- 0:44Speaker 5: we are the Avid Endorsemen. Hi, everybody. Hello, Bukes.
- 0:49Speaker 4: How are you, handsome?
- 0:50Speaker 5: What's going on, bro?
- 0:53Speaker 4: Uh, nothing. We spoke not long ago.
- 0:55Speaker 5: I know.
- 0:56Speaker 4: And nothing has changed since then. But I'm very happy
- 1:00Speaker 4: to see you.
- 1:01Speaker 5: I'm happy to see you too, dude. Well, we talked
- 1:03Speaker 5: about it for a nanosecond because we've only talked for
- 1:05Speaker 5: like two seconds before we started. That's true. That's true.
- 1:08Speaker 5: Very excited. Going to be going to Europe. And while
- 1:12Speaker 5: people are listening to this, we've been in Europe for
- 1:15Speaker 5: some time.
- 1:16Speaker 4: It's been going great.
- 1:17Speaker 5: It's been going great, enjoying it, seeing all the sights.
- 1:20Speaker 4: That one costume malfunction that happened in London. But other
- 1:25Speaker 4: than that, you know.
- 1:26Speaker 5: It's crazy how you would think, how can one have
- 1:29Speaker 5: a nip slip when you're wearing a coat?
- 1:32Speaker 4: It's true. It's true.
- 1:34Speaker 5: But it happened. It's weird.
- 1:36Speaker 4: It's, yeah, it's really something. It's something. You had a
- 1:39Speaker 4: built-in pocket for it, so I.
- 1:41Speaker 5: Don't know if I believe you, but. I just in
- 1:43Speaker 5: Timberlake did, yes.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Which I still think is funny because people are like,
- 1:48Speaker 4: he pulled it down. I was like, well, I don't
- 1:49Speaker 4: think the pulling down was the part like that did
- 1:53Speaker 4: clearly seem like it was supposed to happen. I think
- 1:55Speaker 4: it was the exposure that wasn't necessarily supposed to happen. Yeah.
- 2:00Speaker 5: Oopsie doodle. I'm very excited for this for this tour.
- 2:05Speaker 5: Hell yeah, dude. It's going to be fun. I'm excited.
- 2:07Speaker 5: I'm excited for you. Kelsey and my sister are going
- 2:11Speaker 5: to be coming out in the motherland.
- 2:14Speaker 4: Love that. Of Sweden. So much. That's really fun, man.
- 2:18Speaker 4: That's going to be cool. That'll be cool. Is that
- 2:19Speaker 4: towards the end? I forget.
- 2:21Speaker 5: Right in the middle.
- 2:23Speaker 4: Smackdown in the middle. So I'm kind of excited about that.
- 2:27Speaker 4: That's actually kind of great. Yeah, it'll be nice for you.
- 2:29Speaker 4: Like a little reset.
- 2:31Speaker 5: Yeah a week of uh being with cal's and then
- 2:35Speaker 5: bummed out for the last week i bet that'll.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Be that'll make it easier though i bet don't.
- 2:39Speaker 5: You think dude 100 easier she hasn't come the last
- 2:42Speaker 5: two times that we've been over there i think it's
- 2:44Speaker 5: long i bet it is a long time and she
- 2:47Speaker 5: gets like a vacation too you know what i mean
- 2:50Speaker 5: i mean yes you'll miss the kiddos for sure but
- 2:52Speaker 5: yeah you guys talk so much it's um She gets
- 2:57Speaker 5: a full day in Stockholm before we even get there. Oh,
- 3:01Speaker 5: that's so great for her, too. To acclimate a little
- 3:04Speaker 5: bit and just go. She can see what she wants
- 3:07Speaker 5: to do.
- 3:08Speaker 4: Yeah, totally.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Right.
- 3:09Speaker 5: So it's going to be cool. Love that.
- 3:12Speaker 4: Yeah. That's really fun.
- 3:14Speaker 3: I know.
- 3:14Speaker 5: I'm excited. And I'm glad that our guest is willing
- 3:17Speaker 5: to do this.
- 3:18Speaker 4: With us because.
- 3:19Speaker 5: I'm sure he's getting ready to go, too.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Yes, me as well. I'm a little sad for myself
- 3:23Speaker 4: because I was like, oh, I wonder if Rob wants
- 3:25Speaker 4: to watch the game on something.
- 3:26Speaker 5: And I was like, damn it.
- 3:27Speaker 4: He's going to be gone, isn't he?
- 3:29Speaker 5: Only for the next month. Well, that's what I was thinking.
- 3:32Speaker 4: I was like, damn, now we're going to run out
- 3:33Speaker 4: of time to watch the game together.
- 3:36Speaker 5: Speaking of for the next month.
- 3:38Speaker 4: Tell me.
- 3:40Speaker 5: You should go to the Guthrie Theater because David Strathairn
- 3:43Speaker 5: is playing Godot, waiting for Godot. Oh, and it's the
- 3:47Speaker 5: whole time that I'm gone. Um, but I just saw
- 3:51Speaker 5: an ad for it and I was like, dude, that's
- 3:53Speaker 5: like a legit actor that you could just go and
- 3:57Speaker 5: see in our, in our town.
- 3:59Speaker 4: I'm going to go do that. That sounds fun. You
- 4:01Speaker 4: should absolutely do it. I was so bummed that I
- 4:05Speaker 4: didn't get to see it, but I hope you get to.
- 4:07Speaker 4: I bet.
- 4:08Speaker 5: I'll report back.
- 4:09Speaker 4: It'll be great.
- 4:10Speaker 5: Do it.
- 4:11Speaker 4: Love that. That'll be fun.
- 4:12Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 4:13Speaker 4: Very cool. Have you been watching any films lately?
- 4:16Speaker 2: I have.
- 4:17Speaker 5: I have. Nope, you're good.
- 4:19Speaker 4: I was recommended this film from several folks. I believe
- 4:21Speaker 4: you were one of them. Oh.
- 4:23Speaker 5: But I checked out Pressure on a Delta flight.
- 4:27Speaker 7: Yes.
- 4:27Speaker 5: Have you seen Pressure?
- 4:28Speaker 4: Yes. I believe you brought it up. The meteorological World
- 4:32Speaker 4: War II movie, yeah? Exactly. Yeah.
- 4:35Speaker 5: I like that movie, actually. It is pretty great. Yeah.
- 4:39Speaker 5: I watched it on a Delta flight, but it is
- 4:41Speaker 5: streaming on Peacock now.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Perfect.
- 4:44Speaker 5: It features features Brendan Fraser as Dwight Eisenhower and Andrew
- 4:49Speaker 5: Scott is James Stagg. And what was not explained to
- 4:52Speaker 5: me was that it's all about the weather leading up
- 4:56Speaker 5: to D-Day. I just thought it was like a pressurized situation,
- 4:59Speaker 5: not like an actual pressure.
- 5:00Speaker 4: It's both. yeah it's a clever name a double entendre
- 5:04Speaker 4: if you will entendre uh.
- 5:07Speaker 5: But yeah andrew scott he's a meteorologist trying to determine
- 5:10Speaker 5: when the best time would be to storm the beaches
- 5:12Speaker 5: pretty intense very um his performance was awesome if there
- 5:19Speaker 5: aren't a bunch of crazy oscar movies coming out i
- 5:23Speaker 5: would put him on the short list right now for
- 5:25Speaker 5: best supporting that's a good call that's a good call
- 5:27Speaker 5: He was very impressive. I've liked him in everything I've
- 5:30Speaker 5: seen him in, but he was very talented.
- 5:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree.
- 5:33Speaker 5: He plays just such like a quiet British dude. So
- 5:36Speaker 5: then if there is any emotion, you're like, oh, this
- 5:40Speaker 5: is awesome.
- 5:40Speaker 4: It feels so much bigger in context. Yeah, I like that.
- 5:45Speaker 5: The one thing that did kind of take me out
- 5:46Speaker 5: of it a bit, and I love Brendan Fraser, but
- 5:50Speaker 5: All I saw was Brendan Fraser trying to look like
- 5:53Speaker 5: Dwight Eisenhower. I never really believed he was Ike.
- 5:57Speaker 4: You know what I mean? It's interesting because he's not bad,
- 6:00Speaker 4: but I'm kind of with you. Like I just never
- 6:02Speaker 4: really got like he's too famous now or something.
- 6:04Speaker 5: I don't know. It's almost he just has like such
- 6:07Speaker 5: a distinctive voice.
- 6:09Speaker 4: It's a very strange voice. He's like almost seems like
- 6:12Speaker 4: he's like cracking all the time.
- 6:15Speaker 5: But I just didn't.
- 6:17Speaker 4: I didn't quite buy it.
- 6:18Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 6:18Speaker 5: I didn't just like believe that he was like, you
- 6:21Speaker 5: know what I mean?
- 6:21Speaker 4: Like disappear into it for sure.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:24Speaker 5: I was just like, that's Brendan Fraser. He's doing a
- 6:26Speaker 5: good job. Same, same take. You know what I mean?
- 6:29Speaker 4: A hundred percent.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:30Speaker 4: And I don't know how to explain it better than that,
- 6:32Speaker 4: but yes, I know what you mean. Like you just,
- 6:34Speaker 4: something about it is still like it's Brendan Fraser doing this.
- 6:37Speaker 5: It's kind of like Tom Cruise.
- 6:39Speaker 4: It's like, well, it's Tom Cruise doing this. Not like
- 6:42Speaker 4: a character, you know?
- 6:44Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 6:46Speaker 4: And that's not even, yeah, but I'm with you, too. Like,
- 6:48Speaker 4: not in a bad way, necessarily, just an off-putting way
- 6:51Speaker 4: or something.
- 6:52Speaker 5: But yeah, it was a story that I haven't really
- 6:54Speaker 5: heard before. My dad really liked it, and he is
- 6:57Speaker 5: a World War II.
- 6:58Speaker 4: That's good to know. That's good to know.
- 7:00Speaker 5: Aficionado, I guess you would say. Like, he could teach
- 7:04Speaker 5: a class on it. And when he likes an adaptation of...
- 7:11Speaker 5: a World War II thing, you know that it's at
- 7:12Speaker 5: least historically accurate.
- 7:14Speaker 4: It's at least accurate, yeah.
- 7:14Speaker 5: Right?
- 7:15Speaker 4: Also loved Carrie Condon in that.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:17Speaker 5: I think she's so great. She's always good.
- 7:20Speaker 4: She is always good, you're right.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:22Speaker 5: What was the last movie you watched? Last movie I.
- 7:25Speaker 4: Watched, I had gone to, well, I guess it's not
- 7:27Speaker 4: the last movie, but I went to the theater and
- 7:29Speaker 4: I saw Carolina Caroline.
- 7:32Speaker 5: I haven't seen that yet.
- 7:33Speaker 4: I think it was in the theater for about 14
- 7:36Speaker 4: and a half minutes. I believe it's already out of
- 7:39Speaker 4: the theater. This is a fun movie. A young woman
- 7:44Speaker 4: who is played by.
- 7:44Speaker 5: You've been on a real Samara Weaving kick. Right?
- 7:47Speaker 4: I'm all about Samara Weaving right now. You really are.
- 7:50Speaker 4: I don't know, man. I'm into it. She is great.
- 7:54Speaker 4: And then this guy, Kyle Garner, I'd never really seen
- 7:57Speaker 4: him before, but he was really good in this, too.
- 7:59Speaker 4: This is a movie about he is like a con
- 8:01Speaker 4: man guy. He meets her. There's some chemistry happening. She
- 8:06Speaker 4: joins in on sort of the con man game and
- 8:08Speaker 4: then he's teaching her how to do that. It's kind
- 8:11Speaker 4: of like a. like a different focus that Will Smith
- 8:16Speaker 4: and Margot Robbie movie. Margot, yeah. Similar-ish, only they go
- 8:20Speaker 4: more into like armed robbery territory and then things digress
- 8:25Speaker 4: from there. But I thought it was pretty fun. She's
- 8:30Speaker 4: really great. He's a good actor. The plot, like it's
- 8:34Speaker 4: a little thin at points. Like I don't really know
- 8:37Speaker 4: why they do some of the things they do, but.
- 8:41Speaker 4: it still is super enjoyable. You know, like the, the
- 8:43Speaker 4: teaching people how to do cons is one of those,
- 8:46Speaker 4: like that's a plot device that will almost always work
- 8:49Speaker 4: on me. I feel like to some extent, you know
- 8:52Speaker 4: what I mean? Like, I'm just like, yeah, this is fun.
- 8:54Speaker 4: You're reading people. You're, you know, like all these things.
- 8:57Speaker 4: I think that that stuff's just really interesting and cool.
- 9:00Speaker 4: So yeah, I liked it. I didn't love it. You
- 9:05Speaker 4: get to see a lot of Samara weaving. So if
- 9:07Speaker 4: that's your thing, Congratulations.
- 9:10Speaker 5: Congratulations.
- 9:11Speaker 4: I didn't hate it.
- 9:13Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 9:15Speaker 4: But yeah, I think she's just going to be like
- 9:18Speaker 4: a star or something. I feel like she's been in
- 9:20Speaker 4: so many things lately, and I've seen every second of them.
- 9:23Speaker 5: She's really Anne Hathaway-ing it up.
- 9:26Speaker 4: Big time. And then she's in the X-Men stuff too,
- 9:30Speaker 4: so it's going to get crazy up in here. Cool. Yeah,
- 9:34Speaker 4: she's playing the person January Jones played, I think. okay
- 9:39Speaker 4: yep emma frost that's her name.
- 9:42Speaker 5: Frost and i was like i know she's always in white.
- 9:44Speaker 4: Yes i think it's emma frost is her name yeah
- 9:47Speaker 4: um at least that's what i remember but here we
- 9:50Speaker 4: are uh but yeah uh i don't think it's streaming
- 9:54Speaker 4: anywhere yet and i but it's got to be soon
- 9:56Speaker 4: because like i said i don't even think it's in
- 9:58Speaker 4: the theaters sure yet so carolina caroline carolina caroline kind
- 10:05Speaker 4: of a fun fun little title How about you? What
- 10:08Speaker 4: have you been streaming?
- 10:09Speaker 5: Streaming? Um, I watched, uh, just finished, uh, the, uh,
- 10:15Speaker 5: season finale of Reacher season four just happened yesterday.
- 10:21Speaker 4: I saw that that was out there. I'm excited to
- 10:22Speaker 4: check it out.
- 10:24Speaker 5: Another super fun action filled season with Alan Richardson kicking
- 10:27Speaker 5: a bunch of butt.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Love it.
- 10:30Speaker 5: Uh, this time it's set in Philly. Uh, we get
- 10:32Speaker 5: a couple of recognizable faces, uh, A guy named Christopher
- 10:36Speaker 5: Rodriguez Marquette, who I knew from The Girl Next Door
- 10:39Speaker 5: and Just Friends. He's the brother in Just Friends. Oh, yeah,
- 10:44Speaker 5: I like that dude.
- 10:44Speaker 4: He's also in.
- 10:45Speaker 5: Barry for a little bit.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Yep, yep, totally.
- 10:49Speaker 5: But yeah, there's a big conspiracy. Reacher finds himself in
- 10:52Speaker 5: the middle of it, and it's real intense and an
- 10:55Speaker 5: entertaining watch. Prime really has cornered the market for Jack
- 11:01Speaker 5: R shows.
- 11:02Speaker 4: They really have, yeah.
- 11:04Speaker 5: With Jack Ryan and Reacher.
- 11:05Speaker 4: But yeah, I would recommend both of those if that's
- 11:09Speaker 4: your thing.
- 11:10Speaker 5: If you don't mind a ton of violence, there was
- 11:13Speaker 5: a lot of like blood in this one because some
- 11:16Speaker 5: of the people are real good with a With a knife. Oh.
- 11:21Speaker 5: And so it's very slicey.
- 11:23Speaker 4: I thought you were going to say like the Lada hemophiliac.
- 11:25Speaker 4: So the blood, when it happens.
- 11:27Speaker 5: It really is there. Not so much that.
- 11:31Speaker 4: It's a knife man. I like it. Interesting.
- 11:33Speaker 5: It's real intense. Yeah. Interesting.
- 11:37Speaker 4: But yeah, that's cool.
- 11:37Speaker 5: Super fun.
- 11:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I like those. They're not like the smartest thing ever,
- 11:41Speaker 4: but they're fun.
- 11:42Speaker 5: No, God, no. And I saw that they just released
- 11:46Speaker 5: a spinoff. Oh, I saw that too. That first season,
- 11:51Speaker 5: she might have been in the second season too. I
- 11:53Speaker 5: think she like came back. Yeah. But the character Neely. Yeah.
- 11:58Speaker 5: And they're doing a whole show on her.
- 12:00Speaker 4: I was so surprised by that.
- 12:02Speaker 5: That could be fun.
- 12:03Speaker 4: That's interesting. But she's really fun. So I guess that
- 12:06Speaker 4: makes sense. I don't know.
- 12:07Speaker 5: I like those kind of shows.
- 12:08Speaker 4: They're fun.
- 12:09Speaker 5: Me too.
- 12:09Speaker 4: I'm with you.
- 12:10Speaker 5: They're just kind of, I don't want to think very much.
- 12:12Speaker 4: Throw it on. Whoa, wow.
- 12:14Speaker 5: He's punching a lot of people. Action movie in show form.
- 12:18Speaker 4: You know, just like, let's go. This is great.
- 12:20Speaker 5: Love that. Have you been streaming anything? I have.
- 12:24Speaker 4: Disney Plus. You can now see Toy Story 5.
- 12:31Speaker 5: Haven't seen it yet. That is good news.
- 12:34Speaker 4: I loved it so much.
- 12:35Speaker 5: The kids are going to watch it without me.
- 12:38Speaker 4: Well, yell at them and tell them, no, they're not
- 12:40Speaker 4: allowed to, not allowed to, uh, probably zero surprise. This
- 12:46Speaker 4: movie is amazing. They don't seem to miss with toy story,
- 12:50Speaker 4: which I think is incredible. And I'm happy about it. Uh,
- 12:54Speaker 4: Conan O'Brien is a character in this one, which is
- 12:58Speaker 4: really fun. Um, He plays a... God, what is the character?
- 13:03Speaker 4: Let me look at the name, because it's a funny name.
- 13:07Speaker 4: Smarty Pants. And it is like a... Love it. It
- 13:10Speaker 4: is a potty training assistant electronic of sorts.
- 13:14Speaker 5: Amazing.
- 13:16Speaker 4: So it's really great.
- 13:19Speaker 5: Yeah, they do a couple.
- 13:20Speaker 4: New things in this that I won't talk about, but
- 13:24Speaker 4: mostly it's just like fun... kind of in-depth look at
- 13:28Speaker 4: like society and kids and things like that, but also just,
- 13:33Speaker 4: just good old fashioned, you know, hijinks and, and fun
- 13:36Speaker 4: that's happening around. So I, I loved it. I thought
- 13:39Speaker 4: it was really great. Um, and there you're going to
- 13:42Speaker 4: cry for sure. A couple of times.
- 13:44Speaker 5: Well, yeah, dude, three.
- 13:47Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean, it's not like that, but there's one
- 13:50Speaker 4: line in particular that kind of broke my heart and
- 13:52Speaker 4: it was, it was great in the best ways in
- 13:55Speaker 4: the best way. but yeah i loved it dude it
- 13:58Speaker 4: was so good i'm glad that they didn't they didn't
- 14:01Speaker 4: follow our advice and stop making after three because they've
- 14:04Speaker 4: made two more that have been really.
- 14:05Speaker 5: Good still i really liked four yeah me.
- 14:08Speaker 4: Too and i i'd like this one you think even
- 14:10Speaker 4: more than four like i don't know nice it's just
- 14:12Speaker 4: really good i really had a nice time watching it
- 14:14Speaker 4: i did just watch it so maybe it's recency bias
- 14:17Speaker 4: but sure i had a lovely time and uh I
- 14:21Speaker 4: think y'all will too. So check it out.
- 14:24Speaker 5: What do you think?
- 14:25Speaker 4: Should we do some pluggeroos here?
- 14:26Speaker 5: Yeah, let's plug it up. Nice.

- 15:22Speaker 5: the movie we're talking about. And for this one, it
- 15:25Speaker 5: was a little more difficult than I was expecting. I'm
- 15:28Speaker 5: so glad to hear you say that because same.
- 15:30Speaker 4: I was like, wow.
- 15:32Speaker 5: So we're doing top five lightning scenes in movies. Yes.
- 15:35Speaker 5: I had like six.
- 15:37Speaker 4: Me too.
- 15:38Speaker 5: Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. And then I was like,
- 15:41Speaker 5: now what?
- 15:42Speaker 4: And then I got to 12 and then I was like,
- 15:44Speaker 4: oh no, can I do this?
- 15:46Speaker 5: And then i just had to be like storm movies
- 15:50Speaker 5: and then there's lightning in this storm which sucks which is.
- 15:56Speaker 4: So funny because when we said it i was like
- 15:58Speaker 4: oh yeah that'll be great it'll be easy that's we
- 16:01Speaker 4: haven't done it no it's always.
- 16:03Speaker 5: Those ones it's tough if it would have just been
- 16:06Speaker 5: you and i we would have been good but having
- 16:09Speaker 5: to get to the 15 that is true It was
- 16:12Speaker 5: a chore.
- 16:12Speaker 4: It was, but you know, it's going to be worth
- 16:14Speaker 4: it because we love this gentleman that's going to join us. Absolutely.
- 16:19Speaker 4: I don't, I legitimately this time don't know what's next because.
- 16:24Speaker 5: Rob's going to go on tour, so I don't even
- 16:26Speaker 5: know what's going to happen. We will not be recording
- 16:28Speaker 5: for some time.
- 16:29Speaker 4: So the next episode will be a surprise to us all,
- 16:32Speaker 4: but we are here today to talk about a movie
- 16:34Speaker 4: from last year. I didn't write it down.
- 16:37Speaker 5: I think it's this year, bro. Is it this year?
- 16:39Speaker 4: Oh, see, I was thinking this year, but on IMDb
- 16:42Speaker 4: it says 2025. Might be one of those weird things
- 16:46Speaker 4: where it was like... That says November of 25. Anyway,
- 16:50Speaker 4: either last year or this year, but this is a
- 16:53Speaker 4: little movie called Nirvana, the band, the show, the movie.
- 16:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:59Speaker 4: Tough title.
- 17:00Speaker 5: Tough title. It's a lot.
- 17:01Speaker 4: It's just a lot to say, which is fun.
- 17:04Speaker 5: It's telling me that... theatrical release was february 13 2026
- 17:09Speaker 5: at least that's in the united states of.
- 17:13Speaker 4: America it's on imdb it says november of 25 maybe
- 17:17Speaker 4: that was like a festival i know they were doing
- 17:20Speaker 4: festivals they did so maybe that's what it was Any whoozle.
- 17:26Speaker 4: A fun movie, and we're bringing just a gem of
- 17:29Speaker 4: a man here to hang out with us.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Yes.
- 17:32Speaker 4: He's probably been in a band. He's definitely been on
- 17:35Speaker 4: a show, and he's been in a movie, maybe? Has
- 17:37Speaker 4: he been in a movie?
- 17:39Speaker 5: Probably. I don't know.
- 17:40Speaker 4: He seems like the type who might.
- 17:42Speaker 5: No, he hasn't been in a movie.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Yeah, we'd know, wouldn't we?
- 17:44Speaker 5: Not a theatrical release.
- 17:46Speaker 4: That's true. Many home films. So many home films.
- 17:50Speaker 5: You guys know him. You love him.
- 17:52Speaker 4: He's going to regret coming on, but give it up
- 17:54Speaker 4: for Adam Chance.
- 17:57Speaker 5: What's up, Chance? Hey, guys. What's up? Happy to be back. Oh, dude.
- 18:03Speaker 5: It's been a little while.
- 18:04Speaker 4: We're so happy you're back.
- 18:04Speaker 5: I was trying to remember. Was it my cousin Vinny? Oh,
- 18:10Speaker 5: that would have been so long ago. That might have been.
- 18:12Speaker 5: It can't have been that, can it? Well, more recently.
- 18:14Speaker 5: You have so many of them. the game nights but
- 18:18Speaker 5: i think that was.
- 18:19Speaker 4: The last true that so maybe one.
- 18:21Speaker 6: Of these style that i've done yeah wow that's a
- 18:24Speaker 6: long time they just don't like me when i can
- 18:28Speaker 6: speak right on here they yeah.
- 18:30Speaker 4: It's true we bring that up it's been brought.
- 18:35Speaker 5: Up a few times yeah yeah it was a fun
- 18:37Speaker 5: time so oh that was great the best It's really
- 18:42Speaker 5: the best.
- 18:43Speaker 4: But yeah, we're so glad to have you back. How
- 18:45Speaker 4: have you been?
- 18:46Speaker 5: I've been good. Just the same old, same old.
- 18:49Speaker 6: Plugging away with Home Free and spending every other moment
- 18:53Speaker 6: doing my own stuff and not having any free time
- 18:56Speaker 6: or sleep in between.
- 18:58Speaker 4: Love that.
- 18:59Speaker 5: Boom.
- 18:59Speaker 4: Who needs either of those?
- 19:01Speaker 5: What are those for anyway?
- 19:04Speaker 4: In fact, you have the new EP that's out, right?
- 19:06Speaker 3: I do.
- 19:06Speaker 5: The Night in the Sea B-Sides. Yeah, that's right.
- 19:09Speaker 6: I have a bunch of songs that just you know,
- 19:12Speaker 6: almost made the cut or some acoustic tracks that I
- 19:15Speaker 6: was just messing with for Patreon. So I decided to
- 19:18Speaker 6: just compile them onto a little EP that just released
- 19:22Speaker 6: this month.
- 19:23Speaker 4: Actually. Yeah. I love that. I love that. You're obligated
- 19:27Speaker 4: to do one more. You know that, right? Cause you
- 19:30Speaker 4: have to do the night in the seaside at some point.
- 19:32Speaker 5: You know, I don't operate that way. I refuse. I
- 19:35Speaker 5: would never. In fact, I will die before I do that.
- 19:39Speaker 5: That is not my style.
- 19:41Speaker 6: I'm going against everything I stand for if I release
- 19:43Speaker 6: that album.
- 19:45Speaker 4: But it's so fun.
- 19:46Speaker 5: But it's so fun.
- 19:50Speaker 4: Yeah i just come up with names for albums i
- 19:52Speaker 4: don't actually do them that's my thing.
- 19:54Speaker 5: For now we'll see.
- 19:56Speaker 4: For now yeah you never know you never know we're
- 19:58Speaker 4: uh we're getting a real fleet of ukuleles.
- 20:01Speaker 6: Over here a new yuk over there so we were
- 20:03Speaker 6: just talking about it so right the seasides are on
- 20:05Speaker 6: the way.
- 20:06Speaker 4: Yeah I love it.
- 20:08Speaker 5: I'm going to make, Ooh, I'm going to make, you
- 20:10Speaker 5: make that album. I give you permission. I give you
- 20:13Speaker 5: permission to make this the, the seasides to my album.
- 20:16Speaker 4: Everyone else be like, what is happening? Why is he
- 20:20Speaker 4: doing this? I love that. Well, to listen to that
- 20:24Speaker 4: night in the seaside. So I go to Adam chance, music.com. Uh,
- 20:27Speaker 4: it'll be hosted there.
- 20:28Speaker 5: The Adam chance, the Adam chance.com.
- 20:31Speaker 4: Oh yeah. I asked that. And then I wrote down
- 20:33Speaker 4: the wrong one. All these other dummies are music.
- 20:37Speaker 6: I'm throwing you guys a curveball here, but I also
- 20:41Speaker 6: have just released another collab with our friends down in
- 20:45Speaker 6: the Fox.
- 20:46Speaker 5: That is themed. It's a song from Over the Garden Wall,
- 20:50Speaker 5: which we love. If anyone out.
- 20:51Speaker 6: There likes that show, check it out. And I have
- 20:54Speaker 6: my own little miniature stripped-down version coming out in a
- 20:57Speaker 6: few weeks, too.
- 20:57Speaker 5: So just look for any Over the Garden Wall content.
- 21:03Speaker 4: I am going to watch that this fall because you
- 21:05Speaker 4: guys all suggested it.
- 21:06Speaker 5: It's a masterpiece.
- 21:07Speaker 4: I can't wait.
- 21:08Speaker 5: It's great.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Rob, have you ever seen that?
- 21:09Speaker 5: I haven't even heard of it.
- 21:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I only heard of it when they brought it up.
- 21:13Speaker 5: It's essentially a movie.
- 21:14Speaker 6: It's a TV show, but it's essentially a movie because
- 21:16Speaker 6: it's like short little episodes and the whole season is
- 21:19Speaker 6: movie length.
- 21:19Speaker 5: So it's an easy watch.
- 21:21Speaker 4: Hell yeah. Love that. Maybe I'll watch that this weekend.
- 21:24Speaker 4: This very weekend, perhaps. That's fun. That's fun. Uh, well,
- 21:29Speaker 4: what do you guys think? Should we start talking a
- 21:30Speaker 4: little Nirvana, the band, the show, the movie?
- 21:32Speaker 5: Let's do it. Let's do it. All right, great.
- 21:34Speaker 4: Rob, you want to get us started with just a
- 21:36Speaker 4: rough synopsis? Sure.
- 21:38Speaker 5: Nirvana, the band, the show, the movie is a comedy
- 21:41Speaker 5: film about two bumbling friends in a fictional band who
- 21:44Speaker 5: accidentally travel back in time to 2008 while trying to
- 21:49Speaker 5: book a single concert.
- 21:52Speaker 4: Love it. Love it. I really thought you might.
- 21:55Speaker 5: That was it.
- 21:56Speaker 4: It's a comedy film.
- 21:59Speaker 5: You're going to be like, that's it.
- 22:02Speaker 4: We did it, guys. We did it. Excellent read. Great
- 22:05Speaker 4: work all around. Let's go to Rotten Tomatoes and hear
- 22:08Speaker 4: what they have to say. Critics have this coming in
- 22:11Speaker 4: at a pretty rock solid. Ninety five percent. Boom. That's
- 22:17Speaker 4: very high. Very fresh.
- 22:19Speaker 5: I love it.
- 22:20Speaker 4: Only slightly above Crocodile Dundee as we learned yesterday.
- 22:23Speaker 5: Dude, Crocodile Dundee has an 89% from critics.
- 22:28Speaker 4: We were shocked.
- 22:30Speaker 5: I love that movie. It has a higher percent?
- 22:33Speaker 4: For sure. But not 89% from critics.
- 22:37Speaker 5: It was 29% higher than audience. Oh, right. Which you're
- 22:41Speaker 5: just like, that's so weird. That's rarely the case, right? Right.
- 22:45Speaker 5: Very strange.
- 22:46Speaker 6: I recently got to inform Adam Rupp, our bandmate, that he,
- 22:51Speaker 6: the actor Crocodile Dundee, is still alive.
- 22:54Speaker 5: Paul Hogan, yes.
- 22:55Speaker 4: I didn't know that either.
- 22:56Speaker 6: Adam thought he died, and I was like, I don't
- 23:00Speaker 6: think so. And he's like, yep, for sure. I mourned him.
- 23:04Speaker 5: Oh, wow. He's not.
- 23:07Speaker 4: A little pre-mourning.
- 23:08Speaker 6: So I was like, well, now when he passes away,
- 23:10Speaker 6: you don't have to worry about it.
- 23:11Speaker 5: You've already done it.
- 23:12Speaker 4: Oh, that's nice.
- 23:13Speaker 5: Was he conflating him with Hulk? I said the same thing.
- 23:16Speaker 5: He was asked if it was Hulk Hogan, but he.
- 23:19Speaker 5: I said the exact same thing when that happened. He
- 23:21Speaker 5: said it wasn't that.
- 23:22Speaker 4: As a kid, someone told me they were brothers.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Oh.
- 23:26Speaker 4: They were really tricking me.
- 23:27Speaker 5: That's so weird because, well, he's a Minnesota legend, Hulk Hogan,
- 23:32Speaker 5: and clearly Paul Hogan is Australian.
- 23:34Speaker 4: So that would be the weirdest. That was a good accent.
- 23:38Speaker 4: You know, I don't know. I'm not here to disparage
- 23:41Speaker 4: his work, you know, like, I don't know.
- 23:43Speaker 2: All right.
- 23:44Speaker 4: They both had faces. That's good.
- 23:47Speaker 5: Like brothers do. They were both blonde.
- 23:50Speaker 4: Also, to be fair, me and my brother look nothing alike.
- 23:52Speaker 4: So I thought other brothers just didn't look alike.
- 23:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I get that.
- 23:56Speaker 4: I didn't understand.
- 23:57Speaker 5: They usually have similar accents. Usually.
- 24:01Speaker 4: Well, you know, Arnold and Danny DeVito didn't.
- 24:04Speaker 5: So I don't know what to tell you. That's a
- 24:06Speaker 5: really good point. And that was a documentary. So I
- 24:08Speaker 5: don't know what you want from me.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Nice.
- 24:11Speaker 4: All right. I'm sorry that I'm doing this. Audience members
- 24:14Speaker 4: have it at 94%, so pretty much the exact same.
- 24:18Speaker 4: Very high. Very highly rated.
- 24:20Speaker 5: Yeah, dude.
- 24:21Speaker 4: But I think we should get into what we think.
- 24:23Speaker 4: It's time for our hot take.
- 24:24Speaker 5: Hot take. Ouch.
- 24:26Speaker 4: That's a hot take.
- 24:28Speaker 5: That's a hot take. Ow, I burned myself.
- 24:32Speaker 4: The orbits made.
- 24:34Speaker 5: It start a fire.
- 24:35Speaker 4: Good job. Good job. Good job. That was really good.
- 24:40Speaker 4: uh i will go first i had not heard i
- 24:44Speaker 4: don't know if you guys had but i had not
- 24:45Speaker 4: heard of nirvana nirvana the band the show we were
- 24:50Speaker 4: all in the same boat i've heard of yeah nirvana
- 24:52Speaker 4: yes big nirvana fan big nirvana fan um but uh
- 24:58Speaker 4: so i'd never heard of these guys at all i
- 25:00Speaker 4: saw like a a trailer before a movie that i
- 25:03Speaker 4: went to in the theater for this movie and i
- 25:04Speaker 4: was like What is happening here? This seems bonkers. And
- 25:09Speaker 4: they really came through with that. I liked this movie
- 25:13Speaker 4: a ton. I've seen it a couple of times now.
- 25:16Speaker 4: I think it's really I'll be interested to know what
- 25:18Speaker 4: you think, Chance, because you have like the creative writing
- 25:21Speaker 4: background and stuff. I think it's like a really tight
- 25:24Speaker 4: script and the like the plot, like all the stuff
- 25:27Speaker 4: that they do with it. they do like the, Oh,
- 25:30Speaker 4: we know exactly what time the lightning strikes because we
- 25:33Speaker 4: did this thing. And it's like a little cheekily heavy
- 25:36Speaker 4: handed at points, but they really do like make a
- 25:39Speaker 4: really well crafted story around this. I thought it was
- 25:42Speaker 4: super fun. The combination of sort of that, like, Live action,
- 25:46Speaker 4: getting just random people in their movie and then also
- 25:51Speaker 4: like scripted stuff around that I thought was really well done.
- 25:54Speaker 4: Just like really lovingly crafted. And I think that's extra
- 25:59Speaker 4: special because that's got to be way harder than just
- 26:02Speaker 4: scripting it out and going, you know, like normal like that's.
- 26:07Speaker 4: It's gotta be more work. So they just think it's fun.
- 26:09Speaker 4: But yeah, I think this is like a love letter
- 26:12Speaker 4: to specifically back to the future, but then a bunch
- 26:15Speaker 4: of other movies as well, uh, that, you know, time
- 26:18Speaker 4: travel and just, you can tell these guys just love
- 26:20Speaker 4: the craft of movies and comedy in general. And it's,
- 26:23Speaker 4: It's just really, really fun and great. I had a
- 26:27Speaker 4: great time with the music. I'm sure we'll talk more
- 26:29Speaker 4: about that as we go on. The score specifically was
- 26:32Speaker 4: really fun and silly. And yeah, overall, I just really
- 26:36Speaker 4: like this movie. I want to go back and watch
- 26:39Speaker 4: the show now because if it's this, then why wouldn't
- 26:43Speaker 4: I love it, I guess? But yeah, so that's basically
- 26:48Speaker 4: the take. But my hottest take is... never in my
- 26:52Speaker 4: life never will you find me at the top of
- 26:55Speaker 4: that cn tower doing that tour where they're harnessed not a.
- 26:59Speaker 5: Hot take holy that sounds terrible no it was scary.
- 27:03Speaker 4: You can do it yeah but i was like there
- 27:06Speaker 4: is no way i would ever do that it made
- 27:10Speaker 4: me like.
- 27:11Speaker 5: All to go to a baseball game no way man Yeah.
- 27:14Speaker 7: No.
- 27:14Speaker 5: Pass.
- 27:15Speaker 4: Sorry, Rob.
- 27:17Speaker 5: Sorry, buddy. I like baseball.
- 27:20Speaker 4: I'll go to that stadium with you. That seems fun.
- 27:22Speaker 5: That would be cool. We could skydive or skydive. Skydive.
- 27:26Speaker 4: Skydive.
- 27:27Speaker 5: Skydive. Skydive.
- 27:30Speaker 4: That is like a perfect encapsulation of those two being
- 27:32Speaker 4: so funny together. So good, dude. Just so good. But yeah,
- 27:35Speaker 4: that's my hot take. You'll catch me dead before I
- 27:38Speaker 4: do that. I would poop and pee myself immediately.
- 27:42Speaker 5: That would be scary. That's hot. Super hot. I loved this.
- 27:46Speaker 5: I also was not familiar at all with these guys beforehand.
- 27:50Speaker 5: It also made me want to dive into everything that
- 27:52Speaker 5: they've done. Directed by Matt Johnson, who is Matt in
- 27:56Speaker 5: the film. I knew him from the movie Blackberry in 2023,
- 28:00Speaker 5: which he also wrote and directed. Oh, I didn't know. OK, yeah,
- 28:04Speaker 5: I directed it. And he now has directed the new
- 28:08Speaker 5: Anthony Bourdain biopic, Tony, which.
- 28:11Speaker 4: I want to check really good. Yeah.
- 28:13Speaker 5: It was also written by him and Jay McCarroll, but
- 28:16Speaker 5: they also have five other dudes with writing credits, which
- 28:19Speaker 5: I really. Yeah. But just such a fun time. I
- 28:24Speaker 5: love how they were able to use their their real
- 28:27Speaker 5: old footage and incorporate it into this crazy story. I
- 28:31Speaker 5: love how they blatantly steal from Back to the Future
- 28:34Speaker 5: and call it out and even say how this is
- 28:36Speaker 5: going to be a copyright nightmare. Love that. I really
- 28:39Speaker 5: like that a lot.
- 28:41Speaker 4: Uh, it feels like a back to the future meets
- 28:43Speaker 4: like Borat, uh, in the fact that he's able to
- 28:47Speaker 4: just go up and start talking to random people.
- 28:49Speaker 5: Um, and he incorporated that into the movie. I just
- 28:53Speaker 5: loved it. Um, yeah, just so much energy. Uh, I
- 28:58Speaker 5: never knew where it was going to go, which was fun.
- 29:03Speaker 5: I loved their sense of humor. And honestly, so far
- 29:06Speaker 5: it is one of my favorite movies I've seen this year.
- 29:09Speaker 5: That's probably, uh, Hot take. The hottest take I have.
- 29:12Speaker 4: I love it.
- 29:14Speaker 5: And I love Tenacious D, but this movie is better
- 29:18Speaker 5: than anything that they've put out, not musically. Film-wise.
- 29:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:24Speaker 5: Film-wise. For sure.
- 29:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I buy that, for sure.
- 29:27Speaker 5: That would be my hot take, because I love Tenacious D,
- 29:30Speaker 5: but this movie was awesome.
- 29:33Speaker 4: That's great, dude. Hot take.
- 29:34Speaker 5: I love it. Yeah.
- 29:35Speaker 4: I love it.
- 29:36Speaker 6: All right, Jancy, what do you got? Like you guys,
- 29:38Speaker 6: I've never seen this, and... in fact Rob had told
- 29:41Speaker 6: me about this movie he's like you would probably like
- 29:43Speaker 6: this you should watch it we had just finished doing
- 29:46Speaker 6: something on the road so it was on the Delta
- 29:48Speaker 6: flights on the way home so I watched it there
- 29:50Speaker 6: and since then I've already watched it two more times
- 29:54Speaker 6: yes because I had to show it to Sammy I
- 29:56Speaker 6: knew she would appreciate it and then I you know
- 30:00Speaker 6: wasn't planning at the time that we were going to
- 30:02Speaker 6: be doing this podcast. So I was like, well, I
- 30:04Speaker 6: had to watch it again to kind of make my
- 30:06Speaker 6: notes on it. Uh, it's like, it's weird because I
- 30:10Speaker 6: know these guys are probably super popular in Canada, but Canada,
- 30:13Speaker 6: things don't always cross over the border unless, you know,
- 30:16Speaker 6: maybe there you live closer to the border. It's like,
- 30:21Speaker 6: I never heard of these guys, but now I like
- 30:24Speaker 6: you guys. I'm also interested in watching the show. In fact,
- 30:28Speaker 6: A ton of my feed now has a bunch of
- 30:30Speaker 6: Matt Johnson material, like talking about his movies, like the
- 30:33Speaker 6: Anthony Bourdain movie and clips from the Nirvana, the band,
- 30:38Speaker 6: the show, which every one of them has me laughing.
- 30:42Speaker 6: I even turned a few minutes of it on today
- 30:44Speaker 6: after watching the movie. And one of the movie scenes
- 30:47Speaker 6: where they're hiding in the closet is. the songs that
- 30:50Speaker 6: you hear in the background and a lot of the
- 30:52Speaker 6: footage I think probably too is from the show, which
- 30:55Speaker 6: is very clever.
- 30:56Speaker 5: That's so cool.
- 30:57Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 30:58Speaker 5: I love that.
- 30:59Speaker 6: Which that's one of the things I wanted to talk
- 31:00Speaker 6: about is how clever they, they intertwine, how cleverly they
- 31:05Speaker 6: intertwined the old footage and the new footage. And I
- 31:10Speaker 6: read somewhere maybe that they weren't planning on that. They
- 31:13Speaker 6: just filmed a bunch of stuff. But when they're like
- 31:16Speaker 6: passing each other on the street and the, And the
- 31:19Speaker 6: old footage, they're.
- 31:20Speaker 5: Like, hey, that guy looks like me and stuff like that. Unbelievable.
- 31:22Speaker 5: It's unbelievable.
- 31:24Speaker 6: And it's seamless. It's like it was planned from day one.
- 31:28Speaker 6: I thought that was incredible. I also love there's two
- 31:32Speaker 6: things that I love when you have groups of people
- 31:35Speaker 6: that become creators that seemingly are really good friends behind
- 31:40Speaker 6: the scenes. like right here on the Avid Endorsement, folks.
- 31:45Speaker 4: Yeah!
- 31:47Speaker 5: Or something like Broken Lizard is a good example of that. Yeah,
- 31:52Speaker 5: it is.
- 31:52Speaker 6: Broken Lizard or these two guys, and they met in
- 31:55Speaker 6: college and now have been working on the show for
- 31:58Speaker 6: however many years.
- 32:01Speaker 5: I think it's also very.
- 32:04Speaker 5: I love when things are very dumb and clever sometimes, Yeah. Yes.
- 32:09Speaker 4: Same.
- 32:09Speaker 5: Like Mitch Hedberg. Very.
- 32:11Speaker 6: It's seemingly surface level, but it's actually kind of clever
- 32:14Speaker 6: and brilliant.
- 32:16Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 32:16Speaker 6: Because you don't know where they're blurring the lines between.
- 32:21Speaker 6: Is this a person they found on the street than
- 32:23Speaker 6: real footage? Or is this someone that they've got acting
- 32:27Speaker 6: and just how. they're just working so hard to play
- 32:30Speaker 6: this show and they don't know you can just try
- 32:32Speaker 6: and call the place. Like when he's getting that, when
- 32:34Speaker 6: he's calling the other place for open mic and he's
- 32:36Speaker 6: just so oblivious to how that works.
- 32:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 32:39Speaker 5: Like you just show up. That's crazy. You just show up.
- 32:44Speaker 6: And, uh, to your kind of point about the creative
- 32:48Speaker 6: writing and exposition, uh, I think it's, it does something
- 32:51Speaker 6: that I've never seen. That's really clever. It shows these flashbacks,
- 32:55Speaker 6: but then to add exposition later, uh, It shows clips
- 32:58Speaker 6: from the flashbacks that weren't there. Yeah, it's like extra
- 33:02Speaker 6: footage that they're showing to fill in these gaps because
- 33:07Speaker 6: it's like Rob said, it continues going in directions that
- 33:11Speaker 6: you'd never expect. There were so many times in the movie,
- 33:14Speaker 6: like even when they time traveled.
- 33:16Speaker 5: I was like, what? They actually did it. I never
- 33:18Speaker 5: expected that. What the hell?
- 33:21Speaker 6: And then setting up the gun scene later, which still
- 33:24Speaker 6: blew my mind.
- 33:25Speaker 5: Dude, when he was watching it on the plane, he
- 33:28Speaker 5: was texting me and he just writes, holy, they just
- 33:31Speaker 5: shot him in the head. Yeah, I was like, the
- 33:34Speaker 5: gun scene. Holy, I can't believe that happened.
- 33:39Speaker 6: Uh, but I think my, my overall take would be
- 33:42Speaker 6: the same as I would agree with both of your
- 33:44Speaker 6: hot takes. Cause I'm not going on that tower. And second,
- 33:49Speaker 6: I think it's one of the best movies I've seen
- 33:51Speaker 6: this year. And I'm like immediately a fan of these guys.
- 33:54Speaker 4: So yeah, dude.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:56Speaker 4: Love that.
- 33:58Speaker 5: Hot takes all around. Smoking.
- 34:01Speaker 4: Well, let's talk about our favorite acting performance, shall we,
- 34:03Speaker 4: named The Dude?
- 34:04Speaker 5: The Dude.
- 34:06Speaker 4: I'm The Dude. So that's what you call me, you know?
- 34:10Speaker 4: That or His Dude-ness or Duder or, you know, El Duderino,
- 34:16Speaker 4: if you're not into the whole brevity thing. Hard one. Chance,
- 34:19Speaker 4: you want to go first?
- 34:19Speaker 6: Yeah, I think I'm so impressed with both of these guys,
- 34:24Speaker 6: but Matt Johnson's comedic timing.
- 34:28Speaker 5: He's so funny. So funny.
- 34:31Speaker 6: And it amazed me, like I said before, that he's
- 34:34Speaker 6: not as well known in the U S and like,
- 34:36Speaker 6: obviously he, now he's directing movies and I think, you know,
- 34:40Speaker 6: making a name for himself in that, in that regard.
- 34:42Speaker 6: But I, I would love to see this guy in
- 34:45Speaker 6: more films, you know, and not to discredit Jay McCarroll
- 34:50Speaker 6: at all because they, they have a great tandem going,
- 34:53Speaker 6: but I think I'd have to give my, Dude award
- 34:56Speaker 6: to Matt just for his natural delivery of the comedic.
- 35:01Speaker 7: Lines.
- 35:02Speaker 4: Love that. Yeah, dude.
- 35:03Speaker 5: I mean, he just has he's also my dude. He
- 35:05Speaker 5: just has so much personality. He's so big. He's so showy.
- 35:08Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 35:09Speaker 5: And you get it right out the gate when he's
- 35:12Speaker 5: like doing the intro and he's like, oh, they're going
- 35:15Speaker 5: to want an encore right away. Do the intro again.
- 35:18Speaker 5: Like just so confident.
- 35:21Speaker 4: It's so great.
- 35:22Speaker 5: That kind of just so much confidence. And it's fun.
- 35:26Speaker 5: I find it so funny. I love it. Um, cause
- 35:30Speaker 5: he seems like he's probably not like the musically inclined one.
- 35:34Speaker 5: Like most of the music chops is probably Jay, but
- 35:38Speaker 5: he's just such a front man. And his delivery of
- 35:43Speaker 5: certain lines is so like, you see him thinking for
- 35:45Speaker 5: a second and then saying something like he just came
- 35:48Speaker 5: up with it off the top of his head and
- 35:49Speaker 5: maybe they did improv those. And some of them, I
- 35:51Speaker 5: didn't mention this when we were talking about the exposition earlier,
- 35:55Speaker 5: it was, it's kind of brilliant cause it's very aware
- 35:57Speaker 5: of itself. Like he said, uh, Oh, you built a
- 35:59Speaker 5: time machine. And he goes, uh-huh. Somehow, somehow. Yeah. It's
- 36:04Speaker 5: not like that's not important at all, but it's so
- 36:07Speaker 5: well delivered and slight that you wouldn't notice. Yeah. Yeah.
- 36:11Speaker 4: Like winks to the camera, but not, not like a hundred. Yeah.
- 36:16Speaker 5: Oh, he definitely winks to the camera and he's like,
- 36:18Speaker 5: for sure. The orbits. That's not, that's, that's too stupid,
- 36:20Speaker 5: isn't it? It's like, do you guys know what that is? Right.
- 36:26Speaker 5: I love that. And, or, I love his interactions with
- 36:29Speaker 5: people on the street, too. Like, he just seems so sincere.
- 36:32Speaker 5: When he apologizes to the raccoon that he sees as
- 36:35Speaker 5: he's running. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, that dude kills me.
- 36:39Speaker 5: I love it. Spider-Man, just those little things. Like, they
- 36:42Speaker 5: see Spider-Man. Yes, yes.
- 36:44Speaker 4: So funny.
- 36:44Speaker 8: So good.
- 36:46Speaker 5: Big fan.
- 36:47Speaker 4: Love that.
- 36:48Speaker 5: Well, it's a clean sweep. I'm with you guys.
- 36:51Speaker 4: Like, he... Matt just, he cracks me up. He's just
- 36:54Speaker 4: so funny in this. I also love kind of what
- 36:56Speaker 4: you said chance when you can kind of like see
- 36:58Speaker 4: him buffering in.
- 36:59Speaker 5: Real time when he's like, and then we're going to
- 37:01Speaker 5: do this thing.
- 37:02Speaker 7: And then, yeah, you know, like, like then go on.
- 37:06Speaker 5: Right. But he has to like, kind of like pause.
- 37:08Speaker 4: He's kind of bird like in that way a little bit,
- 37:11Speaker 4: which is kind of fun. Uh, but he's just so funny.
- 37:15Speaker 4: I just, I love everything that he's doing in this movie.
- 37:18Speaker 4: And I think he, I picked him over Jay. I'm
- 37:21Speaker 4: with you. I think Jay is really good and he's, he's,
- 37:24Speaker 4: they have such a good chemistry together, but I just
- 37:26Speaker 4: think Matt has to like kind of carry that comedic
- 37:29Speaker 4: load a little bit more. So I gave it to him,
- 37:32Speaker 4: but I loved it. He was so good.
- 37:35Speaker 5: So good.
- 37:35Speaker 4: It would be really interesting to see him in other
- 37:37Speaker 4: things to see if he can only be funny with
- 37:40Speaker 4: his own stuff or if he.
- 37:41Speaker 5: I assume he can be funny in many ways, but I.
- 37:43Speaker 6: Feel like you, you have a very specific place you
- 37:46Speaker 6: can put that and he can thrive, you know?
- 37:49Speaker 5: But it would be interesting. Did you see Blackberry?
- 37:53Speaker 4: Yes, I did.
- 37:55Speaker 5: I did.
- 37:55Speaker 4: It was fun.
- 37:56Speaker 5: And you could tell like it was funny, but they
- 37:59Speaker 5: weren't like trying to be funny. Agreed.
- 38:02Speaker 4: Yeah. And it's almost like I can't, I want to
- 38:04Speaker 4: go watch it again now that I have seen him
- 38:06Speaker 4: in this and just be like, wow, that's the same guy.
- 38:08Speaker 4: That's crazy. Yeah. Because that was a pretty good movie, too.
- 38:12Speaker 4: It was. I liked it. I liked Jay Baruchel a lot, too. Yep.
- 38:15Speaker 5: And Glenn Howerton. Yeah! He was really funny in that.
- 38:19Speaker 4: Such a weird part. But being serious. Yeah. Yeah, such
- 38:22Speaker 4: a weird part. Yeah.
- 38:23Speaker 5: Well, why don't we talk about supporting characters? Let's go
- 38:27Speaker 5: to the Toochie Award.
- 38:29Speaker 4: Toochie!
- 38:30Speaker 6: How about this one, Chance? So, I had a hard
- 38:33Speaker 6: time with this. Obviously, because there's not a lot of
- 38:36Speaker 6: people in this movie.
- 38:37Speaker 4: Not a ton.
- 38:39Speaker 6: And again, I'm going to kind of seemingly slight Jay McCarroll,
- 38:43Speaker 6: and I'm going to give this award to young Matt Johnson.
- 38:48Speaker 5: Amazing. From the old footage. Fantastic.
- 38:54Speaker 6: I love that, dude. Because he is ultimately the main character,
- 39:00Speaker 6: but his old self is like a supporting character and
- 39:04Speaker 6: another character altogether. And, you know, the beginning is really funny.
- 39:08Speaker 6: The little kooky moments like Rob was describing. I yeah,
- 39:12Speaker 6: I just I was so infatuated with his whole performance. And,
- 39:17Speaker 6: you know, you see something you see someone who's kind
- 39:20Speaker 6: of grown into roles or gotten better at these things
- 39:23Speaker 6: as they get older. But like he was obviously very
- 39:26Speaker 6: funny in 2008 or whenever they were actually shooting that stuff.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:30Speaker 5: So Yeah, he's sweeping this, which I don't know if
- 39:33Speaker 5: that's happened before.
- 39:34Speaker 3: I love that.
- 39:35Speaker 5: That's really great.
- 39:36Speaker 4: I love that so much.
- 39:39Speaker 5: That's great. I was also going to cite Jay McCarroll
- 39:43Speaker 5: because that hardware store guy, I loved him.
- 39:50Speaker 4: God, he was funny.
- 39:50Speaker 5: He was really trying to warn these guys not to
- 39:54Speaker 5: do it. Like, it wasn't worth it. He really was.
- 39:56Speaker 4: He was just like, don't do this. I swear. I
- 39:59Speaker 4: can't in.
- 39:59Speaker 5: Good conscience let you guys do this, but I'm a libertarian.
- 40:04Speaker 5: That was so good. That guy killed me. I loved
- 40:11Speaker 5: that he was in the movie.
- 40:13Speaker 4: You couldn't have wrote that better, you know? I know, dude.
- 40:15Speaker 5: It was great.
- 40:16Speaker 6: That's one of those things, too, where I was talking
- 40:18Speaker 6: about where it's like they do such a good job
- 40:20Speaker 6: with the people who weren't part of the film.
- 40:23Speaker 4: Yes.
- 40:24Speaker 6: Or I guess I should say they do such a
- 40:25Speaker 6: good job with the people who maybe were part of
- 40:27Speaker 6: the film that they feel like maybe they weren't part
- 40:29Speaker 6: of the film.
- 40:30Speaker 5: And he's one of them. He's got to be their guy, right?
- 40:34Speaker 5: But anyway, you couldn't tell.
- 40:36Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 40:37Speaker 5: I wish I would have seen... More.
- 40:40Speaker 4: Trivia about that, like how they were able to do
- 40:43Speaker 4: all of that. There is that one piece of trivia
- 40:45Speaker 4: that's like they talked to the one guy for over
- 40:48Speaker 4: a half hour to get him to say the things
- 40:50Speaker 4: they wanted him to say.
- 40:52Speaker 5: That was like the drunk guy. Yeah, it was the
- 40:54Speaker 5: drunk guy in the thing that was like, Jay's over there,
- 40:56Speaker 5: Jay's everywhere.
- 40:58Speaker 3: Mr.
- 40:58Speaker 4: Hollywood.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Yes, exactly.
- 41:00Speaker 4: I wonder how much like, you know. like they're trying
- 41:06Speaker 4: to kind of push them and then they added around
- 41:08Speaker 4: that a little bit, but it's still amazing.
- 41:11Speaker 5: Don't get me wrong, but I do wonder.
- 41:12Speaker 4: That part, you know, but yeah, crazy. It's crazy. Um,
- 41:18Speaker 4: not a lot of other people to choose from in this. Um,
- 41:22Speaker 4: I'm going to give it to Jay McCarroll. I'll, I'll
- 41:24Speaker 4: just go with that. Uh, he deserves it.
- 41:26Speaker 5: He needs it at this point. We love you, Jay.
- 41:27Speaker 5: So fun. And so great.
- 41:30Speaker 4: When he like decides he's going to be kind of
- 41:33Speaker 4: sneaky and do his own thing.
- 41:34Speaker 5: It's so fun.
- 41:35Speaker 4: And like you said, Chance, that scene where he is
- 41:38Speaker 4: calling about the open mic slot is the funniest thing.
- 41:43Speaker 4: It's just like, so I have a gig?
- 41:46Speaker 5: Just the idea that these guys, their whole lives.
- 41:51Speaker 6: Are focused on this one thing. Yet they don't know
- 41:55Speaker 6: the even the slightest inner working of how You can
- 41:58Speaker 6: just go to an open mic night, which is amazing.
- 42:00Speaker 5: Yeah. Just go do it.
- 42:02Speaker 4: You know, you can, I've seen a lot of bad
- 42:04Speaker 4: bands get shows. I think we can make this happen.
- 42:07Speaker 4: I've been in a lot of bad bands that have
- 42:09Speaker 4: got shows. Yeah. Oh, it's so funny. But yeah, he's
- 42:14Speaker 4: just great. And he's like legit, very talented as a musician. It's,
- 42:18Speaker 4: you know, like I assume that's really him plunking away
- 42:21Speaker 4: on the piano. I don't know why it wouldn't be, you.
- 42:22Speaker 5: Know, I think he did the music for the movie
- 42:24Speaker 5: as well. So like the supervisor of the music and stuff.
- 42:27Speaker 4: So, That whole thing is crazy, too. We'll talk about
- 42:30Speaker 4: that in trivia. But yeah, it's nuts. I really liked him.
- 42:33Speaker 4: I thought he was charming. He murdered a guy.
- 42:36Speaker 5: He killed a guy.
- 42:36Speaker 3: He did murder a guy.
- 42:38Speaker 5: My God. Oh, Lord.
- 42:43Speaker 4: Uh, but yeah, did you get 70 other runners up?
- 42:45Speaker 4: Like you said, there's a ton. The only other runner
- 42:47Speaker 4: up I had was the, uh, the drunk French, French
- 42:51Speaker 4: lady laughing.
- 42:52Speaker 5: While he's trying to get the electrical cord situated. Yeah.
- 42:56Speaker 4: She was great.
- 42:57Speaker 5: I really enjoyed that. She's just laughing.
- 43:01Speaker 4: All right.
- 43:02Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 43:03Speaker 5: Oh, my whole life's kind of dependent on this, but, uh,
- 43:06Speaker 5: glad you think it's funny. It was really funny, dude.
- 43:10Speaker 2: Hmm.
- 43:11Speaker 4: I will say, when we just talked about the lady
- 43:13Speaker 4: that's booking for the open mic, she was great. On
- 43:16Speaker 4: the phone. When he was like, so I have a gig?
- 43:18Speaker 4: And she's like, sure.
- 43:20Speaker 5: Yeah, I'll talk to you.
- 43:21Speaker 4: I got to go.
- 43:22Speaker 2: Bye.
- 43:22Speaker 5: I guess. We'll see you later.
- 43:24Speaker 4: She's like, this was weird. I don't know.
- 43:26Speaker 5: That felt real. That felt like a real fun conversation
- 43:29Speaker 5: to me.
- 43:30Speaker 4: Or when he's like, how far are you away from Toronto?
- 43:34Speaker 5: She's like, I don't know.
- 43:37Speaker 6: Also, shout out, and hopefully I'm not stepping on trivia later,
- 43:40Speaker 6: but the fact that the guys that were his new
- 43:43Speaker 6: friends in the alternate timeline.
- 43:46Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 43:46Speaker 6: Those were the guys that were playing the the Rivoli
- 43:53Speaker 6: in the original timeline.
- 43:56Speaker 5: That's awesome. I'm pretty sure. I'm pretty sure. I didn't
- 43:59Speaker 5: realize that. That's cool. That makes a lot of sense.
- 44:00Speaker 5: I only watch it three times in a month, but
- 44:02Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure.
- 44:03Speaker 4: Fair.
- 44:04Speaker 5: Dude, I love that. What I love about that.
- 44:06Speaker 6: Is the fact that these guys are so doomed and
- 44:09Speaker 6: oblivious to not play the place that these guys who
- 44:12Speaker 6: just had a show there in the regular timeline apparently
- 44:16Speaker 6: become friends with him and they can't even get a show,
- 44:19Speaker 6: you know, whatever.
- 44:19Speaker 5: So I think that's pretty clever.
- 44:21Speaker 4: Yeah, it's clearly them that are the problem. I love that.
- 44:23Speaker 5: That's pretty great. And the fact that they're in the
- 44:26Speaker 5: Jay McCarroll cover band. I love that. And they have
- 44:29Speaker 5: the tattoos. That's a good call, dude. They were funny, too. Yeah,
- 44:37Speaker 5: they were doing the Asian thing. And then later on,
- 44:40Speaker 5: you see them with the hats on. And they're like,
- 44:42Speaker 5: it worked!
- 44:47Speaker 4: We're going to talk to my aunt, who is half
- 44:48Speaker 4: Chinese or whatever he says. Oh, my God. So funny.
- 44:54Speaker 5: Good call.
- 44:55Speaker 4: That's great.
- 44:56Speaker 5: That was really about it. There weren't many other characters
- 44:58Speaker 5: in this. I think we named everyone in the film.
- 45:00Speaker 4: Yeah, pretty much.
- 45:03Speaker 5: All right. Well, let's keep on going. Let's pick our
- 45:07Speaker 5: favorite scene and let's choose the dingus.
- 45:10Speaker 4: The dingus.
- 45:12Speaker 5: So Dingus is quite simple, really. Dingus.
- 45:15Speaker 4: Dingus. I could talk about my Dingus all night long.
- 45:17Speaker 5: I'm going to kiss you, Dingus.
- 45:18Speaker 4: Chance, what do you got for your favorite scene?
- 45:19Speaker 6: I had a hard time with this because there's a
- 45:22Speaker 6: lot of stuff you can pick from, and the movie
- 45:24Speaker 6: kind of, once it gets going, it kind of stays
- 45:28Speaker 6: equally as good, and every scene is just as funny
- 45:32Speaker 6: as the last, you know?
- 45:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 45:34Speaker 6: But I'll go back to what I was talking about
- 45:36Speaker 6: before with the fact that I think it was so clever.
- 45:41Speaker 5: how well they.
- 45:42Speaker 6: Intertwined the old footage and the new. And it's even
- 45:47Speaker 6: funny when they end up, they realize they're in the past.
- 45:52Speaker 5: And he's like, you can't have these cameras. Look at him.
- 45:55Speaker 5: He looks like he's in the Matrix. He's like, we
- 45:58Speaker 5: got to use these old cameras. But they don't look
- 46:00Speaker 5: that different, to be honest. Yeah, right, right.
- 46:03Speaker 6: But then you see this whole sequence from the moment
- 46:06Speaker 6: that they see themselves putting the flyers on the pole.
- 46:10Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
- 46:11Speaker 6: Up until they are leaving their old apartment and he
- 46:15Speaker 6: gets angry and erases.
- 46:19Speaker 5: The writing, the whiteboard.
- 46:21Speaker 6: So everything in between that sequence would probably be my vote.
- 46:25Speaker 6: But there's so much to pick from just because, like,
- 46:28Speaker 6: even when they're going up in the tower and you
- 46:31Speaker 6: know that that's real footage and he's actually telling this, like,
- 46:36Speaker 6: security agent, like, these lies to try and get a
- 46:39Speaker 6: pair of pliers through or whatever.
- 46:41Speaker 5: So it's hard.
- 46:43Speaker 4: To never check their hunchbacks.
- 46:45Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah.
- 46:45Speaker 6: They never even mentioned that. It's also a sign of,
- 46:48Speaker 6: of that's Canada and not where we live here in
- 46:51Speaker 6: the United States. Cause things are a little different.
- 46:54Speaker 4: Um, I loved when the guy was just immediately like,
- 46:56Speaker 4: you know, I just got to check.
- 46:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 46:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 46:58Speaker 5: I'm sorry. Sorry.
- 47:00Speaker 4: Well, that would never happen. Interesting. So, so I.
- 47:03Speaker 6: Think I would pick the, the scene of them going
- 47:08Speaker 6: back and encountering themselves and the brilliance of, them walking
- 47:12Speaker 6: down the street and being like, hey.
- 47:13Speaker 5: Does that guy look like me? And all that stuff.
- 47:16Speaker 5: And the camera movements. And they switched the hats. They
- 47:18Speaker 5: switched the hats. That was their way. And he's like, what,
- 47:20Speaker 5: because he's got a hat like you? That's why you
- 47:22Speaker 5: think that? Yeah.
- 47:24Speaker 6: And then talking to each other in the apartment is
- 47:28Speaker 6: so brilliant, like I said before, because if they didn't
- 47:32Speaker 6: plan that out, they absolutely nailed the execution.
- 47:35Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely.
- 47:37Speaker 4: I love that.
- 47:39Speaker 5: I'm cool picking that. I would even go earlier than
- 47:42Speaker 5: that and just see all of the, like, controversial footage
- 47:48Speaker 5: that they realize that they were in 2008. So you
- 47:51Speaker 5: see Jared from Subway on the bus. You got Bill
- 47:54Speaker 5: Cosby on the paper. They go and see The Hangover,
- 48:00Speaker 5: and it's the homophobic slur. And he sees that everyone
- 48:06Speaker 5: is laughing in the theater, and he's like, What? We're
- 48:09Speaker 5: in 2008. I thought that was so brilliant because... It
- 48:12Speaker 5: was unbelievable.
- 48:13Speaker 6: Yeah, everyone starts laughing at the F slur and he's like, wait,
- 48:16Speaker 6: we can't do that.
- 48:17Speaker 4: What the hell?
- 48:18Speaker 5: So problematic. Yeah, I love that.
- 48:22Speaker 4: And apparently, one of the other people that they show
- 48:24Speaker 4: was also somebody that's been canceled.
- 48:27Speaker 5: I don't even remember which guy it was.
- 48:28Speaker 4: Oh, really?
- 48:29Speaker 5: He's like a Canadian. Oh, that's hilarious. But everyone that
- 48:34Speaker 5: they showed had some sort of problematic cancellation.
- 48:37Speaker 4: That's funny. I didn't even clock the subway one. That's
- 48:41Speaker 4: really good.
- 48:42Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 48:43Speaker 4: Yeah. I just didn't even realize that was Jared.
- 48:46Speaker 5: That's really funny. But I would just... Yeah, I would
- 48:50Speaker 5: say what you picked and start even before that.
- 48:54Speaker 4: I like that. I like that a lot. Them walking
- 48:59Speaker 4: around and seeing themselves was my number one pick, for sure.
- 49:02Speaker 5: It's okay. Although, I will say.
- 49:06Speaker 4: Perhaps the thing I will remember from this movie forever
- 49:08Speaker 4: is him shooting that guy in the head because that
- 49:10Speaker 4: was shocking.
- 49:12Speaker 5: It was shocking. Oh, my God.
- 49:14Speaker 4: He shot him in the head.
- 49:16Speaker 5: When I came home later.
- 49:20Speaker 6: After seeing it the first time and I was like, Sammy,
- 49:22Speaker 6: you got to watch this movie. It's so clever and unique.
- 49:24Speaker 6: You'll never see anything like it. When that scene was coming,
- 49:27Speaker 6: I was just kind of like side-eyeing.
- 49:30Speaker 5: Like, uh-oh.
- 49:32Speaker 4: Don't give it away, but also be sure to know.
- 49:35Speaker 6: Trying not to be that person when they're like, well,
- 49:37Speaker 6: they're looking at me, so something crazy is about to happen.
- 49:39Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, totally, totally.
- 49:41Speaker 5: I laughed so hard when you sent me that text, though.
- 49:44Speaker 4: I was like on the flight. Holy shit.
- 49:48Speaker 5: Shut that guy in the head. Can't believe that.
- 49:52Speaker 4: That was good. Oh, and it's so, like, the scene
- 49:55Speaker 4: before that is so bad because he's just like, what's up, guys?
- 49:59Speaker 5: And they're just like, I call this bad.
- 50:00Speaker 4: This is not our relationship.
- 50:01Speaker 5: It's clearly his, like, master, like, room in the bus
- 50:05Speaker 5: or whatever.
- 50:07Speaker 4: Cool, bud. Thanks. Cool.
- 50:11Speaker 6: Which, in a way, is the brilliance of the writing
- 50:13Speaker 6: of this because it is, the whole film's motto is, like, friendship, right?
- 50:17Speaker 6: It's kind of like, the friendship of these guys and
- 50:19Speaker 6: you see that they have these superficial relationships or not
- 50:23Speaker 6: the same kind of magic relationship. And that's like a
- 50:25Speaker 6: slight way to show that, that you don't really maybe
- 50:28Speaker 6: notice the first time through that. That's where it's, it's
- 50:30Speaker 6: kind of pushing you in that direction.
- 50:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 50:33Speaker 4: And it's the whole thing. Like I love when he
- 50:35Speaker 4: makes them the choice. He's like, ah, I don't need
- 50:37Speaker 4: to be famous. I'd rather have my buddy back.
- 50:39Speaker 5: And, You know, also not be convicted of murder. Shoot
- 50:43Speaker 5: the guy in the head.
- 50:43Speaker 4: There's that as well. But that part of, yeah, so
- 50:48Speaker 4: silly and great. And as little as I want to
- 50:52Speaker 4: do the CN Tower tour, that whole scene is nuts.
- 50:56Speaker 5: That's my runner up.
- 50:57Speaker 4: From like going into the security, like you guys said,
- 51:00Speaker 4: and then going up. Oh, the hardware store, too.
- 51:02Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah. But then just being up.
- 51:06Speaker 4: There and then, like, just all the things. Terrifying. Crazy.
- 51:10Speaker 5: Yeah, and also, like.
- 51:11Speaker 6: Really fun, though. You know, how much of that was real? Like, obviously,
- 51:15Speaker 6: I know they didn't.
- 51:17Speaker 5: I want to know that, too. I know they didn't jump.
- 51:18Speaker 4: There is some trivia about that.
- 51:20Speaker 3: Okay, okay.
- 51:20Speaker 6: Well, I want to spoil it, but the whole time
- 51:21Speaker 6: I'm sitting there thinking, like, are they really cutting these
- 51:23Speaker 6: safety lines and all that kind of stuff?
- 51:25Speaker 5: Right.
- 51:26Speaker 4: Yeah, it's really interesting.
- 51:27Speaker 5: And how are they getting that footage from the... Because
- 51:31Speaker 5: it's clearly the dude... who works there, we're getting that
- 51:37Speaker 5: GoPro footage. It's like, how did they get that? Really clever.
- 51:41Speaker 5: There's a lot of questions I had with that.
- 51:43Speaker 4: Same, same. I would love to see a documentary about
- 51:46Speaker 4: how they made this movie.
- 51:47Speaker 5: Seriously, Dan.
- 51:47Speaker 4: Because I think that'd be really interesting to know what
- 51:53Speaker 4: sort of magic they did with it. I'm with you
- 51:55Speaker 4: on that. And then the rest of the movie.
- 51:58Speaker 5: Well, I was just going to say, I did really enjoy...
- 52:01Speaker 5: like the climax of Matt holding onto the cord as
- 52:04Speaker 5: Jay gets the RV up to 88 and the lightning strike.
- 52:09Speaker 5: I really loved that. I love how they shot that too.
- 52:12Speaker 5: Back to the future.
- 52:13Speaker 6: All of that was like, even the lightning coming down
- 52:16Speaker 6: the wire.
- 52:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 52:18Speaker 5: What felt like back to the future. Yes. And it
- 52:22Speaker 5: all came back to those pliers. It was great, dude.
- 52:27Speaker 5: I loved it.
- 52:30Speaker 4: Love it.
- 52:31Speaker 5: Uh, well, should we move ahead then?
- 52:33Speaker 4: Should we do some quotes and time to show me
- 52:35Speaker 4: the money?
- 52:37Speaker 5: Show me the money!
- 52:39Speaker 2: Show me the money!
- 52:42Speaker 5: Show me the money!
- 52:45Speaker 6: We kind of touched on some of these as we
- 52:46Speaker 6: often do. Um, the skydive. the sky divin sky dove
- 52:51Speaker 6: scene is so funny.
- 52:55Speaker 5: I'm caught in this trap again or whatever.
- 52:57Speaker 6: And I think I read that down here because it's
- 53:00Speaker 6: another bit that, that was really funny where he's like,
- 53:04Speaker 6: all right, that's not important. I'm going to re I'm
- 53:06Speaker 6: going to rephrase that. And he's like, ladies and gentlemen,
- 53:08Speaker 6: you're probably wondering why we're here because the skydiving is implied.
- 53:12Speaker 6: And then he's like, but the blind people, And then
- 53:15Speaker 6: he gets back in the loop again.
- 53:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 53:18Speaker 5: But then my one that I caught like a second
- 53:22Speaker 5: or third time was really funny. It was like, for
- 53:23Speaker 5: those who didn't see what happened, we sky dove home
- 53:25Speaker 5: in the same trap. That's the same thing.
- 53:27Speaker 4: What was I?
- 53:28Speaker 5: Oh, I'm in the same trap.
- 53:29Speaker 6: Oh, it's the terrorist line. That's the one I was
- 53:32Speaker 6: looking for where he's like, we're coming in terrorists.
- 53:35Speaker 5: And he's like, actually, wait.
- 53:37Speaker 6: He's like, we're going to be given the peace signs
- 53:38Speaker 6: so they know that they're not terrorists.
- 53:41Speaker 5: So then they'll know.
- 53:42Speaker 2: They'll know.
- 53:43Speaker 5: Then they'll know. Yeah, yeah.
- 53:47Speaker 6: And there were several like Matt Johnson just moments where
- 53:52Speaker 6: he's just saying this random stuff. They see like that
- 53:56Speaker 6: it kind of get stuck in my head and I'll
- 53:58Speaker 6: probably be quoting like, look at the gothness of it.
- 54:02Speaker 5: He sees the goth people. Oh, my God.
- 54:04Speaker 4: They're goth.
- 54:05Speaker 5: They're goth. They're goth.
- 54:06Speaker 8: Look at the gothness of it.
- 54:09Speaker 5: Real goths. Real goths.
- 54:11Speaker 4: Goths.
- 54:13Speaker 6: And then his ADHD moment on the couch later where
- 54:18Speaker 6: they get sidetracked so much where he's singing the ABCs
- 54:23Speaker 6: like Fat Albert.
- 54:24Speaker 5: The alphabet. Like the alphabet like Fat Albert.
- 54:26Speaker 4: So good.
- 54:26Speaker 5: And then just yells, Obama, at that point. And I...
- 54:31Speaker 5: It's like makes no sense, but it's just it feels
- 54:33Speaker 5: like this real character that is just says.
- 54:36Speaker 6: Random stuff like that. So and also had the moment
- 54:40Speaker 6: where the F slur is used and he's just like
- 54:44Speaker 6: the realization.
- 54:45Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 54:48Speaker 4: They also have a really I didn't write it down.
- 54:50Speaker 4: I should have. But like when they're explaining it later
- 54:53Speaker 4: and he's like, well, we knew we were back because
- 54:55Speaker 4: of that. And you can't.
- 54:56Speaker 5: Well, was it cool at the time? I don't know.
- 54:58Speaker 4: Jay's just like, it wasn't cool.
- 55:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 55:01Speaker 4: Yeah. I love that. He's like trying to figure it out.
- 55:04Speaker 4: It's just like, no, no.
- 55:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 55:06Speaker 4: So good. Yeah.
- 55:08Speaker 5: What do you guys have? I probably have a few
- 55:10Speaker 5: more here, but. Yeah, what do you guys? Yeah, I
- 55:14Speaker 5: felt like the most tender one, and it was literally
- 55:16Speaker 5: the only quote that they have on IMDb written down.
- 55:20Speaker 5: But if you've got a best friend, you won't even
- 55:22Speaker 5: notice getting older when he said that. That was pretty nice.
- 55:25Speaker 5: I liked that.
- 55:25Speaker 4: That was nice.
- 55:28Speaker 5: But then, yeah, I already said the encore, do the
- 55:31Speaker 5: intro again. I loved that. Do the intro again. Do
- 55:34Speaker 5: the intro again.
- 55:37Speaker 4: Also, that doesn't even seem crazy in the band meetings
- 55:40Speaker 4: that I've been a part of. Oh, for sure. Someone
- 55:42Speaker 4: said that.
- 55:43Speaker 5: We're going to do this intro and then everyone's going
- 55:45Speaker 5: to cheer.
- 55:46Speaker 4: You're going to go crazy.
- 55:47Speaker 6: Rob and I have been a part of many of
- 55:49Speaker 6: those conversations ourselves. And we're always like the guys who
- 55:52Speaker 6: are like, are they though?
- 55:53Speaker 4: Are we sure?
- 55:53Speaker 5: Maybe let's not plan on that. Let's just see if
- 55:57Speaker 5: it happens first.
- 55:57Speaker 4: If it happens, cool.
- 55:59Speaker 5: Maybe need if it happens.
- 56:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:02Speaker 5: Um, I love when they time travel and he falls
- 56:06Speaker 5: and you're just like, I hit my ass. Oh my God.
- 56:08Speaker 4: I hit my ass.
- 56:10Speaker 5: I hit my ass. Oh, I love that so much.
- 56:15Speaker 5: And also when they've just time traveled and they see.
- 56:17Speaker 4: The advertisement of the car that's crashed into the building.
- 56:21Speaker 5: He's like, it could have been a lot worse. And
- 56:23Speaker 5: like Jay isn't paying attention at all. He's like, you're
- 56:26Speaker 5: missing a great visual joke. Yeah.
- 56:29Speaker 6: That's a joke that's not, the trope that's not used
- 56:32Speaker 6: enough where it's like, I made a joke.
- 56:34Speaker 5: You have to hear this joke. Like, you don't really
- 56:36Speaker 5: see that.
- 56:37Speaker 6: And then right after that is one that I have
- 56:39Speaker 6: too that I forgot. He goes, you want to see
- 56:41Speaker 6: a movie? The way he delivers that line had me laughing.
- 56:45Speaker 6: Because I think the idea is like, he's like, that's stupid.
- 56:47Speaker 6: But then he loves the idea, of course.
- 56:49Speaker 5: He's like, yeah. You want to see a movie?
- 56:54Speaker 4: I'm in.
- 56:55Speaker 5: Um, I said that this is going to be a
- 56:57Speaker 5: copyright nightmare, but then he's like, if you're watching this
- 56:59Speaker 5: in the theater, you're lucky. Cause this is going to
- 57:01Speaker 5: be the only screening.
- 57:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 57:02Speaker 4: I really like that. It's great.
- 57:05Speaker 5: Uh, when he's on top of the RV and he's like,
- 57:07Speaker 5: I'm like Teen Wolf a little bit.
- 57:08Speaker 4: Right.
- 57:10Speaker 5: Like that. And then, yeah, just the talking to the
- 57:14Speaker 5: drunk French lady. He's like, is this funny to you?
- 57:17Speaker 5: My whole life is writing.
- 57:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 57:22Speaker 5: And what did you have, Bukes?
- 57:23Speaker 4: Oh, it's so good. I love when they're, it's early on,
- 57:26Speaker 4: but when they're writing on the whiteboard, this plan is
- 57:29Speaker 4: called the seventh inning. And then Jay's like, stretch.
- 57:32Speaker 5: He's like, skydive.
- 57:35Speaker 6: He lets him say it the second time at the
- 57:37Speaker 6: end of the film, which I noticed is like, he's
- 57:38Speaker 6: like admiring his friend.
- 57:40Speaker 4: He's like, oh, I love it.
- 57:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 57:42Speaker 4: Yeah. So maybe we go early. He's like, good call.
- 57:45Speaker 4: Good call.
- 57:46Speaker 5: But yeah, that actually is a good metaphor because you'd
- 57:49Speaker 5: never see what's going to happen in this movie. You
- 57:52Speaker 5: think it's going to be the stretch, and it's like, nope, skydive. Yeah,
- 57:55Speaker 5: that tells you what's coming in a way, right? Be
- 57:59Speaker 5: prepared for anything.
- 58:00Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 58:02Speaker 4: I love when he's like.
- 58:05Speaker 7: If you went when, how, what? I'm getting over, aren't I?
- 58:15Speaker 7: That made me laugh so much.
- 58:16Speaker 6: The fact that he happens multiple times where he's like
- 58:20Speaker 6: getting angry. And you realize that's part of his character
- 58:25Speaker 6: where he's like, he's he's trying not to be angry
- 58:28Speaker 6: about something.
- 58:28Speaker 5: He's he's getting angry. It's a really funny thing. I'm
- 58:31Speaker 5: just I'm embarrassed. And then just.
- 58:33Speaker 4: Oh, it's so good, dude. That really got me good. Also,
- 58:39Speaker 4: when they're in the theater watching The Hangover movie, he
- 58:43Speaker 4: gets up and he's just like.
- 58:45Speaker 5: Goodbye he's like what are you doing.
- 58:48Speaker 4: Move he's like oh sorry sorry sorry sorry.
- 58:52Speaker 8: Yeah goodbye matt he does it again yeah he doubles
- 58:56Speaker 8: down oh it's so funny so earnest uh and then
- 59:03Speaker 8: uh matt what he's like so this whole 2008 sequence
- 59:06Speaker 8: which would have been really hard to fake if it
- 59:08Speaker 8: weren't 2008 cannot be filmed what if we use the
- 59:11Speaker 8: old cameras oh.
- 59:12Speaker 4: Yeah we can just use those but he has like
- 59:15Speaker 4: his little wink of like this would be nearly impossible.
- 59:19Speaker 6: To fake I'm thinking the whole time like it's so
- 59:21Speaker 6: it's obvious they don't even know it right that's how
- 59:26Speaker 6: closely like no one else is gonna know you know Yeah.
- 59:30Speaker 6: So they're worried about things they weren't even noticing themselves.
- 59:32Speaker 4: Yeah. Right. Uh, one that got me real good is
- 59:37Speaker 4: when they're sitting in the closet, having to kind of
- 59:38Speaker 4: just wait it out. And you hear cream corn, you
- 59:42Speaker 4: son of a, what you didn't think a super villain
- 59:45Speaker 4: named can opener could be.
- 59:46Speaker 5: And then it cuts.
- 59:48Speaker 6: That's also one of the moments that I've keep getting
- 59:50Speaker 6: is a clip from the show that I mentioned earlier,
- 59:53Speaker 6: where you're hearing, you hear Jay singing all the names
- 59:55Speaker 6: of these old Sega and Nintendo games. games so it
- 59:59Speaker 6: goes from the cream corn thing and more cream corn
- 1:00:02Speaker 6: hours later and then it's that's a clip from the
- 1:00:08Speaker 6: show that's fun that song i that clips come up
- 1:00:12Speaker 6: on my social media feed so much the past couple
- 1:00:14Speaker 6: of weeks that i get that song stuck in my
- 1:00:16Speaker 6: head so when i watched it today i was like
- 1:00:19Speaker 6: oh that's a clip from the actual tv show I
- 1:00:22Speaker 6: love that. Which I think if you go back and
- 1:00:24Speaker 6: watch the show, it'd be funny to imagine, oh, their
- 1:00:26Speaker 6: future selves are in the closet right now.
- 1:00:28Speaker 5: They're in the closet right now. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: Yes, dude. Yeah. But, man, Cream Corn, you son of
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: a bitch. God, that's funny.
- 1:00:38Speaker 5: Cream Corn.
- 1:00:41Speaker 4: And then another one of his asides where he's like,
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: does this make sense? When he's like, is it 88
- 1:00:46Speaker 4: kilometers or miles?
- 1:00:48Speaker 5: It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. He just keeps going.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: I just love that. Those were most of the ones
- 1:00:56Speaker 5: I had. Did anybody else have more? That was all
- 1:00:59Speaker 5: I had. No.
- 1:01:00Speaker 6: I mean, the whole movie is constant, as always, with
- 1:01:03Speaker 6: some of these comedy films. But I was catching a
- 1:01:06Speaker 6: lot of this stuff the second and third time around
- 1:01:09Speaker 6: just because there's a ton of subtle little things, like
- 1:01:12Speaker 6: the one you just mentioned, 88 kilometers or miles per hour.
- 1:01:15Speaker 6: Shows how seriously the movie doesn't take itself with the science. Obviously,
- 1:01:19Speaker 6: the orbit spilling and all of that. But also, he
- 1:01:23Speaker 6: even misquotes Doc Brown for the gigawatts at some point.
- 1:01:27Speaker 6: And that feels intentional in a way that's like they're
- 1:01:32Speaker 6: not taking it seriously enough. Because the science doesn't matter, obviously,
- 1:01:35Speaker 6: with the orbits and all that nonsense.
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: And just like underlining that he's kind of a Navy.
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:01:42Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly. Yeah. That was a great point.
- 1:01:46Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 1:01:46Speaker 5: You guys really was well received. That's very well received.
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: I appreciate that. I needed that. Big fan of that. Oh,
- 1:01:58Speaker 5: that's great. The only other quote I had was just
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: when he wipes off the don't and it just says,
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: play the rivoli.
- 1:02:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:02:08Speaker 5: Like, that's enough.
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: That's nice.
- 1:02:09Speaker 5: That's enough to fix the whole timeline. Yep.
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: I love it.
- 1:02:14Speaker 5: Loved it.
- 1:02:15Speaker 4: It's all we need.
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: It's all we need.
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: Well, why don't we keep on moving? Let's go to
- 1:02:19Speaker 4: Bugues Boohoo Moments. Well, I thought you might have actually
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: boohooed in this, buddy. I was thinking maybe one, possibly two.
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: Love it.
- 1:02:29Speaker 5: Um, I think you might've boohooed when you saw Matt
- 1:02:33Speaker 5: holding the cord and the pliers. Yeah. That got me.
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: I love you so much.
- 1:02:40Speaker 5: It was so good. Um, I thought maybe the, what
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: I just said, the play, the Rivoli possibly.
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: No, that one didn't get me, but I did like
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: that a lot. Okay. That was close.
- 1:02:51Speaker 5: And the other one, uh, Was like the real quote
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: that I had brought up the.
- 1:02:58Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:02:59Speaker 5: The friends. Yeah.
- 1:03:01Speaker 4: The truth is, if you've got a best friend, you
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: won't even notice getting older.
- 1:03:04Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: I mean, come on.
- 1:03:06Speaker 5: That's a great line. It's a great line.
- 1:03:09Speaker 4: Great line.
- 1:03:10Speaker 5: Were there any other booze?
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:03:14Speaker 5: Yeah. That makes sense. nice too you nailed it boom
- 1:03:18Speaker 5: and i nearly pissed myself in a while really.
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: Nearly pissed myself laughing when he shot the guy so
- 1:03:22Speaker 4: there was oh my god that was so funny yeah
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: we've been doing so many silly comedies.
- 1:03:27Speaker 5: Oh interesting yeah although i cried.
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: During crocodile dundee the one we just did the one time.
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: I guessed wrong on that i thought for sure no
- 1:03:35Speaker 5: booze but did you cry when he's walking on the
- 1:03:38Speaker 5: people's heads in the end.
- 1:03:40Speaker 4: Yes There we go.
- 1:03:42Speaker 5: I love you. She loves you. Yeah, I knew it.
- 1:03:46Speaker 5: I was just like, dude, you're going to walk on
- 1:03:49Speaker 5: their hands? I agree.
- 1:03:50Speaker 4: That is the worst way to do what he was
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: trying to do.
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: I got that right. I've watched that movie a lot
- 1:03:59Speaker 5: by the way I know every minute I didn't realize
- 1:04:02Speaker 5: you were a Crocodile Dundee aficionado I assumed that Nate
- 1:04:06Speaker 5: was because he quotes it all the time he had
- 1:04:09Speaker 5: never seen it all the way through this guy threw
- 1:04:11Speaker 5: us a real curveball which is weird.
- 1:04:14Speaker 6: When my grandfather was still alive and I would go
- 1:04:16Speaker 6: stay with him when I was young if my parents
- 1:04:20Speaker 6: had me drop me off over there we would just
- 1:04:22Speaker 6: watch Crocodile Dundee because he loved it too my grandpa
- 1:04:25Speaker 6: And I think he was humoring me because I also
- 1:04:27Speaker 6: loved it when I was a little bit younger.
- 1:04:29Speaker 5: I probably shouldn't. I watched a lot of the movies
- 1:04:30Speaker 5: I shouldn't be watching at that age. Thanks, Mom.
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: Oh, same.
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: And I don't say that. Yeah, I don't say that
- 1:04:35Speaker 5: in a, I appreciate it.
- 1:04:36Speaker 4: Dude, mine, when I went to my grandma's, and I've
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: told this on here, was Police Academy. Yes. So, yes.
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: That was one of mine, too.
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:04:44Speaker 6: A lot of people wouldn't show their kids, but I'm
- 1:04:45Speaker 6: glad and thankful that my mom did.
- 1:04:47Speaker 5: So, yeah. Yep.
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: Same here. Same here.
- 1:04:51Speaker 5: Well, cool.
- 1:04:52Speaker 4: Should we do a little movie trivia now?
- 1:04:54Speaker 5: Yes, do it. Let's see.
- 1:04:56Speaker 4: Like the web and television series, most of their dialogue
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: and interactions with the public were not scripted and were
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: carefully assembled after hours of footage. including unused clips from
- 1:05:06Speaker 4: the web series, like we said. So that's pretty crazy.
- 1:05:09Speaker 5: Amazing.
- 1:05:09Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:05:10Speaker 5: Let's see.
- 1:05:12Speaker 4: The way that they were able to get the Marty
- 1:05:14Speaker 4: Supreme lookalike poster. Did you see this Marty Supreme lookalike poster?
- 1:05:19Speaker 5: I didn't see it.
- 1:05:20Speaker 4: Okay. Well, then I'm not going to say it. One
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: of the crew from Marty Supreme sent it to him.
- 1:05:25Speaker 4: That was basically it. So they made a thing really quick,
- 1:05:27Speaker 4: which is funny. Uh, let's see the Canadian tire store employee,
- 1:05:32Speaker 4: which I assume was the hardware store.
- 1:05:34Speaker 5: It had to be. Okay.
- 1:05:35Speaker 4: That's what I'm presuming. Uh, he was invited and attended
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: the Canadian premiere at the 2025 Toronto international film festival,
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: which I think is the best.
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: I love that they invited him. And then he was like,
- 1:05:49Speaker 4: hell yeah, that sounds great.
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: Yeah, dude.
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: I mean, he comes across looking great.
- 1:05:53Speaker 5: He's like, he really does.
- 1:05:54Speaker 4: And I believe in you're right.
- 1:05:56Speaker 5: But also, this is ridiculous. It's not worth it. Please
- 1:06:00Speaker 5: don't do this, sir.
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: That's so funny.
- 1:06:04Speaker 5: Oh, let's see.
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: Uh, the, the scene where Matt jumps from the TTC
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: was filmed on the day of a Taylor Swift concert
- 1:06:12Speaker 4: so that there would be less police presence where they
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: were filming. Oh, wow.
- 1:06:16Speaker 5: So all the police were at the concert.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:06:19Speaker 5: I guess.
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: Amazing. I guess so.
- 1:06:22Speaker 5: Uh, okay.
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: This is fun. The skywalk footage at the CN tower
- 1:06:26Speaker 4: was from a GoPro on top of the four guides helmets. Um, uh,
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: so they, they take that fill of film anyway. Uh,
- 1:06:34Speaker 4: the CN tower tour guides have a script that they
- 1:06:37Speaker 4: always stick to for all their tours, uh, and move
- 1:06:40Speaker 4: their heads in the same way each tour and so on.
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: So Matt, uh, found that out and then choreographed their movements,
- 1:06:47Speaker 4: the movements of the other people based on that. And
- 1:06:49Speaker 4: then they spliced together like green screenshots of them actually
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: jumping and cutting and all those things. Uh, Yeah, it's
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: so smart and so great. But yeah, so like he
- 1:06:59Speaker 4: found that out and then he kind of planned around it.
- 1:07:02Speaker 6: This maybe feels like a perfect example of like labor
- 1:07:05Speaker 6: of love type.
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:07:06Speaker 6: Passion that if someone really cares about a project, they're
- 1:07:09Speaker 6: going to make it really good. That's what it felt like,
- 1:07:12Speaker 6: especially with those kind of bits of information.
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: Painstaking, right?
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:07:17Speaker 5: In the best way.
- 1:07:18Speaker 4: Yeah. Love that. the scene where Matt bumps his ass
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: was real and turned his entire lower body purple.
- 1:07:25Speaker 5: Apparently. I hit my ass. I hit my ass. God,
- 1:07:31Speaker 5: that was so good. That's good. I expect that will
- 1:07:34Speaker 5: be yelled on the Home Free Tour bus.
- 1:07:36Speaker 4: There's a couple of those.
- 1:07:37Speaker 5: I hit my ass. I hit my ass.
- 1:07:41Speaker 4: Uh, the film was shot twice. The first time being
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: a road trip movie. Uh, and the footage will be
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: repurposed for season three of their TV show.
- 1:07:49Speaker 5: Oh, amazing.
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: A whole different idea. Um, let's see. And in the
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: original version of the movie, uh, it involved Matt and
- 1:07:59Speaker 4: Jay going on the road trip in an RV in
- 1:08:02Speaker 4: the province, inspired by a Confederacy of Dunces. Uh, the
- 1:08:06Speaker 4: two reviewed the footage and they found the story like just,
- 1:08:09Speaker 4: didn't have the right focus basically for a film or
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: like scope or whatever um and so they they later
- 1:08:17Speaker 4: pitched a jay pitched the idea that the film being
- 1:08:19Speaker 4: a parody of blockbusters and utilizing the unused footage from
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: the web.
- 1:08:23Speaker 5: Series so brilliant brilliant brilliant really well thought.
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: Out stuff um.
- 1:08:30Speaker 5: This is kind of weird and fun.
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: During a virtual Q & A held by Alamo Drafthouse
- 1:08:35Speaker 4: in February of 2026, Matt said that the entire crew
- 1:08:39Speaker 4: was arrested while Jay was in a mascot costume inside
- 1:08:42Speaker 4: a children's bathroom.
- 1:08:43Speaker 5: Apparently.
- 1:08:45Speaker 4: The next day during a Reddit AMA, when asked to elaborate,
- 1:08:49Speaker 4: he simply said, I said way too much and I
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: regret that.
- 1:08:53Speaker 5: Oh, no. Amazing.
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: Lawyers were like do not talk anymore about this this
- 1:08:58Speaker 4: is not the thing we can have you talk about
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: um i think we said this earlier the pedestrian who
- 1:09:05Speaker 4: says this is also jay the the drunk guy yeah
- 1:09:08Speaker 4: he was not a plant matt johnson had to spend
- 1:09:11Speaker 4: almost a half hour talking to him to manipulate him
- 1:09:13Speaker 4: into saying jay's name so that's amazing there's some massaging
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: that's happening there which is kind of fun and weird
- 1:09:20Speaker 4: uh chance you might recognize this i didn't recognize it
- 1:09:23Speaker 4: although i love it the film's opening credits end with
- 1:09:26Speaker 4: the sound of a grandfather clock followed by an instrumental
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: piano song played by jay the song he is playing
- 1:09:32Speaker 4: is the theme to the 90s super nintendo rpg chrono
- 1:09:36Speaker 4: trigger uh when the game opens it also features the
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: clock leading into the instrument.
- 1:09:41Speaker 6: I recognized the song but i couldn't place where it
- 1:09:43Speaker 6: was from so thank you for that um And the
- 1:09:47Speaker 6: music was notable all the way through because they were
- 1:09:50Speaker 6: obviously emulating a lot of the little motifs from Back
- 1:09:53Speaker 6: to the Future intentionally, but in a clever enough way
- 1:09:57Speaker 6: that you know it's not a copyright, it's not ripping
- 1:10:01Speaker 6: it off, but it's obviously supposed to be that.
- 1:10:04Speaker 5: That was great. And I think that's cool.
- 1:10:07Speaker 4: Oh, that's my very next one. The production thought that
- 1:10:10Speaker 4: they would be able to use the theme of Back
- 1:10:11Speaker 4: to the Future under the fair use policy. But as
- 1:10:15Speaker 4: they because they'd been able to use other film scores
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: under fair use in their TV series. But they learned
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: that this would not be the case. And when they
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: when they did learn that Jay McCarroll wrote a sound
- 1:10:26Speaker 4: like score for the film. But there is one moment
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: in the film where they snuck in the original score,
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: and it's after Matt says the film is going to
- 1:10:33Speaker 4: be a copyright nightmare.
- 1:10:35Speaker 5: That's amazing.
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: A little homage, which is pretty great.
- 1:10:38Speaker 5: That's great.
- 1:10:38Speaker 4: I love that. I also love him writing, like, something
- 1:10:42Speaker 4: close enough, but not, you know, just enough to get
- 1:10:45Speaker 4: by it. That's really fun. The subplot of Jay shooting
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: his bandmate was conceived when Drake's security guard was shot,
- 1:10:52Speaker 4: and the crew decided to shoot some of those scenes
- 1:10:56Speaker 4: during the news coverage. So they use some of the
- 1:10:59Speaker 4: actual news coverage, apparently.
- 1:11:00Speaker 5: That's also brilliant.
- 1:11:03Speaker 4: Brilliant.
- 1:11:04Speaker 5: Nice.
- 1:11:05Speaker 4: So crazy. And then all the scenes with current day
- 1:11:08Speaker 4: Matt and Jay in their 2008 apartment were shot on
- 1:11:11Speaker 4: a set designed to look exactly like the original. They
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: tried actually to shoot in the original apartment like they
- 1:11:18Speaker 4: did for the web series. But the woman who lives
- 1:11:20Speaker 4: there now kept refusing their offers. They ended up offering
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: her so much money that they then realized it would
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: cost about the same to just recreate it on the soundstage.
- 1:11:28Speaker 5: And so they went that way.
- 1:11:30Speaker 6: You would never know though that's the thing because it's
- 1:11:33Speaker 6: so cleanly back to back that it you wouldn't have
- 1:11:37Speaker 6: known that it was a different location that's crazy.
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: The way they can do that i think is really
- 1:11:41Speaker 4: magic too yeah i think it's so cool so yeah
- 1:11:45Speaker 4: that was all the trivia i had i don't know
- 1:11:46Speaker 4: rob did you have.
- 1:11:48Speaker 5: Any you hit everything else.
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: Okay that's fair there wasn't a ton out there either
- 1:11:52Speaker 4: so Chance, did you have any trivia we didn't have?
- 1:11:54Speaker 6: No, I was actually looking forward to this segment in
- 1:11:57Speaker 6: your show so I could learn all of the things
- 1:11:58Speaker 6: that I was wanting to find out.
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: So thank you for that. I would love like a
- 1:12:03Speaker 5: making of of this.
- 1:12:06Speaker 6: And I on that note, too, like obviously, I guess
- 1:12:09Speaker 6: I've seen clips from the web series because that's what
- 1:12:11Speaker 6: you were talking about.
- 1:12:12Speaker 5: And it was old, old footage.
- 1:12:14Speaker 6: But I will probably be binging the the actual TV
- 1:12:18Speaker 6: show here pretty soon.
- 1:12:19Speaker 4: So, yeah, I want to check it out now for sure.
- 1:12:22Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:12:22Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:12:23Speaker 5: Uh judgment day will there be a sequel it sounds
- 1:12:26Speaker 5: like there will be a third season of the show
- 1:12:28Speaker 5: we just got that.
- 1:12:29Speaker 4: That's nice trivia was that also can they do an
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: indiana jones uh homage they love back to the future
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: can we do that that's like can we just pick
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: these other great there's yeah like things.
- 1:12:39Speaker 5: There's a little uh post-credit scene too did you guys
- 1:12:44Speaker 5: see i didn't see the post-credits no no so it's
- 1:12:47Speaker 5: it i didn't see it the first time and but
- 1:12:49Speaker 5: it I went back and found it today.
- 1:12:52Speaker 6: If at the end of the credits, it goes back
- 1:12:55Speaker 6: to the cameraman who's outside the window of their old
- 1:12:59Speaker 6: apartment in the old timeline in 2008. And you see
- 1:13:02Speaker 6: the closet door moving because, well, actually you see Jake
- 1:13:06Speaker 6: come in and erase don't.
- 1:13:10Speaker 5: And he leaves.
- 1:13:11Speaker 6: And then you see the closet door moving and it
- 1:13:12Speaker 6: cracks open and it's young Matt having witnessed that.
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: Whoa cool so crazy that's kind of fun yeah let's
- 1:13:23Speaker 4: get a sequel yeah let's make a sequel it's gonna
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: be an inception sequel yeah it's gonna be like incepting
- 1:13:28Speaker 4: go deeper are we gonna do this yeah yeah that's
- 1:13:32Speaker 4: love it oh yeah i'd love to see.
- 1:13:34Speaker 5: You do that same you guys want to play a
- 1:13:37Speaker 5: game Yeah, I never do. Let's try. I made it
- 1:13:43Speaker 5: shorter than I usually do. Instead of 10, I did five.
- 1:13:47Speaker 5: So because I know you don't love this part, but
- 1:13:50Speaker 5: I made a starting five where I'm going to take
- 1:13:52Speaker 5: five actors from a particular film. They're my favorite five actors.
- 1:13:57Speaker 5: And you get a point naming all the actors. You
- 1:14:01Speaker 5: get a point. You name the movie. There's no negative
- 1:14:04Speaker 5: points if you get any of those wrong. And the
- 1:14:07Speaker 5: other person can steal if you get any. Yeah. All
- 1:14:11Speaker 5: of these will have something in common when you know
- 1:14:13Speaker 5: the theme you can ring in at any time for
- 1:14:16Speaker 5: a point. And it might have to do with something
- 1:14:20Speaker 5: of the movie that we just talked.
- 1:14:21Speaker 4: Maybe.
- 1:14:22Speaker 6: Also, I'll go on the record and say I don't
- 1:14:25Speaker 6: dislike the games. I just have such a niche love
- 1:14:28Speaker 6: of certain types of movies. I'm not always good at
- 1:14:30Speaker 6: the games. I feel that. For the viewers out there, I.
- 1:14:34Speaker 5: Love the games. And then you dominate. And also, because
- 1:14:39Speaker 5: of the theme, I couldn't get all 10 anyway. Oh,
- 1:14:42Speaker 5: so this worked out.
- 1:14:43Speaker 4: I was like, oh, well. So really, you blamed him.
- 1:14:47Speaker 5: A little bit. A little bit. If I'm being honest,
- 1:14:50Speaker 5: I did get 10, but I had to stretch it
- 1:14:53Speaker 5: pretty big at the end. And you were like, well,
- 1:14:55Speaker 5: maybe we just do less.
- 1:14:56Speaker 4: Let's just do less.
- 1:14:58Speaker 5: So here we go. Number one, the first name is
- 1:15:00Speaker 5: Paul Giamatti. The second name is Noah Emmerich. The third
- 1:15:10Speaker 5: name is Laura Linney. Number four, Ed Harris. Chance. Chance.
- 1:15:23Speaker 5: Say it. Is it Truman Show? It is the Truman Show. Ring, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
