- 0:25truth, and spiritual insight. In this episode,
- 0:30Pastor David leads us into Week 9, Leadership
- 0:33and Integrity, Titus 1, verse 7. A powerful call
- 0:38to character, accountability, and the kind of
- 0:41leadership that strengthens homes, churches,
- 0:44and nations. This is Voices of Life, and Week
- 0:499 begins now. Welcome to Voices of Life, a ministry
- 0:54of the Church for Life. I'm Pastor David. Today
- 0:58we begin with the truth that we cannot ignore.
- 1:03Leadership determines the direction of nations.
- 1:07Not charisma, not popularity, and not position.
- 1:12Leadership. And leadership without integrity
- 1:16begins to become dangerous. Titus 1 verse 7 is,
- 1:23not merely a pastoral qualification. It is a
- 1:26national necessity. It is a God's blueprint for
- 1:30anyone entrusted with influence. A leader is
- 1:34not an owner. A leader is not a ruler. A leader
- 1:38is not a controller. A leader is a steward, a
- 1:43caretaker of God's people, God's resources, and
- 1:48God's influence. Stewardship means I am responsible
- 1:52for what God has entrusted to me. It means leadership
- 1:56is not about power. It is about responsibility.
- 2:00The scripture says a leader must be blameless.
- 2:05Blameless does not mean perfect. It means trustworthy.
- 2:11Blameless leaders are consistent in character,
- 2:15accountable in conduct, transparent in decisions.
- 2:20and faithful in stewardship. Blameless is about
- 2:24credibility. It is about living in such a way
- 2:28that accusations cannot stick. Blameless conduct,
- 2:34accountability, and leadership. But that does
- 2:38not mean the leader is perfect. It does not mean
- 2:43the leader has not made mistakes along the way.
- 2:47It is where... The leader's heart, mind, focus,
- 2:54and integrity is today. That is what counts the
- 2:59most. Titus 1 verse 7 gives us five anchors,
- 3:02five qualities that stabilize a leader's character.
- 3:07The first anchor is not self -willed. Leadership
- 3:12without ego. A self -willed leader is dangerous.
- 3:17because he leads for himself, not for God. Anchor
- 3:22two, not quick -tempered. Leadership without
- 3:27emotional stability. A leader must be calm under
- 3:31pressure, steady in conflict, and disciplined
- 3:35in response. Anchor three, not given to wine.
- 3:43Leadership without impairment. This is about
- 3:46sobriety of mind, clear thinking, wise judgment,
- 3:50and disciplined habits. Anchor four. Not violent.
- 3:58Leadership without intimidation. A leader cannot
- 4:02use fear, force, or manipulation to control people.
- 4:07And finally, anchor five. Not greedy. for dishonest
- 4:13gain. Leadership without corruption. Greed destroys
- 4:17credibility. It destroys trust. And it destroys
- 4:21nations. So why is integrity non -negotiable?
- 4:27Well, integrity is not optional. Integrity is
- 4:30essential. Without integrity, influence collapses,
- 4:34trust evaporates, authority becomes toxic, and
- 4:38leadership becomes destructive. Integrity is
- 4:43the oxygen of leadership. Without it, everything
- 4:47suffocates. Leadership is a public testimony.
- 4:53Leadership is lived out loud. Leadership means
- 4:58people may not know your theology, but they do
- 5:03know your character. They may not understand
- 5:07your doctrine, but they understand your decisions.
- 5:11They may not hear your sermons, but they hear
- 5:15your tone, your attitude, your reactions, and
- 5:18your example. A leader's life becomes a message
- 5:21long before their words do. We've kind of laid
- 5:25out the foundation. It establishes the standard.
- 5:28It defines the calling that leadership is not
- 5:32about position. It's about character. Integrity
- 5:35is not about perfection. It's about consistency.
- 5:39So as we move to our next segment, we're going
- 5:41to expose the dangers that threaten leadership
- 5:44integrity. The dangers that destroy leadership
- 5:47integrity. Self -will is a leadership driven
- 5:53by ego. It is the belief that my desires, my
- 5:58opinions, my impulses are more important than
- 6:02God's direction or the good of the people. A
- 6:06self -willed leader cannot be corrected, they
- 6:10cannot be counseled, they cannot be guided, and
- 6:12cannot be trusted. Self -will is the birthplace
- 6:16of corruption. It is the soil where pride grows,
- 6:20and pride is the poison of leadership. Self -willed
- 6:25leadership endangers the people. Now let's turn
- 6:30to temperament. A quick -tempered leader is unpredictable.
- 6:39They make decisions in anger. They react instead
- 6:43of discern. They explode instead of evaluate.
- 6:47Anger becomes a steering wheel. Emotion becomes
- 6:50a weapon. People walk on eggshells instead of
- 6:54walking in purpose. Because a leader must be
- 6:57able to pause, to breathe, to discern, and respond
- 7:03with wisdom. A quick -tempered leader destroys
- 7:08trust. A calm leader builds it. That is anger
- 7:16in leadership. So moving on, not given to wine,
- 7:21the danger of impaired leadership, the third
- 7:24danger. This is not just about alcohol. It is
- 7:29about anything that impairs judgment. substances,
- 7:33impulses, habits, compulsions, addictions. A
- 7:37leader must be clear -minded, sober -minded,
- 7:41and spirit -led. Impaired leadership is dangerous
- 7:44leadership. When judgment is clouded, decisions
- 7:47become reckless. When discipline is absent, influence
- 7:50becomes unstable. A leader must be able to think
- 7:54clearly, see clearly, and choose wisely. That
- 7:58is sober -minded leadership. Now, what about
- 8:02not violent leadership without intimidation?
- 8:07So the fourth danger is not violent. Violence
- 8:10is not only physical. Violence can be verbal,
- 8:14emotional, psychological, relational. And perhaps
- 8:19those are more detrimental to a person. than
- 8:23physical violence. A violent leader uses fear
- 8:26to control, uses intimidation to manipulate,
- 8:29uses pressure to dominate. But leadership is
- 8:33not domination. Leadership is influence. Authority
- 8:37is not force. Authority is stewardship. A leader
- 8:41must be firm, but never abusive. Strong, but
- 8:45never oppressive. Bold, but never destructive.
- 8:49Now, servant leadership, that's what the key
- 8:52is. When you're acting and everything you do
- 8:56is about the other person. It's not about you.
- 8:59It's not something you seek. It's about taking
- 9:03steps to help others. Then there's not being
- 9:08greedy for dishonest gain. The corruption trap.
- 9:14The fifth danger. Greed is the silent assassin
- 9:18of leadership. It destroys credibility. It destroys
- 9:22trust. It destroys nations. Greed shows up as
- 9:26financial compromise, moral compromise, hidden
- 9:29agendas, secret deals, personal benefit at public
- 9:34expense. A greedy leader cannot be trusted with
- 9:37influence. Greedy leader cannot be trusted with
- 9:39people. And a greedy leader cannot be trusted
- 9:41with purpose. Integrity is expensive. But corruption
- 9:47is deadly. And that is greed in leadership. And
- 9:53all of this put together leads to a domino effect
- 9:55of a compromised leader. So when these dangers
- 9:59enter leadership, they create the domino effect.
- 10:03Self -will leads to pride. Pride leads to anger.
- 10:07Anger leads to recklessness. Recklessness leads
- 10:10to impairment. Impairment leads to intimidation.
- 10:13Intimidation leads to corruption. And corruption
- 10:15leads to collapse. This is how families fall.
- 10:18This is how churches fall. This is how businesses
- 10:21fall. This is how nations fall. Leadership integrity
- 10:26is not optional. It is essential. We've talked
- 10:30about the dangers. Now we need to talk about
- 10:36how to build and make better leaders than people
- 10:41are to start with. So what is the inner life
- 10:45of a leader? Well, here's how this works. Before
- 10:55a leader ever guides people, he or she must govern
- 10:59themselves. Before they ever carry out responsibility,
- 11:04they must carry discipline. Before they ever
- 11:07stand before others, They must stand before God.
- 11:15The inner life of a leader is the engine of integrity.
- 11:19It is the engine. If the engine is weak, the
- 11:23leadership is weak. If the engine is broken,
- 11:25the leadership is broken. Inner life of leadership.
- 11:29That's what this is about. And that leads us
- 11:33to emotional stability because that is the leader's
- 11:37first battlefield. A leader must be able to regulate
- 11:43emotion, manage pressure, remain calm under fire,
- 11:47and respond instead of react. Response instead
- 11:52of reacting means that you have to take the time
- 11:56to think things through and not just be impulsive.
- 12:02Emotional stability leads to... Impulsive decisions,
- 12:07fractured relationships, inconsistent leadership,
- 12:11and damaged credibility. But emotional stability
- 12:15produces clarity, wisdom, patience, and trust.
- 12:21A leader's emotional life is not private matter.
- 12:26It affects everyone he leads. So that's what
- 12:30emotional steadiness is for leaders. Now there
- 12:34has to also be spiritual maturity because that
- 12:38is the leader's compass. Leadership without spiritual
- 12:43maturity becomes ambition. Leadership with spiritual
- 12:48maturity becomes a calling. A spiritually mature
- 12:53leader listens before they speak, pray before
- 12:57they act, discerns before deciding, and obeys.
- 13:02before explaining. Spiritual maturity is the
- 13:05compass that keeps a leader aligned with God's
- 13:09will. Without it, leadership becomes self -driven.
- 13:12With it, leadership becomes God -driven. That's
- 13:16spiritual maturity. There has to be a relational
- 13:20wisdom. That is the architecture of influence.
- 13:25Leadership is relational. It's a leader that
- 13:28knows how to navigate people with humility patience
- 13:32clarity compassion and discernment relational
- 13:37wisdom is the difference between influence and
- 13:41isolation a relationally wise leader listens
- 13:46deeper communicates clearly corrects gently confronts
- 13:51firmly and restores graciously people follow
- 13:56leaders they trust and trust is built through
- 14:00relational wisdom. Then there is the discipline
- 14:04of self -governance. A leader must govern himself
- 14:08or herself before they govern others. Self -governance
- 14:13includes managing impulses, controlling appetites,
- 14:17disciplining habits, and mastering reactions.
- 14:23A leader who cannot govern themselves cannot
- 14:26govern anything else. Self -governance is the
- 14:30backbone of integrity, and integrity is self
- 14:34-control and leadership. Throughout all these
- 14:38terms, all these conditions, all these ways that
- 14:43a leader has to express themselves, it becomes
- 14:49the power of consistency. Consistency is one
- 14:53of the most underrated leadership virtues. Consistency
- 14:56builds trust, credibility, and stability, but
- 14:59most of all, confidence. Because you handle things
- 15:03consistently in the same way. You don't stray.
- 15:07That doesn't mean that every situation requires
- 15:10the same answer. It means that each one is governed
- 15:15in the same way, thought out in the same way,
- 15:18and expressed in the same way. Inconsistent leaders
- 15:23create confusion. Consistent leaders create clarity.
- 15:27Consistency is not perfection. It is reliability.
- 15:30Something that you look forward to. Something
- 15:34that people look forward to. And that's how you
- 15:35build your trust. And finally, let's talk about,
- 15:40for this part, the leader's private world. The
- 15:45leader's private world determines their public
- 15:48world. Private world discipline includes prayer,
- 15:53study, reflection, accountability, rest, and
- 15:58renewal. When the private world is neglected,
- 16:03the public world collapses. When the private
- 16:06world is strengthened, the public world flourishes.
- 16:10Those are leadership habits. of inner strength.
- 16:23Inner strength is costly. It requires sacrifice.
- 16:27It requires discipline. It requires humility.
- 16:29And it requires honesty. But the cost of inner
- 16:32weakness is far greater. Weak inner life leads
- 16:36to moral failure, emotional collapse, relational
- 16:40damage, and leadership ruin. Strong inner life
- 16:44leads to longevity, stability, credibility, and
- 16:49spiritual authority. Now in our last segment,
- 16:56we have a few things to talk about. One is going
- 16:59to be the integrity as a national standard. Leadership
- 17:04determines the direction of families, the culture
- 17:07of a church, the stability of a community, the
- 17:10ethics of businesses. The credibility of government
- 17:14and the future of nations. America's next chapter
- 17:18will not be shaped by technology or economics
- 17:21or even politics alone. It will be shaped by
- 17:24leaders of integrity. Leadership and national
- 17:29destiny. They go hand in hand. Integrity in every
- 17:34sphere of American life. Integrity must rise
- 17:38in every sphere. of a person's life because it
- 17:43has to be relational. Parents are the first leaders
- 17:48children ever see. Integrity in the home creates
- 17:51stability in the heart. That's why the family
- 17:53unit is so important. That's why they say sometimes
- 17:56it takes a village to raise a family because
- 17:58they are all on the same page. Integrity in churches,
- 18:02pastors, elders, ministry leaders must embody
- 18:06Titus 1 verse 7. The church cannot preach. What
- 18:10it refuses to practice. And the community, the
- 18:14integrity in the community, the leaders of the
- 18:16community must model humility, fairness, and
- 18:20accountability. Integrity in business. Ethical
- 18:23leadership builds trust, loyalty, and long -term
- 18:26success. Integrity in government. Public office.
- 18:30It's sacred. It is public stewardship. Corruption
- 18:33in government becomes corruption in culture.
- 18:37And integrity in media. That's something we really,
- 18:41really lack in this country these days. Truth
- 18:45must outweigh sensationalism. It doesn't matter
- 18:48if you want to be first to the story or you want
- 18:50to make it seem like it's something that it's
- 18:53really not. Tell the truth. Tell them what it
- 18:57is. Let people make their own minds. We're all
- 18:59smart here. We can calculate what the thing means
- 19:02to us. You don't have to... Put it in a particular
- 19:07light so that it doesn't give us the opportunity
- 19:09to explore what else it could mean. Because accuracy
- 19:13must outweigh agenda. Integrity is contagious,
- 19:18but so is corruption. One strengthens a nation,
- 19:21the other weakens it. The prophetic call of Titus
- 19:261 verse 7. It's not just a pastoral qualification,
- 19:32as I said earlier. It's a prophetic warning and
- 19:35a national invitation. God is calling leaders
- 19:38to return to humility, accountability, emotional
- 19:42stability, moral clarity, spiritual maturity,
- 19:46and financial integrity. You could have made
- 19:49some mistakes in the past. Well, do your best,
- 19:53fix them, repair them, and don't make those mistakes
- 19:56again. And if you've learned that, you've gotten
- 20:01to where you are today and your integrity can
- 20:05be restored. This is how nations are healed.
- 20:08This is how communities are strengthened. This
- 20:10is how America moves forward. Because the cost
- 20:13of national integrity, and it does have a cost,
- 20:17it does require sacrifice. It requires discipline
- 20:20and transparency and courage. But the cost of
- 20:26corruption is greater. Corruption destroys trust,
- 20:29unity, stability, and national confidence. Integrity
- 20:34restores hope, strength, credibility, and national
- 20:38purpose. America cannot afford cheap leadership.
- 20:42America needs costly integrity. Toward future
- 20:50generations. That's where you're the model. You
- 20:53set the example. Leadership is generational.
- 20:56What leaders tolerate, the next generation embraces.
- 21:01What leaders compromise, the next generation
- 21:03normalizes. What leaders model, the next generation
- 21:08multiplies. If leaders model integrity, children
- 21:13inherit integrity. If leaders model corruption,
- 21:15children inherit confusion. Leadership is not
- 21:18just about today, it's about tomorrow. That's
- 21:22generational leadership. America after 250 is
- 21:27a nation at a crossroads. We've just had our
- 21:32250th birthday and we've seen moral decline,
- 21:36institutional collapse, cultural instability,
- 21:39and national fragmentation. The other path...
- 21:44can lead us to renewal, restoration, unity, and
- 21:47strength. The difference between the two paths
- 21:49is leadership integrity. America does not need
- 21:53perfect leaders. It needs blameless leaders.
- 21:56Leaders who are trustworthy, accountable, and
- 21:59consistent. Leaders who embody Titus 1 verse
- 22:037. That's what's important here. And that's how
- 22:07our country moves forward. Let us pray. Father,
- 22:13in the name of Jesus, raise leaders of integrity
- 22:16across this nation, leaders who walk humbly,
- 22:20serve faithfully, and lead courageously. Purify
- 22:24our motives, strengthen our character, guide
- 22:27our steps, and let Titus 1 verse 7 become the
- 22:31standard of leadership in our homes, our churches,
- 22:34our communities, and our nation. We ask this
- 22:37in Jesus' name. Amen. Week 9 reminds us that
- 22:43leadership is not about position, it is about
- 22:45character. Integrity is not optional, it is essential.
- 22:50And America's next chapter will be written by
- 22:53leaders who embody the standard of Titus 1 verse
- 22:567. And I hope you do. You have been listening
- 23:01to Voices of Life, a ministry of the Church for
- 23:04Life. And I'm your host, Pastor David. We look
- 23:07forward to seeing you next week for Week 10,
- 23:09The Future of Work and Purpose, in Colossians
- 23:123, verse 23. Until then, be safe, and God bless
- 23:17America. You've been listening to the Voices
- 23:21of Life podcast with your host, Pastor David.
- 23:28Today's message from Titus 1, verse 7, reminds
- 23:32us that leadership is not a position. It is a
- 23:36responsibility. Integrity is not optional. It
- 23:40is essential. And the future of any nation is
- 23:44shaped by the character of those who lead it.
- 23:48Thank you for joining us for Week 9 of America
- 23:51After 250. We invite you to return for the next
- 23:55episode as Pastor David continues this journey
- 23:58through history, scripture, and the calling of
- 24:02a nation. This is Voices of Life. Until next
- 24:08time, walk in truth, lead with integrity, and
- 24:14live with purpose.
