- 0:00Speaker 1: Let's get some entertainment news. Kyle Payne, what do you
- 0:01Speaker 1: guys have?
- 0:02Speaker 2: Obviously, it was news heard around the world yesterday. Sadly,
- 0:04Speaker 2: Dolly Parton passed away at the age of 80. She
- 0:07Speaker 2: had dealt with kidney stones, medical complications, immune and digestive issues.
- 0:11Speaker 2: She shared some dehydration and dizziness issues. But now we're
- 0:15Speaker 2: learning the actual cause of Dolly Parton's death. which she
- 0:18Speaker 2: was privately battling cancer before she passed away. Her family
- 0:21Speaker 2: says it was a brief battle that she never shared publicly.
- 0:24Speaker 2: They still haven't revealed what type of cancer she had,
- 0:26Speaker 2: but said she died surrounded by loved ones. She was
- 0:29Speaker 2: so prepared for this moment that years ago, she actually
- 0:32Speaker 2: asked her nephew, who served as the head of her security,
- 0:35Speaker 2: his name was Brian Seaver, to record the video announcement
- 0:38Speaker 2: of her passing.
- 0:40Speaker 3: This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years
- 0:42Speaker 3: ago before I fully absorbed it as a future reality.
- 0:45Speaker 1: It is an honor.
- 0:46Speaker 3: an honor that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness.
- 0:50Speaker 3: But sadness lies with us, not with Dolly. Dolly has
- 0:53Speaker 3: lived in the light and is in the arms of Jesus,
- 0:55Speaker 3: surely met by Carl, her parents, and countless others who
- 0:59Speaker 3: have watched her and longed for her to meet them
- 1:01Speaker 3: in the heavens.
- 1:02Speaker 2: So in one very Dolly detail, he also shared that
- 1:06Speaker 2: Dolly had asked to be buried in a beautiful bed
- 1:10Speaker 2: of plush cotton because after a lifetime of wearing those
- 1:13Speaker 2: heavy rhinestones, she deserved to finally be comfortable.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Oh, that's awesome.
- 1:17Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Now, before her passing, she was actually asked how she
- 1:20Speaker 2: would want to be remembered.
- 1:21Speaker 5: I want them to think about everything I did. I
- 1:23Speaker 5: want them to appreciate all the things that I appreciated
- 1:26Speaker 5: getting to do. Of course, I love to write songs,
- 1:29Speaker 5: but I also love to sing them. And I like
- 1:31Speaker 5: to get out in.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Front of people.
- 1:32Speaker 5: So I just want them to remember me. I'm very
- 1:34Speaker 5: proud of the Imagination Library. That's one of the things
- 1:37Speaker 5: I'm proudest of. But I'm proud of everything that I've
- 1:40Speaker 5: been able to accomplish. So I just want to be
- 1:42Speaker 5: remembered as Dolly and whatever that entails.
- 1:45Speaker 6: That bio on her that she's part of, 3,000 songs
- 1:50Speaker 6: she wrote sold over a hundred million records.
- 1:53Speaker 1: There's nobody that's ever going to eclipse that.
- 1:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:56Speaker 2: I kept seeing yesterday. It's like everyone was posting about her.
- 1:58Speaker 2: It's like, I think she was the one person left
- 2:00Speaker 2: that literally everybody loved.
- 2:04Speaker 1: So sweet.
- 2:06Speaker 2: And part of that imagination that she talked about that
- 2:08Speaker 2: she wanted to be remembered for was Dollywood. She, you know,
- 2:10Speaker 2: that was something she thought up and they made this
- 2:12Speaker 2: reality and They actually revealed, like, a couple years ago,
- 2:16Speaker 2: she was on Jimmy Fallon, and she said that she
- 2:18Speaker 2: has left us a gift for after she passes away.
- 2:21Speaker 2: It's something she recorded and is now actually buried at Dollywood.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Well, I'm glad that people love me, but I'm... They
- 2:31Speaker 4: asked me if I would write a song that nobody
- 2:34Speaker 4: would ever hear, I'll be dead, gone. I wrote a
- 2:36Speaker 4: song and I put it in the box to be open,
- 2:39Speaker 4: and so I don't know what they'll do with it,
- 2:41Speaker 4: but I have regretted that because it was a really
- 2:43Speaker 4: good song. I keep wanting them to let me dig
- 2:46Speaker 4: it up and put.
- 2:48Speaker 5: Something else in it that's not as good, but if
- 2:50Speaker 5: any of you are around when they open that box, well,
- 2:52Speaker 5: I hope you enjoy my song.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Supposedly they weren't allowed to dig it up till 2045
- 2:58Speaker 2: and I don't know if there was like a stipulation
- 3:00Speaker 2: in there that if she passed away before then that
- 3:03Speaker 2: we'll be able to hear it sooner than 2045 but
- 3:06Speaker 2: either way she left that for us and I'm sure
- 3:07Speaker 2: once whenever they do release that it's gonna be it's
- 3:10Speaker 2: gonna be huge did you see the there's.
- 3:12Speaker 6: A I saw a bunch of clips off on her
- 3:13Speaker 6: obviously one was where so she wrote I will always
- 3:16Speaker 6: love you right the song that Whitney Houston made to
- 3:18Speaker 6: smash but it was also number one twice with her
- 3:21Speaker 6: and I guess she wrote it and At one point,
- 3:23Speaker 6: Elvis Presley wanted to record it.
- 3:26Speaker 1: And she said, absolutely. So do you know the story?
- 3:29Speaker 4: No.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Okay. So Elvis Presley, absolutely. You can record it.
- 3:32Speaker 6: So she's telling all her friends and family that Elvis
- 3:34Speaker 6: is going to record. I will always love you. And
- 3:36Speaker 6: this is like in the seventies. And then she gets
- 3:38Speaker 6: a call the night before Elvis is going to record
- 3:40Speaker 6: it from Colonel Tom Parker and Colonel Tom Parker says, Hey,
- 3:43Speaker 6: you know, Elvis can record your song tomorrow. She says, yeah,
- 3:46Speaker 6: I can't wait. But you know, everything Elvis does, he
- 3:48Speaker 6: gets half. If he didn't write it, he gets half
- 3:50Speaker 6: the writing credit. And she's like, oh, I wrote that song.
- 3:53Speaker 6: It's already been a number one song for me. She goes,
- 3:55Speaker 6: so I thought Elvis cutting it was just going to
- 3:57Speaker 6: be Elvis cutting it. And he's like, no, no, Elvis
- 3:59Speaker 6: gets half the publishing. And she said, I'm sorry, but
- 4:03Speaker 6: I'm not going to do that. And freaking, he pulled it.
- 4:07Speaker 6: She said, I'm not going to let you do that.
- 4:09Speaker 6: And so Elvis didn't record the song. But when Elvis
- 4:12Speaker 6: got a divorce from Priscilla, He sang that song to Priscilla,
- 4:17Speaker 6: I Will Always Love You, on the day of their divorce.
- 4:20Speaker 6: Cut to Kevin Costner calls her and says, I want
- 4:23Speaker 6: to do a movie with Whitney Houston called The Bodyguard.
- 4:25Speaker 6: I want to use your song, I Will Always Love You.
- 4:27Speaker 6: Can Whitney record it? And she goes, yes, but I
- 4:30Speaker 6: want the publishing. He goes, you can have all the publishing.
- 4:32Speaker 6: Whitney doesn't care. She just wants to cut your song.
- 4:35Speaker 6: And that song became, and she made billions off of
- 4:37Speaker 6: Whitney's version.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Isn't that cool?
- 4:39Speaker 5: That's amazing.
- 4:40Speaker 1: That's really, that's so special.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Actually, I was like doing the deep dive of Dolly
- 4:44Speaker 2: Parton yesterday, watching all these interviews of her. And they
- 4:46Speaker 2: were like, do people ever underestimate you because of like
- 4:48Speaker 2: how you look, you know, you're this little tiny petite, big,
- 4:50Speaker 2: big boot blonde girl. Like that was like her thing,
- 4:52Speaker 2: you know? And she was like, I actually love it
- 4:54Speaker 2: when they do that because I'm, I look like a woman,
- 4:57Speaker 2: but I think like a man in business. And before
- 5:00Speaker 2: they can realize that, I'm already gone with the money.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Good for her.
- 5:05Speaker 4: I know.
- 5:06Speaker 7: Okay, really quickly, Hollywood is giving us some major nostalgia
- 5:09Speaker 7: in big moves because Ryan Gosling has signed on to
- 5:11Speaker 7: produce a new live-action Flintstones movie with Warner Bros. So
- 5:15Speaker 7: Paramount is also putting out a How to Lose a
- 5:17Speaker 7: Guy in 10 Days sequel. That's an early development Kate
- 5:20Speaker 7: Hudson is supposed to produce. And then over on the
- 5:23Speaker 7: TV side, Coco Jones, she is going to star in
- 5:25Speaker 7: a brand-new Bel-Air spinoff titled Hillary, which is going to
- 5:28Speaker 7: follow her character's move to New York. And then Lauren
- 5:31Speaker 7: London is officially cast as... as Snoop Dogg's mom, Beverly Tate,
- 5:34Speaker 7: in his new biopic that's coming up.
- 5:36Speaker 2: That's fun.
- 5:37Speaker 5: I know.
- 5:37Speaker 7: I was like, she's going to crush it.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Did you guys ever watch the Stranger Things Tales from 85?
- 5:42Speaker 4: No.
- 5:42Speaker 2: A lot of people did, but they just announced they're
- 5:46Speaker 2: going to do a season two of that, too. And
- 5:48Speaker 2: I'm actually really excited. Did you guys see the trailer
- 5:50Speaker 2: that they released for Brothers? It's the Matthew McConaughey, Woody
- 5:53Speaker 2: Harrelson show.
- 5:55Speaker 7: Oh, my gosh. It's funny?
- 5:57Speaker 2: It looks like it's going to be hilarious because Matthew
- 6:00Speaker 2: McConaughey plays Matthew McConaughey.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Are you really Matthew McConaughey? Because I am. Would you
- 6:07Speaker 1: sleep with my girlfriend? No, I will not. Can I
- 6:10Speaker 1: tell people that you do? No, you cannot.
- 6:13Speaker 2: So have you ever heard the theory that they're actually
- 6:16Speaker 2: brothers in real life? So they literally turn that into
- 6:18Speaker 2: a TV show. So they play fictional characters of themselves
- 6:21Speaker 2: figuring out that they're actually brothers.
- 6:23Speaker 1: That's funny.
- 6:24Speaker 6: I know.
- 6:24Speaker 1: I think that's going to be hilarious.
- 6:26Speaker 6: We got Tame Impala tickets. Tim and Paul's coming to
- 6:29Speaker 6: Mortgage Matchup Center. And to be there, you got to
- 6:31Speaker 6: win our game, Noise Machine. So we need a contestant
- 6:33Speaker 6: at 877-937-1047. Chewy, what's up? You're on the air.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Good morning. Good morning.
- 6:39Speaker 2: I want to give you guys a big thank you
- 6:42Speaker 2: for the tickets to the game last night. My kids
- 6:45Speaker 2: loved it.
- 6:46Speaker 1: My wife loved it. We all loved it. What a
- 6:48Speaker 1: game too, right?
- 6:50Speaker 3: Right.
- 6:50Speaker 1: The whole time we're kind of like, ah, the kids
- 6:52Speaker 1: are like, it's cool. It's cool.
- 6:53Speaker 2: We're here, whatever, enjoying dad's time.
- 6:56Speaker 1: And then Anthony, they got into it.
- 6:58Speaker 2: My daughter's kind of like, whatever, baseball.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Man, she was all into it. Those Diamondbacks are wild.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, like the D-backs are so exciting to
- 7:06Speaker 2: watch right now because they're like right behind the Padres.
- 7:09Speaker 2: They're this close to getting into the National League playoffs.
- 7:12Speaker 2: And all we need to do is get a couple
- 7:14Speaker 2: more wins.
- 7:15Speaker 4: In San Diego.
- 7:15Speaker 2: So it's really exciting. And that game, like the walk-off
- 7:19Speaker 2: two-run homer, that's just bananas. So I'm really glad that
- 7:22Speaker 2: you were there.
- 7:22Speaker 1: For that one.
- 7:24Speaker 3: Right, and then also my wife was like, you know,
- 7:26Speaker 3: at least we got free tickets.
- 7:27Speaker 1: It would be nice. We thought you guys were going
- 7:29Speaker 1: to put us up, and no, you guys put us
- 7:31Speaker 1: right up there. It was awesome. Damn straight, dog. Damn straight, dog.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Come on now. We kept trying to catch those foul balls.
- 7:37Speaker 2: It was like we had the gloves.
- 7:39Speaker 7: Yeah, there you go.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Come prepared. What an experience. I hope you took pictures.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Send us pictures, man. Oh, yeah, definitely. I definitely will.
- 7:46Speaker 1: All right, Chewie, thanks for calling in, man.
