- 1:01Speaker 2: She is the editor in chief of Marie Claire as
- 1:04Speaker 2: well as a dear friend of mine, and it was
- 1:06Speaker 2: an absolute no brainer to have Niki join me for
- 1:10Speaker 2: this series, not only because her episodes was one of
- 1:14Speaker 2: the most listened to episodes of twenty twenty four, but
- 1:19Speaker 2: also because this woman's got wisdom that I want, need,
- 1:25Speaker 2: must distribute into the world. I really appreciate Nicky's openness
- 1:31Speaker 2: about the challenges that she braved over the past year,
- 1:35Speaker 2: the highs and lows of her first full year in
- 1:37Speaker 2: the hot seat as Marie Claire's editor in chief, and
- 1:41Speaker 2: the way that she really put a lot of thought
- 1:43Speaker 2: into what I asked her to come in and chat about.
- 1:47Speaker 2: We talk about what she wants to stop, start, and
- 1:49Speaker 2: keep doing in twenty twenty five, how stretching has actually
- 1:52Speaker 2: completely changed the game for her wellness routine, and why
- 1:56Speaker 2: is she's so strict about her wellness routine. What it
- 1:59Speaker 2: is about the practices that she incorporates into her every
- 2:04Speaker 2: week that make her feel like a better human. I'm

- 3:22Speaker 2: you are looking for a little inspiration and your local
- 3:24Speaker 2: to New York City, you are in luck because I'm
- 3:26Speaker 2: hosting a goal setting workshop next Thursday, January ninth. Details
- 3:30Speaker 2: about that will be in the newsletter tomorrow's Weekly Hurdle.
- 3:34Speaker 2: With that, let's get to it, let's get it to
- 3:36Speaker 2: a hurdling. Today, I'm setting back down with my dear friend,
- 3:47Speaker 2: editor in chief of Marie Claire Nikki Oganaki. How are
- 3:50Speaker 2: we doing next? I'm doing well. How are you? I'm good, good,
- 3:52Speaker 2: and happy to be in the studio with you. I'm
- 3:54Speaker 2: happy to be here too. I can't believe we're at
- 3:56Speaker 2: the end of another year. Can you believe it?
- 3:58Speaker 1: No, twenty twenty four really flew by in such a
- 4:01Speaker 1: blur that I'm kind of like, when I was like
- 4:03Speaker 1: thinking about this podcast today, is kind of like.
- 4:05Speaker 2: What did I do this year? Yeah? It was really
- 4:10Speaker 2: it was really really crazy. Yeah, a wild one. Do
- 4:13Speaker 2: you feel as though this year was in particularly more
- 4:17Speaker 2: crazy than usual? Yeah?
- 4:20Speaker 1: I do, because our like so at Marie Claire, I
- 4:24Speaker 1: started in August twenty twenty three, which means I had
- 4:28Speaker 1: like a bit of twenty twenty three, but like my
- 4:32Speaker 1: job really, in my eyes, like really kicked off there
- 4:34Speaker 1: in the new year. So in like top of twenty
- 4:37Speaker 1: twenty four, we like really hit the ground running. And
- 4:40Speaker 1: so in doing that, it was everything from like starting
- 4:44Speaker 1: a newsletter to in consistently doing that, starting a podcast
- 4:48Speaker 1: and consistently doing that, getting two print issues off the ground,
- 4:50Speaker 1: getting four digital issues off the ground, and just like
- 4:54Speaker 1: flying just like really really flying through twenty twenty four
- 4:57Speaker 1: live events, all all of the things, and then also
- 4:59Speaker 1: like you know, my personal life stuff and so having
- 5:03Speaker 1: a life outside of work and maintaining that. So Yeah,
- 5:07Speaker 1: it was a really sort of wild twenty twenty four that.
- 5:10Speaker 2: I did not expect, knowing that it was going to
- 5:13Speaker 2: ramp up, Like you went in to twenty four, knowing
- 5:16Speaker 2: after the holidays that things were about to get wild.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Was there anything that you did preliminarily to gear yourself
- 5:24Speaker 2: up for that undertaking?
- 5:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I really just tried to rest, Like
- 5:28Speaker 1: this is one of the first years. Twenty twenty four,
- 5:32Speaker 1: like end of twenty twenty three to beginning of twenty
- 5:35Speaker 1: twenty four was probably one of the first times that
- 5:36Speaker 1: I've ever taken like a solid two weeks off at
- 5:38Speaker 1: the end of the year, you know, very little phone time,
- 5:43Speaker 1: very little screen time, just hanging out with friends, hanging
- 5:45Speaker 1: out with family, fitness, all of that stuff. Just really
- 5:48Speaker 1: trying to prioritize that, just knowing that like it could
- 5:51Speaker 1: go a little haywire going into January and February.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Yeah, how did that feel? How did it feel? Taking
- 5:59Speaker 2: the rest? Loved it?
- 6:00Speaker 1: I'm glad it was amazing. Everyone. If you can, like,
- 6:03Speaker 1: I highly highly recommend it. Just is really I think
- 6:07Speaker 1: the one time of the year when most people shut down,
- 6:10Speaker 1: and so to be able to do that, to be
- 6:12Speaker 1: able to work at a place that like afforded me
- 6:13Speaker 1: the opportunity to do that was really was really great.
- 6:17Speaker 2: How would you say at this point right now, how
- 6:20Speaker 2: are you doing? Really? How am I doing? Really? I'm tired.
- 6:25Speaker 1: I am tired, but not in a like in a
- 6:29Speaker 1: tired way where it's like I couldn't possibly go on.
- 6:31Speaker 1: There's a bit of like a tiredness where it's like, damn,
- 6:34Speaker 1: we did a lot this year, like holy shit, like
- 6:37Speaker 1: we got through so many things this year and can't
- 6:41Speaker 1: wait to see what like twenty five and twenty six
- 6:43Speaker 1: bring us. Yeah, Like I'm not dreading going into twenty
- 6:46Speaker 1: twenty five, and I'm not dreading closing out this year.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Like I think end of twenty twenty three, I was
- 6:50Speaker 1: like wrap it up, like I'm done, Like let's go,
- 6:53Speaker 1: let's close things out. But now I'm just kind of like, yeah,
- 6:56Speaker 1: twenty twenty four was really great and onward.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Was it what you expected or did it exceed your expectations?
- 7:05Speaker 1: I think that any expectations that I would have had
- 7:07Speaker 1: for twenty twenty four, like life through so many curveballs
- 7:11Speaker 1: that I couldn't even predict half of the things, like
- 7:14Speaker 1: everything from you know, putting on live events from Marie
- 7:18Speaker 1: Claire to like running a relay race in Greece with Nike,
- 7:21Speaker 1: Like could not have predicted any of those things would
- 7:23Speaker 1: have popped up, really, And so I'm trying to not
- 7:28Speaker 1: put expectations or yeah, I'm just trying not to put
- 7:31Speaker 1: like expectations on what life will bring me in twenty
- 7:36Speaker 1: twenty five because it's kind of like I'm just trying
- 7:38Speaker 1: to take things as they come.
- 7:39Speaker 2: I totally can relate to that, and I think that
- 7:44Speaker 2: we are set up in such a way that when
- 7:47Speaker 2: you have a reasonable expectation or maybe there are things
- 7:50Speaker 2: that are recurring, if you know that they're not going
- 7:54Speaker 2: to happen again, there's like that innate worry that comes up,
- 7:57Speaker 2: right because you know, well, this is what I you,
- 8:00Speaker 2: this is what I was used to. But I have
- 8:03Speaker 2: no reason to believe that I won't figure it out,
- 8:06Speaker 2: just because next year is going to look different than
- 8:09Speaker 2: it has in the previous years. And so for me,
- 8:12Speaker 2: like there are two big projects that I've done at
- 8:15Speaker 2: the beginning of the last two years and I'm not
- 8:17Speaker 2: doing them in twenty twenty five, and it's like okay, well, yeah,
- 8:21Speaker 2: there's anxiety around that, but also I have no reason
- 8:24Speaker 2: to believe that it's not going to be okay.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Yeah, and like imagine what happening that having that open
- 8:29Speaker 1: space will bring you, Like things you may not even
- 8:32Speaker 1: know are on the horizon, Like you could get hit
- 8:34Speaker 1: jan one and somebody could be like, hey, do these
- 8:36Speaker 1: things instead and.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Yeah, wow, yeah, my version of a Nike Grease Relay race. Wait,
- 8:42Speaker 2: we need to at least touch on the Nike Grease
- 8:45Speaker 2: Relay race. It was really crazy.
- 8:46Speaker 1: I got a text from Cheyenne and Aaron and they
- 8:49Speaker 1: were like, hey, what are you doing these dates? And
- 8:52Speaker 1: I was like, well, I think I'm going to be
- 8:54Speaker 1: in Europe for work actually, and they were like, do
- 8:57Speaker 1: you want to join Nike and be like, you know,
- 9:00Speaker 1: one of two people or one of like a handful
- 9:02Speaker 1: of people from the US to go run this relay
- 9:06Speaker 1: race in Greece for the it must have been the
- 9:09Speaker 1: PEG forty one, I want to say, for National Running Day.
- 9:14Speaker 2: And I was like yeah, sure, Like sure.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Why not?
- 9:16Speaker 2: Like how long do I have to run? Four miles? Okay? Cool?
- 9:19Speaker 1: And I'll go to Greece for a little bit, and
- 9:21Speaker 1: I'll have this new experience and meet new people from
- 9:23Speaker 1: all over the world. Like, I don't generally say no
- 9:29Speaker 1: to a lot of things, like especially those types of opportunities,
- 9:32Speaker 1: because I just never know where, like what they can
- 9:34Speaker 1: lead to in the future. So when those sorts of
- 9:37Speaker 1: wild things sort of pop up, I generally say yes.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Yeah. It's interesting though, because I also know you to
- 9:43Speaker 2: be someone who loves to own your now.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I know, which is really funny. I say
- 9:49Speaker 1: no to things where I'm just sort of like MEH
- 9:54Speaker 1: on them. Yeah, Like I really do operate on a
- 9:57Speaker 1: sort of like if it's not a hell, yes, then
- 9:59Speaker 1: it's a yeah.
- 10:01Speaker 2: And I think that's really empowering and also comes with
- 10:05Speaker 2: a lot of personal work, right, so much personal work.
- 10:09Speaker 1: One of my things, like we were talking about things
- 10:11Speaker 1: that we want to like keep what was it?
- 10:13Speaker 2: It was keep getting Nike things that we want to
- 10:16Speaker 2: stop start and keep doing in twenty twenty fives.
- 10:19Speaker 1: So stop for me is guilt, like feeling guilty about
- 10:22Speaker 1: saying no, feeling or like people pleasing tendencies, like in
- 10:26Speaker 1: a weird way, I had like I'm happy to own
- 10:29Speaker 1: my no. But with the no comes like a little
- 10:32Speaker 1: bit of guilt, a little bit of like how is
- 10:34Speaker 1: this going to affect me in the future? And I'm
- 10:35Speaker 1: really trying to get out of my head and stop
- 10:38Speaker 1: that sort of like guilt or the anxiety that comes
- 10:42Speaker 1: with saying no, and just like just own the no wholeheartedly.
- 10:48Speaker 2: How does someone stop feeling guilty about owning their no?
- 10:53Speaker 1: You tell me, I think it is just about being
- 11:00Speaker 1: fine with like sitting in the uncomfortability that may come
- 11:04Speaker 1: with a no, and then realizing that ultimately that no
- 11:07Speaker 1: is probably going to serve you more than saying yes would,
- 11:14Speaker 1: and like weighing like would you rather feel like shit
- 11:18Speaker 1: and kind of have done the thing that you didn't
- 11:20Speaker 1: want to do?
- 11:20Speaker 2: Or would you rather say no?
- 11:22Speaker 1: And then like, you know, a couple days later, be like, Okay,
- 11:24Speaker 1: that was fine, right, That like sucked for maybe like
- 11:27Speaker 1: an hour of feeling the guilt, but okay, I'm over it.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Okay, stop feeling guilty in twenty twenty five for owning
- 11:34Speaker 2: your no. What do we want to start doing? Oh,
- 11:37Speaker 2: let me see, I want to start acupuncture. Oh I
- 11:39Speaker 2: love this journey for you. I want to start acupuncture.
- 11:42Speaker 1: That is the one thing like I feel like I've
- 11:44Speaker 1: like solidly sort of figured out my like wellness and
- 11:47Speaker 1: fitness routine as it stands, But I'd really like to
- 11:51Speaker 1: get into acupuncture because I think it would help with
- 11:53Speaker 1: stress levels.
- 11:54Speaker 2: It would help with me sort.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Of just like laying still for a period of time
- 11:58Speaker 1: and really not defaulting to like scrolling on my phone
- 12:01Speaker 1: when I want to sort of zone out and just
- 12:03Speaker 1: like sitting there, like laying still.
- 12:06Speaker 2: And through acupuncture aside from sitting still, what are you
- 12:11Speaker 2: helping to accomplish with it? Oh? I think it's a
- 12:15Speaker 2: reduction of stress levels. Okay, love that. Yeah, Okay, what
- 12:18Speaker 2: else are you doing aside from the inevitable acupuncture to
- 12:22Speaker 2: cope with your stress levels right now? Oh, that's a
- 12:24Speaker 2: great question.
- 12:26Speaker 1: It is a lot of just like movement, honestly, and
- 12:30Speaker 1: movement in a bunch of different ways. So that's training
- 12:33Speaker 1: with my trainer and go okafor that is running outside
- 12:38Speaker 1: with friends. I just recently one of my good girlfriends
- 12:41Speaker 1: just recently got into running, and so we meet, you know,
- 12:44Speaker 1: Saturday mornings and we do a loop in the park
- 12:47Speaker 1: and it's been really lovely for me to see her
- 12:50Speaker 1: growth in running. And so just like carving out that
- 12:54Speaker 1: you know, hour hour and a half space for us
- 12:56Speaker 1: to just sort of like run and talk has been
- 12:59Speaker 1: really fortifying.
- 13:02Speaker 2: And what else am I doing? I mean, I'm trying.
- 13:05Speaker 2: I'm always trying to get off my phone.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Like the internet is a weird dark place and a
- 13:11Speaker 1: lot of my job depends on it. But as much
- 13:13Speaker 1: as I cannot be on it, like I'm really trying.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Not to, Okay, I love the helping someone come up
- 13:20Speaker 2: in their own journey.
- 13:22Speaker 1: It's so for you, It's so great. It really is
- 13:24Speaker 1: like one of the most fulfilling things I've done.
- 13:26Speaker 2: It's fulfilling because you have the opportunity to help someone
- 13:30Speaker 2: be better in a way that they've expressed interest in doing.
- 13:33Speaker 2: It's not like you're saying to this person, oh, you
- 13:35Speaker 2: must come run with me, right, so you have this
- 13:37Speaker 2: time together. And then also the accountability of it all right,
- 13:41Speaker 2: to have someone that you know is going to be there,
- 13:43Speaker 2: that you have a like minded goal of moving your body,
- 13:48Speaker 2: working against stress and just enjoying the time. It's great.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Yeah, And it was really nice and fulfilling for me
- 13:54Speaker 1: to see to It's the little things like I've been
- 13:57Speaker 1: running for you know ten years at this point, but
- 13:58Speaker 1: to see somebody who just go into running and see that,
- 14:01Speaker 1: like we built every weekend and we would you know,
- 14:05Speaker 1: she I think had run maybe a mile at most,
- 14:08Speaker 1: and then we did our first five k together like
- 14:10Speaker 1: two weeks ago, and just that growth to see it
- 14:14Speaker 1: really is like very cheesy and very like heartwarming, but
- 14:18Speaker 1: it's also like, wow, damn, she really put her mind
- 14:21Speaker 1: to something and I helped her put her mind to
- 14:23Speaker 1: that and we accomplished a goal together.
- 14:25Speaker 2: It's special. When would you say, is the last time
- 14:28Speaker 2: that the roles were reversed for you in a similar
- 14:31Speaker 2: way in that you were trying to acquire or learn
- 14:34Speaker 2: a new skill. It could even be professional a yeah,
- 14:37Speaker 2: and someone kind of took you under their wing to
- 14:40Speaker 2: help instill that within you. Yeah, I would.
- 14:43Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, I think professionally this year, just being
- 14:45Speaker 1: an editor in chief and having Hillary Kerr, who is
- 14:48Speaker 1: my boss at Future and at Marie Claire just take
- 14:53Speaker 1: me under her wing and just like offer so much
- 14:55Speaker 1: guidance and support from you know, literally everything from the
- 15:00Speaker 1: stuff that I have to do in the day to
- 15:01Speaker 1: day to podcasting, like Hillary has the podcast Second Life,
- 15:07Speaker 1: and she was telling me the other day she thinks
- 15:08Speaker 1: she's done like almost five hundred interviews.
- 15:10Speaker 2: At this point, I was like, damn, Like, you need.
- 15:12Speaker 1: To come on my podcast and teach me the art
- 15:14Speaker 1: of podcasting, because that's crazy. Just having somebody like her
- 15:20Speaker 1: at you know, having access to somebody like Hillary and
- 15:24Speaker 1: being able to ask her any question has just been unexpected.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Like I didn't go into twenty twenty four, or I mean,
- 15:32Speaker 1: I guess I went into twenty twenty four knowing that
- 15:34Speaker 1: I would be an editor in chief, but it was
- 15:35Speaker 1: still a new relationship with Hillary. So to watch that
- 15:38Speaker 1: sort of bloom has really been really so great for
- 15:41Speaker 1: me as well.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Mentorship, to that note, can be something that a lot
- 15:46Speaker 2: of people crave and seek for someone that is hoping
- 15:51Speaker 2: to mabe solidify a mentorship relationship in the new year.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Any advice on how to go about that in a
- 15:58Speaker 2: way that has a little bit more ease, Yeah, Yeah.
- 16:02Speaker 1: I think the thing about mentorship and when people want mentors,
- 16:05Speaker 1: they unfortunately, like sometimes maybe don't realize just how busy
- 16:09Speaker 1: their mentor is, and so to ask for a ton
- 16:13Speaker 1: of time for somebody may not be feasible on that
- 16:16Speaker 1: other person's end. So I would say, start setting up
- 16:19Speaker 1: like small bite size meetings, like hey, can I get
- 16:22Speaker 1: fifteen minutes of your time like once a month, and
- 16:25Speaker 1: then see how it grows from there. I also think
- 16:28Speaker 1: that people maybe underestimate that mentorship is a two way relationship,
- 16:31Speaker 1: and so people go into it and they say, I
- 16:33Speaker 1: want that person to be my mentor that person may
- 16:36Speaker 1: not be up for mentoring, you know, when really having
- 16:39Speaker 1: to to realize that it is sort of a reciprocal
- 16:43Speaker 1: relationship that takes time to build and may not sort
- 16:48Speaker 1: of like bloom initially, Like Hillary and I have been
- 16:50Speaker 1: working together for a year now, and so it's a
- 16:52Speaker 1: much different relationship than we had.
- 16:54Speaker 2: You know, end of twenty twenty three, totally. And I
- 16:57Speaker 2: appreciate that fifteen minute bite size recommendation for the person
- 17:02Speaker 2: that's seeking that mentorship to go into that fifteen minutes
- 17:06Speaker 2: with thoughts, questions, ideas, et cetera, because it's not the
- 17:10Speaker 2: mentor's job to just spell all of this random wisdom
- 17:14Speaker 2: on you and be like cool, go off now, right.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Because I think a lot of people when they are
- 17:18Speaker 1: looking for mentors, they are looking for somebody to just
- 17:20Speaker 1: like pour a whole bunch into them. But I'm you know,
- 17:25Speaker 1: as somebody who I think mentors people and I wholeheartedly
- 17:29Speaker 1: believe in like peer mentorship too. It's really like what
- 17:32Speaker 1: do you need? Like my question is always like, okay,
- 17:34Speaker 1: what do you want? And not in a bad way,
- 17:36Speaker 1: but like what do you actually want? And have you,
- 17:38Speaker 1: as the mentee taken the time to think about like
- 17:41Speaker 1: what you want and what you're hoping this mentorship relationship
- 17:44Speaker 1: will give you?
- 17:45Speaker 2: But how important is that in all of our relationships? Really?
- 17:49Speaker 2: Exactly if you're asking yourself what is it that I
- 17:51Speaker 2: want from this relationship and also having those realistic expectations
- 17:55Speaker 2: so that you know what relationship takes, what of you,
- 17:59Speaker 2: or demands what of you or what you can give
- 18:02Speaker 2: to each of these relationships. Knowing that you have a
- 18:04Speaker 2: reasonable expectation, that is critical, so critical. Nikki Yoganagi, what
- 18:10Speaker 2: are we keeping in twenty twenty five? Oh? Interesting? What
- 18:14Speaker 2: am I keeping? Let's see stretching immobility practice. Wow, do
- 18:22Speaker 2: you actually have a stretching.
- 18:26Speaker 1: I stretch every Sunday, I go to stretch class every
- 18:28Speaker 1: Sunday at the fit in, and then I do pilates
- 18:30Speaker 1: every Monday morning. And that has really that has actually tested.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Me in ways I mean I could.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Not have imagined like pilates is consistently hard, it's humbling,
- 18:44Speaker 1: but I keep going back for more because that is
- 18:46Speaker 1: one place it's a new sort of practice for me.
- 18:49Speaker 1: I've never done plates consistently. I've never done string journey
- 18:52Speaker 1: or I've never done stretching consistently, and so having both
- 18:57Speaker 1: of those, incorporating both of those into my life, I
- 18:59Speaker 1: think really having that sort of weakly humbling really sort
- 19:04Speaker 1: of keeps me on my toes. And also it is
- 19:07Speaker 1: just like super helpful again in stress reduction for me.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Yeah, stretching is impressive. To go to a stretching class
- 19:14Speaker 2: is very impressive. Forty five minutes every Sunday morning. Wow,
- 19:18Speaker 2: talk about an investment in self. Do you feel differently
- 19:21Speaker 2: incorporating the stretching into your routine? I do, Yeah, I
- 19:24Speaker 2: really do.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Actually, I think it makes a huge difference in terms
- 19:26Speaker 1: of because I've like up to my strength training more,
- 19:30Speaker 1: having the stretching and the mobility just practice in general,
- 19:34Speaker 1: it just helps me like not be as stiff as sore,
- 19:37Speaker 1: Like the sort of fluidity of my body I think
- 19:41Speaker 1: is really helping me like move with ease throughout life.
- 19:45Speaker 2: A little more. Isn't that the goal though? Isn't that
- 19:48Speaker 2: the goal though? Yeah? If someone could tell me that
- 19:50Speaker 2: forty five minutes a week would lessen the amount of
- 19:52Speaker 2: lower back pain that I have or alleviate my stress,
- 19:55Speaker 2: I would be like, it's an absolute no brainer, which
- 19:57Speaker 2: is why I have been personally leaning into Yogalla. Yeah.
- 20:00Speaker 1: I just did my first Y seven class the other day.
- 20:02Speaker 1: The first one second I did why seven like when
- 20:05Speaker 1: it first launched, but I haven't done it in so
- 20:08Speaker 1: so long.
- 20:08Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, I get it. Okay, Yeah, I
- 20:11Speaker 2: get it, and I understand what we're doing in here.
- 20:13Speaker 2: They've actually recently opened a new core power in Park
- 20:16Speaker 2: Slope that I've been checking out. Oh really yeah, okay, okay,
- 20:19Speaker 2: stretching and mobility. Keeping that in twenty twenty five, I'm
- 20:22Speaker 2: really proud of you. Thank you, welcome.
- 20:24Speaker 1: All of the stuff that I'm trying to do fitness wise,
- 20:26Speaker 1: like really informs the way that I move through life, right,
- 20:30Speaker 1: and so like the running, the strength training, you know, stretching, mobility,
- 20:35Speaker 1: all of that really strengthens I think the way that
- 20:38Speaker 1: I manage as an editor in chief, the way that
- 20:41Speaker 1: I'm moving through life.
- 20:42Speaker 2: I'm trying to just.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Lean into continuing to give myself these like pockets of
- 20:49Speaker 1: rest in these or active rest, however you want to
- 20:52Speaker 1: call it, for myself so I can then pour into
- 20:57Speaker 1: my team.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Yeah, and what I'm hearing you say is that this
- 21:00Speaker 2: isn't just like, oh, I stumble into a class on Sunday.
- 21:03Speaker 2: You have a schedule.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we're scheduled out to the point where my
- 21:07Speaker 1: friends are like, what is happening? And I'm like, if
- 21:09Speaker 1: you're not hoping on, like I told.
- 21:10Speaker 2: You, guys, this is it.
- 21:12Speaker 1: I would love to like figure it out. And my
- 21:15Speaker 1: word for twenty twenty five is actually flexibility. So I'm
- 21:18Speaker 1: trying to be a little more flexible in the scheduling
- 21:21Speaker 1: of my life. But scheduling out fitness ensures that it
- 21:28Speaker 1: is a priority.
- 21:29Speaker 2: In my life and it doesn't fall by the wayside.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Why do you think you're a scheduler? I think that
- 21:37Speaker 2: life sort of demands it.
- 21:38Speaker 1: I think my job sort of demands it, and so
- 21:41Speaker 1: there's like kind of no way around it. But knowing
- 21:44Speaker 1: that outside of work, I can schedule these pockets for
- 21:47Speaker 1: myself ensures that I actually give back to myself.
- 21:50Speaker 2: And also ensures that at times you can give back
- 21:53Speaker 2: to your relationships, right, because I'm sure that your workouts
- 21:57Speaker 2: are not the only thing that you're scheduling out weeks
- 22:00Speaker 2: at a time. No, not at all.
- 22:01Speaker 1: It's you know, it's the like, Okay, are we going
- 22:04Speaker 1: to go to dinner at Pullarbar? Like me and Philip,
- 22:06Speaker 1: are we going to dinner Pullar? Okay, that's like two
- 22:08Speaker 1: weeks out, So scheduling that like just making sure that
- 22:10Speaker 1: there are moments for dates or moments for you know,
- 22:13Speaker 1: hanging out with my sister when she's in town, brother,
- 22:16Speaker 1: my niece's nephews, all of those people, just to make
- 22:18Speaker 1: sure that they are a part of you know, like
- 22:22Speaker 1: take priority in my life as well, because work is
- 22:24Speaker 1: so all consuming.
- 22:25Speaker 2: If I wanted it to be, right, if you wanted
- 22:27Speaker 2: it to be And I love that approach to it.
- 22:29Speaker 2: It's that it's not that by not allowing it to
- 22:32Speaker 2: be all consuming, you're any less or more all in.
- 22:35Speaker 2: It's just being able to put up these boundaries so
- 22:37Speaker 2: that you know how to handle the responsibilities in a
- 22:40Speaker 2: way that feels sustainable. Yeah, and I think that is
- 22:42Speaker 2: super important articulate one hundred percent.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that work can take over it could
- 22:49Speaker 1: be everything, it could be anything. But we've seen continuously
- 22:53Speaker 1: how work, how corporations can sort of just turn on you. Yeah,
- 22:57Speaker 1: and so you have to have a sense of self.
- 23:01Speaker 1: I wholeheartedly believe you have to have a sense of
- 23:03Speaker 1: self outside of work. Being able to run these races
- 23:06Speaker 1: or porn to friends, peorn to family is helpful in
- 23:10Speaker 1: me having a sense of self outside of work.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Taking a little break from today's episode to give some
- 23:19Speaker 2: love to my friends at A six. Whether your new
- 23:23Speaker 2: year's goals consist of more positive mindsets, more movement, or

- 23:43Speaker 2: that creates a softer and smoother running experience for all
- 23:47Speaker 2: of the miles ahead. Now A six is providing hurdle

- 24:15Speaker 2: next order using the code hurdle ten h u r
- 24:18Speaker 2: d l E one zero at checkout at aesix dot
- 24:23Speaker 2: com today. Okay, so you mentioned that your word for
- 24:33Speaker 2: twenty twenty five is flexibility. I'll double click on that
- 24:35Speaker 2: in a second, but first let's talk about your word
- 24:38Speaker 2: for twenty twenty four.
- 24:39Speaker 1: My word for twenty twenty four was growth, and then
- 24:45Speaker 1: I sort of changed it to growing because I wanted
- 24:49Speaker 1: it to be active. I wanted to be able to
- 24:53Speaker 1: think about continuously growing as the year goes on, as
- 24:56Speaker 1: the days go on, minutes, all of that stuff, and
- 24:59Speaker 1: so just being open to the act of continuously growing
- 25:03Speaker 1: was really important for me.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Okay, growing twenty twenty four. What would you say the
- 25:08Speaker 2: hardest challenge was that you had to grow through in
- 25:11Speaker 2: twenty twenty four?
- 25:12Speaker 1: Oh my god, I mean work was intense. It's the
- 25:16Speaker 1: first full year that I was an editor in chief,
- 25:18Speaker 1: so that took a lot of growing through managing people.
- 25:23Speaker 1: I feel like we've discussed this before, but managing people
- 25:26Speaker 1: is a special set of skills that I think is
- 25:31Speaker 1: somewhat inherent. But you can continue to you know, harness
- 25:35Speaker 1: and tinker and grow and really sort of like learn people.
- 25:39Speaker 1: So I did a lot of that in twenty twenty
- 25:41Speaker 1: four and a lot of you know, I did some
- 25:43Speaker 1: things I did really well. Some things that I look
- 25:45Speaker 1: back on, I'm like, was wasn't my best performance. I
- 25:47Speaker 1: probably could have done better there, But just like acknowledging
- 25:51Speaker 1: that and growing from those things has been really important
- 25:53Speaker 1: in twenty twenty four.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Well, if you don't acknowledge it, then you can't grow
- 25:56Speaker 2: from it exactly. And I think that that whether we're
- 25:59Speaker 2: talking person like, professionally, and whatever aspect it is that
- 26:02Speaker 2: we're looking at here, that acknowledgement and meeting yourself with
- 26:05Speaker 2: where you're at is the first step into getting anywhere else.
- 26:09Speaker 2: And for those that have trouble then meeting themselves with
- 26:14Speaker 2: where they're at or getting honest about it. I do
- 26:16Speaker 2: think that there are a few tools that you can
- 26:18Speaker 2: implement so that you can kind of break through those walls.
- 26:21Speaker 2: For me, a really big practice is journaling and writing
- 26:24Speaker 2: things down. Sometimes when you have these thoughts and you
- 26:27Speaker 2: don't consolidate them into one place, they just kind of
- 26:30Speaker 2: float around and allow you to kind of maybe stretch
- 26:33Speaker 2: your own version of the truth. So journaling for me
- 26:36Speaker 2: is really helpful. Also talking to other people about where
- 26:38Speaker 2: I'm at. Do you have any tools that you use
- 26:40Speaker 2: to kind of come to terms with what is?
- 26:43Speaker 1: Oh, that's such a good question. I wish I could
- 26:47Speaker 1: say journaling. I'm honestly not the best. I'm really not
- 26:50Speaker 1: a good journaler. But I do think that talking to
- 26:53Speaker 1: friends has been really helpful. I think, you know, I
- 26:57Speaker 1: was talking to one of my really good friends and
- 26:59Speaker 1: she told me something that she had learned in therapy
- 27:02Speaker 1: was this concept of keeping your shirt on and so
- 27:04Speaker 1: not overextending yourself, not rushing to solve other people's problems,
- 27:08Speaker 1: which in learning that, I was like, oh, I actually
- 27:10Speaker 1: do that often. And so taking those moments to really
- 27:13Speaker 1: ask my friends what's going like what they have learned
- 27:16Speaker 1: through their own sort of either therapy practices or check
- 27:21Speaker 1: ins with themselves and trying to apply those learnings.
- 27:23Speaker 2: Has been really helpful for me.
- 27:24Speaker 1: And then I think like doing these sorts of not
- 27:28Speaker 1: end of your wrap ups, but like really asking your
- 27:31Speaker 1: self pointed questions and then responding to them is really key.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Yeah. I've never done like any set, like any level
- 27:39Speaker 2: of personal reflection had been like what a waste of time?
- 27:41Speaker 2: That was?
- 27:42Speaker 1: No, not at all, actually, no, no way. Yeah, it's
- 27:44Speaker 1: just it's always such an opportunity to really stop and say, Okay,
- 27:49Speaker 1: how did that make me feel? I feel like people
- 27:51Speaker 1: really rush through life. I know I'm one of those
- 27:53Speaker 1: people who like really rush through life. So stopping and
- 27:57Speaker 1: thinking about questions like these is a is a weird exercise.
- 28:01Speaker 2: And to your point you said sitting down with different friends,
- 28:04Speaker 2: I think taking a look at your board of directors,
- 28:06Speaker 2: knowing that the people that you surround yourself with they
- 28:09Speaker 2: all bring different things to that boardroom table, right, So
- 28:12Speaker 2: to be able to have conversations like this with different
- 28:15Speaker 2: individuals is also super critical because it's not really like, oh,
- 28:19Speaker 2: I've had one conversation about how the year went with
- 28:22Speaker 2: one person, I can move forward now. It's like no, like,
- 28:25Speaker 2: other people can really help you dial in on the
- 28:29Speaker 2: different parts of your story, and that's super valuable. Totally.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I think that for me as well,
- 28:35Speaker 1: like hosting nice talk over this last year my podcast,
- 28:40Speaker 1: I ask a lot of the same questions to all
- 28:42Speaker 1: of the women that come on, so like when do
- 28:45Speaker 1: you feel your most powerful?
- 28:46Speaker 2: When do you feel powerless? Like how do you harness
- 28:49Speaker 2: your power?
- 28:50Speaker 1: How do you say no? How do you learn to
- 28:51Speaker 1: advocate for yourself? Asking all of these different types of
- 28:55Speaker 1: people from like Leno Waith and Asia Wilson to like
- 28:58Speaker 1: Page Disorbo and you know Brinn from Real Housewives of
- 29:01Speaker 1: New York. Like talking to all of these different types
- 29:03Speaker 1: of women and asking them the same pointed questions has
- 29:07Speaker 1: really been interesting for me because I get to take
- 29:09Speaker 1: a little bit of advice, like slice of life from
- 29:12Speaker 1: each person that I get to talk to.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Yeah, how hard was it for you not to fan
- 29:16Speaker 2: girl over Brynn? Because I listened to this episode and
- 29:19Speaker 2: I was just giggling on my little run and listening
- 29:22Speaker 2: to the two of you talk. I was like, Nikki
- 29:24Speaker 2: is loving every ounce of this.
- 29:25Speaker 1: I truly like every person that I get to speak
- 29:28Speaker 1: with on the podcast is like hand chosen, hand selected
- 29:31Speaker 1: for a reason for one reason or the other.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Brinn, I think, is like actually just hysterical. I really
- 29:38Speaker 2: like her.
- 29:38Speaker 1: I know she's having a tough season on Real Housewives
- 29:40Speaker 1: of New York this season, but like, I have a
- 29:42Speaker 1: soft spot for her and there and I think that
- 29:45Speaker 1: she is when I think of like women in New
- 29:49Speaker 1: York who are trying to make it on their own,
- 29:50Speaker 1: trying to do their own thing, have their own businesses,
- 29:53Speaker 1: I really do think she embodies that, and so it
- 29:55Speaker 1: was so fun to talk to her.
- 29:56Speaker 2: I love that you mentioned twenty twenty five the word
- 29:59Speaker 2: is flexibilit Why is flexibility important to you in twenty
- 30:02Speaker 2: twenty five?
- 30:03Speaker 1: Flexibility manifests itself in a couple of different ways, or
- 30:06Speaker 1: I see it manifesting itself in a couple of different
- 30:08Speaker 1: ways over twenty twenty five.
- 30:10Speaker 2: So literally physically, so.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Like being able to like continuing to stretch a mobility
- 30:16Speaker 1: and yoga and all of those things, but also just
- 30:18Speaker 1: flexibility in work and in life. Like if there's one
- 30:22Speaker 1: thing that being an editor in chief at Marie Claras
- 30:25Speaker 1: taught me is that I never know what the day
- 30:27Speaker 1: will bring, and just being able to roll with the punches,
- 30:31Speaker 1: or if I do get punched, then getting back up
- 30:34Speaker 1: in good time is I think inherent to longevity in
- 30:38Speaker 1: this business.
- 30:39Speaker 2: So that's really important to me.
- 30:40Speaker 1: And then flexibility with friends and with you know, relationships
- 30:45Speaker 1: and family, Like I don't know where I will be personally,
- 30:50Speaker 1: you know, it's hard to plan. I may have to
- 30:52Speaker 1: pop up and fly to Paris in three weeks, like
- 30:55Speaker 1: who knows, And so just being able to be comfortable
- 30:58Speaker 1: a bit in that flexibility is really important. So I
- 31:01Speaker 1: don't like snap when something just like goes slightly off course.
- 31:05Speaker 2: It's just so challenging, understandably rely tough, right because also,
- 31:11Speaker 2: as we've talked about, you are someone who loves a schedule.
- 31:14Speaker 2: You already know what you're doing two to three weeks
- 31:17Speaker 2: from now, should a trip to Paris pop up, and
- 31:20Speaker 2: then having to go back and pivot and move and
- 31:24Speaker 2: shake from that can understandably feel a little bit frustrating.
- 31:27Speaker 1: Yeah, and it can feel unnerving a little bit too,
- 31:30Speaker 1: Like I realize over the pandemic and then just over
- 31:34Speaker 1: the last couple of years, like I am not good
- 31:36Speaker 1: with change, and that was very illuminating for me, and
- 31:42Speaker 1: I just sort of have to get better with change.
- 31:44Speaker 1: I would think one way to get better with change
- 31:46Speaker 1: is just embracing flexibility.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Yeah, understandable though the difficulty that comes with navigating change
- 31:54Speaker 2: and also the importance of having grace with yourself knowing
- 31:58Speaker 2: that so much of the change that we experienced over
- 32:01Speaker 2: the last handful of years was not only unforeseen but
- 32:05Speaker 2: also hate this word, but unprecedented.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Right, and so we're knowing as well that we're heading
- 32:12Speaker 1: into another four years of uncharted, unprecedented territory. Like flexibility
- 32:17Speaker 1: is going to be the only thing that gets me through.
- 32:19Speaker 2: Yeah, like full stop, and good people and good movement
- 32:22Speaker 2: and perhaps good wine, definitely good wine, absolutely Okay, Looking
- 32:27Speaker 2: into twenty twenty five, what would you say you're most
- 32:30Speaker 2: excited about, Nikki.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Oh, what am I most excited about in twenty twenty five?
- 32:35Speaker 2: I don't know. I think it's like settling into.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Who I was able to grow into in twenty twenty four. Honestly,
- 32:42Speaker 1: I'm really excited to see what life and twenty twenty
- 32:46Speaker 1: five will bring me. In terms of work, Like, I
- 32:49Speaker 1: think I'm honestly just getting started at Marie Clair. So
- 32:53Speaker 1: this last year was like definitely a growing year, So
- 32:55Speaker 1: I'm excited to see what that brings me.
- 32:57Speaker 2: And then for friends and relationships, I'm.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Really excited to continue to grow them. Honestly, I think
- 33:03Speaker 1: I've really sort of settled into who I am, and
- 33:08Speaker 1: I'm really proud of myself and I'm really just excited
- 33:10Speaker 1: to continue to grow in that way.
- 33:13Speaker 2: This word growing is really resonant for us here today.
- 33:15Speaker 2: I think so it is it should be. When you
- 33:18Speaker 2: think about who it is that you are at your core,
- 33:20Speaker 2: what comes to mind, I'm kind of silly.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a silly side in here, and I think
- 33:29Speaker 1: I'm I think I'm an optimist honestly, Like, yeah, i
- 33:33Speaker 1: think I'm an optimist. I'm really excited to knowing that
- 33:37Speaker 1: these next years will be possibly tough. I still am
- 33:41Speaker 1: a half I'm still a glass half full kind of go.
- 33:44Speaker 2: Yeah you are. Then we know that energy that tracks
- 33:47Speaker 2: like energy. So by being an optimist and choosing to
- 33:51Speaker 2: view things with this glass half full perspective, you are
- 33:54Speaker 2: then met with situations and people that also treat you
- 33:57Speaker 2: with that good energy percent.
- 34:00Speaker 1: Another word I would add is pragmatic, Like I'm very
- 34:04Speaker 1: sort of I don't have my heads in the clouds,
- 34:08Speaker 1: Like I know very clearly what is happening, and I
- 34:11Speaker 1: can accept it and I may not like it, but
- 34:13Speaker 1: I can't accept it and understand it and say okay,
- 34:16Speaker 1: like it's not great but maybe the positive way of
- 34:19Speaker 1: looking at this is this, or maybe there's not a
- 34:23Speaker 1: positive way of looking at and you just got to
- 34:24Speaker 1: sit in it for a little bit and then you
- 34:26Speaker 1: can move on.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Have you always been pragmatic? Yeah? Yeah, yeah. Well I
- 34:30Speaker 2: think some people that like hear you explain that, they're like, wow,
- 34:32Speaker 2: that attitude or that approach sounds very pleasant, and maybe
- 34:35Speaker 2: I don't know how to harness that approach. So that's
- 34:37Speaker 2: why I A.
- 34:38Speaker 1: I know, I have always been pragmatic, and I think
- 34:42Speaker 1: it's mostly because like working in the in the fashion industry,
- 34:45Speaker 1: like you can get spun out and spun in dizzying
- 34:49Speaker 1: ways all the time.
- 34:52Speaker 2: If you allow yourself to.
- 34:53Speaker 1: And so I really just try to stay rooted and
- 34:56Speaker 1: pragmatic in my daily life so I don't get like
- 35:00Speaker 1: spun away in a tornado.
- 35:01Speaker 2: You know, it's.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Catastrophizing, like this industry, the news, like people love to catastrophize,
- 35:06Speaker 1: and I really really try to not fall for.
- 35:09Speaker 2: That, Wow, catastrophizing. We don't want to do that. In
- 35:13Speaker 2: twenty twenty five.
- 35:14Speaker 1: You will find yourself catastrophizing, will be like damn, how
- 35:16Speaker 1: did that happen?
- 35:17Speaker 2: Literally how did I get there? But The thing is
- 35:19Speaker 2: is that once you start catastrophizing one thing again. I
- 35:22Speaker 2: know I just said this, but energy attracts like energy, right,
- 35:24Speaker 2: So if you are sitting there thinking about the worst
- 35:27Speaker 2: possible case scenario in one aspect of your life, then
- 35:30Speaker 2: I guarantee you that it's gonna feel like the dominoes
- 35:32Speaker 2: are starting to fall everywhere around.
- 35:34Speaker 1: And everything is just like I can't catch a break,
- 35:37Speaker 1: or this is so shitty, your life is so horrible,
- 35:39Speaker 1: and it's like, gotta break yourself of that.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Yeah, we talked about the word for twenty four being growing.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Would you say that that growth is what you're actually
- 35:47Speaker 2: most proud of?
- 35:50Speaker 1: I am really proud of the growth of twenty twenty four. Yeah,
- 35:53Speaker 1: I am very, very proud of the growth of twenty
- 35:55Speaker 1: twenty four. And I'm also proud of the sort of
- 36:00Speaker 1: residual growth that I think I've been able to impart
- 36:03Speaker 1: on people around me, from colleagues to friends to a family.
- 36:09Speaker 2: We love growth, We love growth for all. As you
- 36:11Speaker 2: start to wind down here, Nikki, tell me, what is
- 36:13Speaker 2: one thing that you're doing now that you never really
- 36:17Speaker 2: envisioned yourself doing, either personally or professionally.
- 36:22Speaker 1: I mean, there's like a handful of things. Number one
- 36:26Speaker 1: is being daitor in chief. If you had asked me
- 36:28Speaker 1: in two thousand and seven if I was going to
- 36:32Speaker 1: do this job, I don't know that I well, I
- 36:35Speaker 1: know I wouldn't have said yes. It just wasn't even
- 36:38Speaker 1: on a vision board for me. So that's really really exciting.
- 36:41Speaker 2: What was on a vision board? Oh in two thousand
- 36:43Speaker 2: and seven, Yeah, it was small.
- 36:45Speaker 1: I wanted to be a market director and that job
- 36:48Speaker 1: barely even exists anymore. So it was I think for
- 36:52Speaker 1: me in two thousand and seven, graduating from college, I
- 36:56Speaker 1: didn't even know what like this world could afford me,
- 36:59Speaker 1: and so just dreaming big, embracing the expansiveness of life
- 37:06Speaker 1: has been key. In continuing to embrace that has been integral,
- 37:11Speaker 1: I think to my success.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Yeah, it's so funny because I always think about and
- 37:16Speaker 2: love by this. Remember when you wanted what you have
- 37:18Speaker 2: now concept and I too can relate to that. I
- 37:22Speaker 2: didn't even know that I could be doing what I'm doing,
- 37:26Speaker 2: and I never envisioned some of the things that are
- 37:29Speaker 2: now on my vision board. And I think that that's
- 37:32Speaker 2: a really powerful place to be in, to be in
- 37:35Speaker 2: this place where you realize and have an appreciation for
- 37:38Speaker 2: where you're at, and then now are empowered and not
- 37:42Speaker 2: so scared to dream even bigger. Yeah, that's some pretty
- 37:47Speaker 2: awesome Stuffred percent, what facets of the job are you? Like?
- 37:51Speaker 2: This is exactly where I'm supposed to be right now.
- 37:53Speaker 2: I really love the big ideation. I like the idea of.
- 38:00Speaker 1: I don't want to say, pushing people, but really encouraging
- 38:02Speaker 1: people to be better. I've always said that I know
- 38:07Speaker 1: I have high standards, but I'm not unfair.
- 38:11Speaker 2: I'm not, you know, delusional. I'm not. Yeah, I'm not unfair.
- 38:16Speaker 1: And so just knowing that having high standards can bring
- 38:21Speaker 1: a product, can bring a brand, can bring myself to
- 38:24Speaker 1: new heights is really inspiring.
- 38:27Speaker 2: I love that. I love that. All right. The last
- 38:29Speaker 2: thing we're going to do here today is we're going
- 38:31Speaker 2: to set a smart goal for twenty twenty five. Oh interesting? Okay, Okay,
- 38:34Speaker 2: so do you have one off the top of your head? No,
- 38:38Speaker 2: how do smart goals work? I shall know this? No,
- 38:40Speaker 2: I love I love being this person for you. Okay.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Smart goals specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time bound. So
- 38:48Speaker 2: an example of a smart goal that would be like
- 38:51Speaker 2: a habit based goal would be I'm going to drink
- 38:54Speaker 2: three thirty two ounce bottles of water a day right now.
- 38:58Speaker 2: I probably drink too if I'm lucky. This is me
- 39:01Speaker 2: confessing my weakest area of wellness. So it's specific in
- 39:06Speaker 2: that it's three bottles, it's measurable, it's three bottles. It's
- 39:09Speaker 2: attainable because I'm at too, so like one more bottle
- 39:11Speaker 2: is it's doable. It's relevant because I care about it,
- 39:15Speaker 2: because I'm active, because I know the benefits of hydration,
- 39:18Speaker 2: and it's time bound in that I want to do
- 39:20Speaker 2: it over the course of one day. Now, you could
- 39:21Speaker 2: have like a milestone goal, which is in November, I'm
- 39:26Speaker 2: going to run the New York City Marathon. That if
- 39:30Speaker 2: you are someone that cares passionately about running already has
- 39:33Speaker 2: some sort of a base, that could be a realistic
- 39:35Speaker 2: smart goal for you. Okay, that's good.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I think then my smart goal. I
- 39:42Speaker 1: know you guys are tired of me hearing saying this,
- 39:44Speaker 1: but it really would revolve around stretching. So I want
- 39:47Speaker 1: to stretch like twenty minutes a day, and that could
- 39:49Speaker 1: be broken up. I would see myself doing it in
- 39:53Speaker 1: small chunks, so like ten minutes in the morning, ten
- 39:55Speaker 1: minutes in the evening and doing it, you know, five
- 39:59Speaker 1: days a week.
- 40:00Speaker 2: How many days a week are you doing that right now? Three? Oh? Okay, okay,
- 40:04Speaker 2: then that is a smart goal. So it would be
- 40:07Speaker 2: unsmart if you told me you were doing it one
- 40:09Speaker 2: day a week right now, and then you wanted to
- 40:11Speaker 2: do it five days a week. So a smart goal
- 40:14Speaker 2: for someone who's currently stretching for twenty minutes three days
- 40:17Speaker 2: a week could be I want to stretch for twenty
- 40:19Speaker 2: minutes five days a week. Yeah, Okay, there it is.
- 40:22Speaker 2: There's your smart gorole for twenty check in at the
- 40:23Speaker 2: end of the year. You know that we will thank you.

- 40:29Speaker 2: down with you. It brings me so much joy and
- 40:30Speaker 2: you're all of your optimistic awesomeness. Thank you for having me.
