Latest / NFL Now / Dak Prescott in Practice, Saints-Cardinals Preview, Bo Jackson & Todd Gurley Joins The Show
Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. Also coming up, Todd Gurley has
- 0:18Speaker 1: been tweeting a lot, thanking people randomly like running backs
- 0:23Speaker 1: from the past. Is there any hidden meaning? The former
- 0:26Speaker 1: Ram is set to join us on this hour a
- 0:29Speaker 1: game day here on NFL Now on NFL Network from
- 0:31Speaker 1: our news room in Los Angeles. My name is ANDREWS. Ceciliano.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Let's get to the Cowboys. Deleted off here because we
- 0:37Speaker 1: have not seen Dak Prescott on a football field for
- 0:41Speaker 1: real since Week number one when he injured that thumb
- 0:46Speaker 1: against the Bucketeers. Cooper Rush has been the guy since then.
- 0:49Speaker 1: This is Dak earlier today, running out of the building
- 0:53Speaker 1: at the Star and onto the field. He seemingly, I
- 0:57Speaker 1: say seemingly is ready to go. You know, number one,
- 1:02Speaker 1: his leadership, bill, the personality is top notch, off to charts.
- 1:08Speaker 1: So I mean that that energy definitely has been felt
- 1:12Speaker 1: without a doubt. So I mean that's you know, anybody
- 1:15Speaker 1: knows Dak, or has been a teammate of his, you know,
- 1:18Speaker 1: understands the energy that he brings, you know, each and
- 1:21Speaker 1: every day. So that's that's definitely been evident. Brings energy
- 1:25Speaker 1: each and every day and hopefully brings energy on Sunday
- 1:28Speaker 1: against the Lions. Jane Slater there live at the Cowboys.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Brian Bouldinger with us as well. Hello to you both.
- 1:34Speaker 1: We saw Dak running out of the building. Jane, football
- 1:37Speaker 1: in hand, We see anything else. That video that you
- 1:41Speaker 1: just saw, Andrew is the extent of what we saw.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Let me pull the curtain bat for you a little bit.
- 1:45Speaker 1: The open portion available to the media is roughly thirty
- 1:48Speaker 1: minutes long, and we waited around because we want to
- 1:51Speaker 1: see Dak. Thursday was a big day for him. Yesterday
- 1:54Speaker 1: was a walk through. It was our understanding through about
- 1:57Speaker 1: forty balls, so he was on a pitch count. Mike
- 1:59Speaker 1: McCarthy said he would have thrown over a hundred if
- 2:01Speaker 1: they had let him. And then today was the big day.
- 2:03Speaker 1: In other words, he was gonna get most of the
- 2:05Speaker 1: reps with the ones, but we were not privy to
- 2:07Speaker 1: that yet. Again, last week they played with us a
- 2:09Speaker 1: little bit. He was only throwing with that left hand,
- 2:11Speaker 1: and then he was listed as questionable out of the
- 2:14Speaker 1: Eagles game and looked sharp out there listening to his teammates.
- 2:17Speaker 1: The ball has got pop and zip So the big
- 2:20Speaker 1: thing right now, you heard Mike McCarthy talk about it
- 2:22Speaker 1: in our last hour. The medical clearance is one thing,
- 2:25Speaker 1: but they've really been slow playing the injuries around here.
- 2:28Speaker 1: In other words, when you come back from an injury,
- 2:30Speaker 1: they want to make sure you don't go back on
- 2:32Speaker 1: the injured list. What stands out for us right now,
- 2:35Speaker 1: at least what we saw today was that he had
- 2:37Speaker 1: little limitation on that thumb. In other words, I didn't
- 2:40Speaker 1: see that he had a brace on there, which is
- 2:42Speaker 1: what we had saw before, which just lightly bandaged. He
- 2:44Speaker 1: was high five in the teammates. He was gripping Ezekiel
- 2:46Speaker 1: Elliott with a little bit of a handshake there. So
- 2:49Speaker 1: the the expectation of what we anticipate is that he
- 2:52Speaker 1: is going to play on Sunday. I just can't really
- 2:55Speaker 1: tell you how he looks, and neither can any other
- 2:57Speaker 1: media members, So we'll have to rely what we're hearing
- 2:59Speaker 1: from Mike McCarthy and of course his teammates. You know, Jane,
- 3:02Speaker 1: when I watched the Cowboys with Dak up until last
- 3:06Speaker 1: week's lost to Philadelphia, they had really done two things
- 3:10Speaker 1: I think that they should do with Dac when he
- 3:12Speaker 1: comes back this weekend is emphasized the run and commit
- 3:15Speaker 1: to it and they've been good at it. And then secondly,
- 3:18Speaker 1: they protected Cooper Rush very well prior to last week.
- 3:21Speaker 1: He was at three times in four games, and it
- 3:23Speaker 1: was max protection, it was play action. They did a
- 3:26Speaker 1: lot of things to protect Cooper Rush, and I feel
- 3:29Speaker 1: like they should take a big page of that with
- 3:31Speaker 1: Doc this week. Like, I know, he can scan the
- 3:33Speaker 1: field and he could go through progressions and he's very
- 3:36Speaker 1: good at all that. But I don't think that should
- 3:38Speaker 1: be the game plan. I think they should stick with
- 3:40Speaker 1: what worked with Cooper and just you know, Dac will
- 3:43Speaker 1: just be more accurate and get the ball out a
- 3:45Speaker 1: little bit faster and all those things Hatfield reads. I
- 3:49Speaker 1: think that would be really good to kind of break
- 3:51Speaker 1: that in after this absence over the last six weeks.
- 3:54Speaker 1: And it would also be good if he has all
- 3:56Speaker 1: his weapons to throw to, whether it's Cee Lamb or
- 3:58Speaker 1: Dalton Schultz. They're dealing with injuries as well, Jane, what's
- 4:01Speaker 1: their story? Yeah, and Dalton Salts is been dealing with
- 4:05Speaker 1: a knee situation. So today was supposed to be a
- 4:07Speaker 1: big day of practice for him, see how he feels.
- 4:10Speaker 1: But look, if they don't have Dalton Schultz, they've really
- 4:12Speaker 1: been benefiting from the play of their two rookie tight ends,
- 4:14Speaker 1: both Peyton Hendershot and Jake Ferguson. So we'll see what
- 4:18Speaker 1: that looks like. But we've seen in the path the
- 4:19Speaker 1: reason why he got that franchise tag was because he
- 4:22Speaker 1: was a bit of a security blanket for Dak. Justice Cooper, Russian,
- 4:25Speaker 1: Noah Brown have this amazing chemistry, so to do Dalton
- 4:29Speaker 1: and Dad. As for Cney Lamb, he tweeked his hip
- 4:32Speaker 1: a little bit in practice. Um, but it sounds like
- 4:34Speaker 1: he's expected to play on Sunday. They're just being a
- 4:36Speaker 1: little careful with them. But to Baldi's point, he should
- 4:39Speaker 1: have a full compliment of weapons this week. I think
- 4:42Speaker 1: the key for him though, and he's even talked about
- 4:44Speaker 1: this being on the sidelines. The game has slowed down
- 4:47Speaker 1: a little bit for him. I think it's interesting both
- 4:48Speaker 1: he and Aaron Rodgers are talking about this. Simplify the offense,
- 4:52Speaker 1: go back to the basics what worked for Dak Prescott
- 4:54Speaker 1: and his team in the past. Run the ball. It
- 4:56Speaker 1: wasn't always easy to do that when you looked at
- 4:58Speaker 1: that offensive line, but the offensive line is communicating really well.
- 5:02Speaker 1: I think these guys are really jelly together, and this
- 5:04Speaker 1: is a different offen us in what we saw in
- 5:06Speaker 1: week one. I just think the rhythm and timing for
- 5:08Speaker 1: DAC is going to be the big thing and it
- 5:10Speaker 1: should help. And I'm not saying this is a trap
- 5:12Speaker 1: game because we've talked to Mike McCarthy about this. It
- 5:15Speaker 1: should help that this is a team like the Detroit Lions,
- 5:18Speaker 1: who are one and four and have a host of
- 5:19Speaker 1: injuries heading into this game, and it's a home game.
- 5:23Speaker 1: You know, Jay, the one thing about Dalton Schultz being
- 5:26Speaker 1: out of the lineup for a couple of games is
- 5:28Speaker 1: you saw the rookie tight ends. I mean this Jake
- 5:30Speaker 1: Ferguson isn't all around tight end. I mean he can
- 5:33Speaker 1: really block at the point called a touchdown past last
- 5:36Speaker 1: week and that when they try to make that surge
- 5:38Speaker 1: and come back in the fourth quarter. Uh. Peyton hender
- 5:41Speaker 1: Shot has been excellent when they've asked him to block
- 5:44Speaker 1: um in his role as a limited receiver, but he's
- 5:47Speaker 1: a big target, big huge target. Like both those guys
- 5:50Speaker 1: have been impressive and they've been a big part of
- 5:52Speaker 1: the run game. And I think both of them can
- 5:54Speaker 1: pick it up in the passing game too, So whether
- 5:56Speaker 1: Dalton goes or not, I think the Cowboys are in
- 5:59Speaker 1: pretty good shape at that position as they faced the
- 6:02Speaker 1: Lions here, and Mike McCarthy admitted, as Jane kind of
- 6:04Speaker 1: mentioned there, that this is an unfamiliar opponent, so there's
- 6:07Speaker 1: a lot going on trying to get dat back, the
- 6:09Speaker 1: rhythm back in the offense, trying to find a foothold
- 6:11Speaker 1: play calling against the team they do not see very often.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Jane Slater, Brian Baldinger, thank you both now for tonight's
- 6:20Speaker 1: game Glendale State Farm Stadium. Yeah, a couple of teams
- 6:24Speaker 1: trying to get even in the winding column with the
- 6:26Speaker 1: first placed team in their respective divisions, the two and
- 6:30Speaker 1: four Saints the two and four Cardinals. A lot of
- 6:34Speaker 1: different storylines in this one, including the injuries and including
- 6:39Speaker 1: the quarterback situation. Let's go live to Glendale now, Mark
- 6:43Speaker 1: Ross with me as well, omar Ruise live on the field.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Tell me about the thing with the quarterback and the
- 6:49Speaker 1: Dennis Allen and trying to figure out who's playing tonight,
- 6:51Speaker 1: Olmar Yeah, Dennis Allen not naming publicly a starting quarterback
- 6:57Speaker 1: of course, it is Andy Dalton who started the past
- 6:59Speaker 1: three games while Jamis Winston has been banged up. And
- 7:02Speaker 1: if you're reading in between the lines, which is what
- 7:04Speaker 1: we do here, Andrew Andy Dalton was the quarterback that
- 7:08Speaker 1: met with the media this week. Since Dalton took over
- 7:11Speaker 1: as the starter three weeks ago, he's thrown for fewer
- 7:14Speaker 1: interceptions than Jamis did. He's also taken fewer sacks than
- 7:17Speaker 1: Winston did. Since Dalton has been starting the past three games,
- 7:21Speaker 1: the Saints have led the league in rushing. So no
- 7:24Speaker 1: matter who is playing tonight, expect the heavy dosage of
- 7:27Speaker 1: Alvin Kamara and possibly Taysom Hill. But Dalton saying that
- 7:31Speaker 1: there's still one and two in these three games. As
- 7:33Speaker 1: much as those numbers might look good, he says a
- 7:36Speaker 1: key to getting winning football is doing better in the
- 7:39Speaker 1: red zone. He's out sided the one for five statistic
- 7:42Speaker 1: against the Bengals on Sunday, relying on Will Lutt's four
- 7:45Speaker 1: field goals instead of punching it in. That will be
- 7:48Speaker 1: the key tonight. If they can score touchdowns rather than
- 7:50Speaker 1: relying on those field goals, mark the key tonight as well.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Here Mark for the Cardinals um getting DeAndre Hopkins back
- 7:59Speaker 1: here finding a way to fix this offense. Is he enough?
- 8:03Speaker 1: I mean, people in Arizona are certainly crossing their fingers
- 8:07Speaker 1: that this is like the turning of the tide here. Offensively, well,
- 8:12Speaker 1: let's start with the positives, Andrew. When Kyler Murray plays
- 8:16Speaker 1: with DeAndre Hopkins, when the DeAndre Hopkins plays Kyler Murray,
- 8:19Speaker 1: all his metrics are better, and the Cardinals record is better.
- 8:23Speaker 1: And it should be no doubt that DeAndre Hopkins does
- 8:26Speaker 1: give some confidence for the offense and for Cliff Kingsbury
- 8:30Speaker 1: and for Kyler Murray, and his production should be better
- 8:34Speaker 1: than what has been there except Hollywood Brown is out.
- 8:37Speaker 1: But if the expectation is just for DeAndre Hopkins to
- 8:41Speaker 1: come in here and the whole offense is solved, I
- 8:44Speaker 1: think that's foolish of the Cardinals and the whole organization
- 8:47Speaker 1: to feel like he's the savior of everything. As you mentioned, Andrew,
- 8:51Speaker 1: this offense is not just average or or struggling a
- 8:54Speaker 1: little bit. I mean they're the worst in the league,
- 8:56Speaker 1: only have scored three points in the first quarter this year,
- 8:59Speaker 1: and the worst scoring offense in the first half in
- 9:02Speaker 1: the entire NFL. Of course, we've seen them scramble the
- 9:05Speaker 1: to four points of the second half to get back
- 9:06Speaker 1: into games. But there's something broken with the game planning
- 9:10Speaker 1: and the preparation that they're so bad in the first
- 9:13Speaker 1: quarter and the first half of games. And just to
- 9:15Speaker 1: expect DeAndre Hopkins to come in there and say everything
- 9:18Speaker 1: is solved, I think it's not the right way to
- 9:21Speaker 1: do it. You have to come with better game planning.
- 9:23Speaker 1: You have to come with better preparation and a better scheme.
- 9:26Speaker 1: And when I looked at the offense, even when DeAndre
- 9:29Speaker 1: Hopkins was playing and they were playing well, it was
- 9:32Speaker 1: more so just Kyler go through out than DeAndre. There
- 9:34Speaker 1: wasn't a whole lot of ingenuity in that offense. So
- 9:38Speaker 1: I think we'll see some struggles, some more struggles by
- 9:41Speaker 1: this offense because DeAndre Hopkins, of course, it won't be
- 9:43Speaker 1: at full speed, at game speed, so I don't think
- 9:46Speaker 1: he'll be the savior. They will be a little bit better,
- 9:49Speaker 1: but I don't think we'll see a prolific Cardinals offense
- 9:51Speaker 1: right away. Give DeAndre Hopkins credit, though he had a
- 9:54Speaker 1: pretty cool I'm Back video with both el O pool
- 9:57Speaker 1: J and the Black Sheep that he tweeted about a
- 10:01Speaker 1: couple of hours ago. He's back from a six game
- 10:03Speaker 1: p E D suspension. Tonight of the Aar is out
- 10:05Speaker 1: of Cardinals. Thank you, Mark Ross, thank you Omar Rui's
- 10:08Speaker 1: also tonight. It's a pretty big night Taylor Swift album.
- 10:12Speaker 1: The new album drops at midnight Stop making faces, and
- 10:16Speaker 1: she has a special Paris and T and F play it.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Hey guys, it's Taylor. If you tune into the Thursday
- 10:22Speaker 1: night football game on Amazon Prime, I'm going to be
- 10:24Speaker 1: shown a first look at the secret projects that I've
- 10:27Speaker 1: been working on very hard for a very long time,
- 10:30Speaker 1: getting ready for the Midnight's album, and you would see
- 10:33Speaker 1: it before the Midnight's album came out. So meet me there.
- 10:39Speaker 1: I can't wait for the sneak peek at Midnight Midnight.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Well Andrew and all my wildest dreams. I didn't think
- 10:45Speaker 1: we'd start the segment like that. But let's get to
- 10:47Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson, who is on the protest field again today
- 10:50Speaker 1: with for the second executive day. Not out there when
- 10:53Speaker 1: the media was led onto the field, but came out
- 10:54Speaker 1: during individual drills. He was listed as limited on Wednesday
- 10:58Speaker 1: with a hip, did not give any indication in his
- 11:00Speaker 1: press conference Snorrey to coach John Harbot, it's anything to
- 11:03Speaker 1: be worried about those. Certainly, there's been a bunch of
- 11:05Speaker 1: little knicks that have popped up over the past couple
- 11:07Speaker 1: of years with Lamar, so always worth keeping an eye
- 11:09Speaker 1: on if there's any impact on his mobility. Perhaps more
- 11:12Speaker 1: notable on this day, no Mark Andrews and no JK.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Dobbins for a second consecutive day on the practice field.
- 11:19Speaker 1: They're both listed with knee injuries. Of course, Dobbins coming
- 11:22Speaker 1: off of that torn a c L and more that
- 11:25Speaker 1: he had last season. With Andrew's coach John Harbaugh had
- 11:28Speaker 1: categorized it as a rest day on Wednesday, But here
- 11:30Speaker 1: we are on Thursday. Neither of those guys on the field.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Keep an eye on that practice on Friday. If they're
- 11:35Speaker 1: still not out there, then that will raise real doubts
- 11:37Speaker 1: about their availability. All right. Meantime, in Green Bay, Aaron
- 11:40Speaker 1: Rodgers might have done something bad, you know, by saying
- 11:43Speaker 1: he needed to simplify the offense. Um speak now, garre
- 11:47Speaker 1: Folo about Roger's thumb. I don't know about you, Andrew,
- 11:51Speaker 1: but he's not feeling twenty two anymore. And so when
- 11:54Speaker 1: he gets these knicks. Sometimes you gotta manage them. He
- 11:57Speaker 1: didn't practice on Wednesday. Back out on the field on Thursday.
- 12:01Speaker 1: He's got some uh tape on his thumb, we're told,
- 12:05Speaker 1: but looks to be fine. Said on the Pat McAfee
- 12:08Speaker 1: show the other day that it was something that got
- 12:11Speaker 1: nicked up early in that Jets game, but he was
- 12:14Speaker 1: able to kind of play through it. And he was
- 12:15Speaker 1: getting hit so he put his hand out. So he
- 12:17Speaker 1: learned his lesson on that one. But there was no
- 12:20Speaker 1: bad blood, um, just a little bit of a bruise. Apparently,
- 12:27Speaker 1: this is ridiculous. I was gonna do something about like
- 12:32Speaker 1: cruel summer with the Niners and the quarterback situation, and
- 12:35Speaker 1: then transition to like Jimmy Garoppolo is the only one healthy,
- 12:38Speaker 1: tell me about the Niners. Let's let's let's get the
- 12:43Speaker 1: he he says he'll play, and there's every indication that
- 12:45Speaker 1: he'll play, and he's not that affective, more affected by
- 12:48Speaker 1: what the wide receivers are doing and what's happening up front.
- 12:50Speaker 1: But does this show re air today? Oh it doesn't,
- 12:55Speaker 1: I'm told, not anymore Tom Niner's injuries. Please, Oh, this
- 13:03Speaker 1: is a situation the forty Niners, no too well, andrew
- 13:06Speaker 1: another long list of injuries, but perhaps some reinforcements coming
- 13:09Speaker 1: here in the not too distant future. Trent Williams, their
- 13:12Speaker 1: left tackle, was just the past three games because of
- 13:14Speaker 1: a high achle sprain, was on the field on a
- 13:16Speaker 1: limited basis on Wednesday. This was really always the target
- 13:21Speaker 1: for Williams. Remember, they didn't put him on injured reserve,
- 13:23Speaker 1: which would have put him on the shelf for four games.
- 13:25Speaker 1: They believed he had an opportunity to get back before that.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Here he is back on the practice field. He's had
- 13:30Speaker 1: a high degree of pain tolerance throughout his career and
- 13:33Speaker 1: that would be a big boost that they try to
- 13:34Speaker 1: keep Jimmy Garoppolo clean moving forward. I mean while Nick
- 13:37Speaker 1: Bosa also back on the practice field on a limited basis.
- 13:40Speaker 1: He dropped out in Week five because of what Kyle
- 13:42Speaker 1: Shannon at the time called a tight groin, did not
- 13:46Speaker 1: play in Week six, not considered to be a significant injury.
- 13:50Speaker 1: The fact that he's out there and Williams will seem
- 13:52Speaker 1: to be trending in the right direction. We'll see what
- 13:54Speaker 1: that means in regard to their status for Sunday. You
- 13:58Speaker 1: continue in NFL now I feel like I'm watching Bo Jackson.
- 14:02Speaker 1: You're gonna be listening to bow Jackson, one of my
- 14:05Speaker 1: favorite people to ever play this or any game, set
- 14:09Speaker 1: to join us a Game Day edition NFL Now. Nothing
- 14:13Speaker 1: can stop me jack to the ball. Just a couple
- 14:26Speaker 1: of jack holding along, put off the bull tack and
- 14:35Speaker 1: look at him explode day second third at Hesitation des
- 14:41Speaker 1: clown later Oh Jackson cuts inside a checker at the thirty,
- 14:46Speaker 1: breaks away, checking around the hand, the ball off the
- 14:53Speaker 1: boar and carp bruckdown rinter. He's hitting all the way.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Stand check day outside for down killing your catching bow
- 15:04Speaker 1: jack ca He can run over Brian Bosworth just as
- 15:10Speaker 1: easily as he get hit a homer in an All
- 15:12Speaker 1: Star Game or climb a wall. He is quite simply
- 15:16Speaker 1: one of the greatest of them all. It is an
- 15:17Speaker 1: honor to have bo Jackson on NFL Now. But it's
- 15:21Speaker 1: good to see you. How are you? Good morning, Good morning?
- 15:24Speaker 1: How are you? I am doing well and I'm excited
- 15:26Speaker 1: as well because you're doing something this weekend. It's it's
- 15:29Speaker 1: all for charity. It's with Crown Royal. Bo knows cookouts
- 15:33Speaker 1: and barbecues and whooping de Marcus ware you're doing a
- 15:38Speaker 1: cook off with DeMarcus ware, Well, I don't fight anymore,
- 15:43Speaker 1: so I'm not gonna flip up on him. I'm just
- 15:46Speaker 1: hope hoping to just teach him a lesson. Teach him
- 15:49Speaker 1: a lesson to respect his elders, because, like I said earlier,
- 15:53Speaker 1: when I was a freshman at Auburn, DeMarcus was just
- 15:56Speaker 1: being born. And I know he has a lot of talent,
- 16:00Speaker 1: but I don't think being in the kitchen is one
- 16:02Speaker 1: of them. Um. Even though we will be competing against
- 16:06Speaker 1: each other this weekend, but we are there for a
- 16:08Speaker 1: bigger and better reason, and that is the raise funds
- 16:13Speaker 1: for the people that you don't get to see when
- 16:16Speaker 1: we're doing this cooking shows. These are the servers and
- 16:19Speaker 1: the people that prepare the food. Uh. We're raising dollars
- 16:25Speaker 1: and this is part of a one million dollar UH
- 16:29Speaker 1: raise that we're gonna do throughout the whole football season.
- 16:32Speaker 1: So even though DeMarcus and I are gonna have fun
- 16:37Speaker 1: jaw jack and at each other and uh putting out
- 16:40Speaker 1: some dishes that we hope don't make anybody sick, the
- 16:44Speaker 1: bigger part of this is putting some sunshine in somebody
- 16:48Speaker 1: else's cloud. It's twenty five dollars the Crown Royal Generosity
- 16:53Speaker 1: Fund to the Southern Smoke Foundations this weekend in Houston
- 16:57Speaker 1: this week. It is all for a very good cause,
- 17:01Speaker 1: very good cause. Please come out. I know both that
- 17:04Speaker 1: you have you of so many, so many interests in
- 17:07Speaker 1: so many charitable endeavors, and cycling all over the world
- 17:10Speaker 1: as well. Um, when you do watch football we're all
- 17:13Speaker 1: talking this morning, is there anyone that reminds you of you? Actually,
- 17:22Speaker 1: I hate to burst your bubble, but I don't watch it.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Actually I don't have time. But um, there's a couple
- 17:33Speaker 1: of people. There's a couple of people out there that
- 17:36Speaker 1: I watch whenever I do watch the news. Um, I
- 17:42Speaker 1: watched the running back from the Giants, say Kolan, Barkley
- 17:48Speaker 1: and Derrek, and those guys had what you had, which
- 17:53Speaker 1: was the rare combination of both speed and power exactly.
- 17:57Speaker 1: And those guys are a unique brand. It's great to see,
- 18:01Speaker 1: by the way, say Kwan back to his old rookie
- 18:03Speaker 1: form in eighteen and the Giants are five and one.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Do you think bow and I know you get this
- 18:08Speaker 1: a lot that we will ever see another legit two
- 18:12Speaker 1: sports star. I mean you're a pro bowler and you're
- 18:15Speaker 1: an All Star, right, I mean, you're in the Pro
- 18:17Speaker 1: Bowl and you hit a home runoff Rick Rushell and
- 18:19Speaker 1: Anaheim in an All Star game. You did it both.
- 18:21Speaker 1: But with the money and the time and the dedication
- 18:24Speaker 1: it now takes, will we see another one? I think
- 18:28Speaker 1: the talent tool is too deep for that. Um. I
- 18:34Speaker 1: think somebody trying to split their time right now and
- 18:37Speaker 1: trying to do sports is trying to do two sports
- 18:41Speaker 1: that probably end up riding the bench more than anything.
- 18:44Speaker 1: But who am I as saying? But I did it
- 18:47Speaker 1: during my day. These kids a whole lot bigger, stronger,
- 18:51Speaker 1: faster you. But you just never know. Bo. You and
- 18:55Speaker 1: I were on a stage in Miami couple of years
- 18:57Speaker 1: ago at an event before the Super Bowl, and the
- 19:00Speaker 1: issue the subject of tech Mobile came up for people
- 19:04Speaker 1: of my generation in our forties. You're laughing. We have
- 19:07Speaker 1: fond memories of college dorm rooms and playing tech Mobile.
- 19:11Speaker 1: You told me a story, Correct me if I'm wrong
- 19:13Speaker 1: that you have an old school Nintendo and the tech
- 19:17Speaker 1: Mobile cartridge somewhere in your house. You've ever opened them
- 19:22Speaker 1: nor played them? Is that true? That's absolutely That's one
- 19:26Speaker 1: time we sent through. Actually I'm saving it for my
- 19:30Speaker 1: grandson who is eighteen months old. Okay, and then you're
- 19:34Speaker 1: gonna teach him how to play tech Mo with I'm
- 19:38Speaker 1: gonna teach him how to play I'm gonna teach him
- 19:42Speaker 1: that is that is pretty pretty cool, bo Jackson. Um,
- 19:46Speaker 1: Can we end with like a fun game because like
- 19:49Speaker 1: the bow Nos campaign, we said archery and cycling? Can
- 19:51Speaker 1: I list a couple of things you tell me if
- 19:53Speaker 1: you know them at all these days? Okay? Okay, does
- 19:56Speaker 1: BO no? Yoga? Yes? Okay, does BO no? Pickleball no?
- 20:06Speaker 1: Does bow no? Word of No, does bow no? Game
- 20:14Speaker 1: of Thrones no? Does Bo no? The Marvel Universe yes? Okay,
- 20:23Speaker 1: well done? Anything else I'm missing? How does both spend
- 20:26Speaker 1: this time? Both spends this time like right now running
- 20:32Speaker 1: like a greyhound and it could be doing whatever right now?
- 20:35Speaker 1: I got. Right now, I am in my truck with
- 20:39Speaker 1: an investor and we're pulling my my boat you see
- 20:43Speaker 1: you at the back down to the custom Boat Company
- 20:47Speaker 1: to put a cover on it. And we're gonna leave
- 20:49Speaker 1: there and go get on a plane and go south
- 20:53Speaker 1: for the Crown Royal, for the Crown Real Generosity Fund. No.
- 20:57Speaker 1: But I'm not going there until Sunday morning. I'm getting
- 21:00Speaker 1: there early Sunday morning, doing it, and back on a
- 21:04Speaker 1: plane Sunday night to come back to Chicago. So when
- 21:07Speaker 1: I say I'm running like a greyhound, I'm running like
- 21:10Speaker 1: a gray bos travel And we appreciate your Bo Jackson.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Thank you very much, God bless well. The first book
- 21:19Speaker 1: sports book I've ever read. Dick Schapp Bo knows I
- 21:23Speaker 1: love that guy. And they love Bailey's Appy right now
- 21:26Speaker 1: in Foxboro. I mean, after what he did to the
- 21:28Speaker 1: Browns last week? Uh, is it Bailey Zappy's job on
- 21:32Speaker 1: Monday Night? Maybe if Mac Jones is available, Belichick, give
- 21:37Speaker 1: me something. Yeah, total trust in Mac and our conversations
- 21:43Speaker 1: the last couple of years. Um, but well, we'll see
- 21:46Speaker 1: how it goes. I don't know. We're not practicing today.
- 21:49Speaker 1: We're gonna, you know, get a jump on on the
- 21:52Speaker 1: Bears on some meetings and film work and things like that,
- 21:55Speaker 1: and then we'll practice tomorrow. So, um, we'll give you
- 21:59Speaker 1: the injury report tomorrow. You know how things are then.
- 22:01Speaker 1: But really it's nothing to talk about today. Patriots and
- 22:05Speaker 1: the Bears coming up on Monday Night. Mike GARDI higher
- 22:08Speaker 1: how are you, Mike writing about this entire Patriots quarterback
- 22:12Speaker 1: conundrum if if you think it is right now at
- 22:14Speaker 1: NFL dot com, And I think the more and more
- 22:18Speaker 1: we read the tea leaves, it isn't a conundrum. This
- 22:21Speaker 1: is Mac jones job right. No, it's never been a conundrum. Manager.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I know that some of the local beat writers and
- 22:27Speaker 1: of course talk radio have feasted on this and want
- 22:30Speaker 1: to see more Bailey's Appy. And look what Bailey's Appy
- 22:32Speaker 1: has shown you is been enticing. He's two and oh
- 22:34Speaker 1: as a starter, he's managed the football, He's made mostly
- 22:38Speaker 1: smart plays. He's been fairly efficient. But I've been talking
- 22:41Speaker 1: to the players on the team and even talking to
- 22:44Speaker 1: some guys behind the scenes and the coaching staff. They
- 22:46Speaker 1: feel like this offense can go to another level and
- 22:49Speaker 1: Mac Jones is the guy to take him to that level.
- 22:52Speaker 1: And I think you saw it in Week three against
- 22:53Speaker 1: the Ravens before he got hurt. In that game at
- 22:55Speaker 1: the tail end, yes, he threw three interceptions past sixty
- 23:00Speaker 1: nine percent conclution rate, and it looked like some of
- 23:03Speaker 1: the things that they had done a year ago were
- 23:05Speaker 1: coming back to light again this year, and that he
- 23:08Speaker 1: has a good handle on that he's got a bigger
- 23:10Speaker 1: arm than Zappy. Not a great arm, but a bigger
- 23:12Speaker 1: arm than Zappy. He is intelligent in the pocket and
- 23:15Speaker 1: he does make smart decisions. I think if you look
- 23:17Speaker 1: at the game plan, and that's part of what's featured
- 23:19Speaker 1: in this article is how they've managed Zappy max protecting
- 23:23Speaker 1: him fourteen percent of the time versus Mac four percent
- 23:26Speaker 1: of the time this year, uh five or more blockers
- 23:29Speaker 1: rather for Zappy of the time Mac had five blockers
- 23:33Speaker 1: only uh seventeen percent. It was something crazy like the
- 23:36Speaker 1: numbers are really tilted because they were trying to protect Zappy.
- 23:40Speaker 1: And you know what that speaks to the coaching staff,
- 23:42Speaker 1: the offensive uh collaboration if you will, that's what they
- 23:45Speaker 1: want to call it here, Matt, Patricia, Joe, Judge, Nick Keyley,
- 23:48Speaker 1: all the people that are involved. They've gotten better as
- 23:51Speaker 1: this year's gone along. And I think they've done a
- 23:53Speaker 1: better job with their quarterback in this second part here
- 23:57Speaker 1: of the season, and I think they'll do a better
- 23:59Speaker 1: part going forward with Yeah, that's the other part of
- 24:02Speaker 1: the story there. I'm glad you brought that up. All
- 24:03Speaker 1: the criticism of the summer and a training camp in
- 24:05Speaker 1: in September about the offensive coaching staff here they figured
- 24:08Speaker 1: it out the last couple of weeks with a pretty
- 24:11Speaker 1: raw quarterback who two years ago was playing at Houston Baptist.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Good read here, but Mike Gardy on the front page
- 24:17Speaker 1: of NFL dot com right now about the Patriots QB
- 24:19Speaker 1: situation as they get ready for the Bears on Monday night.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Thank you, Mike. The NFL has teamed up with Glad
- 24:26Speaker 1: for this special message now led by Buccaneers defensive end
- 24:31Speaker 1: Karl Masso. Today, we recognize that more than sev of
- 24:37Speaker 1: lgbt Q youth face discrimination todayday today, across the NFL,

- 24:54Speaker 1: we will be allies lgbt Q youth. We will stand
- 24:58Speaker 1: up for you and with you. We celebrate your spirit.

- 25:06Speaker 1: Join us by going purple to support lgbt Q youth
- 25:09Speaker 1: and take the Spirit Day Pledge at lad dot org,
- 25:12Speaker 1: slash Spirit NFL nowl and NFL Network. Coming up, We're
- 25:19Speaker 1: gonna talk to that guy Todd Gurley. We had Bo Jackson,
- 25:24Speaker 1: now we get Todd Gurley. It's a big running back
- 25:27Speaker 1: day on NFL. Now he's next. So you we came
- 25:31Speaker 1: to do both talking making major moves. How you watching NFL?
- 25:38Speaker 1: Now NFL that work. There are four teams on buys
- 25:40Speaker 1: this week like we had last week, the Bills, the Vikings,
- 25:44Speaker 1: the Eagles, and the defending Super Bowl champions the Rams
- 25:47Speaker 1: as well at three and three. They come back next
- 25:50Speaker 1: week and get the fortys. I want to talk about
- 25:51Speaker 1: the rant, but we'll get to that in a second.
- 25:54Speaker 1: I want to talk to this guy about everything else
- 25:56Speaker 1: he's doing in the world. It's great to have Todd
- 25:59Speaker 1: Gurley back on the program at three time Pro bowler,
- 26:03Speaker 1: first team All Pro. You know Todd's accolades. He's live
- 26:06Speaker 1: with us doing a Gatorade thing in Georgia. How are you,
- 26:09Speaker 1: Todd Andrew? How you doing man? I'm doing well. It's
- 26:12Speaker 1: great to have you on. But before we get to
- 26:14Speaker 1: everything else you're doing, and and and the Rams at
- 26:16Speaker 1: all helped me out because you set it out some
- 26:19Speaker 1: stuff on Twitter. They got me thinking you're ready to
- 26:22Speaker 1: make some big announcement here. You're thanking everyone on Twitter
- 26:25Speaker 1: that came before you, whether it's Willis mcgahey or Adrian
- 26:29Speaker 1: Peterson or Jamal Charles or C. J. Spiller or Jamal Lewis.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Were you just in this place where you needed to
- 26:37Speaker 1: show gratitude, Todd, Are you trying to hint that maybe
- 26:40Speaker 1: maybe you're calling it quits? Dude? Oh well, I don't
- 26:44Speaker 1: think there's any question about that one. But now, I
- 26:48Speaker 1: just wanted to show gratitude, man, because there's a lot
- 26:50Speaker 1: of guys that's on his Earth especially it's like all
- 26:53Speaker 1: alpha males. Man, we don't we don't show the love
- 26:56Speaker 1: that we're supposed to. So I just wanted to let
- 26:58Speaker 1: those guys know that I really appreciate dumbing for everything
- 27:02Speaker 1: that they've done, you know, for me, just from like
- 27:04Speaker 1: an inspirational level, just from watching those guys. Says I was,
- 27:09Speaker 1: you know, four or five years old, So I grew
- 27:11Speaker 1: up a big C. J. Spiller fan, obviously grew up
- 27:15Speaker 1: a Ravens fans, so guys like Jamal Lewis, Willis mcgahey.
- 27:18Speaker 1: So I just wanted to let everybody know, man, that
- 27:21Speaker 1: I really appreciate that game, appreciate everything that they've done
- 27:24Speaker 1: for me. And yeah, it was. It was just kind
- 27:27Speaker 1: of more just like in that spirit and just let
- 27:29Speaker 1: people know because we don't do that a lot. Man.
- 27:31Speaker 1: We don't beg each other up, we don't congratulate each other.
- 27:34Speaker 1: You know, we see each other post game and that's
- 27:36Speaker 1: pretty much it. But I just want to let everybody
- 27:38Speaker 1: know that, you know, I appreciate everybody. I think. It
- 27:41Speaker 1: was cool, I think and I left a lot of
- 27:43Speaker 1: guys off as well too, So you know, everybody, man,
- 27:47Speaker 1: even from the Gael sayers. We had a Georgia legend
- 27:51Speaker 1: passing away yesterday. So arrest in peace to Charlotte Trippy. Absolutely, um,
- 27:56Speaker 1: just to be clear, you said there's no doubt, so
- 27:58Speaker 1: you're done right, You're not coming back? Oh yeah, most definitely.
- 28:01Speaker 1: Alrighty years old, Todd. It was a great career, a
- 28:04Speaker 1: lot of it, obviously, those of us here in Los
- 28:06Speaker 1: Angeles where it first got to know you before that St.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Louis before um as well, remember your days, your glory
- 28:12Speaker 1: days here with the Rams. When you watch them, when
- 28:15Speaker 1: you see what's going on with cam Akers, I know
- 28:17Speaker 1: you guys really didn't play together. They drafted in a
- 28:19Speaker 1: couple of weeks after they cut you. What's going on there. Um,
- 28:24Speaker 1: I don't know, man, I don't really I still watch
- 28:26Speaker 1: the game, man, so I don't really know. But yeah,
- 28:30Speaker 1: I don't know, man, I don't know. Well, a lot
- 28:33Speaker 1: of it obviously is the offensive line issues with the injuries,
- 28:36Speaker 1: and if they can get healthy here over the by,
- 28:38Speaker 1: then maybe they can turn things around the NFC West.
- 28:40Speaker 1: What happens with injuries, man, Yeah, you know, that's that's
- 28:43Speaker 1: definitely a part. I know they they're probably down to
- 28:46Speaker 1: the third strain u A allignment right now, but you know,
- 28:50Speaker 1: you gotta get those guys a break. At the end
- 28:52Speaker 1: of the day. They just won a Super Bowlers, So
- 28:54Speaker 1: I mean, like, what more you know, can you ask
- 28:56Speaker 1: for out of them? And they're still doing great, man.
- 28:58Speaker 1: You know, they're still chipping away these wins. And I'm
- 29:01Speaker 1: sure coach McVeigh is going to do a great job
- 29:04Speaker 1: a find the way to win. You know, that's just
- 29:06Speaker 1: what they do. That's what he's been doing since he's
- 29:08Speaker 1: been there. So. Um, and they got Cooper Cup, Bro,
- 29:11Speaker 1: they're gonna be good, Aaron Donald, So they'll they'll be
- 29:14Speaker 1: just fine, no words, They'll be just fine when they
- 29:17Speaker 1: come back from the by, hopefully healthy here they get
- 29:19Speaker 1: the forty niners dined so far next week. Tell me
- 29:21Speaker 1: what you're doing, Todd there back at home in Georgia
- 29:25Speaker 1: with the Boys and Girls Club, Salvation Army and Gatorade. Yeah, yes, sir,
- 29:29Speaker 1: I'm here with Gatorade at the Salvation Army Bellwood Boys
- 29:32Speaker 1: and Girls Club to surprise the organization as part of
- 29:36Speaker 1: Gatorade Some Fuel Tomorrow initiatives, which aims to break down
- 29:40Speaker 1: barriers and bring equity and access to sports. You know,
- 29:43Speaker 1: so just being able to be here, We're gonna surprise
- 29:46Speaker 1: the kids with a grant that were covered the cost
- 29:49Speaker 1: of the flag football program, equipment and different types of fees.
- 29:53Speaker 1: So you know, it's just important for me to be
- 29:55Speaker 1: able to to come back to places like Georgia where
- 29:58Speaker 1: I went to school and been able to play right
- 30:01Speaker 1: down the street in Atlanta for a year. Man. So
- 30:03Speaker 1: to be able to just have his opportunity, um, and
- 30:06Speaker 1: you know, shout out to Gatorade to be able to
- 30:08Speaker 1: even do this so um. You know, that's just what
- 30:11Speaker 1: it's about. Man. Being able to give back to the community,
- 30:14Speaker 1: um and do it the right way. So in partner
- 30:18Speaker 1: with people, that's that that means well and you know
- 30:21Speaker 1: obviously we're in a competitive you know state right now.
- 30:25Speaker 1: But you know, I love Gatorade, man. So it's you know,
- 30:28Speaker 1: being with those guys and being able to change lives
- 30:31Speaker 1: throughout these last couple of years. Um. You know that's
- 30:33Speaker 1: what it's all said at doing at the end of
- 30:35Speaker 1: the day, forget the accolades, is about being able to
- 30:38Speaker 1: get back to the community, um, and you know, make
- 30:41Speaker 1: an impact. We start with gratitude, we end with giving back.
- 30:44Speaker 1: And I know you've always done that, whether it's in Baltimore,
- 30:47Speaker 1: whether it's in North Carolina, whether it's in Georgia, whether
- 30:50Speaker 1: it's in St. Louis or here in Los Angeles. Todd Gurley,
- 30:52Speaker 1: it's always good to have you on man. Hope to
- 30:54Speaker 1: talk soon. Take care of yes, sir Man, always great
- 30:56Speaker 1: talking to you. Stay safe and blessed man An all right,
- 31:00Speaker 1: my friend, be good, Todd Curley. They're alive with us
- 31:03Speaker 1: in Georgia. This is a live look in Arizona ahead
- 31:08Speaker 1: of tn FL in Prime video this evening. We got
- 31:10Speaker 1: the Saints, we got the Cardinals. We have weeks seven.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Everybody about to kick live onto the field at State
- 31:17Speaker 1: Farm Stadium. Omar uises they're getting ready for DeAndre hopkins
- 31:22Speaker 1: first game OMAR in three hundred and eleven days. Yeah,
- 31:27Speaker 1: and you have to go back to December of one,
- 31:30Speaker 1: last time DeAndre Hopkins was on the field December of
- 31:34Speaker 1: the last time he had more than a hundred receiving
- 31:36Speaker 1: yards in a game. He says he's coming back and
- 31:39Speaker 1: he feels he's still very much one of the top
- 31:42Speaker 1: receivers in the game. The fact that he didn't have
- 31:44Speaker 1: a game over a hundred yards last year was a
- 31:46Speaker 1: reflection of the team's success. Of course, the Cardinals were
- 31:48Speaker 1: eight and two in games he played in last year.
- 31:51Speaker 1: The Cardinals hoping for DeAndre hopkins presence will give them
- 31:55Speaker 1: off to a fast start. They're averaging fewer than five
- 31:58Speaker 1: points per game in first has this season, and that's
- 32:00Speaker 1: had them having to throw a lot. Cliff Kingsbury telling
- 32:03Speaker 1: me that's prevented them from the balanced offensively and utilizing
- 32:07Speaker 1: the run game the way they want to. They're also
- 32:10Speaker 1: getting Robbie Anderson potentially. Cliff Kingsbury yet to say whether
- 32:15Speaker 1: Robbie Anderson will play definitively or not. If he does,
- 32:18Speaker 1: it'll be a limited package. They want him to be
- 32:21Speaker 1: comfortable with his portion of the playbook and Kingsbury has
- 32:25Speaker 1: set precedent here. Back in twenty nineteen, his first season
- 32:28Speaker 1: as head coach of the Cardinals, they traded for Kenyan
- 32:31Speaker 1: Drake on a Monday. They played that Thursday against San
- 32:35Speaker 1: Francisco a short week. Kenyan Drake nineteen touches a hundred
- 32:40Speaker 1: sixty two yards and a touchdown. So they can get
- 32:42Speaker 1: anything close to that with Robby Anderson, that would be
- 32:46Speaker 1: a big win for the Cardinal Yeah, they would love it,
- 32:47Speaker 1: love to get that offense jump started tonight as well
- 32:50Speaker 1: against the Saints. However, they can find a way to
- 32:53Speaker 1: do it. NFL Now is a production of the NFL
