- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31So today we are talking about understanding and forgiveness.
- 0:34Now if you're a human and you're in a relationship with anything,
- 0:39whether human, animal doesn't matter.
- 0:41If you have relationships, you have connections with other
- 0:44beings of any kind, you are bound to be in a position where
- 0:49you are understanding that you need to be looking for
- 0:54forgiveness. Whether you're giving it or
- 0:57you're receiving it doesn't matter.
- 0:58We need to be looking for it because we all have to provide
- 1:02that to people and we all have to receive that from people.
- 1:05Forgiveness is a major portion of being a human and
- 1:09understanding. You have to deliver it as much
- 1:13as you want to receive it. Also understanding their
- 1:16positions and understanding your own positions, they kind of go
- 1:20hand in hand understanding and forgiveness, which is why we're
- 1:23grouping them together in this call today.
- 1:26Now in relationships, nothing is harder than stepping into a
- 1:31place of understanding first and foremost.
- 1:34Before you can forgive, you have to understand, and for me, this
- 1:38is one of the hardest things. Personally, sometimes I'm just
- 1:42like, I don't understand how we have to have this conversation
- 1:45over and over and over again. We we've had it.
- 1:47Why does something keep coming up?
- 1:50And I get very intense about if we've had the conversation, why
- 1:54do we need to keep having the conversation?
- 1:56It should just be we've both cleared the air, whether it's
- 2:00with my one of my kids or it's with my husband or any one of my
- 2:03friends. It's a it's a a thing that I
- 2:07struggle with personally because I know we've had the
- 2:10conversation, so why do we need to keep having it again?
- 2:13I'll take the information on and nine times out of 10 I can
- 2:17understand their position. I make a shift and I want to
- 2:20move on. Doesn't mean I don't want to
- 2:22slip, but I really do work at that.
- 2:25Now here's where it gets tricky. If I have to understand that
- 2:28I've had the conversation multiple times, let's say with
- 2:30my son about doing something and he just keeps repeating the
- 2:34pattern and I am getting more and more aggravated and less and
- 2:38less forgiving, then I'm getting angry and I'm showing up a
- 2:42certain way and that is not going to help the situation.
- 2:45I have to look at this and understand it from a different
- 2:48point of view and say, well, maybe I'm not communicating in a
- 2:51way that he's understanding it. Maybe me just talking and him
- 2:55saying yes doesn't mean he's actually getting it.
- 2:58And I know that sounds insane, but it's really true.
- 3:01Because sometimes we can hear the same things over and over
- 3:04and over again and we say like we know something, but it
- 3:08doesn't mean we're actually doing something.
- 3:10And recognizing this as a pattern in human beings in
- 3:15general is a really big deal because we run on autopilot, we
- 3:19run on future pacing, People will say anything and then they
- 3:24revert right back to an old behaviour.
- 3:25And people will often ask me why?
- 3:27Why do people revert back to an old behaviour?
- 3:30Well, if we pause and we really look at it, it's because it's a
- 3:34pattern. It's because they've done it
- 3:35before, because they've gotten the results that they wanted in
- 3:39some way, shape or form. Even if we don't understand why
- 3:42anyone would run a result like that, they get it.
- 3:46And this all comes back to us and the big scope of things
- 3:49saying, ah, wait, this is part of my being able to understand
- 3:54what's happening, Where are they coming from?
- 3:56What is the real, you know, scope of this?
- 4:00Understanding is a is a gift that we give ourselves and we
- 4:05give to others. If you can practice attempting
- 4:09to understand, you're giving yourself the gift of relieving
- 4:13the stress of staying in the state.
- 4:15Like, I don't get it. I don't get it.
- 4:17I don't get it because no matter how many times we say the words,
- 4:19I don't get it. It's not going to change it and
- 4:21it's not going to force the other person to do it.
- 4:23No matter how many times I say to my son, you know, come on,
- 4:26like, this is ridiculous. I we've talked about this.
- 4:29What's going on? It doesn't matter because he's
- 4:32he is still doesn't matter that I don't get it.
- 4:34It matters that he's still not at that place.
- 4:37So I have to change my approach. Now, someone might say I don't,
- 4:41why should I have to change my approach?
- 4:42Maybe they should change their approach.
- 4:44And that's very true. But if you're not getting the
- 4:46results you want and you still want to get the results you
- 4:49want, then you have to recognize you possibly have to change your
- 4:52approach. But that's just how life works.
- 4:54And that's where you have to step into the role of
- 4:56forgiveness and say, I forgive them for not getting it so
- 5:00quickly. I forgive them for me having to
- 5:03keep repeating myself about this because they're just not
- 5:07comprehending it for some reason.
- 5:09And that's when you can start to create these shifts, that's when
- 5:12you can start to create something that provides you with
- 5:15a bigger just for yourself, a bigger scope in your own world
- 5:22of influence. Because when you do this and you
- 5:25take it on my my using, my superpower of curiosity, I'm
- 5:29just like, OK, I have to change my approach.
- 5:31I do it with clients all the time.
- 5:32If they don't get it, I say, well, I got to change my
- 5:34approach. I must be doing something that
- 5:38may be off. And if I get to a point where I
- 5:40feel like, hey, listen, I just can't do this anymore, I've
- 5:43tried everything, every tool in my bag, which is rare, and I
- 5:47just forgive myself for not getting it.
- 5:48And then I say, you know what? I'm going to choose to move on.
- 5:51They can find another coach, they can do something different.
- 5:54We can try to get them the different help in a different
- 5:57way, but I am in a state of understanding and forgiveness
- 6:01and that's what's so important. So hopefully this makes sense.
- 6:05Hopefully you guys will get it. Practice it, understanding and
- 6:10forgiveness. Give it a try.
- 6:12All right? My friends, I hope you have a
- 6:13blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 6:15Bye.
