- 0:25Now let's open our Bibles and study God's Word and so.
- 0:31I'd like you to turn in your Bibles.
- 0:33To the book of Isaiah and if you're unfamiliar with.
- 0:38The books of the Bible. There's an index in the front of
- 0:40your Bible. Maybe you need to get a Bible.
- 0:43You don't have one. There's some behind the sections
- 0:45there, and you can. I would.
- 0:47Encourage you to go get a Bible and and find out.
- 0:50Where the book of Isaiah is and turn to chapter 61, Isaiah
- 0:56chapter 61. That's going to be our text
- 0:58tonight and we're going to be looking at the 1st. 4 verses
- 1:03this is an amazing. Text Of course we remember the
- 1:06Lord Jesus reading from the. Scroll of Isaiah in his own
- 1:10hometown synagogue of Nazareth, and it didn't turn out that well
- 1:14for them. They tried to kill him and he
- 1:17just walked through their midst. But.
- 1:19But we'll talk about that as we go through it, but this section
- 1:23here is so important. Because it gives us the heart of
- 1:30the Father for us and it. Shows us how we're to reach out
- 1:37to those who are just as broken as we were when we were.
- 1:42Brought to salvation now, some of you listening online,
- 1:46watching online, or even here tonight, you might be in a
- 1:51situation of life where things are quite broken down and
- 1:56there's not a whole. Lot of hope there's not a,
- 1:59there's not a way. Through it, it just seems like
- 2:01it's a. Black hole, and it just is
- 2:04sucking you in and robbing you of life and hope.
- 2:08And I want you to know in this section here the Lord.
- 2:11Is for you, not against you. And he he wants to show himself
- 2:17in the midst of things. And so tonight what we're going
- 2:22to do? Is take these 4 verses and we're
- 2:25going to split them into 3. The first part is in verse one
- 2:29anointed to be sent, anointed to be sent and the second part.
- 2:35Is verse one to verse 3 anointed to give hope, healing, and
- 2:41comfort? That's where we get our title,
- 2:44Hope, Comfort and restoration in our teaching tonight.
- 2:48And the third section is verse three and four anointed.
- 2:52To rebuild, to raise up and. Repair All three of these are
- 2:58are important to understand as we're looking at this section
- 3:03and we see it's the. Heart of the Lord not only for.
- 3:07But it's the heart of the Lord giving us our target.
- 3:11A purpose when we go out and help people and minister to
- 3:15people. And so I'm going to read through
- 3:19verses one through 4 of Isaiah 61 and then we'll.
- 3:23Start with the word of prayer. All right, here we go.
- 3:27The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me.
- 3:30Because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings to the
- 3:35poor, He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim
- 3:41liberty. To the captives and the opening
- 3:44of the prison to those who are bound to proclaim the acceptable
- 3:49year. Of the Lord and the day of
- 3:52vengeance. Of our God to comfort all who
- 3:56mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them
- 4:01beauty. For ashes the oil of joy, For
- 4:05mourning the garment of praise. For the spirit of heaviness that
- 4:11they may be. Called trees of righteousness,
- 4:15the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified, and they.
- 4:20Shall rebuild the old ruins, they shall raise up the former
- 4:25desolations, and they shall repair the ruined.
- 4:29Cities, the desolations of many generations.
- 4:33Let's pray our Father in heaven we thank you for.
- 4:37The scriptures We thank you for the the many many.
- 4:41Bibles we have available today and these.
- 4:45Words are sure your Holy Spirit came upon Isaiah and gave him
- 4:51this prophecy. Of what would take place, not
- 4:55only as. Hope for the people of Israel,
- 4:57but also with the Lord Jesus fulfilling these very words, but
- 5:03tonight. Father, would you speak to our
- 5:06hearts? Would you minister to?
- 5:09Us about Our Calling, how you want us to serve in these last
- 5:14days and reach a world. That is hopelessly lost without
- 5:20you, and so minister to us tonight.
- 5:23We ask in Jesus name. Amen.
- 5:27Amen. Well, let's take a look at verse
- 5:29one a minute and I'd encourage you to get a pen or highlighter
- 5:34out and just highlight, underline, circle and and there
- 5:39are things that are going to stand out to you that might be
- 5:42different than somebody who's on the other end of the aisle
- 5:44you're in, but. Just be ready for the Lord to
- 5:48show you some things, okay. First of all, verse one says
- 5:52the. Spirit of the Lord God is upon
- 5:55me. Because the Lord has anointed
- 5:58me, I want you. To notice that Isaiah didn't
- 6:04earn this anointing. He It wasn't that he convinced.
- 6:09God to do this for him. The verse is very clear that it
- 6:13was the Lord. Himself that put that anointing
- 6:18upon. Isaiah because he's talking to
- 6:21the. People of Israel here in this
- 6:23second. Half of the book of Isaiah
- 6:25especially to bring comfort chapter 40 verse one comfort ye,
- 6:30comfort ye my. People says you're God and and.
- 6:33So this whole last section is an encouragement, special
- 6:39encouragement to. The people of Israel that that
- 6:41hope is on its way. But Isaiah didn't do anything to
- 6:53make that happen. Comfort is on its way.
- 6:45Healing restoration are on its. It was God's purpose that he did
- 6:57it, and as the Lord. Jesus speaks this very thing in
- 7:01the synagogue. I mean, he was the fulfillment.
- 7:03He's he's caught Incarnate speaking in this.
- 7:07Group I was starting to read through.
- 7:10The Gospel of Luke all over again as and my prayer was.
- 7:13God, I want to read it as if I've never read it again.
- 7:17And I've read. I've read the Gospel of Luke.
- 7:19Dozens of times. But I want it fresh.
- 7:22I want to hear it. As if it's all a new discovery.
- 7:26And there were things that just stood out to me, like how many
- 7:29times. It says he went and taught in
- 7:33synagogues in the first. 5 chapters of Luke and I you know,
- 7:36I read that. Before, but it's like he's
- 7:39presenting the hope of the good news because that's what he came
- 7:44came to. Do to preach good tidings.
- 7:47That's the gospel good news. And the good news is the power
- 7:51and hope. Of what Jesus is is going to do
- 7:55on on his sacrifice on the cross and so.
- 7:59The Lord has anointed me. It's.
- 8:01His purpose? And here's the deal if you're
- 8:06believing in the son of. God, Jesus Christ, God has
- 8:11placed His Holy Spirit within you.
- 8:14He makes his home. There he doesn't.
- 8:18You're not an Airbnb. To God, okay, he lived.
- 8:22The Holy Spirit lives in your heart.
- 8:25He doesn't timeshare. With the devil, he's your.
- 8:30He's in you for. He'll abide with you forever,
- 8:35Jesus said. But there is this special
- 8:38anointing that comes upon the believer.
- 8:42It's referred to in acts. Chapter 2 is the Baptism with
- 8:45the Holy Spirit and the. Purpose of that feeling to?
- 8:50Overflowing of the Holy Spirit is so that you might be sent,
- 8:55not so you can have a. Buzz or a special feeling?
- 8:59Or oh, I can't believe it. I mean, I have heard so many.
- 9:03Strange stories as proof that someone is filled.
- 9:07With the Holy Spirit in my days and I'm and there is one guy
- 9:11that told me. Oh, you just couldn't believe
- 9:14how the Holy Spirit was working in the room.
- 9:17Man. The brother so and so was
- 9:18walking on top of the folding chairs, not on the seats, but on
- 9:22the very tops. He walked.
- 9:23All the way through and didn't fall once.
- 9:26That is not the. Purpose of the Holy Spirit, I'm
- 9:30just telling you. The Holy Spirit in this.
- 9:35Text is sent so that we can reach those who need healing,
- 9:45those who are brokenhearted, those who are mourning.
- 9:48We're going to talk. About those words here, there's
- 9:51a purpose. Why He fills us with the Holy
- 9:55Spirit when the Holy Spirit lives in us, that's character
- 10:00change. That's the fruit of the Holy
- 10:02Spirit, like Galatians 522 says. Love, joy.
- 10:07Peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, meekness,
- 10:12faithfulness, self-control. Those are all character changes.
- 10:18That happens because the Holy Spirit moves in but the
- 10:23anointing of the Holy. Spirit is to give us power for
- 10:26service and that's what we see here in this section, the.
- 10:30Spirit of the Lord God is upon me.
- 10:33Because the Lord has anointed me to.
- 10:37Preach the good tidings and and. This is our target that these
- 10:42are the folks that we're to go to.
- 10:45We're. We're not to.
- 10:46Go to the the incredibly rich and wealthy and comfortable.
- 10:52The goal is. That's not the, That's not the.
- 10:53Let's bring the. Hope of the gospel to those who
- 10:56are hopeless. Now you can be absolutely rich
- 11:00and wealthy, like the guy that won the the Mega Millions or
- 11:05billions actually, and I just wouldn't want to be him.
- 11:08Because all the sudden the whole world and all the evil in the
- 11:12whole world is going to focus on that guy.
- 11:15I mean that's. Not a pretty sight, but that's
- 11:18another issue. But as we see here in #2
- 11:23anointed, to give hope, healing and comfort.
- 11:26That's why we need the anointing.
- 11:30Of the Holy Spirit upon us. Just as Jesus had it upon him,
- 11:36and I want you to notice. All the action words in our text
- 11:40tonight, and these are things you can circle because they're
- 11:44important to note the action words.
- 11:49To preach. To be sent.
- 11:52To heal. To proclaim to comfort, to
- 11:57console. To rebuild, to raise up, to
- 12:01repair. This is all a part that we play.
- 12:06Yes, it has to be God that does the work, but there's a part
- 12:10that we play and that's. Called the yieldedness, Stepping
- 12:14out in faith, stepping into areas where maybe you're a bit
- 12:18uncomfortable. With it.
- 12:21But the Lord is speaking to you saying go to that person and and
- 12:27yeah, but I don't know what to say.
- 12:28Don't okay. That's a given.
- 12:31Just just go and and say hello. My name is and I've noticed that
- 12:39there just seems to be an area where you could use some prayer
- 12:43and then just see what happens. I mean, you have to.
- 12:46Step out on Faith. Take that.
- 12:47Take that journey and the. Activities of our Lord Jesus
- 12:52Christ during His ministry, when He was anointed with the Holy.
- 12:57He walked up to those that all the rest of the society stepped
- 13:01away from. One of the first.
- 13:04Miracles, specifically that you read in the Gospels is the man
- 13:08who was. Full of leprosy, everyone kept
- 13:12away from a leper they were afraid to be, not just made
- 13:16unclean. But a lepers whole life was was
- 13:19his family. Was destroyed.
- 13:21His socially he was destroyed, economically he was destroyed.
- 13:25It was living death. And when that leper came up to
- 13:30Jesus, I am guessing, although the text doesn't say.
- 13:33That all the disciples backed away.
- 13:38But the Bible says on the request.
- 13:42Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean, and I just
- 13:49want to say this evening that some of you are living in.
- 13:55Leprosy because of what's happened in your life.
- 14:00People just stay away from you. It just seems like everything is
- 14:05gone. Because of what you have done
- 14:11or. Because of what has happened to
- 14:12you. You're all alone.
- 14:16It's as if you have a kind of leprosy.
- 14:22But this leper saw in Jesus the only.
- 14:28Hope he had and he went to Jesus and he made the request which
- 14:35could have been rejected. I mean, when you make a request,
- 14:38you know that he could be just rejected another rejection.
- 14:43Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.
- 14:49And how did Jesus respond? I will.
- 14:54And he touched him, but it didn't make Jesus unclean.
- 14:59His Holiness purified the man the.
- 15:03Power of the Holy Spirit left him, and touched and healed him.
- 15:10He gave him instruction to go into the temple and show
- 15:13himself. To the priest, because that
- 15:15would be a testimony of the power of the good News.
- 15:18That's the purpose of spiritual gifts.
- 15:21Is to is to show the truth of the Word of God and the.
- 15:25Gospel of Jesus Christ. Of course he didn't do it.
- 15:28He was so excited he got his life back, but the point was
- 15:33made. Who are those were to search
- 15:37out, according to our text I want you.
- 15:39To circle these words. The poor, the broken hearted,
- 15:45the captives, the prisoners, those grieving and mourning.
- 15:51Those who have longterm desolations now in that last
- 15:56part when it talks about rebuilding that the longterm
- 15:59desolations. Of course the 1st application
- 16:03would be the restoration of of Israel and Jerusalem and the
- 16:07Temple and all. But it has to go to something.
- 16:10Deeper in the Lord Jesus because some of us are living in long
- 16:16term desolations and and we'll touch on this a little deeper
- 16:21here in a second. These are descriptive words.
- 16:24Poor broken hearted captives, Prisoners.
- 16:27Grieving, mourning. Long term desolations.
- 16:31It's in light of what sin has done in them and to them, in us
- 16:37and to us. Poor is not merely a physical
- 16:44condition. It's not just a matter.
- 16:46Of social justice and taking care of.
- 16:49Of social evils. It's something much deeper.
- 16:54To be poor is a description of being without.
- 16:58Resource without help, without hope, and there are many people
- 17:04in. Hollywood who have lots of
- 17:06money. Who are poor because they all of
- 17:12that glitz and. Glory doesn't satisfy the good
- 17:21news of. The gospel of the grace of Jesus
- 17:23Christ provides what nothing else can provide hope, lasting
- 17:28hope, abiding hope, eternal hope, even when things.
- 17:33Are terrible outwardly. I can have joy.
- 17:38I can have hope when everything has been taken from me.
- 17:45There are heroes that we read about in Hebrews Chapter 11,
- 17:49not. Just those who did amazing
- 17:52things by faith. But those who were persecuted?
- 17:57Those who were sawn in half, those who wandered about with
- 18:02hardly any clothing because everything was taken from them
- 18:05that they're. Called Heroes of Faith, even
- 18:09though outwardly everything was gone and let me.
- 18:16Just ask this question. Have you lost true, lasting
- 18:20hope? You've been so focused on what
- 18:24has not happened in your life. That it's killed your hope, and
- 18:30that's what the enemy wants to. Do is just destroy your life
- 18:34from the inside. But wait a minute.
- 18:37As a believer, you have the Holy Spirit abiding in you.
- 18:41He didn't leave. Now you may have in your pride,
- 18:46put a boulder on top of the well so there's no water coming out.
- 18:51But but you need. To ask the Lord for the strength
- 18:54to humble yourself and and lot of times that.
- 18:57Boulder is just pride. It didn't happen the way I
- 19:00wanted to. And so you're mad at God could
- 19:03chunk big. Boulder over the well.
- 19:05Well, I don't feel any. I've got a river of life.
- 19:08Flowing out of me I don't see. That at all well.
- 19:11Dude, you've got a big rock on top of it and your pride because
- 19:16you demanded that God did certain things and they didn't
- 19:19come through and so you're ticked off at God.
- 19:22Can you do that as a Christian? Yeah, sure.
- 19:27So what do you do? You got to go.
- 19:31Back and confess your sin, pride.
- 19:36Is is destructive. Here's the thing though.
- 19:44Jesus doesn't want to condemn you because you got off track.
- 19:50How do I know that? Matthew Chapter 12 verses 18 to
- 19:5421. Check this out.
- 19:57Behold my servant, whom I have chosen, referring to the Lord
- 20:01Jesus, my beloved, and whom my. Soul is well pleased.
- 20:05I will put my spirit upon him. And he will declare justice to
- 20:10the Gentiles. He will not quarrel, nor cry
- 20:13out, nor will anyone hear his. Voice in the street a bruised.
- 20:18Read He will not break and smoking flax he will not quench
- 20:22till he sends forth justice to victory.
- 20:25And in his name Gentiles will trust smoking flax.
- 20:32He will not quench. And we talked about this in an
- 20:34earlier study. Sometimes we just don't think
- 20:42there's any light at all. We're.
- 20:44Kind of a Smoking Candle Wick with a little glow.
- 20:48And a bunch of smoke. How's your life going today?
- 20:52Well, I feel a. Little smoky, actually.
- 20:54Not much life happening, not not so much light.
- 20:58I remember the good old days when I was on fire.
- 21:02How does the Lord see you? Is he up?
- 21:05There in heaven, with his arms folded and he's tapping his foot
- 21:08and going, When are you going to get it together?
- 21:12I don't think he'd speak in English, but, you know, just
- 21:14think about it. Maybe that's how your dad.
- 21:18Or your mom. Or those you highly respected
- 21:21that. Turned on you, Treated you.
- 21:23But look at the Bible for how. God describes himself a smoking
- 21:29flax. He will not quench, He's not
- 21:32interested in. Putting you out.
- 21:36He's interested in fanning you into a flame, but you've.
- 21:41Got to come to him first, because he's already come to
- 21:46you. How do you come to the Lord when
- 21:51you feel such shame over your light going out?
- 21:57You just humble yourself, kind of like the prodigal son.
- 22:03It says when he came to himself, he said how many servants have
- 22:06more food than than I'm having right now?
- 22:10And he went back. He humbled himself, and he went
- 22:13back. And that's what God is.
- 22:16Calling us to do when our fire is going out because we can't
- 22:23start it. Again ourselves.
- 22:26He has to do the work. Broken hearted is another
- 22:31condition here. This is more than just being
- 22:34jilted by a boyfriend or a girlfriend who walks out on you.
- 22:38This is broken hearted deep broken heart.
- 22:42It has to do with the deep. Grief and heartache over what
- 22:45sin has done to your life. How many people I've talked to
- 22:49in my office, they've destroyed their life.
- 22:53By a moment of sin, they destroyed their families.
- 22:58And they can't gather it back together.
- 23:00It's as if a. Grenade went off and shrapnel
- 23:03went everywhere. I've ruined my life.
- 23:07I'm broken hearted. I, I, I, I don't know what to
- 23:11do. Well, how does God see that?
- 23:15Psalm 147 versus 2 and three the.
- 23:19Lord builds up Jerusalem. He gathers together the outcasts
- 23:24of Israel. He heals the Broken Hearted and
- 23:29binds up their wounds. Sometimes in our embarrassment
- 23:35and shame, we don't want to come to the Lord and just fess up,
- 23:40and we have to see the Lord for how he.
- 23:43Has revealed himself to be he wants to heal, he wants to
- 23:49restore, he wants to bind up. He wants to pour in the oil to
- 23:56bring the healing, but we've got to do it his way.
- 24:01And that's what we see here. And we go on here it says the
- 24:06captives. And those who are bound, how did
- 24:09they get into captivity? Someone stronger than them,
- 24:13something stronger than them, took them captive.
- 24:17We know what it is physically, but you?
- 24:20Know that people can be captive spiritually.
- 24:23They can be taken captive in their sin and and and let's move
- 24:29away from radical sin and let's go into the sin of anger.
- 24:36You know you can be captive to the.
- 24:38Sin of anger and wrath in your life.
- 24:42You can be religious, but man, if somebody ticks you off you.
- 24:46Hit the ceiling. And now you've used your anger
- 24:51to control situations, to manipulate people.
- 24:57Because it works, you get your way.
- 25:00But you don't understand. You're the silent victor, you
- 25:04think, because everyone's terrified of you.
- 25:08That's not building relationships.
- 25:11That's not walking in love. You've been captive by that sin.
- 25:18Of wrath, anger, malice. It's destroyed your life and it
- 25:26destroys the lives of others. Satan is the One who has hooked
- 25:34you, and Jesus is the. One who sets you free.
- 25:40He has the power to set you free.
- 25:52Maybe you think it's hopeless? No, that's just how.
- 25:56I am. I mean every country I've ever
- 25:58been to. All of the.
- 26:00Cultures think that they have the market on anger.
- 26:04You go to the Irish. Oh, I'm just hot and just hot
- 26:07and angry, you know. Then you go to the Russians.
- 26:10Oh, yes. You know, and every single
- 26:12culture thinks they have, you know, they have a right to
- 26:15express their anger. You can't do that in the Kingdom
- 26:20of God. How do you get rid of it?
- 26:24How do you get free from that behavior?
- 26:27By the power of the Holy Spirit? Because His love flushes out
- 26:35the. Anger.
- 26:37He softens your heart. He opens your eyes to see
- 26:42what's. Really going on to see people as
- 26:45he sees. Them to see yourself as he sees
- 26:47you. A lot of times, anger is just a
- 26:51defense. So people.
- 26:54Don't get close to you. Well, let's keep on going here,
- 27:00verse 3. But to comfort all who mourn.
- 27:04To console those who mourn in Zion.
- 27:07To give them beauty for ashes, the oil.
- 27:09Of joy for mourning the garment, of praise for the Spirit.
- 27:12Of heaviness, ashes, mourning spirit, of heaviness, All terms
- 27:18that communicate deep. Grieving over something or
- 27:21someone who has died instead of ashes upon the head to.
- 27:28Signify deep sadness and grief. Jesus wants to give beauty
- 27:35beauty for. Ashes and it's interesting that
- 27:38the Hebrew word for beauty means a beautiful.
- 27:41Headdress a crown. Instead of pouring the ashes on
- 27:45the head, I want to put a crown on you and and it's interesting
- 27:51like in Revelation chapter 4. There are 20 4 elders who are.
- 27:55Around the throne and they have crowns and it says that.
- 28:00When the four living creatures cry holy, holy, holy.
- 28:04The 24 elders there take their. And they cast it at the base.
- 28:11Of the throne and say you are worthy, O Lord, to receive.
- 28:16Glory and honor and power. God wants to give us a
- 28:21headdress. Of beauty in place of the ashes.
- 28:26And it's his work. It's a crown of honor and
- 28:29blessing. It may not change your physical
- 28:34condition. There still may be the deep
- 28:38grief of loss, but there's. Hope and there's joy.
- 28:45The oil of. Joy and gladness represents a
- 28:48soothing ointment that brings freshness and hope.
- 28:51Not Psalm 23 comes to mind. Verse 5 you prepare a.
- 28:55Table before me in the presence of my enemies.
- 28:58You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over.
- 29:04Man, how we need a a fresh. Filling of the Holy Spirit to
- 29:09just soothe. And heal and flush out.
- 29:15The things that are just defiling in our life, in our
- 29:19thought life, in our words. In our attitudes, in our
- 29:26actions, and rather than being clothed with sackcloth, in
- 29:31mourning, the English Standard version says a faint spirit.
- 29:39The New Living, says despair. There's this.
- 29:42Garment of praise and joy and Thanksgiving.
- 29:45How can you sing praise to God and have joy when your whole
- 29:50life outwardly has crumbled? Because it's an inward life that
- 29:59changes you and inward life. And so if I have nothing I yet
- 30:05have, I have all. Things I have him, he'll take
- 30:09care of it. I mean my wife and I of 53
- 30:12years. We have been.
- 30:14We've had our ups and downs and we've a number of times that
- 30:17we've been stripped to to 0. And it's interesting.
- 30:21When you look around, you go, wow, then let's just go forward.
- 30:27Let's just start. Again, let's, and I mean you'll
- 30:29watch the Lord peace. Things together his way.
- 30:33And you know what's actually kind of freeing when you put all
- 30:37your stuff in a U-Haul and all of a sudden it's in this little
- 30:40box? Everything you own is in this
- 30:42little box. And then the and then the box
- 30:46drives away. You ever see those little pod?
- 30:48Things that you can rent and put all your stuff in there for
- 30:51storage. And so they're pulling away and
- 30:53you're standing there going, we don't you really need any of
- 30:57that stuff. Actually, I can live without it.
- 31:00It's an amazing feeling for a while.
- 31:03Okay, let's go to the last. Section here.
- 31:08Verses 3 and 4 anointed to rebuild and raise up and repair.
- 31:13This is an interesting section. Here they that they may be
- 31:20called. Trees of righteousness, The
- 31:22planting of the Lord that He may be glorified.
- 31:27God uses a picture of a tree. A planting of the.
- 31:32Lord not self planted. This is a work of God, God.
- 31:39Wants to do a work so that. He might be glorified.
- 31:42That's the. Purpose of you and I serving the
- 31:46Lord in these last days. The whole purpose is how has my
- 31:50life glorified Him? Because when you stand before
- 31:54him on that day, he he removes you from this earth and you
- 31:59stand before him. It's not about your net worth,
- 32:02it's about how. Has my life glorified you while
- 32:06I was on the earth the planting of the Lord?
- 32:10That he may be glorified Psalm One verse 3.
- 32:14He shall be the righteous. Man shall be like a tree.
- 32:17Planted by the rivers of water that.
- 32:19Brings forth its fruit in its seizing, whose leaf also.
- 32:24Shall not wither, and whatever he does shall prosper.
- 32:28And Jeremiah 17 says the same thing, verses 7 and eight.
- 32:32Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord.
- 32:36And whose hope is the Lord? For he should be like a.
- 32:41Tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by
- 32:45the river. And will not fear when the heat
- 32:47comes, but its leaf will be. Green and will not be anxious in
- 32:52the Europe drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit there
- 32:58are. Things in our world right now
- 33:00that can bring great anxiety. Everything could collapse.
- 33:06All your pension that you would hope that you were.
- 33:08Hoping on counting on could just go up.
- 33:11In smoke we had some friends that had their their their whole
- 33:18house just destroyed. By a wildfire recently.
- 33:23It was their source. Of income.
- 33:25They were using it as like an Airbnb and it was one of the
- 33:29main ways that they were getting income.
- 33:31And it's gone. Everything's gone, everything is
- 33:35gone, but they have a hope because it's just stuff.
- 33:42The Lord is my provider. I will not fear what man can do
- 33:47to me. Men in verse four, they shall
- 33:54rebuild the old. They shall raise up the former
- 33:59desolations, by the way. Sometimes in a marriage things
- 34:08fall apart to such an extent that.
- 34:13The husband and the wife think that there's no hope of any
- 34:17reconciliation. It is old ruins it is.
- 34:24Former desolations It is a. Ruined city.
- 34:31I just want you to know that. God.
- 34:34Never gives up pride, selfishness.
- 34:42Unforgiveness, bitterness. Satan is using all of those to
- 34:52crush the heart, to crush the relationship.
- 34:59Some of you are fighting with a captivity to an addiction and it
- 35:06might not be an addiction to alcohol and or addiction into
- 35:09drugs. It might be an addiction to
- 35:14fearing close, intimate relationships.
- 35:17And so you're a runner, and that thing of being a runner is an
- 35:22addiction to you. Because as.
- 35:25Soon as you get close to someone, you've got to run
- 35:29because it's too risky. Too dangerous?
- 35:31Well, listen to me God. His heart breaks.
- 35:36For you. And he knows what to do.
- 35:38He wants to heal your life. But there's a process by the
- 35:43power of the holy. Spirit, He can change that area
- 35:46of your life step by step. Glory to glory, there's such
- 35:53hope. In the gospel of Jesus.
- 35:55Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit to raise up.
- 36:00And and rebuild the old ruins the.
- 36:08Planting of the Lord that he might be glorified.
- 36:13So as we consider what. We have been talking about here.
- 36:19There are people. That we will encounter this is
- 36:21their. Situation of life.
- 36:22Don't run from them, run to them.
- 36:26Secondly, it might be you and where you run is you Run to the
- 36:32Lord because. It's not the next counselor that
- 36:36you need, it's Jesus that you. Need and the power of the Holy
- 36:41Spirit to do that. Work in you first before he
- 36:46goes. And does the work around you and
- 36:49through you. Let's pray our Father.
- 36:54In heaven, this is a powerful scripture.
- 36:58And we're dependent upon the Holy Spirit to do what we are.
- 37:02Unable to do at all the world. Writes so many selfhelp books.
- 37:11One after the other after. The other Why so many if it was
- 37:14supposed to work, But you are our hope.
- 37:23And we are asking the Lord God that you would show yourself.
- 37:27Powerful in the lives of everyone who is here, everyone
- 37:31who's listening, everyone who is watching online.
- 37:37That you would set captives free That you would.
- 37:40Heal the broken hearted that you would restore the old
- 37:49desolations. So, Lord, we're not going to
- 37:53figure out how to do it, where it's going to look to you
- 37:56because you have a separate. Strategy for each individual.
- 38:00And so now, Lord, starting tonight, would you do that work?
- 38:06In our midst, in Jesus name. Amen.
