- 0:00Speaker 1: The Mark Simone Show, live from the WOR LifeVac studios.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Well, we've got a big hour for you. We've got
- 0:09Speaker 2: a lot to get to. Jimmy Fale will be with
- 0:11Speaker 2: us in a little while. And tomorrow, 9-11, the ceremony
- 0:16Speaker 2: will take place tomorrow. Heavy security. Everything below Canal Street,
- 0:21Speaker 2: streets will be closed. A lot of people coming to this,
- 0:25Speaker 2: so there will be extra security. beyond what we would
- 0:29Speaker 2: usually do on 9-11. Former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush,
- 0:33Speaker 2: Barack Obama, and Joe Biden are expected to attend. Joe Biden.
- 0:40Speaker 2: He's been suffering a lot lately with his cancer, but
- 0:45Speaker 2: he's expected to be there. We'll see. Former Secretary of
- 0:49Speaker 2: State Hillary Clinton, former First Lady Laura Bush expected to attend.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Michelle Obama, not on the list. What else does she
- 0:56Speaker 2: have to do? Who knows? Probably one of those ridiculous
- 0:59Speaker 2: podcasts that she does. This is, believe it or not,
- 1:04Speaker 2: the one-year anniversary of the assassination of Charlie Kirk. That
- 1:09Speaker 2: terrible day, which seems like a few months ago, but
- 1:13Speaker 2: it's one year ago today. Just an awful day that was.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Now, we're going to get to this 9-11 thing. That's
- 1:22Speaker 2: going to be a lot of traffic problems. It'll be
- 1:24Speaker 2: a major gridlock alert day tomorrow. And then, not next week,
- 1:31Speaker 2: but the week after, you're going to have a big
- 1:33Speaker 2: problem with that UN General Assembly. The UN General Assembly,
- 1:37Speaker 2: where all the world leaders come to New York, is
- 1:39Speaker 2: going to be an absolute mess. It's actually September 22nd
- 1:44Speaker 2: through the 28th. So it's six days. years of that,
- 1:48Speaker 2: six days of that stuff that you're going to have
- 1:50Speaker 2: to go through. Remember, it's not just around the UN.
- 1:52Speaker 2: These world leaders stay at hotels all over Manhattan. So
- 1:56Speaker 2: it's going to be all over the place. So I
- 1:59Speaker 2: got a really busy day today. I want to get
- 2:01Speaker 2: one thing after another. It's just all day long. So
- 2:05Speaker 2: I'm on the air now two hours. Every second I
- 2:07Speaker 2: get another text. Sorry, but I have to cancel today.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Every single thing I canceled, which is great. They send
- 2:16Speaker 2: these long texts apologizing. I'm so sorry. Please forgive me.
- 2:20Speaker 2: I have to move reschedule.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Great.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Great. I don't want to send back a big smiley face.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Thank God. Thank you for canceling. So U.S. Open continues. Now,
- 2:30Speaker 2: you know, they have this thing there where you pay
- 2:33Speaker 2: a lot of money for these tickets to the U.S.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Open.
- 2:35Speaker 2: You pay a fortune. And then you get in there
- 2:38Speaker 2: and they try to rob you every which way with
- 2:40Speaker 2: the concessions. You know, they have that honeydew melon, whatever
- 2:43Speaker 2: the hell that thing was. That's like a. drink that's
- 2:45Speaker 2: like 80 bucks and then they uh there's always one
- 2:48Speaker 2: new thing that takes off this year it's the 38
- 2:51Speaker 2: sandwich that people line up for they just can't wait
- 2:55Speaker 2: to get this is the hottest thing there this year
- 2:57Speaker 2: uh where is it here it's prime it's a prime
- 3:01Speaker 2: rib sandwich topped with onions aioli and provolone Can't get
- 3:12Speaker 2: that anywhere, except every 10 feet in New York. I
- 3:14Speaker 2: can think of 14 places on this block where you
- 3:16Speaker 2: could get that. I don't know why, but the prime
- 3:19Speaker 2: rib sandwich took off in the last couple of years.
- 3:22Speaker 2: And the French dip sandwich, every restaurant now, every restaurant,
- 3:26Speaker 2: French dip sandwich. It's very big. But that prime rib sandwich,
- 3:29Speaker 2: they got that all over the place. Speaking of food,
- 3:33Speaker 2: Carnegie Deli reopens next week. They say Tuesday. I'm going
- 3:38Speaker 2: to walk by there later and check and see how
- 3:40Speaker 2: it's going. But they're supposed to open maybe on Tuesday. Now,
- 3:46Speaker 2: a little local news here. Let's go to Huntington, Long Island.
- 3:50Speaker 2: This woman goes to a spa in Huntington, Long Island.
- 3:55Speaker 2: And she gets a massage. This is a big thing
- 3:59Speaker 2: with women, going to the spa. They have spa days.
- 4:02Speaker 2: They go to a spa. No man ever goes to
- 4:05Speaker 2: a spa. Once in a while you see a man there,
- 4:06Speaker 2: but he's only there looking for women. But she goes
- 4:10Speaker 2: to the spa, hunting in Long Island, getting a massage.
- 4:14Speaker 2: The masseuse, a guy from Syosset. Now look at the
- 4:18Speaker 2: picture of this guy. This guy looks like one deranged maniac.
- 4:21Speaker 2: He looks like Bill Murray playing an assassin. He looks
- 4:25Speaker 2: just deranged. But anyway, she's getting a massage when the
- 4:31Speaker 2: masseuse forcibly touches her in a spot you're not supposed
- 4:36Speaker 2: to touch. Well, it says the name of the spa.
- 4:42Speaker 2: It's on Walt Whitman Road. We don't even need to
- 4:44Speaker 2: mention it. He inappropriately touched the woman as she lay
- 4:46Speaker 2: on the massage table about noon, police say. So she
- 4:53Speaker 2: went to the massage. She didn't report it. She decided
- 4:56Speaker 2: not to call the police. I can understand. She didn't
- 4:58Speaker 2: want to be involved with the police. So she just
- 5:01Speaker 2: went home. Later that night on Facebook, the masseuse contacts her.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Looked up her. He knew the name. He knew where
- 5:10Speaker 2: she lives. He found her Facebook page and sent her
- 5:12Speaker 2: a message. In fact, apparently he was moving to a
- 5:17Speaker 2: new place to do massages. And, well, she got all
- 5:22Speaker 2: alarmed when he contacted her on Facebook. She called the police.
- 5:25Speaker 2: That's when the police showed up. They've arrested the guy.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Desk appearance ticket scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court.
- 5:34Speaker 2: You see, you get a little pushy. It's bad enough
- 5:36Speaker 2: to do what he did. but then you contact her
- 5:39Speaker 2: on Facebook really bad. Hey, yesterday, the big Apple show
- 5:43Speaker 2: where they unveiled all the new products. The new iPhone
- 5:47Speaker 2: is phenomenal. The new iPhone 18 pro, the most amazing
- 5:52Speaker 2: phone ever. They've got a battery in there that goes 39,
- 5:57Speaker 2: 40 hours. The battery can last almost two days. Unbelievable.
- 6:03Speaker 2: The camera, uh, The advancement on the camera is amazing.
- 6:08Speaker 2: The speed, all that stuff. They've hardened the case and
- 6:11Speaker 2: the glass. In fact, they say with this new iPhone
- 6:14Speaker 2: Pro 18, don't even need to put a case on it.
- 6:16Speaker 2: You can drop it all you want. Nothing will happen
- 6:19Speaker 2: to it. The new Apple Watch. That Apple Watch is
- 6:24Speaker 2: not very good at sleep tracking and some other things.
- 6:26Speaker 2: They're claiming they have fixed the sensor. The sensor on
- 6:30Speaker 2: the watch that's against your wrist is going to be
- 6:31Speaker 2: so advanced it'll track everything. The new Apple Watch looks
- 6:35Speaker 2: pretty good, too. The new iPhone, $ 1, 300. Now, the big
- 6:39Speaker 2: thing is the Duo. This is the foldable phone, where
- 6:42Speaker 2: it looks like an iPhone, then you fold it open,
- 6:44Speaker 2: and it's as big as a tablet, a mini tablet.
- 6:48Speaker 2: It seems kind of useless. In fact, most of the
- 6:51Speaker 2: reviewers that used it said it's great to unfold it
- 6:55Speaker 2: to get the big screen, but after a while, it's
- 6:57Speaker 2: kind of gimmicky, and they didn't really use it. If
- 6:59Speaker 2: you really need that, just get the mini tablet. Easy
- 7:02Speaker 2: to carry around. It's going to be expensive, that foldable phone.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Start at $ 2, 000, go to almost $ 4, 000. So all of
- 7:11Speaker 2: the products, you can go online, you can buy them now,
- 7:13Speaker 2: but they're not going to be delivered. I think the
- 7:16Speaker 2: watch will come a week from now. You can't order
- 7:20Speaker 2: the new phone yet. You can pre-order, but not really order,
- 7:25Speaker 2: because then they'll send you a note. It's complicated. On Saturday, then.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Then you can start ordering on Saturday. That's when you
- 7:32Speaker 2: can really order. So Mamdani and his crazy grocery store scheme.
- 7:37Speaker 2: It's the stupidest idea ever. It sounds good. I'm going
- 7:40Speaker 2: to open government grocery stores where everything will be 30% cheaper.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Sounds great. And the only problem is you're the government.
- 7:48Speaker 2: You haven't got a clue as to how to run
- 7:49Speaker 2: a grocery store. And you're not just the government. You're Mamdani,
- 7:53Speaker 2: who's not even experienced in government. He's brand new. He's
- 7:57Speaker 2: a kid. He's 34, never had a job. has no
- 8:00Speaker 2: clue how to run a grocery store, how to even
- 8:01Speaker 2: open a grocery store. He said it'll cost $ 30 million
- 8:05Speaker 2: for each grocery store. They're building a Wegmans over on
- 8:09Speaker 2: the Upper West Side. That's costing $ 2 million to build it.
- 8:14Speaker 2: They built these groceries. They built a beautiful Uncle Giuseppe's
- 8:18Speaker 2: in Greenvale, Long Island. It's magnificent, huge. You never saw
- 8:21Speaker 2: a grocery store so big. $ 2 million. Mamdani with his
- 8:26Speaker 2: little broken-down bodega, $ 30 million to open. It's ridiculous. But
- 8:30Speaker 2: the idea is you could sell things 30% cheaper. Well,
- 8:33Speaker 2: if you talk to all the big supermarkets in New York, Gristiti's, D'Agostino's,
- 8:37Speaker 2: you talk to all the big supermarket chains, they'll tell
- 8:41Speaker 2: you that they could sell everything 30% cheaper. Just like that.
- 8:46Speaker 2: They could do it tonight. All you have to do
- 8:49Speaker 2: is drop the property tax, drop the congestion pricing, drop
- 8:54Speaker 2: the property tax and all that, and help them with
- 8:58Speaker 2: their rent. And they'll make everything 30% cheaper. It's easy
- 9:02Speaker 2: to do. If grocery prices are high, it's because they're
- 9:05Speaker 2: paying massive property tax and high rent. So you just
- 9:11Speaker 2: do that. You got the problem solved. Everything's 30% cheaper
- 9:14Speaker 2: right then and there. You don't have to do it anywhere.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Pick the neighborhoods where you think you need a cheap
- 9:18Speaker 2: grocery store and just do it in those neighborhoods, on
- 9:21Speaker 2: those stores. And you'd save, whatever he's talking about, spending
- 9:25Speaker 2: $ 120 million on these grocery stores. They'll never happen. Now,
- 9:29Speaker 2: the next obstacle he's got, the National Supermarket Association is
- 9:35Speaker 2: now suing him. He was getting sued by the bodega owners.
- 9:39Speaker 2: They have an association. They were suing to block him. Now,
- 9:42Speaker 2: the National Supermarket Association has asked a judge to delay
- 9:47Speaker 2: the whole thing. There's a bidding process because it turns out,
- 9:50Speaker 2: as I said, Mom Donnie and the government, they've got
- 9:52Speaker 2: no clue how to run a grocery store. So they
- 9:54Speaker 2: put it out to bid government contracts, uh, by October 16th,
- 10:01Speaker 2: but the National Supermarket Association asking the judge to delay
- 10:06Speaker 2: the whole bidding process. Now, here's the other thing. If
- 10:09Speaker 2: you're a grocery store operator, are you going to bid
- 10:12Speaker 2: to run a Mamdani grocery store? Not going to be
- 10:16Speaker 2: a lot of profit in it. And you got to
- 10:18Speaker 2: deal with the government. That's one problem. Here's the other problem.
- 10:21Speaker 2: In this lawsuit, National Supermarket Association lawsuit, they have now
- 10:26Speaker 2: warned everybody they will sue any winning bidder. Whoever wins
- 10:31Speaker 2: the bidding, they will sue. They will sue for predatory pricing.
- 10:37Speaker 2: So I don't know if anybody's going to be bidding
- 10:39Speaker 2: so fast on that. Hey, we mentioned before Billy Joel,
- 10:43Speaker 2: who had stopped touring. He had some kind of medical problem. Well,
- 10:46Speaker 2: he's explained it was brain surgery he had a problem
- 10:50Speaker 2: in his brain he had brain surgery pretty serious stuff
- 10:55Speaker 2: uh he's recovering now uh here he is talking about.
- 10:58Speaker 4: It i'm doing physical therapy uh i'm doing whatever it
- 11:02Speaker 4: is they tell me to do because i don't want
- 11:05Speaker 4: to lose it you know so i'm always testing myself
- 11:08Speaker 4: and i know people have heard he's got a brain
- 11:10Speaker 4: disorder And I'm okay. I just want people to know,
- 11:14Speaker 4: don't worry about me.
- 11:14Speaker 2: I'm not going anywhere.
- 11:16Speaker 3: I'm here.
- 11:16Speaker 2: I'm still here. All right. So he got through the
- 11:18Speaker 2: hard part. It's physical therapy, a brain disorder. Hey, Bruce Springsteen,
- 11:23Speaker 2: we get that brain of yours checked. Maybe have somebody
- 11:27Speaker 2: take a look at it, just to be sure. Jimmy
- 11:29Speaker 2: Kimmel canceled again. Gone. That's it. This is the final season.
- 11:34Speaker 2: We're in a new TV season. He'll wrap it up
- 11:36Speaker 2: in May. He was on this week. Oh, is he angry?
- 11:42Speaker 2: He is more angry than ever. He was yelling and
- 11:45Speaker 2: screaming about Trump, vicious about Trump. I know it bothers you.
- 11:50Speaker 2: You know what? You should enjoy it. I actually kind
- 11:51Speaker 2: of enjoy it. It makes me feel good to see
- 11:54Speaker 2: him really upset, really miserable. He's supposed to be a comedian.
- 11:59Speaker 2: He's supposed to be a comedy show. It's late night TV.
- 12:02Speaker 2: He does what's called a monologue. It's jokes. You're supposed
- 12:04Speaker 2: to come out. The guy comes out angry, vicious. Imagine
- 12:09Speaker 2: you go to a comedy show or you put on
- 12:11Speaker 2: a comedy show. I'd like to have some laughs. Let
- 12:13Speaker 2: me put this on. The guy comes out snarling, angry.
- 12:17Speaker 2: You can see it in his eyes. He wants to
- 12:18Speaker 2: kill somebody. He's so angry. Hey, well, Jimmy Fallon will
- 12:22Speaker 2: be with us later this hour. He does the best
- 12:24Speaker 2: late-night show on television. We'll talk to him about it.
- 12:28Speaker 2: You know that Amazon jet, big whatever it was, 737,
- 12:33Speaker 2: crashed in Miami. It kind of missed the runway. It's
- 12:37Speaker 2: flying in and you're supposed to land at this part
- 12:40Speaker 2: of the runway. It went too far, landed like in
- 12:42Speaker 2: the middle of the runway, which doesn't give it enough
- 12:45Speaker 2: time to stop because you're going 180 miles an hour
- 12:49Speaker 2: on the runway. There's not enough runway left to stop
- 12:52Speaker 2: the plane. Now, what you're supposed to do if you
- 12:54Speaker 2: find yourself in that kind of crisis is don't land.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Pull up. Even though you're going on the runway, pull
- 13:00Speaker 2: up and take off again and go circle around and
- 13:03Speaker 2: come back. It's pretty embarrassing, but it's the safest thing
- 13:06Speaker 2: to do. Maybe once or twice you've been on a
- 13:09Speaker 2: plane where that happened. The pilot was landing, all of
- 13:11Speaker 2: a sudden pulled up again. Saw he didn't have enough runway.
- 13:14Speaker 2: So terrible, terrible pilot error. It ended up killing people. Now,
- 13:19Speaker 2: it turns out this Amazon plane, it was contracted out
- 13:23Speaker 2: to a company called 21 Air, North Carolina-based operator. And
- 13:29Speaker 2: they were operating these Amazon planes. And according to this story,
- 13:34Speaker 2: Numerous senior staff members had filed complaints against 21 Air.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Numerous whistleblowers had complained about their safety record, their standards,
- 13:46Speaker 2: saying something like this could happen. They feared a tragedy
- 13:49Speaker 2: like this would happen. Lots of whistleblowers, lots of complaints.
- 13:53Speaker 2: So this company looks pretty bad, but Amazon looks pretty
- 13:57Speaker 2: bad for hiring a bad company. And you're going to
- 14:00Speaker 2: see a lot of liability here. You're going to see
- 14:01Speaker 2: a lot of lawsuits filed. all over the place over this.
- 14:06Speaker 2: It's not going to stop. Hey, Chris Rock, you remember,
- 14:11Speaker 2: was it Will Smith? Who's the guy that got up
- 14:12Speaker 2: to punch him? Well, it says, Chris Rock says he
- 14:16Speaker 2: was doing another Oscar show where he was really going
- 14:19Speaker 2: after Jude Law, making jokes about him. And then later
- 14:23Speaker 2: he ran into Jude Law and it got pretty ugly,
- 14:26Speaker 2: pretty ugly. Law was very upset. He went a little
- 14:29Speaker 2: too hard on me and there was, It got ugly.
- 14:31Speaker 2: He said, we're fine now. But remember, he was not
- 14:35Speaker 2: having any of it. You know, the problem is it's
- 14:38Speaker 2: a different world now. Everything changed. You know, it used
- 14:41Speaker 2: to be you could make fun of anybody. Go watch
- 14:44Speaker 2: on YouTube. Go watch Don Rickles on The Tonight Show
- 14:46Speaker 2: or on Letterman.
- 14:48Speaker 3: Vicious.
- 14:49Speaker 2: It wasn't really vicious. It was joking. It's just jokes.
- 14:53Speaker 2: You make jokes about anything and everything and everybody. And
- 14:56Speaker 2: people laughed. But people are just sensitive now.
- 14:59Speaker 3: It's just.
- 15:00Speaker 2: It got too politically correct. People getting canceled. Everybody's just
- 15:06Speaker 2: too sensitive about jokes. Jimmy Fallon will be with us later.
- 15:09Speaker 2: We'll ask him about this. We'll ask him about Jimmy Kimmel.
- 15:12Speaker 2: We'll take some calls next. 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 15:20Speaker 5: 321-0710.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Mark Simone. Mr. New York.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Now three hours every weekday from 9 till noon on 710WOR.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Hey, we'll take some calls. Some new callers. We always
- 15:36Speaker 2: love new callers. If you haven't called before, give us
- 15:38Speaker 2: a call. 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 15:39Speaker 6: 800-321-0710.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Let's go to Richard in Bayshore. Richard, how are you doing?
- 15:50Speaker 6: I'm doing well, Mark. Good morning. Mark, if that $ 1. 35
- 15:55Speaker 6: trillion that Trump proposed spending on the $ 5, 000 per were
- 16:00Speaker 6: applied to Social Security, it would be secure for another
- 16:03Speaker 6: seven to eight years, even at an uncompounded rate.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:08Speaker 6: I think giving people $ 5, 000 apiece is probably inflationary. It's counterproductive.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Nobody's actually giving anybody $ 5, 000. You just say it in
- 16:18Speaker 2: a speech. It's like Biden forgiving student loans. It never
- 16:22Speaker 2: actually happens. You can't actually execute it.
- 16:23Speaker 6: Well, he actually tried. He tried awfully hard to ignore
- 16:26Speaker 6: the courts on that.
- 16:27Speaker 2: No, he didn't. He just pretended he was trying. He
- 16:30Speaker 2: didn't try at all. Let's go to Andrew in Newark. Andrew,
- 16:34Speaker 2: how are you doing?
- 16:36Speaker 7: Hey, Mark.
- 16:36Speaker 8: How you doing, man?
- 16:37Speaker 3: Good.
- 16:37Speaker 8: I wanted to say I really strongly disagree with you.
- 16:40Speaker 8: You just said that Mondami's Grocery Stores was the worst
- 16:44Speaker 8: idea in all of history.
- 16:46Speaker 2: I didn't say that. I never said anything like that.
- 16:48Speaker 8: You didn't say that it was the worst idea? No.
- 16:51Speaker 2: I said they were a terrible idea. I didn't say
- 16:53Speaker 2: the worst idea.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:54Speaker 8: I'm just saying, I think in all of history.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Well, you've got to stop with this all of history.
- 16:59Speaker 2: They're a dumb idea. I said they were a scheme
- 17:02Speaker 2: of dumb ideas.
- 17:02Speaker 8: Stop with the worst in history. There's got to be
- 17:03Speaker 8: at least 100 worst ideas in all of mankind. But yesterday,
- 17:07Speaker 8: the thing with the trial with Nancy, with the children. Huh? Yeah, yesterday,
- 17:15Speaker 8: we're talking about this woman called up. I couldn't believe it.
- 17:18Speaker 8: The trial with the woman that killed the children, Nancy
- 17:21Speaker 8: Clark or whatever.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Oh, the woman that killed the children.
- 17:24Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:25Speaker 2: You don't know her name? You're the only guy in
- 17:28Speaker 2: America that can't remember her name?
- 17:29Speaker 8: I don't understand.
- 17:30Speaker 2: You forgot her name?
- 17:32Speaker 8: You forgot the husband. You didn't know the husband's name
- 17:34Speaker 8: yesterday when this lady called in.
- 17:35Speaker 2: No, I didn't know the husband's name. All right. Well,
- 17:39Speaker 2: thanks for mixing this up here. Let's go to Philly. Philly,
- 17:43Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 17:47Speaker 3: Mark?
- 17:48Speaker 2: Yeah, who's this? Is this Philly?
- 17:49Speaker 9: Yeah, this is Rich from Philadelphia.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Oh, it just says Philly. Okay, sorry.
- 17:53Speaker 5: Yes, Rich from.
- 17:54Speaker 9: Philadelphia, Philly. The president's talking about giving $ 5, 000 for every taxpayer.
- 18:00Speaker 9: I'm still waiting for my $ 2, 000 that he promised a
- 18:03Speaker 9: year ago or two years ago.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Well, we all got it. You didn't get it.
- 18:07Speaker 9: No, I still didn't get it in the mail.
- 18:09Speaker 2: I think it's something personal with you and him, because
- 18:12Speaker 2: we all got a nice big check for $ 2, 000. We
- 18:14Speaker 2: got a note from him. You didn't get it.
- 18:17Speaker 9: Okay, I'll quote Fetterman, my... senator cole fenerman to tell
- 18:21Speaker 9: him i want my two thousand dollar check you have
- 18:23Speaker 9: a great day.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Mark all right thanks for calling this listen it's a
- 18:28Speaker 2: gimmick five thousand dollars to everybody yet couldn't actually pull
- 18:32Speaker 2: it off now what he was saying was it would
- 18:36Speaker 2: come from a massive increase in the economy which could
- 18:40Speaker 2: happen you got a manufacturing boom going on right now
- 18:44Speaker 2: uh if you Things get settled in Iran. Oil comes
- 18:47Speaker 2: crashing in. You could have a massive boom in the economy.
- 18:50Speaker 2: And what he was saying was, like most companies when
- 18:53Speaker 2: they have an incredible year, they give dividends out to
- 18:56Speaker 2: the shareholders. That's what he was talking about. You can't
- 18:59Speaker 2: actually do it, though. Let's go to Mike in St. James. Mike,
- 19:02Speaker 2: how are you doing?
- 19:04Speaker 5: Good morning, Mark.
- 19:05Speaker 6: Yes, Mark.
- 19:06Speaker 5: Hey, Mark. Donald wants to bring factories back to America.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Well, he's already done it.
- 19:13Speaker 5: Well, isn't it a problem.
- 19:14Speaker 6: That the workers here want $ 40 or $ 50 an hour
- 19:17Speaker 6: compared to China?
- 19:18Speaker 2: Well, I hate to break it to you. He's already
- 19:19Speaker 2: brought a lot of factories back. A ton of manufacturing
- 19:21Speaker 2: has opened up in the last couple of years here.
- 19:23Speaker 2: A ton of manufacturing. Huge manufacturing. He already did it.
- 19:29Speaker 2: It's actually happened. So you can't argue. It's working. You
- 19:33Speaker 2: can't argue against it. That would have been a good
- 19:35Speaker 2: call two years ago before he brought it all here.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Let's go to Joel in Connecticut. Joel, how are you doing?
- 19:42Speaker 3: Joel?
- 19:43Speaker 2: Joel?
- 19:44Speaker 5: I don't mind you having.
- 19:50Speaker 2: The radio on, but it seems to be on a
- 19:51Speaker 2: different station. That's the problem.
- 19:53Speaker 5: No, no. Mark, I'm only calling to tell you, Lindsay Clancy.
- 19:58Speaker 5: Whenever they got her Irish up, Clancy lowered the boom. Boom, boom, boom.
- 20:04Speaker 5: That's what I was listening to, Mark. That old Bing
- 20:07Speaker 5: Crosby and Dennis Day song. Clancy lowered the boom.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Yeah, listen, it's a little early for happy hour, but
- 20:15Speaker 2: where are you in Connecticut?
- 20:17Speaker 5: I'm not happy hour. I'm a coffee bagel young man
- 20:20Speaker 5: of 83 years old.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Where are you? What part of Connecticut?
- 20:23Speaker 5: I'm finishing my retirement in Connecticut.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Where in Connecticut?
- 20:28Speaker 3: Where?
- 20:28Speaker 5: Westport land.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Westport.
- 20:30Speaker 8: Oh.
- 20:32Speaker 5: Magical, wonderful Westport.
- 20:33Speaker 2: You're that guy we see on Campo Beach running around
- 20:36Speaker 2: bothering everybody, right?
- 20:37Speaker 5: This is true. I'm running around trying to lick their
- 20:39Speaker 5: ice cream cones.
- 20:41Speaker 2: My God, I'm sorry.
- 20:42Speaker 5: My God, I'm telling you, when they have an ice cream,
- 20:45Speaker 5: I got to be there. But that Lindsay Clancy woman.
- 20:48Speaker 2: You sound like you're in a 1940s gangster movie with
- 20:51Speaker 2: James Cagney. Now, look here, you mug.
- 20:53Speaker 8: See here.
- 20:54Speaker 5: I tell you, I grew up in a. In a
- 20:58Speaker 5: neighborhood in Brooklyn, there were a lot of gangsters when
- 21:00Speaker 5: I was a kid. Oh, all right. So they imprinted
- 21:03Speaker 5: me in some way, I guess.
- 21:04Speaker 2: All right, Joel. Thanks for calling. Let's go to Mary
- 21:08Speaker 2: in New Jersey. Mary, how are you doing?
- 21:10Speaker 7: I'm well, thank you. My question is, it's not likely
- 21:14Speaker 7: that Trump will give the $ 5, 000 to everybody in the country. However,
- 21:18Speaker 7: I'm curious as to know, are Democrats aware of why
- 21:22Speaker 7: Biden allowed millions of illegals into this country?
- 21:26Speaker 3: Yes.
- 21:26Speaker 7: Wasn't it for the vote?
- 21:27Speaker 2: It was for the votes. It was for cheap labor.
- 21:30Speaker 2: It was to get millions of them on the voter rolls,
- 21:33Speaker 2: which they did do. Borders wide open. Hey, it's actually
- 21:36Speaker 2: a movement. I don't know if it's Donald Trump or
- 21:39Speaker 2: the Republicans. They want to actually pass some sort of legislation,
- 21:43Speaker 2: actual law, that it's illegal to leave the border open,
- 21:48Speaker 2: that a future president, future leader could actually be arrested
- 21:51Speaker 2: if he didn't secure the border. They're trying to actually
- 21:54Speaker 2: codify that somehow. Hey, when we come back, the best
- 21:58Speaker 2: late-night show host in television, Jimmy Fela. He's on here
- 22:03Speaker 2: on WOR every weeknight, 9 to midnight. He's on Fox
- 22:07Speaker 2: News Channel Saturday nights. We've got a lot to talk
- 22:09Speaker 2: to him about. The very funny Jimmy Fela is next.
- 22:12Speaker 2: on 710WOR.
- 22:15Speaker 1: It's the Mark Simone Show on 710WOR.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Well, Jimmy Fallon, he's on WOR every night, 9 to midnight.
- 22:24Speaker 2: You'll get addicted real fast if you listen. It's the
- 22:26Speaker 2: funniest show on the radio. Jimmy Fallon, 9 to midnight,
- 22:29Speaker 2: every weeknight, WOR. Then on Saturday nights, does the best
- 22:33Speaker 2: late night show on television with the single finest monologue
- 22:37Speaker 2: anywhere on television, Saturday nights at 10 on the Fox
- 22:40Speaker 2: News channel. Jimmy Fela, how you doing? You know what?
- 22:44Speaker 3: I'm in good spirits. Thanks for that fine intro about
- 22:49Speaker 3: my TV show this weekend. We have a girl on
- 22:51Speaker 3: that was in the movie Black Panther, but I'm pretty
- 22:54Speaker 3: sure Trump renamed it Orange Panther. He's on a binge
- 22:57Speaker 3: this week. Right after Lake America or New America, whatever
- 23:01Speaker 3: the heck's happening down in Mexico. Everything's got a new title, Simone.
- 23:05Speaker 2: I love it. He is getting a little silly lately,
- 23:09Speaker 2: isn't he? What's getting into him?
- 23:10Speaker 3: Yes. Something's going on. Well, I will say this because
- 23:15Speaker 3: they had this whole crazy convention down there last night.
- 23:19Speaker 3: I believe he's still speaking. He might still be on stage.
- 23:22Speaker 3: He did an hour and 50 minutes, and everybody was like, well,
- 23:27Speaker 3: you know, Trump's crazy because he's going to book this thing,
- 23:29Speaker 3: and there's going to be football on, and people are
- 23:31Speaker 3: going to be watching football. But little did they know
- 23:33Speaker 3: he'd still be speaking when the football game was.
- 23:37Speaker 9: Over.
- 23:38Speaker 3: I was like, he had to have a plan. Sure enough,
- 23:40Speaker 3: he did. That was like a New Year's Eve. That
- 23:41Speaker 3: was like a ball drop.
- 23:42Speaker 6: It went all night.
- 23:44Speaker 2: But normally he's pretty good on stage. I mean, he's
- 23:47Speaker 2: not a stand-up comic, but he's pretty good at coming close.
- 23:50Speaker 2: But what was he thinking not tightening that up, not
- 23:54Speaker 2: focusing that speech?
- 23:56Speaker 3: You know, man, this is the thing. There's definitely nobody
- 24:00Speaker 3: in his orbit that's saying the word no to him. Nobody.
- 24:03Speaker 3: You know what I mean? And he likes the live
- 24:06Speaker 3: element so much more. than all the buttoned-up stuff he
- 24:10Speaker 3: does with the press. Because you understand, like, even when
- 24:12Speaker 3: he talks to the press, he talks for two hours.
- 24:13Speaker 3: But it's hostile. You know what I'm saying? It's hostile.
- 24:17Speaker 3: So it's very rare that he actually gets, like, a
- 24:20Speaker 3: home game. That's why he likes rallies, you know, because
- 24:22Speaker 3: it's a totally different approach. You think of, like, every
- 24:24Speaker 3: press conference he does in the White House, they don't
- 24:26Speaker 3: actually ask questions. They just accuse him of things. They're like,
- 24:30Speaker 3: you know, Mr. President, you're committing transgenocide. What do you
- 24:33Speaker 3: think of this WNBA thing? He's like, whoa, what just happened?
- 24:39Speaker 2: Oh, you got to follow Jimmy Fallon on Instagram. He
- 24:41Speaker 2: does these great videos on Instagram. The one about Jimmy Kimmel.
- 24:47Speaker 2: The show is on its deathbed. I mean, it's over,
- 24:49Speaker 2: but you've been watching this week. He's vicious, angry. Who
- 24:54Speaker 2: wants to watch such an angry guy on television?
- 24:58Speaker 3: And the whole show, okay? Because his wife is his
- 25:01Speaker 3: head writer. Really? And his wife, yes, his wife writes
- 25:04Speaker 3: a show. She's the head writer for his show. And
- 25:06Speaker 3: that's why... But that tells you everything. You see, he
- 25:10Speaker 3: was obviously the guy on the man show who was
- 25:12Speaker 3: doing a lot of crass, misogynistic stuff, also wearing blackface
- 25:16Speaker 3: quite a bit, I might add. For a guy who
- 25:19Speaker 3: likes to call Trump a racist, I've got to be honest, blackface,
- 25:22Speaker 3: a little aggressive. I've gotten some odd makeup jobs before
- 25:26Speaker 3: my show over the years, but nobody ever confused me
- 25:29Speaker 3: with Karl Malone on set, but that's another story. But
- 25:33Speaker 3: the point is, his wife kind of... hijacked his sensibilities
- 25:37Speaker 3: in a lot of ways and turned him into like
- 25:39Speaker 3: another late night woke activist, like a Colbert. And the,
- 25:43Speaker 3: one of the reasons he goes along with that is
- 25:46Speaker 3: he is paying like a protection racket to the outrage mob.
- 25:50Speaker 3: I mean, you think about this, if Jimmy Kimmel is
- 25:51Speaker 3: a Republican and he had a 10 year history of
- 25:54Speaker 3: wearing blackface on TV, his show would have been canceled
- 25:56Speaker 3: 10 years ago, you know? So, So that's why he's
- 26:00Speaker 3: always opens every show with a tribute to whatever the
- 26:03Speaker 3: Democrat cause of the day happens to be. It is
- 26:05Speaker 3: straight up good fellas. You know, he went into business
- 26:08Speaker 3: with the mob. And now what? You got slow business?
- 26:11Speaker 3: F you, pay me. Come on, Kimmel. That's right. Even
- 26:14Speaker 3: when Kimmel was off for summer break, all of his
- 26:16Speaker 3: guest hosts came on and trashed Trump, too. Did you see?
- 26:19Speaker 3: Jelly Roll was on, and then poor Rosie O'Donnell showed up.
- 26:24Speaker 3: She didn't realize Jelly Roll was a person, so she
- 26:27Speaker 3: was crushed. It was going to be craft services. It
- 26:30Speaker 3: was a mess.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Hey, so Comics Unleashed, this is Byron Allen. It's kind
- 26:35Speaker 2: of a low-budget show, and it's not big names, but
- 26:37Speaker 2: it's pure comedy. You know, it's now crushing Fallon and
- 26:41Speaker 2: Kimmel in 18 to 49-year-olds. The key demo.
- 26:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not surprised by that.
- 26:45Speaker 2: You're going to laugh.
- 26:46Speaker 3: I almost texted you yesterday. I was driving into Fox
- 26:48Speaker 3: and I was listening to you talk about this. Byron Allen,
- 26:50Speaker 3: you were saying Byron Allen, he's a genius. He's a
- 26:53Speaker 3: smart guy. And he realized the thing about people who
- 26:57Speaker 3: tune into a comedy show is they want to laugh.
- 27:01Speaker 3: It's like it's a weird thing. It's a weird thing.
- 27:04Speaker 3: But all these other late night shows, like imagine if
- 27:06Speaker 3: you ran a pizza place. If someone called up and
- 27:09Speaker 3: ordered a pizza, you'd send them a pizza. These late-night
- 27:11Speaker 3: shows have not been sending the pizza.
- 27:14Speaker 9: They're like, sorry.
- 27:15Speaker 3: The best I can do is this cauliflower crust.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Not good. The guy that created late-night television, his name
- 27:22Speaker 2: was Pat Weaver. He worked at NBC. He said, let's
- 27:25Speaker 2: have a late-night show that's entertaining. People will have a
- 27:27Speaker 2: few laughs before they go to sleep. And then he
- 27:30Speaker 2: got Steve Allen to do it. He never would have
- 27:34Speaker 2: thought to himself, Let's get people really angry, mad before
- 27:37Speaker 2: they go to sleep. Let's rile them up right before bedtime.
- 27:43Speaker 3: And the thing about it is also like comics kind
- 27:46Speaker 3: of like they knew better than to take themselves seriously.
- 27:49Speaker 3: You know, we're supposed to be like your misfit buddies
- 27:52Speaker 3: and you can let your guard down because we're just
- 27:54Speaker 3: here to goof off. None of this is real. And
- 27:57Speaker 3: it's crazy to watch because these are like a lot
- 27:59Speaker 3: of these guys are a little younger than what we
- 28:01Speaker 3: were watching on The Tonight Show. Like if you turn
- 28:04Speaker 3: on a rerun of The Tonight Show, you see Johnny
- 28:06Speaker 3: Ed sitting next to a drunk Dean Martin or a Rickles.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Everybody there is in their 60s, and they're still sophomorically
- 28:13Speaker 3: ridiculous like a bunch of 10-year-old boys. And that was
- 28:16Speaker 3: always the charm of comedy. You saw what looked like
- 28:19Speaker 3: serious adults behaving like five-year-olds. And now we have five-year-olds
- 28:24Speaker 3: trying to act like serious adults.
- 28:26Speaker 5: That's so dumb.
- 28:28Speaker 2: That's the best explanation I've ever heard of this. Jimmy Fallon,
- 28:33Speaker 2: where did you go on vacation? I see the Yellowstone.
- 28:35Speaker 2: This doesn't seem like your kind of vacation.
- 28:38Speaker 3: That's funny. I do not listen, man. I took Jenny
- 28:42Speaker 3: out to Jackson Hole. which was definitely way too fancy
- 28:47Speaker 3: and classy for me, but it was really nice. We
- 28:50Speaker 3: went and saw the animals in Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons.
- 28:55Speaker 3: The whole problem out there, man, for real, is it's beautiful,
- 28:59Speaker 3: but if you show up with my accent, everyone thinks
- 29:01Speaker 3: you're in the witness protection program. Literally. Every single person
- 29:06Speaker 3: in the state of Wyoming assumed that I was about
- 29:09Speaker 3: to testify, or I already had. It made for some
- 29:12Speaker 3: good conversations. They were trying to like get my rate
- 29:15Speaker 3: on whacking their aunt or something. I'm like, no.
- 29:18Speaker 2: I'm a TV guy.
- 29:19Speaker 3: And it was a real friendly crowd. It was actually
- 29:21Speaker 3: very pro Fox out there. I was, I was thrilled
- 29:22Speaker 3: with that Jackson hole, um, which is, you know, big
- 29:25Speaker 3: Western vibe. It was, I would say, you know, in
- 29:28Speaker 3: terms of the people I was running into on the street,
- 29:30Speaker 3: I would say it was like 90% Republican. It was
- 29:31Speaker 3: actually pretty surprising.
- 29:33Speaker 2: So since when are you a Mr. Outdoorsman out there
- 29:36Speaker 2: in Jackson Hole?
- 29:37Speaker 3: No, I'm not. This is the thing.
- 29:39Speaker 2: Okay.
- 29:39Speaker 3: You asked a fair question. I'm clearly not. I like
- 29:43Speaker 3: to drive. That's the thing. Because I was spending 12 hours,
- 29:46Speaker 3: 15 hours a day driving my yellow cab here in
- 29:49Speaker 3: the city. When I go on vacation, all we do
- 29:51Speaker 3: is just rent a convertible and we drive till the
- 29:53Speaker 3: wheels fall off. That's every year. my poor family, but
- 29:57Speaker 3: they've learned to like it. We crank the music and
- 29:59Speaker 3: just drive around and see stuff. So to give you
- 30:01Speaker 3: an example, I'm not even kidding. When I was in
- 30:03Speaker 3: LA for standup this summer, um, I had, I had
- 30:06Speaker 3: a gig at the Grove in Anaheim on a Saturday,
- 30:09Speaker 3: but that morning me and Lincoln got in the car,
- 30:10Speaker 3: drove 300 miles to Michael Jackson's Neverland ranch.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Wow.
- 30:14Speaker 3: How about that?
- 30:15Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 30:16Speaker 3: 300 one way turned around, came back and, uh, You know,
- 30:19Speaker 3: we couldn't get in. Lincoln wasn't cute enough. But, you know,
- 30:22Speaker 3: there was a time. There was a time when Michael
- 30:25Speaker 3: was around. He got right in back in the day. But,
- 30:28Speaker 3: you know, it was a different time.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Hey, well, Jimmy Fallon's on every night here at WOR.
- 30:32Speaker 2: It's a very funny show. Nine to midnight. People get
- 30:35Speaker 2: addicted to it. Nine to midnight. What are you doing
- 30:37Speaker 2: on tonight's show?
- 30:39Speaker 3: Oh, you know, our buddy Mark Malkoff is coming on.
- 30:42Speaker 6: Oh, great.
- 30:42Speaker 3: I'm going to make him talk Kimmel. We got Kennedy. Obviously,
- 30:47Speaker 3: Frank Stiller's on. We have the big Tunnel to Towers
- 30:49Speaker 3: events going on tomorrow, 9-11. And it's going to– I'm
- 30:53Speaker 3: just warning you now. Okay, obviously, we have Mom Donnie
- 30:55Speaker 3: going to Ground Zero tomorrow.
- 30:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:57Speaker 3: He's never been to one of these. He's going to
- 30:59Speaker 3: be really bummed out when he learns there's no moment
- 31:01Speaker 3: of silence for the hijackers. I mean, I hope somebody
- 31:05Speaker 3: can console this dirtbag.
- 31:07Speaker 6: When he gets down there.
- 31:09Speaker 3: Wow.
- 31:09Speaker 2: Hey, also make sure you watch his Saturday night TV show.
- 31:12Speaker 2: It's the best late night show on TV. Saturday night's
- 31:14Speaker 2: 10 o'clock and people can come be in the audience, right?
- 31:18Speaker 2: You're going to be taking this.

- 31:29Speaker 3: going to be a good one. And you guys come
- 31:31Speaker 3: be in the audience. It's a lot of fun.

- 31:32Speaker 2: So if you want to visit Fox TV, sit in
- 31:34Speaker 2: the studio audience, meet a lot of celebrities, Go to foxacrossamerica.com.

- 31:50Speaker 3: See you soon, buddy.

- 31:55Speaker 2: Buck and Clay. That's a big show now. It's like

- 32:04Speaker 2: show in America. Sean Hannity at three. I think he's
- 32:08Speaker 2: live from the convention today in Dallas. Then you got
- 32:12Speaker 2: Jesse Kelly at six. And as I just said, Jimmy Fela,
- 32:16Speaker 2: nine to midnight. Now I'm on every day, nine to noon.
- 32:20Speaker 2: And right before me, the big morning show, it's Curtis Lewa,
- 32:23Speaker 2: Larry Menti, six to nine, Every morning here on 710WOR.
- 32:29Speaker 3: More Mark.
- 32:31Speaker 2: Mark Simone. Mr. New York.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Now three hours every weekday from 9 till noon on 710WOR.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Well, hey, tomorrow, 9-11, the 25th anniversary. It's just a
- 32:47Speaker 2: very sad day, but we'll be covering it for you.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Don't forget, below Canal Street, everything's going to be closed
- 32:54Speaker 2: in lower Manhattan, so you Don't try to drive anywhere
- 32:57Speaker 2: near there. There's always a lot of security for this event,
- 33:01Speaker 2: but it'll be extra security this year because attending the
- 33:05Speaker 2: event tomorrow, expected to attend, are Barack Obama, Bill Clinton,
- 33:10Speaker 2: George W. Bush, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush. There'll
- 33:16Speaker 2: be a lot of VIPs there. Crazy Mom Donnie will
- 33:20Speaker 2: be there. It'd be interesting to see these Democrats, Obama, Biden, Clinton,
- 33:26Speaker 2: if they want to get anywhere near Mamdani or be
- 33:29Speaker 2: seen shaking hands or talking to him, it'll be interesting
- 33:33Speaker 2: to see. Well, that's probably one reason Mamdani's there to
- 33:36Speaker 2: just try to steal the spotlight from these guys. Expect
- 33:40Speaker 2: the family, the families of the victims, to at some
- 33:44Speaker 2: point turn their backs on Mamdani. It'll be quite a
- 33:46Speaker 2: picture when that happens. Anyway, we'll be here tomorrow to
- 33:49Speaker 2: talk about it and lots of other things. Don't forget,
- 33:51Speaker 2: I'm here three hours every day. It's now three hours.
- 33:54Speaker 2: It's nine to noon every day here three hours a day,
- 33:58Speaker 2: Monday through Friday. So I'll see you tomorrow at 9
- 34:01Speaker 2: right here on 710WOR.
