- Brandon Dirmann: Well, welcome once again to another episode of the Daily Word Podcast. Whoever you are and wherever you're listening from today, we are thrilled to have you join us on the podcast. And in case you're a new listener or you just haven't gotten it by now, the whole goal of this podcast, it's twofold. Number one, we want to encourage you and our prayers that you would leave every single day, even though we're only taking, you know, 10 minutes that you leave encouraged. and that you have something that God speaks to you to encourage you, put in your pocket, help you to practically apply to your life to be more of who God's called you to be and do the things that God's called you to do. Secondly, wanna provide encouragement to you and a reminder that God wants to meet with you daily and deeply. It's not the scripture for the day. So forgive me for giving you multiple scriptures, but 2 Timothy 3, 16 through 17, the apostle Paul goes, the Bible is powerful. It's got so many uses and all of it is to thoroughly equip the man or woman of God to do the good works God has intended. our prayer is that you leave in courage, but also you're reminded you can go spend time with God for yourself in a meaningful and a deep way. And I'm praying that you're doing that. We do take time every day and we're using the Life Journal reading plans, the reading plan that we use as a church community. to be able to stay unified in our studies so we can keep talking and encourage each other and share insights that maybe someone else didn't get and it's awesome. We're taking the New Testament portion from that reading plan rather and every day taking time to share it on this podcast. So that being said, today is April the 15th and we're in Matthew chapter two today. And again, you're going to have to forgive me. We're using the soap scripture observation application prayer method. But I will tell you, I don't know if this is going to get me kicked off the podcast. If so, farewell. This is my last episode. I'm kidding. No one's kicking me off the podcast. I don't think I hope not. But, ⁓ a lot of times I'll get more than one scripture and it is a scripture or a passage. It's a thought, but I see it in a whole different. or a whole bunch of scriptures throughout the text that I'm reading. So I'm going to give you a bunch of scriptures today, all in Matthew chapter two. They're all highlighted in pink in my Bible because my Bible is very colorful. I love highlighting and doing that. So all of these scriptures are in pink because they're kind of, you know, they're all together. That being said, Matthew chapter two, let me read you just kind of jump around. Verse 12 says this of Joseph, then being divinely worn in a dream. Sorry, not of Joseph, but of the three wise men. Then being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country and other way. So there's one, divinely warned in a dream. That's the first time. Okay, here's number two, verse 13. Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, arise, take the young child and his mother, flee to Egypt and stay there until I bring word to you. for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him." There's number two. Ready for this? Number three, verse 19. Then Herod was dead, or when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying, arise, take the young child and his mother and go to the land of Israel for those who sought the young child's life are dead. Now here we go. Number four, verse 22, and being warned by God again. in a dream, he turned aside into the region of Galilee. I'm going to keep violating the rules here. My apology. Let me backtrack backwards. Matthew chapter one, yesterday's reading. Joseph, verse 20, but while he thought about things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a, you guessed it, a dream. Here we have five times. five times in the course of two chapters, five times, two chapters, that God speaks, four of them are Joseph, one of them are the wise men, but God speaks to people in a dream, showing them something they could not see, they did not know, and he's either warning them or giving them instruction to preserve their life. That's a good insight because Proverbs 14 12 says this, there's a way that seems right to a man, but the end road is death and destruction. Proverbs 14 12. There's a way that seems right to a man, but the end road is death and destruction. And here's my observation and I'll give you application at the same time. My observation is that there are things in life we just can't see coming. Come on. We've all experienced that. We've all experienced seasons of life where we're like, ⁓ my gosh, I never saw that coming. I didn't know that was gonna happen. I would have never guessed in a million years that fill in the blank. And yet here it is, it happened, we're in the middle of it. And here's what I know, we serve a God who God is not limited to space and time. God knows all things. He is and He knows the beginning to the end. God knows all things. And we serve a God that if we will let him, he'll speak to us, he'll talk to us, he'll warn us, he'll give us instruction, he'll guide us, he'll lead us, he will help us to maybe avoid or maybe be prepared for, but in whatever the case, he'll help us to live a life that is safe and secure. ⁓ I just thought of this. That's what Proverbs says. Proverbs says that he who will take heed to God's words, will live a life safe and secure without the fear of destruction. And my observation and application is that I would recognize, but we would recognize, we don't know everything. Read Matthew chapter one and chapter two and look how through these two chapters, five different times, God reveals to people, mainly Joseph, but to people in a dream, hey, this is gonna happen, so I need you to do this. Hey. This is coming up, so I need you to do this. Hey, this is how things are going down. So I'm gonna need you to, and he's revealing to them. He's speaking to them. He's giving them instruction to help them avoid danger and disaster. And can I just say in the same way, we serve a God who still speaks today. I don't know why. I feel so passionate in this moment, even recording this podcast. God still speaks today. And my goodness, God loves us and God is for us and God only desires good things for us. And he's desperately trying to get our attention. He wants to speak to his people and show them things they cannot see. Tell them things they do not know. Give them instruction that does not make sense, but it is protecting them and preparing them for what lies ahead. And so what's the application? that we need to every day live sensitive to and leaning into to hear the voice of God. I'll just quickly tell you in the very brief time we have remaining, I just walked through a situation where God, he revealed something to me in a dream that was, it was specific in a way that I can't even articulate like how specific and detailed it was. And God showed me something in a dream. He showed me something. And I'm like, I don't really know if that's God. I don't really know. And I was fearful. I didn't take it seriously. And I didn't do what I felt like God was telling me to do. Fast forward the tape, six weeks, a month and a half, exactly to a T what God showed me in a dream happened. And I had made the wrong decision. And I found myself in a circumstance that I'm like, ⁓ man, God was trying to protect me from this. God was trying to preserve me and help me out of this, but I didn't listen and I didn't obey. So what do we do? We have to listen and obey the voice of God. It starts in the scripture, but it continues in prayer and saying sensitive before God. And if we will listen to God and obey his voice, we will live a life that is protected, not immune, but protected and preserved and prepared for all that lies ahead. So my encouragement to say is that God loves you. And God knows what's coming. Like he knows what's coming. He loves you and he knows, therefore let us listen to the voice of God. Take heed to it and be obedient to his voice for God will lead and guide his people if they will listen. Lord Jesus speak to your people. When we take heed to your word, we'd be serious about your voice and when we listen and obey and as we do thank you that as we do, we can trust you that we will live protected. preserve and prepare for all evil and all difficulty that lies ahead in Jesus name. And God's people said amen and amen. Man, I hope that was encouraging to you. I feel encouraged and stirred up even just doing the podcast today. And I'm praying that it was a blessing to you.
