- 0:00Speaker 1: Now this is the Mark Simon Show on sevent ten. Woo, Well,
- 0:08Speaker 1: things are shifting in the mayoral race. We'll get to that.
- 0:12Speaker 1: We'll get to the President's trip. He meets with President
- 0:14Speaker 1: She tonight late tonight. We'll get to the shutdown. We'll
- 0:18Speaker 1: get to the World Series. We'll get to twenty twenty eight.
- 0:22Speaker 1: We'll get to the ballroom, and a whole lot more
- 0:25Speaker 1: coming up. There's people that watch this stuff carefully are
- 0:28Speaker 1: seeing a shift in the mayoral race. More people are
- 0:32Speaker 1: moving towards Cuomo. Curtis, who we love. He'd be He's
- 0:36Speaker 1: the best candidate of the bunch, he'd be the best
- 0:38Speaker 1: mayor of the bunch. But there are voters shifting from
- 0:42Speaker 1: him to Cuomo, despite the fact that they hate Cuomo.
- 0:46Speaker 1: They were horrified by Cuomo's performance in office as governor,
- 0:51Speaker 1: but they're just so terrified of him Donnie City Hall,
- 0:56Speaker 1: that they're more and more people are shifting to Cuomo.
- 0:59Speaker 1: So we don't know if it's too little, too late.
- 1:01Speaker 1: He's still way behind in all the polling, but but
- 1:06Speaker 1: there is a shift, and there is some data showing
- 1:09Speaker 1: the race really tightening. The big big donors are always
- 1:13Speaker 1: the worst in any campaign because at first they always
- 1:16Speaker 1: back the wrong guy. They're never great at helping. They
- 1:20Speaker 1: do more damage than good, these big, big money donors.
- 1:23Speaker 1: But one of the problems is to get mom Donnie
- 1:26Speaker 1: out of this, to take him out of competition. This
- 1:29Speaker 1: had to start about a month and a half ago.
- 1:32Speaker 1: As John McLaughlin, the great Polster, explained to us, you
- 1:35Speaker 1: got to drive his negatives up. You got to get
- 1:37Speaker 1: his negatives up into the fifties. And the way you
- 1:40Speaker 1: do that is massive negative ads against him. Bombard everybody
- 1:46Speaker 1: with these ads showing you things he said in the past,
- 1:48Speaker 1: all that stuff. Well, that's where the big donors have
- 1:51Speaker 1: to spend the money. The big super PACs have to
- 1:53Speaker 1: run those ads. Well, they didn't this time. Where have
- 1:55Speaker 1: they been This is one of the few campaigns where
- 1:59Speaker 1: they haven't been there. You haven't seen those kind of
- 2:00Speaker 1: negative adds. It's because the big donors were terrified of
- 2:04Speaker 1: Mam Donnie winning and then not being able to have
- 2:07Speaker 1: any kind of relationship with him because you can always
- 2:10Speaker 1: tell who donated the money, So out of fear, they
- 2:13Speaker 1: didn't do it. Now it looks like they may start
- 2:15Speaker 1: doing it. It's a little late, about thirty five percent
- 2:18Speaker 1: of the vote is already in because of that early voting.
- 2:21Speaker 1: So it's a little late, but they're going to start
- 2:24Speaker 1: running some negative stuff. You got this weekend to do it,
- 2:29Speaker 1: and then early voting stops. I think Monday. I think
- 2:31Speaker 1: there's no early voting the day before the election. But
- 2:33Speaker 1: then Tuesday's election day. You'll probably get half the votes
- 2:37Speaker 1: on Tuesday. So, but Cuomo has been picking up a
- 2:42Speaker 1: little steam and he's been picking up endorsements. David Patterson
- 2:46Speaker 1: endorsed him, But then David Patterson has endorsed everybody in
- 2:49Speaker 1: the race. He's endorsed Adams. If Curtiss is saying, don't
- 2:53Speaker 1: endorse me, it's the kiss of death. Eric Adams is
- 2:56Speaker 1: endorsed Cuomo. They were campaigning together.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Here they are yesterday, here Adams, Governor Patterson, myself.
- 3:03Speaker 1: We are Democrats.
- 3:04Speaker 2: We've always been Democrats, we will always be Democrats, and
- 3:08Speaker 2: we believe in the democratic values.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Yeah. Now, the only problem is that he keeps, you know,
- 3:14Speaker 1: making that point, I'm the real I'm the actual Democrat. Well,
- 3:17Speaker 1: he was in the Democratic primary and Democrats rejected him.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Democrats voted against him. He's running now on a third party.
- 3:23Speaker 1: He's not the Democratic nominee, but Adams appeared with him yesterday.
- 3:27Speaker 1: We don't need a socialist masquerading as a Democrat.
- 3:31Speaker 2: No one's going to get a free ride, no matter
- 3:33Speaker 2: what some people are promising. But there is a great
- 3:37Speaker 2: opportunity for this city if we elect this gentleman right now,
- 3:43Speaker 2: next Tuesday.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Now that's the Adams and David Patterson together. So here's
- 3:46Speaker 1: the problem. Everybody hates Cuomo. They thought he was He's
- 3:50Speaker 1: a nice guy in real life, but they just thought
- 3:52Speaker 1: he was the worst governor. He caused the crime wave,
- 3:55Speaker 1: the no bail, no jail, the closing the prisons, letting
- 3:58Speaker 1: all the prisoners out, the taken away the qualified immunity
- 4:01Speaker 1: from cops was a horrible thing to do. Cops could
- 4:05Speaker 1: get sued if they went near anybody, so they had
- 4:08Speaker 1: to be very restrained. I mean, he did so many things.
- 4:12Speaker 1: He totally mismanaged the pandemic. He tried to ban the vaccine.
- 4:15Speaker 1: At one point he blocked Ice and threatened to sue them.
- 4:19Speaker 1: He closed Indian Point that drove up that was twenty
- 4:22Speaker 1: five percent of our power, drove up our electric costs.
- 4:26Speaker 1: He picked Kathy Hockle. He's the reason we're stuck with
- 4:28Speaker 1: Kathy Ogle. He gave us the congestion pricing. He's the
- 4:31Speaker 1: one that pushed that through. So he was just terrible
- 4:34Speaker 1: as governor, But many just think Madamie could actually be worse. Obviously,
- 4:39Speaker 1: they're worried most about public safety. But remember it was
- 4:42Speaker 1: Cuomo that gave us the no bail no jail. That
- 4:45Speaker 1: one move single handedly caused the crime wave. He's the
- 4:48Speaker 1: one that pushed it like crazy. But people just think
- 4:52Speaker 1: they'd be safer with him than Mom Donnie. He's probably
- 4:55Speaker 1: probably correct, but even Here's Michael Goodwin today, the great
- 4:57Speaker 1: columnist in the New York Post, and he writes, if
- 5:01Speaker 1: anyone had dared to tell me I would actually vote
- 5:04Speaker 1: for Andrew Cuomo again, I would have shot back. Never.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I was thoroughly disgusted with the former governor, applauded his
- 5:13Speaker 1: forced exit from Albany, and saw no evidence he was
- 5:16Speaker 1: doing anything to make himself fit to hold public office again.
- 5:21Speaker 1: In the three plus years since his resignation, he's continued
- 5:25Speaker 1: to play defense attack as critics, including me Goodwin, but
- 5:29Speaker 1: had done nothing to demonstrate he learned anything or accepted
- 5:33Speaker 1: any responsibility for his historic collapse. There were no apologies
- 5:38Speaker 1: for the heartless nursing home tobaccle he caused. There was
- 5:42Speaker 1: no remorse that he was guilty of sexually harassing thirteen
- 5:46Speaker 1: women accused of harassing them. He never said so directly,
- 5:53Speaker 1: but he seemed to believe if he got back into
- 5:54Speaker 1: politics enough, voters enamored with the Cuomo name would give
- 5:59Speaker 1: him a second chance, even if he didn't show them
- 6:02Speaker 1: why he deserved it. Well, that was the problem in
- 6:06Speaker 1: the primary. He thought just the Cuomo name, the name recognition, whatever,
- 6:11Speaker 1: would help him, but he got wiped out in both
- 6:13Speaker 1: debates in the primary. He got wiped out in the
- 6:15Speaker 1: popular vote in the primary. But Goodwin says, as horrible
- 6:20Speaker 1: as he thinks Cuomo is, he'll vote for him just
- 6:23Speaker 1: to stop mom Donnie. So you're getting more and more
- 6:25Speaker 1: of that. By the way, every piece of polling these
- 6:30Speaker 1: are all kind of junk polls, the dozen of them
- 6:32Speaker 1: that are out there, but every single one shows that
- 6:35Speaker 1: Curtis got out of the race, Cuomo still would be behind,
- 6:39Speaker 1: so it's not about Curtis. And the most detailed polling
- 6:43Speaker 1: shows if Curtis left, thirty six percent of his vote
- 6:47Speaker 1: would go to Cuomo, giving Cuomo an extra four percent,
- 6:51Speaker 1: so if he spot behind ten percent, then he'd be
- 6:54Speaker 1: behind six percent, still not enough to win. The idea
- 6:57Speaker 1: that if Curtis dropped out, all those votes would go
- 6:59Speaker 1: to Cuomo is crazy. It's like saying if the Yankees
- 7:03Speaker 1: lose in the playoffs and don't make the World Series,
- 7:06Speaker 1: all the Yankee fans will then go with the Red Sox.
- 7:09Speaker 1: It doesn't work that way. It may be some of
- 7:11Speaker 1: them just because they like the American League, would cheer
- 7:14Speaker 1: for the Red Sox, but most of the Yankee fans
- 7:16Speaker 1: would not suddenly go to the Red Sox. Same thing
- 7:19Speaker 1: with Curtis. Curtis is not getting out of the race,
- 7:21Speaker 1: no reason why he should. If Cuomo wants to win this,
- 7:24Speaker 1: he's got to win those votes. You can't just force
- 7:28Speaker 1: Sliwa out. Cuomo has to legitimately try to win those
- 7:31Speaker 1: voters away. Well, it looks like there is some movement
- 7:34Speaker 1: like that. He is picking up a little steam. We'll
- 7:38Speaker 1: see if he can do it enough to close the gap.
- 7:40Speaker 1: The race is tighter than the people think. Mamdani is
- 7:46Speaker 1: on course to win. Now. Well, here's what's interesting. If
- 7:49Speaker 1: you try to argue with people about policies that he supports.
- 7:55Speaker 1: In the polling, the majority of residents don't agree with
- 7:59Speaker 1: his This is the fascinating part. They just like him.
- 8:05Speaker 1: The poll found that New Yorkers favor harsher penalties for
- 8:09Speaker 1: fair evasion. They're not looking for free bus fair. They
- 8:13Speaker 1: don't like the bail reform law. Sixty eight percent don't
- 8:18Speaker 1: want the free buses. They thought it would turn them
- 8:20Speaker 1: into homeless shelters. He can go on and on. They're
- 8:23Speaker 1: not in favor of his crime policies, but despite all that,
- 8:25Speaker 1: they were still for them. Now, Mam, Donnie's got all
- 8:29Speaker 1: these horrible comments in the past, you know, they keep
- 8:32Speaker 1: coming up. He said, the NYPD had their boots on
- 8:36Speaker 1: your neck. Is he said, I think I have it
- 8:39Speaker 1: here somewhere. Maybe maybe this is it. This is from
- 8:42Speaker 1: a few years ago. We have to make clear when
- 8:50Speaker 1: it's yes. Yeah. So he said, when the NYPD boot
- 8:54Speaker 1: is on your neck, it's been laced by the IDF.
- 8:56Speaker 1: So that's real, mom, Donni. There he takes a terrible
- 8:59Speaker 1: shot of the police and puts in some anti Semitic,
- 9:03Speaker 1: anti Israel nonsense into the same sentence. So that's what
- 9:07Speaker 1: you're dealing with. Uh, here's Curtis, but he just shows
- 9:11Speaker 1: the hate that he has vote for the idea and
- 9:15Speaker 1: the hate that he has for the NYPD. Yeah, so
- 9:18Speaker 1: all of this is just horrible. But again we are
- 9:20Speaker 1: seeing a shift of voters who don't like Cuomo. They
- 9:24Speaker 1: hate Cuomo, they thought he was a terrible governor. But
- 9:26Speaker 1: there is some movement, some shift over the voting for Cuomo.
- 9:30Speaker 1: We'll see if it's enough. A lot of people really
- 9:34Speaker 1: upset with Kathy Hokele. Now, if Mom Donnie were to
- 9:36Speaker 1: win and be a terrible mayor, that would be the
- 9:38Speaker 1: end of Kathy Hokel. Anybody running against her would just
- 9:41Speaker 1: run the clips of her supporting Mom Donnie and stickiness
- 9:45Speaker 1: with this stuff. She could actually remove him as mayor,
- 9:48Speaker 1: which she won't have the nerve to do. So that's
- 9:50Speaker 1: another reason she'll get voted out of office. She just
- 9:54Speaker 1: panders to him in his socialist crowd. She was at
- 9:57Speaker 1: she appeared at the Mam Donnie rally, and again she'll
- 10:00Speaker 1: never be able to explain that away. What were you
- 10:02Speaker 1: doing at a Mom Donnie rally? Speaking on his behalf,
- 10:05Speaker 1: holding hands with him at the rally? She got booed there,
- 10:08Speaker 1: by the way, even the far left hates her. She
- 10:12Speaker 1: was booed. She said, she's not the brightest woman in
- 10:17Speaker 1: the world. They were booing her like crazy, and she said,
- 10:20Speaker 1: I thought they were saying, let's go bills. Now, if
- 10:24Speaker 1: you're going to think of an excuse, that's why would
- 10:27Speaker 1: this was in Forest Hill stadiums. Why would people in
- 10:29Speaker 1: New York City not say let's go giants jets. Nobody
- 10:31Speaker 1: in New York City cares about the bills. So just
- 10:34Speaker 1: looked awful for her. Now, what if Mom Donnie win?
- 10:37Speaker 1: Is there any way to stop him? If he wins? Yes,
- 10:40Speaker 1: if they found out he took foreign money, knowingly took
- 10:44Speaker 1: foreign money into his campaign, they can remove him from
- 10:47Speaker 1: being mayor, that would be the end of it. Now,
- 10:50Speaker 1: there are several groups that have been working on this,
- 10:53Speaker 1: this one called the Coolidge Reagan Foundation. They have now
- 10:57Speaker 1: filed two criminal referrals with the Justice Department. They've uncovered
- 11:03Speaker 1: thirteen thousand and foreign money from one hundred and seventy
- 11:06Speaker 1: donors that went to Mom Donnie. Now it's not quite
- 11:09Speaker 1: that simple. You got to prove that he knew about it,
- 11:12Speaker 1: but it's enough to file a criminal referral, have a
- 11:15Speaker 1: criminal investigation there's another one hundred and seventy incidents that's
- 11:19Speaker 1: not isolated. That's a lot of incidents. The Mam Donnie
- 11:22Speaker 1: campaigns at thirty one of the one hundred and seventy
- 11:25Speaker 1: one donors proved their citizenship. Well, he's still got one
- 11:29Speaker 1: hundred and forty left that didn't. The criminal referral is
- 11:33Speaker 1: with the Assistant Attorney General right now, so he'll be
- 11:37Speaker 1: looking at that. Fox News Digital did an investigation. They
- 11:39Speaker 1: uncovered thirteen thousand from donors with foreign addresses, including one
- 11:45Speaker 1: five hundred dollars donation from his mother in law in Dubai,
- 11:49Speaker 1: not an American citizen. Mam Donnie says he returned the contribution,
- 11:54Speaker 1: but as of October fourteenth, filing still show ninety one
- 11:58Speaker 1: foreign donations had been funded. But that leaves that leaves
- 12:02Speaker 1: about sixty of them still out there, So it's possible
- 12:05Speaker 1: they could take him out with that. Also, any victory
- 12:10Speaker 1: of Mandami's would he'd be a terrible mayor. It would
- 12:14Speaker 1: just kill the Democrats right now. Democratic brand is in
- 12:19Speaker 1: real trouble. If you went back to ten years ago
- 12:22Speaker 1: and took a real poll, not a serious poll, fifty
- 12:27Speaker 1: percent of voters viewed the Democratic Party is out of touch.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Half okay, that makes sense, but it's now up to
- 12:33Speaker 1: seventy percent. The majority of the country thinks the Democratic
- 12:36Speaker 1: Party is totally completely out of touch. So we'll see
- 12:41Speaker 1: what happens as the early voting continues. Now, if we
- 12:47Speaker 1: get about a million votes, a million one, a million two,
- 12:50Speaker 1: which is low twenty thirty percent turnout, it looks like
- 12:54Speaker 1: it could head to two million. You could get sixty percent,
- 12:57Speaker 1: seventy percent turnout. If the voting gets to two million,
- 13:01Speaker 1: that probably could give you a Cuomo victory. Probably it
- 13:06Speaker 1: has to get to about two million, but it looks
- 13:08Speaker 1: like it could be headed there. So there's all these endorsements. Now,
- 13:11Speaker 1: Michael Goodwin says he hates Cuomo as much as it,
- 13:14Speaker 1: but he's going to vote for him. Here you got
- 13:17Speaker 1: a woman who this kind of went viral online. She says,
- 13:22Speaker 1: Cuomo murdered my husband. I think she's referring to the
- 13:26Speaker 1: nursing homes. Cuomo murdered my husband, But I'm still going
- 13:31Speaker 1: to vote for him. So you're getting a lot of that.
- 13:32Speaker 1: So there is a shift going on right now. Now
- 13:36Speaker 1: in New Jersey, it's very very very tight. Nobody can
- 13:39Speaker 1: tell what's going to happen. Now, these endorsements don't mean
- 13:42Speaker 1: much of anything. You know, when Cuomo announces, oh, the
- 13:45Speaker 1: Electricians Union endorsed me. They're nice people, but I don't
- 13:49Speaker 1: think anybody when they want to know who to vote for,
- 13:52Speaker 1: asks they're Electrician. It doesn't mean anything. Even the big
- 13:56Speaker 1: name the newspaper endorsements generally mean nothing. Rally's trying to
- 14:00Speaker 1: get endorsements. He's got a Trump. Trump's not going to
- 14:03Speaker 1: come to New Jersey, but it's gonna be some sort
- 14:05Speaker 1: of video endorsement. Mikey Cheryl brought in Obama to give
- 14:10Speaker 1: an indorsement. Here's the latest Chiitarelli endorsement. Kelsey Grammar, Hi,
- 14:14Speaker 1: Kelsey Grammar. Here, you already know that I'm from New Jersey. No,
- 14:18Speaker 1: wait to stop it. Did you know he's from New Jersey?
- 14:21Speaker 1: I never know he's from New Jersey. Is there anything
- 14:24Speaker 1: about him that suggests he's from New Jersey?
- 14:26Speaker 3: No, why I'm talking to you right now. There's a
- 14:29Speaker 3: lot of famous folks who grew up in Jersey. But
- 14:32Speaker 3: some of them seem content to let you guys go
- 14:33Speaker 3: on living on a prayer. Others have just forgotten that
- 14:37Speaker 3: you were born in the USA too. But once Jack wins,
- 14:41Speaker 3: and I think he's got a good chance of winning,
- 14:43Speaker 3: it's gonna make it a lot easier to just shake
- 14:46Speaker 3: it off.
- 14:49Speaker 1: I don't know. That's not a very good not a
- 14:52Speaker 1: good commercial. I don't know. I don't know. It's like
- 14:55Speaker 1: just picture him and Niles in the in the little cafe,
- 14:58Speaker 1: they're talking. No, no, not a powerful endorsement. Anyway, We'll
- 15:02Speaker 1: see what happens. We'll get back to the mayor all race.
- 15:04Speaker 1: We'll get back to that. The President is continuing the trip.
- 15:09Speaker 1: You'll read that he's going to meet with President She
- 15:11Speaker 1: Thursday morning, but with the massive time difference, Thursday morning
- 15:15Speaker 1: is late tonight, so it'll be late tonight that he
- 15:18Speaker 1: meets with She. So far, it's been a very very
- 15:20Speaker 1: successful trip. Lots of agreements, lots of deals have been signed,
- 15:24Speaker 1: great for the United States. So they call deliverables. He's
- 15:27Speaker 1: gotten a lot of different deliverables on this trip. We'll
- 15:30Speaker 1: get to the shutdown coming up. Chuck Schumer says, this
- 15:33Speaker 1: is outrageous. It's outrageous, this is horrifying. Forty two million
- 15:39Speaker 1: people on foodstamps might not get their benefits, but most
- 15:43Speaker 1: people on to hear this go Wait a minute, forty
- 15:45Speaker 1: two million people are on food stamps. Why weren't you
- 15:48Speaker 1: outraged about that? You should have been screaming for years
- 15:52Speaker 1: that forty two million people are on food stamps. That's
- 15:54Speaker 1: not right. Somebody that did just the sign of his
- 15:57Speaker 1: failed leadership. Anyway, we'll get back to all of this up.
- 16:00Speaker 1: We'll take some calls. Next. Eight hundred three two one
- 16:04Speaker 1: zero seven ten is the number. Eight hundred three two
- 16:07Speaker 1: one zero seven ten
