- 0:29Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Ooh, so let's talk about selfish behavior.
- 0:33Now typically when we talk about this kind of stuff, we will go
- 0:36through the rigors of defining. Well, am I being self-centered
- 0:40in order for self-preservation to take place?
- 0:43And, you know, I'm a big proponent of that.
- 0:45I think it's important that you take care of yourself.
- 0:47I think it's important. You put the mask on yourself,
- 0:49and then you can go out and take care of other people.
- 0:51And it's all wonderful. I'm talking about another
- 0:54component of this today though. I'm talking about when someone
- 0:57has legitimate selfish behavior and In the midst of it because
- 1:03it is a hard thing to deal with. We look at other people's
- 1:06behavior and we regularly will be judgmental of someone else's
- 1:10behavior and will say the so selfish.
- 1:13And and it is like, let's face it is.
- 1:16Now the question is, did they not know?
- 1:19Did they not care? Because everything always boils
- 1:21down to one specific. Fact, you are there, don't know
- 1:22you don't care. So you have to start to look at
- 1:27this, from a perspective of how am I going to let this Behavior
- 1:29affect? Me, first of all, because it's
- 1:33important to understand, the more you get offended, the more
- 1:36your emotions are going to go up the more, you're going to feel
- 1:40off-put by it and then you're going to start reacting and
- 1:43being angry, which is rightfully.
- 1:45So mind you. And then you've got to make
- 1:46decisions about what to do with it because selfish behavior is
- 1:50all around us. I however, believe many people
- 1:53don't know, like, they just do things and they don't know.
- 1:58And that's why it's our job to inform.
- 2:00Of the how it makes us feel, what happens to us in the
- 2:04process of their actions of their, of their true actions.
- 2:07Coming up, what that does to us, because I just don't think that
- 2:10many people are aware. I think that they are aware of
- 2:13certain parts of things, and then they kind of like, you
- 2:17know, compartmentalize it or just put it aside, we could sit
- 2:22there and we could say, Hey, you know, I think they knew, but I
- 2:26think they get so caught up in their world.
- 2:28They don't think about other people legitimately Yeah, I
- 2:30don't think they think about other people so it's incredibly
- 2:34important for us to be aware of what we're making something mean
- 2:40that the other person might be doing and it's incredibly
- 2:43important for us to decide how we want that to show up further
- 2:47in our day and our actions and our relationship with these
- 2:50people because it's very easy to get all caught up.
- 2:53It's very very easy to get all caught up and it's very, very
- 2:56easy to have challenges trying to unwire it because we Quick to
- 3:01pull the trigger and point the finger, and sometimes that's
- 3:04necessary. And sometimes we do it as a
- 3:07habit. I know I am, I'm quick to pull
- 3:10the trigger and I can look at something, and I can go that
- 3:13selfish behavior. And is it self preservation for
- 3:17some things? Sure, I'm sure that's what it
- 3:19is. But other times I'm like, no, I
- 3:21think that this was just uncalled for and in saying that,
- 3:26I want to be very clear about this.
- 3:27Yes, you have to have self preservation.
- 3:29Yes, you have to take. Care of yourself.
- 3:31But you have to also understand that the other person on the
- 3:35other side may be uninformed, may be uninformed, so it's your
- 3:40job to inform them in a way with grace that that affected you,
- 3:45their actions, their choices affected you.
- 3:48And then you can take it from there.
- 3:50How you want to see fit of how it you can blend this into the
- 3:54conversation as far as how do we move forward with this?
- 3:57How do we fix? It is an apology.
- 4:00Required. But looking out there at the
- 4:03world I'm going to tell you you have to assume that most people
- 4:09are just so self-centered that they're not thinking about other
- 4:13people at this point in time they're just thinking about
- 4:16themselves and in that action of course it comes across as
- 4:21selfish but is it always selfish and is it wrong?
- 4:25If it's always selfish. I mean I don't know that's
- 4:27that's one of the big fundamental questions of life.
- 4:30So you have to decide what it means to you, and then you have
- 4:34to share it. Otherwise it will continue and
- 4:37you will Bubble Up and not like it.
- 4:39So always go back to the one fundamental fundamental question
- 4:42of well, they either didn't know or they didn't care and I'm
- 4:46going to assume they didn't know and I'll be able to tell them
- 4:49and then find out if they just don't care, that's probably the
- 4:52smarter way to do it. And in red, you know, in the, in
- 4:55the flip side of this, you have to ask yourself what selfish
- 4:59phase Behavior. Is.
- 5:00Am I doing that? Someone is is affected by and do
- 5:05I actually know if I'm aware of them?
- 5:07And that's a tricky one and you have to dig into that because
- 5:11hmm. Gosh, selfish behaviors, I'm a
- 5:14fan of some of them, you know, you've got to take care of
- 5:17yourself. I've said it a thousand times on
- 5:19this podcast. You have to take care of
- 5:21yourself or you can't take care of other people, but it can't
- 5:23come across as a selfish behavior without letting people
- 5:27know and informing people. Exactly of what, you know, you
- 5:32need and with a little information, everything becomes
- 5:35easier. So just remember that.
- 5:38Alright? I hope you guys have a very
- 5:39blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:41Bye. Exactly of what, you know, you
- 5:32need and with a little information, everything becomes
- 5:35easier. So just remember that.
- 5:38Alright? I hope you guys have a very
- 5:39blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
