Transcript
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Hello, everyone.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to another episode of Crushing Strongholds.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: This is a podcast where we turn pain into power, trauma into triumph, a place where we get to talk and expose the lies of the enemy.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: It's also a place where we get to dismantle strongholds.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: And how do we do that?
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: We do that by equipping believers.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: We equip believers with the truth and the word of God through grace and love of Jesus Christ.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Also, did you know that sharing your testimony matters?
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: Getting your word out there, telling people how you have overcome obstacles and strongholds of your own helps completely crush and dismantle strongholds.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: And that's what this podcast is about.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: We want to talk about how we do that.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: And today, I want to dive into a scripture today that I've been thinking about.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: And with my other podcast, Truth Be Told, um, we've been talking about prayer.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: And this kind of was brought to my attention in the last episode that I shared in that podcast that I wanted to do uh a little bit more elaborate into this podcast.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: So um if you missed that podcast, go back and watch.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: It's called Truth Be Told with um myself and Bethany.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: By the way, I am your host.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: My name is Mickey, and I am a Christian life coach.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: I am also an advocate and speaker on behalf on behalf of dementia.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: And um, I help people to crush and annihilate strongholds that they struggle with, and just help people to seek out their God-given purpose for their life so that they can live a more joyful and fulfillment life, which is what we want.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: We want freedom in how we live.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: So let's jump into James 5, shall we?
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: Let's go there.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: If you have your Bibles, get them out, put them in your hand.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Let's read the Word of God together.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: So I want to talk about what James 5 is talking about.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: It's talking about prayer and how to pray.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: And I think it's important that we continue to stay on this topic until we get a really good grasp of what prayer is, how to do it, when to do it, why to do it, um, all of the above, everything that goes to it.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: So let's let's read this scripture.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: In James 5, chapter 1, it says, Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you, your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth eaten, your gold and silver is cankered, wow, what a word.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: And the rust of them shall be witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: Ye have heaped treasures together for the last days.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Behold the hire of the laborers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Cryeth and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabath.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth and have been wanton.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: Ye have nourished your hearts as in the day of slaughter, ye have condemned and killed the just, and he doth not resist you.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: So what is this really talking about?
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: Let's let's look at that, shall we?
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: I want to I want to break this down for you a little bit, okay?
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: Um it's basically talking about um in James Um that in James 5, 1 through 6, it's talking about the rich and how the rich uh you know oppress the poor and God's judgment, okay?
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: God's judgment.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: The condemnation, the cries of exploited laborers, these are unpaid wages.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: You know, the rich brought in laborers and then didn't pay them for the work that they did.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: Okay, so the laborers are crying out, and God hears them, and there's gonna be condemnation brought against the rich for doing this.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: This is a warning that they need to start paying their laborers, they need to start sharing the money that these laborers have helped bring in from their fields.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: There's gonna be judgment.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: And how is this gonna take place?
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: Well, their wealth that they hoarded in luxury, it's gonna corrode.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be moth-eaten, it says.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be cankered.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: What a great word.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: That's a really good way to describe what God is gonna happen.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: What God is telling them is gonna happen, the judgment that's gonna be brought upon the wealth that they've earned.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: This is what's gonna happen to their money.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Then there's gonna be the sin of oppression, which rich men who lived in pleasure will be condemned, and the innocent are likened, they're gonna be like fattened animals for slaughter.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Isn't that crazy?
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be totally crazy when we think about it, okay?
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: Now if we read on, let's let's read on a little bit further.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: It says, Be patient, therefore, brethren.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: We're starting in James five, verse seven, be patient, therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: Behold the husbandman, waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until receives the early and the later rain.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Be ye also patient, sablish your hearts.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: For the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: Behold the judge, standeth before the door.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: Take my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord for an example of suffering, affliction, and of patience.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: So this is really a call to patience, okay?
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: Seven verses seven through eleven, they're talking about how to be patient.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: God is literally wanting us to be patient.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: We have to be patient for the Lord's return, okay?
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: We have to be patient for when we plant the seed, and we have to be patient for our harvest to arrive, okay?
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: We need to not complain about it, not grumble against um each other, against believers, not complain that the harvest isn't coming up quick enough.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: And then we need to also look to the prophets and like to Job as models of enduring suffering for faith.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: You know, these are things that we need to be doing.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: Okay, let's continue on.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: Uh James 5, starting with 12.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath, but let your ear be year, and your nay be nay.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: So your yea be ye and your nay be nay, lest ye fall into combination.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: Is any among you afflicted?
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: Let him pray.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: Is any merry?
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Let him sing psalms.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: Is any sick among you, among you?
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over you over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of the faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: And he, if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven of him.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: This is an a this is literally advice on how to pray.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: We need to pray.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: We're not supposed to have oaths.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: Let your yes be yes, your no be no, okay?
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: And mean it.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: Stick to it, okay?
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: We need to make sure that we're not preventing any falling of ourselves into judgment because we're gonna get judged.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: If we say yay and we do the opposite, we're gonna get judged for that.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: And then there's prayer and suffering.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: We need to pray.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: We also need to be cheerful and sing praises, like in Psalms, like David did, okay?
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: And then there's healing and confession.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: We are to actually call on the elders of the church to come and pray over the sick.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: And we're to confess our sins so that they can be forgiven and we can be healed.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: God wants to heal us, but he also wants us to have faith.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: And he also wants the elders of our church to be obedient in going and praying for those that are sick that have asked for prayer.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: Elders are supposed to be doing this.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: So these are just a couple of things that we have to be doing when it talks about prayer.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: Now let's look at let's look at verse 16.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: It says, confess your faults one to another and pray one for another.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: We're to pray for one another.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: That you may that you may be healed.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: We need to pray for each other.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: We need to pray for one another.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: We need to pray for ourselves, and we need to confess our faults to each other.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: Hey, I'm sorry I made a mistake.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: I wronged you.
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: Will you forgive me?
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: That's what it's like to be righteous.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: When you make a mistake and you go to the person and you say, Hey, I'm sorry I wronged you.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: Can you forgive me?
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: Pray for them.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: Ask them to pray for you.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: The reward is when you turn a sinner from errors, it actually saves their soul from death and it covers sin.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: So be forgiving.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: We need to be forgiving.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: And this is kind of important.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: I think it's super important that we look at this and we understand what is actually happening with all of this.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: When we're talking about this, this is, you know, Elijah is as is an example of answered prayers.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: He went and he prayed and he got his prayers answered.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: Why did Elijah's prayer get answered?
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: Because he took the word of God and he followed it.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: He did what the word of God said.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: This is what the word of God said.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: If you're sick, you go to the elders of a church, you ask them to pray over you.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: You confess your sins to them.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: Now, no, the elders are not your savior.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: You're confessing your sins.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: That's all you're doing.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: You're going to confess your sins, you're going to ask for prayer for your sickness, they're going to lay hands on you, they're going to pray for you, and God's going to help you with your illness.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: God's going to help you.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: If you follow the steps and you're doing it righteously, the way the Word of God tells you to, the outcome is going to be different if you don't do this.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: If you just wake up one day and go, God, I don't feel good, heal me.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: Well, is that how God says to get healed?
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: Is that how God says to go take care of yourself who's sick or somebody else that's sick?
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: These are clear words in the Bible that tell us how to pray.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: A lot of times our prayers are just going up and just bouncing back.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: We want them to break through the gates of heaven and get all the way to God.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: We want our prayers to reach God.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: And the only way they're going to reach God is if we pray the way God tells us to pray.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: If we don't pray in any other manner, then we can't complain if our we cannot complain and murmur and grind if our prayers don't get answered.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: Does that make sense?
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: Do you do you guys understand what I'm saying?
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: If we don't follow the word of God, okay?
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: If we don't get in the word and seek out how God wants us to do things, we just make up our own way.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: God doesn't want us doing that.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: He does not want us doing that.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: We need to be focused on what God wants us to do.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: If God says to go to the church, that's what we need to do.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: Sorry, my dogs are barking.
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: Somebody's probably at the door, it's probably the mailman.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: Or a package is being delivered.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: We've had a lot of that happen this over the holidays, so I apologize for the background noise.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: Anyhow, we need to keep in mind what and when and why and where and how to pray.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: It's important.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: There's so much scripture.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: There's thousands of scripture that teach us and talk to us and help us learn how to pray.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: An effectual, fervent prayer.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: We want it to be effective.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: If not, it's just a waste of time for you and for God.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: So it's important that we get into the Bible, and I love James because it literally is talking about prayer and how to do it, when to do it, and why to do it.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: It talks about the rich, talks about the poor, it talks about the sick, it talks about the needy.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: It talks about, you know, how we're supposed to be.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: The word of God is our instruction manual for our connection with God and our life and how we're supposed to be living.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: And no, we're not perfect.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: We're probably not going to get it right every single day.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: God knows this.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: But we are to be trying.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: We are to be reading God's word and go, you know what?
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: I've been doing this on my own for a long time.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: I think I'm going to try to do it the way God says to do it.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: See what happens.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: I challenge you today to do that.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: Take some scripture and go, you know what, I've never applied this to my life before, but I'm going to apply it today and see where it gets you.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: See how far you get, how you good, how far you go, I mean.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: See what God does, what transformations happen.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: See what kind of strongholds get crushed in your life.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: Because you're actually taking the word of God and you're putting it into effect.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: Kind of like a car.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: You can't go anywhere if you don't put any gasoline in it, right?
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: You you can't go anywhere.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: The word of God is the same way.
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: It can't be effective if you don't apply it.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: You have to apply the word of God to your life in order for it to be effective.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: And in order for it to work, okay?
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: And I want you to be blessed.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: I want you to walk in freedom.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: I want you to have the joy and the strength of the Lord because that's what the word says.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: He wants that for you too.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: He says that in his word as well.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: How exciting! Once we dive in to the scriptures and we start breaking them down, we start reading them and we start understanding them and knowing exactly what God's talking about.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: We start confessing our sins, and then we then we get healing through the elders of our church.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: These are things that we should be doing.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: How often do you get up and you walk around and you don't feel good?
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: You just don't feel good.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: Something's off, okay?
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: And and you think to yourself, man, God, what you know, why can't you just make me feel good?
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: How does it how does it say to get help?
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: God tells you how to go get help.
- 15:31SPEAKER_00: You have to take that first step.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: You have to get the help that you need.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: Seek out the elders of your church, ask them to pray for you.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: It doesn't even have to be a big deal.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: Walk up to one of your elders of your church and say, Hey, can you pray for me?
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: I have not been feeling very good.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, these are some of the things that I've been doing, and and you know, and and and confess your sins.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: I'm not feeling good because of this, and you know, would you please pray for me?
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: Would you pray for healing for me?
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: Would you ask the Lord to take away my sickness?
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: We gotta follow order of operations sometimes in order to get what we want and get what we need.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: There's a lot of people wanting, wanting, wanting, wanting, but they don't want to do the work and getting it.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: I've been there, I've done it.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: I'm confessing to you right now.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: I'm a sinner, you know, I'm also saved by grace.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: I'm also learning that God, when God speaks and he tells us to do something, we need to get up and we need to go forth.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: The ones that are willing and able are the ones that receive the miracles.
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: Haven't you noticed that in the Bible?
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: When Jesus approached the blind man, Jesus already knew he was blind.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: Jesus already knew he was a healer.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: Here's this healing prophet comes along to the blind man.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: What does he ask the blind man?
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: He asks the blind man, what is it that you want?
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: Even though Jesus already knew what he wanted, Jesus already knew what he needed.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: But the blind man needed to want it.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: The blind man said, I want to see.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: And then Jesus told him what to do in order for him to be able to gain his sight back.
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: He didn't just walk by him and go, Oh, that guy's blind.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: Boom, gave him his sight.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: The guy had to want it.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: The blind man needed to want to see.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: He had to be willing.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: Are you willing today?
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: Are you willing?
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: Are you blinded by something today?
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: Is your prayer life not effectual?
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: Is it not working for you?
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: Are your prayers not being answered?
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: These are questions I want to talk to you about because this this is so important.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: James, it really breaks down prayer.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: Also breaks down the different types of people.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: If you're rich and you're selfish and you're greedy and you're not paying your laborers, you're hoarding everything for yourself.
- 18:13SPEAKER_00: He's actually gonna, you know, let the moths eat all your money.
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: You're gonna be empty-handed.
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: You may be rich here on earth, but when you get to heaven, you won't be.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: When you get to the pearly gates and you have to stand before God, it will not be pleasant.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: Think about it.
- 18:34SPEAKER_00: The Bible also talks about the meek and the lowly will inherit the earth.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: Not the rich.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: Not the rich.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: See the see when you're really rich, you you become powerful and you become manipulative, and you get everything you want because of money, not because of who you are.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: It's almost a disgrace to be rich, I I I think.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: But I mean, there's nothing wrong with having money and being financially stable and having certain things in your life, that's okay.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: But if you're taking advantage of people and not helping in areas where you could be helping because you have all of these extra funds in your pocket, God's gonna have a problem with that.
- 19:23SPEAKER_00: And he does have a problem with that, and he talks about that because there isn't a problem with making money, it's what you do with it, it's how you act with it.
- 19:31SPEAKER_00: Do you manipulate people?
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: Do you buy people?
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: Do you get some of the things that you want in life because you're purchasing that?
- 19:43SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we buy people outright, buy them.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: Think about overseas and here in America, even here in America.
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: We always say overseas, overseas, overseas, but it's happening right here in America.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: Again, the blinders need to come down.
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: The sex trafficking ring.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: It's a highly profitable organization.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: It stems from money, which is the root of evil, into a very dark and sickened world.
- 20:23SPEAKER_00: People are really getting hurt from it because they have the money.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: People will sell their kids for the money.
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: People will take your kids for the money.
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: We need to be really mindful and be careful.
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: We need to know what we're doing with our money.
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: Pray and ask God.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: God to show you.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: If he wants you to prosper, he's gonna let you prosper.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: But you need to make sure that prosperity is a blessing, not a curse.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: It isn't the root of your evil that that is put in your pocket.
- 21:04SPEAKER_00: So pray about it.
- 21:05SPEAKER_00: We need to be in constant prayer with God and finding out what it is he has for our life so that we can live up to our God-given purpose, so we can fulfill it.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: Each per person has been given an assignment, place on them.
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: So I just want to encourage you today.
- 21:22SPEAKER_00: I really want to encourage you today to get into the Word of God, seek out a passage, look up prayer scriptures.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: There's thousands of prayer scriptures.
- 21:31SPEAKER_00: Ask God, show me one scripture today, Lord, that will help my prayer life get better.
- 21:36SPEAKER_00: I've been doing this every day for a while now because my prayer life was very weak.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: Very, very weak.
- 21:45unknown: Okay.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: And a lot of things were not coming to pass.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: I would pray for things and they wouldn't happen, and I would get frustrated, and I'd be like, well, you know, like we always do, why are you answering their prayers?
- 21:59SPEAKER_00: You're not answering mine.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: That kind of selfish, ungrateful, um, having that no-gratitude attitude.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: I decided I needed to seek out prayer and scripture and find out what God wants me to do and how he wants me to do it.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: If we're to be asking for for things in prayer, God tells us how to do that.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: And what we're to be asking for in prayer.
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: If I'm asking for selfish things in prayer, God's not gonna grant that.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: God knows what you need.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: Sometimes you're gonna pray for stuff and he's gonna grant it, and you're gonna wish he hadn't.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: God's done that too.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: You might be like, well, why would God want to show me a lesson like that?
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: Well, you asked him to give it to you.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: You gotta be careful, be mindful of what you're praying for.
- 22:49SPEAKER_00: Prayer is very important.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: So I just wanted to share that with you today.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: I wanted to bring that to the table and just um talk about it.
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: Get into the book of James.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: Book of James is really good.
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: It it shares a lot.
- 23:05SPEAKER_00: A lot.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: And it's really good when it comes to understanding how to pray and what to pray.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: Um Elijah's prayers get answered, and it shows you how and why.
- 23:24SPEAKER_00: So it's a really good book to get into if you're really wanting to step into that grace.
- 23:31SPEAKER_00: If you want your prayers answered, what are you doing?
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: What are you doing right and what are you doing wrong in your prayer life?
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it's just something simple that we're doing, that's just not working.
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: Get into the word of God, research it, look it up.
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: Start in the book of James.
- 23:47SPEAKER_00: James 5 is a good chapter to start in.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: But start at the beginning.
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: Read the whole book of James, it's really good.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: Every book of the Bible is good, I think, but um just start there, just dive in.
