Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. Playfak go to roll right, jumps it off
- 0:07Speaker 1: into the right class to Michael Bumpus, who bounces off
- 0:09Speaker 1: on one tackler gets inside the forty down of the
- 0:12Speaker 1: thirty five yard line. Powered by Seahawks dot Com, Matt
- 0:15Speaker 1: pump fakes looking at the goal line. He throws it
- 0:17Speaker 1: into the end zone. Touchdown Seahawks. It's Michael Bumpus with
- 0:21Speaker 1: a diving catching the end zone ten yard touchdown reception
- 0:25Speaker 1: for Bumpus, and the kid out of Washington State has
- 0:28Speaker 1: found himself a place on this team. Now, here's your host,
- 0:32Speaker 1: Nasa Chuby. Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk. The
- 0:37Speaker 1: Seahawks beat the Giants twenty seven to thirteen at Louman Field.
- 0:41Speaker 1: That's three consecutive victories for the Seahawks. Things are feeling good.
- 0:44Speaker 1: It's a victory Monday here at the Virginia Mason Athletics Center.
- 0:47Speaker 1: We're feeling good about everything that just happened. And we're
- 0:50Speaker 1: about to tell you about that when I'm bringing my
- 0:52Speaker 1: guy Michael Bumpus, what had happened? He see what happened
- 0:56Speaker 1: at first work what had then had another win, another
- 1:05Speaker 1: complete victory from the Seahawks team in all phases of
- 1:07Speaker 1: the game. Offense, defense, special teams, and bum. I'll get
- 1:12Speaker 1: it started right here off top. Man, tell me why
- 1:14Speaker 1: this isn't a fluke. Tell me why what we saw
- 1:16Speaker 1: on Sunday is real. It's real because we've seen this
- 1:18Speaker 1: defense performed now three weeks in a row, six Saxons
- 1:22Speaker 1: comer three sax against Justin Herbert and he got five
- 1:26Speaker 1: against Daniel Jones. We've seen them shut down the run.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Sae Kwon Barkley is arguably the best running back in
- 1:31Speaker 1: the league right now. You shut them down to fifty
- 1:33Speaker 1: three yards eighty eight of total offense, and in just
- 1:37Speaker 1: the way they're doing it was a violent game. It
- 1:39Speaker 1: was the most violent game we've seen since that forty
- 1:42Speaker 1: nine a game. So they're they're checking off some boxes,
- 1:45Speaker 1: they're playing fast or making me believe I bought I
- 1:47Speaker 1: bought Geno stock two weeks ago, so he didn't need
- 1:49Speaker 1: to prove that enough to me. I believe in that already.
- 1:51Speaker 1: It was all about the defense with this one. Yeah,
- 1:53Speaker 1: but the way they're playing, man, it's it's crazy. You
- 1:55Speaker 1: said it, man, It was like a heavyweight fight, especially
- 1:58Speaker 1: that first half. You know, people didn't necessarily love how
- 2:01Speaker 1: it started if you're into a lot of points. The
- 2:03Speaker 1: game started off pretty slow with six straight punts, three
- 2:05Speaker 1: for each team, but people were hitting. You kind of knew.
- 2:08Speaker 1: It was kind of like, Okay, this is a different
- 2:10Speaker 1: kind of ball game right now, and everyone on the
- 2:12Speaker 1: Seahawks defense and offensively was up for the challenge. The
- 2:15Speaker 1: Giants have a much better defensive line in honestly overall
- 2:18Speaker 1: defense than I thought. You know, I'm saying coming into
- 2:20Speaker 1: the game, they ranked pretty low in rush defense and
- 2:23Speaker 1: just overall defense were about nineteenth middle of the back.
- 2:25Speaker 1: But they came to play and their dbs were not scared.
- 2:28Speaker 1: I'll put that out there right now. They got some
- 2:30Speaker 1: ball players over there. So it was it was a
- 2:32Speaker 1: slow start offensively, but the Seahawks did. You finally get
- 2:35Speaker 1: things going with a long, fifteen play sixty nine yard
- 2:38Speaker 1: drive that ended with a three yard touchdown to DK
- 2:41Speaker 1: Metcalf and Bump. What I really liked about that drive
- 2:43Speaker 1: was the Seahawks went for it twice on fourth down.
- 2:46Speaker 1: You know, you get locked on that big conversion, then
- 2:48Speaker 1: you get Disley on a nice little shovel pass inside that.
- 2:51Speaker 1: You know, that's a play that you don't see very often,
- 2:54Speaker 1: and it takes them. It takes some stones to run
- 2:56Speaker 1: that in the goal line bump right, because there are
- 2:57Speaker 1: a lot of things can go wrong. There's penetray. She's
- 3:00Speaker 1: not up front, but Gino the trust was there. Those
- 3:02Speaker 1: two plays set up a touchdown, get the Seahawks on
- 3:05Speaker 1: the board. That shovel passed to Disley. This is how
- 3:07Speaker 1: deep chained Waldron dug into the playbook for that. We
- 3:10Speaker 1: ain't gonna see that again all year. Maybe into the season,
- 3:13Speaker 1: we'll see that play. Those are one of those plays
- 3:15Speaker 1: where like, all right, I got some for you. We
- 3:18Speaker 1: haven't put this on film, you haven't seen this look,
- 3:20Speaker 1: but I got something for you. So yeah, that was
- 3:23Speaker 1: good to see. Man. They go up ten to seven
- 3:26Speaker 1: going into the locker room, and then what happens is
- 3:29Speaker 1: the second half you kind of get that slow start again, right,
- 3:33Speaker 1: you exchange some field goals, but then these guys come
- 3:36Speaker 1: through clutch Man. They go on a five place, seventy
- 3:38Speaker 1: four yard drive any with a thirty three yard touchdown
- 3:40Speaker 1: to Tyler Lockett. What makes that even better is that
- 3:43Speaker 1: before that Tyler Lockett dropped a for sure touchdown, it
- 3:47Speaker 1: hits him in the face mask. I already got my
- 3:49Speaker 1: hands up celebrating and we get deflated something that we
- 3:52Speaker 1: don't see from Tyler Lockett. He also had a fumble
- 3:55Speaker 1: something we don't see from Tyler Lockett. So for them
- 3:57Speaker 1: to go back to him on that drive. And on
- 3:59Speaker 1: that drive, man, you go DK Metcalf on a hitch,
- 4:02Speaker 1: you go good one on a bubble, you go back
- 4:04Speaker 1: to DK Metcalf on a deep out you and then
- 4:07Speaker 1: you you hit Tyler Lockett on a double move. It
- 4:10Speaker 1: was I watched that drive and I said, Okay, these
- 4:13Speaker 1: guys are in a good place and they understand what
- 4:15Speaker 1: this defense is trying to do to attack him. What
- 4:18Speaker 1: I loved about that bump is every time this year,
- 4:21Speaker 1: especially as of late in the last three weeks, when
- 4:23Speaker 1: the Seahawks needed to drive and they needed something, Gino
- 4:26Speaker 1: Smith and It's offense has come through last three weeks.
- 4:28Speaker 1: It started with the Cardinals game. They needed to drive
- 4:31Speaker 1: when they when we gave up the thing on the
- 4:34Speaker 1: punt and it's twelve nine when they need to drive, Boom,
- 4:36Speaker 1: they marched down their best drive to the day score
- 4:38Speaker 1: touchdown to go up chargers when they need to drive
- 4:40Speaker 1: seal the deal. And then last week and Gino was
- 4:43Speaker 1: out there balling. Man, he was throwing some darts out there,
- 4:46Speaker 1: that ball to DK on the sideline right there on
- 4:48Speaker 1: that same drive, and he just came out so composed,
- 4:50Speaker 1: and like we've said it for eight weeks now that
- 4:54Speaker 1: we're shocked about his composure. Now, I just expect this
- 4:56Speaker 1: from Gino. This is who he is, you know what
- 4:59Speaker 1: I'm saying it every getting on board. And then you
- 5:00Speaker 1: mentioned Tyler Lockett, all his teammates coming up to him
- 5:03Speaker 1: and stuff. And I heard DK say on one of
- 5:05Speaker 1: the postgame shows, he goes because you know, Peterrey talked
- 5:08Speaker 1: to him, Gina would talk to him, and he says,
- 5:10Speaker 1: I just kind of let Tyler be because that dude
- 5:12Speaker 1: doesn't mess up. So when something like that happens, you
- 5:15Speaker 1: better be ready from a defensive standpoint. And the last
- 5:18Speaker 1: thing I'll say about that drive with Tyler, as you
- 5:20Speaker 1: could tell he was angry because on that drive he
- 5:22Speaker 1: caught a pass and he wasn't gonna step out of bounds.
- 5:24Speaker 1: He's stepped back and bounds and was fired up. And
- 5:28Speaker 1: I don't think we'll see we might not see another
- 5:30Speaker 1: drop pass from Tyler Lockett and the rest of his career,
- 5:32Speaker 1: like dead serious, if we might not see that, I
- 5:35Speaker 1: cannot tell you another time I've seen that. So good
- 5:38Speaker 1: to see from lock And on that drive and the
- 5:41Speaker 1: defense man, the defense and special teams. Like the special teams,
- 5:46Speaker 1: I mean, they've taken a lot of heat, bump and
- 5:48Speaker 1: rightfully so for some things that have happened. Some really
- 5:50Speaker 1: good things have happened. Trick one, Mike Jackson running things back.
- 5:53Speaker 1: We've Jason Myers has been nails, but there's been moments
- 5:57Speaker 1: where the special teams unit has cost his team points.
- 6:00Speaker 1: On Sunday, they counted for two huge plays that led
- 6:03Speaker 1: to ten points for the Seahawks. So love to see
- 6:05Speaker 1: them doing that. You know, Will Disley forcing a fumble,
- 6:08Speaker 1: recovering one, Travis Homer coming down making some plays. So
- 6:11Speaker 1: good to see Homer back, but getting points off those
- 6:13Speaker 1: from our specism unial was huge to see. Yeah, Uncle
- 6:16Speaker 1: Will Dissey would have forced fumble and a fumble recovery
- 6:18Speaker 1: on special teams. And then you mentioned Travis Homer, first
- 6:20Speaker 1: time back in four games. He makes his mark. He
- 6:23Speaker 1: also had a nice reception out the back field for
- 6:26Speaker 1: twenty one yards. So not only did he help on
- 6:28Speaker 1: special team, he sprinkled in on offense. But when it
- 6:30Speaker 1: was time to shut this game out and put them away,
- 6:34Speaker 1: this young man had eighteen carries for fifty yards. We
- 6:36Speaker 1: were spoiled. Last week saw him go for over a
- 6:38Speaker 1: buck sixty. Ken Walker made it happen. The Giants did
- 6:41Speaker 1: a good job containing ken Walker. They were great tacklers.
- 6:46Speaker 1: But as soon as they decided to go high on
- 6:48Speaker 1: this last little drive right here, that's where you messed up.
- 6:50Speaker 1: You cannot go high on ken Walker when he comes
- 6:52Speaker 1: to tackling, because he will break those tackles. That's what
- 6:55Speaker 1: he did from sixteen yards. Then I was it, man.
- 6:57Speaker 1: The Seahawks beat the six and one Giant. It's twenty
- 7:00Speaker 1: seven to thirteen, and everyone played great. The offense did,
- 7:04Speaker 1: the defense did, and then you mentioned special teams, it was.
- 7:07Speaker 1: It was a good day, man. Jians held to just
- 7:10Speaker 1: two hundred and twenty five yards of offense, the best
- 7:14Speaker 1: defensive performance of the year thus far, not even close,
- 7:18Speaker 1: not in a question. They only gave up two hundred
- 7:19Speaker 1: twenty five yards. A bump wow. Early in the season,
- 7:23Speaker 1: were they were having games that were given up four
- 7:25Speaker 1: fifty over four hundred, and you were thinking, holy smokes,
- 7:28Speaker 1: one of them get figured out. But you what you
- 7:30Speaker 1: always knew was they had defenders. They had tons of
- 7:33Speaker 1: dudes on that defense. They have a great staff there,
- 7:36Speaker 1: Pete Carroll, Clint Hurt, Shauna Side, Carl Scott. They had
- 7:38Speaker 1: too many guys and too many dudes to keep playing
- 7:40Speaker 1: the way they're playing. So love to see this turnaround
- 7:43Speaker 1: from them. But we'll check in on everyone else who
- 7:46Speaker 1: played well on Sunday. Playmakers, playmakers, the man and the
- 8:00Speaker 1: man to legend himself. Can't write him off. He will
- 8:02Speaker 1: not write you back. Gino Smith. Just keep him spin
- 8:05Speaker 1: bars doing what he's doing. Twenty three or thirty four,
- 8:07Speaker 1: two hundred twelve yards, two touchdowns QB rating of one
- 8:11Speaker 1: oh four. Gino Smith six games with multiple touchdown passes
- 8:16Speaker 1: this season. He had just seven of those type of
- 8:18Speaker 1: games in his first nine career seasons. Obviously he didn't
- 8:22Speaker 1: play at that time. But just love to see it,
- 8:24Speaker 1: and I guess to talk about it, or I will
- 8:27Speaker 1: talk about it on this podcast. Gino Revenge Stars two
- 8:30Speaker 1: for two for two. He'll never say that, Pete Carroll,
- 8:33Speaker 1: never say that no one ever talk about that because
- 8:34Speaker 1: he's not focused about that kind of stuff. But we're
- 8:36Speaker 1: not in the games, we're not in the meeting room,
- 8:38Speaker 1: so we can we can look at that. So I
- 8:39Speaker 1: just let this check that box for Gino. That's two.
- 8:42Speaker 1: There's two teams. He played for, two teams that decided
- 8:44Speaker 1: they'd go elsewhere in different direction. Gino got the best
- 8:46Speaker 1: of them each week and each and every week. And honestly,
- 8:49Speaker 1: the coolest thing I saw this morning, bump was I
- 8:52Speaker 1: heard Dan or Lost he talking about it. I heard
- 8:54Speaker 1: different people throughout ESPN and all the networks mentioning him
- 8:58Speaker 1: in the MVP conversation. Wow, do I think he's legitimately
- 9:02Speaker 1: gonna get it? No, because you have Patrick Mahomes, you
- 9:03Speaker 1: have all these Josh Allen, you have guys that have
- 9:06Speaker 1: this track record who have done great things in this league.
- 9:08Speaker 1: But he's finally starting to get that recognition because week
- 9:12Speaker 1: after week after week, the Giants for six and one. Yeah,
- 9:14Speaker 1: it's supposed to be good football team. And Gino continues
- 9:16Speaker 1: to be consistent. He leads in pretty much every statistical
- 9:19Speaker 1: category that of value in the NFC right now, still
- 9:22Speaker 1: the top rated passer in terms of completion percentage. So
- 9:26Speaker 1: I just love that people are finally seeing the guy.
- 9:28Speaker 1: And Gino's the same dude every week. He's that same
- 9:31Speaker 1: dude every week. That's what you love to see from
- 9:33Speaker 1: number seven. So I love to see how he's bawling
- 9:35Speaker 1: out right now. Yep, Gino's balling out. Man, keep it rolling.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Another guy, Tyler Locke. He have five recessions for sixty
- 9:41Speaker 1: three and a down, and with those five receptions, he
- 9:44Speaker 1: passed Doug Balling for third place on the Seattle's all
- 9:46Speaker 1: time recession list. You have four ninety five. He passed
- 9:50Speaker 1: Doug again on all the Time Receiving yards list six thousand,
- 9:53Speaker 1: five hundred ninety eame. Then he passed Darryl Jackson for
- 9:56Speaker 1: third place on sales all the Time Receiving Touchdown's list
- 9:58Speaker 1: with forty eight. And that is after a fumble, that
- 10:01Speaker 1: is after a drop touchdown. He's still found a way
- 10:04Speaker 1: to bounce back and make some plays. Tyler Lockett. Pete
- 10:07Speaker 1: Carl said, Petrupp he gasping him up. He said, oh yeah,
- 10:09Speaker 1: the best receiver I've ever seen, you know what I mean,
- 10:12Speaker 1: And one of the best most definitely no denying that man.
- 10:14Speaker 1: The impact he's had on this on this team, on
- 10:17Speaker 1: this organization. When he first came into the league, he
- 10:19Speaker 1: looked like just a good returner guy, like, Okay, he'll
- 10:21Speaker 1: be a returner. But he's developed. He has his own style.
- 10:25Speaker 1: I was talking to somebody today, his own style that
- 10:28Speaker 1: I've never seen a receiver play the way that Tyler
- 10:30Speaker 1: Lockett does, and it's been working out for him, no
- 10:32Speaker 1: question about it. He does have his own side because
- 10:34Speaker 1: you there's things that he does that bump your receiver.
- 10:37Speaker 1: You coach, you've done all that, You wouldn't teach guys
- 10:39Speaker 1: to do it the way Tyler does. Yeah, but he
- 10:42Speaker 1: makes it. I mean everything that he does is just
- 10:44Speaker 1: he puts his own flare on it. And you can't
- 10:47Speaker 1: guard this man when he if he's not being himself,
- 10:49Speaker 1: there's no way you're being Tyler Lockett. So he's balling out.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Love to see it. Love to see it. And then
- 10:53Speaker 1: the running back we mentioned Cannon a little bit earlier.
- 10:55Speaker 1: You're knocking the statue's not gonna jump out at you.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Eighteen carries, fifty one yards when touchdown. Every one of
- 11:02Speaker 1: those yards was hard earned. Because we mentioned it, the
- 11:04Speaker 1: Giants defense came to play it was a heavyweight fight
- 11:07Speaker 1: and they were all in on stop at ken Walker.
- 11:09Speaker 1: They've seen what Kennon has done in this league so
- 11:11Speaker 1: far this season. But like you said, when it was
- 11:14Speaker 1: closing time, when it was time to go win a
- 11:16Speaker 1: ball game. What I loved about that play too is
- 11:18Speaker 1: you know, the edge fender to the edge defender kind
- 11:21Speaker 1: of loses contain and Gino kind of just kind of
- 11:24Speaker 1: gets in his way just enough, doesn't really block him,
- 11:26Speaker 1: but just kind of shields him just enough gets ken
- 11:29Speaker 1: to the next level. And again, if you're a safety
- 11:32Speaker 1: coming down to tackle ken Walker who has an open
- 11:35Speaker 1: you know, a two way go. We talked about open
- 11:38Speaker 1: field tackle a couple of weeks ago. That's that drill.
- 11:40Speaker 1: But now you're going up against ken Walker in space.
- 11:43Speaker 1: That's tough about what you want to do because he's
- 11:45Speaker 1: strong and you mentioned it, but you can't go a pie,
- 11:48Speaker 1: you can't dive at his legs, can't go a pie.
- 11:50Speaker 1: It's hard to watch his waist because he's got that wiggle.
- 11:52Speaker 1: So it's not a great situation to be in from
- 11:54Speaker 1: a secondary standpoint, and he definitely showed what happened there
- 11:57Speaker 1: and ken Walker again in the end zone, breaking three
- 11:59Speaker 1: tackles on the touchdown rounds to love to see it
- 12:00Speaker 1: from him. K Dove K nine, keep it rolling. This
- 12:04Speaker 1: next guy has been probably one of the best, and
- 12:08Speaker 1: that the best offseason acquisitions. At Chenna the Wilson he
- 12:12Speaker 1: had six tackles, two sacks, two tackles for loss, two
- 12:15Speaker 1: quarterback hits. But I want to take it a bit
- 12:18Speaker 1: deeper with Ken Walker. Man. I was looking up this
- 12:20Speaker 1: guy and what he's done in his career, and he
- 12:22Speaker 1: is on pace to have one of the best of
- 12:25Speaker 1: the best career, our season of his career. In what
- 12:30Speaker 1: twenty ones he last year with the Chargers, this guy
- 12:33Speaker 1: had five sacks, eight tackles for losses, seventeen QB hits,
- 12:36Speaker 1: and four passes defended. Eight games through the season so far,
- 12:39Speaker 1: he's got five sacks, six tackles for loss, t to
- 12:42Speaker 1: QB hits, three passes defended. Like he's playing lights out
- 12:45Speaker 1: on another level right now. Pete Carroll talks about allowing
- 12:48Speaker 1: him to take chances. We're seeing that he's rolling the
- 12:51Speaker 1: dice and he's hitting seven on the come out. Man
- 12:54Speaker 1: chen is doing this thing. When you guys interviewed him
- 12:57Speaker 1: last week on the huddle he just his confidence, everything
- 13:00Speaker 1: about when you look at him. He knows how good
- 13:02Speaker 1: he is. He knew when he went to back to
- 13:04Speaker 1: La to take on the Chargers talking about revenge stores
- 13:06Speaker 1: because Hu Chenna had his two right and people forget.
- 13:09Speaker 1: You're gonna feel sorry about making letting him walk out
- 13:11Speaker 1: of that building because he is a game changer and
- 13:14Speaker 1: he's he's got an NFC player that were defensive Player
- 13:16Speaker 1: of the Week or at one point this year, and
- 13:18Speaker 1: he's getting some of that praise around here internally. But
- 13:21Speaker 1: I know teams that are watching the Seahawks film, they're
- 13:24Speaker 1: circling where number ten is on every single player because
- 13:27Speaker 1: he's a disruptor. He was leading the league coming into
- 13:29Speaker 1: the game, and I'm assuming it stayed that way. At
- 13:31Speaker 1: two sacks in pressures, Chenna is absolutely balling. And that's
- 13:35Speaker 1: just another tip of the captain, John Schneider and this
- 13:37Speaker 1: personnel staff because they knew what they saw on him
- 13:39Speaker 1: and he's making an absolute difference on this defense, on
- 13:43Speaker 1: staying on defense. Mike Jackson another dude. We've given him
- 13:46Speaker 1: a lot of praise going back in a training camp.
- 13:48Speaker 1: This dude plays a lot of plays, plays on special teams,
- 13:51Speaker 1: seven tackles, three PPUs. But he was physical. He was
- 13:55Speaker 1: Nash on Sunday there was he was finishing plays, finishing blots.
- 13:59Speaker 1: He was it was. It was fun to see knocking
- 14:01Speaker 1: tight ends out on the sideline. You caught the football yesterday,
- 14:04Speaker 1: you were gonna feel Michael Jackson because he was getting
- 14:07Speaker 1: after it, and I like to see what he's doing.
- 14:09Speaker 1: From a secondary standpoint, Trey Brown is coming back, but
- 14:12Speaker 1: Mike Jackson impresses me because Cindy Jones has been healthy,
- 14:16Speaker 1: Artie Burns has been healthy. They've each gotten some reps
- 14:19Speaker 1: here and there, but Mike Jackson has continued to stay
- 14:21Speaker 1: in that starting line app which goes to show you
- 14:23Speaker 1: he's got the confidences of this coaching staff and he's
- 14:26Speaker 1: playing real. He's a perfect example of taking advantage of
- 14:29Speaker 1: an opportunity and then holding it down like the thought was, Okay,
- 14:33Speaker 1: you got Mike Jackson here, then once these guys get healthy,
- 14:35Speaker 1: he'll be a two or three. That ain't the case.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Another guy taking advantage of opportunities. Ryan Neil six tackles,
- 14:41Speaker 1: two TFLs. My Man was cramping up in both legs
- 14:44Speaker 1: and was still out there and making plays. Man Ryan
- 14:47Speaker 1: Neil is always around the football, always making plays. Another
- 14:52Speaker 1: guy you love his energy, love his personality, and you
- 14:54Speaker 1: see him on the football field. No reason not to
- 14:56Speaker 1: rock with Ryan Neil, no question about it, and we
- 14:59Speaker 1: talked about it second ago. The special teams, man, I mean,
- 15:03Speaker 1: what else, what else can we say about them? Bump?
- 15:06Speaker 1: I don't know. I think we said it all man,
- 15:07Speaker 1: I honestly say, I mean when you when you forced
- 15:13Speaker 1: two fumbles, there's a there's a big board downstairs where
- 15:16Speaker 1: they have goals. You have goals on for special teams
- 15:18Speaker 1: of what you want to hit, feel position, creating a
- 15:21Speaker 1: big play, not giving up a big play. I haven't
- 15:23Speaker 1: seen the board today, but it's gotta be full. It's
- 15:25Speaker 1: gotta be full because Jason Myers making kicks. People are
- 15:28Speaker 1: being physical and it's good to see because this team
- 15:31Speaker 1: needs a special teams unit needs to be successful all
- 15:33Speaker 1: three phases of the game. Ryan Neil another dude that
- 15:35Speaker 1: helps out on special teams. He's a baller. Things are good,
- 15:38Speaker 1: things feel good. And then Bump. So not not to
- 15:41Speaker 1: be I'm not gonna be negative. But going over to
- 15:43Speaker 1: the receivers before we jump into this roundup, they didn't
- 15:46Speaker 1: have their best game of the season yesterday. There are
- 15:49Speaker 1: some balls that they wish they that could come back
- 15:51Speaker 1: to them, but they're all definitely resilient and on that
- 15:54Speaker 1: final drive to put them my head, you know twenty thirteen,
- 15:58Speaker 1: which is really the game winning drive. You know, Ken
- 16:00Speaker 1: Walker's touching out the end really iced it. But the
- 16:02Speaker 1: drive when those winning time, all those receivers were catching balls,
- 16:07Speaker 1: getting in the end zone. Yep, had some drops, had
- 16:11Speaker 1: a fumble, had some places that you would like back.
- 16:14Speaker 1: But like you said, when is one time they did
- 16:17Speaker 1: their thing? They were wide receiver round up. We talked
- 16:18Speaker 1: about Tyler five for sixty three and a tutty t
- 16:21Speaker 1: dk metcalf. We didn't know if he was gonna play
- 16:23Speaker 1: or not. He shows up, scores a touchdown fifty five
- 16:26Speaker 1: yards from six receptions. Go would have three for thirty three,
- 16:29Speaker 1: and then I want to pick up the tight end
- 16:31Speaker 1: room man. They were five for five for thirty six yards.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Four of those catches wore for first downs. Again, not
- 16:38Speaker 1: gonna wild you with great plays or spectacular plays, but
- 16:42Speaker 1: they're gonna be solid every single week. Ken the Walker
- 16:45Speaker 1: had to catch, the estri had to catch, and then
- 16:47Speaker 1: Travis someone had one big one. That's the round up.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Everybody was invited to the party. Love it, love it.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Now we got to get into the coach's corner bump
- 16:57Speaker 1: and we talked about it throughout this podcast. Tyler Lockett
- 17:00Speaker 1: unfortunately dropped a touchdown passing in the game, also fumbled,
- 17:03Speaker 1: but you cannot hold this man down. Tyler Lockett, as
- 17:06Speaker 1: Pete said, is one of the best receivers he has
- 17:08Speaker 1: ever seen in that showed up on this touchdown. Gino,
- 17:12Speaker 1: We're gonna throw again on first down, pump faith, gonna throw. Gee,
- 17:15Speaker 1: got a man in the corner, get it, lock it, touchdown,
- 17:19Speaker 1: Saint Hawks. What a drive let by Gino Smith. Tyler
- 17:27Speaker 1: Lockett was not gonna let this one get away. He
- 17:31Speaker 1: hung on thirty three yards out and the Seahawks go
- 17:35Speaker 1: on top. Nineteen thirteen. Now, Tyler has passed Darryl Jackson
- 17:41Speaker 1: for third place on the Seahawks all time receiving list
- 17:44Speaker 1: of touchdowns with forty eight. Congratulations to number sixteen. Yeah, man,
- 17:51Speaker 1: I love this and I love the way that this
- 17:54Speaker 1: was set up. So I'll describe before you real quick.
- 17:56Speaker 1: You got a tip's formation to the right, all right.
- 17:59Speaker 1: I believe that is will Disley at the number three
- 18:01Speaker 1: spot and you have no offense. Then Tyler Lockett to
- 18:04Speaker 1: the other side. You got DK Metcalf isolated by himself,
- 18:07Speaker 1: got Ken Walker in the backfield. So what's gonna happen
- 18:11Speaker 1: is DK is gonna run a deep stop or a
- 18:14Speaker 1: deep out. Then you have Uncle Will Disseie has that
- 18:17Speaker 1: deep cross. You got no offense, who's running the seam.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Here's why I love this play call. They ran this
- 18:24Speaker 1: exact same concept the play before the DK Metcalf, he
- 18:26Speaker 1: runs that deep out. Tyler Lockett runs a deep hitch.
- 18:29Speaker 1: They throw it to DK Metcalf, So this defense gets
- 18:32Speaker 1: the same look. May line up in the same look,
- 18:34Speaker 1: all right, that three by one four mission, and then
- 18:36Speaker 1: Gino sees the defensive formation goes, we got this exact
- 18:39Speaker 1: same look. We got him right because Tyler Lockett ran
- 18:42Speaker 1: that hitch the play prior to it. He's gonna run
- 18:45Speaker 1: a deep hitch and go right now, and that dB
- 18:48Speaker 1: bites on him. Man Gino, there's a great job. When
- 18:50Speaker 1: the ball snap staring on that safety. Then he gets
- 18:52Speaker 1: his eyes to Locket. Nice little play fake boom you
- 18:55Speaker 1: go up top. Shane Waldron in this last drive, this
- 18:58Speaker 1: is part of that five seventy five yards, was extremely
- 19:02Speaker 1: patient and gave or took what the defense was given him.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Same playing a row. Just tag Tyler Lockett with a
- 19:08Speaker 1: hitch and godamn touchdown. You know the great play called
- 19:12Speaker 1: great execution offensively on this play a couple of things.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Number One, from a defensive standpoint, anyone who's played dB,
- 19:20Speaker 1: they call this an obleep breath right here when you
- 19:24Speaker 1: break down and it's a double move and you're like,
- 19:26Speaker 1: oh no, oh no, please throw this out of bounds,
- 19:29Speaker 1: Please throw this out of bounces. You got no chance,
- 19:31Speaker 1: You got no chance. And Gino talked about it, he'd
- 19:33Speaker 1: never seen as much zero like ever in his life.
- 19:35Speaker 1: They're playing aggressive. So for Gino and Shane and everyone
- 19:39Speaker 1: be on the same page. I know when this call
- 19:41Speaker 1: came down in the huddle, they're like, oh, Goddy, like
- 19:44Speaker 1: you know that. They were excited. They were hyped, especially Tyler,
- 19:47Speaker 1: who after you know, what had happened earlier in the game.
- 19:49Speaker 1: So just love to see it. It's great execution. And
- 19:52Speaker 1: even the pumpic is subtle enough, right, it doesn't he
- 19:54Speaker 1: doesn't completely take it. It doesn't need to be this
- 19:56Speaker 1: big exaggerated motion as a dB who's jumping everything, playing
- 20:00Speaker 1: incredibly aggressive. Just that subtle move, that hand coming back,
- 20:04Speaker 1: you break downhill and then really all you can do
- 20:07Speaker 1: at that moment is tackle him, and unfortunately for the
- 20:11Speaker 1: defensive back, fortunately for the Seahawks, at that point it
- 20:13Speaker 1: was too late. He couldn't he even if he wanted
- 20:15Speaker 1: to tackle him, Tyler was already buy him at that point.
- 20:17Speaker 1: He didn't take a great angle. Tyler was by him. Touchdown.
- 20:20Speaker 1: It's a rap game over. Love to see execution and
- 20:23Speaker 1: love to see what we're seeing from Locke in Gino Smith.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Love that the Seahawks or five and three, which means
- 20:29Speaker 1: for the third week in a row. Bump for a
- 20:30Speaker 1: little while, concerned we didn't have multiple weeks. Today, this
- 20:33Speaker 1: about three weeks in a row. Victory formation. Here comes
- 20:38Speaker 1: the Seahawk offense onto the field and the Vikings defense
- 20:41Speaker 1: crunching out there knowing that one kneel down and the
- 20:46Speaker 1: Seahawks are gonna wind the clock down and win this one.
- 20:50Speaker 1: It's the victory formation on Hawk Talk. Another game, another
- 20:53Speaker 1: balanced effort from these Seahawks defense, dominating two hundred and
- 20:57Speaker 1: twenty five yards, no real touchdown drives. The only touchdown
- 21:00Speaker 1: on the guy who when they got the ball on
- 21:01Speaker 1: the two yard line, sa Kuon Barkley runs in and
- 21:02Speaker 1: after that the Seahawks put up twenty seven points on
- 21:06Speaker 1: offense nineteen first downs. But I'm just impressive. This is
- 21:11Speaker 1: a stamp. I thought the Chargers the most impressive victory,
- 21:13Speaker 1: and this one kind of goes back and forth, but
- 21:15Speaker 1: it's the most recent and it's the most important than
- 21:17Speaker 1: Giants for six and one. It was America's game in
- 21:19Speaker 1: the week, so I'm hoping the nation got to see
- 21:21Speaker 1: a little bit of what the Seahawks are capable of.
- 21:24Speaker 1: I think they did, and I think that's why you
- 21:25Speaker 1: got Dan Arlovski and all these other folks talking about
- 21:29Speaker 1: the Seahawks in the morning. I love it. Hawks or
- 21:32Speaker 1: two for two on fourth down and the special teams
- 21:35Speaker 1: will give him, give him some more love. Two turnovers
- 21:38Speaker 1: leading to ten points, and Gino Smith does what he does.
- 21:42Speaker 1: This is who he is. He stands tall in the pocket,
- 21:44Speaker 1: he takes care of the football, He's clutched with a
- 21:47Speaker 1: five from five or five hundred drive to end the game.
- 21:50Speaker 1: No turnovers. I mean, what else can we expect from Gino?
- 21:53Speaker 1: This is who he is. This is his DNA. There's
- 21:55Speaker 1: no more second guests than this guy. And then Tyler
- 21:58Speaker 1: Lockett overcame some issues early and gave us the go
- 22:01Speaker 1: ahead touchdown and broke three records while doing it. So
- 22:04Speaker 1: good day for him. Gotta love what we're seeing from
- 22:06Speaker 1: Tyler Man. And the crazy thing about Gino two is
- 22:08Speaker 1: Geno could have four touchdown passes and maybe easy yards. Ye,
- 22:12Speaker 1: so if he did nothing different, if he played the
- 22:14Speaker 1: exact same football game. So knowing that, boy Arizona, I
- 22:19Speaker 1: know you guys have some good defensive backs. Byron Murphy,
- 22:22Speaker 1: you dubbed brow to Baker, you dubbed those guys can
- 22:24Speaker 1: play over there for sure. But Tyler is going to
- 22:27Speaker 1: be motivated. There gonna be juice, and we fired up
- 22:29Speaker 1: this week. It's a big division matchup against the Cardinals
- 22:33Speaker 1: on Sunday. It's gonna be a great battle. Looking forward
- 22:35Speaker 1: to it. The Seahawks five and three, first place in
- 22:39Speaker 1: the NFC West taking on the Cardinals this Sunday. We're
- 22:42Speaker 1: gonna be back with you guys on Wednesday. He's Michael
- 22:44Speaker 1: bumpas some NASA trophy for the preview edition of Hawk Talk,
- 22:47Speaker 1: breaking down everything you need to know about the Arizona
- 22:50Speaker 1: Cardinals and in the NFC West, it has been a
- 22:53Speaker 1: pleasure the Seahawks five and three. As I mentioned, can't
- 22:55Speaker 1: wait to see what happens on Sunday. This is the
- 22:57Speaker 1: addition of the recap. We'll be back on Wednesday. Talk
- 23:01Speaker 1: to you soon. M
