57Speaker 3: it difficult when you play against this team, is these
- 22:00Speaker 3: these pressure front looks and then what do they do
- 22:03Speaker 3: from that?
- 22:06Speaker 2: Yeah, to me, Greg, it makes it because you have it,
- 22:10Speaker 2: you just basically have it second to make a decision
- 22:12Speaker 2: what you're gonna do. Yeah, Flores is so unpredictable. That's
- 22:16Speaker 2: what makes them so great.
- 22:18Speaker 3: And they're not necessarily a high you know, people think
- 22:20Speaker 3: because they do that that they are really high percentage
- 22:23Speaker 3: blitz defense. They're not necessarily I mean in a given game,
- 22:27Speaker 3: they they may. I mean, yeah, relative to the league
- 22:30Speaker 3: they are. I mean they're third highest in blitz. But
- 22:33Speaker 3: I mean I remember in previous years I felt like
- 22:36Speaker 3: they blitzed at even a higher rate relative to this year.
- 22:39Speaker 3: You know. So, and don't forget part of that could
- 22:41Speaker 3: have been too that Harrison Smith's Smith missed games and
- 22:45Speaker 3: even though he's not a blitzer. Now you have to
- 22:47Speaker 3: make sure the back end guys understand how to because Essentially,
- 22:51Speaker 3: they're a zone match team. They're not a man team,
- 22:54Speaker 3: but you still have to match. And when you lose
- 22:56Speaker 3: a player like Harrison Smith, who's really really good at
- 22:59Speaker 3: that because he's played a long time and is a
- 23:01Speaker 3: very smart player, you know, that just changes a little
- 23:04Speaker 3: bit of how you play.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Okay, how do these Josh mittelis because he's an interesting player.
- 23:09Speaker 2: He's being paid a lot of money too. What do
- 23:10Speaker 2: you think of him?
- 23:11Speaker 3: Because he's their wild card? He lines up everywhere. See,
- 23:15Speaker 3: there's a perfect example of a guy who came out
- 23:17Speaker 3: of the Big ten Michigan, who's not viewed as a
- 23:19Speaker 3: big time star, but then he gets into a system
- 23:22Speaker 3: where it just you know, they see what he can
- 23:25Speaker 3: do and they play to what he is because he's
- 23:29Speaker 3: not If you just said, oh, you're a safety, he
- 23:31Speaker 3: wouldn't be a great safety. If you said you're a
- 23:33Speaker 3: slot corner, he wouldn't be a great slot corner. But
- 23:36Speaker 3: as kind of a movable chess piece wild card who
- 23:39Speaker 3: lines up in multiple places, that's part of it of
- 23:42Speaker 3: a really good scheme. He's a very effective player.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Greg they're front. Let's talk about their defensive front against
- 23:51Speaker 1: the Eagles offensive line, which has struggled. The run game
- 23:54Speaker 1: has struggled. They are light up front, yes, but they're
- 23:58Speaker 1: also very They're also not on athletic though they're they're fast,
- 24:01Speaker 1: they move around. They look it looks like they get
- 24:03Speaker 1: their linebackers crashing into the gaps against the run pretty quickly.
- 24:07Speaker 1: So I've seen that they've allowed a few explosives. You know,
- 24:11Speaker 1: they had to face Bajon Robinson, they face the Steelers.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Algier got him a little bit even Joel, Yeah.
- 24:21Speaker 3: I think in ninety nine yards rushing.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, But it doesn't look to me like they're
- 24:26Speaker 1: blown off the ball either. It just looks like to
- 24:28Speaker 1: me that they're going so fast at times that they're
- 24:31Speaker 1: a little bit sloppy with their tackling. But do you
- 24:33Speaker 1: see this front as an opportunity for the Eagles to
- 24:37Speaker 1: get their ground game going if they can you know,
- 24:40Speaker 1: execute their blocks correctly.
- 24:43Speaker 3: I mean theoretically yes, but you know, because look, I
- 24:46Speaker 3: think Cashman and being back, and again we don't know
- 24:49Speaker 3: how many snaps he will play. I mean that's unknown
- 24:52Speaker 3: at the moment. But Cashman's a really good player. So
- 24:55Speaker 3: now what you have is you have you know, Ivan
- 24:58Speaker 3: Pace has been playing, He's an interesting player, but he's
- 25:01Speaker 3: not big. He's but he's a very good player.
- 25:04Speaker 1: You know.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Eric Wilson, our old friend, he's you know, he's been
- 25:08Speaker 3: around the league. I'll tell you what. He probably had
- 25:10Speaker 3: his worst stretch with Philly, but wherever else he's been,
- 25:12Speaker 3: he's been a solid player. It's been odd because he
- 25:15Speaker 3: was a solid player with Green Bay and now he's
- 25:17Speaker 3: a solid player with Minnesota. So it's just odd that
- 25:20Speaker 3: when he was in Philly it seemed like he was
- 25:22Speaker 3: not a good player at all. Player. But I think,
- 25:27Speaker 3: you know, in an ideal world, Cashman he makes a
- 25:29Speaker 3: big Cashman's a really really good player. I remember, I
- 25:34Speaker 3: don't think you were there, Adam, And I remember talking
- 25:35Speaker 3: with his agent when you were at the Combine a
- 25:37Speaker 3: couple of years ago. Really nice guy. What's his name,
- 25:42Speaker 3: that's it? Yeah, really nice guy. And you know he
- 25:45Speaker 3: was actually asking me what I thought of him because
- 25:47Speaker 3: he was going to be a free agent at that point,
- 25:49Speaker 3: and I told him because he was with Houston and
- 25:51Speaker 3: I thought he was a really good player.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Johnson Allen too, Yeah.
- 25:56Speaker 3: So I mean they have good players. I think a
- 25:59Speaker 3: lot of times what happens to Jeff because there's so
- 26:01Speaker 3: much moving around with their defense that sometimes guys get
- 26:05Speaker 3: out of gaps.
- 26:06Speaker 1: That's exactly what I thought I saw, Greg. I didn't
- 26:08Speaker 1: see a d line or a front that was just
- 26:11Speaker 1: getting blown off the balls the way a couple of
- 26:14Speaker 1: years ago when the Eagles played the Vikings and they
- 26:16Speaker 1: were struggling with the past to DeAndre Swift, and they
- 26:19Speaker 1: literally just blew the Vikings And.
- 26:21Speaker 3: That usually doesn't happen to them, but they get out
- 26:23Speaker 3: of gaps. There's a lot of moving pieces, you know.
- 26:26Speaker 3: And just like in the past game, they do give
- 26:28Speaker 3: up plays. I mean, it's not it's not like you
- 26:31Speaker 3: can't score on this team at all, you know, and
- 26:34Speaker 3: they do give up plays. And when you look at
- 26:36Speaker 3: the corners, you know, I know Isaiah Rodgers is there.
- 26:39Speaker 3: He had a nice year in Philly last year, and
- 26:40Speaker 3: he's certainly an above average corner, but he's not a
- 26:42Speaker 3: shutdown player. You know. I think you can attack them.
- 26:47Speaker 3: You know, we talked about this earlier in the week.
- 26:50Speaker 3: It would not surprise me if aj Brown got over
- 26:53Speaker 3: the top a couple of times in this game. You know,
- 26:55Speaker 3: I think I think this is a defense you can
- 26:58Speaker 3: do that too, based on you know, Byron Murphy plays
- 27:01Speaker 3: outside in their base, but he's really a slot corner.
- 27:03Speaker 3: He's a very good slack corner, but he plays outside
- 27:06Speaker 3: in their base.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Rogers is a small frame guy. He's athletic, we know.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Yeah he's a good player, Jeff, but physically he's not
- 27:14Speaker 2: the biggest guy in the world. I agree with Greg.
- 27:16Speaker 2: They're not great at corner. Just have a scheme that
- 27:19Speaker 2: sometimes it's hard to decipher and figure out.
- 27:21Speaker 3: That's what it is. And there's gonna be plays in
- 27:23Speaker 3: every game where they make you make you look silly
- 27:27Speaker 3: just because that's the way they play. But you can
- 27:29Speaker 3: make plays against them. They're never like the number one
- 27:33Speaker 3: defense in the league in terms of yards allowed or
- 27:35Speaker 3: you know, you can make plays.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Right, they'll give up a little bit for this. Yeah,
- 27:39Speaker 1: ry of break down your scheme or confusir quarter but.
- 27:42Speaker 3: They will confuse. I mean remember last year when Aaron
- 27:44Speaker 3: Rodgers totally got confused and through the interception right to
- 27:47Speaker 3: Van Ginkel. And that's Aaron Rodgers. Wowardest quarterbacks who ever played.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Yep. Yeah, So the Vikings have seen run the run
- 27:55Speaker 1: game against them at a forty nine point three percent clip.
- 27:58Speaker 1: It's the second highest in the end. But that can
- 28:01Speaker 1: be a little misleading because they've also played some teams
- 28:05Speaker 1: that like to run. We talked about the Steelers, we're
- 28:06Speaker 1: talking about the Falcons, and obviously they played some teams
- 28:10Speaker 1: with bad quarterbacks Browning Gabriel. The fact that they've seen
- 28:15Speaker 1: that much running but they've only allowed the eighth most
- 28:17Speaker 1: rushing yards in the league shows you that they're not
- 28:20Speaker 1: pushovers because teams are running the ball at them more
- 28:22Speaker 1: than anybody other than I think the Jets. But they're
- 28:24Speaker 1: not hemorrhaging rushing yards. But they will give up some explosives.
- 28:27Speaker 1: And I wonder Greg I noticed that the Falcons, and
- 28:30Speaker 1: I don't know if they always do this. I'm guessing
- 28:32Speaker 1: they do. They ran a lot against the Vikings out
- 28:35Speaker 1: of the pistol formation.
- 28:37Speaker 3: Well the Viking excuse me, the Falcons. You're talking about
- 28:40Speaker 3: the Falcons.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Yeah, when they were a team of beach On.
- 28:45Speaker 3: Robinson's eighty three rushes this year have come out of
- 28:47Speaker 3: the pistol. They were a pitton. They play out of
- 28:50Speaker 3: the pistol more than twice as much as the next team.
- 28:52Speaker 3: They're in the pits on about fifty five percent of
- 28:54Speaker 3: their offensive snaps.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Well, it feels like it's something.
- 28:58Speaker 3: I mean, I'm not saying that that makes it a
- 28:59Speaker 3: bad and now, but that's who the Falcons are.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I thought. And because they did it
- 29:04Speaker 1: so much and just watching how you get less of
- 29:07Speaker 1: a tell because the quarterback is the running back is
- 29:09Speaker 1: directly behind the quarterback as opposed to the left or
- 29:13Speaker 1: the right, which can sort of sometimes dictate the pathway.
- 29:17Speaker 1: I wonder if one of the things that the Eagles
- 29:19Speaker 1: might try to switch up because they have run some
- 29:21Speaker 1: pistol this year, is just trying to get the running
- 29:24Speaker 1: game going out of the pistol.
- 29:25Speaker 3: Mor Well, It's funny because Atlanta, you know, most people
- 29:28Speaker 3: say if you're in the pistol as opposed to the gun,
- 29:30Speaker 3: that you have a greater variety in your run game,
- 29:32Speaker 3: because in the gun, people believe you're a little limited,
- 29:35Speaker 3: you know. But the funny thing about the Falcons is
- 29:38Speaker 3: is even though they're in the pistol so much, and
- 29:40Speaker 3: as I mentioned, seventy one of Jon's eighty three runs
- 29:43Speaker 3: have come out of pistol, it's literally all outside zone.
- 29:45Speaker 3: They lead the league and running outside zone by the
- 29:50Speaker 3: biggest margin. You know, they are an outside zone team.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Now again, could the Eagles look at that game, because
- 29:55Speaker 3: you know, the coaching staff is looking at everything. You know,
- 29:57Speaker 3: they're trying to win games now. They're just trying to
- 29:59Speaker 3: turn all over every stone right now. I mean, it's
- 30:02Speaker 3: that's what coaches do. You know, there's no the players
- 30:04Speaker 3: might get some time off, but there's no rest for
- 30:06Speaker 3: the weary here, you know. I mean, they got to
- 30:08Speaker 3: figure out a way to win this game. So I
- 30:10Speaker 3: don't know if the Eagles will take a page out
- 30:12Speaker 3: of the Falcons book, you know, and be in the
- 30:15Speaker 3: pistol more. You know, the Falcons are a heavy outside
- 30:18Speaker 3: zone team. Of course, the Eagles can run outside zone.
- 30:21Speaker 3: They can run anything when their old line is playing
- 30:23Speaker 3: well and it's Barkley. But I don't know if they'll
- 30:26Speaker 3: do that. But I think that you have to. You know,
- 30:31Speaker 3: in a week like this where you have to win
- 30:33Speaker 3: this game. You know you're coming off your offense is
- 30:35Speaker 3: not even though you're foreign to there's no one in
- 30:38Speaker 3: that building that's going to think, Jeff, that boy r
- 30:40Speaker 3: offense is looking good. There's no one who's thinking that. Okay,
- 30:43Speaker 3: coaches don't think their offense look good when they score fifty.
- 30:46Speaker 3: So there's no way they think their offense is too
- 30:48Speaker 3: good now. So so they're going to leave no stone unturned.
- 30:52Speaker 3: They're going to try to figure this out. They'll look
- 30:54Speaker 3: at other teams, see what other teams have had success
- 30:57Speaker 3: doing because the Eagles, I'm sure, believe with a compliment
- 31:00Speaker 3: in their own line and appears as if Land and
- 31:02Speaker 3: Dickerson will go, they are going to believe that they
- 31:05Speaker 3: can run the ball against this team. Now. They believe
- 31:07Speaker 3: that every week and it hasn't happened this year. It
- 31:10Speaker 3: just quite frankly, the old line has not played well.
- 31:12Speaker 3: But you know now you still have to hang your
- 31:15Speaker 3: hat on your own line. You have no choice. You
- 31:17Speaker 3: don't have other options.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Here, right, Jeff. One thing and we don't know whether
- 31:23Speaker 2: the run outside zone or even have a toss right
- 31:26Speaker 2: or toss left because they just haven't done it. Now.
- 31:30Speaker 2: It could be a physical thing. It seems like it is.
- 31:32Speaker 2: We're not sure, but we're gonna learn a lot more
- 31:34Speaker 2: in this game on Sunday about where they are physically,
- 31:37Speaker 2: because you have a front that's remember jay Von Hargrave
- 31:40Speaker 2: does not stop the run well, and he's a smaller
- 31:42Speaker 2: guy comparatively. Okay, Jonathan Allen's up there. You know, he's
- 31:46Speaker 2: a a great player in his day.
- 31:48Speaker 3: He's Grenard's not big either. What's that Grenard's not big either?
- 31:51Speaker 2: No, well, John Garnard's right. He's an excellent pass rusher
- 31:54Speaker 2: and Van Kinkle's not playing. So this is an opportunity
- 31:57Speaker 2: to run. That's all it is until they show us
- 31:59Speaker 2: they can do it, prove it to us, because they
- 32:02Speaker 2: have been able to do it at all this season.
- 32:04Speaker 2: Sea One saving the day as we broke down and
- 32:07Speaker 2: inside the tape on those first two runs where he
- 32:09Speaker 2: actually is the one who made it.
- 32:10Speaker 3: The best run stuffer they have is probably Jalen Redmond.
- 32:12Speaker 3: He's a big guy and he's he's really solid and
- 32:15Speaker 3: strong as an interior d tackle.
- 32:17Speaker 1: Those Vikings have had to play base defense and in
- 32:20Speaker 1: order to mount this year. Because I mentioned, not only
- 32:22Speaker 1: are they seeing the third most or the second highest
- 32:26Speaker 1: rate of runs, they're seeing the third highest rate of
- 32:29Speaker 1: twelve personnel in the NFL.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Wow.
- 32:32Speaker 1: So I imagine the Eagles now we mentioned they've played.
- 32:36Speaker 3: It's funny you say that because they've played sixty one
- 32:39Speaker 3: percent of their snaps in base defense, which is an
- 32:42Speaker 3: ordinary high percentage. They've not played. They've only played about
- 32:47Speaker 3: twenty three percent in nickel and maybe fifteen percent in dime.
- 32:51Speaker 3: They've played a ton of base defense this year.
- 32:54Speaker 2: Jeff Jalen Redman is number sixty one. Okay, he's at Oklahoma.
- 32:58Speaker 2: He was an undresered free agent for the panther A
- 33:00Speaker 2: twenty three. And this kid is bounced around on and off,
- 33:02Speaker 2: on and off, on and off. But now he's starting.
- 33:05Speaker 2: Give this guy Krez a good story. But look, he's
- 33:08Speaker 2: the guy that was not drafted. So if you look
- 33:10Speaker 2: at this stee lion, it's very beatable. There's a reason
- 33:13Speaker 2: why they've given up some games, some big yardist games
- 33:15Speaker 2: in Russian Kenny gainwell of all people almost at one
- 33:17Speaker 2: hundred yards.
- 33:18Speaker 1: Yeah, but you got to remember what the Steelers did
- 33:20Speaker 1: a lot. I'm sure Greg soid on tape. I mean
- 33:22Speaker 1: not only in that game. They played an extra guard.
- 33:24Speaker 1: So they were playing six offensive linemen and they're big
- 33:28Speaker 1: what's that big big ass tight ends name Mount Washington, McCalls.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Or now Washington, Oh my god.
- 33:33Speaker 1: So they're literally putting seven or eight people over sixty
- 33:37Speaker 1: five to three hundred, and that limits what you can
- 33:39Speaker 1: do from a passing game. So they clearly. I don't
- 33:42Speaker 1: know what to make of the fact that the Vikings
- 33:44Speaker 1: have been counteract. They've been in base because teams are
- 33:47Speaker 1: constantly heavy upfront against them, and I sort of take
- 33:51Speaker 1: that as a teams don't really want to mess around
- 33:54Speaker 1: too much in the passing game against Brian Flores. They're
- 33:57Speaker 1: trying to stabilize their offense, stay ahead of the sticks,
- 34:00Speaker 1: and give themselves better third downs because if you get
- 34:03Speaker 1: behind schedule on this Flora's defense, you're going to be
- 34:07Speaker 1: see a lot of different rushers from different angles right right,
- 34:09Speaker 1: So it's like a respect I almost a sign of respect.
- 34:13Speaker 2: But also but Jeff, it's also matchups. If your Lyne
- 34:15Speaker 2: look at this heavy offensive line. Let's just take it
- 34:19Speaker 2: for what we know that they've struggled this year, but
- 34:21Speaker 2: you see their massive ego, massive offensive line right against
- 34:24Speaker 2: that front, they should be able to run the ball.
- 34:26Speaker 1: I agree.
- 34:26Speaker 2: I don't think it's a matter if you can't throw it.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Of course you can, but I don't need.
- 34:30Speaker 3: To make the argument that for the last two years,
- 34:34Speaker 3: how long has Dickerson been here? Land In Dickerson, this
- 34:36Speaker 3: is his fifth.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Year, He's uh four, I know he's got three straight
- 34:40Speaker 1: Pro Bowls, and I.
- 34:41Speaker 3: Thought, certainly. So let's go back the last three years.
- 34:45Speaker 3: You make the argument that the left side of their
- 34:48Speaker 3: offensive line, okay, may Alatta and Dickerson was the best
- 34:53Speaker 3: run blocking duo in the league. Wow, I think that's
- 34:57Speaker 3: a fair argument that can be made.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Sure absolute, you know, you.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Don't do rankings, but that's a strong statement. You would
- 35:02Speaker 2: know you watch all thirty teens.
- 35:04Speaker 3: Now, it hasn't been that way this year. And I
- 35:05Speaker 3: think you can make that statement too.
- 35:07Speaker 2: If Greg, I would say that this is probably a
- 35:12Speaker 2: bottom half of the NFL and offensive line right now.
- 35:14Speaker 3: But I mean those two guys, Jeff, I mean, you know,
- 35:18Speaker 3: that's they were the best duo in terms of run blocking,
- 35:20Speaker 3: you know, in the league. And it's not been that
- 35:23Speaker 3: way now. And that's a big deal.
- 35:25Speaker 2: Right Hey, Jeff, you know the COSO line, it's in there.
- 35:28Speaker 3: It's there.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Yep.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Yeah, let's hope it's there for their sake, because Greg
- 35:33Speaker 2: just outlined it. They were the best.
- 35:36Speaker 3: Every season is different. Every coach will tell you that.
- 35:38Speaker 3: They'll tell you every week is different, much less every season,
- 35:41Speaker 3: but every every season is different, you know, and and
- 35:44Speaker 3: but but the you know, the bottom line is because
- 35:47Speaker 3: I hear that a lot on on you know, I
- 35:49Speaker 3: hear a lot on social media when people tell me
- 35:53Speaker 3: I don't know anything about football, you know they they
- 35:57Speaker 3: they say, well, then Eagles have to do different things. Well,
- 36:00Speaker 3: yes and no. I mean you still have to play
- 36:02Speaker 3: to what your players are. You know, like, you can't
- 36:05Speaker 3: all of a sudden do something that your players can't
- 36:07Speaker 3: do or you don't feel that they can do.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Right. I mean, based on what we've just talked about
- 36:13Speaker 1: and how the Vikings play d I would say the
- 36:16Speaker 1: key for the Eagles is to get an early run
- 36:18Speaker 1: game going, but not just just get stay ahead of schedule,
- 36:22Speaker 1: stay ahead of the sticks. When you do run well,
- 36:25Speaker 1: go to your no huddle, because the Vikings can substitute
- 36:28Speaker 1: quite a bit of it. Go to your no huddle
- 36:31Speaker 1: and then set up some favorable passing situations for you
- 36:35Speaker 1: where you're not letting the Vikings tee off on you
- 36:39Speaker 1: and show you all these multiple fronts and show you
- 36:41Speaker 1: these disguises. You know, you negate that if you can
- 36:43Speaker 1: run the ball well, and then maybe even set up
- 36:46Speaker 1: some RPO and then you take your shots when they're there.
- 36:49Speaker 3: I agree, I think the no huddle is critical in
- 36:52Speaker 3: this game. But the key to that is you've got
- 36:54Speaker 3: to get ahead of the sticks.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Right.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Sometimes we say like this might be the day where
- 36:58Speaker 1: you just come out throw and come out through, But
- 37:00Speaker 1: I don't think that that's a great thing for this
- 37:02Speaker 1: offense right now. I think they need to re establish
- 37:05Speaker 1: dominance in the trenches in their run game and then
- 37:08Speaker 1: work off of that against this team.
- 37:09Speaker 3: Well, it won't surprise me if they took a shot
- 37:11Speaker 3: early just to you know, hey, we can take a shot.
- 37:14Speaker 2: But overall, Jeff, this team when they're at their best,
- 37:17Speaker 2: we saw it last year, the run of the hell
- 37:18Speaker 2: out of it and then work off of that, and
- 37:21Speaker 2: it's just it. And also we all know this offensive
- 37:24Speaker 2: lineman love it when they're getting off the ball. It's
- 37:25Speaker 2: just that they like they feel when they're feeling it
- 37:29Speaker 2: last year, all NFL film stuff that just that whether
- 37:33Speaker 2: what might it's incredible.
- 37:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean that's that's kind of who they are,
- 37:38Speaker 3: you know, so right, But you're right, Jeff, I mean
- 37:40Speaker 3: I think they still this is a game and I
- 37:42Speaker 3: mentioned this earlier where I think you will have some
- 37:45Speaker 3: opportunities to hit aj Brown over the top onto too.
- 37:48Speaker 3: Theoretically sure, but I mean AJ has been that guy
- 37:52Speaker 3: since his time in Philly. And yeah, I mean I
- 37:55Speaker 3: think you have to take that shot in this game.
- 37:57Speaker 3: A couple of times you can't, you know, don't condense
- 38:00Speaker 3: your own offense.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Right, All right, let's get into the Eagles defense against
- 38:06Speaker 1: the Minnesota offense, and again we will pause real quick
- 38:09Speaker 1: for a word from our great sponsors. Hey, fall is

- 40:23Speaker 1: community with specials for fans, students, service members, and healthcare pros.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Cam din Apothecary top quality cannabis, great prices, and an
- 40:33Speaker 1: experience made for Philly fans twenty one and up. All Right,
- 40:37Speaker 1: so we mentioned upfront that the Eagles have not been
- 40:40Speaker 1: rushing the passer well, that Jylen Carter himself has not
- 40:43Speaker 1: been playing well, and we'll see if he's even playing
- 40:46Speaker 1: in the game. But you know, we talked about what
- 40:48Speaker 1: the keys are Offensively. I think defensively, I think if
- 40:53Speaker 1: it's not sacking, it's gotta be harassment. It's gotta be
- 40:56Speaker 1: getting Minnesota and getting Carson uncomfortable in the pocket. He
- 41:00Speaker 1: will give you opportunities if you can get him uncomfortable.
- 41:04Speaker 1: And obviously the Vikings Adam benefit from having their offensive
- 41:08Speaker 1: line a little bit more intact. So you, if you're Vic,
- 41:11Speaker 1: you may think again. And now you don't have Zadarias Smith,
- 41:15Speaker 1: this guy might have to blitz even more than he's
- 41:16Speaker 1: been blitzing already.
- 41:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean look, yeah, the Eagle's cash rusher simply,
- 41:25Speaker 2: I mean with you mentioned it was Sadarius Smith alto
- 41:28Speaker 2: it's not ready yet. Sometime hopefully for their sake early
- 41:32Speaker 2: after the bye that he'll be back. But as Greg
- 41:36Speaker 2: told us as many times, he learned from his late
- 41:39Speaker 2: friend Rod Ross, who I actually met sitting at an
- 41:41Speaker 2: NFL films. Rod's super nice guy. And you can't come
- 41:44Speaker 2: with four, you bring five. You can't get home with five,
- 41:46Speaker 2: you bring six. This is an offensive line that could
- 41:48Speaker 2: be beat It's not bad, but they're beat up a
- 41:50Speaker 2: little bit.
- 41:51Speaker 3: Well. I think the most fascinating thing about the Eagles
- 41:53Speaker 3: defense this year is how much Cover one they've played.
- 41:57Speaker 2: Which they were not doing at all last night.
- 41:59Speaker 1: Which is usually man defense.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Right.
- 42:01Speaker 3: Yeah, it's Cover one is man covered with his realized safety.
- 42:04Speaker 3: And given their issues at corner, that's again, I'm not
- 42:09Speaker 3: as smart as Vic Fangio, so I'm not gonna sit
- 42:11Speaker 3: here and say he's right or wrong. Just surprising that
- 42:13Speaker 3: they played so much Cover one. They've played cover one
- 42:17Speaker 3: on probably forty five percent of their snaps versus opposing
- 42:20Speaker 3: quarterback dropbacks. Now, if Quinnon Mitchell can go, it's will
- 42:25Speaker 3: definitely be a game where he will he will be.
- 42:28Speaker 2: The matter of okay, opposite him as Jackson. So so
- 42:34Speaker 2: let's you talk about you asked me about the past rush.
- 42:36Speaker 2: I think it's kind of a scene like they'll have
- 42:38Speaker 2: a plan. Obviously you always have a plan, but it's
- 42:40Speaker 2: not a game. Carson Wentz is a big dude.
- 42:44Speaker 3: Again, he's I mean, aconly, but I could almost see.
- 42:47Speaker 3: I didn't mean to interrupt you, just a thought hit me.
- 42:49Speaker 3: You know, I could almost see if they feel Quinnon
- 42:52Speaker 3: Mitchell is true. I mean, I know he doesn't have
- 42:53Speaker 3: an injury designation, but if they really feel he's truly
- 42:57Speaker 3: healthy with no limitations to his game, I could see them.
- 43:01Speaker 3: And I'm just throwing this out. I don't know. They
- 43:03Speaker 3: might not do this at all. Line up in a
- 43:05Speaker 3: quarter structure, have Mitchell in a sense play zero man
- 43:10Speaker 3: on Jefferson. You know, hey, he's Quinon. Mitchell's our guy.
- 43:14Speaker 3: He's a top five corner in the league and then
- 43:17Speaker 3: have the safety to that side pretty much poach and
- 43:21Speaker 3: work toward the other side because you know and and
- 43:25Speaker 3: basically just let Quinnon play zero man on Jefferson. Now,
- 43:30Speaker 3: like I said, something like that wouldn't happen on every
- 43:32Speaker 3: single snap, but I could see that happening depending on
- 43:35Speaker 3: what the if Jefferson is the boundary X, let's say,
- 43:37Speaker 3: on given plays, I could see them doing that.
- 43:40Speaker 1: So you're basically trying to take both guys out instead.
- 43:43Speaker 3: Of one or the other.
- 43:44Speaker 1: You're basically one guy out with mega beverage best.
- 43:46Speaker 3: Corner on Jefferson with zero man, and then having five
- 43:49Speaker 3: or six defenders that can play to the trip side
- 43:52Speaker 3: and you can win the numbers game over there.
- 43:54Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, But in terms of pressure, to me, this
- 44:00Speaker 2: is one you feel like if now see, this is
- 44:02Speaker 2: where Carter comes in. If pregame warm ups go well
- 44:05Speaker 2: with the heel and I know the shoulders not on
- 44:08Speaker 2: the injury report, but you simply don't know what he
- 44:11Speaker 2: is physically right now because.
- 44:12Speaker 3: He hasn't been a really good pass rusher this year.
- 44:14Speaker 1: I know.
- 44:15Speaker 2: That's why I'm gonna get to so jeff he'd been normal,
- 44:18Speaker 2: I'm not blitzing because you could he could, he could
- 44:20Speaker 2: beat this. They don't have many studs on their offensive
- 44:22Speaker 2: line other than Darsol.
- 44:23Speaker 1: Darshall has just come back to his A c l
- 44:25Speaker 1: O'Neil's pretty good, isn't he.
- 44:27Speaker 2: He's a right tackle. I'm told about the interior where
- 44:28Speaker 2: he lines up the interior. Let me make that clear.
- 44:31Speaker 2: In the interior, I mean this is just this is
- 44:35Speaker 2: something you would normally think he could win. He my
- 44:38Speaker 2: buddy who has uh who does proportional from another team,
- 44:41Speaker 2: told me because he did a study on the Eagles.
- 44:44Speaker 2: He said, there's it's very rare that Carter would not
- 44:46Speaker 2: win in one one, one on one. But that's when
- 44:48Speaker 2: I told you months ago. Double teams he rarely beat them.
- 44:53Speaker 2: But now that he's not himself, you simply have to
- 44:57Speaker 2: bring pressure.
- 44:58Speaker 1: But you know he.
- 45:00Speaker 2: Fancher's not a fifty percent polity. He's not doing that. No, No,
- 45:03Speaker 2: he's not gonna he's but I think at the minimum,
- 45:07Speaker 2: and I'll send this back to you is selectively blitz
- 45:11Speaker 2: and Wentz. Look, Wentz is a never say die guy.
- 45:13Speaker 2: He's he doesn't give up. That's why he'll turn the
- 45:16Speaker 2: ball over even when he's mentally and physically right, he doesn't.
- 45:21Speaker 2: He'll take a sack. He might throw a pick, as
- 45:23Speaker 2: you were alluding to earlier. So I'm gonna be interested
- 45:26Speaker 2: to see what their approach is because Greg talked about
- 45:29Speaker 2: that awful game last year when he remember when Wentz
- 45:31Speaker 2: was totally lost with Washington. He was terrible against the Eagles, terrible, right,
- 45:36Speaker 2: you know.
- 45:36Speaker 1: So, so if you remember when we were talking about
- 45:39Speaker 1: the Eagles past rush and how to improve it, we
- 45:41Speaker 1: said one thing that people felt we're getting misled by
- 45:45Speaker 1: was the idea that Nikobe Dean could just go play
- 45:48Speaker 1: linebacker and you moved Jahid Dampbell to the outside, because
- 45:51Speaker 1: our constant rebuttal to that was, well, who are you
- 45:54Speaker 1: taking off the field on the edges? Then if you're
- 45:56Speaker 1: moving Johide Campbell there, well guess what. Since that discussion,
- 46:00Speaker 1: Zadarius Smith has taken himself off the field by retiring.
- 46:03Speaker 1: So now now, which a totally different equation and this conversation,
- 46:10Speaker 1: it might make a little more sense if you feel
- 46:13Speaker 1: Nikobe Dean is up to it and he got his
- 46:15Speaker 1: legs under him and against that, the Giants maybe start
- 46:19Speaker 1: playing John Campbell on the edge more.
- 46:20Speaker 2: Greg in college at Alabama. I know he would transition
- 46:23Speaker 2: to inside backer, but as just a pass rusher. What
- 46:26Speaker 2: do you remember about his tape as a pass rusher,
- 46:28Speaker 2: Johan anything off hand?
- 46:31Speaker 3: I mean, I could look at my notes, but I
- 46:33Speaker 3: don't remember him being like, oh my god, look at
- 46:35Speaker 3: this guy. He's an unbelievable pass rusher. I mean he
- 46:38Speaker 3: did rush, for sure, but you know I didn't. I
- 46:41Speaker 3: didn't look at him and think this guy is going
- 46:43Speaker 3: to come into the NFL and be a pass rusher.
- 46:46Speaker 1: But in fairness, he didn't get a whole lot of opportunities.
- 46:49Speaker 1: They had Anderson, Will Anderson, And who's the other guy
- 46:53Speaker 1: that they had, Dallas turn He's on the vikings right now.
- 46:57Speaker 2: You'll see him on the other side. He starts.
- 46:58Speaker 3: Now.
- 46:58Speaker 1: By the way, I noticed that Dallas Turner. When they
- 47:01Speaker 1: had Van Ginkel and Grenard healthy, right, they would use
- 47:04Speaker 1: Dallas Turner on the line a little bit to give
- 47:06Speaker 1: him a little extra juice up front. But now he
- 47:08Speaker 1: basically has to stand up and play any linebacker.
- 47:12Speaker 3: Yeah, he did brush the quarterback. I'm looking at my notes. Okay,
- 47:17Speaker 3: So what I said was wrong because here's a note
- 47:20Speaker 3: I made as an edge pass rusher showed explosive get
- 47:23Speaker 3: off striking with hands with bend in flexibility to flatten
- 47:26Speaker 3: a rush path. And then I said, in my transition,
- 47:29Speaker 3: I said, will Campbell project as a stacked linebacker or
- 47:32Speaker 3: will team see him as a sub front edge pass
- 47:34Speaker 3: rusher or linebacker. My senses, he will project. And obviously
- 47:38Speaker 3: this turned out to be wrong. Project as a sub
- 47:40Speaker 3: packaged player early in his career with his ability to
- 47:43Speaker 3: both rush the quarterback and effectively play underneath zone coverage.
- 47:47Speaker 3: So he did rush the quarterback at Alabama.
- 47:50Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 47:51Speaker 2: But Jeff, this is what we were talked about weeks
- 47:54Speaker 2: or months ago, that he's really ahead of schedule.
- 47:56Speaker 3: This is not right.
- 47:57Speaker 2: No one really saw him, and I'm not thinking it's
- 48:00Speaker 2: been perfect. I mean, he set some issues against the
- 48:02Speaker 2: run liately, but overall, Jeff, he's so much farther ahead.
- 48:04Speaker 3: But he's a twitch kid. I mean, he's he's got
- 48:07Speaker 3: you know. I said that he looked like a different
- 48:10Speaker 3: player as an edge pass rusher based on his college tape,
- 48:13Speaker 3: with sudden twitch off the ball, using his hands, he
- 48:15Speaker 3: could bend, he's flexible, he had closing burst. I mean
- 48:19Speaker 3: he to me, he actually looked better. Now that I'm
- 48:21Speaker 3: remembering my notes, I've seen my notes and remembering him,
- 48:23Speaker 3: he actually looked better as an edge pass rusher than
- 48:26Speaker 3: he did as a stack backer at PAMA.
- 48:29Speaker 2: Really yeah, Okay, Well you know what, Jeff, I think
- 48:33Speaker 2: it's time that Vick. You always comes down to this,
- 48:37Speaker 2: what's what's the best decision for your football team. If
- 48:39Speaker 2: Dean's all the way back, you start working in an
- 48:41Speaker 2: inside backer. The pass rush is not his below average,
- 48:44Speaker 2: let's call it what it is, right because of Carter
- 48:47Speaker 2: and his problems with his injuries.
- 48:49Speaker 3: Well, Milton Williams has been a big.
- 48:50Speaker 2: Loss that one too. And sweaty yeah, I mean year
- 48:54Speaker 2: last year.
- 48:54Speaker 3: I mean he had that down year where everybody thought
- 48:57Speaker 3: he was done probably all of his twenty three and
- 48:59Speaker 3: he had a pretty good year last year.
- 49:01Speaker 1: Greg, What would be your concern level from a run game,
- 49:04Speaker 1: standpoint run defense for the Eagles without Zadarias Smith, who
- 49:07Speaker 1: was by far and away their tallest and biggest edge rudher,
- 49:11Speaker 1: there will probably be snaps out there where you have
- 49:14Speaker 1: a two hundred and twenty six pound at the edge
- 49:17Speaker 1: and then a two hundred and forty pound ojelari Actually,
- 49:20Speaker 1: I think O two thirty five. I mean they're going
- 49:22Speaker 1: to be at times very light on the edges. Do
- 49:26Speaker 1: the Vikings typically run outside zone or inside zone? Not
- 49:32Speaker 1: that that always matters, by the way, Yeah.
- 49:33Speaker 3: I think they run kind of both. I you know,
- 49:35Speaker 3: I don't know. I can't remember specifically what's a higher
- 49:38Speaker 3: percentage run. But you know, Mason is an inside type runner.
- 49:43Speaker 3: You're not You're not looking to get Mason on the edges, okay,
- 49:46Speaker 3: because that's not his strength. You know, you've got to
- 49:48Speaker 3: play to what his strength is. You know, it's not
- 49:50Speaker 3: you're not gonna be tall. Now. I'm not saying you're
- 49:52Speaker 3: never gonna run pinpull ever, you know, but he's not
- 49:55Speaker 3: a guy you're looking to get on the perimeter. So
- 49:58Speaker 3: it has to be tough inside running.
- 50:00Speaker 1: Right and runs inside by you can you can be
- 50:02Speaker 1: an inside runner and get a great seal block by
- 50:05Speaker 1: your right tackle and your right guard and and sort
- 50:07Speaker 1: of squeeze that hole on the right side that's still
- 50:10Speaker 1: inside but not necessarily an outside run. And that's where
- 50:13Speaker 1: the Eagles have to be careful with their lightness. Yeah.
- 50:17Speaker 3: But I mean, he's uh, he's really one of those
- 50:19Speaker 3: guys that's a grinder. You know, he's a sustainer. I mean,
- 50:23Speaker 3: you know, I think that ultimately when you think about
- 50:26Speaker 3: Kevin O'Connell and his background, there was a zone team
- 50:29Speaker 3: more than a gap scheme team. So now you get
- 50:33Speaker 3: into the delineations jet between the different kinds of zone runs.
- 50:37Speaker 3: You know, some teams call inside zone, you know, then
- 50:40Speaker 3: you get mid zone versus wide zone, stretch zone, is
- 50:43Speaker 3: it wide zone? I mean you get into all those delineations,
- 50:46Speaker 3: and every team sort of you know, names those things
- 50:49Speaker 3: differently zone team than a gap scheme.
- 50:52Speaker 2: Yeah, Stefana says, oh, wide zone, mid zone. Oh, by
- 50:55Speaker 2: the way. Now the other kid, the other kids, thirty six,
- 50:57Speaker 2: Zavier Scott. We talked about it briefly with a show
- 50:59Speaker 2: early this week. He's a good football player. He's kind
- 51:02Speaker 2: of worked his way up. He's now the number two.
- 51:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 51:05Speaker 2: Aaron Jones comes back. So he's a big kid. He
- 51:08Speaker 2: had a fumble. They benched him briefly a couple of
- 51:10Speaker 2: games ago, but he's definitely the backup. You can catch
- 51:12Speaker 2: the football. He's greg he's a good player man. This
- 51:16Speaker 2: kid from Maine, from Maine.
- 51:18Speaker 3: He's a big kid too. He's about two hundred and twenty.
- 51:21Speaker 3: He's a big kid.
- 51:22Speaker 2: You're gonna see here at third Yeah. The black Bear Yeah,
- 51:25Speaker 2: black Bear right and black Bears. Yeah.
- 51:27Speaker 1: Shout out to Danny Collins, local Soel Jersey Q to
- 51:29Speaker 1: play quarterback there. So all right, that's good. We've we've
- 51:34Speaker 1: analyzed this game every way we can offensively and defensively,
- 51:38Speaker 1: and we're gonna end it the same way we always do.
- 51:40Speaker 1: We are going to predict the score and the MVP.
- 51:43Speaker 2: I'm going, how do you predict?
- 51:46Speaker 3: And I'm saying this honestly, sure because I did give
- 51:49Speaker 3: this a maybe fifteen seconds of thought today, so appreciate that.
- 51:52Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, how do you honestly predict what the
- 51:56Speaker 3: Eagles are right now? I don't know how to do that.
- 51:59Speaker 1: You don't.
- 51:59Speaker 3: Let's say, all of a sudden, the Eagles look like
- 52:01Speaker 3: the Eagles. Okay, could they win this game thirty to
- 52:05Speaker 3: twenty one? They could? Yeah, you know, let's say they
- 52:08Speaker 3: look like the Eagles against this run defense, and all
- 52:10Speaker 3: of a sudden, Barkley runs for one fifty I mean
- 52:12Speaker 3: the carpet, Yeah, you know, it could. I don't. I
- 52:16Speaker 3: don't know. I'm and I'm just being honest. I'm just
- 52:20Speaker 3: making up a guest here because I have no idea
- 52:22Speaker 3: what to expect from the Eagles, you know, because sometimes
- 52:25Speaker 3: teams that do have a championship pedigree can get it
- 52:29Speaker 3: back together and a certain kind of opponent can help
- 52:31Speaker 3: them do that. Or sometimes a team just snowballs, no
- 52:35Speaker 3: matter what, in the wrong direction. I don't know where
- 52:38Speaker 3: they are right now.
- 52:39Speaker 1: Well, let me ask you, Greg, give them what you
- 52:41Speaker 1: just said. What do you think the line is? I
- 52:43Speaker 1: know you don't pay attention to that stuff. I don't
- 52:44Speaker 1: have any idea, So it's a good question to ask you.
- 52:46Speaker 1: What do you think the odds makers think of this game?
- 52:49Speaker 3: And I would think that Minnesota would be favored by
- 52:53Speaker 3: more than the three and a half points that I
- 52:55Speaker 3: think is normally considered like a home advantage. Is that true?
- 52:59Speaker 1: Three points for home?
- 52:59Speaker 3: Yeah? All right, so I would think they'd be favored
- 53:03Speaker 3: by more. But again I don't know. You know, this
- 53:05Speaker 3: is not my area of expertise.
- 53:07Speaker 1: Clearly, the Eagles are two and a half point road favorites.
- 53:12Speaker 3: That's because of their pedigree. They're super world champions.
- 53:16Speaker 1: It's because of everything you just said. Right, People who
- 53:20Speaker 1: do this for a living, who make odds don't want
- 53:22Speaker 1: to pick that week where the Eagles actually play like
- 53:25Speaker 1: the Eagles and go and route a team that they're
- 53:27Speaker 1: clearly on paper better than, but haven't been playing necessarily better.
- 53:31Speaker 3: Than because we live in a world of so much media,
- 53:35Speaker 3: social media, and everything gets evaluated week to week. You know,
- 53:40Speaker 3: people like, would I be surprised if all of a sudden,
- 53:43Speaker 3: Barkley ran for one fifty this week? I wouldn't be surprised,
- 53:47Speaker 3: you know, because of the fact that they're capable of
- 53:50Speaker 3: it and the opponent, you know. But on the other hand,
- 53:54Speaker 3: if he rushed fifteen for forty two, I wouldn't be
- 53:56Speaker 3: surprised by that either, you know. Sure, I you know,
- 54:01Speaker 3: I don't know how to answer this. So having said
- 54:03Speaker 3: all that, you know, we just analyzed the game, I
- 54:05Speaker 3: hope people take the analysis more than my BS pick.
- 54:08Speaker 3: Right now, that.
- 54:11Speaker 1: Starts off, Greg, what is your BS.
- 54:14Speaker 3: I'm gonna I'm going to pick the Vikings, and not
- 54:17Speaker 3: because I have any great, you know, fear. I just
- 54:21Speaker 3: feel like they're coming off of bye, they're playing pretty
- 54:23Speaker 3: good ball. You know, I'm going to pick them to
- 54:28Speaker 3: win twenty seven. Just you know, That's what I'm gonna.
- 54:32Speaker 1: Do, all right, And who's your player of the game.
- 54:35Speaker 3: Then you know what, it might sound crazy, don't I'm
- 54:44Speaker 3: gonna pick t J. Hockinson.
- 54:46Speaker 1: Okay, really well, if you had said Carson Wentz, the
- 54:50Speaker 1: Eagle fan really thought you would be trolling them.
- 54:52Speaker 2: So that's Hockinson.
- 54:55Speaker 1: Okay, Hockinson, I like it all right, good, good, Adam?
- 54:58Speaker 1: What are you about you?
- 54:59Speaker 2: I thought you were going to go? Uh okay, want
- 55:02Speaker 2: to go? I'm gonna go.
- 55:04Speaker 1: So here's what I have.
- 55:06Speaker 2: I have my issues with the Eagles here. With Dickerson, Yes,
- 55:09Speaker 2: he's been clear to play, but will he last? Carter's
- 55:12Speaker 2: clearly not himself. Greg is outlining from his tape study.
- 55:15Speaker 2: You know he's got this new heel injury. But had
- 55:18Speaker 2: he been the man that he was last year, forget
- 55:21Speaker 2: I mean, I would have loved the Eagles big in
- 55:23Speaker 2: this game. I don't care if Whence is playing well
- 55:26Speaker 2: or not. Carter is a home wrecker when he's when
- 55:28Speaker 2: he's himself. But but then with Minnesota, I look at
- 55:31Speaker 2: the problems they have a corner. This is a beatable secondary.
- 55:34Speaker 1: I like.
- 55:35Speaker 2: I like the fact that they're on the carpet here.
- 55:39Speaker 2: They had a little bit of extra time off I'm
- 55:41Speaker 2: going to give the Eagles coaches credit in terms of
- 55:43Speaker 2: they know that they've Stout is the chief leader of this.
- 55:46Speaker 2: He's got to get this run game going. It's his
- 55:48Speaker 2: responsibility as the run game designer. I think this is
- 55:53Speaker 2: a really tight game. Van Kinkill not playing is a
- 55:56Speaker 2: huge deal. I cannot underestimate how big of a deal
- 55:59Speaker 2: that is. Therefore, going to go with Eagles twenty four
- 56:01Speaker 2: to twenty all right, Eagles twenty four.
- 56:04Speaker 1: At first, I wasn't sure where you were going.
- 56:06Speaker 3: With I know, I honestly, you freaking write a novel here.
- 56:09Speaker 3: I thought, I'm trying to score.
- 56:12Speaker 2: I'm like you, I have to give people some information. No,
- 56:15Speaker 2: but anyway, I look it. It's a tough one. But
- 56:18Speaker 2: you know, I'm weighing what's gone for both teams. It
- 56:21Speaker 2: could go either way.
- 56:22Speaker 1: Yeah, but this is uh.
- 56:24Speaker 2: I don't I don't do must win necessarily. But I'm
- 56:26Speaker 2: feeling like these coaches are going to take good use
- 56:28Speaker 2: of their time off gout. Yeah I do.
- 56:30Speaker 1: I appreciate that you gave your most thoughtful, insightful commentary
- 56:33Speaker 1: for the part of the show that matters the least.
- 56:35Speaker 1: That's good, really nice. The score prediction. I did that
- 56:40Speaker 1: thing where I rationalized, you know, I went back and
- 56:43Speaker 1: forth just like we did. You're going to give myself
- 56:45Speaker 1: so many reasons to agree with Greg that the Vikings
- 56:47Speaker 1: were going to win, and then I decided to pick
- 56:49Speaker 1: the Eagles anyway, twenty three to twenty So twenty three
- 56:53Speaker 1: to twenty Yeah, twenty three twenty Saquon Barker is going
- 56:56Speaker 1: to be my player of the game. And I just
- 56:58Speaker 1: have this feeling it's like a tie game. He breaks
- 57:00Speaker 1: a long run with a very little time left field backled,
- 57:04Speaker 1: and he sets up a field goal that they win,
- 57:06Speaker 1: and they went on and they went ugly on a
- 57:07Speaker 1: field goal, and nobody's happy about it. In the long run,
- 57:11Speaker 1: someone win these days, So that's good.
- 57:15Speaker 3: That's what I say.
- 57:16Speaker 1: Eagles twenty three, Vikings twenty with Saquon as the m
- 57:19Speaker 1: v P. That's gonna do it. For this episode of
- 57:22Speaker 1: the Inside the Birds pregame show for Greg Cosel, I'm
- 57:26Speaker 1: Jeff Mosher and that's Adam Kaplan. We thank you all
- 57:29Speaker 1: for watching and enjoy your football
