- 0:08Speaker 1: Welcome to the favorites of the podcast from the Volume
- 0:12Speaker 1: Podcast Network. I am Chad Noman. We are literally counting
- 0:17Speaker 1: down the days until the start of the NFL season
- 0:20Speaker 1: at the Action Network. The number today is thirty seven.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Thirty seven days until the NFL season starts, until gambling
- 0:30Speaker 1: comes back in full force for the majority of the country,
- 0:34Speaker 1: until more people than ever get to take advantage of
- 0:38Speaker 1: legalized sports betting during the NFL season. That's why I
- 0:44Speaker 1: have Simon Hooder, who's a professional better joining me. He
- 0:47Speaker 1: is my co host, he is my bff, he is
- 0:50Speaker 1: my companion. We got a massive, massive slate of subjects today,
- 0:56Speaker 1: Simon and Samantha Prividi, who was one of our c
- 1:00Speaker 1: your analysts covering all things fantasy, all things NFL. She's
- 1:06Speaker 1: got a lot of notes that she wanted to talk
- 1:07Speaker 1: about today. Well, he's going to read them back to
- 1:10Speaker 1: her and she what she has to say before we
- 1:11Speaker 1: get to that. Simon, how are you good? Chad? I'm
- 1:16Speaker 1: so glad she's here. Be even Actually now I'm thinking
- 1:18Speaker 1: I probably shouldn't because she's probably in side with you. Chat.
- 1:21Speaker 1: We we had to talk about something. You have a problem.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I have a problem. Yeah, you and you realize that
- 1:27Speaker 1: I have no idea what's coming right now. We talked
- 1:30Speaker 1: for I think I've talked to you four times in
- 1:32Speaker 1: the last two weeks. Somehow TikTok has come up in
- 1:36Speaker 1: the conversation all four times. Yeah, this is a big
- 1:39Speaker 1: worrior for me. Okay is someone that saw the death
- 1:42Speaker 1: of Facebook by older people. I see it coming. I
- 1:46Speaker 1: see you talking about TikTok. I saw someone's grandmam talking
- 1:49Speaker 1: about TikTok, and I'm just thinking myself, is this the end?
- 1:52Speaker 1: Is this? Because I just only got on there, and
- 1:55Speaker 1: I do feel creepy because I'll be watching a cookie
- 1:57Speaker 1: vie in the next video will be something like fifteen
- 1:59Speaker 1: year old girl Dan seeing and I'd be like, oh God,
- 2:01Speaker 1: and I have to keeps growing. So it is a
- 2:03Speaker 1: weird place as someone that's in their thirties to be.
- 2:06Speaker 1: But it's appealing. It's just videos of music and like words.
- 2:09Speaker 1: It's it's an easy website. But you're obsessed. I'm like,
- 2:12Speaker 1: we're in a meeting all hands and you said you
- 2:14Speaker 1: were looking at TikTok the whole time, and I believed you.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I thought to myself, I believe chat is probably watching
- 2:19Speaker 1: TikTok right now. So I just have to know, Chad,
- 2:22Speaker 1: how deep into TikTok are you? Oh? I'm deep brother?
- 2:27Speaker 1: I Uh? You know Samantha PAVIDI I she one of
- 2:32Speaker 1: the reasons we we learned who she was and discovered
- 2:36Speaker 1: her was because she was so good at doing fantasy
- 2:39Speaker 1: on TikTok and and I'd love to bring her in
- 2:42Speaker 1: to have this conversation as soon as I answer. Um,
- 2:46Speaker 1: I would say I started doing it mainly because I
- 2:50Speaker 1: kept hearing about it as sort of a media professional.
- 2:54Speaker 1: And then I got nervous that the Chinese were stealing
- 2:57Speaker 1: my information because that's what everyone kept saying, like it's
- 3:00Speaker 1: a Chinese app and like they're using the data, and
- 3:03Speaker 1: I'm like what, And so then I just sort of
- 3:05Speaker 1: like I wasn't using it for a while, and then
- 3:08Speaker 1: I got back into it and I freaking love it. Um.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I think it's funny. I think it's informative. I think
- 3:20Speaker 1: that what some media outlets are doing there uh is amazing,
- 3:25Speaker 1: and the way people are using it to communicate your
- 3:29Speaker 1: stories advanced information translate things is really really smart. I'm
- 3:34Speaker 1: thinking a lot about what I want action networks. TikTok
- 3:37Speaker 1: strategy to be and I think I've narrowed down what
- 3:40Speaker 1: what we could really do well with on TikTok. And
- 3:44Speaker 1: it's also it's entirely different than the other social mediums.
- 3:47Speaker 1: And I think a lot of other places might think, oh,
- 3:50Speaker 1: I can just repurpose this and put it on TikTok,
- 3:52Speaker 1: or repurpose of that and put it on TikTok, and
- 3:55Speaker 1: you can't. You really got to think about creatively, how
- 3:57Speaker 1: is it different than all the other social platforms. I
- 4:00Speaker 1: don't think it's like Facebook, simon, and that Facebook became
- 4:05Speaker 1: toxic and silly and annoying, and I think it's harder
- 4:10Speaker 1: for TikTok to do that because it's a little bit
- 4:15Speaker 1: like Instagram in that it's a better combination of what's personal,
- 4:20Speaker 1: how to entertain, how to inform, without layering in like
- 4:26Speaker 1: layers and layers and layers of what your personal feelings
- 4:32Speaker 1: are that you can write down in many, many paragraphs
- 4:36Speaker 1: that become cringe worthy. Um, yes, so right right there,
- 4:42Speaker 1: Chat everything you just said, it's not true. People are
- 4:45Speaker 1: just mean. It's the Internet, so no, no, no, But
- 4:48Speaker 1: here's the no, Simon, here's the difference. Of course, people
- 4:52Speaker 1: can write comments and of course they're going to be mean.
- 4:55Speaker 1: But it's not the creator of the content, like giving
- 5:00Speaker 1: me a diet tribe about Trump or about Obama, or
- 5:05Speaker 1: about Biden, or about vaccinations or about their liberties. Um,
- 5:12Speaker 1: it's someone. If someone has an opinion on it, they're
- 5:15Speaker 1: doing it in a way that is cheeky and superficial
- 5:18Speaker 1: and is easy to swipe right through. Um. So I
- 5:24Speaker 1: find it to be a great medium. Also, I find
- 5:26Speaker 1: it to be an incredibly fun just total empty, vapid
- 5:31Speaker 1: time sock. Uh, beyond all these sort of high minded
- 5:36Speaker 1: strategic opportunities. Samantha way in here, please, Yeah, I totally
- 5:42Speaker 1: agree with you that one. It is an absolute time sock.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I think my screen time notification every week. I just like,
- 5:49Speaker 1: I don't even want to look at it because I
- 5:51Speaker 1: know it's like eight hours a day on TikTok or
- 5:53Speaker 1: something like that. But it is easy to consume a
- 5:57Speaker 1: ton of content all at once. I think what you
- 6:01Speaker 1: said in terms of like the way the platform is
- 6:04Speaker 1: built so differently from Facebook, where Facebook you see a
- 6:08Speaker 1: lot of the same posts from like the same people,
- 6:11Speaker 1: whereas like on TikTok and Instagram, you're seeing a lot
- 6:14Speaker 1: of different content all at once, and then the algorithm
- 6:17Speaker 1: really does learn your your preferences and stuff, and it
- 6:20Speaker 1: doesn't over personalize, I think, which I think is a
- 6:23Speaker 1: really nice balance for them to strike. Uh So, No,
- 6:26Speaker 1: I don't think it has become like choogy quote unquote,
- 6:29Speaker 1: but I do think, um, it has changed a little bit.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Like it was peak pandemic when everyone was at home
- 6:36Speaker 1: doing these like high production TikTok's because no one had
- 6:40Speaker 1: anything better to do, like see me. That's why I
- 6:44Speaker 1: literally made my TikTok account was because I was bored.
- 6:48Speaker 1: So I think it's shifted a little bit. But now
- 6:50Speaker 1: it's everyone's out in the world and traveling and showing
- 6:54Speaker 1: really cool things. So I think like the content has
- 6:57Speaker 1: shifted a little, but I don't think it has, you know,
- 7:00Speaker 1: past its prime or anything like that. You don't think
- 7:02Speaker 1: Chad's gonna kill it, because I do. I like, I
- 7:05Speaker 1: like Facebook this never forget my buddy's mom added me, Um,
- 7:10Speaker 1: I want to say it was, and I just remember
- 7:14Speaker 1: thinking of my stuff. Oh my god, this is how
- 7:16Speaker 1: it's gonna end, because it's just weird when it's like
- 7:19Speaker 1: you're blacked out with your friends and then your buddy's
- 7:21Speaker 1: mom likes your picture. It's just a it starts becoming
- 7:23Speaker 1: very strange, So you don't have the fear that Chad's
- 7:26Speaker 1: gonna kill another app. Let me ask him, Simon, do
- 7:29Speaker 1: you feel like a company that is trading at three
- 7:36Speaker 1: hundred and fifty one a share, that has a market
- 7:39Speaker 1: cap of nine hundred and ninety billion dollars and is
- 7:44Speaker 1: used by literally someone in every corner of the globe
- 7:49Speaker 1: is dead. I don't think so. I just think the
- 7:52Speaker 1: demographics of that particular product have changed, and there are
- 7:58Speaker 1: still plenty of people who use it for variety of
- 8:00Speaker 1: utilitarian reasons. And you happen to be someone who doesn't
- 8:04Speaker 1: want to use it for personal reasons because you don't
- 8:07Speaker 1: want to share stuff on there. You think it's going away.
- 8:09Speaker 1: It's not what it used to be, but it's evolved
- 8:10Speaker 1: into something that's entirely useful for other people who are
- 8:14Speaker 1: maybe older, but still represent a huge swath of uh
- 8:18Speaker 1: the world's population. I don't use Facebook. I think it's crap.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I haven't been on there in years, and I never
- 8:24Speaker 1: want to use it to begin with. And I'm not
- 8:26Speaker 1: even like a user of TikTok. I'm barely using Twitter
- 8:30Speaker 1: these days, but I do think TikTok is a fascinating
- 8:33Speaker 1: way to share information and it's not going anywhere. Even
- 8:38Speaker 1: I can't kill TikTok. I just love hearing dudes in TikTok.
- 8:41Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, I saw that on TikTok. I'm just like,
- 8:43Speaker 1: oh my god, what is happening. I think there's a
- 8:45Speaker 1: lot of old people on TikTok. I think you'd be
- 8:47Speaker 1: surprised at Like that's my whole point. It's creepy. That's
- 8:50Speaker 1: what I'm trying to get across that. But like I'm
- 8:53Speaker 1: not getting I'm not getting fifteen year old, fifteen year
- 8:55Speaker 1: old in my feed. I'm getting comedy, I'm getting news,
- 9:00Speaker 1: I'm getting sports. Uh, like I get like the dancing,
- 9:06Speaker 1: like on the rare occasion. Uh, that's one of my
- 9:10Speaker 1: favorite parts. That's how I hear new music. So like,
- 9:12Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to I have to come across this
- 9:14Speaker 1: fifth yearrol there's nothing I can do about it. Thinking myself,
- 9:18Speaker 1: I feel weird in my thirties. I can't imagine, like
- 9:19Speaker 1: an old dude, you hit one of these fifth year
- 9:21Speaker 1: just like, oh god, this is so weird. It's just
- 9:23Speaker 1: a weird act. Uh, it's well, it's it's it's weird
- 9:28Speaker 1: until you get used to it, and and then and
- 9:32Speaker 1: then you realize you finished doing something at and you're
- 9:36Speaker 1: recording the podcast at one thirty, and you're like, I
- 9:38Speaker 1: got two minutes. Let me see if there's anything fun
- 9:40Speaker 1: on TikTok, which, by the way, is exactly what happened.
- 9:44Speaker 1: You're ready to do it. Let's roll, brother. Uh, we
- 9:48Speaker 1: do have a lot of nf all to talk about.
- 9:50Speaker 1: We will end. We will end with the Hall of
- 9:53Speaker 1: Fame game because somehow that is happening this week. And
- 9:58Speaker 1: before we get to the Hall of Fame game, Uh,
- 10:01Speaker 1: we gotta start right now. We gotta start with Carson Wentz.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Simon and Samantha will come to you after this. But
- 10:09Speaker 1: anyone who's been listening to this pot oh wait, I'm sorry.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Before we do that, I do want to make a
- 10:14Speaker 1: comment because um uh a tweeter named John Doe j
- 10:21Speaker 1: o h n uh d o h sent me a
- 10:25Speaker 1: comment that I thought was really smart and we should
- 10:28Speaker 1: do this, and Matt mitchell I sort of I've made
- 10:32Speaker 1: a note about this in our slack chain this morning.
- 10:34Speaker 1: But we should do this because it's really smart. Uh.
- 10:37Speaker 1: We we've been bouncing around like we've done season win totals,
- 10:40Speaker 1: overs for the over unders for the a f C,
- 10:42Speaker 1: for the NFC, and we the way you broke it
- 10:45Speaker 1: down was kind of disorganized. We actually haven't done any
- 10:48Speaker 1: kind of since the season ended. To now full round up,
- 10:53Speaker 1: full recapture of how we think teams have improved. UM,
- 10:57Speaker 1: A team by team breakdown from last season, and now
- 11:00Speaker 1: John Doe says we should do that. I kind of agree,
- 11:02Speaker 1: and I think we should do that division by division.
- 11:05Speaker 1: So we will start doing that, I believe on Thursday.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Is that right, Matt Mitchell, that's the plan? All right,
- 11:10Speaker 1: John Doe, good suggestion. You are not being ignored. Uh,
- 11:14Speaker 1: we will start doing team by teams since the end
- 11:16Speaker 1: of the season to now breakdowns. UM on Thursday. We're
- 11:21Speaker 1: getting deep into the NFL. Uh. Carson Wentz, Simon, you
- 11:24Speaker 1: and I have been talking about the Colts season win
- 11:27Speaker 1: total of over ten ten and a half since Carson
- 11:30Speaker 1: Wentz signed. Boy, oh boy, that's the money we're gonna
- 11:34Speaker 1: start burning. Huh. Yeah, already let it on fire, chat, Uh,
- 11:37Speaker 1: it's dead. That's basically one of those where there's few
- 11:42Speaker 1: quarterbacks in this league that needed a preseason more with
- 11:45Speaker 1: their team and just to get right and get their
- 11:47Speaker 1: head right than Carson Wentz. So like on my list,
- 11:50Speaker 1: it's him and Joe Burrow, Like Joe bros Coming off
- 11:52Speaker 1: a big knee injury after his first year. I feel
- 11:55Speaker 1: like preseason is huge for Joe. Joe hasn't missed anything.
- 11:58Speaker 1: He's been back since it started. With Carson ends, he
- 12:01Speaker 1: had two really good practices. I mean, I think most people,
- 12:03Speaker 1: if you're found along, Carson had an incredible cross body
- 12:06Speaker 1: throw that it just looked like old Carson Wentz deep downfield,
- 12:10Speaker 1: and then we see what happens. The guy is I
- 12:13Speaker 1: don't want to say he's unlucky, but he's definitely injury prone.
- 12:16Speaker 1: I mean, at this point, this many seasons in, he
- 12:18Speaker 1: keeps getting little injuries here and there, um and then
- 12:21Speaker 1: Quinn Nelson, like an All Pro guard, he has the
- 12:25Speaker 1: exact same injury. He's on the same thing. You just
- 12:27Speaker 1: had the same surgery five uns all weeks. So the
- 12:30Speaker 1: culture right now, they're taking on so much water. Chad.
- 12:33Speaker 1: I mean literally like I'm burning these tickets and I'm
- 12:36Speaker 1: I've already bought out for a decent Penny, and I'm
- 12:38Speaker 1: gonna put into the action that after the show I'm
- 12:41Speaker 1: in on Tennessee now minus one twenty for the division
- 12:43Speaker 1: on our friends at Vandel It's just one of these
- 12:46Speaker 1: simply that I just thought the Colts and then the
- 12:49Speaker 1: Colts had a bigger advantage where they were more complete team,
- 12:51Speaker 1: they had a better defense, and with Carson Wentz, who
- 12:53Speaker 1: I believe in, and we all know Chad does not
- 12:55Speaker 1: like Carson Wentz, he does not believing him. So Chad,
- 12:58Speaker 1: Chad was right on this one where I jaked a
- 13:00Speaker 1: kool aid and I had high hopes. But they're giving
- 13:03Speaker 1: a timetable five to twelve weeks, which five weeks is
- 13:06Speaker 1: week one. That's great, but we know what this is.
- 13:09Speaker 1: I mean, Tomathy can talk about it feels like this
- 13:11Speaker 1: is gonna be an eight to nine weeks at the earliest.
- 13:13Speaker 1: And then who really knows what his fancy value or
- 13:15Speaker 1: even a season value is of course, and once so
- 13:18Speaker 1: everyone on that team, Jonathan Taylor, all these guys are
- 13:20Speaker 1: just taking hits in the famous the world. So I'm
- 13:22Speaker 1: gonna interest here with Samantha has to say about all that. Yeah,
- 13:26Speaker 1: that timetable is pretty wide. It goes from week one
- 13:28Speaker 1: to week seven, so that's a really wide range of
- 13:31Speaker 1: outcomes in terms of a return for him. Rounder Jacob
- 13:36Speaker 1: Eason was getting first team reps in WinCE's absence. Uh,
- 13:41Speaker 1: it doesn't look like they're necessarily going to sign anyone
- 13:44Speaker 1: at this point. They did sign former Packers back up
- 13:47Speaker 1: Brett Hunley, so like, adjust your rankings accordingly and just kidding,
- 13:51Speaker 1: but you know, it's likely that Easton is an even
- 13:55Speaker 1: further downgrade for this offense. Uh. So I'm not high
- 13:59Speaker 1: on any the pass catchers. That's Michael Pittman, t Mike Hilton,
- 14:02Speaker 1: Paris Campbell. They were all consensus ranked below top fifty
- 14:06Speaker 1: receivers in Fantasy to begin with, so they were bench
- 14:09Speaker 1: capital at best. So they're going to carry even less
- 14:11Speaker 1: value um and only really worthy of consideration the deepest leagues.
- 14:16Speaker 1: I think that with like the passing game though being
- 14:19Speaker 1: held together with Spit and Glue, I think they may
- 14:21Speaker 1: be forced to lean more on the run game. That
- 14:24Speaker 1: could sort of help Jonathan Taylor, though he's already a
- 14:27Speaker 1: projected first round pick, so I don't think I'm moving
- 14:29Speaker 1: him around too much. Um, it could help guys like
- 14:32Speaker 1: nine him Hines, who's a pass catching running back. If
- 14:35Speaker 1: they're gonna go on the more conservative passing side and
- 14:38Speaker 1: do a lot of like short dumb off passes, I
- 14:40Speaker 1: could see him getting a lot of targets. He had
- 14:43Speaker 1: sixty three catches last year, which is third most in
- 14:45Speaker 1: the NFL among running backs. Were you, Samantha a buyer
- 14:51Speaker 1: and believer in Carson Wentz in your projections before the injury?
- 14:56Speaker 1: I was not. No. I I think what we saw
- 15:00Speaker 1: last season when he was getting benched is more of
- 15:04Speaker 1: what I think we were gonna see in Indianapolis, And
- 15:08Speaker 1: I wasn't super high on him. And that win total
- 15:10Speaker 1: now is nine and the under is minus on. So
- 15:15Speaker 1: Vegas definitely doesn't have a lot of faith in a
- 15:19Speaker 1: speedy return for wins or anything like that. There is
- 15:21Speaker 1: gonna be value. They're gonna get slaughtered these first couple
- 15:24Speaker 1: of weeks, like they have a brutal schedule. In the
- 15:25Speaker 1: fact that their quarterback is Easton is just I mean,
- 15:28Speaker 1: that's that's what I'm saying, Like these it's brutal, Like
- 15:31Speaker 1: we're gonna talk about their quarterbacks with injuries, but it's
- 15:33Speaker 1: just one of those where it's this is the worst
- 15:35Speaker 1: thing that could have happened for the cold. So for me,
- 15:38Speaker 1: I'm I'm gonna be in on the Colts where you know,
- 15:41Speaker 1: come October, I'm probably gonna be taking some of the
- 15:43Speaker 1: a little bit for them to win the division. Different
- 15:45Speaker 1: things like that, because I still think this is the
- 15:47Speaker 1: most complete team in this division. But man, that when
- 15:51Speaker 1: the when the injury bugs in a team like this
- 15:52Speaker 1: early in the preseason, it's just kind of sets up
- 15:54Speaker 1: for the whole season. So it's just give me a
- 15:56Speaker 1: lot of pause right now in the Colts, Simon, I
- 15:59Speaker 1: am so out looking forward to Week five when the
- 16:05Speaker 1: Colts have played better for about two weeks, but they've
- 16:09Speaker 1: still lost after getting blown out in the first two weeks,
- 16:12Speaker 1: and you're looking at your numbers and you're saying to me, Chad,
- 16:17Speaker 1: the b B B of the week is going to
- 16:22Speaker 1: be the Indianapolis Colts plus seven against somebody, And I'm
- 16:26Speaker 1: gonna be like what, And then I'm gonna have to
- 16:29Speaker 1: go on Colin Show and I'm gonna have to convince
- 16:31Speaker 1: him at the Cults are the right side, and he's
- 16:34Speaker 1: gonna be like what, And then we're gonna have to
- 16:36Speaker 1: come back on the favorite after talking about the picks
- 16:39Speaker 1: that I made Colin pick, and we're gonna have to
- 16:41Speaker 1: convince ourselves still that the Colts are the right side.
- 16:45Speaker 1: I know it's it's it's literally the worst Chad, but
- 16:48Speaker 1: this is how we win, baby. Uh. You mentioned other quarterbacks,
- 16:52Speaker 1: Matthew Stafford, Dak Prescott's got a little bit of a
- 16:55Speaker 1: shoulder thing. I don't think that worries me very much, um,
- 16:58Speaker 1: because I'm not a buyer in the Boys either way.
- 17:01Speaker 1: The Stafford thing is really interesting to me. Injured thumb.
- 17:04Speaker 1: I don't know how serious it's going to be. I
- 17:06Speaker 1: don't know the extent of the injury. Samantha. Maybe you're
- 17:08Speaker 1: keeping track of that, um, But this, Simon, speaks to
- 17:15Speaker 1: the heart of your disagreement with me about the value
- 17:20Speaker 1: on the Rams or the Niners in what I think
- 17:23Speaker 1: we can both agree might be the best division in football.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Give me the Niners, Samantha. What's the latest on Matthew
- 17:30Speaker 1: Stafford's thumb. Yeah, so he hit his surgically repaired thumb
- 17:34Speaker 1: that was his left thumb and as helma yesterday in
- 17:37Speaker 1: a freak accident. Initially, Sean McVeigh was saying that they
- 17:41Speaker 1: don't know anything. They think he'll be okay. The latest
- 17:44Speaker 1: is that he has a swollen thumb. X rays were negative.
- 17:47Speaker 1: He will likely miss a few days, but nothing major.
- 17:49Speaker 1: And this is a guy that you know really before
- 17:51Speaker 1: that major injury, and he hadn't missed any games. And
- 17:56Speaker 1: I don't think this is necessarily like a huge deal.
- 17:58Speaker 1: So it's like a one out of ten on the
- 18:00Speaker 1: Warriomere No. I mean, I don't wish ill on anybody,
- 18:05Speaker 1: but I would like the Niners to have a better
- 18:08Speaker 1: year than the Rams. Yeah, that was definitely scary as
- 18:12Speaker 1: someone that is like I haven't put a lot of
- 18:14Speaker 1: money into the Rams, but I am the I am
- 18:16Speaker 1: a believer they're the best team in that division. So
- 18:18Speaker 1: it was like, of course, like this is what's happening
- 18:20Speaker 1: right now. I'm turning into pure mush. I mean, we
- 18:22Speaker 1: didn't even talked about it. I forgot to bring it
- 18:24Speaker 1: up last week. Chead. I don't know if you know this.
- 18:26Speaker 1: I hit up Matt Mitchell when the Sun's are up
- 18:28Speaker 1: to nothing, and I had made a bet that I
- 18:32Speaker 1: talked about the show way back on June eighth. I
- 18:34Speaker 1: talked about taking Chris Paul, but when m VP at
- 18:36Speaker 1: forty two one. I live man, Mitchell, I go, hey, man,
- 18:39Speaker 1: get this video ready for when the Sun's win. Right now,
- 18:43Speaker 1: you can find a really good value on FanDuel on
- 18:46Speaker 1: the m v P of the finals. So Chris Paul one.
- 18:50Speaker 1: So I feel like that's pretty good value. If they're
- 18:52Speaker 1: gonna win it all, it's gonna because of Chris Paul.
- 18:54Speaker 1: He just seems like he's facilitating that old team. And
- 18:57Speaker 1: of course the Bucks going to the next four games.
- 19:00Speaker 1: So I am slowly turning into mush chat. So, yeah,
- 19:04Speaker 1: a team I've been talking about a little bit. It's
- 19:06Speaker 1: againce again, it's not good. We got a guy Stafford
- 19:09Speaker 1: that's on a new team. They're hoping it's just a
- 19:11Speaker 1: couple of weeks, you know, the swelling will go down,
- 19:13Speaker 1: then they'll be able to really figure out from there.
- 19:14Speaker 1: But like Samantha just said, it's a surgicy repaired hand.
- 19:17Speaker 1: He literally just banged the hand on a guy's helmet,
- 19:20Speaker 1: which is one of the worst things you can do,
- 19:21Speaker 1: so scary. But it sounds like, yeah, we dodge a
- 19:24Speaker 1: bullet there. He might he might only be out for
- 19:25Speaker 1: a week or two. Are there any injuries right now?
- 19:29Speaker 1: We're talking about Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper, Say Kwan Barkley,
- 19:34Speaker 1: Davonte Smith, Jalen Waddle. Any injuries, Samantha that you're looking
- 19:39Speaker 1: at from a fantasy point of view that are making
- 19:43Speaker 1: you think about how you're rating players or looking at
- 19:49Speaker 1: potential sleeper opportunities in the backups to these guys. Yeah,
- 19:53Speaker 1: Amari Cooper's is I think a moderate concern at this point.
- 19:57Speaker 1: He's consensus ranked his wide receiver four, so you're using
- 20:00Speaker 1: a lot of draft capital to get him. He's likely
- 20:03Speaker 1: or wide receiver one. That's two spots below Ceedee Lamb. Now,
- 20:06Speaker 1: now those guys were like dead even, and I think
- 20:09Speaker 1: Cooper had the edge earlier in the off season, and
- 20:12Speaker 1: now it's kind of dropping because he has yet to
- 20:15Speaker 1: be activated from the publist while still rehabbing from a
- 20:18Speaker 1: minor ankle surgery. Mike McCarthy says he likes the like
- 20:22Speaker 1: progress being made, but it's hard to kind of trust
- 20:25Speaker 1: coach talk at this point. Um This could obviously open
- 20:28Speaker 1: the door for Lamb to truly break out and establish
- 20:31Speaker 1: himself as the wide receiver one. If Cooper ends up
- 20:34Speaker 1: missing time, or even if he doesn't miss time, he
- 20:37Speaker 1: has a little bit less explosion something like that. I
- 20:40Speaker 1: think that this really skyrockets Lamb's UH value at this point.
- 20:46Speaker 1: And then Michael Gallup is another guy who is one
- 20:49Speaker 1: of my favorite later round sleepers this year, and he
- 20:51Speaker 1: could definitely have more value. He caught eight hundred forty
- 20:54Speaker 1: three yards last year. Is the Cowboys wide receiver three.
- 20:57Speaker 1: So if we're going to see some kind of decline
- 20:59Speaker 1: from Coop for um, I think Gallup could see a
- 21:01Speaker 1: bigger role. Do we do? Gallup is one of those
- 21:05Speaker 1: guys who's fascinated because he's got such good hands and
- 21:07Speaker 1: seeming to make every catch. Is he a guy who
- 21:09Speaker 1: becomes less effective if he gets more time? No, I
- 21:13Speaker 1: don't think so. I think we've seen him be effective
- 21:17Speaker 1: when he had a larger role in this offense. So
- 21:19Speaker 1: I think when you're drafting him at like wide receiver fifty,
- 21:23Speaker 1: he's going to pay off at his ADP. So that's
- 21:26Speaker 1: all you're kind of looking for in drafts, right to
- 21:28Speaker 1: like make sure they pay off where they're relatively drafted.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I don't think Gallup is a better receiver than Cooper
- 21:34Speaker 1: or anything like that, but I'm not reaching for Cooper someone.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Do you have any thoughts or concerns and injuries before
- 21:40Speaker 1: I move on to our next rapid fire topic. Yeah,
- 21:42Speaker 1: if we're just looking in fantasy wise, I've been staying
- 21:44Speaker 1: away from se quon Um just everything I look at,
- 21:48Speaker 1: Like a lot of stuff goes into fantasy obviously, and
- 21:50Speaker 1: they're going to talk about that. But for me, for
- 21:52Speaker 1: running backs, I need a guy that's going to catch
- 21:54Speaker 1: the ball. That's really how you max out our running
- 21:56Speaker 1: backs value. Like you can go back and look at
- 21:58Speaker 1: Derrick Henry I one of the best running back seasons ever.
- 22:00Speaker 1: I think he was the third highest rated running back.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Like it's it's one of those where if you don't
- 22:04Speaker 1: catch the ball, you're not really adding value. And we've
- 22:07Speaker 1: seen the Giants they've had at Kenny golladagg So they
- 22:09Speaker 1: have another pass catch who's gonna get the ball and
- 22:12Speaker 1: Sean back yet like they're talking about him in my
- 22:14Speaker 1: miss week one or two. So he's one of these
- 22:16Speaker 1: guys where I'm not taking him in the first round
- 22:18Speaker 1: or the end of like the very beginning of the
- 22:20Speaker 1: secon round. He's kind of a guy I've been letting dropped.
- 22:21Speaker 1: So I saw they just signed another running back the Giants.
- 22:24Speaker 1: It's just making me more worried about stake Kuan, So
- 22:26Speaker 1: he's a guy I've definitely not been drafting. I am
- 22:29Speaker 1: shocked to hear you talk about fantasy I don't. I
- 22:35Speaker 1: try not to get in that line because I know
- 22:36Speaker 1: that's like people's like that's their career and like they
- 22:39Speaker 1: need to do it. But no one else gave out
- 22:42Speaker 1: Justin Jefferson ranked one, or Justin Herbert and their top
- 22:45Speaker 1: twenty quarterbacks last year. It's just what I do chat.
- 22:48Speaker 1: So people want my fantasy stuff, I'm gonna send some
- 22:51Speaker 1: stuff out, but yeah, I definitely that's not my lane
- 22:53Speaker 1: because it's more like I just have the date of
- 22:56Speaker 1: the numbers. So like, hell if I knew Justin Jefferson
- 22:59Speaker 1: was gonna be a top twenty receiver last year, but
- 23:01Speaker 1: my data said he was gonna be insanely good, so
- 23:04Speaker 1: that's the reason I gave that out. So yeah, I
- 23:06Speaker 1: definitely have rankings, but I would not call myself a
- 23:09Speaker 1: professional fantasy play. I mean Justin Jefferson ship. Like I
- 23:13Speaker 1: looked at FanDuel the other day too, because I want
- 23:15Speaker 1: to make a bet on who would have the most
- 23:17Speaker 1: receiving yards for the season to leave the league, and
- 23:20Speaker 1: he was the second shortest odds behind Calvin Ridley and
- 23:24Speaker 1: Calvin Ridley. By the way, I think a couple months
- 23:26Speaker 1: ago was twelve to one and now he's down to
- 23:28Speaker 1: six to one. Matt Freeman gave that out, I believe
- 23:31Speaker 1: on our show Who's that? I forget? Not familiar with that, kidding, kidding,
- 23:37Speaker 1: Matt Freeman went to fade the noise. Matt Freeman the
- 23:40Speaker 1: first person that ever called some at the BAVIDI on
- 23:43Speaker 1: behalf of the Action Network, So we owe him that much.
- 23:45Speaker 1: There we go. What a guy. Yeah, I am similarly
- 23:49Speaker 1: concerned about Barkley. Uh. He tore his e c L
- 23:52Speaker 1: in week two of last year, which to me seems
- 23:55Speaker 1: like the appropriate timeline for a return the next year.
- 24:00Speaker 1: And it is very concerning that they're already saying early on,
- 24:04Speaker 1: like this was early July that they were saying like
- 24:06Speaker 1: they're not sure about a week one return. So he
- 24:09Speaker 1: is a guy that's definitely been dropping in drafts a lot,
- 24:12Speaker 1: and plus that offensive line is still not up to
- 24:16Speaker 1: par and that could certainly hurt his value, also exposed
- 24:21Speaker 1: him to more injuries and just in general, like, I
- 24:25Speaker 1: don't think the Giants are necessarily going to be a
- 24:27Speaker 1: team that's super super competitive, so they might not, you know,
- 24:31Speaker 1: want to give him three hundred carries this year. So
- 24:34Speaker 1: it's um, it's definitely a risky play. You're you're saying
- 24:37Speaker 1: Danny Dimes can't bring the Giants back to domination. That
- 24:42Speaker 1: doesn't sound at all like something that is in reality,
- 24:46Speaker 1: because that is going to be an amazing team, because
- 24:48Speaker 1: that is a team that Simon and I needed to
- 24:51Speaker 1: cover in the last game of the year against the Cowboys,
- 24:53Speaker 1: and despite fumbling after securing the game, clinching first down,
- 24:58Speaker 1: then recovering the fumble, they did what they had to do.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Huge expectations for the Giants. I'm kidding, it's a joke,
- 25:06Speaker 1: just sarcasm. And now a word from our favorite sponsor,

- 26:53Speaker 1: one of the biggest debates that Colin Cowherd and I
- 26:56Speaker 1: had this past week on his podcast. He is a
- 27:00Speaker 1: big believer in the under on the Broncos season win total.
- 27:04Speaker 1: I am agnostic. My argument was, I am not going
- 27:08Speaker 1: to feel passionate about that one. I think there are
- 27:11Speaker 1: so many that we can feel good about. And the
- 27:14Speaker 1: Broncos the quarterback battle Luck versus Bridgewater. I kind of
- 27:18Speaker 1: feel like Bridgewater is gonna win, and if he does,
- 27:19Speaker 1: it gives him a better chance to be over their
- 27:21Speaker 1: season win total. How are you handicapping the quarterback battle
- 27:25Speaker 1: in Denver? Simon your first I mean, of course, you know,
- 27:30Speaker 1: we're hoping it's Teddy Covers That one's that job chat.
- 27:32Speaker 1: I mean, we love Teddy covers Um. It's our breaking
- 27:37Speaker 1: the Broncos. I had them great out as the top
- 27:39Speaker 1: four defense right now, and they can move into my
- 27:42Speaker 1: top three. I'd like I have to get more data
- 27:43Speaker 1: on them and see how they do this year. But
- 27:46Speaker 1: this is just a team on paper that every position
- 27:49Speaker 1: they are stacked. I mean they're wide receiving corpiers. Just
- 27:53Speaker 1: it's incredible how good they're, what offensive weapons are. And
- 27:56Speaker 1: just from watching the film last year with Locke, he's
- 27:58Speaker 1: just one of these guys that he was terrible most games,
- 28:02Speaker 1: then in the fourth quarter he'd wake up and throw
- 28:03Speaker 1: for maybe two or three touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
- 28:06Speaker 1: But it's one of those where they're not really gonna Um,
- 28:09Speaker 1: I can't see them letting that go where I I
- 28:11Speaker 1: thought Teddy was gonna be the quarterback. He was gonna
- 28:12Speaker 1: win this job pretty easily. But the more I read
- 28:15Speaker 1: from these Denver guys, it's like the beat writers, it
- 28:18Speaker 1: just seems like they're really going to give it to Lock,
- 28:20Speaker 1: like Lock really has to lose this job. So it's
- 28:24Speaker 1: one of those where I'm I was gonna make I
- 28:27Speaker 1: was gonna bet a decent amount of Bridgewater be the
- 28:29Speaker 1: Week one starter. Now I'm not touching it because I
- 28:31Speaker 1: do think it's going to be unlocked because it just
- 28:33Speaker 1: seems like he's a guy they've invested in. They brought
- 28:35Speaker 1: Teddy and just to kind of give him competition to
- 28:38Speaker 1: see if they can make him a better player. Samantha,
- 28:40Speaker 1: what are you seeing as someone who is living in
- 28:43Speaker 1: the area. Yeah, it seems like the Beat writers are
- 28:46Speaker 1: going back and forth in terms of one has a
- 28:50Speaker 1: good day and then the next one has a good day,
- 28:51Speaker 1: and then another one has a good day, and it
- 28:53Speaker 1: really just feels like it's going to be a battle.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Vegas obviously thinks so too, because they're tied at plus
- 28:58Speaker 1: one twenty um to take the first TV snap at
- 29:02Speaker 1: this point. I mean, they're just totally different players and
- 29:05Speaker 1: have totally different skill sets. Bridgewater has that game manager aspect,
- 29:09Speaker 1: while Locke is much more of that gun slinger. I
- 29:11Speaker 1: think Bridgewater will keep them more competitive and gives them
- 29:14Speaker 1: a better shot at, you know, hitting the over on
- 29:17Speaker 1: the wind total, which is eight point five um. I
- 29:20Speaker 1: think in terms of fantasy Bridgewater will probably be better
- 29:23Speaker 1: for certain aspects. I think Courtland Sunton has a better
- 29:26Speaker 1: rapport with Drew lock But for guys like Jerry Judy
- 29:30Speaker 1: and No a Fan and probably the running backs, I
- 29:32Speaker 1: think Bridgewater is going to be the better bet. Sorry
- 29:35Speaker 1: to answer you chat, I'm on the under as well.
- 29:38Speaker 1: I'm just uh, I don't know. It's one of these
- 29:40Speaker 1: where It's this mainly because of the division they're in
- 29:42Speaker 1: where I just have such high hopes for the Chargers,
- 29:45Speaker 1: and I just think the Chiefs are gonna achieve, so
- 29:47Speaker 1: to me, them in Oakland and be fighting it out
- 29:49Speaker 1: for that three four spot. So I'm definitely on the
- 29:51Speaker 1: under for this team at eight and a half. Yeah,
- 29:53Speaker 1: this to me, it makes no sense that Bridgewater wouldn't
- 29:59Speaker 1: be the automatic starter here. Drew lock Uh is a
- 30:04Speaker 1: loose cannon um of an arm and a thinker who
- 30:08Speaker 1: had tremendous amount of turnovers last year, who was one
- 30:12Speaker 1: of the least accurate quarterbacks in the NFL, who um
- 30:17Speaker 1: cost his team opportunities to win as often as he
- 30:20Speaker 1: would get them back into a game with heroics. They
- 30:24Speaker 1: were a common team for us, Simon Tibet because we
- 30:26Speaker 1: knew the number was always wrong and it was based
- 30:29Speaker 1: on public perception, and yet they still found ways to
- 30:33Speaker 1: consistently break our heart. Um. And in Bridgewater, you get
- 30:37Speaker 1: a guy who's good enough to take advantage of the
- 30:40Speaker 1: talent to take a advantage of Courtland Sutton coming back
- 30:43Speaker 1: to take advantage of Jerry Judy, who can probably be
- 30:46Speaker 1: superstar in this league. And then and right no a fan,
- 30:49Speaker 1: and then like in Vic Fangio, you've got a coach.
- 30:54Speaker 1: I am surprised he wouldn't want to have a quarterback
- 30:59Speaker 1: who wasn't gonna lose him games. Given how defensive oriented
- 31:02Speaker 1: he is, given the fact they'll have Von Miller back,
- 31:04Speaker 1: given the fact they've improved their defensive backfield, it makes
- 31:08Speaker 1: no sense to me that Drew Lock would even be
- 31:11Speaker 1: in this conversation. So I would bet Bridgewater a plus
- 31:14Speaker 1: one twenty and if I thought he was, if I
- 31:17Speaker 1: thought he was going to start, I'd be a little
- 31:20Speaker 1: more comfortable bet in the over. But it's a stay
- 31:23Speaker 1: away from me. What do you think that? Breakdown? Folks?
- 31:28Speaker 1: We love the Chad you're the best? Thank you? Uh Simon,
- 31:32Speaker 1: you think the I love that you knew exactly what
- 31:36Speaker 1: I was looking for and you said it in a
- 31:39Speaker 1: way that's almost like, Honestly, that's how my kids and
- 31:44Speaker 1: my wife say it to me when I am looking
- 31:46Speaker 1: for some kind of It's just like, yeah, I just
- 31:51Speaker 1: say he's the best and let's move on. Uh So,
- 31:55Speaker 1: Jameis Winston Taysom Hill, Simon, you think this might be
- 31:58Speaker 1: the best preseason quarterback bet on the board, Explain yourself. Yeah,
- 32:04Speaker 1: this one in the myth fair situation. So for here,
- 32:07Speaker 1: I think it's one of these where people just love
- 32:09Speaker 1: Jamis Um. I love him too. He was just so
- 32:13Speaker 1: much fun to watch that year he went thirty thirty
- 32:15Speaker 1: like we'll never see that again, thirty year receptions, thirty touchdowns.
- 32:18Speaker 1: It's just a magical, magical thing that he did. Especially
- 32:21Speaker 1: the fact that he ended that year on a pick
- 32:22Speaker 1: six was just, I mean, truly chef's kiss um. Yeah, Honestly,
- 32:28Speaker 1: the Winston the more I've watched videos of him and
- 32:32Speaker 1: even his interviews, he just seems so much more mature
- 32:34Speaker 1: than his time in Tampa, the way he talks and everything.
- 32:37Speaker 1: I got him swinging a little bit. But for me,
- 32:41Speaker 1: the value is still so insane. Words it's plus I
- 32:43Speaker 1: think we gave it a plus two forty um the
- 32:46Speaker 1: fact that Taysom Hill could be the Week one starter.
- 32:50Speaker 1: So for me, it's one of those where I just
- 32:52Speaker 1: see Seanpagne and running to a two systems, a two
- 32:55Speaker 1: QB kind of all offense where he doesn't really know either,
- 32:58Speaker 1: like he's gonna he's waiting for one of them to
- 33:00Speaker 1: win the job. And to me, I could see Winston
- 33:03Speaker 1: making the mistakes in preseason or even practice where that
- 33:06Speaker 1: he wouldn't be the weak one starter, that Taysom Hill
- 33:08Speaker 1: could just be the first series he could be the starter.
- 33:11Speaker 1: So there's just a lot of things that point to it,
- 33:13Speaker 1: because even I mean the coaches talk in the red zone,
- 33:16Speaker 1: Taysom Hill is probably gonna be the quarterback for most
- 33:18Speaker 1: red zone possessions. That's how he likes to run that offense.
- 33:22Speaker 1: And it's all pointed to that. Just the fact that
- 33:25Speaker 1: it's like, should we just talked about Denver without plus
- 33:27Speaker 1: one each quarterback to be the week one starter. This
- 33:30Speaker 1: feels like it should be the same thing. This feels
- 33:32Speaker 1: like a true toss up between Winston Hill. They're both
- 33:34Speaker 1: getting paid money. I think Hill is actually making more money.
- 33:37Speaker 1: So it's just one of those where it's really interesting
- 33:39Speaker 1: where the public perception is everyone loves Winston, so everyone's
- 33:42Speaker 1: betting Winston, where no one really knows. Even Shampagne doesn't know.
- 33:45Speaker 1: He says an open competition right now. So for me,
- 33:47Speaker 1: I still love that value of plus two. It's twenty.
- 33:49Speaker 1: How are you seeing in Samantha, Yeah, it's a really
- 33:52Speaker 1: frustrating situation. I think Undraftkings right now, Winston to take
- 33:57Speaker 1: the Saints first snap is um my this one forty
- 34:00Speaker 1: and then no is plus one ten. Uh So you're right.
- 34:04Speaker 1: I think a lot of people do think that Winston
- 34:06Speaker 1: should be the guy. It's it's frustrating because I think
- 34:10Speaker 1: Sean Payton is a literal mastermind with an offense, but
- 34:15Speaker 1: it's frustrating to see him also shoehorn Taysom Hill into
- 34:18Speaker 1: situations that I don't think necessarily our best in the
- 34:22Speaker 1: best interest for the Saints. Um. I mean Hill was
- 34:25Speaker 1: the starter with Drew Brees out last season. I think
- 34:28Speaker 1: he went three and one in those four starts. Um.
- 34:31Speaker 1: But I think that Jamis Winston, especially for fantasy football,
- 34:35Speaker 1: gives that team a lot more dynamic, a lot more
- 34:40Speaker 1: dynamic aspects. He's going to be a gun slinger. He's
- 34:43Speaker 1: thrown for five thousand yards in the past, and that's
- 34:46Speaker 1: really going to bolster guys like Michael Thomas and especially
- 34:51Speaker 1: Alvin Kamara, who kind of took a huge hit when
- 34:54Speaker 1: Taysom Hill was in there. It's a tricky one. So
- 34:58Speaker 1: much is dependent on that team and how they perform
- 35:01Speaker 1: in that division. It's such a strange division. After the
- 35:03Speaker 1: box like are you buying the Falcons? Are you buying
- 35:07Speaker 1: the Panthers. I'm gonna tell you we might become an
- 35:09Speaker 1: Atlanta Falcons podcast. Just I'm trying are not to be
- 35:13Speaker 1: that guy. We're gonna get to the the divisional things. But
- 35:16Speaker 1: the more I look at it, the more I'm starting
- 35:18Speaker 1: to love Atlanta. Chad, it's bad. Oh my god, Well
- 35:21Speaker 1: looks well. Here's the thing. We talked about the Colts
- 35:25Speaker 1: and the Titans earlier in the show in the a
- 35:27Speaker 1: f C South, and we were both veried down on
- 35:33Speaker 1: the Titans for a variety of reasons. But I do
- 35:36Speaker 1: think we believed one of those reasons was because Arthur
- 35:38Speaker 1: Smith was leaving and he had done a lot of
- 35:42Speaker 1: good things with Ryan Tannehill. And if you believe that
- 35:46Speaker 1: the Titans are going to be worse because he is leaving,
- 35:49Speaker 1: then part of you has to believe the Falcons will
- 35:53Speaker 1: be better because of his arrival. And I understand that
- 35:57Speaker 1: there's a difference from being offensive coordinator working closely with
- 36:00Speaker 1: your quarterback and having Derrick Henry to being the head
- 36:03Speaker 1: coach and sort of a team that that that seems
- 36:07Speaker 1: to have no hurt. But he's still is a guy
- 36:12Speaker 1: who's going to be able to help Matt Ryan and
- 36:15Speaker 1: help influence what could be one of the best offenses
- 36:18Speaker 1: in the NFL. No, really, it's really there. This same
- 36:21Speaker 1: exact team Tennessee was last year was gonna have one
- 36:24Speaker 1: of the worst defenses in all football with one of
- 36:26Speaker 1: the best offenses. So it's gonna be truly interesting to see.
- 36:29Speaker 1: We've seen Matt Ryan his career year was with Kyle Shanahan.
- 36:34Speaker 1: We'll see if he can work the magic once again.
- 36:36Speaker 1: And uh, if offensive genius can turn Matt Ryan into
- 36:39Speaker 1: an m v P again. Samantha, how are you grading
- 36:42Speaker 1: Matt Ryan right now? I will say he's another one.
- 36:47Speaker 1: I looked at the odds on fan duel to see
- 36:51Speaker 1: where he was to throw for the most yards, because
- 36:54Speaker 1: I already like Calvin Ridley for most receiving yards, and
- 36:57Speaker 1: Matt Ryan was about twelve to one or fourteen to one. Yeah,
- 37:02Speaker 1: he's consensus ranked just QB fourteen right now. That's in
- 37:06Speaker 1: a tier with Stafford Borrow, Trevor Lawrence, Kirk, Cousins, Jalen
- 37:11Speaker 1: Hurts like that kind of vicinity. I think he has
- 37:14Speaker 1: a lot more upside than some of those guys, so
- 37:17Speaker 1: I'm higher and more bullish on him than I think
- 37:19Speaker 1: other people are. I think a lot of people are
- 37:22Speaker 1: seeing this subtraction of Julio Jones and kind of what
- 37:26Speaker 1: you said in terms of like that team just like
- 37:28Speaker 1: lacking direction and heart. Um. But I think that they're
- 37:31Speaker 1: going to be a really good offense because their defense
- 37:34Speaker 1: is bad too. It's going to keep the offense quite busy.
- 37:37Speaker 1: And I'm super excited about Kyle Pitts um from a
- 37:41Speaker 1: fantasy perspective and an actual NFL perspective. So, yeah, they
- 37:45Speaker 1: lost Julio Jones, but they also got a generational talent
- 37:49Speaker 1: Kyle Pitts. We assume, right, we assume. We don't know.
- 37:53Speaker 1: We don't know yet, we don't know what he's We
- 37:55Speaker 1: can only hope, I hope, we can only hope. We
- 37:58Speaker 1: can only predict. That's what we do. But the lack
- 38:01Speaker 1: of a heart thing, I think is really a big deal,
- 38:04Speaker 1: And it has spanned several different coaches, and I say
- 38:10Speaker 1: this as a very specific criticism. The constant has been
- 38:15Speaker 1: Matt Ryant. I'm not saying the guy isn't courageous in
- 38:18Speaker 1: the pocket. I'm not saying he's not competitive. I'm not
- 38:21Speaker 1: saying that he's not incredibly talented, but I do think
- 38:24Speaker 1: here's a guy who's not probably not gonna go on
- 38:26Speaker 1: the Hall of Fame, yet have end up being a
- 38:28Speaker 1: guy with the most yards ever to not be in
- 38:30Speaker 1: the Hall of Fame. And throughout his career, consistently this
- 38:34Speaker 1: has been a team that overperforms and then all of
- 38:38Speaker 1: a sudden underperforms. And we saw that in micro cosmic
- 38:42Speaker 1: view in the Super Bowl, and it has continued to
- 38:45Speaker 1: be true since they lost that Super Bowl. I don't
- 38:49Speaker 1: know how this team ever gets back to the quality
- 38:52Speaker 1: of the team that it once was um with him
- 38:55Speaker 1: at quarterback. Yeah, and it's it's definitely one of those
- 38:59Speaker 1: where I is driving the train that they should move
- 39:02Speaker 1: on from him and draft a quarterback and number four, because,
- 39:04Speaker 1: like you just said, Matt Ryan, he he just seemed
- 39:07Speaker 1: like a guy that put together a couple of great seasons,
- 39:09Speaker 1: but he was never a great quarterback. Like it was
- 39:12Speaker 1: never really that you feared Matt Ryan coming to play
- 39:14Speaker 1: your team, Mattie Ice. So it's definitely interested me that
- 39:17Speaker 1: they have an owner who's just so loyal to this
- 39:19Speaker 1: guy that he's just gonna keep it keep it going.
- 39:21Speaker 1: Where to me, they're in the perfect spot to start
- 39:23Speaker 1: to rebuild. So for this is it. I mean, maybe
- 39:26Speaker 1: I'll give him another year after this, but it seems
- 39:28Speaker 1: like this is one or two years left of Matt
- 39:30Speaker 1: Ryan like down there in Atlanta, So he really does
- 39:32Speaker 1: need to show up this year. Al Right, last topic,
- 39:35Speaker 1: I want to get to the Hall of Fame game.
- 39:37Speaker 1: But before we do that, Uh, Samantha, backfield obviously vitally
- 39:43Speaker 1: important in the fantasy space. Give me the backfield you
- 39:47Speaker 1: are avoiding in fantasy right now? Yeah, the top one
- 39:51Speaker 1: that I'm avoiding is the Lions. That's spearheaded by DeAndre
- 39:55Speaker 1: Swift and then Jamal Williams and Jamar Jefferson. Uh. Spitch
- 39:59Speaker 1: finished is RB twenty and half PPR last season, which
- 40:02Speaker 1: is good, not great for a rookie season. Um, but
- 40:07Speaker 1: that whole offense, I just think there's a really strong
- 40:10Speaker 1: chance that it is not great. It's an anemic offense
- 40:13Speaker 1: and he's got a lot of competition. Jamal Williams finished
- 40:16Speaker 1: as RB thirty eight backing up Aaron Jones in Green Bay,
- 40:20Speaker 1: so that's gonna be a number of touches kind of
- 40:22Speaker 1: taken away from him. And then they also drafted a
- 40:24Speaker 1: guy in the seventh round, so I think they're also
- 40:27Speaker 1: going to be trailing frequently. It's a backfield that I'm
- 40:30Speaker 1: not excited about. DeAndre Swift is one of my biggest
- 40:32Speaker 1: bust candidates, which is sad as a Georgia fan. Uh
- 40:36Speaker 1: do you know why? Do you know why the offense
- 40:39Speaker 1: is anemic? They have no receivers and their quarterback is
- 40:44Speaker 1: Jared Goff. I mean you could take it literally, but
- 40:46Speaker 1: I would say it's because they're too heavy on a
- 40:49Speaker 1: diet of eating kneecaps, and everyone knows kneecaps are low
- 40:52Speaker 1: and iron. Sorry, I did not realize that was a
- 40:56Speaker 1: setup for a joke. No one did. No one did
- 40:59Speaker 1: a chat. But I got it there, I got it there.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Do you want to put out there? I have the lines.
- 41:07Speaker 1: They are one of the top bottom three worst teams
- 41:11Speaker 1: in football. They actually have a top five offensive line.
- 41:13Speaker 1: So sneaky, sneaky team that has a crazy good offensive line.
- 41:17Speaker 1: I don't know which out of those running backs is
- 41:18Speaker 1: gonna be good, but one running back is definitely gonna
- 41:21Speaker 1: pop there that that's a team that's gonna be able
- 41:22Speaker 1: to run the ball because they just have I mean,
- 41:25Speaker 1: they seriously have the biggest old line in football, Like,
- 41:27Speaker 1: that's what they wanted to do. They just want to
- 41:28Speaker 1: have a huge old line and that's what they have.
- 41:30Speaker 1: So it's definitely interesting to hear her talk about that
- 41:33Speaker 1: because I've looking in drafts tune. I have no idea
- 41:36Speaker 1: who to take. They just have three all pretty much
- 41:38Speaker 1: the same running backs that do different things though, So
- 41:41Speaker 1: it's interesting she that she said that she's avoiding it
- 41:43Speaker 1: because I am too. Well, look, we can all agree
- 41:45Speaker 1: that other than the Alliance and Simon, you and I
- 41:47Speaker 1: have talked about this a lot. You could give me
- 41:50Speaker 1: any number on the Houston Texans, and I'm taking their
- 41:52Speaker 1: under win total. It's four, right, it's four at four
- 41:58Speaker 1: and a half, thank god. But yeah, honestly, if they
- 42:01Speaker 1: were a three and a half, I'd probably take it. Uh.
- 42:04Speaker 1: How do you feel about their backfield? Oh god, I'm
- 42:07Speaker 1: This whole team is a stay away for me. Uh.
- 42:10Speaker 1: It's got David Johnson, Philip Flinty Mark Ingram, and Rex
- 42:13Speaker 1: Burke Head and there's not one guy in that group
- 42:16Speaker 1: even if they were on another team that I would
- 42:18Speaker 1: be super excited about drafting. And the fact that they're
- 42:21Speaker 1: all together on one team on a team that's kind
- 42:24Speaker 1: of rife with dysfunction. We have really no idea what
- 42:28Speaker 1: is going to happen with Shaun Watson. He did not
- 42:31Speaker 1: report to the first day of padded practice today. Um,
- 42:36Speaker 1: so he apparently has some kind of foot injury as well,
- 42:39Speaker 1: and then also obviously the looming uh legal troubles. So yeah,
- 42:44Speaker 1: that's that's just to kind of stay away from me altogether.
- 42:47Speaker 1: Brandon Cooks is the only guy that's like a sort
- 42:49Speaker 1: of intriguing thing, but like, who's going to be throwing
- 42:52Speaker 1: to him, like Davis Mills. I don't know, that's not
- 42:55Speaker 1: exciting to me. Yeah, people please stop drafting Watson. He
- 42:59Speaker 1: is not He's not playing like they literally had him
- 43:01Speaker 1: out there playing special like defense. It's like a guy
- 43:04Speaker 1: that was just staying out there. So it's one of
- 43:06Speaker 1: those where, yeah, he says his foot hurts because he
- 43:08Speaker 1: can he can't not go there. So basically, the NFL
- 43:11Speaker 1: made a rule that if you don't show up, they
- 43:13Speaker 1: can find you fifty K and there's no way of
- 43:15Speaker 1: the team paying at off. You have to pay it.
- 43:17Speaker 1: So that's what everyone's waiting for. Your wait for him
- 43:19Speaker 1: to say, you know, my foothhurts, like Okay, just go
- 43:21Speaker 1: in the training room every day for the next two months.
- 43:23Speaker 1: So it's one of those where he's not playing. Please
- 43:26Speaker 1: stop drafting Deshaun Watson thinking you're getting a late round value.
- 43:29Speaker 1: He's not worth it. Yeah. I don't think the reporting
- 43:31Speaker 1: thing was actually like that big of a deal that
- 43:33Speaker 1: he was taking fourth team reps and like you said,
- 43:35Speaker 1: he was literally like a stand in defensive back. So
- 43:39Speaker 1: not super encouraging. A train wreck of a team headed
- 43:45Speaker 1: for a dumpster fire that is situated on top of
- 43:49Speaker 1: a nuclear power plant that is melting down. That right
- 43:54Speaker 1: there is the Houston Texans franchise, Samantha, give me one
- 44:00Speaker 1: more backfield on a team that some of us otherwise
- 44:06Speaker 1: might think is a sleeper pick to win the NFC
- 44:12Speaker 1: M I assume you're talking about the forty Niners. Yeah,
- 44:18Speaker 1: the forty Niners. I think I have a lot of
- 44:21Speaker 1: components for actual you know, NFL and winning games, but
- 44:27Speaker 1: their backfield is quite the headache. Kyle Shanahan has commitment issues,
- 44:32Speaker 1: doesn't love to use the committee to start with, moster
- 44:35Speaker 1: can't stay healthy. Um when he's on the field, I
- 44:38Speaker 1: think he can give you RB two flex numbers, but
- 44:41Speaker 1: they also drafted Tray Sermon and they got Wayne Gallman
- 44:45Speaker 1: and Jeff Wilson, a lot of guys and like last season,
- 44:49Speaker 1: it was one of the biggest headaches. It was like, JA,
- 44:51Speaker 1: Michael Haysey's the guy, and then I don't know Jerick McKinnon,
- 44:55Speaker 1: who literally Kyle Shanahan said had tired legs and they
- 44:59Speaker 1: were not going to use and then he gets twenty carries.
- 45:01Speaker 1: So it's one of the most unpredictable backfields. Everyone likes
- 45:05Speaker 1: to talk about the Patriots as like the worst team
- 45:08Speaker 1: for fantasy, but the forty Lands backfield is up there
- 45:11Speaker 1: for sure. So that's a that's a stay away from me, Simon.
- 45:15Speaker 1: Is that why I should be worried about betting the
- 45:16Speaker 1: forty Niners to win the NFC West. That's a bad
- 45:20Speaker 1: bet as is, but a smart bet if you love value.
- 45:23Speaker 1: Chad Um again, hear me out. I'm gonna say a
- 45:26Speaker 1: lot of crazy stuff in this preseason, but some of
- 45:28Speaker 1: it's gonna hit, believe me. H one Tray Lance, the
- 45:32Speaker 1: one m v P Are you with me, Chad one?
- 45:36Speaker 1: So I'm literally it sounds crazy, but I did it
- 45:38Speaker 1: with r G three who fun fact, Kyle Shanahan was
- 45:41Speaker 1: his O C and r G three I believe came
- 45:45Speaker 1: third and voting. He won Rookie the Year but became
- 45:47Speaker 1: third m VP votes, So I had a nice little
- 45:49Speaker 1: hedge opportunity at a hundred of one R three year
- 45:52Speaker 1: he made that run, so h one tray Lance because
- 45:55Speaker 1: again I think people are drinking the Jimmy G kool aid.
- 45:59Speaker 1: Everything I read it out of nins camp, it sounds
- 46:02Speaker 1: like tray lance. He's leading the race right now in
- 46:05Speaker 1: that QB battle, So I think you're getting really good
- 46:07Speaker 1: value there. One I'm in Simon, give me ten gis
- 46:12Speaker 1: at a hundred and twenty one on tray Lance to
- 46:16Speaker 1: an m v P, I am all in our friend.
- 46:21Speaker 1: Is anybody going to bet on the Hall of Fame game? Yeah,
- 46:27Speaker 1: so I just checked Vandel then put it up yet.
- 46:30Speaker 1: But I love doing like first half bets and it's
- 46:33Speaker 1: mainly based on the quarterbacks. So I just saw Mason
- 46:36Speaker 1: Rudolph will be the starting quarterback for the Steelers against
- 46:39Speaker 1: who cares for the Cowboys? Like whoever is the backup
- 46:41Speaker 1: the Cowboys? I promise you's gonna be worse than Mason Rudolph.
- 46:44Speaker 1: So I'm gonna be taking Steelers first half. The line's
- 46:47Speaker 1: on up yet, but whatever the number is, I'll be
- 46:49Speaker 1: taking Steelers first half. We already know we're going in
- 46:52Speaker 1: on Steelers first half, first bet of the year. I
- 46:56Speaker 1: wonder what Mike Tomlin is going to say about that.
- 46:59Speaker 1: I love the foss enthusiasm. I MTUs see if we
- 47:01Speaker 1: can make what of you guys quit today. It's good
- 47:03Speaker 1: to be back, Samantha. Are you gonna Are you gonna
- 47:05Speaker 1: pay any attention to the Hall of Fame game? Probably not.
- 47:09Speaker 1: I don't even think we're gonna see DC Prescott now.
- 47:12Speaker 1: So I think that was a big storyline was that
- 47:15Speaker 1: that was the first time we were going to see
- 47:16Speaker 1: him after he had a mangled ankle, so it was
- 47:19Speaker 1: going to be at least something. But we're not going
- 47:21Speaker 1: to see him, and they're probably just not gonna play
- 47:23Speaker 1: a lot of the first team guys. So for fantasy purposes,
- 47:26Speaker 1: I'm not interested. Um for betting purposes, I guess bet
- 47:29Speaker 1: the first half way to go. Now, Samantha is all in.
- 47:32Speaker 1: We got a group, are going, Matt Mitchell's gonna come
- 47:34Speaker 1: into We're all gonna bet the first half. We're gonna
- 47:37Speaker 1: bet the Steelers. We don't care what the number is.
- 47:39Speaker 1: We're gonna be Mason Rudolph Fans. All right. This has
- 47:43Speaker 1: been the Favorites from the Volume Podcast Network. We will
- 47:48Speaker 1: be back on Thursday, me and Simon Hunter. We're gonna

- 47:57Speaker 1: will be doing in August. You can catch it all
