- 0:53- Welcome to the divine five one five podcast.
- 0:57- Here is today's prayer.
- 1:04- Hello, and welcome to today's
- 1:07- prayer focus where we're talking about
- 1:10- praying for God's will
- 1:12- versus asking him to bless our plans.
- 1:16- And the prayer scripture
- 1:18- that we're focusing on today comes from first
- 1:20- John five fourteen through 15,
- 1:24- which simply says, and this is the confidence
- 1:26- that we have toward him,
- 1:28- that if we ask anything according to his
- 1:31- will,
- 1:32- he hears us. And if we know that
- 1:35- he hears us,
- 1:36- whatever we ask, we know that we have
- 1:39- the request that we have made of him.
- 1:43- Now
- 1:44- I wanna start the conversation
- 1:47- by,
- 1:48- pointing out a couple of things in this
- 1:50- scripture.
- 1:52- Number one, the scripture is telling us that
- 1:56- there's a confidence that we have that we
- 1:58- can boldly come to the throne of grace
- 2:00- and ask God
- 2:02- and make our petitions known.
- 2:04- Why? Because he's our father. And like any
- 2:08- good parent,
- 2:10- the child can go to the parent. And
- 2:13- I've often made reference that maybe you did
- 2:15- not have the best
- 2:17- parental child relationship, so my heart goes out
- 2:20- to you. But to remember
- 2:22- that God is not like man.
- 2:24- He is the original parental template.
- 2:27- And
- 2:29- everything that he does, regardless of whether we
- 2:32- understand it or not, is good. And because
- 2:35- he's the perfect parent, we can come
- 2:38- to him with whatever it is we're facing
- 2:42- with confidence
- 2:43- because
- 2:45- he tells us ahead of time that he's
- 2:47- going to hear us.
- 2:50- So
- 2:51- while we may keep telling him,
- 2:55- don't tell him because you don't think he's
- 2:57- hearing you, because he heard you the first
- 2:59- time.
- 3:01- But rather
- 3:02- know that when you come to him, it's
- 3:05- always about
- 3:07- the concept
- 3:08- of relationship
- 3:10- building.
- 3:11- Knowing that whatever it is that we ask,
- 3:13- he'll grant it. But the key is
- 3:16- not according to what our will is, but
- 3:19- his will.
- 3:22- And that's a really important thing to remember
- 3:25- because
- 3:26- sometimes
- 3:28- when we come to prayer, we already have
- 3:30- our minds made up.
- 3:32- So when we line up our will with
- 3:35- God's will,
- 3:36- it'll help shift our mindset.
- 3:41- We always wanna go
- 3:44- toward God's direction
- 3:46- so that he will approve what we've already
- 3:49- decided.
- 3:50- Why?
- 3:51- Because he's given his given us his heart
- 3:55- and his mind.
- 3:57- And it's always a good thing to remember
- 3:59- that true discernment
- 4:01- doesn't just require
- 4:03- a made up mind,
- 4:04- but
- 4:05- surrender.
- 4:08- That being said,
- 4:09- let's pray together.
- 4:12- Heavenly father, search our heart and reveal any
- 4:15- place where we've been holding
- 4:18- too tightly
- 4:19- to our own plans.
- 4:23- Help us
- 4:24- to desire your will above
- 4:27- our
- 4:28- preferences.
- 4:29- Teach us to come to prayer with open
- 4:32- hands
- 4:33- and a willing spirit.
- 4:37- Give us the courage we need to follow
- 4:39- whatever it is you lead,
- 4:44- knowing and trusting that your plans are always
- 4:47- better than our own.
- 4:49- And we will bless you in Jesus' name.
- 4:53- If this was a blessing to you today,
- 4:56- continue to follow divine five one five for
- 4:59- daily prayers that help you trust God's direction.
