- 2:24Speaker 2: kick is set for 6.30 tonight. You can hear it
- 2:27Speaker 2: right here on The Zone. B, we get our walk-in today. Yep. Hey,
- 2:32Speaker 2: you say we don't ever start with NFL. What do
- 2:33Speaker 2: you think about Jeffrey Simmons being traded to Chicago?
- 2:38Speaker 1: It's pretty big.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Hype has already started.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I knew immediately.
- 2:41Speaker 3: I knew the second this happened that the Rams-style hype.
- 2:46Speaker 3: I referred to it. I actually texted Saints Bro right
- 2:48Speaker 3: as it happened. Rams 2.0. And sure enough, 10 minutes later,
- 2:53Speaker 3: their Super Bowl odds shot up.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Did they really?
- 2:57Speaker 3: Already. We're looking at this now like a Miles Garrett-style trade,
- 3:03Speaker 3: which that's worked out real.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Well for the Rams. So you're saying it's a nothing burger?
- 3:10Speaker 1: Oh, no, no, no.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Jeffrey Simmons is actually producing this season. I'm just saying, hype-wise,
- 3:19Speaker 3: they would start talking Bears Super Bowl.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Well, to your credit, courtesy of Ameristar Casino, Penn Gaming,
- 3:26Speaker 2: they're up to No. 5 on Super Bowl odds. 11-1
- 3:30Speaker 2: behind the Seahawks at 10-1, Chiefs 9-1, Bills 6.5-1, and
- 3:34Speaker 2: your 49ers at 6-1 leading in the clubhouse. So you're right,
- 3:37Speaker 2: they have moved up. Because I think they were sitting
- 3:39Speaker 2: around 17 or 18, maybe 15. So we'll talk that
- 3:43Speaker 2: if you want to get into that. Of course, Mississippi State,
- 3:45Speaker 2: you know, with two quarterbacks this weekend with Billy Puckett, A.J.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Swan heading to Texas, Ole Miss, big ballgame in Oxford
- 3:53Speaker 2: and more. A lot of news and notes to get
- 3:55Speaker 2: to you today. All right, so the first thing is
- 3:59Speaker 2: there's a lot of chatter about a group of six
- 4:01Speaker 2: playoff now. Finally, they're chattering about a group of six playoffs,
- 4:05Speaker 2: and it needs to be. Chris Finini with The Athletic
- 4:07Speaker 2: says the G6 will never voluntarily make their own separate
- 4:12Speaker 2: playoff and give up the CFP access, but an NIT-like
- 4:15Speaker 2: event for non-CFP G6 teams has been informally discussed for years.
- 4:22Speaker 2: As Chris Finini references an article he wrote back in 2024,
- 4:26Speaker 2: on this topic, and we've got more on this. June
- 4:30Speaker 2: Jones has passed away. Warriors All-Access Hawaii. Since we're saddened
- 4:36Speaker 2: to hear the passing of legendary Hawaii football coach June Jones,
- 4:39Speaker 2: he is UH's winningest head coach with 76 wins, the
- 4:44Speaker 2: master in the run and shoot offense, and a great
- 4:48Speaker 2: mentor and teacher of the game. He was 73 years old.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Rest in aloha as June Jones has passed away. And
- 4:54Speaker 2: I remember June Jones, a very good football coach, and
- 4:58Speaker 2: really did kind of put Hawaii on the map there
- 5:00Speaker 2: for a number of years. He has passed away. And Beaver,
- 5:03Speaker 2: who else did you say passed away today?
- 5:06Speaker 1: Patrick Stewart.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Patrick Stewart. So we've got two, and that thing runs
- 5:10Speaker 2: in threes. All right. Brett McMurphy on this G6 playoffs
- 5:15Speaker 2: says nearly two-thirds of a group of six coaches want
- 5:17Speaker 2: their own playoff with one condition on three surveyed all
- 5:21Speaker 2: 70 coaches. A G6 coach quote says, Anyone who says
- 5:25Speaker 2: a G6 team can win a national title in today's
- 5:27Speaker 2: NIL environment is delusional. Well, what is the one exception?
- 5:31Speaker 2: We will get into that and get into this on
- 5:35Speaker 2: the group of six. Majority of G6 coaches favor the
- 5:38Speaker 2: G6 playoff as long as a G6 is still guaranteed
- 5:42Speaker 2: a spot in the college football playoff. Now, this is
- 5:46Speaker 2: all monetary, right? That's what this is. They want the
- 5:50Speaker 2: money out of the college football playoff. the 12 team
- 5:54Speaker 2: that's going to be expanded to 24, they're not going
- 5:57Speaker 2: to get this. You can't play in both playoffs, group
- 5:59Speaker 2: of six. You have your playoff, and then you stay
- 6:03Speaker 2: out of the other playoff. Or you don't have your playoff,
- 6:06Speaker 2: and you get one measly team in the 12, and
- 6:09Speaker 2: they're going to give you one measly team in the
- 6:13Speaker 2: 24 team. And you got one coach here that said, hey, look,
- 6:17Speaker 2: we know the group of six can't win the big tournament.
- 6:20Speaker 2: They're not going to be able to, but they still
- 6:22Speaker 2: want the access. They want the access for the money.
- 6:25Speaker 2: The Big Ten has adopted new conference rules that align
- 6:28Speaker 2: with athletic and athlete compensation framework in the Protect College
- 6:32Speaker 2: Sports Act, raising their cap from $ 21. 6 to $ 49 million,
- 6:36Speaker 2: creating strict rules on school-affiliated third-party NIL and established penalties
- 6:41Speaker 2: for exceeding the cap. Now, this was yesterday, and this
- 6:46Speaker 2: has caused a little bit of a hornet's nest around
- 6:48Speaker 2: college sports, if you've missed this. The cap right now
- 6:53Speaker 2: as it sits, remember of the money that schools get
- 6:57Speaker 2: is $ 21. 6 million. That goes up incrementally every year.
- 7:02Speaker 4: 4%.
- 7:02Speaker 2: I came here, I think it's 4%. It started at 20.4.
- 7:05Speaker 2: It rose like to 21 and then at 21.6 coming up. Well,
- 7:09Speaker 2: the big 10 has increased their cap internally to 49 million,
- 7:13Speaker 2: but they're saying, now this isn't the cap. This is
- 7:15Speaker 2: our NILs cap. They've created a cap. Um, And it
- 7:19Speaker 2: says the Big Ten isn't independently raising the cap. It
- 7:22Speaker 2: is permitting a certain amount of school-affiliated third-party NIL deals,
- 7:25Speaker 2: around $ 27 million, which must still pass through the CSE.
- 7:29Speaker 2: That's the College Sports Commission. It is penalizing schools for
- 7:32Speaker 2: exceeding a set amount for school-affiliated third-party deals. The conference
- 7:37Speaker 2: remains fully supportive of the bill. These new rules permit
- 7:41Speaker 2: schools from operating within the bill's framework. which increases the
- 7:47Speaker 2: athletic cap from, as we said, $ 21. 6 million to $ 49 million.
- 7:50Speaker 2: But the problem with this is the College Sports Commission
- 7:56Speaker 2: and the NCAA is kicking back on this because they said, hey,
- 8:02Speaker 2: this is going to be in violation of everything that's
- 8:03Speaker 2: set up. So there's fixing to be a court battle
- 8:05Speaker 2: on this as the Big Ten, again. You know, the
- 8:07Speaker 2: Big Ten, they've felt themselves over the last couple of
- 8:10Speaker 2: years with three national championships, and they've pressed the framework.
- 8:14Speaker 2: In every way. Wanted the SEC to play nine conference games.
- 8:17Speaker 2: The SEC played nine games. They said, if you'll just
- 8:19Speaker 2: do that, we'll expand the playoff to 16. They did it. Said, no,
- 8:22Speaker 2: we want to go to 24. So they're pushing the
- 8:25Speaker 2: envelope on a lot of stuff out there in the
- 8:27Speaker 2: Big Ten. NFL news. Patriots wide receiver A.J. Brown not
- 8:32Speaker 2: spotted at practice today. Is not practicing because of a
- 8:34Speaker 2: knee injury or knee issue that has flared up. Brown
- 8:38Speaker 2: also was listed on yesterday's injury report with an ankle.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Knee was added. as well as his status for Sunday's game,
- 8:44Speaker 2: is up in the air. If you've got him on
- 8:45Speaker 2: your fantasy team and if you're a New England Patriot fan,
- 8:48Speaker 2: that is out there. Again, it's official. Tennessee Titans send
- 8:51Speaker 2: Jeffrey Simmons and a 2028 fifth-round pick to the Chicago Bears.
- 8:56Speaker 2: It is officially unofficial. Rebuild time in Tennessee. For that,
- 9:01Speaker 2: they've got a first-round pick in 2027 next year, this
- 9:05Speaker 2: coming spring, a fourth-round pick, and a 2028 first-round pick.
- 9:10Speaker 2: for Jeffrey Simmons. The Bears get Jeffrey Simmons. As Beef said,
- 9:12Speaker 2: their Super Bowl odds have increased now to 11-1. Chargers
- 9:17Speaker 2: coach Jim Harbaugh says he's sticking with the OC Mike McDaniel,
- 9:20Speaker 2: his play caller, after a week of reflection. Quote, we're
- 9:23Speaker 2: very confident in Mike and his talent, his work ethic,
- 9:26Speaker 2: and his ability. 601-885-3776. If you want to text the show,

- 11:20Speaker 2: 1-0-5-9 if you want to call us. That's the Mississippi
- 11:23Speaker 2: Sports Medicine caller line as we get you through the afternoon. Again,
- 11:28Speaker 2: Mike McDaniel right now safe out in Charger World. Also,
- 11:33Speaker 2: the Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was a full participant in
- 11:36Speaker 2: practice yesterday. Yesterday, first time since he's had a knee
- 11:41Speaker 2: or excuse me, his ankle injury. So he's back at practice.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Ohio State Athletics Director Ross Bjork says the Big Ten
- 11:47Speaker 2: is exploring a football scheduling model for 2028 based on
- 11:50Speaker 2: the previous year's standings. Quote, so next year's schedule, we
- 11:55Speaker 2: would not know who we're playing other than protecting the
- 11:59Speaker 2: rivalry games. Obviously, we have the biggest one, right? Of course,
- 12:02Speaker 2: he's referring to Ohio State and Michigan. Other than that,
- 12:05Speaker 2: the rest of the schedule could be based on how
- 12:06Speaker 2: we did, how did the teams finish in the previous year.
- 12:11Speaker 2: That's how the NFL does it. So he's talking about
- 12:13Speaker 2: kind of layer in the schedule. I mean, if you
- 12:15Speaker 2: finish first, then you're likely going to have, you know,
- 12:17Speaker 2: one of the harder schedules in the conference. You finish last,
- 12:19Speaker 2: you may have one of the easier schedules in the
- 12:22Speaker 2: Big Ten. And also, some odds out on Polymarket. Of course,
- 12:27Speaker 2: you've got Clemson, Florida State, which used to be a
- 12:30Speaker 2: massive ballgame. And, you know, we've talked a lot about
- 12:32Speaker 2: several matchups over the last several weeks. You know, Michigan,
- 12:36Speaker 2: Penn State, Georgia, Auburn, which turned out to be a classic.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Florida State, Miami, it turned out to be a classic. Clemson,
- 12:43Speaker 2: Florida State's another one that, you know, for years people
- 12:45Speaker 2: tuned into when both these teams were really good and
- 12:49Speaker 2: when Clemson kind of wrestled the baton away from Florida
- 12:52Speaker 2: State and the ACC. But the betters, courtesy of Polymarket,
- 12:56Speaker 2: the populous money's coming in on Florida State, 67% to 33%. Again,
- 13:01Speaker 2: Dabo Swinney, I just don't know. I don't know how
- 13:03Speaker 2: long they're going to hang on there. Also, Michigan has
- 13:07Speaker 2: announced they will start quarterback Tommy Carr against Rutgers on Saturday.
- 13:12Speaker 2: So they have officially moved in a different direction at quarterback.
- 13:16Speaker 2: The Wolverines will move on with Tommy Carr. Lane Kiffin
- 13:19Speaker 2: on LSU Alabama, which got the 230 slot central. Instead
- 13:24Speaker 2: of the night game, he expected, quote, if someone thinks
- 13:26Speaker 2: the SEC wants us to win this year after what's
- 13:29Speaker 2: been going on, they must have been on Mars the
- 13:32Speaker 2: last four months. So I guess when I look at
- 13:35Speaker 2: it that way, I'm not surprised. So Kiffin, not happy
- 13:39Speaker 2: with the 230 kick. He wanted the night kick. But again,
- 13:42Speaker 2: Lane Kiffin has spent his time in Baton Rouge doing
- 13:45Speaker 2: an awful lot of whining, awful lot of whining. And,
- 13:48Speaker 2: of course, Kiffin doubles down on his decision to leave
- 13:50Speaker 2: Ole Miss for LSU. Quote, I never thought twice about
- 13:53Speaker 2: it or about this decision, he added, to see that
- 13:58Speaker 2: we played already as well as anybody in the country
- 14:00Speaker 2: at times and could be a really dangerous team. We're
- 14:03Speaker 2: able to do that in an offseason. And he continues
- 14:07Speaker 2: that– to do that in an offseason. So as crazy
- 14:10Speaker 2: as it sounds, we will always have better rosters than
- 14:14Speaker 2: we did this year. He's referring, of course, to LSU saying, hey, look,
- 14:18Speaker 2: we're playing good. And I never blinked about leaving Ole Miss,
- 14:22Speaker 2: which kind of lied about that, right? Because, I mean,
- 14:24Speaker 2: he was talking about how hard it was. Oxford made
- 14:26Speaker 2: him a changed man. Now, of course, he's just gone
- 14:28Speaker 2: all in. He's gone all villain. And Perlian Kiffin, he's
- 14:33Speaker 2: glad to be at LSU. Hey, Ohio State's taking on
- 14:35Speaker 2: USC this weekend. Lincoln Riley could be in big trouble.
- 14:39Speaker 2: And you have to wonder, you know, does he need
- 14:41Speaker 2: to win this ballgame? The Populous Money, courtesy of Polymarket,
- 14:44Speaker 2: has Ohio State winning this ballgame 69% to 31%. Also,
- 14:50Speaker 2: LSU's Lane Kiffin, who's talking a lot this week on
- 14:52Speaker 2: the 2014 playoff, quote, says it had to happen. He
- 14:55Speaker 2: says the conferences are so different. They are. They're different stadiums.
- 14:59Speaker 2: They're different environments. They're different middle to bottom of each conference.
- 15:05Speaker 2: So you're not playing equal schedules. They're not even close.
- 15:08Speaker 2: If you look at an SEC team and gave them
- 15:10Speaker 2: another one of the conference's schedules, they'd average two more wins.
- 15:15Speaker 2: He says, well, that's a big deal. So I say
- 15:18Speaker 2: that if you're going to get more teams, you have
- 15:21Speaker 2: to have a different system because the system is broke
- 15:23Speaker 2: how they pick teams right now. Also, we're going to
- 15:26Speaker 2: get into this coaching carousel. And Maryland, you know, Maryland's
- 15:30Speaker 2: job is open. We've got a Maryland hot board as
- 15:34Speaker 2: well as far as coaches– to kind of compare, you know,
- 15:37Speaker 2: to see what's going on around the country with other teams. And, again,
- 15:41Speaker 2: this coaching carousel is just getting going. Speaking of the
- 15:45Speaker 2: coaching carousel, now that it's spinning, we could expect it
- 15:49Speaker 2: to speed up. Courtesy of On3. com, it says, last year,
- 15:53Speaker 2: two power conference football coaches, UCLA's Deshaun Foster and Virginia
- 15:57Speaker 2: Tech's Brent Prye, got fired after the games of Week 3.
- 16:04Speaker 2: What followed was a hectic and chaotic coaching carousel one
- 16:08Speaker 2: like we haven't seen in quite a while ultimately 18
- 16:11Speaker 2: power conference coaching jobs came open one coach lane kiffin
- 16:15Speaker 2: left a college football playoff bound team for a new
- 16:18Speaker 2: job five schools that had won national titles or enjoyed
- 16:22Speaker 2: undefeated seasons since 2008 that would be auburn florida lsu
- 16:25Speaker 2: michigan and utah all hired new coaches as the sundays
- 16:29Speaker 2: keep passing by this season with no major announcement it
- 16:33Speaker 2: seems this year might be significantly slower But that changed
- 16:36Speaker 2: last week. The 2026 coaching cycle started when Maryland fired
- 16:41Speaker 2: Mike Loxley on October 21st. NC State clipped Dave Dorian,
- 16:45Speaker 2: who was in his 14th year for the Wolfpack, just
- 16:50Speaker 2: days after the Wolfpack lost to Stanford on a Friday night.
- 16:53Speaker 2: And Sunday, Baylor fired Dave Aranda. And now that the
- 16:57Speaker 2: seal's broken, you can expect more things to happen. An
- 17:00Speaker 2: open letter to open an open letter Open to interpretation,
- 17:06Speaker 2: it says on three has reached out and reached a
- 17:09Speaker 2: point in the season where they need to read between
- 17:11Speaker 2: the lines. On Tuesday, Florida State of this week, Florida
- 17:14Speaker 2: State President Richard McCullough released a three-panel open letter on
- 17:17Speaker 2: social media addressing the football situation without once actually mentioning
- 17:22Speaker 2: their football team or coach Mike Norvell. At first, on
- 17:26Speaker 2: three says that they thought the letter was a nothing burger,
- 17:30Speaker 2: but upon repeated readings, two sentences stuck in their ear,
- 17:34Speaker 2: To the top, quote, we are not asking you to
- 17:36Speaker 2: believe that everything is fine, McCullough said. We know that
- 17:39Speaker 2: it's not. So it's interesting when an athletic director speaks
- 17:44Speaker 2: publicly anywhere, if they don't reference the team by name,
- 17:48Speaker 2: you know, hey, us, Florida State, Seminoles, and they sure
- 17:51Speaker 2: don't mention the coach, but they mention we're not asking
- 17:55Speaker 2: you to believe that everything is fine. We know that
- 17:58Speaker 2: it is not. Well, that's not good. That's not good
- 18:00Speaker 2: at all. On three continues, said this sounds like a
- 18:03Speaker 2: president saying that even if the team beats Clemson on Saturday,
- 18:06Speaker 2: everything is still not fine. That's how most people would
- 18:10Speaker 2: read it, and that's how Norvell should read it. And,
- 18:12Speaker 2: of course, if you're Dabo Sweeney, you'd be slightly less
- 18:15Speaker 2: worried but still concerned because if Florida State can beat
- 18:18Speaker 2: Clemson and still plan on firing Norvell, what does that
- 18:21Speaker 2: mean for Sweeney, whose once mighty program has fallen very,
- 18:28Speaker 2: very hard in the last two seasons, very hard. And,
- 18:32Speaker 2: you know, Clemson was a college football playoff team just
- 18:34Speaker 2: two years ago, or the initial 12-team college football playoff.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Now they're nowhere close to sniffing that thing. And Wednesday,
- 18:42Speaker 2: another social media post left no mystery whatsoever. Cody Campbell,
- 18:47Speaker 2: who is considered the Jerry Jones of college football, Texas Tech,
- 18:52Speaker 2: the billionaire from Texas Tech, he ended any speculation about
- 18:58Speaker 2: Texas Tech coach Joey McGuire's job with a few taps
- 19:01Speaker 2: of his fingers responding to a CBS story speculating that
- 19:04Speaker 2: McGuire could be fired if the Red Raiders' high-priced roster
- 19:07Speaker 2: loses a few more games after taking a loss at
- 19:11Speaker 2: Cincinnati last week. Campbell left no doubt as to McGuire's future.
- 19:15Speaker 2: And as he put this out on X, he said,
- 19:17Speaker 2: absolutely nothing is going to change at the head of
- 19:20Speaker 2: position at Texas Tech. Joey McGuire is the perfect fit
- 19:22Speaker 2: for our program. Everybody with an opinion that matters loves him.
- 19:27Speaker 2: He isn't going anywhere, if anything, We are ready, willing,

- 20:58Speaker 2: you can get him on X. Check him out on
- 21:00Speaker 2: the Boom Boom Bug Show, WYTK, in the great state
- 21:02Speaker 2: of Alabama, 12 to 2. Brett, welcome in, sir. How
- 21:04Speaker 2: are you?
- 21:06Speaker 4: Jake, we're doing fine. I was telling Ben, Alabama is
- 21:09Speaker 4: healing with a much, much needed bye week, and Auburn
- 21:14Speaker 4: is praying right now that they can get through the
- 21:17Speaker 4: month of October.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, where you get your bye week matters
- 21:21Speaker 2: for sure. And, you know, with LSU and Alabama, you know,
- 21:24Speaker 2: both in the clubhouse, so to speak, getting ready for
- 21:26Speaker 2: next week, it's a much needed bye. You know, Auburn,
- 21:30Speaker 2: you know, a different team, and like you said, I mean,
- 21:31Speaker 2: you come off the big win against Georgia. Then you
- 21:34Speaker 2: take one on the chin to LSU, coming in at
- 21:36Speaker 2: 2-3 in the league, 4-3 overall. Head to Oxford to
- 21:39Speaker 2: take on an Ole Miss team that took it on
- 21:41Speaker 2: the chin to Texas, now 3-2, 5-2. I don't think Auburn,
- 21:46Speaker 2: publicly they may say, hey, look, we're still fighting for
- 21:47Speaker 2: a college football playoff spot, trying to win out. Ole
- 21:50Speaker 2: Miss is absolutely still there. When you look at this
- 21:54Speaker 2: game this weekend, what are you expected to see?
- 21:55Speaker 4: I expect to see a final score somewhere around 38-28.
- 22:02Speaker 4: Both of these defenses have struggled. Auburn beat Georgia because
- 22:08Speaker 4: Georgia beat themselves. Now, Georgia, again, Georgia-Florida is going to
- 22:13Speaker 4: be a very entertaining game. Both those teams rested. Coming
- 22:17Speaker 4: off a bye, but Auburn just got the biggest disappointment.
- 22:23Speaker 4: Every time we talk to a beat writer who covers Auburn,
- 22:27Speaker 4: they tell me it's the defense.
- 22:29Speaker 1: D.J.
- 22:30Speaker 4: Durkin is... considered and I believe still considered to be
- 22:34Speaker 4: one of the most respected DCs in the SEC and
- 22:39Speaker 4: certainly in the nation, but they haven't been able to
- 22:41Speaker 4: tackle anybody. Now, they played a little bit better against Georgia,
- 22:47Speaker 4: but LSU came in and a lot of people thought, well,
- 22:50Speaker 4: they've got this incredible momentum, but I've been using the
- 22:54Speaker 4: word hangover a to address a lot of these games.
- 22:59Speaker 4: And Auburn had such a big win that, and LSU
- 23:06Speaker 4: just came out and hit them in the face. LSU's
- 23:08Speaker 4: done that to a lot of teams, and particularly the
- 23:10Speaker 4: ones that have won. But Auburn has not been able
- 23:13Speaker 4: to win the line of scrimmage. Defensively, tackling has been
- 23:18Speaker 4: a major issue. Sam Levitt, the LSU quarterback, just shredded
- 23:23Speaker 4: the Auburn secondary defense Had a key 70-yard pass, a
- 23:27Speaker 4: little slant that went the distance. But both of these defenses,
- 23:33Speaker 4: Ole Miss, as you know, they're giving up 160 yards
- 23:36Speaker 4: a game rushing. Now, can they tighten up a little
- 23:40Speaker 4: bit more? Texas, of course, won that exciting game last week.
- 23:44Speaker 4: Brown ran wild in the fourth quarter. But Auburn is
- 23:48Speaker 4: just trying to get through. I do think this is
- 23:50Speaker 4: going to be a close game for the majority of
- 23:53Speaker 4: the game. But I just don't see Auburn's defense faring
- 23:57Speaker 4: any better against Trinidad Chambliss. If Chambliss is healthy, is
- 24:04Speaker 4: able to get out of the pocket, and I give
- 24:06Speaker 4: Texas credit for keeping him in the pocket more than
- 24:09Speaker 4: a lot of other teams have, I just don't see
- 24:12Speaker 4: an Auburn defense that's going to be able to, even
- 24:15Speaker 4: with Keewan Lacey not playing, and they've got some other
- 24:19Speaker 4: Sunday Brownie backers, I just don't see the Auburn defense
- 24:23Speaker 4: being able to keep up in this game. In fact,
- 24:25Speaker 4: I'm going to probably pick something like 35-24, 38-28 Ole Miss.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Brent Beard talking Ole Miss and Auburn. Thursday edition of
- 24:35Speaker 2: your program. Make sure to get them on X and
- 24:36Speaker 2: check them out if you're in Alabama, WYTK, 12-2 on
- 24:39Speaker 2: the Boom, Boom, and Bug Show. And, you know, Brent,
- 24:41Speaker 2: when you look at Auburn at 4-3, if that does
- 24:44Speaker 2: come to fruition, I think most people feel like Ole
- 24:46Speaker 2: Miss should probably win the game. Arkansas is a winnable game.
- 24:49Speaker 2: On the road at Mississippi State, especially with Kamario Taylor out,
- 24:53Speaker 2: is a winnable game. Samford's a winnable game. I mean,
- 24:55Speaker 2: that's three right there at seven. That would be, you know,
- 24:58Speaker 2: seven wins if they got all three of those headed
- 24:59Speaker 2: into Alabama to see what happens in the Iron Bowl.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Is the season trending in a way that would be
- 25:06Speaker 2: considered success in year one under Alex Golish?
- 25:10Speaker 4: There's no question. And, Jake, I'm so used to– talking
- 25:15Speaker 4: about Alabama and Georgia, you know, are they going to get,
- 25:18Speaker 4: not only are they going to get the playoffs, are
- 25:21Speaker 4: they going to make it deep into the playoffs and
- 25:24Speaker 4: play for a national championship game? Auburn fans are just
- 25:27Speaker 4: hoping for a winning season. When you haven't won in
- 25:31Speaker 4: five years now, you stated it pretty well, Auburn with Arkansas,
- 25:38Speaker 4: Mississippi State, and Sanford, they should win three consecutive games
- 25:42Speaker 4: Arkansas has given them some problems in Auburn for years.
- 25:46Speaker 4: In fact, they won there two years ago in Alabama. Again,
- 25:50Speaker 4: on paper, should take care of business. Listen, they would
- 25:54Speaker 4: roll two tumors corner if they went 6-6 and went
- 25:59Speaker 4: to a minor bowl. The Auburn offensive line has been
- 26:03Speaker 4: the issue pretty much the entire season. They've got some
- 26:07Speaker 4: pretty good players. Joe Simmons left and co-passed. in Stanton-Romeo,
- 26:13Speaker 4: but they've been beat up. They've been interchanging players. And
- 26:18Speaker 4: their offense, when they're not turning the ball over or
- 26:21Speaker 4: getting penalized, they can move the ball like they did
- 26:25Speaker 4: against Georgia. But, yes, to answer your question, if they
- 26:29Speaker 4: win six games, they would be glad. If they won
- 26:32Speaker 4: seven games and won a bowl game, they'd be ecstatic
- 26:35Speaker 4: right now.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Brett, looking around the rest of the league, when you
- 26:40Speaker 2: look at Georgia obviously sitting at the top of the conference,
- 26:44Speaker 2: Kentucky's got to be the story right now at 5-1,
- 26:46Speaker 2: 7-1 overall. Your thoughts on that. Kentucky's still got a
- 26:51Speaker 2: slate coming up, but your thoughts on Kentucky and the
- 26:54Speaker 2: work they have done here in year one of a
- 26:56Speaker 2: new staff, new quarterback, and kind of all new pieces.
- 26:59Speaker 4: Jake, every time we talk to a Kentucky media member,
- 27:03Speaker 4: But they just tell us the fan base is just ecstatic.
- 27:08Speaker 4: They don't do– I keep saying this. They don't do
- 27:12Speaker 4: a lot of things well. But, again, the sum is
- 27:17Speaker 4: greater than the parts. I'll tell you the reason why
- 27:20Speaker 4: they're ranked number nine in the nation is they don't
- 27:23Speaker 4: beat themselves. They are– Minchie, for example, the transfer from
- 27:29Speaker 4: Notre Dame, has one interception. They're plus 13 in turnovers.
- 27:37Speaker 4: They're one of the least penalized teams. They can run
- 27:41Speaker 4: the ball. The blue wall is kind of the blue
- 27:44Speaker 4: wall again. And winning is contagious. Now, you kind of
- 27:51Speaker 4: alluded to it. They've got a tough November. I don't
- 27:55Speaker 4: think there's any way they're going to go through Tennessee, Florida,
- 27:58Speaker 4: and Missouri together. and not lose one game or not
- 28:02Speaker 4: even lose two games. But listen, that fan base is
- 28:07Speaker 4: more excited right now than they've ever been. I know
- 28:11Speaker 4: Stoops won 10 games in 2021, but this is a
- 28:16Speaker 4: little bit different. This team is that they're not a
- 28:20Speaker 4: lot of superstars. They just simply don't beat themselves, and
- 28:24Speaker 4: they find a way to win a game at the
- 28:26Speaker 4: end of the game.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Final minutes here with Brett Beard talking college football and
- 28:32Speaker 2: the SEC. Brett, you know, there's no way we're going
- 28:35Speaker 2: to know. I mean, you've got Kentucky and Georgia now
- 28:37Speaker 2: with one loss, Bama, LSU, Tennessee, Florida, Ole Miss, Missouri, Texas.
- 28:43Speaker 2: I mean, that's half the league with two losses. You
- 28:45Speaker 2: figure half those teams are going to have three losses.
- 28:48Speaker 2: How many teams do you anticipate the SEC gets in
- 28:50Speaker 2: this playoff? And I don't know that we really know
- 28:51Speaker 2: that because it's all based on what happens in the
- 28:54Speaker 2: other conferences.
- 28:55Speaker 4: Jake, it's just up in the air right now. The
- 28:59Speaker 4: two teams that play in Atlanta for the final time,
- 29:03Speaker 4: I think both of them have two losses. I don't
- 29:05Speaker 4: think people look, well, who can beat Georgia? Well, Ole Miss, Missouri,
- 29:12Speaker 4: South Carolina, I think Georgia gets one more loss. Jake,
- 29:17Speaker 4: I think this is the year to where you have
- 29:20Speaker 4: a couple of 9-3 teams, and we know where this
- 29:23Speaker 4: is going when you go to 24, but right now,
- 29:28Speaker 4: I would speculate for sure that the SEC gets in three,
- 29:33Speaker 4: maybe four. But it's going to depend upon the committee.
- 29:38Speaker 4: They've got to look at strength of schedule because I
- 29:41Speaker 4: think all the teams have got two, and it wouldn't
- 29:43Speaker 4: surprise me if at least one of the teams from
- 29:46Speaker 4: the SEC got three.
- 29:49Speaker 2: I agree with you 100%, and I think we're going
- 29:51Speaker 2: to have some teams get left out that there's going
- 29:53Speaker 2: to be a lot of crying and gnashing of teeth
- 29:56Speaker 2: come that Sunday night on Selection Sunday. Make sure to
- 29:59Speaker 2: get him on X. Check him out in the great
- 30:01Speaker 2: state of Alabama on WYTK. It's the Bumu and Buck Show. Brett,

- 31:48Speaker 2: in Green Bay. And Green Bay is a 3.5-point favorite.
- 31:58Speaker 2: That total is at 47. Coming up tonight, NCAA football.
- 32:03Speaker 2: You've got a couple games tonight. Florida Atlantic and North Texas.
- 32:06Speaker 2: North Texas is a 14-point favorite. That total in that
- 32:09Speaker 2: game is one of the highest totals I've seen in
- 32:11Speaker 2: a long.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Time. 77.5.
- 32:15Speaker 2: 77.5 for Florida Atlantic and North Texas tonight. Also, Troy
- 32:19Speaker 2: at James Madison. JMU is a 20-point favorite over Troy.
- 32:23Speaker 2: That total is at 50. And looking at lines coming
- 32:28Speaker 2: up for this weekend, Texas Tech, who dropped their first
- 32:31Speaker 2: ball game of the season, they are a three-and-a-half point
- 32:33Speaker 2: favorite against Arizona. That is a top 25 matchup, number
- 32:37Speaker 2: 13 Texas Tech versus number 22 Arizona. That totals at 55. Iowa,
- 32:42Speaker 2: who dropped a ball game, really just got caught crossways
- 32:46Speaker 2: last week, now puts their college football playoff hopes in
- 32:49Speaker 2: jeopardy with two losses. They are a three-and-a-half point favorite
- 32:52Speaker 2: over Wisconsin. That totals at 37. Notre Dame, again, with
- 32:57Speaker 2: a kick-walk this weekend. They played Navy. They're a 31-point favorite.
- 33:00Speaker 2: You've also got Michigan starting a new quarterback. They're a
- 33:03Speaker 2: 15-point favorite on the road to Rich Rutgers. Ole Miss
- 33:06Speaker 2: is a 12.5-point favorite against Auburn. That's an 11-45 kick
- 33:10Speaker 2: on Saturday. Their total is at 57.5. Also, Colorado is
- 33:15Speaker 2: a 1.5-point favorite over Kansas State. Total is at 47.5.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Sean C. Memphis tagged me and Beavis something on X.
- 33:21Speaker 2: I won't get into it because it wasn't from a
- 33:23Speaker 2: reputable source, but it was from a person out there
- 33:26Speaker 2: talking about Deion's in trouble and that whole deal out
- 33:29Speaker 2: there is in trouble he could this could be it
- 33:31Speaker 2: for him out there Florida v Georgia 230 the cocktail
- 33:35Speaker 2: party number three Georgia versus number 17 Florida Georgia 13
- 33:40Speaker 2: point favorite that totals at 55 and a half Oregon
- 33:43Speaker 2: as a unranked team taking on a ranked team Northwestern
- 33:48Speaker 2: there are four point favorite remember Vegas Keith already talks
- 33:50Speaker 2: about this Vegas just be anytime you see a unranked
- 33:54Speaker 2: team as a favorite against a ranked team at home,
- 33:58Speaker 2: I think 60% to 65%. We won't go 70%. 65%
- 34:01Speaker 2: of the time that unranked team wins. Oregon a four-point
- 34:04Speaker 2: favorite against Northwestern, 47.5% as a total. BYU trying to
- 34:08Speaker 2: get back on the right side of things there, a 16.5%
- 34:10Speaker 2: point favorite versus Arizona State, 48.5% as the total on that. Also,
- 34:14Speaker 2: Southern Miss is a three-and-a-half point favorite, a rare favorite
- 34:18Speaker 2: for Southern Miss on the road at Louisiana Monroe. That's
- 34:21Speaker 2: a 230 kick. Total's at 56.5%. And you've also got
- 34:25Speaker 2: UCLA trying to stand beating. They take on Nevada. They're
- 34:28Speaker 2: a 22-and-a-half-point favorite. And that Clemson-Florida State game, Florida State
- 34:32Speaker 2: is a six-point favorite, six o'clock kick, 49-and-a-half. Miami, a
- 34:38Speaker 2: two-touchdown and a hook favorite, 14-and-a-half over North Carolina, Bill Belichick.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Ohio State is a six-and-a-half-point favorite on the road at USC,
- 34:45Speaker 2: 630 kick, 51-and-a-half. Mississippi State is a 20-and-a-half-point dog on
- 34:50Speaker 2: the road, 630 kick, as they get ready to swan
- 34:54Speaker 2: dive into Texas on Saturday night. Totals at 50.5. Missouri
- 34:58Speaker 2: is a 10-point favorite over Arkansas. And let's see here.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Your latest game, if you want to stay up late,
- 35:07Speaker 2: Oregon State at Fresno State. That kicks at 10 o'clock,
- 35:09Speaker 2: 10 p.m. Five-and-a-half-point favorite is Oregon State. That total is
- 35:14Speaker 2: at 58.5. 601-885-3776. We were talking about the coaching carousel spinning.
- 35:21Speaker 2: Cody Campbell says that the big money man for Texas
- 35:26Speaker 2: Tech said that Joey Maguire is safe. And what's interesting
- 35:29Speaker 2: is when you got your money guy.
- 35:30Speaker 3: I'm sorry, Jake.
- 35:31Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 35:31Speaker 3: You know, I don't like to do this at all.
- 35:34Speaker 3: I'm totally interrupting, but I can't see your face. Obviously,
- 35:39Speaker 3: you're out at the place.
- 35:42Speaker 2: I forget where you... No, wait.
- 35:44Speaker 3: Brandon's tomorrow.
- 35:45Speaker 2: You're out at Heinz.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:46Speaker 2: You're out at Heinz.
- 35:47Speaker 3: I can't see your face, but I.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Got to ask, how.
- 35:52Speaker 3: How proud of you, how proud of yourself are you
- 35:56Speaker 3: after dropping that they're going to swan dive into Texas line?
- 36:00Speaker 3: I just feel like you said that and you just
- 36:03Speaker 3: had a grin on your face like, oh, look what
- 36:05Speaker 3: I just did.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Well, first off, I'm very happy that I know that
- 36:09Speaker 2: you're listening to me. Or maybe that just caught you
- 36:12Speaker 2: and you're like, did he really just say that?
- 36:14Speaker 3: I was playing my bus game over here and I
- 36:18Speaker 3: had to just stop immediately.
- 36:21Speaker 2: I'm trying to give Mississippi State fans something to be
- 36:24Speaker 2: happy about. I mean, you've got to embrace the moment. And,
- 36:29Speaker 2: you know, you've got to be like a swan. You've
- 36:31Speaker 2: got to dive into it. So, I don't know. It's corny.
- 36:34Speaker 2: It's dumb. But it could stick. It could be a T-shirt.
- 36:38Speaker 2: And feel free to interject. I enjoy it when you
- 36:39Speaker 2: do that. But would you wear a swan dive into
- 36:43Speaker 2: a Starkville shirt if we had them printed up?
- 36:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 36:46Speaker 2: Actually, you know what? That one I will allow. It's
- 36:50Speaker 2: better than KT1?
- 36:52Speaker 1: Yes.
- 36:53Speaker 2: Or if Mississippi State goes out there, and look, let's
- 36:57Speaker 2: just say Texas goes back to the Texas Ole Miss
- 37:00Speaker 2: didn't play, where they're just very average, and Arch Manning's
- 37:03Speaker 2: just bumbling around out there. If they were to win that,
- 37:06Speaker 2: will state fans call him AS1?
- 37:11Speaker 1: Oh, no.
- 37:12Speaker 2: No.
- 37:14Speaker 3: Apparently that's what we're doing these days, though, so I
- 37:17Speaker 3: wouldn't put it past anybody to break that one out.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Hey, if you've got any other slogans you want to
- 37:23Speaker 2: put out there for A.J. Swan this weekend, you've got
- 37:25Speaker 2: to get excited about something. I mean, that's what teams
- 37:29Speaker 2: and fan bases do, right? You go to the next
- 37:31Speaker 2: backup quarterback and you hope he's the guy. It's just
- 37:34Speaker 2: like you missed a parlay, so you build another parlay
- 37:37Speaker 2: and you hope you hit that parlay. But you know
- 37:40Speaker 2: college football has changed when you've got the big donors
- 37:44Speaker 2: coming out making public statements about the coach like Cody
- 37:46Speaker 2: Campbell has. I mean, Cody Campbell, he's a donor. He
- 37:50Speaker 2: says nothing's changing. So, I mean, he's out here flexing
- 37:54Speaker 2: on social media. Also, all eyes turn to Los Angeles
- 37:58Speaker 2: this weekend. That statement from Campbell erases any possibility of
- 38:03Speaker 2: USC coach Lincoln Riley landing at his alma mater should
- 38:07Speaker 2: the Trojans administration decide to make a change. I don't
- 38:10Speaker 2: know that Texas Tech would want Lincoln Riley. I mean, look,
- 38:13Speaker 2: Lincoln Riley is not the commodity he was five years ago.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Doesn't mean he's not a good coach. Doesn't mean that.
- 38:19Speaker 2: He can't coach. He's just not one of the better
- 38:21Speaker 2: coaches in the country. With Baylor open and TCU coach
- 38:25Speaker 2: Sonny Dykes in danger, speculation is rampant that Riley could
- 38:30Speaker 2: wind up back in the Big 12, which he won
- 38:33Speaker 2: four times at Oklahoma. On Tuesday, Riley pushed back on
- 38:37Speaker 2: the speculation and says, quote, listen, if I didn't want
- 38:39Speaker 2: to be at this place, I wouldn't have come here
- 38:42Speaker 2: in the first place. I've had plenty of opportunities to leave,
- 38:45Speaker 2: Riley told reporters, and I don't know that I believe that.
- 38:48Speaker 2: That's what I would say if I was him. This
- 38:50Speaker 2: is where I want to be. This is the right
- 38:52Speaker 2: place for me. I'm the right person to be here,
- 38:55Speaker 2: and that's as honest and transparent as I can be
- 38:58Speaker 2: with you guys. I'm sure he does want to be there.
- 39:00Speaker 2: He's getting a good paycheck. He probably likes the gig.
- 39:04Speaker 2: I've never been on that campus. I've never been in
- 39:05Speaker 2: their facilities. I'm sure they're very nice. I'm sure he's
- 39:08Speaker 2: got a heck of a setup out there. But him saying, quote,
- 39:13Speaker 2: if I didn't want to be at this place, I
- 39:15Speaker 2: wouldn't be, Well, it's not up to you, Lincoln, if
- 39:18Speaker 2: we can call him by his first name. It's up
- 39:20Speaker 2: to the administration. And are they tired of being very
- 39:23Speaker 2: mediocre out in SC? So if Ohio State goes out
- 39:27Speaker 2: there and puts one on them, it could be problems
- 39:32Speaker 2: for Lincoln Riley. Riley's offense mustered one measly touchdown in
- 39:37Speaker 2: a 24-7 loss at Wisconsin last week. That's not acceptable
- 39:41Speaker 2: if they're going to be really USC. You can't go
- 39:44Speaker 2: to Wisconsin and drop one touchdown. This isn't Wisconsin- Barry
- 39:49Speaker 2: Alvarez's Wisconsin teams. This isn't Brett Bielema's Wisconsin teams that's
- 39:54Speaker 2: winning 10, 11 ballgames a year in the Big Ten
- 39:56Speaker 2: and road grading everybody. This isn't that version of Wisconsin football.
- 40:01Speaker 2: It's a nice Wisconsin team, like Maryland. Six and six,
- 40:05Speaker 2: seven and five, they're a nice team. They shouldn't hold
- 40:08Speaker 2: you to seven points. And it was also USC's second
- 40:13Speaker 2: loss of the season. The Trojans still have to play
- 40:15Speaker 2: Ohio State, Indiana, and undefeated UCLA. They can finish 7-5.
- 40:21Speaker 2: And I don't care how bad Lincoln Riley wants to
- 40:23Speaker 2: be there, or he wouldn't. They're not paying you $ 10
- 40:27Speaker 2: million to annually go 7-5 and 8-4. You're in the
- 40:31Speaker 2: Big Ten. You're supposed to be a big player in
- 40:34Speaker 2: that league, and you're not. You're brought to you by
