- 0:00Speaker 1: Very old environments. I'm in LA I like your spectacles.
- 0:07Speaker 1: I like these are new what you noticed? They're cute.
- 0:12Speaker 1: You know, it's very popular in the city of Manhattan
- 0:14Speaker 1: to be rocking clear glasses right now. And I said
- 0:17Speaker 1: to myself, I think I could pull it off. So
- 0:20Speaker 1: you got yourself some clear frames. Yeah, I rocked the
- 0:22Speaker 1: clear frames. Are you feeling it? I love it. I'm
- 0:26Speaker 1: out here in Los Angeles, Donald for the Emmy Awards.
- 0:29Speaker 1: I hear, are you nominated? I am nominated Donald um
- 0:34Speaker 1: for a Comedy Director of the Year. I hope you win.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I don't know if I'm gonna win. Joe, Well, you're
- 0:39Speaker 1: very popula I didn't say. I didn't say I know
- 0:42Speaker 1: you're gonna win. I said, I hope. Well, of course
- 0:44Speaker 1: I hope. I and Amanda Clutes and my stepmother, who
- 0:47Speaker 1: are both very big manifests and white boarders. A lot
- 0:52Speaker 1: of the stuff I say to all of you listeners
- 0:55Speaker 1: I got from my stepmother initially, and then Amanda Clutes
- 0:57Speaker 1: is miss Whiteboards. She actually, you know, he's going to
- 1:01Speaker 1: be on Dancing with the Stars and has had Dancing
- 1:03Speaker 1: with the Stars on her whiteboard forever. So I'm just
- 1:09Speaker 1: asking you, Joel, you are a pop culture specialist. Yes,
- 1:13Speaker 1: what are my odds? Pretty good? Because odds are it's
- 1:17Speaker 1: going to go to Ted Lasso. Now, some would say,
- 1:20Speaker 1: sorry to interrupt you, Mike, but some would say, if
- 1:22Speaker 1: there's three directors from the same show, that the vote
- 1:26Speaker 1: could be split. That could happen. But I have a
- 1:30Speaker 1: feeling that he Lasso is really going to dominate the
- 1:34Speaker 1: entire evening. And I don't know. I was trying to
- 1:37Speaker 1: see if there were Vegas bets on these, like the Oscars.
- 1:41Speaker 1: That's a good question. Well, Variety, do you know the
- 1:45Speaker 1: publication variety? I'm familiar the publication Variety said I was
- 1:50Speaker 1: most likely to win. Oh oh, that gives me. Fine.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Here's the thing. I'm very it is no bullshit. I
- 1:58Speaker 1: know everybody says this, but it is freaking exciting for
- 2:01Speaker 1: little oldbe who dreamed of making movies and TV shows
- 2:05Speaker 1: to be one of the people nominated for Comedy Director
- 2:08Speaker 1: of the Year. I'm very, very very honored by that.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Of course, I want to win, but I'm pretty stoked
- 2:14Speaker 1: just to be invited to the party. Dude, this is
- 2:17Speaker 1: how I'm looking at it. Okay, one, yeah, yeah, it's
- 2:22Speaker 1: cool to be invited to the party and everything like that. Yes,
- 2:25Speaker 1: but in my opinion, go ahead, I've only seen the
- 2:28Speaker 1: ted lassos. Your episode by far, out of all of
- 2:33Speaker 1: the two, of the two others besides yours, is the
- 2:37Speaker 1: more important one and the more and the more and
- 2:41Speaker 1: the more creative one, because you're really it's the second episode,
- 2:45Speaker 1: so you're taking what the pilot did and you're taking
- 2:48Speaker 1: what's gonna happen. Okay, So look, it's like the handoff
- 2:51Speaker 1: to the running back boom. Here Zach run with it.
- 2:55Speaker 1: This is the tools I have. What can you add
- 2:58Speaker 1: everything that you everything that you did, you did in that.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Whoever followed also watched your dailies also freaking said okay,
- 3:09Speaker 1: well we're gonna have to add this now. So it's like,
- 3:12Speaker 1: you know what I mean, you kind of have an
- 3:13Speaker 1: edge just because you create help. Look, yes, that's what
- 3:19Speaker 1: I'm trying to say. So you could you give that
- 3:21Speaker 1: coego back in time and could you call just remember
- 3:25Speaker 1: if you do win, If you do win, it's just
- 3:27Speaker 1: like this. If you do win, it's pronounced paison no, no, no, no,
- 3:32Speaker 1: motherfucker faisaison donald fat. I better hear that in a
- 3:37Speaker 1: different out motherfucker. If I don't hear that in the speech,
- 3:40Speaker 1: I'm gonna be so pissed off. Oh my god, it'll
- 3:43Speaker 1: be like when Turk when JD went to Disneyland without Turk. Mean,
- 3:47Speaker 1: it'll hurt my heart, motherfucker. All right, calm down, do
- 3:50Speaker 1: you know, like we all if you're in the arts. Oh,
- 3:52Speaker 1: back to drinking during the podcast. This is a nice
- 3:55Speaker 1: little don't worry, it's only one thirty in the afternoon.
- 3:58Speaker 1: This is a nice little ip a. It's citricy. I've
- 4:01Speaker 1: learned a few things about myself. I learned that I
- 4:04Speaker 1: like my weed citrusy, and I like my beer citrius.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Are you high as well? No, I'm not. I got
- 4:09Speaker 1: a right dude all day. Okay, this is It's like
- 4:12Speaker 1: a Sam Adams at lunch. Remember those commercial Hemmingway boost
- 4:16Speaker 1: as they remember those, Just like you know the Italians
- 4:20Speaker 1: when they make movies, they drink wine at lunch. You're
- 4:23Speaker 1: like them. I love it, unlike anyone out there who's like,
- 4:26Speaker 1: you know what, it's fucking one a clock. I think
- 4:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna have a beer with my burger for lunch.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Very very very British. The English like to to have
- 4:40Speaker 1: a little a beer sometimes at the pub at lunch.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Do you not drink beer anymore? You know? I used
- 4:46Speaker 1: to drink beer a lot. I used to love i
- 4:49Speaker 1: pas and pale als and um I um, I got
- 4:54Speaker 1: off when I kind of gave up gluten. I stopped
- 4:57Speaker 1: drinking beer. Now they do have a real some really
- 4:59Speaker 1: good They would be a brand called Omission has a
- 5:02Speaker 1: great gluten free pale ale um. But I don't really
- 5:06Speaker 1: drink beer anymore because I miss it. Actually, I love
- 5:09Speaker 1: certain beers, but it makes me very bloated and gives
- 5:11Speaker 1: me acid reflux. So I knew that that wasn't the
- 5:13Speaker 1: best for me. That sucks and it makes me burp. Um. Hey, wait,
- 5:18Speaker 1: I want you What did you say right? Oh you're
- 5:20Speaker 1: on your tear about how I should win and how
- 5:23Speaker 1: you want to be thanked. Oh. What I wanted to
- 5:25Speaker 1: say is, you know, if you're a creative person, your
- 5:27Speaker 1: whole life, you've been thinking of, like daydreaming in the shower,
- 5:30Speaker 1: of holding the holding the shampoo bottle, of what you
- 5:33Speaker 1: would say, And um, I never plan it out because
- 5:38Speaker 1: I just think it's that's I don't like when people
- 5:41Speaker 1: get up there and just read a card. So I'm
- 5:43Speaker 1: just trying to think of like you have thirty seconds,
- 5:45Speaker 1: like how would you how would you say all that
- 5:47Speaker 1: you want to say in thirty seconds? It's pretty true.
- 5:50Speaker 1: I love you so much. Everybody else thank you. Imagine Joell,
- 5:55Speaker 1: can you imagine I get up there and go, oh,
- 5:57Speaker 1: my gosh. I want to thank Bill and Jason so much.
- 6:00Speaker 1: This is this is such an honor and the whole
- 6:01Speaker 1: cast and crew. I really want to spend the rest
- 6:04Speaker 1: of the twenty seconds on Donald's phase on better hear
- 6:08Speaker 1: my name? I better hear my name. If you did that,
- 6:12Speaker 1: not only the not only the laughing, not only the laughing,
- 6:16Speaker 1: and from the audience also your fans would go fucking nuts,
- 6:21Speaker 1: Like now, that is a true broke. So you're saying
- 6:23Speaker 1: I should just spend like, skip my parents, skip my team,
- 6:26Speaker 1: just focus on you. I want to spend this evening
- 6:28Speaker 1: talking about a bromance twenty seconds, a romance like no other. Um.
- 6:37Speaker 1: But second, you out there in Hollywood and in the
- 6:40Speaker 1: rest of the world, you could only hope to have
- 6:43Speaker 1: a relationship like my Oh. I should shame the rest
- 6:46Speaker 1: of the community, shame them for not being to our standards.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Don't you think some of our other close friends will
- 6:53Speaker 1: be bummed if I only thank you. No, No, they
- 6:57Speaker 1: won't be No. I think I'll get it. I think
- 7:01Speaker 1: Raid and will get it in Stockholm, I think so
- 7:03Speaker 1: he won't even know. Dude, he hit me up, man,
- 7:06Speaker 1: he hit me up last I guess it was this
- 7:10Speaker 1: morning last night for him, morning for me. And he
- 7:14Speaker 1: was like, I'm in the pub and some dude had
- 7:17Speaker 1: a Stormtrooper ring on and I have the exact Stormtrooper ring,
- 7:21Speaker 1: but mine was given to me by this dude, Richard,
- 7:23Speaker 1: who was the costume guy on kick Ass Too, when
- 7:26Speaker 1: I was in London, and this guy got the guy
- 7:29Speaker 1: that was sitting next to Raid and got his from
- 7:32Speaker 1: a store in London, so they could have got it
- 7:35Speaker 1: at the same store. It was freaking pretty awesome to
- 7:38Speaker 1: want talk to you, to be dressing up your children
- 7:42Speaker 1: for Halloween and such. Yeah, of course, whatever they did
- 7:46Speaker 1: their kids, are they gonna be up their childhood? You
- 7:49Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Are you gonna dress up alongside them?
- 7:51Speaker 1: I guess it is really my question. You know, my
- 7:54Speaker 1: wife and I have done it to a certain degree. Um,
- 8:01Speaker 1: my kids always crush Halloween, you know what I mean?
- 8:03Speaker 1: Wild or crush is Halloween? What does she want to be?
- 8:06Speaker 1: Has I come up yet or to her it has
- 8:08Speaker 1: You know who she really likes right now is Kamala Harris.
- 8:10Speaker 1: She wrote a letter to Kamala that was so fucking
- 8:15Speaker 1: It was like, Hey, Kamala Harris, my name. I I
- 8:18Speaker 1: just want you to know. I think you're really smart.
- 8:21Speaker 1: I'm smart too. You know I'm smart too. Um jells
- 8:28Speaker 1: holds in her tears in Oh God, am I actually kind?
- 8:30Speaker 1: That's so beautiful? But it was like like she she
- 8:33Speaker 1: she wrote the letter. I can't say it forbade them,
- 8:35Speaker 1: but she wrote a bunch of them. She won't run
- 8:37Speaker 1: to Kamala Harris. She wrote one to a grandmother, to
- 8:39Speaker 1: a g mom to was this a school thing or
- 8:43Speaker 1: just on her own? No, she's just really, she's really
- 8:45Speaker 1: you know, the school that we put our kids in
- 8:49Speaker 1: is really good for them and is teaching them, uh
- 8:52Speaker 1: to express themselves. And she came home she's like, you know,
- 8:55Speaker 1: I'm a writer. You know, my daughter thinks she's a
- 8:57Speaker 1: lot of things. She thinks she's an athlete, she thinks
- 8:59Speaker 1: she is a dancer, she's a singer, and she she's
- 9:03Speaker 1: a writer, you know. But but you know, I am
- 9:06Speaker 1: all for all of that. And the fact that she
- 9:09Speaker 1: came home from school and her teacher has her inspired
- 9:13Speaker 1: and has her wanting to be a writer is really awesome.
- 9:16Speaker 1: And so you teachers out there, look at the difference
- 9:19Speaker 1: you make in a kid's life. Truly, no doubt. All right, Okay,
- 9:25Speaker 1: So I got one other thing that I want to
- 9:27Speaker 1: talk about, speaking of children and stuff like that. Go ahead.
- 9:30Speaker 1: I remember how I was talking about when me and
- 9:32Speaker 1: my wife get together, now it's a party. I didn't
- 9:34Speaker 1: mean like, I don't mean first of all, I don't
- 9:36Speaker 1: mean like we have a bunch of other people in
- 9:37Speaker 1: the room. You mean that Casey is in a phase
- 9:40Speaker 1: where she is meaning you where your libido is occasionally
- 9:46Speaker 1: not you know what I mean, like hould on when
- 9:49Speaker 1: she wants when it's time to when. Look, okay, So
- 9:51Speaker 1: this is what I've learned. Quality, quality and quantity are
- 9:56Speaker 1: two different things. Quality is way better than quantity, all
- 10:00Speaker 1: though I really like quantity. Quality is fire house. Quality
- 10:08Speaker 1: is fire right, And so do you think before you
- 10:11Speaker 1: before you go on, do you think there's anything you've
- 10:14Speaker 1: done to change in such a way that absolutely not,
- 10:17Speaker 1: I'm the worst. I am the worst, like she does
- 10:23Speaker 1: everything when it comes to when it comes dude, It's
- 10:28Speaker 1: like if you had a fucking uh wife, it would
- 10:31Speaker 1: be the same fucking thing. Do you cook, Zach No? Right? Uh?
- 10:36Speaker 1: Do you clean? Zach? No? Okay, right then and there
- 10:41Speaker 1: you and me, well I cook, But right with the
- 10:43Speaker 1: not cleaning part. You and I are exactly alike, exactly alike,
- 10:49Speaker 1: exactly alike. This is an issue with them. Of course
- 10:54Speaker 1: I play with my children. But listen, listen, this is
- 10:56Speaker 1: an issue in relationships. If you don't clean, you are
- 11:02Speaker 1: hate like. This is like if I can I get
- 11:05Speaker 1: up mmmmmm from all the housewives or wives out there
- 11:10Speaker 1: who spend time putting their energy into making their home
- 11:14Speaker 1: spot listen, can I get up mmm? If a motherfucker
- 11:18Speaker 1: don't clean, that motherfucker is an asshole in a lot
- 11:22Speaker 1: of ways. Hello, I'm one of them. I'm just putting
- 11:25Speaker 1: it out there. Okay, So I have done nothing, So
- 11:30Speaker 1: why do you think? What do you what do you?
- 11:31Speaker 1: What do you think has shifted that she's now feeling
- 11:35Speaker 1: you with smidgtioned more and getting a little more naughty.
- 11:41Speaker 1: I don't know what it is, man, Don't suck it up.
- 11:43Speaker 1: I know whatever it is. I'm like, don't fix it,
- 11:46Speaker 1: but I got listen. I'm like, I can't do this
- 11:50Speaker 1: not helping her out with shit stuff much longer, or
- 11:55Speaker 1: I think this wave that sing the shore. Yeah, uh,
- 12:03Speaker 1: it's it's it'll end. Okay, now listen, I'm only in
- 12:07Speaker 1: town till Tuesday. Do you need help with the wirly bird?
- 12:10Speaker 1: Oh my god, dude, the wirly bird. I will wear
- 12:14Speaker 1: my bows back. I will make my I will wear
- 12:17Speaker 1: my bows noise canceling headphones and a sleep mask. What
- 12:23Speaker 1: is the wirly bird? That's the one he talked about
- 12:25Speaker 1: where you with Casey Kiman and said, no, where you
- 12:28Speaker 1: arch like a table? And this is this is this
- 12:31Speaker 1: is something that Scrubs came up with. Um it's mentioned.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Um Sarah, right, Sarah, now that ellis sorry, Elliott, now
- 12:38Speaker 1: that she's in her very sexual phase, tries the worly
- 12:42Speaker 1: watching I was watching Titans, which is a show on
- 12:49Speaker 1: HBO Max. It's a show about all of the superheroes. Uh,
- 12:55Speaker 1: the sidekicks and they become superheroes. Right. They mentioned the
- 13:01Speaker 1: whirlybird on that show. The latest episode they mentioned. Not
- 13:04Speaker 1: only do they mention the Whirlybird sexual way. Probably no,
- 13:08Speaker 1: it isn't a sexual way. This guy is watching two.
- 13:12Speaker 1: This guy is watching two people go at it like
- 13:15Speaker 1: at a peep show, and they say, we'll do the Whirlybird,
- 13:19Speaker 1: but that'll cost you extra, and the girl goes, yeah,
- 13:22Speaker 1: the Whirlybird costs extra. Well, I won't charge you for
- 13:25Speaker 1: my participation in the whirly Bird. So wow, Like Scrubs
- 13:28Speaker 1: was be having some kind of weird like resurges. Maybe
- 13:31Speaker 1: people are starting to reference it more. But the Stephen
- 13:33Speaker 1: Colbert on his show last night mentioned Doctor Acula and
- 13:36Speaker 1: I was like, now, wait a second, that's not your joke. Yes,
- 13:40Speaker 1: the whole doctor Acula bit, but was it Scrubs related
- 13:44Speaker 1: or was he just sort of stealing Dracula Doctor doctor Acula?
- 13:48Speaker 1: And I'm like that Scrubs did it first. Oh that's lame.
- 13:53Speaker 1: I hope he didn't steal that. I hope this is
- 13:55Speaker 1: something that he just came. I don't know if Stephen
- 13:58Speaker 1: Colbert's ever watched Scrubs, but just put it out in
- 14:01Speaker 1: the ether. If you did, dude, that's our ship. Bro. Yeah,
- 14:05Speaker 1: well listen, in this episode, JD invents the go Bro.
- 14:09Speaker 1: He doesn't I wrote that same I wrote the same thing. Alright,
- 14:14Speaker 1: let's get into it. Let's get into a five, six, seven,
- 14:16Speaker 1: eight stories about show we made about a bunch of
- 14:22Speaker 1: doctor nurses stories. So yetta around here, yatoo around here.
- 14:40Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie to you. I thought we ran
- 14:42Speaker 1: out of comedy. I thought this show was gonna be
- 14:44Speaker 1: I thought this episode was not gonna be funny. When
- 14:47Speaker 1: it started off, I was like, Ah, it's okay. But
- 14:50Speaker 1: by the end of it, I gotta tell you, bro,
- 14:53Speaker 1: I was laughing out loud. All right, But let me
- 14:55Speaker 1: ask you guys something, all right, because I thought this
- 14:57Speaker 1: was a little weird. Now we should mention this is
- 14:58Speaker 1: written by Angela and Thistle, who a very very talented
- 15:01Speaker 1: African American female comedy writer. What did you both as
- 15:05Speaker 1: African Americans think about this whole Cox sort of calling
- 15:09Speaker 1: out Turk on his level of blackness. I thought it
- 15:13Speaker 1: was odd, But maybe I'm wrong. I think that's every like.
- 15:17Speaker 1: I think that's a lot of African American males. Uh,
- 15:24Speaker 1: what's the word I'm looking for. It's not a weakness,
- 15:27Speaker 1: but it's like a worry that they're gonna be treat
- 15:31Speaker 1: that you're not black enough, right, what I mean, So
- 15:33Speaker 1: you're saying it's a real concern. I say it's a
- 15:36Speaker 1: concern for some people. I do believe some people feel like,
- 15:40Speaker 1: you know, um, you know, I'm not I'm not as
- 15:46Speaker 1: connected to the people as I would like to be
- 15:51Speaker 1: to my people as I would like to be, you know,
- 15:54Speaker 1: but at the end of the day, there's no way
- 15:56Speaker 1: anyone can tell you you're not black. It was just,
- 15:59Speaker 1: I know, but wasn't it weird? I mean, it just
- 16:01Speaker 1: felt maybe it was just the maybe it was just
- 16:04Speaker 1: a bit dated, but the idea that I mean, obviously
- 16:07Speaker 1: clearly Cox would never do this today, But it just
- 16:09Speaker 1: felt a little odd that the whole, the whole arc
- 16:11Speaker 1: of you and Cox in this story is him challenging
- 16:16Speaker 1: how black you are. Yeah, but you know what, when
- 16:19Speaker 1: you feel like that, you got to ask yourself, well,
- 16:21Speaker 1: what how much have I get given back to the community?
- 16:24Speaker 1: How much have I, you know, contributed to my people? Yeah,
- 16:29Speaker 1: but I mean in the episode, it's not that I
- 16:31Speaker 1: mean just yeah, it is in a lot of ways.
- 16:32Speaker 1: It is. Turk's whole thing is you know, I'm cool
- 16:36Speaker 1: because I'm black. All the bullshit that you guys have
- 16:39Speaker 1: all the bullshit that white people have, how they've oppressed
- 16:44Speaker 1: black people. God has given us coolness and therefore there's
- 16:50Speaker 1: no way I'm I'm cheese. Dude, your cheese. There's no
- 16:53Speaker 1: way I'm not I'm cheese because I'm black. And well,
- 16:58Speaker 1: what are your thoughts on this? Um for the time period,
- 17:02Speaker 1: it makes a lot of sense if you look at
- 17:04Speaker 1: a white flight where there's a lot of like people
- 17:07Speaker 1: leaving the inner city, right and that becomes like a
- 17:09Speaker 1: black cultural hub them because only black people. I was
- 17:12Speaker 1: raised in the Burbs. I certainly had thoughts like this
- 17:14Speaker 1: of like, where am I black enough? What does that mean?
- 17:17Speaker 1: And and at the end of the day, like coming
- 17:19Speaker 1: out of that decade, though, there was a lot of
- 17:21Speaker 1: people like you just are like, you don't have to
- 17:23Speaker 1: there's how to prove it, there's no you have to clear.
- 17:27Speaker 1: You just get to be black. And that's not so.
- 17:29Speaker 1: I would say yes to your point back, it is dated,
- 17:32Speaker 1: but in that era, it was a very true and
- 17:35Speaker 1: genuine feeling. I remember a kid in my high school
- 17:38Speaker 1: who was very smart and he hung out with all
- 17:44Speaker 1: the white kids and he was um. He would definitely
- 17:48Speaker 1: say that he felt ostracized from some of the other
- 17:51Speaker 1: black kids at the high school. Oh dude, you get
- 17:54Speaker 1: ostracised for being a light skin. And then and and
- 17:57Speaker 1: you know what I mean, like like straight up like
- 18:00Speaker 1: for real man or dark skin, it doesn't matter, man,
- 18:03Speaker 1: It's just prejudice within within our own communities. Man. I
- 18:08Speaker 1: remember my brother. My brother would be like, well, you're adopted,
- 18:11Speaker 1: and I'd be like, why how am I adopted? He's like,
- 18:14Speaker 1: he's like, because look at your skin. You're white, because
- 18:18Speaker 1: because my skin was lighter than his, dude when we
- 18:20Speaker 1: were kids. Men. But the opposite of that is like,
- 18:22Speaker 1: did that guy choose to have any black because there's
- 18:25Speaker 1: like also, you know, I certainly run into black people
- 18:28Speaker 1: who don't want anything to do with other black people,
- 18:30Speaker 1: and that's suspects. That's like what's happening here? And why?
- 18:34Speaker 1: You know? I was looking at my instagram right and
- 18:36Speaker 1: my instagram is me and a bunch of white people.
- 18:39Speaker 1: My wife's white, Zack's white, you know what I mean. Like,
- 18:43Speaker 1: and then and then and then then when I dive
- 18:45Speaker 1: in even deeper, it's like, all right, there are black
- 18:48Speaker 1: men on my page, but the amount of black women
- 18:51Speaker 1: on my page, it's like, my mom, it's like my mom,
- 18:56Speaker 1: and that's pretty much it. I think Taraji's up there.
- 19:00Speaker 1: I got Taragi up there, and then like that covers
- 19:02Speaker 1: a lot of ground, Like it's kind of gets you
- 19:04Speaker 1: a lot of extra like bus Taraji gets you extra points,
- 19:07Speaker 1: of course, but you know what I mean, It's like
- 19:13Speaker 1: when you listen, man, there's no way anyone can ever
- 19:17Speaker 1: question the fact whether I'm black or not. I know
- 19:19Speaker 1: I'm black, you know what I mean, Like kiss my ass, dude,
- 19:22Speaker 1: Like if that if that's your argument, if that's your argument,
- 19:25Speaker 1: well yeah, got white friend and I'm black. Have you
- 19:30Speaker 1: ever had a white person challenge your blackness before? Because
- 19:33Speaker 1: I have, Well that well that it's it's it's just
- 19:36Speaker 1: weird to have that coming from a white person, you
- 19:38Speaker 1: know what I mean? How can you? How? Um? They
- 19:45Speaker 1: basically we're saying that I maybe she's basically like, oh,
- 19:50Speaker 1: well you're not black, And I was like, but both
- 19:53Speaker 1: of my parents are black and I have an afro,
- 19:55Speaker 1: like I just don't know what more unique like I
- 19:58Speaker 1: And then it was weird because then I had I
- 20:00Speaker 1: talk to my friends. I'm like, why is this bothering me?
- 20:01Speaker 1: Because it shouldn't have phased me at all like this
- 20:03Speaker 1: person doesn't know me, Like they certainly don't know anything
- 20:06Speaker 1: about my culture or my history. Um, but I hadn't.
- 20:09Speaker 1: I was I was mad about it. Yeah, you know
- 20:14Speaker 1: what you know, OJ kind of fucked it up when
- 20:16Speaker 1: he said I'm not black, I'm OJ man. He that
- 20:18Speaker 1: kind of fucked up a lot of a lot of
- 20:20Speaker 1: a lot of shit, you know what I mean. It's like, wait,
- 20:24Speaker 1: what did you just say? Dude? It's like, whatever happened
- 20:27Speaker 1: to him? Well? How about this? How about this? He
- 20:36Speaker 1: got black real quick. M It took a minute, but
- 20:41Speaker 1: it did happen. How about that? Um, let's talk about
- 20:44Speaker 1: Optimist Prime the mural. We are very talented painters. I
- 20:48Speaker 1: don't know where j d am mind doing all the worker?
- 20:51Speaker 1: Are you helping? We've we've made a very very beautiful
- 20:54Speaker 1: Optimist Prime mural in the baby's room. I for of all,
- 21:01Speaker 1: If anybody, I just want to put up a little asterix.
- 21:03Speaker 1: If you hear chainsaws. They've decided to take down a
- 21:06Speaker 1: tree next door to me. They started a second we started.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Is it a magical tree? No, it's just right around
- 21:13Speaker 1: the time we hit record. They were like, let's do it, man,
- 21:15Speaker 1: Let's take down the tree. So I apologize, Um, is it?
- 21:20Speaker 1: Is it a green tree? I think it's a dead tree.
- 21:22Speaker 1: I don't think people take down nice trees. Oh okay,
- 21:26Speaker 1: but if you but if you listeners hear chainsaws, it's
- 21:28Speaker 1: my fault. I'm sorry. Um, what were you saying, Optimist Prime. So,
- 21:33Speaker 1: if anybody knows me, you know that I grew up
- 21:35Speaker 1: on the Transformers cartoon. Yeah, g I Joe. Those were
- 21:39Speaker 1: my jams growing up. He man. Also, um, and Saturday,
- 21:44Speaker 1: not Saturday mornings, but after school on Channel eleven w
- 21:48Speaker 1: p i X shout out in New York City. Yeah,
- 21:50Speaker 1: picks picks remember that? Remember pick picks the video game.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Only people who grew up in New York our age
- 21:57Speaker 1: no pick pick picks, picks, picks, picks, picks picks. Um. Anyway,
- 22:02Speaker 1: so Optimist Prime has a you know, a really Uh
- 22:07Speaker 1: it's it. Transformers is a part of my childhood. You know,
- 22:11Speaker 1: who is your favorite transformer growing up? It was See
- 22:16Speaker 1: so cliff Jumper was my favorite transformer growing up. He
- 22:18Speaker 1: was kind of rough. He was kind of like Bumblebee. Uh.
- 22:22Speaker 1: They make him a sucker in all the movies and stuff,
- 22:24Speaker 1: like he gets killed in the movie, but in the cartoon.
- 22:27Speaker 1: He survives in the nineteen eighty six cartoon him Jazz.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Have you've seen every Transformer incarnation. I'm gonna be honest,
- 22:37Speaker 1: some of the Michael Bass well, all of the Michael
- 22:39Speaker 1: Bays stuff. I can't watch anything. It's kind of I
- 22:43Speaker 1: can't do it. I'm sorry, and I'm sorry. I really
- 22:46Speaker 1: find it unwatchable. And there's no disrespect to Michael Bay,
- 22:49Speaker 1: but I think that No, he's clearly a very good filmmaker.
- 22:52Speaker 1: I just don't want to want to watch Metal Fight Metal.
- 22:54Speaker 1: I have no interest in that. Well, you can't even
- 22:57Speaker 1: see the Metal Fight, That's what I'm saying. It's so close.
- 22:59Speaker 1: I just I've said this before. I think it's like
- 23:01Speaker 1: the ultimate example to me of when an action movie's
- 23:03Speaker 1: not working. When I don't even know what the hell's
- 23:05Speaker 1: going on, I can't follow it. Yeah, anyway, So, but
- 23:10Speaker 1: the cartoon, if you watched the cartoon, even to this day,
- 23:14Speaker 1: it still holds up. Not the not the cartoon television
- 23:19Speaker 1: show because that's uh dumbed down version of what the movie,
- 23:25Speaker 1: but the nineteen eighty six cartoon Transformers movie. Well, maybe
- 23:29Speaker 1: if you, if you, if you have kids, show them
- 23:31Speaker 1: in the nineteen eighties. So you can't well you can't
- 23:33Speaker 1: why it's very Violentprian, Oh, it's viry violent and there's
- 23:38Speaker 1: curse words in it. Oh, so it was made for adults. No,
- 23:42Speaker 1: it was made for the kids that grew up on Transformers.
- 23:45Speaker 1: So this is a quick and then I promise you
- 23:48Speaker 1: listeners will get back into scrubs. This is we need
- 23:50Speaker 1: to start scrubs. All I've said is optimist prime. But
- 23:54Speaker 1: so back in the day, Transformers was a big product,
- 23:58Speaker 1: and it had all of these episodes that were on television.
- 24:01Speaker 1: I think it was almost like one hundred episodes at
- 24:03Speaker 1: this point, and they wanted to and it was the
- 24:06Speaker 1: show was made to introduce new toys to the kids.
- 24:11Speaker 1: And so now they have all of these toys and
- 24:13Speaker 1: they're like, we have a whole new line. We're gonna
- 24:16Speaker 1: kill We're gonna we need to erase everything and introduce
- 24:20Speaker 1: this new line. Let's make a movie and do it.
- 24:23Speaker 1: What we're gonna do in the movie, though, is we're
- 24:24Speaker 1: gonna kill off everybody. Everybody that was in the show.
- 24:28Speaker 1: We're gonna kill them off except for you know, a few,
- 24:32Speaker 1: and then we're gonna introduce this new line. They create
- 24:36Speaker 1: the movie. The movie comes out, kids go and see
- 24:39Speaker 1: the movie and cry when Optimus Prime, the leader of
- 24:44Speaker 1: the autobots, is destroyed by Megatron. Cry cry in the theater.
- 24:53Speaker 1: People walk out, don't even finish the movie. It's not
- 24:59Speaker 1: appropriate for kids. So much violence in it, man, so
- 25:02Speaker 1: much violence in it. Now, it's such a fucking awesome
- 25:05Speaker 1: Wasn't there a competitor called Gobots? Still to this day,
- 25:08Speaker 1: I still feel like gobots never got a shot and
- 25:11Speaker 1: they and their transformed their transformation was way more futuristic
- 25:17Speaker 1: like cop tour and uh, what was it? Cyclone? Was
- 25:21Speaker 1: a cyclone or something like that, where he was a
- 25:24Speaker 1: cycle Enough fun transforming robots. Why am I putting the
- 25:27Speaker 1: crib together? You guys are cuddling in bed, and I
- 25:31Speaker 1: because you've got nowhere else to go. I'm got nowhere
- 25:35Speaker 1: else to go. Um. It is funny though, when when
- 25:39Speaker 1: when you hear me on the baby monitor and you're
- 25:42Speaker 1: and you and she's like you go this time, like
- 25:44Speaker 1: I'm the baby. So JD invented the gobro He straps
- 25:50Speaker 1: a camera to a helmet, Yes, to work so he
- 25:54Speaker 1: can watch what what is now? What is the reason
- 25:57Speaker 1: for him? No, he's making it for his mom. Um. Right,
- 26:00Speaker 1: we've never seen Jade's mom ever. No, for some reason, Um,
- 26:07Speaker 1: he's gonna make a video journal for his mom of
- 26:10Speaker 1: what a day in his life is like. Yes, um,
- 26:14Speaker 1: it doesn't last long. We see Kelso stealing ice cream
- 26:17Speaker 1: from the cafeteria, we see uh everyone. H Cox grabs
- 26:23Speaker 1: the camera and says, Um, I'm gonna be I'm gonna
- 26:27Speaker 1: tell your mom that I'm mad at her Uterus for
- 26:29Speaker 1: making you when he goes bad Uterus, bad Uterus, and
- 26:32Speaker 1: then I go she just had up his direct to
- 26:35Speaker 1: me last month. But I'm sure I could edit that
- 26:37Speaker 1: part out. Can I say one thing? I never realized
- 26:42Speaker 1: how much Lonnie was on the show. Also, holy cow
- 26:44Speaker 1: and Linnie. Lonnie's supposed to be a really good basketball
- 26:47Speaker 1: player all of a sudden, that's all bullshit and we'll
- 26:49Speaker 1: get to that when we get all right. But anyway,
- 26:52Speaker 1: the janitor kidnaps me and puts me in the water
- 26:55Speaker 1: tank on the roof, right where I could die. Let's
- 27:00Speaker 1: be honest, Yes I could drown. Yes, Um, this was
- 27:04Speaker 1: an excuse to have the janitor me. I don't know
- 27:09Speaker 1: why I'm out of it. Might be you know, a
- 27:11Speaker 1: k one time Bill was like, I was so fried,
- 27:14Speaker 1: I think, and Bill was like, we're gonna write one
- 27:18Speaker 1: where you're barely in it, um, so you can just
- 27:21Speaker 1: And then clearly I think it may have been because
- 27:23Speaker 1: he was kind of like, we're gonna give you some
- 27:25Speaker 1: days off just to like catch up on rest where
- 27:29Speaker 1: you're not in an episode at all. I'm not, I
- 27:30Speaker 1: mean the fucking water tank about to die. Yeah, it's interesting,
- 27:34Speaker 1: you know, it would have been it would have been
- 27:36Speaker 1: a very cool show to watch. Also if Neil was
- 27:40Speaker 1: the voiceover. The theme of the show is feeling like
- 27:44Speaker 1: you're not you know, uh necessary in yeah, or making
- 27:49Speaker 1: any difference or making any difference in the in the world,
- 27:52Speaker 1: right and they you know the janitor and when I
- 27:55Speaker 1: when you think about it, like the janitor on Scrubs
- 27:58Speaker 1: is a height It's a heightened character because I can't
- 28:03Speaker 1: sit here and say I know that many janitors when
- 28:09Speaker 1: I go to work or when I go when I
- 28:12Speaker 1: was going to school or anything. So it's like, you know,
- 28:16Speaker 1: this character that we're following, even as the ensemble is
- 28:21Speaker 1: it's kind of heightened because we never really get to
- 28:24Speaker 1: know this character in real life, you know, right well,
- 28:26Speaker 1: And also he's a he's a liar, he's a pathological liar.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Well we learned that. We learned that, well, we know
- 28:32Speaker 1: that through five seasons. But in this episode, when you're
- 28:34Speaker 1: finally in his head, he just talks about how much
- 28:36Speaker 1: he loves liar. Yeah, he just fucks with He just
- 28:41Speaker 1: can't tell the truth, right, which really sets up the
- 28:45Speaker 1: fact that so much of the shit he says isn't true.
- 28:48Speaker 1: But then sometimes we see it, like like we see
- 28:51Speaker 1: his squirrel army, like we see the fact that he
- 28:54Speaker 1: makes um that he turned all his tools into eating
- 29:00Speaker 1: things like the drill fork, and we see and we
- 29:02Speaker 1: also find out that he really does want to make
- 29:05Speaker 1: a difference at the place he works, you know what
- 29:07Speaker 1: I mean, Yes, and he and and and in his
- 29:09Speaker 1: mind even just holding the dude's legs down that was
- 29:14Speaker 1: so big for him that he had to tell everybody.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Neil crushed this episode. But yeah, we should
- 29:20Speaker 1: have of course mentioned the us that Neil Flynn is
- 29:22Speaker 1: just so funny and he should have his own show.
- 29:25Speaker 1: I mean, I know, even in the middle, he was
- 29:28Speaker 1: you know, supporting. I guess, I don't I guess he
- 29:31Speaker 1: was a lead. I don't I don't know, but I
- 29:32Speaker 1: think someone needs to build. I think Neil is developing
- 29:35Speaker 1: a show, uh for for himself to be the lead,
- 29:39Speaker 1: but he should be the leader, but he should be
- 29:40Speaker 1: the lead of entertaining. Yeah, he's he's really good man,
- 29:44Speaker 1: and he's got great comedic timing, better timing, and no
- 29:47Speaker 1: one has better improv skills. And he also brings the
- 29:50Speaker 1: drama at the end of this, I got goosebumps when
- 29:53Speaker 1: at the last beat that we'll get to. Yeah, well,
- 29:57Speaker 1: that's another thing I was going to say, because this
- 29:59Speaker 1: whole episode, it doesn't necessarily you don't see that. I
- 30:02Speaker 1: didn't see that one coming. I didn't see that emotion
- 30:04Speaker 1: at the end coming because you never get emotion from him. Really,
- 30:07Speaker 1: it's just a it's only a smidget of a second
- 30:11Speaker 1: in the whole show, Like in the whole if you
- 30:14Speaker 1: were to look at the whole show, it literally is
- 30:19Speaker 1: a fraction of what the show is. But you still
- 30:23Speaker 1: at the end, you still like, you know, heartbreaking, Yeah,
- 30:26Speaker 1: you know it's a heartbreaking, and we'll just talk about
- 30:28Speaker 1: it now, even though it's the end. Is that he
- 30:29Speaker 1: doesn't even hear the thank you. No, that's what give
- 30:34Speaker 1: me goosebumps all over my body? Is that he still
- 30:37Speaker 1: he still ends the episode in the day not feeling
- 30:40Speaker 1: appreciated at all, when when all the guy wanted to
- 30:42Speaker 1: say the second is computer was up, was thank you.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Yeah it's still moving. Huh. Yeah, So the gentleman has
- 30:51Speaker 1: locked in syndrome. Which there's an amazing movie by the
- 30:55Speaker 1: way about this. What is large, Joel? What was that
- 30:58Speaker 1: movie where the locked in syndrome is your brain is
- 31:00Speaker 1: fully fine, but you can't move at all. And people
- 31:04Speaker 1: can move a cursor. Some people can move a cursor
- 31:07Speaker 1: with their eyes. So he's able to move the cursor
- 31:10Speaker 1: with his eye. Movement attracts his eye movement and so
- 31:13Speaker 1: he can type out or click on words and the
- 31:15Speaker 1: computer will speak for him. Um, there's an incredible movie
- 31:20Speaker 1: made by Julian Schnabel. But what if you can't spell?
- 31:26Speaker 1: If you can't spell, I bet, I bet they would
- 31:30Speaker 1: have just like pages of most common words. Sorry. The
- 31:34Speaker 1: Diving Bell in the Butterfly is an amazing film. I
- 31:37Speaker 1: highly recommend you all, and and I believe it's a
- 31:39Speaker 1: true story, Joel, will you double check? Yeah? Based off
- 31:42Speaker 1: the nineteen nine seven memoir of Jean Dominique. Do you
- 31:46Speaker 1: know this story? It all though? I don't, all right,
- 31:49Speaker 1: and just a short version. It's like the man has
- 31:51Speaker 1: the true story locked in syndrome. And this is before
- 31:54Speaker 1: a fancy computer eye tracking technology, and the only thing
- 31:57Speaker 1: he could do was blink one eye, and he would
- 32:01Speaker 1: have an aid hold up letters and wait for him
- 32:06Speaker 1: to blink, so she would be like a B C.
- 32:09Speaker 1: He'd blink, Okay, it's the letter C. And he learned
- 32:12Speaker 1: to communicate that way. His brain was fully one, but
- 32:15Speaker 1: he could. Um. I think that they learned shorthand to
- 32:22Speaker 1: do it. Um. I don't know, I don't, I don't know.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Watch the movie, it's incredible, Julian Schomblement. But he eventually
- 32:29Speaker 1: wrote a book like that. Wow, he blinked out a
- 32:34Speaker 1: book that's his story. Amazing bestseller obviously. I mean, the
- 32:40Speaker 1: movie is amazing. If you're listening to this, watch The
- 32:43Speaker 1: Diving Belt and the Butterflies. He's died ten days after
- 32:47Speaker 1: the book's publication. Wow. Wow. But but what's incredible is
- 32:52Speaker 1: what's so scary is that people don't know. People assume
- 32:55Speaker 1: his brain dead. Right, He can't move, he can't movie,
- 32:57Speaker 1: he can't communicate, he can can't say no, please, no,
- 33:00Speaker 1: no no. Does he do you feel pain? I don't
- 33:04Speaker 1: remember the specifics, but he's one hundred your brain, his
- 33:07Speaker 1: brain is one hundred. They call it locked insidram because
- 33:09Speaker 1: your brain is his brain was one hundred percent. He
- 33:11Speaker 1: just couldn't communicate at all. Oh that's fucking Then you
- 33:13Speaker 1: feel Then you definitely feel pain. If that's the case,
- 33:17Speaker 1: I don't remember. I don't remember. I'm sure all cases
- 33:20Speaker 1: are different. I don't remember. In his particular case, if
- 33:22Speaker 1: he felt pain, that would be the worst to be. Yeah,
- 33:25Speaker 1: it's a nightmare. Though. It's a nightmare. But that's what's
- 33:27Speaker 1: so cool about the story is that they finally figured
- 33:29Speaker 1: out a nurse I believe was like all he could
- 33:32Speaker 1: do is blink, and they like figured out. So this
- 33:34Speaker 1: gentleman in the in our story, Um, it's it's it's
- 33:38Speaker 1: you know, it's it's a more current day. It's the
- 33:40Speaker 1: two thousands. And he can move a cursor around by
- 33:44Speaker 1: that it tracking his eyes. Um, the janitor has the
- 33:49Speaker 1: voice over and he calls you black Kojack and scary
- 33:52Speaker 1: nurse wife. Yes, and now he realizes that he can
- 33:56Speaker 1: get past anyone with kindness. So we're compliments, right right,
- 34:02Speaker 1: you know, with kindness compliments. Yeah, so he says something
- 34:06Speaker 1: nice about Carla and then he moves on to Kelso
- 34:12Speaker 1: and he's almost free from having to explain where he
- 34:16Speaker 1: was because he wasn't at work, because he has placed
- 34:19Speaker 1: you in the water tower. He's placed JD and water
- 34:21Speaker 1: tower and he's almost free. And Turk asks, hey, where's JD.
- 34:31Speaker 1: I don't know what does he say? I don't know.
- 34:33Speaker 1: I think he went I don't remember. Oh, you know,
- 34:37Speaker 1: but you do the Carlton dance? Yes, now I've never
- 34:43Speaker 1: seen you do the Carlton or you know. I know
- 34:45Speaker 1: Alfonso Rivera is credited for making this dance very famous.
- 34:50Speaker 1: But wasn't it the dance that Courtney Cox did in
- 34:52Speaker 1: the Bruce Springsteen video when she's Molly that's what Molly
- 34:55Speaker 1: Ringwalld did intends And the breakfast Club it's just kind
- 34:59Speaker 1: of I was sorry, that's what I mean. Breakfast club. Yeah,
- 35:01Speaker 1: it's what all white people. Oh, it's the white people dance. Yes,
- 35:05Speaker 1: Eddie Murphy. Eddie Murphy makes it famous enough. Eddie Murphy
- 35:10Speaker 1: makes it famous. And I think, doesn't he make it
- 35:13Speaker 1: famous in Raw? Doesn't he make it famous in raw
- 35:16Speaker 1: with the white ras. That's Deli delirious is red but
- 35:25Speaker 1: the white man's over bit and he does he even
- 35:27Speaker 1: does He's like, y'all got this dance. He even does
- 35:32Speaker 1: the ship all right. Well, Alfonso made it famous, but
- 35:36Speaker 1: uh but I remember Courtney Cox doing it, and that
- 35:39Speaker 1: Bruce Springsteen early early, one of the first music videos
- 35:44Speaker 1: was Bruce Bree Started Fire. It wasn't even a video,
- 35:47Speaker 1: it was just a concert video where he pulls Courtney Cox,
- 35:51Speaker 1: not yet famous Courtney Cox up on stage. Yeah, my Beard,
- 35:56Speaker 1: I say, is definitely the pharmacist. It's taken five seasons
- 36:00Speaker 1: for me to prove it. He at five oh two
- 36:02Speaker 1: if you're following this uh um investigation along with me,
- 36:07Speaker 1: at five minutes and two seconds in, Beard Say is
- 36:10Speaker 1: standing inside the pharmacist window and and working. He's the pharmacist, okay,
- 36:17Speaker 1: or he could just be no checking to see no,
- 36:21Speaker 1: because other times we've researched this, he's been but he's
- 36:25Speaker 1: just he's been in that room before. But bro, he's
- 36:27Speaker 1: mingling back there. This time. He's at the desk. He's
- 36:31Speaker 1: the pharmacist. He's obviously not a very good pharmacist because
- 36:39Speaker 1: he's always wandering around the hospital sometimes he's sometimes in
- 36:44Speaker 1: the ICU. Dude, Yeah, because the pharmacists doing and I know,
- 36:48Speaker 1: I guess too, I guess I don't know. We need
- 36:52Speaker 1: a doctor to answer. Why would the pharmacists be wandering
- 36:54Speaker 1: all over the hospital. Yeah, we're gonna have the pharmacists
- 37:02Speaker 1: come talk to you for a second. Like it doesn't
- 37:04Speaker 1: sound right, doesn't And also like why none of the
- 37:06Speaker 1: prescriptions being filled because the pharmacists is wandering around the
- 37:09Speaker 1: fucking hospital, Like, dude, get in your fucking booth and
- 37:12Speaker 1: fill these prescriptions. Isn't the pharmacists like such is the
- 37:17Speaker 1: pharmacist is something that needs to be disrupted. It's never
- 37:21Speaker 1: a good experience. Do you find that. Have you ever
- 37:25Speaker 1: had an easy nothing was wrong? Everything was quick and
- 37:30Speaker 1: easy at the pharmacy. Now, I just hate when it's
- 37:34Speaker 1: judgmental when like you, they're like, you don't need these pills.
- 37:39Speaker 1: They're when they're handing you the pills and they're like
- 37:42Speaker 1: when they're handing you the pills and they've got that
- 37:44Speaker 1: face like that's when it's like, fuck you, dude, what
- 37:53Speaker 1: are you getting where you're getting judgment? You don't don't
- 37:55Speaker 1: worry about what I'm no. I'm just saying you no,
- 37:57Speaker 1: there's all these things that are disrupting everything. Like on
- 38:01Speaker 1: my street in New York, there's on in my whole area.
- 38:04Speaker 1: There's several different companies that are doing this with the dentist,
- 38:07Speaker 1: because who likes when the dentist it's like the worst experience.
- 38:10Speaker 1: We all know, it's just like weird. They're like now
- 38:13Speaker 1: they're making them like almost like a retail storefront that
- 38:15Speaker 1: looks beautiful and like a new take on the dentist,
- 38:18Speaker 1: and you know, you can make an appointment with the
- 38:20Speaker 1: app And I'm involved in this new company called Modern
- 38:24Speaker 1: Animal that's doing that with the vet. Um. They're saying like, okay,
- 38:28Speaker 1: the vet's just always a hassle. It's like you can
- 38:30Speaker 1: never get in. It smells. It's not that's like old
- 38:32Speaker 1: school building. This is like again retail storefront. You're you're
- 38:37Speaker 1: a member of the club. You can make an appointment
- 38:39Speaker 1: on your app um. Anyway, my point is someone should
- 38:43Speaker 1: do that for the pharmacy because I just think, I
- 38:45Speaker 1: don't know, every time I go to the pharmacy to
- 38:47Speaker 1: get something, it's it's always they're like what they can't
- 38:50Speaker 1: find it, and like they did your doctor call it in?
- 38:53Speaker 1: Yeah he called it and yeah I didn't know I
- 38:57Speaker 1: valtreks for phased on valtracks for phase on. That would
- 39:03Speaker 1: be the worst day of my life ever. I would
- 39:07Speaker 1: be like, what are you doing, mister phase on paging?
- 39:11Speaker 1: Mister phase on? Your valtrek is ready at the pharmacy.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Count I just want It's not I swear the wrong
- 39:18Speaker 1: face on. You must have the wrong pa. There's another
- 39:21Speaker 1: face on here. No, the African Ammerican phase because you're
- 39:33Speaker 1: not coming, because you're hiding out in the magazine aisle.
- 39:35Speaker 1: And she's like, oh, let me get more clear the
- 39:38Speaker 1: African American bearded phase on black guy from Scrubs face.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Five minutes later, she's like, black guy from Scrubs, Your
- 39:49Speaker 1: Valtrex is ready, and did you want the what did
- 39:57Speaker 1: you want the eighty milligram viag because we only have sixty?
- 40:01Speaker 1: Please come to the desk. Would you claim the viagra?
- 40:08Speaker 1: Would you be be well the biagra? Yes, it's mine, I think. Um,
- 40:15Speaker 1: I'll leave that there. Um. What about the janitor riding
- 40:19Speaker 1: a vacuum flying vacuum? That looked good, So we learned
- 40:24Speaker 1: at the viagra The janitor has several inventions in his
- 40:30Speaker 1: in his mind is the straw. That's and also there's
- 40:37Speaker 1: the if something were the spill on let's say the
- 40:41Speaker 1: third floor of the hospital and he was on the
- 40:43Speaker 1: first floor, I need to get there quickly. He has
- 40:46Speaker 1: a vacuum cleaner slash hub crop. It's called the hover hoover, right, yeah,
- 40:56Speaker 1: the hover hoover. And then and then don't you think
- 41:00Speaker 1: for scrubs, for scrubs visual effects which I always think
- 41:02Speaker 1: are cringed. That looked pretty good. It did look good.
- 41:05Speaker 1: I was waiting for him to fly in. He's like
- 41:06Speaker 1: open a window. That would be cool if you flew in.
- 41:09Speaker 1: H did that? We didn't have that kind of budget.
- 41:12Speaker 1: It looked good though. How about Date night with mister Roberts. Uh? So,
- 41:16Speaker 1: Laverne likes to prime the pump by watching the young
- 41:19Speaker 1: men sweat on the basketball. Yes, like up and before
- 41:26Speaker 1: we get to the basketball game. Not only did she
- 41:29Speaker 1: like to get worked up, they roll play in in
- 41:34Speaker 1: in in in actual environment. Yes, she waits at the
- 41:38Speaker 1: bus stop like she's gonna go to the bus stop
- 41:40Speaker 1: and pretend to be a working girl. H yeah, a
- 41:44Speaker 1: lady of the night. Yeah, so god, that could go wrong.
- 41:48Speaker 1: I was I was waiting for the punchline, like they
- 41:50Speaker 1: got arrested and needed to get bailed out. Because isn't
- 41:53Speaker 1: it funny on the live show that when when m
- 41:57Speaker 1: Aloma revealed she only read her scenes, and so when
- 42:03Speaker 1: we were talking about because I don't think LaVerne's above
- 42:08Speaker 1: ground about no, I don't know if I don't even
- 42:11Speaker 1: know if Alona has ever seen the show, because when
- 42:14Speaker 1: we asked her about the above ground food party, I
- 42:16Speaker 1: guess it was it was never discussed and with her characters,
- 42:19Speaker 1: so she's like, what are he's talking about? She she's
- 42:21Speaker 1: never She has no fucking idea, no idea, She has
- 42:25Speaker 1: no idea what the show Scrubs is about. What do
- 42:28Speaker 1: you think the odds are that? What do you think
- 42:30Speaker 1: the odds are that? Other than the pilot? Maybe Alma
- 42:32Speaker 1: watched this single episode. Okay, so this is gonna come on,
- 42:35Speaker 1: This is gonna come on before the show. Well, this
- 42:43Speaker 1: is episode nineteen and so the very next episode, listeners,
- 42:46Speaker 1: who didn't watch the live show, here is the live
- 42:48Speaker 1: show yet? Oh well you're gonna watch. You're gonna hear
- 42:50Speaker 1: the audio from the live show next, listeners, and you'll
- 42:53Speaker 1: hear that Alma um doesn't have any idea about the
- 42:58Speaker 1: above groundpool party because she reveals that she only read
- 43:00Speaker 1: her scenes in the script. She was so sassy. Huh, Yeah,
- 43:07Speaker 1: she was as sassy as her character. Yeah, she was great.
- 43:11Speaker 1: She was one. It was just one, you know. I
- 43:13Speaker 1: really it would be nice to do. And I'm not
- 43:15Speaker 1: gonna say this is gonna happen or anything, but it
- 43:17Speaker 1: would be nice in some way or another to do
- 43:20Speaker 1: another reincarnation of this show, even if it's animated. I
- 43:26Speaker 1: really feel like animated is a great way to you know,
- 43:31Speaker 1: because it feels like Season five feels like The Simpsons
- 43:36Speaker 1: and or Family Guy and or Future Rama and you
- 43:40Speaker 1: know what I mean. It's just like it's so out
- 43:42Speaker 1: there and these characters could get away with so much. Okay,
- 43:46Speaker 1: we'll be right back. Don't go wait where are you going?
- 43:48Speaker 1: We'll be right back. And we're back. And we're back
- 43:57Speaker 1: and we're back up back that thing up, We're back,
- 44:00Speaker 1: We're back. I don't have my sound effects machine. I
- 44:02Speaker 1: didn't bring it from New York City. So everyone who
- 44:05Speaker 1: doesn't like the sound effect, you're getting a break. You're
- 44:11Speaker 1: getting a break if you don't like that's the thunderous
- 44:14Speaker 1: applause of everybody, and we should say, since the next
- 44:16Speaker 1: episode is the live show, you're really gonna like him.
- 44:18Speaker 1: It's special. I was thinking we should do an episode
- 44:21Speaker 1: with just the ladies, that is to say, Chris, Judy, Sarah.
- 44:29Speaker 1: Maybe a holiday themed episode. I don't know about a
- 44:34Speaker 1: live show. I just mean like a like a episode.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Oh hell yeah, I'm also about that life. Okay. Um.
- 44:41Speaker 1: Now has Joanny tor been said before? Because the janitor
- 44:44Speaker 1: introduces himself as doctor Joanny Tour But I don't know
- 44:47Speaker 1: if it's the first time we're hearing that. I think
- 44:50Speaker 1: it's the second, but I could be wrong. I laughed
- 44:52Speaker 1: out loud when he's holding down the legs and he
- 44:54Speaker 1: says this is easy, just like drowning. Yes, yes, yes.
- 45:01Speaker 1: And then when a valid he goes, I didn't see
- 45:03Speaker 1: the demon leave the body? Yes, yes, yes, and this
- 45:10Speaker 1: and and and and and this this right here sends
- 45:14Speaker 1: the janitor because Carlos says, great work, Janitor sends him
- 45:19Speaker 1: on a freaking crusade through the hospital to tell everyone
- 45:28Speaker 1: how useful he was. Yes, he held the legs down
- 45:30Speaker 1: at his moment, the moment they needed him. People who
- 45:34Speaker 1: have no idea who he is, and then our who
- 45:40Speaker 1: is Judy's standing, who we've discussed before as a line
- 45:44Speaker 1: when she says something about, oh, he won't stop talking
- 45:47Speaker 1: about his bragging. And then the guy who's is he
- 45:51Speaker 1: the dermatologist? That guy, No, that wasn't the dermatologist. That's
- 45:54Speaker 1: just some random that was no, no, no, no, I
- 45:56Speaker 1: think it's the guy who plays the dermatologist. If it
- 45:59Speaker 1: was Joelli, Joel will find it out. But any call
- 46:03Speaker 1: back because he was called the most useless person in
- 46:05Speaker 1: the hospital. Oh that's interesting, that's a deep cut. Oh
- 46:09Speaker 1: but anyway, he says, imagine how it feels coming here
- 46:12Speaker 1: and knowing you don't make a difference, And the janitor
- 46:15Speaker 1: overhears that, and we go to break. That's our commercial break.
- 46:20Speaker 1: But then we come back and he's like, yeah, I know,
- 46:24Speaker 1: I know they don't think that way about me. Of
- 46:27Speaker 1: course I'm important. Of course. Well, he sees an opportunity
- 46:30Speaker 1: because he at least finds something he can do, which
- 46:33Speaker 1: is keep them the man with locked in Syndrome company
- 46:35Speaker 1: because the guy can't communicate because his computer has been broken.
- 46:38Speaker 1: He tries to fix his computer and really fucks it
- 46:41Speaker 1: up and avoids the warrant warrant and everything. Yeah. Yeah,
- 46:46Speaker 1: and he introduces drill fork. You can you can drill
- 46:49Speaker 1: and fork, but mostly fork. Okay. Can we talk about
- 46:53Speaker 1: this basketball game and why it's bullshit? Yes, let's talk
- 46:55Speaker 1: about the bullshit basketball Okay. So Lonnie could play basketball
- 46:59Speaker 1: for any fucking school. It is well known that Turk
- 47:03Speaker 1: is a very good athlete. Yes, Why why in this
- 47:06Speaker 1: episode were you and Todd such bad basketball players? I
- 47:10Speaker 1: have no idea. And the way we would beat Lonnie
- 47:15Speaker 1: and doctor Cox is whoever Cox is guarding? You just
- 47:19Speaker 1: play through that person and you just that's how you
- 47:23Speaker 1: beat him. And so it was bullshit. You know. Now
- 47:26Speaker 1: I have a question, did you it feels like you
- 47:28Speaker 1: were triggered a bit um? Did you not like even
- 47:30Speaker 1: your character being beaten at basketball? Not? That's bullshit. It's
- 47:34Speaker 1: not my Lonnie, dude. I played with Mike Holbert before,
- 47:40Speaker 1: oh and Jim and Mike cats Well, I mean, not
- 47:46Speaker 1: enough to fucking dunk on me. He ain't dunking on
- 47:49Speaker 1: me ever, not even in his bed, not even in
- 47:52Speaker 1: his heyday. I could dunk in my heyday, not even
- 47:55Speaker 1: in his hey day. I don't think Mike Hulbert's Michaelbert
- 47:59Speaker 1: is very good. He's a very good basketball player. Him
- 48:01Speaker 1: and his brother are don't get twisted. They're all playing
- 48:04Speaker 1: that Bill Lawrence game. And I don't care what you say.
- 48:07Speaker 1: If anybody has ever played in that game, they know
- 48:09Speaker 1: it's not only a tough game to playing, but it's
- 48:13Speaker 1: a very very rough, rough game to play, and so
- 48:16Speaker 1: you can't be no sucker. So they're good. Joela is
- 48:19Speaker 1: saying that Robert Beckwith is the actor's name, and he
- 48:21Speaker 1: played doctor Johnson here and in My Brother's Keeper. See
- 48:24Speaker 1: if you can assess if if he's the dermatologist. I
- 48:28Speaker 1: think he is. I don't think he is the dermatologist
- 48:31Speaker 1: has been dermatologist has been in more than two episodes,
- 48:35Speaker 1: is all. I'm gonna bet you a a rolled jazz
- 48:40Speaker 1: cabbage cigarette. I got some pretty strong shit. You sure
- 48:44Speaker 1: you want to do that? Yeah, I'm gonna bet you one.
- 48:47Speaker 1: Marky Post who just passed away. Um sadly, but she
- 48:53Speaker 1: is back to play Sarah's very inappropriate mother and is
- 48:56Speaker 1: very funny. She's very funny. She gives Keith kiss. She
- 49:02Speaker 1: says she had a C section, so she's all good
- 49:04Speaker 1: down here. Yeah, she said that she's all her kids
- 49:06Speaker 1: have been c sections, so everything has remained the same
- 49:09Speaker 1: down there. Yeah. Do you think there's women that do
- 49:14Speaker 1: that on purpose? If that's the reason, God, yes, I
- 49:21Speaker 1: absolutely are women. And if that's the reason, thank you. Joel.
- 49:24Speaker 1: Are you allowed to Are you allowed to request a
- 49:28Speaker 1: c section because you want to keep your Especially wealthy
- 49:31Speaker 1: women will schedule there because they want to because they
- 49:36Speaker 1: want to keep I just want to be clear, for
- 49:39Speaker 1: both reasons. For both reasons, because someone so that a
- 49:41Speaker 1: male can enjoy it, No, so that there's not any change.
- 49:46Speaker 1: That's the only thing. That's the reason. Hold on. That's
- 49:49Speaker 1: the reason why the character Elliott's mom says it too. Right, listen,
- 49:54Speaker 1: I've done it so that when you when we do it,
- 49:58Speaker 1: you feel it. It's gonna be so fucking good for you.
- 50:02Speaker 1: That's what she's saying. Yeah, right, Joel's saying that a
- 50:05Speaker 1: lot of women do this for that reason. Is that
- 50:08Speaker 1: what you're saying. I'm not saying a lot of women
- 50:09Speaker 1: do it for that reason, but there are certainly there
- 50:11Speaker 1: are women who a do schedules c sections without necessarily
- 50:16Speaker 1: needing one, and be some do it because they want
- 50:19Speaker 1: their vagina to stay tight, you know, that's what they're about,
- 50:23Speaker 1: the scheduling purposes. Wait, first of all, I didn't know
- 50:26Speaker 1: you're allowed to schedule a C section, but Donald, look
- 50:28Speaker 1: in the chat what Joel just wrote? Okay, so I
- 50:33Speaker 1: owe you a Rolls Jazz cabbage cigarette. Do you want
- 50:38Speaker 1: it tonight? Yeah? I want you to bring it over
- 50:40Speaker 1: yourself and try it with me. No, I can't. We
- 50:44Speaker 1: can't do that. COVID man, you just got in town.
- 50:47Speaker 1: Oh all right, well I've been tested. Actually, have you
- 50:50Speaker 1: going to the Emmys? I don't know if you've known this,
- 50:52Speaker 1: but I'm going to the Emmys. Oh my god, I
- 50:54Speaker 1: heard you. Are you nominated? I am? Um? There are
- 50:58Speaker 1: several of us. All right, so o, marky post very funny.
- 51:03Speaker 1: Oh my god. By the way, not one no insult
- 51:06Speaker 1: to Key and Peel, but you did this joke first.
- 51:09Speaker 1: This is the hilarious Key I told Joe what's up dog?
- 51:16Speaker 1: That was hilarious. That guy sold the shit out of
- 51:19Speaker 1: that joke, the old white man, what's up dog? Yeah?
- 51:24Speaker 1: But what we're talking about, if you're lost, is there's
- 51:26Speaker 1: an amazing Key and Peel sketch where um Obama Jordan
- 51:29Speaker 1: Peel is playing Obama and how he greets white people
- 51:33Speaker 1: differently than black people, and it is so funny if
- 51:36Speaker 1: you YouTube, and I'm sure, but um, it's basically this
- 51:40Speaker 1: joke that that old white man is walking down talking
- 51:42Speaker 1: to the white people one way, and then he sees
- 51:45Speaker 1: Donald and he's like, what's up dog? All right, I'm
- 51:51Speaker 1: gonna say this, and I can say it because Shay
- 51:54Speaker 1: Serrano said it. Turk and Carla the cutest couple and
- 51:59Speaker 1: TV has three period. I don't give a fuck what
- 52:01Speaker 1: anybody says. Man, you can say whatever you want to say.
- 52:04Speaker 1: But the two of them are so cute together, especially
- 52:09Speaker 1: when you know she's comforting him because he feels, you
- 52:15Speaker 1: know that you know, maybe doctor Cox was you know,
- 52:20Speaker 1: in some ways right, and she's like, hell, no, he's wrong,
- 52:24Speaker 1: and you know, he's like, I just, you know, want
- 52:26Speaker 1: to be able to do things when we're married. And
- 52:29Speaker 1: she's like, of course we're gonna do things from Mary.
- 52:32Speaker 1: We'll still be able to go out and we're gonna
- 52:33Speaker 1: go and and go to movies and eat dinner. He's
- 52:37Speaker 1: like really, and she's like, noo, we're gonna have kids.
- 52:41Speaker 1: Don't be stupid. He's like, she's like, but don't worry
- 52:44Speaker 1: about it. Man, It'll be great because we'll still be
- 52:46Speaker 1: able to have lots of sex. And he's like really,
- 52:49Speaker 1: She's like, no, it's your life, dude. I wish Casey
- 52:56Speaker 1: was here right now because the theme song would be
- 52:58Speaker 1: playing right. I even asked her. I was like, do
- 53:01Speaker 1: you want to come on and talk about this today?
- 53:03Speaker 1: And she was like, no, no, we don't have to
- 53:05Speaker 1: talk about it. It's real talk. Man. It's like, I'm
- 53:08Speaker 1: sure everything like I was saying, it's like I said
- 53:12Speaker 1: in the beginning, as you get older, like I still
- 53:15Speaker 1: would love quantity. It's a lot of Quantity is a
- 53:19Speaker 1: lot of fun to me when it comes to sex
- 53:22Speaker 1: with my wife. A quality you can't beat that with
- 53:24Speaker 1: a baseball bat. And that's what those two you know
- 53:27Speaker 1: what I mean. And that's what those two have. Man.
- 53:28Speaker 1: They have freaking something really special. And when they have
- 53:32Speaker 1: these moments like this and the Scrubs shows, it feels
- 53:36Speaker 1: so good and yeah, well it's a testament to you
- 53:39Speaker 1: and Judy. I mean, I got to say you your
- 53:41Speaker 1: chemistry all these years is was so strong. And you know,
- 53:46Speaker 1: if you're not in the business, you might think you
- 53:49Speaker 1: can fake that, but you can't really fake that you can.
- 53:52Speaker 1: Obviously two actors can pretend to like each other. But
- 53:56Speaker 1: there's something about when when chemistry happens like it like
- 54:00Speaker 1: it did between Donald and Judy, that it really it resonates.
- 54:03Speaker 1: People feel it. And I think Judy has this going
- 54:07Speaker 1: for her as well. I think all of us do.
- 54:08Speaker 1: And I think maybe it's because we're character actors on
- 54:12Speaker 1: this show, but we're very lucky because when we work
- 54:16Speaker 1: with other people, we can find a way to have
- 54:20Speaker 1: that chemistry. And that's I think that's what makes really
- 54:23Speaker 1: good character actors, you know what I mean? Like a
- 54:26Speaker 1: character actor is somebody who can come into a scene
- 54:28Speaker 1: and do a scene with someone and the chemistry is
- 54:36Speaker 1: is good and it works that you believe the relationship.
- 54:39Speaker 1: In my opinion, I think that's a that's what you
- 54:42Speaker 1: know is you know, strong something for a character. I
- 54:47Speaker 1: think all of us on the show Scrubs have this
- 54:49Speaker 1: ability to to form a chemistry with whoever we're working with. Well, no,
- 54:56Speaker 1: but I disagree with you that that in this case.
- 54:58Speaker 1: Of course, that's that's what happen, and that's one of
- 55:00Speaker 1: the reasons it went nine years, the chemistry between all
- 55:03Speaker 1: of us. But that doesn't always work for all of us.
- 55:07Speaker 1: In our other endeavors, you sometimes have to pretend that
- 55:10Speaker 1: you really like someone or pretend that you don't want to.
- 55:13Speaker 1: But that doesn't mean you don't have chemistry. For me,
- 55:17Speaker 1: I I equate chemistry with like, I feel so comfortable
- 55:21Speaker 1: with this person and I can totally be free to
- 55:27Speaker 1: perform and not be in my head and not think, oh,
- 55:30Speaker 1: this person's a jerk. That's what I That's what I
- 55:34Speaker 1: equated too, is like, I like them and I love
- 55:37Speaker 1: what they're doing, and they respect me, and they like
- 55:39Speaker 1: what I'm doing, and we just we click, you know.
- 55:40Speaker 1: But then there's it's a relationship obviously, But then there's
- 55:43Speaker 1: the flip side of it and the directors who like
- 55:45Speaker 1: it where the set is kind of chaotic and people
- 55:48Speaker 1: are at odds and hands with each other. Right, you
- 55:52Speaker 1: hate it, but sometimes that makes for great chemistry. I
- 55:55Speaker 1: once was doing a play with someone who was so
- 56:00Speaker 1: possible and U and he said, I I like tension
- 56:06Speaker 1: in the rehearsal room. He said, oh, he said it
- 56:10Speaker 1: was good for he thought it was good for the play.
- 56:12Speaker 1: And I just remember thinking, like, I hate tension. I
- 56:17Speaker 1: want to create a safe space on my sets when
- 56:20Speaker 1: I'm the boss. I create a place like we had
- 56:23Speaker 1: on Scrubs where there's no wrong answer and be free.
- 56:27Speaker 1: And this is and this is, this is a kind
- 56:29Speaker 1: environment for you to be creative. I don't I don't
- 56:32Speaker 1: want anyone feeling on edge and uncomfortable. That's not my style.
- 56:39Speaker 1: So we learned. We learned that Carla, you know, Elliot,
- 56:41Speaker 1: finally has the epiphany she needed to have, that that
- 56:44Speaker 1: Carlo was the one who who helped her become the
- 56:47Speaker 1: great doctor that she is, and Carlo was the one
- 56:50Speaker 1: who saved her ass a hundred times. Well, we should
- 56:53Speaker 1: go back and explain Elliot's storyline in this whole episode,
- 56:57Speaker 1: is that, you know, she'd feel she needs to be
- 57:00Speaker 1: a little bit tougher on her interns because she gets
- 57:03Speaker 1: chewed out in the beginning by Kelso if I'm correct
- 57:08Speaker 1: in saying that your interns mess ups are your responsibility.
- 57:12Speaker 1: So she wants her interns to be the best that
- 57:14Speaker 1: they can be so that she doesn't have to, you know,
- 57:17Speaker 1: feel the brunt on her end. Yes, and one of
- 57:20Speaker 1: her interns because she puts a smiling face after one
- 57:24Speaker 1: of the dosages, it causes the seizure that the janitor
- 57:28Speaker 1: helps with and he believes is an exorcism. I think
- 57:37Speaker 1: that's my favorite. I didn't see, didn't I didn't see
- 57:42Speaker 1: the v outon leave the body. That's the Funnies episode.
- 57:53Speaker 1: And as I said in the end, you know, well
- 57:55Speaker 1: I laughed, Well, I laughed it. Also, this is easy,
- 58:00Speaker 1: like it's a lot like drowning. Someone made me laugh too. Yeah. Well,
- 58:04Speaker 1: if this is the one, I'm right after the other. Yeah. Um.
- 58:07Speaker 1: And then it's very moving, as we said earlier in
- 58:09Speaker 1: the end, when when Cox, you know, it's all proud
- 58:12Speaker 1: of himself because he's the top dog, top alpha doctor
- 58:16Speaker 1: in the hospital, and he opens the computer and and
- 58:19Speaker 1: the man's able to communicate the word thank you, and
- 58:23Speaker 1: Cox is like, oh, you're welcome, and he says, no,
- 58:25Speaker 1: I meant I didn't mean you. I meant him. And
- 58:28Speaker 1: I thought it was such a great choice of Bills
- 58:32Speaker 1: and end or John Inwood, our cinematographer who shot this.
- 58:35Speaker 1: Although I don't think it would have been left to
- 58:37Speaker 1: the director. I'd sure this is a bill decision that
- 58:39Speaker 1: the janitor never hears it, which I just thought was
- 58:41Speaker 1: so such a such a moving choice. Yeah, but he
- 58:47Speaker 1: still made a difference, and he knows. I know, I know,
- 58:50Speaker 1: but he no, he doesn't know yet in a lot
- 58:53Speaker 1: of ways he knows. He did he know me what
- 58:55Speaker 1: to me? What was moving about? It? Is? He never
- 58:57Speaker 1: he never heard it. He doesn't his his ego won't
- 59:02Speaker 1: allow him to not. No, No, I disagree. Okay, Well, hey,
- 59:10Speaker 1: it still was an emotional I've been We've been wrong before.
- 59:12Speaker 1: If I've been wrong, several times, I've been wrong. This
- 59:15Speaker 1: is the third time since I've learned that. You're weell,
- 59:18Speaker 1: do we have a guest today? To all right, We're
- 59:21Speaker 1: gonna sear a quick break on the right back with
- 59:22Speaker 1: a very fun get where are you going? No, I'm
- 59:25Speaker 1: right back and we're all right, Joell, we don't have
- 59:36Speaker 1: Daniel Donald. What do you think the odds are that
- 59:39Speaker 1: Juell will successfully record this guest? Told you I'm not
- 59:42Speaker 1: messing this up? Well't you? Well? You remember what happened
- 59:45Speaker 1: last time Daniel left the recording of the guests to you.
- 59:49Speaker 1: It was horrible and hard, but I learned poor guests
- 59:52Speaker 1: tend to go back to their family, probably collapsed in
- 59:55Speaker 1: the fetal position, crying that they don't break my heart
- 59:59Speaker 1: like this. They d m me and they were like
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: you know, Um, I'm hurting inside. This pain won't go away.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: I got a DM from them too, telling me is
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: if you know Joel some rectifies. Yes, I got someone
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: saying that they had finally beaten oxycotton and sign and
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: when Joel sent them right back into it. Oh my god. Okay,
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: that's right, it's fine, Joel. Accidents happened, like not hitting
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: the record button. I hit record, I just didn't tell
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: you know what. Listen, who do we got? Who do
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: we got a right? We don't want to hear it.
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: We don't let to hear it. Who is it? Who
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: has it? Got a collar? Talks? You know, like a
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: bottle maybe talking about the episode. So come on, Joell
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: a will and Man, Hi, guys, hey guys, the program.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: We're so happy to have you. You You guys are some
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: we are Were you honor me? I don't. I don't
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: have my sound pad, otherwise I'd be hitting you honor me?
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: But maybe Dan Ladden and post I don't Dan Tank forever? Yeah, yeah,
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: why don't we just do them live? We'll do it live,
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: Will Tank forever, woll Tank forever. You honor me, You
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: honor me, you you honor me tang forever, Zach. I
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: love you, Zach, I love you for say quick talking
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: about Jo Willies. Yeah, well, for folk's sake, please stop
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: talking about Jo Willies. O Ye, you're getting you guys
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: are getting them live. That's the clap sound lamar. Well,
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: and Derek, can you tell the guys what did you
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: do and why you rode into be on the show? Um? Yeah?
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: Will do you want to start us off? For you? Mean?
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: So I'll start us off, Derek, and you're going to
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: so uh? Zack and Donald? If do you know how
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: you started a podcast to talk about the show that
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: you were on and you go back and you rewatch
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: episodes of the show and talk about it. Yeah, I
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: know about that. So yeah, so well, what we came
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: up with was rewatching episodes of your podcasting it, oh
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: my gosh, using it as a shameless plug to try
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: and get Joel to let us on take Doctors Real friends.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: All right, now, does anyone listen to your podcast? We
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: are actually in a lot more countries than you should
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: have expected. Yes, we have tens of listeners, Zach. We
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: are very proud of our tightening it. But I'm seriously,
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: do you do you how many listeners. Do you think
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: listen to your rewatch podcast of the podcast of the
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: Rewatches officially called the Past you kind of stolen idea
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: because we were running out of ideas what to do next,
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: and we're like, why don't we why don't we re
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: listen to the podcast. So I am I'm going to
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: throw this out here in Zach. Our first episode was
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: published February third of this year. Oh, when you have
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: eighteen plays? We have eighteen plays of the poet? Yeah,
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: well we should give you We should give you a
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: plug since how do people took called? Our show is
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: called the Rewatch Podcast Rewatch Podcast and you can find
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: us on Twitter at RPRP Official. Okay, so there you go.
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: I think where Joel really started to see us because
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: we started live tweeting your live shows and the first one,
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: the first one was a lot more low key, but
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: we really laid into it. On the second one we
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: got a lot more engagement. Even Christa Miller retweeted, now,
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: are you guys here? What did you say about us?
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: Are you guys hard on us? Is there criticism? Because
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: Donald and I don't hand criticism very well. Oh no,
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: we love you guys. No, I can tell if you
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: would do a rewatch of a podcast rewatch. You're probably fans,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: but are you guys like is there your critiques? Or
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: you're like, gosh, they really barely talked about scrubs this episode.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: We we have, uh, you know, we have some segments. Um,
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: we we have the Donald phase on, you know what
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: I mean. Counter. Um, we actually invited a guest who
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: was on your podcast to our podcast and talk about her.
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: This is meta. Did she get on? Did she come on?
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: She did? She did? Came on? Was there a great episode?
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: Get anybody listening to this podcast wanted to get on board?
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: Got it? Yeah? Dang it? Now you should. That's talking
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: about That's what I'm taking. I'm a little worried talking
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: about that. That that that that that That's what I'm
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: talking about. Woo Tang forever, Woo Tang forever, Woo Tang forever,
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: Zach I love you. Now listen, guys, I'm a little
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: worried that you're gonna have some of our guests on
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: again before we have a chance to have them on. Yeah,
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: you can't second bring back the sex. Stay away from
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: that sex, that sex couple, that that cuckold couple. There
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: are all right, but if this who was going to
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: continue where we weren't getting onto fake doctor's real friends.
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: We were going to try everything in our power to
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: try and get Ryan Reynolds on before you Oh my God. Also,
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: we also considered considered so there's a there's like a
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: Scrubs like Discord and a reddit. We considered going on
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: to the reddit and being like, is anyone's legal given
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: Christian name Ryan Reynolds? You come on the podcast so
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: we can say, hey, Joel, we got Ryan Reynolds on
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: our podcast. Well, I can't believe you took so long
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: to let these gentlemen come on the show. They've dedicated
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: their lines to the Cuddy on the show. I like
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: to build up a little. Yeah, there's a lot of
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: build up. This might be my new favorite podcast. And
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: I don't podcast. I don't think Donald's ever listened to
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: another podcast besides this one. This might be my new
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: favorite podcast. I mean, well, the I was gonna say,
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: will do you do you want to tell them the
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: Star Wars thing? We did, Wait, hold on, you did
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: a Star Wars podcast on our reach, So we made
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: again in our quest to get Joel to notice us
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: on Oh my God. Joel, these guys video on Twitter
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: of it's it's the Star Wars opening, but the crawl
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: is just like it's like episode seven, Joel, Can we
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: be guests on Fake Doctor? And then it's a whole
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: like field up about like two Scrubs fans, Derek and
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: Will trying to beat the existent lad of a pandemic.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: Joel was picking a Star Wars Wars. Well, where's your camera?
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: By the way, what's coming on our Star Wars podcast? Joel?
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: Why are you not showing your face to these men?
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: Are you shame because you made them? No, not at
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: all a little unstable, and I just want to make
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: sure everything keeps going so camera, I know, but these
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: men might want to see your face since you really
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: made them struggle. If there she is the woman who
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: tortured you guys. When is our Star Wars podcast coming out? Yeah?
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: What's happening you guys? You guys will be taking a
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: break and then my hope is that you will have time.
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: I am now that you know, Zach will be off
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: doing his thing. You and I can do our thing.
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: So oh so you have to let let me explain
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: to the audience who might be not who might be confused.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: I'm gonna do that. I'm gonna do the sound. I
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: don't want you to, Okay. Joelle and Donald are going
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: to do a new podcast called The Black Side and
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: it's all things Star Wars from the perspective of two
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: African American people who are obsessed with Star Wars. Does
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: that correct your wells at the pitch? Okay? Can you
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: stop that fucking song now? Um? Do you just think
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: of that in your sleep? Don't you? You just sit
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: there like dude? All right? Um, we are young? Oh shit?
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: What they're young? Because he went and that I was
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: I was doing the original. Oh shit? All right? So
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: I take it that you guys are both mega Star
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: Wars fans as well. I have been described as a
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: colossal nerd. So yes, I am a Star Wars Okay,
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: So I take it you'll be tuning into the Black
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: Side when when think comes. Yes, I have a question,
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: and what was your favorite episode there? Young Will episode
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: of the podcast episode of Star Wars were singing star
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: He's only He's only Star Wars. About your episode your
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: favorite episode on the podcast that I want to know
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: about your favorite episode of Star Wars Empire hands down?
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: Really and you're a young man too. How old you
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: can I ask? I'm thirty three, thirty three and Empire
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: hands down, Joel, what's your favorite episode of U of
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: Star Wars episodes through nine, It's definitely Empire, followed closely
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: by episode seven. Um, sorry, I Force Awakens. I was like,
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: oh really, t LJ last Jedi eight? Yeah? Yeah, you
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: see how you see? I want to know do you
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: want to know mine? Or do you want nobody gives
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: a fuck what your friends. I don't like that. I
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: don't like the podcast isn't called the Zach Side. Zach.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: I love Zach, I love me. So you don't even
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: need the soundboard anymore. It's better if I just live.
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: Everybody knows exactly what you're doing now so much, dude.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: And by the way, I still haven't labeled the thing,
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: and I have to guess every time anyway. So this way,
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: this way, I know I'm always going to get what
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: I want. It's like jazz with a soundboard. That's what
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: makes it crazy. I know, it's like I'm scatting. Um.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: Why nobody listening to your podcast? Guy? Um? All right,
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: so you guys only had eighteen listens on the on
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: your pilot. I don't think that's very good. We need
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: to get those numbers up. No, it's not. Well. Originally, Zach,
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: so we we found your We we've always been fans
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: of Scrubs, and it was right during like the Lockdowns
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: that Your Guys episode came out, and you know, Derek
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: and I were just like, you know, we were just
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: talking back and forth about how like for a while
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: it was one of like the best things about life
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: during panos, like every week we had this podcast and
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: we can watch Scrubs. We can do this. So then
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: like that just turned in that just morphed into like
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: we're talking about the pocket, we're talking about fake ackers anyway,
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: Like let's just record it and we can like we
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: could start doing this to get Joel's intention. You should
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: go into the face. I don't look at it because
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: I again, I don't want to read anyone saying that
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: we suck. But I know that there's a Facebook group
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: that discusses the podcast. What platform are ye? Yeah, so
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: we're on Anchor, you guys on iHeart too. Maybe maybe
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: one day you may need a few more than eight lists.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: I think, Yeah, you rally your parents do? They don't
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: have to listen just hit play on their phones. Yeah. Right,
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: So we're just on anchor right now. Because the other
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: thing was we didn't want you guys think like that
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: we were starting our own podcast is like a way
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: to to you know, like to to build a pocket.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: This is all just the labor of love for us.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: So we just had it on anchor and we would
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: only seat it out, like we would tweet every episode
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: and tag you guys in it and then email Joel
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: and be like, Joel, we made another episode and we're
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: on Twitter barely. We gave up Twitter for sanity sake.
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: But um, but Joel, you should be retweeting it because
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: Joel's miss Twitter's retreated a few of us. So how many, um,
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: how long do you talk about the the the podcast
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: episode in your podcast episode? So, I mean we typically
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: run to anywhere between like forty five minutes to a
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: now or when we after we like cut it up
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: and everything. Um, but yeah, I mean we I think
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: the episode that we had done with Brittany went a
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: little bit longer and that ended up becoming its own
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: episode apart from the actual you know, recap episode. Yeah,
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: recap episode. I'm worried that they're going to beat us
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: to the cuckold couple. Can book? Make sure we please book.
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: They're going to hear this and be like, we need
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: to choose which one do you want? Well, with all respects,
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: we're not gonna go with the eighteen listeners. They want
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: to hear, they want their story heard. I am I
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: feel I feeling after this episode that we put up today,
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: the numbers are gonna grows. Yeah, your numbers are gonna
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: grow a lot. I'm gonna just say this right now.
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: You guys seem like very funny, Yes, funny. What do
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: you guys do for a little bit? You guys seem
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: like a I don't want to just assume, but uh, Eric,
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: you seem like you're a brown man. Uh and Will
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: Will you seem like you are a white man. So
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: you got your whole you have the whole chocolate and
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: vanilla guy thing going. Are you guys? Where do you hey,
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: where do you live? I'm outside of Philly, I'm in Queens,
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: New York? Okay, and um, and you got the Tri
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: state area thing going? Okay and then um and then
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: what do you guys really that's Connecticut, Jersey in New York.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: But hey, you got it. You know, hey, partner Amtrak
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: still goes right there, guys, what do you guys do
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: for jobs? So? I work in farma and uh will
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: I work in advertising? I do analytics. Okay? Are you
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: a sales rep for Big Farmer Derek? No? No, so
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: I'm a program manager. Okay, Well we won't hold it
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: against um. All right, do you guys have a question?
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: That's why you're here. You worked very hard to get
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: on the show. Yeah, yeah, so, Uh, Scrubs was originally
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: on around the time where there were a lot of
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: other amazing shows that were on. Was there ever any
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: opportunity for like a crossover episode? And if not, was
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: there any particular show that you would have wanted to
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: have done a crossover with? Well, just the Arrested thing,
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: you know we did. I think we told that story
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: that you know, we we were on opposite networks and
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: Jason and I were friendly and we got them to
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: allow us to do that. That was kind of the
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: closest I think it ever. God, you know, back in
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: the old days, they would like literally the characters would
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: go on other shows. I mean usually they were like,
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: you know, the same producer like Gary Marshall, you know,
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: that kind of thing. Oh no, well when we did Clueless,
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: when I was doing Clueless and television show Back in
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: a Day and we were on the same network as
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: Moitia and oh, we had a crossover episode where we
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: had you know, Mesy on the episode. We had Lamont Bentley,
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: God rusta Soul. He was on the episode. Uh, and
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: if I'm if I'm correct, Shar Jackson, Shar it was
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: Shar Jackson, Lamont Bentley, and then uh, gab Union who
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: was not on either. My wife, Yeah, yeah, she was
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: in the episode as well, but that that had nothing
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: to do with like one was the Paramountain movie. Like
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: it was really odd, but you know it worked. Do
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: you remember when um um on Scooby Doo they would
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: have like, was it the Harlem Globe article was just
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: one of the most recent version of Really Yeah, dude, Yeah,
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: Scooby Doo is my jam That was my favorite kid show,
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: really my favorite kids I think I think Scooby Doo
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: is probably like my favorite kids animated show. Yeah, at
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: the age I was right for it. Yeah, Scooby Doo
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: is a classic. It really is. All you gotta show
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: your kids or show your daughter. She'll probably be into it.
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: Donald's were like the version we watch, No, no, no no,
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: they watch Scooby Doo. They know exactly school, you know,
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: but not the new ship. I'm sure that they've they've
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: watched old school Scooby Doo exactly, and I would have
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: gotten away with it. It It weren't for those damn kids.
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: Damn kids. But that's in every that's an even in
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: every in every incarn is an incarnation of ourselves. In
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: every incarnation of Scooby Doo. They always do that line.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: Never at least, but I'm not going to watch the movies.
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: All right, Um, what's your next question, guys? Um our
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: next question? Uh? It actually has to do a little
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: bit with something that we've talked about on our podcast,
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: which is from so we've talked about in about how
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: Bill Lawrence created all of these shows, you know, Spin City,
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: Ted Lasso, Cougarhound, Scrubs. We believe we have a theory
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: that this is all within a shared universe, that there
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: are variants of character. We've already even this in Cougartown,
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: that there's a variant of Zach that's a delivery man. Well,
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: I think I think in Cougartown Ted plays Ted right,
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's the link. Yeah, that's the that starts.
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: So what we're wondering is if if this is all
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: Bill Lawrence's universe, who has created it? Is he? Is
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: he a benevolent god? Donald? You're not going to the Watcher?
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: Is he? Is he he who remains of the of
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: the Bill Lawrence universe? The the I don't think. I
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: don't think he minds there being variants. I think he
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: and I think if anything, Bill would enjoy their being.
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: I don't understand these these sci fi nerd terms you're using.
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: Can you translate to people that don't play D and D.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: So essentially Bill has shown up in Scrubs twice and
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: Ted has shown up in Cougartown as Ted. So there's
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: so Bill clearly exists in different versions within this universe
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: that he's created. So how does Bill link all of
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: this together? How do we think this is all combined
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: in this world? You're saying that um Lasso is existing
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: in the same units verse as sugar Town and Scrub
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: like you see that there was a thing I retweeted
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: a while ago because I do occasionally lurk on there,
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: and there was some someone who had done a match
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: for each character of lasts to Scrubs. Did you see that? Yeah? Yeah,
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: I thought that was clever. Ye, Like, we think it's
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: it's entirely possible that there could be a flashback in
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: Ted Lasso season two or three where Roy Kent is
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: like I went to this American surgeon when I hurt
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: my knee and it cuts to Donald face on its
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: Chris Turk being like, well, how about this, Let's ask
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: Bill Lawrence right now. Okay, Well give him the dame
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: that you coined, you guys, you guys can ask the question.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: Go ahead, all right, Bill, Bill, are are our friends here?
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: Derek and Will have a question for you. Go ahead,
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: Derek and Will Bill. We we believe in what we
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: have coined the Bill Lawrence Extended Cinematic Universe, or the BLCU,
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: in which Bill Bill Bill controls all of one shared
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: universe between the Scrubs, Spin City, Sugar Down, Dead, Lasso, etc.
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: Is do do you confirm this theory right now? On
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: his podcast? Oh? The people want to know Bill want
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: to know? You guys think you can just ask Bill,
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: Like whenever you have something you want to ask Bill, Like,
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: I'm just here waiting to look. I'll tell you this.
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: You can because I've got nothing going on, and UM,
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: please ask Bill Moore the Bill Lawrence universe, Um, not
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: the one that's in my head, the TV show one.
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: I feel like you left out Clone High because here's
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: some trivia. The janitor from Scrubs played the janitor m
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: in Clone High, and if you go back and see
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: what his name was, his name was Glenn and on
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: the cartoon and that's where we got his name in Scrubs.
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: The confusing thing about the Scrubs universe, Cougartown, Scrubs, Spin City,
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: Clone High, hopefully Ted Lasso is that I think Scrubs
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: exists in some shows. So I think Sam Lloyd still
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: played Ted Buckland on Cougartown, but the Todd was the gardener,
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: but he still did high fives. And Zach was not
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: Zach because in Cougartown, j D would never be a
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: pizza delivery boy, and Busy Fell's character on Cougartown had
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: a Zach Braffe app app in which the app told
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: you what appetizers was to order. I do like to
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: believe that there's some kind of system, and I'm working
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: on it now, and I think it probably revolves a
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: little bit around uh hopefully you're seeing the scrubs cast
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: on ted Lasso sometime. If I can make that happen,
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: then it's the multiverse and it works. Uh, miss you
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: guys talks in I think it would really help help
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: your case as if I were to have a role
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: on ted Lasso, as I'm not gonna lie to you
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: at all, dude, I would love to be on ted Lasso.
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: And I think they have a rule um in their bible,
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: in the in their show bible that uh that there's
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: no Americans other than other than other than Beard and Jason.
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: And that's that's that's fine. I will fucking work on
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: a bridge. There's the variant of doctor Chris Turk. He's
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: a British. That doesn't mean that I mean we can't
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: get on the show. But someone someone could say, someone
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: could reference a famous surgeon named Yeah, I had no
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: idea that the owner of the team is the freaking
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: nun shame the shame nun from freaking Game with Thrones.
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: You want to talk about a glow up has not
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: to humble brag, but I was drinking with Hannah last night.
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: She is she has the body of Jessica Rabbit. Yes
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: it does and I was like, I didn't want to
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: say it, but you did. I didn't want to say it.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: You did. She does. I said it to her face.
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: I said, your body is insane. You're like Jessica Rabbit,
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: you are so beautiful and she's the sweetest person. And
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: you know that's really her voice singing, because she told me,
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: I don't know if you saw on her. On her
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: instant stories, she put her rehearsing the Christmas song because
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: she had people being like, there's no way that's her,
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: and she was like, okay, and so she put the
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: rehearsal video on the insane there's no way that's her.
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: That's to hate, and I hate. It's hard to believe
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: someone's that beautiful, is that talented and acting and can
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: also see like who again, just how she's incredible and
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: she's the most humble, sweet, loving person. You love to
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: hear it. Yeah, I think she's gonna win this weekend.
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: I think, I think, I think I have very high
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: I have very high hopes for ted Lasso this weekend.
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie. By the time this airs, you guys,
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: it'll have already be long, this will be old news.
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: But I have high hopes and it'll be interesting. Um,
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: we're banking episodes for those of you who don't know,
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: because I'm going to direct a movie and I can't
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: do a podcast while i'm directing a movie. So that's
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: why we've gotten far ahead. Um, but not only we
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: should say this, also go ahead, Donald, And it's Donald's
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: right in the midst of doing Why is it funny?
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: Why it's always funny. It's always funny, always funny. It's
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: a class, it's a classic because you're my best friend.
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: And the joke is, I've forgotten your name learning fuck tits, Sorry,
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: don't Joel's covering surface, fucking shit, pimple, you are a pimple? Okay,
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: t ears, alright, finish your boring ass story. Good. We're
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: banking episodes. What and while we're doing it, I'm also
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: in the midst of creating a television show and so
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: because of that, we might come up short, and so
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: there might be a hiatus that happened. But that's when
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: I think y'all can do some of your black side.
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: You've got real careful, real quick, real careful. I couldn't
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: remember the name. Oh oh, I don't understand what you're implying,
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: all right, Joel, but if we come up short, because
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: I'll be making the move, why don't you guys use
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: the slot with some black side. I was hoping that
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: we could get maybe the rewatch of the Rewatch. Well,
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: I don't know. With all due respect to these gentles,
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: I going to pretend to be Zach and Donald for
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: a couple episodes, and Rewatch be like, yeah, I remember
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: filming the scene that was on our list of things
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: to do for this podcast. We were going to like
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: write a script about like a fake like episode of
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: fake Doctor's Real Friends and just like have actors like
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: read as if they were like Zach and Donald talking
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: about oh yeah, season twelve of Scrubs. I remember that
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: we actually flew out to San Diego for that one.
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: You just had a lot of a lot of free time,
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: and it's a pandemic. We had nothing to do, all right,
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: all right, we just came up with all right, think
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: it's time for Philadelphia and and Queens New York. Yeah,
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: favorite segment. Go on, Donald, it's time for It's time too,
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: but little little time, it's time to fix your Go ahead, gentlemen,
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: you have to have a shared fix your life. Yeah,
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: we do. We'll take it away. Uh, okay, well I'll
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: start us off. Guys. Um, so we obviously started this
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: uh podcast to be invited to come talk with you
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: guys as guests on your podcast. It worked, It worked.
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: It must have been on your white board. It must
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: have been on your white board. Daniel, who's not here?
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: A thunder pause. So admittedly we're feeling today a bit
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: like the dog that caught the car. Okay, uh, Derek,
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: you want to yeah? So so what what our fix?
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: Our fix? Our life question for you is where do
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: we go from here? What? Like? What should our new
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: goal be? Now that Well, I think you guys, I
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: think you guys are genuinely funny and charming, and you
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: have great banter. I think you should keep going with
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: your podcast. It doesn't need to be about our rewatch
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: if that becomes like not boring or you're over it,
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: but or no one's listening to it more importantly, I
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: don't know, maybe they are, maybe after this plug they will,
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: but I definitely think but I definitely think you guys
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: have a great banter and you're funny, and you should
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: make if it's not what you've been doing to get
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: on the show. You should keep it going with something
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: else that really interests you. And you love chatting about
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: with your best friend, right, Donald, and you guys are
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: in a different state, you know what I mean. It's
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: a great way to keep in touch with each other.
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: You have an appointment every week. I don't know how
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: many times you do your podcast, but you have an
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: appointment every week to talk to each other, you know
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: what I mean. We might as well stick it out
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: to see what happens. Bring in some side bring in
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: some sidekicks like Daniel and Joel. So we actually we
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: did have a guest. So we had our one guest
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: who is on your podcast? We had another guest come
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: on who we found out mid recording not only did
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: not listen to the episode of Fake Doctors Your Friends,
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: but had never seen Scrubs before. Oh my god, and
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: we were it was It was pretty funny. We were
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: just like, why did you choose that guest because he's
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: a very good friend of ours and let you guys
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: were starving for guests. Yeah, we were interviewed. It would
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: be better to interview your cat. Now listen, Why don't
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: you guys, why don't you guys? Let me ask you
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: something serious question. If obviously you love scrubs and you're
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: interested in scrubs, what would what's something that you both
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: share a love for that you wouldn't mind chatting for
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: hours on end, you know, once or twice a week
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: about Well, I think I think I know what the
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: answer the question is gonna be. It's probably gonna be
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: just TV end or movies in general, just film and cinema. Yeah, definitely,
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: there there's a very big market for that. People are
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: looking to listen to stuff like that. No, you just
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: find you got to build an audience listen, Joe. I'll
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: go ahead say it, Joe, Joel, I should be asking you.
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: It seemed like you were about to say something. I'm sorry. No,
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: she's watching Clone Wars in the backroom ridiculous, as were
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: sometimes Joel reacts on the chat, and it's not to
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: what we're saying. It's to fucking something that happened on
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: Clone Wars in the backroom. She's watching Rebels. She's watching
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: Rebels by the way, she's watching Rebels. She's watching She's
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: watched Rebels nine hundred times, but she still reacts surprised
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: when Lafal gets saved a beautiful moment. Okay, oh my god,
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: all right, well listen, guys, I think that Uh, it's
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: really fun. I love doing this with these guys, and
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: it's something you know, Donald and I obviously have a
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: shared humor of the surreal experience. That's a very unique
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: experience to go back and watch something we did for
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: ten years that we barely remember, um, and we laugh at.
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: It's our sense of humor. So if I were you, UM,
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: find something that you just love talking about and and
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: build an audience that way, because because when you really
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: are passionate about something and you're lit up by it,
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: it's you know, it's contagious. It's infectious. People love it.
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: They want to The people that share your love of
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: whatever films or TV or video games or whatever you
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: guys are reviewing or talking about, they'll they'll they'll be
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: right there with you. It's just about building community. Now,
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: if you're famous and you've been on a famous TV show,
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: you can build a community a lot faster, it goes
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: without saying, but so you'll build your community perhaps a
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: bit slower, but that doesn't mean that you won't build
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: a community and and have a lot of fun doing it,
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: and I don't. That's that's my advice. Not only that,
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: I think a lot of people tune into fake doctors,
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: I hope because they enjoyed the camaraderie Zach and I have.
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: You know what I mean, they are truly best friends.
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: And so if that if you can have, you know,
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: if you can have that shine through on your program,
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: I promise you it. You know it infectious. People do
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: enjoy listening to two buddies shoot the shit and and
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: and kindness. Kindness is contagious, they say, And we try
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: to promote kindness here. So even though he is a
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: fucking shit pimple. Wow, So does that mean that my

- 1:31:48Speaker 1: that what Ched has turned into a pile of shit
