- 0:34Hey, welcome back. We are at episode 12 this week
- 0:40and we got everybody in here today.
- 0:43Bill, Josh, Mike myself. And yes, we're still talking
- 0:50about the serious wreck. That is Rex, Mike, how was your
- 0:55week in the first full week of this mini mail survey?
- 1:03My week's been good compared to others.
- 1:07Mine's been going real. Well.
- 1:11Josh. My week's been pretty good also.
- 1:19But then again, for the first time ever, because the numbers
- 1:23show up on the report for piece count, for my large company, I
- 1:31could get all zeros for all 12 days and still go up because
- 1:35they get A minimum of eight hundred letters per day, and I
- 1:42had one day, two weeks ago where they had 11,000.
- 1:46So, Well you know, all those W-2s emailed out, they are
- 1:52getting sent back to them for whatever reason people you don't
- 1:57change your addresses. You have back so if you haven't
- 2:01gotten your no, meow yeah, might want to check on that.
- 2:06That might not work if you don't have your apartment number on
- 2:10there. Yes, if you don't have the
- 2:12sufficient address on there, Yeah, I week went.
- 2:19All right, it was fairly smooth and the wreck side of things.
- 2:25We all had to wait around Thursday, because well, when the
- 2:29two clerks that are scheduled as one that's borrowed in one
- 2:32that's new. And neither one of them know the
- 2:36scheme and how to sort Flats in our office, we had a weight to
- 2:42the postmaster. Got there at 8:30 in the morning
- 2:45before we got any of our raw Flats.
- 2:51So we did a and she had to do the letters too so we all waited
- 2:56around quite a bit Thursday for that but then I was off this
- 3:01weekend, Friday, Saturday. It's pretty awesome.
- 3:06And Bill. How did your week go?
- 3:11Oh, it just went wonderful. We were short of people to count
- 3:17the stuff. We had carriers confused about
- 3:21what the counting their DPS, we have a schedule that is so
- 3:26screwed up. I think we have more people
- 3:28often coming in and other than that it was wonderful.
- 3:32I mean yeah it's just It's just amazing that the both of us
- 3:39could arrange such a wonderful clusterfuck for our Amusement.
- 3:44Oh I know right, can't make this shit up.
- 3:46Let's forget it was it was nice to escape the office for the
- 3:52weekend though, I will say that. Oh God, yes and I thoroughly
- 3:58enjoy. It was actually kind of a double
- 4:00event weekend for us some I've been attending right?
- 4:04Early the Motor City. Tattoo Expo over the Last few
- 4:07years. And so we went.
- 4:11We actually, we took my daughter with us this weekend this time
- 4:13around and but my boyfriend's son was wrestling in the state
- 4:19finals over the weekend. He actually played fit placed
- 4:215th for his way and division. So in Michigan, right?
- 4:27Yeah, for Michigan. Yeah.
- 4:29Well. Michigan division 2175 class.
- 4:33Yeah, he plays Fifth and And I got some new ink boyfriend.
- 4:39Got some new ink. And my daughter, got her first
- 4:44one. That was pretty big for a first
- 4:49one. Yeah yeah.
- 4:50See I thought she was gonna chicken out there first when we
- 4:53started mine because she's not one that can she is she can't
- 4:59sit still very long and she gets bored and your anxiety runs and
- 5:04so she patients why she doesn't have it but she actually sat
- 5:08there the whole time for the whole four and a half five
- 5:10hours, I was getting mine done. And one of the then way.
- 5:15Then got hers. A longer stick out two hours.
- 5:21So, she did you get, she only had a break once for a quick
- 5:25potty break and that was it. She's and that's why you wear
- 5:29Depends. Okay, that's one.
- 5:33I wear Depends. So, yeah, so that was exciting
- 5:38for her and then she was really thrilled because my favorite
- 5:42artists become like a good buddy.
- 5:45Now is from Ink Master season, 12 is Big Jazz and he brought
- 5:51elbow with him as well. I got to meet her last year so
- 5:54we were all just kind of hanging out during The Expo and Jazz did
- 5:59all three of our tattoos and so it was good time.
- 6:02We got to see some couple of the artists I hadn't seen in a
- 6:05couple years. It wasn't there last year and it
- 6:08was good to see the old friends and make some new ones this
- 6:12weekend. That's pretty cool.
- 6:16Yeah. Definitely.
- 6:21And then I have a eat cursor. Asian festival coming up in Ohio
- 6:25and I got my my tattoo time and deposit made for that as well.
- 6:31So, when y'all see me at National this year, I'll have a
- 6:35couple newer pieces. It's all right.
- 6:39Yeah. Well Michael get to see my my
- 6:41Phoenix in May so I will ya or August?
- 6:51Scuse me August I have another one.
- 6:54So yeah. Those are good weekend, at least
- 6:57said it was nice to get away. Get, you know, few hours
- 7:00Detroit's only about three, three and a half hour drive for
- 7:02us. So I need a large chunk of
- 7:07disposable income the time, an actual artists that I trust,
- 7:13good luck getting for you. Oh yeah.
- 7:22Well you're my daughter is already making plans on going
- 7:25annually with me as well again. So it said next time.
- 7:31Oh she's got to save her money and buy her.
- 7:32Next one mom foot the bill for the first one.
- 7:38My kid won't one. I still have to get my wife
- 7:41Bank. She was going to Get Inked and
- 7:45then, you know, got pregnant. So that put a wrench on that one
- 7:50and it just hasn't, you know, the money and time hasn't been
- 7:53there since And I don't think anybody out
- 8:28there listening wanted to visualize it out, so it's all
- 8:34good. Yeah, you still waiting up.
- 8:45Yeah, the good old postal thong. I've got to forget you when I
- 8:49swear, I almost. Okay, I'm at know.
- 8:57So yeah. Now back to the topic.
- 9:02So what are we thinking about this?
- 9:09I know Bill you were mentioning something about it should just
- 9:12be thrown out. Yes, yes, I'm going to shoot off
- 9:17a email to Bridget in regards to having you thrown out.
- 9:21We're having, you know, conflict and in regards to what's being
- 9:25delivered. As far as Parcels the concern,
- 9:29we had a discrepancy about the W SS and the Ws H, which is the
- 9:34walk sequence saturation. And then the walk sequence, high
- 9:38density, And a narwhal, pisar eastern district, the Delaware
- 9:43PA to District, we were informed by the district.
- 9:48Level rule carrier specialist that the wsh get centered under
- 9:53the WSS entries on your scanner and then the ADR of our office
- 10:00was confronted by a carrier saying.
- 10:03Well question 311 in the r xq a comprehensive question.
- 10:08The answer survey It says that only the WSS so now we had to
- 10:13retract that. So what happens to all these
- 10:16entries that we put in under the wsh are they counted or do you
- 10:19not counted? You know it's already counted.
- 10:24Yeah I mean they should be already counted but you know are
- 10:27they going to go back and and and retract them after finding
- 10:30out that we've been putting him in?
- 10:33Was how are they going to know? Are they going to be able to
- 10:36distinguish one from the other? By the printer itself.
- 10:42If the printer, you know, depending on the code, the
- 10:44printer put on them. Yeah, boy myself.
- 10:48Me is, how are they going to know when you entered it?
- 10:52It was Doug ESS or wsh. Oh, they won't,
- 11:07we don't know which ones will just delete them all.
- 11:13But yeah, that that would be their line of thinking that's
- 11:20probably true, but that but, you know, That's kind of the what's
- 11:27supposed to be the beauty of this is, if you make mistakes
- 11:30like that, then going forward, you know, within a year that
- 11:36data will fall off, will correct itself?
- 11:39Yeah, well correct itself. Yeah.
- 11:42You know, I've only recently throw it out but you know, this
- 11:46problem people do that though. Okay, they don't use wsh and
- 11:52that was a question. I had asked eight months ago, a
- 11:55high density doesn't mean full saturation correct.
- 11:58But since a rule carrier specialist told us to enter
- 12:03them. We did as directed so you can't
- 12:07fault us for that. Did you have it in writing?
- 12:10Yeah. Well, We actually we actually
- 12:13do. We have it in email?
- 12:15Okay there you go. There you are following.
- 12:19Then you were following the directives of a superior officer
- 12:24in the u.s. postal system. Yeah, well I wasn't going to go
- 12:28that far. But yeah, he's not Superior
- 12:32because a he's shorter and be it took him eight months to get
- 12:36back from a double knee replacement.
- 12:38And we have a carrier. Who's 80?
- 12:4080 year old mother. Got a double knee replacement
- 12:43walked out three days later. Yeah but you know that she
- 12:47wasn't she wasn't on the postal program.
- 12:49That's why she didn't take advantage of it.
- 12:53But the other problem is the scanning of the accountable.
- 12:57So you know the the delivery conformations which are showing
- 13:02up, not delivered, when you damn well know you handed it to the
- 13:06person I've had this situation happen, three times already, you
- 13:12know, in the last month and I had a carrier Saturday with 11
- 13:16defaults showing that they weren't delivered Including one
- 13:20he had sign in on the scanner a certified letter Scandal yo guys
- 13:26signed it on the scanner and heard everything and it showed
- 13:29it wasn't delivered. Yeah.
- 13:32Now, what's going on here? What's that?
- 13:38And we're supposed to trust these things and your pay is
- 13:41going to be based on this trust. So folks think, you know, if you
- 13:49can't trust the scanners case in point, I was accused of not
- 13:54scanning. Depart the route one day, well
- 13:56that's what the computer in the post office said, 20 minutes
- 13:59later to supervisor came back and apologized saying it's in
- 14:02the, our mssp program but it's not in the computer that they
- 14:07opened up. The check the scans.
- 14:10Now, what what the hell, folks, you've had 12 years to get this
- 14:16shit straight? You've had an extra six months
- 14:20to get this straight, they waited till the last two months
- 14:23before the start even training people.
- 14:26Yeah, And they still can't get it right.
- 14:34Now, my concern is that this is going to turn around and turn
- 14:38into a shit show. And people going to drop for
- 14:41four and five hours, they're going to drop for 5 hours on
- 14:46their routes. In my area alone we had Amazon.
- 14:52Well, we're not getting Amazon anymore.
- 14:55And people are all worried about that.
- 14:57And I said, yeah, well, you know, it's the Evan flow at the
- 14:59old mindset of the post office. We're not going to take an
- 15:02Amazon during the mini mail survey, because they still see
- 15:05his account. Not realizing it's the six-month
- 15:08process, not the two-week process.
- 15:12Yeah. But in the meantime, they're
- 15:15going to be data mining this information from this mini mail
- 15:19survey. And say, okay, now we're going
- 15:23to adjust your route. And I'm going to, I've gone from
- 15:27200 scans to barely over 100 scans in a matter of a month.
- 15:33yeah, ours of dropped quite a bit too and I know I have come
- 15:38across some Amazon, contract deliveries, and in their
- 15:42personal vehicles out on couple of my routes And yeah, there's
- 15:49days that those two zip codes don't even get Amazon at all now
- 15:54and you're thinking, oh, great. Now I'm going to get twice as
- 15:57much the next day and the next day you get, what you probably
- 16:01thought you would have had the day before.
- 16:03It's yeah, well, the answer, the question about where the at
- 16:09those show up on the radar report they don't because I know
- 16:15you know you have to be entered into your your scanner.
- 16:20They're individuals that they don't show up on record here.
- 16:22Extra point a radar report. I have no radar exists is
- 16:28different because the fact that it's a conglomeration of
- 16:32different mailings being bounded ship to you add, those are
- 16:36direct ships to you. And they don't go through.
- 16:43I don't go to the radar report. The point is at this point in
- 16:51the game, someone is asking that question.
- 16:57At this point in the game we have supervisors asking
- 16:59questions. Okay.
- 17:01Well do you BBM in the DPS? Does it count doesn't account.
- 17:08I get milk out like everything else except for the holes or
- 17:13forwards, you pull out or your inverted.
- 17:16Other than that, it's raw milk out.
- 17:19Raw piece count you got carriers, putting the inverted
- 17:23letters in with their raw mail count and you explain till now
- 17:28you just case them up and keep track of how many you got.
- 17:30Well, nobody told me you've been here for 12 years and you don't
- 17:33know this stuff. Well, I'm not a member of the
- 17:36Union. Well, give it On Facebook.
- 17:38You know, on YouTube. Get on rule, info dotnet,
- 17:42educate yourself. I'm not here to Hold Your Hand.
- 17:44I'll help you but you know, you need to help yourself a little
- 17:47bit that if you don't like you said 12 years.
- 17:51You've been through at least one, if not five counts.
- 17:55Well, probably one because last one was a few years ago about do
- 17:59that when he's 18 and then 16 before that and 14 one before
- 18:06that. And then every year prior Do
- 18:08that. You know, this reminds me of the
- 18:11blond that kept going to church every Sunday asking God to let
- 18:15her, you know, win the Powerball.
- 18:17You know, I need the money. I got to do this.
- 18:19I get. And, and finally, after the
- 18:21third Sunday, she lights a candle.
- 18:22She just Lord, you know, I really need your help in a
- 18:26voice. From above, says Meet Me Halfway
- 18:29and buy a lottery ticket. Oh, oh, it's your paycheck.
- 18:37Meet Me Halfway and pretend you You have some interest in it.
- 18:42Yeah. I'll go to bat for you, you
- 18:47know, and I'll help you and I'll educate you and everything else
- 18:50but you have to put some effort into it too.
- 18:58I agree. I get that my office to it's
- 19:01like I am the only one and they know that I study the shit.
- 19:09So it's like You know, y'all have access to it.
- 19:16Even if you're not going to Union member, you have access to
- 19:18it. Oh yeah, cuz I haven't made sure
- 19:20everybody in my office had all the handouts and pamphlets and
- 19:25activity guides and everything else.
- 19:27I never asked anybody's status on that.
- 19:30I just had one printed out and the boss made one for everybody.
- 19:34So you know, it's not like I don't know.
- 19:42People just don't Don't pay attention and then they bitch
- 19:47because they don't know anything.
- 19:49Yeah. And that it's the Indians fault
- 19:52right? The union I'm not doing anything
- 19:54for me. Yeah.
- 19:57Pretty union members, but then I turned around and I charged the
- 20:01non-union members $30.32 saddle point.
- 20:10Hey you guys got to make a living you know?
- 20:19Yeah well I'll say I guess my My experience, this week has been,
- 20:28has been different from what I'm hearing.
- 20:31What I'm reading out there Because RDR and his, his team of
- 20:39adrs led the training for management and when I talk to my
- 20:46whatever is title is oh I see stage manager or whatever, it's
- 20:50like talking to my D it's like talking to my Dr. He said the
- 20:55same things that came out of out of my DRS mouth, and he up to,
- 21:01and including says, as long as you're not asking for anything
- 21:04outrageous in here, we're going to let it go.
- 21:07We're not going to fight you over stuff.
- 21:11And my postmasters already said she's gonna err on the side of
- 21:15the rural carrier. There you go, not gonna want to
- 21:20fight it. So and I've seen my radar
- 21:24reports, I started to see the radar.
- 21:26Reports are starting to post them and including the day, I
- 21:31went through my my bundled flats and counted them and they showed
- 21:36up pretty close to what I can. Counted I was I was lost maybe
- 21:42like 5 or something, but they showed up but they showed up on
- 21:47there. so, my experience is that the information is, is getting
- 21:54in there. And and I haven't had the
- 21:58problems with what my scanner logging off.
- 22:01You know that, I'm reading about that.
- 22:03It have heard you guys talking about.
- 22:06So I was starting to be cautiously optimistic, at least
- 22:09for my office and my situation. I was feeling cautiously
- 22:13optimistic about this. But now I'm seeing stuff from
- 22:18other people, you know, the, you know, two days in.
- 22:21It was do we count. We're now we're not coming now,
- 22:24we're not counting uba, it's like, yes, sure.
- 22:28You're supposed to be counting that intend to do with all the
- 22:32rest, because you're not doing a complete breakdown of your
- 22:34markups, you're just getting the discount, so you include it
- 22:38right in there and then you get paid.
- 22:40So, peace out, the end of shift, duties for taking care of it.
- 22:44Yeah, so yeah. And then, and then my, my
- 22:50station manager said, there's even another report and I'm
- 22:53going to ask I'm going to follow up with him again on Monday.
- 22:56He says there's report that shows all of your all of the
- 23:00scans, all the rule activity scans, you've done for the past.
- 23:05Either 6 or 12 months. I can't remember which time
- 23:08period. He said so I'm going to ask to
- 23:12see that and And, you know, it's he showed me how that they, he
- 23:20showed me how they enter the stand-ups in in the system and
- 23:25it's not a thing that they got to go through every day.
- 23:30It's not that like they got to go through each individual time
- 23:33card entry. If they do the stand-up and they
- 23:35enter it and it credits to every route in that all of us for that
- 23:40day automatically, they don't have to go through every carrier
- 23:43in at it. Well, the problem is most of
- 23:47them are not starting at are not climbing it.
- 23:51Hey, we're not entering it Josh. That's understand that Josh.
- 23:56I understand that, that's not my point.
- 23:58My point is that it's a much easier system that they don't
- 24:02all they if they're doing it. Right.
- 24:04And I think my manager is It shows up for every route that
- 24:09day when they enter it. Yes, I've done a check of my, my
- 24:18tub flats, and those numbers are good.
- 24:22And I've done a couple of checks on my, my pre-sorted bundle
- 24:27flats and those have come out pretty good.
- 24:29So I was starting to feel pretty good about this but now I
- 24:33understand that, you know, my office is a microcosm And it's
- 24:38it's not, it's not it's not the general thing is what I'm seeing
- 24:45nationally. yeah, and So I'm starting to get kind of
- 24:53depressed about it because it's like, yeah, you know, I've been
- 24:56touting. I've been saying that I thought
- 24:58the system was going to be better for us and I've been real
- 25:04If not gung-ho, I've been I've been, I've been trying to, I was
- 25:09I've been optimistic about this and now I guess I'm coming back
- 25:13to reality that you know I thought that after after so much
- 25:19time that they would into delays, that three delays how
- 25:24many different places we've had that we would pull off the
- 25:29Band-Aid and go at this and there.
- 25:32There. And yes, there would be some
- 25:34tweaking that need to be done and some Growing Pains.
- 25:36But that essentially that this was going to work out for us and
- 25:40now I'm kind of saying that it's it needs some more naughty
- 25:46tweaking, it doesn't need tweaking.
- 25:48There needs to be some more, you know, Bridget bozak.
- 25:55Shirley baffled need to go and save the steward. - no, this is
- 25:59the way it's supposed to be. Not, you know, if you have
- 26:02managers who are pushing back and say you're not counting
- 26:05this, you say, no, this is what we're supposed to be counting
- 26:07and you guys need to be at the pointy end of the spear and and
- 26:11fighting this. Yeah.
- 26:15Or in situation where you don't have enough counters one day and
- 26:20they want to bring a clerk over to count and so know that your
- 26:23what do you mean? No, as they have to be
- 26:25certified, show me their certified, you know,
- 26:26certification papers that they attended Direction training.
- 26:30Well I can't show you my nice is you don't have to you were in
- 26:35the same day in class. I was okay?
- 26:37Yeah. But the clerk didn't go there.
- 26:40Okay. Yeah.
- 26:42No. They're not account.
- 26:43It's only counting night. I said no, you understand.
- 26:48Plain and simple. Yeah, this is not for discussion
- 26:51or argument and the ya know, Well, I'm going to be here 12
- 26:55hours. I don't care.
- 26:57I don't get paid for all this. You don't have to hear ya
- 27:00salary. That's, you know.
- 27:02Yeah. You know, any years I've been
- 27:03saying that, we don't get paid for what we do.
- 27:05So guess what? Take a bite of my pie.
- 27:12Yeah, I guess it was interesting in our office this week.
- 27:16I mean likes it count wise has been fairly smooth but as you
- 27:22know we had no flat Saturday and then our supervisor went on
- 27:29vacation Wednesday. She was there for half a day
- 27:34Wednesday and our 204 B was on vacation this past weak as well.
- 27:41So that left our Postmaster for Thursday Friday Saturday.
- 27:51Thursday, the clerk's that were scheduled were a brand-new PSC
- 27:55and a borrowed PSE, and neither one of them knew how to do
- 28:01anything. But basically, sort Parcels, so,
- 28:06we had to wait for the postmaster to get there to do
- 28:09are two separate and, and then count our raw flats and letters.
- 28:19And she didn't get there till 8:30 and we started at 8:00, so
- 28:23yeah. The other day, the other day.
- 28:33The the one that's counting the routes most of the days.
- 28:38She bring my hockey smell over it until like 10 40.
- 28:44And it was a whole tray of raw mail.
- 28:49Luckily eighty percent of it was for the large companies, but I
- 28:53still had to Ripple through it to pull out.
- 28:56All the rest of the mail. So I was able to adjust and I
- 29:01couldn't count because I'm an RCA.
- 29:05So even though I did go to the training, I can't do any of the
- 29:09counting. So yeah, we all had to wait
- 29:12around until she got there and yeah.
- 29:17Let me go back to the radar report thing here they got.
- 29:20I got this forwarded from Individual in our Union and
- 29:25says, I'm not going to sit here and defend it the radar.
- 29:28It is what it is. In the union supports it.
- 29:31I do not want to explain, I do want to explain a little on the
- 29:34bundle flats, and why it might not show up the day you get the
- 29:38bundle. Let's suppose to Cabello males
- 29:41out of huge mailing on February 15th.
- 29:43They take them to a bulk mail center in Nebraska, in the bulk
- 29:46mail And her enters in the amount of flats for the
- 29:49corresponding routes throughout the United States, which is
- 29:52uploaded to radar by time. I get Cabela's in Idaho, it's
- 29:56February 25th. I checked the raped radar and it
- 29:59isn't there, that's because it was input on radar February
- 30:0315th. Remember to bundle flats or a
- 30:0652-week average? So we can't even check.
- 30:11The see if the radar report is accurate and we've checked in
- 30:15our office and it's not accurate.
- 30:18We once got the first the first Saturday.
- 30:21Okay, we all got about six and a half to seven feet of bundled
- 30:25Flats. The route next to me got 92 for
- 30:30credit. I had 117.
- 30:34Okay, explain that one to me. How the hell is 17 to 7 feet of
- 30:40flats equal 117 pieces. For the you know.
- 30:49Yeah I will reach out and just smack that new tattoo dude.
- 30:58This is why you know you can't verify the numbers.
- 31:05It is the system you know it does need tweaking, it needs
- 31:09some real minut fine-tuning but the worst part of it is that the
- 31:14management team that is doing this.
- 31:18They're still mumbling dolts in the dark.
- 31:21They really are. Is everybody with duh dolt?
- 31:32Yeah. And seeing all the issues I've
- 31:42seen with people. I mean I think I asked Bill one
- 31:47day, when he called me, Evie, have you guys seen an upswing
- 31:52and SPM scans since this whole thing started?
- 31:55Yep, I have a couple. I've had a few more recently.
- 32:03Yeah. Well as you know, I might say
- 32:05one or two a week and I'm seeing three or four a day.
- 32:09Hmm. Hasn't been that much, but
- 32:12increase for me. But on the same note, I'm still
- 32:19getting them for that barge company. so, Out of what say,
- 32:27800 letters is. What shows up on the report,
- 32:32whistle, like, winners from scanning out of 15, the one
- 32:36they're looking for. That's not even count any of the
- 32:40flats. These books can be anywhere
- 32:44first anyway. Huh.
- 32:50How many of the flats do I do first or do the letters when
- 32:53they can get 122 124 tubs worth? Nothing.
- 33:03I hope you got the right one. And they waited two months
- 33:31before it started, and they actually bumped it back an extra
- 33:33month, member supposed to start up, and you worry.
- 33:38And, you know, then it got bumped back in the February.
- 33:42And they still couldn't get it right.
- 33:47Is it because of the incompetence of the post office?
- 33:49Is it because the post office doesn't want to see this
- 33:52implemented. This, this is the next step to
- 33:55us going hourly. It really is
- 34:17Taking stuff similar to Rex and implementing it on the city Side
- 34:21as well. Let me tell you something, they
- 34:26don't want to see it. They're awaiting payment of two
- 34:40hundred thousand dollars in grievances.
- 34:47Two hundred thousand dollars. What does that Tell You Folks?
- 34:53How bad the management is? this is, I've been settlements.
- 35:06Well, you know, take Take. Take, for example, my office
- 35:12tomorrow. You have stick subs off, you're
- 35:17bringing two carriers in who are not on the workday relief list.
- 35:21They want, they're welcome to come in and observe the the many
- 35:24mail survey but they should not be scheduled.
- 35:27So I got at least two stubs at be able to file a grievance.
- 35:29A third regular is off with the doctor's note that he submitted
- 35:35a month ago. It's not on the schedule.
- 35:37A fourth carrier who is going to To Africa for a month.
- 35:43Is scheduled all Tuesday through the next, you know, 30 days, but
- 35:48he plans not to come in tomorrow.
- 35:51Hmm, do you expect the subs to be on call because there's no
- 35:55such thing? Not my office.
- 36:01Oh I called them me I'ma write them up for not coming in.
- 36:04I'm sorry, there's no one calls that is how much you pay him.
- 36:11Oh, I got one for you. So R sub who is no longer with
- 36:15us. Stop Tim's Thursday.
- 36:19I don't know, turn his badge or something in and caught me on
- 36:23his way back out the door and asked if he could, you know,
- 36:29talk to me on the Stewart end of things and Was saying that, you
- 36:35know, he had more willing to stay if he didn't have to work,
- 36:38a full route, two days in a row. If he could, you know, have a
- 36:42day break in between and I said, that's not.
- 36:45So that's not in the job description.
- 36:47I said, there's no limited Duty on the rural side, and he's
- 36:53like, but what I said that would be something you'd have to work
- 36:55out with management but I don't see it possible.
- 37:00And I stopped. It is what it is.
- 37:05I'm thinking that was just the 42 j.r. out, he ran two days and
- 37:12then was in so much pain with his back and everything he
- 37:15needed to recover. And I'm thinking if that regular
- 37:18goes on vacation or something happens, and he goes out again.
- 37:23You know, for a long term, you're not going to be able to
- 37:28pull another sub to work every other day for you.
- 37:33Exactly. Well there is and then you get
- 37:36into this. Yeah.
- 37:38But you know, if you did you'd get into a disparity of
- 37:41treatment situation once a week, maybe twice because
- 37:56I have to run it with another route.
- 37:59That's it. I'm in.
- 38:00I'm out on full routes almost every day of the week.
- 38:09So yeah, look, I look back to when I started, you got three
- 38:16days training and then you had to carry it around.
- 38:20Now you're getting, you know, to pay periods of protection from
- 38:24going onto another route. You know, people coming into
- 38:27work and they're like well I can't lift this.
- 38:31Well hold it is part of the job description folks.
- 38:34It's 40 pound bag of dog food. It's not.
- 38:37You have 270 pound limit yet. No, I can't do that.
- 38:41What the hell do you apply for? Yeah just because Mom said, get
- 38:45out of the basement. Yeah I said that you just want a
- 38:55part-time job. Well you know, if you're an RCA
- 39:01you're going to be working. There's no yeah.
- 39:04One day a week, one day, every other week.
- 39:06Great now not with a short staffed office.
- 39:12It's not going to happen. They were there was a report and
- 39:19I can't remember where I saw it. That somewhere out in
- 39:23Greenville, Kansas, that they were reporting, no problems with
- 39:27the radar report. No problems with the Rex, many
- 39:30mail survey, no problems. This, I'm sitting there going,
- 39:34well, why don't you go to a real office?
- 39:37You know where they have a mix of city and rural carriers where
- 39:40they have, you know? You know, five to seven, yo,
- 39:43supervisors, and you know, shortage of carriers shortage of
- 39:47Clerks and incompetent management.
- 39:50And it wasn't you, then survey them and then come back and tell
- 39:54me. There's nothing wrong with Rex,
- 39:57but don't go to a five off the, you know, pipe route office in
- 40:00Greenville where everybody is related to each other and they
- 40:03work, you know, with each other they're probably Crossing crafts
- 40:06and everything else to get the job done, which is commendable.
- 40:10But that's not what's happening in the rest of the real world.
- 40:18Tell Mike. Well, I well I work in a mixed
- 40:22office. We, you know, when I say you
- 40:26know, when I say my office has 50 routes.
- 40:28While we have two offices with two ZIP codes in the two offices
- 40:32are on opposite side of towns. So in my office, we have 25 roll
- 40:36routes and I believe about 14 City routes in my office in my
- 40:43actual office. And and I and I would have to
- 40:47reflect that to I'm not seeing a problem with the radar report.
- 40:51I'm not having problems with the scanners.
- 40:53I think I think the the tub flats are being counted
- 40:57accurately. I'm not having problems with
- 40:59management. So I do work in a larger mixed
- 41:04office. That's both you know, now,
- 41:07granted, we're not rule rule like like this, like this other
- 41:10office you're talking about, we have a couple routes that get
- 41:14out in the sticks a little bit, but not And I know the other
- 41:20office hasn't has a route that I've run before he said.
- 41:22Now, this is about as close to a rural route as I've seen in our
- 41:27office. but I'm not seeing a problem with it, but then again,
- 41:32I'm saying that I You know, my office is probably that unicorn
- 41:38office. That's like I say it's not
- 41:42seeing any problems. Yeah, I mean, we have not heard
- 41:49of no problems in any of the offices in the in the Delaware
- 41:54PA to region. I mean, you know, then again, we
- 41:59have offices in our area where, you know, they have open routes
- 42:03that have been posted district-wide and they can't get
- 42:07filled. Well, we had a post excuse me,
- 42:11Chris and I we had a, we had a district-wide posting, and in
- 42:15Kansas Missouri, it was in the middle of Missouri.
- 42:21They posted they posted for 10 PT F positions district-wide.
- 42:27And at our booster meeting, our RDR said, well that, that was 10
- 42:33left after they put it up for bid in office.
- 42:38And it went district-wide and they filled some of the
- 42:40positions. And then it went back to the
- 42:43offices, I guess our office, because I guess it was one
- 42:46office, and they filled and then the non-probationary RCA A's who
- 42:53hadn't had a year in, were able to bid and they filled some more
- 42:55positions and then they ended up hiring the last three off the
- 43:00street. Hmm.
- 43:03So There's a question for you Kristen.
- 43:08Yes. even if you're a non-probationary RC a Where's it
- 43:15say that they can bid on those? Are they using the exemption of
- 43:21the most qualified persons available?
- 43:24I think. So like that would would be what
- 43:26it would fall under. So what's going to happen?
- 43:32I mean we're seeing this now but what's going to happen when
- 43:37these evaluations finally come to for tation and we have a mass
- 43:44amount of regular carriers that essentially take early
- 43:48retirement. Walk off the job.
- 43:53Yep. That's because I've seen to talk
- 43:56about it. Yep, I've seen that too or even
- 44:00something that necessarily an early retirement.
- 44:02They're ready to go. You know, they can go, I should
- 44:06say, they qualify to go but they're just not personally
- 44:08ready to go yet that, you know, are going to be like yet.
- 44:12Nope, I'm done. All right.
- 44:15What's going to happen with that?
- 44:17I mean if you don't if you already have a shortage of RCA's
- 44:20and PTI offs and regulars as it is, and we end up with a
- 44:26massive. Walk out.
- 44:29Then what's going to happen? The same thing happened in our
- 44:34office when we got this new postmaster in and he cracked
- 44:37down on the city carriers, we had 17 City carriers, just walk
- 44:43out basically take early retirement, early out leaving
- 44:47though they qualified you know, for retirement but because they
- 44:50weren't planning on retiring. This guy came in and 17 of them
- 44:53walked out in the first three months while now our wealth is
- 44:57averages, 14 to 22, vacant city routes a day.
- 45:02Holy moly. Yeah.
- 45:07Well. When I'm a Christmas time,
- 45:12people were getting mail for 34 days on City rails.
- 45:15But they were getting their parcels.
- 45:20Yeah, it just happened if you won't have anyone to cover and
- 45:24they'll end up having a higher regulars off the tree, which has
- 45:28already been starting to happen as it is out.
- 45:31Yep. I want to say Minnesota Dakota
- 45:34area. Yeah.
- 45:37Well, I was just someone, one of my friends on Facebook.
- 45:43I didn't realize he was also a rural carrier in Iowa, and I
- 45:50posted or I shared something that in our district are going
- 45:53to have a district-wide or they're going to have
- 45:57district-wide hiring fairs at the end of the month after after
- 46:01the Rex is over. And my office is listed on.
- 46:05There is needing RCA's. And I shared that and he's in
- 46:09and then we were talking about that.
- 46:12And then I saw a flyer, a similar flyer for virtual job
- 46:16fairs for The Dakotas Iowa, maybe Minnesota to.
- 46:21I can't remember what I saw on it so you know.
- 46:27So, I don't know, I don't know what's going to happen because I
- 46:33was christened. I've seen the I've seen the post
- 46:35from people saying, if my route goes down for hours, I'm out of
- 46:38here. My our, if, if I'm cut, if I'm
- 46:42taking a big cut from this, I'm gone.
- 46:46You know, and I'll probably stay because and then and then what
- 46:51we were talking about last week then what happens?
- 46:54Well, do you know, we going to contract negotiations next year
- 46:57and it's like, you know, due to lack of Staffing.
- 47:01And you've got people who willing to do it.
- 47:02Let's just get rid of that article 30 protection and, you
- 47:05know, regular carriers, you just gonna have to suck it up until
- 47:08we can until we can fix our hiring.
- 47:11Yeah. And make it to make a pitch that
- 47:13can make a make a run at at that protection.
- 47:17We have Yeah, I know the I think National Convention this year is
- 47:27going to be really interesting. Well, that's what we thought
- 47:32last year and not really much happened now.
- 47:36Yeah, that's because that's because they didn't bother
- 47:39telling you about the delay in the payment for your raises and
- 47:44as well as, you know, the delay in the Rex program.
- 47:47Yeah, they actually left, you know, potentially left all the
- 47:50You pertinent information out? Yeah.
- 47:54How convenient, huh? Well, you know, all the retirees
- 47:58and all them. They, you know, they didn't need
- 47:59to know that info anyways. Yeah, and there are more
- 48:05retirees there than there are actives.
- 48:11That's my thing. I get it.
- 48:14You want to go visit? Don't go, you know, if you've
- 48:16been retired for more than five years, You should be out step
- 48:22down. I mean I grew up, I have the
- 48:25utmost respect for our retirees and there are some out there
- 48:28that really do fight for what some of us are going through
- 48:31now. But in general, I mean if you've
- 48:34been retired for more than five ten years, it's time to step
- 48:39down as a delegate and let's all of us have those spots that are
- 48:43still going through the day-to-day grind.
- 48:46Hmm. Because number one, if you've
- 48:51been retired for more than five years, you barely know what we
- 48:54have been dealing with since to 2018.
- 48:57Okay. Number two, if you've been
- 48:59retired more than five years, you have no idea what we're
- 49:04going through with the management turnover, in the post
- 49:07office because the most qualified person we have in our
- 49:10office. I swear to God, you know, she's
- 49:14weak. Think I we have an AED cuz she's
- 49:16going to go with the defib one day.
- 49:19And yeah, we have to put the LED daughter and you know, volunteer
- 49:22to do that. I am qualified but you know,
- 49:33there's mitigating circumstances there but the thing is the thing
- 49:37of it is that, you know, you can't take a clerk Make them a
- 49:44204 B and 30 days later you call them a supervisor.
- 49:49Yeah, you can't take your supervisor like they took our
- 49:54rural carriers, supervisor and send her for three days trip.
- 49:57Four days training. Excuse me.
- 50:00In the middle of the mailman, email survey.
- 50:05What kind of what kind of intelligence does this take?
- 50:09You can't have a an eight-day rule for Rural, carrier
- 50:13Associates, and indeed, the Delaware PA to district and out
- 50:18in Oregon. It's a 10-day.
- 50:19And then down there in st. Augustine Florida.
- 50:22It's a 14-day rule. Where do you come up with this
- 50:25shit folks? And my poor 204 B has a city
- 50:29Side PTF, when he's there on Saturdays and I kind of Got him,
- 50:34he's a good kid and, you know, he just looks at me, he goes,
- 50:39nah, he's this is just a glorified babysitting job,
- 50:44that's all he feels like he's like, you know, they showed me
- 50:48how to run some of these reports, but after that, you
- 50:50guys know what the hell you're doing. yeah, it's Yeah, it's a
- 51:03bath. It's a match.
- 51:04That's an understatement. Yeah, it really is.
- 51:09It really is. Yeah and might says, well the
- 51:14radar reports are showing up. Well, we can't we can't prove
- 51:19that because nothing corresponds with the bundle Flats versus the
- 51:23radar report. It.
- 51:25Is it three days? Four days, five days behind what
- 51:27we're actually getting. We've gotten radar reports for
- 51:31four days and only got bungled Flats one day.
- 51:37Yeah, I'm not a genius. Well, it's I'm saying you can't
- 51:49prove the numbers. Oh, don't worry.
- 51:52It's over. Fifty two-week period.
- 51:54You'll get the numbers but you can't prove the numbers for them
- 51:57in email survey. That's what we're talking about.
- 52:02When we carry your next to me is get 79 on his report.
- 52:06He counted 405 something off just a little bit, but the
- 52:11bundled Flats aren't being for the purposes of the males.
- 52:17Survey, the bundled Flats aren't counted.
- 52:22I mean, yes, they show up on the radar report or supposed to show
- 52:25up on the radar report. But it's not what's being
- 52:29counted for purposes of the mail survey.
- 52:34Then, why are they bothering to give us the radar reports?
- 52:38Why do they bother counting them?
- 52:41Because they have to, because the bundle Flats have to be,
- 52:46they have to show those numbers when they worked them into your
- 52:50eat-in to the other 94% of your evaluation.
- 52:57Right. I mean, you know that's that's
- 52:59for that figures in, but for purposes, the mail survey and
- 53:04that's kind of where I'm kind of getting tired of this fight.
- 53:08Is that the radar report does if it lags by a day or two?
- 53:12I'm not too concerned about it or even even three or four days.
- 53:17I'm not too concerned about it because those numbers are going
- 53:20to be averaged out over 52 weeks.
- 53:23What I'm concerned about is Is this last little bit, the little
- 53:28bit that we're supposed to count and that's and that's why I had
- 53:32the hopes of racks is that this will is that they're going to go
- 53:38away from all this individual counting things and then
- 53:42fighting over you. No well I pulled this out of
- 53:45your out of your tub, but it's actually a letter.
- 53:48Here's the little blue ruler and all that craps going away.
- 53:52You know, that this? What that what we're doing, what
- 53:54we're doing is just The last little bit that they couldn't
- 53:57find a way to automate. That they couldn't find a way to
- 54:01automate the count on what the clerk sort and pars labels.
- 54:07And in in, in where do we where do we figure in the walking
- 54:12distances within your office? you know, the radar report and
- 54:18just keep Mama grader report and or into from reports this Friday
- 54:23when they stopped Counting They're not supposed to stop
- 54:27posting that report, they're supposed to riposte that report
- 54:30every day from now on, so you can see your numbers.
- 54:37And my gear correct. You know, in regards to the
- 54:40actual mini mail survey The radar report has no real bearing
- 54:45on it. Okay.
- 54:47My problem is you can't justify the numbers on the radar report
- 54:51with what you're getting. Okay, it doesn't matter whether
- 54:57it's two days, three days, four days, five days, two weeks.
- 55:01There's no way for us to justify those numbers.
- 55:08I'm trying to put it into perspective of it's like
- 55:11reconciling your checkbook. Like I started a week or two
- 55:18ago. I don't know how you do a
- 55:20checkbook, but I don't do it every two weeks.
- 55:24Well, Mom, you say I started writing down, what might, you
- 55:28know, I've been counting my bundle, you know what, I'm
- 55:30getting in bundles and just starting that total down right?
- 55:35And once I actually start seeing a radio report because they
- 55:39still haven't printed one in my office yet. so I'll be I should
- 55:47be able to go back and cross-reference and say okay the
- 55:53on this day these numbers from that date matched up, And be
- 55:59able to start checking and marking off.
- 56:01And at some point it should I should be able to reconcile up
- 56:07until a certain point. All these numbers from the last
- 56:12few weeks. If I'm able to actually see
- 56:15those numbers, there's the keyword should should be able
- 56:20to. That's why there's that 19
- 56:23percent thrown in there. Because there's a margin of
- 56:28error. Good and can there are two
- 56:35different words. Yes.
- 56:40I agree with you, Bill. Yeah, I can tell you what's in
- 56:45my checkbook. I can't tell you what's on my
- 56:48radar report and I can't tell you how many flats.
- 56:51I've received that correlate with the radar report on a daily
- 56:56weekly, or monthly basis. And say yeah, I can't either
- 57:01because I haven't seen those numbers yet.
- 57:07Once let me do actually get those and see those numbers.
- 57:11Hopefully, I will be able to hopefully good would have shut
- 57:21up. Exactly.
- 57:23So so Bill let me throw this back at you.
- 57:27The the the well actually let me put it to you this way.
- 57:32If you get a response from from from Bridget, I'd really like to
- 57:36hear what that is. I'll let y'all know.
- 57:39Okay? Because I have a feeling that
- 57:45There there. Is the analogy I said is I
- 57:50really think they rip the Band-Aid off on this and they're
- 57:53just going to go they're going to go ahead with it and you know
- 58:00well it doesn't matter you toward the scab off to well.
- 58:03Yeah, you know well and like Ronnie said, well, don't worry
- 58:09if there's adjustments to be made, we can do that.
- 58:12No, no, no. This is supposed to be set in
- 58:14stone Ronnie. This is why we had three
- 58:16different, you know, Chester's of engineering and Time study
- 58:19efficiency, you know, corroborate in this situation,
- 58:24so that it could be set in stone that everybody agreed to.
- 58:27You can't go back and change it now.
- 58:30You already have your arbitrators deal with it, and
- 58:34like it was stated on the steward.
- 58:38QA, prior to the racks, I do believe Ronnie got on there and
- 58:45said that dr. Miracle will be at National
- 58:48Convention this year. I wonder how well that'll go.
- 58:55Well, it depends. Well, it depends because RDR
- 58:59said, when he was, he was at National headquarters, do I vote
- 59:03in my wife who said he was there, but he had a chance to
- 59:05talk to dr. Miracle and he said, when he
- 59:08talks about his numbers and his charts and everything, he is,
- 59:14he's like a kid in the candy store.
- 59:17He's like his, he's in his element. so, we'll see.
- 59:26Yeah, the last last time I saw him was at Grand Rapids and I
- 59:31ran into him and we were talking and he goes oh my God somebody
- 59:34else appreciates numbers as much as I do.
- 59:42Okay, I think it's a different kind of, I think we're
- 59:44interested in different sets of numbers though. 36:26.
- 59:50I know that I wasn't going there.
- 1:00:04Payroll file. Next next Monday, Yeah, I don't
- 1:00:11think there's other numbers, can't, you know, you can't even
- 1:00:15access that without being on. Well, I think that it, you can
- 1:00:21get into payroll, you get into its you sleaze and you know PF?
- 1:00:27Yeah, yeah, yeah. Why is again now, they actually
- 1:00:36changed it on the postal. He's again, after they had it
- 1:00:40all in a couple days and now it's you have to be back on a
- 1:00:44office computer in order to change your allotments, which I
- 1:00:47have to go in and do this week. Okay.
- 1:00:50Yeah, I didn't realize it. Yeah. yeah, it's an EOP F has
- 1:01:03been down for ever now, so Yeah well and that's kind of weird
- 1:01:09because now that they've got to this to factor two Factor
- 1:01:14authentication, I would figure that they it should be back up.
- 1:01:19So I'm wondering why it's been. I mean, I could see it taking
- 1:01:24taking it down like they did for everything else.
- 1:01:26But, you know, now that You have to have like I said, the two
- 1:01:33Factor authentication. That should be.
- 1:01:35I don't see why we can't get back in.
- 1:01:37I don't know. I agree with you on that.
- 1:01:42It's me. The two queens.
- 1:01:47The two Factor authentication to me, is not a big deal.
- 1:01:50I know a lot of people are are railing about it on on social
- 1:01:54media but I don't think it's a big deal.
- 1:01:56Yeah. I mean either because it's
- 1:01:57actually I think it's a good idea.
- 1:01:59I think it's a good idea to be to Captain to the double verify
- 1:02:09that the right person is trying to access your information that
- 1:02:14you are the person whose axes Point 1.
- 1:02:16Why? Because when I do the, the first
- 1:02:21step, and it says you're an asshole.
- 1:02:24And then when I do it, the second time and said you're
- 1:02:25still an asshole. Yeah.
- 1:02:28Well, that's just because you are an asshole.
- 1:02:30That's it. It's just an acknowledgement,
- 1:02:34you know, it's in your case. It's just, you know, it's more
- 1:02:41it's more about working on your self-esteem.
- 1:02:46Then then anything else? Great self-esteem.
- 1:02:52And I think I'm the best. That's all I can do.
- 1:02:55Yeah. You're gonna be very good at
- 1:02:56something. Be excellent.
- 1:02:58You know. But but it is good for, you
- 1:03:01know, for protection because of all the hackers and everything
- 1:03:04else, you know, protect yourself, folks.
- 1:03:07Yeah, we're X. And that's what the doctor told
- 1:03:13my father, after I was born, I've been hanging out with
- 1:03:23tattoo artists all week and you never know what's going to slip
- 1:03:26out of my mouth right now. But not touching that one.
- 1:03:39Well, yeah. Now that I am.
- 1:03:41Yeah. Okay.
- 1:03:43This is a PG 17 show. Well, has the explicit rating on
- 1:03:50it so it's okay. Yeah, it does II made sure
- 1:03:54because I know sometimes people like to call Bill a fucking
- 1:03:59asshole and Oh wait, Bill calls himself that.
- 1:04:06So yeah, we don't have to answer.
- 1:04:31I mean, come on folks. So Rex is a wreck.
- 1:04:40Yeah, we've known that you know unfortunately Mike Mike Yeah
- 1:05:01yeah I know Thursday since we got the Shroud off set up when
- 1:05:11she got those counted and because you know I'm still
- 1:05:14sitting around waiting on the raw mail.
- 1:05:16So I might as well throw up the Waiting on the letter so I might
- 1:05:21as well get the flats. I had that whole route ready to
- 1:05:24go literally everything marked. I had instructions on how to get
- 1:05:28a house that wasn't by the Box on the parcel marker, everything
- 1:05:33literally, all he had to do when he walked in the door was taken
- 1:05:37out to the truck load it and go to the row. and, It still took
- 1:05:46him almost three hours on the street and there was only two
- 1:05:49Dismounts. Well that's pregnant.
- 1:05:53Seven hours. It took them last time.
- 1:05:56I don't think he's gotten some about usually about five four
- 1:05:59and a half five. There's either way.
- 1:06:05So, it's an improvement. I was just down the street.
- 1:06:11Oh, yeah, my case is all jacked up.
- 1:06:14I got, you know, case, labels people street name has its own
- 1:06:18symbol. It's right there.
- 1:06:21Their route is literally three rows.
- 1:06:23That's it. There's three rows to that whole
- 1:06:25route. Maybe.
- 1:06:28All right to in 3/4 Rose. But anyways, I walk in and
- 1:06:35there's huge bright ass sticky notes with the number street
- 1:06:38name, written stuck underneath where it goes, on like case.
- 1:06:44Yeah, and there's only one, two, three, four.
- 1:06:59Five six roads total for that row.
- 1:07:04Oh shit, I move my mouse and Josh and his cat showed up
- 1:07:08again. Yes, like six or seven roads for
- 1:07:12that entire row. And 99, what do you do?
- 1:07:19You know? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:25It's gotten to the point where I said, you want me go ahead and
- 1:07:29get this case tough and ready to go.
- 1:07:30She's like, yeah, yeah, give you something to do.
- 1:07:33It's all right, so then maybe it won't take him, six hours out
- 1:07:36there again and she laughed. She did leave in the postmasters
- 1:07:44at the point of just Yeah. Yeah, I don't know, folks.
- 1:07:54I don't know where the post office is going, I don't know.
- 1:07:57I feel for people who were going to be out try to make careers
- 1:08:02out of the post office. Because frankly, I get out to
- 1:08:06me. It's dismal not only from their
- 1:08:09policies but in their management.
- 1:08:13Yeah. And I'm going regular within the
- 1:08:16seven eight months Yeah, I'm driving by 34 mailboxes that
- 1:08:23don't get any mail you know a day and you know you're not
- 1:08:27getting that's that's showing up on Rex to, you know that you're
- 1:08:31passing his mailbox is your on, making it stops be carried the
- 1:08:35other day, you know? It's just you know, why you come
- 1:08:38back silly. They came back and I had cased
- 1:08:40up a box holder and to high densities and what to oversized
- 1:08:49postcard, you know, box holders and they came back and I was
- 1:08:53there for about an hour and a half.
- 1:08:56And I said, what took you so long?
- 1:08:57They said, well, yeah, I guess stop at every box.
- 1:09:00I said you have mail for every box.
- 1:09:01No, but I'm going to stop at every box.
- 1:09:04You know, it shows up that you're not getting mail for that
- 1:09:07box. no, I said, okay, now you know It actually shows because
- 1:09:15they're using their DPS and you know, they can't tell the Box
- 1:09:19holders and stuff like that, but they know on the DPS, if you're
- 1:09:22not getting anything. Right.
- 1:09:52Right. You know, we should have that.
- 1:09:59Available. In the same way, like the, the
- 1:10:05the Rex program says, you know, they dropped off bundled
- 1:10:07newspapers or something at the back of your doc.
- 1:10:10That's not, you know, included in the program Sue.
- 1:10:14So, we've got Out of us because the printers in that town.
- 1:10:22And then they just, you know, when the truck stops and drops
- 1:10:25off their mail for the day, they pick them up and drop them off
- 1:10:28to us at the next stop. And then we also got another
- 1:10:32local paper from town hour. North of us.
- 1:10:34That drops it off at the office just north of us.
- 1:10:37So when she gets there, she picks those few things up daily.
- 1:10:41And then, when she's coming back down, making her rounds to pick
- 1:10:44up empty equipment. She drops those off for us.
- 1:10:49And then you have a supervisor say oh no those don't get
- 1:10:51counted. Oh no.
- 1:10:59No, but I'm saying. The lack of knowledge that the
- 1:11:09information that this information, I mean, it's
- 1:11:12overwhelming. I was like I said we had a role
- 1:11:15carrier specialist telling us the the enter, the wshh.
- 1:11:18Wshh as you know, a walk sequence saturation and you know
- 1:11:23you find out on question 311 no it's not but this guy's a
- 1:11:27specialist. But then he's the same guy that
- 1:11:30has one carrier going by, it's the same mailbox, three times.
- 1:11:34He he he he has 104 houses on the carriage development,
- 1:11:40Carriage Home Development where you pass by it drive.
- 1:11:43The whole route come back and hit it and then drive another
- 1:11:46three and a half miles back to hit two, other streets that are
- 1:11:49at, you know, not even on the route and yet three other three
- 1:11:53other routes go past those houses.
- 1:11:57So, you know, that goes to speak volumes about the specialist,
- 1:12:01they have in the post office. Yeah.
- 1:12:13I mean we've got rural carriers Associates who and who and some
- 1:12:18of the converted to regular recently that could take the
- 1:12:22routes and line them up better than this guy could.
- 1:12:27But because he has the years and knowledge, it works out at
- 1:12:31District. He has the ear of the Boom in
- 1:12:34the district manager saying, this is the way it should be.
- 1:12:38What's like? You know what, I get that.
- 1:12:40And I remember when my old office when Amazon came in, for
- 1:12:44Sunday's and then the dynamic delivery will the clerk's.
- 1:12:48Don't know what routes buttered up to what.
- 1:12:50So when they put their first initiative with the Rob's
- 1:12:52together, we were crisscrossing across town quite a bit and one
- 1:12:56of them actually asked me how you know, which ones touch to
- 1:12:59what and what areas. So if we can make it easier for
- 1:13:02you guys and I did I put them right together for I told her,
- 1:13:05you know, this section has should have these three routes
- 1:13:08and This one should have these three routes and after that if
- 1:13:12flowed much nicer. But yeah, I mean, it's a matter
- 1:13:16of a lot of us who knows especially the longer term RCA's
- 1:13:19that know which routes, but up to what?
- 1:13:22And we know where we could Veer off to do a bump off of another
- 1:13:26route and then come back to the one.
- 1:13:27We're at because we're right there.
- 1:13:31Or here's a unique concept when you're doing routes, why don't
- 1:13:35you consult the people who do the routes?
- 1:13:37Yeah, exactly. I know that.
- 1:13:41I know that's out of the box thinking but well there you go.
- 1:13:45Making sense again Bill. I know I know and yo The sign
- 1:13:54says common sense and common courtesy stop at these doors.
- 1:14:03The portion off this one route on the north east end of town
- 1:14:07and they put it onto another route.
- 1:14:10That primarily does the Southwest in a tone.
- 1:14:14I'm like, well, what the hell now?
- 1:14:16You gotta go up this way and then cross town and go back the
- 1:14:18other way. What the hell.
- 1:14:20Meanwhile you've got three other route in between Vamp.
- 1:14:30But like I said, get out, we've got this one route that's 60
- 1:14:35hours, at least on in our office, okay?
- 1:14:39I mean, it was already like a route when they added the 104
- 1:14:42Carriage homes on there. To get to the first start, stop
- 1:14:48on the line of travel, you have to go past 104, Carriage homes.
- 1:14:54Then you do the whole route. And then when you're done, this
- 1:14:58one section, you have to drive a mile and a half to get to the
- 1:15:01carriage homes that you already passed once.
- 1:15:04Then you drive three and a half miles from The Carriage homes to
- 1:15:08go over and hit three streets, which have three carriers going
- 1:15:14by them. Yeah.
- 1:15:18Now what sense does it make to go right past 100 for homes and
- 1:15:24not make those deliveries get the weight out of the vehicle.
- 1:15:26Drop your fuel consumption. You wear and tear give those
- 1:15:30other three streets to the other three carriers that can handle
- 1:15:33more actually one cherry wood handle two of them and in the
- 1:15:36second Chariot can handle there's four boxes that's even
- 1:15:39funnier. If you get that Screech then
- 1:15:42after driving three and a half miles to get to choose treats
- 1:15:45and you have to drive another mile and a half to do four
- 1:15:47boxes. Are you fucking kidding me?
- 1:15:56You can't be that stupid so you can you just don't be pissed
- 1:16:04off? Yes.
- 1:16:08And they prove you wrong every time.
- 1:16:10Just when you think they can't get their IQ lower, they prove
- 1:16:15you wrong. Yeah.
- 1:16:18How about we work together, folks?
- 1:16:20How about that? How about you stop using your
- 1:16:22title as your authority to say or do whatever you please.
- 1:16:28How about if you cooperate with us Yeah, I know.
- 1:16:34I know. I'm sorry.
- 1:16:36Mike. Yeah, I went too far.
- 1:16:46Got with, wouldn't it be nice if they did?
- 1:16:50That would be, you know the company could make money, you
- 1:16:54know, we could we could sort out the the riffraff.
- 1:17:00I mean, you know, we could make it more efficient, more
- 1:17:02profitable people would be happier.
- 1:17:07And let me tell you something, let me tell you something years
- 1:17:10ago. We came to work and we look
- 1:17:14forward to coming to work. We had a good time on the floor,
- 1:17:18talking to each other and everything.
- 1:17:19And we got oh shit, five times as much mail out the door and
- 1:17:25under evaluation and we every every Saturday we have snack
- 1:17:30Saturdays and we had rotating people bringing different dishes
- 1:17:33in on Saturdays. Different people bringing in,
- 1:17:37you know, drinks. Yo, different Refreshments, my
- 1:17:40office, my old office, no problem once once a month on a
- 1:17:46Friday. My old office, once a month on a
- 1:17:49Friday or Saturday morning, we'd all get to breakfast.
- 1:17:52Go to breakfast, before we had to report and just hang out and
- 1:17:56have a good time and then go to the and then go to the office,
- 1:18:00you know it? Yeah.
- 1:18:04We used to go out. Out drinking with each other.
- 1:18:07Oh yeah. And now it's now it's such a
- 1:18:09divisive atmosphere in there that.
- 1:18:12You know, there's only three people in my office has ever
- 1:18:16been to my house. Two more cops.
- 1:18:19Okay, never mind. The other one was the ATF.
- 1:18:26I'm sorry. Forget it.
- 1:18:30But no. Yeah, it's the it has been such
- 1:18:33a divide in, in all offices with especially with management.
- 1:18:38You know, when you see a change in management, you see a divided
- 1:18:41even more. and it's just, It sucks.
- 1:18:51And just the changes that I've seen in the eight years that
- 1:18:54I've been around. I said, yeah, we use that.
- 1:19:02I know you're not going to believe this but this is true.
- 1:19:05Okay. Every year at Christmas time.
- 1:19:10We would play the Charlie Brown song.
- 1:19:13Is the one with the what's-his-name, pigpen?
- 1:19:17Yeah. And, and Sherman doing the
- 1:19:19dancing. Hell yeah.
- 1:19:21And and and then when it would get to a certain point, me and
- 1:19:26Mark Marciano, you, we would break out dancing on the floor.
- 1:19:30To the point where I would lay down on the floor, doing the
- 1:19:32spin and kicks and everything, when the music Tempo picked up
- 1:19:36and then get back up. And it's like, and everybody
- 1:19:38would go and have a great time now.
- 1:19:41It's got to get to Marshalls. Got It's like, you know oh yeah,
- 1:19:49three minutes out of our day to make everybody smile, you know?
- 1:19:53Oh yeah, we you know, we have the radio going and everybody's
- 1:19:57in a good mood and we're just, you know, we'd be singing to a
- 1:20:01song or dancing as we're going to, you know, get their next
- 1:20:04parcel out or high five in or hip bump in or elbow bump into,
- 1:20:09you know, and just and having a good time.
- 1:20:12And then as soon, as management walks in and has to go turn the
- 1:20:15radio down because I need to concentrate Okay.
- 1:20:23How dare we be in a good mood? And yeah, have fun at work.
- 1:20:31I assume visor tell me, you know, this stop talking put my
- 1:20:34face in the case and I turned around and I said I'm
- 1:20:37ambidextrous I can talk in case the same time.
- 1:20:43That's the same supervisor that jumped on our case, one that one
- 1:20:47Christmas time and I stepped out of my case and I go all the way
- 1:20:49down the floor you know, you're the only person I know can suck
- 1:20:53the spirit right out of Christmas.
- 1:20:56Hey and I'll tell you what the oohs and the aahs even the city
- 1:21:00carrier get my tattoo artist but he keeps saying he goes, you
- 1:21:08know, that would be a good because I need to write a book
- 1:21:12or make a movie. A about the burned-out postal
- 1:21:14worker. He goes.
- 1:21:15I'm sure I got something there. I haven't seen him in a year and
- 1:21:24he's all like, so how's it going?
- 1:21:26Yeah, you know, I still work too much.
- 1:21:33Oh yeah. It's We had a carrier, he was a
- 1:21:39postal baby right out of high. School joined.
- 1:21:41The post office was on civil service, so you know, he had 38
- 1:21:48years in 38 years. From 18 to 38 out.
- 1:21:54Yeah, he wasn't even 58 yet, and the parcel started coming.
- 1:22:00And it was it was hellacious Christmas and the week before
- 1:22:05Christmas. He just he turns around and
- 1:22:07comes in. He thought to hamper sitting
- 1:22:09there, he said, I retire and walked out to have a shit that's
- 1:22:15a light day anymore. Well, that's we're still getting
- 1:22:20mail to yeah. But yeah, he just said, I quit,
- 1:22:29I retire and walked out these evaluations and some of these
- 1:22:39routes lose quite a bit because maybe they did have Amazon, and
- 1:22:44of the last meal count and the mail volume was higher than it
- 1:22:48was, you know, five years ago or five years ago was higher than
- 1:22:53it is now. And You know like you know Bill
- 1:22:57and I have talked you know our personal volume is less what
- 1:23:00month month and a half. Is just dwindled right now.
- 1:23:04Yeah. Or what about the people who've
- 1:23:08had special counts you know in the last couple years you know
- 1:23:13they're going to get hit right in the crotch and they're going
- 1:23:17to say I'm a I'm an 8th route. Imagine, I've got a guy who's a
- 1:23:23j route. Jumped up to a k route because
- 1:23:26of the FSS withdrawal and he still gets done in five hours a
- 1:23:31day. Yeah, well, I'll tell you what
- 1:23:35my time, he gets unstuck in his breath in his teeth are going to
- 1:23:38be a disaster and because yeah. Having boxes that are inactive
- 1:23:48and having them marked active', if you're not delivering to
- 1:23:50those suckers that you, it's going to catch up with you.
- 1:23:54Mmm. Yep.
- 1:23:56Adding your route is not going to be as easy as it used to be.
- 1:24:00No, no, not at all. And, you know, this is, this is
- 1:24:06part of the, you know, these efficiency Engineers, they've
- 1:24:09been working years and years figuring out all the little
- 1:24:12tricks that you know, rural carriers use.
- 1:24:14Yeah. And there they you know, they're
- 1:24:17slowly eliminate them, they haven't gotten rid of all them
- 1:24:19yet, but they're pretty damn close.
- 1:24:22It's like we're doing this last round of me.
- 1:24:26Map II. We had a route that she came
- 1:24:28back. I told me, you know, it had
- 1:24:30cleared the first time we did it and she come back and told me it
- 1:24:33was given, you know, was coming up right again.
- 1:24:37And so I went in and looked at it and sure enough there's a box
- 1:24:41that should not be active. That was active.
- 1:24:45And the reason is throwing a red is because it's a new build.
- 1:24:49All that's there is the stone foundation.
- 1:24:54There are the brick Foundation. There's Is nothing else there
- 1:24:57yet? Why she already had it added in
- 1:25:00an active? I don't know.
- 1:25:03But there is literally nothing there but a stone block
- 1:25:06Foundation I'll do you one better.
- 1:25:10The Cara Jones, I told you about the Builder.
- 1:25:14Put me put in one extra CBU that he doesn't need the carrier, has
- 1:25:21it on their system, but there's nothing going in there.
- 1:25:25There's no houses for it. Okay, I mean developments done
- 1:25:30and the carrier's wondering why this thing keeps coming up like
- 1:25:32that. It's like you know it doesn't
- 1:25:35exist and they're like, What's not?
- 1:25:38My fault. I still open it every day.
- 1:25:42Okay. All right, I quit.
- 1:25:45Well, I had one of her my for my Ox route to that came back and
- 1:25:48she asked me, so I ran in real quick and the office and looked
- 1:25:53at it and I went, oh, and I've had just went to clicked on it.
- 1:25:56Moved it inactive. I said I said the only reason is
- 1:26:00because that address was initially.
- 1:26:03Put for some reason. It was the very first address in
- 1:26:06the edit book, even though it should be in the middle of the
- 1:26:08route. And so we had move that And then
- 1:26:12for some reason they got marked act.
- 1:26:13If I said no, it doesn't have a box yet.
- 1:26:15I said they just built a house on that property, and it's been
- 1:26:18up for sale for over, but there's no actual physical
- 1:26:20boxes, and that's an active one, and it should be that way in the
- 1:26:23book. But yeah, it just Yeah, it'll be
- 1:26:30interesting to see how this goes.
- 1:26:31Like I said, those that are patting routes so it'll
- 1:26:34eventually come back and get you.
- 1:26:36Hmm. Oh, back to that one.
- 1:26:40When you said they have a sea view that's not in, use it all
- 1:26:43the time and outgoing mail fought.
- 1:26:45Yeah. But and outgoing mail slot.
- 1:26:49Yep. And do bars a lockers Well. he's
- 1:26:55not going to use the parcel lockers because there's no one
- 1:26:58there getting mail, but it with the outgoing mail slot, that's
- 1:27:03justification enough to have to open the door to verify that no
- 1:27:06one put outgoing mail in there. Boy.
- 1:27:11You would, you would stretch a boogie all the way down to your
- 1:27:13kneecaps, wouldn't you? You have three others?
- 1:27:27Is not used completely because there's no more houses.
- 1:27:32So why would anybody go to the fourth one?
- 1:27:34If there's no mail going into it?
- 1:27:37Nobody has an address in that one.
- 1:27:40You would be surprised. Gotta keep it locked up.
- 1:27:44No, I would. Well then you got to check the
- 1:27:49out. The empty parcel lock.
- 1:27:50Well, I get Josh's Point too. Your you got to, you got to
- 1:27:58check that out, going mail slot, unless you block it off because
- 1:28:02you will have people who will put mail in it.
- 1:28:05Not necessarily people who are not necessarily people who live
- 1:28:09there, but you might see somebody come in and say, oh, I
- 1:28:14got something to drop off. Look, there's there's an
- 1:28:18outgoing mail slot, and then, you know, that letter sits for a
- 1:28:21couple of months because she didn't Because you didn't check
- 1:28:28it but but I would block it off. I went I'm kind of with you
- 1:28:32Bill. I would just I block it off so
- 1:28:35it's not just the sign saying don't put mail in here.
- 1:28:37I would actually physically block it off so that they can't
- 1:28:40put Malin. I mean, you know, you do not
- 1:28:50going to use the unit ever ever. You know but hey you know what
- 1:28:57do I know it's like when they put some new CD use in my
- 1:29:01development and the replacing him in the guy, had the one up
- 1:29:04and he's almost ready. This directly the other one and
- 1:29:09I said to my so you have a problem.
- 1:29:10Here is the what's that nice as well?
- 1:29:13This is a 12 unit CPU and he goes, yeah and I said you
- 1:29:15replace the 16 unit 1, where's the other four boxes going?
- 1:29:21Hey, I'm just doing what I'm told.
- 1:29:25Okay, you keep doing that, you know, there's eight houses that
- 1:29:29here that aren't going to get, you know mail because you're
- 1:29:32putting up the wrong units. fortunately, they hadn't taken
- 1:29:39the old ones down yet, so, All right hand, that gonna know guys
- 1:29:45who've been going for about an hour and a half.
- 1:29:47We're ready to wind it down. Yes.
- 1:29:53My phone's the last five days of this many male surveyor Upon Us.
- 1:30:01Josh your final words of for the night I wasn't gonna go there.
- 1:30:13This is the last five days, the final stretch.
- 1:30:18At this point don't get yourself overwhelmed.
- 1:30:21If you do take a step back, take a breath, step back in.
- 1:30:29I wish everyone good luck with the end result will see you next
- 1:30:40week. Mike Folks, do the think if you
- 1:30:49have been to the training through Zoom or through,
- 1:30:53however, you did it in your, in your office, your district will
- 1:30:56never do the things they told you to do.
- 1:31:01Count everything, don't ask for anything out rate.
- 1:31:04If you're not asking for something outrageous, they
- 1:31:06should be willing to give it to you again.
- 1:31:08Bill, I know it's that word should be, but that's how I'm,
- 1:31:14that's how I'm approaching it. Again.
- 1:31:18It's I said, I was a little dissolute.
- 1:31:22I'm kind of I'm in this bad place right now because I
- 1:31:26thought, I thought this was actually going to work out for
- 1:31:29us and It's looking like the post office is proving me wrong
- 1:31:33so just do the things you're supposed to do and you know,
- 1:31:40we'll see where it will see what happens when they when they get
- 1:31:42the final numbers. And don't forget to set your
- 1:31:47clocks ahead next weekend. Oh yeah.
- 1:31:49I don't ready. Yeah.
- 1:31:53It's coming over the number now, but I just didn't know when I
- 1:31:56have my State Booster next weekend, but I will be back in
- 1:32:00time for next week's episode. So yeah, I mean, maybe I'll be
- 1:32:05interesting to see what type of things I hear there as we wind
- 1:32:09down the mini mail survey for the week prior.
- 1:32:13So I'm kind of I'm not. Yeah, kind of looking forward to
- 1:32:17it in a way. Yeah.
- 1:32:19Yeah. And Bill finish this off
- 1:32:24tonight. Oh, ladies and gentlemen, I
- 1:32:28don't know what to say that the mini mail surveys halfway over.
- 1:32:35You should be doing everything you can to the possibly, be
- 1:32:39inclusive of everything, you're entitled to everything.
- 1:32:43That should be counted. All your distance is But the
- 1:32:48pragmatism, my my being is that, you know, we're pretty much, you
- 1:32:54know, on the cuff of having this fail miserably.
- 1:33:01So just do, do what you do every day, you know, try to, you know,
- 1:33:06protect yourself and your route, your paycheck.
- 1:33:10Other than that, you know, when you go out be safe, watch the
- 1:33:13kids, Watch Dogs, Watch the traffic.

- 1:33:19delivery today. We care about you and your
- 1:33:24family cares about you. So, you know, make sure you make
