- 0:00Speaker 1: Discipline is the single most important thing that you can
- 0:06Speaker 1: use when it comes to being successful. They want an
- 0:09Speaker 1: easier answer. There has to be an easier way. There's not.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 0:13Speaker 2: I searched for it my entire life.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Motivation is fleeting. No one wakes up motivated every single day.
- 0:22Speaker 1: The key to success that you're looking for, the thing
- 0:26Speaker 1: that's going to make your dreams come true is simple discipline.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Every person needs to be their own hero. You need
- 0:35Speaker 1: to be the hero of your own story. Nobody's coming
- 0:38Speaker 1: to save you. Nobody's coming to help you.
- 0:41Speaker 3: And so I would copy the comic books and the
- 0:43Speaker 3: heroes and they had muscles and I was like, one
- 0:46Speaker 3: day I'm going to be like that.
- 0:47Speaker 1: You have to suffer a little bit. You have to
- 0:49Speaker 1: put yourself in a state of discomfort. Growth shouldn't be easy.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Stop looking for shortcuts. Stop looking to make things a breeze.
- 0:59Speaker 1: We're built to walk uphill. And when you reach the
- 1:04Speaker 1: pinnacle of the hill, you want to stop and appreciate
- 1:06Speaker 1: the vision. But the next thing you want is a
- 1:09Speaker 1: higher hill in the distance. You've got to learn to suffer.
- 1:12Speaker 1: You've got to put yourself in a bit of an
- 1:14Speaker 1: uncomfortable position. And if you can do that, then the
- 1:18Speaker 1: results that have eluded you, you'll start to see them.
- 1:21Speaker 1: There's no such thing as a free lunch. There's no
- 1:24Speaker 1: magic pill. And there are no three easy payments of $ 9. 99.
- 1:28Speaker 1: If you want something, if you want to be good
- 1:30Speaker 1: at something, you want to accomplish something, you've got to
- 1:33Speaker 1: put in the time.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Because without that work ethic, greatness cannot be achieved. So
- 1:39Speaker 3: you've got to really love what you're doing. You have
- 1:42Speaker 3: to just go at it wholeheartedly. You've got to put
- 1:45Speaker 3: everything into it. You've got to obsess over it.
- 1:48Speaker 1: If you want to be good at something, you've got
- 1:51Speaker 1: to do it every day. Like we look at people
- 1:53Speaker 1: like LeBron James. Why is he good at basketball? Because
- 1:56Speaker 1: he does it every day. You look at Wayne Gretzky
- 1:59Speaker 1: in hockey because he did it every day. And so
- 2:02Speaker 1: my number one piece of advice to people, if you
- 2:05Speaker 1: want to be good at something, whatever that thing that
- 2:07Speaker 1: you desire is, whatever your passion is, Do it every
- 2:11Speaker 1: single day. That's the real secret to success.
- 2:14Speaker 2: From 22 to 34, I worked every day.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I went out no weekends. I worked every day. Every day.
- 2:19Speaker 1: And if you want it, you want it. I wanted it.
- 2:23Speaker 1: So this idea of doing something every single day, just
- 2:27Speaker 1: do the thing every day and be 100% present. Focus
- 2:33Speaker 1: on the process. Don't focus on the end result. Again,
- 2:36Speaker 1: if you show up, if you're all in and do
- 2:38Speaker 1: that day after day after day, rewards will come. Don't
- 2:49Speaker 1: let your emotions control your actions or don't let your
- 2:53Speaker 1: feelings control your actions. Rather, let your actions control your feelings.
- 2:59Speaker 1: And so it's okay to feel bad. It's okay to
- 3:03Speaker 1: be depressed. It's okay to be sad. But don't act bad.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Don't act depressed. Don't act sad. Do something about it.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Failure, hell, disappointment, discomfort is a great learning tool. And
- 3:18Speaker 2: many people don't understand that. But it's these few moments
- 3:22Speaker 2: in life that you have. Like for me, I always
- 3:24Speaker 2: talk about it. Rocky won round 14. That one two
- 3:29Speaker 2: minute and 13 second clip of Rocky getting up when
- 3:34Speaker 2: Apollo knocked him down. That one clip, when I was
- 3:38Speaker 2: going through a very bad time in my life, I saw.
- 3:41Speaker 1: What I wanted to be.
- 3:42Speaker 2: And it wasn't a.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Guy that won.
- 3:44Speaker 2: It wasn't a guy that won everything he did. It
- 3:47Speaker 2: was a guy that kept getting up after being knocked down.
- 3:52Speaker 1: On those days where you don't want to get out
- 3:54Speaker 1: of bed, get out of bed. Go for a walk.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Nourish yourself. Do some exercises. Spend some time in the sun.
- 4:02Speaker 1: And it's amazing how those negative feelings turn around. So again,
- 4:08Speaker 1: don't let your feelings dictate your actions. Let your actions
- 4:12Speaker 1: dictate your feelings. When we're young, we think things are
- 4:17Speaker 1: just going to fall into our lap. We think opportunities
- 4:20Speaker 1: are going to be there forever. We think that it's
- 4:23Speaker 1: going to be our turn. But the reality is, You
- 4:27Speaker 1: need to work hard for it, and you need to
- 4:29Speaker 1: work hard for a really, really long time.
- 4:35Speaker 2: When I realized that I can learn, do hard work,
- 4:39Speaker 2: and I can beat the valedictorian in school, but I
- 4:42Speaker 2: got put in 10 hours more a day than he does.
- 4:45Speaker 2: You know what kind of strength comes from that? When
- 4:48Speaker 2: you're sitting down, that guy, that valedictorian study for an hour,
- 4:51Speaker 2: and you know I caught you.
- 4:53Speaker 3: I caught you, and I am.
- 4:57Speaker 1: But I have the work ethic to catch you.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Having a discipline every day to say, for me to
- 5:02Speaker 2: learn this one math problem, it's gonna take me 10 hours.
- 5:07Speaker 1: So don't lose faith. Don't get down on yourself. Don't
- 5:11Speaker 1: get depressed. Don't get sad. If you show up, if
- 5:16Speaker 1: you be the hardest worker in the room and you
- 5:19Speaker 1: do it for long enough, and I'm not talking even
- 5:22Speaker 1: months or years, I'm talking decades. I promise you that
- 5:26Speaker 1: your time will come. The second rule, be all in.
- 5:31Speaker 1: When you're here, when you're in a physical space, when
- 5:34Speaker 1: you're working out, I don't want your eyes on the TV.
- 5:37Speaker 1: I don't want you text messaging. I don't want you
- 5:40Speaker 1: playing on social media. I want you to be 100% present.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I want you to be all in and get the
- 5:47Speaker 1: most out of your time. Where I got my work
- 5:50Speaker 1: ethic from.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Was the hours I had to spend learning this.
- 5:55Speaker 1: I always tell people there's 168 hours in a week.
- 6:01Speaker 1: If you get eight hours sleep a night, Well, there's
- 6:04Speaker 1: 50 plus hours gone. You still have 110, 112 hours left.
- 6:10Speaker 1: If you work 60 hours a week, you still have
- 6:13Speaker 1: 55 hours left to go do what's important to you.
- 6:18Speaker 1: So I don't really buy the time excuse, but that's
- 6:20Speaker 1: the number one excuse that I hear. The number two
- 6:23Speaker 1: excuse is I don't know how, but we're fortunate. Like
- 6:27Speaker 1: people rip on social media. But we're fortunate to live
- 6:31Speaker 1: in a day and age where with the click of
- 6:34Speaker 1: a button, you have access to a wealth of information.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Whatever it is you're interested in, it doesn't matter. You
- 6:40Speaker 1: can find some good quality information with the click of
- 6:44Speaker 1: a button. So the whole, I don't know how, that's
- 6:47Speaker 1: not an excuse either. And those are the two most
- 6:50Speaker 1: common ones. What it really comes down to is people
- 6:53Speaker 1: just don't want it bad enough. Because I've seen countless
- 6:56Speaker 1: examples of people that will say they don't have time,
- 6:58Speaker 1: that say they don't know how, but when something becomes
- 7:01Speaker 1: important enough for them, they figure it out.
- 7:04Speaker 2: At the end of it all, if you can sit
- 7:06Speaker 2: back and wait, if you can wait 6, 7, 8, 9, 10,
- 7:09Speaker 2: 12 years, when you get to that point, when you finish,
- 7:14Speaker 2: that's the feeling for 12 years.
- 7:16Speaker 1: It says they wait 12 years to get there.
- 7:19Speaker 2: That's what keeps you going, is you've got to feel it.
- 7:22Speaker 2: I want, I'm doing it for one second.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Years of pain. For one second. Every minute matters. Five
- 7:31Speaker 1: minutes is better than no minutes. 10 minutes is better
- 7:33Speaker 1: than five minutes. 15 minutes is better than 10 minutes
- 7:36Speaker 1: and so on. And so every bit of work that
- 7:39Speaker 1: you can do will get you closer to your goal.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Don't give up. If you want something, if you're willing
- 7:47Speaker 1: to work for it, if you're willing to put in
- 7:50Speaker 1: an honest effort, if you're willing to show up every
- 7:52Speaker 1: day and you're willing to be all in, I promise
- 7:56Speaker 1: you again, it might not be tomorrow. It might not
- 7:59Speaker 1: be next week. It might not even be next year.
- 8:02Speaker 1: But I promise you 100% your time will come and
- 8:07Speaker 1: good things will happen. And far too many of us
- 8:12Speaker 1: give up before we see the rewards. We give up
- 8:17Speaker 1: too early. And if we just had a little bit
- 8:20Speaker 1: of perseverance, if we just worked a little bit harder
- 8:23Speaker 1: and just took it a day at a time, our
- 8:27Speaker 1: dreams would come true. So that would be my advice.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Don't give up.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Thank you.
