- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus at the ten yard lives second to day
- 0:08Speaker 1: free wide receivers. Now in motion is Bumpas left to right,
- 0:12Speaker 1: Julius Jones with a single setback Matt Pumpfeck's looking at
- 0:14Speaker 1: the gold line. He throws it into the end zone. Touchdown.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone. Our ten yard touchdown reception for Puppas and
- 0:26Speaker 1: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. What's up, twelves,
- 0:34Speaker 1: I am Michael Bumpas with Nasa chobying. Unfortunately, the Hawks
- 0:38Speaker 1: lose to the Rams thirty to twenty in the wild
- 0:41Speaker 1: card playoffs, which means this will be the last show
- 0:44Speaker 1: of the year. When it comes to Hawk Talk, Nas,
- 0:50Speaker 1: I don't feel good about this. They's took an l.
- 0:52Speaker 1: They took it on the chin. It's the way they
- 0:54Speaker 1: took the L That kind of like hurts me because
- 0:56Speaker 1: I felt like I just watched the homie get beat
- 0:59Speaker 1: up and I could do nothing about it. I'd had
- 1:01Speaker 1: to stand there and watch you go down. Extremely disappointed.
- 1:04Speaker 1: It's been rough, man, the last sport eight hours have
- 1:07Speaker 1: been it's been hard to handle. I'm not gonna lie
- 1:09Speaker 1: to you. I'm still quite a bit in my feelings
- 1:11Speaker 1: about what we witnessed on Sunday, and like it's like
- 1:14Speaker 1: you said, man, it's it's how we lost the game. Man.
- 1:16Speaker 1: We were out physical, they came up to our house
- 1:18Speaker 1: and they beat us, and it's just it's disappointing because
- 1:20Speaker 1: we now good. This football team is we now good?
- 1:22Speaker 1: This roster is you know good, this coaching staff is
- 1:24Speaker 1: so yeah, Man, I think disappointing is going to be
- 1:27Speaker 1: the theme of this podcast today because man, it just
- 1:30Speaker 1: feels because you watch the games on Sunday and like
- 1:32Speaker 1: we should still be playing. We should be prepping for
- 1:34Speaker 1: a divisional game in New Orleans. But that's why why
- 1:38Speaker 1: you play the games. It's postseason and you gotta play
- 1:40Speaker 1: good at this time of year, and the Seahawks just
- 1:42Speaker 1: didn't get it done. Gotta put all together all right,
- 1:44Speaker 1: let's break it down. What had happened? See what had happened?
- 1:47Speaker 1: At first? What had happened was und I'll tell you
- 1:55Speaker 1: what had happened, man, It is wasn't the Seahawks a day.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Russell Wilson really couldn't get gone. He was eleven for
- 1:59Speaker 1: twenty seven one hundred and seventy four yards, two touchdowns,
- 2:03Speaker 1: pick six, and was sacked five times. There was no
- 2:07Speaker 1: rhythm and that nothing felt fluid. The one touchdown pass
- 2:11Speaker 1: a DK, The first one was off a broken play.
- 2:13Speaker 1: The last one the Rams are just keeping everything in
- 2:15Speaker 1: front of him, not really applying pressure. So he made
- 2:18Speaker 1: a couple of plays. But that interception I feel like
- 2:20Speaker 1: was not on Russell Wilson. People will say, oh, he
- 2:23Speaker 1: should have checked out of that. You could tell the
- 2:25Speaker 1: defense this is what we're gonna do. If you just block,
- 2:28Speaker 1: just getting the guy's way, then I think good things
- 2:30Speaker 1: are gonna happen. I think Freddy's just hesitated for a second,
- 2:33Speaker 1: and that split second is what caused there's a whim
- 2:36Speaker 1: to get through cleanly and pick six. That thing, it
- 2:38Speaker 1: was just it was like you know on a dream,
- 2:41Speaker 1: when you have your dreams and you're trying to run
- 2:43Speaker 1: and he just can't run. That's what that whole game
- 2:46Speaker 1: felt like to me. They just could not get going. Yeah,
- 2:49Speaker 1: And the thing about two is penalties. Man penalties were
- 2:52Speaker 1: just drive killers. When you're playing Los Angeles Rams, one
- 2:54Speaker 1: thing you cannot do is get behind the sticks. I
- 2:56Speaker 1: couldn't tell you how many times it was first and fifteen,
- 2:59Speaker 1: first and twenty point. I think it goes second and
- 3:01Speaker 1: thirty four. Yeah, I mean, you get behind the six
- 3:04Speaker 1: against these guys, you're you're done. Like those were drive killers.
- 3:07Speaker 1: If you get the first and twenty five, you're not
- 3:09Speaker 1: getting out of that unless you get lucky with a penalty.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Just because of how good they are defensively. This was
- 3:13Speaker 1: the number one defense in the NFL, and they played
- 3:15Speaker 1: like it, whether it's Aaron Donald or Floyd or Williams,
- 3:20Speaker 1: whoever it was. When you get in that situation and
- 3:22Speaker 1: now they can rush the passer and they give our
- 3:23Speaker 1: offensive line fits all day long. And in that's case,
- 3:26Speaker 1: Russell's eyes will come down. He's getting hit a bunch
- 3:28Speaker 1: of It's just hard to function as an offense when
- 3:30Speaker 1: you're behind the sticks. And honestly, man, so you go,
- 3:34Speaker 1: the pick six happens, and that happens. It makes it
- 3:37Speaker 1: a thirteen three game. The Seahawks answer right away, So
- 3:40Speaker 1: you're like, okay, we're back in. This is thirteen ten.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Now I'm gonna start by saying this. Obviously it's a
- 3:45Speaker 1: team loss, right, it's a team loss on offense, team
- 3:47Speaker 1: offs on defense, Speial seems everything defensively, they didn't play
- 3:51Speaker 1: amazing on Saturday, but they're not the reason they lost
- 3:55Speaker 1: this game. But the one thing I will say about
- 3:57Speaker 1: the defense, which is the most disappointing to me in
- 3:59Speaker 1: terms of the whole game, was when it was thirteen
- 4:01Speaker 1: to ten, three forty three left in the half third
- 4:04Speaker 1: and nine for the Rams, and then they hit Acres.
- 4:08Speaker 1: He rolls out, he probably gets the first down. Okay,
- 4:10Speaker 1: we live to play another down, miss tackle. He goes
- 4:12Speaker 1: for forty four. Next play, Acres right in the hole,
- 4:16Speaker 1: miss tackle, another explosive twenty yards, next play offside, next play,
- 4:21Speaker 1: walk in touchdown. That was way too easy. Jumps back
- 4:24Speaker 1: up to ten points. And when you're playing the Rams,
- 4:26Speaker 1: you can't be down ten and it's it's frustrating because
- 4:28Speaker 1: you know our playmakers are there and we just didn't
- 4:30Speaker 1: make the plays on that drive. Other than that, the
- 4:32Speaker 1: defense was rock solid. There's a couple of plays they
- 4:34Speaker 1: gave up. Jamal was hampered by his shoulder. There's another
- 4:38Speaker 1: kind of golf throws a duck up the Jared Goff
- 4:41Speaker 1: and Adams can't can't find a way to make a play.
- 4:43Speaker 1: So those are the plays that the defense gave up.
- 4:45Speaker 1: It was just frustrating in that moment. They can come
- 4:48Speaker 1: up with a stop because after that they shut the
- 4:49Speaker 1: Rams down in the third quarter and gave our offense
- 4:51Speaker 1: all the chances in the world. We just couldn't convert.
- 4:54Speaker 1: That's the thing. The offense had their chances, they just
- 4:56Speaker 1: seem to out of sync. Let me look at the
- 4:58Speaker 1: past game. Everything's ten fifty yard down the field. Talk
- 5:00Speaker 1: to Pete Carroll earlier. He agreed there should be more
- 5:02Speaker 1: a quick game going on there. And this the Rams
- 5:05Speaker 1: offense played better than the Seahawks offense. And that was
- 5:08Speaker 1: with a backup quarterback and a quarterback with a jacked
- 5:10Speaker 1: up thumb. They went. They had drives a fifty eight yards,
- 5:13Speaker 1: fifty four, seventy fifty two, thirty six. The Hawks had
- 5:17Speaker 1: drives of seventy nine seventy six. Then everything after that
- 5:21Speaker 1: was twenty five yards in less. It just couldn't get gone.
- 5:23Speaker 1: There was no rhythm. Pete said he'd liked the way
- 5:25Speaker 1: they ran the football. I would love to see Chris
- 5:28Speaker 1: Carson being there on third and short. I asked Pete
- 5:30Speaker 1: about that. I goo, was there a rotation that happens?
- 5:31Speaker 1: I'm third and short. I wanted Chris Carson in there.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Behind was in there. He believes in Carlos Hide. They
- 5:36Speaker 1: believe in Carlos Hide. They believe they have two running
- 5:38Speaker 1: backs that can get it done in any situation. It
- 5:41Speaker 1: was just a game that didn't seem right from the jump.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Three and outs to start. I believe they had back
- 5:46Speaker 1: to back three and outs. I want to say yes,
- 5:48Speaker 1: back to back three and outs and just couldn't get
- 5:50Speaker 1: a flow going. Like you mentioned, there was a second
- 5:52Speaker 1: and thirty four, second and thirty four. They had three
- 5:56Speaker 1: consecutive penalties at one point. When you do that, I
- 5:59Speaker 1: think as an off she starts second guessing yourself. I mean,
- 6:01Speaker 1: DK's on the sideline yelling that, guys. We never see
- 6:04Speaker 1: that out of DK. He's usually pretty composed when he's
- 6:06Speaker 1: on that sideline. It just there was no flow to
- 6:09Speaker 1: this offense. But we can't ignore that. The Rams that's
- 6:12Speaker 1: a good football team. Yeah, no question. That's the number
- 6:15Speaker 1: one defense in the league for a reason. Leonard Floyd
- 6:18Speaker 1: has what how many sacks against the Hawks year seven? Seven?
- 6:20Speaker 1: Sacks against the Hawks this year. Aaron Donald showed up
- 6:23Speaker 1: early two early sacks in the game. He had his
- 6:25Speaker 1: best game this year against the Seahawks. Ramsey was everywhere
- 6:29Speaker 1: Darius wins. You cannot sleep on the Rams. Give them
- 6:32Speaker 1: their respect. They're a good football team, they're well coached.
- 6:35Speaker 1: They came to play today. Now we're gonna talk about playmakers.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Let's do it. Playmakers time, playmakers, all right, man. I
- 6:53Speaker 1: mean the list isn't as long as you typically like,
- 6:57Speaker 1: and that's reflective with the game played out on today.
- 7:00Speaker 1: We'll start with Chris Carson. He had sixteen carries for
- 7:02Speaker 1: seventy seven yards. And the fuss rating thing about Chris's
- 7:05Speaker 1: game was I felt like there was times where he
- 7:08Speaker 1: was getting stuff done was successful for a couple of
- 7:10Speaker 1: times where we'd get a ten yard run here and
- 7:12Speaker 1: eight yard run there, and we'd get him third and
- 7:14Speaker 1: short and we couldn't figure it out whether you decided
- 7:17Speaker 1: to pass instead of run on third down, or whether
- 7:19Speaker 1: you know, we had another penalty or whatever it was.
- 7:22Speaker 1: We just weren't able to utilize him enough. The thing
- 7:25Speaker 1: that for me, Chris never had a game over twenty
- 7:27Speaker 1: carries this season, not one time. He missed some time
- 7:30Speaker 1: earlier in the year, but he never had a game
- 7:32Speaker 1: with twenty carries. And I understand how well we were
- 7:34Speaker 1: throwing the ball around the year. As Pete said this morning,
- 7:37Speaker 1: you know they didn't have to run the ball at
- 7:38Speaker 1: the beginning of year. It didn't matter because we were
- 7:39Speaker 1: so explosive offensively and the difference us early in the year.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Chris Carson was a factor in the past game, so
- 7:45Speaker 1: it made sense. Still, you still felt him in the game.
- 7:49Speaker 1: He was effective. I kind of like you mentioned, I
- 7:51Speaker 1: wish I would see him little bit more on third
- 7:53Speaker 1: downs and just more of an opportunity, especially because of
- 7:55Speaker 1: how well the Rams were playing against us and taking
- 7:59Speaker 1: everything away. Um, I felt like there's a couple more
- 8:01Speaker 1: opportunities to get Chris involved. But he did what he
- 8:04Speaker 1: could in the game, and it was one of our
- 8:06Speaker 1: best players on offense. Yep, another playmaker, DK Metcalf had
- 8:10Speaker 1: five receptions for ninety six yards and two touchdowns. Kind
- 8:14Speaker 1: of kind of deceiving stats a little bit. I mean,
- 8:16Speaker 1: he did have an okay game. He scored a fifty
- 8:18Speaker 1: one yard touchdown. They're gonna look at later. His touchdown
- 8:21Speaker 1: second touchdown was late in the game. But he did Okay,
- 8:25Speaker 1: this was his best game against the Rams this year.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Jayla Ramsey has done a good job. I mean every
- 8:31Speaker 1: cash at DK may there were defenders right there. There
- 8:35Speaker 1: was no shaking loose, wide open spaces. He had to
- 8:38Speaker 1: make contested catches and he did exactly that. Nice way
- 8:42Speaker 1: to finish off your second year. You're you're a Pro Bowler,
- 8:45Speaker 1: second team All Pro. Ten touchdowns over thirteen hundred yards.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I mean, this guy had a great season. Somebody you
- 8:52Speaker 1: look to build off of that for next year. And
- 8:54Speaker 1: the thing about DK's game two bump, which is really
- 8:56Speaker 1: if IF on that third down, I believe it was
- 8:59Speaker 1: if he connects with if Russell Wilson finds DK overthrew
- 9:02Speaker 1: him a little bit because number ninety nine Aaron Darnold
- 9:05Speaker 1: destroyed our game plan. He was when he was in
- 9:07Speaker 1: the game, he was not blockable. I don't care if
- 9:09Speaker 1: he was lined up against posted Acupoity Lewis, whoever it was,
- 9:13Speaker 1: he was unblockable. He kind of screwed up that game.
- 9:15Speaker 1: But on that play, because that's the first time, hey,
- 9:18Speaker 1: DK Ramsey Ramsey had him one on one and DK
- 9:21Speaker 1: cooked him, got by him. He was open. That was
- 9:22Speaker 1: gonna be another explosive play completely changes the game, But
- 9:25Speaker 1: in ninety nine screwed things up through things up up front,
- 9:29Speaker 1: gets the pressures Russell Wilson. Russell can't get into his
- 9:32Speaker 1: throw and set his back foot overthrow ZK And obviously
- 9:35Speaker 1: we didn't have it there, so disappointing. We might be
- 9:37Speaker 1: having a different conversation. He catches at now we're talking,
- 9:40Speaker 1: he's well over a hundred yards. Maybe the game breaks differently,
- 9:44Speaker 1: is what it is. But on the defensive side, bump
- 9:46Speaker 1: Wags man, I had to look at this again. I
- 9:48Speaker 1: was like, damn, sixteen tackles, sixteen, one sack when TfL
- 9:52Speaker 1: one QB hit in fifty four is playing through some
- 9:55Speaker 1: he got rolled up on like he heard his knee
- 9:57Speaker 1: a little bit and he was not gonna miss a snap.
- 9:59Speaker 1: He when the locker and came back out before that
- 10:02Speaker 1: half was even over. So it's good. He's see year
- 10:04Speaker 1: All Pro linebacker, seventh time in his career that he's
- 10:07Speaker 1: all Pro. Playlike it is on Saturday. B Wags doing
- 10:10Speaker 1: what he does next. Jaren Reiman five tackles, two sacks,
- 10:13Speaker 1: three tackles for loss, three QB hits. This guy's back
- 10:17Speaker 1: to the forum. We saw a couple of years ago
- 10:19Speaker 1: when he had ten sacks in the year, I believe
- 10:21Speaker 1: with eight and a half sacked. Jared ree battled through
- 10:24Speaker 1: some injuries as well. He was injured last week. He
- 10:26Speaker 1: was on the injury report for a little bit leading
- 10:28Speaker 1: up to this game. He finds a way to get
- 10:30Speaker 1: after the quarterback. This is a bright spot. I'm glad
- 10:32Speaker 1: and Jared Reid had his bounce back season. Last season
- 10:35Speaker 1: was a bit of a disappointment, but he missed some games.
- 10:37Speaker 1: He got a full season. Nice offseason. Jaran Reid did
- 10:40Speaker 1: this thing celebrating. You know, he's he's doing his thing
- 10:43Speaker 1: when he's making the money, rain with that paper with
- 10:48Speaker 1: his hands. So um, Jan Reeman another bright spot. We'll
- 10:51Speaker 1: see what they do with him. Let's look at these
- 10:52Speaker 1: receivers though the receiver round up. Like we mentioned, Deacon
- 10:56Speaker 1: had nine cats for ninety two touchdowns along and fifty
- 10:59Speaker 1: one Howder Lockett had two for twenty four. Great one
- 11:02Speaker 1: hand catch on the sideline. That catch is the game
- 11:06Speaker 1: in a nut show. You're gonna make a play, but
- 11:08Speaker 1: you're gonna have a defender right there on your hill.
- 11:10Speaker 1: So if you don't make that play. They're gonna make plays.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Tire Locket with a great play. Freddy Swain had one
- 11:15Speaker 1: cast for twenty eight. Carson had one for five, this
- 11:18Speaker 1: lee one for one yard, Demo one for one yard.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Hollister had five targets and no catches. This might have
- 11:26Speaker 1: been the worst game I've seen the Hollister play. He
- 11:28Speaker 1: dropped several footballs that he usually comes up with. He
- 11:31Speaker 1: just seemed a little off last on saturdaysh se Yeah,
- 11:34Speaker 1: it was tough man. And the thing when you look
- 11:35Speaker 1: at this receiver round up then things that jump off
- 11:37Speaker 1: to me is DK Metcalfs. Yeah, he had five receptions
- 11:40Speaker 1: ninety six yards, but he was targeted eleven times. Hyler
- 11:43Speaker 1: Lockett was only targeted four times in the game. And
- 11:45Speaker 1: like you said, Jacob Pollster, five targets, no receptions. It
- 11:50Speaker 1: was just tough man. Like you mentioned it, everything was hard.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Every single completion, everything the seats sid offensively was hard
- 11:58Speaker 1: to come by. And you're not gonna win many games
- 12:00Speaker 1: like that when when you only have a lessing completions
- 12:03Speaker 1: on offense, especially with Russell Wilson quarterback one hundred and
- 12:06Speaker 1: seventy four yards, it was it was a tough day
- 12:07Speaker 1: all around, and I think, um, that's what's really disappointing
- 12:10Speaker 1: because you look at that, and you look at our
- 12:13Speaker 1: offense and you see there's no way, despite hugg of
- 12:15Speaker 1: the Rams are that we should have eleven completions in
- 12:18Speaker 1: a football game. So just disappointing all around, very disappointing
- 12:22Speaker 1: at less break down. The biggest player for the Seahawks
- 12:25Speaker 1: on Saturday and Coaches Corner, DK metcasts fifty one yard touchdown.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Three receivers now left side. The Rams are gonna rush
- 12:32Speaker 1: four with a late blitzer coming rush has time, gotta
- 12:35Speaker 1: get rid of it. Look out now he's gonna throw.
- 12:37Speaker 1: He's got a man metcap MidCap, make a catch. Turn
- 12:41Speaker 1: fuck toutsdown, sayhawks holy catfish. Russell Wilson runs away from
- 12:48Speaker 1: a rush, throws a crossing body a perfect deep strike
- 12:52Speaker 1: to DK, who makes the catch and takes it in
- 12:55Speaker 1: a fifty one yard catch and run, And just like that,
- 12:59Speaker 1: the Sea back in the game thirteen to nine. Great
- 13:04Speaker 1: play right here by DK. It's an all script play.
- 13:06Speaker 1: The biggest play for the Hawks was an all script play.
- 13:08Speaker 1: What happens here is DK runs like a dig. Look
- 13:11Speaker 1: they're in the cover a too high look. There a
- 13:13Speaker 1: too high look. He runs inside that corner. That corner
- 13:17Speaker 1: bites inside. I believe it is a route by Hollister.
- 13:20Speaker 1: He jumps on him, so we baycase the flat, baycase
- 13:23Speaker 1: the flat. The safety flies downhill because he see that
- 13:26Speaker 1: Jacob Hollister is open, which leads that half of the
- 13:29Speaker 1: field open. That safety was supposed to cover that deep half.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Russell runs outside the pocket. DK flips his hips, runs
- 13:35Speaker 1: to the vacant area. Russell drops a dime right over
- 13:38Speaker 1: the shoulder. He scores a touchdown. At this point, I'm thinking,
- 13:42Speaker 1: Nasa Choby, we are back in the game. They're gonna
- 13:45Speaker 1: get it done. Yeah, disappointing, Like he said, biggest play
- 13:48Speaker 1: was off script. And then think about it too is
- 13:50Speaker 1: like he said, they're in a two high look, so
- 13:52Speaker 1: too high you cover too safety of deep half right,
- 13:54Speaker 1: So the corner, that's the thing. He runs inside. He
- 13:57Speaker 1: wants to jump. As DK runs inside, he kind of
- 13:59Speaker 1: tries to cut it underneath when th Russell breaks the
- 14:01Speaker 1: pocket because they were being so aggressive defensively, so this
- 14:05Speaker 1: jumped underneath and then the safety all he sees is
- 14:07Speaker 1: a wide open tight end. He didn't see anything else
- 14:09Speaker 1: the play breaks down, he gets he gets a little greedy,
- 14:12Speaker 1: and I think what happens and why he gets greedy
- 14:14Speaker 1: is earlier in the game, like a possession before they
- 14:16Speaker 1: get a pick six for jumping stuff. Right, So he
- 14:18Speaker 1: sees him out there in the flat. He starts saying, Hey,
- 14:20Speaker 1: well maybe I can get me a pick six, jumps
- 14:22Speaker 1: it for Bales on his deep half responsibility. DK gets
- 14:25Speaker 1: behind him, great flock at the risk by Russell Wilson
- 14:27Speaker 1: rolling to his rolling to his left, look the risk,
- 14:30Speaker 1: throwing back to d K on the right, and it's
- 14:33Speaker 1: a nice play by fourteen and it's the biggest play
- 14:35Speaker 1: of the game. Like you mentioned, I thought we were
- 14:36Speaker 1: back in it after that, and unfortunately just was not
- 14:39Speaker 1: to be for the Seahawks. Man. Just heartbreaking, heartbreaking, just
- 14:43Speaker 1: didn't work out. Typically, at least twelve times this year
- 14:47Speaker 1: were getting something called the Victor four Mason in the show.
- 14:50Speaker 1: But today the clock does rnt out and the season
- 14:52Speaker 1: is over a knee taking fire Huntley, They're just gonna
- 14:58Speaker 1: let the clock wind down, preach, not even gonna bother
- 15:00Speaker 1: taking that last time out. Yeah, this one hurt. This
- 15:06Speaker 1: one hurt. Painful, painful, painful, I'm on Twitter last night.
- 15:09Speaker 1: I had time last night. I'll just spawn to people
- 15:11Speaker 1: like crazy, I had some time because people are pointing
- 15:14Speaker 1: to finger out Russell saying that he needs to fire
- 15:16Speaker 1: Pete Carroll, get rid of everybody. Man. I get your
- 15:19Speaker 1: frustration at this point. Is not all on number three.
- 15:22Speaker 1: He does not call the plays, he does not come
- 15:24Speaker 1: up with the game plan. He may contribute end of
- 15:27Speaker 1: the day. It's on the coaches to call these plays
- 15:29Speaker 1: and come up with the game plan. So take some
- 15:30Speaker 1: heat off of him. Could he have perform better? Yes,
- 15:33Speaker 1: everybody on that team could have performed better, from receivers
- 15:36Speaker 1: to Lyneman to running backs, the defense. Everyone could have
- 15:39Speaker 1: done better. It hurts, especially when you beat this team
- 15:42Speaker 1: in the Rams a couple of weeks prior twenty to nine.
- 15:45Speaker 1: They came out, they seem more prepared, They seem like
- 15:47Speaker 1: they wanted this morn. Yeah. No, it's stuff, and they're
- 15:50Speaker 1: just more physical straight up in the trenches on both
- 15:52Speaker 1: sides of the ball. They're more physical upfront. We had
- 15:54Speaker 1: no answer for their defensive line none. I mean, even
- 15:58Speaker 1: when Donald went out, they were still getting out first.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Whether it's Gains or Floyd or whoever, it was Brockers.
- 16:03Speaker 1: I mean they were there. They're interface all game long,
- 16:06Speaker 1: and that's the tough part because this team is physical.
- 16:09Speaker 1: This team has not people around. This team has shown
- 16:11Speaker 1: what they can do offensively that they could win any
- 16:13Speaker 1: type of ball game. But you know, they think they
- 16:16Speaker 1: didn't happen. It didn't happen. And it's so disappointing, like
- 16:19Speaker 1: I said, because we want twelve games this year, man,
- 16:20Speaker 1: and it's tough to You can't look at this year
- 16:23Speaker 1: as a complete failure. It's just disappointing because they had
- 16:26Speaker 1: the horses to do it. They were a twelve win
- 16:28Speaker 1: football team and some wo me done five times in
- 16:30Speaker 1: franchise history. And I heard kJ Wright talking yesterday on
- 16:33Speaker 1: locker clean out day and he's just like I thought,
- 16:36Speaker 1: this was our best chance since twenty fourteen to get
- 16:39Speaker 1: back to the super Bowl. And I agree with him.
- 16:41Speaker 1: We had the horses to do it. Um. So just
- 16:44Speaker 1: it's disappointing. But on the positive, man, this team won
- 16:47Speaker 1: the division. Hadn't done that since twenty and sixteen. They
- 16:50Speaker 1: battled through a pandemic. There was no positive tests on
- 16:53Speaker 1: this football team all year long. They did everything they
- 16:55Speaker 1: had to do, so man, it's it's disappointing, but a season,
- 17:00Speaker 1: not a failure. That a lot of great things happened
- 17:02Speaker 1: this year. It just just a hard pill to swallow
- 17:05Speaker 1: right now, so more positive. Russell Wilson breaks his own
- 17:08Speaker 1: franchise record. When it comes to touchdowns. Tyler Lockett has
- 17:10Speaker 1: one hundred receptions. Beat Steve Largen's record. I mean, not
- 17:13Speaker 1: set Steve Lars bobbing. I'm sorry, Bobby mentor love you baby,
- 17:18Speaker 1: m DK yards. That's Steve largest record that he beat
- 17:22Speaker 1: as far as single receiving yards. Man. Yeah, an offense
- 17:26Speaker 1: that was one of the best in league at one point,
- 17:28Speaker 1: you have a defense that was one of the worst
- 17:29Speaker 1: at one point. That defense climbed his way back up
- 17:32Speaker 1: to I believe twenty first or twenty second in the league.
- 17:34Speaker 1: You had Jamal Adams who set a record for dbs
- 17:37Speaker 1: and sacks. Jared Reid had a good year. Alton Robinson
- 17:40Speaker 1: was like third or fourth in the league when it
- 17:42Speaker 1: comes to rookies and sacks. Jordan Brooks looks like he's
- 17:45Speaker 1: the future of this football team. And they were twelve
- 17:47Speaker 1: and four, They won a division and lost to a
- 17:50Speaker 1: very good football team. It hurts, It stings but this
- 17:53Speaker 1: franchise is moving in the right direction. Of course, they're
- 17:56Speaker 1: gonna move some things round, They're gonna make some adjustments.
- 17:59Speaker 1: That's football. This ain't gonna be the same team next year.
- 18:01Speaker 1: But for the most part, I expect the names that
- 18:03Speaker 1: I just mentioned to be on the field. Yeah. No,
- 18:06Speaker 1: like you said, we have you know, Russell's gonna be back. Yeah, Bobby,
- 18:09Speaker 1: you got Jamal we add a dun lab Jay Reid.
- 18:12Speaker 1: There's gonna be decisions, and tough decisions are gonna be made.
- 18:15Speaker 1: It's it's gonna be There's gonna be some really uncomfortable
- 18:17Speaker 1: conversations here the next couple of months. You know, kJ
- 18:20Speaker 1: Wrights a free agent, she killed Griffins a free agent
- 18:21Speaker 1: because Carson's a free agent. So there's gonna be some
- 18:24Speaker 1: difficult decisions. But the core of this football team will
- 18:26Speaker 1: be intact. There's a lot to look forward to. This
- 18:29Speaker 1: a young, young football team with a lot of promising talent.
- 18:32Speaker 1: We had all the Pro Bowlers, we had all the
- 18:34Speaker 1: All pros, So the future is right Seattle. I know
- 18:38Speaker 1: it is hard to think positively right now because of
- 18:42Speaker 1: how fresh this wound is, because it just happened and
- 18:44Speaker 1: we all feel like we'll still be playing. The guys
- 18:46Speaker 1: in locker room feel like they still be playing. The
- 18:47Speaker 1: coaching staff feels like they still be playing. Unfortunately they're not.
- 18:51Speaker 1: But looking ahead to next year, this team has a
- 18:54Speaker 1: ton of talent. The NSC West is gonna be ultracompetitive
- 18:57Speaker 1: once again. But they're gonna get start over combine coming up,
- 19:02Speaker 1: draft coming up, and you know they're gonna retool and
- 19:04Speaker 1: get some new guys and try to resign guys. And
- 19:06Speaker 1: John Snyder and Pete Carroll are out there and they're
- 19:09Speaker 1: gonna do what we need to do and and honestly,
- 19:10Speaker 1: bump golly man, this team is in that window where
- 19:17Speaker 1: they should be competing for Super Bowls again, and they
- 19:19Speaker 1: have the guys to do it. I just hope that
- 19:21Speaker 1: next year, another step from DK, you know, another step
- 19:24Speaker 1: from Tyler, another step from Russ, another set from this
- 19:27Speaker 1: defensive unit to start the year like we thought they
- 19:30Speaker 1: would and play like it from start to finish. There's
- 19:32Speaker 1: lots of potential, a lot of things look forward to
- 19:34Speaker 1: Darryl Taylor. Pete Carroll said that he might have might
- 19:37Speaker 1: have played this week and he was looking great in practice.
- 19:39Speaker 1: He's a guy who used a second around pick On,
- 19:41Speaker 1: so we're looking for him and then everyone take another
- 19:43Speaker 1: additional step. Call, You're take another step. Penny come back healthy.
- 19:46Speaker 1: So there are guys there, bump It's hard to be
- 19:50Speaker 1: positive right now. I get it. Another twelve one season,
- 19:53Speaker 1: the Seahawks will be back better than ever. And man,
- 19:56Speaker 1: it's just it's just a it's hard right now, but
- 19:58Speaker 1: the future is bright. It's hard hanging there. We need
- 20:02Speaker 1: all those guys coming back. Make sure and hopefully you
- 20:04Speaker 1: the twelves all right, lumin Field, because you're gonna count
- 20:07Speaker 1: for at least two or three wins if that does
- 20:10Speaker 1: go down for the last time this year, folks, I
- 20:13Speaker 1: am Michael Bumpus. That's my guy, NASA Choby Hawk Talk recap. Unfortunately,
- 20:18Speaker 1: the Hawks lose to the Rams thirty to twenty Wild
- 20:22Speaker 1: Card weekend. Hey, now we reload, we regrouped, get to
- 20:27Speaker 1: the draft, and we'll do it all again twenty twenty one.
- 20:30Speaker 1: I'm already anxious. Let's get her done. Thanks for listening
- 20:32Speaker 1: all year. We appreciate y'all. Have a good one.
