Speaker 2: calling you here to talk about this morning. Rob James,
• 1:54
Speaker 2: Good morning, sir, welcome to the show. Hey, good morning,
• 1:57
Speaker 2: thanks for having me, Thank you for beeter tell us
• 1:58
Speaker 2: about this event. Well we got this is this is
• 2:01
Speaker 2: actually this is the tenth Celtic calling. I think it's
• 2:05
Speaker 2: been going on for I think we might have skipped
• 2:07
Speaker 2: one one during the pandemic. So say everybody skipped COVID
• 2:10
Speaker 2: didn't count tenth anniversary.
• 2:12
Speaker 4: Let's say tenth anniversary. So this is a tenth Celtic calling.
• 2:16
Speaker 4: And it is more or less a week long event.
• 2:19
Speaker 4: We get started on Wednesday, and we have events and
• 2:22
Speaker 4: things like that going on all throughout the week. Great stuff.
• 2:26
Speaker 4: We've got stuff for kids. We've got you know, we
• 2:30
Speaker 4: we have kids games, things like that, and then we
• 2:32
Speaker 4: have like even up to late night concerts and things
• 2:35
Speaker 4: like that for adults and everything like that. So we have,
• 2:41
Speaker 4: for example, Wednesday, we're kicking off. There's gonna be no
• 2:45
Speaker 4: that's this Wednesday. This Wednesday, Wednesday, Okay, Wednesday. Absolutely, there's
• 2:48
Speaker 4: gonna be a movie at the Florally, the Florally Hark
• 2:53
Speaker 4: Cohen Cinema. There's a jam session at the bears Den,
• 2:58
Speaker 4: and then coming up after that, we've got things going on.
• 3:02
Speaker 4: We've got what's called a Kayley Dance, which is kind
• 3:05
Speaker 4: of like a called dance, kind of like a square dance,
• 3:08
Speaker 4: and that's that's taking place on Friday. Everything is available
• 3:11
Speaker 4: on Facebook. There is way too much on the schedule
• 3:14
Speaker 4: for me to mention be here to like, you know,
• 3:16
Speaker 4: untill noon, that'd be your whole show. Yeah, it'd be
• 3:19
Speaker 4: and everybody would be bored out of their minds. It'd
• 3:21
Speaker 4: be great. But the main thing is. The main thing
• 3:25
Speaker 4: is Saturday, we're gonna have We're gonna take over slack
• 3:28
Speaker 4: Plaza and we're gonna have Celtic events. Like I said,
• 3:31
Speaker 4: We're gonna have kids games, crafts for the kids. We're
• 3:35
Speaker 4: gonna have music, We're gonna have dancers, like traditional Celtic dancing,
• 3:41
Speaker 4: things like that, and that is going to be all
• 3:44
Speaker 4: day at slack Plaza, and we're going to cap it
• 3:46
Speaker 4: off with a parade at four o'clock and everything at
• 3:51
Speaker 4: slack Plaza. By the way, everything at slack Plaza is
• 3:53
Speaker 4: free of charge. Celtic Calling is a nonprofit, so we
• 3:55
Speaker 4: don't charge anybody for anything. There might be some concerts
• 3:58
Speaker 4: that happen in bars in the evening that will cost money,
• 4:03
Speaker 4: but typically if you come down on Saturday and you
• 4:06
Speaker 4: mentioned seventy five degrees in sunny, right, yeah, looks like
• 4:09
  Speaker 4: that's what we're gonna have.
• 4:10
  Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I've said that that's been a running
• 4:13
Speaker 2: joke because of this winter, as bad as it's been.
• 4:17
Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean I'm looking ahead, you know, right
• 4:20
  Speaker 2: now you're looking at I think there's a chance of
• 4:23
Speaker 2: rain on Saturday, but it's a forty percent chance, yeah,
• 4:25
Speaker 2: which means sixty percent chance that it won't and it's
• 4:27
Speaker 2: going to be seventy eight.
• 4:29
Speaker 4: Yeah, it's going to be great, seventy eight and maybe
• 4:32
Speaker 4: Sonny sixty percent chance of son Yeah. That Yeah, that's
• 4:35
  Speaker 4: a good.
• 4:36
Speaker 2: Talk about your involvement in this rob how'd you get
• 4:38
Speaker 2: involved this whole thing?
• 4:40
Speaker 4: Well, I Celtic Calling used to be kind of a
• 4:44
Speaker 4: subsidiary of foot Mad, and I got involved because it
• 4:49
Speaker 4: needed to be its own thing, So I established the nonprofit.
• 4:53
Speaker 4: I've got a little bit of an accounting experience and
• 4:55
Speaker 4: background in the accounting field, and we established a nonprofit.
• 4:59
Speaker 4: I think it was five years ago, and since then
• 5:03
Speaker 4: it's kind of it's taken off to the point where
• 5:05
Speaker 4: we're taking over downtown Charleston and I love it. I
• 5:09
Speaker 4: you know, I'm just kind of the guy that makes
• 5:11
Speaker 4: the trains run on time, but I do. I enjoy it,
• 5:14
Speaker 4: and I think we do a great job just bringing
• 5:17
Speaker 4: this to Charleston. It's it's a pleasure to bring something
• 5:19
Speaker 4: to Charleston that is free for the most part, other
• 5:24
Speaker 4: than like some of the concerts, but it's a pleasure
• 5:27
Speaker 4: to bring something to Charleston that's just a big event
• 5:29
Speaker 4: for folks to do that that brings a lot of
• 5:32
Speaker 4: Celtic culture out. The movies. The movie is great, the
• 5:36
Speaker 4: dances are great. We love the music. We're gonna have
• 5:40
Speaker 4: a band called Kinfolk and they're gonna be playing on
• 5:44
Speaker 4: the main stage at Slack on Saturday. We're gonna have
• 5:46
Speaker 4: a band called House of Hammel that's gonna be playing well.
• 5:50
Speaker 4: They're also they're gonna be playing on the main stage
• 5:52
Speaker 4: and they're also gonna be playing at the what do
• 5:56
Speaker 4: you call it now, the Resurrection Church Theater at twenty
• 5:59
Speaker 4: three Summer Street. They're going to be playing through the
• 6:02
Speaker 4: organization foot Mad at seven thirty. It's the concerts takes
• 6:07
Speaker 4: place at seven thirty, so seven thirty, get there at
• 6:10
Speaker 4: seven and that you have to get tickets for. But
• 6:13
  Speaker 4: it's always a good time. It's always a great crowd.
• 6:17
Speaker 4: At the end of Celtic Calling, a band called father
• 6:20
Speaker 4: Son and Friends is also going to be calling it,
• 6:22
Speaker 4: going to be playing at Short Story on Saturday night,
• 6:26
Speaker 4: so all kinds of stuff going on, and I just,
• 6:29
Speaker 4: you know, essentially, I get cornered at a party. Somebody's like, hey,
• 6:34
Speaker 4: you know about accounting stuff, and I'm like, uh yeah.
• 6:38
Speaker 4: And so one thing led to another, and five years later,
• 6:42
Speaker 4: here we are growing every year and excited to bring
• 6:46
Speaker 4: it to you talking.
• 6:47
Speaker 2: About Celtic Calling again. Rob James is with us for
• 6:50
Speaker 2: Dave Allen showing five eighty Live is brought to you
• 6:52
Speaker 2: in part by Pinnacle Consultants help me to identify environmental
• 6:55
Speaker 2: concerns as best just led mold and indoor quality issues
• 6:57
Speaker 2: and buildings all across the state provide inspections, testing and
• 7:01
Speaker 2: accredit to lab services. You could try to check out
• 7:03
Speaker 2: Pinnacle Corp dot net helping you understand your environment because
• 7:06
Speaker 2: what you don't know can hurts you. Talk about the
• 7:08
Speaker 2: popularity of this thing, because I mean it's huge. It's
• 7:10
Speaker 2: one of the bigger events that Charleston has. And I've
• 7:14
Speaker 2: been doing the show for almost six years now and
• 7:16
Speaker 2: every year I have somebody on to talk about it.
• 7:18
Speaker 2: I mean, this thing has really you know, I mean
• 7:21
Speaker 2: it was always always a big party, big celebration, but
• 7:23
Speaker 2: it's really grown a lot over the years.
• 7:27
Speaker 4: It has it. It seems like it seems like every year,
• 7:31
Speaker 4: if we can, we're adding something. It seems like that
• 7:33
Speaker 4: we're getting a lot more folks downtown. We're really excited
• 7:38
Speaker 4: about last year. I think it was we did it
• 7:42
Speaker 4: on March first. We do it on the first, essentially
• 7:44
Speaker 4: the first Saturday in March is what we build the
• 7:47
Speaker 4: festival around. And last Saturday in the last year it
• 7:50
Speaker 4: was I think thirty eight degrees in Wendy, which kind
• 7:53
  Speaker 4: of goes along.
• 7:54
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I know everybody wants it to be
• 7:56
Speaker 2: like it's going to be this Saturday Sunday in seventy eight,
• 7:58
Speaker 2: but for it's kind of like on Christmas man, you know,
• 8:01
Speaker 2: for for a little bit of an atmosphere that was
• 8:03
  Speaker 2: kind of cool.
• 8:03
Speaker 4: I guess it was very Scottish weather, That's what I'm saying.
• 8:07
Speaker 4: I think you could say. But we're as much as
• 8:11
Speaker 4: we love our tribute to the Scots, we're definitely looking
• 8:14
Speaker 4: forward to looking forward to having nicer weather and having
• 8:18
Speaker 4: more folks come on out and we're going to have
• 8:21
Speaker 4: crafters and vendors from from all around the state you know,
• 8:26
Speaker 4: local folks that produce things. We're gonna have our very
• 8:29
Speaker 4: famous T shirts for sale every most every event that
• 8:33
Speaker 4: leads up to Celtic Calling, like the kay Lee Dance
• 8:37
Speaker 4: on Friday night, we will have some T shirts available
• 8:39
Speaker 4: for sale because they go fast. People do love to
• 8:43
Speaker 4: get the T shirt. So if you want to get
• 8:44
Speaker 4: a T shirt, make sure that you're tending some of
• 8:46
Speaker 4: those earlier events and hopefully we can accommodate you. But
• 8:49
Speaker 4: if not, we'll have them first come, first serve Saturday
• 8:53
Speaker 4: at Slack Plaza. And we're you know, we're also we're
• 8:57
Speaker 4: excited for the parade. If you if if you like bagpipes,
• 9:02
Speaker 4: then this parade's for you. If you don't like bagpipes,
• 9:06
Speaker 4: I don't really know what to tell you because we
• 9:08
Speaker 4: got so many. Also, let me talk about something else,
• 9:13
Speaker 4: and it kind of there's a couple of things that
• 9:16
Speaker 4: kind of close the event, which is we have a
• 9:19
Speaker 4: play contest. We have playwrights from around the world and
• 9:24
Speaker 4: they submit plays and we have some wonderful local actors
• 9:29
Speaker 4: from Charleston that read these plays out and so and
• 9:34
Speaker 4: then we decide, you know, and then through judges a
• 9:37
Speaker 4: system of judging, we decide which one is the best play.
• 9:39
Speaker 4: But it's great, it's a good time. We have five
• 9:42
Speaker 4: different short plays and I encourage everybody to check that out.
• 9:46
Speaker 4: And also on Sunday we have something called Irish road bowling,
• 9:50
Speaker 4: which is and that takes place in Canall State Forest
• 9:53
Speaker 4: and Canah State four and so Irish road bowling is
• 9:57
Speaker 4: incredibly fun. I've the treasure, so I'm the guy that
• 10:01
Speaker 4: kind of makes sure that everybody gets paid and everything.
• 10:04
Speaker 4: All the money happens like it is, so on Saturday,
• 10:07
  Speaker 4: I'm pretty much that's what I'm doing. Last year, I
• 10:09
Speaker 4: think on Saturday I walked about fifteen miles just back
• 10:13
Speaker 4: and forth. But what I like to do, my Celtic
• 10:17
Speaker 4: calling is road bowling on Sunday and Irish road bowling
• 10:21
Speaker 4: essentially is what you're doing as you're taking the origin
• 10:24
Speaker 4: is the sport is that it was a cannon ball.
• 10:26
Speaker 4: That Irish soldiers being bored would take a cannon ball
• 10:31
Speaker 4: and kind of roll it up the street. So you're
• 10:34
Speaker 4: taking something that is about the shape and weight of
• 10:36
Speaker 4: a cannon ball, a small cannonball, now not like the
• 10:40
Speaker 4: big things. It's not fired movies, and you're taking it
• 10:44
Speaker 4: and you're doing it in teams and essentially you're bowling
• 10:48
Speaker 4: it underhand up of road and you're kind of trying
• 10:53
Speaker 4: to hit the curve of the road. That's why we
• 10:54
Speaker 4: do it in Kanawa State Forest is because it's a
• 10:57
Speaker 4: sort of a challenging experience, but not too challenging other
• 11:00
Speaker 4: than finding the ball. Sometimes that parts challenging because there's
• 11:04
Speaker 4: nothing but there's a lot of leaf cover out there.
• 11:07
Speaker 4: But so you take turns and teams throwing the balls
• 11:09
Speaker 4: up the road as far as you can. And it's
• 11:12
Speaker 4: kind of like golf. So whoever gets to you know,
• 11:15
  Speaker 4: I think it's like a mile, a mile, a mile
• 11:18
Speaker 4: and a half. Whoever gets there and the least number
• 11:19
Speaker 4: of throws wins, So it is you know, it's it's
• 11:25
Speaker 4: kind of like curling. You know, there was the curling
• 11:28
Speaker 4: craze of the Winter Olympics in that you know, you
• 11:31
Speaker 4: look at it and you think, oh, that's not that's
• 11:33
Speaker 4: not that about you can do that something anybody can do,
• 11:36
Speaker 4: and to some extent that is true, But to some
• 11:39
Speaker 4: other extent it's like you have to there is some
• 11:42
Speaker 4: some athleticism involved and if you're more athletic at it,
• 11:45
Speaker 4: then you're going to be better like curling. It's like
• 11:49
Speaker 4: that to kind of slide up the ice with a
• 11:52
Speaker 4: broom and do that in such a it's such a
• 11:56
Speaker 4: fast speed. Is amazing to me. And I think, well,
• 11:58
Speaker 4: you know, there's some athleticism involved there. But road bowling
• 12:01
Speaker 4: is kind of the same way. But it's not like
• 12:03
Speaker 4: that with Celtic Calling. We just have teams, we have
• 12:06
Speaker 4: everybody and you just come out. You have a good time.
• 12:08
Speaker 4: If you win, great, But the main part, the most
• 12:12
Speaker 4: fun part about road bowling is losing your ball in
• 12:14
Speaker 4: the woods and digging around for it for several minutes
• 12:19
  Speaker 4: to find it.
• 12:19
Speaker 2: All right, Rob, that's just one part of what's going on.
• 12:22
Speaker 2: Remind people where they can where they can learn more
• 12:24
Speaker 2: in the entire schedules. You said, it's way too much
• 12:26
Speaker 2: for us to go over here on the radio, but
• 12:29
Speaker 2: just remind people where they can look at the schedule.
• 12:31
Speaker 4: It is way too much. And I and we're really
• 12:33
Speaker 4: excited about everything that we have going on because it's
• 12:36
Speaker 4: gonna be downtown, it's going to be at the library,
• 12:39
Speaker 4: it's going to be at several different venues in Charleston.
• 12:41
Speaker 4: You can find it all. You can just search Celtic
• 12:43
Speaker 4: Calling on Facebook. I don't know if there's more than
• 12:46
Speaker 4: one out there, but if there is, just look for
• 12:48
Speaker 4: the one in Charleston, West Virginia's hard to find. Yeah,
• 12:50
Speaker 4: and the main post, the first post is pinned and
• 12:55
Speaker 4: there is. It's I think it's about the size of
• 12:59
Speaker 4: war and peace or some similar toll story novel. Some
• 13:04
Speaker 4: great Russian master wrote this, and it will go. It
• 13:08
Speaker 4: will take you all the way from I Actually, it'll
• 13:11
Speaker 4: take you all the way from Tuesday all the way
• 13:12
Speaker 4: up until Sunday. And if you look at it and
• 13:16
Speaker 4: you want to attend every event you want to celebrate
• 13:18
Speaker 4: Celtic culture, you will never run out of things to
• 13:20
Speaker 4: do because there is that much going on that's involved
• 13:25
  Speaker 4: with Celtic Calling.
• 13:26
Speaker 2: All right, Rob, I appreciate you being here. Man, Hey,

• 15:49
Speaker 2: until you're not until I kiddy, all right, let's get
• 15:54
Speaker 2: serious Iran. I know you were watching the events. Most
• 15:57
Speaker 2: of us woke up on Saturday morning. Uh and uh
• 16:01
Speaker 2: and and and saw in the barrage that happened in Iran.
• 16:04
Speaker 2: You're taking then we'll break it down from there.
• 16:06
Speaker 7: I'm in. I'm totally in. Okay, I think it was.
• 16:11
  Speaker 4: It was.
• 16:15
Speaker 7: I think it's less about weapons than it is about
• 16:20
Speaker 7: the regime change, right. I think it's and it may
• 16:25
Speaker 7: be pretty pretty lopsided.
• 16:28
Speaker 2: The question A lot of people are asking, though, Danny,
• 16:31
Speaker 2: and look, I think that even the most ardent Trump
• 16:34
Speaker 2: detractors and Democrats you know, would would nobody is going
• 16:39
Speaker 2: to argue with that regime going. I mean no one
• 16:42
Speaker 2: and everybody thinks that. You know, and Iran without a
• 16:45
Speaker 2: nuclear weapon is a good thing, okay, or without nuclear capabilities.
• 16:48
Speaker 2: We get that. But one of the one of the
• 16:50
Speaker 2: one of the criticisms has been why.
• 16:52
Speaker 7: Now the focus is still on Trump? I mean, Tim Kaine,
• 16:58
Speaker 7: you got people in Congress that are root for a
• 17:00
Speaker 7: Ran to lead, she'd she'd be rooting for Iran. Uh
• 17:06
Speaker 7: you you, I think it's why now? Why not now? Okay,
• 17:12
Speaker 7: all right, now that should be done now.
• 17:14
Speaker 2: Well, I mean, I think one of the one of
• 17:16
Speaker 2: the complaints, one of the criticisms again has been, you
• 17:21
Speaker 2: know when when the president uh did the previous action
• 17:25
Speaker 2: in Iran, I mean, he came out and said that
• 17:26
Speaker 2: the nuclear capabilities were obliterated. Okay, Well that turned out
• 17:30
Speaker 2: to be a little bit of an exaggeration because because
• 17:33
Speaker 2: they weren't completely they were set back, but oh they
• 17:36
Speaker 2: were set back tremendously. But to say that they were gone,
• 17:39
Speaker 2: I don't think was entirely truthful. But there's there are
• 17:43
Speaker 2: those that will say that. I even saw some online chatter,
• 17:50
Speaker 2: people referring this as the Epstein invasion, that he was
• 17:53
Speaker 2: doing this to basically to detract from the Epstein investigation
• 17:59
Speaker 2: or lack of and what's going to be probably disastrous midterms.
• 18:04
Speaker 7: Wag the dog. Yeah, I don't care. Yeah, it was
• 18:08
  Speaker 7: the right thing.
• 18:08
Speaker 2: Well, and you do have quite a bit of support
• 18:10
Speaker 2: from the people in the country too.
• 18:13
Speaker 7: I've been watching I've been watching videos since two o'clock
• 18:16
  Speaker 7: this morning.
• 18:17
Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I know, you texted me like I was
• 18:19
Speaker 2: asleep and you again, I wake up at four thirty
• 18:22
Speaker 2: this morning, and I've already had a texture of you,
• 18:24
Speaker 2: like at two thirty this morning, I watched.
• 18:26
Speaker 7: General Petraeus and he said that the key to this
• 18:32
Speaker 7: whole thing and what made it successful was it was
• 18:37
Speaker 7: a daytime hit your broad daylight. Yeah, and when they knew,
• 18:43
Speaker 7: I mean, we know everything they're doing. We have intelligence,
• 18:49
Speaker 7: and we know where the nuclear arsenal is.
• 18:54
Speaker 2: And I mean we were able to take out their
• 18:58
Speaker 2: leader at about forty other leaders in one two fell swoops.
• 19:02
Speaker 2: I mean we knew exactly, We practically knew what time
• 19:06
Speaker 2: of the day the guy went to the bathroom and
• 19:08
Speaker 2: where he was in the building we took out.
• 19:11
Speaker 7: We took out Akhmadano Jode and he was he was
• 19:15
Speaker 7: there at the American EMPC. He was one of the
• 19:19
Speaker 7: people that took us captive. He was twenty six years old.
• 19:23
Speaker 7: And then he went on to become president of Iran.
• 19:27
Speaker 7: And if people saw a picture of him, they might
• 19:30
Speaker 7: remember him. And he went to US Columbia and he
• 19:35
Speaker 7: went to Boston University. And at one of those schools
• 19:41
Speaker 7: they said, what what do you all do at homosexuals
• 19:44
Speaker 7: in Iran? He said, well, we don't any humus in Iran.
• 19:51
Speaker 7: And he's gone. He was part of the part of
• 19:54
Speaker 7: the group that got which made me feel real good.
• 19:58
Speaker 7: And we took out their forty top leaders. Now they
• 20:03
  Speaker 7: could replace them.
• 20:04
Speaker 2: Well, there was a succession plan already in for Haminae,
• 20:09
Speaker 2: because I mean he was eighty six years old. I
• 20:11
Speaker 2: mean he you know, so they already had a plan.
• 20:14
Speaker 2: I listened to a couple of I listened to an
• 20:16
Speaker 2: interview yesterday with one of their defense leaders who or
• 20:20
Speaker 2: their ambassad or something like that. And he was on
• 20:22
Speaker 2: a couple of news shows yesterday and look and he
• 20:24
Speaker 2: came out and said, look, we are we cannot attack,
• 20:26
Speaker 2: we cannot counter this on the United States. However, we
• 20:29
Speaker 2: can go after people in the region, we can go
• 20:32
Speaker 2: after embassies, we can go after whatever. And I just
• 20:34
Speaker 2: wonder in America if we are going to start to
• 20:37
Speaker 2: see because there's quite I mean there's outrage in America too,
• 20:44
Speaker 2: from a lot of folks loyal to Iran And then
• 20:46
Speaker 2: you you spent a lot of time in California. How
• 20:48
Speaker 2: many Iranians are in in Los Angeles.
• 20:50
Speaker 7: In they're Irvine there in Irvne, California, and they're all
• 20:54
Speaker 7: for They're all for Trump.
• 20:55
Speaker 2: They're Well, that's what I was going to say, because
• 20:57
  Speaker 2: just because they're.
• 20:58
Speaker 7: They're all they're all for the Crown rents. And the
• 21:01
Speaker 7: Crown Prince was on sixty minutes last night and I
• 21:05
Speaker 7: don't think he wants to go back over there, but
• 21:08
Speaker 7: I think he likes being in New York and live
• 21:11
Speaker 7: in the kind of lifestyle. But he said he'd be
• 21:13
Speaker 7: a transitional part of a government if they wanted him
• 21:19
Speaker 7: to be. But everybody holds up the Crown pictures of
• 21:23
Speaker 7: the Crown Prince. Now when I say the Crown Prince,
• 21:27
Speaker 7: I'm talking about the Shaw's son, and they're holding enough
• 21:31
  Speaker 7: signs because he's a symbol. He's a symbol of what
• 21:34
Speaker 7: they want, the kind of thing they want. They want
• 21:37
Speaker 7: a Western government, they want, they want it like it
• 21:42
Speaker 7: was when the show was there.
• 21:43
Speaker 2: Are you concerned as many are those that? I mean,
• 21:47
Speaker 2: it's not going to be as simple as just going
• 21:49
Speaker 2: in and doing I mean, look pretty dang simple on
• 21:51
Speaker 2: Saturday what we did. However, now Iran is firing and
• 21:55
Speaker 2: going after all these different countries. I mean have to
• 21:58
Speaker 2: well yeah, I me because they can't hit here. So
• 22:00
Speaker 2: I mean, are you you concerned this is going that
• 22:03
Speaker 2: this is going to bring into a greater greater.
• 22:05
Speaker 7: They're hitting. They're hitting the people that were involved in
• 22:09
Speaker 7: the Abraham Accords, which Jared Kushner put together. You a Bahrain,
• 22:16
Speaker 7: those common places. But here's the question I had. Okay,
• 22:20
Speaker 7: where's Saudi Arabia? Well, don't they send troops. The problem
• 22:25
Speaker 7: with the people in Iran is there's a Second Amendment.
• 22:30
Speaker 7: They don't have guns. That one guy that was on
• 22:33
Speaker 7: Steph knoppolos Uh, he said that they killed three thousand
• 22:39
Speaker 7: people because they were shooting at the Yeah, yeah, they
• 22:44
Speaker 7: don't have guns. How they gonna shoot anybody? They don't
• 22:47
Speaker 7: have guns. The people, the thugs have the guns, and
• 22:51
  Speaker 7: these are Savillians.
• 22:54
Speaker 2: Tex says, well, well, well, looks like Trump began a
• 22:56
Speaker 2: tax on Iran to distract from the Epstein files. Looked
• 22:59
Speaker 2: like American troops of already died as well alder protect pedophiles.
• 23:03
  Speaker 7: That's not true.
• 23:04
Speaker 2: Tex says, Yeah, we will see false flag attacks, attempts
• 23:08
Speaker 2: to cancel the midterms.
• 23:10
Speaker 7: That's not true. That's not going to happen. With my
• 23:14
Speaker 7: own personal opinion, the Republicans are going to lose the midterms,
• 23:19
Speaker 7: especially in the House the Senate. They've got a shot,
• 23:23
Speaker 7: They've got a shot and holding on. But it'll be close.
• 23:26
Speaker 7: Depends on Collins. I think they're going to lose North Carolina.
• 23:35
Speaker 7: Cooper will be its senator. Depends on Mitch McConnell's seat.
• 23:41
  Speaker 7: You know, Texas.
• 23:43
Speaker 2: I thought Trump was stopping wars. Now he's starting them.
• 23:46
Speaker 2: This is just a distraction from everything crashing down on him,
• 23:49
Speaker 2: the economy, Epstein, etc.
• 23:51
Speaker 7: Well that's what Tim Kaine says.
• 23:53
Speaker 2: And then we got a bunch of text about actually
• 23:56
Speaker 2: from one person. I appreciated it, but it's a lot
• 23:58
Speaker 2: of the same thing about because people said that the
• 24:01
Speaker 2: in certain people said that. Adam shiff said, this is
• 24:04
Speaker 2: that the president should not be able to do this
• 24:06
Speaker 2: without congressional approval. Someone sent me various things where Obama,
• 24:10
Speaker 2: Clinton and others had uh had had done similar things.
• 24:15
Speaker 7: He had, Yeah, he gave forty eight hours notice. He
• 24:20
Speaker 7: Fetterman said that he gave forty eight They got the
• 24:23
Speaker 7: Gang of eight or whatever it's called, that were notified
• 24:27
Speaker 7: about this. And SHIFT, Yeah, I guess SHIFT would one
• 24:32
Speaker 7: f hearings and uh, you know, can bring in witnesses
• 24:37
Speaker 7: and and and make it go through and then after
• 24:43
Speaker 7: a two month process, you know, pridiculous. We should have
• 24:49
Speaker 7: done what we did. I'm not a Trump backer. I mean,
• 24:57
Speaker 7: if you don't like Trump, okay, sorry with me.
• 25:00
Speaker 2: Because you don't know.
• 25:02
Speaker 7: But I like this.
• 25:04
Speaker 2: But Dave Island showing five dyline broad to you, parted
• 25:06
Speaker 2: by a Bridge Valley Community and Technical College. Visit Bridge
• 25:09
Speaker 2: Valley dot edu. Bridge Valley Community and Technical College. Your
• 25:11
Speaker 2: career starts here, all right, So we we lost some
• 25:14
  Speaker 2: American lives.
• 25:15
  Speaker 4: We knew that.
• 25:16
Speaker 2: The President said in his video that he did that
• 25:18
Speaker 2: there would be casualties. There are going to be there's
• 25:21
Speaker 2: gonna be more casualties. He said in one interview or
• 25:24
Speaker 2: one statement that he's thinking this is going to take
• 25:26
Speaker 2: four to five weeks. Most people familiar with the area
• 25:28
Speaker 2: say it's going to take a lot longer than that.
• 25:31
Speaker 7: Well, that's something my it's out of my that's out
• 25:35
  Speaker 7: of my Bailey Wick. I wouldn't I wouldn't know. I
• 25:39
Speaker 7: wouldn't think it would take that long.
• 25:41
Speaker 2: Well, it all depends on what I guess, what the
• 25:44
Speaker 2: operation is and what other countries get involved. I haven't
• 25:49
Speaker 2: heard a lot out of this day and he maybe
• 25:51
Speaker 2: you have you study this more than I do. Haven't
• 25:52
Speaker 2: heard a lot out of Russia. On this as as
• 25:54
Speaker 2: Putin released these statements.
• 25:56
Speaker 7: About this, they're opposed to it. Well, I know, but
• 25:59
  Speaker 7: I mean I didn't know I said something. They had,
• 26:01
Speaker 7: both them and China, and they'll say something in the
• 26:05
Speaker 7: United Nations. And Putin's got a lot of room to,
• 26:09
Speaker 7: you know, to criticize any other US for invading.
• 26:13
Speaker 2: A pot kettle color Black Texas Dave. Iran will never
• 26:17
Speaker 2: stop trying to get a nuclear weapon. With the current
• 26:19
Speaker 2: leaders Obama and Biden to be blamed for Iran's richest
• 26:22
Speaker 2: to support many of the terrorists around the world. Thank
• 26:25
Speaker 2: god we have a president that takes action against this
• 26:27
Speaker 2: evil leadership in Iran. Thank you, President Trump.
• 26:30
Speaker 7: That's what I'm talking about. And you know, here's the problem.
• 26:34
Speaker 7: Here's the big problem. We had an open border for
• 26:37
  Speaker 7: four years.
• 26:39
  Speaker 2: They're here.
• 26:41
Speaker 7: I mean, people can set up set up something nine
• 26:45
Speaker 7: to eleven cellar right here because they're in this country.
• 26:50
Speaker 2: How many Iranians are in this country though, I mean,
• 26:52
Speaker 2: I know we talked about you said Irvine, California area
• 26:55
Speaker 2: that you spend some time, but during that time, how
• 26:57
Speaker 2: many Iranians can Irvines were?
• 26:59
Speaker 7: John Airport is right and the only reason I know
• 27:02
Speaker 7: that because I was watching videos at two o'clock this
• 27:05
Speaker 7: morning and they said they called it the city where
• 27:10
Speaker 7: Ron is and they had all these people on the street,
• 27:14
Speaker 7: and I think it was there or one of these
• 27:17
Speaker 7: one of these cities where they said they had a
• 27:21
Speaker 7: Shia mosque supposed to be open to twelve wasn't open.
• 27:29
Speaker 7: And I mean, she is our enemy, not Sinny.
• 27:33
Speaker 2: It's it's always interesting to me, and it sometimes doesn't
• 27:36
Speaker 2: set well with others when they president, whether it is Trump,
• 27:39
Speaker 2: whether it's Bill Clinton, whomever, who didn't personally serve. And
• 27:45
Speaker 2: you know, I mean, casualties are part of war. We
• 27:47
Speaker 2: all know that, all right. But when President Trump, I
• 27:50
Speaker 2: saw some criticism from some people who said that he said, well,
• 27:54
Speaker 2: you know, they're going to be casualties. Yeah, from someone
• 27:57
Speaker 2: who didn't serve and someone who got out of servey,
• 28:01
Speaker 2: as did Bill Clinton. I'm being fair here, and sometimes
• 28:04
Speaker 2: that just doesn't set well with people.
• 28:06
Speaker 7: Doesn't set well with me. But but you know, the
• 28:10
Speaker 7: public elected this guy, and he's the commander in chief.
• 28:15
Speaker 7: There's a lot of things not to like there. Yeah,
• 28:17
Speaker 7: this draft dodger put his name on the Kennedy Center.
• 28:21
  Speaker 4: John F.
• 28:22
Speaker 7: Kennedy was a naval war hero. What business did he
• 28:26
Speaker 7: have a doing that or taking it over. They're going
• 28:30
Speaker 7: to close it. It won't reopen until he's gone.
• 28:33
Speaker 2: Texas Republicans have started another war that Democrats will be
• 28:36
Speaker 2: blamed for not ending properly or quickly enough.
• 28:40
  Speaker 7: Oh I don't, I don't. I don't agree with that.
• 28:43
Speaker 7: I think this is uh, this will be a count
• 28:48
Speaker 7: in Trump's impeachment when the Democrats take.
• 28:52
Speaker 2: Over the House and he will be impeached. I mean,
• 28:58
Speaker 2: oh yeah, yeah, Texas Dave mayor Danny has common sense
• 29:02
Speaker 2: about President Trump's leadership to take out the current leadership
• 29:04
Speaker 2: in Iran, the Anti America Democrat Party needs to get
• 29:08
Speaker 2: behind this. We need action in Iran.
• 29:10
Speaker 7: There are some Democrats center behind it.
• 29:13
  Speaker 2: Again, I don't know that. I don't know that anybody
• 29:15
Speaker 2: except the extreme left is going to say that this
• 29:19
Speaker 2: that that Iran is a that the world is a
• 29:21
Speaker 2: better place with Iran having access to nukes. I think
• 29:24
Speaker 2: even the most adamant, I mean, even the State Democratic
• 29:27
Speaker 2: Party I got a statement from them on Saturday said
• 29:29
Speaker 2: something to that. In fact, said, well, you know that
• 29:31
Speaker 2: they were criticizing the way that it happened, not that
• 29:34
  Speaker 2: it happened.
• 29:35
Speaker 7: That's because these people hate Trump. I don't like you
• 29:39
Speaker 7: me either, but I don't let that get in the
• 29:40
Speaker 7: way a good policy.
• 29:41
Speaker 2: Right, So switch gears here just for a moment before
• 29:45
Speaker 2: we let you go. Where are we on book news?
• 29:48
Speaker 2: What's the situation with the books?
• 29:49
Speaker 7: Well, there are seven of them at the library. You
• 29:53
Speaker 7: can't they're they're not available and there's sold out on Amazon.
• 30:01
Speaker 7: So hopefully the guy who does that will get with
• 30:06
Speaker 7: it on that. I watched another video this morning at
• 30:12
Speaker 7: about Caracas, Venezuela, and it was it's a Soviet style city.
• 30:24
Speaker 7: They had pictures free Maduro, they had pictures up of
• 30:29
Speaker 7: Sulimani of all people, and they had handshakes with Theron.
• 30:35
Speaker 7: I mean, it's a but having said all, it every
• 30:38
Speaker 7: every There wasn't a lot of traffic, you know, a
• 30:41
Speaker 7: lot of people, but everybody was nice to these people
• 30:45
Speaker 7: walking through. And the woman that was leading the group,
• 30:50
Speaker 7: they had two from England and the woman was from Russia,
• 30:55
Speaker 7: spoke perfect English. But everybody was nice to them. Everybody,
• 31:01
Speaker 7: and it's it's interesting to see what's gonna happen. See
• 31:05
Speaker 7: they still have two interior minister and one other minister
• 31:11
Speaker 7: that has a fifteen million dollar price on his head,
• 31:14
Speaker 7: and the other had a twenty five million dollar They
• 31:16
Speaker 7: were all part of the same drug, the drug business
• 31:21
Speaker 7: that Maduro was. They just couldn't catch it. They couldn't
• 31:24
  Speaker 7: get them all.
• 31:28
Speaker 2: Take us Texas. Dave, great to hear Danny on your program.
• 31:32
Speaker 2: He has a tremendous amount of historical knowledge to do
• 31:35
Speaker 2: the best. That's just the way to say. You're old, Danny.
• 31:37
Speaker 2: That's what that is.
• 31:38
Speaker 7: That's right. But I know he's right, but I study it.
• 31:41
Speaker 7: I urge people to buy the premium membership and YouTube
• 31:47
Speaker 7: seek and watch stuff without ah out commercials, and you'll
• 31:52

• 36:46
Speaker 2: Amy Schuler Goodwin is here whose father went through the
• 36:48
Speaker 2: same thing, and you're telling me, yeah, I may not
• 36:51
  Speaker 2: be here Friday.
• 36:52
Speaker 13: I mean, I think you know, this is what I think.
• 36:54
Speaker 13: And I've known you for many, many many years, is that?
• 36:59
Speaker 13: And just like my dad, just like members of my
• 37:01
Speaker 13: own family, just like you know, our listeners, we are
• 37:04
Speaker 13: a very resilient type of folk here in apple Eachi, right.
• 37:08
Speaker 13: If you grow up in West Virginia, just like me,
• 37:10
Speaker 13: you get up and you go to work. And sometimes
• 37:13
Speaker 13: I'm not sure that we always take care of our health.
• 37:17
Speaker 13: And while you are, I think sometimes we think, Okay,
• 37:20
Speaker 13: I'm getting it done and then let's move on. Takes
• 37:23
Speaker 13: a day or two. I mean, it just simply, it
• 37:25
Speaker 13: just simply does. And I know, but that's the mental
• 37:29
Speaker 13: you know, That's what I would say this, I would
• 37:32
Speaker 13: give this same advice if it were a child of
• 37:35
Speaker 13: mine or a parent of mine. I think that the
• 37:37
Speaker 13: older I have a birthday next Monday. But the older
• 37:41
Speaker 13: I get, the more I realize this is it. This
• 37:44
Speaker 13: is the time you have. There's no additional on the
• 37:47
Speaker 13: flip side. And work is important, but your health and
• 37:51
Speaker 13: recovery is just as important. This is speaking to somebody
• 37:54
Speaker 13: who rarely takes a day ever, but it.
• 37:59
Speaker 14: Is it is important, and we care about you.
• 38:02
Speaker 2: And plus I'm older than you, so.
• 38:04
Speaker 14: We have just medg I mean justice, I want to
• 38:07
  Speaker 14: I want.
• 38:08
Speaker 2: To ask you something real quick. We have a story
• 38:10
Speaker 2: posted about it online. It has to do with the ballpark.
• 38:12
Speaker 2: You guys are working on the lease with the ball
• 38:14
Speaker 2: with the with Goimart Ballpark.
• 38:15
  Speaker 14: Talking about that.
• 38:16
Speaker 13: So we were so delighted to have Andy Shehay come
• 38:20
Speaker 13: into our lives and the Charleston Dirty Birds many many
• 38:23
Speaker 13: years ago, because there was no baseball in the city
• 38:26
Speaker 13: of Charleston, and so when we got here, we just
• 38:30
Speaker 13: decided we needed to work with folks, and certainly we're
• 38:34
Speaker 13: making improvements to the ballpark. We want you know, the
• 38:36
Speaker 13: leases has been renewed and what we're trying to do
• 38:40
Speaker 13: is just add the things that we know, and the
• 38:43
Speaker 13: ownership is trying to the team. Ownership is trying to
• 38:45
Speaker 13: add the things that they believe that they need. Of course,
• 38:49
Speaker 13: it's a city facility, so we're trying to manage our
• 38:52
Speaker 13: budget and add the things that we can and also
• 38:54
Speaker 13: look forward because what we want out of this is
• 38:57
Speaker 13: a long term lease. Listen, the city of Charleston needs bay.
• 39:00
Speaker 13: We are going to have baseball. We just have to
• 39:02
Speaker 13: work out things in the lease. I'll say this to you.
• 39:05
Speaker 13: We've invested in the ballpark over the past couple of years,
• 39:08
Speaker 13: more than ever except when it was you know, built,
• 39:11
Speaker 13: and especially with the turf. It was a it was
• 39:13
Speaker 13: a massive project. And we continue to look at what
• 39:17
Speaker 13: are the things that they need to keep a team here.
• 39:22
Speaker 13: And so is it everything from netting to locker room.
• 39:26
Speaker 13: You know, by the way, it's not the lap of luxury.
• 39:29
Speaker 13: It's you know, simple things, but it's you know, it's
• 39:31
Speaker 13: important stuff like upgrading bathrooms and tiling and you know,
• 39:35
  Speaker 13: some new carpeting.
• 39:36
Speaker 14: It just things like that.
• 39:37
Speaker 13: Anytime you do a lease, and people who know run
• 39:40
Speaker 13: businesses understand this as well. You've got to make sure
• 39:43
Speaker 13: that the lease suits everyone. So those are just the
• 39:45
Speaker 13: things that we're working on. So we have an extension
• 39:47
Speaker 13: of this lease and looking at signing a lease in
• 39:50
Speaker 13: the future for a long term stay for them, because
• 39:53
Speaker 13: that's what we want Texas.
• 39:55
Speaker 2: Can you ask the mayor about I mean this will auditorium.
• 39:57
Speaker 2: They seem interested in making money and missing out the
• 39:59
Speaker 2: medium sized concerence. Every day that building sends empty and
• 40:02
  Speaker 2: continues dilapidate.
• 40:03
Speaker 13: No, we're not interested in losing money. I can promise
• 40:06
Speaker 13: you that right now. But what we want to do
• 40:09
Speaker 13: is do the right thing, not the quick thing. There
• 40:12
Speaker 13: is nobody that understands how much we're losing more than
• 40:14
Speaker 13: I do, maybe except for the management and OVG who
• 40:16
Speaker 13: we have managing the facilities for us. What we did
• 40:20
Speaker 13: last week is we had a great conversation with the
• 40:23
Speaker 13: Colisseum and Convention Center Board. They have a Municipal Auditorium Committee,
• 40:30
Speaker 13: three members of council, three members of the Colisseum and
• 40:33
Speaker 13: Convention Center Board, and they went over and listened to
• 40:37
Speaker 13: the findings of the ZMM group and the architects and
• 40:41
Speaker 13: engineers about the structure and the facility where it is
• 40:46
Speaker 13: right now, and then the charge of the board as
• 40:49
Speaker 13: directed by their chair woman is to also understand what
• 40:56
Speaker 13: other venues are like this across the country. What are
• 40:59
Speaker 13: the things that we can do with the current building,
• 41:03
Speaker 13: and what are the things that other cities of our
• 41:05
Speaker 13: size need. There is no mistake we need. As a
• 41:08
Speaker 13: matter of fact, I had a conversation this morning in
• 41:11
Speaker 13: eight thirty this morning with somebody who clearly understood the
• 41:15
Speaker 13: little theater at the Colisseum and Convention Center eight hundred
• 41:19
Speaker 13: ish super important, the Clay Center super important, size the
• 41:23
Speaker 13: coliseum and with the new seats, you know, ten eleven
• 41:27
Speaker 13: thousand folks you can fit in there. Actually probably a
• 41:29
Speaker 13: little bit more, but we are missing that and it
• 41:33
Speaker 13: served us well that thirty eight hundred, that thirty eight
• 41:39
Speaker 13: hundred mark to forty two hundred. So that's I think
• 41:42
Speaker 13: that's what the texture is referring to make no mistake
• 41:45
Speaker 13: about it. We understand how important it is, but we're
• 41:47
Speaker 13: also going to take our time. It's a massive investment,
• 41:50
Speaker 13: and this is something by the way, that is going
• 41:51
Speaker 13: to far outlive this administration and other sowing to make
• 41:56
Speaker 13: sure we do it right.
• 41:57
Speaker 2: I had some and again we're talking with the Charles
• 41:59
Speaker 2: Miami's good when we had some discussion the last couple
• 42:03
Speaker 2: weeks about the term moment thing. Yeah, in Charleston, a
• 42:05
Speaker 2: couple of city council folks reached out to me about coming,
• 42:08
Speaker 2: and then three more reached out to me about coming on.
• 42:10
Speaker 2: You want to state for the record where you are
• 42:12
Speaker 2: on the termin situations for mayor city council.
• 42:16
Speaker 14: Yeah, I'm super happy to.
• 42:17
Speaker 13: I'll go ahead that, and then I'll pivot to the
• 42:19
Speaker 13: thing I think we need to be talking about. I
• 42:22
Speaker 13: think this discussion, as it's come up very quickly from
• 42:27
Speaker 13: some is certainly an important discussion to have. We've been
• 42:31
Speaker 13: having this conversation for many years now, but it needs
• 42:35
Speaker 13: to be tied into I think the entire structure of
• 42:38
Speaker 13: city government. I think when you've had a city government
• 42:41
Speaker 13: that has been in place in this structure for one
• 42:44
Speaker 13: hundred years dave plus, you need to look at all
• 42:48
Speaker 13: of it, not just an office or an entity. I
• 42:52
Speaker 13: am opposed to a very large council.
• 42:56
Speaker 14: I just am. I always have been.
• 42:58
Speaker 13: But by the way, when we arted those discussions many
• 43:01
Speaker 13: years ago, we heard quite clearly from members of the public,
• 43:05
Speaker 13: including members of city council, know we want a representative
• 43:09
Speaker 13: government just for those who are listening, who may not know.
• 43:12
Speaker 13: We have twenty six members of council. It's the largest
• 43:14
Speaker 13: per capita in the country. Is it challenging? You better
• 43:17
Speaker 13: believe it, because, Oh, by the way, the thing I'm
• 43:19
Speaker 13: going to talk about here in just a minute, which
• 43:22
Speaker 13: is what we focus on just in the past week,
• 43:25
Speaker 13: as people are trying to shove things through and push
• 43:28
Speaker 13: things through. Oh, by the way, it's an election season.
• 43:30
Speaker 13: Go figure. We have to continue to run government. We
• 43:34
Speaker 13: have to continue to be focused on the things that
• 43:37
Speaker 13: we need to be focused on, like making sure the
• 43:39
Speaker 13: fire department has a new ladder truck, making sure that
• 43:43
Speaker 13: our police have the resources they need, our city employees,
• 43:46
Speaker 13: making sure there're salts on the road.
• 43:47
Speaker 14: So let me be very clear.
• 43:50
Speaker 13: While I am in favor of a smaller city council,
• 43:55
Speaker 13: I am not in favor for term limits for city council.
• 43:59
Speaker 13: I am just not. I think in a time and
• 44:00
Speaker 13: a space and a place that is so difficult to
• 44:03
Speaker 13: get people to run, by the way, it is not
• 44:06
Speaker 13: the lap of luxury. Public service is really really difficult. Nights,
• 44:10
  Speaker 13: weekends and holidays. I don't see my children, I don't
• 44:12
Speaker 13: see my husband. It's a really really hard thing to do.
• 44:16
Speaker 13: But I do believe in term limits for executive offices.
• 44:19
  Speaker 14: I do, yeah.
• 44:21
Speaker 13: And what they are across the country are they're three
• 44:23
Speaker 13: fours or two sixes. That's again I've studied this for years.
• 44:27
Speaker 13: I am in favor of that. But doing it, you know,
• 44:32
Speaker 13: piecemeal and not together looking at the entire structure, I
• 44:36
Speaker 13: think is just you know, trying to shove things down
• 44:39
Speaker 13: people's faces. The other thing will I will say to
• 44:41
Speaker 13: you is when you work with twenty six folks. We
• 44:43
Speaker 13: have twenty six council members. And by the way, that's
• 44:45
Speaker 13: not the directors, that's not I have seven hundred and
• 44:48
Speaker 13: fifty colleagues that we work with every day, and then
• 44:51
Speaker 13: our businesses and then out on tens of thousands. I
• 44:54
Speaker 13: think that it takes time. If you really want to
• 44:57
Speaker 13: do something monumental and you really want to make good chance,
• 45:00
Speaker 13: it actually takes time. It actually is the hardest thing
• 45:04
Speaker 13: that people do. I used to say this all the time.
• 45:06
Speaker 13: Senator Manchin used to say, I wanted to bring everybody
• 45:09
Speaker 13: and we're going to sit down at the table, both sides.
• 45:11
Speaker 13: And I remember hearing when he used to say that
• 45:13
Speaker 13: and thinking, well, that how hard is that?
• 45:17
  Speaker 14: It's hard?
• 45:18
Speaker 13: It's really, it's really challenging, and I think what people
• 45:20
Speaker 13: are realizing is really challenging to sit down with folks
• 45:25
Speaker 13: who may not agree with you, and maybe even some
• 45:27
Speaker 13: people who may not like you, and have a good
• 45:30
Speaker 13: and honest and upfront conversation.
• 45:33
Speaker 14: That's where we need to be heading.
• 45:34
Speaker 13: But these conversations do what I despise of the politics
• 45:40
Speaker 13: that creeps into public service. Tonight, I'm going to present
• 45:44
Speaker 13: a one hundred and thirty nine page, one hundred and
• 45:48
Speaker 13: thirteen point six million dollar budget. Shouldn't we be talking
• 45:52
Speaker 13: about that? Because I want to talk about that.
• 45:54
  Speaker 14: That's what we.
• 45:54
Speaker 13: Should have people be talking about and asking questions about,
• 45:57
Speaker 13: you know, what what are we doing to fun You know,
• 46:00
Speaker 13: the capital that we need to have.
• 46:03
Speaker 14: Our trucks are cars.
• 46:04
Speaker 13: Municipal government is the government that should be focused on
• 46:09
Speaker 13: public services to the people. We should be talking about
• 46:12
Speaker 13: trash collection. We should be talking about our fire department,
• 46:16
Speaker 13: our police department, all of public works. Those are our
• 46:20
Speaker 13: park and rec systems. You're going to hear me talk
• 46:22
Speaker 13: about that later on tonight. But what we are going
• 46:26
Speaker 13: to continue to focus on in this season and throughout
• 46:30

Speaker 2: more dirty Birds, baseball dot com. Mayor do we have
• 48:45
Speaker 2: any updates or anything that's happened with a couple things
• 48:48
Speaker 2: them all and also with the Capitol Sports Complex Big
• 48:53
Speaker 2: News made a couple of weeks ago, and I haven't
• 48:54
Speaker 2: had a chance to have you on since then. No, No,
• 48:58
Speaker 2: so Taco to talk about the Capital Sports Complex.
• 49:01
Speaker 13: First, well, Capital Sports Complex, as many of your listeners
• 49:06
Speaker 13: saw and through your reporting, through your outstanding news organization,
• 49:10
Speaker 13: we received yet another milestone step forward with the federal
• 49:16
Speaker 13: appropriation of seven million dollars thanks to Senator Shelley Mark
• 49:19
Speaker 13: Capitau and Senator Jim Justice. And so this is you know,
• 49:23
Speaker 13: these are the things that we are cheering certainly and celebrating,
• 49:29
Speaker 13: you betcha. But what people want to know is what's
• 49:32
Speaker 13: the date? Well tying into the mall, those conversations are continuing.
• 49:37
Speaker 13: You heard me say it just last month that we
• 49:40
Speaker 13: have been in discussions with the whole group about their
• 49:45
Speaker 13: interest in giving them all to us, and what does
• 49:51
Speaker 13: that look like and what does that look like for
• 49:55
Speaker 13: the city. Quite frankly, and what is the liability that
• 49:57
Speaker 13: we take on? And so we have start guarded developing.
• 50:02
Speaker 13: What is in essence the framework of a development organization?
• 50:08
Speaker 13: What does that look like, What do the mall assets
• 50:11
Speaker 13: go into? What other cities and communities have done this.
• 50:16
Speaker 13: It's a big undertaking. It's a huge undertaking. And you know,
• 50:20
Speaker 13: through the past year and a half when you ask
• 50:23
Speaker 13: for updates and you know you think I'm being cute
• 50:26
Speaker 13: or cooy not giving you a straight answer. Listen, if
• 50:28
Speaker 13: anybody is sitting here listening to well, the answer must
• 50:32
Speaker 13: be really simple. You probably don't understand how complex this
• 50:35
Speaker 13: problem really is. If you think that I have a
• 50:37
Speaker 13: magic want and can make it happen tomorrow, I will.
• 50:39
Speaker 13: This is what I want. I want that site to
• 50:41
Speaker 13: be developed to the best and highest use it can
• 50:44
  Speaker 13: possibly be.
• 50:45
Speaker 14: Is that the donation to the city. We think so.
• 50:48
Speaker 13: But if it's something else, I'm all ears, Oh by
• 50:50
Speaker 13: the way, I don't own it, and for me to
• 50:53
Speaker 13: take it would be imminent domain, and that opens up
• 50:56
Speaker 13: an entire can of worms for non development and negotiations
• 50:59
Speaker 13: for years and shut a lot of things down. So
• 51:02
Speaker 13: that's my answer to both of those questions.
• 51:04
Speaker 2: All right, real quick, Yeah, salt supply in the city.
• 51:06
Speaker 2: We got freezing rain rolling through this morning in certain areas.
• 51:10
Speaker 2: They tell us that we may be done with winter,
• 51:13
Speaker 2: but we've had some big snows in the past in
• 51:15
Speaker 2: March and April in our part of the world. Thirty seconds,
• 51:18
Speaker 2: where are we on salt supply in the city.
• 51:19
Speaker 13: Thank you so much. We've got salt on the ground.
• 51:21
Speaker 13: We have another order coming in. But let me not
• 51:24
Speaker 13: mistake is just like what I talked to you about
• 51:26
Speaker 13: the meat and potatoes of what we do. We are
• 51:29
Speaker 13: negotiating right now to have a couple more tons dumped
• 51:33
Speaker 13: on the ground, just in case. Do I think this
• 51:35
Speaker 13: might be our last one, you know, as we trickle in.
• 51:37
Speaker 13: But as I just said to you, my birthday is
• 51:39
Speaker 13: in a week. I have played golf on my birthday
• 51:41
Speaker 13: and I've gone skiing on my birthday, and so mother
• 51:45

• 51:47
